CONSISTENT AND LUMPED MASS MATRICES IN DYNAMICS AND THEIR IMPACT ON FINITE EL...IAEME Publication
There are two strategies in the finite element analysis of dynamic problems related to natural frequency determination viz. the consistent / coupled mass matrix and the lumped mass matrix. Correct determination of natural frequencies is extremely important and forms the basis of any further NVH (Noise vibration and harshness) calculations and Impact or crash analysis. It has been thought by the finite element community that the consistent mass matrix should not be used as it leads to a higher computational cost and this opinion has been prevalent since 1970. We are of the opinion that in today’s age where computers have become so fast we can use the consistent mass matrix on relatively coarse meshes with an advantage for better accuracy rather than going for finer meshes and lumped mass matrix
The main objectives of the heat transfer analysis is to enhance the heat transfer rate from system to
surrounding. To transfer the heat from any system either by conduction or convection medium. Both modes of
heat transfer has been enhanced by providing an additional equipments in the outer periphery of the heat transfer
system.Fins are basically mechanical structures which are used to cool various structures by the process of
convection. Most part of their design is basically limited by the design of the system. But still certain parameters
and geometry could be modified to better heat transfer. In most of the cases simple fin geometry is preferred such
as rectangular fins and circular fins. Many experimental works has been done to improve the heat release of the
internal combustion engine cylinder and improves fin efficiency. This study presents the results of air flow and
heat transfer in a light weight automobile engine, considering fins with dimple to increase the heat transfer rate.
An analysis has been using ANSYS WORKBENCH version 12.0 was conducted to find the optimum number of
dimples to maximizing the heat transfer across the Automobile engine body. The results indicate that the
presence of fins with dimple shows improved results on the basis of heat transfer.

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS AND SIMULATION OF CONJUGATE HEAT TRANSFER STUDY OF ELECTRO...ijiert bestjournal
Present - day interest in the thermal analysis of electronic circuit boards arises mainly because of the failure of such components as a result of thermal fatigue. A thermal/structural ANSYS model was integrated in this study to enable the predictions of the temperature and stress distribution of vertically clamped parallel circuit boards that include series of symmetrically mounted heated electronic modules (chips). The board was modelled as a thin plate containing heated flush rectangular areas representing the heat generating modules. The ANSYS model was required to incorporate the effects of mixed convection on surfaces, heat generation in the modules, and conduction inside the board. Appropriate convection heat transfer coefficients and boundary condition s resulted in a temperature distribution in the board and chips. Then structural analyses were performed on the same finite element mesh with structural elements capable of handling orthotropic material properties. The stress fields were obtained and compa red for the two models possessing different fibers orientations .
A Thesis on Design Optimization of Heat Sink in Power ElectronicsIJERA Editor
The heat sinks are used in electronic systems to remove heat from the chip and effectively transfer it to the ambient. The heat sink geometry is designed by the mechanical engineers with the primary aim of reducing the thermal resistance of the heat sink for better cooling in the electronic systems. Due to the proximity of the heat sink with the ICs, the RF fields created by RF currents in the ICs/PCBs gets coupled to heat sinks. Hence, the coupled RF current can cause radiated emission. This radiated noise from the device can couple and disturb the functioning of the nearby electronic systems. Also this radiated emission from the device poses a problem to the system compliance with respect to EMI/EMC regulations. The international EMI/EMC standards require the radiated emission from the electronic devices to be kept below the specified limits. As a result the design of Heat Sink is very important factor for the efficient operation of the electronic equipment. In this project design optimization of a Heat sink in a Power amplifier is performed to reduce the weight and size .Power amplifier is electronic equipment mounted in an army vehicle. The power modules inside the amplifier generates a heat of 1440 Watts and a temperature of 140 0c.Two Heat sinks are used to dissipate the heat generated inside the equipment and maintain a temperature of less than 850c. The existing heat sink which is being used is weighing around 10.3kgs and height of 51mm; as a result the unit is very robust. The objective of my project is To design & optimize the heat sink to reduce the weight and size. The optimized heat sink should also dissipate heat generated by power modules and maintain a temperature of less than 850c inside. To achieve the design a steady state thermal analysis will be performed on the heat sink and plot the Temperature distribution on the fins. Based on the above analysis results we will increase/decrease the number of fins, thickness of fins, and height of fins to reduce the weight of the heat sink. We will perform CFD analysis of the power amplifier by mounting the optimized heat sink and plot temperature, pressure and velocity distribution in the power amplifier enclosure. Efforts are made to optimize temperature, pressure and velocity distribution in the power amplifier enclosure by reorienting the power modules in the enclosure. UNIGRAPHICS software is used for 3D modeling SOLID WORKS FLOW SIMULATION software is used for thermal and CFD analysis.
This paper addresses the numerical simulation of
helically coiled closed loop pulsating heat pipe which is carried
in ANSYS Fluent. The values of thermal resistance for
constant heat fluxes vs. transient heat fluxes are analyzed.
Phase change visualization after the end of simulation is
carried out to observe the phenomenon in liquid at its
saturation temperature and pressure. Finally, helical heat
pipes are found to have thermal resistance less by 2.7K/W,
0.56 K/W, and 0.227 K/W for 8W, 40W and 80W heat inputs
than circular pipes. Helical heat pipes are found more efficient
than circular heat pipes.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
Using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for pavements is crucial to achieving sustainability. Implementing RCA for new pavement can minimize carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, reduce harmful emissions, and lower life cycle costs. Compared to natural aggregate (NA), RCA pavement has fewer comprehensive studies and sustainability assessments.

2. Simulation of heatsink cooling on IGBT by ANSYS Fluent software
Heat sink is a metallic piece with a high thermal conductivity such
as copper and aluminum, which is placed on processors or
chipsets such as: Motherboards (which produce heat), in order to
enhance the performance, and allowing the processor to transfer
heat better, so that the processor does not go beyond the
standard temperature. In this analysis, the heat transfer from an
IGBT which is cooled by a cooling sink is simulated by ANSYS
Fluent software.

4. Simulation of heat transfer of the flow around some perforated fins
As the surface area increases, the transfer of heat increases. This process is done
using blades extending from the wall to the surrounding fluid. Some application of
blades are : motor cooling blades in the motorcycles, cooling blades in power
transformers, blade tubes used to increase the heat exchange between the air and
fluid in the ventilation devices.
In each application, selection of the type of blade depends on factors such as
dimensions, weight, cost, and the rate of reduction in convection coefficient at the level
of increasing the pressure drop across the blades. This is a suitable device for
analyzing the effect of the heat transfer surface, type of fin, base temperature on the
temperature distribution, and heat transfer in the Fins.
In this analysis, it has been tried to simulate and analyze the heat transfer of the fluid
flow around a perforated fin using the Ansys Fluent software.

6. Natural convection is a mechanism, or type of heat transport, in which the fluid motion is not
generated by any external source (like a pump, fan, suction device, etc.) but only by density
differences in the fluid occurring due to temperature gradients. In natural convection, fluid
surrounding a heat source receives heat and by thermal expansion becomes less dense and rises.
The surrounding, cooler fluid then moves to replace it.
Cooling of electrical and electronic systems has always been one of the major concerns of engineers
in improving the productivity of such systems. Cooling of such systems by fluids now has an
important part of the industry in fluid mechanics. Cooling by fluids, especially by free convection heat
transfer due to low cost and higher efficiency, has been a major encouragement for mechanical
engineers. One of the most important methods is the natural-oil-natural-air (NONA) cooling system
in a free convection heat transfer system in a transformator.
In this system, the air naturally comes in contact with the outside of the radiator. Radiators naturally
cool with the air. Also, the oil flow in the transformator is naturally circulating. The hot oil rises up and
the cold oil is replaced. This type of cooling system is limited to low power transformators, because
by increasing power of the transformator, the coil heat increases, and the oil must be exposed more
quickly to the outside air and cool down faster. This type of system is used for power transformators
up to MVA 30.

8. 3D simulation of natural convection heat transfer in a transformator
Natural convection has attracted a great deal of attention from researchers because of its presence
both in nature and engineering applications. In nature, convection cells formed from air raising above
sunlight-warmed land or water are a major feature of all weather systems. Convection is also seen in
the rising plume of hot air from fire, plate tectonics, oceanic currents (thermohaline circulation) and
sea-wind formation (where upward convection is also modified by Coriolis forces).
As the temperature rises above the permitted level, transformators may be in danger. Different types
of transformators have different cooling options by considering their volumes. Convection heat
transfer in a transformator can be carried out in different ways using different fluids. One of the most
important of these methods is the natural cooling with air and oil.
In this system, the oil inside the transformator flows naturally to allow heat transfer. The air in contact
with the radiator body cools the radiator of the transformator. From the perspective view of
mechanical fluid engineering, this issue is a free convection heat transfer problem.
In this analysis, we tried to simulate and analyze the 3D flow of free convection heat transfer in a
transformator using Ansys Fluent software.

10. Simulation of a two-dimensional transformator
Heat transfer is one the phenomena occurring in many important industrial
processes whether we need to add heat or remove heat from the systems. One
of the systems in which we need to remove the heat is a transformer. A
transformer is an electrical system used for transferring electrical energy or
electricity from one electrical circuit to another. Transformers are cooled using
natural, forced and combined convection. Both air and fluids can be used in
cooling systems. CFD simulations will help engineers understand and analyze
the process of cooling and finally design low cost and efficient cooling system
for a typical transformer. Some of the systems are: ONAN (oil natural and air
natural), ONAF (oil natural and air forced), OFAF (oil forced and air forced),
OFWF (oil forced and water forced). Many other systems exist and we can
design new innovative systems for transformers cooling. Mr CFD Company will
assist you to achieve better designs for cooling systems for transformers.

13. Simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer in aluminum foam porous
media for thermal sink cooling
A porous media consists of a volume with pores and stomata. In some
applications of fluid dynamics, we need to investigate the fluid flow in porous
media. This occurs in places where a fluid passes through the pores in the
material. In this analysis, it has been attempted to simulate and analyze the
effect of porous materials on heat transfer from a heat source in a cooling
heat sink by Ansys Fluent software.
