Life Without Bill Gates Essay
As the the inventor of the first computer, William H. Gates Jr. or his nickname, Bill Gates has
impacted the world so greatly that his invention will affect the world for the rest of eternity. Imagine
what life would be like without the computer. People at home would have to write documents by hand
instead typing their documents on google docs. Kids would have to play outside everyday, without TV
or video games. Also, social media wouldn t be available, so people can t text or facetime each other,
but can only call on a old fashioned phone. Last, without computers, technological advancement
wouldn t be possible because most robots need a computer in their brain. As you can see, without Bill
Gates, life would be so boring and complex.
William Henry Gates Jr. was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He has an older sister
named Kristianne and a younger sister named Libby. His father William H. Gates Sr., was a lawyer
and his mother, Mary Maxwell was a part time teacher. As a child, Bill had a good relationship with
his mother. He would always do science experiments with her. Bill also played games with his sister
and read a whole lot. The 3 siblings were so competitive in everything, especially in reading that the
parents had to ban books from the dinner table so the siblings would talk more! The result of reading
too much was being too smart, so Bill would sometimes sleep and daydream in class. His life would
suddenly change when he was enrolled to

The Persuasiveness of the Captivity Narrative
As the most influential black American author of his time, in The Interesting Narrative of the Life of
Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavas Vassa, the African, Written by Himself, Olaudah Equiano illuminated
for the masses many of the inhumanities and atrocities associated with the slave trade that previously
had been known only to those more intimately involved with it and began an entire new genre known
as the slave narrative. Part of the success of Equiano s narrative must be ascribed to the familiar
themes of capture, captivity, and restoration that he experienced and many had read in one of the many
captivity narratives that were so popular in early Colonial times. One such captivity narrative that has
many similarities to Equiano s slave ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Equiano s narrative, slaves were a faceless mass with no individuality or humanity to speak of.
His slave narrative put an individual, educated, Christian face to the ongoing brutality.
Although both Rowlandson and Equiano s narratives were the first and most influential narratives at
the time they were written, the differences between the two are much more significant than their
similarities. The most noticeable difference between the two narratives is the portrayal of the captors.
While Rowlandson demonized her captors and dwelled on every slight that she received, and even
though Equiano received much worse from some of the white men that he encountered, he often wrote
of his admiration for them, their education, and the friendship that was bestowed upon him. Equiano
even wrote of one boy who was particularly nice to him, I regarded [him] ... as ... my friend, whom I
loved, and grieved for, as a brother (691). The differences in this portrayal can be directly ascribed to
the different purposes with which the narratives were written. Rowlandson demonized the Indians
partly because she was writing to the Colonialists in an attempt to strengthen the Colonialists hatred of
the Native Americans. In this case it would not have been logical to write of their virtues. Equiano,
however, was trying to get his captors to sympathize with his cause. While it was

The Value Of Evaluate Ability Defined By Fornell And...
In discriminant validity methodology proposed by Fornell and Larcker (1981) shows that the value of
square root of AVE should exceed the construct correlations with all other constructs (Table 3). To
measure the internal consistency of the constructs, the values of composite reliability (CR) (Werts et
al., 1974; Raykov, 1997) and Cronbach s alpha is carried out, supposed to be under estimate scale
reliability with the recommended threshold criterion of .70 for both (Nunnally, 1978). The resulted
value of composite reliability lies in between the.81 . 95 and for Cronbach s alpha, the values lie in
between.67 and.97 (Table 2). All these values are computed from a confirmatory factor analysis using

Therefore, the hypotheses H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, and H8 were accepted. Whereas, the resulted value for
perceived environmental behaviour (β= .022; t value= .352; p=.470) and perceived environmental
problem (β= −.011; t value= .704; p=.399) shows negative and insignificant effect on customer
willingness to adoption. Therefore, the hypotheses H6 and H7 were rejected.
5. Discussion and conclusion
This research provides some valuable insight on relationship between environmental aspect and
willingness of consumers to adopt the solar lighting system. The result of the study shows the
differential effect of environment on willingness of adoption of solar lighting system which confirms
the previous studies. A common tendency among rural consumer is to collect the information
regarding a product from friends relative and their neighbours. They rely on their opinion before

adaptation of the solar energy. Another reason for the investment in solar lighting system is symbolic

Smoking Cessation in New Zealand
TITLE: SMOKING CESSATION IN NEW ZEALAND
RATIONALE AND AIM
The aim of my proposal is to give valuable information about smoking and smoking cessation in a
presentation that could be helpful to teenagers and pregnant women who want to quit smoking. The
presentation will use simple pictures and language to make it easy for everybody to learn about the
harmful impact of smoking on health. Along with this, there are three key goals of tobacco control
exercises: To lessen the use of smoking, to discontinue smoking, diminishing introduction to a second
hand smoker. In this presentation I will discuss different strategies that are identified to stop smoking,
for example, strategies to stop routine use of smoking in New Zealand, the viability of these strategies,
health related dangers of smoking, the benefits of stopping smoking.
I have chosen this subject because of the fact that it will give helpful information might be to those
individuals who need to stop smoking such as teenagers and pregnant ladies who have a higher risk
from health related issues, moreover passive smokers will additionally get benefit from these methods
and can enable themselves to keep smoke free.
BENEFITS: The main benefit is to the public, such as pregnant women and teenagers, and future
generations. It will help people to improve their financial situation if they quit smoking. Additionally,
it will helpful to pregnant mothers who are not aware about the health related risks and the severity of

Manufacture of Hairspray and Dimethyl Ethle Production Essay
Executive Summary.
Aerosol hairspray cans are a cosmetic product used by 86% of women in the United States.(3) The
consumer demand for hair products has stayed relatively steady since the invention of hairspray.
Industrial suppliers can increase their net profit of aerosol hairspray production by analyzing and
possibly optimizing their manufacturing process, mores specifically, the production of the most widely
used aerosol propellant, dimethyl ether (DME). The optimization of a thermally coupled DME reactor
(OTCDR) proves to be economical, energy sufficient, and increase the net profit of the industrial
plant. It is in the best interest of industrial aerosol hairspray manufacturers to consider multiple

Hydrofluorcarbons (HFC s) are a new class of recently developed propellants, they share many of the
same properties as CFC s but are less polluting. Several popular HFC s include 1,1 difluoroethane and
1,1,1,2, tetrafluoromethane. These propellants are relatively expensive but formulate fast drying.
Currently the most commonly used propellant is dimethyl ether (DME).
DME has been receiving a growing attention all over the world in recent years, the study on the
synthesis of DME is the process of most interest in regards to the production of hairspray. The
production of hairspray is shown in Figure 1. Several methods of dimethyl ether are discussed.
Optimization of a DME production process is discussed and analyzed. The process of DME
production is discussed because of the promising energy consumption and economical value.
Dimethyl Ether
Dimethyl Ether is the most widely used propellant in aerosol cans in the United States (85%). Based
on DuPont knowledge, national production of DME is 15 to 20 million kilograms in the United States.
This production is distributed across the following primary uses: industrial feedstock for the product
of other chemical substances (31%), hairsprays (48%), spray paints (6%), insect repellents/insecticides
(6%), adhesives (5%), household cleaners (1%), dusters (1%), tire inflators

5. Evaluation
Accuracy of results
There is always some degree of inaccuracy in any experiment. I think that there were several factors in
my experiment that made the results slightly inaccurate. These were;
#61623; The time taken to place the bung on the flask – This let out a small amount of carbon dioxide
into the atmosphere instead of the gas syringe.
#61623; Weighing and measuring inaccuracy s – The weighing of the marble chips will always be
slightly inaccurate due to the scales inaccuracy. This is the same with the measuring of acid.
#61623; The size of the marble chips – The size of the marble chips was not always the same, some
were larger or smaller than others. This would have made for a slight inaccuracy.
Reliability
No significant problems or difficulties were encountered when carrying out this experiment. The
accuracy and reliability of the results and conclusions are very good. Even though I have outlined the
inaccuracy s of the experiment, these are only t be expected and do not have much impact on the
overall conclusion.
Improvements
The procedure used was simple and straightforward and not many difficulties were encountered. One
difficulty was that the gas syringe was subject to humidity which made the syringe move not as
smoothly as it would have otherwise. A small improvement could be

Plot Of Antigone Plot
Plot Summary: The story takes place in Victorian Era London. Creon is a rich earl who is feared by
many. His nephews, Eteocles and Polyneices, engaged in a duel over who would be viable to inherit
his fortune (which belonged to their father before Creon). Both were killed. Because Polyneices
started the conflict, Creon decided that he was disgraced and ordered that he be given no funeral or
proper burial. But one of Polyneices s sisters, Antigone, decided that Creon s ruling was unfair and
went behind his back to try and organise a funeral for him.
Act Summary: The undertaker at the local funeral parlor met Antigone when she arrived, trying to
organize a funeral for her disgraced brother. Knowing that Creon had notified every funeral parlor in
the area that Polyneices was to be denied a funeral, he brought Antigone to Creon s estate, where the
two get into an argument.
[CREON stands with his arms crossed, clearly upset with ANTIGONE, who stares ahead forlornly.
Her lavish dress is dirty, as if she had struggled to avoid capture. The UNDERTAKER still holds her
arm tightly.]
CREON
Have you really disobeyed me?
ANTIGONE [eyes downcast, avoiding her uncle]
Well, I see no point in denying it.
CREON [sighs]
Thank you for catching her, undertaker. You may leave now.
[The UNDERTAKER nods and exits the house.]
Antigone, were you fully aware that I had forbade a funeral for your embarrassment of a brother?

Mobile Development And The Mobile Industry
The latter half of the past decade has seen new mobile development platforms emerge and become a
daily part of the average citizen s life. When Apple Inc. introduced the iPhone (one of the first to use a
multi touch interface), the mobile industry experienced a powerful spark. With the creation of the
smartphone came the first, true application, or app , ecosystem. The wide variety of mobile apps
available provide quick and easy access to services such as news and entertainment to health and
fitness. This event quickly restructured the value of certain mobile services and shifted attention to the
seemingly lucrative new economy of app development. Abandoned were the traditional pillars of the
mobile economy (SMS, telco services, mobile handsets?). These were nearly entirely replaced by the
focus towards the mobile app economy. Impressively, this new economy has the largest group of
developers (mostly entrepreneurs) to ever enter a technology industry. Despite the rapid growth and
the wide variety of economic and consumer related experiments being tested to expand the industry, it
is still in an early stage. With the ever increasing number of downloaded apps, entrepreneurs blindly
jump on the App Store bandwagon (or more than 30 other new app stores that have launched).
Currently, that may not be the wisest decision. The App Store hysteria is beginning to turn into a tech
bubble in which most developers will not ever be able to recover their costs. Experts are

Deucalion Compare And Contrast
Favour Owolabi Mrs. Henderson Honors World Lit. February 3, 2015 Mankind s Death and Rebirth
Being an honorable person is an important attribute to many people. Noah and Deucalion were two
highly honorable men. These men and their families were the only two men out of thousands to
survive a fate that changed mankind forever. Noah was a man from Babylon who feared God and
found favor in His sight. Deucalion was a man from Greece who pleased the gods and was able to stay
pure in his heart. Both men had many similar attributes and purposes for life, but each had differences
that made their stories unique. A commonality in both stories is that mankind harbored evil in their
hearts and had no regard for God/Zeus provoking their wraths. According to the Grecian flood story,
men became unbearably wicked and no longer lived at peace with each other. They were always at
war with each other having no law or safety in the land. In the Bible, God saw how evil men were and
how there was nothing but immorality in mans heart. The depravity and iniquity of man are what led
to God and Zeus s wrath. Men became lawless, it was as if every man was for themselves. This
corruption is what made God and Zeus to become weary and to regret ever creating man. But as the

with the amounting competition, so they went out of the retail business by the mid 1980 s, and later

Woman At Point Zero and The Metamorphosis
Thesis Statement: The absence of mother in the protagonist s life in Woman At Point Zero and The
Metamorphosis contributes greatly to their alienation.
All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my Mother Abraham Lincoln. 1 Alienation: a withdrawing or
separation of a person, or a person s affections from an object or position of former attachment4.
Alienation is a key theme present in Woman at Point Zero2 and The Metamorphosis3 by Nawaal El
Saadawi and Franz Kafka respectively which is approached in different ways. With the use of diction,
imagery, contrast and symbolism, this is greatly seen through the unusual bonds that Firdaus and
Gregor share with their mothers throughout their lives.

In addition, when Gregor finally shows himself to the clerk and his family, she looked first with hands
clasped at his father, then took two steps toward Gregor and sank to the floor.. (87) The imagery used
here conveys the hostile and distant treatment Gregor receives from his family. The connotation of the
phrase sank to the floor is that of an emotional rejection and portrays how Mrs. Samsa tries to run
away from her son s reality. Through the contrast and imagery it is seen that Gregor is no longer
associated with his mother, who is firm on isolating herself from him. This denial affects Gregor
directly which explains why he underwent an alienation process.
Despite the fact that Gregor s mother could not bear to physically interact with him, she has hopes of
her son s comeback. When Grete suggests that the furniture be removed from his room, she think[s]
the best thing would be if we tried to keep his room exactly as it was before, so that when he returns,
he ll find everything unchanged, and he can forget what s happened (103). The connotation of the
words unchanged , returns and forget what s happened , suggests how she is under the delusion that
Gregor will come back. She does not readily want to accept the fact that anything had happened to her
dear son. She was, after all, his mother. In comparison to Firdaus it can certainly be seen that he

Gender Norms In The Media
Media is defined as any form of communication; however, the term is mainly used for television,
radio, and the Internet. Regardless of the form it takes, media holds the power to construct and reflect
our own sense of identity, in both affirmative and detrimental ways (199). In American society, the
media makes many assumptions based on gender, race, and religion that directly affects how people in
a society view each other. Media creates many assumptions on the female gender that generates
people s views on femininity.

One religion that contains bias from the media is the Amish. Amish settlements have become a cliché
for refusing technology. Tens of thousands of people wear identical, plain, homemade clothing,
cultivate their rich fields with horse drawn machinery, and live in houses lacking that basic modern
spirt called electricity (Rheingold 221). The media takes a very sophisticated belief into an assumption
that suggests that Amish do not use technology at all. Another religion that contains bias from the
media is Islam. According to the media, Islam is a religion associated with terrorism. This media
assumption is based on the, emergence of the self proclaimed Islamic State group (ISIS) which
allegedly shows videos of the beheadings of their prisoners who are most often journalists (Espiritu).
This has caused people to use the terms Muslim and Terrorist interchangeably. Not all Muslims who
associate with Islam are terrorists. For example, Malala Yousafzai, a Muslim, is the youngest Nobel
Peace Prize winner and an education activist. Media also makes assumptions on the religion for Jews,
Judaism. Jews are often interpreted as incredibly prosperous, cheap, and unkind. In truth, Jewish
people can be wealthy or poor, intelligent or less intelligent, kind or otherwise (Media Portrayals of

Why Psychopaths Are Serial Killers
Imagine being free of the mental chains called a conscience. Unpleasant feelings such as guilt or
regret would no longer be able to be felt. Theoretically, this would sound preferable, but in actuality a
conscience is what makes us truly human, and without it we would not have any compassion or
empathy for others. This is why conscienceless people, psychopaths, are such a threat to society; they
care only for themselves and will not hesitate to harm anyone if it means they achieve a certain goal. It
is a proven fact that, much like how all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares, all
serial killers are psychopaths but not all psychopaths are serial killers. Therefore, I decided that the

Serial killers unavailability of remorse or guilt is linked with their lack of a conscience that gives them
the remarkable ability to rationalize their behavior and to shrug off personal responsibility for actions
that cause shock and disappointment to family, friends, or associates (42). Due to the absence of that
little voice present in most people s minds, serial killers are like robots in view of the fact that they are
unemotional and indifferent about the lives of others. They can, and do, ruthlessly slay people just as
easily and with no feeling as I can crunch an irritating bug beneath my shoe. Nevertheless, we must
one day prevail in discovering a way to tame these so far untransformable, merciless psychopaths so
society can better function without the disruption of occasional unchecked

Diabetes effects all body systems not just the endocrine. All three types can effect and cause damage
to the neurological, renal, and circulatory systems.
There are different treatment options for Type 1 and 2 diabetes that include oral medications, insulin
injections, and insulin pumps(Diabetes and Kidney Disease). Oral medications are the most
commonly used because of their ease of use and usually lowers the hemoglobin A1C effectively but
can at times cause hypoglycemia (glucose levels falling below normal range of values). Oral
medications are also mostly used for Type 2. Insulin is the method of choice in type 1 diabetes
treatment plans. Insulin injections help reproduce the secretions of the pancreas. There are two types
of insulin that is used, long acting and short acting. These help to better manage a person depending
on meal consumption, caloric intake, and carbohydrate intake. Another way to manage type 1 is by an
insulin pump. An insulin pump delivers continuous subcutaneous infusion of insulin (Lemur and
Batuman 210). Only 1 insulin is used in a pump, fasting acting. Also a pump can be programmed to
release different amounts of insulin depending on the time of day to better manage glucose levels
without multiple injections daily.

The Research Process The research process starts with locating the starting point by gathering
numerous questions that need to be answered and identify the issues with the questions. These
questions are just the start of your research, many different questions and issues will come along as
you progress into the research. Research questions will be gradually refined to their final states and the

Middle Texas Is Full Of Some Of The Most Impressive Water
Middle Texas is full of some of the most impressive water garden nurseries and landscapers that you
can imagine. Some complete enormous commercial contracts and are capable of literally creating
wonderlands in landscaping. Evidently, the water gardening phenomena has really caught on here, as
in some other parts of the country since there are more and more nurseries and landscapers expanding
to fill that niche. The few I found in the area were very impressive nurseries. 11640 Westview Odessa,

Suicide By Emile Durkheim
In a classic sociological study, Durkheim (1966) identifies four types of suicide: altruistic and
fatalistic suicides which he associates with pre modern, traditional community and anomic and
egoistic suicides characteristic of modern society. (Kuhling, 2004) The ideas of sociologist, Emile
Durkheim have undoubtedly helped my understanding of suicide of contemporary society. Durkheim
has aided me in understanding the complexity of this topical issue and made me more aware of the
roots of suicide. Altruistic suicide is committed for the benefit of others. This is whereby a certain
individual feels obliged to commit suicide for the good of a group. An example is someone who
commits suicide for the good of a religious or political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Crossman, 2017) Anomie refers to alienation caused by erosion of standards and values which
includes people in transitions such as adolescents. Durkheim s theory based on anomie has greatly
enhanced my understanding of suicide among adolescents today. Many teenagers today suffer pain
and according to him/her they have no reason to endure life s sufferings patiently (Durkheim, 1951)
and therefore revert to suicide as the easiest way out. Adolescence may be an unsettling time and may
be a major challenge for many in contemporary society. Therefore, suicide amongst adolescents has
risen dramatically in recent years for many a reason; depression, peer pressure, stress, etc. These
struggles can be academically, socially or family orientated. We, adolescents fear rejection and
annihilation and are not always able to deal with these fears in an effective nor an efficient manner.
Therefore, suicide is often a common answer for many. Recent surveys indicate that as many as 1 out
of 5 teenagers suffer clinical depression and according to suicide.org depression is the third leading
cause of death among 15 24 year olds today. In conclusion, sociologist Durkheim, has greatly helped
my understanding of suicide of contemporary society. Suicide is very much a complex and difficult
issue to understand, however from the study of Durkheim s theory, it can be concluded that we are to

Troy Davis Case Study
The most recent case that I have researched it the Troy Davis case. In this case Troy Davis was
accused of killing Officer Mark Allen MacPhail. It all began around midnight on Friday, August 18,
1989, a teenager named Michael Cooper was shot in the jaw as he and his friends were driving away
from a pool party they attended in Cloverdale area of Savannah, Georgia. Approximately, an hour later
in the early morning of Saturday, August 19, 1989, there was a group of young men that were at a pool
hall by the name of Charlie Brown s pool hall. Charlie Brown s was located across the street from
Greyhound bus station and Burger King Restaurant. A homeless man named Larry Young went into
the convenience store next to the pool hall to purchase a beer. When he exited with his beer in his
hand he was greeted by Sylvester Redd Coles who was wearing a yellow ... Show more content on

was pistol whipped on his temple. While bleeding extremely badly he began to yell for help. He
started banging on the hood of a van filled with Air Service personnel at the Burger King drive thru
(Marlowe, Davis Correia and Davis, 2013). At that time Police officer Mark Allen MacPhail, working
as an office duty security for the area, came running around the corner of the bus station to assist the
injured civilian, Larry Young. Officer MacPhail was shot once, and fell. While he was down he was

Compare And Contrast Steamboat And Telegraph
Steamboat and Telegraph
The following presentation encompases two major historical milestones in the development of
american engineering and ingenuity. The first being the development of the steam engine and the
second the invention of the telegraph.
It s the 1800s and industrialization is thriving throughout America. People are moving away from an
agricultural way of life, moving into cities, developing arts and trades and trying to expand their
boundaries of who, where and how they can trade marketable items. In trying to reach more and more
customers at further and further distances the ability to travel further in less time creates a demand. In
this time period most of the trade routes revolved around rivers as this was the easiest method of
transportation and the mighty Mississippi being the largest trade route. However, the problem with
traveling the Mississippi or any riverway at this time is that you are at the mercy of the wind and
currents. At this time you travelled by boat with full sail and could not maneuver against tides or a
poor wind. There was a need to create something that could deal with this dilemma. More and more
inventions and machines are being created. With these inventions it becomes effortless to complete
painstaking tasks. The effect of this is tade becoming more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the 1800s information would take weeks if not months to be sent and delivered in order to gain

vital governmental information. Samuel Morse a graduate of Yale University is credited with the

Manufacturing Industry Of Chicago And Its Future
Until 19th century, in an industry, almost all the projects were handled by engineers themselves.
Halfway through the 20th century, project management evolved as a discipline in the field of
engineering, construction, manufacturing and defense. As industrial evolution took place complexity
of the projects undertaken by industry increased and organizations began applying management tools
and techniques to plan these complex projects. Nowadays, from past 30 40 years, project management
has been integral part of almost every industry. Be it a pharmaceutical, IT, healthcare or government
agency; project management thrives in it. Hence surely, it has changed the face of industrial project in
terms of planning, organizing and controlling the resources to achieve the desired goals. And it will
continue to do so in future. The article supports the claim that industrial project management has
changed over the years and will evolve more and more in the future also.
The Chicago Tribune article considers manufacturing industry of Chicago and its future in today s
world of globalization. By nature, manufacturing is heavily attached to process. Each process is
followed by another and product is built cumulatively at each step in sequential order and in quality
controlled environment. Project management is very effective in manufacturing industry because it is
also process based and various phases in project management affects product cycle in manufacturing
directly. The important

Assessment Of Shell s Corporate Social Responsibility
Topic: Assessment of shell s corporate social responsibility in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria
Executive Summary
Oil for over a decade has been the main source of income for the Nigerian economy. It accounts for
more than 70% of export. The Niger Delta region of Nigeria has been plagued with different negative
effects of oil exploration. The environment, economy and even quality of human life have been
greatly affected. This has created a lack of trust between the inhabitants and the oil companies, and
even with the Nigerian government.
Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) has been viewed in different ways by different school of
thoughts; some see it has a voluntary initiative, while others think it s a main part of every company s
structure and even an opportunity to improve brand. For this work, we would take the position of the
later argument. It is simply giving back to the environment that you gain from. It involves protection
of the environment, development of quality of the occupants of the environment and improving their
quality of life. Like Barnard (1938), it is analyzing the social, economic, moral, legal and physical
aspects of the environment.
This project seeks to objectively analyze the activities of oil companies in this region. Shell, a major
player in the oil industry of Nigeria received the spotlight. An extensive analysis of their CSR was
done. This was achieved by comparing with different standards; notably the ISO26000. A review of

Tertiary Structure
Task 2
a) The tertiary structure refers to the structural arrangement of amino acids that are found far away
from one another along the polypeptide chain. The tertiary structure is overall a three dimensional
shape of a protein molecule. It will bend and twist to achieve maximum stability. The shape of a
tertiary structure is made when the secondary structure folds in on itself and is held in place by many
bonds and interactions formed by the R groups in the amino acid chain. The bonds and interactions
involved are hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, hydrophobic interactions and disulphide bonds. These
bonds and interactions are located in different areas of the tertiary structure, the hydrogen bonds are
located inbetween polar R groups, ionic bonds are located between charged R groups, hydrophobic
interactions are located between nonpolar R groups and disulphide bonds are formed generally in the
endoplasmic reticulum by oxidation . Hydrogen bonds may form between different side
chain groups.
Hydrophobic interactions are brought about in an aqueous site. The tertiary structure is held together
mainly by interactions that are located at the R groups.
A protein with a tertiary structure could be a myoglobin protein. The myoglobin protein has a alpha
helix. Bonds between the side groups of the amino acid are responsible for holding together the
tertiary structure of myoglobin. The myoglobin is found in the ... Show more content on

peptide chains that have formed a working protein. It has more than 2 peptide chains and creates a
protein, thus making it a quaternary structure

  • 3. Life Without Bill Gates Essay As the the inventor of the first computer, William H. Gates Jr. or his nickname, Bill Gates has impacted the world so greatly that his invention will affect the world for the rest of eternity. Imagine what life would be like without the computer. People at home would have to write documents by hand instead typing their documents on google docs. Kids would have to play outside everyday, without TV or video games. Also, social media wouldn t be available, so people can t text or facetime each other, but can only call on a old fashioned phone. Last, without computers, technological advancement wouldn t be possible because most robots need a computer in their brain. As you can see, without Bill Gates, life would be so boring and complex. William Henry Gates Jr. was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He has an older sister named Kristianne and a younger sister named Libby. His father William H. Gates Sr., was a lawyer and his mother, Mary Maxwell was a part time teacher. As a child, Bill had a good relationship with his mother. He would always do science experiments with her. Bill also played games with his sister and read a whole lot. The 3 siblings were so competitive in everything, especially in reading that the parents had to ban books from the dinner table so the siblings would talk more! The result of reading too much was being too smart, so Bill would sometimes sleep and daydream in class. His life would suddenly change when he was enrolled to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Persuasiveness of the Captivity Narrative As the most influential black American author of his time, in The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavas Vassa, the African, Written by Himself, Olaudah Equiano illuminated for the masses many of the inhumanities and atrocities associated with the slave trade that previously had been known only to those more intimately involved with it and began an entire new genre known as the slave narrative. Part of the success of Equiano s narrative must be ascribed to the familiar themes of capture, captivity, and restoration that he experienced and many had read in one of the many captivity narratives that were so popular in early Colonial times. One such captivity narrative that has many similarities to Equiano s slave ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before Equiano s narrative, slaves were a faceless mass with no individuality or humanity to speak of. His slave narrative put an individual, educated, Christian face to the ongoing brutality. Although both Rowlandson and Equiano s narratives were the first and most influential narratives at the time they were written, the differences between the two are much more significant than their similarities. The most noticeable difference between the two narratives is the portrayal of the captors. While Rowlandson demonized her captors and dwelled on every slight that she received, and even though Equiano received much worse from some of the white men that he encountered, he often wrote of his admiration for them, their education, and the friendship that was bestowed upon him. Equiano even wrote of one boy who was particularly nice to him, I regarded [him] ... as ... my friend, whom I loved, and grieved for, as a brother (691). The differences in this portrayal can be directly ascribed to the different purposes with which the narratives were written. Rowlandson demonized the Indians partly because she was writing to the Colonialists in an attempt to strengthen the Colonialists hatred of the Native Americans. In this case it would not have been logical to write of their virtues. Equiano, however, was trying to get his captors to sympathize with his cause. While it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Mobile Development And The Mobile Industry The latter half of the past decade has seen new mobile development platforms emerge and become a daily part of the average citizen s life. When Apple Inc. introduced the iPhone (one of the first to use a multi touch interface), the mobile industry experienced a powerful spark. With the creation of the smartphone came the first, true application, or app , ecosystem. The wide variety of mobile apps available provide quick and easy access to services such as news and entertainment to health and fitness. This event quickly restructured the value of certain mobile services and shifted attention to the seemingly lucrative new economy of app development. Abandoned were the traditional pillars of the mobile economy (SMS, telco services, mobile handsets?). These were nearly entirely replaced by the focus towards the mobile app economy. Impressively, this new economy has the largest group of developers (mostly entrepreneurs) to ever enter a technology industry. Despite the rapid growth and the wide variety of economic and consumer related experiments being tested to expand the industry, it is still in an early stage. With the ever increasing number of downloaded apps, entrepreneurs blindly jump on the App Store bandwagon (or more than 30 other new app stores that have launched). Currently, that may not be the wisest decision. The App Store hysteria is beginning to turn into a tech bubble in which most developers will not ever be able to recover their costs. Experts are ... Noah and Deucalion were two highly honorable men. These men and their families were the only two men out of thousands to survive a fate that changed mankind forever. Noah was a man from Babylon who feared God and found favor in His sight. Deucalion was a man from Greece who pleased the gods and was able to stay pure in his heart. Both men had many similar attributes and purposes for life, but each had differences that made their stories unique. A commonality in both stories is that mankind harbored evil in their hearts and had no regard for God/Zeus provoking their wraths. According to the Grecian flood story, men became unbearably wicked and no longer lived at peace with each other. They were always at war with each other having no law or safety in the land. In the Bible, God saw how evil men were and how there was nothing but immorality in mans heart. The depravity and iniquity of man are what led to God and Zeus s wrath. Men became lawless, it was as if every man was for themselves. This corruption is what made God and Zeus to become weary and to regret ever creating man. Alienation is a key theme present in Woman at Point Zero2 and The Metamorphosis3 by Nawaal El Saadawi and Franz Kafka respectively which is approached in different ways. In addition, when Gregor finally shows himself to the clerk and his family, she looked first with hands clasped at his father, then took two steps toward Gregor and sank to the floor.. The connotation of the phrase sank to the floor is that of an emotional rejection and portrays how Mrs. Samsa tries to run away from her son s reality. Through the contrast and imagery it is seen that Gregor is no longer associated with his mother, who is firm on isolating herself from him. This denial affects Gregor directly which explains why he underwent an alienation process. Despite the fact that Gregor s mother could not bear to physically interact with him, she has hopes of her son s comeback. When Grete suggests that the furniture be removed from his room, she think[s] the best thing would be if we tried to keep his room exactly as it was before, so that when he returns, he ll find everything unchanged, and he can forget what s happened (103). In American society, the media makes many assumptions based on gender, race, and religion that directly affects how people in a society view each other. One religion that contains bias from the media is the Amish. Amish settlements have become a cliché for refusing technology. Tens of thousands of people wear identical, plain, homemade clothing, cultivate their rich fields with horse drawn machinery, and live in houses lacking that basic modern spirt called electricity (Rheingold 221). The media takes a very sophisticated belief into an assumption that suggests that Amish do not use technology at all. Another religion that contains bias from the media is Islam. According to the media, Islam is a religion associated with terrorism. This media assumption is based on the, emergence of the self proclaimed Islamic State group (ISIS) which allegedly shows videos of the beheadings of their prisoners who are most often journalists (Espiritu). This has caused people to use the terms Muslim and Terrorist interchangeably. Not all Muslims who associate with Islam are terrorists. For example, Malala Yousafzai, a Muslim, is the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner and an education activist. Media also makes assumptions on the religion for Jews, Judaism. Jews are often interpreted as incredibly prosperous, cheap, and unkind. • 19. Why Psychopaths Are Serial Killers Imagine being free of the mental chains called a conscience. Unpleasant feelings such as guilt or regret would no longer be able to be felt. Theoretically, this would sound preferable, but in actuality a conscience is what makes us truly human, and without it we would not have any compassion or empathy for others. This is why conscienceless people, psychopaths, are such a threat to society; they care only for themselves and will not hesitate to harm anyone if it means they achieve a certain goal. Oral medications are the most commonly used because of their ease of use and usually lowers the hemoglobin A1C effectively but can at times cause hypoglycemia (glucose levels falling below normal range of values). Oral medications are also mostly used for Type 2. Insulin is the method of choice in type 1 diabetes treatment plans. Insulin injections help reproduce the secretions of the pancreas. There are two types of insulin that is used, long acting and short acting. These help to better manage a person depending on meal consumption, caloric intake, and carbohydrate intake. Another way to manage type 1 is by an insulin pump. An insulin pump delivers continuous subcutaneous infusion of insulin (Lemur and Batuman 210). Only 1 insulin is used in a pump, fasting acting. Compare And Contrast Steamboat And Telegraph Steamboat and Telegraph The following presentation encompases two major historical milestones in the development of american engineering and ingenuity. The first being the development of the steam engine and the second the invention of the telegraph. It s the 1800s and industrialization is thriving throughout America. People are moving away from an agricultural way of life, moving into cities, developing arts and trades and trying to expand their boundaries of who, where and how they can trade marketable items. In trying to reach more and more customers at further and further distances the ability to travel further in less time creates a demand. In this time period most of the trade routes revolved around rivers as this was the easiest method of transportation and the mighty Mississippi being the largest trade route. However, the problem with traveling the Mississippi or any riverway at this time is that you are at the mercy of the wind and currents. At this time you travelled by boat with full sail and could not maneuver against tides or a poor wind. There was a need to create something that could deal with this dilemma. The environment, economy and even quality of human life have been greatly affected. This has created a lack of trust between the inhabitants and the oil companies, and even with the Nigerian government. Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) has been viewed in different ways by different school of thoughts; some see it has a voluntary initiative, while others think it s a main part of every company s structure and even an opportunity to improve brand. • 34. Tertiary Structure Task 2 a) The tertiary structure refers to the structural arrangement of amino acids that are found far away from one another along the polypeptide chain. The tertiary structure is overall a three dimensional shape of a protein molecule. It will bend and twist to achieve maximum stability. The shape of a tertiary structure is made when the secondary structure folds in on itself and is held in place by many bonds and interactions formed by the R groups in the amino acid chain. The bonds and interactions involved are hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, hydrophobic interactions and disulphide bonds. These bonds and interactions are located in different areas of the tertiary structure, the hydrogen bonds are located inbetween polar R groups, ionic bonds are located between charged R groups, hydrophobic interactions are located between nonpolar R groups and disulphide bonds are formed generally in the endoplasmic reticulum by oxidation . Hydrogen bonds may form between different side chain groups. Hydrophobic interactions are brought about in an aqueous site. The tertiary structure is held together mainly by interactions that are located at the R groups. A protein with a tertiary structure could be a myoglobin protein.
