The Biggest Earthquake Ever
May 22nd, 1960 this date will forever be in the records of history as one of the days when humanity
has witness the power of nature like never before and until today there hasn t been anything similar
to this cataclysm. Earthquakes are known around the world for their destruction and its killing path
that in the most powerful situations they can provoke. An earthquake happens when two blocks of
the earth suddenly slip past one another and the surface where they slip is called the fault. The
location of the earthquake above the surface is called the epicenter. Earthquakes has foreshocks
and aftershocks this are these are smaller earthquakes that take place before and after the main
shocks in the same Area. Aftershocks can still taking place after the main shock for weeks and
months and create more destruction in the zones that have already been affected by an
earthquake. The 1960 earthquake the biggest earthquake ever recorder had a foreshock
magnitude of 8.1 and was followed by a 9.5 earthquake that completely destroyed the city of
Valdivia and affected many others part of the world with tsunamis in almost all the pacific ocean it
also caused the eruption of a volcano in Chile adding more destruction to this country and costing

Nearly seven years ago, when I started working for the local DirecTV installation company, it
wasn t exactly a dream come true. I had the aptitude for it, having worked previously as a home
theatre installer back in Kansas City, but this job was much easier by comparison. What made this

The best part of this situation for me was the pay. I was making $12.50 per inspection. That s
over $1500 per week! Despite the great pay, I had been unemployed for nearly a month before
starting this job and because of tool costs to get started hadn t taken home much during my first
week as an installer. The first paycheck I received had an error in it. I was told by my Manager at
the Paducah Office to call the corporate office and talk to payroll directly and they would handle it.
I regularly heard new employees being told, Call payroll and ask for an advance , not just due to
pay errors, but also to cover the startup costs of tools and ladders. This advice would soon lead to

For the first time in several months I was going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my daughter for the
weekend. I had received one puny paycheck and one nice one, but had spent everything to get

My First Day At Work
First Day At Work It was my first day at work and I thought to myself, Is my hair straight? Are
these the right clothes? Are the people going to be mean? I walked in with confidence in my face
as the sliding doors opened for me. It was busy and every register was full of people. At least ten
customers were in each line. I walked in and walked to the supervisor. I m ready to work, I said
with a big smile. He looked at me as welcoming as ever and walked me over to behind the counter.
He gave me an old, plastic bag full of money and a solid, black register tray that looked well used.
Count this, he said in a frantic manner as I heard a loud crash take place across the store.

How much do gender roles mean to you? In the story, The Chase by Annie Dillard, a young girl,
Annie, grows up in a town where being a girl didn t affect how she grew up. When Annie was a
child she played football, baseball and threw snowballs with the boys. So as you can see being a
girl in Annie s neighborhood didn t affect her, but as everyone grows up, we all realize that gender
roles really do matter. We all probably grew up with boys and girls, but all places were different.
One might have grown up in a town where you weren t allowed to do certain things because you
