Character Award
I was the vice president of the student body and then president because the president at that time
couldn't fulfill her duties during my 8th grade year. I was in charge of arranging meetings with the
advisor and also with the class officers, organizing events for the school, and bring monthly reports
to the Executive Board of our school. We were required to have 1 meeting a month with the class
officers and advisor. I needed to be able to communicate well with my individual class officers also
have superior leadership skills. I had to have one year of experience, and expertise on how to run
individual class meetings.
2.The Character Award was an opportunity to recognize students, in grades 6th–8th, in our school
who demonstrate exceptional leadership while incorporating life skills like Caring, Honesty, Respect
and Responsibility into their everyday lives. I got this award all three years. I also enjoyed getting
this award because it was a great way to hear what my teachers thought of me as an individual and
as a student. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I was presented these awards in 8th and 9th grade, it felt very special to me. Not just because
it's just another medal I can hang up in my room but for the reason of getting it. My grades weren't
the best in those classes. I surely didn't have the highest average in the class, I knew that for a fact. It
doesn't take someone who has the highest grade and test grades in the class to be a leader. It does
take a person who can lead everyone to a common goal. Actions speak way louder than titles. I don't
need a title to help people or to know my strengths. You shouldn't leave a man (or woman) behind in

Participation Awards Should Be Banned
The notion of participation awards in childhood activities have raised a spark debate; while
awarding each child with a uniform trophy supports equality, what's there to say about the
detrimental effect on motivation if everyone is labeled a winner? The expectation of an award or
certificate, in conclusion to any activity, is viewed as a guarantee; often, they serve as the sole
motivation point for those uninterested in the activity itself as they're aware they'll be a winner
regardless. This inflated sense of self–worth brought upon by miniscule awards, most especially
participation, leaves children unprepared for adult life as a functioning member of society. While
generous in thought, participation awards support a distorted view of reality ... Show more content

In developing nations, there are winners and losers; there are people who succeed in life, and people
who simply fail. This is an accepted thought amongst nations such as Brazil, China, India, and
Lebanon. The culture of these nations believes that there are no rewards for doing what is expected
of you. Simply showing up does not warrant you an award of any kind, it's the unique work ethic
and efforts you push yourself to achieve that result in success. For example, the culture of India
places a high importance on education; there are no rewards in place for students that simply show
up to class every day, which is merely an expectation you must uphold. In the United States, school
systems reward their students with participation trophies at the end of the year for merely showing
up! The award culture in the U.S. has altered the expectation of success within the nation; the
younger generation feels they're entitled to much more than they are possibly responsible enough
for. The culture of Middle Eastern, and Asian nations execute an entirely different expectation of
success; awards are reserved for those who exhibit unique traits and actions, not to those that simply
"participate" by showing up. These up–and–coming nations are quickly replacing America in several
industries, which is perhaps due to award system they have in place that only celebrate those that
work exceptionally

Bruno Mars's Music At The American Music Awards
Sunday night November 20, 2016. This is the night the American Music Awards (AMA's) opened in
2016. The American Music Awards is a huge event in the music industry. This event is sometimes
compared to the Grammys. As we all know, the opening and closing acts are the most important
because you have to start the show off right to get everyone in that good and exciting mood, then it
is also important to end the show with that special performance to remember until next year's event
comes. At the 2016 American Music Awards, Bruno Mars stole the show with this amazing opening

The stage performance is also a great factor into putting on a good show. That is no problem for
bruno mars. Bruno mars always has everyone moving when he steps onto the stage. Bruno mars
shows any gig he plays in that no matter how old you are, you will be on your feet dancing to the
music. Mars does this by coming up with great dance choreography and having great background
dancers to back him up. The entrance to the show needs to be perfect in order to get the audience
moving with you. He opened the show with amazing lights and hit the stage with his tight dance
moves with his other stage dancers. Each step was in unison with everyone else and it looked like no
one skipped a step. This perfection went on throughout the entire performance. When a different
beat came on, a new dance move came out. In the middle/ending of the song, the lights dimmed and
he appeared on the stage with four new dancers. The beat dropped and a new one came on for about
a minute of the performance. No singing went on and all there was was dancing. You can tell hours
went into just this little minute of the performance because the way he presented the dance was
abstract and you can tell that everyone was on beat and where they were suppose to be. Not many
singers can break it down in a dance like Bruno Mars did.

It's reasonable, as parental figures, to want the best for your children. You're trying to keep your

Participation Awards
Lessons of Participation Awards In today's society, children think they need to be awarded for
participating in events. Participation awards do not always teach children the lessons they need to
learn. Participation awards can always be great, but it is not teaching the children the lessons we
want them to learn. "We must focus on process and progress, not results and rewards," (Merryman).
The awards affect how the children will act later in their life. Children will always participate if it
meant they would receive an award.
Some would just join, not try, and just participate just to get the award afterwards.
And for the ones who actually tried and got a participation award, feel like they failed.Which is a

Parents need to tell them that it is okay to lose. "It's O.K. to lose, to make a mistake". (Merryman)

the mistakes. Not everyone is going to be good at everything. "It's through failure and mistakes that
we learn the most. " (Merryman) And without mistakes, no one would learn anything important.
And that important thing is, making mistakes can open their eyes. It can show them what to do next
time and what not to do again. Even though everyone has probably made the same mistakes once or
twice. One day everyone will learn. So, if parents taught the importance of winning and losing we
would not have to worry about participation

Essay On Participation Awards
I believe that participation trophies should not be awarded in sports and activities. These awards
may be seen as a positive strategy, but they have multiple negatives. Participation awards do not
allow for children to learn how to receive criticism. They also do not allow for a competitive
environment and belittle the recognition of highly skilled kids. These negatives that come with
participation awards, in my opinion, outweigh the benefits. Supporters of participation awards
would state that children need praise or that they need to be encouraged to continue to do what they
enjoy. Children do need love and support, but in my opinion that support is highly effective when it
is given from the people themselves rather than through objects. The encouragement children feel is
also extraordinarily important, yet the criticism serves an important role also. Throughout, people
continually receive a greater amount of criticism than awards in life. It may not be to the same

sports and activities. These awards account for a less competitive environment that hardly
recognizes the highly skilled kids. Participation trophies also do not allow for children to learn
criticism and how to react to it. Overall, children will not learn to continually set goals for
themselves to work towards. I believe that all of the negatives against participation awards add up to

Night's Senior Awards Ceremony
This may not be the most fascinating story, but it's a story that I believe many students can relate to.
When it comes to school, we are always exposed to feelings of jealousy and envy towards students
who are smarter and have better grades than us. However, not because someone has more of
something, makes what you have any less significant and special.
On May 28th in my AP Literature class, my teacher handed out note cards for that night's Senior
$#$#1$#$# ceremony. My card had three numbers on it 7,9 and 21. Each number represents the
order in which a group of awards would be given out. For instance, since I had number 7 first, I was
part of the seventh group to go up on stage and receive an award. I was ecstatic to see which awards

I felt as if I was ,in a sense, finally measuring up to my peers. Once I sat back down, I started to
enjoy the ceremony more. I observed as the number ten group received their award for having over
1,000 hours of community service, the group eleven, then group twelve and so on. Patiently, I
awaited for Mr. Bravo to hold up the twenty one in order to receive my last award. When he finally
did, I stood up and began to walk toward the stage's stairs, but I noticed that I was the only one
there. The times I went up before, I could hear the sound of chairs folding up and students chattering
as they walk to get in line. But not this time. All you could here were the clicks of my heels. I began
to feel even more nervous now. I had absolutely no clue what the award was for. Why was I the only
one here. "Is it a special award? Did I read the number wrong? Was I in line for the wrong number?"
My mind began to overflow with these questions. This time my principle began with "Our next
award is being presented to a special student whom the counseling staff has chosen as this years
Champion of Character for her extraordinary high school growth." She then continued with
"Congratulations to Ms. Leslie Ruiz." I proceeded to walk on stage and receive my award. I was
very nervous as I stood on stage alone, but I also felt very honored and ecstatic to receive such a
special award. From a distance I could see my parents and my boyfriend as they

Participation Awards Research Paper
Participation awards encourage involvement by recognizing the hard work of everyone involved,
which is why they shouldn't be seen as pity awards that students don't deserve. By rewarding
participation, you applaud the effort and hard work of the deserving winners, but also the hundreds
of other competitors who put forth their best effort. Unfortunately, parents like James Harrison don't
understand the purpose or benefit of participation awards, resulting in the stigma around them.
James confiscated his son's award saying that "these trophies will be given back until they EARN a
trophy," and "sometimes your best is not good enough," but often, your best effort is enough. You're
not always going to be the best, even if you try your hardest, and

Essay On Participation Awards
How many participation awards do you have? Many children have them but do we need them. I
think too many children have them. If we give children participation awards, they get a false sense
of skill. This makes children less competitive, and they begin to expect awards. And while yes it
does boost confidence it doesn't reward proper effort.
Giving children too many participation awards gives them a false sense of skill. If they think they
are really good, they begin to think they are too good, and they will start to become narcissistic.
Overly praising them also makes it harder for the child to cope with losing. For example, if a child is
told they are always perfect they don't know what to do if they lose.

Should Kids Get An Award Essay
Awards are given out to many kids for the same reason. These credulous kids are being taught that
everything you do can lead you to getting a trophy. Most children are given awards for being on
time, participation, showing up to practice, exetera. Teachers, parents, and coaches are all
responsible for this; showing that kids are awarded for something that does not deserve an award.
How would you feel if your kid grew up thinking that most of the things he/she does is enough to
get an award?
Kids all around the world are receiving the same awards as someone else. Teachers are giving kids
awards for showing up to class or participating in class. Children do not need to get an award for
doing little things like this in class, teachers should just tell them that they are doing good, and that
they should keep it up. In the article "Participation Trophies Send a Dangerous Message" by Betty
Berden, she talks about how kids should not acquire awards for doing these simple task. "Showing
up to work, attending class. Completing homework and trying my best at sports practice are
expected of me, not worthy of an award" (Berden 3) She shows in this sentence how these little ...

These people say that if a kid sees another child receive an award, and they did not get one, it will
make them feel unbefitting. The article "In Youth Sports, Participation Trophies Send a Powerful
Message" by Parker Abate, he shows that minors merit trophies, even for the little things they do.
He states in paragraph 4 "Watching a peer receive a trophy and not receiving one yourself can be
degrading." This portrays that when you do not receive an award, but somebody else does, it can
make a child feel less of himself/herself. Kids do not need an award for all the things they do,
because when they get older, it will just show them that they can be looked at as good for little

The Honor Roll Award : The Outstanding Achievement Award
Ever since I was a little girl, father always told me that I was going to do "great things" with my life.
I suppose that he was right. It became increasingly noticeable, as early as Kindergarten, that I
possessed an intellectual skill set that was slightly more advanced than my fellow peers. I remember
my teachers paying special attention to me and even using my schoolwork as an example for the rest
of the class. My parents would constantly brag about me to their friends and coworkers. And at the
end of each school year I would walk away with all of the "most important" merit awards such as:
the Honor Roll Award, the Outstanding Achievement Award, Most Conscientious Student, and the
Most Dedicated Scholar Award given to select individuals that had maintained straight A's
throughout the year. In fact, my former principal once came up to me and said, "Stacy you are truly
a credit to the African American race. I'm so proud of you!" I didn't quite know what he'd meant by
that statement, so I just assumed it was some sort of compliment. One would probably expect that
this constant praise and adoration would inevitably lead to me to being overly self–confident,
egotistic, or maybe even slightly conceited. If only that were true. In reality, all of my lovely
academic success that I'd worked so very hard to achieve throughout the years resulted in nothing
but social isolation and an occasional snide remark from a few of my less academically driven peers.
I soon learned that being

Participation Awards Bad
A belief is an acceptance or understanding that something thought or stated is true. Most people in
the world have a belief or a strong opinion about something in their lives. I have a strong belief
about various types of awards that can affect people in different ways. Awards are prizes given to
people who have achieved something great or been outstanding in an event. Awards can be given for
things such as: achievements in sports, obtaining a high grade point average in school, or even more
serious things like the Nobel Prize. Most often, awards are given to people who exceed expectations
and go above and beyond the requirements set before them. However, occasionally, awards can be
given to entire groups of people for participation alone, even when some of the people in those
groups do not deserve an award, which I strongly see as a negative thing. ... Show more content on

I presume this because participation awards can cause a recipient feel entitled to be given a tangible
reward for simply being involved in an event without necessarily giving any effort or making
progress towards achieving a common goal with the rest of the person's group. Another reason why I
think participation awards are a bad thing is because the awards sometimes cause a person to not try
as hard as he or she can, keeping the person from reaching his or her full potential. The final reason
why I see participation awards as a bad thing is because they should hold no value to owners
because they are too common. Many different factors have influenced me to feel this way including:
personal experiences, my parents, and professional football player, James Harrison. Participation
awards are bad for society in many different ways, and many factors have shaped me to feel this

Australia Year Award
The Australian of the Year Award is still a relevant representation of the 21st century Australian.
Each year our nation celebrates the achievement and contribution of eminent Australians through the
Australian of the Year Awards by profiling leading citizens who are role models for us all. They
inspire us through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contribution to creating a
better Australia. In this essay, I argue that the Australian of the Year Award is bound up with our
sense of nationhood and presents the best of Australian qualities, there is no such thing as a 'real'

This is displayed through the selection criteria of the award. For example, to be chosen the nominee
must have a significant contribution to the Australian community and nation and availability and
commitment to promote national pride and active citizenship through the year of appointment. The
selection criteria also ensures that the person chosen presents the best of Australian qualities, and is
representative of our diverse nation. For example, consideration is given to all genders, ages,
locations, races and occupations.
I believe there is no such person as a 'real' Australian. The 21st century Australian refers to a very
broad range of people. In the past six years, recipients included: an equality advocate, a family
violence campaigner, an AFL player and community leader, a media icon, an oscar–winning actor, a
social entrepreneur and a mental health expert. All people from different backgrounds, of different
ages, genders and races. Even though everyone is unique and there may not seem to be a clear
Australian image anymore, I believe that there is still certain qualities that all of these people share,

Importance Of Humanitarian Award
The Humanitarian award is an award given to someone who improves people's everyday lives for

helps others, and is caring. When I say he is a hard worker I mean doesn't come home until 10,
works every day of the week, and doesn't stop until he gets everything done. My Dad is the baseball
coach at Loras he is very dedicated to his job. He has worked there for about 20 years and is still

he's had a rough game he goes home and tries to figure out ways to improve. Then gets right back

I touched on the supplemental nature of these awards. In my opinion making these awards
supplemental short changes the recipient, they have displayed superior proficiency and leadership
within the regiment. While they have been officially recognized by the award, it doesn't help them
achieve promotion above their peers, add promotion points to their promotion worksheet, or even
give them an addition ribbon for their rack. The awards are essentially the equivalent of a coin,
while you are being thanked for your superior service, they possess little benefit for the individual
toward promotion. Transitioning the regimental awards to a more official status could make the
awards more prestigious, inspire greater competition for the awards, and help recipients advance
within the regiment. All of these afore mentioned, benefit the Engineer Regiment as a whole, and
would help individuals demonstrating proficiency move through the ranks more rapidly than their

Character Award

  • 1. Character Award I was the vice president of the student body and then president because the president at that time couldn't fulfill her duties during my 8th grade year. I was in charge of arranging meetings with the advisor and also with the class officers, organizing events for the school, and bring monthly reports to the Executive Board of our school. We were required to have 1 meeting a month with the class officers and advisor. I needed to be able to communicate well with my individual class officers also have superior leadership skills. I had to have one year of experience, and expertise on how to run individual class meetings. 2.The Character Award was an opportunity to recognize students, in grades 6th–8th, in our school who demonstrate exceptional leadership while incorporating life skills like Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility into their everyday lives. I got this award all three years. I also enjoyed getting this award because it was a great way to hear what my teachers thought of me as an individual and as a student. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I was presented these awards in 8th and 9th grade, it felt very special to me. Not just because it's just another medal I can hang up in my room but for the reason of getting it. My grades weren't the best in those classes. I surely didn't have the highest average in the class, I knew that for a fact. It doesn't take someone who has the highest grade and test grades in the class to be a leader. It does take a person who can lead everyone to a common goal. Actions speak way louder than titles. I don't need a title to help people or to know my strengths. You shouldn't leave a man (or woman) behind in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Participation Awards Should Be Banned The notion of participation awards in childhood activities have raised a spark debate; while awarding each child with a uniform trophy supports equality, what's there to say about the detrimental effect on motivation if everyone is labeled a winner? The expectation of an award or certificate, in conclusion to any activity, is viewed as a guarantee; often, they serve as the sole motivation point for those uninterested in the activity itself as they're aware they'll be a winner regardless. This inflated sense of self–worth brought upon by miniscule awards, most especially participation, leaves children unprepared for adult life as a functioning member of society. While generous in thought, participation awards support a distorted view of reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In developing nations, there are winners and losers; there are people who succeed in life, and people who simply fail. This is an accepted thought amongst nations such as Brazil, China, India, and Lebanon. The culture of these nations believes that there are no rewards for doing what is expected of you. Simply showing up does not warrant you an award of any kind, it's the unique work ethic and efforts you push yourself to achieve that result in success. For example, the culture of India places a high importance on education; there are no rewards in place for students that simply show up to class every day, which is merely an expectation you must uphold. In the United States, school systems reward their students with participation trophies at the end of the year for merely showing up! The award culture in the U.S. has altered the expectation of success within the nation; the younger generation feels they're entitled to much more than they are possibly responsible enough for. The culture of Middle Eastern, and Asian nations execute an entirely different expectation of success; awards are reserved for those who exhibit unique traits and actions, not to those that simply "participate" by showing up. These up–and–coming nations are quickly replacing America in several industries, which is perhaps due to award system they have in place that only celebrate those that work exceptionally ... • 11. Bruno Mars's Music At The American Music Awards Sunday night November 20, 2016. This is the night the American Music Awards (AMA's) opened in 2016. The American Music Awards is a huge event in the music industry. This event is sometimes compared to the Grammys. As we all know, the opening and closing acts are the most important because you have to start the show off right to get everyone in that good and exciting mood, then it is also important to end the show with that special performance to remember until next year's event comes. At the 2016 American Music Awards, Bruno Mars stole the show with this amazing opening of to the show. He performed with his so called "comeback song" known as 24k Magic. The stage performance is also a great factor into putting on a good show. That is no problem for bruno mars. Bruno mars always has everyone moving when he steps onto the stage. Bruno mars shows any gig he plays in that no matter how old you are, you will be on your feet dancing to the music. Mars does this by coming up with great dance choreography and having great background dancers to back him up. The entrance to the show needs to be perfect in order to get the audience moving with you. He opened the show with amazing lights and hit the stage with his tight dance moves with his other stage dancers. Each step was in unison with everyone else and it looked like no one skipped a step. This perfection went on throughout the entire performance. When a different beat came on, a new dance move came out. In the middle/ending of the song, the lights dimmed and he appeared on the stage with four new dancers. The beat dropped and a new one came on for about a minute of the performance. No singing went on and all there was was dancing. You can tell hours went into just this little minute of the performance because the way he presented the dance was abstract and you can tell that everyone was on beat and where they were suppose to be. Not many singers can break it down in a dance like Bruno Mars did. Mars connected to the audience members as well as people at home judging by all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Participation Awards For Children Participation awards. You've probably all received one at some one point or another, but has anyone really wondered why? Why do they exist? What do people think they do? Why would this ever help anyone, ever? It's reasonable, as parental figures, to want the best for your children. You're trying to keep your child from pain and struggle, and you think being raised in a world of happiness and smiles will keep them happy and smiling. Everyone wants the best for their child: happiness, companionship, success, etc. And for you, praise and reward might be part of the package. Participation awards do not always teach children the lessons they need to learn. Participation awards can always be great, but it is not teaching the children the lessons we want them to learn. "We must focus on process and progress, not results and rewards," (Merryman). The awards affect how the children will act later in their life. • 37. Essay On Participation Awards I believe that participation trophies should not be awarded in sports and activities. These awards may be seen as a positive strategy, but they have multiple negatives. Participation awards do not allow for children to learn how to receive criticism. They also do not allow for a competitive environment and belittle the recognition of highly skilled kids. These negatives that come with participation awards, in my opinion, outweigh the benefits. Supporters of participation awards would state that children need praise or that they need to be encouraged to continue to do what they enjoy. Children do need love and support, but in my opinion that support is highly effective when it is given from the people themselves rather than through objects. The encouragement children feel is also extraordinarily important, yet the criticism serves an important role also. When it comes to school, we are always exposed to feelings of jealousy and envy towards students who are smarter and have better grades than us. However, not because someone has more of something, makes what you have any less significant and special. Patiently, I awaited for Mr. Bravo to hold up the twenty one in order to receive my last award. When he finally did, I stood up and began to walk toward the stage's stairs, but I noticed that I was the only one there. The times I went up before, I could hear the sound of chairs folding up and students chattering as they walk to get in line. But not this time. All you could here were the clicks of my heels. This time my principle began with "Our next award is being presented to a special student whom the counseling staff has chosen as this years Champion of Character for her extraordinary high school growth." She then continued with "Congratulations to Ms. Leslie Ruiz." I proceeded to walk on stage and receive my award. If we give children participation awards, they get a false sense of skill. This makes children less competitive, and they begin to expect awards. And while yes it does boost confidence it doesn't reward proper effort. Giving children too many participation awards gives them a false sense of skill. If they think they are really good, they begin to think they are too good, and they will start to become narcissistic. Overly praising them also makes it harder for the child to cope with losing. Most children are given awards for being on time, participation, showing up to practice, exetera. Teachers, parents, and coaches are all responsible for this; showing that kids are awarded for something that does not deserve an award. How would you feel if your kid grew up thinking that most of the things he/she does is enough to get an award? Kids all around the world are receiving the same awards as someone else. Teachers are giving kids awards for showing up to class or participating in class. Children do not need to get an award for doing little things like this in class, teachers should just tell them that they are doing good, and that they should keep it up. I remember my teachers paying special attention to me and even using my schoolwork as an example for the rest of the class. My parents would constantly brag about me to their friends and coworkers. And at the end of each school year I would walk away with all of the "most important" merit awards such as: the Honor Roll Award, the Outstanding Achievement Award, Most Conscientious Student, and the Most Dedicated Scholar Award given to select individuals that had maintained straight A's throughout the year. In fact, my former principal once came up to me and said, "Stacy you are truly a credit to the African American race. I'm so proud of you!" I didn't quite know what he'd meant by that statement, so I just assumed it was some sort of compliment. In this essay, I argue that the Australian of the Year Award is bound up with our sense of nationhood and presents the best of Australian qualities, there is no such thing as a 'real' Australian and the Australian image is still relevant, nobody is marginalised through the Australian of the Year Award, it is so much more than just a pat on the back, and most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is displayed through the selection criteria of the award. For example, to be chosen the nominee must have a significant contribution to the Australian community and nation and availability and commitment to promote national pride and active citizenship through the year of appointment. The selection criteria also ensures that the person chosen presents the best of Australian qualities, and is representative of our diverse nation. For example, consideration is given to all genders, ages, locations, races and occupations. I believe there is no such person as a 'real' Australian. The 21st century Australian refers to a very broad range of people. In the past six years, recipients included: an equality advocate, a family violence campaigner, an AFL player and community leader, a media icon, an oscar–winning actor, a social entrepreneur and a mental health expert. All people from different backgrounds, of different ages, genders and races. Even though everyone is unique and there may not seem to be a clear Australian image anymore, I believe that there is still certain qualities that all of these people share, such as ... The Academy is facing this and dealing with the racial representation in the Oscar Awards as it has become a huge problem in Hollywood. Ira Deutchman, a member of the Academy, has stated "Like many Academy members, I was embarrassed and disappointed when this year's Oscar nominees were announced, but I wasn't shocked. After all, no season passes without several scathing articles about the lack of diversity in Hollywood, both on the screen and in executive suites. On the other hand, when fingers were pointed at the membership of the Academy as the cause of the problem, I bristled at the implications"(Deutchman). It inspires people to do great things around the world. It's earned by going out of your way to be a better person not only for yourself but for everyone around you. That is why I would nominate my Dad. My Dad is deserving of the Humanitarian award because he's a hard worker, helps others, and is caring. When I say he is a hard worker I mean doesn't come home until 10, works every day of the week, and doesn't stop until he gets everything done. My Dad is the baseball coach at Loras he is very dedicated to his job. He has worked there for about 20 years and is still going strong. Although they don't always win every game my Dad still has a positive attitude. After he's had a rough game he goes home and tries to figure out ways to improve. Then gets right back out there and tries again. He is always trying to improve as a coach. He teaches his players new techniques and skills to better their game. I love seeing the great relationships he has with his players. After all this only one reason why I would nominate my dad for this award. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instantly, my heart rate doubled and I could feel a rush of adrenaline throughout my body as I leaped out of my seat. I had never thought in a billion years that I would be called up and given an award for the presentation of my research, especially as a junior. I was really just proud of myself for entering. As I walked up to the multi–level stage in front of more than 600 people, I experienced a mix of emotions ranging from surprise to pride to even a slight nervousness due to the enormous crowd of parents, teachers, judges, and scientists in front of me. Despite my voiceless and anxiety filled past, I had managed to present my research to five new judges throughout the day and stand on a stage in front of hundreds of people. This moment on the stage was the culmination of years of hard work, persistence, and self–realization. When I climbed back down from the stage to my seat after the other award recipients in my category were called up, my friend, Andrew, and my research teacher congratulated me. Since my category was the first one to get called upon, I had about an hour to reflect on my experience. While my peers got called up to receive their awards, I had a huge realization: I enjoy being valued and leaving a positive impact on the world. Life on earth is finite. What you make of your time here and the impact that you have on others in the future is what defines the life that you had lived. The $25 check and the cheap medal that I had received from the competition signifies nothing to me in the grand scheme. None of it will matter in 10 years. It's the altered mindset that this entire research experience has brought me that I value the most and what I will remember for the rest of my life. Helping out kids with a relatively ... I touched on the supplemental nature of these awards. In my opinion making these awards supplemental short changes the recipient, they have displayed superior proficiency and leadership within the regiment. While they have been officially recognized by the award, it doesn't help them achieve promotion above their peers, add promotion points to their promotion worksheet, or even give them an addition ribbon for their rack. The awards are essentially the equivalent of a coin, while you are being thanked for your superior service, they possess little benefit for the individual toward promotion. Transitioning the regimental awards to a more official status could make the awards more prestigious, inspire greater competition for the awards, and help recipients advance within the regiment. All of these afore mentioned, benefit the Engineer Regiment as a whole, and would help individuals demonstrating proficiency move through the ranks more rapidly than their ... Silver Award Essay Through completing my silver award alongside two other Girl Scouts (Hailey Lichey and Autumn Klein) from our Troop 5939, I have learned a great deal of what it takes to truly earn such an award as the Silver Award. Overall, my favorite part of working on our Silver Award was to see our book drive really start to come together and to really see that only three girls could make such a difference and actually be doing something to involve the community, including our school and the library. It really did make me feel like I could accomplish even more things such as this if given the task again. As a troop, we gained public speaking skills that helped us to speak out and make a difference to get people's attention. We gained better team building skills by splitting the work, while also working together and keeping our end of the work up to date to complete our award. So, that would also include more responsibility skills as well. And lastly, we gained advocacy skills that help us to connect with others around us to gain support of projects or differences we would like to make in our community. Our Take Action project had the impact of educating others and helping them to realize that the new or gently used books they had sitting around really didn't have a purpose for them, but to donate them to someone who would love to have a book while in a dull hospital room would be wonderful. It helped to open the eyes of the public and let them see how much the hospitals really need these books and to spread the word to those around them as well. Through this continual chain, people will continue to understand the amount of books the hospital goes through versus the amount they receive, compelling them to continue to donate those books they no longer read to hospitals around them that would love to use them.
