Movie Evaluation Essays
Crafting a movie evaluation essay can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The difficulty
lies not only in expressing personal opinions but also in the analytical depth required to assess
various aspects of a film. To begin with, one must watch the movie attentively, paying heed to
its plot, characters, cinematography, sound design, and overall impact. Analyzing these elements
requires a keen eye and the ability to articulate one's thoughts effectively.
The process becomes even more intricate when attempting to balance subjective impressions with
objective critique. Striking this equilibrium is crucial for a comprehensive evaluation.
Furthermore, it demands a nuanced understanding of film theory and the ability to contextualize
the work within the broader cinematic landscape. Evaluating the director's choices, the actors'
performances, and the overall thematic coherence adds another layer of complexity to the task.
Crafting a coherent and engaging essay also necessitates the skill of constructing a compelling
argument. This involves organizing thoughts logically, providing evidence to support assertions,
and ensuring a smooth flow from one point to the next. Integrating quotes, examples, and critical
perspectives from experts in the field elevates the quality of the essay but requires meticulous
research and citation skills.
Moreover, maintaining a balance between personal preferences and broader audience appeal can
be challenging. What may resonate with one viewer might not resonate with another, and
acknowledging this subjectivity while providing an objective analysis is a delicate task.
In conclusion, writing a movie evaluation essay demands a fusion of analytical prowess, critical
thinking, and effective communication. The intricate interplay of personal viewpoints with an
objective assessment, coupled with the challenge of constructing a cohesive argument, makes
this task a complex but intellectually stimulating endeavor.

Cotton Gin In The 1800 s
When Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in 1794 there was not much of an
impact at first, but once the 1800 s came around the cotton gin gained popularity.
The cotton gin was used in the south by slaves to separate the cotton fiber from the
seeds. It had teeth that pulled the fiber apart and let the seeds fall out. The north and
south, both, were impacted by the cotton gin, but depending on who you ask;
workers, slaves, slave/ plantation owners, mills owners; people would have different
opinions. In the south there was a few different opinions of people. The slave
/ plantation owners liked the cotton gin because they were getting cotton cleaned
faster so they were able to send it up north to the mill owners. The slave/ plantation
owners were
Itc Vs Cic Hearing Aids Essay
Approximately fifteen percent of American adults have some hearing loss problems
and around two or three children in every thousand are born with a loss of hearing.
This has lead to the development of a lot of different instruments to help amplify
hearing or produce it synthetically. The most common of these fall under the category
of either hearingaids or cochlear implants but there are also many others including
auditory brainstem implants. While hearing aids do not restore normal hearing they
can be extremely helpful to people with hearing losses. Hearing aids can be worn
either behind or inside the earand are used to amplify sound that may not be loud
enough for a person with a hearing loss to hear. Hearing aids use a microphone...

CIC hearing aids are almost completely unable to be seen because it is covered by
the ear canal. Both ITC and CIC hearing aids are extremely difficult to remove and
/or adjust because of how far inside or the ear they fit. Because of the small size of
ITC and CIC hearing aids, they are not very powerful and so they do not produce
as much sound as most other hearing aids. Now almost all hearing aids are
electronical. Depending on the electrical devices used they can either be classified
as analog or digital. Analog hearing aids transform sound waves into electronic
signal. They are made specifically for the user meeting whatever needs are
specified by their audiologist. Analog hearing aids are usually less expensive than
digital hearing aids. Digital hearing aids transform sound waves into a numerical
code. They can be programmed specifically to amplify certain pitches, frequencies,
and sounds coming from specific directions. Both analog hearing aids and digital
hearing aids can be used in any style of hearing aids. As well as the style and
electronic devices, hearing aids can also vary in features. Some of these features
include directional microphones, telephone switch, and direct audio input. These
features can all either come on the device or can be added to
Islam In Europe
From the time period of 1000 1750 C.E, Islam had a tremendous culture, economic,
and political impact on Europe. It introduced Europe to new agricultural technology,
exchange of ideas, trade goods that would influence Europe development. The cultural
impact of Islam in Europe shows the architecture, religious, and the combination of
economic and political change. During the high middle ages, western European
learned about Aristotle thought and received latin translation from both Byzantine
and Muslim philosophers. European became aware of the work of artisol, Islamic
science, astronomy, the Arabic numeral, and techniques of paper production. During
the 13th century Ibn Rushd, a Qadi of Seville work influenced the development of
scholasticism and the European philosopher to harmonize Christianity with Aristotle
thoughts. Muslim scholar during the reconquest of Sicily, introduced Arabic
translation of Aristotle, which inspired the scholastic philosopher. The Reconquista
of Spain in 1492 had finally reconquered Spain from the last Muslim kingdom of
Granada. From 1400 1700, the Ottoman dynasty had played an important role in

Islam also introduced a new trading product like silk product, cotton textile, carpets,
and tapestries. Western Europe adopted the poetry, music, love songs of Muslim
performers when creating the literature of love. In the 12th C, the sugarcane spread
to Europe through the crusaders with crystallized sugar. Before Europe had little
access to sugar and relied on honey and sweet fruit. In the 13th Gunpowder,
technology was also introduced to the Europeans, which had a big change in the
Refugee Essay Examples
How would it feel for you to be robbed, but not only be robbed, lose everything,
then go to a new country? This sounds terrible and depressing right? Would you
want your life going inside out then years later have it slowly morph into a life
where you are a refugee in America? Well guess what? In Vietnam this happened to
so many people. This was a common thing for a refugee. In the article Children of
War written by Author Brice and the novel Inside Out and Back Again written by
Thanhha Lai, they show examples of different people facing the refugee experience.

well, and she now has a lot of friends because of Vu Lee. Someone is always
inviting us to a party; (The Vu Lee Effect, 229). This quote shows that ever since
Vu Lee saved Ha when Pink Boy was going to attack her she got really popular and
everyone wants to be her friend. The family went from going off of money from

Argumentative Essay On Euthanasia
The issue of euthanasia occupies an essential place among many legal, medical,
religious and other problems. The phenomenon itself is a subject for reflection of
public consciousness since human life today is the primary value for the world
society. The issue has acquired another way of demand because, about all legal and
moral realities, the right to life brings it to the level of universal and global
challenges of our time. Advances in modern medicine have changed the attitude
towards deathas a one stage phenomenon, doctors today can support the life of
patients even in the gravest condition, not allowing him or her to die. For this reason,
the previously used criteria for determining a person s death came into conflict with
its new scientific understanding, and the role of euthanasiadiscusses the considerable
controversy. At the same time, euthanasia is gaining momentum, as every year
several thousand people go to another world with the voluntary consent and assistance
of doctors and a real euthanasia applied to children and people with questionable
testimonies for the termination of life. Therefore, the question of euthanasia today is
acuter than ever, complicated not only for reasons of rationale and humanity but also
from a religious point of view.
The right to die is known since ancient times. The word Euthanasia came from the
Greeks which means good death. In the 5th Century B.C before Christianity, suicide,
infant homicide, and active euthanasia were all
Essay Review of The City of Mexico in the Age of Diaz
The Great Divide
University of California Berkley geographer and author Michael Johns argues in
his novel, The City of Mexico in the Age of Diaz, that the central Zocalo of Mexico
City does more than geographically segregate the East from the West, but Mexico s
national mentality as well. During the years of Diaz s democratic façade, the
upper classes thrived upon plantation exports, feudalist economics and the iron fist
of Diaz s rurales while struggling to maintain European social likeness. East of the
Zocalo, shantytowns housed thousands of poor pelados that served as societal
blemishes of a suburbanite s experience. In Johns s work, the penniless and
indigenous serve as the scapegoats for the priviledged and their obsession with ...

No one would undertake the unglamorous task of assisting the poor, but rather they
attempted to veil the masses in the shadow of their refined buildings and recent
assumption of culture.
Another shield of the upper classes was the dichotomy of violence and pacification
that the father of Mexico, Poriforio Diaz, bestowed upon the pelados. Robbery and
social crimes, such as drunkenness, lead to the imprisonment and shipment of lower
class rateros (thieves) to work as hacienda slaves. Johns writes, It also provided
workers for hacienda owners В… thousands of these mostly peasant migrants were
sent back to the countryside as slave laborers on henequen estates in the Yucatan
В… (70). Rurales left the countryside s radicals dead, working, or subdued.
However, city police, without all the gaucho flamboyance of the rurales, served as
little more than a city joke: The government and the police captains were as
concerned with watching their own lawmen as they were with catching criminals
(72). This lack of discipline and respect further ripped apart the division in the
classes. When little could be done to control the lower classes actions, Mexico City
did not turn to the social programs installed by the very countries they tried to
mirror. Instead, Diaz lead a strategy beginning in 1866 to pacify the masses with the
allowance of social activities like the burning of the Judas s bull fights or parades
through West Mexico City. Revenge on the act of
The Postclassical Period
CCOT 2012
Changes and continuities from the classical to the post classical cover a wide
range of political, cultural, religious and economic shifts as populations grew and
societies became more complex. The classical empires of Rome, Han China, Gupta
India and Archaemenid Persia fell due to external and internal forces and were
replaced by the larger empires of the post classical Byzantine; Tsui, Tang and Song in
China and the Caliphates in Persia. Only India did not return to an over reaching
centralized empire. During the post classical Dar el Islam united much of Eurasia
with a single religious adherence to Islam. Also, the largest empire the world was
ever to see, the Mongols, rose during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact the sole purpose of these kingdoms was trade and they were little interested in
administering their kingdoms for any other purpose. Conquest as a source of revenue
was not needed as they could bring in wealth through trade relations.
One of the greatest changes in the post classical period was the rise of Islam that
spread across Eurasia and Africa. Even after the Islamic Empire, Dar al Islam, had
begun to lose power by 850 Islam continued to spread, unifying diverse societies and
ethnicities through the commonality of culture and religion.
Changes in political and cultural traditions during the post classical period occurred
in Africa because of intensive Islamic contact. When Arab conquerors introduced the
Islamic faith into northern Africa, they expanded the region of commerce. Muslim
merchants established trading centers for copper, iron, salts, and cotton textiles. The
newly established trade affected traditional social and religious beliefs. After 1000
C.E., the kin based social structure experienced difficult challenges. Increased
conflict between peoples led to the creation of military forces for both offensive and
defensive use. This led to the formation of chiefdoms exhibiting more formal
structures of governing such as in the kingdoms of Kongo, Ghana, and Mali. Because
most traders were Muslim, many African societies converted to Islam to improve
their relations with the
Emily Dickinson Adversity
The late psychiatrist Elizabeth Kubler Ross said: The most beautiful people I ve
known are those who have known trials, have known struggles, have known loss,
and have found their way out of the depths. This inspirational quote suggests that
adversity provides people with new opportunities and can drive people to improve
their life. Adversity comes in numerous forms, such as emotional, physical, and
financial. Individuals have a choice to learn from adversity or allow it to break their
character. However, certain types of adversity, such as severe chronic conditions or
diseases, do little to improve character and the human condition. Thus, all types of
adversity, pain, and suffering are not beneficial, however, most work to improve an...

instance, was when one of my vendors would not ship out around one hundred of

was not prepared for an issue like this. Nevertheless, I spent hours on the phone
with my vendor, trying to get the issue resolved. In the meantime however,
messages from customers bombarded my inbox, which essentially consisted of a
demand asking where their items were. While it required a considerable amount of
time, I finally resolved my vendor issue and the items were shipped out, but I knew
that this could not happen in the future, so as a result of this adversity, I performed
an extensive analysis of my vendors and discontinued or added vendors based off of

and hired an employee to help with managing the account. As a direct result of the
adversity, I gained the capability to reassess my situation and make my business

The Theoretical Framework Of The Study And Is Divided
Into...
Chapter 2 Literature Review 2.1Introduction This chapter discusses the theoretical
framework of the study and is divided into four main sections. The first section
describes the recent financial crisis or global economic recession. Section two
reviews any similarities between the recent crisis and previous crises. Section
three explores the measures taken by governments to prevent a reoccurrence of a
financial crisis Section four discusses FDI and mergers and acquisitions.
2.2Financial Crisis/Global Economic Recession As defined by Eichengreen and
Portes (1987) a financial crisis tends to be disruptions within financial markets and
are characterised by falling asset prices and bankruptcy/liquidation among debtors
which spread through the financial system, completely disrupting the markets
capacity to allocate capital. It is clear that the crisis had multiple causes such as
the financiers themselves especially those who claimed to have found a way to
expel risk where in fact they had only lost track of it. Regulators and bankers are
also to bear blame because they tolerated this recklessness. The macroeconomic
backdrop was very important as years of low inflation and stable growth nurtured
risk taking. Some research suggests that European banks should take blame as they
borrowed greedily in American money markets pre crisis and used the funds to buy
dodgy securities. All these factors together played a major role in the unravelling of
the recent financial crisis
First Philippic Against Marcus Essay
In Cicero amp;#8217;s, amp;#8220;First Philippic against Marcus Antonius, ; he is
offering his view on the political situation after the death of Caesar. His purpose for
coming before the Senate is to drive them to the realization that Marcus Antonius and
his actions are slowly breaking down the unity of the country. He praises Marcus
Antonius for his fine speech, intentions, and promises, then points out the fallacies
and unconstitutionality of Marcus Antonius amp;#8217; actions. He reminds the
Senators that amp;#8220;Nothing was done any longer through the Senate

The Role Of Ownership In The Call Of The Wild, By Jack
London
Over the course of The Call of the Wild written by Jack London, Buck s several
owners help shape the dog that he turns out to be. Although the owners are only
mentioned for a short period of time each (excluding Thornton), each of them made a
huge and immediate impact on the story and Buck himself. There were five main
owners who contributed to Buck s evolution, including the Judge, the man in the red
sweater, Perrault and Francois, the trio (Mercedes, Hal, and Charles), and of course
John Thornton. Overall, these five people had a profound influence on Buck and his
new way of life. Buck s owners frequently change, yet their differences shape the two

He saved Buck from being beaten to death by Hal and then becomes Buck s master.
Later on, Buck ends up saving Thornton from drowning in a river, therefore
Thornton s action was reciprocated. This is representative of their classic man dog
relationship, where both the dog and its owner care and love each other very much.
This is something that hasn t been seen in the book since Buck was living with Judge
Miller. London articulates Thornton and Buck s first meeting with a simple, but
interesting two paragraphs: John Thornton and Buck looked at each other. You poor
devil, said John Thornton, and Buck licked his hand (44). This shows how Buck and
Thornton loved each other upon meeting each other. But, the biggest impact
Thornton has on Buck is that he shows the soft, compassionate, and cuddly side of
Buck. This is because of the classic man dog relationship; which Buck has never truly
had. The man dog relationship exemplifies the loving nature of Buck, while other
owners have showed the fierce and savage side to Buck. The main theme of the book
is Buck s evolution from the house pet to the hunter gatherer and John Thornton
loving Buck so much, with that being reciprocated, contributed so much to the theme

What was the Cause of the Peloponnesian War
Peloponnesian War is the name that was given to the conflict between Sparta and
Athens. These conflicts lasted from 431 until 404 BC. This is a war brought about
by disputes between Athens and Sparta on how to deal with their allies. According to
Burn, (123), the Peloponnesian War was between the rivals Athens and Sparta. It was
a war ignited by insignificant civil conflicts and spurred by interests from third party
cities. Violent disputes erupted between them and the war began when Sparta issued
ultimatums to Athens. The Spartans wanted Athens to lift its economic sanctions
against the Megara city. Ultimately, Sparta finally won the war by completely
destroying the Athenian fleet with the financial help from Persia. A number of
reasons caused the war. First, it was because of the ultimatums issued to Athens by
Sparta, the Athenians control of the Delian League and their naval alliance, and
Athens alliance with Leontini and Corcyra and the contest between Corinth and
Athens over Corcyra. The main cause of the Peloponnesian Warwas when Spartans
issued ultimatums to Athens. Sparta promised attacks if Athens did not lift its
economic sanctions against the Megara city. Megara city was Spartan s ally that was
on the West of the Athenians territory. The Athenians had forbidden the Megarians
from trading in the Athenian empire harbors (Hanson, 134). This was a blow to both
Megara and Sparta because; they got income from trading in the harbors. The dispute
over these sanctions
The Solution to Hair Loss
In the past when someone had symptoms of hair loss panic usually struck. There
seemed to be no solution or if there was then it was expensive. With today s
treatment plans being so affordable there are some easy and simple ways to stop the
loss of hair. You won t have to suffer as a result of not knowing what type treatment
will work for you.
With the trend of having well groomed hair as a reflection of self worth
experiencing any type of hair loss can be physically and emotionally devastating.
Feelings of insecurity may arise from the initial aspects of hair loss especially
when socializing. The causes of a balding hair line whether the person is a male or
female does not have to be a genetic issue.
Having a dramatic loss of hair that is rapid would need you to check with your
doctor or a hair specialist as soon as you can. A doctor can check the condition of
your hair and prescribe the proper type treatment plan that would be suited for your
hair.
There are plenty of home grown treatments that a person can try but without a proper
diagnosis they may not work as planned. Knowing the type of hair loss condition is
important to identify. Getting the advice from a professional who knows what type
of treatment plans is the best route to take. Whether it is an issue of women that
suffer from thinning hair or men dealing with their hair loss there are treatments
available.
If the hair loss is not of a serious nature then minor changes can be made such as

The Jury System Should Be Scrapped For Criminal Trials
THE JURY SYSTEM SHOULD BE SCRAPPED FOR CRIMINAL TRIALS IN
NSW
Through various analytical investigations and research, it can be proposed the jury
system should be scraped for criminal trials in NSW . As jurors are incapable of
apprehensively comprehending evidence and are vulnerable to being biased by their
personal prejudices and excessive media publicity. Correspondingly, many fall victim
of escaping trials due to their elongated processes. Conversely, many dispute in
contradiction suggesting juries reflect democratic regimes and ensure the most
appropriate verdict is reached as they contemplate on society s ethics, morals and
values often absent in judge alone trials.
Firstly, the role of the jury is too listen to the evidence ... Show more content on

The concept of the accused being assessed by their peers is very appropriate as
they judge merely based on the morals and principles of the society making the law
more valid and binding. Whereas, leaving the judgment to someone who doesn t
necessarily live in the real world (Love, 2014) may not be so appropriate. Also the
danger of getting rid of jury trials is that there will be a perception that someone
who is an elite judge is going to be deciding matter, someone that may be in touch
with the ordinary community (Harvey 2011). Hence, the jury system ensures the
communities ethics, values and morals are implied and safeguards the law is applied
in a way that fits in with what the society expects (Love 2014).
In opposition, many suggest juries should be scrapped for criminal trials in NSW
as jurors are often vulnerable of being swayed by excessive media publicity. This is
most prevalent in high profile cases, where it is extremely if not impossible to find
jurors who haven t already read about circumstances surrounding it in the media and
formed their own opinions about the matter (Nedium, 2015). One such case which
strengthens this argument is R v Gittany [NSWSC 138] where the defendant was
charged for murder of Lisa Cecilia Harnum under the Criminal Procedure Act 1986
section 132 (NSW) (LIAC,2013). Although

Donnie Darko Analysis
Donnie Darko and Run Lola Run do have some similarities, although they are faint.
Both films have a cause and effect situation to them that lead us in confusion and
suspense throughout the films. In Donnie Darko the audience are left at the ending
wondering what would have happened if the plane never crashed into his room?
/ How would Donnie act or end up if he were to live a longer life. We see the past
and present in both films seen through the characters. In Run Lola Run, when Lola
accidentally runs into a person, we see snapshots of their futures, which play out
indirectly as a response to their interactions with Lola. Compared to Donnie Darko
who is seeing his life coming to an end when Frank tells him the world is going to
end. Each film battles with the amount of timethey have to live or achieve their goal.
They also share the ideas of hidden items/meanings in the films. In Donnie Darko,
there was a photo of Donnie with bunny ears that is discreetly placed on a table near
the phone that he grabs. Comparable to the Hitchcock film being represented in Run
Lola Run, with the use of spirals and paining of the woman actress in the station
giving the vibe of Hitchcock s film Vertigo.
Time traveling, and the encountering of different people is a large aspect of both
films. In Donnie Darko, we are never in one place for two long and we are
continuously watching Donnie impact and have his life impacted by other people in
the community. Then there is Lola, who is running

America (RCA) began studying atomic batteries for the use of small radio
receivers and hearing aids that atomic batteries became practical and more potential
was realized (source 6). Moving forward to the 1980 s, inventor Paul Brown
developed an atomic battery that was much more powerful than most thermal
batteries out at the time. Brown used the emission of alpha and beta particles in
radioactive materials to create an extremely powerful magnetic field. As discussed
before, these alpha and beta particles contain kinetic energy to help collide atomic
particles. The energy produced from this system was so rapid and immense that
controlling the cell was extremely difficult. This proved to be a towering roadblock
for most scientists to continue research for atomic batteries, until Brown was able to
invent an approach to encompass the uncontrollable magnetic fields. This battery was
so powerful
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The religious group Mormonism, better known as The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter day Saints, has had their share of hardship and struggles. From this
adversity the church and members have had a great impact on western civilization.
Being a member myself, I can think of many different stories that have led me to
believe that the early members of the church had a rough life. Anyone involved in
the expansion westward who was willing to give up their safe lives in the east is a
hero in my eyes. One great story that has stuck in my mind is the Mormon
Battalion. The Mormon Battalion was a group of 543 men who enlisted for the
sake of saving their religious freedom. The Mormons had recently been chased out
of Illinois and were going to embark on their search for religious freedom and
peace. Brigham Young the new president of the church asked President James K.
Polk for assistance to travel to the west . President Polk didn t like the idea of
granting them money to settle out of the United States territory. Luckily for the
Mormons a man by the name of Thomas Kane came to their rescue. Thomas Kane
had connections through his father to the president. He persuaded Polk to make the
Mormon Battalion. He was easily persuaded because he feared that the Mormons
would fight against them in the war. President Polk promised Young that if a
battalion of 500 men were raised, he would offer them aid. To his dismay many of
the Mormons felt as though this was a plot to disband the religion
Research Paper On Animal Shelter
If an animal shelter was dangerously low on supplies for their animals then
someone needs to help them out. Giving donations to them would be the right thing
to do. It would be awful if you just had to throw the animals out on the street after
being taken care of for so long. They wouldn t know what to do or how to take care
of themselves. The other option would be to throw all of them in the pound and we
all know what happens whenever poor helpless animals get thrown in the pound.
Usually the animalsget put down, as in killed, whenever they do not get adopted in a
certain amount of time. One good reason to give the community animal shelter
donations is so the animals don t have to live on the street when they do not have any
other place to wonder to. An animals should never have to endure that kind of pain,

Dropping you re poor pet off at some random location is never the right choice. Just
because you can t afford to take care of your pet anymore does not mean you can t
afford to send them to an animal shelter? Without animal shelter there would be so
many more stray animals out on the street, not knowing what to do or how to get
food. The last and final reason why we should start giving donations to this animal
shelter is because there are some animals out there that will never have a home or
that doesn t even know what a family is. An animal shelter would provide a place
to call home. Without food and supplies these people need to take care of these
animals, there will be no animal shelter. And all of these reasons I just listed for you
would come true. The animals that are in the animals shelter right now would be
homeless and without a place to call home. No animal should have to go through
Analysis Of Uncharted 4
The game I would like to discuss in this report is called Uncharted 4 A Thief s End. It
is an adventure first person Role Play Game (RPG) played through PlayStation or
X Box console. Published by Naughty Dog in 2016, this game won many awards and
has recorded as the fastest selling video game on the PlayStation 4 in 2016

The game is a sequel from the Uncharted series that telling about the adventure of
two brothers Sam and Nathan Nate Drake to search for treasures, while at the same

The idea of this 50 GB size game is very simple and straightforward. There is no
customization needed since everything is provided by the system. The game gives
no limitation of time and how many a player can do errors, which gives me a
frustrating yet fun experience because I have to go through a set of trials and errors
before I can succeed certain level.
The educational value of this game, in my opinion is on the way the game can
relate a real life problem solving characteristics into a realistic graphic. Players are
not presented with a superhero with unrealistic capabilities, but they will see a
fictional human like character that has limitation and weaknesses. The sophisticated
graphics technology and the easy to follow storyline are the strongest part of this
game because it provides player with an atmosphere where he can immerse himself
into the situation. And since the game is a first person role play game, there are no
rules to memorize. Player use his common knowledge to engage into the game.
This game has all the requirements of a motivating game. It has a clear instruction,
goal, challenge, control and the pleasantly frustrating element (Asgari Kaufman,
2009). The immersion of this game happened when a player is challenged to solve
the problem. As mentioned in the Flow theory by Csikszentmihalyi (1992) in

Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Use Only Essay
The history of U.S. policy toward mind altering substances has followed cycles of
tolerance and intolerance ever since the mid 19th century. The medical use of the
cannabis plant goes back at least 5,000 years to ancient China. It has been used by
most of the world s cultures for its healing properties (MedicalMarijuanaCases 1).
Today such conditions as Migraine headaches, Glaucoma, Cancer, Epilepsy, Asthma
AIDS/HIV, Spinal injury, Muscle spasms, Insomnia etc., could be treated for
symptomatic relief with cannabis or cannabis extract. However, marijuana is still
considered an illegal drug in most states in the United States.
Marijuana usage may have been common 20 30 years ago, but it really isn t any

officials at the U.S. Drugs Enforcement Administration insist there are few, if any

marijuana, although it does support further stating that under the direction of a

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Vaccination
There are several religious exemptions that followers can seem to justify but some
cases seem to be outrageous and a threat to society. One of these exemptions being,
religious vaccine exemption which seems to be a controversial topic even in today s
society. Although, there is not an abundance of religious followers who are against
vaccinationa few do seem to rise publicly once in a while which leads to a media
frenzy. Religions such as, Christian Scientists and the Dutch Reformed Church are
some of the religions in the past having followers known of creating controversy in
this topic. In which then, stirs the public on establishing an opinion on who to side
with and what is right and wrong. For example, there are cases where children
entering schools are not vaccinated due to their parent s religious beliefs. Should this
extreme violation towards safety be allowed? No, I believe that most cases of
religious vaccineexemptions are morally unjustifiable and wrong.
Any act that unnecessarily endangers other human beings and society is morally
unjustifiable and wrong. I believe that when there s an option where something can
be easily preventable and is known to be avoidable then it should be accomplished
with such method. When someone decides to purposely chose an alternative option
in which danger and negative consequences may become pertinent and thus, the
outcome it is wrong. There s no reason a sane human being should decide to
purposely make a decision which can
Green Light in The Great Gatsby Essay
The Green Light in The Great Gatsby
The image of the green light in the novel Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, is a significant symbol which reflects Gatsby s dream and other
aspects beyond Gatsby s longing. Throughout the novel Fitzgerald uses many
other images or symbols. At first, it may seem very basic, but when the
symbol is closely studied, one may see the deeper meaning found within it.
Fitzgerald uses these symbols to make a point across to the reader. He
then uses this point and converts it into a deeper meaning, into a myth
about America. The green light mentioned in the novel clearly represents
and is a prime example of this.

Therefore, one cannot affiliate Gatsby with Daisy. The
reader does know that Nick admires Gatsby for his dream which is some way
linked with the green light. The color green represents life, hope, and
youth. Gatsby s fantasy will live as long as long as he remains gazing at
the green light.
In chapter four of the novel, Nick finds out from Jordan that
Gatsby bought the house so that Daisy would be just across the bay. Nick
responds to this fact: Then it had not been merely the stars to which he
had aspired on that June night. He came alive to me, delivered suddenly
from the womb of his purposeless splendor.
Until this point, Gatsby was a puzzle. Nick, at this moment,
solves the puzzle: Gatsby s house and extravagant style of living is a
necessity to reaching and fulfilling his dream rather than a flamboyant
exhibit of wealth. The truth that Gatsby is yearning for Daisy is now
apparent. This is being symbolized by the green light at the end of the
dock.
Gatsby finally meets Daisy in Chapter five of the novel. The
symbol of the green light becomes very evident. It becomes so distinct
that Gatsby even shows Daisy the green light. He says, If it wasn t for
the mist we could see your home across the bay... You always have a green
light that burns all night at the end of your dock. Daisy is so
Drug Decriminalization
The Alcohol and other drug (AOD) field is dynamic and fluid and is constantly
being shaped by a variety of forces (The Department of Health, 2004). Illicit drug
use is a widespread issue around the world, posturing significant social and
economic costs to the health care system, justice department and social welfare
systems in both developing and developed countries (Damrongplasit, Hsiao, Zhao,
2012). Criminal Justice and addictive drugs have been tangled in Australia and
internationally for a century or more. Ever since the addictive and destructive
properties were discover within certain drugs, officials have declared the production,
distribution, sale and possession of drugs to be illegal (Sherman Valenta, 2015).
Throughout this article, there will be a focus on firstly, drug legislation and
decriminalisation with a focus on marijuana, followed by harm minimisation Firstly,
Drug related crimes take up a large portion of the work of police, prisons and the
courts (Ritter, 2017) In many countries, including Australia, the issue of varying the
laws regarding marijuana use has received growing attention in the media and the
scientific community (Lenton Ovenden, 1996). There have been many discussions
made in favor for and against the legalization and/or decriminalization of drugs. The
legalization of drugs means, you are able to acquire, possess and use the said drug
without criminal charges (Clausen, 2016) while Decriminalization can be defined as

Total Quality Management ( Tqm )
Total Quality Management (TQM) is a systematic approach that organizations take in
order to implement constant organizational improvements. There are 8 essential
points that help an organization achieve it TQM goals: Training, executive
management, Customer Focus, Decision Making, Methodology Tools, Continuous
Improvements, Company Culture and Employee Involvement. It is important for any
modern organization to understand the importance of TQM as consumers demand
better products and services. TQM can differentiate an organization and can give it a
competitive advantage.
A key author in the study of TQM Dr W. Edwards Demingderived 14 points for

companies like Toyota, Sony and Fuji adopted his techniques. This led to a rise in
demand for Japanese products that represent what TQM is all about.

`` Pure Language `` By Jennifer Egan Essay
In Jennifer Egan s Pure Language, the characters of this chapter exemplify the
tensions between those who see technology as beneficial and collaborative and those
who see it as corruptive. This chapter surrounds Alex, the protagonist, who has a
young daughter, Cara Ann. Alex and his wife try to shield Cara Ann from the use of
mobile phones, but despite their best efforts she eventually becomes familiar with
her father s cellphone. While Rebecca sees this as corruptive, Alex is indifferent. To
Alex, technology also has its benefits, which are shown through his successful
mission to find promoters for a concert, with the help of a young, technologically
savvy assistant, Lulu. Egan exacerbates the tensions between characters like Lulu and
Alex with significant generational differences in this chapter to argue that early,
prolonged exposure to mobile phones can be harmful and lead to arrogance. Alex
and Rebecca try to avoid the burgeoning consumerism which has surrounded children
due to handsets. At the start of the chapter Egan stresses the fact that handsets for kid
have become popular and children have become mass consumers of music, which
has led to a change in demand for many genres of music. This development of
children becoming consumers is described thoroughly in the essay Childhood in a
Digital Age: Creative Challenges for Educational Futures by Anna Craft. In one
passage, Craft asserts, This marketization of childhood where children s

My Educational Goals and Philosophy Statement Essays
My Eclectic Educational Philosophy
Thinking back on the years of high school, I remember having wonderful experiences
both inside the classroom and out. I had influential teachers and the drive to succeed
in order to obtain a higher education. I realize that not all students have that drive to
continue their education, but as an aspiring educator I wish to seek and find that
drive in each of my students. The famous philosopher and educator, John Dewey,
once said, The aim of education is to enable individuals to continue their education or
that the object and reward of learning is continued capacity for growth. As a
facilitating instructor, I plan to pursue this aim of education with an eclectic blend of
elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With English/Language Arts as my content specialization, I will teach my students
how to express their ideas and/or feelings properly and how to do it well. Part of
this expression will come through venues such as writings and artwork just to name
a few. By accomplishing self expression, my students will grow to respect themselves
and others. As mentioned before, the progressive philosophy utilizes practical
activities and by using this idea, I can mediate physical interaction to teach
communication. Group work, class discussions about inside and outside issues, oral
presentations such as speeches, mock interviews if the grade level allows, and hands
on activities will help in grasping the concept.
One other vast component of communication comes from the social reconstructivism
philosophy. As the students build their relationship with their community, they will
possess the capability to be effective future citizens. Along with this capability, they
will be able to apply the fundamentals elements of society to help them make wise,
just choices in their everyday lives. An example of one of these fundamentals would
be community service and knowing how to voice their opinion as a community
member when appropriate like voting or starting an organization. The definition of
social reconstructivism education is to change the world and make society better
through education. I am a firm believer that changing the world and making it a

underground city, inexplicable construction and excavation, and runways formed in
the shape of a swastika. This place is a place many people are in right now: The
Denver International Airport. The Denver International Airport has many serious and
questionable characteristics such as unexplainable symbols, images, and stories
inside and outside of the airport which lead to the conclusion that the Denver

The whole airport is full of signs that lead to the belief of it being controlled by the
New World Order but many people don t know who or what the New World Order
is. The intentions of the New World Order are to have complete and total control
over every human being on the planet and to dramatically reduce the world s
population by two thirds. We will have a world government whether you like it or
not. The only question is whether that government will be achieved by conquest or
consent, Peter Warburg, a German born American banker, testified this before the
US Senate on February 17, 1950 (Peter Warburg). He was referring to the goals of
the New World Order. The Denver International Airport is where the New World
Order members plan and strategize their goals. The members are many of the world

Diabetes did not Prevent a Better Future for Sonia

Can a disease prevent you from chasing your dream? For Sonia it did not. In fact, it

Sonia Sotomayor had a somewhat typical Puerto Rican childhood. She was born in
New York to her parents Juan Luis Sotomayor and Celina Baez de Sotomayor. Her
only sibling was her younger brother, Juan Luis Sotomayor Jr. who was born when
she was three years old. She grew up reading Nancy Drew books and dreamed of
being a police detective. (Bernier,) At age eight, she was diagnosed with diabetes.
The doctor told her that her diabetes would prevent her from being what she
wanted to be when she grew up, because her diabetes was so hard to treat at the
time ( The Last , 33). Not wanting to depend on her parents to keep herself alive,
she learned to give herself insulin shots every day in her belly as well as boiling the
water to sterilize a syringe and needle. Sonia had a strong desire for a good
education and to get there she had to learn the English language, but her parents only
spoke Spanish and she strongly disliked the English language (Barnes). A little hard
work never hurt anyone. In 1972, Sonia graduated from Cardinal Spellman High

allowed her to win college scholarships to both Princeton University and Yale

In Silence of the Lambs , Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling are different
characters baring frightfully similar traits. Sexual discrimination and an ignorance of
others on their individual human complexities band these two characters together.
Lecter s serial killer image and Starling s innocent appearance due to her femininity

First and foremost, Hannibal Lecter shares similar qualities to characters such as
Norman Bates, Frankenstein, and King Kong. All of these characters behave
according their own natures, and in doing so, nothing that these characters do are
morally evil in any sense, but rather resulting circumstances of being entirely
misunderstood by society. In a strong sense, these characters can be connected to
the perception of mental illness, particularly within society during the turn of the
21st century. These characters are all held to certain expectations, however when
they are put in a situation where they are given a choice with their own free will,
nothing evil comes out of it. In fact, when King Kong was given the choice, he
chooses to rescue Fay Wray. Frankenstein is only a result of what one man in
society made him out to be while Norman Bates always made an effort to be alone,
but was left as an outcast who only wanted to adhere to his mother s wishes. He
battled within his own mind and consequentially, was neglected from the outside.
Lecter was seen by society as a mass serial killer, however when Starling treats him
as a human being instead of just a serial killer and does not put a damper on his vast
intelligence like others, Lecter makes his own willing attempt to help her. Similarly
to this, Clarice Starling wants to succeed in

Objectives And Objectives Of Strategic Management
Strategic Management is a substantial wing of the management system of an
organisation or company whereby a set of managerial decision and action helps to
determine the long run performance and major goals of the organisation or company.
Generally, top level management of an organisation is responsible for the initiation
and implementation of such decisions and actions based on the available resources
and welcoming environment. The strategies involve the formulation and setting of
directions, aims and objectives; improving organisational performance; collaborating
and executing changes; developing and training the employees etc. It also stresses on
the monitoring and evaluation of internal strengths and weaknesses and identifying
external opportunities (Adair 2009).
On the other hand, leadership is a process whereby a person works through a chain
of frequentative action by forming a vision, crafting a set of goals and objectives,
setting directions and selecting employees, performing required tasks as long as

individual needs to be diligent, vigilant and resilient in all aspects of policy and
strategy making for any specific situation arising with the organization (Atreya 2013).
According to Atreya (2013) Strategic management is about setting vision, mission,
goals and objectives for achieving excellence and the strategic leadership is to ensure
that the results are being achieved.
Jerusalem, Religion, And Religion
Jerusalem is important for Christians because it is the place where Jesus lived his
last days and experienced his suffering and crucifixion, death on the cross, and
resurrection. Precisely in the city of Jerusalem is the Church of the Holy
Sepulchre, which was built on what is considered the tomb of Christ. For the Jews,
Jerusalem is sacred because of the Wailing Wall, which is the remains of the second
temple built by Herod the Great, king of Judea. (The first temple was built by King
Solomon). Finally, Jerusalem is also holy to those who profess faith to Allah (al
Quds in Arabic). The mosque, Dome of the Rock, was built upon the very place that
the prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven, according to the Muslim religion. I found
it fascinating and interesting to see that all three religions profess that their holiest
place on earth are all in close proximity to one another. Does this mean anything?...

How can someone travel or live in such a sacred place and still have bad feelings
toward other? These contradictory behaviors appear to me to go against the claimed
holiness of each location and religion. As humans, I wonder what kind of
brotherhood do we project and live? What will Jesus say and do when he comes again
and sees this behavior and attitudes we have for one another? As a Christian, I
asked myself how do we live the love of Christ for our neighbors, particularly in the

Catholicism In America
On January 20, 1961, the first Catholic President of the United States of America was
sworn into office. John F. Kennedy held the office of the president during one of the
most turbulent times in the history of the United States; the Cold War was in full
swing, the Vietnam War was underway, the Civil Rights Movement was gaining
momentum, and America was undergoing a large cultural revolution. Many
important events required a variety of responses, and instrumental in JFK s
administration was his brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, the driving
force behind the focus on Civil Rights, and impactful in his meetings with the Soviet
Ambassador during the Cuban Missile Crisis. RFK continued his political career
after the untimely assassination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being the third son and seventh child, Robert was largely ignored by his father
Joseph, who focused on the accomplishments of Joe Jr. and Jack, but received
much attention from his devout mother. RFK preformed poorly in school, and was
perceived as an awkward loner. Despite this, he developed a keen sense of personal
morality, and was very devout in his faith. Trained as an alter boy, an action he
carried into adulthood, he attended Mass at his private Catholic school more than
necessary, and stayed after to pray, and invited others to Mass as well. Joining the
Navy in 1943, not deploying in the war, and being discharged in 1946, RFK had
been sidelined from the greatest test of his generation...while other men were
fighting and dying all over the world. a fact that never stopped haunting the man
who valued courage above all else. RFK s strong Irish Catholic faith was evident in
his loving and devoted marriage to Ethel Skakel, and their 11 children. Ethel had
absolute and literal faith in the Catholic Church [that] complemented RFK s devotion,
which was not quite as unquestioning.... In Ethel s purity Kennedy may have found
refuge from temptation. This spiritual trust and reliance was important to Robert as
he worked in politics, focusing on

What I learned from the interview:
An Executive Assistant/Office Management wears many hats and many times more
than one at a time. They are not the ones that make decisions but they are the ones
that have to enforce them. The assistant I interviewed is the backbones of her office
and a large part of the college. She works is responsible for ensuring all operations
run efficiently. She has to know the mission, values, and services/products they offer,
she has to know about everything that is going on.
Questions I asked:
What is your role as an Executive Assistant/Office Management? I am the gate
keeper, the organizer, the confidant, not just to my office but also to all the direct and
indirect reports and their assistants. I would say confidentiality is at the top of the list
of most impotent job responsibilities. Just like in a friendship, trust is everything.

The Tax Deduction For Charitable
The federal charitable giving tax deduction was adopted in 1917 with the goal of off
setting war time tax burdens. However, now that the policy has been in effect for
about one hundred years, it is possible to look at weather these benefits and goals
have been achieved. Does the tax deduction actually stimulate charitable contribution
and do the drawbacks outweigh the benefits? The purpose of this paper is to refute
the argument that taxbreaks increase the incentive for donating and to argue that
eliminating the deduction would actually be more beneficial to the federal budget.
In order to understand why Americans get a tax deduction for charitable giving, it is
necessary to look to World War I. In the interest of funding the war,... Show more

The more money a person has or makes, the higher tax bracket a person falls in, the
smaller the individuals tax liability. The problem with this is that the top tax bracket
has gone down from 70 percent in 1980 to 35 percent in 2003, so the percentage of
contributions should have also declined. But they did not. The abuse of the federal
contribution tax is at an all time high, and evidence from taxpayer audits proves that
donators over exaggerate their actual charitable donations.
Politicians and pundits in opposition to the deduction argue that cutbacks need to be
made to the tax break people get for making donations. The country is in such bad
debt that the federal budget just cannot afford to reward charitable giving particularly
when it is mostly the rich who benefit from the deduction. According to an article in
the Wall Street journal, Opponents of cutting back argue that things aren t that
simple. The deduction, they say, is a critical incentive that keeps much needed cash
flowing to charities. And donations have already fallen in recent years at a time
when the need for services is soaring.
The question is of course, why is this so important? The answer is very simple, our
economy is not doing very well right now and it hasn t been doing as well as it
should for the last decade. The evidence is pretty overwhelming on this, looking at
the evidence over the past one hundred years it shows that when tax rates are lover

Britney Spears: Tragic Hero Almost everyone has some type of flaw, but not
everyone s flaw is as drastic as others. Possessing a flaw is completely normal as
long as that flaw is kept under control, not allowing it to cause a major downfall.
Pop star Britney Spears has a drastic flaw that she allowed to get out of hand which
caused her downfall. Since a flaw she possessed caused her downfall, she gained tons
of unwanted attention from the press. This makes Britney Spears fall under the
definition of a tragic hero.

The Color Purple vs. The Joy Luck Club Essay example
The Color Purple is a biased, unbalanced view into the life of black women during
the early to mid nineteen hundreds. While it is obvious that a woman who in her
own right is racist, chauvinist, and ignorant to the way that the world really works

this writer does not agree with this novelor anything that Alice Walkerthinks or feels,

embarrassing male characters.

would pity Lean and see Harold as a money grubbing bastard.
Rich is the second example of a weak male character in The Joy Luck Club, and his

I knew he had failed miserably in her eyes.

The Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin
In our American history many figures have left their mark, and are remembered still
today. Benjamin Franklin was as famous as any president, but yet never elected to
public office. He was one of the nation s revolutionary founding fathers of all time.
Benjamin Franklin was a respected hero of America of many talents and
accomplishments. First of all, Benjamin Franklin was born at Boston in 1706. He
was the tenth sibling in the family. He was the son of a soap and candle maker.
Josiah would father seventeen children in total after having two wives. Franklin had
received some education while young, but would continue learn self taught (Quick
Biography of Benjamin Franklin.) The boy then would serve working with his
father. Franklin went later to work for his brother James as a printer (Benjamin
Franklin His Autobiography 1706 1757.) After helping his brother making pamphlets
and other activities. He then would start to sell the products in the streets. When
Franklin was fifteen the New England Courant was founded. The first newspaper
more or less in Boston. While other news came reprinted from abroad. The New
England Courant held articles of opinions, advertisements, and ship schedules.
Benjamin also wanted to write for the paper; yet he know his brother would not let
him (Quick Biography of Benjamin Franklin.) He cleverly began writing letters and
signing them with an alias name. Franklin would submit and leave the letters at night
at the print shop. In

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1Overview
The modelling and aero elastic analysis of a laminated hybrid composite plate with
SMAs as an actuator is performed within MSc Nastran Finite Element Software. The
term aeroelasticity is the interaction of inertial, aerodynamic and elastic forces. The
interaction of at least two of these forces produces various aeroelastic phenomena
such as divergence, flutter, and control reversal, buffeting and dynamic stability.
However, for this paper is only concentrate on the flutter analysis and to investigate
the potential of SMAs for aeroelasticity improvement.
For acknowledgeable, a hybrid composite material is a combination of hybrid and
composite . The meaning of hybrid in hybrid composite material itself is the
hybridization in macroscopic structure in the metallographic scale. Researchers found
that there are three new categories of hybridization of materials, that is, hybrid
materials. The categorizations of hybrid materials are structurally hybridized
materials, materials hybridized in chemical bond, and functionally hybridized
materials. The composite wings require more advanced treatment that must be based
on a new methodology which handles the modelling complexity arising mainly from
the fibrous nature of anisotropic composites. The most popular hybrid composite is
carbon Kevlar hybrid composite and this is because hybridization of carbon fibre
reinforced composites with Kevlar fibre results in a significant positive hybrid
John Cranach As A Satire Of The Papacy
In sixteenth century Europe, the Protestant Reformation was brought in with
artworks that questioned religion. In this time period, Protestant reformers began to
split from the Catholic Church and challenge the ideas of the Catholic hierarchy. The
artwork embodied much of the cultural, religious, and political environment of the
time in which it was made. Additionally, it embodied the philosophies of those who
split from the Catholic Churchand questioned how society understood what was
right and what was wrong. Satire of the Papacy was an etching by Lucas Cranach in
1555. The work features a satirical take on the Catholic order of Rome. The satirized
depiction of the Pope in Cranach s etching is relevant to the cultural, religious, and
political environment that sixteenth century Europe was experiencing at the time.
Criticism of the church appears in Cranach s etching: he depicts the Pope with three
separate heads and a snake tail. The environment in North Europe was well on its way
to disturbance, change, and separation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Satire of the Papacy echoes the idea that the Pope himself was not the idealized figure
that rightfully declared what was acceptable and what was not. Similarly, the issue of
religious redemption was frequently argued as the church pushed for the purchase of
indulgences and withheld redemption from those who did not attend confession.
Reformers were resolute in their belief that one could achieve religious faith without
the need of the cemented requirements of the church. Suddenly, it became possible
that the Catholic Church s word was not final and

The Pros And Cons Of Abolishment
Introduction
In recent years, the death penalty is still existing in everywhere although there is
less number of convicted offenders than the old time. Some people think that death
penalty is the way to constrain people to do not offend or violate the legislation
while some have an argument that this punishment should be abolished. In this
essay, I will compare two articles. Why Japanese support the death penalty? by
Shanhe Jiang, Rebecca Pilot, and Toyoji Saito (2010)(article 1) and Does it matter if
the Death Penalty is Arbitrarily Administered ? by Stephen Nathanson
(2009)(article2). These two articles are very different. The former article is based on
quantitative research and explains why Japanese people take sides with the death
penalty. However, the latter article is based on qualitative research and describes
capital punishment should be abolished. I propose to summarize the main ideas of
two articles, compare both in many aspects, and conclude in my own opinion.
Summary
1. The purpose of the research
The first article, the main purpose of the authors is apparently on the topic of their
article which is to investigate the reason why Japanese participants support or oppose
the death penalty. The second article, the writer also shows the practice of the capital
punishment. However, this article is related to the abolishment. The aim of this
article is to investigate the debates about the death penalty that is eliminated due to the
The Role Of Subgenre In American Horror Films
Hollywood, more than any other film industry, deserves to be attributed with the
creation of the horror genre. Even though it is not responsible for the first attempts
at horror movies, it certainly shaped the genre into what it is today and made it
accessible to global audiences. The appearance of horror movies happens in cycles
with a distinct pattern that repeats itself a movie appears, delivers thrills to the
audience, and suddenly, due to low production costs, sequels and remakes are made,
or original films based on the same formula. This way, different subgenres are
produced. Eventually, the market becomes saturated and the subgenre dies. As the
1980s came to a close, the American horror filmseemed locked into an endless loop
of formulaic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the classics seem to have fallen prey to the greedy hands of the movie
industry in hopes of collecting profit. A sequel to George A. Romeros Night of the
Living Dead was made in 2004, in 2007 Rob Zombie directed his version of John
Carpenter s Halloween, Gus Van Sant directed the remake of Hitchcock s Psycho
and The Saw franchise is due to get its eighth sequel released in 2017. Hantke calls
this the symptom of the crisis of contemporary American horror film (6). Some of
these films did very well at the box office but most of them didn t, largely due to
the loss of originality and the ability to surprise and shock, which stands at the
basis of every successful horror film. The next step for the challenged horror
industry was the process of transnationalization searching for inspiration outside
familiar borders, more specifically turning to East Asia. The initial phase of J
horror s rising popularity in the United States, for example, was largely driven by a
search, on the part of hardcore fans, for more exotic and extreme forms of horror
film. (Hantke 12) However, Hantke states that this is not an isolated phenomenon,
since Hollywood has always thrived

was healing by itself and once fully healed no scar remained. He rolled his shoulder

Queen Victoria Research Paper
England, 1837, King William IV dies and a young woman named Victoria is
crowned Queen of the United Kingdom. Little did people know, this was the
beginning of the Golden Age of England. Her 64 year reign led to some of the
most prosperous times in her country s history. Queen Victoria, written by Lytton
Strachey, details the life of Victoria and England. Strachey was known as a
founding member of the Bloomsbury Group and the author of Eminent Victorians
when he wrote Queen Victoria. He is said to have grown fond of Victoria while
writing her biography. Strachey describes Victoria having an irresistible sincerity
(265). Alexandrina Victoria was born on May 24, 1819. She was fifth in line for
succession after her father and his three older brothers. This meant that she was
thought of very little in contention for the throne. After a series of deaths and
failures of producing heirs, the throne fell into her lap. Victoria was woken up at
6:00 AM by her mother informing Victoria that her uncle and king, William IV, had
passed early that morning; making Victoria the new Queen of England. Within the
next 2 years, Victoria marries her first cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg and

Many late 19th century European countries had been switching from monarchies to
some other form of government. People had started seeing monarchies as an
outdated form of government. They were sick of poor rulers who only happen to be
there because they were born into the right family. After Price Alfred died in 1861,
the queen stopped making public appearances until the end of the decade. It was
during this time that England saw a transition from monarchy to a republican form of
government. The queen and royal family had assumed a more symbolic role in the
Filibuster Vs Majoritarian Government Essay
Question 2: Filibusters and Majoritarian Government The filibuster is often treated
as a scapegoat in American media and politics. Deadlock in Congress is better
attributed to political division between uncompromising groups rather than specific
procedure. As it stands, the filibuster has grown steadily more lenient since its
original implementation. With this in mind, Congress has performed effectively
before, doing so while encumbered by harsher constraints. Therefore, the fault of
unproductivity can hardly be ascribed to procedural policy alone. With these
considerations, the filibuster must be revised to ensure congressional productivity
while also preserving debate and due deliberation. In 1805, the Senate terminated the
motion to move the previous question a provision which formerly allowed a simple
majority of senators to end debate and proceed to a collective vote. Another
provision Rule XXII, implemented in 1919 later recognized the power of a
supermajority to end debate. Requiring two thirds... Show more content on

The founding fathers maintained an inherent distrust of large government. Despite
conflicting with the majoritarian model, the filibuster demonstrates the original
values and principles taken into account when establishing the United States of
America. The Senate, a lawmaking body formerly elected by state legislatures,
remains representative of individual states rather than majority will. Because each
state sends two representatives, half of congressional senators are elected by less than
twenty percent of the total population. Through intended structure alone, the
government of the United States demonstrates clear preference for the pluralistic
model. In practice, the interests of states carry more influence than the interests of
citizens. Concerning democratic principles, the filibuster is no more undemocratic
than the government

Movie Evaluation Essays.pdf

  • 1. Movie Evaluation Essays Crafting a movie evaluation essay can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in expressing personal opinions but also in the analytical depth required to assess various aspects of a film. To begin with, one must watch the movie attentively, paying heed to its plot, characters, cinematography, sound design, and overall impact. Analyzing these elements requires a keen eye and the ability to articulate one's thoughts effectively. The process becomes even more intricate when attempting to balance subjective impressions with objective critique. Striking this equilibrium is crucial for a comprehensive evaluation. Furthermore, it demands a nuanced understanding of film theory and the ability to contextualize the work within the broader cinematic landscape. Evaluating the director's choices, the actors' performances, and the overall thematic coherence adds another layer of complexity to the task. Crafting a coherent and engaging essay also necessitates the skill of constructing a compelling argument. This involves organizing thoughts logically, providing evidence to support assertions, and ensuring a smooth flow from one point to the next. Integrating quotes, examples, and critical perspectives from experts in the field elevates the quality of the essay but requires meticulous research and citation skills. Moreover, maintaining a balance between personal preferences and broader audience appeal can be challenging. What may resonate with one viewer might not resonate with another, and acknowledging this subjectivity while providing an objective analysis is a delicate task. In conclusion, writing a movie evaluation essay demands a fusion of analytical prowess, critical thinking, and effective communication. The intricate interplay of personal viewpoints with an objective assessment, coupled with the challenge of constructing a cohesive argument, makes this task a complex but intellectually stimulating endeavor. For those seeking assistance in navigating such challenges, similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where professional writers can provide support in crafting well- researched and finely articulated pieces on a variety of topics. The cotton gin was used in the south by slaves to separate the cotton fiber from the seeds. It had teeth that pulled the fiber apart and let the seeds fall out. The north and south, both, were impacted by the cotton gin, but depending on who you ask; workers, slaves, slave/ plantation owners, mills owners; people would have different opinions. In the south there was a few different opinions of people. The slave / plantation owners liked the cotton gin because they were getting cotton cleaned faster so they were able to send it up north to the mill owners. The slave/ plantation owners were
  • 3. Itc Vs Cic Hearing Aids Essay Approximately fifteen percent of American adults have some hearing loss problems and around two or three children in every thousand are born with a loss of hearing. This has lead to the development of a lot of different instruments to help amplify hearing or produce it synthetically. The most common of these fall under the category of either hearingaids or cochlear implants but there are also many others including auditory brainstem implants. While hearing aids do not restore normal hearing they can be extremely helpful to people with hearing losses. Hearing aids can be worn either behind or inside the earand are used to amplify sound that may not be loud enough for a person with a hearing loss to hear. Hearing aids use a microphone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... CIC hearing aids are almost completely unable to be seen because it is covered by the ear canal. Both ITC and CIC hearing aids are extremely difficult to remove and /or adjust because of how far inside or the ear they fit. Because of the small size of ITC and CIC hearing aids, they are not very powerful and so they do not produce as much sound as most other hearing aids. Now almost all hearing aids are electronical. Depending on the electrical devices used they can either be classified as analog or digital. Analog hearing aids transform sound waves into electronic signal. They are made specifically for the user meeting whatever needs are specified by their audiologist. Analog hearing aids are usually less expensive than digital hearing aids. Digital hearing aids transform sound waves into a numerical code. They can be programmed specifically to amplify certain pitches, frequencies, and sounds coming from specific directions. Both analog hearing aids and digital hearing aids can be used in any style of hearing aids. As well as the style and electronic devices, hearing aids can also vary in features. Some of these features include directional microphones, telephone switch, and direct audio input. These features can all either come on the device or can be added to

Would you want your life going inside out then years later have it slowly morph into a life where you are a refugee in America? Well guess what? In Vietnam this happened to so many people. This was a common thing for a refugee. In the article Children of War written by Author Brice and the novel Inside Out and Back Again written by Thanhha Lai, they show examples of different people facing the refugee experience. • 6. Argumentative Essay On Euthanasia The issue of euthanasia occupies an essential place among many legal, medical, religious and other problems. The phenomenon itself is a subject for reflection of public consciousness since human life today is the primary value for the world society. The issue has acquired another way of demand because, about all legal and moral realities, the right to life brings it to the level of universal and global challenges of our time. Advances in modern medicine have changed the attitude towards deathas a one stage phenomenon, doctors today can support the life of patients even in the gravest condition, not allowing him or her to die. For this reason, the previously used criteria for determining a person s death came into conflict with its new scientific understanding, and the role of euthanasiadiscusses the considerable controversy. At the same time, euthanasia is gaining momentum, as every year several thousand people go to another world with the voluntary consent and assistance of doctors and a real euthanasia applied to children and people with questionable testimonies for the termination of life. Therefore, the question of euthanasia today is acuter than ever, complicated not only for reasons of rationale and humanity but also from a religious point of view. The right to die is known since ancient times. The word Euthanasia came from the Greeks which means good death. In the 5th Century B.C before Christianity, suicide, infant homicide, and active euthanasia were all
  • 7. Essay Review of The City of Mexico in the Age of Diaz The Great Divide University of California Berkley geographer and author Michael Johns argues in his novel, The City of Mexico in the Age of Diaz, that the central Zocalo of Mexico City does more than geographically segregate the East from the West, but Mexico s national mentality as well. During the years of Diaz s democratic faГ§ade, the upper classes thrived upon plantation exports, feudalist economics and the iron fist of Diaz s rurales while struggling to maintain European social likeness. East of the Zocalo, shantytowns housed thousands of poor pelados that served as societal blemishes of a suburbanite s experience. No one would undertake the unglamorous task of assisting the poor, but rather they attempted to veil the masses in the shadow of their refined buildings and recent assumption of culture. Another shield of the upper classes was the dichotomy of violence and pacification that the father of Mexico, Poriforio Diaz, bestowed upon the pelados. Robbery and social crimes, such as drunkenness, lead to the imprisonment and shipment of lower class rateros (thieves) to work as hacienda slaves. Johns writes, It also provided workers for hacienda owners В… thousands of these mostly peasant migrants were sent back to the countryside as slave laborers on henequen estates in the Yucatan В… (70). Rurales left the countryside s radicals dead, working, or subdued. However, city police, without all the gaucho flamboyance of the rurales, served as little more than a city joke: The government and the police captains were as concerned with watching their own lawmen as they were with catching criminals (72). This lack of discipline and respect further ripped apart the division in the classes. When little could be done to control the lower classes actions, Mexico City did not turn to the social programs installed by the very countries they tried to mirror. Instead, Diaz lead a strategy beginning in 1866 to pacify the masses with the allowance of social activities like the burning of the Judas s bull fights or parades through West Mexico City. The Postclassical Period CCOT 2012 Changes and continuities from the classical to the post classical cover a wide range of political, cultural, religious and economic shifts as populations grew and societies became more complex. The classical empires of Rome, Han China, Gupta India and Archaemenid Persia fell due to external and internal forces and were replaced by the larger empires of the post classical Byzantine; Tsui, Tang and Song in China and the Caliphates in Persia. In fact the sole purpose of these kingdoms was trade and they were little interested in administering their kingdoms for any other purpose. Conquest as a source of revenue was not needed as they could bring in wealth through trade relations. One of the greatest changes in the post classical period was the rise of Islam that spread across Eurasia and Africa. Even after the Islamic Empire, Dar al Islam, had begun to lose power by 850 Islam continued to spread, unifying diverse societies and ethnicities through the commonality of culture and religion. Changes in political and cultural traditions during the post classical period occurred in Africa because of intensive Islamic contact. When Arab conquerors introduced the Islamic faith into northern Africa, they expanded the region of commerce. Muslim merchants established trading centers for copper, iron, salts, and cotton textiles. The newly established trade affected traditional social and religious beliefs. After 1000 C.E., the kin based social structure experienced difficult challenges. Increased conflict between peoples led to the creation of military forces for both offensive and defensive use. This led to the formation of chiefdoms exhibiting more formal structures of governing such as in the kingdoms of Kongo, Ghana, and Mali. Because most traders were Muslim, many African societies converted to Islam to improve their relations with the

This inspirational quote suggests that adversity provides people with new opportunities and can drive people to improve their life. Adversity comes in numerous forms, such as emotional, physical, and financial. Individuals have a choice to learn from adversity or allow it to break their character. Chapter 2 Literature Review 2.1Introduction This chapter discusses the theoretical framework of the study and is divided into four main sections. The first section describes the recent financial crisis or global economic recession. Section two reviews any similarities between the recent crisis and previous crises. Section three explores the measures taken by governments to prevent a reoccurrence of a financial crisis Section four discusses FDI and mergers and acquisitions. 2.2Financial Crisis/Global Economic Recession As defined by Eichengreen and Portes (1987) a financial crisis tends to be disruptions within financial markets and are characterised by falling asset prices and bankruptcy/liquidation among debtors which spread through the financial system, completely disrupting the markets capacity to allocate capital. It is clear that the crisis had multiple causes such as the financiers themselves especially those who claimed to have found a way to expel risk where in fact they had only lost track of it. Regulators and bankers are also to bear blame because they tolerated this recklessness. The macroeconomic backdrop was very important as years of low inflation and stable growth nurtured risk taking. Some research suggests that European banks should take blame as they borrowed greedily in American money markets pre crisis and used the funds to buy dodgy securities. All these factors together played a major role in the unravelling of the recent financial crisis

There were five main owners who contributed to Buck s evolution, including the Judge, the man in the red sweater, Perrault and Francois, the trio (Mercedes, Hal, and Charles), and of course John Thornton. This is something that hasn t been seen in the book since Buck was living with Judge Miller. London articulates Thornton and Buck s first meeting with a simple, but interesting two paragraphs: John Thornton and Buck looked at each other. You poor devil, said John Thornton, and Buck licked his hand (44). This shows how Buck and Thornton loved each other upon meeting each other. But, the biggest impact Thornton has on Buck is that he shows the soft, compassionate, and cuddly side of Buck. This is because of the classic man dog relationship; which Buck has never truly had. The man dog relationship exemplifies the loving nature of Buck, while other owners have showed the fierce and savage side to Buck. The main theme of the book is Buck s evolution from the house pet to the hunter gatherer and John Thornton loving Buck so much, with that being reciprocated, contributed so much to the theme of the
  • 14. What was the Cause of the Peloponnesian War Peloponnesian War is the name that was given to the conflict between Sparta and Athens. These conflicts lasted from 431 until 404 BC. This is a war brought about by disputes between Athens and Sparta on how to deal with their allies. According to Burn, (123), the Peloponnesian War was between the rivals Athens and Sparta. It was a war ignited by insignificant civil conflicts and spurred by interests from third party cities. Violent disputes erupted between them and the war began when Sparta issued ultimatums to Athens. The Spartans wanted Athens to lift its economic sanctions against the Megara city. Ultimately, Sparta finally won the war by completely destroying the Athenian fleet with the financial help from Persia. A number of reasons caused the war. First, it was because of the ultimatums issued to Athens by Sparta, the Athenians control of the Delian League and their naval alliance, and Athens alliance with Leontini and Corcyra and the contest between Corinth and Athens over Corcyra. The main cause of the Peloponnesian Warwas when Spartans issued ultimatums to Athens. Sparta promised attacks if Athens did not lift its economic sanctions against the Megara city. Megara city was Spartan s ally that was on the West of the Athenians territory. The Athenians had forbidden the Megarians from trading in the Athenian empire harbors (Hanson, 134). This was a blow to both Megara and Sparta because; they got income from trading in the harbors. The dispute over these sanctions

As jurors are incapable of apprehensively comprehending evidence and are vulnerable to being biased by their personal prejudices and excessive media publicity. Correspondingly, many fall victim of escaping trials due to their elongated processes. The concept of the accused being assessed by their peers is very appropriate as they judge merely based on the morals and principles of the society making the law more valid and binding. Whereas, leaving the judgment to someone who doesn t necessarily live in the real world (Love, 2014) may not be so appropriate. Also the danger of getting rid of jury trials is that there will be a perception that someone who is an elite judge is going to be deciding matter, someone that may be in touch with the ordinary community (Harvey 2011). Hence, the jury system ensures the communities ethics, values and morals are implied and safeguards the law is applied in a way that fits in with what the society expects (Love 2014). In opposition, many suggest juries should be scrapped for criminal trials in NSW as jurors are often vulnerable of being swayed by excessive media publicity. This is most prevalent in high profile cases, where it is extremely if not impossible to find jurors who haven t already read about circumstances surrounding it in the media and formed their own opinions about the matter (Nedium, 2015). One such case which strengthens this argument is R v Gittany [NSWSC 138] where the defendant was charged for murder of Lisa Cecilia Harnum under the Criminal Procedure Act 1986 section 132 (NSW) (LIAC,2013). Both films have a cause and effect situation to them that lead us in confusion and suspense throughout the films. In Donnie Darko the audience are left at the ending wondering what would have happened if the plane never crashed into his room? / How would Donnie act or end up if he were to live a longer life. We see the past and present in both films seen through the characters. In Run Lola Run, when Lola accidentally runs into a person, we see snapshots of their futures, which play out indirectly as a response to their interactions with Lola. The atomic battery is certainly not meant for households or as a source of common battery use, but rather powerful equipment needing to run for long, extended periods. Now we will discuss a brief history of early atomic battery development. Henry G. J. Moseley, known for developing the Atomic Number and numerous other contributions to physics and chemistry, created the first known atomic battery in 1913 with his demonstration of the beta cell. He experimented with a radioactive isotope of the element radium, and the respective emissions of beta particles, to form the first atomic battery (source 5). This first crude battery saw minimal success and effectiveness, and it wasn t until 1954 when the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) began studying atomic batteries for the use of small radio receivers and hearing aids that atomic batteries became practical and more potential was realized (source 6). Moving forward to the 1980 s, inventor Paul Brown developed an atomic battery that was much more powerful than most thermal batteries out at the time. Brown used the emission of alpha and beta particles in radioactive materials to create an extremely powerful magnetic field. As discussed before, these alpha and beta particles contain kinetic energy to help collide atomic particles. The energy produced from this system was so rapid and immense that controlling the cell was extremely difficult. This proved to be a towering roadblock for most scientists to continue research for atomic batteries, until Brown was able to invent an approach to encompass the uncontrollable magnetic fields. This battery was so powerful

From this adversity the church and members have had a great impact on western civilization. Being a member myself, I can think of many different stories that have led me to believe that the early members of the church had a rough life. Anyone involved in the expansion westward who was willing to give up their safe lives in the east is a hero in my eyes. One great story that has stuck in my mind is the Mormon Battalion. The Mormon Battalion was a group of 543 men who enlisted for the sake of saving their religious freedom. The Mormons had recently been chased out of Illinois and were going to embark on their search for religious freedom and peace. Brigham Young the new president of the church asked President James K. Polk for assistance to travel to the west . President Polk didn t like the idea of granting them money to settle out of the United States territory. Luckily for the Mormons a man by the name of Thomas Kane came to their rescue. Thomas Kane had connections through his father to the president. He persuaded Polk to make the Mormon Battalion. He was easily persuaded because he feared that the Mormons would fight against them in the war. President Polk promised Young that if a battalion of 500 men were raised, he would offer them aid. To his dismay many of the Mormons felt as though this was a plot to disband the religion

Alex and his wife try to shield Cara Ann from the use of mobile phones, but despite their best efforts she eventually becomes familiar with her father s cellphone. While Rebecca sees this as corruptive, Alex is indifferent. To Alex, technology also has its benefits, which are shown through his successful mission to find promoters for a concert, with the help of a young, technologically savvy assistant, Lulu. At the start of the chapter Egan stresses the fact that handsets for kid have become popular and children have become mass consumers of music, which has led to a change in demand for many genres of music. Objectives And Objectives Of Strategic Management Strategic Management is a substantial wing of the management system of an organisation or company whereby a set of managerial decision and action helps to determine the long run performance and major goals of the organisation or company. Generally, top level management of an organisation is responsible for the initiation and implementation of such decisions and actions based on the available resources and welcoming environment. The strategies involve the formulation and setting of directions, aims and objectives; improving organisational performance; collaborating and executing changes; developing and training the employees etc. It also stresses on the monitoring and evaluation of internal strengths and weaknesses and identifying external opportunities (Adair 2009). On the other hand, leadership is a process whereby a person works through a chain of frequentative action by forming a vision, crafting a set of goals and objectives, setting directions and selecting employees, performing required tasks as long as needed until the goals and objectives are achieved. In order to be a good leader, an individual needs to be diligent, vigilant and resilient in all aspects of policy and strategy making for any specific situation arising with the organization (Atreya 2013). According to Atreya (2013) Strategic management is about setting vision, mission, goals and objectives for achieving excellence and the strategic leadership is to ensure that the results are being achieved.

However, now that the policy has been in effect for about one hundred years, it is possible to look at weather these benefits and goals have been achieved. Does the tax deduction actually stimulate charitable contribution and do the drawbacks outweigh the benefits? The purpose of this paper is to refute the argument that taxbreaks increase the incentive for donating and to argue that eliminating the deduction would actually be more beneficial to the federal budget. The more money a person has or makes, the higher tax bracket a person falls in, the smaller the individuals tax liability. The problem with this is that the top tax bracket has gone down from 70 percent in 1980 to 35 percent in 2003, so the percentage of contributions should have also declined. But they did not. The abuse of the federal contribution tax is at an all time high, and evidence from taxpayer audits proves that donators over exaggerate their actual charitable donations. Politicians and pundits in opposition to the deduction argue that cutbacks need to be made to the tax break people get for making donations. The country is in such bad debt that the federal budget just cannot afford to reward charitable giving particularly when it is mostly the rich who benefit from the deduction. According to an article in the Wall Street journal, Opponents of cutting back argue that things aren t that simple. The deduction, they say, is a critical incentive that keeps much needed cash flowing to charities. And donations have already fallen in recent years at a time when the need for services is soaring. The question is of course, why is this so important? The answer is very simple, our economy is not doing very well right now and it hasn t been doing as well as it should for the last decade. The evidence is pretty overwhelming on this, looking at the evidence over the past one hundred years it shows that when tax rates are lover

The meaning of hybrid in hybrid composite material itself is the hybridization in macroscopic structure in the metallographic scale. Researchers found that there are three new categories of hybridization of materials, that is, hybrid materials. The categorizations of hybrid materials are structurally hybridized materials, materials hybridized in chemical bond, and functionally hybridized materials. Some of these films did very well at the box office but most of them didn t, largely due to the loss of originality and the ability to surprise and shock, which stands at the basis of every successful horror film. The next step for the challenged horror industry was the process of transnationalization searching for inspiration outside familiar borders, more specifically turning to East Asia. Deadlock in Congress is better attributed to political division between uncompromising groups rather than specific procedure. With this in mind, Congress has performed effectively before, doing so while encumbered by harsher constraints. Therefore, the fault of unproductivity can hardly be ascribed to procedural policy alone. With these considerations, the filibuster must be revised to ensure congressional productivity while also preserving debate and due deliberation. In 1805, the Senate terminated the motion to move the previous question a provision which formerly allowed a simple majority of senators to end debate and proceed to a collective vote.
