Why Is Siddhartha Important
Sometimes, in life we lose everything that we deem as important so that we are able to find out what
truly is. The two works that I ll be examining correspond to this statement. By examining the works
Siddhartha by Herman Hesse and The History by Herodotus, we can see that being happy in life doesn
t always come easily and there are some bumps along the road to get there. Siddhartha shows us that
in order to achieve the happiness that we want, we have to look at the life we are living at the moment
and decide if it is what we really want. And The History also shows us that in order to achieve the
happiness we want in life, we have to reflect on the life we ve lived and make a change. Siddhartha
and Croesus teach us that the obstacles we face are the stepping stones ... Show more content on

In the dream, Siddhartha approaches the birds cage in his dream and realizes that the once lively bird
can no longer sing and is actually lying in the bottom of it dead (Hesse, 73). In this single moment,
Siddhartha can see that his whole life had no meaning whatsoever. The thing about Kamala s bird was
that in a way it represented life, in which Siddhartha knew his was essentially taking a wrong turn.
This whole time he thought that he had been truly living and following the path he was supposed to,
he actually was not. What Siddhartha needed to do was reevaluate his existence and figure out which
path he was going to take to correct all of the wrongs that he has made. Once he knew that he had
completely changed into a person that he did not like, He decided that leaving town was the best move
for him. This was the first step that Siddhartha took that made sense. The fact that he knew he had to
change his life for the better is the best thing that could have happened to Siddhartha. Otherwise, he
would have been stuck in that miserable life that he thought he was happy

My Father Essay
Our world is filled with so many different types of people. As life goes on, people come and go just
like you pass cars on the highway. Some grow old while others die young. I have met so many
incredible and unbelievable people over the years. However, there is one person who stood out to me
above others, my father. He was someone like no other person could be. My father helped me through
everything. It is very heart breaking to say I no longer can go to him for anything, but I know he is
watching me from above. I would do anything to be able to talk to him again. My father impacted my
life tremendously like no other person has before. In the beginning, my father was a man who worked
his whole entire life, even up to a week before he passed away. He was very determined, smart, and
indescribable. He was someone who would take his own life for someone else and helped everyone he
met. All of the memories I have made with my father is significant to me. I have cherished each and
every one, whether it was good or bad. Losing someone is hard and your life completely changes.
Strengthening my faith in God has helped me the most through this tough time. No one said life was
going to be easy, but the bumps in life lead you to become a stronger person. Since my father has
passed away, he has made me change the way I look at life. Never take anything for granted and
always try your very best. If you set your mind to something, you will become successful. When I was
a few weeks old,

What Is The Context Of Macbeth
Societies of different cultural contexts hold many ideologies, and the people of the time period are
expected to not stray from them. William Shakespeare s innovate and tragic drama, Macbeth,
published in 1606 and set in the Jacobean/Elizabethan (Early Modern England), sketches the story of a
Scottish nobleman Macbeth, who one day encounters three witches who conjure dark notions of his
future and tell the prophecy that he will one day become King of Scotland. The drama follows through
with Macbeth as his ambitious desires and obsession with royalty lead to his ultimate downfall
inchmeal, involving madness, murder and utmost guilt. Macbeth is a reflection of its context of
production as it endorses the ideologies and stereotypical beliefs that

Research Paper On Diego Rivera
Diego Rivera The artist that i am going to write about is Diego Rivera. Rivera was born in
Guanajuato, Mexico on december 8, 1886. Diego had a twin brother named Carlos, who died two
years after they were born. Rivera was said to have converso ancestry (having ancestors who were
forced to convert from Judaism to catholicism. Rivera wrote in 1935: My Jewishness is the dominant
element in my life. Rivera began drawing at the age of three, a year after his twin brother s death. He
had been caught drawing on the walls. His parents, rather than punishing him, installed chalkboards
and canvas on the walls. As an adult, he married Angelina Beloff in 1911, and she gave birth to a son
in 1916 1918. He married his second wife, Guadalupe Marin, in june 1922. With whom he had two
daughters Ruth, and Guadalupe. He was still married when he met art student Frida Kahlo. They
married on August 21, 1929 when he was 42 and she was 22. Their mutual infidelities and his violent
temper led to divorce in 1939, but they remarried December 8, 1940 in San Francisco. Rivera later
married Emma Hurtado, his agent since 1946, on July 29, 1955, one year after Kahlo s death. Rivera
was an atheist. His mural Dreams of a Sunday in the Alameda depicted Ignacio Ramirez holding a

Golden Age China Research Paper
Golden Age China had a greater cultural influence than did 21st century China, whereas 21st century
China has had a greater economic influence. There were many cultural benefits from the Golden Era,
including religion, fine arts, and innovations. As a result of the peace and stability which formed
during the Tang dynasty, Buddhism was introduced and became a dominant religion among the
Chinese. Alongside the new religion, Taoism was also a major religion in China. Through the bonding
of these two religions, several other religions emerged, such as the Pure Land Sect, Tian tai sect, and
also Chan Buddhism. These new branches of the religions were called sects.
Along with religion, the fine arts were also a major part of Chinese life from the Golden Era. Due to
the influences of the Silk Road and prosperity of the Tang dynasty, China experienced a time in which
the fine arts were further developed. Sculptures, paintings, and the most prevalent of Golden Age
China, poetry, were created. Famous poets, such as Tu Fu and Li Bo, both of whom are still sometimes
believed today to be the greatest of Chinese poets in history, created some of the most famous pieces
of literature during the Tang dynasty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Another major influence that Golden Age China had was its innovations. During this time, new
techniques, a new form of currency, and tools were created. For example, block printing was invented
as a way of speeding up the printing process. Also, the use of paper money was introduced so that
coins would not have to be carried everywhere. The

billion dollars each year to career and technical education programs across the US, with the final goal
being to improve the US economy. The Act was first authorized by the federal government in 1984

Bilingualism In Richard Rodriguez s Hunger Of Memory
I was 13 years old the first time I traveled to the Czech Republic to visit some family. My family there
spoke very little (if not any) english, so I always wondered the fun of communicating with them by
speaking Czech. I told myself on the plane ride back to the US that I would learn Czech in order to
talk with my family the next time. The second time I went to Europe, we not only went to the Czech
Republic, but to Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Poland. I was so excited to use the little bit
of Czech I learned; not to mention, I was excited to hear all the different languages. By the time I
came back to Europe, most street signs had English subtitles, as well as most food products. My
family even knew fluent English! The memory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Academic research displays that, students who are bilingual have advantages, not only in their literacy
development, but in the development of problem solving skills and other areas of cognition (US
Department of Education). Since learning and using more than one language is beneficial to students,
couldn t it be beneficial to everyone? A simple Spanish menu in every English restaurant could make
an impact on anyone in the daily public. For those like Rodriguez, I think learning more than one
language should not feel forceful nor fearful, but an optional opportunity for more knowledge in
another culture and identity. Personally, I felt less fear and pressure to learn czech when I saw the
English subtitles. The subtitles helped me understand the Czech language more when I compared it to
my own English language. However, I forgot most of my Czech language within a few months in US.

Rome And Greek Democracies
Rome and Greece were milestones in human history, the reason was they were the imitators of the
democracies. Even though Roman and Greek political systems were both democracies, the origins and
specific details of their politics were different. In fact, Athens, since Greek was a city states country,
so different cities had different political systems, the one ruled through democracies was called
Athens. Because of population increment and economic expression caused huge pressure to the

The most obvious and important difference was culture, which had also influenced us today. Because
of the philosophies of Greece, to find out the only truth, speeches or debates were popular in western

opening their own shops. China separated lands into individuals to let them feed themselves, and the
money of government mainly came form taxes. Therefore, the main differences between Western

Negative Effects Of Technology On Sleep
One night you go to bed late and when you wake up the next morning you realize just how bad you
feel. You might want to think about what and how you used technology as you were trying to get to
sleep or staying up until all hours of the night harmed your sleep. One reason teens might have
problems getting enough sleep is that teens have habits that negatively affect their sleep. Some
examples of bad habits are the use of technology and not going to sleep at a reasonable time.
However, the use of technology isn t always bad. One positive effect of using technology while trying
to sleep can be seen when listening to low aroused music, for example. It is when teens use
technology for other things that they hurt themselves. While some bad habits of teens can harm your
sleep, some behaviors can make your sleep better. Teens are negatively affected by their use of
technology at night. When you use your electronic devices at night you are risking your sleep. When
teens use their electronics at night the stay up because of, the blue light emitted by screens on cell
phones, computers, tablets, and televisions restrain the production of melatonin, the hormone that
controls your sleep/wake cycle or circadian rhythm. Reducing melatonin makes it harder to fall and
stay asleep (National Sleep Foundation). This means that using your electronics is bad because you
stay up playing on them rather than getting your well needed sleep. Also you need to keep your

Mexico s Current Political System
Mexico s official name is the United Mexican states. Mexico s current political system derives from
the Constitution of 1917, which arose from the Mexican Revolution. The Constitution captures the
ideals of the Revolution and reflects three centuries of Spanish colonial rule. The Constitution protects
the rights of workers, peasants, and organizations. It guarantees the right to have an eight hour
workday, rights for women and children workers, and rights for minimum wage being sufficient
enough to satisfy the necessities of life. In order to make a change to the constitution requires there
needs to be the approval of both houses of the federal legislature and the approval of at least 17 of the
32 state legislatures. (Geo Mexico) Mexico s political system is a federal republic based on
presidential democracy. The government has three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The
executive branch is the most important. The president serves a six year term and cannot be re elected.
The president appoints the 18 cabinet secretaries who run their ministries and they rarely ever meet.
Only the president is has the power to veto bills and enforce/execute laws. Mexico does not have a
vice president, the constitution provides a process by which, in the case that the president becomes
vacant before the election, the Congress chooses a temporary president and then holds a new election.

Tobacco is one of the most popular products in today s market, but in order to be universally known, it
needs to be advertised either by magazines and newspapers or by posters but not by television as due
to mounting clue of health dangers television commercials for smoking were banned beginning in

But although conflict as to the effects of smoking and bans on smoking by certain religious groups,
the use of tobacco continued to develop (The Columbia Encyclopedia, 1). The roots of advertising
exist thousands of years in the past. One of the first known ways of advertising was the outdoor
display, usually an eye catching sign painted on the wall of a building. In medieval times word of
mouth praise of products gave rise to a simple but effective form of advertising, the use of so called
town criers. The criers were citizens who read public notices aloud and were also employed by
merchants to shout the praiser of their waves. Although graphic forms of advertising appeared early in
history, printed advertising made little headway until the invention of the printing press. In the end of
19th century many companies began to produce packaged products under brand names. This increase
was used in a new period in the history of advertising. Previously, such everyday household goods as
sugar, soap, rice, molasses, butter, milk, lard, beans, confectionery, candles, and pickles had been sold
in nearby shops from bulk packages. As a conclusion, consumers had seldom been
aware of, or inspired by, brand names. Public relations specialists have advertising as a way of
communication, that is why outdoor posters,

I Am David Archetypes
Carl Jung a Swiss psychiatrist defines archetypes as being a collectively inherited unconscious idea,
pattern of thought or image universally present in individual psyches (Jung, 1951:147). The archetype
of journey is in particular prominent in Anne Holm s I am David. This will be proven by referring to
David s ambitious journey to find his promise land, David s quest for identity, and lastly David s
search for love.
David, a twelve year old boy has lived his whole life in a concentration camp and when he escapes, he
embarks on an ambitious journey to find his promise land. As David embarks on his journey he starts

1. How abundant was oxygen in the early atmosphere?
The earth s early atmosphere contained only small amounts of free oxygen, produced by the reaction
of water vapor with sunlight. The oxygen rich atmosphere that developed later and on which oxygen
breathing life now depends was result of the origin and spread of organisms capable of
photosynthesis.
2. What evidence do scientists have that the oxygen content of our atmosphere has increased since the

Safavid Pottery Art
The Safavid Empire was the first to take under control the whole Persia since the Sasanian Empire.
From 1501 to 1736, art greatly flourished under this Shiite Dynasty led by significant patrons such as
Shah Tahmasp and Shah Abbas. Persian pottery art was one of these art forms that rapidly developed
during this period. Safavid potteries had origins in Persian tradition and was influenced by Ottoman,
European and Chinese styles. Since early 9th century, Chinese porcelains and celadon wares have
been traded to the Middle East. Because of the hardness, whiteness and translucency of porcelain and
metal like color of celadon, these Chinese products have always been valued much more than local
ones. Since Yuan Dynasty (13th 14th century), new style ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is made of stonepaste covered with copper green glaze. The only decorations are patterns carved
around the body of the plate instead of being painted. This piece closely resembles Chinese celadon
wares from Longquan. The glaze was made from copper instead of iron that was normally used for
celadon wares. Differed from traditional colorful Persian art, this plate only has one color. Its
monochrome green color, the lack of decoration and short foot demonstrate its imitation of celadon
wares. Safavid craftsmen did not stop at purely borrowing Chinese designs, but incorporated local
traditions in different ways. The blue and white porcelain like potteries with Persian shapes are one
significant example. The Tulip Vase (Figure 3) has a baluster form body with three short nozzles. This
stonepaste piece was painted in blue under transparent glaze, thus only has two basic colors: blue and
white. On the wide flat rims of each nozzle, there are painted flower petals surrounding the center
opening. On the neck of the vase, there are repeating decorative motifs including perhaps birds and
clouds at the top, along with vertical flowers and leaves motifs closer to the body. The paintings on the
top part of the body appear to have three identical birds and clouds in compartmentalized sections
around the vase. Below the birds, there are bamboos, rocks, flowers and a peacock. At the lowest part,
there are repeating decorations in geometric forms and vine motifs. The iconographies of swirly
clouds, bamboos and rocks are very similar to common Chinese ones. The swirly clouds means
fortune and heaven, while the bamboos represents longevity, resilience, flexibility, and strength.
Judging from the blue and white color. Meanwhile, the birds, peacocks and patterns on the lower part
of body could be seen in both Chinese and Islamic artworks. The most distinct part is the shape of this
vase. It is often

Organization s Model Of Health Care Performance, Quality...
The purpose of this paper is to discuss my organization s model of health care performance, quality
assessment, and management. Improving the quality of health care in the United States is necessary
(Sherwood Zomorodi, 2014). According to Huber (2014), based on measurable criteria, health care
quality is knowing whether care resulted in expected clinic outcomes. Health care quality and safety
are part of Saint Mary s Medical Center s mission, vision and culture. For instance, the organization s
vision statement includes delivering high quality health care services in compliance with all applicable
rules, regulations, and standards, which calls for system wide quality improvement (SMMC, 2016).
Furthermore, the organization stresses that all employees are responsible for identifying opportunities
for improvement (SMMC, 2015). Moreover, it is important to note, nurses are bound by their Code of
Ethics to protect the health and safety of patients (Huber, 2014). Organizational Quality Program,
Goals, and Structure Saint Mary s Medical Center s quality goals include patient centered care that
improves patient outcomes, patient safety, and reduces health care cost (SMMC, 2015). The
organization s mission, vision, and quality improvement goals ensure accountability of all employees,
for examples reducing falls, pressure ulcers, and central line associated bloodstream infections

Essay on Depression in Hopkins Sonnets of Desolation
Depression in Hopkins Sonnets of Desolation
Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844 1889) was, first and foremost, a man of the cloth. He seems to have set
his gifts in musical composition, drawing, and poetry at a distant second to his ecclesiastical duties for
most of his life, causing him to experience terrible bouts of depression. Hopkins poured out this
depression in what are known as the Sonnets of Desolation, including I wake and feel the fell of dark,
not day, Not, I ll carrion comfort, Despair, not feast on thee, and No Worst, there is none. Pitched past
pitch of grief. In his 1970 essay entitled The Dark Night of the Soul, Paul L. Mariani tells us that

Though all of his works contain strong religious themes, he seems never to have been able to fully
reconcile his art with his job, his chosen way of life. Mary, mother of us, where is your relief? he asks
the Virgin Mary, but it seems he is crying out to the heavens for succor yet at the same time utilizing
his poetic talent to soothe and comfort himself through emotional expression (No Worst, line 11).
Another important factor in Hopkins depression is that he was not successful as a priest. According to
Mariani, there is no hard evidence that Hopkins ever felt he had been the triggering action for even
one convert. Yet conversions are what he wished for his whole life (54). In the poem I wake and feel
the fell of dark, not day, it is clear that, perhaps as a result of this failure (and in his view, coupled with
his artistic indulgences,) Hopkins feels distanced from and powerless to communicate with God: And
my lament/ Is cries countless, cries like dead letters sent/ To dearest him that lives alas! away (line 6).
Here Hopkins laments his lack of accomplishment as a preacher, and lets fall a sliver of doubt
regarding his poetic prowess; he has sent many letters to Bridges containing unpublished poems are
those poems dead as well? This isolation and severance of communication with God also echoes the

The Role of an Individual in International Law
Student`s name:
Institution of Learning:
The Role of an Individual in International Law At a glance, one may assume that individuals do not
play a significant role in international law. International law may seem too broad to encompass
individuals in any society. This is because that international law has no jurisdiction. It applies
regardless of the local jurisdiction sometimes even overriding local legislation. Courts may use
international law to pass judgement on tricky cases. However, individuals play a significant role in
international law. International law focuses mainly on the individual. It ensures that individuals get
justice mostly in situations when the national ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because some parties such as women had limited rights compared to other citizens of the same
country. One of the rights that young sovereign nations denied women in their territory is suffrage.
However, parties that had limited rights gradually gained their rights albeit after undergoing long
durations of painful struggle.[2] However, the individual still played a significant part in international
law even before the formation of the United Nations. Even before the formation of the United Nations,
there was a humanitarian law that sought to reduce the effects of war on civilians and combatants.
Humanitarian law also had rules that dictated how states should treat aliens by granting them
protection. However, the individual was usually associated with the state of residence and not
regarded as an autonomous entity in international law. During the Second World War, the link between
sovereignty, citizenship and rights that citizens of sovereign states had was apparent. Sovereign states
did not always protect the rights of their citizens, as they did not prevent other nations from inflicting
atrocities on some of their citizens. However, the Second World War made protection of human rights
a core issue of various sovereign states and the international community. The Second World War led to
the formation of many sovereign states.[3] As more and more states became sovereign, the

Lab Report On Gram-Negative Bacteria
In the world of microbiology it is vitally important to be able to discern the identities of
microorganisms. Not only is it important in a lab setting but as well as in healthcare in general.
Properly identify what strain of bacteria a person has will aid in the proper medicine and dose given.
Throughout the semester we have learned about different types of bacteria and certain test that can
clearly identify them. The purpose of this lab report is to identify a Gram positive or Gram negative
bacterium. Using all the knowledge of procedures and lab techniques identify the unknown and
discuss all the tests you performed.
Introduction
Gram staining is a technique used to determine if the bacteria is Gram positive or Gram negative.
Gram staining procedure uses crystal violet stain, iodine moderator, alcohol decolorizer and safarin
counter stain. In Gram negative bacteria the primary stain will be washed out with the decolorizer and
it will be stained with the counterstain. Whereas in Gram positive bacteria the primary stain will not
leave the cell wall. This difference comes from difference in the structure of the cell wall that retains
the stain.
The Gram positive cell wall is composed of peptidoglycans, a thick layer of protein sugar complexes
taking up 60 90% of their cell wall. Peptidoglycan is composed of two glucose derivatives, N
acetylmuramic acid and N acetylglucosamine alternated and cross linked by tetrapeptides that is
composed of L alanine, D glutamine, L lysine

Elements Of Mise-En-Scene
Snyder s usage of the elements of mise en scene creates the theme of inevitability by the camera shots
that were incorporated throughout the movie, the expression that the character had when they were
facing adversities, the choice of music that were incorporated during each of the scene and how each
one of the characters actions affected the outcome of how they were going to survive. An example of
one of the elements of mise en scene was the lighting during the scene when one of the shuttles was
overturned on the side of the road. The lighting in this scene created a feeling of suspense and fear
which causes the mood of the setting to become more intensified. The scene starts with the mall

Hydrogen Organic Compounds Of Wells G H
This groundwater investigation seeks to monitor physical and chemical parameters sufficient to
characterize groundwater throughout the study area and ultimately determine the source of chlorinated
organic compounds in Wells G H. In addition to analyzing samples for conventional parameters
(groundwater table elevation, field parameters, chemical concentrations), this study will incorporate
technology utilized in the emerging field of environmental forensics to conduct compound specific
isotope analysis (CSIA) and attempt to chemically fingerprint contaminant sources to identify

Characters In William Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Tragic Hero
In the play Hamlet , Shakespeare dramatises the revenge found within Prince Hamlet when he is
greeted upon by his father s ghost who calls for him to avenge his death. Throughout the play you
come to find that Hamlet s uncle is the one that killed his father, in order to steal the fair maiden and
the throne . With these occurrences happening in Hamlet s life he is known as a tragic hero. It takes
three things to be considered a Tragic Hero: Being from Noble Blood, has a tragic flaw, and
experiences a downfall. Hamlet begins with noble intentions whenever he introduced to a new
conflict, throughout the play his never ending peril and conflicts reign over him until his death. Sadly,
Hamlet died before he could see any of the outcomes from his actions. In Shakespeare s Hamlet the
leading character, Hamlet faces three turning points that caused him to ultimately be named a Tragic
hero: the death of his father, the impeccable use of his words, and his ability to fake his madness to get
a confession from his uncle, which ultimately ended with his demise. In Act 1 Scene 5, Hamlet s
father appears once again, but this time had the intent to talk to Hamlet. With a bitter tongue and a
sincere warning, Hamlet s father exhorted, Tis given out that, sleeping in my orchard. A serpent stung
me; so the whole ear of Denmark. Is by a forged process of my death. Rankly abused: but know, thou
noble youth. The serpent that did sting thy father s life. Now wears his crown. (Act 1 Scene

The Theme Of Slavery In Octavia Butler s Kindred
Fiction is a vast topic with many works about slavery, but few would be considered science fiction. In
Kindred, Dana, an African American woman living in 1976, teleports back to 1815 into her ancestor s
plantation in Maryland. Dana is in a hostile environment, when her life is in danger she teleports back
to the future; although she keeps getting sent back to the past, with every experience more dangerous
than the last. Throughout the novel, Octavia Butler developed the theme of we should act based off of
our beliefs. A belief that Dana had was that slavery was unjust. Since Dana believed that slavery was
unjust she tried to influence Rufus in his younger days so he would have as many fond memories of
her, and not be as brutal on slaves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On pages 260 261, Dana stabbed Rufus multiple times in the attic. The main factor that lead to Dana
stabbing Rufus was her belief that Rufus needed to free more of his slaves. If Dana did not act based
off of her beliefs, many of the slaves futures would have been altered. Alice made multiple significant
decisions because of what she believed in. Alice believed that she had more opportunity running away
with Isaac than she did staying in Maryland; Alice ran away from with Isaac in parts 3 and 4 of The
Fight. Alice later got caught and recalled They beat me. I remember, the dogs, the rope... They tied me
behind a horse and I had to run but I couldn t. (page 158). If Alice had not run away, Rufus would not
have had to buy her, and Haager would not have been born. Another essential choice that Alice made
was hanging herself. Rufus refers to Alice and Dana as being only one woman (page 228). Alice
analyzes this as Rufus thinking her and Dana are similar, but only wanting her in bed, and wanting
Dana out of bed(page 228). This is important because Alice perceives Dana as a white nigger , an
African American who acts like a white; Alice thinks that since Rufus thinks Dana and her are similar,
that she is also a white nigger . The thought of being a white nigger is too much for Alice so she hangs
herself (Page 248). If Alice did not hang herself Dana

Socrates On Death
With the end of his trial and fate of his life determined, Socrates was sentenced to death. Though, he
was not surprised that they found him guilty and sentenced him to death, it was quite peculiar the
outcome of the votes that found him guilty were not vastly far apart compared to the people who voted
to sentence him to death. While pondering over he thought of his death, Socrates gave his own
perspective on the possibilities on what could be after he is executed. Though he gave a relatable
perspective on death which was relatively optimistic, my own view is moderately different than that of
Socrates. After his fate is determined, Socrates articulates that he is not as much as concerned with
avoiding death as he is to avoiding unrighteousness, which he says is faster than death ... Show more

Whereas in this eternal life, a man would not be punished and put to death for questioning. If this may
be the truth of the result of the afterlife when passing on, one will be much happier while also being
immortal. For these reasons he see s death as an end to all his troubles. He believes evil can do no
harm to a good man, rather it be in this world or the external realm of another. Socrates comes to the
realization his life has ended and theirs to be lived. Although, he does not know which would be the
better selection, for that is what only God may know. There are experiences in life which some of use
will come across and some of us will not. But what is inevitable, the one eternal experience we all will

Archetypes In Kingsolver s The Bean Trees
Because flowers go in cycles of life and death, we can look to them as archetypes. The cycle is really
closely related to the circle which is a very prominent archetype in the world today and the past. The
other thing I think of when I hear the word flowers is gardens. When I looked for the garden archetype
I found that gardens symbolize love and fertility (YourDictionary 2). Flowers and gardens also have
many symbols associated with them depending on who you ask.
Missy and her mother are shelling peas together talking about Missy getting a job (Kingsolver 5). This
section reminds me of when I shelled peas with grandma. There aren t any bean plant specific
archetypes but the color green symbolizes earth and growth (YourDictionary 3). Shelling beans can
constitute a change. In the book The Bean Trees this means that Missy is likely going to come out of
her shell and show who she really is. This foreshadows a little about how likely she is going to start a
life of her own and leave. This use of the symbol really adds to the story because it shows a growth of
the main character early on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I think of the marigold I think of the time when I was a child and I loved to see marigolds. They
remind me of grandma s house and the beauty of the garden. When I looked it up I found that the

book Missy is still interested in riches, but it s different than we would expect. Missy is interested in
the riches of knowing and raising a child who she loves and cares for. This adds depth to the story
because there is a drastic difference between the beginning riches and the riches at the end of this

Past Offenders Are Neglected And Vulnerable
Past Offender Often past offenders are neglected and deemed as vulnerable needless risk, leaving a
negative effect on employers willingness to hire (ALBRIGHT DENQ, 1996) when being compared to
law abiding citizens with no history of breaking the law. It s assumed, previous offenders who no
longer yearn the desire to participate in criminal behavior can be a great asset to troubled teens. Past
offenders offer the unique personal experience of offering mentoring skills which reach beyond one s
educational knowledge and experience. Past offenders will be relied upon to develop customized plans
of execution to teach mentees first hand how to avoid systematic hurdles when attempting to transition
from being a delinquent to working towards obtaining goals and taking advantage of opportunities
through effective planning and decision making. In juvenile justice, offenders may have alternative
desires outside of traditional schooling. Often ex offenders are interested in seeking careers such as
carpenters, plumber, electricians, auto mechanics, or information technology. Opportunities which
offer discretionary flexibility towards ex offenders, yet share the same opportunities as white collar
employees. Community Leader Since continuous learning is essential throughout effective
mentorship, the long term collaboration with community leaders is fundamentally essential. Such
community leaders consist of religious leaders, city council members, and business owners.

Alaska that killed him at 24 years old. Along the way, he encounters many people who have been

Westerberg discovered that Alex s name was actually Chris. This made Westerberg curious about who
Alex actually was and the problems that he had with his family. McCandless became someone who

The Pregnancy Outreach And Birth Mothers
For my cultural plunge, I decided to sit in at a birth mothers care group for women who decided to
give their child or children up for adoption. This care group is one of many care groups held by Crisis
Pregnancy Outreach. Crisis Pregnancy Outreach, or CPO is a nonprofit organization assisting women
in crisis, such as those experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Their main mission is to help woman find
alternate solutions to unplanned pregnancies that do not result in abortion.
Each week women gather at Christian Chapel, a church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to meet with mentors to
discuss what they endured that week. There are several different care groups. The most attended
groups are the parenting and birth mothers groups. I decided to sit in at a birth mothers group, which
was uncomfortable for me. This care group is held for birth mothers who have gave their child or
children up for adoption. Some of the birth mothers experience open adoption, meaning they have
some form of communication with their birth children. Although some birth mothers obtain closed
adoptions, where they have no communication with their birth children.
This experience was very eye opening for me. I cannot relate to any of these women because I have no
children, nor am I a product of adoption. It was truly amazing to hear each of their testimonies. One
story that stood out to me was of a woman that was around my age, and decided to place her son for

First Impressions Of African Americans
First Impressions It is amazing how a first impression can affect something. It can determine how an
entire culture is perceived. The first impression is the birthplace of a stereotype. A reference point
based on a minority giving off the impression that the entirety is the same. These ideas are a plague to
the human race that goes uninterrupted, and here is no greater victim of succumbing to impressionable
stereotypes than the youth. The first impression of the African people resulted in their image suffering.
Africa has been given the stereotype that everyone is primitive and living in poverty. This is only a
very small population but this idea of them being less fortunate has more traction to the human mind.
People enjoy pitying the less fortunate and let s them feel like they are a good person. This seems
childish and self centered, but it is a major drive in the human psyche to be this way. The idea that
Africa is full of mostly poverty is simply not true. That s only a very minute amount of the population.

preconceived notions and stereotypes. If humans as a species want to get past stereotyping then they
need to start by training the youth, because the youth is the future of the human race. Unfortunately,
big business and government officials use stereotypes as propaganda to push a product or idea to the

Detention Argumentative Essay
Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach that man to fish and he will never go hungry. The
same can be said for behavior correction in our youth. Give the child detention, and he will not be
disruptive for a day. Teach that child how to better control their feeling and behavior, and he will make
clear minded and thoughtful choices for a lifetime. Detention is a disciplinary action that tells the
student they made a bad choice with their behavior. However, it does not teach the student how to
make better behavior choices. Detention has been around for many years as the solution for disruptive
and ill behaved children, however; the rise in diagnosed anxiety disorders among teenagers is 25%.
With suicide now the third leading cause of death among young teenagers, (Lynch, 2016) it is clear,
detention is not the solution to the problem. Meditation on the other hand, helps the students to focus

Marx s Critique of Capitalism
by Tom Chance
Throughout his work, Marx s primary concern was the intellectual destruction of capitalism. Despite
his belief in a progressive history, and in the inevitable downfall of capitalism, Marx thought that in
destroying capitalism s intellectual support he could hasten its real demise and usher in a socialist era.
Many of his works can be seen as reactions to the growing status of the relatively new field of political
economy, pioneered by figures like Adam Smith, David Ricardo and Thomas Malthus, whose
increasingly laissez faire theories promoted an extension of exactly the features of capitalism that
Marx thought were most defective. Hence his critique ranges from attacks on the complacent liberal
bases of capitalism to complex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Marx went further, to claim that it is the mode of production [that] constitutes the economic
structure of society and to which correspond definite forms of social consciousness (Marx, 2001b :
425). To illustrate, a society that is predominantly based around farming will have an economy based
on the seasons, markets, and definite social relations between farm owners and farm workers. If, as
Marx claimed, it is the social being [of men] that determines their consciousness , then it is the case
that an individual s consciousness is determined by the forms of social consciousness, which are
themselves determined by the modes of production in said society. In other words, Marx thought that
it was in the economic superstructures that social and political strife have their origins, and so that
political theory ought to concern itself with modes of production, rather than abstract ideas such as
justice and liberty. And it was in the structures of capitalism that Marx found his major concern, and
which he saw as both the source of all strife in the developed world, and as a necessary step in the
development of society.
In fact, some Marxists claim that we should not criticise capitalism because it is unjust, but because it
crushes human potential, destroys fraternity, encourages the inhumane treatment of man by man, and
has other grave defects generically different from justice (Cohen : 139) Whether one accepts that

Grief Is A Natural Human Process Essay
Globally grief effects every individual, multiple times across the lifespan. Grief is described as a
person s individual reaction to loss, including all domains of wellbeing e.g. physical, emotional,
cognitive, behavioural, social and spiritual (Greenstreet, 2004). Paramedic practises are frequently
confronted by death, and associated grieving families. For this reason, it is fundamental that current
and future emergency medical professionals understand that grief is a natural human process, which is
unique and different for every individual (Buglass, 2010). In order to gain a perceptive understanding
of grief and the implications it may have in the paramedic practise, this essay will cover four
important aspects. The essay will coverbereavement theories, cultural sensitive strategies, effects of
grief and stress onparamedics andresources available to help professional maintain good wellbeing.
This will in turn produce an overview of the topic of grief in a paramedic practise perspective.
Many theorists have proposed models which depict the processof grieving in different ways. Elisabeth
Kubler Ross is a theorist who proposed a stage based theory on coping with grief. According to
Kubler Ross theory (1969), it describes the grievance process taking place in the form of five stages,
including: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Kubler Ross theory (1969) depicts
coping with grief as a linear pathway, where an individual must pass each one to overcome grief

Aids Memorial Quilt Research Paper
The NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt is a place for people to celebrates the lives of people who
have died for the causes that related to AIDS. It works as a commemoration for social and personally

funerals since the surviving family members felt social imputation of AIDS, and many funeral homes
or cemeteries refused to accept the deceased s remains. This social phenomenon made AIDS activist,
Cleve Jones, have an idea for the AIDS Memorial Quilt. In the candlelight March in1985, Jones asked
people to write the names of their family members who were killed by the AIDS related causes on
signs. Then he was inspired by the signs that were taped on the San Francisco Federal Building. To
Jones, all the signs looked like a huge patchwork quilt. In 1987, Cleve Jones, Mike Smith, and

Finding Vivian Maier is a very intriguing documentary film that traces and hunts the life story of
Vivian Maier. She was a nanny that happened to be a street photographer in Chicago, who has taken
more than 100,000 photographs. John Maloof a Chicago historian wrote, directed, and produced the
film with the help of Charlie Siskel. It all started when Maloof came across a box full of negatives at
an auction while doing some research. The auction house gave him the name Vivian Maier as the
name of the photographer but he could not find out any information about her. He scanned and looked
at all of those negatives, printed, and posted them on a blog website. Because of this, her photographs
gone viral and news from different countries came out. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maloof decided to exhibit them but there were still no signs of Vivian Maier. He bought more boxes of
negatives and boxes of some Maier s belongings. After some tracing and tracking down, Maloof found
out Maier s death. This did not stop him continuing his research for who Vivian Maier really was.
Despite of the difficulty, Maloof searched and looked for all people who were possibly connected to
Vivian Maier. The focus of the documentary film revolved around the journey and the quest of John
Maloof in discovering more about the woman who has an extraordinary gift in taking exemplary
photographs. The film is mostly devoted to interviews and testimonials from different people who had
connections with Maier s life, mostly the children who grew up in Maier s care, and from the two
contemporary masters, Joel Meyerwitz and Mary Ellen Mark.
Vivian Maier was mostly remembered as a tall, awkward, and oddly dressed nanny in New York and

  • 2. Why Is Siddhartha Important Sometimes, in life we lose everything that we deem as important so that we are able to find out what truly is. The two works that I ll be examining correspond to this statement. By examining the works Siddhartha by Herman Hesse and The History by Herodotus, we can see that being happy in life doesn t always come easily and there are some bumps along the road to get there. Siddhartha shows us that in order to achieve the happiness that we want, we have to look at the life we are living at the moment and decide if it is what we really want. And The History also shows us that in order to achieve the happiness we want in life, we have to reflect on the life we ve lived and make a change. Siddhartha and Croesus teach us that the obstacles we face are the stepping stones ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the dream, Siddhartha approaches the birds cage in his dream and realizes that the once lively bird can no longer sing and is actually lying in the bottom of it dead (Hesse, 73). In this single moment, Siddhartha can see that his whole life had no meaning whatsoever. The thing about Kamala s bird was that in a way it represented life, in which Siddhartha knew his was essentially taking a wrong turn. This whole time he thought that he had been truly living and following the path he was supposed to, he actually was not. What Siddhartha needed to do was reevaluate his existence and figure out which path he was going to take to correct all of the wrongs that he has made. Once he knew that he had completely changed into a person that he did not like, He decided that leaving town was the best move for him. This was the first step that Siddhartha took that made sense. The fact that he knew he had to change his life for the better is the best thing that could have happened to Siddhartha. Otherwise, he would have been stuck in that miserable life that he thought he was happy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. My Father Essay Our world is filled with so many different types of people. As life goes on, people come and go just like you pass cars on the highway. Some grow old while others die young. I have met so many incredible and unbelievable people over the years. However, there is one person who stood out to me above others, my father. He was someone like no other person could be. My father helped me through everything. It is very heart breaking to say I no longer can go to him for anything, but I know he is watching me from above. I would do anything to be able to talk to him again. My father impacted my life tremendously like no other person has before. In the beginning, my father was a man who worked his whole entire life, even up to a week before he passed away. He was very determined, smart, and indescribable. He was someone who would take his own life for someone else and helped everyone he met. All of the memories I have made with my father is significant to me. I have cherished each and every one, whether it was good or bad. Losing someone is hard and your life completely changes. Strengthening my faith in God has helped me the most through this tough time. No one said life was going to be easy, but the bumps in life lead you to become a stronger person. Since my father has passed away, he has made me change the way I look at life. Never take anything for granted and always try your very best. If you set your mind to something, you will become successful. When I was a few weeks old, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Diego had a twin brother named Carlos, who died two years after they were born. Rivera was said to have converso ancestry (having ancestors who were forced to convert from Judaism to catholicism. Rivera wrote in 1935: My Jewishness is the dominant element in my life. Rivera began drawing at the age of three, a year after his twin brother s death. He had been caught drawing on the walls. His parents, rather than punishing him, installed chalkboards and canvas on the walls. As an adult, he married Angelina Beloff in 1911, and she gave birth to a son in 1916 1918. He married his second wife, Guadalupe Marin, in june 1922. With whom he had two daughters Ruth, and Guadalupe. He was still married when he met art student Frida Kahlo. They married on August 21, 1929 when he was 42 and she was 22. Their mutual infidelities and his violent temper led to divorce in 1939, but they remarried December 8, 1940 in San Francisco. Rivera later married Emma Hurtado, his agent since 1946, on July 29, 1955, one year after Kahlo s death. Rivera was an atheist. • 8. Golden Age China Research Paper Golden Age China had a greater cultural influence than did 21st century China, whereas 21st century China has had a greater economic influence. There were many cultural benefits from the Golden Era, including religion, fine arts, and innovations. As a result of the peace and stability which formed during the Tang dynasty, Buddhism was introduced and became a dominant religion among the Chinese. Alongside the new religion, Taoism was also a major religion in China. Through the bonding of these two religions, several other religions emerged, such as the Pure Land Sect, Tian tai sect, and also Chan Buddhism. These new branches of the religions were called sects. Along with religion, the fine arts were also a major part of Chinese life from the Golden Era. Due to the influences of the Silk Road and prosperity of the Tang dynasty, China experienced a time in which the fine arts were further developed. Sculptures, paintings, and the most prevalent of Golden Age China, poetry, were created. Famous poets, such as Tu Fu and Li Bo, both of whom are still sometimes believed today to be the greatest of Chinese poets in history, created some of the most famous pieces of literature during the Tang dynasty. ... • 10. Bilingualism In Richard Rodriguez s Hunger Of Memory I was 13 years old the first time I traveled to the Czech Republic to visit some family. My family there spoke very little (if not any) english, so I always wondered the fun of communicating with them by speaking Czech. I told myself on the plane ride back to the US that I would learn Czech in order to talk with my family the next time. The second time I went to Europe, we not only went to the Czech Republic, but to Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Poland. I was so excited to use the little bit of Czech I learned; not to mention, I was excited to hear all the different languages. By the time I came back to Europe, most street signs had English subtitles, as well as most food products. My family even knew fluent English! The memory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Academic research displays that, students who are bilingual have advantages, not only in their literacy development, but in the development of problem solving skills and other areas of cognition (US Department of Education). Since learning and using more than one language is beneficial to students, couldn t it be beneficial to everyone? A simple Spanish menu in every English restaurant could make an impact on anyone in the daily public. For those like Rodriguez, I think learning more than one language should not feel forceful nor fearful, but an optional opportunity for more knowledge in another culture and identity. Personally, I felt less fear and pressure to learn czech when I saw the English subtitles. The subtitles helped me understand the Czech language more when I compared it to my own English language. But although conflict as to the effects of smoking and bans on smoking by certain religious groups, the use of tobacco continued to develop (The Columbia Encyclopedia, 1). The roots of advertising exist thousands of years in the past. One of the first known ways of advertising was the outdoor display, usually an eye catching sign painted on the wall of a building. In medieval times word of mouth praise of products gave rise to a simple but effective form of advertising, the use of so called town criers. The criers were citizens who read public notices aloud and were also employed by merchants to shout the praiser of their waves. Although graphic forms of advertising appeared early in history, printed advertising made little headway until the invention of the printing press. In the end of 19th century many companies began to produce packaged products under brand names. This increase was used in a new period in the history of advertising. Previously, such everyday household goods as sugar, soap, rice, molasses, butter, milk, lard, beans, confectionery, candles, and pickles had been sold in nearby shops from bulk packages. From 1501 to 1736, art greatly flourished under this Shiite Dynasty led by significant patrons such as Shah Tahmasp and Shah Abbas. Persian pottery art was one of these art forms that rapidly developed during this period. Safavid potteries had origins in Persian tradition and was influenced by Ottoman, European and Chinese styles. Since early 9th century, Chinese porcelains and celadon wares have been traded to the Middle East. The only decorations are patterns carved around the body of the plate instead of being painted. This piece closely resembles Chinese celadon wares from Longquan. The glaze was made from copper instead of iron that was normally used for celadon wares. Differed from traditional colorful Persian art, this plate only has one color. Its monochrome green color, the lack of decoration and short foot demonstrate its imitation of celadon wares. Safavid craftsmen did not stop at purely borrowing Chinese designs, but incorporated local traditions in different ways. The blue and white porcelain like potteries with Persian shapes are one significant example. The Tulip Vase (Figure 3) has a baluster form body with three short nozzles. This stonepaste piece was painted in blue under transparent glaze, thus only has two basic colors: blue and white. On the wide flat rims of each nozzle, there are painted flower petals surrounding the center opening. Past Offenders Are Neglected And Vulnerable Past Offender Often past offenders are neglected and deemed as vulnerable needless risk, leaving a negative effect on employers willingness to hire (ALBRIGHT DENQ, 1996) when being compared to law abiding citizens with no history of breaking the law. It s assumed, previous offenders who no longer yearn the desire to participate in criminal behavior can be a great asset to troubled teens. Past offenders offer the unique personal experience of offering mentoring skills which reach beyond one s educational knowledge and experience. Past offenders will be relied upon to develop customized plans of execution to teach mentees first hand how to avoid systematic hurdles when attempting to transition from being a delinquent to working towards obtaining goals and taking advantage of opportunities through effective planning and decision making. In juvenile justice, offenders may have alternative desires outside of traditional schooling. Often ex offenders are interested in seeking careers such as carpenters, plumber, electricians, auto mechanics, or information technology. Opportunities which offer discretionary flexibility towards ex offenders, yet share the same opportunities as white collar employees. This care group is one of many care groups held by Crisis Pregnancy Outreach. Crisis Pregnancy Outreach, or CPO is a nonprofit organization assisting women in crisis, such as those experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Their main mission is to help woman find alternate solutions to unplanned pregnancies that do not result in abortion. Each week women gather at Christian Chapel, a church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to meet with mentors to discuss what they endured that week. There are several different care groups. The most attended groups are the parenting and birth mothers groups. I decided to sit in at a birth mothers group, which was uncomfortable for me. This care group is held for birth mothers who have gave their child or children up for adoption. Some of the birth mothers experience open adoption, meaning they have some form of communication with their birth children. Although some birth mothers obtain closed adoptions, where they have no communication with their birth children. This experience was very eye opening for me. I cannot relate to any of these women because I have no children, nor am I a product of adoption. It was truly amazing to hear each of their testimonies. One story that stood out to me was of a woman that was around my age, and decided to place her son for adoption. At the time when she placed him, she was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. First Impressions Of African Americans First Impressions It is amazing how a first impression can affect something. It can determine how an entire culture is perceived. The first impression is the birthplace of a stereotype. A reference point based on a minority giving off the impression that the entirety is the same. These ideas are a plague to the human race that goes uninterrupted, and here is no greater victim of succumbing to impressionable stereotypes than the youth. The first impression of the African people resulted in their image suffering. Africa has been given the stereotype that everyone is primitive and living in poverty. This is only a very small population but this idea of them being less fortunate has more traction to the human mind. People enjoy pitying the less fortunate and let s them feel like they are a good person. This seems childish and self centered, but it is a major drive in the human psyche to be this way. The idea that Africa is full of mostly poverty is simply not true. That s only a very minute amount of the population. There is much more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If humans as a species want to get past stereotyping then they need to start by training the youth, because the youth is the future of the human race. Unfortunately, big business and government officials use stereotypes as propaganda to push a product or idea to the people. It is frightening how well it works, however. • 36. Detention Argumentative Essay Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach that man to fish and he will never go hungry. The same can be said for behavior correction in our youth. Give the child detention, and he will not be disruptive for a day. Teach that child how to better control their feeling and behavior, and he will make clear minded and thoughtful choices for a lifetime. Detention is a disciplinary action that tells the student they made a bad choice with their behavior. However, it does not teach the student how to make better behavior choices. Detention has been around for many years as the solution for disruptive and ill behaved children, however; the rise in diagnosed anxiety disorders among teenagers is 25%. With suicide now the third leading cause of death among young teenagers, (Lynch, 2016) it is clear, detention is not the solution to the problem. • 37. Marx s Critique of Capitalism by Tom Chance Throughout his work, Marx s primary concern was the intellectual destruction of capitalism. Despite his belief in a progressive history, and in the inevitable downfall of capitalism, Marx thought that in destroying capitalism s intellectual support he could hasten its real demise and usher in a socialist era. Many of his works can be seen as reactions to the growing status of the relatively new field of political economy, pioneered by figures like Adam Smith, David Ricardo and Thomas Malthus, whose increasingly laissez faire theories promoted an extension of exactly the features of capitalism that Marx thought were most defective. Hence his critique ranges from attacks on the complacent liberal bases of capitalism to complex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But Marx went further, to claim that it is the mode of production [that] constitutes the economic structure of society and to which correspond definite forms of social consciousness (Marx, 2001b : 425). To illustrate, a society that is predominantly based around farming will have an economy based on the seasons, markets, and definite social relations between farm owners and farm workers. If, as Marx claimed, it is the social being [of men] that determines their consciousness , then it is the case that an individual s consciousness is determined by the forms of social consciousness, which are themselves determined by the modes of production in said society. In other words, Marx thought that it was in the economic superstructures that social and political strife have their origins, and so that political theory ought to concern itself with modes of production, rather than abstract ideas such as justice and liberty. And it was in the structures of capitalism that Marx found his major concern, and which he saw as both the source of all strife in the developed world, and as a necessary step in the development of society. In fact, some Marxists claim that we should not criticise capitalism because it is unjust, but because it crushes human potential, destroys fraternity, encourages the inhumane treatment of man by man, and has other grave defects generically different from justice (Cohen : 139) Whether one accepts that ... It works as a commemoration for social and personally expressive. During the 20 centuries, many people who died of AIDS related causes did not have funerals since the surviving family members felt social imputation of AIDS, and many funeral homes or cemeteries refused to accept the deceased s remains. This social phenomenon made AIDS activist, Cleve Jones, have an idea for the AIDS Memorial Quilt. In the candlelight March in1985, Jones asked people to write the names of their family members who were killed by the AIDS related causes on signs. Then he was inspired by the signs that were taped on the San Francisco Federal Building. To Jones, all the signs looked like a huge patchwork quilt.
