Role of Violence in the History of Cinema
Violence plays a major role in the history of cinema. Both Alfred Hitchcock and Quentin Tarantino
have produced a litany of films that have imagery or plots that include violent acts. However, their
different directorial visions and styles make it so that Hitchcock and Tarantino films are nothing alike.
This is because Hitchcock s objective was to make the audience feel afraid, tense, and anxious for the
protagonist, whereas Tarantino s objective is to illustrate the absurdity of violence by elevating the
macabre to the level of humor. Both Hitchcock and Tarantino are brilliant directors who use violence
in their films to achieve a desired effect.
These two directors differ in that Hitchcock avoids showing any blood, guts, and gore, whereas
Tarantino is determined to show blood, guts, and gore. Alfred Hitchcock s movies rarely if ever show
violence in an explicit manner. Violence is only suggested, which has a poignant impact on the viewer.
The viewer knows that violence is lurking around the corner; because the viewer does not see
anything happen, the fear lingers in the air. This is as true for North By Northwest and Psycho as it is
for The Birds. In these films, violence does not happen in an overt way, and yet the audience feels
afraid and anxious. Tarantino, on the other hand, does not intend for the audience to feel fear. In films
like Pulp Fiction, and the Kill Bill series, Tarantino presents violence completely unhindered. Severed
limbs and other overtly gory

The Volcanic Eruption Of Volcanoes
Geologic Processes
Volcanoes are one of the most beautiful and yet destructive forces naturally occurring on our planet.
As the Earth s population continues to grow, more people move closer and closer to volcanoes.
Currently, an estimated 500 million people from Japan to Indonesia, and from Italy to Oregon, live
near active volcanoes. Each year, approximately 70 volcanoes will erupt, and usually at least once
every ten years, there will be a large volcanic eruption that puts the people living both near and far in
danger (Lutgens Tarbuck, 2005).
As populations continue to increase and more people are attracted to the beauty surrounding these
areas, the number of people choosing to beauty of an area over the known dangers of living ... Show

While we typically think of the pressure being released in a dramatic eruption from a volcanic
mountain that has been formed, the pressure can also be released as magma quietly escapes through
fissures, or cracks within the ground near the volcano. This process is referred to as fissure eruption.
Once the magma is released from the volcano, it is called lava. Fissure eruptions can occur over a
wide area, but over a few hours or days, they typically become a central vent from which the pressure
will continue to be released. Occasionally, lava will flow back into the ground by pouring into a crack
or an open eruptive fissure, a process called drainback. Lava can also flow back into the same fissure
from which it erupted (Krock, 2002). Regardless of where the lava flows, the change in the terrain is
called a lava plateau. These lava plateaus can be relatively small or very large. For example, the
Columbia plateau covers an area more than 150,000 square kilometers and extends over the states of
Washington, Idaho and Oregon (Landscape America, n.d.).
Two materials make up a volcanic eruption: lava and ash. However, each volcano can have different
proportions of lava to ash. Volcanoes in Hawaii and the Galapagos are mostly lava (greater than 95%)
with just a small (less than 5%) ash, typically in the form of cinder (Oregon State University, n.d.).
Other volcanoes may have more cinder ash than lava.

Airplane Leasing Essay
Investments in Airplane Leasing
What is it? Airplane leasing is a type of leasing or investment by which a lessor allows a lessee to
lease an airplane and/or a combination of flight crew, ground crew, fuel, maintenance, and other flight
related necessities. With this type of investment, the average return on investment (ROI) is 12 15%.
Costs for the investment in general will range greatly, but having assets and liabilities worth $10
million is not uncommon, and larger leasing investors will have upwards of $100 million.
Types Airplane leases usually occur in the wet , dry , and damp varietie.
~ Wet leases are leases in which the lessor provides almost, if not, everything to the lessee. This will
usually include the aforementioned flightcrew, insurance, ground crew, etc. Wet leases are generally
utilized as short term solutions for major and minor airlines looking to meet high demands or flyer
volumes.
~ Dry leases are leases in which the lessee self provides most of the flying necessities such as fuel,
crew, etc. In this way, leases generally are longer termed and the lessee has more control over general
operations.
~ Damp leases are leases in which the lessor provides everything (similarly to a wet lease) except the
cabin crew.
How to invest Obviously, airplanes and their related services are expensive and daunting. To invest in
airplanes as a lessor, one must accumulate capital. Some airplanes will be cheaper than others and
serve various purposes. For

Jingle Ball Concert
Sunday, December 10 was a night to remember. Kiss 108 s Jingle Ball took place, at TD Garden,
Boston. The opening acts began at 6 pm. The one downside to this was I had a basketball game right
before the concert. As a result, I missed most of the opening performers. However, this concert was
still the best I have ever attended. The acts I missed were the boy band, Why Don t We and Girl Meets
World star Sabrina Carpenter singing two of her songs.
On the way into the concert, there was a vendor selling t shirts, after bargaining, we bought the shirts
for only $10. We quickly paid for them and ran into the stadium. Luckily, I made it just in time for the
last opening act, Max Schneider. Additional performers of the night included: Camila Cabello, Charlie
Puth, Kelly Clarkson, Halsey, Fifth Harmony, and lastly Fall Out Boy. Each sang two to four songs.
This concert was a nine act, 3 1/2 hour show.
The arena was packed with fans all different ages, all with pulsing energy. People wore festive outfits
and most were in the holiday spirit. I attended the concert with four of my closest friends, we had been
planning the night out for months. Our seats were located in section 6, just left of the stage. We had a

The Cult You re In
Everyone is in a consumer s hypnosis, even if you think you are not. When you go to a store and pick
one brand over the other, you are now under their spell. The spell/ hypnosis is how companies get you
to buy there things over other companies and keep you hooked. Either through commercials or
offering something that you think will make your life better by what they tell you. For example, you
go to the store and you need to buy water, once you get to the lane and look, there is 10 different types
of water you can buy. You go pick one either because the picture is better or you seen the commercial
the other day and you want it. During the length of this paper we will talk about two important writers,

To most people that do not like that person it might seem harmless but other children want to grow up
just like that so he/ she thinks it must have everything its idol has to be successful. But if you do not
like that rapper it s ok because your idol is promoting the same thing to you in a different way. This
might seem harmless but this Dream is very dangerous. Denizet Luis explains how There are kids
starving themselves so they can be the Abercrombie girl, and there are guys who think they aren t
worthy if they don t look exactly like the guys on the wall (Denizet Luis, 371). Children don t know
that it s bad for them to starve themselves to look like the idol they look up too. They see those people
and say why can t I be like that? and try so hard to do it and get sick or hurt. This pursuit for the
Dream is dangerous especially if it involves children because children are naive and do not know the
difference between what they can or can t do. This does not exclude the adults because they too have
the same dream and some are reckless to achieve it, some want to look like the Victoria secret models
and so they throw up what they eat or exercise too much which is very harmful.

The Negative Effects Of Gentrification In Neighborhoods
Gentrification is the process of renovating and improving a neighborhood so that it can be more
appealing to the middle class taste and is negatively affecting many neighborhoods all over New York
City. The gentrification of low income neighborhoods can bring down a neighborhood and is
responsible for the displacement of families who can t afford to live in the gentrified area anymore due
to the price of rent being dramatically increased. Landlords tend to raise rent to cast out low income
renters and make room for higher income renters who are looking to move into the neighborhood.
Some of the lower class residents who are basically forced out of their homes tend to move in with
relatives, search for a place to go in one of the city s remaining cheap areas, and can even go homeless
if they have no family, friends, or anywhere to go. The gentrification of a neighborhood can bring the
neighborhood down as a whole. It changes the neighborhood in a negative way. The many families
who were displaced and driven out by the gentrification process took the great qualities which make
the neighborhood a whole with them. The feeling of friendliness in the community was driven out
with its old residents. You used to be able to walk down the street and see five or six people you knew
to have a nice conversation about sports or the weather with turning a five minute trip to the
supermarket into a 30 minute trip. This doesn t happen anymore, the neighborhoods are being filled

Synopsis and Objectives
Suggested complementary case in investment management and financial performance: Warren E.

record of Value Trust, a mutual fund managed by William H. (Bill) Miller III at Legg Mason, Inc. The
case describes the investment style of Miller, whose record with Value Trust had beaten the S P 500
fourteen years in a row. The tasks for the student are to assess the performance of the fund, consider
the sources of that success, and to decide on the sustainability of Miller s performance. Consistent

Malkiel finds some evidence of hot hands and cold hands, but concludes that the evidence provides no
reason to abandon the theory of capital market efficiency. Another excellent book by Malkiel, A
Random Walk down Wall Street (New York: W.W. Norton Co., 2003), surveys the evidence for an
efficient market in prose accessible to the novice.
Students who are new to the subject of finance may also find it useful to refer to one or more
dictionaries of financial terms, such as Barron s Dictionary of Finance and Investment Terms,6th ed.,

can begin with the coin flipping exercise suggested by Malkiel. All students are asked to stand up and
to prepare to flip a coin. At the first and subsequent rounds, those who get tails are asked to sit down.
Usually cheers and humor accompany the final rounds.

The things in life he didn t understand fascinated Nathaniel Hawthorne. He wrote a few stories in a
literary journal called The Pioneer, one of them being The Birthmark . Time significantly influenced
Hawthorne in creating this short story (Wheeler). Aylmer, the main character, uses the scientific
experimentation throughout the story to remove the birthmark from his wife s, Georgiana, face which
results in him killing her. The Birthmark has attempting for perfection, the battle between science and
nature, and the earthly love.

well. Aylmer is talented enough to make aromas from scratch; however, he can t make his wife live a
longer life. He believes he has powers from the knowledge of science. Georgiana is the main power of

science. Georgiana s birthmark has the power of nature to destroy everything who sees it. Aylmer asks
her to pluck a flower and the whole plant suffered a blight, its leaves turning coal black as if by the
agency of fire (220). The beautiful Georgiana tries to get a flawless flower thinks It is magical! cried
Georgiana. I dare not touch it (220); instead she had caused the flower to die. Georgiana s touch was
like the flaw characteristic that all human beings had, but Aylmer wanted nothing less than perfect.
Aylmer states, there was too powerful a stimulus (222), in which he meant that the flaw Georgiana has
caused that. As the flower continues to die, Hawthorne is trying to point out that the perfect flower can

Collective Memory
Narratives are the culturally historical symbols and memories nation s use to uphold modern values,
customs, and practices. Through the course of history and the collective memory of the people, a
variety of narratives are formed; and while some last in the mainstream, other narratives fade into the
background of the national and practiced culture. However, these narratives do not necessarily
disappear, and some remain relatively strong in the mentalities of the public―even in times of
legitimate and/or long lasting hegemonic values that stand in opposition. This paper will examine the
influences of official and alternative narratives, how they are selected through historical and collective
memory, and hegemonic impacts through the narratives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, by generating the Communistic pride and strength with themes of celebration, such as
the May Day parades (International Worker s Day) and the October Revolution, Gierek gave the
public a new social and political culture and narrative of practice. He continued this patriotic theme of
Communistic and authoritative legitimacy through propagating regularly social and politically cultural
events, instilling the public with deeper connectivity to the Communist regime and the pride one can
take in its governance. While these strategies showed relative but temporary success, Kubik notes
ceremonials and rituals that took stronger hold amongst the Polish public:

The Causes Of Blindness
About 285 million people are visually impaired worldwide; 39 million of them are blind (Facts about).
Many people in the world are affected by blindness. This has been an ongoing problem for a long
time. It has grown over time and gotten to be a massive problem is a person s everyday life. Blindness
is a problem because most cases of blindness can be avoided, it s increasing tremendously, technology
isn t made for the blind, learning has to be altered, and it s expensive.
Blindness is a problem because most of the time it can t be avoided. Although most people think that
most cases of blindness can be avoided, but that s not true. This is proven in an article posted by
Everyday Health that was written by Tammy Worth and medically reviewed by Robert Jasmer, MD.
Tammy states that Diabetes is the top cause of blindness in America... Nearly all patients with type 1
diabetes develop diabetic retinopathy, as do about 60 percent of those with type 2 diabetes (Worth).
Type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes can t be stopped, diagnosis just happens out of the blue. To make
matters even worse a person could also get diabetic retinopathy, a type of blindness. When a person
has a type of diabetes, they have a good chance of developing a blindness disease and cannot stop it.
Having the chance of getting retinopathy just comes with have diabetes. Because there is not stop to
becoming blind when diagnosed with diabetes, blindness is a problem. In an article posted by
everyday Health, Rebecca Taylor, MD who is an ophthalmologist at Nashville Vision Associates in
Tennessee stated that, Risk factors for macular degeneration include a family history of the condition,
smoking (which damages the eye s blood vessels), a lack of lutein and zeaxanthin in the diet, and not
protecting your eyes with sunglasses (Worth). Halting aging or inheriting a gene is something that is
impossible to control. This creates a problem because aging comes with a greater chance of getting
macular degeneration, a disease that causes vision loss. Macular degeneration can also be inherited,
which is something nobody has control of, it just happens. Because there is not a way to stop aging,
increasing chances of getting macular degeneration, or

The Negative Effects Of Technology On Education
In our world, technology has marked its own impact in our society. Since the birth of the digital age,
technology has only advanced and has lessened many difficulties previously imposed on earlier
centuries. Whether noticeable or not, technology is connected to every single action and transaction in
our world today. Mechanics, purchasing, communications, agriculture, and education are few fields
where technology have been implemented in. Technology has awarded consumers the opportunity to
purchase items from any location, allows for the exchange of information through individuals, and led
to productivity and accuracy in the agricultural field. However, the use of technology has been
misunderstood in its relationship with education. Opponents of technology in terms education can
state that it is the primary cause that literacy rates have decreased in recent years, since technology can
distract from literacy development or academic engagement. The question arises is technology
detrimental to literacy development and engagement or is it beneficial. Should technology and the
digital age be reevaluated in its effectiveness in literacy development and academic engagement?
Absolutely, technology should be reevaluated in effectiveness in literacy development due to the fact
it provides more opportunities then barriers. When evaluating ideas, we should look at the pros and
the cons; and if the pros outweighs the cons the ideas should be accepted as the influential.
Technology has made literacy development more adaptable, led to the development of new literacy
skills such as critical thinking and research skills, while providing personal instruction. A benefit of
technology in literacy development is that it can reach students with learning disabilities or challenges
than traditional texts. Students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, or ADHD are not able to sit
down over a long period of time and read a traditional text due to challenges imposed. To properly
gain an understanding of a text time must be spent with the existing knowledge of some words.
Students or persons in general with dyslexia are unable to understand words we common take for

did with drugs. Am I just paranoid? Or I m just stoned. This song also talks about the constant
paranoia he faces. Holden also has to deal with being paranoid as he is clearly insecure. It is rare that
the reader will find Holden describing somebody positively. He is constantly making shallow
judgments about the people he encounters. He says, I m not kidding, some of these very stupid girls
can really knock you out on the dance floor. Before even having a conversation with her, he already
comes to the conclusion that she is a stupid girl. This proves his insecurity because he is seeing his
imperfections through others and criticizing them for it. Unwell Matchbox Twenty Analysis This song
was written from the point of view of a depressed person, rather than a crazy person. I feel that Holden
would fall into the category of a depressed person rather than a crazy person. He states several times
that he really is just lonely. He says, What I really feel like, though, was committing suicide. I felt like
jumping out the window. This may contribute to his depression. This type of depression that he has

Witch and the Wardrobe, directed by Andrew Adamson. About three quarters of the way into it, I
realized it was actually a really good movie with an amazing story. That is when my journey to
reading and watching anything dealing with Narnia began. The book, written by C.S. Lewis was also
pretty good; however, I would say the movie was was better because of the visual representations of
certain scenes that bring the whole story together. In the beginning of the book, the kids
,Peter,Lucy,Susan, and Edmund go to hide from their stepmother in a wardrobe and they end up in a
magical land called Narnia which contains many mystical and magical creatures such as centaurs and
half goat half human people but in this event they decide to explore the land and the middle child
Edmund meets the wicked ice queen that rules over the land with a ice cold iron fist and he goes with
her because she gives him food. Fast forward a bit and they find out that he was taken by her and ...

Narnia is no different for the book or the movie and each is slightly different starting off with the
book. The book s plot is very simplified and is not in much detail giving it a rushed feeling with
characters not being described to even some being hardly even mentioned. Along with that you have
some of the more important scenes being hardly described and it saying what the characters are
thinking and what the mood of the scene even is. The movie has a more in depth plot with amazing
CGI to give it the realistic feeling along with some new characters to help set and develop the plot to
make it feel more complete. This is shown very well in one of the last scenes with the centaur general

Analysis Of Two Lovers And A Beachcomber By Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath and Two Lovers and a Beachcomber by the Real Sea Sylvia Plath, while one of the best
known poets of the 20th century, has diminished in popularity to the modern audience. Despite this,
Plath s work is still poignant today with its self examination of life in the context of poor mental
health and its confessional style that has become a staple of American literature. On October 27, 1932,
Sylvia Plath was born to Aurelia Schober and Otto Plath, both immigrants of Germanic descent.
Although she was born in Boston, Sylvia Plath spent her childhood years in Winthrop, Massachusetts,
a smaller coastal town. Unfortunately, Plath lost her father to diabetes related complications in
November of 1940 at the young age of eight; however, her eighth year of life also brought her the
publication of her first poem in the children s section of The Boston Herald. Two years later, the Plath
family moved to Wellesley, Massachusetts, so her mother could work at Boston University and
support the family. Plath excelled at her school in Wellesley and began to receive prizes and awards
for her writing. Along with her natural intelligence, this culminated in a personality that her mother
described as precocious as well as the development of perfectionist tendencies that would afflict her
significantly later in life (Barnard 15). Similarly, America s entrance into World War II in 1944
contributed to Sylvia Plath s pessimistic outlook on human nature. Additionally, as she grew up and

Lewis Carroll s Major Accomplishments
American Authors: Lewis Carroll
You ve heard of Alice in Wonderland, the classic fictional adventure, but, the author behind the child s
tale may just have an even more interesting story. His name is Charles Dodgson and he was born on
January 27, 1832. However, he is better known by his pen name, Lewis Carroll. Lewis Carroll was a
writer, photographer, mathematician, logician, and anglican deacon. He is most known for his skill in
fantasy and word play. Many societies today are dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of his life
and he remains one of the most well known writers in the current age.

He also sent a few of his works to other magazines, which gave him minor success. These other
magazines included The Comic Times, The Train, as well as less known magazines such as the
Whitby Gazette and The Oxford Critic. Most of these early works were comical, however, Carroll did
once state in writing that he would definitely enjoy doing more serious and publicable works in the
future. The first piece of work that Carroll had published was one that was most notoriously
responsible for his fame. It was titled Solitude. Apart from all his other writings, the particular works
that made Carroll such a well known author are the classic Alice in Wonderland stories. It is said that
Carroll based Alice off of Alice Liddell, who was the daughter of Carroll s friend at the time. When
Lewis told Alice the beginning of the story, she insisted that he write them down and publish them.
Carroll had many books made featuring Alice. Some examples include Through the Looking Glass,
Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There. The
story of Alice in wonderland remains a classic tale

The Compromise Of The Civil War
Without Compromise The issue with compromise is that it must give each party the sense they have
won something or at least not suffer a total loss. Why then, did the Compromises of 1820 and 1850
not prevent the Civil War? Because neither set of laws directly addressed the right to own slaves. A
country cannot have two sets of laws for two different regions. As we have seen with segregation and
gay rights, deferring to states laws only works to delay addressing the issue at hand. While no one can
say the Civil War was solely caused by the divisive issue of slavery, it is safe to say the North and
South were polarized. The Civil War had to happen to force the country to stop compromising and
declare a winner and a single set of rules to live by. In the beginning of the 19th century ,The United
States was already equally divided between free states and slave holding states. The Compromise of
1820 was passed by Congress merely to keep The Union in equilibrium, not to resolve the issue of
slavery. The 1820 Compromise created a line at 36 30 latitude line that would determine a boundary
for the Northern free and Southern slave holding states. This effectively permitted Missouri into The
Union as a slave holding state and created Maine, from northern Massachusetts, as free state. Bringing
the count of free and slave holding states to an even 24. As balance was struck it only stalled the issue
and in 1854 the Kansas Nebraska Act, which asked the State to determine their stance

Minimalism Won T Work In Our Economy
Minimalism was first introduced in the early 1960 s as a new idea of thinking and a way of creating
sculptors and art work. Artist that were a part of this movement were called Minimalists and took
pride in allowing the materials they worked with to speak for themselves. Their works involved
extremely simple gestures and ideas. They started a movement of taking something simple in its own
form and finding the beauty in it. Currently there are groups of people practicing Minimalism but
instead of an art form, they have adopted the concept into their own lives. It s safe to say our daily

A short yes would be yes, but only in the short run. The real question should be in what area of
unemployment would it affect. Again, Minimalist practice the principle of needing and wanting less of
materialistic things and striving towards a more fulfilled life away from consumerism. If more people
practice minimalism, then less is consumed. But less of what? Less of fast moving consumer goods.
The disposable industry may get hit, as would fast fashion retail stores. This would be the immediate
effect. In the long term, even more durable goods would be affected. For example, families may
choose to drive the same car for another few years rather than replace it after the usual 5 or 10. Thus,
jobs in retail, automobile, manufacturing etc. would be affected but would be required to adopted to
the new demand of higher quality of goods. Therefore, taking their business locally where the
technology would be supported by more investments, if there is less spending, then there is
automatically more saving. Banks will now hold more deposits which they can invest in other
investments, ranging from energy, real estate and agriculture. Thus, creating more jobs in these
industries as they grow. Are economy has always struggled with unemployment the real question here
is rather or not which type of employment we want to support. Consumerism based employment or a

The Israeli Palestinian Conflict And The Jewish Movement
Starting in the late 19th century, the Israeli Palestinian conflict has been a long standing clash between
the Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs due to several significant events. The Israeli palestinian conflict
is one that goes way back to the time of the Old Testament. The land known as Israel, was given to the
jewish people by God through Abraham. God Promised to give Abraham s descendants the land
eternally. Throughout the thousand of years, thousands of Arabs have moved to those lands which they
called Palestine. When it comes to whom should own the land, both sides have credible arguments.
The Jews say that it is written in the Bible while the Palestinian Arabs say that they have ruled the
land for thousand of years. The Palestinian Arabs are also the majority of the population in that region.
In the late 19th century, Theodor Herzl founded a group of Jews called the Zionists. According the the
Encyclopedia Britannica, Zionism is the Jewish nationalist movement that has had as its goal the
creation and support of a Jewish national state in Palestine, the ancient homeland of the Jews. The
Zionist immediately began to relocate european Jews to four main cities in Palestine. These cities were
Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed and Tiberias. During this time, Palestine was part of the Ottoman empire
and under direct control of the Ottoman Capital. Fast forwarding a couple of decades to WWI, the
Ottoman Empire began to weaken. In 1917, the British announced the Balfour Declaration

Police officers who walk a regular route have agreater opportunity to build rapport and establish a
trusting relationship within communities. The more a community is familiar with an officer due to

India s Nuclear Activity between 1968 and 1998
I told President Clinton that when my third eye looks at the door of the Security Council chamber it
sees a little sign that says only those with economic power or nuclear weapons are allowed. I said to
him, it is very difficult to achieve economic wealth . This was said by I.K Gujral, the Indian Prime
Minister at the time during a U.N general meeting in 1997.
The context and focus of this essay will be India s nuclear activity between 1968 up until the Pohkran
II tests in 1998. The background element shows that, in 1968, India wanted to protect its own right of
experimenting with nuclear weapons by not signing the NPT (nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty). India
in 1974 had engaged in a nuclear test, which New Delhi advanced to say that was not a weapon but
was, however, peaceful (Sullivan, 2012 3). International audiences were fazed by the nuclear action by
India, especially the United States of America, consequently filing and constructing laws that
prevented India from trading multilaterally along with posing nuclear banning laws against the Indian
state. It can be demonstrated that India for a long time, remained outside the nuclear circle of states,
which was controlled and built by the powerful United States. An agreement was reached between the
two states rather long after India s first tests, which marked a not only a new position in diplomatic
relations, but the understanding that India was marked as a new nuclear power. Why did India decide

According to Plato, an Ancient Greek philosopher, The other considerations which you mention of

the multitude, who, if they could, would restore people to life as readily as they put them to death and

fluctuate over time, therefore an emotional decision is not necessarily always the correct decision.

This perseverance could be related to Allende s perseverance in life such as becoming a journalist and
author. Throughout the three Fortunato generations, there was the desired result of a successful circus.
The first Fortunato persevered through times of catastrophe and turmoil (105) and for years Horacio s
grandfather bore the sole responsibility for the spectacle (105). His desire to save and maintain his
circus came to the point where he had to perform almost all of the acts. However, he managed
somehow to survive bad times while many other circuses succumbed and were thus obliterated(106).
The first Fortunato s desire to keep his circus buoyant left him to persevere through all the hard time
and come out stronger. The first Fortunato s son, Fortunato II, was left a debt free enterprise. He too
persevered with an unshakable prudence and under his direction the circus grew in size and prestige
until it was the largest in the nation. (105) He made it so that the enormous caravan no longer drifted
aimlessly, as it had in his father s day, but steamed purposefully (106). The second Fortunato was able
to make the circus a greater success. His father before him allowed him to do so through his
perseverance and thus created a new, higher goal for his son to reach. Horacio, the third Fortunato,
intended to be rich from the time he was a young boy (108). His goal was predetermined and he
eventually lived a good life.

During World War II, the Americans fought a two front war, with pressure from both Japan and
Germany. The United States, aware that Germany was threatening to build an atomic weapon, created
a secret project to develop the technology first. Under the codename, the Manhattan Project, leading
scientists carried out top secret research on fission and the technology needed to create the first atomic

This committee decided that the United States should retain nuclear superiority, in the event that
international relations deteriorated following World War II (US Department of Energy). This decision
is a foreshadowing of the Cold War, and nuclear arms race which followed the dropping of nuclear
weapons on Japan. The interim committee also decreed that a regulatory system should be created to
control the development of nuclear weapons, since other nations would inevitably obtain the
technology needed to develop weapons. Possibly, the most influential decision made by the interim
committee was to keep the details of the atomic bomb a secret, to maintain the shock effect, until after
it had been dropped on Japan. Two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima
and Nagasaki. The first bomb dropped was a uranium bomb, nick named Little Boy, was untested
before its detonation (US Department of Energy). The second, dropped after the Japanese did not
surrender, was a plutonium bomb, nick named Fat Man. The dropping of these bombs propelled the
United States to a seat of world power, as they were the only country to obtain a weapon of mass

The Poem Richard Cory By Edwin A. Robinson
Humans live to love, interact, and be apart of something bigger and better than them. The poem
Richard Cory by Edwin A. Robinson illustrates a man, Richard Cory, to be perfect in every way. He
has goods looks, nice clothes, a gentleman like attitude, and money. What more could a person desire?
The people from the town did not notice that all Richard Cory wanted was a relationship, to be
listened to, and to be a friend. In the end Richard had no one to turn to and he was not happy anymore.
Even though he had an abundance of money, it was not enough for Richard. Edwin A. Robinson s
poem Richard Cory exhibits the theme of isolation portraying the lack of human contact through the
character Richard Cory by utilizing literary devices such as tone, and irony. ... Show more content on

In the poem Richard Cory the speaker repeatedly refers to the people as we . This indicates that the
speaker is a character in the story among all the other people in the town. Although the persona is
saying we this does not include the character Richard Cory. He is referred to the person that everyone
wants to be like. They want his money, his clothes, and his attitude. The speaker of the poem says,
Whenever Richard Cory went downtown / We people on the pavement looked at him (1,2). This quote
creates a complete distinction how Richard Cory is separate and singled out from we people . The
speaker does not realize they are singling Richard out but they seem to think that he is too good for
them because he has everything and they have nothing but

Psychological Needs Theory
This article talks about the psychological needs of human beings where their satisfaction can have a
positive or a negative effect in the life of an individual. For instance, the satisfaction of psychological
needs will make a person have self determination, motivation, social development and well being. On
the contrary, the dissatisfaction of psychological needs will make a person aggressive, be ill be and
will lack self defense and a way of solving issues soundly. The theory of self determination developed
by American Psychologists supported that satisfaction of psychological needs will make an individual
to be determined in life and have the strength to face situations positively. First, psychological need
satisfaction and frustration can lead to either dark and bright side of a person s character. Thus,
psychological development is what brings out the best or beast in a person and defines their character,
thinking capacities, their attitudes and depression levels. Various benefits accompany the satisfaction
of these psychological needs which include fostering human growth through intrinsic motivation and
integration and attainment of good health. The dissatisfaction of psychological needs will make a
person to lack self control, have rigid behavioral patterns and oppositional defiance. Although such
negative vices may develop in a person, there are ways of coping with psychological need satisfaction.
Self determination theory (SDT) supported that some

Montreal, Lower Canada Case Study
Montreal, Lower Canada, April, 8, 1829
Dear Sincere and Purposeful William Lyon Mackenzie,
As a resident of the Province, Lower Canada; I, Monsieur Antoine Andre Joelle, have heard and
recognize your presence as a strong willed advocate and reformer, who gives and finds compassions
within the humble people of the Provinces Lower and Upper Canada.
As a testimony to your righteous character, I beseech your support and inquiry into the affairs of the
French speaking Province of Lower Canada our Provinces Lower and Upper are similar in their
people s needs. The condition of our Province stems from the irregular rule of the Chateau Clique, the
similar rule of the Family Compact in Upper Canada. This paltry screen to a rotten government (as
said by you, Sir Mackenzie, while writing of the Family Compact) of priests, army people and others
have led to a significant loss of representation for both the ordinary people of the ... Show more

The discrimination due to our culture, language and opinions, the high taxes on the land and farms of
the French speaking, and the lack of representation and democracy within the primarily English
speaking government have fueled the distrust and growing hostile feelings between the two groups. As
well as James Craig and his need to uproot and imprison any who fight for change an example being
the closing of the newspaper Canadien . These troubles only affect the French speaking in Lower
Canada and I presume the primary body of Upper Canada is not designated to pay higher taxes or
such, due to the power of the English speaking. This, my possible supporter if you choose is reason I
want change. This inequality is and will be a source for future unrest within the provinces I am

Love, By Laura Kipnis
You ll be mine and I ll be yours. Everything will be perfect until one screws up, but what if no one
screws up? Yes, if no one screws up you made it to the finish line of a happily ever after . Love is such
a crazy thing, one day is alive and growing and the next is fading until it completely dies. Everyone
will have their own view on love, but love is vague, for one knows about today but not about
tomorrow. In her critique of love, Against Love, Laura Kipnis offers a judgmental version of what
constitutes real love . She questions whether we truly desire love, or rather, are conditioned to. She
asserts that social forms accustomed us to pursue a love life so that we are entertained and wanted. But
everyone has a different opinion on the matter. In his short story, What We Talk about When We Talk
about Love, Raymond Carver tells the story of four different individuals in which he explores the
perceptions of love by referring to their beliefs and experiences. One of the four characters, Mel,
seems to have an unclear perspective on love himself as he questions his love life and asserts that
everyone is entitled to look for love when is missing. If Mel was to have a conversation with Kipnis
they would agree and disagree on certain ideas, for they both are able to understand the complexity of
the matter. Mel would agree with Kipnis that society forces one to feel like a failure when love dies
and that people move on because society expects us to, as he questions his

Essay on The Failings of Fundamentalism
Fundamentalism is an espresso shot of Christianity strong, bitter, and undiluted.
Fundamentalists believe the Bible should be interpreted as literal fact, not metaphorically.
To them, it is God s direct word to humanity and the ultimate earthly authority. And so
fundamentalists follow the Bible with unwavering certainty, as if it were God himself, and
press their interpretation of the book upon society. But the certainty at fundamentalism s core is
unwarranted, leading them to wrongfully ignore their oppositions own valid opinions and the
potential gains that come with them.
In the eyes of Christian fundamentalists, their actions are protecting God s will;
they are upholding the laws of the Supreme Being, thus keeping ... Show more content on

Their beliefs
demand an uncompromising attitude; for in their minds, their beliefs are not just their beliefs, but
unquestionable truths ordained by God.
While the fundamentalists reasoning is valid, their assumptions are dubious, resulting in
an absolutist mindset that unduly rejects non Biblical viewpoints. Indeed, if the Bible is inerrant,
and if the Bible is God s supreme will, then the fundamentalists zeal is justifiable and the world
ought to listen to them. However, fundamentalists downplay the almighty if. By their own
admission, their certainty in the Bible and in God is built on faith, which the Bible defines
as confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (NIV Heb. 11.1).
Neither hope nor assurance are quantifiable pieces of evidence; they are feelings, subjective by
definition. Therefore, fundamentalists may feel they are right, but they cannot know whether
they are right by standards of objective reasoning. Even if fundamentalist doctrine is entirely
correct, it has no more privilege to absolute certainty than any other set of opinions. As such,
fundamentalists must understand that their legislative efforts to defend God s will from ungodly
assaults (Marsden) will be seen by others as acts of condemnation, homophobia, and misogyny
(Riascos). They must consider others opposite and equally

House Essay
House, despite having a sexist main character and hardly and characters who are women, is my very
favorite television show. When I watch (which, by the way, is every week; religiously), I do so
because of the intensity and intrigue of the program. The various medical cases that the show involves
keep me on my toes and excited for what is about to happen next. It wasn t until this week, however,
that I noticed just how many inequalities and separations there are between men and women in the
show. First of all, the main character of House, Dr. Greg House, is a man. Whether or not the position
could be played as either a man or a woman, I do not know. However, I should say that Hugh Laurie,
the actor, does a truly remarkable job (he won a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He has absolutely no tact in dealing with her, and has mentioned on made many remarks about her
gender. Later, I will discuss how this is evident even in this one particular episode. To only look at
House s relationship with Cameron, however, would prove as an injustice. House is equally rude and
uncouth with his other two employees. One is black, and one is British. To say that House ignores
either of these factors would be completely incorrect. House refers to the black man as darky , asks
him about crime related incidents, all in an effort to spite him. This is the same way he speaks with
Cameron about her womanhood. Is he sexist? Is he racist? Maybe. Personally, I feel that he is not
meant to be portrayed as such. I think he is just an old, angry man. Tonight s episode did not
disappoint, and has actually proved quite pertinent to this assignment. It revolves around a sixteen
year old supermodel who has a panic attack on the runway, punches a fellow model, and then
collapses to the ground, unable to move, but still aware of what is around her. When she arrives at the
hospital, her father admits to giving her Valium prior to her performance in order to help with nerves.
Also, he later admits to having had sex with her a year or so again. House is not concerned with this
information, and decided to keep the father around to ask him more questions about the daughter.
Cameron, however, finds this information very troubling and reports him. At the very end of the

A Research Study On Finance And Economics
Two years ago while I offered a research job at Cambridge in applied economics, one of my friends
jokingly quipped that one day I would be the next Raghuram Rajan, who had just taken over as the
Governor of the Reserve Bank of India following his academic position. I smiled as I had then not
considered the possibility of becoming an academic who could wield such power in designing policies
to govern the financial institution of the world s largest democracy. In retrospect, this does not seem
very far from the truth with respect to my long term career goals. I consider it a privilege to contribute
meaningful work that would improve the financial standards in my country. My interest in a
quantitative field like finance and economics comes as no surprise, since Mathematics is one of my
favorite subjects and my forte right from secondary school. The power of these subjects to cater to
practical applications in the real world setting led to my close involvement with them, which was also
instrumental for my qualifying for the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad. For my undergraduate
studies, I chose Mechanical Engineering over the other options, at one of the top universities for this
discipline in my country, due to its significant quantitative content and for the possibility of applying
those tools to solving complex problems, which I did. The rigorous pure math training spanning 3
semesters including topics in linear and vector algebra, multivariate calculus, differential

Cadbury As A Company Of The Age Of Management
Cadbury
During class we discussed Cadburys approach on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Visser,W.,
Hollender, J.(2011) describe Cadbury as a prototypical company of the Age of Management . For a
long time, Cadbury derived is motivation to be involved in CSR from its founder John Cadbury. He as
a fellow of the Quakers was convinced that doing business should aim to solve social issues. His
philosophy became part of Cadbury and formed the base for their applied business ethics. Their
engagements impacted the business environment of the company. The former chief executive Todd
Stitzer is cited by Visser,W., Hollender, J.(2011) in 2008 explaining his high personal identification
with the company and their corporate spirit I spent 27 years of my life at this company. I absolutely
love what it stands for and what it has done . . . the whole idea that doing good is good for business .
In 2010 Cadbury was sold to the multinational food corporation which merged with Heinz later on and
is now operating under the name Mondelez. The takeover for $21,8 billion finally ending an area of
the Quaker ideology in the company. Mondelez is a multinational cooperation with a net revenue of
approximately $30 billion in 2015 (Mondelez, 2016). In their fact sheet of 2016 the company explains
further About 85 percent of our annual revenue is generated in fast growing snacks categories, and

  • 2. Role of Violence in the History of Cinema Violence plays a major role in the history of cinema. Both Alfred Hitchcock and Quentin Tarantino have produced a litany of films that have imagery or plots that include violent acts. However, their different directorial visions and styles make it so that Hitchcock and Tarantino films are nothing alike. This is because Hitchcock s objective was to make the audience feel afraid, tense, and anxious for the protagonist, whereas Tarantino s objective is to illustrate the absurdity of violence by elevating the macabre to the level of humor. Both Hitchcock and Tarantino are brilliant directors who use violence in their films to achieve a desired effect. These two directors differ in that Hitchcock avoids showing any blood, guts, and gore, whereas Tarantino is determined to show blood, guts, and gore. Alfred Hitchcock s movies rarely if ever show violence in an explicit manner. Violence is only suggested, which has a poignant impact on the viewer. The viewer knows that violence is lurking around the corner; because the viewer does not see anything happen, the fear lingers in the air. This is as true for North By Northwest and Psycho as it is for The Birds. In these films, violence does not happen in an overt way, and yet the audience feels afraid and anxious. Tarantino, on the other hand, does not intend for the audience to feel fear. In films like Pulp Fiction, and the Kill Bill series, Tarantino presents violence completely unhindered. Severed limbs and other overtly gory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the Earth s population continues to grow, more people move closer and closer to volcanoes. Currently, an estimated 500 million people from Japan to Indonesia, and from Italy to Oregon, live near active volcanoes. Each year, approximately 70 volcanoes will erupt, and usually at least once every ten years, there will be a large volcanic eruption that puts the people living both near and far in danger (Lutgens Tarbuck, 2005). As populations continue to increase and more people are attracted to the beauty surrounding these areas, the number of people choosing to beauty of an area over the known dangers of living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While we typically think of the pressure being released in a dramatic eruption from a volcanic mountain that has been formed, the pressure can also be released as magma quietly escapes through fissures, or cracks within the ground near the volcano. This process is referred to as fissure eruption. Once the magma is released from the volcano, it is called lava. Fissure eruptions can occur over a wide area, but over a few hours or days, they typically become a central vent from which the pressure will continue to be released. Occasionally, lava will flow back into the ground by pouring into a crack or an open eruptive fissure, a process called drainback. Lava can also flow back into the same fissure from which it erupted (Krock, 2002). Regardless of where the lava flows, the change in the terrain is called a lava plateau. These lava plateaus can be relatively small or very large. For example, the Columbia plateau covers an area more than 150,000 square kilometers and extends over the states of Washington, Idaho and Oregon (Landscape America, n.d.). Two materials make up a volcanic eruption: lava and ash. However, each volcano can have different proportions of lava to ash. Volcanoes in Hawaii and the Galapagos are mostly lava (greater than 95%) with just a small (less than 5%) ash, typically in the form of cinder (Oregon State University, n.d.). Other volcanoes may have more cinder ash than lava. Are All Volcanoes the Same? Volcanoes come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Airplane Leasing Essay Investments in Airplane Leasing What is it? • 7. The Negative Effects Of Gentrification In Neighborhoods Gentrification is the process of renovating and improving a neighborhood so that it can be more appealing to the middle class taste and is negatively affecting many neighborhoods all over New York City. The gentrification of low income neighborhoods can bring down a neighborhood and is responsible for the displacement of families who can t afford to live in the gentrified area anymore due to the price of rent being dramatically increased. Landlords tend to raise rent to cast out low income renters and make room for higher income renters who are looking to move into the neighborhood. Some of the lower class residents who are basically forced out of their homes tend to move in with relatives, search for a place to go in one of the city s remaining cheap areas, and can even go homeless if they have no family, friends, or anywhere to go. The gentrification of a neighborhood can bring the neighborhood down as a whole. It changes the neighborhood in a negative way. The many families who were displaced and driven out by the gentrification process took the great qualities which make the neighborhood a whole with them. The feeling of friendliness in the community was driven out with its old residents. Opponents of technology in terms education can state that it is the primary cause that literacy rates have decreased in recent years, since technology can distract from literacy development or academic engagement. The question arises is technology detrimental to literacy development and engagement or is it beneficial. Should technology and the digital age be reevaluated in its effectiveness in literacy development and academic engagement? Absolutely, technology should be reevaluated in effectiveness in literacy development due to the fact it provides more opportunities then barriers. On October 27, 1932, Sylvia Plath was born to Aurelia Schober and Otto Plath, both immigrants of Germanic descent. • 24. The Compromise Of The Civil War Without Compromise The issue with compromise is that it must give each party the sense they have won something or at least not suffer a total loss. Why then, did the Compromises of 1820 and 1850 not prevent the Civil War? Because neither set of laws directly addressed the right to own slaves. A country cannot have two sets of laws for two different regions. As we have seen with segregation and gay rights, deferring to states laws only works to delay addressing the issue at hand. While no one can say the Civil War was solely caused by the divisive issue of slavery, it is safe to say the North and South were polarized. The Civil War had to happen to force the country to stop compromising and declare a winner and a single set of rules to live by. In the beginning of the 19th century ,The United States was already equally divided between free states and slave holding states. The Compromise of 1820 was passed by Congress merely to keep The Union in equilibrium, not to resolve the issue of slavery. The 1820 Compromise created a line at 36 30 latitude line that would determine a boundary for the Northern free and Southern slave holding states. This effectively permitted Missouri into The Union as a slave holding state and created Maine, from northern Massachusetts, as free state. Bringing the count of free and slave holding states to an even 24. As balance was struck it only stalled the issue and in 1854 the Kansas Nebraska Act, which asked the State to determine their stance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their works involved extremely simple gestures and ideas. They started a movement of taking something simple in its own form and finding the beauty in it. Currently there are groups of people practicing Minimalism but instead of an art form, they have adopted the concept into their own lives. If more people practice minimalism, then less is consumed. But less of what? Less of fast moving consumer goods. The disposable industry may get hit, as would fast fashion retail stores. This would be the immediate effect. In the long term, even more durable goods would be affected. For example, families may choose to drive the same car for another few years rather than replace it after the usual 5 or 10. The Israeli Palestinian Conflict And The Jewish Movement Starting in the late 19th century, the Israeli Palestinian conflict has been a long standing clash between the Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs due to several significant events. The Israeli palestinian conflict is one that goes way back to the time of the Old Testament. The land known as Israel, was given to the jewish people by God through Abraham. God Promised to give Abraham s descendants the land eternally. Throughout the thousand of years, thousands of Arabs have moved to those lands which they called Palestine. When it comes to whom should own the land, both sides have credible arguments. The Jews say that it is written in the Bible while the Palestinian Arabs say that they have ruled the land for thousand of years. The Palestinian Arabs are also the majority of the population in that region. In the late 19th century, Theodor Herzl founded a group of Jews called the Zionists. According the the Encyclopedia Britannica, Zionism is the Jewish nationalist movement that has had as its goal the creation and support of a Jewish national state in Palestine, the ancient homeland of the Jews. The Zionist immediately began to relocate european Jews to four main cities in Palestine. These cities were Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed and Tiberias. India s Nuclear Activity between 1968 and 1998 I told President Clinton that when my third eye looks at the door of the Security Council chamber it sees a little sign that says only those with economic power or nuclear weapons are allowed. I said to him, it is very difficult to achieve economic wealth . This was said by I.K Gujral, the Indian Prime Minister at the time during a U.N general meeting in 1997. The context and focus of this essay will be India s nuclear activity between 1968 up until the Pohkran II tests in 1998. The background element shows that, in 1968, India wanted to protect its own right of experimenting with nuclear weapons by not signing the NPT (nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty). India in 1974 had engaged in a nuclear test, which New Delhi advanced to say that was not a weapon but was, however, peaceful (Sullivan, 2012 3). International audiences were fazed by the nuclear action by India, especially the United States of America, consequently filing and constructing laws that prevented India from trading multilaterally along with posing nuclear banning laws against the Indian state. It can be demonstrated that India for a long time, remained outside the nuclear circle of states, which was controlled and built by the powerful United States. An agreement was reached between the two states rather long after India s first tests, which marked a not only a new position in diplomatic relations, but the understanding that India was marked as a new nuclear power. Yes, if no one screws up you made it to the finish line of a happily ever after . Love is such a crazy thing, one day is alive and growing and the next is fading until it completely dies. Everyone will have their own view on love, but love is vague, for one knows about today but not about tomorrow. • 46. Essay on The Failings of Fundamentalism Fundamentalism is an espresso shot of Christianity strong, bitter, and undiluted. Fundamentalists believe the Bible should be interpreted as literal fact, not metaphorically. To them, it is God s direct word to humanity and the ultimate earthly authority. And so fundamentalists follow the Bible with unwavering certainty, as if it were God himself, and press their interpretation of the book upon society. But the certainty at fundamentalism s core is unwarranted, leading them to wrongfully ignore their oppositions own valid opinions and the potential gains that come with them. In the eyes of Christian fundamentalists, their actions are protecting God s will; they are upholding the laws of the Supreme Being, thus keeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their beliefs demand an uncompromising attitude; for in their minds, their beliefs are not just their beliefs, but unquestionable truths ordained by God. While the fundamentalists reasoning is valid, their assumptions are dubious, resulting in an absolutist mindset that unduly rejects non Biblical viewpoints. Indeed, if the Bible is inerrant, and if the Bible is God s supreme will, then the fundamentalists zeal is justifiable and the world ought to listen to them. However, fundamentalists downplay the almighty if. By their own admission, their certainty in the Bible and in God is built on faith, which the Bible defines as confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (NIV Heb. 11.1). Neither hope nor assurance are quantifiable pieces of evidence; they are feelings, subjective by definition. Therefore, fundamentalists may feel they are right, but they cannot know whether

As such, fundamentalists must understand that their legislative efforts to defend God s will from ungodly assaults (Marsden) will be seen by others as acts of condemnation, homophobia, and misogyny (Riascos). They must consider others opposite and equally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. House Essay House, despite having a sexist main character and hardly and characters who are women, is my very favorite television show. When I watch (which, by the way, is every week; religiously), I do so because of the intensity and intrigue of the program. The various medical cases that the show involves keep me on my toes and excited for what is about to happen next. It wasn t until this week, however, that I noticed just how many inequalities and separations there are between men and women in the show. First of all, the main character of House, Dr. Greg House, is a man. Whether or not the position could be played as either a man or a woman, I do not know. However, I should say that Hugh Laurie, the actor, does a truly remarkable job (he won a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has absolutely no tact in dealing with her, and has mentioned on made many remarks about her gender. Later, I will discuss how this is evident even in this one particular episode. To only look at House s relationship with Cameron, however, would prove as an injustice. House is equally rude and uncouth with his other two employees. One is black, and one is British. To say that House ignores either of these factors would be completely incorrect. House refers to the black man as darky , asks him about crime related incidents, all in an effort to spite him. This is the same way he speaks with Cameron about her womanhood. Is he sexist? Is he racist? Maybe. Personally, I feel that he is not meant to be portrayed as such. I think he is just an old, angry man. Tonight s episode did not disappoint, and has actually proved quite pertinent to this assignment. It revolves around a sixteen year old supermodel who has a panic attack on the runway, punches a fellow model, and then collapses to the ground, unable to move, but still aware of what is around her. When she arrives at the hospital, her father admits to giving her Valium prior to her performance in order to help with nerves. Also, he later admits to having had sex with her a year or so again. House is not concerned with this information, and decided to keep the father around to ask him more questions about the daughter. Cameron, however, finds this information very troubling and reports him. At the very end of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. A Research Study On Finance And Economics Two years ago while I offered a research job at Cambridge in applied economics, one of my friends jokingly quipped that one day I would be the next Raghuram Rajan, who had just taken over as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India following his academic position. I smiled as I had then not considered the possibility of becoming an academic who could wield such power in designing policies to govern the financial institution of the world s largest democracy. In retrospect, this does not seem very far from the truth with respect to my long term career goals. I consider it a privilege to contribute meaningful work that would improve the financial standards in my country. My interest in a quantitative field like finance and economics comes as no surprise, since Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects and my forte right from secondary school. The power of these subjects to cater to practical applications in the real world setting led to my close involvement with them, which was also instrumental for my qualifying for the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad. For my undergraduate studies, I chose Mechanical Engineering over the other options, at one of the top universities for this discipline in my country, due to its significant quantitative content and for the possibility of applying those tools to solving complex problems, which I did. The rigorous pure math training spanning 3 semesters including topics in linear and vector algebra, multivariate calculus, differential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Visser,W., Hollender, J.(2011) describe Cadbury as a prototypical company of the Age of Management . For a long time, Cadbury derived is motivation to be involved in CSR from its founder John Cadbury. He as a fellow of the Quakers was convinced that doing business should aim to solve social issues. I absolutely love what it stands for and what it has done . . . the whole idea that doing good is good for business . In 2010 Cadbury was sold to the multinational food corporation which merged with Heinz later on and is now operating under the name Mondelez. The takeover for $21,8 billion finally ending an area of the Quaker ideology in the company.
