Comparison Between Ancient And China
Identification and Evaluation of Sources
For this project, the following investigation will attempt to answer the question, What are the
similarities and differences in the roles of geography in ancient Japan and ancient China? This
question is very relevant because it s important to know the differences in cultures and to know as
much about them as possible; especially with cultures as similar as Japan and Chinas , it s important to
show the differences. It will be showing how geography can affect two cultures in ancient times. The
times that will be the main focus of the research will be from 1600 BCE to 600 CE and will be center
on the geography and how the geography can affect the people in Japan and China. Using mostly
books and websites will make this investigation a reality.
The origin Japan: A Global Studies Handbook is a book written by Lucien Ellington in 2002 in

book is a secondary source. It was published in Santa Barbara, California and manufactured in the
United States. Although it may not be written in Japan, where the book is based upon, and it said it is

Serena s Door-Personal Narrative
My eyes are stinging from the bright florescent light hanging from the ceiling, like the feeling of
uneasiness thats been settling in my chest since i woke up on this thin peice of foam. It smells used
and pissy, it reminds me of the yoga matts we used in my middle school gym. If it wasnt for the dead

prime location for me and my two younger sisters to play hide and seek. There goes that feeling again

Pros And Cons Of The Us Constitution
The majority of Americans have in general an incredibly positive view of their Constitution, believing
that it strikes a good balance between effective government and protection of individual liberty.
However, the Constitution does have a huge number of critics that claim that it is no longer fit for its
purpose. The US constitution is seen by many to be an incredibly important aspect of the US
governmental system. The constitution purposefully has an incredibly large amount of vagueness for
such an important document and this has allowed for a large amount of changes which have been
necessary as time has progressed, an example of this is the transformation of power from different
branches of the government to the executive. This has allowed the constitution to change with the
times and not become extremely outdated. This is incredibly key as if the document was written with
no excess room then the Constitution would not have been able to move or adjust with the social
needs of the country thus leaving the constitution extremely outdated and would ... Show more content

This system was Initially set as the forefathers were afraid of the mob meaning that they feared that a
national popular vote would create a tyranny of the majority. However, this system is extremely
outdated and no longer represents the people when electing their president. The electoral college can
mean that the winner of the popular vote does not then win the presidency. An example of this is the
latest presidential election where Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by a total of approximately 2.9
million votes whilst trump won the presidency. This example goes part of the way to show how
outdated and irrelevant the system has become. Full electoral reform which is what is needed, would
not be possible with the current Constitution, leading to the fact that the constitution is no longer fit

Cole Stryker What Is Wrong With Public Shaming
What s wrong with public shaming? An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth (Hammurabi). Now in
this day and age most might say this is excessive, but when it comes to public shaming, far too many
are not quite as hesitant. In Cole Stryker s excerpt The Problem with Public Shaming, he makes it
quite clear that there are better ways to punish an individual rather than ruining their lives by publicly
humiliating them. Cole states public shaming is a thing of the past and should find new ways to treat
criminals, that to dox (digging up of a target s personal information) an individual is harmful to both
parties, and stating that public shaming is counterproductive. An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth

It is human nature for people to get even with whomever does them wrong. Hollywood the movie
industry has made and is going to make countless moves on people getting their revenge. This human
reaction not only distances oneself from the right to logic, but leaves no room for the chance of
forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is resentment towards a certain person or a multitude of
people. Cole gives many examples of the counterproductive ways that deal with public shaming. For
example, when someone is effected by a crime and they look for help from local police forces, but are
rejected from such task force. This rejection now casts an ideology that all police officers do not care,
in return leaving a disdainful image of all police officers. Now with the case Black Lives Matter, this
organization preaches to the masses that police officers are patrolling the streets look for young black
men to kill. This movement stemmed from no justice being brought forward to the accused criminal.
There has been multiple incidents like the one previously stated which is why such a hatred has been
casted upon all police forces in America. Rather than jailing the person responsible, a mere slap on the
wrist is all that happens. Police officers all over America are scared to do their job, living in the
shadows trying to keep themselves on the right side of the ledger. Trying to keep as much distance as
possible away from groups trying to inflict

The Forest Service Trail Stewardship Act Of 2015 Essay
For the purpose of this assignment, I am going to discuss the Forest Service Trail Stewardship Act of
2015, H.R. 845 (the Horse, 2016). The bill was introduced on April 29, 2015 by Cynthia Lummis
member of the Republican Party, representing the state of Wyoming and Tim Walz member of the
Democratic Party, representing the state of Minnesota. The bill was introduced by the House of
Representatives (the Horse, 2015, votesmart, 2016). The Senate Bill 1110 (S.1110), was introduced in
bipartisan fashion in the U.S. Senate Bill 1110 (S.1110), (Back Country Horsemen of America, 2016).
The bill was then sponsored by BCHA and members of The Wilderness Society and American Horse
Council (Back Country Horsemen of America, 2016). The purpose of the bill was to direct the Forest
Service to take serval actions regarding trial maintenance backlog that was adversely affecting all trail
users on many National Forests at that time, including equestrians (the Horse, 2016, American Horse
Council, 2016). The bill would promote volunteerism in the service of National Forest trails (Back
Country Horsemen of America, 2016). A study was conducted by the Government Accountability
Office in June 2013. The study showed that the Forest Service delayed trail maintenance needs which
was over half a billion dollars and only a quarter of the agency s 158,000 miles of trails met the
agency standards for maintenance. The delay of the maintenance was resulting in accessibility and
other safety issues for

The Date the World Went to War
In 1914 Bosnia was holding the annual summer manoeuvers of the Austro Hungarian army that were
centered on the XV and XVI corps there. It was said it was beautiful Sunday morning as it was bright
and sunny that day. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was there serving as the inspector of the army. It was
announced in March that the Archduke Franz Ferdinand would be attending this event, and would be
visiting Sarajevo as well. Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were assassinated by Gavrilo
Princip on June 28th, 1914 in Sarajevo as an act of terror by Princip, on behalf of the Slavic
Nationalist Black Hand Organization. This date is often associated with being the start of the First
World War. Franz Ferdinand was an Archduke of Austria Este, Austro Hungarian and Royal Prince of
Hungary and of Bohemia. He was born in Graz, Austria, and was the eldest son of Archduke Karl
Ludwig of Austria and was the younger brother of Franz Joseph and Maximilian. In 1889 Ferdinand s
cousin committed suicide at his hunting lodge. This changed his life drastically because this meant his
father was in line for the throne. Shortly after gaining the throne Ferdinand s father passed away from
typhoid fever. With the death of his father Franz was now in charge of the throne.1
Franz Ferdinand was enlisted into the Austro Hungarian Army at a young age. He was promoted often,
and was even appointed lieutenant by the age of fourteen. He followed that by becoming a captain at

The FMLA entitles eligible employees to take unpaid, job protected leave for specified family and
medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and
conditions as if the employee had not taken leave. http://www.dol.gov/whd/fmla/
In 2002, California became the first state in the United States to create the Paid Family Leave (PFL)
program a family leave insurance program that provides income replacement to eligible workers for
family caregiving or bonding with a new child and this program went into effect on July 1, 2004.

Ms. Hu, knows that he is in a serious situation which is his wife has cancer and he is the primary
caregiver. However, the point is when his tardiness and absence happened, those were unexcused.
I have 4 things that I would suggest Ms. Hu and her Boss to do.
First thing is tell Mr. Guinn to apply for Family Leave as soon as possible because he does need the
leave for his wife, in addition to that, if this case is happening in California, he also can apply for Paid
Family leave.
Secondly, consider if it s possible to use his paid leave for previous absent and tardiness to make his
total number of them less than acceptable number or not. He has been working for this company for 9
years, so I think he has right to take paid leave. If they can do that, they don t need to be worried about
equality, but they need to check his wife s medical document to refer the date.
Next one is posting the FMLA notice. They have to do this and make sure every employee

The Controversy Over Time Travel
Will we ever be able to time travel? Why would anyone even want to when people have to consider
possible paradoxes that time travelers may encounter. Time travel would open a Pandora s Box, and
one that once it is open we will not be able to put the lid back on.
The universe came to be from a primordial singularly known as the big bang. At around 13.799 ±
0.021 billion years the universe began to expand, and that continues to this day. Albert Einstein
developed the theory of relativity over a hundred years ago in 1905. Basically, Einstein said that time
is relative based on our speed and that the speed of light of light is constant. We now know that the
speed of light is 186,000 miles a second. The way speed works is that time moves slower ... Show

Perhaps it is because if there were time travelers, they would have already said hello. Of course, that is
rather simplistic to say, and based on science there needs to be proof that can be recreated if time
travel were possible. It would be nearly impossible to create a machine capable of creating the
necessary mass to slow time down and controlling it would be an even greater problem. In fact, people
would be fearful if such a contraption were constructed because it would destroy the earth and
everybody in it. Then there is the thought that we can only experience the now. For instance, Richard
Muller, a professor at UC Berkeley, has theorized that the universe and time are both expanding at the
same time and because of this time travel is impossible. Stars are staying where they are presently, but
space has moved since the Big Bang. Muller goes on to say that, as space continues to broaden, so is
time. Every moment, the universe gets a little bigger, and there is a little more time, and it is this
leading edge of time that we refer to as now, (Muller) so does this mean that we will never be able to
get to the future?
While it is still uncertain what means we will use to travel into time, the fact remains that we have
more to learn and far more discoveries to make before time travel can be ruled out. Since we can peer
into the past, that means we always had the means to go into time. It is not in the manner

Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials

The Salem Witch Trials The Salem witch trials were an important event in American history. However
this affected more than Salem, the ripples from these trials swept throughout the United States. Over
two hundred witches where accused and twenty where killed. Later the judges admitted that they had
been mistaken and tried to make it right but frictions lasted for a long time after word. (Blumberg,
2007) The main reason behind the Salem Witch Trials was fear. The location of Salem was a town that
was on the edge of the settled colonies. Therefor the settlers of this area had many reasons to fear
death, by starvation, sickness, or being killed and scalped by the Native American that lived in the
forest. The people that lived in constant fear took it out on the weaker people. These weaker people
where; the old, the poor, and women. When the movement started this fear compelled the people to
take action. (Salem Witch Trials, 2011) These trials started in Salem when some young girls had fits.
The doctor said it was because of witches and the town blamed several women. Titub, one of the
accused, was a slave form the Caribbean. Sarah Good, another, was a homeless beggar. Sarah
Osborne, an elderly impoverished woman, was the third accused. These three where imprisoned and
where tried. Two of them, Osborne and Good, refused to confess, but finally Titub confessed to
associating to with the devil. The trials of

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Essay
Definition
An AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm) is defined as enlargement of at least 3 cm of the abdominal
aorta. The majority of abdominal aortic aneurysms begins below the renal arteries and ends above the
iliac arteries. The exact cause of (AAAs) is unknown. However, it is thought to be due to a
degenerative process of the abdominal aorta caused by atherosclerosis. Artherosclerosis represents a
response to vessel wall injury caused by inflammation, genetically regulated defects in collagen and
fibrillin, increased protease activity within the arterial wall, and mechanical factors (Stoelting p. 143).
Pathophysiology
The abdominal aorta consists of three distinct tissue layers including: the intima, media, and
adventicia. There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is an increase in the concentration of proteolytic enzymes compared to their inhibitors in the
abdominal aorta as age progresses. It is also thought that metalloproteinases (MMPs) may be a factor
in the development of AAAs (Stoelting p. 143). There is an increase in expression and activity of
MMPs in people with AAAs. MMPs are present in normal aortic tissue and are responsible for vessel
remodeling. These proteinases are secreted into the extracellular matrix of AAAs by aortic smooth
muscle cells and macrophages. Increased MMP activity favors the degradation of collagen and elastin
in aneurysmal tissue (Laake).
Signs and Symptoms
Patients with ruptured AAAs present in many different ways. The most common manifestation of
rupture is back pain with a pulsatile abdominal mass and hypotension. Additional symptoms may
include syncope, flank mass, groin pain, or paralysis (Dalman and White). Unstable patients with a
suspected ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm need immediate operation and control of the proximal
aorta without preoperative confirmatory testing or optional volume resuscitation (Stoelting, p. 144).
Anesthesia Management
Surgical intervention is presently the only effective method of treating AAAs. The risk of surgical
repair is outweighed by the risk of aneurysm rupture or aneurysm related death. Patients

Analysis of Dance Styles
For centuries peoples have been dancing as an art form that allows them to physically express
themselves without using words. These are times when simple dignity of movement can fulfill the
function of a volume of words (Humphrey, 1937). A great deal can be understood when a person
watches a person dances. The message that is related is strong and clear. When you understand the
types of dance the message is clear. I will attempt to examine the different forms of dance. We will
look at the forms of dance like Ballet, Modern World/Ritual, Folk, and jazz. Never the less it helps
construct a better understanding of the different forms.

women are unique when they dance they represent grace and puberty of a female. The dancers form a

clapping to the beat of the drums. In addition as they step to the music they step in rhythm and clap,

symbolize a prayer for rain or fertility. These dances are ritual dances. Sampi is a ritual dance done in
Belize the symbolize fertility by jumping instead of flat footed dance. With any ritual they all begin as
one person speaks to the audience and dedicates the ceremony thus many follows after that

hopes to create and bless the families and others with great fertility and the healthy birth of a child
with any family. There is no known evidence that proves that these types of rituals work but people
continue to partake in the rituals.
Folk Dance For centuries folk dancing has been around since the beginning of time. Natural
spontaneous behavior and festive occasions have been sources of song, music, and dance since time

Hypocritical Death Penalty
From 1976 to March of 2015 1,392 people have been killed by the death penalty. The number of
inmates on death row has reached over 3,000 ( Death Penalty Statistics ). These numbers show a
hypocritical side of America. This is the part of American that focuses on an eye for an eye rather than
on our constitution and its standpoint on cruel and unusual punishment. This idea that criminals need
to get what they deserve through the death penalty is what can cloud people s judgment and waste the
taxpayer s money. The death penalty is a misguided form of punishment that should not be used in
United States justice system. The United States is being hypocritical when they use the death penalty
as a form of justice. In 2015, 65% of the people in the United States believed in the death penalty (

The American Dream By John Winthrop
What is the American Dream ? The American Dream has always been characterized by a thriving job
market, opportunities for advancement, stability, etc. It is the pursuit of individual achievement
without consideration for moral or legal restrictions (Angulski, 2013). This idea dates back as far as
1630 to the puritan colonists. It was first established within a sermon given by John Winthrop while
sailing to Massachusetts. This sermon set into motion the ideals that we have adapted today
enveloping the American Dream . From then on Americans put their faith in the theory that if you
work hard and do the right thing you will manifest your goals and eventually attain success and
comfortability. The dream of the time was to live in a land where there existed a right to religious
freedom and opportunity. This ideal has stuck to this day, however the validity may is no longer intact.
The American Dream is a mere afterthought within today s society, overtaken by massive debt and
loss of opportunity. The American Dream is the greatest asset we as a country possess, the fact that
people from across the world still want to come to America to fulfill their dreams, to join a society that
they see as dynamic, exciting, and full of potential, is a testament to the great potential of America to
improve lives and offer opportunity for all (Ross, 2016). America is a substantially different world
now than it was at the time of the initial American Dream . The optimism of the

The girl s family has to then save her and bring her and her possessor back to the other side. Now,

Batman and the Joker stood together laughing and the rain made his hair look tired and worn out
which was actually brilliant giving the fact that they were just in a fight. Another aspect that agrees
with me on how good the graphics were, was the craziness maintained on the looks of the Joker at the
scene where he arrived at Barbara s house to shoot her, dressed in a multicolored Hawaiian tee shirt,
shorts, a manual switch film camera and a revolver. I think all these effects were put to good use in
designing the image of the Joker on showing how twisted he got after his extraordinary transformation

As many traits exist among humans, it will be discussed as to how traits differ between individuals,
and how the combination and interaction of various traits forms a personality that is unique to each
individual.
BackgroundPsychology
Psychology is the science of mind and behavior. Its immediate goal is to understand behavior and
mental processes by researching and establishing both general principles and specific cases. For many
practitioners, one goal of applied psychology is to benefit society...
For over two hundred years the study of traits has been a continued interest for trait theorists. In 1936
pioneering psychologist Gordon Allport began applying the principles of scientific taxonomy to the
study of character traits, developing a cohesive theory of personality as a generalized, rather than
specific, manifestation (Olivarez, 2010, para.1).In Allport s approach, human traits also referred to as
dispositions could be categorized into three classes: central traits, common traits, and cardinal traits.
Central traits are basic to an individual s personality, whereas secondary traits are more peripheral.
Common traits are those recognized within a culture and may vary between cultures. Cardinal traits
are those by which an individual may be strongly recognized.
Additionally, Allport asserted that a person s traits could be measured,

The Slaves And Effects Of Slavery By Frederick Douglass
1. Slavery is an institution that repetitively separates family members and close friends from each
other, without any regard to those people. This aids in disrupting the heteronormative nuclear family
relationship greatly. Frederick Douglass said that My mother and I were separated when I was but an

New England And Chesapeake Colonies Analysis
Starting off as a single colony, the New England colony eventually expanded to form the Middle
colonies, Southern colonies, and the Chesapeake colonies. The Chesapeake and New England colonies
both stemmed from England, but developed in a way that made them each very unique in the way that
they developed. Developing around different intentions, the New England and Chesapeake colonies
were unique due to their different economic and social structures. The social interactions that the New
England and Chesapeake colonies had between Indians and their own people were very different due
to alternate motives. Documents A and H each show the steps taken in order to achieve social unity. It
is obvious that the two colonies didn t have the best relationship with the Indians, but both colonies
had different approaches when it came to mending relationships. Bacon s Rebellion was a revolt
against Governor Berkeley of Virginia in 1676 that started due to Berkeley s resistance of not fighting
against the Indians because of the fur trade. This showed that the Chesapeake colony would rather
take a better economy as opposed to stable social interactions, Now let us compare these things
together and see what sponges have sucked up the public treasure and whether it has not been
privately contrived away by unworthy favorites and juggling parasites whose tottering fortunes have
been repaired and supported at the public charge (Doc H). This statement by Nathaniel Bacon

Analysis Of The Film Ray Charles
Movie Review Extra credit Essay
For this greatly appreciated extra credit opportunity given to us, I decided to do a critical analysis on
the film Ray (2004) about the life of Ray Charles. The director of this film, Taylor Hackford, has done
a fantastic job unfolding real life story of experiences that Ray Charles had, while using a classical
narrative structure. The film Ray was such a great tribute to one of the most influential pioneers of
jazz music who was known as the father of soul during the 1940 s to the 1950 s. Jamie Foxx was the
actor who played the role as Ray Charles in this Universal Pictures film that was released in theatres
in the year 2004. The plot to this award winning film was to capture the hard life struggles that helped

Musically, this film helped portray just how talented Ray Charles was, with the help of trained
classical pianist and gifted singer, actor Jamie Foxx. Jamie Foxx was able to portray Ray s cool style
of song while representing the historical time when fusion of swing, bop, R B, gospel, and rock were
developed in the jazz scene. The film Ray provides an unflinching portrait of Ray Charles musical
genius while overcoming drug addiction and transforming into a beloved performer. A few songs that I
recognized in this film are I Got a Women , Georgia on My Mind , and Hit the Road Jack . All in all,
Jamie Foxx played such an inspiring role capturing both aspects of music and real life struggles that
Ray Charles is known for. Since Ray Charles was a popular and known jazz artist in the 1940 s 1960
s, he would have been around for both the bebop and post bop eras, which was also around the same
time as the Civil Right Movement. The film captured the realization that race was an issue during Ray
Charles s life and that his innovation of fusing gospel style of music was a revitalized sense of black
pride. Overall, Jamie Foxx s performance was nothing of amazing and Taylor Hackford s film was a
great representation to Ray

Water Bottle Rocket Research Paper
Last week Kamryn and I made a water bottle rocket. We learned many things when we made it. We
learned that if you fill it all the way up with water then there will not be any room for the air and the
rocket has to have air inside of it to shoot. We also learned that you can t poke a hole in it or when you
go to put the air in it, it will go out of the hole in the bottle and not shoot. Kamryn and I shot our
rocket three times the first time we shot our rocket, and it went the highest. The second time we shot

What If Tonya Was Black
A lot of people have already made up their mind about Tonya Harding. Therefore, before the biopic
movie I, Tonya even hits the big screen, the audience including Liberal critics already formulated their
own conclusion of her. This movie is about a disgraced former Olympic figure skater who started out
as a poor girl who was physically abused by her mother then by her husband. Nevertheless, the movie
is a comedy sketch and was nominated at the Golden Globes for best Musical or Comedy. It was
reported that during a scene where she was beaten, some of the press laughed. This makes us wonder
why they found this hilarious. Thus, throwing out the hard question, what if Tonya was black? In a

what racial and ethnic group you are in, there is always a group of trashy people. Just the same, there
is an implication that being black is equal to being trashy. If I, Tonya was about black people, people

There are many films about black youth that are constantly getting abused by their immediate family

A villain is defined as a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or

arch nemesis known for causing chaos throughout Gotham and having an ability to bring the worst out

Father Flynn s Parables
Father Flynn s Parables Father Flynn has a talent for telling a parable. He is forcefully open to specific
events that he recently encounters. As the play opens he expresses main points in the theme using a
parable, to teach a lesson of doubt, and to not fear doubt. This sermon foreshadows the dramatic
ending to the conclusion of the play but throughout sets a tone for questioning each character and their
opinion. As Father Flynn opens his first sermon with a question that insinuates doubt, by asking What
do you do when you re not sure? (p. 1939) I believe he is also asking the congregation to open their
minds up to the fearful thoughts of someone who is isolated and doesn t know where to turn for the

Applying Staining Techniques to View and Identify...
Abstract The main objective of this lab was to identify different bacteria by simple, negative, and
gram staining. To view each bacteria cell, the bacteria was transferred aseptically to a slide, and they
were then viewed by using oil immersion, by a light microscope. From this lab, it was determined that
E. coli and B. megaterium are gram negative and B. subtilis and S. Marcesans are gram positive.
Introduction The purpose of this lab was to view the different characteristics of bacteria by applying
various staining techniques. It is important to know the make up if a certain bacteria so an antibiotic
may be engineered to destroy the bacteria. From the gram stain, it was possible to determine which
bacteria was gram positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Three different staining procedures were then used for all four types of bacteria. The directions for
each staining process can be found on pages 18 19 of the lab manual. For simple stain, bacteria was
removed with a sterile inoculating loop and placed on a glass slide. Methylene blue was then applied
until the slide was covered. Distilled water was then poured on the slide until the methylene blue was
removed. The slide was allowed to dry. Next, oil was placed on the slide so that the oil objective lens
on the light microscope was employed. The bacterium was viewed and a sketch was made. For the
negative stain, a loopful of bacteria was placed on a slide. A drop of Nigrosin solution was placed next
to the bacteria, and the blood smearing technique learned in the first lab was applied to cover the slide
with nigrosin solution. A sketch was then made. Gram staining was more complicated. First, two
separate types of bacteria were used. One type was placed on one slide, and the other bacteria were
placed on the opposite side. Both bacteria were also placed in the middle of the slide so they could be
viewed together. Crystal violet, iodine and safranin were all placed on the slide and washed off with
distilled water. Once dried, oil was applied to the slide, and it was ready to be viewed. Again a sketch
was made.
Results The sketches were drawn on a separate piece of paper and then revised. A

economics is the social science that analyzes the production, distribution and consumption of goods.
Freakonomics, the title of this book has the reader wondering what this book is about. From the title

have collected data and analyzed it to come to their conclusions on some unusual hypotheses. The

The study of incentives is how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want
or need the same thing. (16) An incentive is simply a means of urging people to do more of a good
thing and less of a bad (17). An interesting concept the author points out is Morality, represents the
way that people would like the world to work whereas economics represents how it actually does
work (11). The authors several times oddly bring up that there is no unifying theme to the book, giving
the impression the book is not well thought out. Regardless, there are some things that tie the unusual
examples together, one being the theory of incentives as being the motivator. The other unifying
thread is that conventional wisdom is often wrong, that when looking at situations, layers need to be
peeled off and knowing what to measure and how to measure it allows for better understanding (12
13). The introduction is the last section of the book that doesn t leave the reader somewhat confused
regarding what they are reading, and if it really does relate to economics or is just quirky stories. It is
interesting to see the development of their theory about incentives, as they investigate what makes
something so attractive that sometimes people are willing to cheat and behave unethically to attain the
incentive. Levitt is able to support his hypothesis that incentives urge

Bilbo goes through a change, but for the better. Tolkien s main character Bilbo in The Hobbit shows

readers can see that the author is describing the hobbits, including Bilbo himself as shy around people

was shy to show that he did not have much confidence, and due to his lack of confidence he had a lack
of experience. Continuing in the beginning, Bilbo declines the invitation from Gandalf to go on an
adventure. We don t want any adventures here, thank you! You might try over The Hill or across The
Water (Tolkien 3). He declines this invitation, and quickly ends the conversation here because at this
point in the story he is not brave enough for an adventure. During another occasion Bilbo says, Sorry!
I don t want any adventures, thank you. Not today. Good morning! But please come to tea any time

Everyday, there are people moving from one place to another, it may because of wanting to change a
working condition, to break away from unemployment, or to find new opportunities for self
development. Someone may against that they bring a lot of negative impact on the places they moved
to live and work, but in my opinion, whenever in economic, cultural and social aspect, they bring
much more advantages to those places. First, the diaspora makes positive impacts on the economy of a
country. In the view of economy, when there are more people are looking for a job, which means the
demand for jobs increased, a lower wages can be resulted, so that the country can be benefited by
getting more and cheaper labour force, which would help increase the productivity of the country, the

The Restoration Of Grecian Philosophical Documents
The Preservation of Grecian Philosophical Documents Was an Important Islamic Contribution to
Western Civilization
Islamic preservation and translation of the Greek philosophical works of Aristotle, and Plato
contributed to the flourishing of Western civilization. Under the direction of Islamic cultural patrons,
they translated these vital texts from Greek into other languages. Such actions were significantly
contributive to the revival and transmission of these pieces, bringing about their subsequent spread
throughout Europe. Centuries of Islamic scholarship like this were crucial to the eventual emergence
of the European Renaissance Period.
The anterior exposure of the Arab world to Greek philosophy follows paths reaching back to the sixth
century C.E. A common occurrence among Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, were their interactions
with Greek philosophy, and their attempts to reconcile their religious dogmas with the Greek
philosophical known truths of reason; trying to marry faith with reason. Commonalities between their
interactions produced a naturally occurring process of sharing respective religious and philosophical
problems, and it is in the latter that Islamic philosophers deserve much credit from Judaism and
Christianity, for the Abbasid caliphate s deference to translation and preservation of key Aristotelian
(and other) works long lost to the West. The irony of this sharing between religions remains that each

High school students, and just students in general are put under lots of stress and are given high

The price of the car was first decided to be approximately Rs.1 lakh and they approached and
reengineered their car model to fit in that range. Tata Nano could achieve this price by using multiple
approaches. The savings were achieved in manufacturing, design and absence of some accessories.
The target market is the middle class who want to buy a first car, instead of a motorbike or a scooter,

Brain Injury Paper
In a study by Fink, Stagitti, Galvin (Fink, Stagitti, Galvin, 2012), three male children with acquired
brain injury were assessed on their abilities in pretend play situations. The three children were
between the ages of three and six years of age. Each child had be diagnosed with acquired brain injury
due to a different cause; the causes included meningitis, arteriovenous malformation (AVM), and a
motor vehicle accident (MVA). Since the children were under the age of eight, the examiners used the
Child Initiated Pretend Play Assessment (ChIPPA), to assess their ability to initiate and engage in play.
Using the ChIPPA, the examiners assessed the children individually in a quiet space. Seeing that the
children were under the age, their parents were also in the room at a distance from the testing. Prior to
assessment the examiners retrieved background information on each individual child from answers of
the parents and medical records. For further data analysis of the child s play, the examiners used the
Statistical Package for Social Sciences and the Clinical Observation form. The examiners conducted
two sessions of the ChIPPA; which included the symbolic and conventional imaginative pretend play,
that are then divided into three sections ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Fink, Stagnitti, Galvin, 2012, p. 337), where two children scored in the expected range, while one
child showed significant delay. During the symbolic play session, children were invited to play with
unstructured materials... (Fink, Stagnitti, Galvin, 2012, p. 337), where the results were a reversal of
the conventional imaginative play results. In the symbolic play session, one child scored above the
expected range, while two children showed a form of

New players can usually count on getting small no deposit bonuses to help them get acquainted with a
particular bingo site. They might also get a matching bonus based on their first deposit or two.
Established players can usually look forward to special bonus games, invites to special bingo
tournaments and free cards.
Online Bingo Bonus Terms and Conditions
Anyone who has ever received a bonus from an online sports book, casino or bingo site is surely
aware of those pesky terms and conditions. The reality of an iGaming bonus is players must first deal
with these terms and conditions before bonus monies and/or the associated winnings can truly be
claimed as their. It kind of goes with the old adage, Nothing is really for free.
A player s best approach is to make sure they clearly understand a bonus terms and conditions before
acceptance. Through this understanding, the player should be ready and willing to abide by said terms

  • 4. Pros And Cons Of The Us Constitution The majority of Americans have in general an incredibly positive view of their Constitution, believing that it strikes a good balance between effective government and protection of individual liberty. However, the Constitution does have a huge number of critics that claim that it is no longer fit for its purpose. The US constitution is seen by many to be an incredibly important aspect of the US governmental system. The constitution purposefully has an incredibly large amount of vagueness for such an important document and this has allowed for a large amount of changes which have been necessary as time has progressed, an example of this is the transformation of power from different branches of the government to the executive. This has allowed the constitution to change with the times and not become extremely outdated. This is incredibly key as if the document was written with no excess room then the Constitution would not have been able to move or adjust with the social needs of the country thus leaving the constitution extremely outdated and would ... An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth (Hammurabi). Now in this day and age most might say this is excessive, but when it comes to public shaming, far too many are not quite as hesitant. In Cole Stryker s excerpt The Problem with Public Shaming, he makes it quite clear that there are better ways to punish an individual rather than ruining their lives by publicly humiliating them. Cole states public shaming is a thing of the past and should find new ways to treat criminals, that to dox (digging up of a target s personal information) an individual is harmful to both parties, and stating that public shaming is counterproductive. Hollywood the movie industry has made and is going to make countless moves on people getting their revenge. This human reaction not only distances oneself from the right to logic, but leaves no room for the chance of forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is resentment towards a certain person or a multitude of people. Cole gives many examples of the counterproductive ways that deal with public shaming. For example, when someone is effected by a crime and they look for help from local police forces, but are rejected from such task force. This rejection now casts an ideology that all police officers do not care, in return leaving a disdainful image of all police officers. Now with the case Black Lives Matter, this organization preaches to the masses that police officers are patrolling the streets look for young black men to kill. This movement stemmed from no justice being brought forward to the accused criminal. There has been multiple incidents like the one previously stated which is why such a hatred has been casted upon all police forces in America. Rather than jailing the person responsible, a mere slap on the wrist is all that happens. The bill was introduced on April 29, 2015 by Cynthia Lummis member of the Republican Party, representing the state of Wyoming and Tim Walz member of the Democratic Party, representing the state of Minnesota. The bill was introduced by the House of Representatives (the Horse, 2015, votesmart, 2016). The Senate Bill 1110 (S.1110), was introduced in bipartisan fashion in the U.S. Senate Bill 1110 (S.1110), (Back Country Horsemen of America, 2016). The bill was then sponsored by BCHA and members of The Wilderness Society and American Horse Council (Back Country Horsemen of America, 2016). The purpose of the bill was to direct the Forest Service to take serval actions regarding trial maintenance backlog that was adversely affecting all trail users on many National Forests at that time, including equestrians (the Horse, 2016, American Horse Council, 2016). The bill would promote volunteerism in the service of National Forest trails (Back Country Horsemen of America, 2016). A study was conducted by the Government Accountability Office in June 2013. The study showed that the Forest Service delayed trail maintenance needs which was over half a billion dollars and only a quarter of the agency s 158,000 miles of trails met the agency standards for maintenance. Time travel would open a Pandora s Box, and one that once it is open we will not be able to put the lid back on. The universe came to be from a primordial singularly known as the big bang. At around 13.799 ± 0.021 billion years the universe began to expand, and that continues to this day. Albert Einstein developed the theory of relativity over a hundred years ago in 1905. Of course, that is rather simplistic to say, and based on science there needs to be proof that can be recreated if time travel were possible. It would be nearly impossible to create a machine capable of creating the necessary mass to slow time down and controlling it would be an even greater problem. In fact, people would be fearful if such a contraption were constructed because it would destroy the earth and everybody in it. Then there is the thought that we can only experience the now. For instance, Richard Muller, a professor at UC Berkeley, has theorized that the universe and time are both expanding at the same time and because of this time travel is impossible. Stars are staying where they are presently, but space has moved since the Big Bang. Muller goes on to say that, as space continues to broaden, so is time. Every moment, the universe gets a little bigger, and there is a little more time, and it is this leading edge of time that we refer to as now, (Muller) so does this mean that we will never be able to get to the future? While it is still uncertain what means we will use to travel into time, the fact remains that we have more to learn and far more discoveries to make before time travel can be ruled out. However this affected more than Salem, the ripples from these trials swept throughout the United States. Over two hundred witches where accused and twenty where killed. Later the judges admitted that they had been mistaken and tried to make it right but frictions lasted for a long time after word. (Blumberg, 2007) The main reason behind the Salem Witch Trials was fear. The location of Salem was a town that was on the edge of the settled colonies. Therefor the settlers of this area had many reasons to fear death, by starvation, sickness, or being killed and scalped by the Native American that lived in the forest. The people that lived in constant fear took it out on the weaker people. These weaker people where; the old, the poor, and women. When the movement started this fear compelled the people to take action. (Salem Witch Trials, 2011) These trials started in Salem when some young girls had fits. However, it is thought to be due to a degenerative process of the abdominal aorta caused by atherosclerosis. Artherosclerosis represents a response to vessel wall injury caused by inflammation, genetically regulated defects in collagen and fibrillin, increased protease activity within the arterial wall, and mechanical factors (Stoelting p. 143). There is an increase in the concentration of proteolytic enzymes compared to their inhibitors in the abdominal aorta as age progresses. It is also thought that metalloproteinases (MMPs) may be a factor in the development of AAAs (Stoelting p. 143). There is an increase in expression and activity of MMPs in people with AAAs. MMPs are present in normal aortic tissue and are responsible for vessel remodeling. These proteinases are secreted into the extracellular matrix of AAAs by aortic smooth muscle cells and macrophages. Increased MMP activity favors the degradation of collagen and elastin in aneurysmal tissue (Laake). Signs and Symptoms Patients with ruptured AAAs present in many different ways. The American Dream has always been characterized by a thriving job market, opportunities for advancement, stability, etc. It is the pursuit of individual achievement without consideration for moral or legal restrictions (Angulski, 2013). This idea dates back as far as 1630 to the puritan colonists. It was first established within a sermon given by John Winthrop while sailing to Massachusetts. This sermon set into motion the ideals that we have adapted today enveloping the American Dream . From then on Americans put their faith in the theory that if you work hard and do the right thing you will manifest your goals and eventually attain success and comfortability. The dream of the time was to live in a land where there existed a right to religious freedom and opportunity. This ideal has stuck to this day, however the validity may is no longer intact. The American Dream is a mere afterthought within today s society, overtaken by massive debt and loss of opportunity. • 19. The Slaves And Effects Of Slavery By Frederick Douglass 1. Slavery is an institution that repetitively separates family members and close friends from each other, without any regard to those people. This aids in disrupting the heteronormative nuclear family relationship greatly. Frederick Douglass said that My mother and I were separated when I was but an infant... and that It is a common custom...to part children from their mothers at a very early age. (pg. 1). This showing that most children that were born into slavery would grow up having no relationship at all with their own mothers. Also, a lot of slaves were born into slavery by the fact that children of slave women shall in all cases follow the condition of their mothers, (pg. 2) and the slaveholder now holds the title of father and master. With being torn from their mother at a young age and having your own father be your master, completely takes away the chance of a child that is born into slavery from having the normal nuclear family relationship. 2. The institution of slavery is something that can corrupt all parties involved or that around it. There was no exception, men, women, children, and the slaves themselves could be subject to be corrupted due to these horrific circumstances. Obviously the slave owners were the most corrupted with thinking that this institution was morally right, but their children were taught at a young age that this treatment to black people was fine. Developing around different intentions, the New England and Chesapeake colonies were unique due to their different economic and social structures. The social interactions that the New England and Chesapeake colonies had between Indians and their own people were very different due to alternate motives. Documents A and H each show the steps taken in order to achieve social unity. It is obvious that the two colonies didn t have the best relationship with the Indians, but both colonies had different approaches when it came to mending relationships. This showed that the Chesapeake colony would rather take a better economy as opposed to stable social interactions, Now let us compare these things together and see what sponges have sucked up the public treasure and whether it has not been privately contrived away by unworthy favorites and juggling parasites whose tottering fortunes have been repaired and supported at the public charge (Doc H). • 21. Analysis Of The Film Ray Charles Movie Review Extra credit Essay For this greatly appreciated extra credit opportunity given to us, I decided to do a critical analysis on the film Ray (2004) about the life of Ray Charles. The director of this film, Taylor Hackford, has done a fantastic job unfolding real life story of experiences that Ray Charles had, while using a classical narrative structure. The film Ray was such a great tribute to one of the most influential pioneers of jazz music who was known as the father of soul during the 1940 s to the 1950 s. Jamie Foxx was the actor who played the role as Ray Charles in this Universal Pictures film that was released in theatres in the year 2004. Musically, this film helped portray just how talented Ray Charles was, with the help of trained classical pianist and gifted singer, actor Jamie Foxx. Jamie Foxx was able to portray Ray s cool style of song while representing the historical time when fusion of swing, bop, R B, gospel, and rock were developed in the jazz scene. The film Ray provides an unflinching portrait of Ray Charles musical genius while overcoming drug addiction and transforming into a beloved performer. A few songs that I recognized in this film are I Got a Women , Georgia on My Mind , and Hit the Road Jack . All in all, Jamie Foxx played such an inspiring role capturing both aspects of music and real life struggles that Ray Charles is known for. Since Ray Charles was a popular and known jazz artist in the 1940 s 1960 s, he would have been around for both the bebop and post bop eras, which was also around the same time as the Civil Right Movement. The film captured the realization that race was an issue during Ray Charles s life and that his innovation of fusing gospel style of music was a revitalized sense of black pride. Overall, Jamie Foxx s performance was nothing of amazing and Taylor Hackford s film was a great representation to Ray ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An interesting concept the author points out is Morality, represents the way that people would like the world to work whereas economics represents how it actually does work (11). The authors several times oddly bring up that there is no unifying theme to the book, giving the impression the book is not well thought out. Regardless, there are some things that tie the unusual examples together, one being the theory of incentives as being the motivator. The other unifying thread is that conventional wisdom is often wrong, that when looking at situations, layers need to be peeled off and knowing what to measure and how to measure it allows for better understanding (12 13). The introduction is the last section of the book that doesn t leave the reader somewhat confused regarding what they are reading, and if it really does relate to economics or is just quirky stories.
