1. Color CRT displays use phosphors and one of two methods - beam penetration or shadow mask - to generate colors.
2. The beam penetration method uses red and green phosphors and electron beam speed to produce four colors, while the shadow mask method uses three color phosphors and electron beam deflection through a shadow mask to generate millions of colors.
3. Flat panel displays like LCDs and plasma panels provide alternatives to CRTs with reduced size and power use, though early types had limitations in features like color capability.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
The Art Pastor's Guide to Sabbath | Steve ThomasonSteve Thomason
What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2. COLOR CRT MONITORS
• It is used by the combination of phosphors.
• The phosphors are different colors.
• Two popular approaches are:
1.Beam Penetration Method
2.Shadow-Mask Method
3. 1. Beam Penetration Method:
• Random scan monitors
• CRT screen is coated with two phosphor colors: red and green.
• Displayed color depends on the speed of the electron beam.
• produces four colors only:
i.e.,red, green, orange and yellow.
• speed of electron:
❖ slow---red color(hit the red layer)
❖ high speed---green color(hit the green color)
❖ Medium speed---orange or yellow color(hit the intermediate screen)
5. Beam Penetration Method:
• Advantage:
1. Inexpensive
• Disadvantages:
1. Only four colors are possible
2. Quality of pictures are not good.
6. SHADOW MASK METHOD
• Raster san system
• Three phosphor color dots:
1.Red phosphor
2.Green phosphor
3.Blue phosphor
• Three electron guns are used.
7. SHADOW MASK METHOD
• Uses shadow mask grid behind the phosphor screen.
• Three electron beams are deflected and focussed as a group onto a
shadow mask – form a dot triangle
• Another configuration of the electron gun – inline arrangement
Dot triangle
10. SHADOW MASK METHOD
• Advantages:
1.Realisitic image
2.Million different colors to be generated.
3.shadow scenes are possible
• Disadvantages:
1.Expensive
2.poor resolution
12. DIRECT VIEW STORAGE TUBES
• Use the random scan approach
generate the image on the CRT screen
• Storage Tubes:
It refers to the ability of the screen to retain the image which has
been projected against it.
14. FUNCTION OF GUNS:
FUNCTIONS OF GUNS

GUNS
STORE THE PICTURE PATTERN MAINTAIN THE PICTURE
DISPLAY
15. DIRECT VIEW STORAGE TUBES
• ADVANTAGES:
1.No refreshing is needed
2.High resolution
3.Less expensive
DISADVANTAGES:
1. Not possible to erase the part of a picture.
2.do not display colors
17. FLAT PANEL DISPLAY
• It refers to a class of video devices that have reduced volume, weight
and power requirement compare to CRT.
EX:
CALCULATOR,POCKET VIDEO GAMES
18. FLAT PANEL DISPLAY
EXAMPLES EXAMPLES
FLAT PANEL DISPLAY
EMISSIVE DISPLAY NONEMISSIVE DISPLAY
PLASMA PANELS AND LED LCD
19. EMISSIVE DISPLAY
• Converts electrical energy into light.
• Examples are:
1.Plasma Panels
2.Thin film electroluminescent display
3.LED(Light Emitting Diodes)
20. PLASMA PANEL DISPLAY
• Also called as gas-discharge displays
• Construted by filling the region between two glass plates with a
mixture of gases(neon)
• Two conductors:
1.vertical conductors break down into a glowing
plasma of electrons and ions.
2.horizontal conductors
22. PLASMA PANEL DISPLAY
• Firing voltages are applied
To refresh the pixel position 60 times per sec.
Advantage:
Display brighter
Disadvantage:
Display color and grayscales
23. THIN FILM ELECTROLUMINESCENT DISPLAYS
• Similar to plasma panel
• Region between the glass plates is filled with a phosphor
24. THIN FILM ELECTROLUMINESCENT DISPLAYS
• Disadvantages:
1.requires more power than plasma panel
2. good color and gray scale are difficult to achieve.
25. LIGHT EMITTING DIODE(LED)
• Matrix of diodes is arranged to form the pixel positions in the display.
• Picture definition is stored in a refresh buffer.
Scan-line refreshing of a CRT
Information is read from the refresh buffer
Converted to the voltage levels
Applied to the diodes
To produce the light patterns in the display.
26. LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY(LCD)
• Non-Emissive device
• It produce picture by passing polarized light from the surrounding or
from an internal light source through a liquid-crystal material that
transmits the light.
• LCD uses the liquid-crystal material between two glass plates;
• Each plate is the right angle to each other between plates liquid is
filled.
• One glass plate consists of rows of conductors arranged in vertical
direction.
• Another glass plate is consisting of a row of conductors arranged in
horizontal direction.
27. LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY(LCD)
• The pixel position is determined by the intersection of the vertical &
horizontal conductor.
• This position is an active part of the screen.
• Liquid crystal display is temperature dependent. It is between zero to
seventy degree Celsius.
• It is flat and requires very little power to operate.
28.
29. LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY(LCD)
• Advantage:
❖Low power consumption.
❖Small Size
❖Low Cost
• Disadvantage:
❖LCDs are temperature-dependent (0-70°C)
❖LCDs do not emit light; as a result, the image has very little contrast.
❖LCDs have no color capability.
❖The resolution is not as good as that of a CRT.
