Author Charles Chestnut was one of the most influential and widely respected
African American fiction writers in the United States. He was the first African
American writer of fiction to enlist in the majority white controlled publishing
industry. Much of his work is based off of his examining probes and indictments of
racism. Chestnut expressed his grievances of the integration of African Americans
into white culture in his short stories, novels, and essays. He told most of his stories
from prospective that would not offend, but instead, inform his white readers about
African Americans and how they are defining their identity in America. The question
of identity becomes the focus for American Americans because most of their identity
was lost during slavery. Chestnut s approach to the matter of racial identity has been

Flooding every major media outlet making headlines across the country are school
shootings, it shook the nation when twenty, first graders and six adults were killed
by Adam Lanza, a twenty year old man who shot his mother in the head before taking
her car and driving to Sandy Hook Elementary. Other schoolshooting have occurred
since then and it brought up the issue of guncontrol, some politicians even supported
the idea of giving teachers guns to have in the classroom. I am against allowing
teachers to have guns in the classroom in the name of protection and security.

My initial point of view is adding more guns to a hostile situation by giving teachers
guns does not solve schools security issues in trying to keep children safe. Spending
valuable money should not go into training teachers on how to use a gun, it should
go into educating all staff members and students on emergency drills and lock downs
in case of a school shooting. Even upgrading security systems would be more helpful
in a hostile situation rather than depending on one person killing another to save

Another film technique used to shape my reaction to Bertie is dialogue. Dialogue

Throughout the film sub stories change quickly, narration is the device that covers
the holes. Without narration the viewer would become lost very quickly, and may

For the first one thousand years of their existence, these churches were the same
institution. The split between the Western and Eastern Christian churches into the

famous and influential writers in history who was able to paint a picture of society
for the reader. His superb characterization is a big reason why he is so admired.
Chaucer was able to describe a particular segment of society with characters that he
made. Chaucer informs the reader of 14th century England s ranks of society with the
characters in The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer describes the court system of 14th
century England with the use of the characters from the prologue of The Canterbury
