A computer base information system (CBIS) is defined as a set of hardware, software, database, telecommunications, people, and procedures configured to collect, manipulate, store, and process data into information. 2. Definition
 A computer base information system is a set
of hardware, software, database,
telecommunication, people and procedure
that are configuration to collect, manipulate
store and process data into information.
 Example:
->company’s payroll system and inventory
control system etc.

3. Component of CBIS:
 1) Hardware:
-> Hardware consists of computer equipment use to
perform input, processing and output activities.
-> input device include key-board, caning device,
equipment that can read magnetic character and many
other devices.
-> processing device include the C.P.U and main
memory.
-> output device include printer, monitor, projector etc.

4. -> software are the computer programs that
manage operation of computer system.
Example:-
:- process payroll, send bill to a customer and to
provide manager with information to increase
profit and reduce cost and provide better
customer service.

5. -> There are two type of software:
i) System software:
-> It controls basic computer operation such as start
up and printing.
ii) Application software:
-> which allow specific task to be accomplish such as
word processing and tabulating number etc.

-> a database is a collection of inter related and
organize data and information.
-> database is most valuable and important part of
computer base information system (CBIS)
-> An organization’s data base contains facts
information on customer employee etc.

7. 4) Telecommunication:
i) Telecommunication:
-> Telecommunication or signals for
communication and enable organization to carry
out their processes and task through effective
computer network,
ii) Network:
-> network are use to connect computers and
computer equipment in a building around the
country or around the world to enable electronic
communication.

8. iii) Internet:
 Internet is the word’s largest computer network
consisting of thousand of inter connected network all
freely exchanging information.
iv) Intranet
 Intranet is an internal network based on web
technology that allow people within an
organization to exchange information and work
on project

9. v) Extranet
->Extranet is a network based on web
technology that allow selected outsider such
as business partner and customer to access
authorized resources of the intranet of a
company
->Many people use extranet to track package
goods order products from their suppliers or
access customer assistant for other company

10. 5) People
 People
 People are most important element in CBIS.
 Information system include all the people to
manage run program and maintain system.
 User's are any people who use information
system to get result.

11. 6) Procedure
 Procedure include strategy, police method and
rules for using a CBIS
 Example:-

is to be run or execute other describe who can
have access the data in the data base
