CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) is a type of memory that stores BIOS and system configuration settings using a small battery as backup. It can be accessed by pressing Delete or Ctrl-Alt-Esc during POST to view and change settings. The main CMOS setup menu allows configuring options like system date/time, SATA devices, and security settings. If the BIOS password is forgotten, the CMOS can be cleared by shorting the CMOS jumper or removing the CMOS battery.
BIOS (basic input/output system) is the program a personal computer's microprocessor uses to get the computer system started after you turn it on. It also manages data flow between the computer's operating system and attached devices such as the hard disk, video adapter, keyboard, mouse and printer.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

CMOS (complementary metal oxide
semiconductor)
It’s a type of Memory
Backed up with a Battery
◦ Lost battery results in lost configuration
Stores the BIOS and configuration Details
Time/Date
128 bytes of content
Integrated NOT Different
3.
Start the system
By pressing <Del> immediately after
switching the system on, or
By pressing the <Del> key or by
simultaneously pressing <Ctrl>, <Alt>,and
<Esc> keys when the following message
appears briefly at the bottom of the screen
during POST.
4. main setup menu
When you enter the Award BIOS CMOS Setup Utility, a Main Menu, similar
to the one shown below, appears on the screen.
5.
Standard CMOS setup - Options in the original PC ATcompatible.
Bios features -setup Award enhanced BIOS options.
Chipset Features Setup - Options specific to your system
chipset.
Power Management Setup - Advanced Power Management (APM)
options.
PnP/PCI Configuration -plug and Play standard and PCI Local
Bus configuration options.
Integrated peripherals- I/O subsystems that depend on the
integrated peripherals controller in your
system.Supervisor/User Password -Change, set, or disable a
password. Only the supervisor password permits access to
Setup. The user password generally allows only power-on
access.
6.
IDE HDD Auto Detection - Automatically detect and configure
IDE hard disk parameters.
Pc health ststus- displays the current cpu temperature, fan
speed and voltages etc.
Load BIOS defaults – BIOS defaults are factory settings for the
most stable, minimal-performance system operations.
Load setup defaults- Setup defaults are factory settings for
optimal-performance system operations.
Save& exit setup - Save settings in nonvolatile CMOS RAM and
exit Setup.
Exit without save -Abandon all changes and exit Setup.
7.
In the Standard CMOS menu you can set the system clock and
calendar, record disk drive parameters and the video subsystem
type, and select the type of errors that stop the BIOS POST.
8.
Date - set the system date.
Time- set the system time .
Sata 1-configures the connected devices to the
primary sata channel.
Sata2- configures the connected devices to the 2nd
sata channel.
E-sata-1 information- configures the connected
devices to the external primary sata channel.
System information – provide all the information
about the hardware. It also displays the total
memory in the system.
9.
Some time we set the password for the bios and
forget the password in that case we can clear the
cmos using two ways
Using cmos jumper
Removing and reinserting the cmos battery
10.
The easiest way to clear the CMOS is to short the "CLEAR
CMOS" jumper on your motherboard, assuming you have
one (most motherboards do).
Open your computer and look around your motherboard for
a jumper labeled like this. These jumpers are usually
located near the BIOS chip itself or near the CMOS battery.
11. Another way to clear the CMOS
Remove the cmos battery from the system
Switch on the system. In some cases you can access the BIOS
without the password as it has cleared the setting set the
default setting & save restart the machine.
Replace the battery & switch on the system again. Able to
access the BIOS the password.
