This document provides an outline for a lesson plan on teaching multiplication and division to a fifth grade class. The class has 22 students, with 40% African American and 60% Caucasian. No students have learning impairments. The objectives are for students to understand multiplication and division by watching YouTube videos, including a song. Students will work in groups to discuss what they learned and practice problems. Their understanding will be evaluated by having students come to the board to answer practice problems in a competitive game.

1. Monday Assure
Analyze Learners:
My class is a heterogeneous mixture of both male and female fifth grade students. There are 13 girls and
9 boys. 40% of the class is African American and the other 60% are Caucasian. My students have no
learning capabilities or physical/mental impairments at all.
State Objectives:
Students will develop an understanding of multiplication and division by listening and
watching YouTube videos on the topic and learning a song. Students will be able to complete this task
within five days with 100% accuracy. Students must obtain this information by this time frame to
participate and complete activities for the rest of the week.
Select Methods, Media, and Material:
The students will watch a YouTube video song and a storytelling video on multiplication and division to
recognize the differences between the two terms.

2. At the beginning of class, I will introduce and describe the terms multiplication and division and their
definitions. I will let them watch the Youtube Videos Long Division Song- Learning Fun and The
Multiplying Multiplication Song, they will then watch the storytelling video with explanation and
examples I have prepared for the lesson.
Require Learner Participation:
Students will get together in groups to discuss what they have learned and will practice singing the
songs along with simple sample problems.
Evaluate and Revise:
One person from each team will come up to the Smart Board and answer practice problems on
multiplication and division. The students will race against the other teams to apply what they learned.
Although they may not get every answer correct, this will be a good way for me to see if they
understand the concepts.
