I Am Not A Public Speaker
My Journey
I d finally hit rock bottom. There was nowhere else to go.
And the horrible reality I didn t ever want to face was now right in front of me.
Waiting for something to be done.
I wanted to run. Away from everything.
But I needed to face it.
I had to.
I did.
I have.
Yet, when my sister asked me to share my experiences on this blog, I was scared: what do I say? How
do I say it? How will people react?
I am not a public speaker; is not for everyone. But I believe I have finally found my voice, regardless
of whether it is verbal or written.
Everyone goes through steps of pain and grief in different ways; this is mine.
I was 5.
We look to our parents to be protectors.
My father told me growing up that what was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, all that she was left with was the watery eyes of a ten year old, and a deafening silence of
which she didn t question.
I was scared.
I was scared I would be ripped apart from her.
No one would believe you anyway.
But I wanted to tell her.
Yet, I could never bring myself to do it.
Because of him.
He wasn t this horrible man all the time; he wasn t a monster. I thought my mum had a good marriage.
I knew she loved my father, and I didn t want to ruin that.
Yet, that never stopped me from seeing him as two different people.
He wasn t just horrible all the time; he was my dad.
It came in spurts. Sometimes it would happen for two weeks these awful, horrible things then six to
eight months would go by and he would be this amazing father.
And I don t know if it took a couple of years for him to groom me into this situation; how he gained
my trust, believing him when he was telling me he was teaching me.
I was confused.
I felt like it was dirty and I felt that it was wrong.
And I hated it, but...
I enjoyed the attention I got from him.
He made me feel like a horrible person, but I wanted him to love me.
I was his daughter.
I didn t want to lose that part of him, and I was scared if I told my mother she wouldn t believe me or I
would ruin her marriage, and that I would lose the only father figure I had.
So I reasoned inwardly that if my mother ever wanted to ask me about that day, she would.
And I would tell her

Ontology of Man, Seen by Different Philosophers
The philosophy of man is an intricate and multidimensional
system involving complex problems rationalized by theoretical ideals.
In writing the Oration on the Dignity of Man, Giovanni Pico della
Mirandola approaches this study universally, wherein, humanism and the
worth and dignity of the populace is affirmed. Saint Augustine s
Confessions attempts to explain the truth and philosophies of man, but
does so with a different approach, referring to man as a product of
society self consciously misdirected by his soul. These philosophies
share some similarities while also differing from one another; however,
both share a common purpose: to explain the philosophy of man. This
essay will proceed to juxtapose and integrate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pico Della Mirandola is fortunate in that he is living in an era
that gives him the ability to bridge the past to the future with the
help of Guttenburg and Press. Previously, books were scarce, but the
discovery and establishment of the printing of these books created the
ability for information to be transferred and shared in Europe (History of Printing). This different
approach granted an abundance and variety of information and finally allowed these citizens to be able
to think and believe in what they chose. What is most important here is that people of demographics,
wealth, ethnicity and gender were given access to the same material. One can measure the gradual
increase to the citizen s access of knowledge parallel to the rising popularity of humanism. These
opportunities created an accord of optimism. Unlike
Saint Augustine, Pico was able to expand beyond theology simply due to
his access to a greater vat of texts and historical events.
Each philosopher has a varying approach to theology, but both
are based on the belief of Christianity. However, where Augustine
believes in the falling of Adam and Eve (where Adam was the one who
committed the original sin), Pico illustrates that one will fashion
[one]self to [a] form [one would] prefer (10, Oration). He declares that Adam, in fact, did not create
sin and it was simply his free

The Death Penalty Should Be Legalized
Cody Andersen
Mrs. Baker
Language 12A 1
03 Dec. 2015
The United States is divided by the death penalty. There is over half the amount of people that are with
the death penalty but there is a lot that oppose it. In 36 states they have legalized the death penalty
there are 14 that have abolished it. I believe the whole nation should legalize the death penalty. There
are many reasons as to why I believe the death penalty should be legalized in every states, including
deterrence retribution, and morality; and because opposing arguments do not hold up. While the death
penalty seems to be a stupid act, it is necessary because it creates less crime, it does cost money, But
has been historically found to have less crime.
The use of death penalty has less citizens committing crimes such as murder. People s greatest fear is
death; so forth if they know that death is an option for their actions, they are less likely to do such
actions. Ernest van den Haag, a professor at Fordham University, wrote about the issue of deterrence:
Capital punishment is likely to deter more than other punishments because people fear death more
than anything else. They fear most death deliberately inflicted by law and scheduled by the courts
Hence, the threat of the death penalty may deter some murderers who otherwise might not have been
deterred. And surely the death penalty is the only penalty that could deter prisoners already serving a
life sentence and tempted to kill a guard, or offenders about to be

Voter Capabilities
INTRODUCTION
Citizens, politicians, and officials have been in heated debates on whether Americans are capable of
handling their responsibilities that are given just for being a citizen. Voting is a personal choice for
Americans. The fears of losing rights and freedom have been present for many decades and centuries.
Everybody is concerned that citizens may not be as free as they once were. People fought hard to
make every American citizen free. Citizens who complain that our government is not perfect and is
not doing well for the United States are people who usually do not even vote. One vote can make a
difference. Citizens are extremely concerned with our rights and freedom, but do not even attempt to
make a change. Citizens are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Citizens are not always informed when they go to the voting booth and mark their candidate. If the
democratic system depended solely on the qualifications of the individual voter, then it seems
remarkable that democracies have survived through the centuries (Barleson, Lazarfeld, McPhee; p
209). Every voter may be qualified, but the voter can still lack information. Barleson, Lazerfeld, and
McPhee recognize that individuals do not meet the standards that Political politicians necessarily
agree with.
Evidence based Argument
Voters do not have enough information to make educated votes that are best for this country.
Americans will sit around and complain about the Democracy, but attempt to do nothing about it.
Numbers speak for themselves; if every citizen that complained about the Democracy voted, there
would be a change in the world. Every vote counts in America and everybody has a voice. One cannot
stress how important it is to gain information about current politics. Information is found everywhere.
Information can be found online, on television, in articles, and in books. Reading a little bit can go a
long way.
Americans need to take the time to find information and their rights would be safer. Americans are
entitled to rights and freedom, so they give up the responsibilities. Americans are dependent of others;
they want others to make the right decision. Every citizen is responsible for them and will not always
agree on the same decisions

The Holocaust Survivor And The Survivors Of The Holocaust
Holocaust Survivors

There are all these moments you think you won t survive. And then you survive. ~ David Levithan.
Holocaust survivors embodied this quote because they had odds stacked against them and were
surrounded by death but still they survived. The Holocaust started on January 30, 1933 and ended on
May 8, 1945. During the Holocaust around 11 million jews, gypsies, mentally ill people, disabled
people, and anyone else Adolf Hitler didn t see fit were killed. Hitler had an ideal master race in mind
for Germany. These people were tall, had blond hair, and had blue eyes. Hitler and his party members,
Nazis, sent the people they thought that didn t fit in to camps. In these camps they were forced to live
and work in poor conditions until the Nazis decided to kill them. Not many people ... Show more

Many survivors are still having to deal with effects of the Holocaust today. Some survivors are still
being affected by being starved during wartime. Today they have higher rates of osteoporosis, cancer,
and other medical conditions likely related to being starved during the Holocaust. Survivors have
higher nutritional needs today than the general elderly population and meeting those needs are costly.
Most survivors are poverty stricken, making it hard for them to eat healthy and get the nutrients they
need. An estimated one third of the Holocaust survivors in America live at or below the poverty line.
80 percent of Holocaust survivors in the former Soviet Union are living in poverty. Some holocaust
survivors don t have families, either they didn t marry, have or couldn t have kids, or their family died
in the Holocaust. For the survivors in this situation they have to support themselves on their own. A

Sarah Penn Essay
Q2) Characterize Sarah Peen based upon how she is described. What adjectives would you use to
describe her? What activities help to reveal her role as a nineteenth century woman? Sarah Penn plays
the role of a classic mother and wife during the nineteenth century. Sarah was a small woman, short
and straight waisted like a child in her brown cotton gown. Her forehead was mild and benevolent
between the smooth curves of gray hair; there were meek downward lines about her nose and mouth;
but her eyes, fixed upon the old man, looked as if fthe meekness has been the result of her own will,
never of the will of another (Freeman 308). She defends her husband, when Nanny questions the
building of a new barn instead of a new house. Sarah was a good wife; she made all the meals father
liked, and did the cleaning. Even though she was promised a new house forty years ago, she finally
said to father, I ain t complained; I ve got along forty years, an suppose I should forty more, if it wasn
t for that (Freeman 314). This the turning point for her character; the start of her revolt. I would
describe Sarah Penn as strong, determined, courageous, and selfless. Sarah carried on for forty years

Adoniram finally says, I hadn t no idea you was so set on t as all this comes to (Freeman 322). This

was not pleased with their living situation, and thought it was unfair that the cows were living better
than his family, he still did not know she was that upset about. Adoniram did not see anything wrong
with the house they were living in so he did not fix it; even though he promised to. This story indicates
that the men, or husbands, are blind to the family tension and they do not truly listen to their wives
emotions, nor do they

What Is The Relationship Between The Gods And The Greek Gods
In Homer s The Odyssey, we see many comparisons of the relationships between the great Greek gods
and the mortals that lay below them. We can use many words to compare the two s relationship;
mutual, parent and childlike, and a sense of early government ruling over its people. Although, what
we see between the Greek gods and mortals is the gods playing the role of a somewhat metaphysical
guide through the story we still have this confliction of whether they are friends, foe s, or neither. We
will be diving deeper into this matter in the following paragraphs below to look at how the gods
themselves reflect the image of a guide for the mortals or even a temporary enemy, how they used
their powers to help the mortals, and with this role the conflicts and agreements that are created
between the two. As said above, in Homer s The Odyssey we see many gods who are helpful to
Odysseus on his epic journey. To be more specific we see Athena the goddess of wisdom the most
taking an interest in protecting and helping Odysseus along his journey. We see the beginning of her
lending out her hand to him when she complains to her father Zeus in front of the other gods on Mt.
Olympus that Odysseus is being held captive on Calypso s island. This is seen when she says,
Remember him, a godly king as kind as a father. / No, he s still languishing on that island, detained /
Against his will by that nymph Calypso. / No way in the world for him to get back to his land (Homer
5. 14 17). When

Examples Of Racism In America
Racism is the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that
race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Racism in
America started about the 15th century between the Americans and Africans, and it is seen in various
cities today. This was due to the Atlantic Slave trade which was the transportation of enslaved
Africans to the New World, America. As a result, the class discrimination perceived here is an ideal
example of racism. Therefore, bigotry can comprise of a variety of problems, harsh consequences, and
at the same time created evolutionary anti racist organizations.
Apartheid consists of a bountiful amount of issues and disagreements. Racism was arduous as it
created many restrictions for specific people. These limitations included amount of land, certain places
for visiting, and regulated education. In America, many Africans had to follow these constraints as the
Americans had considered themselves as leaders. Furthermore, these restraints developed a major race
discrimination between the Americans and Africans. As a result, this led to many crimes such as
murder, robbery, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A common job seen for most Africans was immensely hard work on the lands, and in result received a
small wage. In addition, many Africans were slaves which resulted in painstaking work as they were a
different race. Many other punishments were murder and beatings to Africans if they had not followed
the restrictions or laws that were set for them. Africans have a more probable chance of going to jail
compared to an American. The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics concluded that an African American
male born in 2001 has a 32% chance of going to jail in his lifetime, and a white male only has a 6%
chance. Thus, harsh consequences and different natures among varied races was a major cause in

Legal Services And The Legal Profession
The Legal Services Board was created under the Legal Services Act 2007 to promote particular
principles within the legal profession, one of these being to encourage an independent, strong, diverse
and effective legal profession . An important aspect of this is the idea of a diverse profession; is this
really an issue which can be resolved within the profession, or does the encouragement of diversity
have to begin right at the start of a person s legal education? In this essay I will discuss different ways
in which attempts have been made to improve diversity within the legal profession and how effective
these have been. I will then discuss the importance of law school in shaping the attitudes and values of
the legal minds in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It cannot be denied that the situation has improved drastically, for instance, between 1978 and 2008
there was an increase of 332% in the number of female solicitors. However there is still a long way to
go to achieve a truly diverse legal profession, for example, in 2008, a study found that out of solicitors
who had entered the profession 10 19 years ago, 77% of men had reached partner whereas only 48%
of women had. This is not a problem limited to England and Wales, and the President of the American
Bar Association has argued that the first step towards a more diverse legal profession is to develop our
understanding of the roots of discrimination . According to feminist scholar Carrie Menkel Meadow,
unless we can radically alter legal education, we will not be able to reconstruct our legal system or our
society . The parity in numbers of male and female solicitors that become partners mentioned above is
often explained away, and there is a common refusal to accept that this is a result of in house
discrimination. Instead, male domination of the more lucrative specialties...so important for promotion
is said to be due to the discriminatory behaviour of clients (though why such requests are endorsed
remains to be seen). Sommerlad and Sanderson have argued that even today the legal profession
remains a masculine domain.

The Similarities Of Films Who Does Not Love A Great...
Cody Gilroy
Intro to Cinema
Professor Lee
December 6, 2016
The Similarities of Films Who does not love a great comedy film. I know that comedy is my favorite
genre. When thinking about comedies or comedians one person comes to mind, Will Ferrell. In some
people s opinion he is the best comedian actor. Will Ferrell just so happen to be in a comedy
partnership with director Adam McKay. McKay is responsible for over 20 films. There are three films
that I am particularly fond of The Other Guys, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Step
Brothers.
Ä€ Adam McKay does not single handedly write his movies. Like I said, he and Ferrell are in a
partnership and co write movies together. Adams movies tend to be a mean or not appropriate for
children. When did comedies start saying four letter words every other sentence. The times have
changed that is for sure. I would be lying if I said I was shocked. I would also be lying if I said I had
no taste, or judgment of comic strategy. Because, like I said I am very fond of these movies. Adam s
films have a lot in common including his own partner. Will Ferrell plays the main character in most of
McKay s films. In fact, he is the main character in all three of the films that I have chosen. So it may
that I just like movies with Will Ferrell. Adam McKay has a tendency to starting off his movies with a
quote, and of course he works with Will.
In the movie Stepbrothers, an American buddy slapstick comedy which stars Will Ferrell and

Huckleberry Finn Literary Analysis
As Winston Churchill once said, Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same
function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things . This quote could
be taken into context numerous ways, one of them being social criticism. In the two books The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, social
criticism is clearly an element that both authors reflected on greatly while writing these pieces of
literature. Although both novels may be seen as completely different works, Twain and Fitzgerald use
similar tools to effectively fulfill the purpose of criticizing American society. Through the use of
symbolism, themes, figurative language, diction and character choice, the authors make it evident that
these two novels are written to portray the hypocrisy of middle class America. ... Show more content

In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, many symbols could relate to Twain s criticism on society,
the river and shore being one of them. Throughout the story, Huck and Jim often find themselves
sailing away on the river or sitting on the shore. The river represents freedom for all and the shore
means to conform to the social statuses that are set in place from that specific time period (1880s
American south). Twain shows how the river is a free place for all, and the shore not so much. On the
river, Huck finds himself trusting Jim and creating some sort of friendship with him, something that
was unheard of in the time period. Twain comments on the middle class by saying it s okay that two
people from different racial backgrounds are friends; therefor, race does not matter. In The Great

The Missouri Compromise was only important for preserving the Union for that small period of time.
This is evident through the fact that the Compromise of 1850, Fugitive Slave Law, and other debates

issue that led the United States to a civil war and the Missouri Compromise was one of many events
that delayed the war.
The Missouri Compromise was in 1820 then the South seceded forty years later in 1860. Many

Economic Inequality And Its Effects On Economic Growth
The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer is an aphorism elicited from the topic of economic
inequality. Over the past decades, economic inequality has been rising and at an increasing rate,
expanding the gap between the rich and the poor. The direct relationship between inequality and
poverty has shown that while inequality increases, so too does poverty. Increased inequality is harmful
for economic growth and its effects also bear social implications. Although there are arguments on the
consequences of wealth redistribution and its unintended impact on economic growth, wealth should
be redistributed to reduce inequality and poverty, sequentially leading to more economic development
and a higher standard of living for society.
Economic inequality occurs in two forms: income inequality and wealth inequality. There remains a
dispute between whether income inequality or wealth inequality should be the focus to reducing
economic inequality. Considerable attention has been given to income disparities, however, it is
important to realize that simply addressing income inequality will not adequately address the gross
disparity between the poor and the ultra rich. For example, Bill Gates is estimated to earn around $7
billion per year (estimates vary wildly depending on how his income is calculated). However, even if
this income was taxed at 100%, Gates would still have in excess of $70 billion in accumulated wealth.
Gates could continue spending a million dollars per day,

Matrimonial rights of women s under Islamic law (sharia law) (A comparative analyze between
Islamic law and srilankan Muslim law) Introduction to the Islamic law
Islamic law is a very great jurisprudence worldwide, Islamic law is defined as the law according to the
Muslim faith and as interpreted from the Quran also known as Sharia law. The sacred law of Islam is
an all embracing body of religious duties, the totality of Allah s commands that regulate the life of
every Muslim in all its aspects. Important feature of Muslim law is the fact that there is no clear
separation of Mosque (is a place of worship for followers of Islam) and state. Under Islamic law, the
religion of Islam and the government are one. Islamic law is controlled, ruled and regulated by the
Islamic religion; a theocracy. Islamic law purports to regulate all public and private behavior including
personal hygiene, diet, sexual conduct, and child rearing. Islamic law now prevails in countries all
over the Middle East and elsewhere covering 20 per cent of the world s population. Despite its relative
inflexibility, in some ways, Islamic law is superior to other systems of law, such as the preference
given to arbitration in civil disputes. Islamic law composed of following elements
* Sharia:
* Quran
* Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (generally known as Hadith) * Sunnah, literally means path.
* The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad consists of his sayings, actions, approval and disapprovals. *

The Ideological Concept Of Insanity Defense
The ideological concept of an insanity defense, formerly termed complete madness, was originally
incorporated into the English common law jurisprudence system in the late thirteenth century of the
United Kingdom as an affirmative defense for defendants under the yoke of criminal charges
involving a heinous action which could involve the option of termination of a defendant s life if
adjudge guilty of such act (Hill). Through such incorporation of a legal defense, the institution of a
new societal grouping known commonly as the criminally insane became expounded, as well as, the
legal opportunity allowing for self declaration of being innocent by reason of mental illness or defect
(or, the insanity defense). Those criminally insane are a subset of the prison population who have been
deemed to have committed their crimes under the influence of a mental disease/disorder, or who were
not in a condition of intellect during the time of the crime to comprehend the illegality or immorality
of their offense (Frontline). Only if the defendant has plead insanity before the court can they be
considered a truly criminally insane inmate. There are manifold condemnations sustained by the
judicial system ranging from guilty but insane to not guilty by reason of insanity, as well as the legal
states of incompetency and diminished capacity. This distinction has become a substance of federal
law, but as soon as a defendant is convicted, the treatment of the convicted individual is left

Pros And Cons Of Organ Transplantation

Organ Transplantation is an innovative technology that replace the recipient s damaged or absent
organs by moving organs from one body to another. Transplantation can be performed within the same
person s body or between two subjects either from a living or cadaveric source. Scientists and
historians estimate that in the early 80 BC, Indian doctors began grafting skin to treat burns and other
wounds. In Early 1900s, Modern organs transplants began by European doctors that attempted to save
patients dying of renal failure, he transplanted kidneys from various animals, like monkeys, goats and

Walt Disney has been making America s dreams come true for years. Through their success at
managing and motivating cast members and the need for other corporations to want this information,
Disney has developed the Disney Institute and Disney University where they provide every part of
their knowledge except brand management or strategic planning (Paton, 1997).
The organizational structure of Disney values the balance between work and life. Disney has
combined business programs with personal fulfillment courses and allows cast members to bring
family members to business workshops. Disney also empowers employees to think creatively and
once a year host a Gong Show (McGowan, 1997), in which any cast member can pitch his or her idea.
The top decision makers and CEOs all attend and at the end decide on a winner. Many of the movies
and attractions that are affiliated with Disney have come out of the Gong Show. Disney has gone the
extra step and developed a different language. Visitors to Walt Disney World Resort and the Disney
Institute are referred to as guests. Employees are called cast members, whether they perform on stage
or work behind the scenes, at whatever level. Each cast member has to spend an afternoon as a Disney
character and later share his or her experiences with other cast members who are in training. All cast
members learn three imperatives: Keep the park clean, create happiness,

A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry
Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun is a remarkable play written in 1959 by an African American
author about an African American family. This time period was in the early days of the modern
awakening of civil rights awareness. It was a timely play challenging the then current stereotypical
view of a black family by depicting a realistic portrayal of a specific black family with aspirations,
hopes, dreams, dignity, and ambition as would be expected from all families regardless of race. The
play is also timeless because it presents relevant themes of preserving family unity and breaking
through racial stereotypes that still challenge current society. Robin Bernstein s critical analysis
Inventing a Fishbowl: White Supremacy and the Critical Reception of Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin
in the Sun , cites a reviewer from the Philadelphia Inquirer who asserts that this play is both timely
and timeless. We do not know if Miss Hansberry has written a timeless play ... but she has certainly
written a timely one. (Bernstein 23), furthermore Bernstein cites George Murray noted in the Chicago
American that the play couldn t be better timed for box office success. Its advent coincide with a
rising wave of general interest in the Negro. (Bernstein 23). Bernstein also notes Before long, the
votes swung overwhelmingly in the direction of dubbing A Raisin in the Sun timeless, that is, a
masterpiece. (Bernstein 24). This comment is supported by the fact this play is still

Dual Process Theory Case Study
1.2. Dual Process Theory:
In this study, I mostly adopt the two systems theory from the work of Kahneman and Tversky (1972,
1973, 1974, 1979, 1982, 1983, 2011). Firstly, we will go through some previous notable dual process
theories. Then we shall discuss more in depth Kahneman s two systems theory.
1.2.1. Previous Theories:
William James set the foundations for dual process theory. He theorized that there were two different
types of thinking, empirical thought for complex things and associative one for comparison or
abstractions. These types of thinking were later developed into the two system theory.
Evans (1984) proposed dual process theory, suggesting two distinct thought processes: heuristic and
analytic. During heuristic processes, an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An example from modern entertainment that supports the argument against the centralization of power
is the movie, The Wolf of Wall Street by Martin Scorsese. This movie explores the life of Jordan
Belfort, a stock broker in New York whose life falls into a collapse due to his immense wealth and
power. This connects to the argument against centralized power because it illustrates through the
media of film how centralized power can lead to corruption of a person s morals and well being.
Power, in this case, ultimately resulted in the collapse of everything in Belfort s social life.
Along with the social aspects of life here in America, politics are also affected by corruption due to the

1. A transverse plane is any horizontal plane that divides the body into superior and inferior sections.
To give an ultrasound on a woman carrying a child, the child is being carried in the front of the

this case is the itch. When you sense the itch, your body reacts to scratching it. When you scratch the
itch, the itch is revealed, therefore ending the stimulus and making scratching an itch negative
feedback. 3. Although both fats are in many foods, most unsaturated fats are more beneficial to your
heart, whereas many saturated fats can cause damage to your cholesterol and your heart. Some
examples of saturated fats are meats, dairy and pastries. Saturated fats contain hydrogen atoms and
have fatty acid chains with single covalent bonds between carbon atoms. At room temperature,

Outsourcing American Jobs Hurt U.s. Economy
Outsourcing American Jobs Hurt U.S. Economy Globalization is the integration of markets through
the cooperation of internalization, federal, and state governments with corporate companies to provide
low cost products. Subsequently, outsourcing is an essential part of this globalization. However, what
exactly is outsourcing? In its broadest sense, outsourcing is simply contracting out functions that had
been done in house a longtime U.S. practice ( Globalization: Threat or Opportunity ). When a U.S.
manufacture product, and buys material from an intermediate supplier from out of the country rather
than producing them in house, that is what is called outsourcing. Also, when U.S. corporation hires
outside contractor out of the country to do U.S. call center services for less labor cost that is
outsourcing. When a company deals out its operational task, such as payroll, accounting, and software
operations that is outsourcing. To get the clear understanding of outsourcing, I have interviewed IKEA
s U.S. Deputy Retail Country Manager Rob Olson about outsourcing Swedish goods. Olson stated that
IKEA s outsourcing utilizes the unique talents of different countries and their labor markets to increase
trade, which helps better allocate resources in their own countries while getting goods cheaper from
others. Today, there are massive numbers of people who think what started as a globalized extension

based on examination or assessment marks. As Cottrell (2013, pp. 12 13) shows, a quiz can identify
and evaluate a measurement of achievement particularly of a new student. I will endeavour to show,
with the use of differing methods or tools of measurement, they act as a catalyst to improve or impede
my academic development. Additionally, I will discuss examples and explain how I can apply the
outcomes of my development.
It has been thirty years since I completed by Higher School Certificate, receiving a mark measuring
my ability to recall prior years of secondary study. So, as I commence university to attain my degree,
how will I manage study, work and family commitments? Do I have the skills to undertake this so late

myself to, the initial exhilaration of enrolling as a university student was replaced with anxiety.
Scanning through discussion boards provided affirmation of the anxieties I experienced. The Feedback
I received from one participant responded I feel that self doubt too (M. Bancroft, personal

Prescription Birth Control
Prescription Birth Control Prescription birth control tends to be the most effective form of
contraceptive. To get a prescription, you can visit a reproductive health clinic, such as a Public Health
Family Planning Clinic or a Planned Parenthood Clinic, a family doctor, a gynecologist, or a
community clinic. There are a variety of different types of prescription birth control to choose from.
Some common options are the pill, the ring, the implant, and the shot.
Prescription birth control pills are the most popular form of contraceptive in the United States. The pill
is a medication that women can take daily to prevent pregnancy. They are made up of hormones; some
are made up of two hormones, estrogen and progestin, while others only contain progestin. The
hormones prevent the ovaries from releasing eggs, and make the woman s cervical mucus thicker,
making it more difficult for the sperm to reach the eggs. According to Planned Parenthood, less than 1
in 100 women will get pregnant in each year if they always take the pill each day as directed, and
approximately 9 out of 100 women will get pregnant each year if they don t always take the pill as
directed. Some additional benefits of taking birth control are reduced menstrual cramps, lighter
periods, protection against pelvic inflammatory disease, reduced acne, and protection against bone

This opinion regards service as indivisible item, which cannot be touched, distributed by a recognized

Women s Struggle And Power
Throughout centuries, women were only considered to be chattel of the supreme male beings. They
received no accountability for their heroic actions, the gift of bearing children or raising them in the

a time of massacre and atrocious murder, that oblivion had crushed reality and the warped perspective

quickly demolished along with the idea of superior male soldiers that victoriously lost their lives in
battle. The First World War impacted the lives of all women in Canada by gaining partial equality to
men, the right to vote and a remarkable spread of female independence. Firstly, women worked to
authenticate that men were not inferior to them, either through occupations, education or skill, in order
to gain the equality they willingly challenged. The hardships of the First World War, had affected the
country and its economical standing with the departure of male soldiers overseas and the limited
resources available to the population left behind. Women had bravely taken the opportunity to replace
their husbands, fathers and sons, to aid the war effort or simply for the adventure. Over 30,000 women

Over the past two decades, technological growth has had a strong impact on the numerous healthcare
disciplines. For instance, technology has impacted psychology in the areas of research methods and
treatment procedures. The widespread availability of computers and smartphones supercharged the
development of new technologies and treatment programs to now help aid previously unreachable
clients through therapeutic resources. Technological developments in the past few decades have
inspired psychologists to provide access to therapy on several different platforms. Telepsychology is
the term used for therapy and other psychological treatments provided through such means (Novotney,
2017). The American Psychological Association (2012) defines telepsychology as the provision of
psychological services using telecommunications technologies . These technologies include webcams,
chats, texts, emails, and the Internet ( Guidelines... , 2012). According to Novotney (2017), one reason
people use online therapy is the ease of accessibility it provides as well as the lower costs compared to
traditional therapy sessions. Many people live far from a therapist s office and were unable to attend
therapy sessions until the advent of these online counseling organizations (Novotney, 2017).

The majority of the tower is allocated primarily for office space, totalling in 442,928 Sq Ft. The
Offices are principally divided into groups of three floors to form relatively small office villages of
approximately 35,000 Sq Ft each. It is expected that in total the offices will house 20 25 tenants who
will use the premises as their major representative offices for the UK. The renting of the offices has a
certain degree of flexibility, designed to be let floor by floor, as well as village by village. Levels 38
40 contain a luxurious sky bar and restaurant overlooking the city rooftops. This has huge appeal and
is a spectacular and exclusive option for the wealthy, high flying businessmen who enjoy splashing a
bit of cash. At the base of the tower there are three basement levels for retail, parking, storage and
management services. The site is in an inner city area, free space is sparse and commercial business
competitive. (The Heron Tower, 2010, [online] available at http://www.herontower.com/the_building/
[Accessed 24/4/10]). The construction of this superb building started in September 2007 and is set to
be completed in the first quarter of 2011 at a construction cost of approximately £185 million, with
rental office space estimated at £75/SqFt

  • 2. I Am Not A Public Speaker My Journey I d finally hit rock bottom. How do I say it? How will people react? I am not a public speaker; is not for everyone. But I believe I have finally found my voice, regardless of whether it is verbal or written. Everyone goes through steps of pain and grief in different ways; this is mine. I was 5. I knew she loved my father, and I didn t want to ruin that. Yet, that never stopped me from seeing him as two different people. He wasn t just horrible all the time; he was my dad. It came in spurts. Sometimes it would happen for two weeks these awful, horrible things then six to eight months would go by and he would be this amazing father. And I don t know if it took a couple of years for him to groom me into this situation; how he gained my trust, believing him when he was telling me he was teaching me. I was confused. I felt like it was dirty and I felt that it was wrong. And I hated it, but... I enjoyed the attention I got from him. He made me feel like a horrible person, but I wanted him to love me. I was his daughter. I didn t want to lose that part of him, and I was scared if I told my mother she wouldn t believe me or I would ruin her marriage, and that I would lose the only father figure I had. So I reasoned inwardly that if my mother ever wanted to ask me about that day, she would. And I would tell her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ontology of Man, Seen by Different Philosophers The philosophy of man is an intricate and multidimensional system involving complex problems rationalized by theoretical ideals. In writing the Oration on the Dignity of Man, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola approaches this study universally, wherein, humanism and the worth and dignity of the populace is affirmed. Saint Augustine s Confessions attempts to explain the truth and philosophies of man, but does so with a different approach, referring to man as a product of society self consciously misdirected by his soul. These philosophies share some similarities while also differing from one another; however, both share a common purpose: to explain the philosophy of man. This essay will proceed to juxtapose and integrate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pico Della Mirandola is fortunate in that he is living in an era that gives him the ability to bridge the past to the future with the help of Guttenburg and Press. Previously, books were scarce, but the discovery and establishment of the printing of these books created the ability for information to be transferred and shared in Europe (History of Printing). This different approach granted an abundance and variety of information and finally allowed these citizens to be able to think and believe in what they chose. What is most important here is that people of demographics, wealth, ethnicity and gender were given access to the same material. One can measure the gradual increase to the citizen s access of knowledge parallel to the rising popularity of humanism. These opportunities created an accord of optimism. Unlike Saint Augustine, Pico was able to expand beyond theology simply due to his access to a greater vat of texts and historical events.

However, where Augustine believes in the falling of Adam and Eve (where Adam was the one who committed the original sin), Pico illustrates that one will fashion [one]self to [a] form [one would] prefer (10, Oration). • 6. The Death Penalty Should Be Legalized Cody Andersen Mrs. Baker Language 12A 1 03 Dec. 2015 The United States is divided by the death penalty. There is over half the amount of people that are with the death penalty but there is a lot that oppose it. In 36 states they have legalized the death penalty there are 14 that have abolished it. I believe the whole nation should legalize the death penalty. There are many reasons as to why I believe the death penalty should be legalized in every states, including deterrence retribution, and morality; and because opposing arguments do not hold up. While the death penalty seems to be a stupid act, it is necessary because it creates less crime, it does cost money, But has been historically found to have less crime. The use of death penalty has less citizens committing crimes such as murder. People s greatest fear is death; so forth if they know that death is an option for their actions, they are less likely to do such actions. Ernest van den Haag, a professor at Fordham University, wrote about the issue of deterrence: Capital punishment is likely to deter more than other punishments because people fear death more than anything else. They fear most death deliberately inflicted by law and scheduled by the courts Hence, the threat of the death penalty may deter some murderers who otherwise might not have been deterred. And surely the death penalty is the only penalty that could deter prisoners already serving a life sentence and tempted to kill a guard, or offenders about to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Voting is a personal choice for Americans. The fears of losing rights and freedom have been present for many decades and centuries. Everybody is concerned that citizens may not be as free as they once were. People fought hard to make every American citizen free. Citizens are not always informed when they go to the voting booth and mark their candidate. If the democratic system depended solely on the qualifications of the individual voter, then it seems remarkable that democracies have survived through the centuries (Barleson, Lazarfeld, McPhee; p 209). Barleson, Lazerfeld, and McPhee recognize that individuals do not meet the standards that Political politicians necessarily agree with. Evidence based Argument Voters do not have enough information to make educated votes that are best for this country. Americans will sit around and complain about the Democracy, but attempt to do nothing about it. Numbers speak for themselves; if every citizen that complained about the Democracy voted, there would be a change in the world. Every vote counts in America and everybody has a voice. One cannot stress how important it is to gain information about current politics. Information is found everywhere. Information can be found online, on television, in articles, and in books. Reading a little bit can go a long way. Americans need to take the time to find information and their rights would be safer. Americans are entitled to rights and freedom, so they give up the responsibilities. Americans are dependent of others; they want others to make the right decision. Every citizen is responsible for them and will not always agree on the same decisions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Sarah Penn Essay Q2) Characterize Sarah Peen based upon how she is described. What adjectives would you use to describe her? What activities help to reveal her role as a nineteenth century woman? Sarah Penn plays the role of a classic mother and wife during the nineteenth century. Sarah was a small woman, short and straight waisted like a child in her brown cotton gown. Her forehead was mild and benevolent between the smooth curves of gray hair; there were meek downward lines about her nose and mouth; but her eyes, fixed upon the old man, looked as if fthe meekness has been the result of her own will, never of the will of another (Freeman 308). She defends her husband, when Nanny questions the building of a new barn instead of a new house. Sarah was a good wife; she made all the meals father liked, and did the cleaning. Even though she was promised a new house forty years ago, she finally said to father, I ain t complained; I ve got along forty years, an suppose I should forty more, if it wasn t for that (Freeman 314). This the turning point for her character; the start of her revolt. I would describe Sarah Penn as strong, determined, courageous, and selfless. Sarah carried on for forty years in an ... • 11. What Is The Relationship Between The Gods And The Greek Gods In Homer s The Odyssey, we see many comparisons of the relationships between the great Greek gods and the mortals that lay below them. We can use many words to compare the two s relationship; mutual, parent and childlike, and a sense of early government ruling over its people. Although, what we see between the Greek gods and mortals is the gods playing the role of a somewhat metaphysical guide through the story we still have this confliction of whether they are friends, foe s, or neither. We will be diving deeper into this matter in the following paragraphs below to look at how the gods themselves reflect the image of a guide for the mortals or even a temporary enemy, how they used their powers to help the mortals, and with this role the conflicts and agreements that are created between the two. As said above, in Homer s The Odyssey we see many gods who are helpful to Odysseus on his epic journey. To be more specific we see Athena the goddess of wisdom the most taking an interest in protecting and helping Odysseus along his journey. We see the beginning of her lending out her hand to him when she complains to her father Zeus in front of the other gods on Mt. Olympus that Odysseus is being held captive on Calypso s island. This is seen when she says, Remember him, a godly king as kind as a father. / No, he s still languishing on that island, detained / Against his will by that nymph Calypso. / No way in the world for him to get back to his land (Homer 5. 14 17). Examples Of Racism In America Racism is the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Racism in America started about the 15th century between the Americans and Africans, and it is seen in various cities today. This was due to the Atlantic Slave trade which was the transportation of enslaved Africans to the New World, America. As a result, the class discrimination perceived here is an ideal example of racism. Therefore, bigotry can comprise of a variety of problems, harsh consequences, and at the same time created evolutionary anti racist organizations. Apartheid consists of a bountiful amount of issues and disagreements. Racism was arduous as it created many restrictions for specific people. These limitations included amount of land, certain places for visiting, and regulated education. It cannot be denied that the situation has improved drastically, for instance, between 1978 and 2008 there was an increase of 332% in the number of female solicitors. However there is still a long way to go to achieve a truly diverse legal profession, for example, in 2008, a study found that out of solicitors who had entered the profession 10 19 years ago, 77% of men had reached partner whereas only 48% of women had. This is not a problem limited to England and Wales, and the President of the American Bar Association has argued that the first step towards a more diverse legal profession is to develop our understanding of the roots of discrimination . According to feminist scholar Carrie Menkel Meadow, unless we can radically alter legal education, we will not be able to reconstruct our legal system or our society . The parity in numbers of male and female solicitors that become partners mentioned above is often explained away, and there is a common refusal to accept that this is a result of in house discrimination. Instead, male domination of the more lucrative specialties...so important for promotion is said to be due to the discriminatory behaviour of clients (though why such requests are endorsed remains to be seen). I know that comedy is my favorite genre. When thinking about comedies or comedians one person comes to mind, Will Ferrell. In some people s opinion he is the best comedian actor. Will Ferrell just so happen to be in a comedy partnership with director Adam McKay. McKay is responsible for over 20 films. There are three films that I am particularly fond of The Other Guys, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Step Brothers. Ä€ Adam McKay does not single handedly write his movies. Like I said, he and Ferrell are in a partnership and co write movies together. Adams movies tend to be a mean or not appropriate for children. When did comedies start saying four letter words every other sentence. The times have changed that is for sure. I would be lying if I said I was shocked. I would also be lying if I said I had no taste, or judgment of comic strategy. Because, like I said I am very fond of these movies. Adam s films have a lot in common including his own partner. Will Ferrell plays the main character in most of McKay s films. In fact, he is the main character in all three of the films that I have chosen. So it may that I just like movies with Will Ferrell. Adam McKay has a tendency to starting off his movies with a quote, and of course he works with Will. In the movie Stepbrothers, an American buddy slapstick comedy which stars Will Ferrell and ... It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things . This quote could be taken into context numerous ways, one of them being social criticism. In the two books The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, social criticism is clearly an element that both authors reflected on greatly while writing these pieces of literature. Although both novels may be seen as completely different works, Twain and Fitzgerald use similar tools to effectively fulfill the purpose of criticizing American society. Through the use of symbolism, themes, figurative language, diction and character choice, the authors make it evident that these two novels are written to portray the hypocrisy of middle class America. ... • 20. Economic Inequality And Its Effects On Economic Growth The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer is an aphorism elicited from the topic of economic inequality. Over the past decades, economic inequality has been rising and at an increasing rate, expanding the gap between the rich and the poor. The direct relationship between inequality and poverty has shown that while inequality increases, so too does poverty. Increased inequality is harmful for economic growth and its effects also bear social implications. Although there are arguments on the consequences of wealth redistribution and its unintended impact on economic growth, wealth should be redistributed to reduce inequality and poverty, sequentially leading to more economic development and a higher standard of living for society. Economic inequality occurs in two forms: income inequality and wealth inequality. There remains a dispute between whether income inequality or wealth inequality should be the focus to reducing economic inequality. Considerable attention has been given to income disparities, however, it is important to realize that simply addressing income inequality will not adequately address the gross disparity between the poor and the ultra rich. For example, Bill Gates is estimated to earn around $7 billion per year (estimates vary wildly depending on how his income is calculated). However, even if this income was taxed at 100%, Gates would still have in excess of $70 billion in accumulated wealth. Gates could continue spending a million dollars per day, ... Those criminally insane are a subset of the prison population who have been deemed to have committed their crimes under the influence of a mental disease/disorder, or who were not in a condition of intellect during the time of the crime to comprehend the illegality or immorality of their offense (Frontline). It was a timely play challenging the then current stereotypical view of a black family by depicting a realistic portrayal of a specific black family with aspirations, hopes, dreams, dignity, and ambition as would be expected from all families regardless of race. The play is also timeless because it presents relevant themes of preserving family unity and breaking through racial stereotypes that still challenge current society. Robin Bernstein s critical analysis Inventing a Fishbowl: White Supremacy and the Critical Reception of Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun , cites a reviewer from the Philadelphia Inquirer who asserts that this play is both timely and timeless. We do not know if Miss Hansberry has written a timeless play ... but she has certainly written a timely one. (Bernstein 23), furthermore Bernstein cites George Murray noted in the Chicago American that the play couldn t be better timed for box office success. Its advent coincide with a rising wave of general interest in the Negro. (Bernstein 23). Bernstein also notes Before long, the votes swung overwhelmingly in the direction of dubbing A Raisin in the Sun timeless, that is, a masterpiece. (Bernstein 24). In its broadest sense, outsourcing is simply contracting out functions that had been done in house a longtime U.S. practice ( Globalization: Threat or Opportunity ). When a U.S. manufacture product, and buys material from an intermediate supplier from out of the country rather than producing them in house, that is what is called outsourcing.
