There are two primary types of cells: animal and plant cells. Cells are microscopic structures that are the basic units of all living organisms. Animal cells contain organelles such as the nucleus, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi apparatus. Plant cells also contain these organelles as well as additional structures like chloroplasts, cell walls, and vacuoles. Cells carry out all the functions necessary to sustain life.
