1. Why Go To College Essay
Crafting an essay on the importance of attending college is no simple task. It demands a
thorough exploration of various facets, such as the individual's aspirations, societal expectations,
and the evolving landscape of education and employment. The difficulty lies not just in
presenting a coherent argument but also in delving into the nuances that surround the decision to
pursue higher education.
To start, one must navigate through a myriad of opinions and perspectives on the topic. The essay
requires a balanced approach, acknowledging both the proponents and skeptics of the college
experience. Research becomes crucial to understanding the diverse array of reasons people
choose or reject the college path.
Moreover, delving into personal motivations adds another layer of complexity. Addressing the
unique aspirations and circumstances that drive individuals toward or away from college
necessitates empathy and a keen understanding of the human experience. This introspective
element elevates the difficulty level, as it requires the writer to connect with the audience on a
personal and relatable level.
The societal context further complicates the task. Discussing the broader implications of a
society that values higher education demands a nuanced exploration of economic, cultural, and
social factors. Analyzing the potential consequences of not pursuing a college degree and the
evolving job market adds layers of intricacy to the essay.
Ultimately, weaving these elements together into a cohesive narrative that not only informs but
also engages the reader is the true challenge. Crafting a compelling thesis statement that
encapsulates the essence of the argument and guides the reader through the essay's progression
requires finesse and precision.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of the significance of attending college is a
formidable task that demands thorough research, empathy, and a nuanced understanding of the
multifaceted aspects surrounding this decision. The challenge lies not only in presenting a
coherent argument but also in connecting with the audience on a personal and societal level.

Yeah, I m gonna need a minute here, I reply as I start stretching out my legs. What

3. Development For An Adolescent Heading Into Young
Adulthood
Socioemotional development for an adolescent heading into young adulthood can
be a very complex and difficult stage to grasp and to fully understand especially if
they are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). Having emotions of
affection towards someone of the same sex can be quite confusing when you are
coming into adulthood. Many questions and many more emotions arise when
trying to deal with the situation. Now, throw in some religion and what do you
get? Chaos, fear and even more confusion. One man and one women is how it
always supposed to be, right? Am I going against what the Bible says or even how
I was raised? What do I do? What would my friends and family think? WHAT
ABOUT MY PARENTS? Should I come out or keep this a secret? As an
adolescence raised in a society that is well known for its traditional values of only
one man and one woman, they begin to question and challenge the very existence of
those values as they come into early adulthood. In today s society, LGBT
adolescences coming into young adulthood are becoming more exposed to
discriminations against LGBT such as those of North Carolina s new anti LGBT law
or the even more extensive bill that was recently passed in Mississippi that would
protect and encourage business owners in the state to discriminate against people of
the LGBT community. How would this effect a young LGBT adult coming into the
workforce? For my Signature Assignment, I will be focusing on the socioemotional
development on

will always be the conservational problems if nobody starts to buy local grown
foods. Katherine Spriggs, author of the essay, On Buying Local, explains how having
a large variety of foods at all times of the year is not worth the negative effects in the

environmental challenges are being faced; Buying local will help bring advantages to

However, agriculture is the central issue. While pesticides are being used to keep
crops alive, a benefit to farmers, the natural ecosystem is not exactly experiencing
the same effect; the ecosystem is being destroyed. An effective way agriculturists
can improve on decreasing the amount of pesticides is to use continuous
production, where it is reusing the fields, without wasting and hurting them.
Another important environmental issue is the waste of energy and fuel used
when transporting crops across the country. Semi trucks consume a large amount
of fuel and give off a large amount of pollutants when driving long distances.
Spriggs includes that interstate trucking is expensive both financially and
ecologically (Spriggs 97). Buying locally would eliminate the waste of energy and
fuel from driving city to city. The food is also handled more when having to be
transported across the states. The less hands we have on our food, the cleaner it is.
Besides the environmental factors, another point would be that small farms benefit
greatly when consumers buy locally grown foods. Small, locally owned farms Voss
3 usually are more reliable and consumers are willing to pay a larger sum of money
for the goods. The produce is usually fresher and comes from a smaller line of
handling compared to that from larger farms. Small farmers focus their farming
techniques on being sustainable, which includes reducing the use of

Statistical Tools Methods: The main statistical tools that will be used to perform
my analysis are the Microsoft Excel data analysis Tool Pak and an online calculator
for a t test. I will run a regression analysis and an ANOVA test. Excel is the best tool
to use because the data that has been given is quantitative not qualitative. The data
that the teams are given in the case study appears to be units used/sold and
manufactured and this is good data to import into Excel. The only variable that is
present is the year, quarter, or month that the units were sold/produced in. In this
case study the given data would fall in the category of a time series because the
sales figures increased over the time (years). Also in reviewing the data there is
seasonal variation in the sales figures from 2006 to 2008. This category of data
can be analyzed using time series methodologies. The next year s data or projected
data is dependent on the previous year s data, so time series analysis is
appropriate. When looking at the problem that A CAT is facing we see either
overstocking or under stocking transformers. Over stocking causes capital to be
tied up in the inventory. Under stocking causes A CAT to be unable to deliver order
quickly. I chose to use ANOVA and a regression analysis so that I could establish
definitively if the transformers required is dependent or independent on the sales of
refrigerators and by how much does the sales of refrigerators influence the number of
6. What Is Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a 13 year old German Jew who lived with her family in Germany
until the Nazi s came into power. Her Family had to leave Germany and moved to
Amsterdam because her father also had business in Holland. They were not safe in
Amsterdam for very long because the Nazi s invaded Holland. They were not safe in
Amsterdambut instead of fleeing further, the Franks and the Van Daans (Van Pels)
went into hiding in the secret annex that was located in the building where Mr.
Frank had his business before the Nazi s told him he could no longer have a
business. Anne s father gave her a diary and in 1942, Anne started to write letters to
her imaginary friend, Kitty. This expository essay will explore the living conditions
for the two families living inside the annex.
The building where the two families lived was a warehouse with a secret annex that
also had an attic. This attic is where they would live for two years until the Germans
discovered them. When they first arrived, Mr. Frank had to tell them the rules for
living in the annex. From eight in the morning to six in the afternoon, while the
workmen and office staff were there, the families could not make a sound. After the
workers left they could eat, talk, play, and read, but even then, they had to be careful
not to leave any sign they were in the annex. ... Show more content on

7. The Theme Of American Pastoral By Philip Roth
Human beings strived for a better life since the beginning. Mankind witnessed a
never ending race for happiness, wealth, power and superiority. Many revolutions
changed the course of history and became watershed events having great impact on
the human life. While some of the ideas lived on, some of the ideas were short lived.
American Dream was one of such ideas which laid the foundation for the making of
United Statesof America. The Statue of Liberty itself symbolizes the idea of the
Great American Dream. The celebrated idea of American Dream had tremendous
impact on the entire nation and influenced each and every individual in some way or
the other. In fact, it became a significant subject in the course of history and played a

The pastoral was initially originated by the Greek poet Theocritus and the Latin poet
Virgil, who wrote poems about the shepherds ( pastor is Latin for shepherd ). In
Shostak s book Philip Roth: American Pastoral, The Human Stain, The Plot Against
America, the traditional pastoral is described as: a deliberate conventional poem
expressing an urban poet s nostalgic image of the peace and simplicity of the life of
the shepherds and other rural folk in idealized natural settings (qtd. in. Shostak
34). In American Pastoral, Roth presents the story of Levovs, an American family,
who in search of the American dream, gain wealth and success, but suffers from
heartache and pain due to the adverse situations. In a way, it is similar to the story
of Job in the Holy Bible, in which Job s life moves from one phase to another, from
poverty to riches, and then back to the former. The novel consciously alludes to
Milton s epic poem Paradise Lost, both thematically and formally, with the Jewish
post war acquisition and loss of an American
8. Title 10 Integration
The efficient integration of Title 10 and National Guard forces during domestic
operations increases the threshold of a state s capacity to respond to disasters or
security requirements. Pre event preparation is required to achieve efficient
integration. This preparation requires three critical elements, building relationships,
integrated planning and exercises. To successfully incorporate federal forces during a
response, states must develop positive relationships with key Title 10 partners during
steady stateoperations. Building upon these relationships, stateand federal partners
conduct deliberate planning for the integration of Title 10 forces in a state response.
Finally, exercises validate plans and grow relationships. This paper describes... Show

There are several large exercises simulating combined state and federal responses such
as Vigilant Guard and Ardent Sentry. Lessons learned from the Hurricane Sandy
response indicate the importance of exercises simulating a DSC response. These
events provide critical training, however, they are resource intensive. Additionally,
they are cyclical with the opportunity to participate only every few years. To augment
large formal exercises, many states now conduct annual Title 10 synchronization
meetings. In the Alabama version of this event, the DCO, DCE, Deputy DSC, JEC,
state based Title 10 installations and JFHQ representatives give formal information
briefs on their functions. The event then transitions into a hurricane scenario table top
exercise to ensure all the participants understand the expectations during a DSC led
response. This interaction between the state and Title 10 participants is critical.
Additionally, the interaction between the Title 10 participants, which normally do not
work together, greatly enhances the shared understanding of effective state federal
integration. Regardless of the scale of the exercise, conducting exercises together
with state and Title 10 partners validates existing plans and strengthens
9. Death In Mary Oliver s Sleeping In The Forest
Mary Oliver s poem, Sleeping in the Forest, presents a peaceful and vivid
representation of death and its relationship with nature. As the poem begins, the
reader is introduced to the earth welcoming the speaker back into the realm of
nature. Man was created from the dust of the earth and when we die, our bodies
return to the dust. However, this poem presents a more beautiful image of what
death is composed of. Death is often portrayed as being frightening and disturbing.
When individuals are presented with the thought of death, they often push this
thought away out of fear and ignorance. Everyone will die someday whether we
ignore the thought of death or not. However, Oliver creates a relaxing and
welcoming image for the reader on what death (ideally) is. Obviously, since Oliver
is still alive, she doesn t know what death feels like. However, the way she
describes death, I hope that it feels like sleeping in a forest; full of stars and
enchantment. The enchantment in this poem begins by the earth welcoming the
speaker back home. This speaker expresses that, She took me back so tenderly. This
statement exemplifies to the reader that death is not a scary process. In this case, the
earth is being portrayed as a woman. This is significant because women are often
portrayed as being nurturing and caring. For the reader, this can trigger memories or
ideas of who the reader would picture the earth as. Whether that be a mother,
grandmother, aunt, sister, etc. the reader can

Afghanistan is one of the poorest and most troubled countries in the world today

ruling Afghanistan. The most recent regime was the Taliban. According to The 9/11
Encyclopedia, Taliban means students in Arabic and it was founded in 1994 by
Mohammed Mullah Omar. Omar had his own way of interpreting the Quran and that
led to many religious restrictions on the Afghan people. The Taliban took over power

14. Lord Of The Flies Tone Analysis
Rules are meant to sustain a society in shape and order, but what happens when
rules aren t enforced anymore? In William Golding s novel, Lord of the Flies, a
group of schoolboys are stranded on an island without any grownups to look after
them. The mysterious island test the boys with ups and downs that reveal the
different tones from beginning to end. The challenges the characters face throughout
the book give many shifts in tones to the novel, but the more dominant tone is
morose; a gloomy, sullen, surly, and despondent tone. The author uses imagery to
recognize the gloomy tone with the senses, details to support the sullen, surly tone
with facts, and language to describe the despondent tone with words. Imagery helps
the reader s senses in creating a mood or tone. With the description of what senses
are being used, it creates an entirely new and different experience for the... Show

Once the boys arrive on the island, the reader wonders how they got there. The
author addresses this detail, The plane was shot down in flames. Nobody knows
where we are. We may be here a long time (34). This significant detail is included
because it tells the reader how the world is at the time for the group of boys. This
gives some background information to the reader on the situation of being
stranded on an island, not knowing where you are or if you will ever be rescued.
Furthermore, after Simon s death, Golding presents the detail of how Ralph is
dealing with the death, Ralph, cradling the conch, rocked himself to and fro (157).
The author specifically included Plath s state of being because it was the first death
they have encountered of their own since they ve been on the island. As the reader
this affects my mood to be gloomy because Ralph is traumatized from Simon s death.
This incident contributes to the tone of the novel, morose, because with the idea of
not being rescued and a death the tone turns

something that will help you decide between the worm and the squid is looking at
their adaptations. A worm is a small, segmented animal that lives underground. A
squid is an animalthat lives in the ocean and it can come in many different sizes. I
believe that the squid is more adapted to its environment because the squid has more
abilities.First of all, the worm is still greatly adapted to the environment. Worms like
darkness so they live underground. The wormsВґ structure was adapted to move in
narrow tunnels. They eat leaves and other decomposed things at night. Also, worms
have setae which help
16. External Factors Influence Of Sleep Research
Factors that affect sleep and sleeping patterns include stress, medical conditions
and medication, especially those that cause chronic pain or other discomfort (CBS
News, 2015). External factors that could cause sleeping problems are the
consumption of certain types of food and drinks like caffeine, the environment and
the amount of light that is exposed to the person when sleeping can also greatly
affect the quantity and quality of the individual s sleep (BBC.2015). In general,
these factors tend to increase the number of awakenings and limit the depth of
sleep (Borsari, 2013). One particular factor that influences a person s sleep is the
exposure to light. Exposure to light is one of the most important external factors
and can cause harm directly and indirectly as it makes it difficult for people to fall
asleep, and indirectly, by influencing the timing of our internal clock and thereby
affecting the preferred time to sleep (Sleep Foundation, 2015). Light influences the
internal clock through specialis ed light sensitive cells in the retina of the eyes.
These cells, which occupy the same space as the rods and cones that make vision
possible, gives signals to the brain to tell whether if it is daytime or night time, and
sleeping patterns are set accordingly (CBS News, 2015). Exposure to light stimulates
a nerve pathway from the eye to parts of the brain that control hormones (shown in
figure 2), body temperature and other functions that play a role in making us feel

18. Arts Is An Institution Of Higher Education
Wesleyan is an institution of higher education, and I would place education at the
center of all fine arts programming.
Many of us are aware of the transformative power of Arts performances and exhibits.
I ll call this arts enrichment. The Arts reach deeply into our unconscious minds and
make an imprint beyond where the written or spoken word can go. The Arts open
minds to pluralistic thinking and banish barriers between various groups within the
human race without in your face politics or flag waving sentimentality. With subtlety
of expression, the Arts elevate us to our best selves, and our society to both its
cultural differences and oneness. But many of us know this.
Arts Education (capital E) is a noble pursuit to which I devote much of my life and
career. Every student needs the vocabulary, skills and perceptions gained by
studying Art, Culture and the Humanities. Too many people say, I took piano for a
few years, but I quit, or I saw the movie, why go out on a rainy night to see the play,
unaware that music belongs to us all, art belongs to us all, and a cathartic experience
in a darkened theater makes us think, feel and become more human. Art is as much a
way for us to understand ourselves as knowing our history or understanding the laws
of physics. Art is not for artists and talented people, art is for us all, but some
students may not see the relevance of attending an art opening when final exams are
looming.
Beyond arts enrichment and Arts Education, is the

The 1990 s Take Off and Beyond
The early 1990s is when the modern day began. In 1992, and Oxford University
computer scientists named Tim Berners Lee developed the World Wide Web. This
was a data sharing space that anyone with an internet connection can access. Not just
government research centers and scientists with access to top of the of the line
equipment. As the 1990 s continued, the Internet continued to globalize. In 1992,
Erwise was the first successful Internet browser due to the graphical user interface
software it supplied. Erwise paved the way for Mosaic and eventually Netscape
which accounted for 90 percent of all internet browsing activity. As the Internet
started to grow faster, companies such America Online and Compuserve offered
Internet through a dial up network connection. This allowed anyone with a home

20. The Wife of His Youth by Charles Chestnut
Title
Author Charles Chestnut was one of the most influential and widely respected
African American fiction writers in the United States. He was the first African
American writer of fiction to enlist in the majority white controlled publishing
industry. Much of his work is based off of his examining probes and indictments of
racism. Chestnut expressed his grievances of the integration of African Americans
into white culture in his short stories, novels, and essays. He told most of his stories
from prospective that would not offend, but instead, inform his white readers about
African Americans and how they are defining their identity in America. The question
of identity becomes the focus for American Americans because most of their identity
was lost during slavery. Chestnut s approach to the matter of racial identity has been
seen as ineffective to solving race problems. However, after an analysis of his works
and his overall vow to the African Americancommunity would suggest something
else. One of Chestnut s works in particular The Wife of His Youth, tackles the issue of
African American s mimicking the dominant culture in order to improve their
rankings in society. The Wife of His Youth voices the fears of African Americans
losing their cultural individuality, pride in their heritage, and moral perception by
integrating into the dominant society.
In The Wife of His Youth the biracial protagonist, Mr. Ryder is trying to reinvent his

21. Importance Of Myths In Greek Myths
Greek mythology is the myths and legends that the Greeks built their lives around.
Hermes is the goddess of herds, flock, traveller, hospitality roads, trade and laws. He
was born in a cave at dawn, and his mother wrapped him in swaddling wraps. Sirens
were creatures that had a head of a woman and body if bird. Tiresias lived for seven
to nine years, and in those years he lived as man and woman. Hermes, Sirens, and
Tiresias are important in Greek mythologybecause they reveal the values of Greek
culture, all of them have an important story, and they all appear in the Odysseus.

Hermes was the goddess of herds, flocks, traveller, hospitality roads, trade, and
laws. He was the Herald of the gods, and Hermes was the guide of all the dead
souls to the underworld. Hermes appeared in the Odyssey and other big events in
the Odyssey. So as you have been reading you have probably realized that Hermes
had a lot of important things to do.
Sirens lived on an island near Scylla and Charybdis. The would sing and lure the
sailors and their crew in to cause them to shipwreck. The Sirens had the head of a
woman and the body of a bird, and they had wings. The Sirens also would give
knowledge to anyone who would come to them. The greatest story that the Sirens
have is the story about the Odyssey and his crew returning home from the Trojan war.
The Sirens committed suicide because of the Odyssey passing by them and they
were one of the only Crews to escape the Sirens. They did this because it was
known that if anyone passed by them they would perish instead. If you would like to
know more about the Sirens there is a statute of them and it is located in Greece.
Tiresias lived for seven to nine years. During the long years of his lived not only
did he live as man but he lived as women. Some say that the causes of his sex change
was when he stumbling along to mating snakes and when he encountered them, he
looked at them and he was turned into a woman. Then years later he was walking
and saw another pair of mating snakes. This time

It is the world s one crime its babes grow dull,

stated that rapid population growth presents a major risk to world economic, political,
and ecological systems, and as these systems begin to fail, to our humanitarian values
(Doerr, 1995).
Causes of Rapid Population Growth
The past 300 years have been characterized by an unprecedented exponential increase
in worldwide human population. Humanity took millions of years to reach a 1700
population of around 700 million, which had nearly doubled by 1850. Only one
hundred years later, world population stood at 2.5 billion and doubled again in less
than forty years (Weiskel, 1995). The impressive improvements in diet, shelter,
clothing, sanitation, and medicine brought about by the Industrial Revolution,
beginning in eighteenth century Europe and still expanding throughout the world,
have dramatically lowered mortality and increased life expectancy in industrializing
countries (Davis, 1991).
Demographers have identified an overall pattern of demographic transition which
appears to repeat itself with remarkable regularity in industrializing societies
throughout the world. In each case, mortality begins to decline rapidly as the effects of

24. School Shootings, It Shook The Nation
Flooding every major media outlet making headlines across the country are school
shootings, it shook the nation when twenty, first graders and six adults were killed
by Adam Lanza, a twenty year old man who shot his mother in the head before taking
her car and driving to Sandy Hook Elementary. Other schoolshooting have occurred
since then and it brought up the issue of guncontrol, some politicians even supported
the idea of giving teachers guns to have in the classroom. I am against allowing
teachers to have guns in the classroom in the name of protection and security.
What is your initial point of view?
My initial point of view is adding more guns to a hostile situation by giving teachers
guns does not solve schools security issues in trying to keep children safe. Spending
valuable money should not go into training teachers on how to use a gun, it should
go into educating all staff members and students on emergency drills and lock downs
in case of a school shooting. Even upgrading security systems would be more helpful
in a hostile situation rather than depending on one person killing another to save
everyone.
How can you define your point of view more clearly?
I can define my point of view more clearly by asking questions that maybe many
people have not wanted to ask for the fear of receiving a selfish answer. For
example has anyone asked a teacher, even with the training and the gun in your hand
are you really ready to kill someone? The state and the school are

The outcasts of society, the lazy and incompetent, or the victims of extreme
misfortunes? As we put aside our bifocals or ethnocentrism and tour the culture of
homelessness, we will demystify, learning the how s, when s and why s. It is
essential not to get lost within the presentation of stats and facts. But, to digest the
information, reverting it back to our own lives. In doing so, we will see how near or
far we are to the brinks of homelessness. Careful! As the degrees of separation maybe

Homelessness
According to a recent point in time by a survey provided by the National Alliance to
End Homelessness, an estimated 740000 individuals are experiencing homelessness
at any particular time in America (Aratani). Additionally, an approximated 3.5
million individuals are at risk of experiencing temporary homelessness at a certain
point in a particular year with some 1.35 million children based on the report by the
National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty (Aratani).
In 2005, 50 percent of the cities in the US were surveyed and reported domestic
violence, classified as a traumatic life event, to be the primary cause of homeless

Angeles, Burlington, Nashville, St. Paul, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Trenton,
Seattle, and Nashville. In addition, a survey carried out in 2003 about the homeless
mothers across the country found out that one quarter had been abused
26. The Stone Age Poem
The poetess realistically depicts the burdens of domestic life, sickness, her ageing
and decaying of body, and the anticipation of death in the final passage: I shall be
the fat kneed hag in the long queue The one from whose shopping bag the mean
potato must Roll across the road. I shall be the patient On the hospital bed, lying in
drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing away her
belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some
womb in that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant,
marked by discontent. (Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this
anthology, strongly expresses the note of rebellionagainst male domination. The wife
resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is described as an Old fat
spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the four
walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a
granite Dove, you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face
absent mindedly while you read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet,
as day dreams, strong men cast their shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell
of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age)
In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. She asserts her
individuality and challenges domesticity. A note of rebellion and defiance is strongly
expressed in this poem.
27. Textual Analysis Of The King
Another film technique used to shape my reaction to Bertie is dialogue. Dialogue
helps us understand the character and sympathise with the battle he has to
overcome. The battle of becoming king and even worse with a stammer made it
hard for Bertie to take on the leadership role and speak for the nation. My husbands
work involves a great deal of public speaking is quoted by Elizabeth, Bertie s wife.
This shows that Bertie had to be a confident at speaking in front of large audienceas it
was his role to speak for the nation. Bertie doubts himself of being an unsuccessful
leader and because he doesn t accept the duty of being a king this showed weakness.

Bertie s stammer problem also contributes to the act of him not believing in
himself because he quotes I cant even give them a christmas speech . Bertie s
stammer has affected his role of king as it requires him to speak to and for the
nation. Is the nation ready for two minutes of radio silence ? From Bertie s
dialogue i believed that he didn t want to be the king and with his stammer this made
it an even greater obstacle that he has to overcome in order to be the leader .
In the opening Scene of the film a series of camera angles including close ups a
low shot and a pov shot show a large grey microphone shaped like a bullet making it
intimidating. Emphasis has been put on the microphone through the use of camera
angles to portray the idea that it is berties nemesis it is a symbol of what Bertie will
have to face and overcome. The threatening way the microphone is portrayed through
camera shots makes the viewers aware that the Bertie is not confident at speaking
and with a stutter this makes it more noticeable. This discourages him from truly
finding his voice before Bertie gives his speech to an

there are some areas in myself that I need to work on. I think I need more time to

taking these classes, moved to New York has exposed to different cultures and

The purpose of the narration is to smooth over the various jumps in the story.
Throughout the film sub stories change quickly, narration is the device that covers
the holes. Without narration the viewer would become lost very quickly, and may
not fully understand events. At the beginning of the film, Henry is shown as a
young boy looking out of his bedroom window admiring the lifestyle of the local
?Wiseguys?. Here follows a very quick succession of events that show how his
character gets involved with these people and what he does to earn more respect
from them and eventually be accepted into their group. The narration explains why
he admires them so much, ?They did whatever they wanted?, why he wants to part
of their group and why he does what he does, ?It was about being somebody in a
neighbourhood of nobodies?.
Within the film there are four main characters; Henry Hill, Karen Hill, Tommy
DeVito, and James Conway. Henry and Karen are the only characters that are
followed throughout the film. On the whole, character development is kept to a
minimum. For instance, many characters are introduced to the viewer during a
walkthrough steadicam shot of a bar. Most of these characters will be seen later on
in the film, but will only in the background of various scenes. The viewer may
recognise these characters but they still know no more about them. Even with the
main characters there are large gaps in time and

Unlike interpersonal psychotherapy, with the use of medication, CBT attains
several forms of intervention and models that can be used for certain situations.
These forms are tailored not only to the affected patient but also toward the patient
s family. There is therapy for the perfect, overprotective, and chaotic family. These
forms all have specifics that set their therapeutic sessions apart, but are similar in
that they all begin with a technique called joining. Joining is basically an
establishment of alliance between the therapist and the family (Killian). Therapists
are advised to discover how the family members feel toward the problem in this
situation. A way of ensuring family involvement would be to set specific guidelines
about the affect patient s behavior and the family s reactions toward the behavior.
For example, a therapist may initiate a plan in which the patient must be responsible
for replacing the family food in which he/she binges on. This activity will enhance
the removal of the rest of the family to be in constant fear for the patient; it will also
allow the patient to begin to regain control of one aspect of his/her life. Common
goals within this type of family include regulation of emotional availability between
the parent(s) and the bulimic patient, facilitation of direct communication, and
negotiation of conflict and its resolution (Killian). Besides interventions, there are
also models that can be used to deal
32. East-West Schism Vs. Eastern Orthodox Christianity
For the first one thousand years of their existence, these churches were the same
institution. The split between the Western and Eastern Christian churches into the
Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches is referred to as the Great Schism
or, more definitively, the East West Schism , which occurred in 1054. This occurred
due to long running cultural and theological differences, power struggles, and lack of
communication. Prominently they argued over what type bread (leavened vs.
unleavened) to use to represent the body of Christ in the Eucharist. Each side had
developed different traditions. But how different are they really? They have so much
in common, what exactly do they believe that made them diverge?
Both the Roman Catholics and the Orthodox Christians agree on which scriptures are
the recognized gospels, on the same seven sacraments/mysteries. They share similar
beliefs of who Mary was and see her as their greatest saint.

At one point or another in one s lifetime, people let go one thing to try and move on
to something bigger and better, whether it s a new job or new way of life. In its
entirety, modernism is similar. It can be defined as moving away from the traditional
creations and activities towards news tasks formed by the individualism and freedom
within a man or woman. For instance, in the poem One Art by Elizabeth Bishop, the
speaker eventually moves on from his previous set of ideas to something new.
Similarly, in anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings, the main
character doesn t feel comfortable with the repetitious structure of the society he s

The poem mentions that God will come down to save the world from dying while
Satan leaves the world, however, modernism always rejected religion, so mention
God and Satan went against the norm of society in that time period. In the current

discussed an imaginary love story as it relates to the author, Sylvia Plath, as she
wrote this poem after she fell into depression due to her husband cheating on her.

On the other side of the debate, people claim that it only matters about what you
think of yourself. But, there is no way to prove if you are actually a transgender.
NBC Washington states, D.C. police have charged a security guard at a Giant
grocery store with simple assault after a transgender woman said the guard forced
her out of the women s restroom. The guard was mistaken because the woman
could not prove anything. She didn t know if this person was a man or a woman
because it is too confusing. She didn t have a permit or a legal document saying
that she was a woman. So, until you can prove that someone is legitly a
transgender, they have to use the bathroom of their birth gender. Genesis 1:26
states And God created man in His image, in His likeness; male and female He
created them . . . . and it was very good. Whether you believe in god or not, this
proves that we were created to be male or female. We were not created to switch.
Whatever created us had the best ideas for us to become successful. We were put
on this earth for a reason, and that reason is not to change between genders. We can
t prove if a person is a transgender, and that adds confusion, and also creates a danger
of sexual assault. Finally, Amanda Prestigiacomo writes, A Seattle man, citing

I won t be a carer any more come the end of the year, and though I ve got a lot out
of it, I have to admit I ll welcome the chance to rest to stop and think and remember.
I m sure it s at least partly to do with that, to do with preparing for the change of
pace, that I ve been getting this urge to order all these old memories (Ishiguro, 34).
Over the course of the novel, and as the film unfolds, the whole story is told in a
series of flashbacks as Kathy reencounters her life. Kathy stumbles over every
difficult memory as she grapples with her life while trying to gear up for donations.
Living in the past may be easier to do rather than digest that her life has reached its
peak. She has outlived Helsham, her best friends, and now is alone to watchover the
dying and wait for her timeto complete. The only way that she can go back and
indulge in a time when things were somewhat easier is by reliving her memories.
There she can experience her time with Tommy on repeat, and learn to muddle
through all the things that she has lost and all that she has left. Kathy balances on
the line of experiencing her past and living in it. Although she claims that when her
time to complete is upon her she will welcome it and will comfort the rest from her
memories, but it seems that she uses the past as a coping mechanism. The past is
easier, she lived it, she had a good life and reliving it gives her a distraction from her
impending fate. It may have been nostalgia at first but then

Ragnarr, must prove to the court that due to the states negligent actions he will
consequently experience economic loss. Causation refers to whether the defendants
conduct (or omission), in this case The State Of Victoria, caused the resulting
harm or damage. The common law of negligence obliges instigation of causation
for the purposefulness of attaching legal accountability. Another element that must
be proven is that it is applicable for the scope of the negligent persons liability to
extend to the harm so caused (scope of liability ). As it is a case of negligence the
onus of proving, on the balance of probabilities, is weighed upon our client, the

case, the outcome would be that the loss suffered by the plaintiff would have only
occurred if the defendant acted negligently, which they did, and therefore if they

humiliated by the State Of Victoria as a result. The court must deliberate whether it
is suitable to extend the scope of the defendant negligence to the harm caused to the
plaintiff and our client, Mr. Ragnarr. The harm that occurred, or similar harm, must
have been foreseeable in order for it to reach within the scope of liability upon the

Fourteenth Century England Revealed by Chaucer Chaucer is one of the most
famous and influential writers in history who was able to paint a picture of society
for the reader. His superb characterization is a big reason why he is so admired.
Chaucer was able to describe a particular segment of society with characters that he
made. Chaucer informs the reader of 14th century England s ranks of society with the
characters in The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer describes the court system of 14th
century England with the use of the characters from the prologue of The Canterbury
Tales. The Knight is a prime example of an idealized member of the court segment
of society. Chaucer uses direct characterization to show the Knight s idealized
values. There was a Knight, A most distinguished man, who from the day on which
he first began to ride abroad had followed chivalry, Truth, honor, generousness, and
courtesy (43 47). This displays how honorable the Knight is because of his value
of chivalry and other good qualities. From this description we can see that there
were at least a few very noble members of society in the court system. The Squire is
another character used to reveal how certain members of the court system lived in
14th century England. The Squire may not be evil, but does not hold the same value
honor of and self sacrifice like the Knight does. The Squire is more self indulgent and

Superman
Superman is known all through the world for being the friend in need of a city
called Metropolis. In each comic book, motion picture, or activity figure at any point
displayed to the general population, Superman is a good looking, solid man who can
overcome all chances consistently. The motion picture Supermanwas a win,
demonstrating how the superhuman spared lives but carried on with a modest life.
As one watches the motion picture, however, he may see the numerous likenesses
between the plot of the motion picture and the account of Christ s coming. Superman,
guardian angel of the city Metropolis, reflects the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.
All through the motion picture Superman, the names and the activities of the
characters were like those of the Holy Bible. Two of the significant name references
to the scriptural form manage Superman (Kah lel) and his dad, Jor el. In the Greek
dialect, the name Jor el signifies God, while the name Kah lel signifies Little God.
Another occurrence where the name diversion is played is on account of
Superman s folks, Martha and John. It doesn t appear as though there is some
other approach to influence these names to be nearer to Mary and Joseph, who are
the guardians of Christ. Zod and Ursula are two different characters show in the

40. Technology Is Making Our World Today
Technology making our world today dystopia Technology is making our world
today a dystopia world. Many people think technology made our world better but to
be honest it made it worst. Here are the reasons why it made it worst and not better.
First it made people lazy, for example before people used to go out and shop, they
used to walk and get some exercises while now they can just order online. Second it
made people spend more money because everything easier to get online now.
People think that technology made our world great but technology is making us a
dystopia. Dystopia a futuristic, imagined universe in which oppressive societal
control and the illusion of perfect society are maintained through corporate,
bureaucratic, technological, moral, or totalitarian control. One form of dystopia is
technological control, we can see this in social media. Social media first started
with Facebook, when Facebook was made back in 2006 everyone went crazy
about it, it was the most popular cite. People used to sit on it for hours and hours
playing games and chatting to people around the world while they are locked in
small room and don t even get to talk to their own family. Fathers stopped taking
their kids to vacations when they have free time they rather sit on Facebook instead
making business or even some of them for fun. Mothers stopped cooking and
cleaning due to social media, parents stopped being closer to their kid. Kids and
teenager become closer to people over the
41. The Optimal Formula For Longevity And Healthiness
It is known that genetics and lifestyle determine health and length of life. The
optimal formula for longevity and healthiness was researched by National
Geographic and National Institute of Aging. The agencies performed a study
examining the lifestyles of individuals who lived to be a hundred years old or more.
People who lived to be hundred years old or more have acquired the name
centenarians. The research indicated centenarians populated the following locations
known as Blue Zones: Ikaria, Greece; Loma Linda, California; Sardinia, Italy;
Okinawa, Japan; and Nicoya Costa Rica. Dan Buettner, geographic reporter, travelled
to the Blue Zones and interviewed centenarians to discover the secret to living
physical and mentally satisfying life. Buettner s interviews revealed nine
commonalities which focused on movement, purpose, mindfulness, nutrition, and
community. Blue Zone Power 9 information is widely published and readily
available, and while 60% of the United Statespopulation will at encounter long term
care facility living, the likely users of Buettner s research would be long term care
facilities. However, the United States long term care facilities do not implement
Power 9 concepts to improve quality of life in long term care settings. This paper
will illustrate with examples how long term care as a whole falls short of providing
a Blue Zone Power9 environment for older adults.
The first Power9 secret to living a longer, fuller life is movement. According to Dan
42. Identity Theft In Water
Today we live in a world where identity theft is on the rise, whether its stealing one s
information for financial gain, use of one s personal information, or even obtain
credentials. Since the attacks on 9/11 on the United States, many organizations and
government agencies have implemented tighten security when it comes to identity.
One of the most important resources to everyone in the world is water. We
technically could not survive on a weekly basis without a certain amount of water.
The possibility of an unauthorized person entering a water utility plan to commit
unlawful acts is much possible. There many chemicals one can buy in your public
store or even online, that can be used to contaminate the water supply of a water
utility plant,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these have implemented biometric technologies of some sort to harden
security within. There many types of biometric technologies available and all their
advantages and disadvantages. The important thing for a water utility facility to
understand is, which technology will best suit their security needs. Although testing
and training will play a vital role in ensuring that the technologies that are
implemented are running proficiently and maintained properly. Terrorism, sabotage,
identity theft will continue to grow over the years but so will biometric
43. Health Assessment Of A Client Essay
Introduction This report will discuss the health assessment of a client who
presented to my PEP facility, Clinic 275. Clinic 275 is a confidential and
complimentary walk in sexual health service which provides medical consultation
/advice, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) (SA
Health 2016a). Ultimately, this paper will illustrate how an ongoing health
assessment, history taking, provision of client education and care options of
certain STIs are fundamental to guiding the planning, implementation and
evaluation of care for specific people. All information regarding the client, who
will be referred to as R, was permitted for use by the facility and will maintain
confidentiality in accordance with the guidelines of the Government of South
Australia (2015, p.7; Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia 2016). On 16/9
/16 R presented to the clinic and upon arrival, completed a form to guide his care
plan (Gulanick Myers 2014, p. 852 7; SA Health 2016a). This form revealed he
was asymptomatic and sought a general sexual health check up. Due to these
reasons, he was triaged to see a registered nurse in a nurse led clinic (NLC). In this
private NLC, a routine interview process was conducted and revealed R to be a
healthy (no notable PMHx) twenty six year old of Indian descent who migrated
from Singapore to Adelaide five months ago. Additional to these demographic
factors, this process also allows for the collection of ones sexual history to determine
44. Analysis Of Regarding Henry
On the topic of psychology Sigmund Freud tells us about his theories of what he
calls the ID , the Ego , and the Superego The ID is the human body s natural state,
which craves pleasure and wants to have anything that it has a craving for,
sometimes doing things that are wrong or childish to be able to have what it wants.
The ego is basically taking what the ID wants and connects it to real life situations
and controls it in real life situations with a sense of judgement. Lastly the superego is
the state that is a harsh judgement of everything that goes on around the person,
which can be good or bad depending on the situation, and is often in conflict with the
ID. In the movie, Henry, the main character shows superego as his natural state...

Before he was shot he was brainwashed into what society wanted to be, but after he
is shot and goes through all of the therapy it basically molded his personality to
what Bradley, his therapist, taught him to be like and what he would have been
like if he was not changed by society. This brings out the best in him and in several
occurrences he is disgusted by the things that he heard that he did before he was
hurt. When he finds out that his wife was cheating on him, he probably would not
have cared as much before, but he was devastated. That was until he found out that
he also was cheating on her and was even planning on leaving her for another
woman at work who confessed her love for
45. Yosemite Research Project
OS X El Capitan 10.11, will be the newest operating system of Mac computers
worldwide. It will succeed Yosemite, which was released last June 2014. If you re
wondering where Apple got the name from, it s from a towering 3,000 foot granite
monolith at the Yosemite National Park (see the pattern?) The release is likely
highly anticipated by most Mac users, considering the few bugs and issues
Yosemite (which is still a fairly good OS) had. If you re planning to upgrade at the
start of the launch and if you re clueless of what the Captain brings, let s get to
know some of its features, capabilities, and other details. When will it be launched?
Apple will roll out El Capitan two weeks after iOS 9 and watchOS release on

Will it perform better than Yosemite? According to Apple and the beta testers, El
Capitan performs better compared to its predecessor (after all, it s an upgrade).

first Spotlight has been fine tuned by Apple: it is smarter and more responsive.
Though you can t order it around like Siri, it now sports natural language search: in
a nutshell, this allows you to search for anything on Spotlight by typing in a
conversational manner, like putting in the word document I worked on last Tuesday
. Unlike Yosemite s Spotlight, the El Capitan version can be resized and moved
around (finally!). It also has improved capabilities for searching sports, weather, and

46. Success On The Internet Is All About Successful Marketing
A simple sales formula in conjunction with the BLM Traders Lead Generation system
will help you accomplish your marketing goals quicker than trying to do it on your
own....or by using only conventional methods of promoting!
Success on the internet is all about successful marketing. When you think about
various ways to market your product or services, you must also consider that there is
a proper sequence of events that must take place to accomplish your sales goals.
Back in the early 70 s when I was just starting to get involved in sales and sales
training, I was privileged to attend a one day training session on the proper sequence
theory. The AIDA model that was taught during that session was a simple process,
however, in my business career, this program has been very effective and profitable
for me personally.
Wikipedia...the free encyclopedia states: AIDA is an acronym used in marketingthat
describes a common list of events that are very often undergone when a person is
selling a product or service. The AIDA model guides organizations by reminding
them that any successful promotional technique must eventually lead to an action, or
the purchase of the product or service. The AIDA sequence was first published in
Strong (1925), who himself attributed the model to St Elmo Lewis (late 19th century).
The internet is a vast array of websites, promoting just about anything and everything
a person could imagine. There are billions of websites trying to capture the
48. The Tokyo Railway Station Building
The Tokyo railway station building is located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan in the
Marunouchi business district. The station which acts as Tokyo s main intercity
terminal is served by the Tokyo Metro network, Japan Railways regional commuter
lines as well as the Shinkansen high speed railway lines. The Tokyo Station also has a
reputation of being the busiest station in the country, judging by the number of trains
it serves per day; approximately three thousand trains in one day. Furthermore, the
trainstation has a hotel and gallery within its premises. In terms of architecture and
historical culture, the station actually has a long history that dates back more than a
hundred years, thereby making it one of the one of the few major examples of
buildings designed in classical style remaining in Tokyo, and Japan as a whole.
Chronicle information of the building Even though the Tokyo Station was
constructed in 1914, its actual plan is connected to the history of Japan s rail in the
1880s (Ito n.p). It is therefore viewed by the Japanese as being significant in the
advancement of rail technology and as a symbolic structure within Japan. By 1885,
several railway tracks were already passing through Tokyo, thereby necessitating the
need for a central terminal to be built in the region between Ueno and Shinbashi. The
station which was to accommodate Tokyo s entire network was simply referred to as
the central terminal (Ito n.p). The project for the Tokyo Station was first offered
