Cells come in different shapes, sizes, and specialized structures depending on their function. There are two main types of cells - prokaryotic cells which lack nuclei and organelles, like bacteria, and eukaryotic cells which contain nuclei and membrane-bound organelles, like plant, animal, fungi and algae cells. While most cells contain hereditary information that is passed from parent to daughter cells, viruses lack cellular structures and can only reproduce using a host cell.
