Our Population Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Our Population" presents a unique set of challenges that delve
into the intricacies of demographics, social dynamics, and global perspectives. The difficulty
arises not only from the vastness of the subject matter but also from the need to balance
statistical data with compelling narratives. Juggling the macro and micro aspects of population
growth, migration patterns, and the associated socio-economic impacts requires careful research
and analytical skills.
Addressing the complexities of population-related issues demands a comprehensive
understanding of various factors, including birth rates, mortality rates, immigration trends, and
the potential consequences of population growth. Furthermore, conveying these ideas in a
coherent and engaging manner adds an additional layer of difficulty. Striking the right balance
between factual information and persuasive arguments can be challenging, especially when
navigating the ethical considerations associated with population control or government policies.
Moreover, the essay must reflect a nuanced perspective that takes into account the diverse
experiences and challenges faced by different regions and communities. Attempting to
encapsulate the global nature of population issues within the confines of an essay adds another
layer of complexity. It requires skillful articulation to ensure that the reader grasps the
interconnectedness of population dynamics and their implications on a broader scale.
In summary, writing an essay on the topic of "Our Population" demands a meticulous approach,
involving extensive research, critical thinking, and effective communication. Balancing the
technicalities of demographic data with the human stories behind the statistics requires a writer
to navigate a complex landscape. While it may be challenging, it also offers an opportunity to
delve into a crucial aspect of our societal fabric and explore potential solutions for a sustainable
future.

The Negative View Of Vlad The Impaler
The negative view of Vlad the Impaler has stemmed from two factors the view of
the Impaler by western historians and western countries in general, and Bram
Stoker s Dracula most western history books and historians tend to focus more on
his deeds than his achievements and triumphs over the Turkish Ottoman Empire.
For example according to a runaway brit article during the middle ages, there was
a German minority living within the region of Transylvania known as the
Transylvanian Saxons. These Germans were mainly merchants who under the
reign of Vlad s father were allowed to trade freely in Wallachia as long as they paid a
tax. According to a LiveScience article by Marc Lallanilla during the reign of the
Impaler they stopped paying said tax.

Urban Moms message board. And by the way, your kid s stroller sucks talks about
judgment, yet on a more extreme level. Briefly, it talks about a blog for mothers in
D.C. to offer insight, advice, etc. on life as a mother in D.C. Unfortunately, it has
morphed into name calling, judging and all out war between mothers. The author
mulls over mothers judging each other by what stroller they use: Bugaboo owners
are rich and fad oriented, MacClaren owners are upper middle class and highly
educated, Graco owners are poor (Washington City Paper). This judgment illustrates
that the society has entered a new stage of the consumption culture where the
symptoms of expensive vice are conventionally accepted as marks of a superior status
(Veblen 71).
The discussion on what stroller to buy corresponds to one mentioned in the book
Nation of Rebels , when Cougars made a boy a laughing stock, as these boots were
not in fashion. Cool has become the central of consumer capitalism (Heath and Potter
188). Mothers want to purchase more expensive strollers not because of their quality,
but because of the brands. The latter has become a sign of status and position in the
society, while the stroller indicates the class to which its owner
Summary Of Hair In Paradise Lost And The Rape Of Lock
Throughout history women were seen as the weaker gender. They were seen to
have no power compared to men. Men however, fall victim to what they cannot
control. This is women s beauty. Hair has been and is one of the most prominent
features of beauty. Hair in these pieces of literature function as an enhancement to
their sexuality and beauty which in itself is a power they hold over men. In the
poems of Paradise Lostand the Rape of Lock, two women who are so alike and so
different both display the same power of the men they are suppose to be inferior to
by manipulating them to carry out tasks they want done, but cannot do on their own
accord. Both of these women knew they were seen as inferior but used men s
weakness to their beauty to deceive them. To begin, it is made evident that women
were created to benifit men. In Paradise Lost, Adamwas made by God as a perfect
image of Him. When God notices that Adam is falling in love with himself, he
realizes he has to create Adam a mate that was also made in a Godly image as
stated on line 299 of Book 4, He for God only, she for God in him . This was the
creation of Eve. Eve set the standard for women, unbeknownst to her, as the
subordinate to men. Not only for the company she offered, but also for the pleasure to
the eye.

it changed the way people looked at the presidents because they really didn t know

people started to see corruption in the highest form. The supreme court was 100%
correct in the decision they made on executive privilege. No one should have so
much power that the law does not matter for them. They shouldn t have more power

I Was A Friend On Facebook Essay
When I added you as a friend on Facebook, I was criticized and advised we had
nothing in common. Yet, none of that mattered to me as I was always down for
another friend. We began hanging at the lake and quickly discovered that we had
everything in common. You became my best friend! I knew I could tell you
anything, and I did. Sometime around the middle of October, something
unfortunate happened in my life. Being the introvert that I am, I never told a soul

was hurting. Problems from my childhood began resurfacing, I began to have
trouble at work, and I was stressed about school. You said I didn t have to take it out

anything, but myself. I will admit my mistake. Yes, I said a bunch of shit. Horrible
things that I would not want anyone to say to me. I really didn t expect to go there.
I was angry, confused, sad, and truly a little jealous. It probably also wasn t a good

Domestic Violence on Women in India
INTRODUCTION :
Violence against women is a manifestation of historically unequal power relations

against women by men and to the prevention of the full advancement of women...
The United Nations Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women,
General Assembly Resolution, December 1993
Since the 1990s, there has been increasing concern about violence against women in
general, and domestic violence in particular, in both developed and developing
countries. Not only has domestic violence been acknowledged worldwide as a
violation of basic human rights, but an increasing amount of research highlights the

The Children and family court advisory and support service in Britain uses the
term domestic violence to refer to a wide range of abusive and violent behavior in
its domestic violence policy . It defines domestic violence as patterns of behavior
characterized by the misuse of power and control by one person over another who
are or have been in an intimate relationship. This is said to occur in all kinds of
relationships ranging from same sex to mixed gender.
In India, human relationships lead to domestic violence when one adult misuses his
power to control another person s life. Violence is primarily the establishment of fear
and control in a relationship through physical and other forms of violence and abuse.
The violence normally manifests as physical abuse, mental torture, sexual assault and
threats. Violence can be more subtle, like degrading someone constantly, depriving
them of money or confining them to the house. Emotional abuse and social ostracism
can be as bad as physical abuse in terms of long term effects.
In NFHS 3, domestic violence is defined to include violence by spouses as well as
by other household members. Thus, information was obtained from ever married
women on violence by husbands and by others, and from never married women on
violence by anyone, including boyfriends.

How Personal Values And Beliefs Influenced The Black...
How Personal Values and Beliefs Influenced the Black American Slave Narrative:
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
Compared.
Throughout the abolition movement, both men and women slaves were trying to
escape from slavery, and find their way to freedom in the North. Many of wrote
their stories down. Some with the aid of ghost writers, and often under pseudonyms
to protect their safety. These slave narratives spoke of the sufferings of the slave
experience in America (Campbell 1). Because black men and black woman
experienced slavery differently, they wrote about them differently. Those
differences can be seen in a comparison of Frederick Douglass s, Narrative of the
Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845), and of Harriet A. Jacobs,
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Written by Herself (1861).
Jacobs and Douglass have similar backgrounds. Both write of their experiences
while enslaved, yet as their narratives are compared a distinction can be made
between the core values and purposes between the two. Douglass s audience is
towards anyone who will listen, and underscores the brutal violence, and
dehumanization of the American slave. Jacob s views are more emotional and
directed towards the upper class white woman whose sympathies she believes will
align with her own as a mother and a woman.
Douglas writes, You have seen how a man was made a slave; you shall see how a
slave was made a man (Douglass).
The Beatitudes Research Paper
Within living in a Christian faith, it is mandatory for all Christians to follow and
respect the acts that Jesus taught us. The Beatitudes are the eight statements of
blessedness spoken by Jesus at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew
5:3 12), each beginning with Blessed are.
1.Blessed are the poor in spirit; theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2.Blessed are the gentle; they shall have the earth for their heritage.
3.Blessed are those who mourn; they shall be comforted.
4.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for what is right; they shall be satisfied.
5.Blessed are the merciful; they shall have mercy shown to them.
6.Blessed are the pure in heart; they shall see God.
7.Blessed are the peacemakers; they shall be called children of God.
8.Blessed are those who are persecuted in the cause of right; theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
Matthew 5:3 10
Jesus Christ gave us the eight Beatitudes in the Reading on the Mount, recorded for
all future generations in the Gospel of Matthew, the first Book of the New Testament
of the Bible. Matthew s Gospel was directed to an audience that believe in Hebrew
tradition. The Gospel of Matthew stressed that Jesus is the Messiah foretold in
Hebrew Scripture, our Old Testament, and that the Kingdom of the Lord is the ...

The media depicts the good life as being the way all Christians should be living by
being, kind, truthful and respecting one another. In all the beatitudes, Jesus promises
us happiness. The word blessed meaning joyful or happy. The Beatitudes are at the
core of Christ s teaching. They fulfil the promise made to the Christian people by
pointing beyond earthly happiness to the eternal happiness of heaven. The reward
promised in each of the Beatitudes is primarily not what would happen on earth, but
in heaven. The Beatitudes reveal the goal that humans aim for, the ultimate purpose

In acknowledging the stated above we replicated a study developed by mead amp;
Hampson (1996) involving the divided visual field paradigm and a phonological
rhyme/non rhyme task to test the speed and accurateness of either side of the
brain. The results of this study show us the brain is not in fact symmetrical and the
two hemispheres in the brain work in different ways. The left hemisphere is
known to play the dominant role, which is in control of all complex behavioural
and cognitive processes as for the right hemisphere it only plays a minor role. This
report will further analyse how different the two hemisphers is the dominant side

Propaganda On The Latest War Essay
Whether it be the drawing on a piece of paper promoting propaganda on the latest
war, a McDonald s commercial on TV, or the 15 second wait before a Youtube
video, advertising is everywhere. And advertisement does not only accompany the
idea of pulling in potential buyers like most people think, but the motive of
advertising can also extend to many more serious topics, such as politics. In a
political debate, the promotion of advertisement is crucial in gathering a crowd that
will lead a presidential candidate for the chance to become the leader of the United
States. But how does one make an ad so appealing that it is able to convert someone s
thoughts to the ones the advertiser wants them to think? While there are many ads
that fail in illustrating the perfect picture, there is a vast number of them that are
successful. Throughout the 2016 Donald J. Trump for President ad, In Donald Trumps
America, the contrast of visualizations, appealing sound choices, and the use of
language are effectively portrayed to develop a strong argument that in the 2016
election of Donald Trump versus Hillary Clinton, Clinton is unsuitable for presidency.
In almost every political advertisement, using contrast of visualizations between
politicians is crucial in trying to persuade more citizens in the United States for their
vote. But how do they do it? In the advertisement, In Donald Trump s America, there
are a few different methods to how they demonstrate a positive representation of
Miserable Routines In Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
There was no way out none. He was a prisoner for life, and now his one ray of light
to be extinguished (Wharton 29). Miserable routines caused by terrible occurrences
trappes Ethan Frome every single day. Edith Wharton opposes the idea of following
any routine. Wharton expresses that routines and cycles prevent a person from
expressing their own desires or achieving their personal goals in life. These cycles
prohibit a person from seeing changes within their environment and possible
opportunities that could improve their life. Even if a person breaks free from a
routine, an endless amount of reasons exist to pull them back in. Ethan Frome
momentarily escapes from his daily routine to pursue his education, but not far into
this break he has to return in order to help his family. Ethan Frome somehow found
a way out of his miserable routine, but failed to take that exit; resulting in a life
much worse than before. Finding a way out seems like a reasonable solution to
escape bad situations, but taking such a great risk to completely change one s entire
life, seems nearly impossible for any citizens of Starkfield. In the novella, Ethan
Frome, Edith Wharton exemplifies how routines deny a person from reaching their
full potential through the constant pull Ethan and other members of Starkfield
receive to follow their normal, average routine and not follow their desires.
The Frome household contained many illnesses over many years, bringing in people

Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald
The 1920s is the decade in American history known as the roaring twenties. Scott
Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby is a reflection of life in the 1920s. Booming
parties, prominence, fresh fashion trends, and the excess of alcohol are all aspects of
life in the roaring twenties.
The booming parties in Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby reflect life in America
during the 1920s. Gatsby displays his prominent fortune by throwing grand parties.

The materialistic nature during the twenties was everywhere. Some Americans
embraced it and some attacked it. For President Calvin Coolidge and his followers
it was embraced: Sharing so visibly in the wealth of society, more and more
Americans came to feel that the booming Coolidge economy was working for them
(Nash 379). The wealthy nation satisfied materialistic Americans and Coolidge
became a prominent leader. For American writers, materialism was attacked and they
questioned the society that placed more importance on money and material goods...
(Nash 390). Leading to their fame in literature, the writers who were concerned with
American materialism moved to Europe. Materialism lead to prominence in 1920s
America just as it did in The Great Gatsby. Gatsby s prominence is an aspect of how
Americans used materialism in the 1920s. One way materialism is shown is through
fashion.
The fashionable clothing flaunted in The Great Gatsby is an example of life in
the 1920s. Gatsby s parties are used as a spacious catwalk for men and women to

Reflection On Special Education
Throughout sequence three, we touched on two main topics: policy and assessing
diverse students. In the policy module, we focused on learning about policies that
will affect all students, including minorities. We went over policies like No Child

policies and others like them played out in the classroom. The objective of the class
was to learn how policy affects teachers and schools at the micro and macro level.
During TLSC 220, we learned about assessing and supporting students with diverse

Teachers are impacted by national policies as well. One of these policies is the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This is a policy that provides
resources for students with disabilities. These services include pull out/push in
teachers, school therapy, extra time, and many others. It keeps public schools
accountable for doing the most they can to protect students with special needs.
This act can impact teachers in different ways as well. It can hinder them because
students are periodically leaving the classroom and missing parts of the lesson to
go to a pull out service or therapy. My student I was observing at St. Benedict had to
leave class for pull out classes every day along with three other students and my
cooperating teacher expressed to us how frustrating it is to have those students gone
for the lesson and then having to teach them separately. These services do, however,
help teachers because the students are getting what they need in school. If they were
not getting special help they might be more disruptive to the rest of the students and
the teachers so overall it is good for them. Other local policies, like IDEA, can
impact both the way students learn and the way teachers teach. Lastly, international
policies have the ability to impact teachers all over the world. Because policies are
different in every country it is impossible for all students to be on the same level at
the same time. For example, in America, most states implement common

Then in the 1980 s came the voyages of rediscovery navigated by Nainoa
Thompson from Hawaii to Tahiti and from Tahiti back to Hawaii. Thompson was
the first Hawaiian to sail this route in over 500 years. The voyages in between took
the Hokule a (some 16000 miles) to the Society Islands, Cook Islands, New Zealand,
Tonga, Samoa and back home via Aitutaki, Tahiti, Rangiroa in the Tuamotu
Archipelago (Baybayan, Kawaharada, 1996). The Hokule a became the symbol of
pride in Polynesian heritage that links all the people of Polynesia together.
In the 1990 s there were more voyages to Marquesan Islands and from the West
Coast of the United States up to Alaska. This is when education became the focus of
the voyages of the Hokule a. They then built the Hawaiilo a, another Polynesian
voyaging canoe, this one made of traditional materials. The Hawaiilo a added to the
curiosity and the revival of culture throughout the world. The natives of all ands
throughout the world are figuring out the importance of their cultures and bringing
back the knowledge. Now all cultures worldwide can help each other save the past
and use it for the future.

Time Stealers
By tracking my time for one week I discovered I have more time than I think. My
168 hour week was broken down into seven categories; maintenance, work,
education, family/friends, goof off, personal and group time. In viewing the total
hours spent in each category I see that I need to change my priorities.
The maintenance category consumes forty four percent of my time. I found many time
stealers that distract me from doing what I planned (Facebook, texting, phone). In
addition to time stealers, I found that I m easily distracted from one task to another.
An example would be while loading the dishwasher I notice a smudge on a kitchen
window, so I ll clean the window, well I can t just clean one kitchen window; I need
to clean them all. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of time spent on education will fluctuate weekly due to the complexity
of the assignments. The percentage of time spent on education is acceptable, no
change is needed.
Currently zero time is spent in the group time category. Working full time and
going to school I do not have the energy to dedicate any time to participate in a
group. I spent six years as a volunteer at a local animal shelter socializing animals,
chairing fundraisers and being on the Board of Directors; due to burn out I decided
to resign. I enjoy volunteering and view it as an important part of one s life; I plan to
dedicate time to the group category after this semester.
Goof off time represents ten percent of my time. The main activities represented in
this category are surfing the internet and watching T.V. My return on investment for
watching T.V. is very high. I tend to watch documentaries and historical based
programs such as Victoria on PBS. Unfortunately I spend far too much time aimlessly
surfing the internet, the consequences of which is wasted time that could be better
spent in another category. To help me lower the amount of wasted time on the net, I
ve put a sticky note on my computer that reads, Time

The Pros And Cons Of Wolves
In May, 2016, 20 calves were killed and not eaten in four days in the area of the
Absaroka Mountains, outside of Pinedale Wyoming. (Urbigkit ,2016) However, it
doesn t stop there, every day livestock and wildlife are killed and rarely eaten by
wolves in almost every western state. This is a problem that needs to be addressed
before ranchers lose their herds, and before the wild herds are depleted beyond
restoration. If the wolf situation was bad a couple years ago, well now it s worse,
even some of the protectors of wildlifeare starting to come to their senses. Livestock
is the most expensive prey that wolves can get to, and the problem is that they get
to them very easy and can escape because they have no reason to come back to the kill

Wolves need to be managed and if they are not addressed they will continue to roam
free of charge and deplete the livestock herds. Even beyond that our generation of
families won t feel safe letting our grandchildren run around. The wolves have mass
killed 19 elk in one night, slaughtered countless numbers of livestock and in places
threatened people. In the rural town of Reserve, New Mexico kids wait for the bus
in wooden and metal cages, meant to protect the kids from wolf attacks. (Toft,
2016). You may think is this is unnecessary, until you see and hear about the wolves
growling and snarling at the frightened children. If this doesn t change your
opinions on wolves maybe you should sit in the cage and live in the wild with them.
It s a sad time when the most important thing you walk out of the house with is not
your coat or anything it s your weapon, so you can defend your family, home, and
livelihood. As communities and stewards of the land our duty is to protect as well as
manage, we as hunters are managing, however the wolves are not being managed
correctly, and are getting away with the minor scolding of words that they cannot
comprehend from the government. I m not saying eradicate them but certainly allow
the ranchers and such to shoot wolves, and for the government to take charge and

Vard The Evolution Of The Film Genre
Films are divided by different genres a French word meaning type or kind (Neale
Stephen, 7), including melodrama, comedy, and tragedy. Genre has occupied an
important place in the study of the cinema for over thirty years. One of the biggest
genres that has been evolved over the years and has many implications is
melodrama. As a theatrical genre, melodrama came into existence in the late
eighteenth century in France and Germany (Neale Stephen, 184). In the following
century melodrama genre has spread and developed quick from France to Britain,
America, and the rest of Europe. The melodrama initial definition was both formal
and specific: melodrama was a dramatic passage, scene or play in which at first

Motives Behind Honor Killings
Some people believe that an individual s cultural background and family beliefs
explain motives behind honor killings. The cultural interpretation explains that
honor killings are qualitatively different from other kinds of murders because it is
governed by the specific logic of an honour culture . Honor killings are acceptable
because they are part of a culture and support ethical agendas. For example, in
Turkey, namus represents sexual honor which overshadows women s physical and
moral qualities. Women are expected to protect their namus for their whole life. Male
kin also have a duty to watch over women and punish them if they deviate. The
cultural defense is used to explain motivations behind the defendants actions. Men

The Girl Who Loved The Sky, By Anita Endrezze
In Anita Endrezze s poem The Girl Who loved the sky we read about two best
friends that meet inside a second grade room (1). There with very different
characteristics they learn that overall they are more alike than they think. They are
able to relate to one another by their views of the world around them. The speaker in
the poem is growing up without a father and her friend is blind. Both forced to grow
up with an important element missing from their lives. They overcome this tragic
part of their childhood and relay on their friendship to feel safe (39). As the speaker
continues to explain their relationship, we feel their connection. We get the sensethat
they are able to understand each other and have the ability to view the world around
them in the same way.
Throughout the poem the extended use of imagery by the writer allows the reader
to relate and sense how we might view the world if we had lost our sight. We are
able to see the world in a different manner. In addition to the imagery of the world
we read about throughout the poem we also see the writer uses imagery to
describe the characters. For example, the writers use of imagery for the description
of the blind girl gives the reader a vision of a warm hearted girl, that views the
world through all of her other senses. As described by the speaker upon their first
encounter in lines 18 21 I met a blind girl who thought the sky Tasted like cold metal

Bilingual Education In Australia
Australia is a Multicultural country and as such, many students come to school
speaking languages other than Standard Australian English (SAE). They must
develop proficiency in SAE to obtain equal access to classroom learning across the
curriculum. Educating these students relies heavily on teachers having the
knowledge and ability to teach English as an Additional Languageor Dialect (EAL/D)
Throughout the course of this semester I have used the discussion board to reflect on
my knowledge and attitudes towards people who come from different linguistic and
cultural backgrounds. I have discussed the difficulties involved with EAL/D students,

One reason for this is because it has less status in education than written language. In
my learning activity (Appendix C) the assessment strategy used was to focus on
students clarity, expression and tone. Derewianka (1992) acknowledges that while
these features are important up to a point, they should not become the focus of the
assessment. A better approach would be to incorporate eye contact, body language
and gestures while at the same time being aware of culture specific behaviours. For
example, maintaining eye contact may be considered impolite in some
International Competitiveness Of General Mills And Nestle

forces in CPW
The two companies, General Mills and Nestle in this joint forum can achieve
international competitive advantage and profits by using each other s strengths and
core competencies.
General Mills being the second largest cereal producer in North America boasts about
its technical excellence and marketing expertise extended from the past 90 years in
cereal market. Even though General Mills is less recognized in its domestic market
they are enriched with an active product range globally. For an example 16% of the
total sales were from outside of the USA in the year 2006.

How CPW can create a blue ocean strategy.
Creating a blue ocean strategy is highly challenging for CPW with a market leader
like Kellogg s Company. In a rapidly changing environment where people are
moving more in to fast foods, on the go breakfast like ready to eat breakfast bars,
muffins and bagels and neglecting their breakfast can lead to a challenge for all the
cereal companies. The fast food chains like KFC and McDonald s increasing their
market shares act as entrants of substitutes and alternative products which have led to
a threat for breakfast cereal producers.
By analyzing these modernized trends in different cultures around the world, blue
ocean strategies as below can be implemented by CPW.
a.Launching Cereal Breakfast Bars
Launching small size breakfast cereal bars which will serve different types of
breakfast cereals in bowls. This can also be extended to a franchising model.
Coming to an agreement with the existing fast food chains such as KFC and
McDonald s for an opportunity of serving cereals in their franchises will also be a
good strategy.

The Cosmological Argument
The Cosmological Argument
An important argument to try and prove the existence of God is the Cosmological
Argument brought on by observations of the physical universe, made by Saint
Thomas Aquinas, a thirteenth century Christian philosopher. The cosmological
argument is a result from the study of the cosmos; Aquinas borrows ideas from
Aristotle to make this systematically organized argument. Aquinas first point begins
with the observation that everything is moving. Aquinas says that everything that
moves must be moved by another moving thing, which has to be moved by another
moving thing and so on. This cannot be infinite though, because consequently the
motion of the series would have no origin, and the origin of this series cannot ... Show

But David Hume, a Scottish philosopher, objected to Aquinas second point by
arguing that if each individual link in the chain of causes and motions can be
explained then there is no need for an additional explanation for the whole of the
chain. The explanation of each part is enough of an explanation for the whole itself.
But defenders say that the discovery of the Big Bang theory would be the beginning
of the causes and motions in the universe and is not infinite, so infinite regress would
not be possible.
A third objection to the cosmological argument as a whole is that Aquinas insists that
everything has a cause; if that is true, then what caused God? There being an
uncaused cause would be a contradiction to Aquinas whole argument that everything
has a cause yet God has no cause. But Aquinas defends his argument by saying that
only everything in our universe has a cause because everything in our universe is a
limited, dependent being. That still would require an uncaused, neither finite, nor
dependent being unlike anything in our universe, God. Critics also object that the
cosmological argument does not prove a loving and personal God, but Aquinas would
probably respond by stating that this wouldn t prove his argument is wrong, only that
it has a limited purpose. I think between the two arguments, Cosmological and
Ontological, the cosmological

How Mergers Affect The Economic And Financial Power
Of...
Mergers have become a main aspect within the market economies, resulting in
consequences that are potentially conflicting due to the stiff competition among
different businesses (Richard Yekini, 2014, p. 54). The conventional economic
theory suggests that mergers are likely to raise the level of monopoly, hence leading
to reduced competition and lower economic efficiency. The truth is that they can
boost the effective level of competition within the monopolistic environment where
size is an important factor. This means that in the case of markets that have a small
number of large producers that are involved in competition, mergers can play a
vital role in increasing the economic and financial power of smaller firms. This
enables the small firms to compete favourably with the larger ones. Therefore,
mergers are able to produce a countervailing force to fight the leading firms, putting
more pressure on them, and making them look for other ways to constantly make
improvements in their efficiency. This is similar to the way many small businesses
behave as a result of competition in highly competitive markets. This paper
elaborates the reasons that motivate firms to take over or merge with other firms and
the effects of this, both to the employees and the firms involved (Su Wells, 2014,
p.46). This will be established by examination of specific recent acquisition or merger
cases within EU member countries, putting into consideration a number of these
aspects. The major driver
Essay on Punishment and the Prodigal Son of The Holy
Bible
Punishment and the Prodigal Son
In American Society today, there exists a feeling that those who have transgressed,
whether against individuals, family members, or society at large, need to be held
responsible for their actions. The more severe the transgression, the more severe the
punishment. It is not unheard of in these times, for example, that a parent may let
his or her child spend a few nights in jail in order to teach them a lesson . Even if the
child seems to understand the severity of his or her actions, and shows regret for
these actions, punishment may still be dealt out in the name of tough love . In The
Parable of the Prodigal Son, Jesus seems to suggest that punishment is unnecessary

The younger son is reckless and brash, without a care for the consequences, and soon
discovers the fate that befalls such irresponsible behavior, returning home destitute.
Jesus, through this parable, challenges us to consider the correct response to the
prodigal son.
With today s morals and sense of responsibility, the elder son would be heralded as
the ideal son someone who is frugal, reliable, and stable. The younger son, however,
might be called the black sheep of the family tolerated because of bloodlines, easily
dismissed, and held up as a bad example to the younger members of the family. The
younger son would not be easily re accepted by his family without first paying
some kind of penance, regardless of his confessed remorse. In this parable, the
prodigal son s self decided punishment of apology and servitude to his father would
not seem unreasonable. However, he is unconditionally accepted by his father,
without punishment. His father is so overjoyed to have his son back that he throws
a celebration in his son s honor, which offends his dependable older son s sense of
right and wrong.
This complete forgiving by the father may be hard to accept, unless one considers
that the prodigal son, according to the parable, has already been redeemed. And when
he came to himself... (Luke 15:17) suggest that the

Netflix also has the competitive advantage because the company pays postage on
all DVD s that are shipped to and from a subscribers home. Then by including
unlimited streaming, Netflix provides even more incentive for subscribers to
enroll in a plan because they have the ability to watch over 14,000 movies and TV
shows while they wait for their next DVD to arrive in the mail. This offers a
competitive advantage because subscribers do not have to pay any additional fees
for the streaming. The idea of a free one month trial is something that attracts many
prospective subscribers to the Netflix approach. Whenever a subscriber signs up
for Netflix, the company automatically enrolls them to have their first month free
as a type of try before you buy incentive. If the subscriber does not like the service
they have signed up for, all they need to do is cancel before their first month is up
and Netflix cancels their subscription. This provides the company with an
advantage over their competitors because it alleviates any skepticism of how the
process works therefore building the necessary trust from subscriber to company. 2.

Feedback Given During Motor Learning
Feedback given during motor learning provides the information we need to
produce and correct our movements to allow correct execution of a skill. Without
feedback we would not be able to correctly perform movements as simple as
walking or as difficult as hitting a baseball. Feedback allows us to see the outcome
of our movement and how we need to adjust our motions to perform the movement
correctly. The feedback we as humans rely heavily on is visual feedback; the access
to visual feedback helps us in our everyday lives, and without it we would be much
less efficient in daily skills and activities. Previous research done in the motor control
area has shown that feedback does help learn a new task, but a lot of the previous
research relies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A gap in this research is how this feedback affects the learning of a new skill over a
long period of time. There are not many studies that provide long term evidence to
show support for feedback while learning a new skill; this could be because it is
costly to conduct such experiments, and it is also hard to find participants who are
able and willing to participate in these studies. This study will not be conducted
over a long period of time, but further research still needs to be done to see if
feedback during a learning phase affects the amount of retention over a long period of
time.
Does the inclusion of feedback while learning a new motor skill help in the
performance of the skill? During this study I aim to conduct further research on how
the use of feedback can affect the performance and retention of a new skill by using
both statistical analysis and participant questionnaires. I hypothesize that the analysis
will provide statistically significant evidence to prove that visual feedback does
provide helpful information while learning a new skill, and I also hypothesize that
the questionnaire will provide evidence that participants prefer to have the feedback
because it allows them to correct their movements and learn the skill properly.

The disease came from Hong Kong at the first time in 1997, the H5N1 strain of
avian influenza virus was first documented, when it caused severe respiratory
problems in 18 humans, of whom six died. Characteristics of the pathogen of avian
influenza are from the water birds such as wild ducks and the viruses are carried

(poo). Migratory birds infected with the virus could potentially spread the bird flu
to any of the countries they visit. The avian influenza virus can more frequently kill
domesticated birds, such as chickens and turkeys. Besides, humans who have close
contact with sick birds are at risk of infection with bird flu. For example a person
may handle a sick bird, contaminate their hands with chicken faeces, and forget to
wash their hands before eating. They will then ingest the infected bird faeces. This is

Castles would be expensive and take a long time to build, making it only available
to the rich and powerful. The first castles that were built during the arrival of the
Normans were the Motte and Bailey Castles, which then progressed into the
Concentric Circle Castles. Motte and Bailey Castles were the first castles brought by
the Normans in 1066. They were wooden and kept on an an artificial mound called a
motte (Johnson). The castlewould be surrounded by an enclosed courtyard called a
bailey. The whole area would be surrounded by a ditch and palisade for extra
protection (Johnson). The mote would be used as a final fighting destination when
the castle itself had been breached. Many of the Motte and Bailey Castles were built
on river crossings and crossroads because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people needed stronger, more durable castles so they would be protected. The
Concentric Circle Castles were much superior to the Motte and Bailey Castles.
The Motte and Bailey Castles were made out of wood, which made it effortless to
burn down. Concentric Circle Castles were made out of stone, so it was not as
easy to burn it. Concentric Circle Castles could last in rainy weather, which Motte
and Bailey Castles could not. Concentric Circle Castles were a lot taller and bigger,
and had more security. One of the features of the castle was the ability to attack from
the inside. This made it easier to handle attacks. Since methods of attacking castles
improved as time went on, this was a major necessity when building a castle. The
Motte and Bailey Castles turned into Concentric Circle Castles, which was helpful to

Roman Twelve Tables
The Roman republic had set a specific set of laws that each person was suppose to
abide by. These set of laws were known as the Twelve Tables. After reading the
selections from the Twelve Tables, I gather that the Roman society was very strict
and harsh, and its conception of justice was more based on punishment than it was
on negotiating the situation and coming to a clear resolution. The Romans were
more blunt with their punishments, they saw black and white , no grey area when
making decisions in court, which means that everything was a yes or no, no one
person had the opportunity to talk about any of their crimes, it was straight to
punishment, or if they were found to be not guilty then they were not punished. In
Table IV : Rights of Head of Family, it expresses just how cruel they were, Quickly
kill... a dreadfully deformed child (Spielvogel p. 116). In my opinion, this law is
wicked because no one should be killed just because of the way that they look,
especially if they were born that way and can not help it. Before the Twelve Tables,
there were major problems and struggles. Both of the groups, patricians and
plebeians, were able to vote, but only the patricians were granted the right to be
elected to government positions. They were both able to make legal agreements and
have marriages, but it was forbidden for a patricianand a plebeian to intermarry. There
was conflict amongst Rome because everyone wanted the right to be equal, and they
were not being treated

Evaluation Of A Form Of Manual Therapy ( Mt ) Affects...
Specific aim: The aim of this study is to examine if spinal mobilization (SM), a form
of manual therapy (MT) affects conditioned pain modulation (CPM) among adults
with chronic idiopathic neck pain (CINP).
Scope of the problem: Why is the study important?
Chronic neck pain is common, costly, and a leading cause of disability. Literature
suggests that ascending pain pathways (i.e. pain pressure threshold or PPT) and/or
descending pain pathways (i.e. CPM) may be impaired in those with chronic pain
[please see Appendix for illustration of ascending and descending pain pathways].
Spinal mobilization (SM), a form of MT, is a common treatment that has been
effective in relieving neck pain according to Cochrane Review (Gross et al 2015). A
recent systematic review (Coronado et al 2015) concluded that although the pain
relief from MT seems to improve PPT; the pain relief, however, is not associated
with PPT, a measure of the ascending pain pathways. Whether the pain relief from
SM is due to its effects on the descending pain pathways (e.g. CPM) is not known at
this time.
CPM is a method to test one s endogenous descending pain inhibition status. It is a
simple test that uses a second painful stimulus to identify if a person has a normal
functioning CPM or not. Pressure pain threshold (PPT) is a measure of (ascending
and descending pain pathways) pain sensitivity and is a part of the CPM testing
protocol. There is research indicating that one session of MT has improved PPT and
Billie Holiday Research Paper
No two people on earth are alike, and it s got to be that way in music or it isn t
music. This little known quote is from none other than Billie Holiday. These words
of hers serve accurately to show that she was aware that in order to thrive in the
music world, you had to be different. She was an African American female vocalist
beginning in the 1930 s. Holiday was not privileged, yet she still managed to make an
impact on the musicworld with her unique, almost rugged voice and meaningful
lyrics that caused her listeners to do a double take.
Billie Holiday was born on April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia. Her legal name, Elinore
Harris, was later replaced with several other names, but Billie Holiday (Bill), a
nickname her father had given her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time and drugs added an even more gravely tone to Holiday s voice, but her vocals
still come out in a beautiful and unique way. The beat behind Holiday s vocals is
no longer fast paced and upbeat. For the majority of the recording, all that is
played behind her voice is a piano, other than a few trumpet solos. The song lyrics
in Strange Fruit can be seen as being more artful than entertaining; this is certainly
not a song you would dance to. She graphically illustrates African American bodies
hanging from poplar trees (lynching) with phrases like, the bulging eyes and
twisted mouth, here is fruit for the crows to pluck, and the sudden smell of burning
flesh. As discussed previously, she leaves silences between phrases for the listener
to digest the scenario she is producing. Jazz critic Ralph suggests that she was a
sort of living lyric to the song Strange Fruit , hanging not on a poplar tree, but on
the limbs of life itself. (Gill, 2015). It is evident that she sang this song with
passion and soul. No longer did she have to play for swing bands in which she was
intended to show off. She gained the ability and reputation to sing what she felt
passionate about. She grew into a vocalist who made her own rules and had settled
into her very own style. Over a century has gone by since the birth of the legendary
jazz vocalist, Billie Holiday. Holiday faced never ending adversity on her journey,
but stopped at nothing to gain stardom. Her legacy inspires other artists to sing what
they are passionate about and never give up, even if society and fate want them to.
Music styles have changed but her influence and unique style have not been
Example Of Intraoperative Complications

age В± standard deviation (SD) of 54В±11 years, and a range from 25 up to 70
years. The male to female ratio was nearly 2:1. Table 1 summarizes the
preoperative visual acuity and IOP. 2) Intraoperative complications Table 2
summarizes the intraoperative complications which can be attributed to the 20 G
transconjunctival trocar system. More than 75% of our cases did not develop any
intraoperative complications. Complications occurred only in 14 cases; of these, the
most common complication was slippage of the cannula, occurred in 8 cases (14%);

Suturless vitrectomies carry an increased risk of leakage from the sclerotomy site.
Such excessive leakage can raise the risk of infection and hypotony (5). So, in our
study we used 20 G transconjunctival trocar system with suturing of the conjunctiva
and sclera by one suture for each sclerotomy to avoid the risk of leakage and its
complications. In our study more than 75% of cases did not develop any
intraoperative complications. Complications occurred only in 14 cases; of these,
the most common complication was slippage of the cannula, occurred in 8 cases
(14%); followed by trauma to the lens, seen in 4 cases (7%) and lastly retina
incarcerated in the cannula in only 2 cases (3.5%). This was similar to study done
by Spierer et al, as in their study intraoperative complications included premature
dislodging of the cannulas in two sclerotomies. The cannulas were reinserted with a
trocar through the same opening without any additional complications (6). Retinal
incarceration in the trocar system was reported in our study (2 cases) and can be
attributed to the malfunction of the trocar valve leading to rapid flow of fluids
through the trocar at the time of instruments exchange. As we were re sterilizing the
trocar system several times by flash autoclave, the valve system became loose and
not effective. So, we concluded from this point that re sterilized trocar should not
Wesfarmers Case Summary
When it comes to risks, Wesfarmers outlined some risks that would influence the
company. The report highlighted strategic, operational, regulatory, and financial.
There is no doubt that they are all crucial risks, however, they are generic risks, and I
believe there are other certain risks faced by each division.
Competition was one major risk for Coles group. Although, the competition was
getting more aggressive against Woolworths and Aldi, Coles was disciplined to its
growth strategies to continue improving its fresh offer, liquor business, and Coles
express, and that strategy gave Coles the competitive advantage over Woolworths to
record an increase of market share over its major rival Woolworths. Coles recorded an
increase in revenue, EBIT, and ROCE.

K mart was another successful business for Wesfarmers recording 18 per cent
increase in earnings in 2015. Remaining focused on its price leadership and
investment in the store network were the two main strategies to increase the sales
volume and minimise arising risks like exchange rate fluctuation and competition.
Target experienced a significant drop in earnings over the last four years. Two major
risks caused that drop, which were impairment of execution of transformation plan
and re building customer trust. Target started a transformation plan two years ago
focusing on fixing the basics, improving sourcing, driving supply chain efficiencies
to improve the stock availabilities and reduce prices to be affordable for the whole
family. In 2015, Target achieved an increase in earnings over 2014, although the
reduction in revenue and that considered a success for the transformation
Why Do Some Kids Get Enough To Eat Free By Anna
Quindlen

The author Anna Quindlen purpose for writing School s out for summer is to show
that some kids don t get enough to eat. She says that some parents can t afford
services that give out free lunches like day camps, school programs, and the Y
community center. During the school year fifteen million students get free or cut rate
lunches at school, and many of them get breakfast too. But only three million
children are getting lunches through the federal summer lunch program. This is very
effective because she has support that will back her up on her side of this essay.
Some kids don t get enough to eat, no matter what people want to tell themselves.

Comparing Julius Caesar And Antony
Octavian and Antony No contemporaries could have possibly known for sure as to
who the victor would be from the conflict that arose between Gaius Julius Ceasar
Octavianus, Octavian, and Marcus Antonius, Antony. However, knowing what the
ultimate outcome of the struggle was, one may be able to look back into history
and offer key reasons as to why Octavian was able to defeat Antony. Ultimately, I
believe there was not one key reason for Octavian victory. It was a combination of
Octavian s proximity to Rome, his favor with the citizens, and the elimination of his
opposition at home that all combined to allow his eventual triumph. Overlooking
some smaller details, it is first important to know that after Julius Ceasar s
assassination that Octavian was named his heir and returned to Italy to claim this
inheritance. From here, he gathered military power and allowed the senate to use
him, in order to advance his political position, and he was sent to fight against a
rebellious Antony. At this point, Octavian did not try to decimate Antony s forces,
instead he proposed and ultimately formed the second triumvirate with Antony and
Lepidus as the other heads of the state (Wells 13). From here, the Roman territories
were divided into areas of governorship with Antony taking the east, Octavian the
west, and Lepidus had the Africa territories (Wells 17). This would turn out to be one
of the main contributing factors in Octavian s ultimate success; for it allowed him the
opportunity
Autonomy
The advent of autonomous systems has been great for a rise in the production of
humanity. This improvement in productivity is achieved by increasing the number of
systems in each persons control. The processing capability of humans is limited
which limits the amount of attention to be devoted to each system. This can be
overcome by adding intelligence to the systems allowing them to operate in
autonomous and semi autonomous modes. Autonomy is a major factor in
determining the effectiveness of the human machine team. The disparate way
autonomy has been conceptualized in human machine interaction is due to the
multidisciplinary nature of the field. Systems of varying degrees of autonomy have
been applied to a range of applications, such as domestic
Fate In A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens, who wrote A Christmas Carol, centered the monumental novella
around Ebenezer Scrooge, a penny pinching and avaricious moneylender. In order for
Scrooge to change his fate, he must maintain the Christmas Spirit all year long.
Throughout the story, three pansophical specters show Scrooge multiple scenes from
his existence, hoping that he gains knowledge and changes before he ends up like the
rest of the phantoms. The Ghost of ChristmasPast, Present, and Yet to Come assist
Scrooge into becoming a charitable and selfless person who cares for the
underprivileged. The first spirit, The Ghost of Christmas Past, greets Scrooge
through the curtains of his bedside at one o clock in the morning. Gaining the ability
to fly, Scrooge and the ghost visit the countryside, where Scrooge spent his
childhood. He is shown his dilapidated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ghost shows Scrooge a scene of businessmen discussing the death of a wealthy
man. He is also shown a group of people who are illegally selling the items of the
dead man to a pawn shop, as well as a poor couple who are beyond relieved that the
man passed away because they owed him money. Scrooge also finds out that the
Cratchit family is mourning over the death of Tiny Tim, their crippled son. At
first, Scrooge does not realize who the dead man is, but finally realizes that it is
himself. If he does not change his ways, his death would be unnoticed and uncared
for and Tiny Tim will die. Scrooge begs for mercy and forgiveness and begins to
apologize for his wrongdoings. Throughout the whole story, Scrooge learns his
mistakes and vows to change his attitude and actions. By the end of the novella,
Scrooge promises to live in the past, present, and future, and becomes a generous man
with a big heart. Charles Dickens wrote this book to spread Christmas Spirit in a time
of poverty, and to inspire the rich to help the poor. God Bless Us, Every
Essay on Intercultural Communication
Today, we live in a culturally diverse society due to globalization. As our world
grows, expands and become increasingly more interconnected, the need for effective
interpersonal communication among differing cultures has become apparent. When
people from different cultures interact with one another there is intercultural
communicationbecause different cultures create different interpretation and
expectations about what is seen as competent behaviors that will enable the
construction of shared meanings.
There are numerous definitions of culture but I will use the definition of the
interpretive approach and Clifford Geertz s, which defines culture as a meaning
system which members use to interpret the world around them. Culture ... Show more

However, many of the group based stereotypes are incorrect and generalizing and it
promotes further misunderstandings and prejudice. Prejudice is having a false
attitude toward an out group in comparison to one s in group. Prejudiced individuals
are prejudging without knowing any information about the Others (Rogers and
Steinfatt).
According to Allport, the process of categorization is the basis to develop
prejudice and stereotypes. People think in categories and the mind forms groups
and classes to guide our daily actions. Dahl also verifies that the predictions we
make about Others is based on stereotypes and that this is necessary and it is a
process that we cannot avoid. If categorization is a natural cognitive process and all
categorization leads to generalization, then stereotype is also a natural cognitive
process. Categories are necessary to give meaning to our reality and to create
structure, however they are flexible and they change. On the other hand
stereotypes seem to give us a feeling of order and security but they are inflexible
and try to reinforce one particular image over others. Stereotypes still persist even
when we know better because they help to create a positive self image and they are
to a large degree attached to ideologies (Christoffanini). Furthermore, we represent
Others by using language or images, which allow us to portray Others in ways
The Acidic Environment Around Us
The environment around us is certainly acidic. Even though people often think the
air around us is neutral, the atmosphere naturally contains acidic oxides of carbon,
nitrogen and sulfur that can harm our environment greatly. These oxides can be
produced naturally and industrially. Sulfur dioxide is produced when organic
matter decomposes and forms hydrogen sulphide which then oxidises to the oxide:
2H2S (g) + 3O2 (g) 2SO2 (g) + 2H2O. The natural sources of sulfur dioxide are in
volcanic gases, bushfires, sulfur rich geothermal hot springs releasing gases and
the decomposition of organic matter. The industrial sources of sulfur dioxide such
as in processing and burning of fossil fuels and extracting metals from sulfur rich
ores such as smelting of galena for lead: 2PbS (s) + 3O2 (g) 2PbO (s) + 2SO2
Nitric oxide is another oxide in the atmosphere that is formed when nitrogen and
oxygen react due to high temperatures of lightning: N2 (g) + O2 (g) 2NO (g). Other
sources of nitric oxide from industrial sources include the combustion of fossil fuels
both in cars and in power stations. The nitrogen in the air reacts with oxygen in the
hot engines. Another oxide that occurs in the atmosphere is nitrogen dioxide which is
produced after nitric oxide is produced by lightning and reacts with the oxygen in the
air: (2NO (g) + O2 (g) NO2 (g)), it is also released in large volumes in the atmosphere
by power stations. Nitrous oxide is an oxide that occurs on root nodules of legume
Northwestern Indians Character Analysis
Character of Northwestern Indians
Among other falsehoods it has been asserted confidently, but without a shadow of
argument or fact to sustain the assertion, that they cannot be brought to a state of
civilization, or be induced to form communities and engage in the pursuits of
agriculture and the arts, in consequence of some physical difference between them
and the Anglo Saxon race. This hypothesis is contradicted by experience, which has
abundantly shown that the two races, when placed in the same situation, and acted
upon by the same causes, have invariably resorted to the same expedients and
pursued the same policy.
As long ago as 1724, the Jesuit Father Lafitan wrote of the Indians, and stated that to
his own experience he added that of Father Gamier, who had lived ... Show more

In the Relation de Nouvelle France, published in 1633, there is a curious story of
an incident, which took place at Quebec. A party of Indians, watching a French
drummer boy beat his drum, pressed more closely around him than he liked, and he
struck one of the Indians in the face with his drumstick so sharply that the blow
drew blood. The Indians, much offended, went to the interpreter and demanded
apologies and a present, according to their custom. No, said the interpreter, our
custom is to punish the offender; we will punish the boy in your presence. When
the Indians saw the child stripped for the flogging they began immediately to beg
for his pardon; but as the soldiers continued their preparations for whipping the lad,
one of the Indians suddenly stripped himself and threw his robe over the boy, crying
out, Scourge me, if you choose, but do not strike the boy The good Father Le Jeune,
who tells this story, adds that this unwillingness of the Indians to see any child
chastised will probably occasion trouble to us in the design we have to instruct their

Our Population Essay. Essay on world population SAC Homberg

  • 1. Our Population Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Our Population" presents a unique set of challenges that delve into the intricacies of demographics, social dynamics, and global perspectives. The difficulty arises not only from the vastness of the subject matter but also from the need to balance statistical data with compelling narratives. Juggling the macro and micro aspects of population growth, migration patterns, and the associated socio-economic impacts requires careful research and analytical skills. Addressing the complexities of population-related issues demands a comprehensive understanding of various factors, including birth rates, mortality rates, immigration trends, and the potential consequences of population growth. Furthermore, conveying these ideas in a coherent and engaging manner adds an additional layer of difficulty. Striking the right balance between factual information and persuasive arguments can be challenging, especially when navigating the ethical considerations associated with population control or government policies. Moreover, the essay must reflect a nuanced perspective that takes into account the diverse experiences and challenges faced by different regions and communities. Attempting to encapsulate the global nature of population issues within the confines of an essay adds another layer of complexity. It requires skillful articulation to ensure that the reader grasps the interconnectedness of population dynamics and their implications on a broader scale. • 4. The Negative View Of Vlad The Impaler The negative view of Vlad the Impaler has stemmed from two factors the view of the Impaler by western historians and western countries in general, and Bram Stoker s Dracula most western history books and historians tend to focus more on his deeds than his achievements and triumphs over the Turkish Ottoman Empire. For example according to a runaway brit article during the middle ages, there was a German minority living within the region of Transylvania known as the Transylvanian Saxons. These Germans were mainly merchants who under the reign of Vlad s father were allowed to trade freely in Wallachia as long as they paid a tax. According to a LiveScience article by Marc Lallanilla during the reign of the Impaler they stopped paying said tax.

Urban Moms Many Americans rate back and imagine life with fewer, a privileged opposition in the high income sphere have brought their worries and sometimes trivial arguments online, where they have different discussions in the Web like how someone should teach a child, why people with high income do not actually feel rich, or why some people judge another by brands of their strolles. Besides, DC Urban Moms and Dads (DCUMD) message board works for a city where every third child lives in the poverty. While the active users of the site mostly come from the District s tony 20016 zip code, and their average family budget is higher than $133,000. And by the way, your kid s stroller sucks talks about judgment, yet on a more extreme level. Briefly, it talks about a blog for mothers in D.C. to offer insight, advice, etc. on life as a mother in D.C. Unfortunately, it has morphed into name calling, judging and all out war between mothers. The author mulls over mothers judging each other by what stroller they use: Bugaboo owners are rich and fad oriented, MacClaren owners are upper middle class and highly educated, Graco owners are poor (Washington City Paper). This judgment illustrates that the society has entered a new stage of the consumption culture where the symptoms of expensive vice are conventionally accepted as marks of a superior status (Veblen 71). The discussion on what stroller to buy corresponds to one mentioned in the book Nation of Rebels , when Cougars made a boy a laughing stock, as these boots were not in fashion. Cool has become the central of consumer capitalism (Heath and Potter 188). Mothers want to purchase more expensive strollers not because of their quality, but because of the brands. The latter has become a sign of status and position in the society, while the stroller indicates the class to which its owner
  • 6. Summary Of Hair In Paradise Lost And The Rape Of Lock Throughout history women were seen as the weaker gender. They were seen to have no power compared to men. Men however, fall victim to what they cannot control. This is women s beauty. Hair has been and is one of the most prominent features of beauty. Hair in these pieces of literature function as an enhancement to their sexuality and beauty which in itself is a power they hold over men. In the poems of Paradise Lostand the Rape of Lock, two women who are so alike and so different both display the same power of the men they are suppose to be inferior to by manipulating them to carry out tasks they want done, but cannot do on their own accord. Both of these women knew they were seen as inferior but used men s weakness to their beauty to deceive them. To begin, it is made evident that women were created to benifit men. In Paradise Lost, Adamwas made by God as a perfect image of Him. When God notices that Adam is falling in love with himself, he realizes he has to create Adam a mate that was also made in a Godly image as stated on line 299 of Book 4, He for God only, she for God in him . This was the creation of Eve. Eve set the standard for women, unbeknownst to her, as the subordinate to men. Not only for the company she offered, but also for the pleasure to the eye. She as a veil down to the slender waist Her unadorned golden tresses wore Disheveled, but wanton ringlets waved As the vine curls her tendrils, which implied Subjection but required with gentle sway Line
  • 7. Executive Privilege Scandal Case Study speechwriter, started using the suffix gate to describe scandals. More than 200 scandals have had gate attached to them. This topic is important to my case because it changed the way people looked at the presidents because they really didn t know what other president were capable of doing the things that Nixon did. The American people started to see corruption in the highest form. The supreme court was 100% correct in the decision they made on executive privilege. No one should have so much power that the law does not matter for them. They shouldn t have more power than the law. Executive Privilege is a constitutional principle that allows presidents and/or high level executive branch officers to withhold information from the courts,
  • 8. I Was A Friend On Facebook Essay When I added you as a friend on Facebook, I was criticized and advised we had nothing in common. Yet, none of that mattered to me as I was always down for another friend. We began hanging at the lake and quickly discovered that we had everything in common. You became my best friend! I knew I could tell you anything, and I did. Sometime around the middle of October, something unfortunate happened in my life. Being the introvert that I am, I never told a soul even though I desperately wanted to do so. Clay, you made a statement that I wasn t myself the last time we hung out. You were right, I wasn t myself. Inside, I was hurting. Problems from my childhood began resurfacing, I began to have trouble at work, and I was stressed about school. You said I didn t have to take it out on you and you were absolutely correct. I will not put the blame on anyone or anything, but myself. I will admit my mistake. Yes, I said a bunch of shit. Horrible things that I would not want anyone to say to me. I really didn t expect to go there. I was angry, confused, sad, and truly a little jealous. It probably also wasn t a good thingthat I had other friends that were tearing me down. This all began over stupid shit... Hoodies, seriously? You re my friend and it doesn t matter to me how many hoodies you have. In fact, I would kick someone s ass or at least give them a piece of my mind for talking about your hoodies! We all have things that we like and that s okay. When I mentioned helping others,
  • 9. Write An Essay On Malala Yousafzai Taking A Stand Many teen activists are taking a stand, they are ambitious, innovative, and adaptable. These activists are making a great effort to help create solutions to the many present issues occurring at this time. Some of the activists have experienced these problems first hand and will not give up for their cause. Malala Yousafzai is efficient, Alex Lin is hardworking, and Iqbal Masih is ambitious. We need these activists because they are willing to risk their lives and use all of their time for the greater good. Iqbal s father sold him to the horrible carpet making company to make carpets until he paid off his debt. Iqbal was sold to pay for the eldest son s wedding. Iqbal was forced to make carpets non stop for 20 cents and hour. Each carpet took from four to six months and had over 1 million knots. Iqbal s pay was deducted for food, water and his mistakes. Iqbal was forced to work in one place and was punished by being beaten or threatened. The children in the factory were deprived of sleep, food and water. If children were sick, they were hung upside down until they were even more sick. The carpets were sold for over 2000 US dollars, more than any of the workers would make in 10 years. When Iqbal was only ten years old, he escaped and also helped 3,000 other children escape over his lifetime. After Iqbal escaped, he fled to the BLLF (Bonded Labor Liberation Front) to acquire papers to free himself. The Bonded Labor Liberation Front provided Iqbal with his freedom. Iqbal was not done yet, he was free, but he wanted to free all the children that are kept in horrible conditions with little food and water and forced to work for a miniscule pay every day. In the time Iqbal was free he went to a BLLF school in Lahore by his home village Muridke. Iqbal finished four years of school in just two years. In that time Iqbal also made speeches and fought for his cause. Iqbal became very good at speaking, he began to speak to journalists and at meetings. Children should have pens in their hands not tools. Iqbal said from moralheros.com. Even later Iqbal was invited to the United States of America to speak and receive the Reebock Human Rights Youth Action Award. Sadly, soon after Iqbal s visit to the US he was riding on his bike and he was shot to death. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Children and family court advisory and support service in Britain uses the term domestic violence to refer to a wide range of abusive and violent behavior in its domestic violence policy . It defines domestic violence as patterns of behavior characterized by the misuse of power and control by one person over another who are or have been in an intimate relationship. This is said to occur in all kinds of relationships ranging from same sex to mixed gender. In India, human relationships lead to domestic violence when one adult misuses his power to control another person s life. Violence is primarily the establishment of fear and control in a relationship through physical and other forms of violence and abuse. The violence normally manifests as physical abuse, mental torture, sexual assault and threats. Violence can be more subtle, like degrading someone constantly, depriving them of money or confining them to the house. Emotional abuse and social ostracism can be as bad as physical abuse in terms of long term effects. In NFHS 3, domestic violence is defined to include violence by spouses as well as by other household members. Thus, information was obtained from ever married women on violence by husbands and by others, and from never married women on violence by anyone, including boyfriends. • 11. How Personal Values And Beliefs Influenced The Black... How Personal Values and Beliefs Influenced the Black American Slave Narrative: Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass Compared. Throughout the abolition movement, both men and women slaves were trying to escape from slavery, and find their way to freedom in the North. Many of wrote their stories down. Some with the aid of ghost writers, and often under pseudonyms to protect their safety. These slave narratives spoke of the sufferings of the slave experience in America (Campbell 1). Because black men and black woman experienced slavery differently, they wrote about them differently. Those differences can be seen in a comparison of Frederick Douglass s, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845), and of Harriet A. Jacobs, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Written by Herself (1861). Jacobs and Douglass have similar backgrounds. Both write of their experiences while enslaved, yet as their narratives are compared a distinction can be made between the core values and purposes between the two. Douglass s audience is towards anyone who will listen, and underscores the brutal violence, and dehumanization of the American slave. Jacob s views are more emotional and directed towards the upper class white woman whose sympathies she believes will align with her own as a mother and a woman. Douglas writes, You have seen how a man was made a slave; you shall see how a slave was made a man (Douglass).

  • 15. Miserable Routines In Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton There was no way out none. He was a prisoner for life, and now his one ray of light to be extinguished (Wharton 29). Miserable routines caused by terrible occurrences trappes Ethan Frome every single day. Edith Wharton opposes the idea of following any routine. Wharton expresses that routines and cycles prevent a person from expressing their own desires or achieving their personal goals in life. These cycles prohibit a person from seeing changes within their environment and possible opportunities that could improve their life. Even if a person breaks free from a routine, an endless amount of reasons exist to pull them back in. Ethan Frome momentarily escapes from his daily routine to pursue his education, but not far into this break he has to return in order to help his family. Ethan Frome somehow found a way out of his miserable routine, but failed to take that exit; resulting in a life much worse than before. Finding a way out seems like a reasonable solution to escape bad situations, but taking such a great risk to completely change one s entire life, seems nearly impossible for any citizens of Starkfield. In the novella, Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton exemplifies how routines deny a person from reaching their full potential through the constant pull Ethan and other members of Starkfield receive to follow their normal, average routine and not follow their desires. The Frome household contained many illnesses over many years, bringing in people outside of the immediate

One of these policies is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This is a policy that provides resources for students with disabilities. These services include pull out/push in teachers, school therapy, extra time, and many others. It keeps public schools accountable for doing the most they can to protect students with special needs. This act can impact teachers in different ways as well. It can hinder them because students are periodically leaving the classroom and missing parts of the lesson to go to a pull out service or therapy. My student I was observing at St. Benedict had to leave class for pull out classes every day along with three other students and my cooperating teacher expressed to us how frustrating it is to have those students gone for the lesson and then having to teach them separately. If they were not getting special help they might be more disruptive to the rest of the students and the teachers so overall it is good for them. • 30. The Cosmological Argument The Cosmological Argument An important argument to try and prove the existence of God is the Cosmological Argument brought on by observations of the physical universe, made by Saint Thomas Aquinas, a thirteenth century Christian philosopher. The cosmological argument is a result from the study of the cosmos; Aquinas borrows ideas from Aristotle to make this systematically organized argument. Aquinas first point begins with the observation that everything is moving. Aquinas says that everything that moves must be moved by another moving thing, which has to be moved by another moving thing and so on. This cannot be infinite though, because consequently the motion of the series would have no origin, and the origin of this series cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But David Hume, a Scottish philosopher, objected to Aquinas second point by arguing that if each individual link in the chain of causes and motions can be explained then there is no need for an additional explanation for the whole of the chain. The explanation of each part is enough of an explanation for the whole itself. But defenders say that the discovery of the Big Bang theory would be the beginning of the causes and motions in the universe and is not infinite, so infinite regress would not be possible. A third objection to the cosmological argument as a whole is that Aquinas insists that everything has a cause; if that is true, then what caused God? There being an uncaused cause would be a contradiction to Aquinas whole argument that everything has a cause yet God has no cause. But Aquinas defends his argument by saying that only everything in our universe has a cause because everything in our universe is a limited, dependent being. That still would require an uncaused, neither finite, nor dependent being unlike anything in our universe, God. • 34. How Mergers Affect The Economic And Financial Power Of... Mergers have become a main aspect within the market economies, resulting in consequences that are potentially conflicting due to the stiff competition among different businesses (Richard Yekini, 2014, p. 54). The conventional economic theory suggests that mergers are likely to raise the level of monopoly, hence leading to reduced competition and lower economic efficiency. The truth is that they can boost the effective level of competition within the monopolistic environment where size is an important factor. This means that in the case of markets that have a small number of large producers that are involved in competition, mergers can play a vital role in increasing the economic and financial power of smaller firms. This enables the small firms to compete favourably with the larger ones. Therefore, mergers are able to produce a countervailing force to fight the leading firms, putting more pressure on them, and making them look for other ways to constantly make improvements in their efficiency. This is similar to the way many small businesses behave as a result of competition in highly competitive markets. This paper elaborates the reasons that motivate firms to take over or merge with other firms and the effects of this, both to the employees and the firms involved (Su Wells, 2014, p.46). This will be established by examination of specific recent acquisition or merger cases within EU member countries, putting into consideration a number of these aspects. The major driver
  • 35. Essay on Punishment and the Prodigal Son of The Holy Bible Punishment and the Prodigal Son In American Society today, there exists a feeling that those who have transgressed, whether against individuals, family members, or society at large, need to be held responsible for their actions. The more severe the transgression, the more severe the punishment. It is not unheard of in these times, for example, that a parent may let his or her child spend a few nights in jail in order to teach them a lesson . Even if the child seems to understand the severity of his or her actions, and shows regret for these actions, punishment may still be dealt out in the name of tough love . The younger son is reckless and brash, without a care for the consequences, and soon discovers the fate that befalls such irresponsible behavior, returning home destitute. Jesus, through this parable, challenges us to consider the correct response to the prodigal son. With today s morals and sense of responsibility, the elder son would be heralded as the ideal son someone who is frugal, reliable, and stable. The younger son, however, might be called the black sheep of the family tolerated because of bloodlines, easily dismissed, and held up as a bad example to the younger members of the family. The younger son would not be easily re accepted by his family without first paying some kind of penance, regardless of his confessed remorse. In this parable, the prodigal son s self decided punishment of apology and servitude to his father would not seem unreasonable. However, he is unconditionally accepted by his father, without punishment. His father is so overjoyed to have his son back that he throws a celebration in his son s honor, which offends his dependable older son s sense of right and wrong. This complete forgiving by the father may be hard to accept, unless one considers that the prodigal son, according to the parable, has already been redeemed. And when he came to himself... Then by including unlimited streaming, Netflix provides even more incentive for subscribers to enroll in a plan because they have the ability to watch over 14,000 movies and TV shows while they wait for their next DVD to arrive in the mail. This offers a competitive advantage because subscribers do not have to pay any additional fees for the streaming. The idea of a free one month trial is something that attracts many prospective subscribers to the Netflix approach. Whenever a subscriber signs up for Netflix, the company automatically enrolls them to have their first month free as a type of try before you buy incentive. If the subscriber does not like the service they have signed up for, all they need to do is cancel before their first month is up and Netflix cancels their subscription. Without feedback we would not be able to correctly perform movements as simple as walking or as difficult as hitting a baseball. The feedback we as humans rely heavily on is visual feedback; the access to visual feedback helps us in our everyday lives, and without it we would be much less efficient in daily skills and activities. There are not many studies that provide long term evidence to show support for feedback while learning a new skill; this could be because it is costly to conduct such experiments, and it is also hard to find participants who are able and willing to participate in these studies. This study will not be conducted over a long period of time, but further research still needs to be done to see if feedback during a learning phase affects the amount of retention over a long period of time. Does the inclusion of feedback while learning a new motor skill help in the performance of the skill? During this study I aim to conduct further research on how the use of feedback can affect the performance and retention of a new skill by using both statistical analysis and participant questionnaires. I hypothesize that the analysis will provide statistically significant evidence to prove that visual feedback does provide helpful information while learning a new skill, and I also hypothesize that the questionnaire will provide evidence that participants prefer to have the feedback because it allows them to correct their movements and learn the skill properly. After reading the selections from the Twelve Tables, I gather that the Roman society was very strict and harsh, and its conception of justice was more based on punishment than it was on negotiating the situation and coming to a clear resolution. The Romans were more blunt with their punishments, they saw black and white , no grey area when making decisions in court, which means that everything was a yes or no, no one person had the opportunity to talk about any of their crimes, it was straight to punishment, or if they were found to be not guilty then they were not punished. In Table IV : Rights of Head of Family, it expresses just how cruel they were, Quickly kill... a dreadfully deformed child (Spielvogel p. 116). In my opinion, this law is wicked because no one should be killed just because of the way that they look, especially if they were born that way and can not help it. Before the Twelve Tables, there were major problems and struggles. Both of the groups, patricians and plebeians, were able to vote, but only the patricians were granted the right to be elected to government positions. Specific aim: The aim of this study is to examine if spinal mobilization (SM), a form of manual therapy (MT) affects conditioned pain modulation (CPM) among adults with chronic idiopathic neck pain (CINP). Scope of the problem: Why is the study important? Chronic neck pain is common, costly, and a leading cause of disability. Literature suggests that ascending pain pathways (i.e. pain pressure threshold or PPT) and/or descending pain pathways (i.e. CPM) may be impaired in those with chronic pain [please see Appendix for illustration of ascending and descending pain pathways]. Spinal mobilization (SM), a form of MT, is a common treatment that has been effective in relieving neck pain according to Cochrane Review (Gross et al 2015). A recent systematic review (Coronado et al 2015) concluded that although the pain relief from MT seems to improve PPT; the pain relief, however, is not associated with PPT, a measure of the ascending pain pathways. Whether the pain relief from SM is due to its effects on the descending pain pathways (e.g. CPM) is not known at this time. CPM is a method to test one s endogenous descending pain inhibition status. It is a simple test that uses a second painful stimulus to identify if a person has a normal functioning CPM or not. Pressure pain threshold (PPT) is a measure of (ascending and descending pain pathways) pain sensitivity and is a part of the CPM testing protocol. There is research indicating that one session of MT has improved PPT and

Time and drugs added an even more gravely tone to Holiday s voice, but her vocals still come out in a beautiful and unique way. The beat behind Holiday s vocals is no longer fast paced and upbeat. For the majority of the recording, all that is played behind her voice is a piano, other than a few trumpet solos. The song lyrics in Strange Fruit can be seen as being more artful than entertaining; this is certainly not a song you would dance to. She graphically illustrates African American bodies hanging from poplar trees (lynching) with phrases like, the bulging eyes and twisted mouth, here is fruit for the crows to pluck, and the sudden smell of burning flesh. As discussed previously, she leaves silences between phrases for the listener to digest the scenario she is producing. Jazz critic Ralph suggests that she was a sort of living lyric to the song Strange Fruit , hanging not on a poplar tree, but on the limbs of life itself. (Gill, 2015). It is evident that she sang this song with passion and soul. No longer did she have to play for swing bands in which she was intended to show off. She gained the ability and reputation to sing what she felt passionate about. She grew into a vocalist who made her own rules and had settled into her very own style. Over a century has gone by since the birth of the legendary jazz vocalist, Billie Holiday. Holiday faced never ending adversity on her journey, but stopped at nothing to gain stardom. Her legacy inspires other artists to sing what they are passionate about and never give up, even if society and fate want them to. Comparing Julius Caesar And Antony Octavian and Antony No contemporaries could have possibly known for sure as to who the victor would be from the conflict that arose between Gaius Julius Ceasar Octavianus, Octavian, and Marcus Antonius, Antony. However, knowing what the ultimate outcome of the struggle was, one may be able to look back into history and offer key reasons as to why Octavian was able to defeat Antony. Ultimately, I believe there was not one key reason for Octavian victory. It was a combination of Octavian s proximity to Rome, his favor with the citizens, and the elimination of his opposition at home that all combined to allow his eventual triumph. Overlooking some smaller details, it is first important to know that after Julius Ceasar s assassination that Octavian was named his heir and returned to Italy to claim this inheritance. From here, he gathered military power and allowed the senate to use him, in order to advance his political position, and he was sent to fight against a rebellious Antony. At this point, Octavian did not try to decimate Antony s forces, instead he proposed and ultimately formed the second triumvirate with Antony and Lepidus as the other heads of the state (Wells 13). From here, the Roman territories were divided into areas of governorship with Antony taking the east, Octavian the west, and Lepidus had the Africa territories (Wells 17). This would turn out to be one of the main contributing factors in Octavian s ultimate success; for it allowed him the opportunity

Prejudiced individuals are prejudging without knowing any information about the Others (Rogers and Steinfatt). According to Allport, the process of categorization is the basis to develop prejudice and stereotypes. People think in categories and the mind forms groups and classes to guide our daily actions. Dahl also verifies that the predictions we make about Others is based on stereotypes and that this is necessary and it is a process that we cannot avoid. If categorization is a natural cognitive process and all categorization leads to generalization, then stereotype is also a natural cognitive process. Categories are necessary to give meaning to our reality and to create structure, however they are flexible and they change. On the other hand stereotypes seem to give us a feeling of order and security but they are inflexible and try to reinforce one particular image over others. Stereotypes still persist even when we know better because they help to create a positive self image and they are to a large degree attached to ideologies (Christoffanini). Furthermore, we represent Others by using language or images, which allow us to portray Others in ways
  • 53. The Acidic Environment Around Us The environment around us is certainly acidic. Even though people often think the air around us is neutral, the atmosphere naturally contains acidic oxides of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur that can harm our environment greatly. These oxides can be produced naturally and industrially. Sulfur dioxide is produced when organic matter decomposes and forms hydrogen sulphide which then oxidises to the oxide: 2H2S (g) + 3O2 (g) 2SO2 (g) + 2H2O. The natural sources of sulfur dioxide are in volcanic gases, bushfires, sulfur rich geothermal hot springs releasing gases and the decomposition of organic matter. The industrial sources of sulfur dioxide such as in processing and burning of fossil fuels and extracting metals from sulfur rich ores such as smelting of galena for lead: 2PbS (s) + 3O2 (g) 2PbO (s) + 2SO2 Nitric oxide is another oxide in the atmosphere that is formed when nitrogen and oxygen react due to high temperatures of lightning: N2 (g) + O2 (g) 2NO (g). Other sources of nitric oxide from industrial sources include the combustion of fossil fuels both in cars and in power stations. The nitrogen in the air reacts with oxygen in the hot engines. Another oxide that occurs in the atmosphere is nitrogen dioxide which is produced after nitric oxide is produced by lightning and reacts with the oxygen in the air: (2NO (g) + O2 (g) NO2 (g)), it is also released in large volumes in the atmosphere by power stations. Nitrous oxide is an oxide that occurs on root nodules of legume
  • 54. Northwestern Indians Character Analysis Character of Northwestern Indians Among other falsehoods it has been asserted confidently, but without a shadow of argument or fact to sustain the assertion, that they cannot be brought to a state of civilization, or be induced to form communities and engage in the pursuits of agriculture and the arts, in consequence of some physical difference between them and the Anglo Saxon race. This hypothesis is contradicted by experience, which has abundantly shown that the two races, when placed in the same situation, and acted upon by the same causes, have invariably resorted to the same expedients and pursued the same policy. As long ago as 1724, the Jesuit Father Lafitan wrote of the Indians, and stated that to his own experience he added that of Father Gamier, who had lived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Relation de Nouvelle France, published in 1633, there is a curious story of an incident, which took place at Quebec. A party of Indians, watching a French drummer boy beat his drum, pressed more closely around him than he liked, and he struck one of the Indians in the face with his drumstick so sharply that the blow drew blood. The Indians, much offended, went to the interpreter and demanded apologies and a present, according to their custom. No, said the interpreter, our custom is to punish the offender; we will punish the boy in your presence. When the Indians saw the child stripped for the flogging they began immediately to beg for his pardon; but as the soldiers continued their preparations for whipping the lad, one of the Indians suddenly stripped himself and threw his robe over the boy, crying out, Scourge me, if you choose, but do not strike the boy The good Father Le Jeune, who tells this story, adds that this unwillingness of the Indians to see any child chastised will probably occasion trouble to us in the design we have to instruct their
