Laurie Halse Anderson Speak Analysis
Depression is a whole body illness that affects a person s physical health as well as how he or she
feels, thinks, and behaves towards others. In addition, a person who suffers from this disorder may
have problems eating, sleeping, working, and getting along with his/her friends. In the book, Speak,
by Laurie Halse Anderson, Melinda Sordino goes to highschool with no friends and a bad attitude. She
has thoughts of suicide and wants to escape her reality. She does so by going into her closet which she
refers to as her second home . She feels safe in the closet and finds it as soothing. She finds her
courage and her voice in the closet. Melinda s progress truly shows when she is in her foster home and
she eventually goes on finds her voice. During the book in the closet she finds her courage, she can
sleep and find peace when she is in it, and she goes to it when she needs comfort.
During the story, after all the troubles and hardship she faces throughout, she finds her courage to
stand up for herself in the closet. In the book, when she finds her courage she is with Andy Evans. He

In the story she states, I ve been having trouble sleeping at home. I wake up because the covers or on
the floor or because I m standing at the kitchen door trying to get out. It feels safer in my little
hideaway (Anderson, 130). In this quote Melinda bluntly says that she feels safer in her closet than she
does at her home. She also states that she keeps waking up at home and is having trouble sleeping.
These were leading factors following what happened to Melinda. In the beginning of the novel she
makes her closet her home. Melinda says, Mostly I just watch the scary movies inside my eyelids
(Anderson, 50). This shows that she is sleeping but she is having some nightmares. As the book
progresses she creates a safe environment for her to find peace

Science Act Hypothesis
This report examines and evaluate the Missouri Standard Science Act. I will describe the purpose and
the contents of this bill, then discuss the discrepancies that I have found by comparing the definition
of terms provided from its common definition, I will also the identify the validity of some arguments
provided in this bill, and discern its inconvenience.
The Missouri House Bill No. 911 or also known as the Missouri Standard Science Act was a
legislation introduced in 2003 by the former Missouri Representative Robert Wayne Cooper from
district 155. This bill suggests that the science instructions regarding evolution and intelligent design
must be taught equally in public elementary and secondary schools. It also recommends a series of ...

Most of the sentences can easily be refutable by means of showing evidence of natural selection and
just by simply comparing the definition provided in this bill to its common or standard definition.
Some of its definition was redefined in favor of the bill s request for equality, and the use of the words
faith based philosophical beliefs and non verifiable does not conform to science. I believe that there is
no idea of faith in science. The purpose of science is to study the natural world and base their findings
on data, facts, and evidence, not by faith. In addition, the use of non verifiable on the bill suggests that
if a scientist didn t see any type of discoveries with their own eyes, then it is not verifiable. This
suggests that any theories such as the Big Bang and evolution is not verifiable. The biggest issue with
this term is that by the same definition, intelligent design is also not verifiable. Missouri Standard
Science Act provides an alternative fact where it redefines science, disregards it and requires the
common definition of science not to be taught. This leads to fallacious assumptions and conclusions
about science, its functions, and how it must be

Imaginative Staffing Inc
The days of selling to a buyer alone are slowing dying. Companies sell products that have a wide
effect on the client and require approval from many levels. Success in complex sales is the result of
clear planning and effective execution. This requires careful coordination of many resources on both
the selling and client side throughout the sales process. What is team selling? Team selling is using the
resources of a company to sell an account using all relevant decision makers. The goal of team selling
is establishing long, lasting profitable relationships between people, product, and companies. Team
selling provides an ideal process for account managers and specialists to work together to serve a

Focusing on these fundamentals will build sensitivity and trust among team members (Spiro et al

Planning Presentations
Sales presentations should be simple not overwhelming with information a customer may not be able
to remember. The goal of a sales presentation is to sell a solution to a customer, that solution being the
product or service of the salesperson. A presentation must be relevant, make a connection with the
product and the prospect, be to point, use showmanship, be animated, use physical demonstration, and
belief in the product.
In a team selling environment, one person could give the presentation, one could answer questions, or
however the team decides to set up the presentation. The one thing that should not happen is each
person give there own presentation on the same product; do not confuse the customer. All team
members should be clear on roles and responsibilities. A team should always be together so all
members give the same answers and information to the customer.
Selecting and Recruiting
When hiring salespeople set of qualifications and a job description with the duties the salesperson will
do should be established. Many companies use outside agencies to help screen and find the best
candidates, with some candidates working on a temporary basis. Time, organizational and territory
management skills will be extremely important in a candidate for a sales position. Recruitment should
be a continuous activity, allowing for top applicants

Compare And Contrast On Dumpster Diving And On Compassion
In On Compassion, an essay written by Barbara Lazear Ascher, compassion is observed through the
eyes of someone who seems to be more fortunate. Dumpster Diving, a personal narrative written by
Lars Eighner, features the adventures and tribulations of someone who does not easily survive in the
hectic world that is the modern day. Through these two essays, the perspectives of the privileged and
unfortunate. Each essay provides detail through personal experiences each author has had through
their lives as members of their classes.
Ascher s essay describes the ways she has seen compassion showed, through voluntary donations,
food, shelter. She openly questions what drives humans to be compassionate to each other. As a

He narrates as someone who has been down on his luck. He works alone, aside from his canine
companion. He expresses he did not expect compassion and that he found a living off of the refuse of
others. Scavenging is much more complicated than many think, there is a certain science involved.
The type of food, edibility, time it was disposed of, packaging and witnesses are all taken into account
when finding a way to survive in another s trash. There were ways, Eighner was aware of, to increase
the amount of good food in the area he scrounged from. I never placed a bogus order to increase the
supply of pizzas and I believe no one else was scavenging in this Dumpster. Despite knowing he could
increase his output of food found, he chose not to make more work for others or waste their resources.
There is compassion found in this act. His essay is informative, expemplifying the difficulty in
scavenging as a way of life. No matter how careful I am I still get dydsentery at least once a month,
often in warmer weather...Dumpster diving has serious drawbacks as a way of life. He explains how to
safely do it, but wishes it upon no one. His intelligence seems to rival those who have had great
education, as he must problem solve and evaluate his chances at a good haul. He focuses on educating
people on how to safely scavenge when absolutely

Vollmann Poor People
Nelson Mandela once said, Poverty is not natural it s man made. This quote states that a person can
overcome poverty if one has the desire to live a better life. In a novel called Poor People written by
William T. Vollmann, the author travels around different countries and places to learn about poor
people and to get a global perspective view. While interviewing different kinds of people, Vollmann
would ask them one question: why are you poor? Looking at people s answers Vollmann noticed that
some of the people gave quite interesting answers. Vollmann went through a lot of situations where he
just couldn t imagine what life would be if he was ever to live like that. Another novel that has a
similar poverty situation is called Let The Water Hold Me Down, written by Michael Spurgeon. Hank,
the main character of the novel, experiences a tragic moment in his life. Losing his wife and daughter
while drowning, this tragedy left him feeling like it s all due to his miscarrying about them. His life
becomes full of sorrow, and the only way out it was to go to Mexico to his friend s place and restart
his life over. In a new country of Mexico, this story takes place. Even though he had money, a house,
and friends support, he still experienced lots of pressure trying to survive in Mexico. Poverty has
different meanings in everyone s lives but by reading these two novels, there are three similarities that
can be made about people living in poverty.

I Have Developed My Self Assessment Essay
Introduction
My culture, interaction with family and friends, and the various experiences from co curricular and
extra curricular activities have enabled me to develop a multifaceted personality to tap my potential.
In particular different activities, projects, assessment reports, and feedback from colleagues over the
last few months at Babson I have better understood my strengths and weaknesses, and work style and
leadership style. In this paper, I have developed my self assessment analysis based upon qualitative
and quantitative materials I have, and my experiences and exercises during this semester. I have
identified three broad themes that incorporate several subthemes representing my current abilities,
preferences, patterns of strengths, etc. (see appendix 1). Further, I have developed my action plan for
the next semester to enhance my strengths and learn new skills, which are critical for my future career
growth, to overcome my weaknesses.
Self assessment
Theme 1: I am action and performance oriented
Based upon my experiences, feedback from others and self analysis, I believe that I am always action
and performance oriented. My print assessment shows that generally I am not fond of exhaustive
planning or grueling analysis; I prefer things moving forward. I am spontaneous and able to take risks.
In addition, my self confidence has a calming effect on others while at the same time mobilizing them

Investigating The Correlation Between Surface Area And Volume
AIM
To investigate the relationships between the shape of an object and the time taken for a substance to
diffuse into its center and to investigate the correlation between surface area and volume in regards to
cellular transport.
BACKGROUND THEORY / INTRODUCTION
Cells are the basic unit of life of which all living organisms are built upon, they are the smallest living
organizational unit and they all come from pre existing cells which has been supported by several
scientists in the formation of cell theory [Biological physics, 2013]. The structure of a cell is strongly
correlated with its function and the way it acts in relation to other cells and biological processes such
as diffusion. Cells are specialized for many different purposes and their structures reflect these
functions. Every living organism can be classified into two different cell groups; eukaryote cells and
prokaryote cells.
Image 1 [Biochemanics, 2014]
In the comparison image between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells it highlights the specialised
structures of both cell types, the specialised cell structures allow cells to perform certain functions
needed in the organisms it contains. Prokaryotic cells contain flagella which eukaryotic cells do not
and eukaryotic cells have many important structures such as the nucleus or information processing
centre of the cell.
Eukaryotic cells have a defined nucleus and their cytoplasm contains specialized organelles bound to
the cell membrane whereas prokaryotic

One of the major problems of our society nowadays is the rapid growth of drug addicts. This is
because people misused and abused drugs, which can lead to addiction and dependent on drugs. In
addition, the most abused drugs are psychotropic drugs such as cocaine and heroin, which can change
the way people thinks, acts and feels. Today, there are many programs that are established to help drug
users and prevent the spread of diseases. Needle exchange program (NEPs) is one of the programs,
which has goal to reduce harm to drug users and innocent people. Moreover, implementing of needle

Moreover, NEPs will provide sterile needle and syringes to avoid exchanges of used injections
between drug users. Since NEPs are implemented, the number of HIV cases and other diseases are

exchange programs reduce the transmission of HIV by one third and accommodate a return of four
thousand dollars investment in health care costs. (Thompson) Needle exchange program provide
safety not only in drug addicts but also provide safety in the community. Many of needle exchange
programs perform a one for one basis to decrease the exposure of contaminated needles in streets and
playgrounds so that children and other people are away from needle sticks accident. (Franciscus) On
the other hand, people who are against of needle exchange programs claim that the needle exchange
programs don t save lives but instead it can cause drug related deaths. Even though NEPs help reduce
the transmission of HIV and other diseases, they still encourage people to use more drugs, which
could lead to death. Addicts are prone to death, perhaps not from HIV, but from overdosed, collapsed

Michael, Leo, Bryan
Central Idea
Pest control impacts the environment.
Lines of Inquiry
The presence of pest control influences the ecosystems of our environment.
Pest control can potentially associate risks to our environment, species of animals, and plants.
The use of pest control can be effective against pests.
Concepts
Causation
Perspective
Research
What is 1080?
1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) is a poisonous chemical. Used in many areas of New Zealand, yet it
causes a devastating amount of damage harms many areas of New Zealand.
What is 1080 used for
1080 is a poison used to protect the threats to native animals and plants from introduced species. The
pest control poison is effective in killing these introduced species which kill our native animals/plants
especially rats, stoats and possums.
Mainly found in vegetation lands, it prevents pests from eating healthy crops and native animals.
However, 1080 is a hazard to children, dogs, and many other animals. This potential hazard can spread
to bodies of water and can be present in a specific areas for an extravagant amount of time. This
danger makes 1080 an unethical choice for controlling pests.
Recently, in 2015, a nationwide scare was put on Fonterra Baby Formula. An anonymous letter sent to
major news corporations (residing in New Zealand) threatened the safety of the baby formula.
Included was baby formula laced with 1080 hazardous pest control poison as well as a threat to lace

J.L. Mackie s Evil and Omnipotence Essay
J.L. Mackie s Evil and Omnipotence
The philosopher J.L. Mackie wrote a very convincing piece on the problem of evil called Evil and
Omnipotence, in which he attempts to show that one of the following premises must be false in order
for them to be consistent with each other.
#1. God is omnipotent.
#2. God is morally perfect.
#3. Evil exists.
The problem of evil is a deductive a priori argument who s goal is to prove the non existence of God.
In addition to Mackie s three main premises he also introduces some quasi logical rules that give
further evidence to his argument. First he presumes that a good thing will eliminate evil to the extent
that it can and second, that omnipotence has no limits. From these two additional ... Show more

Mackie saves the strongest and probably the most popular theistic response to this argument for last.
The free will solution claims that the existence of 2nd order evils is not a product of God but of
mankind s own freewill. The supporters of this claim hold that freedom is a good even greater than
2nd order goods and believe that God is justified for letting 2nd order evils exist in exchange for the
ultimate good of freedom. This is to say that even though God is omnipotent he chooses not to use his
power to control the will of men. In comparison to the first two theistic responses this one seems to be
the best. So it is surprising how easily Mackie disproves it. He asks, if God is all good and all
powerful, and if free will is good enough to justify 2nd order evils, why didn t he create men so that
they would freely choose to do good? The only possible objection to this is to say that God s power is
limited and that he is not omnipotent. Also if God is omniscient doesn t he already know the outcomes
of the men which he has created? To truly allow man to have free will God would have to restrict his
own power in order to be unable to control men and this leads us to the Paradox of omnipotence.
Another attempt to prove the problem of evil is the evidential version of the argument. This argument
attempts to show inductively that the existence of God is not likely. This form is much

Psychotic Break In The Wanderer
In The Wanderer , the speaker tells us about the events of an attack on his town and people. He is the
only person that makes it through. Longing for a reconnection to human life, he travels through empty
lands looking to replace his dead lord, kinsmen, and friends. The only connection he has to human life
along this journey are his memories. Solitude makes the speaker believe that all things on earth come
to a tragic end. The poem The Wanderer by Anglo Saxons is about social isolation and reveals a
psychotic break. Essentially, the speaker s psychotic break originates from three main things that
happen to him. The first event, that started his decline in mental health, is the war that wiped out his
people. According to NAMI, A traumatic event such as a death, war or sexual assault can trigger a

The Civil Service Reform ( Csr )
1.0 Introduction/ Background
Improvement, change and innovation are almost constant, as the service environment remains
dynamic in tune to the trend of the society. Civil service reform (CSR) is one of the most intractable
yet important challenges for governments and their supporters today. However, CSR might have failed
in some states; this is not to say the process is not pertinent as governments and their supporters today
seize opportunities availed by the reformation. To buttress this fact, Sarah (2012) posited reformation
as a tool touches not only on government s very purpose of existence, but also on some of its most
sensitive, protected areas.
Authors like Sarah (2012), Antwi, Analoui and Nana Agyekum (2008) subscribed to the assertion that
civil service is the backbone of the state, supporting or undermining the entire system of governance.
This system of governance is however open to notable modifications termed reforms, since
administrative heads change, and every administrator has his/her style. In this context, Evans, (2008)
cited in Sarah (2012), traced the account of CSR and broke it into three phases. The first phase took
place in the 1980s. This period was characterized largely by donors supporting various aspects of
institutional development realizing the civil service s crucial role in changing policy. After the collapse
of Communism and the failure of many of the aid programmes of the aforementioned phase, the 1990s

Question #1
Despite the economic progress brought about in part by scientific management, critics were calling
attention to the seamy side of progress which included severe labor management conflict, apathy,
boredom, and wasted human resources to examine the discrepancy between how an organization was
supposed to work versus how the workers actually behaved. In addition, factors like World War I,
developments in psychology and later the depression, all bought into question, some of the basic
assumptions of Scientific Management. (Internet) This is where the Human Relations School steps in.

To Mayo, this was not only the key to organizational success, but also the goal to achieving social
stability. He also viewed informal group processes as the promoting tool for social integration, as well
as stopping absenteeism, turnover, and discontent among employees.
Another important person at this time was Chester Barnard, who combined practical experience in
management and corporate affairs with a complex and sophisticated theory of organization and human
behavior. His focus projected from an emphasis on the organization to an analysis of the nature of an
individual. He placed priority on tension between the organization and the individual noting that
...organizations are constructed for particular purposes, but they employ individuals who may have
widely divergent objectives and desires. (Jaffe, 74) Barnard noted that cooperation was needed for the
organization to work effectively and efficiently. He discussed in his book, The Functions of the
Executive, the relationship between incentives and contributions, and the need to join these together to
meet an equilibrium of some sort. He claimed that this system would satisfy individuals and obtain
contributions from them while at the same time making everyone happy. To do this, he used
distribution hoping to gain cooperative activity from the employees. The executive needs to note that

family member is the most important characteristic for anyone to have. I believe this because if one
does not have loyalty, what is their purpose? Loyalty is important to me because I personally want
loyalty from others, so I provide loyalty to others. I have always lived my life on the concept that you
get what you put in. In response to that, I am loyal to others with hope that others will be loyal to me.
This pillar is most important in my relationship with Kylee. I am loyal to Kylee, as she is loyal to me.
Without loyalty in our relationship, our feelings for each other would not be as strong, if present at all.
Honesty. Honesty is most important to someone who is seeking the characteristic of loyalty. One who
is dishonest, is not a loyal person. To be loyal, you must be entrusted to tell the truth and nothing but
the truth at all times. Educated. One who is loyal, must be educated enough to be someone to rely one.
If someone wants to be trusted but is not wise enough to treat their trust correctly, they are not loyal.
The loyal person must know how to take things into perspective and know how to relate to the
situation and act accordingly. Dedicated. To be loyal, one must be dedicated to their characteristic.
They must be success driven, timely and organized in EVERY situation. If the loyal person is only
loyal to one person, or in only some situations, they are not truly a loyal person. Kind. A loyal person
must also be kind enough to be approachable. If a person isn t kind enough to be approached, they
cannot be labelled as loyal, because they aren t given the chance to prove they are. But, at the same
time they must also be realistic, and know how to help. 2. Safe. My second pillar is my characteristic
of safety. I believe I have lived my life safely, but also just as freely and exciting as well. Safety is an
important characteristic to me because I think not having this characteristic is dangerous. To live a
healthy life, one must know how to stay safe. I believe I have

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Merrill Crowe Process Of...
The yanacocha mine is located in northern Cajamarca situated in Peru. it is a gold mine which
produces more than 7 billion dollars worth of gold till this day. The name Yanacocha comes from the
language Quechua, yana= means dark, cocha=means pond or a puddle. its and opened pit mine and it s
considered the second world largest gold mine. This formal mine which has been mining for 20 years
obtaining its ore from three smaller open pits. It is commonly known for using the Merrill Crowe
process and gold cyanidation as their most used metallurgical techniques. The Merrill Crowe Process
is a technique used in order to separate the cyanide solution and the gold apart. The process involves
the filtration of the solution in order to separate it from the ore, leaving behind a transparent solution.
To have achieved this, a pre coated filter with diatomaceous earth had to be applied. Diatomaceous
earth are fossilized diatoms which have been granulated into a fine powder, it is used as a filtration aid
as it supports with the following process. The solution is then passed by a vacuum deaeration column,

Essay On The Australian Industrial Relation System
The Australian industrial relations system has historically been highly influenced and regulated
through the process of arbitration and conciliation (Reference). In the early 20th century arbitration
and conciliation was determined through tribunals and industry based awards which determined wages
and employment conditions. Conciliation and arbitration was highly dependent on the influence and
power of trade union membership within the workplace. Since the early 1900 s the arbitration and
conciliation process has been replaced with an industrial relations system which has been consistent
with the decline of union membership to 28 percent of the workforce (reference) This has resulted in
more employees not being covered by a form of representation which then in turn has initiated ...

The consequences of this Act favoured a formal system of agreement making, with awards becoming
the minimum for conditions and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) becoming an
independent tribunal to regulate these conditions. While individual agreements were limited because
of the restraints of awards on common law contracts, enterprise bargaining gave businesses more
opportunity to expand rules and decisions in workplaces were unions were weak (Reference). The
legislation introduced instability of collectivism within the industrial relations system and provided
the opportunity for individualism to develop and therefore for an employee voice (Reference). For an
example, unfair dismissal under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act and the Industrial Relations Act
would have required an employee claiming unfair dismissal to be represented by a union. The
provisions under the 1993 legislation have given individual employees the opportunity to initiate an
unfair dismissal complaint without the representation of the

The Never-Ending Cycle In George Orwell s Animal Farm
The Never Ending Cycle
Sara Moehring
Like animals to the slaughter. This phrase has been used since biblical times, describing an
unconcerned manner unaware of an impending catastrophe. Perhaps there is some relation to George
Orwell s Animal Farm? Was this intentional? In this dark fairy tale, George Orwell describes a mid
20th century farm in England that has been taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. The
humans are replaced by pigs, who eventually end the cycle worse than it began. The animals chased
out a tyrant, just so they could be repressed by a power just as terrible. The worst thing was, that they
couldn t fight back. They lacked the education and knowledge required to defend their basic rights.

The people blindly followed the new order, communism, because they thought it would lead to a
world where everyone was equal. This happens in Animal Farm, When Old Major s vision, later called
Animalism, was put into practice, the pigs in charge took over and became selfish and violent,
twisting the philosophy until it barely contained an echo of the original intent. The same thing
happened with communism, as Stalin left much of the country penniless and helpless, and put people
to death if they showed the slightest resistance to his regime. The pigs come into power after revealing
they have been teaching themselves to read and write from an old spelling book which had belonged
to Mr. Jones children, and which had been thrown upon the rubbish heap. This created a divide in
intelligence between the other animals and pigs, which the animals believed they could not cross.
Several of them would have protested if they could find the right arguments. The other animals just
naturally assumed that pigs were smarter, and didn t try to change the fact because they had always
been dominated over. With their (the pigs) superior knowledge, it was natural that they should assume

Essay about Symbols in the Briefcase in “Invisible Man” by...
Towards the end of the book Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, the narrator who remains unnamed
thought the entire book, risks his life to save a briefcase filled with seemingly random assorted items.
But later in the book the narrator is forced to burn the items in his briefcase in order to find his way
out of a sewer he gets stuck in. Closer reading reveals that the items in his briefcase are more than
random assorted items, but instead are symbols. Each one of those symbols represents a point in the
narrator s life where he is either betrayed or made invisible by the people around him. Through the
book the two main recurring themes are betrayal and invisibility and the narrator keeps these symbols
with him because they represent who he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crowd continually asks him to repeat himself and at one point the narrator miss speaks and says
social equality instead of social responsibility. This immediate arouses the whites in the crowd. When
they yell threats at him he Denys what he said and claims that the blood in his mouth caused him to
misspeak. In this incident the whites in the crowd immediately stop any variation from what they want
to hear coming out of the mouth of an African American. This is another way that he is oppressed into
being what people want him to be and therefore becoming invisible. The narrator also feels betrayed
when he sees Clifton with the doll. At that time the narrator still considered himself a part of the
brotherhood, and since the brotherhood would never allow such a thing to be sold, Clifton is betraying
the brotherhood and also the narrator himself. Another symbolic item in the narrator s briefcase is the
Sambo doll that brother Clifton was selling illegally on the street. It is not the doll itself, but instead
the circumstances surrounding Clifton s death that make the doll significant. Before his death, the
narrator meets brother Clifton, and describes him as the ideal man. He is educated, well dressed,
muscular, and has a stylish swag about him, that the narrator admires. But we don t know Clifton long
before he is shot. Clifton suddenly drops from his original

Risks And Risks Of Risk
Questions in analyzing are 5 W s and 1 H (where, what, when, why who and how), what risk are
related to attaining the stated goals? what are the risk of not attaining the goals? who is affected by the
risk? Step 2 evaluate and prioritize the risk At this step, the impact, probability and exposure will be
analyzed and further understanding of the risk aids in evaluating the effect of the hazard correctly and
the consequences of its impact in the agency. The information generated will be acted upon setting
them in levels of priority. The probability of a risk happening has to be greater than zero to be set as a
priority and the impact of a risk is a measure of the degree of detrimental, catastrophic effects and the

Also, because of a clear quantitative metrics that are within a specific threshold and an arrangement to
proceed with the plans, it can be used as a data analysis and does not require an expertise to be able to
construct and utilize a risk matrix. Although some of this benefits are very important, some drawbacks
when using a risk matrix are: insufficient resolution, inaccuracy, inconclusive figures, ineffective for
random decision making and highly negative correlations. The impact of the risk is determined by
using the impact criteria provided below. And the likelihood criteria are used to determine the
likelihood of the hazard occurring. The range of the hazard is further analyzed from the risk matrix by
evaluating the intersection of the impact and likelihood. This will aid in taking the decision of
accepting the risk or not and a risk is usually considered acceptable if it has a very low significant
level. Step 3 determine necessary controls (engineering controls, administrative and work practice

What Australian Fashion Retailers Can Learn from Zara s...
What Australian fashion retailers can learn from Zara s product management process to improve their
business
Australian fashion retailer these days are facing a huge struggle by selling over priced clothes.
However, the globalization has poked Australian retailers to found themselves in the midst of an
international fashion invasion, while the markets found themselves starstruck on the attractiveness that
international retailers offer.
The condition of Australian fashion retailers have been under serviced and underwhelmed when it
comes to fashion choice, especially in affordable variety (Wells 2013). There are only numerous
fashion labels are available to dress 23 million people. In addition, the price cannot be compared to
international brands ; the volumes produced by big international retailers like Zara and H M are to
service global market, unlike Sportsgirl or Country Road who produce much smaller volumes.
This does not conclude that Australian fashion retailers will not survive in the near future, although it
does make some of them to stand on their toes. Domestic retailers are forced to turn around their
fashion clothes much faster to avoid the merchandise cannibalizing by Zara. On the other side of the
card, for being fast fashion, Zara may also meet its peak of a slower consumption. Consumers have
now become aware of the impact of fast fashion that may harm environments and work ethic. Even
though, Zara has anticipated the issues by coming up with their

A Report on Medical History, Law, Prostitution, and Public...
Medical History Law, Prostitution and Public Health John Scott, in his paper, Prostitution and public
health in New South Wales accurately describes the way that prostitutes are seen in this particular
region and in the rest of the world. Prostitutes working in public spaces have been presented as sexual
agents willfully engaged in criminal conduct and the spread of contagion (2003). This is clearly a
more or less universal opinion of prostitutes and prostitution. However, as Scott points out, in New
South Wales, They [prostitutes] have been made subject to strategic interventions that have attempted
to normalize prostitution and render the prostitute a hygienic subject (2003). While no such attempts
have been overtly made in a widespread manner throughout the United States, similar efforts have
been made elsewhere in order to protect the health of general public and promote the overall good.
Those who wish to consume the services of prostitution will ultimately continue to do so, regardless of
whether or not it is legal or illegal. At the very least steps should be taken to make the act of indulging
in such things a more sanitary act, comparable to clean needle exchange programs for intravenous
drug users. The breadth of interventions justified by the interests of public health demonstrates that the
relationship between public health and prostitution is far deeper than the use of population statistics
and outbreak investigations to curb the spread of disease

Merengue Tipico Essay
This paper will be comparing and contrasting Merengue Tipico music, which is a type of merengue,
and bachata music of the Dominican Republic. Merengue and Bachata are the two most popular music
genres in the Dominican Republic. These two kinds of music represent the Dominican Republic and
its people. Many Dominicans have taken their music and traditions to different parts of the world.
Mainly, the Bachata and Merengue have expanded to different cities of the United States and Latin
America. Although both genres have a lot of characteristics in common, they also have many
differences. Two of the main differences these two genres have are the instrumentation and their artists
and composers.

Each one of these instruments complements Merengue Tipico in a way that no other instrument
would. The tambora is a two headed drum that is more used as a background instrument in Merengue
Tipico. It originated in Africa and was brought to the Caribbean by the West African slaves that came
to work plantation (Larson, 2017). Moreover, the guira is a percussion instrument that is played by
rasping a metal stick against the rough surface of the instrument (Solano, 2017). Also, there is the
saxophone, which is one of the last instruments that was added to the Merengue Tipico, and
contributes to give a better rhythm to it. The other instrument that is essential in Merengue Tipico is
the accordion. This is a musical instrument that has form of a box. It is held and played by pulling the
sides apart and then pushing them together while pressing buttons and keys. However, the instruments
in Bachata are completely different, except that the guira is also played in Bachata. The instruments
used to play bachata are the lead guitar, the segunda guitar, the bass guitar, the bongos, and the güira
(Marracco, 2014). The lead guitar, the segunda guitar and the bass guitar are essential to play Bachata.
These instruments are the ones that make the most improvisation. Followed by the bongos, which are
a pair of single headed drums that are played with hands and fingers (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2017).
Overall, Merengue Tipico and

What Is The Pharaoh s Reason In The Book Of Exodus
In the book of Exodus from the Bible, God and Pharaoh both wish for possession of the Hebrews for
different reasons. Pharaoh rose to power in Egypt thinking he could use them to his benefit and the
city s benefit, all while trying to reduce the number inhabiting the powerful city, while God wanted to
free his people from the oppression occurring in Egypt. Pharaoh took the throne in Egypt only to come
to quick conclusions. The pharaoh stated, See! The Israelite people have multiplied...let us deal
shrewdly with them to stop their increase (Ex. 1:9 10). Pharaoh is not happy to see all of the Hebrews
occupying his city. He therefore puts them through harsh, intensive labor. He expects the Israelites to

Doctor Moorhead And A Patient Analysis
The common characteristic of Kim s works was to make detectives notice that the mysterious
phenomenon had been just an appearance, that is, to overturn the plot. What deserves attention here is
Freud s theory of humor, which has a remarkable analogy with Kim s strange plot. He gives an
example of humor as follows: A rogue who was being led out to execution on a Monday remarked:
Well, this week s beginning nicely. We feel a kind of humoristic pleasure here because of, according to
Freud, an economy in expenditure upon feeling. The situation that ought to drive the criminal to
despair might rouse intense pity in us; but that pity is inhibited because we understand that he, who is
more closely concerned, makes nothing of the situation. As a result of this understanding, the
expenditure on the pity, which was already prepared, becomes unutilized and we laughed it off. Then,
what does the condemned obtain from this remark? He talks as if it was no business of his and makes

The war on terror has changed how our country sees many things from travel, privacy rights, security
levels and a person s right to due process. The rights of accused terrorists have been stripped due to
the need for intelligence on future attacks as well as locations and persons involved in the larger
group. How does this loss of personal rights reflect on our country and the fundamentals it was

Under the Constitution the federal government can unquestionably suspend the privilege of the writ of
habeas corpus if the public safety requires it during times of rebellion or invasion. The issue is
whether Congress or the president holds this power. Historical perspective on that issue in the context
of the Civil War requires a study of the actions of Congress and the president, Lincoln s defense of his
suspensions of the writ, and presidential and congressional dealings with and reactions to each other.
The relationship between Lincoln and Congress, like the power of suspension, has received limited
historical attention, with the only extensive treatment a 1907 article by University of Wisconsin
professor George Sellery.
The writ of habeas corpus provides individuals with protection against arbitrary and wrongful
imprisonment. But it does not necessarily protect other rights, such as the entitlement to a fair trial. In
our country anyone accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty. This seems to be the
case unless you are accused of terrorism, then you are held outside of the US and are not subject to the
same laws or privileges allowed within US jurisdiction.
Habeas corpus is important to the current situation because it has to do with the right of defendants to
be charged with a crime and tried for that crime in a timely manner.

  • 3. Science Act Hypothesis This report examines and evaluate the Missouri Standard Science Act. I will describe the purpose and the contents of this bill, then discuss the discrepancies that I have found by comparing the definition of terms provided from its common definition, I will also the identify the validity of some arguments provided in this bill, and discern its inconvenience. The Missouri House Bill No. 911 or also known as the Missouri Standard Science Act was a legislation introduced in 2003 by the former Missouri Representative Robert Wayne Cooper from district 155. This bill suggests that the science instructions regarding evolution and intelligent design must be taught equally in public elementary and secondary schools. It also recommends a series of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the sentences can easily be refutable by means of showing evidence of natural selection and just by simply comparing the definition provided in this bill to its common or standard definition. Some of its definition was redefined in favor of the bill s request for equality, and the use of the words faith based philosophical beliefs and non verifiable does not conform to science. I believe that there is no idea of faith in science. The purpose of science is to study the natural world and base their findings on data, facts, and evidence, not by faith. In addition, the use of non verifiable on the bill suggests that if a scientist didn t see any type of discoveries with their own eyes, then it is not verifiable. This suggests that any theories such as the Big Bang and evolution is not verifiable. The biggest issue with this term is that by the same definition, intelligent design is also not verifiable. Missouri Standard Science Act provides an alternative fact where it redefines science, disregards it and requires the common definition of science not to be taught. This leads to fallacious assumptions and conclusions about science, its functions, and how it must be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Team selling is using the resources of a company to sell an account using all relevant decision makers. Focusing on these fundamentals will build sensitivity and trust among team members (Spiro et al 2003). Planning Presentations Sales presentations should be simple not overwhelming with information a customer may not be able to remember. The goal of a sales presentation is to sell a solution to a customer, that solution being the product or service of the salesperson. A presentation must be relevant, make a connection with the product and the prospect, be to point, use showmanship, be animated, use physical demonstration, and belief in the product. In a team selling environment, one person could give the presentation, one could answer questions, or however the team decides to set up the presentation. The one thing that should not happen is each person give there own presentation on the same product; do not confuse the customer. All team members should be clear on roles and responsibilities. A team should always be together so all members give the same answers and information to the customer. Selecting and Recruiting When hiring salespeople set of qualifications and a job description with the duties the salesperson will do should be established. Compare And Contrast On Dumpster Diving And On Compassion In On Compassion, an essay written by Barbara Lazear Ascher, compassion is observed through the eyes of someone who seems to be more fortunate. Dumpster Diving, a personal narrative written by Lars Eighner, features the adventures and tribulations of someone who does not easily survive in the hectic world that is the modern day. Through these two essays, the perspectives of the privileged and unfortunate. He expresses he did not expect compassion and that he found a living off of the refuse of others. Scavenging is much more complicated than many think, there is a certain science involved. The type of food, edibility, time it was disposed of, packaging and witnesses are all taken into account when finding a way to survive in another s trash. There were ways, Eighner was aware of, to increase the amount of good food in the area he scrounged from. I never placed a bogus order to increase the supply of pizzas and I believe no one else was scavenging in this Dumpster. Despite knowing he could increase his output of food found, he chose not to make more work for others or waste their resources. There is compassion found in this act. His essay is informative, expemplifying the difficulty in scavenging as a way of life. • 6. Vollmann Poor People Nelson Mandela once said, Poverty is not natural it s man made. This quote states that a person can overcome poverty if one has the desire to live a better life. In a novel called Poor People written by William T. Vollmann, the author travels around different countries and places to learn about poor people and to get a global perspective view. While interviewing different kinds of people, Vollmann would ask them one question: why are you poor? Looking at people s answers Vollmann noticed that some of the people gave quite interesting answers. Vollmann went through a lot of situations where he just couldn t imagine what life would be if he was ever to live like that. Another novel that has a similar poverty situation is called Let The Water Hold Me Down, written by Michael Spurgeon. Hank, the main character of the novel, experiences a tragic moment in his life. Losing his wife and daughter while drowning, this tragedy left him feeling like it s all due to his miscarrying about them. His life becomes full of sorrow, and the only way out it was to go to Mexico to his friend s place and restart his life over. In a new country of Mexico, this story takes place. Even though he had money, a house, and friends support, he still experienced lots of pressure trying to survive in Mexico. Poverty has different meanings in everyone s lives but by reading these two novels, there are three similarities that can be made about people living in poverty. When traveling to different ... Investigating The Correlation Between Surface Area And Volume AIM To investigate the relationships between the shape of an object and the time taken for a substance to diffuse into its center and to investigate the correlation between surface area and volume in regards to cellular transport. BACKGROUND THEORY / INTRODUCTION Cells are the basic unit of life of which all living organisms are built upon, they are the smallest living organizational unit and they all come from pre existing cells which has been supported by several scientists in the formation of cell theory [Biological physics, 2013]. The structure of a cell is strongly correlated with its function and the way it acts in relation to other cells and biological processes such as diffusion. Cells are specialized for many different purposes and their structures reflect these functions. Every living organism can be classified into two different cell groups; eukaryote cells and prokaryote cells. What is 1080 used for 1080 is a poison used to protect the threats to native animals and plants from introduced species. The pest control poison is effective in killing these introduced species which kill our native animals/plants especially rats, stoats and possums. Mainly found in vegetation lands, it prevents pests from eating healthy crops and native animals. However, 1080 is a hazard to children, dogs, and many other animals. This potential hazard can spread to bodies of water and can be present in a specific areas for an extravagant amount of time. This danger makes 1080 an unethical choice for controlling pests. • 14. J.L. Mackie s Evil and Omnipotence Essay J.L. Mackie s Evil and Omnipotence The philosopher J.L. Mackie wrote a very convincing piece on the problem of evil called Evil and Omnipotence, in which he attempts to show that one of the following premises must be false in order for them to be consistent with each other. #1. God is omnipotent. #2. God is morally perfect. #3. Evil exists. The problem of evil is a deductive a priori argument who s goal is to prove the non existence of God. In addition to Mackie s three main premises he also introduces some quasi logical rules that give further evidence to his argument. First he presumes that a good thing will eliminate evil to the extent that it can and second, that omnipotence has no limits. From these two additional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mackie saves the strongest and probably the most popular theistic response to this argument for last. The free will solution claims that the existence of 2nd order evils is not a product of God but of mankind s own freewill. The supporters of this claim hold that freedom is a good even greater than 2nd order goods and believe that God is justified for letting 2nd order evils exist in exchange for the ultimate good of freedom. This is to say that even though God is omnipotent he chooses not to use his power to control the will of men. In comparison to the first two theistic responses this one seems to be the best. So it is surprising how easily Mackie disproves it. He asks, if God is all good and all powerful, and if free will is good enough to justify 2nd order evils, why didn t he create men so that they would freely choose to do good? The only possible objection to this is to say that God s power is limited and that he is not omnipotent. Also if God is omniscient doesn t he already know the outcomes of the men which he has created? To truly allow man to have free will God would have to restrict his own power in order to be unable to control men and this leads us to the Paradox of omnipotence. Another attempt to prove the problem of evil is the evidential version of the argument. This argument attempts to show inductively that the existence of God is not likely. This form is much ... The Civil Service Reform ( Csr ) 1.0 Introduction/ Background Improvement, change and innovation are almost constant, as the service environment remains dynamic in tune to the trend of the society. Civil service reform (CSR) is one of the most intractable yet important challenges for governments and their supporters today. However, CSR might have failed in some states; this is not to say the process is not pertinent as governments and their supporters today seize opportunities availed by the reformation. To buttress this fact, Sarah (2012) posited reformation as a tool touches not only on government s very purpose of existence, but also on some of its most sensitive, protected areas. Authors like Sarah (2012), Antwi, Analoui and Nana Agyekum (2008) subscribed to the assertion that civil service is the backbone of the state, supporting or undermining the entire system of governance. This system of governance is however open to notable modifications termed reforms, since administrative heads change, and every administrator has his/her style. In this context, Evans, (2008) cited in Sarah (2012), traced the account of CSR and broke it into three phases. The first phase took place in the 1980s. This period was characterized largely by donors supporting various aspects of institutional development realizing the civil service s crucial role in changing policy. • 21. My Six Fundamental Pillars Of Character 1. Loyalty. I chose loyalty as my first pillar of my Six Fundamental Pillars of Character because loyalty has been something I have cherished for my entire life. I believe being a loyal friend and/or family member is the most important characteristic for anyone to have. I believe this because if one does not have loyalty, what is their purpose? Loyalty is important to me because I personally want loyalty from others, so I provide loyalty to others. I have always lived my life on the concept that you get what you put in. One who is dishonest, is not a loyal person. To be loyal, you must be entrusted to tell the truth and nothing but the truth at all times. Educated. One who is loyal, must be educated enough to be someone to rely one. If someone wants to be trusted but is not wise enough to treat their trust correctly, they are not loyal. The loyal person must know how to take things into perspective and know how to relate to the situation and act accordingly. Dedicated. To be loyal, one must be dedicated to their characteristic. They must be success driven, timely and organized in EVERY situation. If the loyal person is only loyal to one person, or in only some situations, they are not truly a loyal person. Kind. A loyal person must also be kind enough to be approachable. If a person isn t kind enough to be approached, they cannot be labelled as loyal, because they aren t given the chance to prove they are. But, at the same time they must also be realistic, and know how to help. 2. Safe. My second pillar is my characteristic of safety. Those who wish to consume the services of prostitution will ultimately continue to do so, regardless of whether or not it is legal or illegal.
