The Basco Theater History
The Belasco Theatre is a Broadway theatre located on 44th street. It was opened in October 1907
by David Belasco. When the theater originally opened, it was named the Stuyvesant theater. But it
was renamed the Belasco after David Belasco himself in 1910 when he gave up his other theater
which was then called the Belasco (now called the New Victory). After Belasco s unfortunate death
in 1931, the theater was bought by Katharine Cornell Productions, Incorporation. Later in 1949, the
Shuberts bought the theater. For three years after, the theater was leased to NBC but then after
went back to the original use. The Belasco was designed by architect George Keister and cost

Belasco, the Rocky Horror Show (1975), and Joe Turner s Come and Gone (2009), which
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama attended a performance of shortly after he was
inaugurated. Another significant show was Passing Strange (2008) which spawned a film
adaptation directed by Spike Lee. The musical also won Best Book and was nominated for 7
tony awards during the 2008 Tony Awards. The show was up for the Best Musical Tony but
ultimately lost to the show In the Heights (2008). The show that is currently playing at the

Awards last year. There has been 4 different actors who have played Hedwig in this production so

Biography of J. Gresham Machen Essay
Biography of J. Gresham Machen
John Gresham Machen was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 28th 1881 to parents Arthur
Webster and Mary Hones Gresham. From an early age Machen was taught lessons of the bible
and of Jesus. His family attended a Presbyterian church called Franklyn Street Presbyterian.
(Wikipedia) Machen s father was a lawyer and therefore Machen was considered to be brought up
in a rather privileged home. He attendee a private college where he was educated in classics such a
Greek and Latin.
Machen began his education at John Hopkins University in 1898 where he majored in Classics.
In college he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and was also a member of academic

However, Machen never identified himself as a fundamentalist because he would not embrace
things such as premillennialism and the anti intellectual attitude of traditional fundamentals.(Piper)
In 1929, Princeton Seminary was beginning to sway toward liberal theology, which Machen
opposed. In response to the changes at Princeton, Machen went on to found Westminster Theology
Seminary in order to continue reformed orthodox theology. Later, in 1933, Machen , along with
seven others, were suspended from the Presbyterian ministry. They went on to leave the Northern
Presbyterian Church and founded the Orthodox Presbyterian church. Only a few years later, in 1937,
Machen died at age 56. even though he died rather young, Machen helped shape the conservative
movement against Modernists without being a true fundamentalist. His books, sugh as his textbook
on New Testament Greek, are still used today in modern seminaries. (Haykin)
Machen s thoughts about society and Christianity can be found in many of his own books. The book
I found most useful was entitled What is Faith?. Unlike fundamentalists, Machen believed that
education was highly important in society; yet, he still thought that the most significant part of
Christianity was not throught the church or school. In the introduction of what is Faith? Machen

How an OEMS helps Buy Side firms move beyond the three quotes framework
Jay Zhu
Financial institutions are acting as fiduciaries to their investors and clients. In the execution
process, buy side traders need to demonstrate reasonable steps to determine a best execution
condition, follow their defined firm level best execution trading policy and perform fair dealing to
all client accounts on trades. Broker dealers are obligated to provide best execution opportunities to
buy side clients as well. In the US market, both SEC and FINRA have articulated the responsibility
of broker dealers to provide best executions that are reasonably available. According to CFA
institute s trade management guidelines, best execution is defined as the trading process firms
apply that seeks to maximize the value of a client s portfolio within the client s stated investment
objectives and constraints .
In the recent development of the EU s MiFID II regulation, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
set out additional guidelines on best execution, in its Conduct of Business Sourcebook (COBS 11).
Trading venues, System Internalisers, and liquidity providers are required to publish data relating
to execution quality free of cost. Firms have to publish their top five execution venues annually, and
demonstrate they have complied with the execution policies of both their clients and relevant
regulatory authorities, according to ESMA regulatory technical standards (RTS). It asks firms to take

Mass Media In The 1920s
Mass media during the 1920s united the nation and created an economic boom in new areas of
entertainment and leisure. As technology advanced, new forms of communication and
entertainment began to rise. A variety of new entertainment like radio, magazines, and movies
with sound became common and popular. Over 700 films were produced each year, over 100
million radios were in use, and LIFE magazine had over 250,000 readers in the year 1920 alone.
The demand of new forms of media began to increase due to the thirst to live vicariously through
the personas they see and hear all around them. Mass media in the 1920sunited the country,
controlled individual consumption, and propelled American consumerism. A common culture was
created when movies began to use sound, magazines began to relate to the everyday person, and
radio began to expand and cater to the listeners needs. Movies based out of Hollywood... Show

The Misfit Meaning
In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , written by Flannery O Connor in 1953, you will
find that there are many different aspects and themes introduced into the story such as; mischief,
self conception, grace, and the true meaning of a good man. This story is used to show how
people view others, and about how finding a good man is hard to do which hints the title.
Although this story doesn t have a happy ending, I believe that the intentions and meanings
behind this story are very important in the end. First of all, O Connor uses the theme of mischief
because the criminal s name is The Misfit and the story progresses to show how much trouble
the misfit has actually gotten himself into. I believe the reason why O Connor used the name
misfit to describe the criminal is because he wanted to portray how people judge and view others
based on what they think they know. The Misfit does not always have to describe a bad man but is
also does not have to represent a good man either. That is why O Connor used mischief in this story.
Next, self conception is introduced into the story because the grandmother gets into the car with the
family wearing a hat. The grandmother wants everyone to know, if... Show more content on

The misfit kills because as he says no pleasure but meanness is being a good man . What is the
true meaning of a good man ? It is hard in this story to pick out a character and prove he is a
good man because no one knows the true meaning. Good can mean so many things. It can mean
being nice to someone or sharing things with them. Or it could also mean sparing someone s life
or killing them off because you can t leave any traces behind. It isn t easy to find a good man
anymore these days because no one knows who is considered a good man and who is just trying
to cover up their mistakes. Also, being a good man all the time is not as easy as it

Explain How The Civil War Changed America
The Civil War changed America in huge ways that impacted everyone, even you today. The
Northern leadership and men felt freedom was entitled to everyone and fought to extinguish
slavery. The Southern leadership and soldiers fought to keep slavery and to become independent
from the Union. 620,000 in the Civil War and 644,000 in all other conflicts . According to

a thing of the past. The Civil War redefined America by extinguishing slavery and making every
man a free man and starting a road to a united country The Civil War was a changing point for
every American, North and South. Slavery which held its prominence in the South was ruled
illegal by the North after the war. All Americans were declared free men and women. The
original goal of our country, freedom for every man, was finally fulfilled. The road to recovery
for the African American population began. Even though slavery was a distant memory it still

Herman Melville s, Bartleby, the Scrivener, tells the tale of Bartleby, the new scrivener at a
lawyer s office on Wall Street. In an office of industrious, distressed workers who endlessly
perform mundane tasks due to the orders of the lawyer, Bartleby forms a mystifying exception.
Bartleby baffles his boss and colleagues by responding to requests with his famous line, I would
prefer not to. His response demonstrates an unwillingness to work and a willingness to do what he
truly desires, which is extremely unusual to both his colleagues and their society and creates a
massive social divide between them. Due to the abandonment of those around him resulting from

Life Is Made Up Of Choices
Every day people all over the world share a several universal experiences, and the most common
one of these is choices. Life is made up of choices. I believe life is just a series of decisions we
make, and depending on our choice, must live with the result of that decision. The choices usually
consist of a multitude of possibilities and, whether real or imagined, we must recognize that in
some way the decision will change our life forever. Therein lies the rub. Because there are so many
factors involved with our decision making and with its unknown result, many of us hesitate to even
make a choice, thinking it would be safer and that we d be better off where we are instead of

But with these destiny points firmly implanted in our soul makeup, we also have free will and can
choose how we will live through the situation at hand. For instance, before making a knee jerk

person is behaving a certain way, and you then may choose to react to the situation in a healthier,
constructive way and demonstrate some compassionate.
Market Economy Analysis:
The poem overall makes us aware of being conscious of the choices we make and being

Roles Of Women In The Bible Essay
Unlike many other ancient texts, women in the Bible have a very prominent and important role in
deciding the future of their lineage and often, their nations. However, an initial reading of the Bible
without historical context often leads the reader to the assumption that women often are a
detriment; committing actions that appear deceitful or resulting in punishment. However, if we
approach these stories with their historical context in mind, we see that initial impressions do not
hold true. Women in the Bible work within the restrictions place upon them by their society to
achieve their own goals as well as fulfilling the plan of God. Furthermore, they are instrumental in

Women in biblical times were subject to the rule of their husbands and in the event that their
husband s died, their eldest son would take charge of the household and thus take charge over
their mother. As a result, the advantages and disadvantages of the son mattered to the mother, as
he would be the one to care for her in her old age. The story of Sarah and Hagar demonstrates the
motives and power of women in this regard. Sarah, unable to have children, tells Abraham, The
Lord has prevented me from bearing children; go to my slave girl [Hagar]; it may be that I shall
obtain children by her . As was customary during the time, Sarah could use Hagar as a surrogate
so Abraham may have a son but any children would be considered Sarah s as Hagar is considered
to be her property. It is evident in this that Sarah is ensuring that the lineage of Abraham is
carried on, a crucial aspect of the narrative as well as a crucial aspect of life during biblical times.
If Abraham were to not have a son, there would be no one to inherit the birthright as well as no
one to care for Sarah after Abraham dies. In light of this, it is evident that Sarah is seeking to
insure her own future as well as the future of Abraham s

Separation Anxiety Disorders
There are several treatment options for separation anxiety disorder in children. The golden
standard treatment of separation anxiety and other anxiety disorders is cognitive behavioral
therapy, also known as CBT (Ehrenreich, Santucci, Weiner, 2008). There are a couple of goals for
this approach that involve both the child and parent (James, James, Cowdrey, Soler, Choke, 2015).
These researchers state that one of the goals is for the child to be able to recognize their own
anxious feelings and their physiological responses when they experience anxiety. Another goal is
for the child to have an ability to identify and control their thoughts during experiences that are
anxiety provoking for them. Therapists want children with separation... Show more content on

Also, referrals can be made by the therapist for different mental health services, since individuals
who end their CBT treatment often worry that they ll have the same symptoms. These services will
be helpful for children and adolescents with separation anxiety disorder, since there are high risks
of suicide within this population (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
There are different procedures for CBT that can help children with separation anxiety disorder. A
procedure within this therapeutic approach that is proven to work for children and adolescents with
separation and other anxiety disorders is systematic desensitization, which is an intervention that
decreases anxiety and fears within an individual (Friedberg McClure, 2015). The process usually
entails experiencing something that is anxiety provoking to a client and pairing it with a calming
technique such as relaxation. For this intervention to be successful, hierarchies of anxiety for the
client must be established so that they are being met and all aspects of anxiety must be understood
by the therapist. A cognitive treatment in CBT is imagery, which is a form of relaxation that is
used for decreasing stress and providing relief to the individual (Cully Teten, 2008). This
intervention focused on the individual to gain back physical, emotional, and cognitive control of
their thoughts, and is really affective for forms of anxiety.

Notes On Credit Rating Agencies
Literature review:
Dror Pranes (2008) said that the participants of the market have a divergent expectation. But they
can be classified as optimistic or pessimistic based on set of knowledge. He also argues that the
credit rating announcement does not give any undisclosed information to the investors or the
market. It only attempts to homogenize the investor s belief.
According to Adelson (2012) credit rating plays a vital role in providing an independent opinion
about the creditworthiness of the issuer and bridging the gap between lenders and borrowers.
Lazarescu (2003) says standardising the value judgement in relation to borrowers in the current
scenario of globalisation is contributed by credit rating agency.
De Haan and Amtenbrink(2011) argued that there are flaws in the use of credit rating agencies
judgement in regulation and accounting. The agencies have a substantial impact on the bonds and
their interest. But when the bond is downgraded it is harmful. There will be herd behaviour among
investors trying to liquidate investment. Additionally Mathis (2009) said that the construction of
issuer pays is a critical problem which may result in conflict of interest. This will make the issuers
to shop the ratings. They will go for the rating agency that provides the most favourable rating.
Journal of common market studies (2012) explains that the rating agencies suffer from
shortcomings. The rating agencies maintain transparency about the data sources and the indicators.

Essay Social Contract
The Social Contract
Rousseau s principal aim in writing The Social Contract is to determine how freedom may be
possible in civil society, and we might do well to pause briefly and understand what he means by
quot;freedom. quot; In the state of nature we enjoy the physical freedom of having no restraints
on our behavior. By entering into the social contract, we place restraints on our behavior, which
make it possible to live in a community. By giving up our physical freedom, however, we gain the
civil freedom of being able to think rationally. We can put a checkon our impulses and desires, and
thus learn to think morally. The term quot;morality quot; only has significance within the confines

Thus, the group collectively is more important than each individual that makes it up. The sovereign
and the general will are more important than its subjects and their particular wills. Rousseau goes so
far as to speak of the sovereign as a distinct individual that can act of its own accord.
We might react to these arguments with serious reservations, and indeed, Rousseau has been
accused of endorsing totalitarianism. We live in an age where individual rights are considered
vitally important, and it is insulting to think that we are just small parts of a greater whole. Rather
than make freedom possible, it would seem to us that Rousseau s system revokes freedom.
Rousseau would not take these charges lying down, however. Looking at us in the new millennium,
he might suggest that we are not free at all. On the whole, we may lack any kind of personal agency
or initiative. We often have difficulty interacting with one another in any meaningful way, and it
could be argued that our decisions and behavior are largely dictated to us by a consumer culture that
discourages individual thought.
His system, he might claim, only seems unattractive to us because we have totally lost the
community spirit that makes people want to be together. Citizens in his ideal republic are not
forced into a community: they agree to

SYNOPSIS
KEY POINTS
Early stage disease is generally asymptomatic, whereas advanced disease may present with
persistent abdominal or back pain, jaundice, sudden onset diabetes, sudden weight loss, and/or a
palpable abdominal mass
Smoking, obesity, diabetes, history of chronic pancreatitis, and a family history of pancreatic cancer
are major risk factors.
Diabetes and chronic pancreatitis are comorbidities
Combination ultrasound, multidetector CT (MD CT), and magnetic resonance
cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) offer the highest sensitivity for detecting pancreatic cancer;

Nirvana In Siddhartha
Hesse used Hindu terms and names with their traditional meanings Om, Samsara, Nirvana...,
(Timpe 348) The significance of the words Om, Samsara, Nirvana have a large impact inside of the
book, and the obstacles Siddhartha had to face to attain his main objective of reaching Nirvana.
Samsara, being the cycle of death and rebirth emanates the fear that everyone that does not reach
nirvana is doomed because of the materialistic world. The significance of om lead to sidhartha

The Oxford Dictionary defines samsara as The cycle of death and rebirth to which life in the
material world is bound .(Samsara) Siddhartha finds himself in this material world after falling in
love with kamada, a female escort. He goes against many of his former beliefs and gives in to
the pleasures of wealth and what goes along with it, such as gambling and self pride. Siddhartha
ultimately realizes his error in becoming entangled in the material world and would get no closer
to enlightenment in continuing this life from his dreams. It is in one of these dreams that he find
kamala s songbird dead in its cage. He throws the songbird into the street as if discarding of the
good in his life. He wakes up from this dream with the realization of his wrong doings. He leaves
the city and all the negative associations it came with in order to continue his pursuit of reaching
enlightenment. Throughout the end of his journey Siddhartha continues to miss his son. From
seeing and envying children with their parents and a man with his wife he grasps the love that
ordinary people feel. Sidhartha being consumed by his grief plans to go to Samsara again to find

Similarities Between France and Canada’s Health Care System
Many would agree that a worthy, controlled health system, above all, should essentially contribute
to good health. The responsibility of a health care system is that the organization of people,
institutions, and resources deliver the health care services required and meet the health needs of
focus populations. Another duty that the health care systems stimulate is the reduction of
inequality to race, gender, social status and religion. Each health care systemis different when
looking at specific countries across the world, however some countries are more similar than
others, such as France and Canada s health care system. These two countries have numerous
similarities when examining their health care systems, conversely that does not denote that both
France and Canada are just as equivalent as the other. When observing countless aspects, such as
longevity and infant mortality, as well as a lot of the inputs such as doctors or beds per capita, and
of course the total expenditure on health as a percentage of GDP over the year, it is seen that
France has a better and more enhanced health care system than Canada.
One major issue that differentiation France s health care system opposed to Canada s is the wait
times, French citizens wait minimal minutes compared to those in Canada. Canadians can t
overlook the reality of wait times when it comes to their health care system, it usually takes up to
months for diagnostic tests or MRIs, and for emergency care it can take up to

Ethylene Glycol Poisoning In Cat
Ethylene Glycol also called antifreeze is a sweet tasting, odorless liquid. Due to the sweet taste
cats willingly drink the liquid that has leaked on garage floors or driveways. Only a tiny amount
can result in severe poisoning in cats. The toxic dose in cats is 1.4 ml/kg (Browne, 2016). For
example, a 3kg (6.6lbs) only needs to drink a teaspoon to be lethal. Dogs, poultry, swine and cattle
are other species that can be affected by the toxicity.
When the cat ingests the ethylene glycol is then absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and then
metabolized into the live. As the cat metabolizes ethylene glycol, this glycolic acid is further
broken down into excessive amounts of oxalic acid. That oxalic acid binds to the calcium in the cat
s blood. They combine and form excessive amounts of calcium oxalate crystals. It forms plugs that
block and shut down the tiny tubes that form in your cat s kidney apparatus. The body is not able
to get rid of the waste products; blood levels that include blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine
rise to toxic levels.
There are three stages of ethylene glycol poisoning:

chest cavity it is noted as alimentary lymphoma. Alimentary lymphoma is when it is affects the

Earth Bound Telescopes
Clearly the better and stronger our telescopes and other methods used to evaluate the sky will
result in further discoveries. Not only do we have Earth bound telescopes; we have telescopes in
the sky that can get even closer to other matter whether that be planets, stars, comets, asteroids, etc.
The textbook also notes radial velocity and how the gravitational pull of a planetresults in the star
wobbling. If the wobble happens to occur along our line of sight to the star, then we see small
fluctuations in the star s radial velocity, which can be measured using the Doppler effect (Chaisson
McMillan, 2014, p 371) allowing us to estimate the mass of the planet (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p
371). I found this website: http://www.planetary.org/explore/space topics/exoplanets/how to search
for exoplanets.html that gives three ways. They are noted as radial velocity (already stated); transit
photometry (having to do with the brightness or lack thereof of a star when another planet passes
between it and the Earth(How to Search for Exoplanets)), and Microlensing (stated as the only real
method that is capable of discovering other planets at huge distances from Earth (How to Search for
Exoplanets)). It further notes that while radial velocity can identify them within 100 light years,
transit photometry can identify them more than 100 light years (100 s in fact), and transit
photometry can find those that are thousands of light years away. I need to understand... Show more

Since section 2037 does not apply in this case, and the decedent made the gift within three years of
death. Section 2035(a) invoked to cause inclusion in the gross estate.
Based on section 2035(a), If (1) the decedent made a transfer (by trust or otherwise) of an
interest in any property, or relinquished a power with respect to any property, during the 3 year
period ending on the date of the decedent s death, and (2) the value of such property would have
been included in the decedent s gross estate under section 2036, 2037,2038, or 2042 if such
transferred interest or relinquished power had been retained by the decedent on the date of his
death. The value of the gross estate shall include the value of any property (or interest therein)
which would have been so included.
As a result, the value included in the decedent s estate is still the full property less the value of the
spouse s outstanding life estate.

Erik Erikson s Theory Of The Psychosocial Development
Ashley is six year old and she is in first grade. Base on Erikson s theory, she is in stage 4 :
Industry vs. Inferiority. Industry versus inferiority is the fourth stage of Erik Erikson s theory
of the psychosocial development. The stage occurs during childhood between the ages of six
and eleven. Children at this stage, are learning to read and write, to do sums, to do things on
their own. Teachers and coaches begin to take an important role in the child s life as they teach
the child specific skills. Ashley told Billy that she loves her first grade class. She explained to
Billy that she learned to count by 5 and 10. Also she is able to read books to herself. She cannot
wait to read the princess book series that Billy bought for her. School and social interaction play
an important role during this time of a child s life. Through social interactions, children begin to
develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments and abilities. During the earlier stages, a child s
interactions centered primarily on caregivers, family members and others in their immediate
household. As the school years begin, the realm of social influence increases dramatically.
Friends and classmates play a role in how children progress through the industry versus inferiority
stage. Billy need to know that, at this stage, the child s peer group will gain greater significance
and will become a major source of the child s self esteem. The child now feels the need to win
approval by demonstrating

Reflective Essay On Learning
When it comes to learning, the majority of people have their own way of getting a specific task
done. Since the day that we began learning in school, our ability to learn has developed as we
advance through each grade level. In kindergarten, we were beginning to develop the necessary
skills to memorize simple math and basic English. Once we started in college, however, our ability
to complete long readings and assignments is expected to be ready for the college level. Some
students have learned new learningstrategies while others have kept to the same game plan. Much
of high school is meant to prepare the student for the workload and difficulty of college courses.
Some students push themselves every year to become better learners while others, tend to postpone
assignments until the last minute. Each year the difficulty of the assignments given increases
greatly and our ability to learn new strategies is important to the workprocess. Each student has a
different strategy that they follow in order to complete an assignment. While some students begin
assignments ahead of time and plan ahead, others do not attempt to learn new strategies and leave
their work for last minute. Learning to learn is a process that takes much time and dedication in
order to achieve. In many cases, students stick to the strategies that they know best. Their strategies
can vary from deep reading to simply skimming through the reading. In my case, I consider myself
in the middle of this learning

CARTS Analysis Paper
In order to select the best ideas generated through our collective brainstorm, the group conducted a
detailed CARTS analysis. CARTS is an acronym that stands for Cost, Acceptance, Resources, Time
and Space. Each one the criteria were used to determine the best course of action to get us from the
problem to the solution. The C represents cost; we determined that there were little restrictions
because the components of our solution would not require technologies and materials that we do
not currently possess. Next, we considered the A which stand for acceptance. Every teammember s
ideas benefitted the process, and most of our initial ideas did fit well in the overall workflow of
the major solution. However, we did not agree that creating a time matrix was worth our time
and resources, so we left that one out. The R in the CARTS analysis stands for resources. It has
been determined that the budget, people, skills and other materials needed to make our plan
work is in place. Next, we considered the time and space, the T and the S needed to implement
our plan. Since the scope of our problem is not suspended, the time factor is not really a constraint
for us. The actions step for our solution is skills driven and therefore the execution of our solution
will become more and more effective as it is continuously used. Space, which is the final step in
the analysis, is also not a deterrent from the actions steps of our solution.... Show more content on

Certain models predict that drought activity is expected to increase toward the end of the 21st
century and particularly in the Colorado River Basin (MacDonald Turner, 21260). When the
dam was built in the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre feet) at
Lees Ferry, Arizona which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of
the Colorado River average to about 13.8 14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built
in a period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9
MAF. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF
(MacDonald Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5
to 4.5 MAF in the next 30 50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in
the Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts have been occurring throughout the 20th century
with droughts from 1900 1904, 1924 1936, 1953 1964, and 1988 1991. These droughts are
associated with warmer regional temperatures and the level of warming is deemed exceptional for
the 21st century (MacDonald Turner, 21257). Recently the Colorado River has experienced the
lowest 5 year mean flows on record (MacDonald Turner, 21257). If river flow is low, so is Lake
Powell s water level. One study suggests that Lake Powell have a 50% chance of receding to
inoperable status by the 2020 s

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Alternative Dispute...
There are different forms of alternative dispute resolutions, each having advantages and
disadvantages. The key to understanding the advantages and disadvantages of the forms of dispute
resolutions is the be knowledgeable of the meaning and the use of alternative dispute resolution.
Alternative Dispute Resolution is said to, offers parties alternative means of resolving their
differences outside actual courtroom litigation and the costly preparation for it , (Jennings, M.,
2015 pg. 101). Arbitrationis one form of dispute resolution. Arbitration is defined as the, oldest
form of ADR and was once the most popular form of alternative dispute, but its increasing costs
and time commitment have found businesses and lawyers labeling it, no different from litigation
(Jennings, M., 2015 pg. 101). The advantages of arbitration include; the members of both parties
agree to have the same arbitrator, someone both sides trust. Other advantages include; the
process of arbitration is quicker than waiting on a court date, the fees are not expensive as it is
when paying court fees, there is very limited chances that an appeal will happen, and there is
more privacy in arbitration compared to having a trial. The disadvantages of arbitration are; once
a decision is made it is final because both parties gave up the right to an appeal, in some cases the
arbitrator fees can be more expensive depending on the evidence needed, any evidence can be
considered in arbitration unlike in court

The water you see around you, flowing freely, sparkling in the noonday sun, quenching your
thirst, bathing you, providing you with life is all limited there is no place on this planet where
new water springs up from a source. Water has been recycled by nature over and over again since

How Mr. Evans is going to engage a lot more people is never mentioned. Perhaps when we reach
critical levels of toxic elements in our water table than the people will become more involved.
Drinking water is different in that we take it into our bodies. We need this water to live. If the
water is undrinkable due to heavy metals, such as nitrates from farmers, or mercury from power
plants, or by pollution from some other source of industry than the available drinking water
becomes scarce. Informing the public is not enough to engage the people. Battles have been fought
over water rights for many years from the Plaines Indians, cattlemen and ranchers all the way up to
Mulholland stealing water from Owens Valley. Now the fight is between Environmentalist,
Industries and the Government. While they discuss whether EPA reports tell the whole story, there

In all of these instances illusion plays a key role in a way for the characters to do away with the

Williams does include some who face reality. Stanley Kowalski, Stella s husband, is strictly a
reality based character. He is constantly looking into Blanches real past. He sees through all of
her illusions and wants the truth to things. This is proved in the rape scene when Stanley turns
Blanche into the victim as she had made herself out to be throughout the play. Eunice the

Obviously this was not a concern with the overall well being of her children. It was merely a way

Furthermore, the mother in law was also denied any sympathy from Elizabeth. Although Elizabeth
acknowledged the mother in law moaning (Mansfield 2327) in her grief, she never expressed
concern for the mother in law s well being. She was so caught up in her own feelings that she
failed to consider her family. Although the family of the deceased was Elizabeth s family and Laura

In the presence of the dead men, Laura and Elizabeth never referred to the deceased by their

Various Aspects Of Augmented Reality Essay
1) Introduction
The purpose of this report is to explain various aspects of Augmented Reality. This Report briefly
describes the technology used, types, applications, cost of implementation, merits and demerits of
Augmented Reality.
Suppose you have a gadget, which displays information about the things you look at. For example,
you focus on a hotel and it displays everything available on internet about that hotel like its menu
and reviews by customers, or points towards a stranger sitting in front of you in the bus and it
displays his facebook profile etc. Not only these things this technology has much greater
possibilities. Figure 1: Retrieved from http://images.google.com/
Augmented reality (AR) is the combined view of our surrounding with digital information
superimposed on it. It superimposes details about that particular thing available on internet, some
images and videos and GPS data. As a result, this technology improves the user s ability to see
the real world things by providing all necessary details in front of his eyes to him. The major point
that distinguish Augmented Reality from Virtual Reality is that Virtual Reality completely
overlaps the real world with simulated one while Augmented Reality allows the user to view the
real world with just small alterations to include details of particular things. So, from user s point
of view both real and virtual world would exist at same place. The advance augmented reality
technology can recognise various types of

This particular book collected data from the students about which type of food they liked most and
used pictures of the food to represent that number.
The bar graph was introduced after the picture graph. The information used in the picture graph was
transferred to a bar graph to show the students the same information in a different format.
The line graph was introduced at the end of third grade, but not in much detail. In this edition, the
line graph is used to display a person s height from birth to 10 years of age.
The circle graph, also known as a pie chart or graph, was introduced after the line graph. The
example in the book was someone keeping track and showing how they spend their day. This is a
good example of how to get the students involved. They could easily keep a schedule of their day
and make a circle graph. That sounds like a great extra credit project to me.
Other skills introduced in this book includes using tally marks to collect the data for your charts,
using number lines to introduce negative and positive numbers, and using that number line to solve
problems.

The And Political Foundation For Lay Participation
The historic and political foundation for lay participation in criminal jury trials is that it offers an
important check on judicial and political power exercised exclusively by the government. The jury
s role as a popular body for oversight of government becomes especially important when individual
citizens or groups have been accused of committing serious crimes against their own government.
After the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and the passage of the 2001 Patriot Act in the United States and
similar anti terrorismmeasures imposed in other nations in the world, serious terrorism charges have
been brought against their citizens, political dissidents, and civic activists. In Australia, for
instance, after the passage of the Anti Terrorism Act in 2002, two separate juries examined charges
of terrorism. In Australia s first ever terrorism trial in 2005, the all citizen juryacquitted Zeky
Mallah, 21 year old supermarket worker, of terrorist charges of preparing to storm government
offices and shoot officers in a supposed suicide mission . In the second highly controversial trial,
in which the government s only evidence was the defendant s confession extracted at a Pakistani
military prison, the jury found Joseph Thomas guilty of charges for intentionally receiving funds
from al Qaeda. However, soon after the verdict, the appeal s court reversed all of his convictions
because it determined his coerced confession at a foreign prison to be inadmissible .

Dispositional Optimism Research Paper
Utilizing Dispositional Optimism Life is tough. Life forces humans to endure in a universe that
may be completely random and nothing in it may hold any meaning aside from the arbitrary value
that I attribute. Moreover, if nothing means anything in life, then there is no true reason in living.
We are all just postponing the inevitable great equalizer we call death. Why not just skip the
hardship, pain, and suffering that exists in this world and get straight to a place where we cannot
feel its horrors anymore? When thinking thoughts such as these, I expect to find that such a
negative, pessimistic disposition might not yield beneficial results. Conversely, one might infer that
an host weilding an optimistic disposition will have a greater... Show more content on

My chosen empirical articles, relevant course material, as well as personal experience have all
produced evidence which supported the idea that practicing dispositional optimism would benefit
me. I indeed have improved the way in which I attain a goal that I want to achieve. I plan to further
establish this mindset while continually striving toward and improving how I realize my goals.
Sustaining this optimistic mindset might be a difficult task; I expect to reap a constructive outcome

Using Conditional Copula to Estimate Value Risk
Review: Using Conditional Copula to Estimate Value at Risk
ActSc 991 Project
Changwu (Allen) Chen April 14, 2014
1
1 Introduction
Value at Risk (VaR) plays a central role in risk management. By definition, VaR is the maximum
expected loss of a portfolio over a given time horizon with a certain confidence level. VaR can be
seen as a quantile on the lower tail of the distribution of portfolio returns. Although VaR is a simple
measure, it is not easily estimated.
There are several approaches for the estimation of VaR, such as historical simulations, the variance
covariance, and the Monte Carlo approaches. The first approach does not assume any underlying
distribution, whereas the last two approaches demand the joint distribution to be known, which
frequently assumed to be normal distribution. However, the deviation from normality could lead to
an inadequate VaR estimate. In this case, the portfolio could be either riskier than desired or
unnecessarily conservative.
The theory of copula is a powerful tool in modelling multivariate distributions be cause it does not
require the assumption of joint normality and it is a marginal free model. Copula have been broadly
used in the statistical literature. And due to its simplicity and convenience, one may be interested in
its application in the financial area.
In this paper I will first give a brief summary of the paper written by Helder Parra Palaro and Luiz
Koodi Hotta [1]. Then I will discuss the key results presented in the paper

Auditing Standard No. 18
Auditing Standard No. 18, Related Parties
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board adopted a new auditing standard concerning
related party transactions, significant unusual transactions, and a company s financial relationships
and transactions with its executive officers (PCAOB Standard No. 18, 2014). The goal of these
new regulations is to improve auditor performance requirements with regard to evaluating and
responding to the risks of material misstatements associated with related parties (Cohn, SEC, 2014).
Investors will benefit from these new adaptations to the auditing standards because the auditors will
perform a more thorough examination of related parties resulting in a better understanding of these
relations (Cohn, PCAOB, 2014). The old standards in these areas were seen to be insufficient by the
Board. If action was not taken, the transactions with these close relationships could increase the risk
of material misstatements in a company s financial statements. The new auditing standard and
amendments we adopted today address transactions and relationships that have been contributing
factors in a number of financial reporting frauds, said James R. Doty, PCAOB Chairman.
Subjecting these areas to enhanced auditor scrutiny may help avert corporate failures and avoid
harm to investors (PCAOB Standard No. 18, 2014). Doty also pointed out that Enron was brought
down by related party transactions and a company, Dynegy, was almost destroyed by significant

Allusions In Of Mice And Men
Have you ever wondered if anyone in the world has the same personality, traits as you? Do you
think they have done similar things like you? John Steinbeck s novella Of Mice and Men shows
a similarity between characters in Genesis 2 and in the novella. As Emma Lee states in her
article, Five reasons that the Bible will help you understand Of Mice and Men , Steinbeck
makes allusion to The Garden of Eden as it s presented in the story of Genesis 2 when Eve was
deliberately compared to Curley s wife as both suffered terrible consequences. Steinbeck makes
these allusions with the sole purpose to show the comparison of the different characters in The
Garden of Eden and Of Mice and Men. Moreover, the characters are similar in the way they
represent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George and God for example, they both gave instructions in what not to do. George told Lennie
for the start they met Curley s wife that she s a jail bait and a rat trap. In other words, George is
wanting Lennie to stay away from Curley s wife because she s no good, she ll tempt him and
get both Lennie and George in trouble. Likewise in The Garden of Eden, God specifically told
Eve not to eat from the forbidden tree. However, both Lennie and Eve don t meet the criteria of
following the rules and they end up facing the bear consequences. This allusion is shown
between George and God and that they gave rules, to follow to right path but it didn t succeed.
Moreover, the story of Cain and Abel is yet another allusion to Of Mice and Men, specifically
about George and Lennie. Based on, Five reasons that the Bible will help you understand Of
Mice and Men by Emma Lee, His(Cain s) question to God once he has killed his brother is Am I
my brother s keeper? This quote demonstrates that Cain has killed his brother Abel, which is
similar to when George kills his brother Lennie. The reference to my brother s keeper can be true
for George as he is the keeper of Lennie. Steinbeck used allusion from biblical ideology wanting
the story to be so much more than just a story, that They help us see that the novel is not just a
simple story, but something with a great deal of

The Bible Study Of Melchizedek In The Bible
Jaicie Cheshier

Mr. Shannon
Bible Study
Melchizedek
GENESIS 14:18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of
God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said: Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor
of heaven and earth; 20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your
hand. And he gave him a tithe of all. (NKJV)
Melchizedek is a priest and king of Salem mentioned three times in the Old Testamentand once in
the New testament. He is first mentioned in the book of Genesis in the fourteenth chapter (See
above). He is said to have met Abraham after a battle victory. He blessed Abraham while feeding
his men who were famished after the battle. In turn Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of his
belongings. In Biblical times this was a gesture showing high religious status. This is significant
because Melchizedek s name means king of righteousness. The next time Melchizedek is
mentioned in the Bible is in one of David s writings in Psalms. It is obvious in Psalm 110 that
David held a strong respect for Melchizedek. He is portrayed as a Christ figure due to his
extreme righteousness. In the book of Matthew, Melchizedek s priesthood is even put in a
category of its own. This is used in a way as a metaphor to represent Jesus new reign and how it is
different from anything that had ever been seen. Hebrews 6:20 states that [Jesus] has become a
high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. In the Moffat

The Misfit Meaning In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , written by Flannery O Connor in 1953, you will find that there are many different aspects and themes introduced into the story such as; mischief, self conception, grace, and the true meaning of a good man. This story is used to show how people view others, and about how finding a good man is hard to do which hints the title. Although this story doesn t have a happy ending, I believe that the intentions and meanings behind this story are very important in the end. First of all, O Connor uses the theme of mischief because the criminal s name is The Misfit and the story progresses to show how much trouble the misfit has actually gotten himself into. I believe the reason why O Connor used the name misfit to describe the criminal is because he wanted to portray how people judge and view others based on what they think they know. The Misfit does not always have to describe a bad man but is also does not have to represent a good man either. That is why O Connor used mischief in this story. As a result, the advantages and disadvantages of the son mattered to the mother, as he would be the one to care for her in her old age. The story of Sarah and Hagar demonstrates the motives and power of women in this regard. Sarah, unable to have children, tells Abraham, The Lord has prevented me from bearing children; go to my slave girl [Hagar]; it may be that I shall obtain children by her . As was customary during the time, Sarah could use Hagar as a surrogate so Abraham may have a son but any children would be considered Sarah s as Hagar is considered to be her property. The responsibility of a health care system is that the organization of people, institutions, and resources deliver the health care services required and meet the health needs of focus populations. Another duty that the health care systems stimulate is the reduction of inequality to race, gender, social status and religion. Each health care systemis different when looking at specific countries across the world, however some countries are more similar than others, such as France and Canada s health care system. These two countries have numerous similarities when examining their health care systems, conversely that does not denote that both France and Canada are just as equivalent as the other. When observing countless aspects, such as longevity and infant mortality, as well as a lot of the inputs such as doctors or beds per capita, and of course the total expenditure on health as a percentage of GDP over the year, it is seen that France has a better and more enhanced health care system than Canada. One major issue that differentiation France s health care system opposed to Canada s is the wait times, French citizens wait minimal minutes compared to those in Canada. Canadians can t overlook the reality of wait times when it comes to their health care system, it usually takes up to months for diagnostic tests or MRIs, and for emergency care it can take up to ... • 24. Ethylene Glycol Poisoning In Cat Ethylene Glycol also called antifreeze is a sweet tasting, odorless liquid. Due to the sweet taste cats willingly drink the liquid that has leaked on garage floors or driveways. Only a tiny amount can result in severe poisoning in cats. The toxic dose in cats is 1.4 ml/kg (Browne, 2016). For example, a 3kg (6.6lbs) only needs to drink a teaspoon to be lethal. Dogs, poultry, swine and cattle are other species that can be affected by the toxicity. When the cat ingests the ethylene glycol is then absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and then metabolized into the live. As the cat metabolizes ethylene glycol, this glycolic acid is further broken down into excessive amounts of oxalic acid. That oxalic acid binds to the calcium in the cat s blood. They combine and form excessive amounts of calcium oxalate crystals. It forms plugs that block and shut down the tiny tubes that form in your cat s kidney apparatus. The body is not able to get rid of the waste products; blood levels that include blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine rise to toxic levels. Not only do we have Earth bound telescopes; we have telescopes in the sky that can get even closer to other matter whether that be planets, stars, comets, asteroids, etc. The textbook also notes radial velocity and how the gravitational pull of a planetresults in the star wobbling. If the wobble happens to occur along our line of sight to the star, then we see small fluctuations in the star s radial velocity, which can be measured using the Doppler effect (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371) allowing us to estimate the mass of the planet (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371). I found this website: http://www.planetary.org/explore/space topics/exoplanets/how to search for exoplanets.html that gives three ways. They are noted as radial velocity (already stated); transit photometry (having to do with the brightness or lack thereof of a star when another planet passes between it and the Earth(How to Search for Exoplanets)), and Microlensing (stated as the only real method that is capable of discovering other planets at huge distances from Earth (How to Search for Exoplanets)). In kindergarten, we were beginning to develop the necessary skills to memorize simple math and basic English. Once we started in college, however, our ability to complete long readings and assignments is expected to be ready for the college level. Some students have learned new learningstrategies while others have kept to the same game plan. Much of high school is meant to prepare the student for the workload and difficulty of college courses. Some students push themselves every year to become better learners while others, tend to postpone assignments until the last minute. Each year the difficulty of the assignments given increases greatly and our ability to learn new strategies is important to the workprocess. Each student has a different strategy that they follow in order to complete an assignment. While some students begin assignments ahead of time and plan ahead, others do not attempt to learn new strategies and leave their work for last minute. CARTS is an acronym that stands for Cost, Acceptance, Resources, Time and Space. Each one the criteria were used to determine the best course of action to get us from the problem to the solution. The C represents cost; we determined that there were little restrictions because the components of our solution would not require technologies and materials that we do not currently possess. Next, we considered the A which stand for acceptance. Every teammember s ideas benefitted the process, and most of our initial ideas did fit well in the overall workflow of the major solution. However, we did not agree that creating a time matrix was worth our time and resources, so we left that one out. The R in the CARTS analysis stands for resources. It has been determined that the budget, people, skills and other materials needed to make our plan work is in place. Next, we considered the time and space, the T and the S needed to implement our plan. Since the scope of our problem is not suspended, the time factor is not really a constraint for us. Estimates calculating the past MAF of the Colorado River average to about 13.8 14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built in a period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9 MAF. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF (MacDonald Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5 to 4.5 MAF in the next 30 50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in the Colorado River is due to drought. The And Political Foundation For Lay Participation The historic and political foundation for lay participation in criminal jury trials is that it offers an important check on judicial and political power exercised exclusively by the government. After the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and the passage of the 2001 Patriot Act in the United States and similar anti terrorismmeasures imposed in other nations in the world, serious terrorism charges have been brought against their citizens, political dissidents, and civic activists. When thinking thoughts such as these, I expect to find that such a negative, pessimistic disposition might not yield beneficial results. Conversely, one might infer that an host weilding an optimistic disposition will have a greater... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My chosen empirical articles, relevant course material, as well as personal experience have all produced evidence which supported the idea that practicing dispositional optimism would benefit me. I indeed have improved the way in which I attain a goal that I want to achieve. I plan to further establish this mindset while continually striving toward and improving how I realize my goals. Sustaining this optimistic mindset might be a difficult task; I expect to reap a constructive outcome ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Using Conditional Copula to Estimate Value Risk Review: Using Conditional Copula to Estimate Value at Risk ActSc 991 Project Changwu (Allen) Chen April 14, 2014 1 1 Introduction Value at Risk (VaR) plays a central role in risk management. By definition, VaR is the maximum expected loss of a portfolio over a given time horizon with a certain confidence level. VaR can be seen as a quantile on the lower tail of the distribution of portfolio returns. Although VaR is a simple measure, it is not easily estimated. There are several approaches for the estimation of VaR, such as historical simulations, the variance covariance, and the Monte Carlo approaches. The first approach does not assume any underlying distribution, whereas the last two approaches demand the joint distribution to be known, which frequently assumed to be normal distribution. However, the deviation from normality could lead to an inadequate VaR estimate. In this case, the portfolio could be either riskier than desired or unnecessarily conservative. The theory of copula is a powerful tool in modelling multivariate distributions be cause it does not require the assumption of joint normality and it is a marginal free model. Copula have been broadly used in the statistical literature. And due to its simplicity and convenience, one may be interested in its application in the financial area. In this paper I will first give a brief summary of the paper written by Helder Parra Palaro and Luiz Koodi Hotta [1]. Then I will discuss the key results presented in the paper ... • 43. Auditing Standard No. 18 Auditing Standard No. 18, Related Parties The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board adopted a new auditing standard concerning related party transactions, significant unusual transactions, and a company s financial relationships and transactions with its executive officers (PCAOB Standard No. 18, 2014). The goal of these new regulations is to improve auditor performance requirements with regard to evaluating and responding to the risks of material misstatements associated with related parties (Cohn, SEC, 2014). Investors will benefit from these new adaptations to the auditing standards because the auditors will perform a more thorough examination of related parties resulting in a better understanding of these relations (Cohn, PCAOB, 2014). The old standards in these areas were seen to be insufficient by the Board. If action was not taken, the transactions with these close relationships could increase the risk of material misstatements in a company s financial statements. The new auditing standard and amendments we adopted today address transactions and relationships that have been contributing factors in a number of financial reporting frauds, said James R. Doty, PCAOB Chairman. Subjecting these areas to enhanced auditor scrutiny may help avert corporate failures and avoid harm to investors (PCAOB Standard No. 18, 2014). Doty also pointed out that Enron was brought down by related party transactions and a company, Dynegy, was almost destroyed by significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Allusions In Of Mice And Men Have you ever wondered if anyone in the world has the same personality, traits as you? Do you think they have done similar things like you? John Steinbeck s novella Of Mice and Men shows a similarity between characters in Genesis 2 and in the novella. As Emma Lee states in her article, Five reasons that the Bible will help you understand Of Mice and Men , Steinbeck makes allusion to The Garden of Eden as it s presented in the story of Genesis 2 when Eve was deliberately compared to Curley s wife as both suffered terrible consequences. Steinbeck makes these allusions with the sole purpose to show the comparison of the different characters in The Garden of Eden and Of Mice and Men. Moreover, the characters are similar in the way they represent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... George and God for example, they both gave instructions in what not to do. George told Lennie for the start they met Curley s wife that she s a jail bait and a rat trap. In other words, George is wanting Lennie to stay away from Curley s wife because she s no good, she ll tempt him and get both Lennie and George in trouble. Likewise in The Garden of Eden, God specifically told Eve not to eat from the forbidden tree. However, both Lennie and Eve don t meet the criteria of following the rules and they end up facing the bear consequences. This allusion is shown between George and God and that they gave rules, to follow to right path but it didn t succeed. Moreover, the story of Cain and Abel is yet another allusion to Of Mice and Men, specifically about George and Lennie. Based on, Five reasons that the Bible will help you understand Of Mice and Men by Emma Lee, His(Cain s) question to God once he has killed his brother is Am I my brother s keeper? This quote demonstrates that Cain has killed his brother Abel, which is similar to when George kills his brother Lennie. The reference to my brother s keeper can be true for George as he is the keeper of Lennie. Steinbeck used allusion from biblical ideology wanting the story to be so much more than just a story, that They help us see that the novel is not just a simple story, but something with a great deal of ... • 45. The Bible Study Of Melchizedek In The Bible Jaicie Cheshier 10/2/17 Mr. Shannon Bible Study Melchizedek GENESIS 14:18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said: Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth; 20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him a tithe of all. (NKJV) Melchizedek is a priest and king of Salem mentioned three times in the Old Testamentand once in the New testament. He is first mentioned in the book of Genesis in the fourteenth chapter (See above). He is said to have met Abraham after a battle victory. He blessed Abraham while feeding his men who were famished after the battle. In turn Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of his belongings. In Biblical times this was a gesture showing high religious status. This is significant because Melchizedek s name means king of righteousness. The next time Melchizedek is mentioned in the Bible is in one of David s writings in Psalms. It is obvious in Psalm 110 that David held a strong respect for Melchizedek. He is portrayed as a Christ figure due to his extreme righteousness. In the book of Matthew, Melchizedek s priesthood is even put in a category of its own. This is used in a way as a metaphor to represent Jesus new reign and how it is different from anything that had ever been seen. Hebrews 6:20 states that [Jesus] has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. In the Moffat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
