Essay on Jane Jacobs
The Uses of Sidewalks: Safety and Contact
Cities are generators of economic life and source of changes in the world. Thereby, Jane Jacobs in her
book The Death and Life of Great American Cities puts into relief the role of cities on the social and
economic levels, while denouncing the disastrous consequences of urban renewal programs. To that
extent, in chapters 2 and 3, she discusses The Uses of Sidewalks , arguing that over all people need
safety and trust in their city. Therefore, first she claims the necessity of keeping streets and sidewalks
safe because they are the vital organs of cities (29). Secondly, she argues that the functioning of cities
should be organized in order to foster human interaction in which casual public ... Show more content

In addition, she extends the idea of eyes upon the street showing that using and watching the street not
only guarantees the safety, but it makes the street more attractive. She argues: the sight of people
attracts still other people (37). Here, she points out the fact that people like watching other people and
activities around them. Nobody likes places where there is nothing to see or to do. Interesting streets
are attractive because we see different people, and different activities or businesses. In short, the more
a street is frequented, the more it is secure and interesting and vice versa. Safe streets and sidewalks
contribute to the economic expansion of the city and the social fulfillment of people. Then we can
conclude that safety is a one of primordial factor to the social and economic development of the city.
Approaching in the same direction of the importance of safety, Jacobs also discusses the theme of
confidence in the streets, which is trust. She mentions the concept of sidewalks casual public trust.
First, trust may evolve from human contact and interaction in public. Jacobs explains human
interaction in these words:
Cities are full of people with whom, from your viewpoint, or mine, or any other individual s, a certain
degree of contact is useful or enjoyable; but you do not want them in your hair. And they do not want
you in theirs either. (56) From interaction with fellows in public spaces people are inclined to trust

archetypes of edward scissor hands
Dania Perez
Emily Chahede
Archetypes of Edward Scissor Hands In the words of Carl Jung, a well known psychologist, an
archetype is An innate tendency which molds and transforms the individual consciousness. A fact
defined more through a drive than through specific inherited contents, images etc.; a matrix which
influences the human behavior as well as his ideas and concepts on the ethical, moral religious and
cultural levels (Jung). This research paper provides different archetypes that are present in Edward
Scissorhands. The 1990 film of Edward Scissor Hands portrays an American romantic fantasy film
based on the blossoming of a young creation. The story takes place in a cookie cutter suburban society

best of him, and pushes him into a stage of destruction. Those in the community become frightened of
his unusual behavior, and decide to take action into their own hands by calling the local police. His
family, in particular Pegg, question if bringing Edward into society had been the best decision and go
out in search of the naïve lad. After regaining his composure, Edward heads back home and spends
significant time with Kim, where they finally express their feeling for one another. But just as things
start to get interesting, Edward glances out the window and is shocked at the sight of harm coming
towards Kevin (Peggs brother). Edward instinctively takes it upon himself to become Kevin s savior
and as Jim and some reckless friend lose control of the car they are in, Edward tackles Kevin to the
grass, ultimately saving him. In attempts to assure that he is okay Edward accidently scratches Kevin s
face due to his scissorhands. When Jim sees this he accuses Edward of purposefully hurting Kevin,
and takes action against him by viciously attacking him. Hearing the commotion the neighbors quickly

Motivations In International Tourism
In the international tourism industry, the tourist is the consumer. An individual must be traveling
outside of his or her home country for a period of time lasting less than one year (Socci, 2016). The
consumer group encompasses several different segments, as tourism is not limited to leisure. Rather,
there are several motivations for traveling abroad and partaking in international tourism. Motivations
for traveling internationally include leisure, business, family matters, and seeking of medical treatment
(2016). Recall that international tourism accounts for not only the act of traveling abroad, but also the
activities of consumers within the borders of a foreign nation. Consumers who travel for different
reasons consume differently. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If prices rise for international tourism, consumers will flock to domestic tourism. Overall,
international tourism is elastic because it is a normal good and there are several substitutions. Youth
tourism, however, is less elastic. Young people are less sensitive to increases in price because
economic downturns encourage them to seek alternative career paths, which offsets high prices
(2015).
Consumer behavior is defined as all decisional acts performed individually or at a group level...
containing decision processes that precede and influence these acts (Marin, 2013). There are two main
types of motivation, internal and external. Consumer behavior is more predictable based on external
factors, such as demographic characteristics. One can predict travel patterns based on age, gender,
socioeconomic status, and other characteristics because these factors are measurable. Internal, or
endogenous factors, also contribute to decision making and behavior, but are not outwardly apparent
or measurable. Marin demonstrates this through the example of farm tourism, which is travel based on
agriculture or the production of agricultural goods (2013). Certain consumers are attracted to farm
tourism because the country life is appealing (2013). Endogenous factors can be purely aesthetic, as in
this example, and entirely unrelated to demographic factors. As in any market, consumers are seeking
to maximize individual utility, and internal and

The Water Bottling Industries Put Out False Advertising
Interests/Issues
Techniques of Neutralization (Pg. 200, Chapter 8) Ways of thinking or rationalizing that helps people
deflect society norms.
This week s video called Tapped brings up the world wide issue of water and the waste that come with
it. Bottled water brings many concerns to the table, including health and environmental issues. One of
the main issues that I found interesting was how much the water bottling industries put out false
advertising. Did you ever look on a bottle of water and see beautiful mountains or a crystal clear
stream? Well, you guessed it... false advertising. The video explained to us that not only does most of
the bottled water that we drink come from a tap but it also is not tested the way that it is advertised.
The bottled water that everyone is drinking has most likely only been ran through a filter, no testing
for chemicals or bacteria has been done. We are led to believe that this water is more safe and/or better
for us due to the very convincing messages written on the bottles. When in reality the water that
comes from your kitchen sink is much better for you, unless otherwise noted. Aquafina water has one
of the biggest false advertisement labels. The bottles label consists of a clean blue label showing
images of snow capped mountains and the claim, Pure water, perfect taste. This leads to the incorrect
conclusion that Aquafina is sourced from mountain spring water. When is reality, Aquafina come from
a tap. In 2007 PepsiCo (the brand

Sexism in Our Society Essay
Sexism in Our Society
Sexism has always been a major issue for women. It seems that today, everyone has to be careful of
what they say and do so as to avoid offending someone. While everyone is busy worrying about
extinguishing sexism towards women which still is an issue that needs to be taken care of, who is
concerned with sexism towards men? Sexism is just as much of an issue to men as it is to women.
Many people believe that men have advantages over women when comes to a topic such as
occupation. Although this may be true, in some cases it is in fact exactly the opposite. Today?s society
is so concerned with political correctness and equal rights to women that it has almost completely
forgotten about equal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elizabeth Cady Stanton is a fine example of sexism toward men. While defending women?s rights and
making a stand against sexism toward women in her piece Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions,
Stanton demonstrates (many times) examples of sexism toward men: ?The history of mankind is a
history of repeated injuries?on the part of man toward woman, having in direct object the
establishment of an absolute tyranny over her? (165). By blaming men for every repression women
have suffered over the years, Stanton is completely contradicting her argument by being sexist toward
men.
In a more modern example, a 2004 study by Peter Glick and Robin Wells, both of the Department of
Psychology at Lawrence University, involving sixteen nations showed hostile attitudes toward men. ?
Stereotype measures indicated that men were viewed as having?more powerful traits than women. The
authors argue that hostile?attitudes toward men reflect and support gender inequality by characterizing
men as being designed for dominance.?
This leads to the subject of how men have been viewed throughout the course of history. In the past,
men have been seen as the protectors and providers of the household, just as women have been most
popularly viewed as

Pros and Cons of High Fructose Corn Syrup Essay
High Fructose Corn Syrup
Abstract:
High fructose corn syrup is a commonly used artificial sweetener in foods. High fructose corn syrup is
a hydrolyzed version of ordinary corn syrup, which is produced via a steeping process. It is so widely
used because it is both economically favorable and it helps to preserve food for extended periods of
time. However, the drawbacks of high fructose corn syrup include issues like potential obesity,
diabetes, loss of liver function, malnutrition, and cancer. The fact that the producers of high fructose
corn syrup can deceive people that HFCS is harmless makes matters worse.
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is an artificial sweetener commonly used in the United States. As its
name implies, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As corn will naturally ferment, it is bathed in water containing sulfur dioxide. The water is kept at an
elevated temperature at about 120 Fahrenheit for the 40 hour duration of the steeping process. George
Inglett indicates that during that time, the corn absorbs water, swelling to its maximum size, and
starches are loosened from the protein matrix (79). Soluble components in the corn are also removed
during steeping. The steepwater is often recovered, allowed to ferment, and used to make antibiotics in
its fermented form. The second major step is milling. After the steepwater is drained, the kernels are
sent to degerminating mills. Here, the kernels are torn apart and the oil containing germ is freed in
centrifuges. The oil containing germs are ground to separate the starch and gluten from the coarser
particles. These two elements are separated with centrifuges, and the extraction of water completes the
process of recovery. Finally, the starch and gluten are refined to make pure corn syrup. By extracting
different portions of the corn at different times, other products can be produced from basic corn like
corn oil, feeds, starches, antibiotics, and other sweeteners.
Producing corn syrup is the simple part of making high fructose corn syrup. It took the sugar industry
many years to figure out how to increase the fructose content and thus the sweetness of corn syrup.

Industry jobs account for 4.6% of total employment in 2006 and are forecast to increase to total
663,000 jobs for 5.1% of the total by 2016. Tourism can generate jobs directly through hotels,
restaurants, nightclubs, taxis and souvenir sales, and indirectly through the supply of Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) needed by tourism related businesses.
Contribution to government revenues
Government revenues from the tourism sector can be categorized as direct and indirect contributions.
Direct contributions are generated by taxes on incomes from tourism employment and tourism
businesses, and by direct levies on tourist such as departure taxes (UNEP Tourism, 2001). Indirect
contributions are those originated from taxes and duties levied on goods and services supplied to
tourists (UNEP Tourism, 2001).
According to the World Travel Tourism Council (2002), in Malaysia, the largest portion of this total is
from indirect taxes paid in connection with visitor purchases of goods and services. Next in size is of
corporate income taxes paid by Travel and Tourism businesses and suppliers. Personal taxes are paid
by Travel and Tourism generated employment, and other taxes include oil and stamp taxes. For
instance, when all totaled, the Travel Tourism Economy was responsible for 10.5% of total taxes paid

Improving Older Adults Memory Performance Using Prior...
The article that I will be reviewing for the third discussion day is titled, Improving Older Adults
Memory Performance Using Prior Task Success. This research was completed by Lisa Geraci and
Tyler M. Miller, two researchers from Texas A M University. In order to better understand their work,
it will be benefical to look at some of the background information on the topic. When it comes to
older adults, one of the aspects that can affect memory is stereotypes. In their work, the researchers
provided a thorough review of this phenomenon, which was labeled as stereotype threat effect. On a
whole, this is when knowledge of a stereotype influences behavior. For example, experimentally

For the task success condition, participants were given a package containing 30 sets of five scrambled
words. Next, they were instructed to arrange the word to rearrange the words to form a grammatically
correct four word sentence. Participants in this condition had an unlimited amount of time to complete
the task. In contrast, the task failure condition had 10 seconds to complete the task. This was half the
time that it took participants in the task success condition to arrange a sentence. Moreover, the control
group did not receive this task to complete. After this task, all participants completed a memory
experiment. For the experiment, the participants were given a list of 30 words. They had 2 minutes to
evaluate this list after which they had to write down as many words as they could remember. For the
results, the researchers found that there was a statistically significant difference between the groups.
Specifically, older adults in the task success group had better recall than the control and task failure
groups. Additionally, the older adults who experienced prior task failure did not have worse memory
recall than the control group. Although these results posed true for the older adults, they did not extend
to the younger adults. In regards to these results, the researchers theorized a couple potential reasons
why these relationships exist. First, they reasoned that

assumed story behind a person success. Then goes and re examines each story in such a detail matter,
that he pinpoints the unknown facts that led to that person success. Gladwell unmasked our so called

Egypt Culture Vs Greek Culture
Hello, adolescents today I m going to authenticated that the Greeks were distinguished to the
Egyptians. I will validate this by telling you how the Greeks had more of an understanding of the
universe by telling you about their noteworthy religion, their amount of comprehension, and how
much of their culture is still around now.
First, the Greeks had a better religion than the Egyptians because they had more clear cut gods than
the Egyptians eg. they had a god for each direction of the wind who were Boreas the north, zephyrus
the west, notos the south, and euros the east. Another thing is the Greeks had more of a diversity of
gods than the Egyptians because the Greeks had over 200 unique gods, goddesses, titans, titanesses,
spirits, and monsters but the Egyptians had only about 100 or less.

The Negative Impacts Of Collective Bargaining
Collective bargaining refers to a procedure through which employers negotiate with employee s
unions to a joint agreement or renew an expired deal. A collective bargaining process begins with a
written notification to bargain. Employers and unions must ensure good faith in the process. CBAs are
mutually beneficial and are advantageous to the society as a whole, only when conducted
transparently and collaboratively by guaranteeing an active participation of all stakeholders.
Collective bargaining agreements (CBA) provide state professionals with the right to team up with
their colleagues and conduct negotiations with their bosses regarding workplace concerns that
emotionally or physically impact them, providing the best environment for quality service delivery to
taxpayers. Similarly to contracts, chief executive officers have guaranteed employment conditions,
benefits, and payment, which are agreed upon in a collective bargaining agreement. Union
representations provide the legal, most common, and an easiest secured way to collectively bargain
(Aidt Tzannatos, 2002). This article outlines the importance of collective bargaining agreements to
public servants, and the taxpayers. The report seeks to analyze the hidden cost savings that collective
bargaining agreements come with, and the overall improvements they introduce to the quality of
livelihood for taxpayers. Moreover, this paper examined the negative impacts that collective

A Concept Analysis On Compassion Fatigue
I. Background and Significance
II. Meaning in Published Works
III. Purpose
The purpose of conducting a concept analysis is to divide the components of a concept into separate
individual parts for evaluation and clarification. Analysis of the internal structure, defining aspects,
characteristics and interrelationships to the other components can be achieved by conducting a concept
analysis. The basic purpose is a process to discover the similarities and differences between concepts
(Walker Avant, 2005). The intent of the concept analysis on the subject of compassion fatigue is to
evaluate compassion fatigue in nursing and to determine the current conceptual use in efforts to clarify
the relevance to nurses. The aim is to identify how the concept is currently utilized and how it could
potentially be utilized in the future.
IV. Definitions and Defining Attributes
A. Compassion fatigue in nursing is defined as the resultant distress and physical experiences that
occur when continuously caring for others, usually in highly stressful situations (Sheppard, 2015).
Burnout and secondary traumatic stress disorder are terms identified in the literature as having
affiliations with compassion fatigue. Burnout is a physical and mental exhaustion that occurs as a
gradual result of working in hostile and demanding environments or under stress. Secondary traumatic
stress disorder is a traumatic reaction that occurs due to witnessing the suffering of others (Hinderer et
al., 2014).

Corruption Of Prisoners In Plato s Arguments Of Democracy
In a dark cave there are prisoners, restricted to seeing what shadows puppeteers cast upon the stone
screen in front of them. This timeless story by Plato, used as a metaphor for those that are, to the
philosopher Plato, lowbrows, and have no desire to question what is around them and find the truth
and embrace ignorance. I have experienced this first hand, being an exemplification of what it means
to not question what I have faith in, or seek more. However, I have also experienced what it is to be
the prisoner that turns his head, as well as the prisoner that turns the other cheek.
When Plato was writing this dialogue, his goal was to show those in the metaphorical cave, how daft
and short sided he believes them to be. When Plato articulates the puppeteers through the voice of
Socrates, he says, ...and between the fire and the prisoners there is a raised ... Show more content on

Teenage Girls
As a matter of fact, teenage girls are not the only ones who fall victim to the ideal of beauty. Teenage
boys are going through very similar situations. Media and advertisements set their standards for men
to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v line and have beards etc. Neither males nor females live
without having standards set up for them by society and media. Widely held perceptions of beauty and
perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men. Some impact is that
these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and both genders will never feel
comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women would continue to judge themselves and
their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually have images of men without their shirts in order to
show off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members of society expect to see a six
pack,v line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives teenage boys fear to take off
their shirt when going to the beach or smaller situations like going inside a pool because they are
scared to be criticized for not being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both
men and women which creates intimidation. Study of mass media magazines discovered that women s
magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and articles promoting weight loss than men s
magazines did (as cited in Guillen Barr.1944). The ideal of beauty targets women more than men. In

Figurative Language In Devil In The White City
In the novel The Devil in the White City written by Erik Larson, he entails there is a constant war
between good and evil in Chicago 1893, each battle won is a life being made, or slaughtered There are
two wolves battling us all right now.... One s good, the other is evil. If you re wondering which wolf
inside will succeed, simple, it s the one that you feed... by Ronnie Radke. Larson paints the white city
s atmosphere as preppy, educated, society that consists of architects like Daniel Burnham, while the
black city portrays a bleak, poverty, society that consists of the serial killer H. H. Holmes. The reader
experiences a journey between heaven and hell throughout the entirety of the novel, a dream like
euphoria in the white city, and the nightmare like misery for the black. The difference between the two
contradicting cities is so great that Larson switches the perspective of the serial killer, H. H. Holmes,
and the genius architect, Daniel Burnham, throughout the book; painting this image to portray these
differences in the white and black cities by using juxtaposition, figurative language, and imagery. H.
H. Holmes travels into the white city, leaving the bleak city frozen in place, Larson uses figurative
language to reveal how Holmes starts to convert the white city into a kingdom of his own by seeing
beauty and grace in some of the most disturbing scenarios. The comparison of Julia s (Holmes
mistress) murder to a ballet explains that Holmes sees death as a type of

Biography of Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston is considered as one of the greatest singers of our generation. According to the
Guinness Book of World Records, she holds the record of being the most rewarded female artist of all
time. I chose her as my topic, because she represents resiliency and tenacity, despite her troubled
experiences with drugs and her personal life. Whitney Houston comes from a family with an amazing,
musical pedigree; her mother, Cissy Houston, was a successful back up singer for Aretha Franklin and

If an individual wants to be in the entertainment industry, one must know who they are and to develop
a tough exterior, in order to overcome adversity and negativity. It is evident that Whitney was a people
pleaser and if she did not please everybody, then it would take a toll on her and as a result, provided
her with a lot of distress and pain. For this reason, possibly drew her into a realm of drugs and chaos.
Psychosocial development was created by Erik Erikson, in which, mentions that personality is
developed in a series of stages, throughout an individual s lifespan. In particular, the Identity versus
Role Confusion was a very profound stage to discuss, in regards to Whitney Houston s life. Even
though, she sold millions of records and won many awards, Whitney still felt empty in her personal
life. In turn, she turned to drugs, as a means of support and to ease the pain of her emptiness. She
mentioned in an interview with Oprah: I spent my life making records and touring the world in my 20
s and 30 s...I totally forgot about singing, I was focused on finding my young womanhood. (Winfrey,
interview, 2009). In the beginning of her career, Whitney was too busy promoting herself and getting
her out there to music executives, in order to start her career. Clive chose all of the songs for her to
sing and her mother picked the clothes that she would wear on stage. This poses a problem, because

A Literary Analysis Of Goin Fishin
Love can come from many different people. It is not always given by a family member. Love is not
always given by a romantic interest, either. Sometimes love can be given by friends, especially in a
time of need. This can be seen in Chris Crutcher s short story Goin Fishin . Goin Fishin is a short story
about a boy named Lionel Serbousek, whose family is killed by his previous best friend, Neal
Anderson. The story follows him through his grief. Throughout the story, Lionel s friends are there to
guide him through his grief and guard him from the outside world. Lionel s friends love him like
family. After his family dies, Lionel s friends gather to help him. They are good people and are
constantly there for him. Each and every one of them are there for him from the start. One of Lionel s
friends, Elaine Ferral, explains this when she tries to get him to think and see sensibly. When your
family got killed, your friends gathered around you like angels (126). She explains how they all gather
to help Lionel. Each of them has their own way of helping him through his grief, such as being there
for him or by visiting him when he gets lonely. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pushed hard beside me, as if they could absorb some of my pain [...] (116). Lionel s friends always try
to be with him, even when Lionel is angry. They help him control his feelings simply by being there
for him, for moral support. None of them can take away the pain completely, but Lionel s friends can
be there to help dull it. Even if they can t rid Lionel of his rage and sadness completely, his friends can

Outlaw Heroes in Literature
Outlaw Heroes in Literature In The Thematic Paradigm , Robert Ray explains how there are two
distinctly different heroes, the outlaw hero and the official hero. The official hero embraces common
values and traditional beliefs, while the outlaw has a clear sense of right and wrong but operates above
the law (Ray). Ray explains how the role of an outlaw hero has many traits. The attractiveness of the
outlaw hero s childishness and propensity to whims, tantrums, and emotional decisions derived from
America s cult of childhood , states Ray. (309) Ray also says, To the outlaw hero s ... Show more

Immediately after Rick has received the film s first star close up, Casablanca yields its first shot from
the point of view of a single individual at nine minutes into the film when Rick observes the German s
attempt to enter. For most of the remainder of the film, Rick s point of view is privileged, and his face
and body are centered. This is especially true when he is in the company of Victor Laszlo, who is
regularly consigned to the margins of the frame throughout the sequence when Rick first encounters
Ilsa and her husband in the cafe. All of this seems natural because the film has so carefully constructed
the viewer as a secret sharer in Rick s vision. The innumerable choices that are made in the production
of each shot in Casablanca are concealed by our acceptance of Rick as our surrogate. Although few
would find reason to object, the film chooses to deprive Laszlo of a flashback, not to mention an As
Time Goes By to unite him with Ilsa.
Ray points out that this concealing of the necessity for choice also governs the thematic paradigm in
Casablanca. The film invites the audience to identify with Rick rather than Laszlo even though official
American wartime sentiments are consistently voiced by Laszlo. Rick regularly insists upon
unmediated self interest, I stick my neck out for nobody , I m the only cause I m interested in , a
position that Ferrari explicitly identifies with a discredited American tradition: My dear Rick, when
will you realize

Casey At The Bat Essay
In the poem Casey at the bat and the story of David and Goliath a comparison shows that there are
many differences in the story and the poem and many similarities. The first similarity between Casey
and David is that they both had faith that they would win. David had faith that he would win because
David stated I ll knock you down and cut off your head, this quote shows that David had all faith that
he would beat Goliath. Also in the poem Casey at the bat Casey had faith that he would win. This is
correct because the author stated, Defiance gleamed in Casey s eye, a sneer curled Casey s lip. This

Casey was the person that everyone thought would win. A quote that explains the difference in the
passage is the author stated, Do you think I m a dog? Goliath asked. This quote explains that David is

Negative Long term Effects of Advertising
Advertisements are a way to promote sales of a product or service through visual communication.
Magazine covers, advertisements or any publication embed a set of ideologies. O Shaughnessy and
Standler describe ideologies as sets of social values, ideas, beliefs, feelings and representations by
which people collectively make sense of the world they live in (2012; 174). Ideologies try to
manipulate people into buying a way of life as well as goods (Dyer, 1982:5). Adverts such as the
Pravda vodka example above, which appeared in the January 2014 issue of GLAMOUR magazine add
relevance to a product whether it s a certain trend, desire or mutual value in order for the product to
become a highly favoured commodity. Glamour magazine is popular amoungst young women of all
races who are middle class citizens. This specific advert was used to introduce Pravda s new vodka
range aimed at women. It communicates ideologies of feminism, class, leisure, night life and
enjoyment. The purpose of this essay is to use semiology to analyse the attached article. The
Advertiser, should do more than just label or identify the product; it should also bring flattering
associations to mind, associations which will help to sell it. (Dyer, 1982:141) and that is where
semiology comes into play.
Semiology is the study of signs and sign systems (O Shaughnessy Standler, 2012). The history of
semiology is further explained and the main cause of intercession: Semiology originated at the end of

Child Labor In Latin America
Today I want to describe to you one of the biggest obstacles to human rights today. I am sure that most
of you don t know that over 100 million children around the world work in hazardous conditions.
Children in Africa, Asia, and Latin America work in extreme heat and are exposed to toxic pesticides
that risk their health conditions. Statistics from the International Labor Organization show that there
are about 73 million children between ages 10 and 14, and 218 million children between the ages of 5
and 17, working worldwide . I am here today to convince you that the worst forms of child labor,
including child trafficking, commercial and sexual exploitation, child domestic work, and hazardous
child labor are still a concern today, and poverty, the lack of social protection, and the lack of decent
work for adults are some of the reasons why child labor hasn t been eradicated yet.
Let s consider that at least 12 percent of the global gold supply comes from gold mines that rely on
unskilled labor force of young children. Working for long hours can be harmful to both the kid s
schooling and future earning potential. According to researches made across 11 countries in Latin
America, working children use to perform lower in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Indonesia has the largest quantity of tobacco produced with child labor, and tobacco companies do not
take the responsibility to protect them from any physical injury. Because working in direct contact
with tobacco has severe health risks, children under 18 should be prohibited from performing these

The Students Bill Of Rights
The school where the author is doing her practicum has written a School Bill of Rights to give guide
to the students, staff and parents as to what is appropriate behavior. The author supports this bill of
rights because it provides a healthy environment for learning for the students. The author of this essay
highly respects students bill of rights in the school. The students do not lose their constitutional rights
when they come to school. Thus, they have First Amendment rights to express themselves. The
democratic leader embraces this freedom of expression. However, students do not have the full range
of the constitutional rights. The principal of a school has the power to make rules for the student to
follow at school. For example, a student cannot cuss a teacher in class or the hall. However, if it
happened off campus, the principal would not have the authority to punish the student. The author as a
democratic leader would use the situation to explain to the student why it should not be done and carry
out any repercussions that the rules require. After all, it is the role of the principal to educate the
students in a safe environment. Any safe environment has rules that need to be followed. However, the
principal of the school must respect the Bill of Rights and the First Amendment. Occasionally, a
situation may occur when it is hard for the principal to do his/her job without walking on students free
expression rights. Justly, the importance of the Bill

prescription drug abuse
Prescription Drug Abuse
Millions of people throughout the world are taking drugs on a daily basis. If you were to ask someone
why they take prescription drugs, most people would be taking them for the right reason. However, it s
estimated that twenty percent of people in the United States alone have used prescription drugs for
non medical reasons.1 Prescription drug abuse is a serious and growing problem that often goes
unnoticed. Abusing these drugs can often lead to addiction and even death. You can develop an
addiction to certain drugs that may include: narcotic painkillers, sedatives, tranquilizers, and
stimulants.1 Prescription drugs are the most common abused category of drugs, right next to

For instance, some people mix alcohol and Valium, both of which can slow breathing. The
combination of the two could stop breathing altogether.4 Cough and cold medications are some of the
most commonly abused over the counter medications. They contain an ingredient called
dextromethorphan. However, to get to the high craved by people who use drugs, large quantities are
needed. At high doses, dextromethorphan causes side effects similar to those of the drugs Ketamine,
or PCP, by affecting similar sites to the brain. Ketamine and PCP are considered dissociative drugs,
which make people feel disconnected from their normal selves. When taken as directed, over the
counter drugs are safe and effective, but high doses can cause problems. It s always important to read
the bottle labels and take over the counter medications only as directed.4
Not all prescription drugs have the potential for abuse and addiction. Many drugs don t even act in the
brain. For example, antibiotics are not addictive. On the rare occasion people who take drugs for
medical conditions may become addicted. This is why it is extremely important to be under a doctor s
care while taking prescription medication.4 Most prescription drugs are taken in a form that gets to the
brain slowly at a dose that treats a problem, but doesn t overwhelm the system. Both of which reduce
the likelihood of an addiction. Long term medical use of prescription drugs can

but Miles and his family stuck with one another and were able to survive this way. This is first present
in the text when it states, Sarah herself grabbed my shirt or I might have fallen overboard. (Will
Weaver 35) This proves that teamwork can help you to survive because Sarah helped Miles when he
needed it, to stay a live. If she did not help him with teamwork then he most likely would have died.
The author does this through revealing actions because he wants to show us that teamwork isn t a

teamwork is present in the text is when it says, He s getting a lesson in how to use his new gun, Danny

Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia
My research topic is about Leukemia. My goal is to inform about what leukemia is, the causes, the
risk factors, the history of the disease, how it is treated, and how it could be treated in the future to
increase curability and reduce mortality. My focus is going to be on a specific form of leukemia,
called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, or AML3. It is called AML3 because it is the M3 subtype of a
form of leukemia called Acute Myelocytic Leukemia.
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It forms when there is a mutation in the stem
cells that form into various blood cells. This mutation causes the cells to replicate uncontrollably, and
are put into the bloodstream while still immature. Since the blood is full of these immature cells, ...

Although many of the drugs used now are the same when AML3 was first discovered, we have found
better ways of implementing them, and newer drugs to use either to supplement or replace altogether.
One such drug is all trans retinoic acid. all trans retinoic acid, or ATRA, is a drug that induces
differentiation of leukemic promyelocytes into mature granulocytes. . . (Coombs et al.) . On its own,
ATRA produced complete remission rates of up to 72%, but unfortunately the patients suffered from
frequent relapses. Another newer drug implemented in clinical settings was Arsenic Trioxide, or ATO.
ATO was first utilised in APL patients in the early 1990s, and led to a high CR rate with relatively
long term remissions when used as a single agent. In preclinical models, the combination of ATRA
and ATO demonstrated synergism in inducing differentiation and apoptosis, allowing for targeted
therapy of APL without chemotherapy. (Coombs et al.). Basically, on their own, both drugs work
fairly well, but together they work with each other to kill the leukemic cells. However, this was only
in models. They still needed to prove themselves in a clinical environment over a wide range of
patients. A group of South Asian cancer centers took the

Edward Jenner and the Cowpox Vaccine
Most parents trust their pediatrician or family doctor more than anyone when it comes to the health of
their child. However, many parents are beginning to question their doctor s advice when it comes to
vaccinating their children. After countless accusations of harmful effects of childhood vaccinations,
some parents have decided to stop having their child vaccinated, putting not only their child, but the
entire human population in danger.
In 1796, Edward Jenner created a vaccine developed from the cowpox virus. He then gave this
vaccine to a 13 year old boy who was suffering from smallpox. The boy became immune to the
smallpox disease and Jenner was named the founding father of vaccinations. After his discovery,
vaccines were later created for Cholera, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Polio ( A Brief History ).
Vaccines were developed in order to trick the body into making antibodies ( Understanding ). Using
germs that are similar, but not harmful, to the disease a vaccine is trying to prevent, vaccines are able
to mimic body responses by creating memory in the T and B helper cells that can help the body fight
diseases before one develops symptoms of the illness ( Vaccines and Your Health ). The government
supports and enforces vaccine use because it can take weeks for the body to naturally create enough
antibodies to fight diseases, and therefore, it is dangerous to rely only on natural immunity (
Understanding ).
The controversy regarding vaccinations originated after

The Role of Corporate Reputation
As it pertains to organizational performance and social responsibility, a company s corporate
reputation plays a large role. The biggest example is that of a company s reputation amongst its
potential customers. A company s main performance goal is to earn a high level of profit, typically
through a high level of revenue. However, if that company has a poor reputation amongst those
potential customers, the company will not be earning their money. On the other hand, a business with
a highly though of reputation can also attract more customers than they otherwise would have,
therefore earning more revenue.
For social responsibility, the biggest impact a company s corporate reputation is found in that
company s ability to influence other companies to follow in social responsibility initiatives. If a

The Human Body Is Complex, And All Humans
Paul Ojugo
The human body is complex, and all humans are similar to one another in many ways. As humans we
share a lot of characteristics in common with one another, such as having hands, feet, eyes, nose,
gender, ethnic backgrounds and etc. There has to be some characteristic or organ we have that
differentiate all of us, and all these features we have in common, and that is our brain. The brain is one
of the largest and most complex organs in the human body. It is made up more than 100 billion nerves
that communicate in trillions of connections called synapses. Synapse is a junction between two nerve

nervous system, including the cerebrum, basal ganglia, diencephalon, limbic system, brainstem, and

1997).The largest portion of the brain is the cerebrum. This section contains tools which are
responsible for most of the brain function, and it is divided into four subsections. The temporal lobe,
the occipital lobe, parietal lobe, and frontal lobe. The cerebrum is divided into a right and left
hemisphere which are connected by axons that relay messages from one to the other. This matter is
made of nerve cells which carry signals between the organ and the nerve cells which run through the
body. The parietal lobe is one of the four lobes located in the cerebral hemisphere, this lobe focuses on
comprehension, visual functions, language, reading, and internal stimuli. Tactile sensation and sensory
comprehension are the main trait focused in this lobe. The parietal lobe is separated into two different
cortex s named sensory cortex, and motor cortex, The sensory cortex which is located in the front

  • 3. Essay on Jane Jacobs The Uses of Sidewalks: Safety and Contact Cities are generators of economic life and source of changes in the world. Thereby, Jane Jacobs in her book The Death and Life of Great American Cities puts into relief the role of cities on the social and economic levels, while denouncing the disastrous consequences of urban renewal programs. To that extent, in chapters 2 and 3, she discusses The Uses of Sidewalks , arguing that over all people need safety and trust in their city. Therefore, first she claims the necessity of keeping streets and sidewalks safe because they are the vital organs of cities (29). Secondly, she argues that the functioning of cities should be organized in order to foster human interaction in which casual public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, she extends the idea of eyes upon the street showing that using and watching the street not only guarantees the safety, but it makes the street more attractive. She argues: the sight of people attracts still other people (37). Here, she points out the fact that people like watching other people and activities around them. Nobody likes places where there is nothing to see or to do. Interesting streets are attractive because we see different people, and different activities or businesses. In short, the more a street is frequented, the more it is secure and interesting and vice versa. Safe streets and sidewalks contribute to the economic expansion of the city and the social fulfillment of people. Then we can conclude that safety is a one of primordial factor to the social and economic development of the city. Approaching in the same direction of the importance of safety, Jacobs also discusses the theme of confidence in the streets, which is trust. She mentions the concept of sidewalks casual public trust. First, trust may evolve from human contact and interaction in public. Jacobs explains human interaction in these words: Cities are full of people with whom, from your viewpoint, or mine, or any other individual s, a certain degree of contact is useful or enjoyable; but you do not want them in your hair. And they do not want you in theirs either. (56) From interaction with fellows in public spaces people are inclined to trust everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An individual must be traveling outside of his or her home country for a period of time lasting less than one year (Socci, 2016). The consumer group encompasses several different segments, as tourism is not limited to leisure. Rather, there are several motivations for traveling abroad and partaking in international tourism. Motivations for traveling internationally include leisure, business, family matters, and seeking of medical treatment (2016). Recall that international tourism accounts for not only the act of traveling abroad, but also the activities of consumers within the borders of a foreign nation. Consumers who travel for different reasons consume differently. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If prices rise for international tourism, consumers will flock to domestic tourism. Overall, international tourism is elastic because it is a normal good and there are several substitutions. Youth tourism, however, is less elastic. Young people are less sensitive to increases in price because economic downturns encourage them to seek alternative career paths, which offsets high prices (2015). Consumer behavior is defined as all decisional acts performed individually or at a group level... containing decision processes that precede and influence these acts (Marin, 2013). There are two main types of motivation, internal and external. Consumer behavior is more predictable based on external factors, such as demographic characteristics. One can predict travel patterns based on age, gender, socioeconomic status, and other characteristics because these factors are measurable. Internal, or endogenous factors, also contribute to decision making and behavior, but are not outwardly apparent or measurable. Marin demonstrates this through the example of farm tourism, which is travel based on agriculture or the production of agricultural goods (2013). Certain consumers are attracted to farm tourism because the country life is appealing (2013). Endogenous factors can be purely aesthetic, as in this example, and entirely unrelated to demographic factors. • 7. The Water Bottling Industries Put Out False Advertising Interests/Issues Techniques of Neutralization (Pg. 200, Chapter 8) Ways of thinking or rationalizing that helps people deflect society norms. This week s video called Tapped brings up the world wide issue of water and the waste that come with it. Bottled water brings many concerns to the table, including health and environmental issues. One of the main issues that I found interesting was how much the water bottling industries put out false advertising. Did you ever look on a bottle of water and see beautiful mountains or a crystal clear stream? Well, you guessed it... false advertising. The video explained to us that not only does most of the bottled water that we drink come from a tap but it also is not tested the way that it is advertised. The bottled water that everyone is drinking has most likely only been ran through a filter, no testing for chemicals or bacteria has been done. We are led to believe that this water is more safe and/or better for us due to the very convincing messages written on the bottles. When in reality the water that comes from your kitchen sink is much better for you, unless otherwise noted. Aquafina water has one of the biggest false advertisement labels. The bottles label consists of a clean blue label showing images of snow capped mountains and the claim, Pure water, perfect taste. This leads to the incorrect conclusion that Aquafina is sourced from mountain spring water. When is reality, Aquafina come from a tap. In 2007 PepsiCo (the brand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It seems that today, everyone has to be careful of what they say and do so as to avoid offending someone. While everyone is busy worrying about extinguishing sexism towards women which still is an issue that needs to be taken care of, who is concerned with sexism towards men? Sexism is just as much of an issue to men as it is to women. Many people believe that men have advantages over women when comes to a topic such as occupation. Elizabeth Cady Stanton is a fine example of sexism toward men. While defending women?s rights and making a stand against sexism toward women in her piece Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions, Stanton demonstrates (many times) examples of sexism toward men: ?The history of mankind is a history of repeated injuries?on the part of man toward woman, having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over her? (165). By blaming men for every repression women have suffered over the years, Stanton is completely contradicting her argument by being sexist toward men. In a more modern example, a 2004 study by Peter Glick and Robin Wells, both of the Department of Psychology at Lawrence University, involving sixteen nations showed hostile attitudes toward men. ? Stereotype measures indicated that men were viewed as having?more powerful traits than women. The authors argue that hostile?attitudes toward men reflect and support gender inequality by characterizing men as being designed for dominance.? This leads to the subject of how men have been viewed throughout the course of history. In the past, men have been seen as the protectors and providers of the household, just as women have been most popularly viewed as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Pros and Cons of High Fructose Corn Syrup Essay High Fructose Corn Syrup Abstract: High fructose corn syrup is a commonly used artificial sweetener in foods. High fructose corn syrup is a hydrolyzed version of ordinary corn syrup, which is produced via a steeping process. It is so widely used because it is both economically favorable and it helps to preserve food for extended periods of time. However, the drawbacks of high fructose corn syrup include issues like potential obesity, diabetes, loss of liver function, malnutrition, and cancer. The fact that the producers of high fructose corn syrup can deceive people that HFCS is harmless makes matters worse. As corn will naturally ferment, it is bathed in water containing sulfur dioxide. The water is kept at an elevated temperature at about 120 Fahrenheit for the 40 hour duration of the steeping process. George Inglett indicates that during that time, the corn absorbs water, swelling to its maximum size, and starches are loosened from the protein matrix (79). Soluble components in the corn are also removed during steeping. The steepwater is often recovered, allowed to ferment, and used to make antibiotics in its fermented form. The second major step is milling. After the steepwater is drained, the kernels are sent to degerminating mills. Here, the kernels are torn apart and the oil containing germ is freed in centrifuges. The oil containing germs are ground to separate the starch and gluten from the coarser particles. These two elements are separated with centrifuges, and the extraction of water completes the process of recovery. Finally, the starch and gluten are refined to make pure corn syrup. By extracting different portions of the corn at different times, other products can be produced from basic corn like corn oil, feeds, starches, antibiotics, and other sweeteners. Producing corn syrup is the simple part of making high fructose corn syrup. It took the sugar industry many years to figure out how to increase the fructose content and thus the sweetness of corn syrup. Ordinary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This research was completed by Lisa Geraci and Tyler M. Miller, two researchers from Texas A M University. In order to better understand their work, it will be benefical to look at some of the background information on the topic. When it comes to older adults, one of the aspects that can affect memory is stereotypes. This was half the time that it took participants in the task success condition to arrange a sentence. Moreover, the control group did not receive this task to complete. After this task, all participants completed a memory experiment. For the experiment, the participants were given a list of 30 words. They had 2 minutes to evaluate this list after which they had to write down as many words as they could remember. For the results, the researchers found that there was a statistically significant difference between the groups. Specifically, older adults in the task success group had better recall than the control and task failure groups. Additionally, the older adults who experienced prior task failure did not have worse memory recall than the control group. Although these results posed true for the older adults, they did not extend to the younger adults. Analysis of the internal structure, defining aspects, characteristics and interrelationships to the other components can be achieved by conducting a concept analysis. The basic purpose is a process to discover the similarities and differences between concepts (Walker Avant, 2005). The intent of the concept analysis on the subject of compassion fatigue is to evaluate compassion fatigue in nursing and to determine the current conceptual use in efforts to clarify the relevance to nurses. The aim is to identify how the concept is currently utilized and how it could potentially be utilized in the future. IV. Definitions and Defining Attributes A. Compassion fatigue in nursing is defined as the resultant distress and physical experiences that occur when continuously caring for others, usually in highly stressful situations (Sheppard, 2015). Burnout and secondary traumatic stress disorder are terms identified in the literature as having affiliations with compassion fatigue. Media and advertisements set their standards for men to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v line and have beards etc. Neither males nor females live without having standards set up for them by society and media. Widely held perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men. Some impact is that these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and both genders will never feel comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women would continue to judge themselves and their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually have images of men without their shirts in order to show off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members of society expect to see a six pack,v line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives teenage boys fear to take off their shirt when going to the beach or smaller situations like going inside a pool because they are scared to be criticized for not being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both men and women which creates intimidation. Study of mass media magazines discovered that women s magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and articles promoting weight loss than men s magazines did (as cited in Guillen Barr.1944). For most of the remainder of the film, Rick s point of view is privileged, and his face and body are centered. This is especially true when he is in the company of Victor Laszlo, who is regularly consigned to the margins of the frame throughout the sequence when Rick first encounters Ilsa and her husband in the cafe. All of this seems natural because the film has so carefully constructed the viewer as a secret sharer in Rick s vision. The innumerable choices that are made in the production of each shot in Casablanca are concealed by our acceptance of Rick as our surrogate. Although few would find reason to object, the film chooses to deprive Laszlo of a flashback, not to mention an As Time Goes By to unite him with Ilsa. Magazine covers, advertisements or any publication embed a set of ideologies. O Shaughnessy and Standler describe ideologies as sets of social values, ideas, beliefs, feelings and representations by which people collectively make sense of the world they live in (2012; 174). Ideologies try to manipulate people into buying a way of life as well as goods (Dyer, 1982:5). You can develop an addiction to certain drugs that may include: narcotic painkillers, sedatives, tranquilizers, and stimulants.1 Prescription drugs are the most common abused category of drugs, right next to marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and ... The combination of the two could stop breathing altogether.4 Cough and cold medications are some of the most commonly abused over the counter medications. They contain an ingredient called dextromethorphan. However, to get to the high craved by people who use drugs, large quantities are needed. At high doses, dextromethorphan causes side effects similar to those of the drugs Ketamine, or PCP, by affecting similar sites to the brain. Ketamine and PCP are considered dissociative drugs, which make people feel disconnected from their normal selves. When taken as directed, over the counter drugs are safe and effective, but high doses can cause problems. It s always important to read the bottle labels and take over the counter medications only as directed.4 Not all prescription drugs have the potential for abuse and addiction. Many drugs don t even act in the brain. For example, antibiotics are not addictive. On the rare occasion people who take drugs for medical conditions may become addicted. This is why it is extremely important to be under a doctor s care while taking prescription medication.4 Most prescription drugs are taken in a form that gets to the brain slowly at a dose that treats a problem, but doesn t overwhelm the system. Both of which reduce the likelihood of an addiction. Long term medical use of prescription drugs can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia My research topic is about Leukemia. My goal is to inform about what leukemia is, the causes, the risk factors, the history of the disease, how it is treated, and how it could be treated in the future to increase curability and reduce mortality. My focus is going to be on a specific form of leukemia, called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, or AML3. It is called AML3 because it is the M3 subtype of a form of leukemia called Acute Myelocytic Leukemia. Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It forms when there is a mutation in the stem cells that form into various blood cells. This mutation causes the cells to replicate uncontrollably, and are put into the bloodstream while still immature. Since the blood is full of these immature cells, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although many of the drugs used now are the same when AML3 was first discovered, we have found better ways of implementing them, and newer drugs to use either to supplement or replace altogether. One such drug is all trans retinoic acid. all trans retinoic acid, or ATRA, is a drug that induces differentiation of leukemic promyelocytes into mature granulocytes. . . (Coombs et al.) . On its own, ATRA produced complete remission rates of up to 72%, but unfortunately the patients suffered from frequent relapses. Another newer drug implemented in clinical settings was Arsenic Trioxide, or ATO. ATO was first utilised in APL patients in the early 1990s, and led to a high CR rate with relatively long term remissions when used as a single agent. In preclinical models, the combination of ATRA and ATO demonstrated synergism in inducing differentiation and apoptosis, allowing for targeted therapy of APL without chemotherapy. (Coombs et al.). Basically, on their own, both drugs work fairly well, but together they work with each other to kill the leukemic cells. However, this was only in models. They still needed to prove themselves in a clinical environment over a wide range of patients. A group of South Asian cancer centers took the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Edward Jenner and the Cowpox Vaccine Most parents trust their pediatrician or family doctor more than anyone when it comes to the health of their child. However, many parents are beginning to question their doctor s advice when it comes to vaccinating their children. After countless accusations of harmful effects of childhood vaccinations, some parents have decided to stop having their child vaccinated, putting not only their child, but the entire human population in danger. In 1796, Edward Jenner created a vaccine developed from the cowpox virus. He then gave this vaccine to a 13 year old boy who was suffering from smallpox. The boy became immune to the smallpox disease and Jenner was named the founding father of vaccinations. After his discovery, vaccines were later created for Cholera, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Polio ( A Brief History ). Vaccines were developed in order to trick the body into making antibodies ( Understanding ). Using germs that are similar, but not harmful, to the disease a vaccine is trying to prevent, vaccines are able to mimic body responses by creating memory in the T and B helper cells that can help the body fight diseases before one develops symptoms of the illness ( Vaccines and Your Health ). The government supports and enforces vaccine use because it can take weeks for the body to naturally create enough antibodies to fight diseases, and therefore, it is dangerous to rely only on natural immunity ( Understanding ). The controversy regarding vaccinations originated after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role of Corporate Reputation As it pertains to organizational performance and social responsibility, a company s corporate reputation plays a large role. The biggest example is that of a company s reputation amongst its potential customers. A company s main performance goal is to earn a high level of profit, typically through a high level of revenue. However, if that company has a poor reputation amongst those potential customers, the company will not be earning their money. On the other hand, a business with a highly though of reputation can also attract more customers than they otherwise would have, therefore earning more revenue. For social responsibility, the biggest impact a company s corporate reputation is found in that company s ability to influence other companies to follow in social responsibility initiatives. • 38. The Human Body Is Complex, And All Humans Paul Ojugo The human body is complex, and all humans are similar to one another in many ways. As humans we share a lot of characteristics in common with one another, such as having hands, feet, eyes, nose, gender, ethnic backgrounds and etc. There has to be some characteristic or organ we have that differentiate all of us, and all these features we have in common, and that is our brain. The brain is one of the largest and most complex organs in the human body. It is made up more than 100 billion nerves that communicate in trillions of connections called synapses. Synapse is a junction between two nerve cells, consisting of a minute gap across which impulses pass by diffusion of a neurotransmitter. The brain is made up of many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1997). The cerebellum is connected by many multisynaptic pathways with all parts of the central nervous system, including the cerebrum, basal ganglia, diencephalon, limbic system, brainstem, and spinal cord. This makes the cerebellum one of the busiest connections in the human brain (Greg etal 1997).The largest portion of the brain is the cerebrum. This section contains tools which are responsible for most of the brain function, and it is divided into four subsections. The temporal lobe, the occipital lobe, parietal lobe, and frontal lobe. The cerebrum is divided into a right and left hemisphere which are connected by axons that relay messages from one to the other. This matter is made of nerve cells which carry signals between the organ and the nerve cells which run through the body. The parietal lobe is one of the four lobes located in the cerebral hemisphere, this lobe focuses on comprehension, visual functions, language, reading, and internal stimuli. Tactile sensation and sensory comprehension are the main trait focused in this lobe. The parietal lobe is separated into two different cortex s named sensory cortex, and motor cortex, The sensory cortex which is located in the front portion of the parietal lobe receives information relayed from the spinal cord regarding the position of various body parts and how they are moving, this area of the brain can also be used to ...
