Lime can be used to treat soils to varying degrees, depending upon the objective. The least amount of treatment is used to dry and temporarily modify soils. Such treatment produces a working platform for construction or temporary roads. A greater degree of treatment supported by testing, design, and proper construction techniques--produces permanent structural stabilization of soils.
High-Volume Fly Ash Concrete: According to some researchers, more than 30% fly ash by mass (equivalent as 50% by volume) of the cementitious material may be considered enough to classify the mixtures as High-Volume Fly Ash (HVFA) concrete. It is possible to produce sustainable, high performance concrete mixtures with 50% or more cement replacement by fly ash.

The main goal of this project was to replace the conventional Red Clay bricks with Fly Ash Bricks.
We know that Bricks are one of the most important parts of any construction project. With the new advancements of the present construction industry, there is a significant need to incorporate the use of industrial and agricultural by-products and waste products along with the traditional construction materials. Recycling such wastes by utilizing them into building materials is a moderate solution for the pollution issues. Sand is getting depleted day by day and in order to save our mineral wealth, in this study it was decided to use Quarry Dust (Waste material) as a replacement for sand instead of using the top most fertile soil for the process of making the bricks which further leads to declining in agricultural soil and in order to save the top most fertile soil and environment, fly ash as a replacement was used. The main intention behind doing the project on High strength Fly ash bricks is to determine the optimum mixture among all the samples of three different batches in order to use that type of bricks for the construction process. After performing all the necessary tests, it can be readily inferred that the sample consisting of 50% Fly Ash, 40% Quarry Dust, 10% Cement & 15% GGBS shows the highest value of the compressive strength among all the bricks i.e., 15.42 MPa (at 28 days of testing) and in case of Water absorption, it was observed that the least water absorption value is obtained in the sample that consists of 50% Fly Ash, 40% Quarry Dust, 10% Cement and 0% GGBS i.e., 6.40% (at 28 days of testing). In the case of bulk density, all the bricks at the age of 28 days of testing achieve the bulk density in the range of 2-2.2 g/cm3 which is generally taken as the ideal value for brick masonry. After going through all the economical and environmental aspects, it was finally concluded that the sample, consists of 50% Fly Ash, 40% Quarry Dust,10% Cement & 0% GGBS.

Jute & Coir are one of the important fibre crops in India. India is the largest producer of Jute & Coir, contributing more than 60% of the total world production. Besides being the cheapest and the most important material of all textile fibers, Jute & Coir products are bio-degradable eco-friendly with numerous environmental advantages. The Demand of Jute and Coir Products are increasing rapidly because of their environment friendly nature. Jute is one of the most affordable natural fibers and is second only to cotton in amount produced and variety of uses of vegetable fibers. Jute fibers are composed primarily of the plant materials cellulose and lignin. Jute is the name of the plant or fiber that is used to make burlap, hessian or gunny cloth. Coir is a versatile natural fibre extracted from mesocarp tissue, or husk of the coconut fruit. Generally fibre is of golden color when cleaned after removing from coconut husk; and hence named as “The Golden Fibre".

The natural fibers like Banana, Coir, Cotton, Sisal and Jute have attracted the attention of scientists and technologist for application in consumer goods, low cost housing and other civil structures. Nonwoven products are taking the place of many woven and knit materials because of their lower cost and lighter weight. Nonwoven fabrics are also predominate in the geotextiles industry because of their higher permeability, better friction and construction survivability compared to that of woven products point out Niir Board (2000). The fibres apart from low cost and renewable in nature, it is more attractive as reinforcing material for composite says Billie. J. Collien et al., (2001). The use of natural material gives the user or a designer more inspiration and indicates the flow and performance of a product.A study was conducted in three districts of Southern part of Tamil Nadu namely Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi to find out the preference of nonwoven made up of natural fibres such as Jute, Coir, Banana and blends which were low cost and locally available fibers. Seven nonwoven samples were prepared by needle punching process from the selected natural fibers such as Jute, Coir, Banana as 1st, 2nd & 3rd samples Coir and Jute, Coir and Banana, Banana Jute as 4th, 5th, 6th samples and Jute Coir Banana as 7th sample. The study revealed that the country fishermen and company owners were concerned with marine environment and they preferred to select nonwoven made of natural fibres at affordable cost. Introduction
Coir is a biodegradable organic fibre material which is coarse, rigid and strong. The
constituents of coir have been found to be mostly cellulose and lignin. Coir fibre is
weather resistant and resistant to fungal and bacterial decomposition. The rate of
decomposition of coir is much less than any other natural fibre. These characteristics are
attributed dueto the high lignin content in the fibre.
3. Coir in the form of woven mesh mattings or non woven stitch bonded blankets are used
in engineering applications in the geotechnical field. Geotextiles, one among
geosynthetics like geogrids, geonets, geomats, geocomposites etc. used in civil
engineering applications are polymeric. These products have a long life and do not
undergo biological degradation, but are liable to create environmental problems in the
long run.

Coir woven bhoovastra are permeable coir fabrics made from natural coir fibre. Coir
woven bhoovastra control soil erosion by acting as a ground co ver. As a ground
cover. it reduces the flow velocity of runoff water by forming check dams with help of
net structured strands of coir woven bhoovastra in firm contact with soil, which
absorb the impact of water flow and resist washing down keeping the soil intact.

Coir is a 100% organic naturally occurring fiber, from a renewable source obtained from
coconut husk. Naturally resistant to rot, moulds and moisture, it is not treated with any
chemicals during its spinning process for converting it into a yarn. Hard and strongest
among all natural fibers, it can be spun and woven into different types of mattings and
mats. Geotextiles made out of coir are ideally suited for low cost applications because coir
is available in abundance.
7. Coir fibres can be converted into fabric both by woven and non-woven process. Coir
mesh matting of different mesh sizes is the most established coir geotextiles. Mesh
matting having different specifications is available under quality code numbers H2Ml
to H2MIO. These qualities represent coir geotextiles of different mesh sizes ranging
from 3.175mm to 25.4mm.Several types of non-woven geotextiles also exist.

Most of the non-woven mats are made from loose fibres, which are interlocked by
needling or rubberising. Non-woven geotextiles are available in several dimensions
and havea minimum thickness of 2mm.
Coir geotextiles can be used to stabilize the soil temporarily when construction roads
or banks. Coir geotextiles are being used as a separation cum drainage layer in the
road.

It is also intended to serve as a reinforcement material in the beginning of the
project. Geo-synthetics are widely used in the construction of road all over the
world, whereas useof coirgeotextiles is very limited in such construction.

Coir geotextiles are found to provide protection against soil erosion to the various types of
slopes that has been demonstrated and documented by the Coir Board. The ability of coir
fibres to absorb water and to degrade with time is its prime properties, which give it an edge
over synthetic geotextiles for erosion control purposes. The present study was conducted to
determine the suitability of coir geotextiles to increase the load bearing capacity of the mud
wall constructed by the reinforcement of coirgeotextiles.
