The American Prison System Is A Vital Portion Of American...
Merriam Webster defines prison as a building where people are kept as punishment for a crime or
while they are waiting to go to court. In the United States, there is a large prison system consisting of
federal and state prisons. The American prison system is a vital portion of American culture. Crime
runs rampant throughout our country and it is up to our prisons to punish people for these crimes,
maybe even assist in loweingr the amount of crimes that occur. There are several different types of
prisons, separated by gender, and differing through the amount of security depending on the type of
prisoners. Prisons differ from jails as they are long term facilities; criminals may stay locked up in

Numerous prison sentences last several years; even taking decades of a person s life, for countless
people prison is the only life they are familiar with. The U.S. prison system is necessary; however, the
current question is whether it is effective. The prison system should be reformed so that the prisons are
not overcrowded and that prisoners have an improved quality of life in and out of prison.
The biggest issue with prisons right now is that they are extremely overcrowded. This problem is
attributed to the rising crime rate. Currently the crime rate is fairly high, Nationwide, law enforcement
made an estimated 11,302,102 arrests in 2013 (FBI). Not all of these arrests were sentenced prison
time, nonetheless thousands were. 631,200 people were incarcerated in prisons last year (Carson).
Several people argue that the crime rate is lower than it has been, however the best crime rate is 0.
Prisons aid in lowering the crime rate because criminals cannot commit crimes while they are locked
up and currently there are around 2 million criminals not committing crimes (Prisoners), nevertheless
once those prisoners are released they return to a life of crime. Statistics show, two thirds of prisoners
will reoffend (Criminal Justice). One of the main roles of prison is to rehabilitate prisoners so that they
will not commit other crimes; however, it obviously is not working. To alleviate this problem, prisons
should counsel prisoners and educate them on why crime is

Analysis Of The Certainty Of Fools By Daniel Kahneman
Fear of Uncertainty Voltaire once said, Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd
one. We live in a world that is constantly changing and does not grant the certainty that people desire.
But, people want the stability of knowing what is going to happen; this is why certainty is absurd. In
his essay The Surety of Fools, Daniel Kahneman provides examples of people using a phenomenon he
calls the illusion of validity. These people strongly believe their actions cause a specific outcome,
when in reality there is statistical evidence that shows their actions have no direct correlation with the
outcome. While Kahneman argues the illusion of validity comes partially from people s tendency to
make quick decisions without fully conveying the causes, it really stems from people s fear of
uncertainty. The fear of uncertainty is deeply engrained within our society in academia and in our
decision making. Kahneman argues that the illusion of validity comes from fast thinking because it is
prone to doubt. However, he neglects to mention that fast thinking roots itself in the fear of
uncertainty. Kahneman begins his essay by describing his experience in evaluating future soldier s
ability in order to predict what kind of leader they may be. The researchers put the soldiers in a high
pressure environment and judged the soldiers on their actions in a given situation. For example, one
test involved eight men, complete strangers to one another, on an obstacle field and their goal was to
haul a log over a six foot wall. The researchers took note of who took charge, who was stubborn and
how the soldiers interacted with each other. Using those observations, the researchers made
predictions of what kind of leaders they believed each soldier would become. However, follow up
sessions with the soldiers showed that the soldiers may have been overshadowed by another soldier,
just having a bad day or were more outgoing than normal during the challenge. So, the follow up
sessions statistically proved that Kahneman s predictions were not accurate enough to be helpful. As
Kahneman put it, Our forecasts were better than blind guesses, but not by much. So, the research and
observations, while they seemed to

Tom Robinson Character Analysis
In To Kill A Mockingbird the main conflict is the Tom Robinson case. Tom Robinson was accused of
beating and raping Mayella Violet Ewell. The people of Maycomb see Tom in two different ways.
There is the public view of Tom and the private view of him. The public view would include the
people of Maycomb who do not know Tom at a personal level, while the private view would be his
family, Calpurnia, and the other African Americans in the town of Maycomb. The public see Tom as a
dangerous man. For instance in the book it states I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin on my Mayella
(Lee 231)! Mayella even said that He got me round the neck, cussin me a sayin dirt I fought and
hollered, but he had me round the neck. He hit me agin a agin (Lee 241). Both Mayella and Bob Ewell
make the people in the court believe that Tom is some sort of killer or dangerous man who should be
lynched. Even Scout thought that Tom Robinson s powerful shoulders rippled under his thin shirt (Lee
248). Tom was very built, and that did not help his case. Before Tom even gave his testimony most
people in the court and jury believed he was guilty. Furthermore, The public view of Tom Robinson
also includes that he is an abusive man that takes advantage of woman. Such as when Mayella said I
got somethin to say a I ain t say no more. That nigger yonder took advantage of me (Lee 251). After
she said this, Tom became known as a person who would hurt women in an appalling way. Another
example is when Atticus says Miss Mayella, not to be tedious, you ve testified that the defendant hit
you, grabbed you around the neck, choked you, and took advantage of you (Lee 248). Mayella states
all of these facts in her testimony; making Tom look like a untrustworthy man. One part of her story
states that she went in the house to get him the nickel and turned around an fore she knew it he was on
her . (Lee 241) . Mayella makes the chance of Tom being innocent lower with her lies; Tom becomes a
monster to the public view. On the other hand to some he is as innocent as a mockingbird. These
people know the real Tom Robinson. They belive that Tom is a generous and a hardworking man. A
quotation in the story that supports this is

Three Civil Rights Laws Passed In The 1960 s
There are three civil rights laws passed in the 1960s. They are Civil Rights Act of 1960, 1964 and

equality among all human. It prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national
origin and ended racial segregation. In 1964, America was facing racial segregation. The most
infamous way of racial segregation was the legal doctrine in the U.S. constitutional law Separate but

POP ART: Promoting Capitalism Through its Social Movement Viewpoint
Pop Art is portrayed by procedures and topics drawn from mainstream mass culture like comic books,
promotions, and ordinary social articles. This movement is broadly deciphered as a response to the
thoughts of unique expressionism. Pop Art proposed to utilize pictures of prominent rather than elitist
culture in workmanship, accentuating the commonplace components of any given culture, as a rule
using incongruity. This paper analyzes the socially and stylishly subversive character of the
development that changed American art and culture in the 1960s. Giving a generally contextualized
perusing of American pop craftsmanship, this paper finds the development inside the bigger system
more of the social rather than political changes of that decade. What was truly in question, this paper
contends that pop art seeks to instil with good intention that through such social movement elevates
the bleak reality of capitalism.
Pop art is a craftsmanship development that rose in the 1950s and prospered in the 1960s, taking
motivation from sources in prominent and business culture, for example, publicizing, Hollywood
motion pictures and popular music ( Pop Art Around the World ).
It started as a rebel against the overwhelming ways to deal with craftsmanship and culture and
conventional perspectives on what art could (and should) be. Drawing on well known symbolism and

The Russian Mafia Essay
The Russian Mafia
The Russian Mafia: Protectionism in the New Capitalist Russia The Russian Mafia has always
exercised an important role in the Russian economy. The contemporary mafiosi are descendents of the
seventeenth Century highwaymen and Cossack robbers. These men occasionally murdered families
prior to raids preventing them from being captured. The Russia mafiosi made a point to remain aloof
from the state. Mob men were actually spurned when returning home from fighting in the Great
Patriotic War. The gangs begin to dominate markets such as car sales, spare parts, cigarettes, food
distribution, and other markets that the Communist Party failed to provide under the Bolsheviks
(Remnick196). Since the collapse of Communism and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most entrepreneurs purchase the protection. Then the new company pays unofficial taxes to crime
groups. This guarantees that nearly all new businesses will have an affiliation with the mafia.
Gustatson estimates that payments can are approximately twenty percent of the profit (105). This is a
major form of taxation on top of what the government already commands leading many companies to
tax evasion or concealing their exact value. These acts forfeit what little protection the authorities
might be able to render. The mafia demands a cut of the earnings but in turn furnish more than
adequate security. The mafiosi provides protection from unaffiliated criminals and rival gangs. They
ensure that property is not damaged or stolen. If entrepreneurs are visited by another organization,
they must only summon their own mafia group. The two gangs will settle the matter themselves
(Gustatson 105). This security is an asset that the State seemingly fails to provide. The Russian Mafia
has more men and weapons than the Russian law enforcement. The police force is an intently corrupt
place as is much of the Russian government. Both army officers and law enforcers are frantic for cash
and willing to sell weapons such as guns, grenades, and rocket launchers (Remnick 109). The Russian

Marketing in the Global Economy

However, management at Starbucks saw a perfect opportunity to go into a market that had not been
tapped into yet. With that in mind, they decided to add products to their menu that were not available
to the American market and that catered specifically to the local culture. In addition they expanded
their line of tea. By associating with a local company, they penetrated the Hong Kong market with
great success. More recently, the Swedish retail chain, H amp;M launched a campaign for their new
product line and found that some of the pictures in their campaign were too revealing for the Dubai
market. In order to overcome that issue, some of the photos were photo shopped to cover arms and a
hint of cleavage. By adding a t shirt under a tank top and sleeves to a turtle neck, they avoided any
negative imaging and were able to introduce the same product to a different market (London, 2011).
Before global economy became an issue, it was common in the U.S. to see a campaign for a product
done exactly the same no matter where it was. Companies assumed that the message was the same
therefore, why change it? However, when promoting a product to different audiences, it should not be
an assumption that the message will be interpreted the same way, especially if that message is going
worldwide. So in this day and age where technology has such a big influence in what we do, how does
it support the change in

Why does Macbeth decide to murder Duncan and why is he not satisfied with his high social position?
Because his problem is that he is too ambitious. He wants to become king and he refers to that
yearning as ambition:
I have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o erleaps itself And
falls on the other.
Macbeth is fascinated with the idea of being a king but he is also aware of the disastrous price he will
have to pay. He suffers a powerful tension between his desire and his moral sense. But once his
imagination shows him the possibility, he is not able to shrug the desire off. It is one of Lady Macbeth
s functions to keep this vision alive, when she taunts him to act in response to his desires and urges
him to be more of a man. She cannot be blamed for his actions though, as he freely chooses to kill
Duncan, and even before committing the crime he knows what consequences this deed will bring. At
the same time, he cannot live with what he has done and remain the same person. The killing is
continued, bringing even greater suffering on Macbeth as he tries to remove the moral distress. We
witness his gradual dehumanization when he continues to murder in order to get peace of mind, but
instead he loses everything life has to offer:

The Nazi s Under Hitlers Rule
During World War 2, the Nazi s under Hitlers rule had made a decision which was to eliminate all of
the Jews that were in Germany, and in German occupied territories. This was because they believed
Jews to be contamination the pure, aryan Germans. Nazi s started sending the Jews to Concentration

Nazi officials or escape the camps. This was a dangerous task, and not everyone who did it survived.
One German born Jew, Marie Jalowicz, made around 80 tapes, narrating her experiences of running

While they were set free, hundreds of Jewish Women were raped by the Russian soldiers, Marie was

Some ordinary Germans fought to help the Jews avoid persecution, whether it was because of

This paper shows empirical evidence of how a men s college basketball program s revenue is affected
by several determinants. Results are being taken out of sample data from the past eight basketball
seasons. The most important determinants considering a college basketball team s revenue include
advertising, ticket pricing, performance during the previous season as well as the past three games,

College basketball is one of the most popular college sports to attend and to watch. The evaluated
college is compared to other Division 1 programs a smaller college. However, their basketball team is
still very competitive and has appeared in eleven national tournaments, six of which have been at the
NCAA tournament. Over the past decade the program has seen a lot of success but they have also
battled many hardships.
Even though the success of the team has changed throughout the years the one thing that has never
changed is the support from the students, alumni, faculty, and the community. At every home game the
arena is filled with students, alumni, faculty, as well as the local community that attend to watch great
basketball and support their favorite team. In this research article we are going to analyze how the
program s revenue is affected by different determinants. Collecting data of past ticket sales, pricing of
the tickets, as well as the attendance for each game will enable us to determine the amount of revenue
generated from this program. Some determinants that we are going to consider are the advertisement
expenses for each game, the opponent s team quality, the performance of the crosstown rival s
basketball program, whether the games are being held during the week or on weekends as well as the
time of the game, and finally a demographic factor, the Gross State

The peer to peer network is a type of network that does not use dedicated network servers for logging
in users or providing secure access to network resources. This type of network lets clients share
resources and have access to whatever they are sharing (i.e. printers). This type of network would be
an excellent choice for small businesses with less than 10 employees because it enables them to share
resources from their computer. These resources can be files, printers, and Internet connections. This
type of network is a cost effective solution due to having less management or support from outside
experts. This type of network setup and usage is simple, but it is less secure and be vulnerable to
security breaches. The second network is the client server network, which does use a dedicated server.
It uses the dedicated server to centralize users and manage group accounts. In a client server network,
the server controls access to the resources to the other computers on the network and clients do not
talk directly to one another (West, Dean, Andrews, 2015). Users at a client or workstation log on to the
server using their own accounts and passwords. The users can only access resources that they were
given permission for. This type of network is used for larger businesses to meet complex and

Mold Research Paper
Mold is a fungus that grows in the form of multicellular filaments called hyphae. In contrast, fungi
that can adopt a single celled growth habit are called yeasts.
Mold is not an animal or plant, but it is alive. Mold is a living organism and is a type of fungus. Mold
can grow on any food besides bread; this makes it unable to eat. The fungus can grow on ceilings,
walls, and the floors of your house, also can be found outside of your home. Mold grows from seeking
through food, moisture, and warmth. The climate of where you live can affect the mold growth in your
home. The fungi can thrive and can reproduce into damp or wet places in or at your house. Mold
would usually grow from the temperatures forty a hundred degrees Fahrenheit.
Mold has about 300,000 species, and every house or place has mold. There may be even more species
than that, but not all of them have been identified so we are not sure. The fungus s best place to grow
is in a warm climate. The fungus is most likely to start growing in warm or damp spots, and humid
conditions. Fungi can keep growing when it starts to reproduce; this is done when it makes spores.
The spores can survive in the harsh environments, such as dry conditions, but in places that do not
support normal mold growth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Argumentative Essay On Family Guy
Family Guy Created in 1999 by Seth MacFarlane, Family Guy is an adult animated cartoon,
commonly aired on FOX ( Family Guy ). Since its start, 269 episodes have been created; each
teetering on the edge of morality and ethics. It is true that Family Guy is a chat topping, clever, and
properly thought out cartoon; however, it s easy to discern the creator s common use of inappropriate
topics and remarks. Every episode is a new story into the craziness and chaos of the town. This
cartoon is about a small family living on Spooner Street in a made up town called Quahog in Rhode
Island. The characters include a dimwitted father, a desirable mother, a disgusting son, a daughter who
is often harassed by all, an intelligent, democratic dog, and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While a police officer was trying to shoot Peter, it missed and hit a child s John F. Kennedy PEZ
dispenser. He smiles, and says Good thing I still got my Bobby Kennedy PEZ dispenser. Some people
may view this as offensive, because John F Kennedy was a widely liked president who was
assassinated from a shot to the head back in the year 1963 ( John F. Kennedy ). Bobby Kennedy was
JFK s younger brother, was also shot to death five years later ( Robert F. Kennedy ). In another
episode, Peter is on a boat, standing on a stage. He introduces Mr. Bruce Jenner. Bruce Jenner walks
out in shorts carrying a pink feather boa. He starts dancing for a group of sailors, who are awestruck
by the performance. This episode came out in 2011 ( Lottery Fever ), while Bruce did not announce
that he was going to transition to female until 2015 ( Caitlyn Jenner ). Some would say that it pokes
fun at the idea of being gay because it is still an arguable topic. Lastly, there s a scene where Osama
Bin Laden is trying to film a video to send to Americans. He has a very serious attitude, and then starts
laughing and grabs a rubber chicken. This is incredibly offensive to most people, because Bin Laden
helped with the planning of 9/11. Family Guy has no restrictions on humor, and will use any horrible
or disgusting event for their show.
The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has gotten angry at Family Guy numerous times.
The FCC is an agency that monitors radio and television, to make sure it s appropriate ( Federal
Communications Commission ). Family Guy created and episode called PTV , where Peter had his
own television show where he broadcasts his own shows unedited and uncut. He shows content from
previous episodes that made the FCC angry. This episode was Seth MacFarlane s way of getting back
at the FCC and FOX for canceling their show for two

Allegory and Truman Show
Allegory and Truman Show
The Allegory of the Cave has many parallels with The Truman Show. Initially, Truman is trapped in
his own cave ; a film set or fictional island known as Seahaven. Truman s journey or ascension into
the real world and into knowledge is similar to that of Plato s cave dweller. In this paper, I will discuss
these similarities along with the very intent of both of these works whose purpose is for us to question
our own reality.
In his Allegory Plato shows us how a man ascends from the darkness of a cave to the light of the
outside world. In this ascent Plato s man passes through four distinct stages of cognition: from
imagination, to belief, understanding, and finally knowledge.
Imagination

However, his reality is now based on these objects vs. what is truly real. In Truman s second phase he
starts to believe that something is wrong with his world based also on his perception and his common
sense. First, his father Kirk who had been written out of the show years earlier sneaks back onto the
set. This sends Truman into a teenage flashback of his last moments with Lauren a girlfriend that had
tried to tell him the truth before she was written off to Fiji. He also notices that the radio is following
him around and people all around him are acting very strange. At this point he does not know what is
wrong but he knows he is onto something big as he tells his best friend Marlon.
Understanding
Some might disagree at precisely which point Truman sees the light and begins to understand what is
really happening. Like with Plato s cave dweller the process of understanding is a slow one. He will
require to grow accustomed to the sight of the upper world. And first he will see the shadows best,
next the reflections of men and other objects in the water, and then the objects themselves... In the
same way Truman s accent into understanding was a slow process. The scene where he notices that his
wife is crossing her fingers in one of their wedding pictures is that crucial moment. From that point on
we get the feeling that he has gone from assuming there was something wrong to

The House
During the two years I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia, I passed by Monticello everyday on my way
from home to school; I finally went up there to visit right before I left the town. Weaving through the
giant plantation around it, the shuttle took us from the foot of the mountain to the hilltop, where the
house rested. The house was relatively small compared to the size of the field surrounding it. Through
several preservation and minor renovation, the floor we stepped on was still the original. I
remembered walking under the house and circling back through all the servants facilities. All the
dependencies were built into the side of the mountain in a U shape. (Figure 6 7) As for the main house
for Jefferson and his family, the plan of the house showed that several rooms, especially the parlor,
were hexagons, for maximizing daylight in the house, which followed the rounded world concept in
the Pantheon. Also related to this sense, the front of the house were never defined. As in Jefferson s
day, visitors today enter through the columned portico of the East Front into the Entrance Hall. West
entrance is more private use for family and guests. But despite the function of the two entrance, there
was no clear frontality or a single façade that dominated the house. Rounded world represented
Jefferson s vision of the world. Tracing back to his early life, he was well known as the third president
of America. Yet in his legendary life, he only put Author of the

The Grinding Gears of a Dysfunctional Economy The economy is like a watch, each gear grinds
together in order to allow the hands to rotate flawlessly. What happens if one of those gears may get
stuck? Starting in the early 1970s, middle and working class wages in America stagnated. From the
1970s to today, the average hourly wage has only risen 9 percent (Saez) while the dollar has inflated
approximately five hundred and five percent (US Inflation Calculator). These wages have continued to
stagnate as the top twenty percent wealthiest Americans have had their wages quadrupled since the
1980s (Inequality.org). This disproportionate growth of wealth in society s elite classes have left the
economy in freefall. Wealth is distributed to everyone in America, no matter what job you perform. It
is a common understanding that as a fast food worker you will earn a low minimum dollar wage and a
Chief Executive Officer will earn in the millions annually. The United States of America is a
capitalistic society, where everyone is out to make profit. Wage inequality is a great thing, it offers an
incentive for poor and middle class families to work hard to rise through the ranks of the social ladder
and into the bracket of wage earners.

The Private Affairs Of Rulers Have Fascinated Us Since The...
The private affairs of rulers have fascinated us since the beginning of civilization. Many people tend
to think of historical LGBT figures as being artists, authors, poets, and musicians, but they occupied
many powerful positions in government as well. In times where homosexuality could be punishable by
execution or torture, keeping these attractions a secret was often a matter of life and death, especially
for the monarchs who lived highly publicized lives. Through the discovery of love letters, journal
entries, and first person accounts, historians have been able to uncover the enigmatic relationships of
some of history s most influential rulers and their same sex lovers. 10. Emperor Ai of Han The passion

His obsession with witch hunts inspired Shakespeare s Macbeth , and he was known to watch
suspected witches being tortured for information. He also was responsible for the King James Bible,
the modern translation we still use today. Outside of his marriage, James had close relationships with
many of his male courtiers. James was said to be especially close to George Villiers, who James later
made Duke of Buckingham. Poet Théophile de Viau said it is well known that the king of England has
union with the Duke of Buckingham , and the Duke himself revealed in a letter (link 2) that he had
slept in the same bed as the king many times. In fact, secret passages have been found in James castle
linking his bedroom to the room of the Duke. Before his involvement with the Duke of Buckingham,
James also showed an interest in Robert Carr. They first met at a jousting competition, where Carr
broke his leg. James became immediately interested in Carr, (link 3) and sat at his bedside while his

Thailand, a heavily export dependent economy has become a newly industrialized economy and has
been rapidly growing over the past decade. Although the emerging market still relies heavily on their
agriculture sector, being the number one exporter of rice in the world, telecommunications as well as
new types of services are emerging. Their GDP grew 6.5 %( 1) in 2012, and services followed by
industry and agriculture make up the top three sectors. They are in fact the second largest economy in
South East Asia after Indonesia, but their GDP per capita is still relatively low at around 5,000USD.
Over the last several years FDI (foreign direct investment) in Thailand has surged dramatically. From
2010 to 2012, FDI has grown from 118 billion USD to 159 billion USD (2). Much of the FDI has been
focused on the manufacturing sector, technology companies including Intel and Seagate Technology

George Washington And The Revolutionary War
I was glad to hear you made it back to your home safely. After you left, I reflected back on our
conversations about George Washington and the Revolutionary War. Thanks to you and your quest for
knowledge, I have done research on the great general and am happy to pass along my findings to you.
Leading up to the Revolutionary War the colonists were thriving in America. Tobacco was a major
export, and America was making a name on its own globally. There was growing resentment toward
Great Britain over taxes and lack of representation for the colonists. First in war, first in peace, and
first in the hearts of his countrymen. (1) This is the memorial to George Washington by the U.S.
Congress at the time of his death. These words were to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2) After years of military service, Washington became a good field general, but his understanding of
the political and economic issues related to military power was equally important. He knew his army s
success was dependent on the support of the government. He faced shortages of men, weapons, and
other supplies. His troops would go for long periods without pay. Washington followed congress s will
without defying them, and did not use his popularity to gain the people s support when congress didn t
vote his way. He was challenged with maintaining his troops loyalty to him, the civilian authority, and
the rule of law. During the Revolutionary War, Washington had to deal with mutinies by his troops,
ignore suggestions that he become king, and to stop officers from overthrowing or abandoning the
civil authorities. Washington s ability to handle the challenges off the battlefield made the defeat of the
British possible. (2) Another leadership skill was his good understanding of the geographic factors
affecting the use of military power. He was aware of the surroundings and did not let his troops get
backed into a corner with no way to retreat. (2) He was also aware of his troops inability to protect
specific locations and cities against superior British forces. He began using mobile posts that were less
vulnerable and more effective. Washington also understood the important role of the naval power

Give All For All Analysis
For the reflection, I chose service among many different spiritual practices in this book. The reason
why I chose it was because I have been interested in serving others in a right way. The selection of
Hadewijch Give all for all helped me understand what God expects me to do for others. However,
Richard Foster mentions at the end of the selection that it was not easy to admit the truth that the
author discussed. On my first time of reading, I also had similar feeling like this. It s because my acts
of service for others seem no longer commendable in the sight of God according to his writing. As I
read it over and over to fully understand its meaning, I realized that my services that I have done for
others may be not satisfying or pleasing God.
Through this reading, I looked back my ministry that I have done for others in the past. I thought I
could be proud of myself at least in this area, service. Regularly, I visit a nursing home to see an old
lady who now became my friend. I pick up a widow s three children once a week, feed them, help

extended from four to thirty six years. An interview guide containing eleven essential open ended
questions and probe questions about compassion fatigue and burnout was assembled by the
researchers. The interview guide included questions about the nurse s educational and work
experiences, their experiences with compassion fatigue and burnout, triggers that lead to compassion
fatigue and burnout, and strategies for coping with fatigue and burnout. Each interview lasted about an

recognize early signals of compassion fatigue. Almost all of the nurses associated fatigue and lack of
energy as leading indicators of compassion fatigue. Participants described thirty two different triggers.
Most of the triggers were work related, and about one fourth was personal triggers. The triggers were

Throughout the entire play, the relationship between Karen and Martha was called unnatural (Helman

to describe Martha and Karen s alleged relationship. During the suit for slander against Mrs. Tilford,
he referred to the relationship between Martha and Karen as, sinful sexual knowledge of one another
(Helman 58). This was due to the fact that gay , lesbian , or homosexual did not become a popular

little pieces of information like temperature sensors or open/close sensor are extremely valuable
information as it provides insights into defense that might happen in their business processes. There

With wireless sensor network, the applications are cost effective and people can use it. The main
disadvantage of the wireless sensor network is that it have the limited energy and computational
power so it is impossible to make traditional security methodologies to use. Many of the researchers
(A.Perrig, et.al 2001) and (Karlof. C., et.al, 2004) have given attention on this problem in there
research paper. There are some devices which work with sensor network which use Check, Track and
Trace , this type of functionality is used by most of the companies for example check determines the
wind monitoring ability to sense what is going around the environment. Track determines locating an
object at its place as an example in the hospital or in the warehouse, we can determine the location of
physical assets and then tracing that with the help of sensors. The large application in the Wireless
sensor networks make it hard to discuss security without any specific context. In wireless sensor
networks, the security is the main problem.
Critical Analysis and Details
There are different levels for different level application in structure and scale which are important for
developing the sensor network. Location sensor nodes play an important role in the real world
application such as environment monitoring and tracking and geographical routing. Location

Motivation, Motivation And Intrinsic Motivation
With highly developed science nowadays, people still not quite understand how we motivate, and
what actually support us to attain our dream in daily life. Although huge numbers of scientists keep
researching on how motivation works in our brain, we cannot make a conclusion about the truth of the
motivation in the past century. Luckily, Daniel Pink announces his latest results, The Puzzle of

could improve us by learning his method. In this essay, I will illustrates the main point of Daniel Pink,
the evidence given in his speech, also the benefits I get from his idea which increase my self
motivation and helps me improve my study experience. According to The Puzzle of Motivation , the

different methods, which well known as extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation. But it also
could have even more complex motivation methods, such as extrinsic and intrinsic combined
motivation, depends on different tasks. Reward could give us positive motivation and improve us
work efficiency, however, it is limited on easy job, and people given a clearly direction on how to

Essay On Practitioner Attributes
There are three key attributes that a practitioner/nurse must have in the health industry to promote a
safe, and comfortable work environment for both, medical professionals and patients. These attributes
are emotional stability, communication, and empathy, and are all used to enhance the quality of care
for their patients. This essay will discuss and explain why these attributes are important.
A key attribute that a practitioner should have to form interpersonal relationships with their client is
emotional stability. A nurse can use emotional stability to keep a calm mental state during chaos.
Emotional stability is necessary in the health industry because health professionals are generally more
proactive and successful in terms of problem solving. Nurses show emotional stability by not getting
overwhelmed frustrated, or upset during traumatic events. Professionals with higher emotional
stability are less likely to react to stressful scenarios (Hsu, Chang Teng, 2009). Medical professionals
with emotional stability are important in the workplace because they are a strong, stable person that
patients and their family can lean on when they feel as if everything is falling apart. Nurses are
exposed to pain and suffering throughout their careers, and it s important to have an emotional ...

Over time the prices of automobiles have become on expensive due to the rise in the inflation rate. In

  • 2. The American Prison System Is A Vital Portion Of American... Merriam Webster defines prison as a building where people are kept as punishment for a crime or while they are waiting to go to court. In the United States, there is a large prison system consisting of federal and state prisons. The American prison system is a vital portion of American culture. Crime runs rampant throughout our country and it is up to our prisons to punish people for these crimes, maybe even assist in loweingr the amount of crimes that occur. There are several different types of prisons, separated by gender, and differing through the amount of security depending on the type of prisoners. Prisons differ from jails as they are long term facilities; criminals may stay locked up in prison anywhere from a few months up to their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Numerous prison sentences last several years; even taking decades of a person s life, for countless people prison is the only life they are familiar with. The U.S. prison system is necessary; however, the current question is whether it is effective. The prison system should be reformed so that the prisons are not overcrowded and that prisoners have an improved quality of life in and out of prison. The biggest issue with prisons right now is that they are extremely overcrowded. This problem is attributed to the rising crime rate. Currently the crime rate is fairly high, Nationwide, law enforcement made an estimated 11,302,102 arrests in 2013 (FBI). Not all of these arrests were sentenced prison time, nonetheless thousands were. 631,200 people were incarcerated in prisons last year (Carson). Several people argue that the crime rate is lower than it has been, however the best crime rate is 0. Prisons aid in lowering the crime rate because criminals cannot commit crimes while they are locked up and currently there are around 2 million criminals not committing crimes (Prisoners), nevertheless once those prisoners are released they return to a life of crime. Statistics show, two thirds of prisoners will reoffend (Criminal Justice). One of the main roles of prison is to rehabilitate prisoners so that they will not commit other crimes; however, it obviously is not working. • 3. Analysis Of The Certainty Of Fools By Daniel Kahneman Fear of Uncertainty Voltaire once said, Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd one. We live in a world that is constantly changing and does not grant the certainty that people desire. But, people want the stability of knowing what is going to happen; this is why certainty is absurd. In his essay The Surety of Fools, Daniel Kahneman provides examples of people using a phenomenon he calls the illusion of validity. These people strongly believe their actions cause a specific outcome, when in reality there is statistical evidence that shows their actions have no direct correlation with the outcome. While Kahneman argues the illusion of validity comes partially from people s tendency to make quick decisions without fully conveying the causes, it really stems from people s fear of uncertainty. The fear of uncertainty is deeply engrained within our society in academia and in our decision making. Kahneman argues that the illusion of validity comes from fast thinking because it is prone to doubt. However, he neglects to mention that fast thinking roots itself in the fear of uncertainty. Kahneman begins his essay by describing his experience in evaluating future soldier s ability in order to predict what kind of leader they may be. The researchers put the soldiers in a high pressure environment and judged the soldiers on their actions in a given situation. For example, one test involved eight men, complete strangers to one another, on an obstacle field and their goal was to haul a log over a six foot wall. The researchers took note of who took charge, who was stubborn and how the soldiers interacted with each other. Using those observations, the researchers made predictions of what kind of leaders they believed each soldier would become. However, follow up sessions with the soldiers showed that the soldiers may have been overshadowed by another soldier, just having a bad day or were more outgoing than normal during the challenge. So, the follow up sessions statistically proved that Kahneman s predictions were not accurate enough to be helpful. As Kahneman put it, Our forecasts were better than blind guesses, but not by much. So, the research and observations, while they seemed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tom Robinson Character Analysis In To Kill A Mockingbird the main conflict is the Tom Robinson case. Tom Robinson was accused of beating and raping Mayella Violet Ewell. The people of Maycomb see Tom in two different ways. There is the public view of Tom and the private view of him. The public view would include the people of Maycomb who do not know Tom at a personal level, while the private view would be his family, Calpurnia, and the other African Americans in the town of Maycomb. The public see Tom as a dangerous man. For instance in the book it states I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin on my Mayella (Lee 231)! Mayella even said that He got me round the neck, cussin me a sayin dirt I fought and hollered, but he had me round the neck. He hit me agin a agin (Lee 241). Both Mayella and Bob Ewell make the people in the court believe that Tom is some sort of killer or dangerous man who should be lynched. Even Scout thought that Tom Robinson s powerful shoulders rippled under his thin shirt (Lee 248). Tom was very built, and that did not help his case. Before Tom even gave his testimony most people in the court and jury believed he was guilty. Furthermore, The public view of Tom Robinson also includes that he is an abusive man that takes advantage of woman. Such as when Mayella said I got somethin to say a I ain t say no more. That nigger yonder took advantage of me (Lee 251). After she said this, Tom became known as a person who would hurt women in an appalling way. Another example is when Atticus says Miss Mayella, not to be tedious, you ve testified that the defendant hit you, grabbed you around the neck, choked you, and took advantage of you (Lee 248). Mayella states all of these facts in her testimony; making Tom look like a untrustworthy man. One part of her story states that she went in the house to get him the nickel and turned around an fore she knew it he was on her . (Lee 241) . Mayella makes the chance of Tom being innocent lower with her lies; Tom becomes a monster to the public view. On the other hand to some he is as innocent as a mockingbird. These people know the real Tom Robinson. They belive that Tom is a generous and a hardworking man. A quotation in the story that supports this is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Capitalism In Pop Art Cameron Howard ART HIST 11/7/2017 POP ART: Promoting Capitalism Through its Social Movement Viewpoint Pop Art is portrayed by procedures and topics drawn from mainstream mass culture like comic books, promotions, and ordinary social articles. This movement is broadly deciphered as a response to the thoughts of unique expressionism. Pop Art proposed to utilize pictures of prominent rather than elitist culture in workmanship, accentuating the commonplace components of any given culture, as a rule using incongruity. From the 1970s to today, the average hourly wage has only risen 9 percent (Saez) while the dollar has inflated approximately five hundred and five percent (US Inflation Calculator). These wages have continued to stagnate as the top twenty percent wealthiest Americans have had their wages quadrupled since the 1980s (Inequality.org). This disproportionate growth of wealth in society s elite classes have left the economy in freefall. Wealth is distributed to everyone in America, no matter what job you perform. It is a common understanding that as a fast food worker you will earn a low minimum dollar wage and a Chief Executive Officer will earn in the millions annually. The United States of America is a capitalistic society, where everyone is out to make profit. Wage inequality is a great thing, it offers an incentive for poor and middle class families to work hard to rise through the ranks of the social ladder and into the bracket of wage earners. ... Many people tend to think of historical LGBT figures as being artists, authors, poets, and musicians, but they occupied many powerful positions in government as well. In times where homosexuality could be punishable by execution or torture, keeping these attractions a secret was often a matter of life and death, especially for the monarchs who lived highly publicized lives. Through the discovery of love letters, journal entries, and first person accounts, historians have been able to uncover the enigmatic relationships of some of history s most influential rulers and their same sex lovers. 10. James was said to be especially close to George Villiers, who James later made Duke of Buckingham. Poet Théophile de Viau said it is well known that the king of England has union with the Duke of Buckingham , and the Duke himself revealed in a letter (link 2) that he had slept in the same bed as the king many times. In fact, secret passages have been found in James castle linking his bedroom to the room of the Duke. Before his involvement with the Duke of Buckingham, James also showed an interest in Robert Carr. • 30. George Washington And The Revolutionary War I was glad to hear you made it back to your home safely. After you left, I reflected back on our conversations about George Washington and the Revolutionary War. Thanks to you and your quest for knowledge, I have done research on the great general and am happy to pass along my findings to you. Leading up to the Revolutionary War the colonists were thriving in America. Tobacco was a major export, and America was making a name on its own globally. There was growing resentment toward Great Britain over taxes and lack of representation for the colonists. First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen. (2) After years of military service, Washington became a good field general, but his understanding of the political and economic issues related to military power was equally important. He knew his army s success was dependent on the support of the government. He faced shortages of men, weapons, and other supplies. His troops would go for long periods without pay. Washington followed congress s will without defying them, and did not use his popularity to gain the people s support when congress didn t vote his way. He was challenged with maintaining his troops loyalty to him, the civilian authority, and the rule of law. During the Revolutionary War, Washington had to deal with mutinies by his troops, ignore suggestions that he become king, and to stop officers from overthrowing or abandoning the civil authorities. Washington s ability to handle the challenges off the battlefield made the defeat of the British possible. (2) Another leadership skill was his good understanding of the geographic factors affecting the use of military power. He was aware of the surroundings and did not let his troops get backed into a corner with no way to retreat. (2) He was also aware of his troops inability to protect specific locations and cities against superior British forces. He began using mobile posts that were less vulnerable and more effective. The reason why I chose it was because I have been interested in serving others in a right way. The selection of Hadewijch Give all for all helped me understand what God expects me to do for others. However, Richard Foster mentions at the end of the selection that it was not easy to admit the truth that the author discussed. On my first time of reading, I also had similar feeling like this. It s because my acts of service for others seem no longer commendable in the sight of God according to his writing. As I read it over and over to fully understand its meaning, I realized that my services that I have done for others may be not satisfying or pleasing God. Through this reading, I looked back my ministry that I have done for others in the past. I thought I could be proud of myself at least in this area, service. The judge also did not use such words to describe Martha and Karen s alleged relationship. During the suit for slander against Mrs. Tilford, he referred to the relationship between Martha and Karen as, sinful sexual knowledge of one another (Helman 58). This was due to the fact that gay , lesbian , or homosexual did not become a popular terms until the 1940s and 1950s. Essay On Practitioner Attributes There are three key attributes that a practitioner/nurse must have in the health industry to promote a safe, and comfortable work environment for both, medical professionals and patients. These attributes are emotional stability, communication, and empathy, and are all used to enhance the quality of care for their patients. This essay will discuss and explain why these attributes are important. A key attribute that a practitioner should have to form interpersonal relationships with their client is emotional stability. A nurse can use emotional stability to keep a calm mental state during chaos. Emotional stability is necessary in the health industry because health professionals are generally more proactive and successful in terms of problem solving. Nurses show emotional stability by not getting overwhelmed frustrated, or upset during traumatic events. Professionals with higher emotional stability are less likely to react to stressful scenarios (Hsu, Chang Teng, 2009).
