Analyze Learners:
· General character- I will be teaching a group of eight boys and seven girls, whom are in grades
fourth-twelfth grade, ages ten to nineteen and have all just arrived here in the US from Russia about all
of the festivties of the fourth of July.
· Specific entry competencies- Considering the wide range of age and grade, I will be conducting
interviews with each individual student to get an idea of what they know about Independence Day. I will
also give an entry test to give everyone an idea of what will be to come and what is expected for them
to learn by the end of the class.
· Learning Style-I will be using two different learning styles to make sure every student gets
benefited for each of their preferred learning types. The three types that will be used will be Kinesthetic
so that the hands on learners will benefit, and the other is Auditory since they are all mild to severe
vision impaired, this will give everyone a chance for learning the material in the easiest way possible.
State Objectives:
· Learning outcomes- The expected outcomes for all of the students will be that they will know all
the words to "The Star Spangled Banner", all the colors that are in fireworks, what a parade contains,
and activities you do at cookouts.
· Conditions of performance- They will learn all the words from "The Star Spangled Banner" by
listening and dancing to the song. Learn all the colors that are produced in fireworks by listening to a
podcast and watching/listening to a documentary on the production. They will learn all things pertaining
to parades by having our own miniature parade inside the class with crafts and music. Lastly they will
learn the activities that we do at cookouts by playing games, YouTube videos, and eating some of the
foods.
· Degree of acceptable performance- I will be expecting the students to learn all of these activities in
a week’s time with a 90% accuracy, with review including a final evaluation at the end and onto the next
lesson.
Select Methods, Media and Materials:
· Select available materials- I will be using a lot of the internet, including the podcast, YouTube
videos, and the music.
· Modify existing materials-with the existing material I have, I will make my own videos, and also
make videos with students so I can go back and reflect on day to day progress and make my own
material for future classes.
· Design new materials- By making my material, I will be making the food for the cookouts, and the
crafts such as shakers and costumes for the in-class parade.
Utilize Media and Materials:
· Preview the materials- By previewing the material and having a backup plan, such as multiple
YouTube videos, music and podcast on flash drives.
· Prepare the materials, environment- By previewing correctly, and then preview again right before
the class, it will set an easier environment so that everything is ready, and students do not have to wait
on me to start their learning and activities.
· Provide the learning experience- By having something to do and keeping the students busy, I think
that it will set a positive experience. Also by making the class room friendly to their impairment, it will
give them a sense of comfort and also give more positivity to the experience.
Require Learner Participation:
· In-class and follow-up activities so learners can process the information- have review games or
instruction for the day before to help make sure each student has thoroughly comprehended the lesson.
Evaluate and Revise:
· Before, during and after instruction- Before: initial interview with individual students. During:
Review of the previous day and set daily goals for learning. After: Having students Recite words of the
song, name at least five of the seven colors in fireworks, reenact their favorite part of the parade, and
explain to the class their favorite food and game from the cookout in detail.
· Assess learner, media methods -Assess learners in different ways such as group and individual
evaluations so each student can get a one on one chance to show what they have learned and evaluate
the ways that I taught such as the songs and videos that I used. Then to go along with that, have a group
evaluation so that students will be more aped to say their opinion when less pressured by the one on
one atmosphere.
