Century Model Narrative
The group and I were assigned to the Math & Science pillar of the 6 Pillars of 21st
Century Education. We
soon broke it down into what each individual was going to be assigned. I drew the Importance of Math
& Science in the 21st
Century Education. I began by doing what most students do, I went to Google.
From there I began searching, and finding interesting tid-bits here and there most of them repeating
themselves. The one I saw most often was talking how the United States were behind in STEM programs
and how it is because we are not teaching in the 21st
Century most teachers are still teaching in One-
Room school houses. The way we teach was also noted a problem as we are still doing worksheets and
tests while other countries are learning in the 21st
Century with project based learning and other great
ways to engage students. I also read many items on how we are faced with Math & Science in our daily
lives and many do not notice or take the time to realize what we are even doing. Though, to those who
are behind in Math & Science struggle with these daily items when they come across the situation in
their own lives. That’s how I decided what to put on my slides. When each individual was finished with
our slides we decided to meet in the library to collaborate our slides. In the process, we found two
videos that went along well with our topic and we decided to throw them in the PowerPoint. After we
finished we decided to present on each part of the process we did ourselves.

Importance of STEM Education in the 21st Century

  • 1. CI 350 Zachary Sissel 21st Century Model Narrative The group and I were assigned to the Math & Science pillar of the 6 Pillars of 21st Century Education. We soon broke it down into what each individual was going to be assigned. I drew the Importance of Math & Science in the 21st Century Education. I began by doing what most students do, I went to Google. From there I began searching, and finding interesting tid-bits here and there most of them repeating themselves. The one I saw most often was talking how the United States were behind in STEM programs and how it is because we are not teaching in the 21st Century most teachers are still teaching in One- Room school houses. The way we teach was also noted a problem as we are still doing worksheets and tests while other countries are learning in the 21st Century with project based learning and other great ways to engage students. I also read many items on how we are faced with Math & Science in our daily lives and many do not notice or take the time to realize what we are even doing. Though, to those who are behind in Math & Science struggle with these daily items when they come across the situation in their own lives. That’s how I decided what to put on my slides. When each individual was finished with our slides we decided to meet in the library to collaborate our slides. In the process, we found two videos that went along well with our topic and we decided to throw them in the PowerPoint. After we finished we decided to present on each part of the process we did ourselves.
