Bovine Uniform Encephalopathy Research Paper
Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is frequently known as mad cow disease. This is an
infectious disease caused by an infectious protein known as prion when it is in harmful form. The
illness is contracted by contaminated remain of other animals that are consumed by the cattle. BSE is
a lethal neurodegenerative disease known as encephalopathy that causes a spongy deterioration of the
brain after multiplication of the harmful prior.
BSE is caused by the misfolded prion protein known as PrPsc which originated from PrPc protein.
Prion proteins are formed when PrPc becomes a misfolded polypeptide chain a change in the shape of
the protein. PrPsc influences the folding of PrPc multiple times leading to aggregates to form fibers

Media’s Influence on Children and Adolescents Essay examples
Unlike previous generations who were introduced to the internet, television and social media, the
present generation is born in it. By this statement, it is implied that children today are much closer to
technology and media than adults are, and so, are more likely to be affected by it. Perhaps, the highest
impact on the physical, cognitive, and social emotional development of children and adolescents is by
media due to its ready availability through Smart phones, tablet PCs and other portable devices. This
paper attempts to evaluate some of the influences of media on various aspects of child and adolescent
development.
Impact on physical development: Excess use of media hinders physical development and growth. The
main reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Impact on cognitive development: Media promotes depression, anxiety and violent behavior in
children. This is because many acts of violence are depicted in prime time shows and in video games.
High levels of television viewing are causally related to aggressive behavior and the acceptance of
aggressive attitudes (as cited in Strasburger Donnerstein, 1999, p. 132). Furthermore, media affects
children s ability to learn. This is because they get used to learning through song and dance on
edutainment TV shows, and when such excitement is absent at school, they feel it is boring and tend to
lose interest in academics (Clean Cut Media, 2010). More and more children are being diagnosed with
attention disorders because they tend to multi task while using media, by listening to music, chatting
online, watching TV etc., at the same time (Clean Cut Media, 2010). An advantage of the internet is
that it promotes learning through interactive media and interesting content, but utilizing it depends on
the choice of the children.
Impact on social emotional development: Media has a profound impact on social emotional
development of children. Face to face interaction among children may suffer due to increased online
interaction,

Fosfomycin Resistance Against Salmonella Species
A group of researchers from Canada have discovered that there is a gene that confines an antibody
from Salmonella. They discovered that this gene is found in broiler chickens. Broiler chickens aren t
used as much for egg production. These chickens are known for being raised on farms and then
butchered for meat. The researchers took their information and published a journal where the
information and research can be found. The gene itself is named fosA7; it got its name because it
carries a high level of resistance to fosfomycin. A common use to fosfomycin is an antibiotic and is
commonly used to help women cure their urinary tract infections. The 7 is fosA7 represents that it is
the seventh of the fosA genes that have been discovered. As of now fosfomycin resistance is limited
against Salmonella species. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diarra, is a research scientist in Food Safety at Agriculture and Agri Food Canada. Diarra said, The
powerful resistance the fosA7 gene confers is worrisome. It could spread among different Salmonella
species, as well as other bacterial pathogen species, via horizontal gene transfer, due to increased use
of fosfomycin in both clinical and veterinary settings. Thus, vigilant monitoring for the spread of
fosfomycin resistance in bacteria, isolated from humans and animals, is needed. Because of what
Diarra said, many researchers wanted to test to see the strength of the resistance. For the researchers to
test the strength of this gene they had to clone it and place it into the chromosome that was non
antibiotic resistant. The chromosome that they were placing the chromosomes into was Salmonella
Enterica. After reviewing their results, they found that their hypothesis was correct. The gene fosA7 is
responsible for the resistance of fosfomycin. The gene binds to fosfomycin and this is what causes it

Fear In The Exorcist
Obviously, to not believe in what Christ s taught and fought against, inevitably becomes the same
thing as not believing in Him.
Conceivably, what does appear ludicrous are people thinking that demonic forces exist in the form of
someone being possessed like the movie, The Exorcist, or occurring in the form of little ugly ogres
hiding in the shadows. On the contrary, just as humanity has advanced and grown intelligently over
the centuries, so has this calculating evil power that transpires as keenly sophisticated and technically
savvy. Within the majority of people s daily lives this evil goes unrecognized; particularly, through the
Internet, TV and other comparable methods, slowly brainwashing people into a cold indifference.

Family Structure And Juvenile Delinquency
In recent years it seems that early exposure to crime is increasing the number of crimes committed by
minors. This type of crime is mostly known as juvenile delinquency. Juvenile delinquency is defined
as young adults, people under eighteen, braking or violating the law (Websters). Family structure can
affect juvenile delinquency in numerous ways. Family structure can include family support system,
home environment, and family unity. The independent variable is family structure and the dependent
variable is juvenile delinquency. Home environment plays a role in the production of juvenile
delinquency.
Kierkus and Hewitt (2009) in The Contextual Nature of the Family Structure/Delinquency relationship
discussed how family structure is an important factor in delinquency but there might also be other
factors that influence this type of behavior. The relationship between a nontraditional family structure
and delinquency differs according to six distinct circumstances: age, gender, race, socioeconomic
status (SES), family size, and place of residence (Kierkus and Hewitt, 2009). After analyzing these
circumstances only age and family size affect more the family structure/delinquency relationship
considering teens who suffered from parental attachment are older and come from larger families
(Kierkus and Hewitt, 2009). Researchers before have focused on one or two issues dealing with family
structure and delinquency (Kierkus and Hewitt, 2009). Studies have dealt with family

The Big Friendly Giant Analysis
Roald Dahl wrote the big friendly giant as a contribution of his seven year old daughter who passed
away. Dahl was a British World War 2 fighter and later became interested in writing books for adults.
Soon after, he began to write children books and mad big hits off popular books and movies such as
James And the Giant Peach. Roald Dahl had 5 kids and a wife named Patricia Neal. The Big Friendly
Giant was dedicated to Oliva, his daughter, who died of a disease called measles encephalitis which is
swelling of the brain. The book was published in 1982 which was 20 years after died. A person
shouldn t be judged since they are different than you, interpreting someone s ways may contribute to
your outlook on them such as how are they different from you, what are they morals and how the
character behaves. In the book The Big Friendly Giant, a little girl named Sophie was captured from
an orphanage by a giant. The giant was genuine and nice to Sophie, he also was a vegetarian which
revealed he wasn t going to eat Sophie. The Giant was called The Big friendly Giant since he always
treated Sophie respectfully and protected her. The Big Friendly Giant took Sophie to an ancient cave
which was his home. His house was immense to Sophie since he lived in a world where giants exist
and everything was massive. Outside his house lived other giants who were carnivores and mean to
the big friendly giant. The giants who lived outside the cave would go snatch children up and eat
them.

Brave Orchid In The Woman Warrior
In The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston, Brave Orchid (the mother of Kingston) walks the
line of parenting between helping her daughter succeed and hurting her. While raising Kingston she
always seems to be putting a pressure on her to be better and that she isn t good enough. By the end of

despite the fact that it hurt their relationship, Brave Orchid would tell kingston stories of strength and

then adds and here I was in the US paying $200 for you(Maxine) . While maxine was looking for
validation from her mother by asking how much the girl was worth , brave orchid still shrugs her off
like maxine wasn t worth it and hasn t lived up to her expectations. Trying to teach maxine the lesson
of saying the opposite will make her stronger, because it will theoretically make Maxine want to prove

While making Maxine stronger she also put up a barrier between them making it even harder for

The Characteristics Of Impactful Leadership In Jackson Vs....
1. E. Bronson Ingram was known for his strong leadership in both the business world and through his
philanthropic efforts. Describe which leadership characteristics you believe to be essential for creating
greater opportunities at the intersection of entrepreneurship and high impact philanthropy.
Andrew Carnegie once claimed that No man becomes rich unless he enriches others. Carnegie,
alongside other captains of industry, such as Cornelius Vanderbilt, pioneered the pairing of
entrepreneurship and philanthropy, through inspiring leadership. He witnessed the poverty and
destitution of the time and led both the business and philanthropic communities, alike, in the effort to
better society. He was an entrepreneurial and philanthropic leader due to his commitment to his vision
and his continual recognition of the potential he had to thwart society s injustice and misdeeds.
Consequently, with an undying commitment to one s endeavors, as well as constant recognition of
what one can do in order to combat the wrongs of the world, true, impactful leadership can form at the
intersection of philanthropy and entrepreneurship.
Without commitment, no vision can come to fruition. Great tasks require great dedication. Especially
when balancing both entrepreneurship and philanthropy, commitment is integral to every endeavor.
For example, without Steve Job s commitment to becoming a revolutionary innovator, the devices we
hold in our hands everyday would be nonexistent, as would be his charitable and humanitarian efforts.
However, with ardent fervor he thrived in entrepreneurship, founding the world s most well known
tech company, and, subsequently, philanthropy, donating many of the funds that he raised to noble
causes. Dedication was his key to success, putting his whole heart in every task that he undertook.
Thus, in order to maximize the opportunities at the crossroads of philanthropy and entrepreneurship,
this undying pursuance is necessary for successful leaders. Furthermore, recognition of one s abilities
to affect positive change is intrinsic to leading any mission. The ability to perceive, beyond oneself, is
the key to locating and targeting a problem with success. For entrepreneurship and philanthropy to
thrive

Figurative Language In Alice In Wonderland
An author frequently exemplifies different messages and conflict within a story or novel. More often
or not, an author portrays certain types of literary devices to convey a message between the setting and
characters. In Lewis Carroll s novel, Alice in Wonderland, Alice s curiosity and innocence as a child in
the Victorian Era leads to her exploring another world called Wonderland. She is challenged to find
the true meaning of exploring outside of an ordinary world which leads her to question her own
identity. The depths of wonderland and many influences Alice stumbles across changes the dynamics
of her inner self from a child to an adult. The white rabbit resembles her escape outside of reality into
a new world that ultimately creates a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carroll uses the food and drinks as a way of representing Alice s curious appetite for growing up in
her societal role. As she wanders around Wonderland, her curiosity often leads to her eating or
drinking an object in order to satisfy her curiosity. When she drinks the Drink Me substance she says,
Curiouser and curiouser! Cried Alice she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot
how to speak good English (Carroll 6). Many times throughout the novel, Alice adventures revolve
around food and drinks such as sweet baked snacks, potions and tea to appease her curiosity. Alice
begins to lose control of her eating and drinking habits of Wonderland which demonstrates her
maturity as she looks towards adulthood in the reality world. The more food and drinks Alice applies
to herself, Carroll establishes the metaphor of growing up results in unpredictable events and changes
that are irreversible. Alice stumbles across the Cheshire Cat who portrays the opposite of growing up
as he believes taking short cuts are better than asking for advice. The Chesire cat exclaims to Alice,
Then it doesn t matter which way you go (Carroll 49). The metaphor from the Cheshire Cat resulted
from Alice asking about visiting the Mad Hatter. In this case, The Cheshire Cat is a representation of
taking the easy route and not visiting the mad hatter,

Arguement For Rewarding Human Organs
Many people believe that they should be rewarded for saving another person s life by donating an
organ for them, claiming that they had a choice, so they should be praised for making the right

we dropped, or washing our hands after we use the restroom. People aren t ordinarily rewarded, or
praised, for something we are already expected to do. But, that is what is expected to happen when

Persuasive Speech On Buying A Dog
Have you ever purchased a dog without considering how you re going to pay for its food and how you
re going to pay for its medical needs? Well, I have. I m going to be telling you about the time I
purchased a husky and sold him a week later. Jazmin and I tended to get stressed out about little things
like where he s going to sleep or what kind of food will we feed him. So please, always study the
breed of the dog you re thinking of adopting, dogs are very hard work. My mom said if we have
enough money to buy a dog, we could buy it. As long as we take care of him. I really want a Siberian
Husky my sister Jazmin said as she slowly scanned through Craigslist ads.
After weeks of searching for dog adds we came across an ad, advertising a Siberian Husky. We called
the seller of the husky and offered $250. We waited days for the seller to respond, finally about three
days later, he said we could meet up any day of the week. The next obstacle we had to overcome was
to convince our parents to drive us to Sacramento to meet up with the seller. After days of begging our
parents to drive us to Sacramento, my father got so fed up with us begging, he said yes. We informed
the seller we would be going the next day. The next day was the moment Jazmin and I have been
waiting for, we were going to invest all of our money on a dog. During the long car drive, that felt like
years, Hi, are you Jazmin. he said. Jazmin responded saying yes. His reasoning for selling the dog was

Social Policies And Welfare And Social Issues
Social policies are public policies of which the government uses for welfare and social issues.
Welfare, according to American Politics Today, is the financial or other assistance provided to
individuals by the government, usually based on need (Bianco 448). These welfare programs play a
role in citizen s lives, especially those of low income. However, in some instances, they are there to
help the wealthy as well, such as bailouts of the financial sector. As the textbook reads, the persistence
of poverty remains the primary motivator for most social policy today (Bianco 450). The rapid growth
of social policy is proving that the rate of income inequality in the United States is growing at a steady
pace. For example, the income distribution from 1979 to 2009 the average income of the top 1 percent
grew by $700,000 to $1,220,100 (a 133 percent gain), compared to a $2,600 gain to $18,900 (16
percent) for the bottom fifth of the income levels. The wealth gap is even greater: the median networth
of U.S. households in 2007 was $120,300, but the median wealth for the top 10 percent was $1.89
million, and this group held 73 percent of that nation s wealth (Bianco 450). The economy in America
has an unequal wealth distribution where a small percentage of the population posses most of the
wealth in the country, while the rest of the country has little to spare. This leads to poverty and income
inequality. To measure income equality economists often measure how much income

Drawbacks with the current approach of QALY:
Current approach by NICE is though very useful in terms of getting a quantitative assessment however
the QALY approach does have some drawbacks. Some of these drawbacks are listed below:
No room to assess the innovation of a new product
Subjective nature of scales to assess QALY (EQ 5D),
No assessment of burden of illness

No assessment of wider societal benefit
Proposal to Modify the current approach
A proposal for NICE to modify their current approach is vital in order to improve the process. One key
thing would be to assess the degree of innovation of the new product/device/medicine. Let s review
first what innovation means and what can be the process improvement.

Crime Analysis Enhances Criminal Investigations
Even though there has been fluctuation in particular crime categories, overall crime in general has
decreased in Australia in recent years (Dearden Bricknell: 2008). It is due to this fluctuation in
particular crimes that the media continues to play a role in misrepresenting crime rates, creating
community fear and concerns regarding crime in this country (Kidd Hewitt: 2002). The flow on effect
is that it creates extra pressure on law enforcement agencies to try and bring crime under control. Law
enforcement agencies turn to criminal investigators who are the ones that analyse crime information
and provide guidance and advice to them. As with technology advancing, so is the face of crimes, with
crimes becoming more sophisticated, organised and global (Laycock: 2008). With these advances in
technology it creates more opportunities for offenders to commit crimes. It is the goal of criminal
investigators to reduce or eliminate these opportunities and thus reducing crime. Just like offenders
who take the opportunities to commit crime, criminal investigators take the opportunity to use and
apply their new knowledge to their working practices. Research suggests that traditional policing
methods (reactive, incident driven approach) are ineffective. If traditional policing methods are
ineffective, then investigators have to look for an alternative to effectively deal with crime without
using excessive imprisonment. Whilst in the past criminal investigators have

Emotions In A Tale Of Two Cities
Duff Brenna states, All literature shows us the power of emotion. It is emotion, not reason, that
motivates characters in literature. In other words, feelings are what essentially drives a character and
influences their actions. This statement is evident in the novel, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles
Dickens, through the feelings and actions of Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay, whom clearly depict
this idea.
In the novel, A Tale of Two Cities, one of the major characters who supports the conception of feelings
influencing one s actions was shown by Sydney Carton. Sydney was generally an unhappy,
unconfident and a fairly depressed individual who felt like he didn t have a purpose in the world. One
of his actions that was a reflection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darnay was a upright, honest and kind hearted individual who got stuck in numerous situations, that
he didn t necessarily take part in. A reflection of his feelings of graciousness was when he was willing
to return to Paris just to save Gabelle. Despite all of the trouble and inconveniences he would have to
encounter, he was still willing to go and help Gabelle. Another action that reflected Darnay s honest
emotions was when he told Dr. Manette who he really was, an Evermonde. No matter how terrible his
family name was and how ashamed he felt, he came through with his true identity. Leading me to my
third example, another depiction of Darnay s upright feelings was when avoided affiliation with
France and the Evremondes barbarous ways and previous conflicts by leaving France to go to England
because he disliked the French aristocracy and the Evermonde name so strongly, and simply detested
affiliation with such a cruel family and lifestyle, because he was not that type of person. Undoubtedly,
Charles Darnay frequently had his actions affected by his different feelings and emotions throughout
the entire novel. As Duff Brenna once said, All literature shows us the power of emotion. It is
emotion, not reason, that motivates characters in literature. In A Tale of Two Cities, two significant
characters, Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay often had particular

Perk Of Being A Wallflower, And The Perks Of Being A...
To the average American teenager, high school may have seemed like a real life nightmare. So why is
it that so many movies today revolve around this hellish concept? According to David Denby, the
author of High School Confidential: Notes on Teen Movies , there is a whole genre of these teen films.
As explained by Denby, such genre films include stereotypical male and female villains of the social
queen or jock type, mixed up emotions and teens rising above the poisonous system of status,
snobbery and exclusion that is commonly known as high school (Denby 367). By this definition, the
film The Perks of Being a Wallflower can be categorized as a teen film. Based on the book published
in 1999, The Perks of Being a Wallflower follows Charlie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, for the majority or teens, there is a considerable amount of teen angst that comes from this
emotional growth. When depicted in movies, Denby explains that these films arise from remembered
hurts which then get recast in symbolic form. (Denby 369). In Denby s example, the main character
may have suffered from the death of a parent and thus is ill equipped for the emotional pressures of
school. (Denby 369). This can be seen to be incredibly true for the main character of The Perks of
Being a Wallflower. Through out the film, there are memories brought up from Charlie s past about his
best friend s suicide, his Aunt s Death, and his past sexual abuse. For example, when Sam kisses
Charlie and rubs his leg, Charlie gets flashbacks of a similar situation in which his adult Aunt sexually
abuses him. Due to his past, Charlie is depicted as unable to cope with the problems he faces, through
his actions over the course of the film. Charlie takes a passive role in his life. For example, when his
sister is abused by her boyfriend, Charlie does not step in. He also doesn t speak up when Mary
Elizabeth declares that she and Charlie are dating, though he clearly doesn t have any interest in her.
From the audience s point of view, it is known that his passive actions are a result of his emotional
problems. However, as explained by Denby, the motherless child also has powers and will someday be

Comparison Of Waiting For Icarus And Muse Des Beaux Arts
The two poems Waiting for Icarus and Musée des Beaux Arts are narrative poems. Musée des Beaux
Arts is a poem written by W. H. Auden and published in 1938. Waiting for Icarus is a poem written by
Muriel Rukeyser and published in 1973. The poem Musée des Beaux Arts is about how no one truly
cares when a tragedy is taking place, unless said tragedy concerns them directly. The poem Waiting
for Icarus tells the story about a woman who is reminiscing being abandoned by her lover while
waiting for him at the beach. The two poems have a great deal of similarities and differences between
them. Despite the fact that Musée des Beaux Arts uses an indifferent tone and irregular rhyme scheme
and Waiting for Icarus uses a melancholic tone and no discernible rhyme scheme, both poems use the
themes of abandonment and suffering and the myth of Icarus in order to convey to their readers how
people deal with pain and misery.
Auden touches upon many topics in his poem Musée des Beaux Arts. The Encyclopedia of American
Poetry: The Twentieth Century writes that, the poem condemns people s habitual inattention to the
miseries of others (Mao). In other words, one of the primary focuses in Musée des Beaux Arts is that
of apathy. Auden begins his poem by writing, About suffering they were never wrong, / The old
Masters: how well they understood / Its human position: how it takes place (lns. 1 3). Here, Auden is
setting up another one of the poem s main topics, which is human suffering. Auden is writing about
how the old Masters knew how to capture the image of human suffering within the confines of their
canvases (ln. 2). Auden then writes, While someone else is eating or opening a window or just
walking dully along; / How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting / For the miraculous
birth (lns. 4 6). In these lines Auden is telling his readers that ordinary life will always go on by stating
that the old patiently await the arrival of newborn babies, which is a reference to the circle of life. He
continues this idea in the next few lines when he writes, there always must be / Children who did not
specially want it to happen, skating / On a pond at the edge of the wood (lns. 6 8). In lines 6, 7,

Eli Lilly Ranbaxy joint venture Essay
Executive Summary The Eli Lilly Ranbaxy joint venture allowed both Eli Lilly and Ranbaxy as
separate companies to grow and expand as one venture. The support and reliability that both
companies had with one another allowed for a strong business relationship to form which led to the
same business strategy vision and goals. This joint venture eliminated trade with other companies for
the same thing that one another could share to become one of the largest and most successful
pharmaceutical companies in the Indian market. The problem that Eli Lilly Ranbaxy was being
exposed to was a plateau of success with a joint venture and the thoughts of separating and selling
stakes became an option. The companies together touch every target market ... Show more content on

Eli Lilly was approached by a leading pharmaceutical firm in India to consider building a joint venture
together. Ranbaxy Laboratories began as a family business in the 1960 s, but with strong
entrepreneurial skills the company grew to become one of the largest manufacturers for bulk drugs
and generic drugs. The two companies considered pursuing a joint venture that would support on
another s products by supplying one other with ingredients to complete company products without
having to trade with other companies internationally. The JV would potentially lead both companies,
together to become a dominant force in the Indian market. In 1993 the two companies decided to build
a joint venture called Eli Lilly Ranbaxy JV that had a common business strategy and the intention to
focus on high ethical standards, technology, and innovation. The JV focused directly on the Indian
market since Ranbaxy had an existing relationship with the Indian Pharmaceutical Market they were
able to continue exploring potential clients and business relationships. Ranbaxy alone was a very well
known pharmaceutical company that had a large distribution network and was able to easily obtain
government approvals, licenses, distribution and supplies. The advantages to this joint venture are the
work ethic by both company s senior management teams as well as the previous relationships that

Jason Medea
How do Jason s feelings at the end of the play differ from those revealed in other encounters?
In their first encounter, Jason appears to be trying to make himself feel as if he is better than Medea,
and as if he is the bigger person than she, You no doubt hate me: but I could never bear ill will to you
implies that he is a better person for helping her even though she hates him and that even after all that
s happened and all she has said he still could never bear ill will . He continues to try and defend his
actions, claiming it was for social status, that he didn t marry for love, but for the fact that he wants to
know they will have a good life and not be poor; also, as he marries the King s daughter, his sons with

Later in this passage, he also refers to Medea as a foolish woman when she tries to send the Coronet
and dress to Glauce, and this theme of sexism is carried out a few lines later If my wife values me at
all she will yield to me more than to costly presents, I am sure of that ; again, the attitude of the
ancient Greek time was that women were to do what they were told, rather than what they wanted.
They were to be obedient, and not break any rules.
In the third and final encounter, at the end of the play, it appears Jason has reached his peripeteia, his
downfall. Medea, at this point, has killed their two sons and it is clear he loses complete control of his
emotions, and he begins wildly insulting Medea, calling her an abomination . It is also earlier in this
part that he calls her the woman I will kill. at the beginning of the play, he was supposedly in love
with her, whilst at the end, he wants nothing more than her to be dead. It becomes obvious that Jason
has realised what Medea is truly like, how manipulative and cunning she is; and how she tricked him,
in certain parts, at least, into believing she was just an obedient wife to him. He claims

Essay on Junior Class President at County High
A scream echoed through the empty hallways of County High school as we heard the news. How did
that happen? I thought to myself. This had to have been planned out previously by someone.
This event was the Student Government elections held last year, my sophomore year. I had big plans. I
wanted to be the Junior Class president. Being Junior Class president is a big responsibility due to
prom, concessions and other fund raisers, but I wanted the position anyway. I knew I could handle it.
My mom gave me a great idea for a theme that I would carry throughout my posters, my speech and
my clothing attire on Election Day. I researched pictures I could put on posters. I bought stickers to
hand out to people on election day that went along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It turned out I didn t have it easy, though. Tiffani had a great campaign going and a lot of people were
supporting her. It was fun walking down the freshman/sophomore hallway during campaign week
because our class had posters plastered all over our wall. There wasn t a lot of wall left to see because
of all the posters. Walking down the hallway wasn t only fun,but scary at the same time. Tiffani s
posters were awesome, which made more people back her up. They also made me jealous because my
posters weren t as creative. My posters stuck with my Bee theme though, which was one trait Tiffani s
posters didn t have.
Tiffani and I talked to each other about running against each other. She assured me that nothing would
change if I won, and I told her the same. I knew that if she won, I would be fine with that. I had
already overloaded myself with activities and if I didn t have Student Government to worry about I
would be much better off. Even though she assured me, I still feared that if I won, Tiffani would be
very jealous and resentful towards me. It would also be hard to talk about Student Government
activities with Tiffani if I made it and she didn t.
All these fears and conceited ideas I had, I prayed about. I told God everything. It didn t matter to me
if I won or not, I just wanted to keep Tiffani s friendship. After I prayed, God took that into His

Microsoft Azure SQL Database
Visual creation of a Microsoft Azure SQL Database.
Hi Kids, welcome back for another thrilling, and hopefully edifying, blog post.
You may recall that I wrote a blog a little while ago about creating a database using Microsoft Azure
SQL Database. Did you read that one? If not, here it is. Well, I was thinking about that blog and
thought You know what? I bet people would love to see a visual guide to setting up a database in
MASD. So, here it is.
Firstly, you ll need an Azure account. Don t have one? No problem. Go here to sign up for a free trial.
Now, they will ask for a credit card, but you needn t worry that they ll charge you at some point in the
future (unlike those dodgy ads where you get something for free, just give us your credit card details
and we ll charge your card monthly forever.) They won t charge you. I should know, I ve used many
different email addresses to sign up for quite a few trials over the last few years. So go and get an
Azure account now... I ll wait...
Goodo, you re all set with your Azure account, I want you to sign in to the portal with it. The URL is
portal.azure.com.
This is what it should look like (this week at least... Azure is rapidly evolving technology, the interface
changes to reflect this.)

Alrighty, at this stage I m going to ask you to click the big green + at the bottom left of the page,
thanks. You should now be looking at a screen like this:

The Four Major Approaches Of Sociocultural Evolution
Society refers to people who interact in a defined territory and share culture (Macionis,2012,p.108).
They are four major approaches that display ways in which societies have changed over the past
10,000 years. The first approach was made by Gerhard Lenski who talked about society in relation to
changes concerning technology. Lenski uses the term sociocultural evolution to describe such
changes. Sociocultural evolution is changes that occur as a society gains very new technology
(Macionis,2012,p.88). In the earliest years, societies lived by hunting and gathering. People made
tools to hunt and gather food. Such societies were very petite so it was easy for them to migrate
whenever food was limited. Hunters and gathers spend most of their time hunting and collecting food
for them to satisfy their hunger. They depend on each other to get their duties done. Women were
responsible for vegetation and men went out to hunt. The young children and elderly help out
whenever they could. In most hunting and gathering societies there is a leader who basically takes
control but still has to go out and hunt for food. The basic weapons used by such societies were spears,
bow and arrows and stone knives. These communities were not really prone to much danger the thing
they feared the most was droughts and storms. Gathering and hunting societies began to decrease as
societies became more developed. Along the way, societies developed horticulture, which is the use of
hand tools to

This is an infectious disease caused by an infectious protein known as prion when it is in harmful form. The illness is contracted by contaminated remain of other animals that are consumed by the cattle. BSE is a lethal neurodegenerative disease known as encephalopathy that causes a spongy deterioration of the brain after multiplication of the harmful prior. BSE is caused by the misfolded prion protein known as PrPsc which originated from PrPc protein. Prion proteins are formed when PrPc becomes a misfolded polypeptide chain a change in the shape of the protein. • 3. Media’s Influence on Children and Adolescents Essay examples Unlike previous generations who were introduced to the internet, television and social media, the present generation is born in it. By this statement, it is implied that children today are much closer to technology and media than adults are, and so, are more likely to be affected by it. Perhaps, the highest impact on the physical, cognitive, and social emotional development of children and adolescents is by media due to its ready availability through Smart phones, tablet PCs and other portable devices. This paper attempts to evaluate some of the influences of media on various aspects of child and adolescent development. Impact on physical development: Excess use of media hinders physical development and growth. The main reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Impact on cognitive development: Media promotes depression, anxiety and violent behavior in children. This is because many acts of violence are depicted in prime time shows and in video games. High levels of television viewing are causally related to aggressive behavior and the acceptance of aggressive attitudes (as cited in Strasburger Donnerstein, 1999, p. 132). Furthermore, media affects children s ability to learn. This is because they get used to learning through song and dance on edutainment TV shows, and when such excitement is absent at school, they feel it is boring and tend to lose interest in academics (Clean Cut Media, 2010). More and more children are being diagnosed with attention disorders because they tend to multi task while using media, by listening to music, chatting online, watching TV etc., at the same time (Clean Cut Media, 2010). An advantage of the internet is that it promotes learning through interactive media and interesting content, but utilizing it depends on the choice of the children. Impact on social emotional development: Media has a profound impact on social emotional development of children. Face to face interaction among children may suffer due to increased online interaction, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Fosfomycin Resistance Against Salmonella Species A group of researchers from Canada have discovered that there is a gene that confines an antibody from Salmonella. They discovered that this gene is found in broiler chickens. Broiler chickens aren t used as much for egg production. These chickens are known for being raised on farms and then butchered for meat. The researchers took their information and published a journal where the information and research can be found. The gene itself is named fosA7; it got its name because it carries a high level of resistance to fosfomycin. A common use to fosfomycin is an antibiotic and is commonly used to help women cure their urinary tract infections. The 7 is fosA7 represents that it is the seventh of the fosA genes that have been discovered. As of now fosfomycin resistance is limited against Salmonella species. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diarra, is a research scientist in Food Safety at Agriculture and Agri Food Canada. Diarra said, The powerful resistance the fosA7 gene confers is worrisome. It could spread among different Salmonella species, as well as other bacterial pathogen species, via horizontal gene transfer, due to increased use of fosfomycin in both clinical and veterinary settings. Thus, vigilant monitoring for the spread of fosfomycin resistance in bacteria, isolated from humans and animals, is needed. Because of what Diarra said, many researchers wanted to test to see the strength of the resistance. For the researchers to test the strength of this gene they had to clone it and place it into the chromosome that was non antibiotic resistant. The chromosome that they were placing the chromosomes into was Salmonella Enterica. After reviewing their results, they found that their hypothesis was correct. The gene fosA7 is responsible for the resistance of fosfomycin. The gene binds to fosfomycin and this is what causes it to become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Family Structure And Juvenile Delinquency In recent years it seems that early exposure to crime is increasing the number of crimes committed by minors. This type of crime is mostly known as juvenile delinquency. Juvenile delinquency is defined as young adults, people under eighteen, braking or violating the law (Websters). Family structure can affect juvenile delinquency in numerous ways. Family structure can include family support system, home environment, and family unity. The independent variable is family structure and the dependent variable is juvenile delinquency. Home environment plays a role in the production of juvenile delinquency. Kierkus and Hewitt (2009) in The Contextual Nature of the Family Structure/Delinquency relationship discussed how family structure is an important factor in delinquency but there might also be other factors that influence this type of behavior. The relationship between a nontraditional family structure and delinquency differs according to six distinct circumstances: age, gender, race, socioeconomic status (SES), family size, and place of residence (Kierkus and Hewitt, 2009). After analyzing these circumstances only age and family size affect more the family structure/delinquency relationship considering teens who suffered from parental attachment are older and come from larger families (Kierkus and Hewitt, 2009). Researchers before have focused on one or two issues dealing with family structure and delinquency (Kierkus and Hewitt, 2009). Studies have dealt with family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Characteristics Of Impactful Leadership In Jackson Vs.... 1. E. Bronson Ingram was known for his strong leadership in both the business world and through his philanthropic efforts. Describe which leadership characteristics you believe to be essential for creating greater opportunities at the intersection of entrepreneurship and high impact philanthropy. Andrew Carnegie once claimed that No man becomes rich unless he enriches others. Carnegie, alongside other captains of industry, such as Cornelius Vanderbilt, pioneered the pairing of entrepreneurship and philanthropy, through inspiring leadership. He witnessed the poverty and destitution of the time and led both the business and philanthropic communities, alike, in the effort to better society. He was an entrepreneurial and philanthropic leader due to his commitment to his vision and his continual recognition of the potential he had to thwart society s injustice and misdeeds. Consequently, with an undying commitment to one s endeavors, as well as constant recognition of what one can do in order to combat the wrongs of the world, true, impactful leadership can form at the intersection of philanthropy and entrepreneurship. Without commitment, no vision can come to fruition. Great tasks require great dedication. Especially when balancing both entrepreneurship and philanthropy, commitment is integral to every endeavor. For example, without Steve Job s commitment to becoming a revolutionary innovator, the devices we hold in our hands everyday would be nonexistent, as would be his charitable and humanitarian efforts. However, with ardent fervor he thrived in entrepreneurship, founding the world s most well known tech company, and, subsequently, philanthropy, donating many of the funds that he raised to noble causes. Dedication was his key to success, putting his whole heart in every task that he undertook. Thus, in order to maximize the opportunities at the crossroads of philanthropy and entrepreneurship, this undying pursuance is necessary for successful leaders. Furthermore, recognition of one s abilities to affect positive change is intrinsic to leading any mission. The ability to perceive, beyond oneself, is the key to locating and targeting a problem with success. For entrepreneurship and philanthropy to thrive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is challenged to find the true meaning of exploring outside of an ordinary world which leads her to question her own identity. Many times throughout the novel, Alice adventures revolve around food and drinks such as sweet baked snacks, potions and tea to appease her curiosity. Alice begins to lose control of her eating and drinking habits of Wonderland which demonstrates her maturity as she looks towards adulthood in the reality world. The more food and drinks Alice applies to herself, Carroll establishes the metaphor of growing up results in unpredictable events and changes that are irreversible. Alice stumbles across the Cheshire Cat who portrays the opposite of growing up as he believes taking short cuts are better than asking for advice. The Chesire cat exclaims to Alice, Then it doesn t matter which way you go (Carroll 49). The metaphor from the Cheshire Cat resulted from Alice asking about visiting the Mad Hatter. The next day was the moment Jazmin and I have been waiting for, we were going to invest all of our money on a dog. During the long car drive, that felt like years, Hi, are you Jazmin. he said. • 17. Social Policies And Welfare And Social Issues Social policies are public policies of which the government uses for welfare and social issues. Welfare, according to American Politics Today, is the financial or other assistance provided to individuals by the government, usually based on need (Bianco 448). These welfare programs play a role in citizen s lives, especially those of low income. However, in some instances, they are there to help the wealthy as well, such as bailouts of the financial sector. As the textbook reads, the persistence of poverty remains the primary motivator for most social policy today (Bianco 450). The rapid growth of social policy is proving that the rate of income inequality in the United States is growing at a steady pace. For example, the income distribution from 1979 to 2009 the average income of the top 1 percent grew by $700,000 to $1,220,100 (a 133 percent gain), compared to a $2,600 gain to $18,900 (16 percent) for the bottom fifth of the income levels. The wealth gap is even greater: the median networth of U.S. households in 2007 was $120,300, but the median wealth for the top 10 percent was $1.89 million, and this group held 73 percent of that nation s wealth (Bianco 450). The economy in America has an unequal wealth distribution where a small percentage of the population posses most of the wealth in the country, while the rest of the country has little to spare. This leads to poverty and income inequality. To measure income equality economists often measure how much income ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of these drawbacks are listed below: No room to assess the innovation of a new product Subjective nature of scales to assess QALY (EQ 5D), No assessment of burden of illness No assessment of negative impact on society No assessment of wider societal benefit Proposal to Modify the current approach A proposal for NICE to modify their current approach is vital in order to improve the process. One key thing would be to assess the degree of innovation of the new product/device/medicine. Let s review first what innovation means and what can be the process improvement. • 19. Crime Analysis Enhances Criminal Investigations Even though there has been fluctuation in particular crime categories, overall crime in general has decreased in Australia in recent years (Dearden Bricknell: 2008). It is due to this fluctuation in particular crimes that the media continues to play a role in misrepresenting crime rates, creating community fear and concerns regarding crime in this country (Kidd Hewitt: 2002). The flow on effect is that it creates extra pressure on law enforcement agencies to try and bring crime under control. Law enforcement agencies turn to criminal investigators who are the ones that analyse crime information and provide guidance and advice to them. As with technology advancing, so is the face of crimes, with crimes becoming more sophisticated, organised and global (Laycock: 2008). With these advances in technology it creates more opportunities for offenders to commit crimes. It is the goal of criminal investigators to reduce or eliminate these opportunities and thus reducing crime. Just like offenders who take the opportunities to commit crime, criminal investigators take the opportunity to use and apply their new knowledge to their working practices. Research suggests that traditional policing methods (reactive, incident driven approach) are ineffective. If traditional policing methods are ineffective, then investigators have to look for an alternative to effectively deal with crime without using excessive imprisonment. Whilst in the past criminal investigators have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Emotions In A Tale Of Two Cities Duff Brenna states, All literature shows us the power of emotion. It is emotion, not reason, that motivates characters in literature. In other words, feelings are what essentially drives a character and influences their actions. This statement is evident in the novel, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, through the feelings and actions of Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay, whom clearly depict this idea. In the novel, A Tale of Two Cities, one of the major characters who supports the conception of feelings influencing one s actions was shown by Sydney Carton. Sydney was generally an unhappy, unconfident and a fairly depressed individual who felt like he didn t have a purpose in the world. One of his actions that was a reflection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Darnay was a upright, honest and kind hearted individual who got stuck in numerous situations, that he didn t necessarily take part in. A reflection of his feelings of graciousness was when he was willing to return to Paris just to save Gabelle. Despite all of the trouble and inconveniences he would have to encounter, he was still willing to go and help Gabelle. Another action that reflected Darnay s honest emotions was when he told Dr. Manette who he really was, an Evermonde. No matter how terrible his family name was and how ashamed he felt, he came through with his true identity. Leading me to my third example, another depiction of Darnay s upright feelings was when avoided affiliation with France and the Evremondes barbarous ways and previous conflicts by leaving France to go to England because he disliked the French aristocracy and the Evermonde name so strongly, and simply detested affiliation with such a cruel family and lifestyle, because he was not that type of person. Undoubtedly, Charles Darnay frequently had his actions affected by his different feelings and emotions throughout the entire novel. • 23. Perk Of Being A Wallflower, And The Perks Of Being A... To the average American teenager, high school may have seemed like a real life nightmare. So why is it that so many movies today revolve around this hellish concept? According to David Denby, the author of High School Confidential: Notes on Teen Movies , there is a whole genre of these teen films. As explained by Denby, such genre films include stereotypical male and female villains of the social queen or jock type, mixed up emotions and teens rising above the poisonous system of status, snobbery and exclusion that is commonly known as high school (Denby 367). By this definition, the film The Perks of Being a Wallflower can be categorized as a teen film. Based on the book published in 1999, The Perks of Being a Wallflower follows Charlie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, for the majority or teens, there is a considerable amount of teen angst that comes from this emotional growth. When depicted in movies, Denby explains that these films arise from remembered hurts which then get recast in symbolic form. (Denby 369). In Denby s example, the main character may have suffered from the death of a parent and thus is ill equipped for the emotional pressures of school. (Denby 369). This can be seen to be incredibly true for the main character of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Through out the film, there are memories brought up from Charlie s past about his best friend s suicide, his Aunt s Death, and his past sexual abuse. For example, when Sam kisses Charlie and rubs his leg, Charlie gets flashbacks of a similar situation in which his adult Aunt sexually abuses him. Due to his past, Charlie is depicted as unable to cope with the problems he faces, through his actions over the course of the film. Charlie takes a passive role in his life. For example, when his sister is abused by her boyfriend, Charlie does not step in. He also doesn t speak up when Mary Elizabeth declares that she and Charlie are dating, though he clearly doesn t have any interest in her. From the audience s point of view, it is known that his passive actions are a result of his emotional problems. • 24. Comparison Of Waiting For Icarus And Muse Des Beaux Arts The two poems Waiting for Icarus and Musée des Beaux Arts are narrative poems. Musée des Beaux Arts is a poem written by W. H. Auden and published in 1938. Waiting for Icarus is a poem written by Muriel Rukeyser and published in 1973. The poem Musée des Beaux Arts is about how no one truly cares when a tragedy is taking place, unless said tragedy concerns them directly. The poem Waiting for Icarus tells the story about a woman who is reminiscing being abandoned by her lover while waiting for him at the beach. The two poems have a great deal of similarities and differences between them. Despite the fact that Musée des Beaux Arts uses an indifferent tone and irregular rhyme scheme and Waiting for Icarus uses a melancholic tone and no discernible rhyme scheme, both poems use the themes of abandonment and suffering and the myth of Icarus in order to convey to their readers how people deal with pain and misery. Auden touches upon many topics in his poem Musée des Beaux Arts. The Encyclopedia of American Poetry: The Twentieth Century writes that, the poem condemns people s habitual inattention to the miseries of others (Mao). In other words, one of the primary focuses in Musée des Beaux Arts is that of apathy. Auden begins his poem by writing, About suffering they were never wrong, / The old Masters: how well they understood / Its human position: how it takes place (lns. 1 3). Here, Auden is setting up another one of the poem s main topics, which is human suffering. Auden is writing about how the old Masters knew how to capture the image of human suffering within the confines of their canvases (ln. 2). Auden then writes, While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking dully along; / How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting / For the miraculous birth (lns. 4 6). In these lines Auden is telling his readers that ordinary life will always go on by stating that the old patiently await the arrival of newborn babies, which is a reference to the circle of life. He continues this idea in the next few lines when he writes, there always must be / Children who did not specially want it to happen, skating / On a pond at the edge of the wood (lns. 6 8). Ranbaxy Laboratories began as a family business in the 1960 s, but with strong entrepreneurial skills the company grew to become one of the largest manufacturers for bulk drugs and generic drugs. They were to be obedient, and not break any rules. In the third and final encounter, at the end of the play, it appears Jason has reached his peripeteia, his downfall. Medea, at this point, has killed their two sons and it is clear he loses complete control of his emotions, and he begins wildly insulting Medea, calling her an abomination . It is also earlier in this part that he calls her the woman I will kill. at the beginning of the play, he was supposedly in love with her, whilst at the end, he wants nothing more than her to be dead. • 29. The Four Major Approaches Of Sociocultural Evolution Society refers to people who interact in a defined territory and share culture (Macionis,2012,p.108). They are four major approaches that display ways in which societies have changed over the past 10,000 years. The first approach was made by Gerhard Lenski who talked about society in relation to changes concerning technology. Lenski uses the term sociocultural evolution to describe such changes. Sociocultural evolution is changes that occur as a society gains very new technology (Macionis,2012,p.88). In the earliest years, societies lived by hunting and gathering. People made tools to hunt and gather food. Such societies were very petite so it was easy for them to migrate whenever food was limited. Hunters and gathers spend most of their time hunting and collecting food for them to satisfy their hunger. They depend on each other to get their duties done. Women were responsible for vegetation and men went out to hunt. The young children and elderly help out whenever they could. In most hunting and gathering societies there is a leader who basically takes control but still has to go out and hunt for food. The basic weapons used by such societies were spears, bow and arrows and stone knives. These communities were not really prone to much danger the thing they feared the most was droughts and storms. Gathering and hunting societies began to decrease as societies became more developed. Along the way, societies developed horticulture, which is the use of hand tools to ...
