Pharmaceutical Practices
Obstruction of Generic Pharmaceuticals in the Marketplace
It has been estimated that most of the major pharmaceutical companies have engaged in some unusual
practices to keep generic equivalents of their products from entering the marketplace. These measures
usually have a negative effect on consumers and health care plan providers, prohibiting them from
buying equally effective products at a discounted rate. The objective of the major pharmaceutical
companies in attempting to prevent generics from entering the market is clearly to provide their
shareholders with exceptional profits. Some would argue that there is a morality argument to be made
against big pharma in these cases of market manipulation. We will explore the moral ... Show more

Trying to delay this patent expiration is the most common method of keeping generics off the street.
Every single hour that a generic is kept off of the shelves, it only means more sale of the original
pharmaceutical. Even if the patent lawsuit has no merit, the delay due to legal filings and court tie ups
can buy valuable time for the original patent holder. Below you will find several examples of brand
name pharmaceuticals that have enjoyed a longer monopolistic life due to some innovative, yet highly
controversial techniques:
 Tamoxifen, which is sold under the brand name Nolvadex, is an example of company collusion.
The generic version only sells for about 5 percent less than that of Nolvadex, which is made by
AstraZeneca. The meager discount is a result of a private agreement between Barr and Zeneca, made
after they left the courtroom. Under that pact, Zeneca paid Barr $21 million and Barr agreed to sell
Zeneca s drug rather than produce its own version. Zeneca became AstraZeneca in a 1999 merger.
 An often repeated example is the way Eli Lilly prevented the Lupin group from entering into the
generic market for a drug. It got a patent for about 70 different chemical processes used to make the
relevant drug.
 The example of Cephalon has truly become the way that businesses have skirted the 1984
legislation acts. Instead of defending its patent in court, they paid the competing generic
manufacturers

Texas Health Presbyterian Plano Personal Statement
Volunteering at Texas Health Presbyterian Plano is my way of giving back to the community while
developing critical social skills, and gaining important medical field exposure along the way. It s an
opportunity to change a person s life, including my own. I volunteered at two hospitals last summer
and I m well acquainted with what volunteering entails and would more than love to do it again.
Through this hospital volunteer program, I hope to discover my own passions and talents, while also
developing skills that I will utilize throughout my entire high school and college experience.
When giving medical care and treatment to kids especially, you are helping an entire family. Their
world comes apart when their child is injured or sick. In the future, I hope to one day be a pediatrician
and restore that world for parents and their children. By volunteering at various hospitals, and
especially Texas Health Plano, I will be broadening my horizons as well as experiencing a small part
of the medical field which I someday hope to be a part of. In distinction to many other applicants, I
have substantial amounts of work ethic, motivation, and responsibility. My academic performance and
extracurricular accomplishments are a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through my compassion, responsibility, and teamwork I will be able to leave a positive impact on the
patients, staff, and parents that visit this facility. Although I may only be a high school student
volunteering a few hours a week at this local hospital and I may not be handing a scalpel to a doctor,
what I do has the power to bring a smile to someone s day. This opportunity to make their experience
better is definitely worthwhile. To conclude, I would also like to thank the Plano Presbyterian
Volunteer Services coordinators and directors for providing this great opportunity for High School

Race, Racial, And Race Relations
Every individual has a particular definition of race and a distinct view of race relations in America
today, because every individual s reality is different and therefore their perception is different as well.
With that in mind, it becomes clear that the best way to understand race relations better is to
understand what another person s thoughts are on the matter. This interview paper sheds light onto
another s understanding and thoughts regarding race relations in America. I can not sate the true
identity of the interviewee in this paper, so for all intents and purposes his name will be George. My
interview with George was centered on how race has played a part in his life as a black man and where
he thought race relations are in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around the same time, he began to notice other races and his classmates began to notice his race and
comment on it. He said how this memory resonates with him because it was the first time he felt out of
place because of something he couldn t control. George further explained the feeling as knowing on
some level that everything was created with someone that was not him in mind, that society was not
best fit for him to succeed. A second early childhood experience George remembers well is having a
sit down conversation with his family where they told him that some people would discriminate
against him and hate him just for the color of his skin. This was a very startling and nerve racking
conversation for a young child to have. George feels that race has shaped his upbringing from the very
start and these are just a few of the moments where race played a pivotal role in his early life. He
believes that there is an innumerable amount of examples like these from his preschool days that are
stuck in his subconscious. As George grew older he began to notice racial divides more and more in
his everyday life. One incident stands out above the rest for him. It was a spring afternoon and George
was walking to lacrosse practice after stopping by McDonalds to grab a bite to eat. While walking
down the road, George was approached by a police officer. This police officer stopped George and
told him that there had been break ins in the

The Dilemma Of Authenticity And Assimilation
The Dilemma of Authenticity and Assimilation
Kenji Yoshino, through the Covering: the hidden assaults on civil rights , has pen down his personal
experiences of covering while growing up as an Asian American in two different environments. While
Turkle in essay Alone Together embraces authenticity. Authenticity is a degree to which one is true to
one s own personality, spirit or character despite external pressures like racial discrimination or
cultural disparity. She also mentions how technological advancement can put an end to beautiful
concept of authenticity. Authenticity is a gift of nature it cannot be engineered into anyone or

An attitude based on partiality, this is what discrimination is defines as. When one follows a stereotype
that has been practiced and followed for years this is how discrimination occurs in the society.
Prejudice is what discrimination leads to. Prejudice leads to culture differences and these differences
act as means for people to cover. Yoshino was strongly affected by the concept of covering and
assimilation, he believed that everyone in this world covers in some or the other positive way. Yoshino
has mentioned lots of examples where he was forced to cover as well as assimilate and has also
mentioned some other examples where he noticed people covering. Yoshino was born and brought up
in US, but he was a Japanese by ethnicity. He was forced to adapt the western way due to the majority
of white. Here, majority and western way is considered as mainstream. This made him loose his
originality or say his authenticity. Yoshino s parents wanted him to retain his authenticity but
contrastingly said Be one hundred percent American in America, and one hundred percent Japanese in
Japan (Yoshino 300). He was being offered a clear cut message from his parents that he needs to cover
his identity of being a Japanese when he is in America and to cover his identity of being American by
nature when he is in Japan. His parents wanted him to retain his ethnicity and to be proud of it. That is
why every summer they sent him to Japanese school in Japan. They wanted

Post Ww2 Aircraft Manufacturing Problems
Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II Jason Weber Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II I. Summary The American aviation
industry was in an uncertain era post World War II (WW2). Aircraft manufacturers were suffering
large loses as the demand for planes dropped sharply and the market was flooded. This created more
supply than demand. Manufactures expected government sales to decline and braced for it. They
hinged their hopes on the need for commercial aviation transportation which never came to fruition
(Bright, 1978). The resurgence for the industry came in the form of the jet engine. The Navy, being
conservative and resistant to change, did not see the need for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

IV. Development of Alternative Actions Alternative Action 1. Use of large hydraulic presses to form or
extrude aircraft parts. Advantages. The U.S. had built huge presses that could exert up to 50,000 tons
of force that could serially create one large piece that previously would have been made up of
thousands of pieces (Converse, 2012). For example, 4 one piece wing spars fabricated for the F 102 by
one of these machines replaced almost 3,500 parts (including 3,200 rivets) that had been needed when
traditional construction techniques were used (Bright, 1978). Disadvantages. Presses were not
numerous and supply could not meet demand. By the end of the 1950 s the Air Force operated only
nine due to funding cuts (Nalty, 1997). The forging process inherently produces parts with less
tolerance than what was required at the time. Alternative Action 2. Use of numerically controlled
machine tools for aircraft parts. Advantages. The numerically controlled machines could achieve more
precise tolerances and speed the aerospace industry required with repeatability (rearm).
Disadvantages. Numerically controlled machines was an emerging technology. The research and
development costs were extremely high, and the control systems are very costly (Rajput, 2007). V.
Recommendation. The rapid technological advances in aircraft at the time did not allow for one stand

Richey (2009) came up with four theoretical perspectives which can support to build up effective

The Mystical State Is Not Easily Achieved
In this dimension, the mystical state is not easily achieved. Furthermore, when it is achieved, it is
through ways which are used purposely, such as drugs. In the story The Willows, however, the
mystical state is achieved without purpose and without a want. This story provides many moments in
which the characters experience the mystical state. In the story, The Willows, the narrator experiences
a sighting of huge un human figures which results in awe and worship from the narrator. Also in the
story, The Willows, the narrator and his companion hear a gong like sound all throughout the island

story, The Willows, the narrator experiences a sighting of huge un human figures which results in awe
and worship from the narrator. In the very beginning of daylight hours, the narrator wakes up feeling
very troubled. Therefore, he looks outside of the tent. Then, he notices monstrous figures among the
willows. The narrator states, They first became properly visible, these huge figures, just within the
tops of the bushes immense, bronze colored, moving, and wholly independent of the swaying of the
branches. I saw them plainly and noted, now I came to examine them more calmly, that they were very
much larger than human, and indeed that something in their appearance proclaimed them

irrational fears, often of common objects. Mood disorder is affective in nature, wherein one s mood

Question #3
I don not thing that SDHD diagnoses in children is a problem. I do thing that the cause of this rise in
ADHD diagnosis is the psychological, social and perpetually dynamic condition of the world today.
The world system is rapidly and constantly transforming, filled with anxiety and nervousness and
many times with insanity too. Yes, this of course gives rise to the predisposition of related
psychological disorders, including ADHD. ADHD diagnoses are not high in children only, but in
adults and adolescents too.
Again, using prescription medication, there is no problem either. Actually, some of the issues that
causes of ADHD in children are chemo genic, such as consumption of lead and food additives or
mother s smoking during pregnancy. In fact, prescription medications, such as Ritalin stimulant, have
proved to be effective. Alternative treatments exist and could include psychological treatments, like

North America Vs North Korea Essay
Imagine a life living in North Korea. A country so isolated and cut off from the rest of the world. After
many years after the war, North Korea and America have not been at a complete truce. North Korea
holds America responsible for tearing their country into two parts, North and South. Nevertheless
there are many similarities and differences between America and North Korea.
An impoverished country of more than twenty five million people, North Korea, also known as the
Democratic People s Republic of Korea (DPRK) was founded by the revolutionary leader Kim IL
Sung after the end of World War II. North Korea began as an independent kingdom for much of its
long history. Both North and South Korea were under Japanese control in 1905 until the country was
split after the end of World War II. Located in eastern Asia in the northern half of the Korean
Peninsula, bordering the Korea Bay and the Sea of Japan, North Korea sits in a strategic location
bordering China, Russia, and South Korea. North Korea is slightly larger than the state of Virginia, but

very women empowering way. She spoke with wisdom and honesty telling the truth about what
women in our county go through on a day to day basis. Beyoncé spoke about the double standards that
women face and the despicable way some men treat women. She sent out a message that all women in
today s society need to hear. At the end of the day, it is not about equal rights, it is how we think. We
need to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. We have to step up as women and take

fireworks busted into the air leaving beautiful gold sparks chasing after it. The crowd applauded and
cheers rang out! Confetti blasted into the sky coming down like snow on a winter s day. The beautiful
Beyoncé Knowles ended the show by saying she loved us and thanking Chicago for coming to see her.

The Power of Tax
Franklin D Roosevelt once said Taxes, after all, are dues that we pay for the privileges of membership
in an organized society . Though the word, tax, itself has so much power the basic definition is to
asses a fee against a citizen person, property, or activity for the support of the government (Tax, n.d. ,
para. 2). Just mentioning taxes as a headliner on a newscast will draw the public in to listen to the
news. The word is unescapable since as citizens of the United States taxes are paid on almost all

Civil War Influence Initially few taxes did exist in the United States, however it was not until 1862,
and Congress enacted the nation s first income tax law (Brief History of IRS). During this time period
the nation was going through the Civil War, and in order to support the war Congress established the
office of Commissioner of the Internal Revenue (History of Income Tax). The Commissioner of 1862
still has the same obligations, thus the power to collect taxes, levy, seize property, assess, and enforce
tax laws. Throughout the Civil War any person earning from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the
rate of three percent, while people that earned more than $10,000 paid a higher rate of five percent
(History of Income Tax).Although the people who earned more were taxed at a higher rate in the
course of time, a standard deduction of $600 was also enacted for rental housing, repairs, losses, and
other taxes paid (History of the US Tax, 2003, para. 14). With the end of the Civil War, the necessity
for the additional tax revenue began to diminish as well as public support of the individual income tax

The Catholic Church Should Accept That Gay Marriage
The Catholic Church should accept that gay marriage is morally acceptable and doesn t contradict
their beliefs. Gay marriage has been a topic of controversy ever since the 1970 s. May of 1970 to be
exact. Around This time two men named Richard John Jack Baker and James Michael McConnell in
Minnesota applied to Hennepin County District Court clerk Gerald Nelson for a marriage license.
They were denied because they both were men. This issue of two people of the same sex getting
married is still a topic of debate to a lot of people even after the U.S. Supreme court made gay
marriage legal in all 50 states in 20151. The Catholic Church teaches to treat homosexuals with
respect, compassion, and sensitivity. That every act of hate, violence, and persecution toward them is
condemned. The Church doesn t view homosexuals no poorly than they do everyone else but it is their
views on marriage that are in question. They believe that all sexual activity outside of marriage as a
sin and an immoral act. So, if we restrict marriage from homosexuals then if they are in a sexual
relationship with another they are in turn an immoral person. Therefore, the Catholic Church should
view gay marriage the same as heterosexual marriage, with reverence and sanctity. Marriage, also
known as the matrimonial covenant, is to establish a partnership between a man and a woman for the
entirety of their lives and which is ordered by its nature to the good of the spouses and the procreation

At the very top of Aztec society was the Tlacatecuhtli or chief men that dominated all religious

The religion of the Aztecs was made up of mainly three gods: Huitzilopochtli, Tezcatlipoca and
Quetzalcoatl. Below these three main gods were four creating gods. Below these four gods were many
other gods, however the most important were Tlaloc, the rain god, Chalchihuitlicue, the god of growth
and Xipe, the god of spring. The main thing that captures the attention of Aztec religion is their human
sacrifice made to the different gods. Although human sacrifice was practiced around Mesoamerica, the
Aztecs practiced human sacrifice in a large scale never seen before to date. The idea of human
sacrifice was that Gods gave things to humans like food, rain, wealth, and other goods only if they
were given human beings in return. The Aztecs believed that the goods liked best the living hearths of
sacrificed captives. If the captive was a well skilled soldier and very brave then the Gods would return
better goods to his people. This idea lead to wars were the Aztecs fought with other indians and

How Michael Moore Makes His Arguments in Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore in his latest documentary, Bowling for Columbine , has aimed his camera directly
between the eyes of our American culture. Using the school shootings of 1999 in Columbine and Flint
as a starting point, Moore documents the fear and hypocrisy that has come to define this American
culture. I m going to avoid discussion of the specific material presented in this moving film; I feel no
need to reinvent the wheel, it would only come out square. Personally, I have never been witness to a
more powerful, more heartfelt documentary. Michael Moore, a Flint, MI native, is obviously shaken,
and incensed by these shootings. In the role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ve come down off that high. If everyone in America saw this movie, we d probably go home to the
same frightened, gun laden neighborhoods. But self awareness that Bowling for Columbine can
provide would be a good first step for many of us.
Likely to be most thought provoking film of the year, Bowling For Columbine is Michael Moore s
big, heartfelt, funny, angry, messy exploration of guns and violence in U.S. culture. The question
posed is this: Why do we as Americans shoot and kill over 11,000 people on average each year? What
causes the Columbines? What causes innocent bystanders? Why don t other countries have these
problems, even ones with lots of guns, or a violent national history? What makes us so insanely
special?
Moore s savviest choice is to avoid placing blame for American gun violence on easy targets. Indeed,
he seems less interested in placing blame than in burrowing in to find the reasons behind the
problems, to peel back the curtain and take a long hard look at the wizard (In the film s climax, Moore
interviews NRA chieftain Chuck Heston. Heston was always a bold actor, and here he bravely chooses
to talk to Moore void of all logic, proving that utter cluelessness can serve evil just as well as malice
can.)
Columbine makes a cogent argument we don t so much have a gun culture as we have a fear culture a
fear both sensationalistic and racial in

Zoos And The Best Interest Of The Animals Essay
Nowadays, you can find a zoo in any state. They are continuing to pop up everywhere, which raises
the debate surrounding whether zoos are actually beneficial or if they serve a purpose at all. However
the argument that zoos provide a way to observe, learn, and for entertainment purposes may not
always be in the best interest of the animals. As there are far more negative view points against the
value of zoos, such as the use of whips electric prods, and other blunt instruments. By doing so forces
innocent animals to do as humans say and what they want only for the pleasure of pleasing a crowd.
The provided statistics and facts show just how wrong and completely cruel keeping animals in
captivity is not right in anyway. Unfortunately, zoos cannot provide adequate space necessary for
animals to roam freely and possesses an overabundance of breeding, with minimal room for offspring.
Although, zoos may be used for several reasons such as: Wildlife observation, for educational
purpose, conservation of near endangered species, and for entertainment. Further, even if an animal is
facing extinction zoos have no right to capture, confined, and breed an animal. These awful places say
they are educating the community. When in reality they are just trapping animals and forcing them to
live in captivity for a profit. Millions of people frequent Zoos and Aquarium habitats yearly, for
observation and entertainment purpose. Annually more than 700 million people visit zoos and

Marriage is defined as a sacred union between two people, traditionally a man and a woman. The 21st
Century has pushed the boundaries of societal views of traditional marriage with the legal recognition
of homosexual partnerships. In 2001, the Pew Research Polling Center began conducting surveys to

In 1996 President Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) into federal law. The
purpose of DOMA was to place a federal legal definition on marriage. DOMA defined marriage in
federal law as only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word
spouse refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife (1 U.S.C. 7). The act
allowed for states to recognize or grant homosexual couples the right to marriage but prevented those
same couples from receiving the federal benefits of marriage. It also amended The Full Faith and
Credit Statute to include the provision that No State, territory, or possession of the United States, or
Indian tribe, shall be required to give effect to any public act, record, or judicial proceeding of any
other State, territory, possession, or tribe respecting a relationship between persons of the same sex
that is treated as a marriage under the laws of such other State, territory, possession, or tribe, or a right
or claim arising from such relationship. This indicates that if one State passes legislation that allows
same sex couples to marry, corresponding States are not legally bound to recognize the marriage.

The Importance Of Totem Poles In The North West America
Totem Poles are not just for show, but for other very important things. There are three important
reasons why Totem Poles are important. Those three reasons are 1) it showed spiritual significance, 2)
who watch over the families, 3) symbolizes guardian spirits or helpers each of the animals. Totem
Poles are made by the Indian tribes in the North West of America. There are many different kinds of

three things are important.
Let s talk about the first reason mentioned on how it shows spiritual significance. To the Indian tribes
of the North West of America if they practiced something called Totemism then the Totem Poles
would be very important because that would be their religion. They would worship the Totem Pole.
The definition of Totemism is a system of belief in which humans are said to have kinship or a
mystical relationship with a spirit being, such as an animal or plant. The entity, or totem, is thought to
interact with a given kin group or an individual and to serve as their emblem or symbol. not all Indian
tribes in the North West America practice Totemism, only a few do. There are a few different kinds of

Demand Shocks
What Happens When Things Change?
There are demand shocks in the Short Run , when things change. There are demand shocks when
adjusting to the long run. There are also supply shocks.(www.econweb.tamu.edu) When there is a
demand shock, this is an event that will cause the AD curve to shift. When there is a supply shock, it is
an event that will cause the AS curve to shift. .(www.econweb.tamu.edu)
Demand shock that happen in the short run usually occur when there is an increment in government
purchases. The real increase of the GDP is measured by the horizontal shift of the AD curve, if the
price level remained constant. The prices change and cause the GDP to rise less that the horizontal

Other demand shocks ,
A positive demand shock makes the AD curve shift to the right. This results in an increase in both the
real GDP and the price level in the short run. If a negative demand shock occurs, then the AD curve
will
shift leftward. The real GDP and the price level will decrease in the short run .

The wage rates remain unchanged in the short run. In the long run the wage rates will and may

When the output is found above the full employment level, the wages will change and will rise. This

result in the AS curve shifting upwards. When the output is below the full employment level, the wage
rate will not rise but will decrease. This will result in the AS curve shifting downwards.

There is a self correcting mechanism that adjusts the process through which prices and wages return
the economy to full employment in the long run. When the output is more than the full employment

On Monday morning, December 5, 1998, Peter James, CEO and Managing Director of Computer

the results of the recent Brand Visioning offsite code named Project Horizon. He was satisfied with

brands under a single sub brand umbrella, thus abandoning equities that the firm had invested in over

Insulate Your Pipe
No one really wants to deal with home repairs during the winter months. Keep your plumbing system
in good condition this winter by implementing the tips below. #1 Insulate Your Pipes One of the
biggest challenges your pipes will face during the winter is the cold weather. Freezing temperatures
outside can lead to freezing pipes inside of your house. The easiest way to prevent your pipes from
freezing is to make sure that they are properly insulated. You can purchase either foam padding
sleeves to go around your pipes or special insulated tape. For the sleeves, you just have to cut them
down to size and slip them over your pipes. For the special insulated tape, you have to wrap the tape
around each individual pipe, covering it up. You can

First Central Bank Case
Part I:
River City was a community of approximately 210,000 people and, because of the influence of the
International Metalworkers Union (IMU), had been considered a union town by most everyone. The
IMU was heavily involved with organizing many of the firms and institutions in the area and was
active in local politics. They had represented the workers at the large auto parts plant since the 1930 s.
Another of the institutions that the IMU had been able to unionize was one of the town s smaller
banks. It had organized the bank s maintenance workers. The IMU was now trying to organize First

It did this by: (1) banning certain unfair labor practices, (2) providing for secret ballot elections and

National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for enforcing these two provisions.
The Taft Hartley Act (Labor Management Relations Act) was passed in 1947. This act prohibited
union unfair labor practices and lists the rights of employees as union members and rights of
employers. The First Amendment permits both employers and employees to exercise free speech by
electioneering during union organization.
As the study guide states, statute and case law have defined a series of unfair practices that employers

employer labor practices include 1) interference with union organizing efforts, 2) interference with
employees efforts for mutual aid, 3) tion of a labor organization, 4) support for a labor organization, 5)

My Reflection On The Court Trip
This is a report of my reflection on the court trip that my class, CLU 3M attened on May 18, 2016.
This report contains my reflection on what I did that day, what I saw, and my opinion on our judicial
system. In this report some of the terms that I recognized during the trips are bolded, and I have
elaborated on the meanings of the terms. I will conclude this report with my opinion the court process.
Brad and I walked into the provincial court on Wyndham street at approximately 8:40 am. Provincial
courts are the lower courts in the jurisdiction. As soon as I noticed 4 clipboards that had pages with a
list of names and timing on them, this was also referred as a docket. The names were the offenders of
the case, and there time represented their trial time. An offender is the person who had committed the
illegal act. As I walked down the narrow hall I joined in with the rest of the class. We were sitting in
the waiting area, and near the sign that said duty counsel. Duty counsels are lawyers that can give the
accused advise on what they should when the accused do not have a lawyer. As we waited a lawyer
came outside of the office and yelled, If anybody needs duty counsel . I noticed there were two court
rooms, both had their own dockets. The court room was separated by the waiting area, and the
vending machine. As I waited for Mr. Fast to come, I looked around and saw some really sketchy
looking people, I even recognized two from my elementary school. There were allot of

Methyl Mercury Research Paper
Minamata was once only a small bay, filled with fish and sea life. Then, in 1932, the Chisso
Corporation of Japan opened a chemical plant in Minamata, dumping their waste into the bay. The
factory they built produced acetaldehyde, a synthetic acid which had many uses, from photography to
scientific research. The factory served a global purpose, exporting the acetaldehyde around the world,
however the side effects of its production were kept local. Acetaldehyde was produced by Chisso
using mercury sulfate as a catalyst (Boston University). The process began with water and carbide,
which were combined to create Acethylene. From here, water and sulfuric mercury were added, to
produce Acetaldehyde and the byproduct of methyl mercury. Through ... Show more content on

It has three main effects. The most prominent, is that it acts as a neurotoxin. It affects the brain and
nervous system of organic beings. The second effect, is that it replaces calcium in bones. This causes
major deformities, and often leads to death. Finally, it is a carcinogen, causing cancer in most things
which come into contact with it. In Minamata Bay, small fish and plants would absorb the mercury,
then be consumed by larger animals. It travelled through the food chain, until it reached mammals on
land. The mercury had undergone biomagnification, where larger animals in the food chain contain
more mercury, because they consume many smaller animals. Soon, large fish caught by the people of
Minamata contained over a million times the amount of mercury found in the smaller fish (Gilbert,
2004). The methylmercury was soluble in fats, specifically the fats in fish. This changed the poisonous
methylmercury into a lethal toxin, as it would bind with proteins. People consumed these fish on a
regular basis, however so did the much smaller cats. Because the cats were so much smaller, they
showed the effects of the mercury first, jumping erratically, and often becoming

Cause And Effects Of Drought
Drought is a form of a natural abiotic stress in plants that affects plant growth and is characterized as
one of the most widespread environmental stresses occurring globally (Ekmekci, Y., Kalefetoglu T.,
2005). It occurs when there is an absence of rainfall for a particular period of time. This happens when
atmospheric conditions such as climate change causes extensive loss of water in soil content that
damage and injure plant structure and disruption in physiology (Jaleel, C., P. Manivannan, A. Wahid,
M. Farooq, R. Somasundaram and R. Panneerselvam, 2009). Drought can be considered as water
deficit and desiccation (Ekmekci, Y., Kalefetoglu T., 2005). Water deficit occur when loss of water is
moderate and the stomata of the plants closes resulting to a limitation of gas exchange (Jaleel, C.,
et.al., 2009). Desiccation occur when there is an extensive loss of water that results to a disruption in
the plant s metabolism, cell structure and eventually to the termination of enzyme catalyzed reactions
(Ekmekci, Y., Kalefetoglu T., 2005). Some effects of drought in plants are as follows; decreased in cell
enlargement and growth which reduces the height of plants, decline in the water content of leaves,
turgor loss, altered cholorophyll (a b) pigment concentrations and carotenoids which reduces tissue
concentrations of a plant and disturbs or disrupts biochemical processes such as photosynthesis,
respiration, ion uptake, translocation and nutrient metabolism (Jaleel,

Solution-Focused Therapies Essay
Although we did not have time for the lecture on Chapter 15, I found myself intrigued with the
information I read on solution focused therapies. The term solution focused therapy kept coming up in
my classes, but I really did not have an understanding of exactly what it entailed. In reviewing this
chapter, I not only learned a lot, but also found myself in agreement with much of what I read. While
there is no such thing as a one size fits all therapy, Solution focused therapy has a lot to offer clients.
In several ways, solution focused therapy reminded me of behaviorism. This is especially true from

406). Empiricism focuses on scientific methods while constructivism views science as just another
social construct. The constructivist believes that scientist have simply constructed their theories based
on their individual reality and their time periods. In my view, this could be problematic in that
randomized clinical trials are needed in order to establish a form of therapy as an evidence based
practice. Constructivism converged into formal constructivist therapies in the 1990s as the popularity
of the postmodern movement in academia filtered into clinical practice (Norcross, p. 407). Solution
focused therapy is one of the therapies that are based on social constructivism. With solution focused
therapy, the client is the professional. We know that people overcome great adversity daily and often
this occurs without any psychotherapy. Often the client just needs to be guided in the right direction.
We cannot change our past; we can change our goals. Better goals can break us out of stuck places and
can lead us into a more fulfilling future (Norcross, p. 408). The value of goal setting is something that
has been discussed in every class I have taken since beginning the masters of arts in counseling

but rather with them. The assessment process, as well as the working agreements we strike with our

Narrative Essay On Driving
Driving at night can be dangerous, especially when you had a long exhausting day. Sometimes I find
myself in a rush and can t help myself but to speed. The night I got into my first accident was the night
I learned a really valuable lesson. Which is not to speed. It was 9:45pm, rainy night, on December 15,
It was getting close to the end of my 12 hour shift, at Romoland Market. It was a busy and long day.
Customers kept on coming in and out consistently. The lines was backed up all the way by the coolers.
No time to take a 15 minute break. Finally, closing time was around the corner, and I was eager to get
home to my bed. Excited to go home, I jumped into my 1996 Kia Sephia. I got to the 74 East
Highway, which was a two lane freeway. Everything was going well as usual. Cars were passing me
by at 60 miles per hour. Then, I felt something strange that was coming from the steering wheel. At
the time, I just thought it was normal for a beat up car to swerve. It felt like an alignment job was
needed really soon. Brakes were also poor. I had to stomp on the brakes all the way down in order for
the car to stop normally. So me being me, I ignored the issue and continued on my 45 minute drive

When he comes back, he tries to continue his tall tale but the narrator interrupts and says, not quite

the major conflict is that Smiley loves to gamble, but more important perhaps, he likes to bet on
animals that don t seem like they have a good chance of winning just to fool and trick people. We can
see many themes in this short story. Examples are cleverness, competition, lies and dishonesty. The
story is in first person point of view. Through a frame narrative, the narrator, clearly an educated man
from the East, presents the story of Jim Smiley, told in Simon Wheeler s uneducated dialect. i. I really

Include information about economic references from the graphs shown in the text. What are the

A MBO of Meter matic Limited (Meter matic) was considered by the CEO his management team for

How Shakespeare Shaped Society
How Shakespeare Shaped Society
What do belongings , eyeballs , and managers have in common? William Shakespeare created all three
of these now commonly spoken words (Lewis). In addition to words, Shakespeare also invented a lot
of new phrases during his lifetime that modern society frequently uses. By combining genres and
appealing to the general population, he revolutionized theatre. Shakespeare s mastery of the English
language is still remembered to this very day. Reading some of Shakespeare s plays is a requirement
in almost every single high school in America. Shakespeare has influenced our culture in many ways,
such as inventing new words, coining popular phrases, and transforming theatre.
William Shakespeare created a lot of words still in use today, more than four hundred years after his
death. Shakespeare constructed over 1700 new words, averaging more than two brand new words per
month for his entire life! Receiving credit for words like eyeball, addiction, assassination, and

Never before had someone so masterfully blend together the genres of comedy, romance, and tragedy.
One of the main reasons Romeo and Juliet remains so popular is because of the unique combination of
romance and tragedy. Prior to Shakespeare s time, theatre only targeted the rich and wealthy. But
Shakespeare changed this by appealing to the general population. He created plots and characters that
everyone in the crowd could relate to, instead of only those with an abundance of wealth. Because
Shakespeare s plays were so popular, many playwrights have used him and his plays as inspiration for
their works. Even some modern plays contain traces of Shakespeare in their storylines and dialogue.
William Shakespeare forever changed theatre, and this has impacted many

Comparing The Girl Who Drank The Moon And The Lost Thing
Antain represents an orphan who is longing for a sense of belonging and who is resilient in his pursuit
to find it. These characteristics are exemplified in Shaun Tan s The Lost Thing (2010). Both Antain
and the lost thing lack belonging. They fail to find their niche. They do not fit in. They have no where
to go. They are too different. There are significant parallels between both characters in their pursuit for
belonging. Immediately, in The Girl Who Drank the Moon (2016) and The Lost Thing (2010), both
characters are portrayed as outcasts. They do fit in to the society that they have been situated. They are
too different. Antain ostracized more explicitly as his is continually bullied whereas the lost thing is
neglected and forgotten (Tan, 2010, p. 3). However, both characters lack a place where they belong
and are loved unconditionally. Antain and the lost thing both possess significant helpers. For Antain,
his helper, Ethyne, appears closer to the end of the novel. As his wife, she encourages him to pursue
his dreams and loves him. The lost thing has a young boy to guide him along his journey throughout
the entire story to find a place where he can belong (Tan, 2010, p.9). ... Show more content on

The Code Of The Street
Everyone wants to be a part of the streets but not everyone has the heart, dedication, or strength to live
the lifestyle. There is a law of ethics when running around in the streets. There are rules that one
always has to follow in order to survive. There is no love when dealing with those that follow the
code, ones heart has to be made coal because anything can happen and anything goes. Out there in the
streets you are a family that continuously looks out for each other and let nothing separate the bond
that you have on the streets. In this paper I will discuss what the code of the street is and what is
consist of, also residential segregation and how it hold those in the streets back from achieving
success.
For those that are not from the streets or have only seen what is portrayed on television, they may not
get a clear picture of what the code pertains to. The code of the streets are certain rules one has to
follow when dealing with police or even other people in the streets that do not run with the same
people you run the streets with. The code includes rules such as no snitching, stealing from one
another and no talking about what goes on in the streets. The concept of not snitching means that even
when something has happened to you and you know who did it, you are not allowed to tell because it
could get everyone in trouble for more than what happened to you. You don t steal from one another is
saying that you do not steal from the hand that feeds you, the life in the

Literary Devices Of Wrapped In Red
Literary Devices of Wrapped in Red Kelly Clarkson s world famous song Wrapped in Red is a
successful song to America, as well being adapted internationally. Wrapped in Red is an American
song about how much Christmas influences the idea of falling in love in the artist s point of view.
Also, it s about how after many years of having a secret love, she will let her feelings loose in
Christmas day. The artist creates a romantic mood throughout the song, The song includes 3 important
literary devices, thoroughly analyzed, that make the song special and a success; imagery, repetition,
and the colors expressed as feelings from the artist, Kelly Clarkson. Although color expression isn t a
proper device, Clarkson did an amazing job expressing her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Her first statement of imagery was when she stated as her second line in the first verse, Snow is falling
down. This one s not hard to comprehend; it simply means that it s winter time and it s snowing in her
location area. When the artist also stated, So I m at your door with nothing more than words I ve never
said, indicates the pure fear of showing love to somebody you ve known for years in a friendly
manner. In other words, Clarkson is planning to confess her love, but there s a fear inside her that says,
He won t feel the same way. The richest imagery Clarkson has shown in Wrapped in Red was when
she stated, In all this white, you ll see me like you ve never seen me yet wrapped in red. Even though
the idea was not directly clear, and quite hard to understand, the artist did an incredible job using
imagery in this line. Since the time in the song is winter, white connects to the season because
everything is very clear. From the artist s point of view, her secret love has seen her as nothing more
than a friend; everything has been clear between them. Now, the artist wants to be noticed, and the
only way to do that, is to stand out and confess. It s incredible how rich Clarkson makes her imagery,
particularly with the use of colors and

Introduction
The McDonald s Restaurant story began in 1954, when a self employed salesman named Raymond
Kroc sold a popular milkshake mixer in Southern California, thus since then the company contains
over 30 000 quick service outlets in 122 countries around the world. As the company began to be a big
success around the world, Mr. Urs Hammer, CEO of McDonald s Switzerland got the green light from
the executive board of Chicago to open a Hotel, in Zurich. Hence, the Golden Arch Hotel opened its

The aim is to know and understand customers so well that the product or service fits them and sells
itself (Kotler, Bowen, Makens, 2010). Thus, Mr. Hammer, CEO of McDonald s Switzerland
mentioned in the study case, that they had done an analysis to know exactly what the customers
wanted in a hotel, thus promotion should have been concentrated on the strong new feature installed
within the hotel that none other hotel would have, The internet keyboard is wireless, very advanced for
summer 2001, mentioned Nancy Stephens a professor from Arizona.
Place
The Golden Arch hotel was located a few kilometers away from the Airport and close to the highway
(autobahn). The location was ideal and strategic for an airport hotel. But they were not the only one to
find the location attractive, as big competitors such as; Mövenpick and Novotel established
themselves there. This was then very hard for Golden Arch to compete with these big hotel chains!
The location was an extremely important aspect of Golden Arch success.
People
People is one of the extended part of the 7 p s Marketing Mix, a person is anyone that will interact
directly with the buyer, some would debate that it is the most important aspect of an organization.
Therefore if we take a look at the Golden Arch Hotel we refer to the employees, so the people directly

The Sufjan Stevens Concert Of Brooklyn, New York
Concerning the Sufjan Stevens Concert in Brooklyn, New York On the train there we listen
simultaneously, one bud in either ear, middle school style, to a gingerly prepared selection of what I
call gateway indie . Songs like Rather Be or Somebody I Used to Know , anything by Ed Sheeran or
Ingrid Michaelson. Songs that could be considered traitors to the genre arguably built on eternal
invisibility, or, more positively, songs that have broken free from the mostly underappreciated genre s
net of obscure lyrics, changing time signatures, unpopular instruments like the oboe or guitalin, and
small spurts of unexpected electronica that sound awkward to the previously unexposed mind. Then
again, I think as the train gives a tiny lurch and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ve been listening to Sufjan Stevens since 2012, before I even learned the two octave C scale on the
piano. The first song I heard was Chicago, part of an album that won a great many awards in 2005. I
came across it on the computer that no longer works and sits in a pile of like junk behind the house,
and I didn t know it then, but Chicago was becoming the catalyst for an uncontrollable, unapologetic
obsession. That winter, I picked up songs one by one from Illinois, adding them to a mental collection
second came The Tallest Man, the Broadest Shoulders (I remember wanting to dance to it, but not
being able to because of its relentlessly inconsistent time signature), third Concerning the UFO
Sightings Near Highland, Illinois. There was is magic in the runs of the flute, in the broad trumpet
hoots that make their home in the background, and in Concerning , the only song whose difficulty has
prevented me from learning it, the moving chords on the piano that go peculiarly unresolved at the end
and with each listen inspires in me some profound question whose sole purpose seems to be not
having an answer. I played it on repeat as the night grew slowly dark and the candles flickered during
Hurricane Sandy, sitting on the deck under the cloud obscured stars and in the wind chill while a
distant thunder proclaimed itself from far away.

Different Products for Different Penis Conditions Essay
When a man has an issue with size, stamina, or girth, he is able to utilize one of the products that are
on the market. This is when penis extender reviews come into play. Reading reviews from previous
consumers will allow a consumer of this type of product to get an overview to see if the specific

Reviews on the different devices are essential for knowledge on which product works and which

The And Of The Mob Essay
Then, of course, there is Lot s offering of his daughters to these gay men. 6But Lot went out to them at

behold, I have two daughters who have not had relations with man; please let me bring them out to

  • 2. Pharmaceutical Practices Obstruction of Generic Pharmaceuticals in the Marketplace It has been estimated that most of the major pharmaceutical companies have engaged in some unusual practices to keep generic equivalents of their products from entering the marketplace. These measures usually have a negative effect on consumers and health care plan providers, prohibiting them from buying equally effective products at a discounted rate. The objective of the major pharmaceutical companies in attempting to prevent generics from entering the market is clearly to provide their shareholders with exceptional profits. Some would argue that there is a morality argument to be made against big pharma in these cases of market manipulation. We will explore the moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trying to delay this patent expiration is the most common method of keeping generics off the street. Every single hour that a generic is kept off of the shelves, it only means more sale of the original pharmaceutical. Even if the patent lawsuit has no merit, the delay due to legal filings and court tie ups can buy valuable time for the original patent holder. Below you will find several examples of brand name pharmaceuticals that have enjoyed a longer monopolistic life due to some innovative, yet highly controversial techniques:  Tamoxifen, which is sold under the brand name Nolvadex, is an example of company collusion. The generic version only sells for about 5 percent less than that of Nolvadex, which is made by AstraZeneca. The meager discount is a result of a private agreement between Barr and Zeneca, made after they left the courtroom. Under that pact, Zeneca paid Barr $21 million and Barr agreed to sell Zeneca s drug rather than produce its own version. Zeneca became AstraZeneca in a 1999 merger.  An often repeated example is the way Eli Lilly prevented the Lupin group from entering into the generic market for a drug. It got a patent for about 70 different chemical processes used to make the relevant drug.  The example of Cephalon has truly become the way that businesses have skirted the 1984 legislation acts. Instead of defending its patent in court, they paid the competing generic manufacturers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Texas Health Presbyterian Plano Personal Statement Volunteering at Texas Health Presbyterian Plano is my way of giving back to the community while developing critical social skills, and gaining important medical field exposure along the way. It s an opportunity to change a person s life, including my own. I volunteered at two hospitals last summer and I m well acquainted with what volunteering entails and would more than love to do it again. Through this hospital volunteer program, I hope to discover my own passions and talents, while also developing skills that I will utilize throughout my entire high school and college experience. When giving medical care and treatment to kids especially, you are helping an entire family. Their world comes apart when their child is injured or sick. In the future, I hope to one day be a pediatrician and restore that world for parents and their children. By volunteering at various hospitals, and especially Texas Health Plano, I will be broadening my horizons as well as experiencing a small part of the medical field which I someday hope to be a part of. In distinction to many other applicants, I have substantial amounts of work ethic, motivation, and responsibility. My academic performance and extracurricular accomplishments are a ... This opportunity to make their experience better is definitely worthwhile. To conclude, I would also like to thank the Plano Presbyterian Volunteer Services coordinators and directors for providing this great opportunity for High School students like myself who are exploring the medical ... • 4. Race, Racial, And Race Relations Every individual has a particular definition of race and a distinct view of race relations in America today, because every individual s reality is different and therefore their perception is different as well. With that in mind, it becomes clear that the best way to understand race relations better is to understand what another person s thoughts are on the matter. This interview paper sheds light onto another s understanding and thoughts regarding race relations in America. I can not sate the true identity of the interviewee in this paper, so for all intents and purposes his name will be George. My interview with George was centered on how race has played a part in his life as a black man and where he thought race relations are in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Around the same time, he began to notice other races and his classmates began to notice his race and comment on it. He said how this memory resonates with him because it was the first time he felt out of place because of something he couldn t control. George further explained the feeling as knowing on some level that everything was created with someone that was not him in mind, that society was not best fit for him to succeed. A second early childhood experience George remembers well is having a sit down conversation with his family where they told him that some people would discriminate against him and hate him just for the color of his skin. This was a very startling and nerve racking conversation for a young child to have. George feels that race has shaped his upbringing from the very start and these are just a few of the moments where race played a pivotal role in his early life. He believes that there is an innumerable amount of examples like these from his preschool days that are stuck in his subconscious. As George grew older he began to notice racial divides more and more in his everyday life. One incident stands out above the rest for him. It was a spring afternoon and George was walking to lacrosse practice after stopping by McDonalds to grab a bite to eat. While walking down the road, George was approached by a police officer. Authenticity is a degree to which one is true to one s own personality, spirit or character despite external pressures like racial discrimination or cultural disparity. An attitude based on partiality, this is what discrimination is defines as. When one follows a stereotype that has been practiced and followed for years this is how discrimination occurs in the society. Prejudice is what discrimination leads to. Prejudice leads to culture differences and these differences act as means for people to cover. Yoshino was strongly affected by the concept of covering and assimilation, he believed that everyone in this world covers in some or the other positive way. Yoshino has mentioned lots of examples where he was forced to cover as well as assimilate and has also mentioned some other examples where he noticed people covering. Yoshino was born and brought up in US, but he was a Japanese by ethnicity. He was forced to adapt the western way due to the majority of white. Here, majority and western way is considered as mainstream. This made him loose his originality or say his authenticity. Yoshino s parents wanted him to retain his authenticity but contrastingly said Be one hundred percent American in America, and one hundred percent Japanese in Japan (Yoshino 300). He was being offered a clear cut message from his parents that he needs to cover his identity of being a Japanese when he is in America and to cover his identity of being American by nature when he is in Japan. His parents wanted him to retain his ethnicity and to be proud of it. That is why every summer they sent him to Japanese school in Japan. They wanted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Post Ww2 Aircraft Manufacturing Problems Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II Jason Weber Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II I. Summary The American aviation industry was in an uncertain era post World War II (WW2). Aircraft manufacturers were suffering large loses as the demand for planes dropped sharply and the market was flooded. This created more supply than demand. Manufactures expected government sales to decline and braced for it. They hinged their hopes on the need for commercial aviation transportation which never came to fruition (Bright, 1978). The resurgence for the industry came in the form of the jet engine. The Navy, being conservative and resistant to change, did not see the need for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... IV. Development of Alternative Actions Alternative Action 1. Use of large hydraulic presses to form or extrude aircraft parts. Advantages. The U.S. had built huge presses that could exert up to 50,000 tons of force that could serially create one large piece that previously would have been made up of thousands of pieces (Converse, 2012). For example, 4 one piece wing spars fabricated for the F 102 by one of these machines replaced almost 3,500 parts (including 3,200 rivets) that had been needed when traditional construction techniques were used (Bright, 1978). Disadvantages. Presses were not numerous and supply could not meet demand. By the end of the 1950 s the Air Force operated only nine due to funding cuts (Nalty, 1997). The forging process inherently produces parts with less tolerance than what was required at the time. Alternative Action 2. Use of numerically controlled machine tools for aircraft parts. Advantages. The numerically controlled machines could achieve more precise tolerances and speed the aerospace industry required with repeatability (rearm). Disadvantages. Numerically controlled machines was an emerging technology. The research and development costs were extremely high, and the control systems are very costly (Rajput, 2007). V. Recommendation. They were denied because they both were men. This issue of two people of the same sex getting married is still a topic of debate to a lot of people even after the U.S. Supreme court made gay marriage legal in all 50 states in 20151. The Catholic Church teaches to treat homosexuals with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. That every act of hate, violence, and persecution toward them is condemned. The Church doesn t view homosexuals no poorly than they do everyone else but it is their views on marriage that are in question. They believe that all sexual activity outside of marriage as a sin and an immoral act. So, if we restrict marriage from homosexuals then if they are in a sexual relationship with another they are in turn an immoral person. Therefore, the Catholic Church should view gay marriage the same as heterosexual marriage, with reverence and sanctity. Marriage, also known as the matrimonial covenant, is to establish a partnership between a man and a woman for the entirety of their lives and which is ordered by its nature to the good of the spouses and the procreation ... Below these three main gods were four creating gods. Below these four gods were many other gods, however the most important were Tlaloc, the rain god, Chalchihuitlicue, the god of growth and Xipe, the god of spring. The main thing that captures the attention of Aztec religion is their human sacrifice made to the different gods. Although human sacrifice was practiced around Mesoamerica, the Aztecs practiced human sacrifice in a large scale never seen before to date. The idea of human sacrifice was that Gods gave things to humans like food, rain, wealth, and other goods only if they were given human beings in return. The Aztecs believed that the goods liked best the living hearths of sacrificed captives. If the captive was a well skilled soldier and very brave then the Gods would return better goods to his people. How Michael Moore Makes His Arguments in Bowling for Columbine Michael Moore in his latest documentary, Bowling for Columbine , has aimed his camera directly between the eyes of our American culture. Using the school shootings of 1999 in Columbine and Flint as a starting point, Moore documents the fear and hypocrisy that has come to define this American culture. I m going to avoid discussion of the specific material presented in this moving film; I feel no need to reinvent the wheel, it would only come out square. But self awareness that Bowling for Columbine can provide would be a good first step for many of us. Likely to be most thought provoking film of the year, Bowling For Columbine is Michael Moore s big, heartfelt, funny, angry, messy exploration of guns and violence in U.S. culture. The question posed is this: Why do we as Americans shoot and kill over 11,000 people on average each year? What causes the Columbines? What causes innocent bystanders? Why don t other countries have these problems, even ones with lots of guns, or a violent national history? What makes us so insanely special? Moore s savviest choice is to avoid placing blame for American gun violence on easy targets. Indeed, he seems less interested in placing blame than in burrowing in to find the reasons behind the problems, to peel back the curtain and take a long hard look at the wizard (In the film s climax, Moore interviews NRA chieftain Chuck Heston. Heston was always a bold actor, and here he bravely chooses to talk to Moore void of all logic, proving that utter cluelessness can serve evil just as well as malice can.) The act allowed for states to recognize or grant homosexual couples the right to marriage but prevented those same couples from receiving the federal benefits of marriage. • 32. Cause And Effects Of Drought Drought is a form of a natural abiotic stress in plants that affects plant growth and is characterized as one of the most widespread environmental stresses occurring globally (Ekmekci, Y., Kalefetoglu T., 2005). It occurs when there is an absence of rainfall for a particular period of time. This happens when atmospheric conditions such as climate change causes extensive loss of water in soil content that damage and injure plant structure and disruption in physiology (Jaleel, C., P. Manivannan, A. Wahid, M. Farooq, R. Somasundaram and R. Panneerselvam, 2009). Drought can be considered as water deficit and desiccation (Ekmekci, Y., Kalefetoglu T., 2005). Water deficit occur when loss of water is moderate and the stomata of the plants closes resulting to a limitation of gas exchange (Jaleel, C., et.al., 2009). Desiccation occur when there is an extensive loss of water that results to a disruption in the plant s metabolism, cell structure and eventually to the termination of enzyme catalyzed reactions (Ekmekci, Y., Kalefetoglu T., 2005). Some effects of drought in plants are as follows; decreased in cell enlargement and growth which reduces the height of plants, decline in the water content of leaves, turgor loss, altered cholorophyll (a b) pigment concentrations and carotenoids which reduces tissue concentrations of a plant and disturbs or disrupts biochemical processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, ion uptake, translocation and nutrient metabolism (Jaleel, ... The night I got into my first accident was the night I learned a really valuable lesson. Which is not to speed. It was 9:45pm, rainy night, on December 15, It was getting close to the end of my 12 hour shift, at Romoland Market. It was a busy and long day. Customers kept on coming in and out consistently. The lines was backed up all the way by the coolers. No time to take a 15 minute break. Finally, closing time was around the corner, and I was eager to get home to my bed. Excited to go home, I jumped into my 1996 Kia Sephia. I got to the 74 East Highway, which was a two lane freeway. Everything was going well as usual. Cars were passing me by at 60 miles per hour. Then, I felt something strange that was coming from the steering wheel. At the time, I just thought it was normal for a beat up car to swerve. It felt like an alignment job was needed really soon. Brakes were also poor. I had to stomp on the brakes all the way down in order for the car to stop normally. So me being me, I ignored the issue and continued on my 45 minute drive home, which was in Loma Linda. Traffic was slowing down, that s when my body started to feel weak, and my eyelids was so heavy, I was trying my best to keep them opened, from how tired I was. I was struggling to keep them up. Minutes went by, and I decided to speed up an extra 10 miles per ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We can see many themes in this short story. Examples are cleverness, competition, lies and dishonesty. The story is in first person point of view. Through a frame narrative, the narrator, clearly an educated man from the East, presents the story of Jim Smiley, told in Simon Wheeler s uneducated dialect. i. The richest imagery Clarkson has shown in Wrapped in Red was when she stated, In all this white, you ll see me like you ve never seen me yet wrapped in red. Even though the idea was not directly clear, and quite hard to understand, the artist did an incredible job using imagery in this line.
