1. Write College Essays
Crafting a compelling essay on the subject of "Writing College Essays" presents a unique set of
challenges that require both creativity and precision. The difficulty arises from the need to strike
a delicate balance between showcasing personal experiences, academic achievements, and future
aspirations, all while adhering to the guidelines and expectations set by various educational
institutions.
Firstly, the task demands a deep introspection into one's own life, experiences, and goals. It
requires the ability to articulate personal stories and reflections in a way that not only captivates
the reader but also aligns seamlessly with the specific essay prompts or guidelines provided by
colleges. This introspective process can be emotionally taxing, as it involves revisiting pivotal
moments and distilling them into a cohesive narrative that speaks to the desired qualities and
characteristics.
Moreover, the complexity of writing college essays lies in the necessity to showcase a unique
voice. Many applicants share similar academic accomplishments and extracurricular
involvements, making it imperative to find an authentic and distinctive way to stand out.
Crafting a narrative that is both genuine and impressive requires a keen understanding of one's
own strengths and a knack for presenting them in a manner that resonates with the target
audience—college admissions officers.
Another layer of difficulty stems from the pressure to adhere to word limits and guidelines.
College essays typically come with stringent requirements regarding length and format, making
conciseness and clarity crucial. Striking the right balance between providing sufficient detail to
make the essay memorable and staying within the prescribed limits is a formidable challenge.
Additionally, the essay must be polished and free of grammatical errors. The writing should be
compelling, engaging, and reflective of the writer's proficiency in communication. This demands
not only excellent writing skills but also a meticulous approach to editing and revising.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Writing College Essays" is a multifaceted task
that requires self-reflection, creativity, authenticity, and meticulous attention to detail. It is an
endeavor that challenges applicants to present their unique stories and aspirations within the

2. Essay On The Perfect Pearl
The Perfect Pearl
The Pearl in Steinbeck s story of the same symbolizes the corrupting power of
materialism which recently destroys everything worthwhile in Kino s life. In this
book, it takes place in a little town in Mexico called La Paz. This book begins with a
description of the loving family s life of Kino and his wife Juana and there infant son
Coyotito.
One early morning on coast of Mexico, Kinos family was getting ready for
breakfast. When Kino went to check on Coyotito, he loves how sweet his baby boy
looks when he sleeps, but as he began to get closer he was shocked with fear! There
was a scorpion crawling down the splintery wooden rope that held the baby s cradle.
Then a million thought went through Kinos head and he sprung ... Show more content

This was very odd but that s what happens when you have money, people want to
know you so you give them money because your friends. But the worst part is that
they will now be able to make there son s life not just okay but great. This shows that
money changes people, just like drugs do now. When you become wealthy your mind
thinks money, money, money where is the time for family and fun?Kino s neighbors
wonder what they would do if they had found the pearl, and suggest giving it as a
present to the Pope, buying Masses for the souls of his family, and distributing it
among the poor of La Paz. Kino goes to sell his pearl, accompanied by his
neighbors, but the pearl dealer only offers a thousand pesos when Kino believes
that he deserves fifty thousand. Although other dealers inspect the pearl and give
similar prices, Kino refuses their offer and decides to go to the capital to sell it
there. That night, Kino is attacked by more thieves, and Juana once again reminds
Kino that the pearl is evil. However, Kino vows that he will not be cheated, for he is
a man.
Later that night, Juana attempts to take the pearl and throw it into the ocean, but
Kino finds her and beats her for doing so. While outside, a group of men accost
Kino and knock the pearl from his hand. Juana watches from a distance, and sees
Kino approach her, limping with another man whose throat Kino has slit. Juana finds
the pearl, and they decide that they must go away even if the murder was in self
defense.
3. Gm and Avtovaz of Russia
GM and AvtoVAZ of Russia Introduction In June of 2001 General Motors and
AvtoVAZ were sitting down to finally negotiate a deal that they had originally
made in 1999. The joint venture was to see the two companies jointly build and
sell Chevrolets in the Russian market. The Russian market was expected to boom
and account for a significant share of global growth over the next decade. This was
also a step forward to help revive the economy in postcommunist Russia. GM
founded in 1908, was the largest automaker in the world. GM had managed
operations in over 50 countries and sold over $160 billion in sales with $4.4 in
profits alone in the year 2000. GM did have problems of its as their market share had
diminished to a mere 13.6%... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doing business with AvtoVAZ would allow GM to produce a high volume of
automobiles for a much cheaper cost. 2. What institutional or industrial factors
continue to make the Russian automobile market so difficult to compete in? Legal
issues and the government were the two factors that made it hard for and company
to invest interest into the Russian auto industry market. In July of 200 the Russian
Tax Police accused AvtoVAZ of tax fraud. The accusations did not look god for the
largest automobile manufacturer in Russia. They were accused of falsifying and
under reporting vehicle identification numbers. The legal troubles and the way the
government tried to intervene did not promote a positive image for AvtoVAZ. 3.
What strengths does AutoVAZ bring to the joint venture and what does GM bring?
Are they a good fit? Why or why not? AvtoVAZ had to main strengths. The first
strength being the Niva SUV and the other strength being that they were already
the largest automobile manufacturer in Russia. General Motor s strengths were that
of the companies success and willingness to enter a Russia market that could either
be a big success or complete failure. They seemed to be a good fit as AvtoVAZ was
going to be able to produce more cars with the help of General Motors and would be
able to finally establish as an international manufacturer. 4. As a potential partner,
what challenges does AutoVAZ present to General Motors and how has GM managed

4. The Consequences Of School Shootings
After written by Francine Prose is a dystopian novel about a nearby school shooting
and the attempts to become a safer program and school to gain the result that students
feel safer while gaining their education. Following the school shooting, a large
amount of safety measurements and guidelines are enforced to prevent it from
happening at Central High School. In 2013, Everytown which is a gun safety
organization began tracking gunfire in schools and at college and universities
public reports that a firearm was discharged inside a school building or on school
or campus grounds and over the next three years identified 160 qualifying
incidents. (Everytown) This is evidence which shows that this is still a social issue
today. Not only is this social issue turned into a dystopian novel, but is also
depicted in our real world society today as you can see the measures. A social
relation to this can also be 9/11. If you have ever been on a plane dating back
before September 11th, 2001 you would know that security and customs weren t as
dramatic and as much as an uphold until the attack occurred. Since the attack many
security policies were put into force and immediately there was a change to
eliminate this problem from occurring again. Just like the book After the school
started enforcing policies and guidelines to ensure this doesn t happen again. In
the US, school shootings aren t something that is rare, unfortunately, they happen
quite often. Due to the violence the school must enforce rules that may seem
bezerk, in the book rules began to be enforced, for example, the students were no
longer able to wear the color red because the shooters at the school wore the color
red. A societal comparison can be the dress codes enforced in schools today to
eliminate gang alliance, violence, and risky behavior. In the novel, Francine Prose
uses a good choice of diction while developing the tone of the story. When
frightening conflicts happen nearby it tends to affect the individuals involved or
closely surrounded by the event for a period of time. To continue, Thomas s dad
discusses the nearby shooting with his son and states, It s worrisome... I guess I didn
t know how bad things were until the school started sending

The present budget for nation defense spending including the Department of Defense
is around $610 billion. The United States spend more on defense than China, Russia,
Saudi Arabia, France, United Kingdom, India, and Germany combined. The U.S
defense spending accounts for almost 20 percent of all federal spending. We need a
defense budget that matches new security challenges, not the threats of the last
century, stated the article Peter G. Peterson Foundation (2015).

The government plays a role in overseeing the working of the economy, but does
not interfere in its daily functioning. The government needs to provide goods and

department, postal service, etc. to protect its citizens and provide equality and equity.
The government is our primary protector of our rights and they, I believe, is doing an
acceptable job of protecting the citizens of the U.S.
The most interesting topic I earned while doing this exercise was about the role of
the government in a market economy. It is interesting how the government is like the
clockmaker. They watch the economy they have set up for the society, and fix it

I thought the government was a big part of the market economy and that they would

7. Anderson Township Case Study
In 1793 Anderson township was founded by Pioneers near the mouth of the Little
Miami River. The original founders moved west from Green County Pennsylvania.
The township expanded into farming outposts such as Forestville, Sweetwine, Fruit
Hill, (which is the particular section where my house is) and Cherry Grove. Though
out the 1800s, large plots of woods in the area were cleared for hardwood and
riverboat fuel. The clearing of the forest led to a rise in agricultural activities in the
Township. Although the township remained fairly undeveloped until the
suburbanization that took place at the end of WWII, this development was due in
large part to the development of i 275 and i 471 which give residents of the tristate
area direct routs downtown.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two categories both over doubled in number since the 80s. In my data Pasture
/lawn use went up from 10 to 28 sample points and Urban/ pavement points increased
from 18 to 28. Not many points went from something to forest in 2 cases pavement
went to young deciduous forests but that was the only outstanding case of changing
to forest. The points that changed from forest to another category the most
frequently were to Urban/pavement and Pasture/ lawn. I believe that the increase
in population growth in the area and the always increasing real estate
developments around the area many of which have large yards and take up a large
amount of space. In 180 there was a population of 34,510 people living in
Anderson according to the Anderson Township website and 30 years later in 2010
there was around 45,000 residents in the area. Overall Anderson township is still a
grown suburb and will likely continue to grow which in turn will lead to a similar
rate of change in the forest in in the future. Compared to similar sized suburbs around
the tri state area Anderson has much more forest space but Anderson overtime will
begin to look like the surrounding suburbs and turn into a bland suburban waist

10. Forecasting Method
Abstract
Companies forecast in different ways and for different reasons. For the sake of my
current employer, some of the reasons to why they forecast is to ensure that there are
plenty of cellular phones in stock or even to make sure that the company has enough
numbers to assign to customers when they purchase wireless service from us. The
following paper will compare and contrast various forecasting methods while also
elaborating on the method that my current employer use for forecasting sales and
mobile identification number (MDN) requirements.

Casual relationship is a situation in which one event causes another. If the event is
far enough in the future, it can be used as a basis for forecasting. A good example of
this would be a casual relationship between student enrollment and teachers in a
university. If the enrollment of students is higher than normal than it would cause for
additional teachers to be hired and vice versa. This is considered a casual relationship
since additional teachers would not have been hired if enrollment was not up
therefore the high enrollment causes the increased staff.
Now that I have defined each of the forecasting methods discussed within this paper,
I will now compare them to each other. Of the methods discussed in this paper,
Delphi has no comparison to any of the other three methods of forecasting. Delphi
forecasting is used in conjunction with experts and hypotheses rather than gathering
information from other sources and analyzing them. At the same time, Time series
and Casual relationship forecasting has similarities because each is dependent on
another aspect. Though Time series focuses on the seasonal aspects of things, casual
relationship could very well be dependent on the seasons. For example, the Time
series forecasting is big on farmers for planning their crops; however bad weather
would cause a casual relationship between the two. This reasoning is due to the fact
that the forecast
11. Small Cap Diaphragm
In the recording session, listening to all the tracks, I chose two different microphones
from the MXL 800 series the large and the small caps diaphragm. Both microphones
were condenser microphones. Listening to both microphones at the track I discovered
few interesting facts between them. First, I mange to listen to the smaller cap both on
the recorded hammer part of the pianoand the recorded strings and I find that both
microphone had different sound. For the small cap that was recorded on the hammer
of the piano sound decent yet it sounded little muddy. It sounded like when it had
an insert plug in of a chorus or modulation that when the key was stroked the sound
was aggressively vibrating, the piano s sustain was little aggressive Picturing if
there was a lot of sound waves combined together. Also it sounded as if the piano
was played in a small room which the sound sounded much tied. Next, the smaller
cap on string recording, sounded much more balanced. It sounded tied yet the every
note on the piano sounded realistic. Moreover, the dynamic range was wide enough
that it was easy to listen to especially it had good amount of bass and harmonics of
the piano. The microphone sound more open rather than narrow sound like the
hammered one.

The microphones produced many important elements such as larger diaphragms
records more sound of highs and lows yet I learned it has a disadvantage if it records
too much sound for example on the strings of the piano, it can sound very muddy and
bombarded with different frequencies. Similarly with small caps on hammers can
cause trouble when concentrates too much on one area which it becomes a dominant
sound overall of the recording. Furthermore, this I came to acknowledge the fact that

12. The Worst Recession Of The United States
At the end of the 20th century, it was clear that the United States national economy
was on a incline. The U.S began winning the worldwide arms race, holding 50% of
the world weapons stockpile (Taylor 10). Capitalism, the main trademark of the
United States economy, spread like a wildfire across the majority of the world
(Taylor 10). To the uneducated ear, news like this sounds great; the United Statesis
slowly taking over the world. However, this insane growth was actually poising the
U.S. for an extreme downfall in the coming years of the early 21st century. The
major downfall would come to be known as the worst recession in our history since
the infamous Great Depression. While there are several speculated causes to the
recession of 2007, one cause that stands out is the housing bubble burst. As the
housing bubble burst and trillions of dollars worth of toxic mortgages began to go
bad in 2007, fear spread through the massive firms that form the heart of Wall Street (
Meltdown ) . The first repercussions of the housing bubble bursting were the floating
rumors about the investment bank, Bear Stearns. The rumors of the bank s imminent
bankruptcy were so abundant, that they became a self fulfilling prophecy ( Meltdown
). In an attempt to save the bank, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernankecreated a
deal with JPMorgan ( Meltdown ). This deal stated that the federal government
would use $30 billion to cover Bear Stearns questionable assets tied to toxic
mortgages

The Blame of the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
Who or what do you blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? I blame the Feud
without the family feud Romeo and Juliet would have never had to hide their love.
Without the feud, Tybalt would have never tried to fight Romeo. The tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet was caused by the feud between the two families Montague and the
Capulets, and Tybalt and I also blame Lord Capulet.
I blame Tybalt because if Tybalt never started to try and pick a fight with Romeo.
When Tybalt started the fight, he said Romeo, the love I bear thee can afford No
better term than this: thou art a villain. (Shakespeare 119). This quote is saying that
Tybalt thinks that Romeo is a villain and he feels no love for him. Romeo s friend
Mercutio fights and is killed by Tybalt, a psychopathic Capulet cousin who is
gunning for Romeo. Romeo kills Tybalt. The Prince of Verona banishes Romeo.
(Romeo and Juliet s Death trip). Tybalt wanted to start a fight with Romeo but
Mercurio stepped in and defended Romeo when Romeo wouldn t defend himself

himself and to avenge Mercutio and kill Tybalt. Which in turn caused him to get

14. The Extinction of Pleistocene Mammals Essay
During the late Pleistocene, a mystery occurred in which large mammals went extinct
in North America while they survived in other parts of the world. Scientists studying
the late Pleistocene extinction provided a plethora of explanations, including overkill
by humans, extraterrestrial events, and climate changes (Faith and Surovell, 2009).
However, there was no unified explanation that they all agreed upon. Taking note of
this, J. Tyler Faith and Todd A. Surovell conducted tests to discover whether the
extinction was a single event or a long term process. Their findings were important to
other scientists in the same field, as they served as a guideline for their explanations
of catalysts of the extinction.
Scientists in this field have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some scientists have attributed the extinction to an extraterrestrial event. In 2009,
another group of scientists found nanodiamonds in the sediment layer dating back to
the Younger Dryas a period of glacial dewarming. Because these nanodiamonds
needed conditions similar to that of cosmic impacts to form, they concluded that a
large group of comets might have impacted the Earth, causing the Pleistocene
extinction (Kennett et. al, 2009). Although the research done on late Pleistocene
extinctions was extensive, the conclusions for these explanatory models contradicted
one another.
Amid these conclusions, Faith and Surovell derived their question from the fact that
one cannot develop explanations for this phenomenon without knowing whether the
extinction was a long term process or a single event. They hypothesized that the
extinction during the North American late Pleistocene was a single event that
occurred between 12,000 and 10,000 radiocarbon years B.P. (Faith and Surovell,
2009).
In order to test their hypothesis, they created a statistical test. The statistical test
used data of the occurrences of the fossils of extinct Pleistocene mammals in layers
of rock and terminal Pleistocene radiocarbon dates for a given taxon, or taxon dates.
These dates were all rated as reliable or of intermediate reliability. They found a
pattern in the data specific to North American Pleistocene mammals: the last

16. Gender Roles A Self Fulling Prophecy Essay
This cycle can negatively impact the author s life and the reader s life, whether they
know it or not, because as they read or write harmfully gendered relationships, they
subconsciously affirm the truths portrayed in the fiction and spread these beliefs to
other readers. In other words, damaging genderroles appear right and natural, because
they are so often depicted in the media as right and natural, with relationships healthy
based on equality being rarely offered as the alternative. This makes heteronomrative
gender roles a self fulling prophecy with people performing these stereotypes, because
they are presented as the norm. If feminized male characters serve as the stand in for
the female reader, then fanfictions that depicts the feminine as mentally and
physically less able than the masculine must contribute to this vicious cycle as well.
In addition, the masculine gender roleoften exemplifies the type of behavior
considered natural for men. In American culture, part of this natural masculine gender
role assumes that men will be complicit ,if not actively participating, in patriarchal
culture and the poisonous values often associated with it. The traditional masculine
model is made to seem so right that men portraying this gender role, and the women
reading about this gender role, are made to believe that the domination and
exploitation of women, and even other men, is not just expected, but demanded
(Carter 2011). Within the Hannibal fandom, this type

peoples to conquer and or exploit present day, less developed countries. The prologue
of the book introduces the first exchange between local New Guinean politician, Yali,
and Jared Diamond that took place twenty five years before publishing Guns, Germs,
and Steel. Yali then expresses a puzzling question regarding different peoples
progression and chronological events leading up to the exploitation and colonization
of other countries, Why is it that you white people developed so much cargo and
brought it to New Guinea, but we black people had little cargo of our own (Diamond,
14). In response to Yali s question, Diamond makes known that there are obvious
answers: ...the rise of capitalism, mercantilism, scientific inquiry, technology, and
nasty germs that killed peoples of other continents... (Diamond, 10), but unfortunately
these answers are classified as proximate causes, not an ultimate elucidation. Diamond
explores the idea as to how these components of colonization and world domination
arose in western Eurasia rather than in another world region. Diamond s four ultimate
causes follow a 19th 20th century approach on human behavior and development
called environmental determinism; Environmental determinism claims that the
physical environment caused human activities and development. Diamond sees
animal and plant availability as certain world regions head start or an ultimate cause
20. Perception In The Truman Show
The film The Truman Show portrays an array of the ways of knowing continuously
throughout. One of these ways can easily be deciphered as intuition. The essential gut
feeling can swallow up any other reliable source solely because of a certain
unexplainable phenomena pulling the heart and mind in polar directions. Initially, it
is Truman s intuition that over powers his refuting thoughts and this is demonstrated
when Truman explains his theory to Marlon, who then proceeds to invalidate it. This
leaves Truman empty handed and with a lack of reliable sources, except his intuition.
The memory of Sylvia s statement was the bases of Truman s instinctiveness and
other events such as the sight of his dead father further developed this gut feeling.
The authenticity of these events cannot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the start of the film, Truman believes that he has a clear understanding of the
reality in which he is presented, but only through his mere sight. Eyes have a
tendency to be deceiving, therefore, it should take more than one out of the five
senses to be reassured of a particular belief. The film follows Truman as he soon
begins to become skeptical of his surroundings, which in turn become the initial
cause of his route to discovering the truth. The doubt that beings to form within
Truman, caused by his sense of sight, could not support him entirely until it merges
with his sense of touch. This is heavily depicted in the duration of the final few
scenes where Truman s ship collides with the sky. Despite Truman seeing the solid
plaster wall as a supposed sky, the moment he touches the wall with his bare hands,
his theory is comprehensively validated through the act of him breaking down into
tears with utter shock from realization. Forms of sense perception were put forth in
order to convince Truman of his ignorance to the falsehood of his alleged

One of the new AASL Shared Foundations: Engage (2017) is that librarians
implement organizational policies and practices related to censorship, materials

Foundations Engage sect. para. 4). Subsequently, librarians demonstrate their
leadership capabilities through implementing and disseminating information to their
school on guidelines for students use of digital tools and libraryresources.
Furthermore, librarians have a critical role in ensuring that their school is complying
with the Children s Internet Protection Act. Moreover, school librarians are also
responsible for ensuring that all students have equitable access to diverse materials.

However, as a school librarian, I also need to create policies that do not restrict
students right to access information from a variety of perspectives. Safeguarding and
promoting students right to access information on diverse and controversial subjects
is also another component of my future policy for students use of the Internet.
Accordingly, I will need to verify that the blocking software that the school uses is not
blocking information specifically due to its controversial nature such as LGBTQ
issues, or contentious political viewpoints. The American Library Association asserts
(2012), Anything that restricts access to information based on viewpoint or content
violates the First Amendment (p. 23). Consequently, a critical component of my
future role as a school librarian will be verifying that the filtering software and the
acceptable use policy of my school are not infringing upon the students right to access
information from a variety of viewpoints.
The digital divide has a pervasive and negative effect on students from lower
socioeconomic backgrounds. Subsequently, the policies and practices that I
implement in the school library should help alleviate the deleterious effects caused
by students lack of access to digital resources. Furthermore, by simply extending the
hours that the school library is open, I can provide students with greater access to
assorted digital resources as well as Internet access. Equitable
22. The Toronto Transit System And Municipal Transit Agency
Over the past several years, Toronto has struggled to find new dedicated streams of
revenue to fund its regional transit system, all while Metrolinx, the provincial transit
agency is developing the province s Big Move plan in hopes of connecting the
Greater Toronto and
Hamilton Area transportation system. The province stopped funding the TTC s
operating funds in 1996 and since then, the City of Toronto has relied on a subsidy
from the city and fares to balance this. Later in 2006, Metrolinx was created by the
Province of Ontario as the first
Regional Transportation Agency for the GTHA and in 2016, Move the GTHA
reveals a $30 billion funding gap which begs the questions of who should fund the
regional transit system and by what mechanisms? It is very hard for a city as large as
Toronto to keep up with its funding for regional transit without much efforts from the
provincial or federal government. The Toronto Transit
Commission (TTC) is falling behind on a massive deficit when funding its Operating
Budget.
Only two thirds of the TTC s Operating Budget are covered by fares. These fares
generate about $1.1 billion of the TTC s $1.6 billion operating budget. The rest
primarily comes from a city subsidy, which is $428 million, up from $411 million in
2013 according to Jennifer Palisoc
(Palisoc, 2014). With the continuous struggle of efforts to get Toronto s transit system
back up on its feet again, the Province of Ontario created Metrolinx; an organization
23. Lupe Garz An Ethical Dilemmas
An ethical dilemma is defined as a moral issue, where a situation has two equivalent
undesirable alternatives and neither choice will resolve the ethical predicament.
Lupe Garza, mother of two children, is a temporary employee at a plant. Garza is an
excellent and talented worker, and supervisors have taken notice in her skills. A
human resource specialist named Sara Jones, mislead Garza in thinking she would
unquestionably obtain a permanent job position at the plant, causing Garza to turn

Mark Solomon s conflict is whether he should hire or let go of the illegal worker,
turn Garza into the authorities, or just ignore the situation. After the interview,
Mark is faced with an additional ethical dilemma, the knowledge of other workers
working in the plant under different names. Now, the human resource specialist
must face, whether the plant should stop hiring temporary illegal workers and run
into staffing problems, or continue hiring these workers and face legal allegations
by breaking the law. The plant is breaking the Immigration Reform and Control Act
(IRCA). The law was passed to control or prevent illegal immigration in the United
States. Furthermore, the law prohibits employers to knowingly hire unauthorized
workers. The plant is breaking the law because they are responsible for reviewing,
confirming, and verifying employee s eligibility. The plant needs to use the I 9,
Employment Eligibility Verification, which assist employers in identifying if
workers are citizen or non citizens of the United States. Another law the plant may
be violating is the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Title VII of the Civil
Rights Act. This law forbids discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or
national origin (Noe, Hollenback, Gerhart Wright, 2011). According to the case, the
plant employs approximately 1,500 workers and one third of the workforce is
Hispanic (Fransson, Gareett Noll, 2005). The plant mostly hires Hispanic to
24. First Things First, By Stephen R. Covey
Over the span of my life I have already set a variety of goals, some achieved, others
not, but I will continue to set daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals for the rest
of my life and strive to achieve as many as I can. Out of the many successful goals I
have experienced, there are two that I have achieved that stick out to me. The first
occurred during the end of my sophomore year in high schoolwhen I got the role of
flute section leader in the Pride of the Vikings Marching Band. In order to reach this
particular goal, I had to attend section leader camp, which was every day after
school for one week in May. At camp we went over how to teach people how to
march and how to hold their instrument correctly. We also had to learn the correct...

Covey s suggestions about setting and achieving goals. In his life, Covey was an
American author, keynote speaker, and businessman. In chapter 7 of his self help
book titled First Things First, he discussed the four personal endowments and how
they relate to the characteristics of effective goal setting. The four personal
endowments include, imagination, will, conscience, and self awareness. All of
these are necessary for successful goals. Imagination helps you visualize your
possibilities, whereas your will is what pays the price. Your conscience is the
deeper connection of your goal to the mission. On the other hand, self awareness
means you know how much you can handle and what you can do. Covey states that
goal setting is a complex but powerful process. He suggests that we set daily,
weekly, monthly, yearly, lifetime, organizational, personal, long term, and short
term goals. According to Covey goals should be measurable, specific, and time
bound. My goals to be assigned the role of flute section leader and to be accepted
into the all city honor band had those three characteristics. They both were
measureable, because I either became section leader, or I didn t, and I either made
it in the group, or not. Both were also specific and time bound because they had a
timeline I had to follow, in detail, when my auditions and practices were. Covey also
explains the three vital questions in goal setting. The first is What, which deals with
what you want to accomplish. This focuses on growth and contribution. While
setting both of my music goals, I was focused on growing as a musician, and
contributing to my band to do my part to make fun and emotional music. The second
question is Why, which is about why you want to achieve the goal. This is the key to
motivation and gives people the strength and energy to keep trying. My main
motivator was myself, and making

26. The Power Of The White House Essay
Webster s Dictionary defines power as the ability to do anything; ... capacity for
producing an effect; ... a wielder of authority, strong influence, or rule. In my
opinion, power is the ability to produce an effect from people, places or things.
Thunderstorms are strong mixtures of air and water that can cause a powerful
effect on weather. The White House is a place that stands as a symbol of what
America as a country represents; which can produce a powerful effect, either
positive or negative, upon the emotions of those who see it. And finally, there is an
organization of people within a society who wield their impact through the
decisions they make, the government, that defines the influence of the effect of
power on those to whom it governs. The concept of power has come to be
associated with the terms wealth, authority and government. Much of what is
studied in the field of political science is defined by the parameters created to
express the concept power and how well it is used to distribute wealth and
authority. It is important that the ideas that symbolize the characterization of power
can be defined within a set of parameters that are readily relatable because the basis
of political science is the study of the theory and practice of politics, which can be
broadly defined as the determining of the distribution of power and resources. John
Emerich Edward Dalberg, Lord Acton, is often quoted for his famous opinion on this
subject: Power tends to corrupt and
27. The Decrease Of Forest Cover And Forest Resources
Introduction
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries of the world with a
population more than 150 million. The rate of population increase is decreasing in
Bangladesh but still it is high enough to create immense pressure on different sectors
like agriculture, forestry, economy etc. To fulfill the demand of increasing population
more agricultural lands, buildup areas, settlements, roads and highways are necessary.
These development activities will definitely corroborate the decrease of forest cover
and forest resources in Bangladesh. It is evident that global climate is changing and
Bangladesh is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world due to climate
change. In the near future temperature will increase, sea level will rise, and
incessant rainfall events will increase in a whole there will be an accentuation of
extreme events. These extreme events will affect the forest resources and
biodiversity of Bangladesh. For example only 0.5 meter sea level rise will inundate
the whole Sundarbans. So for ensuring habitat and sustainable environment for the
present and future generations of the country amelioration of forest and forest
recourses, conservation and identification of biodiversity and increase of forest cover
up to idea limit are necessary. Forest Resources in Bangladesh

In 2015 Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was in a difficult position. The once
formidable competitor in multiple facets of the personal computer market had seen
its strong profits turn negative and its debt totals rise. The company was finding it
difficult to compete across multiple markets with due to a number of factors. The
most important of which was a series of weak product offerings, which created a
larger gap in the quality of AMD s products when compared with the competition.
AMD had once held large market shares in both the CPU (central processing unit) and
GPU (graphics processing unit) markets. Each of these products combine in the
personal computer to allow users to take on more demanding tasks such as video

IBM insisted that Intel provide a second source of chips as to avoid
overdependence on one supplier. In 1982 Intel and AMD signed a technology
exchange agreement to make AMD that second supplier. This agreement only gave
AMD access to the second generation or 286 chip technology. In 1984 Intel
attempted to cut AMD out of the process with the 386 family of chips. AMD filed
for legal action claiming that this was an attempt to create a monopoly and settled in
1987. This would not be the last time that AMD would seek legal action to prevent
Intel from creating a monopoly.
In 1991 AMD filed an antitrust complaint again claiming that Intel was engaged in
unlawful acts designed to secure and maintain a monopoly. In 1992 a court ruled
in AMD s favor and awarded $10 million as well as the ability to license Intel s 386
designs without paying a royalty. Finally in 1995 AMD settled the rest of its legal
disputes by agreeing to a deal that gave AMD a shared interest in the x86 chip design,
which is still being used today in personal computers. This agreement required AMD
to develop its own products with the x86 design. The company released its first
creation under the x86 architecture in 1999.
These agreements did not mark an end to the conflict between the two companies. In
2000 AMD complained to the European Commission that Intel was using overly
abusive marketing programs. This
30. Queer Theory Essay
LGBTQ criticism or Queer theory is very diverse and interpreted in different ways.
Generally, it focuses on identity and gender and deconstructs society (politically,
socially and economically through different lenses of not just gay or lesbians, but
transgender and bisexuals too). Also what normativity is, who is excluded from it
and how it portrays to different people. Queer theory is very complex, for there are
not limitations and there is not a single perspective. This theory is relatively new and
often misunderstood. It is very beneficial in the fact that that it covers all different
types of sexuality, which feminism fails because it only covers discrimination of
women (lesbians, heterosexuals and bisexuals). It has a poststructuralist mode along
it is supported by different binaries on whether a certain gender (male or female) is
heterosexual or homosexual.
The problem with queer theory is the lack of education that heterosexuals have for
this theory. Tyson speaks about his students having a lack of knowledge about the
author s personal lives (whether they are heterosexual or not). Tyson states, the
readers are given little biographical information about a writer s lesbian or gay sexual

That has enabled Mango to expand rapidly in international markets as well as

with the current laws, a Naturopathic Physician cannot be a primary physician. There
are still many wonderful Naturopaths working in Wisconsin, and I see one of those
Physicians. However, they are limited in their scope of practice because they do not
have licensure, and in most cases have to work under a licensed health professional,
which means they do not have the complete autonomy that they deserve. This can
make it hard to treat patients who need certain treatments. In addition, they are often
blocked from using certain modalities that would help the patient because they are
not licensed to use that modality. When Naturopathic Physicians are not allowed to
treat patients to the furthest extent of their abilities, the patients lose. It is important
that patients throughout the US have the opportunity to receive Naturopathic

In this paper, I will discuss the concept of simplicity in War and Peace by Leo
Tolstoy. That simplicity is narratively shown by character Platon Karataev (Platon

Platon and Pierre are inmates to one another. Platon shows up in Chapter 3 of Book

People
Satire is a method used by multitudes of authors and other artists for a plethora of
different reasons. The ways that this method of literature is used is varied, and it is
always interesting and somewhat difficult to find out exactly why these texts are
written. A specific author who is known for utilizing satirein his works of literature is
Jonathan Swift, whose hard hitting essay A Modest Proposal For Preventing the
Children of Poor People in Ireland, from Being a Burden on Their Parents or
Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Publick is one of the most
popular and analyzed texts within the world of satire, and truly makes one think
about the art. One article that explores Swift s use of satire within A Modest
Proposal is Paddy Bullord s The Scriblerian Mock Arts This essay delves deeply
into Swift s works, and the art of satire in itself and is a great way to explore Swift
s work. The main question about Swift s A Modest Proposal that will be explained
and explored through this paper is this; what prompts Swift to write about his points
using irony and satire, even though satire is a method that metaphorically goes over
the head of its readers?
Swift s view on satire can be seen through Paddy Bullord s article, where he explains
how Swift felt about the art. Bullord states that many satirists refer to satire as
something potentially effective, but ultimately something that can easily backfire on
the author. As Bullord says, Jonathan Swift did not hold

showed that with new technology rapidly growing, computer science has not only
become extremely important to the medical science field, it has become an extremely
vital part of the life science field. Now that we have accomplished this, to adequately
concentrate on this we will continue our research by further conducting a review of
more literature on the underlying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these new methods and approaches need computing technologies...such as:
(i) high performance architectures and Systems... (ii) distributed computing... (iii)
computational simulation...(iv) algorithms (theoretical and experimental aspects); (v)
applied bioinformatics (analysis pipelines, tools, applications); (vi) artificial and
computational intelligence (machine learning, agents, evolutionary techniques, bio
inspired methods) (Beretta, Cannataro Dondi, 2015). Each one of the next three
research studies that we will be analyzing relates to our current research study, due
to the facts they all are a part of the actors use, depend on computer science to
continue to increase the quality of life. The performers in the life science field
consist of clinicians, biologists, biomedical engineers, bioinformaticians and many
other interested in life science related topics, and of course patients and (more in
general) citizens (Veltri, 2015, p. 29). Each one of the three new research studies on
conceptual and theoretical knowledge article are influenced by Beretta, Cannataro

40. Overfishing Research Paper
The Overharvesting of Marine Organisms and its Impacts The overharvesting of
marine organisms has been an ongoing issue since the mid 20th century, but has
never been more prevalent until the present day. Fishing in the 20th century was a
massively rapid growing industry. Because of international efforts aimed at
increasing the availability as well as affordability of foods rich in nutritional value,
government intervention took place to increase the availability of fishspecies to the
human population. With the implement of policies, government loans and support,
there was a dramatically huge increase in industrial fishingeventually making marine
organisms the world s primary source of protein rich foods. This was good for a
while, but obviously, good things never last too long. Overfishing, as defined by
Pepjin Koster, occurs when more fish are caught then can be replaced through
natural production (Koster, 2012). The balance of life in oceans is affected, and the
social and economic well being of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Population wise, overharvesting harms the environment for the fish that depend on
currently existing species for survival. Extinction of one species means the depletion
of food for another messing with the entire food chain in the process. Overfishing
threatens biodiversity, and without it, the coexistence of remaining species and
humans will become more difficult. Humans will either have to depend on new
sources for food, or lessen their consumption to an extreme extent in order to allow
for the regeneration of marine species. Remaining species will also begin feeding off
of other things to survive, eventually leading to a possible extinction of additional
marine species. Many vitally critical commercial populations of fish for example, the
Atlantic Bluefin tuna have dwindled to the extent where they are at high risk for
extinction if nothing is done to remedy the situation. The depletion of top
41. Comparing Poe s The Raven And Annabel Lee
POEtry Analysis Essay
Edgar Allan Poe was a writer who wrote many poems and short stories. His poems are
well received and are loved by many people. Poe s work is usually bleak and sad. Two
of his well known poems were The Raven and Annabel Lee. The Raven and Annabel
Lee have many similar themes and subjects.
Most of Poe s poems are sad and deal with grief and depression. The Raven themes
are depression and grief, the poem says And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each
purple curtain Thrilled me filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; which
shows sadness. The poem also mentions the death of the narrator s wife Lenore, From
my books surcease of sorrow sorrow for the lost Lenore . The Raven s motifs are
used to create a mood of melancholy and longing by the Raven repeating nevermore .
Annabel Lee s themes deal with love and sadness, the poem says But we loved with
a love that was more than love which displays love. The couple had a strong love
with each other (love theme) but the angles blow a wind towards Annabel Lee which
chills her and kills her which makes the husband fall into a depression (sadness
theme). The subject ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Raven s presence is supposed to represent death and grief, like how the poem
says, Prophet! said I, thing of evil! prophet still, if bird or devil! . The Raven also
symbolizes never ending remembrance. Figurative language used in The Raven is
metaphors and personification. The Raven (Bird) is personification because of
the Raven saying, nevermore . Annabel Lee s imagery is the use of the phrase To
shut her up in a sepulcher, In this kingdom by the sea. . The kingdom by the sea
uses visual imagery and the use of the word sepulcher gives a more descriptive
sense of imagery. Figurative language in Annabel Lee is the use of symbolism. The
main character Annabel Lee is a symbol for Edgar Allan Poes dead wife. The sea is
also a symbol for an ominous and deadly
42. Canadian Shield Case Analysis
Using the Accenture document on governance presented with the Alcan case, place
Canadian Shield in the appropriate quadrant.
According to the Accenture document, I would place Canadian Shield within the
efficient, predictable operator category. The slow rate of change and need to compete
on operational efficiencies characterized by most companies in this quadrant is
detailed by the following quote from the case authors. Sustainability for Canadian
insurance companies greatly depended on investments in projects that increased
customer service and improved operational efficiency. This comment is aligned with
the predictable operator company practices and is evidence that in order to gain a
competitive advantage in the Canadian insurance ... Show more content on

According to the model the IT Monarchy style allows IT executives to hold the right
to make important IT decisions. A more affective mechanism could be put in place
by AC in the form of an IT leadership council that includes corporate and business
unit CIOs.
What do questions 1 2 tell us about IT governance at CS? Is it appropriately
structured for this kind of decision?
As mentioned above, AC and Canadian Shield both reflect signs of the IT Monarchy
style of IT governance. It appears that by letting the same IT manager that helped
create the existing problematic information system called ALPHA spearhead the
project of finding its replacement was a conflict of interest.
In an industry that is heavily dependent on gaining a competitive advantage through
operational efficiencies and consistently delivering value added projects to the
customer, it is essential for AC and CS to rethink the current corporate governance
model.
Across almost all of the major IT governance categories, it seems that CS and AC are
either lacking elements completely or lagging behind current IT standards
significantly. IT principles or high level statements about how to use technology to
create business value is non existent in the Canadian Shield philosophy statement and
hard to identify within the case write up by the authors. Furthermore, the corporate IT
infrastructure and architecture has become so archaic that the
43. Database Management Systems And Databases
Abstract:
NoSQL Databases also referred as Not only SQL databases. These NoSQL database
have these days gained much attention and reputation because of their performance
and high scalability. The advantage of NoSQL database is to store efficiently
unstructured data. These days use of e commerce websites, social networking sites
etc. has been increased. These usage made to create the need to store the large data.
Some companies have adopted NoSQL databases, as their data is growing. Dynamo,
Big table, Voldemort, Cassandra are the NoSQL databases that are used by Amazon,
Google, and LinkedIn and Facebook respectively. Facing these huge data has become
challenging for Relational Database Management Systems. Hence NoSQL database
came into existence. Mostly Relational Database Management System satisfies ACID
properties, through NoSQL database we can achieve high level of Scalability and
performance. As a lot of sensitive data is stored in NoSQL databases security issues
becomes growing concerns. This Paper explains about overview of NoSQL
databases like Cassandra, mongo dB and their security features.
Introduction:
Database Management Systems has some basic requirements. They are
confidentiality, integrity and Availability. Availability means the stored data should
be available when needed. These data should be available only to the authorized
entities called as Confidentiality. If that data is modified by the authorized entities it
is called as integrity. The traditional
44. Diction Of Those Winter Sundays
In the poem, Those Winter Sundays the speaker talks about his father leaving for
labor . Curiously, the father goes to work on a Sunday, the speaker then elaborates
how his father goes to work very early with cracked hands that ached (3). The theme
of this poem is that love does not always appear in a friendly or lovable form. Lines
like I would rise and dress/fearing the chronic angers of that house (8 9), we can see
that the speakerlives in a dysfunctional house and imagery of cold and harshness
cracked hands that ached, (3) blueblack cold. (2). The reader can also interpret that
the speaker and the father have a dysfunctional relationship, the chronic angers of that
house (9) The diction the author uses, can be used to give
45. Compare And Contrast Eukaryotic And Bacterial Cells
When it comes to Biology there are two important types of cells. One type would be
Eukaryotic cells and the second type would be bacterial cells. All cells have four
common cell structures, for example, genetic material, ribosomes, cytoplasm, and
plasma membrane. Eukaryotic and bacterial cells have five distinct structures with
their unique functions. Eukaryotic cells are relatively larger than bacterial cells.
Therefor, Eukaryotic cells have structures that have different functions compared to
bacteria. Flagella, cellwall, plasma membrane, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), and
cytoplasm are structures that are common on both cell types but have a different
function and location due to the size of the cells.
Eukaryotes and bacteria cells both have the common cell structure of flagella.
Flagella is considered a protein. The purpose of the flagella is to help the cell
move. Eukaryotes have a different movement type than bacteria. Eukaryotes move in
form of an s shape. Bacterial cells move like helicopter blades (rotor type
movement). The flagellum of the bacterial cell are a lot thinner the eukaryote due to
the size of the cell.
Bacterial cells and eukaryotes both have a cell wall. The cell wall is what gives
the cells its unique shape and size. The cell wall in bacterial cells are made up of
carbohydrates, proteins and peptidoglycan. The cell wall in bacteria protects the cell
from damages to the cell and has a inelastic shape just outside the plasma membrane.
The cell wall of
46. The Transcontinental Railroad In The 19th Century
The Transcontinental railroad could be interpreted as the most memorable change in
America in the 19th century. The railroad played an important role in the westward
expansion and on the progression and development for the American economy.
When America had acquired the West, the need for adequate transportation rose
considerably. Suggestions dispersed about a railroad that would scope across the
continent from East to West. Republican congresses ruled for the federal funding of
railroad construction, however, all actions were on a standstill for a few years
because of the Civil War. In the wake of the American Civil War
of 1861 1865, the
rush to put together the transcontinental railroad went underway in 1866. President
Abraham Lincolnpermitted the Pacific Railway Act of 1862, allowing two railroad
companies the right to construct the first ever American transcontinental railroad.
While there are several industries, which have left an indelible mark on California
and may be more associated with California in the twentieth century, however no
industry has had a greater impact on the American development of... Show more

Instead, Californians in the 1850s and early 1860s focused on constructing short
railways to replace existing stage, wagon, and steamboat lines. Businessmen
organized elaborate railroad building ventures and advertised their towns as the
future trade centers of the Pacific Coast. The Sacramento Valley Railroad west of
the Mississippi was the state s first operative railroad in 1856. The railway was an
instantaneous accomplishment, as it offered swift transport to the foothill mines, and
soar a brand new town at the end of the road. Although, the route that was initially
planned to go from Sacramento toward Marysville, abolished after 22 miles east into
Folsom, because of financial troubles and other
47. Nihilism And Naturalism
The religious context of The Sun Also Rises is mostly based off of Naturalism in
some cases it can even be viewed as Nihilism. Naturalism is the belief of a soulless
universe meaning everything that exists is all just physical matter. Based off of
these beliefs there is also no God because there is no need for one. Therefore because
there is no Godthere is no purpose or meaning for your life because when you die
you don t go to heaven or hell you just die. Because in Naturalism God is non
existent you would then have to explain the creation of the universe in some other
way. Most Naturalists primarily believe in the big bangand evolution but in this belief
comes the first contradiction of naturalism. The theory of evolution is in direct
conflict with naturalism. For evolution to work it requires life to continuously
multiply in turn giving your life purpose and contradicting the belief in
naturalism.another flaw in the belief of naturalism is that there is no real thought
or soul. Because of this there would be no need for ethics or morals because if we
have no control over our own thought because they are not real than we cant be
responsible for our own actions. If this is true than we should not be sending
criminals to prisons because they did not truly commit the crimes themselves. A
slightly more aggressive or radical form of Naturalism is Nihilism. Nihilism is much
like Naturalism however the differences between the two are very important. One
example of
