Ida B. Wells Summary
While social media was very limited in 19th century, an activist liked Ida B. Wells fought against
lynching activities by increasing public awareness through editorials and her pamphlets. With her
powerful, pamphlets, Wells used it to explain the idea of the lynching by providing the evidences from
all the lynching cases that she had collected. As the raped cases were the crime that often fell on the
black victims, Wells began her writing called A Red Record to sort out and explain to the readers that
most the raped cases were created by the mobs as an excuse to kill the blacks. As of her persistence in
her campaign against lynching, she was able to increase international awareness of the violence
created by the mobs against blacks. Comparing

How Did Pat Tillman Show Loyalty
Somewhere inside, we hear a voice. It leads us in the direction of the person we wish to become. But it
is up to us whether or not we follow. Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman once said this, and from looking at his
life, you can see that he followed that voice. Tillman was born in San Jose, California on November 6,
1976 to Mary and Patrick Tillman. He attended Leland High School where he excelled at football. He
went on to play at Arizona State University, where they took notice of his incredible talent, and
personality. After he graduated from Arizona State he was drafted in the seventh round and ended up
on the Cardinals. After September 11, 2001 Tillman was hit hard, and decided that he was going to
serve his country. Sadly, Tillman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His freshman year in high school Tillman tried out for baseball, however after making the JV team he
decided that he would rather try being a football player. At first that was a confusing goal, Tillman was
not shaped like a football player. However, he surprised everyone. When he was just a sophomore he
got moved up to the varsity team, ending up being the youngest person on the team at only age 16.
During his NFL years he set a recorded for the most number of tackes totalling 224. However, Tillman
didn t only work hard on the field, but also in school. Tillman graduated in only 3.5 years with a 3.84
grade point average. Adding to that Tillman went back to get his masters for history during his NFL
years. Overall, Tillman was a hard working man. During one off season Tillman decided that he was
going to run a marathon. He said he was going to do it, so he did it. He had this phrase that just shows
how hard working he was. You can accomplish anything if you just push yourself through it. Through
running a marathon, to getting high grades, to being an amazing football player you can see that Pat

The giant, ravenous beast roared loudly, scaring the flying, hungry birds from their nests. The great

Comparing Love In Pride And Prejudice And Romeo And Juliet
Pride and Prejudice and Romeo and Juliet are two of the most acclaimed and outstanding English
literature composed about the conflict of love. Although both William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
and Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice are two different genres of literary, one as a play and the other, a
novel both have had a huge impact on the sense of marriage and love. Despite both works are set
during the Regency Era and the Renaissance Era, I will demonstrate that both are certainly similar
regarding love and marriage.
Not only were women considered inferior to men but they were raised to believe it. In addition, it was
common that marriages were organised to establish/forge/form alliances with other aristocratic

Cryptography Essay
Abstract With the expansion in the field of computers and highly technically advanced communication
mediums like internet there is a necessity to secure the transmission of data. The information that is
transmitted over the internet is a highly sensitive and critical information which needs to be protected
from adversaries, hackers, and eavesdroppers etc. who bypass the existing security and perform
dangerous actions. Cryptography is the art and science of keeping the data transfer secure from
adversaries, hackers and eavesdroppers. Cryptography and its algorithm forms one of the essential
components to the security mechanisms in order to safeguard the data transmissions and data storage.
Without the use of cryptography the emails and information can be intercepted without any authorized
access.
After researching academic papers related to cryptography I understand the basic working of DES
algorithm and the cracking of the DES algorithm by brute force technology. I would like to explore
the cryptographic algorithms, the flaws associated with the algorithm. In this paper, I will discuss
about the DES algorithm and deficiency with the DES algorithm. I will discuss the existing problem
with double DES algorithm and the basics about the Triple DES and the problem with respect to the
Triple DES. A brief overview of AES has been provided.

Forensic Psychologist Essay
In this unit the role of the industrial psychologist will be discussed in relation to forensic psychology.
The HPCSA does not currently have a separate registration category for Forensic Psychologist as such
and most forensic work is done by clinical and industrial psychologists that specialised with a
postgraduate thesis or with additional training in forensic psychology. The registration categories in
psychology, which are recognised by the Professional Board of Psychology (HPCSA), are research
psychology, industrial psychology, educational psychology and counselling and clinical psychology
(Unisa, 2012).
How can forensic psychology be defined? It is psychology as a specialist field of knowledge applied
to the legal field. It is applied in order to inform legal specialists and the legal courts to make informed
decision about matters of human behaviour. The psychologist as a specialist and expert is sometimes
at odds with the exact nature and specific legalistic procedures of the courts as human behaviour is
hardly an exact science and often requires the specialist skills of observation and assessment and
interpretation of a human sciences specialist. In the ordinary context most psychologist acts ... Show

Reluctant Fundamentalist
US immigration is a major component of The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and contributes greatly to the
plot as well. Hamid s use of US immigration affects the plot of the story as it connects to the theme of
identity, through the use of ashamed tone as well as precise diction. First of all, the use of ashamed
tone demonstrates how US immigration is associated with the theme of identity. For example, as
Changez rides in a limousine with his colleagues, he spots a Filipino driver: There was an undisguised
hostility in his expression; I had no idea why ... But his dislike was so obvious, so intimate, that it got
under my skin. I stared back at him, getting angry at myself. (67). The words hostility and dislike

For instance, as Changez arrives at Manila with Underwood Samson, he states: Perhaps it was for this
reason that I did something in Manila I had never done before: I attempted to act and speak, as much
as my dignity would permit, more like an American. Even though Changez is a US immigrant, it is
suggested that he still acted in a Pakistani behavior, as he states how he had never specifically acted in
the stereotypical American way. Additionally, the fact that Changez attempts to act like an American
demonstrates how his identity isn t just American, but also Pakistani as well. This defines the theme of
identity, as Changez feels troubled and confused about where he really is from, and where his loyalties
lie. Furthermore, Changez states how at Manila, he learned to answer, when asked where [he] was
from, that [he] was from New York. (65). Changez stating how he was specifically from New York
shows how he identifies the place as home, similar to his real home in Pakistan. It is shown through
previous chapters that New York contains many parts of Pakistani culture, explaining why Changez
relates to New York in such a cheerful and excited tone. Even so, while many relate the US and New
York as identical, Changez separates the two places, stating how America represents the egotistical,
condescending behavior that it expresses on others. Changez resorting

Analysis Of Love In The Time Of Cholera
Love in the Time of Cholera is a skilfully crafted novel in which Gabriel Garcia Marquez takes the
reader on the labyrinthine love journey of the two characters, Fermina Daza and Florentino Ariza. The
novel, which is told by a non judgemental omniscient narrator, reveals love in a multi faceted manner
that may seem conventional on the surface, yet, the portrayal of love has been adeptly designed to
incorporate the novel s historical context. The story takes place between the late nineteenth and the
beginning of the twentieth century, in a Caribbean seaport city in Colombia. The context of both time
and place intertwines social traditions, economic hierarchies and political ideologies that collectively
play a role in the characters development. The development of Fermina and Florentino s characters
reveals differentiated worldviews on gender issues; these perceptions are displayed through their
exhibition of love to each other and minor characters. In Love in the Time of Cholera, Marquez
blatantly tells the novel in a non prejudicial way which focuses on the revolutionising dominant
patriarchal ideologies and attitudes. Hence, a feminist lens will be used to explore the explicit and
implicit characterisation of Fermina and Florentino.
Marquez explicitly describes Florentino Ariza through his unattractive appearance and social class,
highlighting that despite the Florentino s aesthetics and legacy, his love for the socially superior
Fermina is eternally irreducible. The

Why Do Finches Survive
In the Galapagos Islands there is an island named, Daphne Major, this island plays as the host of the
Galapagos finches. In 1976 1977 there was an absolute near extinction of these finches. This is
because of the drought of 1976 and 1977 (see figure 1). While the drought made the Finch population
dwindle there was a hidden trait that was helping some survive, and that is beak size. Why did the
larger beaks help those fortunate Finches survive? Because the only plants that survived where plants
like the Tribulus, which produces hard shelled seeds. While there was an abundance of hard shelled
seeds there was a shortage of soft shelled seeds. The finches that had the larger beaks weighed more,
for example, survivors weighed approx. 12.5g to 17.5g with beak sizes going from 10.5 to 13.6(for
evidence see figure 2. This reduced the population because the Finch s with the smaller beaks couldn t
open the harder seeds and had to scavenge for soft seeds which were very rare. The finches with small
beaks, then died from starvation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Short beaked finches have less food source because they can t open hard seeds. Because of that they
die off from starvation. Birds with small beaks couldn t open the hard seeds so they had no food
source and struggled to find food they could eat. For evidence of the finches not being able to eat see
figure 3.
In conclusion the Galapagos Finches suffered a mass near extinction, although there was a secret
weapon the survivors had, beak size. The beak size not only helped the survivors survive, but it helped
them eat, see figure 2. The rainfall amount (see figure 1) played a major role in the extinction of the
finches by taking out the food sources. Lastly the Galapagos finches went to the urge of extinction, but
thankfully they were not all taken out by the lessened

reasons, Polanski wanted to use Panavision to give a flawed vision about the past, which the story is

the interpretation of the ending scenes.
First of all, Roman Polanski hired John A. Alonzo as the Director of Photography for Chinatown.

Confucianism has been for over 25 centuries, the dominant philosophical system in China and the

the many feudal states of the Chinese empire, persuading rulers to adopt his social reforms. They did

strive for perfect virtue, righteousness (called Yi) and improvement of character. They taught the
importance of harmony in the family, order in the state and peace in the empire, which they saw as

thus the attainment of social and national order. Stress is more on human duty and the ideal of the
superior man than on a divine or supramundane Reality. Still, Confucius fasted, worshiped

The Grand Nursing Theory Chosen By The Future Apn Is Roy...
The grand nursing theory chosen by the future APN is Roy s Model of Adaptation. In 1970, Sister
Callista Roy identified the need for conceptual frameworks to be developed in order to have a
foundation from which to build nursing knowledge. She developed the Model of Adaptation based on
her theory that all patients must adapt to his/her given situations; we as nurses must guide and
encourage positive adaptation for our patients (Roy, 1970). Roy s grand theory addressed all four of
Fawcett s concepts identified in her meta paradigm of nursing, adding an additional concept,
adaptation. Roy referred to the concept of person as man, identifying man as a biopsychosocial being
who received a nurse s services. Roy identified the environment as any and all focal, contextual, and
residual stimuli (1970). She addressed the concept of health as an aspect of a man s life, lying
somewhere along the health sickness continuum (Roy, 1971). In regards to the concept of nursing,
Roy identified nursing as a duty that helps and encourages man s response to environmental stimuli
(1970). The additional concept, adaptation, was identified by Roy as man s encounter and reply to any
given stimuli. This reply can be positive or negative (Roy, 1970). In addressing all the concepts
identified by Fawcett as nursing s meta paradigm, Roy strengthened her grand theory s foundation
thus adding strength to the foundation of nursing. In using Roy s framework as a model with which to

Theatre has been an evolutionary cultural superpower since the beginning of Greek theatre to the

Unlike Noh, Kabuki used more lively tactics to entertain it s audience using wild costumes, fireworks

additional curtain called a doncho depicts the season the performance is taking place, but wasn t used
until the Meiji Restoration. Kabuki stages have gotten more technology advance unlike Noh stages

Fay Weldon Letters To Alice
(THESIS) Jane Austen s didactic novel Pride and Prejudice (1813), written during the patriarchal
Victorian Era examines the intricate relationship between love and financial security in marriages.
Similarly, Fay Weldon s postmodernist epistolary novel Letters to Alice (1984) argues for the
importance of morally instructive texts as well as supporting the importance of finding a balance
between love and financial security within marriage. (CONC SENT)
By examining Austen s Pride and Prejudice in conjunction with Weldon s feminist assessment of
Regency values, an enhanced understanding of the institution of marriage is achieved. Austen,
influenced by Regency philosopher John Locke explores the importance of attaining a marriage which

Now, Austen mocks Mrs Bennet s obsession with marrying her daughters in the third person narration
To know that her daughter would be married was enough. She was not humbled by any remembrance
of her misconduct . In response, Weldon admits I take a very tender view of Mrs Bennet, more tender
than her creator does. But I am looking at a society from the outside in, not the inside out. educing
pathos for the difficulties faced by Victorian mothers from the readers by demonstrating the greater

females need to marry for economic advantage in the modern world. However, Weldon s analogy of
the pretty girl from Java marries the rancher from Australia...to escape hunger and poverty
paradoxically criticises claims of female autonomy being achieved as though large advancements have
been made in developed nations, these are not consistent across all nations. Thus, Weldon comments
upon Austen s characterisation of marriages to develop an assessment of the advancement of female

Persuasive Essay On Homework
Homework is defined as tasks assigned to students by school teachers that are intended to be carried

varied on the topic of homework. Historically, variation in the opinions of homework have shifted
over time due to educational trends and world events. Today, the topic of homework continues to
cause debate among various organizations and schools of thought. Although homework has
demonstrated positive effects on students, homework should not be given to students because it is not
assigned appropriately, stressful for everyone, and does not benefit all students. While there are many
negatives towards assigning homework, there are a few positives that should be mentioned. In the

The Smoke Signals By Chris Eyre
Smoke Signals, released in 1998, is a classic film that provides insight to the lives of Native
Americans living on reservations. There are very few films that attempt to portray Native Americans
at all, yet alone in a respectful manner. The characters are all played by genuine Native American
actors including: Adam Beach, Evan Adams, Irene Bedard, Gary Farmer, and Tantoo Cardinal.
Additionally, it is directed by Chris Eyre, another Native American. This film tries to overcome
stereotypes of Native Americans that are prevalent in society, and does so in a humorous way. Smoke
Signals takes the viewer along on a journey with the two main characters, Victor and Thomas. They
leave their reservation in Idaho to travel to Arizona in order to collect Victor s father s ashes. This film
is a classic because of it s timeless theme: forgiveness. Smoke Signals portrays the theme of
forgiveness by featuring Victor, a character struggling to forgive his late father for being an alcoholic
and leaving him as a child; Victor takes Thomas along on a trek to Arizona to retrieve Victor s father s
ashes. Smoke Signals is one of the few films that accurately depicts Native American life by genuine
Native American actors. This can be attributed to the fact that it is produced by Native Americans. The
1990s were a time of attempted political reform between the United States government and the
reservation inhabitants. A very relevant act passed by congress is The Native American Child

The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio
In the book, The Decameron, by Giovanni Boccaccio, there is many tales but I am only going to speak
of two.The first tale, Fabricio Goes to Naples, was told by Fiammetta. Fiammetta s story differs from
the rest of the stories by, his has many dangers that occur in one night rather than over a period of
years. The second tale, Bernardo di Rossini and His Wife, was told by Dioneo. This story was
different than the others by, it was a comedy story, showing to laugh over bad things than over
virtuous deeds.
In, Fabricio Goes to Naples, a man from Perugia, by the name of Fabricio, sold horses. When Fabricio
heard that Naples sold horses at a cheap price, he set out with a purse full of money and some
merchants, hoping to receive a good deal. Sadly, he couldn t find a good deal. Even to show he meant
business, he foolishly opened his purse to display all of his money. A sicilian lady saw how much
money he had and thought, Who would make better use of that money than me?
The sicilian lady was with an older sicilian woman, whom knew Fabricio. When the older woman saw
Fabricio she greeted him affectionately. Fabricio recognized the woman for she had lived with
Fabricio s father. When the two ladies got back home, the younger lady carefully questioned the older
one about Fabricio, in order to find a way to get all of his money. By the time the lady felt she was

Descriptive Essay On Drinking In School
Morning Routine Beep, beep, beep. Once I have heard that for the third time I finally drag myself out

that take place on a day to day basis are showering, getting dressed, fixing my hair, eating breakfast,
doing leftover homework, and brushing my teeth. Mentioned above, the first thing I do after getting
out of bed is take a shower. The right way to take a shower is with lukewarm or cold water because
scalding water is bad for your skin and it also hurts. After I ve gotten in the shower, I wet my hair
down, and then get a quarter sized amount of shampoo. From there, I lightly rub my hands together for

entire scalp in the shampoo lather, I tilt my head forward and rinse the shampoo out of my hair. After
the shampooing, I squeeze out a quarter sized amount of conditioner onto my hands. Then, I spread

Analysis Of The Book Outremer By Nabil Saleh
The thirteenth century showed a lot of tension between religious and political groups and leaders. The
church in those days had more power and control over the state. One religious tension in particular
was the hatred between Cathars and Catholics. While they both came from the Christian religion, the
Cathars had different beliefs and a different leading system than the Catholics, and the Catholics saw
the Cathars as heretics. The Cathars were overrunning the French land of Languedoc, and so a series
of wars started between the French Catholics and the Languedoc Cathars. In the book, Outremer, by
Nabil Saleh, we are introduced to many characters, religions, and relationships. It gives us a look at
how the different religions, political leaders, and families connected with or lived beside one another.
In my opinion, Outremer shows more religious tension than political tension during the thirteenth
century, but still it does not show the reality and full effect of the tension. From the beginning of the
book, we are shown the tension between Christians and Cathars when Aimeric s father sends him on a
mission to travel to Tyre and kill King Philip of Montfort. There is hatred between the two religions
from events that happened years ago, and the Cathars still want revenge on the Christians. Although
the main character, Aimeric, accepts his father s mission, he ends up meeting people from different
religions and getting along with them as if they were of his own family.

Poe s Life Reflected in The Raven Edgar Allen Poe is a well known writer and poet. He wrotemany

Describe the Concept of Jit and Its Relationship to...
Just In Time (JIT) is a management philosophy which implements systems or processes which aims to
maximise return of investment by maximising production efficiency, improving product quality,
reducing manufacturing and logistical costs, and the elimination of waste. JIT, as the name implies,
also means bringing the right materials at the right place at the right time. Items must arrive as and
when they are needed, neither earlier nor later, but just in time . In its strictest sense, inventory is
considered a waste in JIT. In logistics, JIT aims to eliminate waste of all forms; be it time, resources or
materials.
Although the JIT concept has been applied loosely for years by various organisations, the JIT
philosophy we know today can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the computers delivered were customized according to different customer requirements, without
compromising on quality. With JIT, production levels can be easily adjusted to meet demand.
Integrated supplier and distributor networks were instrumental in the success of Dell Computers.
Without these relationships, Dell would not have been able to support a 50+% growth rate for 3
consecutive years that lead to $12 billion in annual sales by 1997. (Fillard, Frahm, Mercer Scott, n.d.)
Although the JIT system managed to revolutionise numerous companies in the way they run their
logistics, it is not all a bed of roses for some companies. Since JIT does away with supply inventory,
companies are sometimes forced to be over dependent on their JIT suppliers. Sometimes they are at
their suppliers mercy. Examples of this can be found at Ford Motor Company and General Motors.
Ford faced a problem with one of its suppliers which forced them to shut down six plants which cost
them tens of millions of dollars. The supply company for General Motors had a strike, and supplies
could not be delivered. Two thirds of their plants had to shut down. This cost GM about $600 million
in profits in 1996. (Glenn, T. 2001)
For JIT to be efficiently implemented, it is vital for companies to have the right partner suppliers
which share the same JIT commitment and drive. Toyota

Angel Of The Last Judgment
Wassily Kandinsky s Angel of the Last Judgment was made during the pre war times in Europe.
Kandinsky s painting was included in the Merzbacher collection, a collection focused on how colour
had been used by European Artists in the 20th century. Kandinsky along with other Artists such as
Derain, Vlaminck and Braque were considered as Fauves meaning wild beasts a comment made by
Art critics who found their use of colour unnatural and aggressive. Along with Angel of the Last
Judgment, many paintings made around this time centralized around apocalyptic themes of chaos and
death. In the painting the viewer is caught in the middle of destruction with the piece s swirling arcs
that propel the eye across the canvas. Through prominent black lines an angelic silhouette is
implemented in the center of the painting. A sense of motion is conveyed with feathered strokes of the
figure s angelic wings. The upper borders are filled with warm reds and oranges with curved black
arcs interrupting and swirling around the piece. In the upper right corner of the painting immerges a
trumpet that seems to be screeching yellow and illuminates the whole painting. Four sharp like claw
marks cut through the silhouette and the painting itself. As your eyes travel down the image blues,

Political and Emotional Dictatorship within Junot Diaz s Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
Works Cited Missing
Junot Díaz published his first novel and second book The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao in 2006,
forty five years after the 1930 1961 rule of Trujillo over the Dominican Republic collapsed. That s the
central theme of the novel: dictatorship. It concerns not only political, man over man, Trujillo brutal
dictatorship (though that is a haunting image throughout), but also psychological despots: the
dictatorship of fear, of orphanage, of blighted love, of displacement, of cancer, of nerdiness, of
ostracization, of obesity, of unrequited love, of male sexual hunger (both under and over

Thus, for practical as well as literary reasons, Díaz focuses on the psychological and emotional
despots stemming from one political dictatorship?that of Trujillo . But Díaz, again, is disciplined: He
structures the plights of the Cabral Wao lineage as the history of fukú: Fukú began with Colombus s
step onto the sand of the West Indies and, as a V, expanded to the crushing poverty and political unrest
abounding in Latin America today, the plights of the Cabral Wao lineage began with Trujillo and
expanded with each generation, culminating in the doomed to sorrow, dictatorship riddled life of
Oscar Wao.
Because of this structure, it suits to begin with the earliest generation chronicled: thus, Oscar Wao s
grandfather, Abelard Luis Cabral. Abelard is a member of the Fortunate People (213)?read wealthy

remember, is the beginning of the Cabral Wao V. When the brutal Trujillo seizes power, however,
Abelard must maintain the outward appearance of the enthusiastic Trujillista (215), which he wasn t.
So he has to deal with keeping the household conversation off politics, but that is the only strong
despot of his life. Thus marks the bottom of the V, both for the entire Cabral Wao lineage recorded in

simple it has three stripes and they are green white red. According to encyclopedia Britannica Italy s

customs and traditions also, did you know according to encyclopedia Britannica they eat Sardinian

Italian people do! If you think about Italy s a pretty interesting country. Italy has much more cool back
round information than the facts I already told you. According to encyclopedia Britannica Italy is
mostly made up of Roman Catholics, although there are some Muslims and Protestants. Britannica
also says that some of history s most dramatic parts in history. They are old but still beautiful, like
temples alters and city walls are still standing. Some important businesses and industries in Italy
according to Britannica are chemical and petrochemicals, craftsmen, artisans, designers, builders, and

Compromises Of 1850
The 1850s were a time of attempted compromise when compromise was no longer possible. The
Union was becoming divided through many events in the time leading into the Civil War. The North
and South had too many hostilities to account for. Socially, the North and the South could not stand
what the other would do or say with anything. Politically, the government was completely divided and
undecided. And economically, the South began to prosper as the North began to struggle. Thus, during
the 1850s, socially, politically, and economically there was not any compromise that could fix the
problems beginning to occur. In the 1850s, the North and South could not agree on anything and were
in constant disagreements. In 1850, Henry Clay created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This made the south feel that slavery was okay since they took care of their slaves providing them
food, clothing, and shelter. This would make the slavery issue more undecided since it seemed
humanely correct. It would create a more difficult way to compromise since they all knew it was
wrong, but there were also rights of it. The literature made the compromise almost impossible to be
agreed upon since the reasons were so indecisive towards if slavery was correct or wrong. Another
issue also created stir in the country and that was Harper s Ferry. Harper s Ferry was when John
Brown captured an idea of arming and freeing slaves. He thought slaves would help, but he was
wrong. He fought with the army, captured, tried, and hung. The North condemned the violence but the
South did not believe them and saw Brown s raids as final proof the North s true intentions, to use
slave revolts to destroy the south. This showed that there would not be any more compromise to go
over since the South felt they knew exactly what was happening and wouldn t take anything for an
answer. The countries people were fighting and there was nothing to do. On the other hand, politicians
were in an uproar on what should be done and could not come to a solution for anything. The
government had become divided into two over the problems that were being started in the country.

China s Trade Imbalance With A Firm Level Data Set...
Measuring the magnitude of exchange rate pass through for Chinese exports is all the more relevant
because China s trade imbalance with richer trading partners, notably the United States, is often
perceived as exacerbated by exchange rate manipulations. Many indeed argue that an appreciation of
the renminbi would help rebalance China s trade. While the RMB was pegged to the U.S. dollar until
July 2005, Tang and Zhang (2014) noted that there were significant fluctuations in real terms from an
appreciation of 9% from 2000 to 2001 to a depreciation of 17% from early 2005. The extent of its
trade s response to a change in the exchange rate however depends on the magnitude of the ERPT and
on the price elasticity of Chinese exports and imports. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also find that the reaction of the Chinese exporting firms depends on their productivity levels:
high productivity firms tend to adjust their export prices, while low productivity firms tend to adjust
their export volumes. Héricourt and Poncet (2015) also find that exchange rate volatility reduces a
firm s decision to export and the value of these exports, but that these negative impacts can be
mitigated with the existence to well developed financial markets.
Our paper contributes to the literature on ERPT for Chinese exports by testing for heterogeneity in
Chinese firms responses to changes in exchange rate. The main data source is a database collected by
the Chinese Customs. It contains Chinese firm level export flows by year, product, custom regime,
firm type, and destination country, over the years 2000 2006. One distinctive characteristic of China s
trade lies in the importance of processing trade in total exports. From 2000 to 2006 the share of
processing trade in total export exceeded 50%.
Using micro level data allows us to circumvent some empirical issues one would face when estimating
the ERPT with aggregate price data . First, we can treat changes in the exchange rate as exogenous
(Feinberg, 1996). Second, using aggregate price indices to measure ERPT might lead to some bias in
the estimation, as prices of many goods do not change during these goods lifetime. Kim et al. (2013)

Balinese Cockfight Summary
Reading Report #2
Clifford Geertz, Deep Play: Notes on a Balinese Cockfight *Answers to Reading Report question are
intended to guide your explorations for your essay. Each answer should be a paragraph length (about 5
6 sentences).
1. How is this essay constructed? Describe the parts of the piece (and how many, etc.) Provide brief
descriptions of the work that each part is doing and how it goes about doing it.
Deep Play: Notes on the Balinese Cockfight is divided into eight or nine sections, each with their own
distinct style and message. The first section is titled The Raid and is told in the style of a narrative. In
it, Geertz reflects on his time in Bali with his wife in April of 1958. He reflects on the way the
Balinese people treated him; during his first week or so in Bali, Geertz and his wife were treated as
though they didn t exist. After witnessing a cockfight and running away just like the Balinese people
who also attended, however, Geertz and his wife were treated as though they were Balinese
themselves, and were completely accepted into Balinese society. In the second section, Of Cocks and
Men , Geertz reflects on different aspects of Balinese culture and how Balinese men, despite
cockfighting being illegal, strongly identify with it and even use the term to refer to different types of
men and their personalities. Additionally, Geertz points out that besides cockfighting, the Balinese are
strongly against doing anything that resembles an animal,

Family Structures And Family Structure Essay
1. In her book The Unfinished Revolution, Kathleen Gerson argues that today, family pathways are
more important than family structure. In this context, family structure refers to the organization of a
family, and the way that it has been changing as a result of the gender revolution. For example, some
nontraditional family structures that are explored in the book include double parent families with both
parents earning, single parent families (mostly single mothers), and families with same sex parents.
Gerson argues that while family structures are not negligible, it is family pathways that are more
important for the children of the gender revolution. That is to say, the children value the dynamics of
their family more than the structure. They are more concerned about how well their parents are able to
provide them with the necessary emotional and financial support than they are about how well their
families follow a norm. For them, it is more about feeling like they re part of a family rather than just
physically being in one. Gerson emphasizes this when she explains that the people she interviewed
focused on the long term consequences of parental choices, not on the specific form or type of home
these choices produced at any one moment in time. One important implication of this argument is the
way in which the children of the gender revolution imagine their own romantic relationships
unfolding. Even there, they prioritize a feeling rather than a format. For example, one

The Colonization Of Brazil
In order to completely grasp the colonization of Brazil, one must first take a look at the different
global forces that shaped the settlement and growth of Brazil. Beginning with the first inhabitants of
Brazil in order to fully understand how it all began, then moving on to when the Portuguese arrived in
1500, and finally understanding how Brazil gained its independence will successfully explain how
different global forces shaped the settlement and growth of Brazil. Factors that are still apart of Brazil
today due to European colonization is the huge population of indigenous people living in the jungles
of Brazil and the extremely intermingled population. Without the European explorers sailing to Brazil
the population might of never, or at least to the intensity of it today, be intermixed. The indigenous
people may still life on the outskirts of Brazil, instead of never being forced inward into the jungle.
The Brazilian Indians did not have a written language; therefore, the histories did not begin until the
Europeans arrived. Several Indian tribes lived within Brazil that can be divided into four different
language groups once the Europeans arrived. The first language group was the Tupi Guarani who was
located on the Atlantic coast; the second was the Ge that was primarily located on the open central
plateau; the third and forth was the Caribs and the Arawaks who was located in the Amazon Basin .

A Survey On Product Development Surveys
5. Surveys :
Whenever we want to launch a new product to the market, it is very important to do market research
with product development surveys. This kind of surveys help to know whether such a product will
really work, long before you ve invested in a product launch.
The survey is usually divided into two parts :
Survey introduction: Creating the correct introduction is the most important part of developing a
survey. Majority of potential respondents will decide whether or not to drop out of the survey based
solely on the introduction. The introduction will set the tone for the rest of the survey. Without
providing the correct information your respondents may feel uncomfortable or suspicious of the
research study. So when you create your introduction, look at your survey from the perspective of the
respondent. Remember, each respondent has to decide whether they are going to provide you with
their personal information. The best advice is to try to predict if there are any concerns a respondent
may have, and address them immediately in the survey. Always add the topic and purpose of the
survey, expected time to complete it, a confidentiality statement, reward information if there is any
and finally a thank you note.
Survey questions: Good survey questions lead us to getting reliable responses that will help to achieve
our product goals. The key points to remember while creating survey question are, always give
respondents an option of I don t know as many

Developing A Financial Plan Development Model
Financial Plan Development
Time Out is the title of this student s proposed program for the course project. Time Out will provide
prevention and solution based services to the targeted population, African American high school
student athletes, located in Hampton, Virginia (Baskerville, C., 2015). This paper will provide readers
with a two year financial plan for the proposed program using step VII: Develop the Financial
Management Plan, of Calley s Comprehensive Program Development model as a guide (2011).
Developing a financial plan requires an understanding of the program s projected expenditures and
revenues, which leads to program sustainability through financial management (2011). The plan will
include projected expenditures such as staff salaries, benefits, liability insurance, office space,
supplies, and equipment, and transportations. Then the paper will present the organization s projected
funding sources, monitoring and reporting processes, and ethical considerations.
Two Year Projected Expenditures
Using information from the program design the student was able to project expenditures to implement
the proposed program (Calley, 2011). The projected expenditures are staffing, administration,
insurance (health and liability), and operating expenses such as office rental, supplies, and utilities. Of
all the projected expenditures, staffing will account for the largest expense for the program need
(2011). To project staffing expenses for the proposed program

Problems of a Self- Conscious Writer
Being a writer does not seem as hard as it sounds, but in reality, it is how you write that makes it hard.
A self conscious writing style takes more will power than other styles of writing, (In my opinion.)
There are many problems with being a self conscious writer and here are just a few problems a person
can have.
The first problem is that all the voices in your head are nonsense. They do not care for anything else
except to mess with your writing. This is especially hard for me because I will let the voices take over
and write the whole paper for me. In the past, I would not even look at my paper until the voices were
finished putting their opinion in. I stopped the voices from taking by over thinking. I would constantly
change the subject in my mind even though I would be writing; the voices would be so confused by
me switching topics that they would not even notice my writing. However, there were sometimes
when the voices would come through the megaphone and yell the same topic continuously, which
leads me to the next problem.
The second problem is repeating the same sentence. While there are many ways to form a sentence, a
self conscious writer will write it two different ways and think that it means something different. For
example, I like green peppers or green peppers are a vegetable that I like. They both mean the same
thing but they are worded differently. Repeating does not always happen with every sentence, but it
happens enough times in writing that it

Poverty In Ohio Region Analysis
I. Introduction Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing
and shelter ( What is Poverty, 2016). In the United States, there are 45 million Americans are living in
poverty ( 45 Million Americans, 2014). In order to determine if one is living in poverty, the United
States Census Bureau has established a poverty line that they then measure, according to the
individual s income and their family size ( Poverty Thresholds, 2016; Poorest Cities in America,
2016). Since the recession in 2008, many states have seen a rise of families living in poverty. Poverty
is a vicious cycle and has devastating effects on young children.

Book Thief Summer Reading
The Book Thief Summer Reading Essay Over the summer of 2014 I read The Book Thief, a novel by
Markus Zusak. Prior to reading this book I honestly thought it was just going to be another
stereotypical WWII story that just revolves around a hidden Jew and the bland home life of a nervous
German family. I was proven wrong by the time I read the first chapter. The Book Thief turned out to
be so much more than I imagined it would be. The characters weren t the typical stock characters I had

friendship. (Zusak 48) My friendship with my neighbor also had a snowball to the face start. Shortly
after moving into his neighborhood, I was walking my dog Chloe but got distracted and dropped the
leash, and Chloe took off after a squirrel in Georgie s yard. I was too busy trying to chase her down to
watch where I was going and ended up running smack into Georgie who was getting the newspaper
from the end of his driveway. We began talking and everything went from there. Both boys also did
their share of eccentric acts, like Rudy s Jesse Owens incident where he covered himself in charcoal
and ran around the town s track, pretending to be the famous olympic sprinter, Jesse Owens. Coming
home one day and finding Georgie and my little sister dressed as wizards pushing each other up and
down the street in a wheelbarrow certainly competes with the peculiar acts of Rudy Steiner.

The registration categories in psychology, which are recognised by the Professional Board of Psychology (HPCSA), are research psychology, industrial psychology, educational psychology and counselling and clinical psychology (Unisa, 2012). How can forensic psychology be defined? It is psychology as a specialist field of knowledge applied to the legal field. It is applied in order to inform legal specialists and the legal courts to make informed decision about matters of human behaviour. The psychologist as a specialist and expert is sometimes at odds with the exact nature and specific legalistic procedures of the courts as human behaviour is hardly an exact science and often requires the specialist skills of observation and assessment and interpretation of a human sciences specialist. Hamid s use of US immigration affects the plot of the story as it connects to the theme of identity, through the use of ashamed tone as well as precise diction. First of all, the use of ashamed tone demonstrates how US immigration is associated with the theme of identity. For example, as Changez rides in a limousine with his colleagues, he spots a Filipino driver: There was an undisguised hostility in his expression; I had no idea why ... But his dislike was so obvious, so intimate, that it got under my skin. I stared back at him, getting angry at myself. (67). The words hostility and dislike emphasize the negative perception ... Even though Changez is a US immigrant, it is suggested that he still acted in a Pakistani behavior, as he states how he had never specifically acted in the stereotypical American way. Additionally, the fact that Changez attempts to act like an American demonstrates how his identity isn t just American, but also Pakistani as well. This defines the theme of identity, as Changez feels troubled and confused about where he really is from, and where his loyalties lie. Furthermore, Changez states how at Manila, he learned to answer, when asked where [he] was from, that [he] was from New York. (65). Changez stating how he was specifically from New York shows how he identifies the place as home, similar to his real home in Pakistan. It is shown through previous chapters that New York contains many parts of Pakistani culture, explaining why Changez relates to New York in such a cheerful and excited tone. Even so, while many relate the US and New York as identical, Changez separates the two places, stating how America represents the egotistical, condescending behavior that it expresses on others. • 9. Analysis Of Love In The Time Of Cholera Love in the Time of Cholera is a skilfully crafted novel in which Gabriel Garcia Marquez takes the reader on the labyrinthine love journey of the two characters, Fermina Daza and Florentino Ariza. The novel, which is told by a non judgemental omniscient narrator, reveals love in a multi faceted manner that may seem conventional on the surface, yet, the portrayal of love has been adeptly designed to incorporate the novel s historical context. The story takes place between the late nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, in a Caribbean seaport city in Colombia. The context of both time and place intertwines social traditions, economic hierarchies and political ideologies that collectively play a role in the characters development. The development of Fermina and Florentino s characters reveals differentiated worldviews on gender issues; these perceptions are displayed through their exhibition of love to each other and minor characters. In Love in the Time of Cholera, Marquez blatantly tells the novel in a non prejudicial way which focuses on the revolutionising dominant patriarchal ideologies and attitudes. Hence, a feminist lens will be used to explore the explicit and implicit characterisation of Fermina and Florentino. Marquez explicitly describes Florentino Ariza through his unattractive appearance and social class, highlighting that despite the Florentino s aesthetics and legacy, his love for the socially superior Fermina is eternally irreducible. In 1976 1977 there was an absolute near extinction of these finches. This is because of the drought of 1976 and 1977 (see figure 1). While the drought made the Finch population dwindle there was a hidden trait that was helping some survive, and that is beak size. Why did the larger beaks help those fortunate Finches survive? Because the only plants that survived where plants like the Tribulus, which produces hard shelled seeds. While there was an abundance of hard shelled seeds there was a shortage of soft shelled seeds. The finches that had the larger beaks weighed more, for example, survivors weighed approx. 12.5g to 17.5g with beak sizes going from 10.5 to 13.6(for evidence see figure 2. In 1970, Sister Callista Roy identified the need for conceptual frameworks to be developed in order to have a foundation from which to build nursing knowledge. She developed the Model of Adaptation based on her theory that all patients must adapt to his/her given situations; we as nurses must guide and encourage positive adaptation for our patients (Roy, 1970). Roy s grand theory addressed all four of Fawcett s concepts identified in her meta paradigm of nursing, adding an additional concept, adaptation. Roy referred to the concept of person as man, identifying man as a biopsychosocial being who received a nurse s services. Roy identified the environment as any and all focal, contextual, and residual stimuli (1970). She addressed the concept of health as an aspect of a man s life, lying somewhere along the health sickness continuum (Roy, 1971). In regards to the concept of nursing, Roy identified nursing as a duty that helps and encourages man s response to environmental stimuli (1970). The additional concept, adaptation, was identified by Roy as man s encounter and reply to any given stimuli. This reply can be positive or negative (Roy, 1970). • 22. Analysis Of The Book Outremer By Nabil Saleh The thirteenth century showed a lot of tension between religious and political groups and leaders. The church in those days had more power and control over the state. One religious tension in particular was the hatred between Cathars and Catholics. While they both came from the Christian religion, the Cathars had different beliefs and a different leading system than the Catholics, and the Catholics saw the Cathars as heretics. The Cathars were overrunning the French land of Languedoc, and so a series of wars started between the French Catholics and the Languedoc Cathars. In the book, Outremer, by Nabil Saleh, we are introduced to many characters, religions, and relationships. It gives us a look at how the different religions, political leaders, and families connected with or lived beside one another. In my opinion, Outremer shows more religious tension than political tension during the thirteenth century, but still it does not show the reality and full effect of the tension. From the beginning of the book, we are shown the tension between Christians and Cathars when Aimeric s father sends him on a mission to travel to Tyre and kill King Philip of Montfort. There is hatred between the two religions from events that happened years ago, and the Cathars still want revenge on the Christians. Although the main character, Aimeric, accepts his father s mission, he ends up meeting people from different religions and getting along with them as if they were of his own family. ... • 30. Compromises Of 1850 The 1850s were a time of attempted compromise when compromise was no longer possible. The Union was becoming divided through many events in the time leading into the Civil War. The North and South had too many hostilities to account for. Socially, the North and the South could not stand what the other would do or say with anything. Politically, the government was completely divided and undecided. And economically, the South began to prosper as the North began to struggle. Thus, during the 1850s, socially, politically, and economically there was not any compromise that could fix the problems beginning to occur. In the 1850s, the North and South could not agree on anything and were in constant disagreements. In 1850, Henry Clay created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This made the south feel that slavery was okay since they took care of their slaves providing them food, clothing, and shelter. This would make the slavery issue more undecided since it seemed humanely correct. It would create a more difficult way to compromise since they all knew it was wrong, but there were also rights of it. The literature made the compromise almost impossible to be agreed upon since the reasons were so indecisive towards if slavery was correct or wrong. Another issue also created stir in the country and that was Harper s Ferry. Harper s Ferry was when John Brown captured an idea of arming and freeing slaves. He thought slaves would help, but he was wrong. He fought with the army, captured, tried, and hung. The North condemned the violence but the South did not believe them and saw Brown s raids as final proof the North s true intentions, to use slave revolts to destroy the south. This showed that there would not be any more compromise to go over since the South felt they knew exactly what was happening and wouldn t take anything for an answer. The countries people were fighting and there was nothing to do. On the other hand, politicians were in an uproar on what should be done and could not come to a solution for anything. • 33. China s Trade Imbalance With A Firm Level Data Set... Measuring the magnitude of exchange rate pass through for Chinese exports is all the more relevant because China s trade imbalance with richer trading partners, notably the United States, is often perceived as exacerbated by exchange rate manipulations. Many indeed argue that an appreciation of the renminbi would help rebalance China s trade. While the RMB was pegged to the U.S. dollar until July 2005, Tang and Zhang (2014) noted that there were significant fluctuations in real terms from an appreciation of 9% from 2000 to 2001 to a depreciation of 17% from early 2005. The extent of its trade s response to a change in the exchange rate however depends on the magnitude of the ERPT and on the price elasticity of Chinese exports and imports. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also find that the reaction of the Chinese exporting firms depends on their productivity levels: high productivity firms tend to adjust their export prices, while low productivity firms tend to adjust their export volumes. Héricourt and Poncet (2015) also find that exchange rate volatility reduces a firm s decision to export and the value of these exports, but that these negative impacts can be mitigated with the existence to well developed financial markets. Our paper contributes to the literature on ERPT for Chinese exports by testing for heterogeneity in Chinese firms responses to changes in exchange rate. The main data source is a database collected by the Chinese Customs. It contains Chinese firm level export flows by year, product, custom regime, firm type, and destination country, over the years 2000 2006. One distinctive characteristic of China s trade lies in the importance of processing trade in total exports. From 2000 to 2006 the share of processing trade in total export exceeded 50%. Using micro level data allows us to circumvent some empirical issues one would face when estimating the ERPT with aggregate price data . First, we can treat changes in the exchange rate as exogenous (Feinberg, 1996). Second, using aggregate price indices to measure ERPT might lead to some bias in the estimation, as prices of many goods do not change during these goods lifetime. Kim et al. (2013) indeed ... Describe the parts of the piece (and how many, etc.) Provide brief descriptions of the work that each part is doing and how it goes about doing it. Deep Play: Notes on the Balinese Cockfight is divided into eight or nine sections, each with their own distinct style and message. The first section is titled The Raid and is told in the style of a narrative. In it, Geertz reflects on his time in Bali with his wife in April of 1958. He reflects on the way the Balinese people treated him; during his first week or so in Bali, Geertz and his wife were treated as though they didn t exist. After witnessing a cockfight and running away just like the Balinese people who also attended, however, Geertz and his wife were treated as though they were Balinese themselves, and were completely accepted into Balinese society. In the second section, Of Cocks and Men , Geertz reflects on different aspects of Balinese culture and how Balinese men, despite cockfighting being illegal, strongly identify with it and even use the term to refer to different types of men and their personalities. Additionally, Geertz points out that besides cockfighting, the Balinese are strongly against doing anything that resembles an animal, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Family Structures And Family Structure Essay 1. In her book The Unfinished Revolution, Kathleen Gerson argues that today, family pathways are more important than family structure. In this context, family structure refers to the organization of a family, and the way that it has been changing as a result of the gender revolution. For example, some nontraditional family structures that are explored in the book include double parent families with both parents earning, single parent families (mostly single mothers), and families with same sex parents. Gerson argues that while family structures are not negligible, it is family pathways that are more important for the children of the gender revolution. That is to say, the children value the dynamics of their family more than the structure. They are more concerned about how well their parents are able to provide them with the necessary emotional and financial support than they are about how well their families follow a norm. For them, it is more about feeling like they re part of a family rather than just physically being in one. Gerson emphasizes this when she explains that the people she interviewed focused on the long term consequences of parental choices, not on the specific form or type of home these choices produced at any one moment in time. One important implication of this argument is the way in which the children of the gender revolution imagine their own romantic relationships unfolding. Even there, they prioritize a feeling rather than a format. For example, one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beginning with the first inhabitants of Brazil in order to fully understand how it all began, then moving on to when the Portuguese arrived in 1500, and finally understanding how Brazil gained its independence will successfully explain how different global forces shaped the settlement and growth of Brazil. Factors that are still apart of Brazil today due to European colonization is the huge population of indigenous people living in the jungles of Brazil and the extremely intermingled population. Without the European explorers sailing to Brazil the population might of never, or at least to the intensity of it today, be intermixed. The indigenous people may still life on the outskirts of Brazil, instead of never being forced inward into the jungle. The Brazilian Indians did not have a written language; therefore, the histories did not begin until the Europeans arrived. Several Indian tribes lived within Brazil that can be divided into four different language groups once the Europeans arrived. The first language group was the Tupi Guarani who was located on the Atlantic coast; the second was the Ge that was primarily located on the open central plateau; the third and forth was the Caribs and the Arawaks who was located in the Amazon Basin . This kind of surveys help to know whether such a product will really work, long before you ve invested in a product launch. The survey is usually divided into two parts : Survey introduction: Creating the correct introduction is the most important part of developing a survey. Majority of potential respondents will decide whether or not to drop out of the survey based solely on the introduction. The introduction will set the tone for the rest of the survey. Without providing the correct information your respondents may feel uncomfortable or suspicious of the research study. So when you create your introduction, look at your survey from the perspective of the respondent. Remember, each respondent has to decide whether they are going to provide you with their personal information. The best advice is to try to predict if there are any concerns a respondent may have, and address them immediately in the survey. Always add the topic and purpose of the survey, expected time to complete it, a confidentiality statement, reward information if there is any and finally a thank you note. • 42. Problems of a Self- Conscious Writer Being a writer does not seem as hard as it sounds, but in reality, it is how you write that makes it hard. A self conscious writing style takes more will power than other styles of writing, (In my opinion.) There are many problems with being a self conscious writer and here are just a few problems a person can have. The first problem is that all the voices in your head are nonsense. They do not care for anything else except to mess with your writing. This is especially hard for me because I will let the voices take over and write the whole paper for me. In the past, I would not even look at my paper until the voices were finished putting their opinion in. I stopped the voices from taking by over thinking. I would constantly change the subject in my mind even though I would be writing; the voices would be so confused by me switching topics that they would not even notice my writing. However, there were sometimes when the voices would come through the megaphone and yell the same topic continuously, which leads me to the next problem. The second problem is repeating the same sentence. While there are many ways to form a sentence, a self conscious writer will write it two different ways and think that it means something different. For example, I like green peppers or green peppers are a vegetable that I like. They both mean the same thing but they are worded differently. Repeating does not always happen with every sentence, but it happens enough times in writing that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prior to reading this book I honestly thought it was just going to be another stereotypical WWII story that just revolves around a hidden Jew and the bland home life of a nervous German family. I was proven wrong by the time I read the first chapter. The Book Thief turned out to be so much more than I imagined it would be. The characters weren t the typical stock characters I had predicted.
