Peaceful Resistance
Resistance to laws positively impact a free society. The ability to resist and protest is a freedom in
itself, and gives the government feedback from the American citizens. Without peaceful resistance,
our government would not know what to change and people would get progressively more mad
every day.
Peaceful resistance gives the people the ability to stop laws and regulations that they oppose. If
this resistance was taken away, the government would pretty much have complete control over its
people. This goes against the Constitution and obviously would not be a good idea. People would
get very angry and bitter with the government, which is not a good idea in the slightest. Everyone
desires to be free, including people who are currently not. In countries where people are oppressed
and diminished, they surely desire to protest against their governments. When these people try to
protest, they are sometimes jailed or killed. This is not what a free society stands for, and surely

This is something that is evident in our society with the recent shootings of African Americans
by police officers. The people do not exactly trust our government or the law enforcement, due to
several occurrences because of these recent happenings. Peaceful protest allows individuals to
speak their mind when and where they want to. With Trump being elected just a couple days ago,
Americans are already taking advantage of this freedom by protesting around the country. People
are not fond of him, and therefore are resisting what they do not like. These protests are beneficial
to America due to the point that it is getting across to our government. Congress and the people are
baffled as how this could have happened, and are currently voicing their opinions. With these

Cane Creek Park Analysis
The beauty of not belonging and seclusion from Cane Creek Park create a feeling of wonder and
amazement, that makes a person long to go back time after time. The willow trees stand
gracefully, and elegantly as they dance around the park and convey positive vibes. There is a dock
that contains many mysteries and many unanswered questions. The swing that stands distant from
the rest is worn and waits for the next child to find it and to find comfort in it. There is also the
rippling water and the curiosities that behold the tree that has been there for ages. It s beauty is
conveyed by the piercing warm sun. This park creates a safe place for those whose mind may be

Santiago s Journey
How to Read Literature like a Professor, by Thomas C. Foster, is like painting a picture; with
painting the first step is to paint inside the lines, but an advanced artist understands that a picture is
made up of not just color, texture, and shapes, but also considers the purpose behind each stroke.
Foster brings a different meaning to reading a book and draws attention to the author and his or her
intention. While applying Fosters teaching s to Paulo Coelho s The Alchemist, the main character,
Santiago s journey becomes more than a journey it turns into a quest. Simple drinks and foods turn
symbolic into acts of communion and while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

foreign country where it is illegal, is an act of unity and also Whenever people eat or drink

Santiago and the Alchemist would not have shared their last meal together on the Oasis if they had
not wanted a peaceful environment before their journey to come.
At one point, weather becomes vital to Santiago s survival. Santiago and the Alchemist were
traveling through the desert to get to the pyramids when they came across tribesman. The tribesman
believe that Santiago and the Alchemist are spies. The Alchemist explains that he is A guide to his
friend (Coelho 139). The tribesman are still curious and proceed to ask about Santiago. The
Alchemist says Santiago is an Alchemist and he understands the forces of nature and wants to show
them his extraordinary powers (Coelho 139). The Alchemist continues explaining that If he wanted
to, he could destroy this camp just with the forces of the wind (Coelho 140). Santiago spends the
next three days trying to control the wind, on the third day the chief came to him wanting to see
him turn himself into the wind. Finally, when Santiago and the wind start to talk, Foster s point of

The Obstructions Of The Voting Rights Movement In The...
The United States was born with democratic ideals, and the will to have an impartial government.
But throughout the existence of this nation, there have been several stutters to the goal. Many of
the obstructions to the democratic ideals come in the form of voter suppression, discrimination,
amongst others, which, throughout American history have had a large impact in the way our
government works today. Yet, many believe that events that happened in the past can t repeat
themselves today, although that is far away from the truth. To start with the current problems that
government has had in expressing true democratic values, one must look no farther away than
North Carolina, a perfect example of gerrymandering. This year, the Supreme Court ruled that two
districts, district 1, and district 12, used an exceeding amount of racial bias, effectively violating the
votingrights act of 1965. The problem with gerrymandering is that it s used to skew elections, by
redrawing districts using racially, or partisan information, a party might set up elections so that the
ruling stays in power for an indefinite amount of time, thus stopping other groups to be represented
properly, such as minorities
A problem that compromises our democratic values is voter suppression, although several pieces of
legislation have tried to take down voter suppression, particularly Jim Crow discrimination that
reigned in the south until the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed. But, it s widely considered that

Same sex marriage is marriage between two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance,
Emperor Nero is reported to have engaged in a marriage ceremony with one of his male slaves.
Emperor Elagabalus married a Carian slave named Hierocles.
It should be noted, however, that conubium existed only between a civis Romanus and a civis
Romana (that is, between a male Roman citizen and a female Roman citizen), so that a so called
marriage between two Roman males (or with a slave) would have no legal standing in Roman law
(apart, presumably, from the arbitrary will of the emperor in the two aforementioned cases).
Furthermore, matrimonium is an institution involving a mother, mater.
The idea implicit in the word is that a man takes a woman in marriage, in matrimonium ducere, so
that he may have children by her. Still, the lack of legal validity notwithstanding, there is a
consensus among modern historians that same sex relationships existed in ancient Rome, but the
exact frequency and nature of same sex unions during that period is obscure.
In 342 AD Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans issued a law in the Theodosian Code
(C. Th. 9.7.3) prohibiting same sex marriage in Rome and ordering execution for those so married.
The first documented same sex marriage was between the two men Pedro DГaz and MuГ±o
Vandilaz, in the Galician municipality of Rairiz de Veiga in Spain, on April 16, 1061. They were

The Death Of The Road
The boy in The Road is similar to Jesus in his innocence. His father would weep over his son
because of the goodness the boy displayed which the world possessed no longer (McCarthy 129).
The boy had a natural affinity to the world, even though the world treated him so harshly. His
mother killed herself (McCarthy 58), his father was sick, and his childhood had been taken from
him. However, he still showed love to those around him. One example is a man who called himself
Ely on the road. Although the old man was crippled and obviously destined for death, the boy
wanted to give him food. The boy convinced his father to not only give the man some food but to
camp out with him for the night (McCarthy 165). The innocence the boy... Show more content on

Because of his boldness he had against the evil in the world, specifically a group of religious
leaders called the Pharisees, Jesus created enemies who wanted to kill him. Jesus became an
enemy of the Pharisees, and they were not going to rest until they found a way to kill him. They
schemed against him and captured him. After some legal dispute, the people decided to crucify
Jesus. He endured much suffering through his death. He was scourged, tortured, and nailed to a
cross, suffering an unfathomable amount of pain as a perfect man (HCSB, Luke. 23). After
being dead and buried in a tomb for three days, Jesus rose from the dead. His resurrection proved
he did indeed die for the sins of the world, and the world now had hope of salvation because of
his grace and sacrifice. The boy in The Road also becomes a victim of the cruel world that he
inhabits. He is an innocent boy who becomes an enemy of the evil world. The world is cold and
dark. However, as his father tells him, the boy is carrying the fire. The father sees the goodness
in the boy and encouraged the boy to keep carrying that fire (McCarthy 278). The man knows
that the world would try to extinguish the fire of morality the boy possessed. However, the man
also sees how fire prevails in the midst of coldness and the boy s morality would prevail in the
midst of evil, as long as that fire continues to be stoked by the kindness of the boy. The death of the
father proves the strength

How To Write An Organic Contaminant Essay
Organic Contaminants in Humans Unfortunately, we grew up with the inception that organic food
crops and other merchandises are pesticide free, making us believe that it is completely safe for us
to eat. This is not one hundred percent true. Organic Contaminants are the main sorcery behind this.
These Contaminants are carbon based chemicals; which include solvents and pesticides. They can
enter our main everyday sources such as: water runoff from cropland or waste from factories
entering our foods, eventually exposing humans to these contaminants. Organic Contaminants can
be broken down into plastics, lubricants, fuels, solvents, pesticides and preservatives. Overall, any
kind of contaminant can enter our body systems through several different ways. Firstly, these
contaminants can be found mostly everywhere in our environment such as soil, groundwater,
surface water plants, they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, if these contaminants can be measured as to how much of it approximately enters the
human body, it can potentially prevent certain diseases from developing. For example, most
people are known to have dioxins accumulated within the body as most people are exposed to
organically contaminated air, food crops, and meat or dairy products. The level in an individual s
body is identified as the dioxin body burden. Individuals who are carnivores may have higher
dioxin body burdens as the food within that category contain high levels of dioxins. Fortunately,
there are two main available tests that are used for measuring dioxins in human blood. The first
test is the Bioassay Test. This test provides an estimate for the total TEQ concentration in the body.
The second test is High resolution gas chromatography spectroscopy (HR GC/MS). This test
measures congeners within the body as well as the total TEQ concentration in the body. However,
this type of test is more costly than the Bioassay

The Drum Major Instinct And The Effect Of The Drum Major...
As a teenager I have seen the effects of the drum major instinct. When I started transition to the
adulthood I realized that I had I either had to swim or I would sink. I had to defend myself to be
someone in this world and succeed in a humble way not forgetting my roots. On 4 February 1968,
Martin Luther King, Jr, preached The Drum MajorInstinct from the pulpit of Ebenezer Baptist
Church. Ironically, two months before his assassination on April 4th, 1968, he told his
congregation what he would like to be said at his funeral, I d like for somebody to say that day that
Martin LutherKing, Jr., tried to give his life serving others ) (King, 135.) Excerpts were played at
King s nationally televised funeral service, held at Ebenezer on 9 April 1968. The drum major
instinct, according to King, is the desire for recognition, importance, and attention. In the sermon
The Drum Major Instinct, written by Martin Luther King clearly demonstrates that the drum major
instinct can easily be interpreted wrong and turn into a pernicious instinct. To begin with, the
sermon is given out in a church. The audiencewhere the people who attended the church, but he
also spoke in general. During the sermon he brings up a situation that says, Have you ever heard
people that you know, and I m sure you ve met them that really become sickening because they just

Christian Theology And Psychology Is Necessary
Living in a pluralistic world naturally lends its inhabitants to a culture plentiful of varying belief
systems in which integration becomes beneficial, as opposed to detrimental. Theology, or more
specifically Christianity, and the field of psychology are central ideologies that often call into
question the need for unification. The intermingling of the two for certain people is logical;
whereas, others view them as absolutely distinct with no benefit of integrating. Either standpoint
offers valid claims with both being worthy of examination.
The idea of whether or not integrating Christian theology with psychology is necessary is well
stated by David Cartwright (2010), a professor at Colorado Christian University, in that this
depends on one s perspective (Integration of..., Video 1). Certain Christian circles believe that not
only should these two areas be interrelated, but they also naturally are, as all things fall under God
s realm of creation. Yet, other believers stake their claim in a different camp with the mindset that
theology and psychology should never intersect, let alone meld into one another. On the opposite
end of the spectrum, this question is a moot point for one who adheres to an atheistic worldview.
Personally, my stance follows a Christ centered worldview, thus, aligning with author David
Entwistle s proposal of the allies approach. Truth originates with God, and either discipline affords

As the movie starts, it talks about two statistics that I found extremely interesting. The first
statistic that was put up on screen said one out of every twenty one black American males will
be murdered in their lifetime. The next statistic said that most will die at the hands of another
black man. At the beginning of the movie it starts off with a little young boy named Tre that
lived with his mother. After starting a fight in school, his mom had enough of his actions and Tre
voided his contract with him mom saying he wouldn t get into any more fights. His mom sent
Tre to live with his father in South Central. Upon arriving at his house he quickly learns the ropes
of his father s way of handling things. Tre was not there for five minutes and his father had him
raking up the leaves in the front yard. Later on that night his father fills him in on the other rules of
the house. This showed me that there was a good discipline in the house. That type of discipline
helped Tre out in the long run and changed his life for the better. The theory that I think really
explains this movie is the routine activities theory. This theory talks about three requirements, the
first being a suitable target, the second is absences of capable guardians, and the final being
motivated offenders. Growing up Tre lived in a neighborhood where suitable targets

Research Paper On Zigbee
ABSTRACT : Railways are the popular mode of Transport in almost all major cities of the
World. Railways are the most widely used and comfortable modes of transportation system. The
major cause for railway accidents is collision of trains on the same track. The main aim of this anti
collision system is to identify collision points and to report these error cases to main control room
nearer to the station as well as grid control station. Majority of accidents occurred due to improper
communication among the network between drivers and control room, due to wrong signaling,
worst atmospheric condition, immediate change of route . The train driver doesn t get proper
information in time leading to hazardous situations. So this system by using zigbee protocol
provides communication in between trains, which provide information or track id of one train to
another train to avoid collision.

Through a series of tests, focusing on keeping Gender the independent variable and testing it
against 8 different dependent variable. The results from the study suggest that females tend to
have more liberal opinions towards public policy than males. This is not to say that there is a
large relationship, in point of fact there is a small to an almost non existent relationship. Though
the hypothesis is not wrong, it is not a correct to say with 100% certainty that females will
always have more liberal opinions towards public policy than males. As seen in Tables 7 and 8,
both had small relationships and concluded that for defense sending, males tended to hold more
liberal opinions. And though small by only 5 points, it still exists. The reason for the evening of
opinions between males and females may attribute back to Welch s argument in her paper Are
Women More Liberal Than Men in the US Congress (Welch, 1985). Her conclusion was, though
there is a small relationship with females holding more liberal voting patterns, the gap seems to
be dwindling as years progress. This could be due to the fact that females are becoming a much
more prominent force in politics as opposed to the past. The amount of females with education
may be increasing as well as become more independent from males and able to stand their ground
and hold firm opinions. This paper reaffirms this belief

The Stonewall Riots Of 1969
This investigation assesses the New York City Stonewall Riots of 1969, concerning their
influence on the rise of the modern gay rights movement, specifically regarding political
emergence, social unity, and demographic shifts. The investigation will attempt to answer the
following question: To what extent were the Stonewall Riots of 1969 a catalyst for the LGBT
social movement in America? Two sources, Movements and Memory: The Making of the
Stonewall Myth by Elizabeth A. Armstrong and Suzanna M. Crage, and Stonewall: the Riots
That Sparked the Gay Revolution by David Carter, are used to form a proper analysis. Carter
effectively reflects on the monumental spirit of the riots, while Armstrong and Crage focused on
the lack of lasting significance of the riots, which directly refutes the beliefs of Carter. Stonewall:
the Riots That Sparked the Gay Revolution, was written by David Carter in New York, and
published in 2004. This book serves the purpose of identifying Stonewall as the starting point for
the modern gay revolution as a whole. It argues that the riots set a spark that ignited America in
favor of homosexual rights as well as political and social opportunity. This book is valuable because
it not only acknowledges the riots at Stonewall as important, but shows how they transformed
homosexual life and the movement entirely. Carter persuades readers to see New York as a venue
for revolution, and acknowledges the challenges faced throughout the beginning of the movement,

Infant Trauma
There are many types of trauma that people experience everyday in our world. People can do
awful things to each other, including violence, abuse, and neglect. Accidents happen that leave
us feeling distressed. Some threaten our sense of safety and connection. These are all
experiences that take time to heal and recover from. We must find a way to reconcile the life we
had before it happened and the life as we know it after a tragic event. The pain of the memories
alone can be devastating. It takes time and support to find a sense of self again, to feel safe in the
world again. But what if the trauma happened before life ever really began? Is there any lasting

The other form of memory is declarative memory (also known as explicit or late memory). It stores
sequential and contextual events, as well as factual knowledge that can be articulated (Paley
Alpert, 2003). Procedural memories are also described and indelible and are, therefore,
engraved in your brain and body for life. Other types of memories that are described in more
detail and are classified as non verbal are categorized as behavioral memory, somatic
somatosensory memory, and visual memory. Behavioral memories can be seen in play therapy
where the child will actually be able to act out their experiences with dolls. Somatic
somatosensory memory presentation is particularly relevant to traumatized newborns or very
young infants, who may perceive trauma predominantly as concrete sensory perceptions (Paley
Alpert, 2003). All of this research tells me that we need to broaden out ways of thinking of
memory. It is not simply a process in which, if you can tell me what happened, then you remember
it, if you can t, then you simply have no memory of the event. As we have discussed in class and
in Discussion Board, your body remembers. It makes sense that we can extend this concept to pre
memory infancy or childhood. To consider the impact these traumatic events can have on a person s
life, we must investigate how they can change development. Paley and Alpert

United States Department Of State
Introduction The United States Department of State classifies 58 different organizations as
foreign terrorist organizations (US DOS). Of those 58 FTOs only one is located in South
America, and none are located in Mexico. Despite the lack of official FTOs in Mexico, non state
violence is at an all time high and the country is more dangerous than ever. This is because of the
presence and prevalence of drug cartels throughout the country. These drug cartels employ violent
tactics as part of their drug trafficking network. But these cartels are more than just criminal
organizations. The scope of the violence, the fear they instill in the population, and the influence
they have on policy shows that these organizations should be considered as more than petty
criminals trying to make money. While economic gain remains one of the main goals of these
groups, there is much that falls under the umbrella of terrorism. Terrorism, while difficult to define,
still has a few key features that are mostly agreed upon. These features will be explored in depth
through a discussion of the definition. Following the definition of terrorism, the paper will examine
the cartels in Mexico. Their history, their goals, and their strategies will all be important for
determining whether they should fall under the umbrella of terrorism. Finally, this paper will argue
that the cartels in Mexico display the characteristics of terror and terrorist organizations and they

will also plan to bring a stress ball to work and class. When I feel the urge to bite my nails, I will
squeeze the stress ball instead. I will replace my nail biting habit with using the stress ball.
During the first week, I earned 5 dollars. I slipped up and started to bite my nails during one of my
classes. I didn t even realize I was doing it for about 5 minutes. I also slipped up another day while
doing homework. I was successful in bringing my stress ball with me to class and work, but did
not find myself using it too often. I think I need to make more of an effort to take it out when I am
at my desk or in class.
After 19 days, I have earned the $14 I need treat myself to a manicure. Although it took me longer
than I had hoped for, I am very proud of myself for completing my first goal. Now, I hope to
continue with the system and treat myself to another manicure in 2 weeks. Although I would not
consider this a complete success, I have certainly improved on biting my nails less than I did
before this exercise.

Political Poetry by Margaret Atwood Essay
Backdrop addresses cowboy by Margaret Atwood
Creating a masterful poetic movement through the American mythos, Atwood skewers manifest
destiny by embodying the voice of the Other, the discarded I am.
Writing political poetry that artfully confronts dominant ideology thus exposing the motivation and
effects of misrepresentation is a difficult challenge. The process can easily be derailed by
temptations to write strident, overly didactic verse that elevates sentiment above nuance and craft.
While passion is certainly important, it is the poem itself that transforms political intent into a
dynamic act of oppositional literature. To be effective as a statement, it must first be effective as a
poem. In Backdrop addresses cowboy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarded as a heroic figure by the myth of manifest destiny, he is conversely seen as a reckless
tyrant by those who suffer the effects of his violence. The first stanza reveals a comic figure
Starspangled cowboy sauntering through his child like fantasy while pulling a prop from the
Hollywood simulacrum that supports his myth. Atwood complicates this image in the second
stanza when she introduces violence to her almost /silly characterization of the mythical West.
Using a line break to accentuate the transition, she plays the impact of a stand alone line against the
expanded meaning of its grammatical context. Isolated, line six ( you are innocent as a bathtub )
relates directly to the opening stanza s child like caricature, forming an aphoristic trope that is both
interesting and oddly mundane. Accentuated by the break, the line s reading adds dramatic nuance
when its sentence unfolds into a broader meaning: you are innocent as a bathtub / filled with
bullets. Contrasting the ironic character of opposed readings (innocent and not at all innocent)
within the space of shared words, Atwood foreshadows an overall conceptual structure in which
backdrop refers both to the simulacrum of Hollywood sets and to the genuine environment of a
beleaguered world. Despite its obvious quantitative reference, bathtub / filled with bullets also
infers a Hollywood clichГ© the bullet riddled

Examples Of Being Oppressed Women
Since the beginning of time, women were oppressed, mistreated, and not equal to men. They had
great reasons to fight for the rights that they deserve, like the right to vote. But in today s world,
the women who call themselves feminist believe that they are still at the same level of being
oppressed as their ancestors were. As a result, women focus what they think they don t have in
society and forget about the problems most men face every day. Feminism, although a very good
practice, is abused in today s world by giving too much attention to women and not enough to men
when talking about equality.
As of now, 2016, men and women have equal rights, are treated the same in a legal matter, and
both have similar ways of being oppressed. It would make sense that there would be a group run
by both men and women to push for true equality, not one run by only women saying that their goal
is equality, but in the end, only recognize oppressed women. The prejudice movement run by
women with false, biased, and uneducated values affected how the young people in this world think
about men. Teenage girls don t go beyond the false accusation they would find on the internet about
how women are the only oppressed gender and as a result, join the feminist movement and continue
to bash men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that women didn t have but deserved only started to become part of law during the mid to late

Iraq Dishes
All around the world there are distinct cultures that have a variety of cuisines and techniques for
preparing them. This paper will discuss in depth two different dishes that come from different
regions and how its sustainability impacts its social cultural resilience. Baghdad, Iraq and Gaza,
Palestine both deal with political and environment factors that impact their dishes, but sustainability
in Gaza is less complex because its dish ingredients are not harm by governmental regulations and
its geography provides a vast range of arable land.
First, in The Gaza Kitchen by Laila El Haddad Maggie Schmitt, they both illustrate different
Gaza dishes that range from simple to elaborate. In this case, the focus is bread, it is not a meal but
it is used to eat dishes or can be simply eaten by itself. Khubz Kmaj is, the standard Palestinian

strategies work best for the student in a school environment. Once the child is aware of their
learning disability the special education teachers will help develop the child s social skills in a
regular and outside of classroom setting. A key component of learning how to develop social skills
is by practicing communication. The student should practice asking questions to teachers and peers.
Another great way to practice social skills if by role playing, this way the student can anticipate in
different situations what the outcome will be, and also raise their confidence.
Students who practice their communication skills can also get help in a program after or during
school called study skills. Students with learning disabilities can benefit from this program by
getting help in writing skills, test taking, proofreading strategies, time management, and life skills.
With these benefits of the study skills program children can also get help in using their

The cost of a Steinway Piano is somewhere between $45,000 and $110,000 (Griffin, 2012, p.29).
In order to get the best sound they buy the best materials. For example, they use Eastern Rock
Maple for their cases. Then to have someone manufacture and assemble their unique cases, the
company requires highly skilled and trained case workers to manufacture them. The name
Steinway Piano is brand recognition, they are known for their how well they manufacture their
pianos and their cases. That s one of the reasons why Steinway craftsman put so much care into
the construction of the piano cases: It s a major factor in the way the body of the instrument
resonates (Griffin, 2012, p. 30). Steinway cannot produce such a high quality piano without its
well working subsystems. If any inadequacies in Steinway s subsystems were to exist they would
not be able to produce quality pianos in a timely manner. The subsystem for the construction of
their cases involves materials, labor and assembly. The Steinway process also puts a premium
on skilled workers (Griffin, 2012, p.30) If there is a case maker out or on leave, finding a
replacement can be difficult because it can take as much as a year to train (Griffin, 2012). If there
is a delay in finding a qualified replacement then production suffers and the department falls behind
schedule and then they cannot produce as many pianos as planned in a certain amount of time.
There is no room for error with the Eastern Rock Maple wood they

change the world and help make cooking easier therefore he had made a company that would

Human Alienation and Computational Ecopoetics Essay
Computational Ecopoetics project is centred on human alienation from nature as an underlying
contemporary cultural framework and uses the capacity of the poetic bringing forth to restore us
to the earth and land as our home. Restoring us to the earth is the project of ecopoetics as
phenomenological rather than political frame that constitutes the most direct return to the place of

The technological fix to environmental problems leads to sustainability that frames earth as a
recyclable, renewable, and, ultimately, replaceable resource. Fixing the problem in the sense of
conserving, regenerating, and nourishing the resource base of capitalism. It is no longer an issue of
how to convince people to accept and promote sustainability, but of whether we can and how to
overcome the alienation and reification from nature that had emerged with capitalism,
industrialization, and urbanization? It is critical to consider whether we can ever approach Nature
in an non ideological way or are all attempts to capture Nature, theoretically, poetically or
narratively, nothing more than our own appropriation of it? technГ© (art/artifice) is opposed to
physis (nature), most fundamentally in terms of causality. The opposition between physis and

emphasis on equipment rather than physiology. The understanding of world as a network of
interdependent relations at a variety of levels, conceptualized in human terms, limits our ability to
comprehend natural earthliness. All that we will ever be able to say, or think or experience of
supposedly natural phenomena is necessarily situated within the world. (Heidegger) Heidegger

Essay about Sir Thomas More the Martyr
The definition of a martyr is a person who willingly suffers death rather than renounce his or her
religion. When Sir Thomas More died in July of 1535, he became a martyr. In the play A Man
for All Seasons, author Robert Bolt shows us his views on how More came to his death . In this
play, Thomas Cromwell, Richard Rich, King Henry VIII, and Sir Thomas Morehimself are
responsible for his death. Although it could be argued that many more people in Sir Thomas More
s life had a part in contributing to his death, these four characters had the greatest part in eventually
bringing him to his death. Some people may say that Cromwell and Rich were just pawns in the
King s plot, however they can t possibly argue that they weren t in control... Show more content on

Chancellor, King Henry began badgering him to help with the affair. Henry s behaviour became
more violent and intense towards More as he continually declines to comment on the divorce.
Despite the fact that King Henry promised again to More, There, you have my word I ll leave

wanted More s approval so badly that he comes up with two possible scenarios. He Wants either
Sir Thomas More to bless his marriage or Sir Thomas More destroyed (119). Lastly, Sir Thomas
More should by no means be considered an innocent bystander in his own death. He makes poor

Final Exam In the non fictional Tv series Making a Murderer, it shows how the criminal justice
system can have people wrongfully convicted, tampering with evidence, and unjustified

Argumentative Essay On Radiocarbon Dating
Radiocarbon dating is a scientific procedure used to calculate the age of dead specimens by the
rate of decay in their levels of C 14. Radiocarbon dating methods are deeply flawed and do not
reliably determine the age of certain fossils or the earth. This is due to the assumptions that they are
built upon. These assumptions include that the conditions on the earth have always been constant
and nothing has ever caused the C 14 levels to fluctuate. These assumptions must be true for
radiocarbon datingto be reliable. However, there is a plethora of evidence showing that these
assumptions cannot be trusted.
Radiocarbon dating is a heavily debated topic in the world today. This is primarily due to the
powerful implications it has on people s belief systems. Christians and atheists alike view
radiocarbon dating as important and need to be able to defend or support it. Findings through
the process of radiocarbon dating can help prove or disprove people s beliefs about the world.
Radiocarbon dating will always be a controversial method because of its impact on one s
worldview. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For radiocarbon dating to accurately date anything no matter its age, two facts must be accounted
for. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 and the amount of Carbon 14 in the creature at the time of its
death must be known. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 can be determined by its half life, which is
around 5,730 years. This means that every 5,730 years the amount of Carbon 14 in an organism
is cut in half. As a result, the amount of Carbon 14 would eventually dissipate to nothing in every
organism after its death. Because of this, radiocarbon dating has a limit to its accuracy. Many
times, scientists will claim that an organism was dated to be many millions of years old. However,
according to the half life of Carbon 14 and the limits that it possesses, this is

Anything short of as good as his or better will have you judged in the most embarrassing ways
ever. The Weeknd has one of the most unique and impossible to beat vocals in the industry. But
this is not a challenge to Trey, he steps up to it and he takes the challenge and he conquers. Every
bit of this song is as captivating as the original. Some will even be inclined to say that it s even
better. Personally I think they are both incredible and picking a favorite is impossible. Trey
Songz brings the exceptional factors about his vocals and he lets them take the lead on this one.
Where the pitch must be high, it is perfectly elevated, when it must be calm, he contains it and
everything is beautiful. There is a playful and teasing element whenever Trey sings about
making love and sex and you will feel it on Earned it (remix). Trey Songz sure knows how to get
his ladies worked up. He knows how to find a way to their hearts and to their other places. Earned
it (remix) I can predict has found and is still finding its way to a massive number of bedroom
playlists. Trey Songz has that

Consequences Of Losing The Amazon Rainforest
The Implications of Losing the Amazon Rainforest
(First Draft)
Marianne Sembrano
Section 4
Northern Marianas College
Word Count: 1,142
Imagine life without trees. Life without trees seems unfathomable. Trees provide us with paper,
timber, oxygen for us to breath, etc. Without trees, life on Earth may probably cease to exist. Trees,
specifically forests, make up for thirty percent of the Earth s land (National Geographic, 2017),
while water covers seventy percent (National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, 2017). Out of
that thirty percent, only a mere six percent is what tropical rainforests cover (Butler, 2008).
According to Butler (2008), tropical rainforests once covered over sixteen percent of the Earth, but
since then, the numbers began decreasing. Tropical rainforests, precisely the Amazon rainforest, are
decreasing at such alarming rates due to deforestation (Laurence, 1998). If the Amazon rainforest
were to be lost, the implications imposed are its effect on local matters such as wildlife, the
environment, and human life (Foley, Asner, Costa, Coe, DeFries, Gibbs,... Snyder, 2007). Although
these implications are dire consequences, some actions are being taken to prevent these measures
from happening.
More than twenty percent of the air we breathe comes from the Amazon rainforest (Butler, 2008).
The main driver for the destruction of the Amazon rainforest lies in the need for further developing
Brazil s commercial agriculture and one of the biggest

Christmas is awesome essay for Comm 34 by Anne Ginn
Since the beginning of time, people have loved holidays. that s why it s so important that we
honour our traditions at christmas. Christmas is a time for giving, sharing, and eating. Candy canes
are a big part of that tradition. And everyone likes Christmas because of these reasons.
The first tradition that I want to talk about is the Christmas tree. Every year, Iand my family go into
the bush to get a tree. We find one that looks good and chop it down and use the top. It is a lovely
tradition. The history of the Christmas tree is really vast and substantial. A look at the history of
the tree only shows how extensive this history actually is. According to History.com Christmas

An Essay On Cheer Research Paper
I have always believed that joining cheer was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Cheer
has always been a big part of my life; from practices to competitions I have always been kept
busy by it. I can always go to practice and forget about everything else going on in my life. My
coaches and teammates have always had my back and my best interest in mind. Cheer was a safe
haven where only my team and our success mattered. All was good for about four seasons; my
team and i had one most of our competitions and had three national titles under our belt. The next
season, which would be my last since i was in eighth grade, our old coaches had left and many of
the girls had moved onto high school. Now left with a new team, the new coaches had

Ella Fitzgerald s Accomplishments
Ella Fitzgerald was a successful person who never gave up, even when times were rough. Ella
had many accomplishments in her life time. During Ella s childhood, she encountered many ups
and downs. Her music wowed the audiences when she preformed. Ella s adult life was successful.
Her music made her very popular with all who heard her. God gave Ella a special talent, singing
and scatting , and she used it for entertaining people.
Ella Jane Fitzgerald was born on April 25, 1917 in Newport News, Virginia. Her parents were
William and Temperance (also known as Tempi) Fitzgerald. She had a hard childhood because
her parents separated just a month after her birth. She then went to live with her mom and
boyfriend, Joseph Da Silva. He lived in Yonkers, New York. After her mother s death in 1932
when Ella was fifteen years old, she went to live with her aunt. Ella s aunt sent her to reform
school. However, while in reform school, she started skipping school. Before long, she left
school and started living on the streets. She started dreaming of becoming an entertainer so she
entered an amateur contest at Harlem s Apollo Theater. Ella sang the Hoagy Carmichael tune
Judy and wowed the audience. She also sang another song called An Object of My Affection and
went on to win the contest s twenty five dollar first place prize! Ella had musical talent, but Ella

A Brief Note On The American Nurses Association

The American Nurses Association gives a comprehensive list of responsibilities that are to be
carried out by a registered nurse. It includes performance of physical examinations, taking health
histories, providing health promotion, counseling and education, administering medications, wound
care and numerous other personalized interventions, interpreting the patient information and
making critical decisions about needed actions, coordination of care in collaboration with a wide

The third step is planning and this involves the development of goals and outcomes whereby a plan
of care is designed to help assist the patient to achieve the goals by resolving the identified
diagnosis. Implementation involves translation of the plan to action. The final step which is the
evaluation involves the determination of the extent to which the outcomes have been achieved or
not.
According to NANDA International, Inc. (formerly the acronym to North American Nursing
Diagnosis Association) medical diagnosis deals with disease or medical conditions. However
nursing diagnosis deals with the human response to actual or potential health problems and life
processes. This has been elucidated with an example that points to the differences in how a doctor
and a nurse would approach the same health condition. The medical diagnosis of cerebrovascular
attack (stroke) would provide one with the information about the patient s pathology. When we look
at the complimentary nursing diagnoses such as impaired verbal communication, risk for falls,
interrupted family processes and powerlessness, they provide with a more holistic understanding of
the impact of that stroke on this particular patient and his family. Thus it also direct nursing
interventions to obtain patient specific outcomes (NANDA International n.d.).

A. Chekhov
The Cherry Orchard is Russian playwright Anton Chekhov s last play. It premiered at the Moscow
Art Theatre 17 January 1904 in a production directed by Constantin Stanislavski. Chekhov intended
this play as a comedy and it does contain some elements of farce; however, Stanislavski insisted on
directing the play as a tragedy. Since this initial production, directors have had to contend with the
dual nature of this play.
The play concerns an aristocratic Russian woman and her family as they return to the family s
estate (which includes a large and well known cherry orchard) just before it is auctioned to pay the
mortgage. While presented with options to save the estate, the family essentially does nothing and
the play ends with the estate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chekhov was apparently delighted with the very sound of the title, and enjoyed the same sense
of triumph months later when he finally revealed it to Stanislavski. By October 1903 the play
was finished and sent to the Moscow Art Theater. Three weeks later Chekhov arrived at rehearsals
in what would be a vain attempt to curb all the weepiness from the play which Stanislavski had
developed. The author apparently also snickered when, during rehearsals, the word orchard was
replaced with the more practical plantation , feeling he had perfectly and symbolically captured the
impracticality of an entire way of life.

Music AppreciationRadio Report
Instead of attending a concert and writing a concert report, I decided to do the radio report. On
April 24, 2007, I listened to the station WWOZ 90.7 FM from seven to eight p.m. It was hosted
by Jivin Jean and Neal. The theme of that session was the 50 s Rhythm and Blues. Because the
Jazz Fest is approaching, they decided to feature some of the artists that would be performing. In
which they varied from Percy Sledge to the Fister Sisters. The first song that they played was no
other than, Jazz Fest in New Orleans by the Fister Sisters. The lead vocalist of the group was
basically singing about the Jazz Fest. The lyrics of the song featured a lot of history about New

The next song was Golden Eagles Indian Red. It began with an Indian chant with other Indians
pledging in the background. They were saying how they were the Indians of the Nation. It had a
live feeling to it because you could hear the tambourines, Indian drums, and the Indians yelling
in the background. Charlie Miller s Piano Night 2003 featured only a piano and a saxophone. It was
very boring and off tempo to me. It didn t have a melody or much of a beat that you could follow. It
was just thrown together. Check Mr. Popeye by Eddie Bo was very outdoorsy to me. It had a live
music fest type mood to me. The man was singing about meeting up with Popeye and telling him
to check his spinach. The song didn t make much sense to me, but I enjoyed it. I liked Sea Cruise
by Johnny Rivers a lot. The man was singing/begging to take a girl on a sea cruise. It reminded
me of the movie Cry Baby a little, which is one of my favorites. I enjoyed doing the radio report,
but I d rather do a concert report. It was difficult trying to keep up with the names of the songs
when they would announce it. At a concert I would be given a program to follow. But my overall

One wants to see the cat and mouse game between Bass and Dempewolf. Lauralee is a clever,
seductive, and cunning woman. She s smarter than Dempewolf and, as stated, in the second act
she overshadows him. The dialogue is consistent with the culture, and moreover, the voices are
consistent for each character. However, the script relies on too much dialogue which slows the
pace. The tension is best in the first act, especially in the opening scene when Bass saves the
mother and daughter. Then when they try to trap Lauralee, the tension is felt. Certainly, when
Bass is captured, there s compelling tension. However, the tension can be stronger if there s
more of a ticking clock, more action, and less scenes that rely on dialogue. There are small
formatting errors. Only CAP the name when a character is first introduced. Clarify if Emiliano is
also Miliano. One wonders if Bass should meet Miliano in the first act for the pay off in the
climax. Remember to show and not explain or tell. In summary, there s no doubt that a story about
Bass Reeves should be told. CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING: Reconsider the first scene. Enhance
the pace. Rework the second act. Lauralee

Partisanship and Electoral Incentives
Tufte (1978) and Hibbs (1987) both argue that there are two principle political influences on
macroeconomic policy: partisanship and electoral incentives. However, they differ with regard to
the emphasis they place on each influence. While Tufte emphasizes the influence of electoral
incentives, Hibbs argues in favor of the influence of partisanship. Franzese s (2002) review of
electoral and partisan influences on macroeconomic outcomes suggests that there is more empirical
evidence supporting Hibbs assertion. However, he also suggests that there is considerable room for
an analysis of context conditional electoral and partisan cycles (Franzese, 2002, p. 369). Bearing
this in mind, I argue that incumbent politicians can switch between... Show more content on

are willing to absorb higher inflation in order to achieve this ideological goal. In contrast,
Republicans are more concerned with the level of inflation and are willing to trade higher

to Tufte s explanation, by virtue of their position as policymakers, incumbents have the ability to

policymakers are able to secure the support of their party and fulfill ideological mandates through
the manipulation of macroeconomic policy (Hibbs 1987). Policy Instruments. Policymakers under
Hibbs partisan explanation are willing to use both fiscal and monetary policy instruments in order to

pursuing a partisan approach could make use of additional fiscal policy instruments. For example,

Social Issues In Northanger Abbey, By Jane Austen
Northanger Abbey is a classic written by Jane Austen. The novel is celebrated as a literary
masterpiece that deals with the English social class system, along with the social rules and it
shows the results of choices made by the characters. The story follows Catherine Morland, a girl
who is heavily influenced by books, but is also very naГЇve to the outside world. Catherine lives in
the modest town of Fullerton, and her life there has been mostly very protected and sheltered from
lifestyles and habits of people outside of Fullerton. The Morlands are friends with another family
named the Allen s. They are wealthy members of society, and they extend an invitation to take
Catherine with them to Bath, which is a wealthy area for families that meet that clientele. Because
her life in Fullerton has been so sheltered and moderate, her experience in Bath is a whole new

society, and she was well learned on other people s personal lives. The idea of having a rich and

Rocket Boys Character Analysis
During the 1950s, the American family structure was strongly patriarchal in which the man of
the house went to work to provide for his family, his wife stayed at home to take care of the
house and kids, and the kids were expected to go to school and be very well disciplined and
respectable. Even in the coal towns of Central Appalachia this familyorientation was prevalent, as
such the children of the miners were set too standards that would carry this structure on for many
decades. When a child finds that they do not meet the expectations that are levied upon him/her
by their parents and the rest of the community their life is made difficult as they struggle to find
who they truly are and still try to live up to what others expect. This is exactly the case that
Homer Sonny Hickam Jr. finds himself in. Through his memoir, Rocket Boys, Homer Hickam
retells the story of his youth as a boy struggling through life trying to become who he wants to be
while his father tries to push him to be who he is expected to be.
In the small coal towns of West Virginia, the youth was expected to primarily do one of two
things. Which one you were expected of depended upon your gender, if you were male you were
expected to graduate high school, maybe, and then go into the mines to dig coal like your father
and his father before him. If you were female you were expected to graduate high school and then
marry a miner and raise his kids and care for his house just like your mother and her mother before
her. For Sonny though we know from the very first page that his parents had opposing ideas of
what was expected of him as he writes, I didn t know that my hometown was at war with itself
over its children and that my parents were locked in a kind of bloodless combat over how my
brother and I would live our lives (Hickam 1). Just a few pages later it is discovered that his mother
wanted Sonny to pursue something other than mining and exactly what boys of Coalwood were
expected to do; Almost all of the grown up boys I knew had either joined the military services or
gone to work in the mine. I had no idea what the future held in store for me. The only thing I knew
for sure was my mother did not see me going into the mine (Hickam

could never imagine. Written in the form of a series of letters to an anonymous recipient, Chbosky

Dear Friend... . He states at the start of the novel that I am writing to you because she said you
listen and understand...Please don t try to figure out who she is because then you might figure
out who I am, and I really don t want you to do that... (1.3) whilst Charlie does not give the reader
a clear explanation on who this anonymous person may be; the audience can make the
assumption that perhaps Charlie is writing these letters to help him understand his feelings.
Charlies raw and honest narration of the problems he encounters, and his dark thoughts
throughout his first year of high school allows the reader to empathise with Charlie. This
behaviour is often typical for high school aged students, as they tend to find it easier to
communicate with each other when it is not face to face. The emotions that Charlie feels are
also common for this age group, allowing the intended audience to relate to Charlie, and engage
with the narrative. Likewise, in The Catcher in the Rye first person perspective is used to allow
the reader to have direct access to the main protagonist: Holden s thoughts. Holden s honest
narration gives the reader a perspective into his world and the way he comprehends it. In Holden s
narration, Salinger uses a flashback of a momentous time of his life, when he spent three days and
nights by himself in New York City.

Kassis Ed.D.,R.N. Historical Development of Nursing Timeline Introduction The evolution of
nursing as a profession had showed through time that it is both an art and science. Before the 19th
century, the military and religious orders are the ones who perform the duties of how nurses work
today. As time went by, different events throughout history such as wars and epidemics had shaped
nursing to its present organization. Nowadays, nursing is pushing further towards the future in

Her ideas revolve in having the nurse and the client work on these needs for improving health
condition. In the nursing profession, assessment is very critical for the plan of care. The
success of our interventions would greatly depend on how substantial our assessment to our

care. Nursing Science continued to transform in the 70 s.Dorothea Orem was one of the most
prominent nursing personalities that thrived in improving the standards of nursing through self
care deficit theory in 1971. The main objective of care is the self and thus catering every needs
that revolve around it to perform self care. Orem s work had become so significant today that her
Assessment for Care Evaluation method is the standard for evaluating health conditions. In
1972,.Betty Neuman introduced her systems model that tackles holistic view of patients. One of
its main ideas is stress reduction in improving the wellness of the individual. As a nurse, we
recognize and consider the role of stress in the recovery of our clients. Neuman also introduced the

  • 3. Peaceful Resistance Resistance to laws positively impact a free society. The ability to resist and protest is a freedom in itself, and gives the government feedback from the American citizens. Without peaceful resistance, our government would not know what to change and people would get progressively more mad every day. Peaceful resistance gives the people the ability to stop laws and regulations that they oppose. If this resistance was taken away, the government would pretty much have complete control over its people. This goes against the Constitution and obviously would not be a good idea. People would get very angry and bitter with the government, which is not a good idea in the slightest. Everyone desires to be free, including people who are currently not. In countries where people are oppressed and diminished, they surely desire to protest against their governments. When these people try to protest, they are sometimes jailed or killed. This is not what a free society stands for, and surely not what America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people do not exactly trust our government or the law enforcement, due to several occurrences because of these recent happenings. Peaceful protest allows individuals to speak their mind when and where they want to. With Trump being elected just a couple days ago, Americans are already taking advantage of this freedom by protesting around the country. People are not fond of him, and therefore are resisting what they do not like. These protests are beneficial to America due to the point that it is getting across to our government. Applyiing How to Read Literature to the Alchemist Kiley Dempsey Ms. Jones Honors Tenth Grade Literature Composition 04 September 2012 Santiago s Journey How to Read Literature like a Professor, by Thomas C. Foster, is like painting a picture; with painting the first step is to paint inside the lines, but an advanced artist understands that a picture is made up of not just color, texture, and shapes, but also considers the purpose behind each stroke. Foster brings a different meaning to reading a book and draws attention to the author and his or her intention. While applying Fosters teaching s to Paulo Coelho s The Alchemist, the main character, Santiago s journey becomes more than a journey it turns into a quest. To Foster, Breaking bread is an act of sharing and peace (8) Santiago and the Alchemist would not have shared their last meal together on the Oasis if they had not wanted a peaceful environment before their journey to come. At one point, weather becomes vital to Santiago s survival. Santiago and the Alchemist were traveling through the desert to get to the pyramids when they came across tribesman. • 6. The Obstructions Of The Voting Rights Movement In The... The United States was born with democratic ideals, and the will to have an impartial government. But throughout the existence of this nation, there have been several stutters to the goal. Many of the obstructions to the democratic ideals come in the form of voter suppression, discrimination, amongst others, which, throughout American history have had a large impact in the way our government works today. Yet, many believe that events that happened in the past can t repeat themselves today, although that is far away from the truth. To start with the current problems that government has had in expressing true democratic values, one must look no farther away than North Carolina, a perfect example of gerrymandering. This year, the Supreme Court ruled that two districts, district 1, and district 12, used an exceeding amount of racial bias, effectively violating the votingrights act of 1965. The problem with gerrymandering is that it s used to skew elections, by redrawing districts using racially, or partisan information, a party might set up elections so that the ruling stays in power for an indefinite amount of time, thus stopping other groups to be represented properly, such as minorities A problem that compromises our democratic values is voter suppression, although several pieces of legislation have tried to take down voter suppression, particularly Jim Crow discrimination that reigned in the south until the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed. But, it s widely considered that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Same sex marriage is marriage between two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, Emperor Nero is reported to have engaged in a marriage ceremony with one of his male slaves. Emperor Elagabalus married a Carian slave named Hierocles. It should be noted, however, that conubium existed only between a civis Romanus and a civis Romana (that is, between a male Roman citizen and a female Roman citizen), so that a so called marriage between two Roman males (or with a slave) would have no legal standing in Roman law (apart, presumably, from the arbitrary will of the emperor in the two aforementioned cases). Furthermore, matrimonium is an institution involving a mother, mater. The idea implicit in the word is that a man takes a woman in marriage, in matrimonium ducere, so that he may have children by her. Still, the lack of legal validity notwithstanding, there is a consensus among modern historians that same sex relationships existed in ancient Rome, but the exact frequency and nature of same sex unions during that period is obscure. In 342 AD Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans issued a law in the Theodosian Code (C. Th. 9.7.3) prohibiting same sex marriage in Rome and ordering execution for those so married. The first documented same sex marriage was between the two men Pedro DГaz and MuГ±o Vandilaz, in the Galician municipality of Rairiz de Veiga in Spain, on April 16, 1061. They were ... • 9. The Death Of The Road The boy in The Road is similar to Jesus in his innocence. His father would weep over his son because of the goodness the boy displayed which the world possessed no longer (McCarthy 129). The boy had a natural affinity to the world, even though the world treated him so harshly. His mother killed herself (McCarthy 58), his father was sick, and his childhood had been taken from him. However, he still showed love to those around him. One example is a man who called himself Ely on the road. Although the old man was crippled and obviously destined for death, the boy wanted to give him food. The boy convinced his father to not only give the man some food but to camp out with him for the night (McCarthy 165). The innocence the boy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of his boldness he had against the evil in the world, specifically a group of religious leaders called the Pharisees, Jesus created enemies who wanted to kill him. Jesus became an enemy of the Pharisees, and they were not going to rest until they found a way to kill him. They schemed against him and captured him. After some legal dispute, the people decided to crucify Jesus. He endured much suffering through his death. He was scourged, tortured, and nailed to a cross, suffering an unfathomable amount of pain as a perfect man (HCSB, Luke. 23). After being dead and buried in a tomb for three days, Jesus rose from the dead. His resurrection proved he did indeed die for the sins of the world, and the world now had hope of salvation because of his grace and sacrifice. The boy in The Road also becomes a victim of the cruel world that he inhabits. He is an innocent boy who becomes an enemy of the evil world. The world is cold and dark. However, as his father tells him, the boy is carrying the fire. The father sees the goodness in the boy and encouraged the boy to keep carrying that fire (McCarthy 278). The man knows that the world would try to extinguish the fire of morality the boy possessed. However, the man also sees how fire prevails in the midst of coldness and the boy s morality would prevail in the midst of evil, as long as that fire continues to be stoked by the kindness of the boy. How To Write An Organic Contaminant Essay Organic Contaminants in Humans Unfortunately, we grew up with the inception that organic food crops and other merchandises are pesticide free, making us believe that it is completely safe for us to eat. This is not one hundred percent true. Organic Contaminants are the main sorcery behind this. These Contaminants are carbon based chemicals; which include solvents and pesticides. They can enter our main everyday sources such as: water runoff from cropland or waste from factories entering our foods, eventually exposing humans to these contaminants. Organic Contaminants can be broken down into plastics, lubricants, fuels, solvents, pesticides and preservatives. The level in an individual s body is identified as the dioxin body burden. Individuals who are carnivores may have higher dioxin body burdens as the food within that category contain high levels of dioxins. When I started transition to the adulthood I realized that I had I either had to swim or I would sink. I had to defend myself to be someone in this world and succeed in a humble way not forgetting my roots. On 4 February 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr, preached The Drum MajorInstinct from the pulpit of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Excerpts were played at King s nationally televised funeral service, held at Ebenezer on 9 April 1968. The drum major instinct, according to King, is the desire for recognition, importance, and attention. In the sermon The Drum Major Instinct, written by Martin Luther King clearly demonstrates that the drum major instinct can easily be interpreted wrong and turn into a pernicious instinct. To begin with, the sermon is given out in a church. The audiencewhere the people who attended the church, but he also spoke in general. Christian Theology And Psychology Is Necessary Living in a pluralistic world naturally lends its inhabitants to a culture plentiful of varying belief systems in which integration becomes beneficial, as opposed to detrimental. Theology, or more specifically Christianity, and the field of psychology are central ideologies that often call into question the need for unification. The intermingling of the two for certain people is logical; whereas, others view them as absolutely distinct with no benefit of integrating. Either standpoint offers valid claims with both being worthy of examination. The idea of whether or not integrating Christian theology with psychology is necessary is well stated by David Cartwright (2010), a professor at Colorado Christian University, in that this depends on one s perspective (Integration of..., Video 1). Certain Christian circles believe that not only should these two areas be interrelated, but they also naturally are, as all things fall under God s realm of creation. Yet, other believers stake their claim in a different camp with the mindset that theology and psychology should never intersect, let alone meld into one another. On the opposite end of the spectrum, this question is a moot point for one who adheres to an atheistic worldview. As the movie starts, it talks about two statistics that I found extremely interesting. The first statistic that was put up on screen said one out of every twenty one black American males will be murdered in their lifetime. The next statistic said that most will die at the hands of another black man. At the beginning of the movie it starts off with a little young boy named Tre that lived with his mother. After starting a fight in school, his mom had enough of his actions and Tre voided his contract with him mom saying he wouldn t get into any more fights. His mom sent Tre to live with his father in South Central. Upon arriving at his house he quickly learns the ropes of his father s way of handling things. Tre was not there for five minutes and his father had him raking up the leaves in the front yard. Later on that night his father fills him in on the other rules of the house. This showed me that there was a good discipline in the house. That type of discipline helped Tre out in the long run and changed his life for the better. The theory that I think really explains this movie is the routine activities theory. This theory talks about three requirements, the first being a suitable target, the second is absences of capable guardians, and the final being motivated offenders. • 16. Research Paper On Zigbee ABSTRACT : Railways are the popular mode of Transport in almost all major cities of the World. Railways are the most widely used and comfortable modes of transportation system. The major cause for railway accidents is collision of trains on the same track. The main aim of this anti collision system is to identify collision points and to report these error cases to main control room nearer to the station as well as grid control station. Majority of accidents occurred due to improper communication among the network between drivers and control room, due to wrong signaling, worst atmospheric condition, immediate change of route . The train driver doesn t get proper information in time leading to hazardous situations. This is not to say that there is a large relationship, in point of fact there is a small to an almost non existent relationship. Though the hypothesis is not wrong, it is not a correct to say with 100% certainty that females will always have more liberal opinions towards public policy than males. As seen in Tables 7 and 8, both had small relationships and concluded that for defense sending, males tended to hold more liberal opinions. And though small by only 5 points, it still exists. The reason for the evening of opinions between males and females may attribute back to Welch s argument in her paper Are Women More Liberal Than Men in the US Congress (Welch, 1985). Her conclusion was, though there is a small relationship with females holding more liberal voting patterns, the gap seems to be dwindling as years progress. This could be due to the fact that females are becoming a much more prominent force in politics as opposed to the past. The amount of females with education may be increasing as well as become more independent from males and able to stand their ground and hold firm opinions. This paper reaffirms this belief ... The Stonewall Riots Of 1969 This investigation assesses the New York City Stonewall Riots of 1969, concerning their influence on the rise of the modern gay rights movement, specifically regarding political emergence, social unity, and demographic shifts. The investigation will attempt to answer the following question: To what extent were the Stonewall Riots of 1969 a catalyst for the LGBT social movement in America? Two sources, Movements and Memory: The Making of the Stonewall Myth by Elizabeth A. Armstrong and Suzanna M. Crage, and Stonewall: the Riots That Sparked the Gay Revolution by David Carter, are used to form a proper analysis. Carter effectively reflects on the monumental spirit of the riots, while Armstrong and Crage focused on the lack of lasting significance of the riots, which directly refutes the beliefs of Carter. Stonewall: the Riots That Sparked the Gay Revolution, was written by David Carter in New York, and published in 2004. This book serves the purpose of identifying Stonewall as the starting point for the modern gay revolution as a whole. It argues that the riots set a spark that ignited America in favor of homosexual rights as well as political and social opportunity. Accidents happen that leave us feeling distressed. Some threaten our sense of safety and connection. These are all experiences that take time to heal and recover from. We must find a way to reconcile the life we had before it happened and the life as we know it after a tragic event. The pain of the memories alone can be devastating. The other form of memory is declarative memory (also known as explicit or late memory). It stores sequential and contextual events, as well as factual knowledge that can be articulated (Paley Alpert, 2003). Other types of memories that are described in more detail and are classified as non verbal are categorized as behavioral memory, somatic somatosensory memory, and visual memory. Behavioral memories can be seen in play therapy where the child will actually be able to act out their experiences with dolls. Somatic somatosensory memory presentation is particularly relevant to traumatized newborns or very young infants, who may perceive trauma predominantly as concrete sensory perceptions (Paley Alpert, 2003). All of this research tells me that we need to broaden out ways of thinking of memory. It is not simply a process in which, if you can tell me what happened, then you remember it, if you can t, then you simply have no memory of the event. Of those 58 FTOs only one is located in South America, and none are located in Mexico. Despite the lack of official FTOs in Mexico, non state violence is at an all time high and the country is more dangerous than ever. This is because of the presence and prevalence of drug cartels throughout the country. These drug cartels employ violent tactics as part of their drug trafficking network. But these cartels are more than just criminal organizations. The scope of the violence, the fear they instill in the population, and the influence they have on policy shows that these organizations should be considered as more than petty criminals trying to make money. While economic gain remains one of the main goals of these groups, there is much that falls under the umbrella of terrorism. Terrorism, while difficult to define, still has a few key features that are mostly agreed upon. These features will be explored in depth through a discussion of the definition. Following the definition of terrorism, the paper will examine the cartels in Mexico. Political Poetry by Margaret Atwood Essay Backdrop addresses cowboy by Margaret Atwood Creating a masterful poetic movement through the American mythos, Atwood skewers manifest destiny by embodying the voice of the Other, the discarded I am. Writing political poetry that artfully confronts dominant ideology thus exposing the motivation and effects of misrepresentation is a difficult challenge. The process can easily be derailed by temptations to write strident, overly didactic verse that elevates sentiment above nuance and craft. While passion is certainly important, it is the poem itself that transforms political intent into a dynamic act of oppositional literature. Regarded as a heroic figure by the myth of manifest destiny, he is conversely seen as a reckless tyrant by those who suffer the effects of his violence. The first stanza reveals a comic figure Starspangled cowboy sauntering through his child like fantasy while pulling a prop from the Hollywood simulacrum that supports his myth. Atwood complicates this image in the second stanza when she introduces violence to her almost /silly characterization of the mythical West. Using a line break to accentuate the transition, she plays the impact of a stand alone line against the expanded meaning of its grammatical context. Isolated, line six ( you are innocent as a bathtub ) relates directly to the opening stanza s child like caricature, forming an aphoristic trope that is both interesting and oddly mundane. Accentuated by the break, the line s reading adds dramatic nuance when its sentence unfolds into a broader meaning: you are innocent as a bathtub / filled with bullets. Contrasting the ironic character of opposed readings (innocent and not at all innocent) within the space of shared words, Atwood foreshadows an overall conceptual structure in which backdrop refers both to the simulacrum of Hollywood sets and to the genuine environment of a beleaguered world. They had great reasons to fight for the rights that they deserve, like the right to vote. But in today s world, the women who call themselves feminist believe that they are still at the same level of being oppressed as their ancestors were. As a result, women focus what they think they don t have in society and forget about the problems most men face every day. Feminism, although a very good practice, is abused in today s world by giving too much attention to women and not enough to men when talking about equality. As of now, 2016, men and women have equal rights, are treated the same in a legal matter, and both have similar ways of being oppressed. It would make sense that there would be a group run by both men and women to push for true equality, not one run by only women saying that their goal is equality, but in the end, only recognize oppressed women. The prejudice movement run by women with false, biased, and uneducated values affected how the young people in this world think about men. Just as in Hopkins, where the broker failed to exercise care by inspecting the property for defects that would have caused injury and foresaw that an invitee may get injured. (CITE HOPKINS). The court held the broker had a duty to warn of any such discoverable physical features or conditions upon inspection of the property that pose a hazard or danger to such visitors. (Hopkins ... Human Alienation and Computational Ecopoetics Essay Computational Ecopoetics project is centred on human alienation from nature as an underlying contemporary cultural framework and uses the capacity of the poetic bringing forth to restore us to the earth and land as our home. Restoring us to the earth is the project of ecopoetics as phenomenological rather than political frame that constitutes the most direct return to the place of dwelling. The question is in what respects a poetic computation may be a making (poiesis) of the dwelling place (eco Greek oikos, the home or place of dwelling). It is no longer an issue of how to convince people to accept and promote sustainability, but of whether we can and how to overcome the alienation and reification from nature that had emerged with capitalism, industrialization, and urbanization? It is critical to consider whether we can ever approach Nature in an non ideological way or are all attempts to capture Nature, theoretically, poetically or narratively, nothing more than our own appropriation of it? technГ© (art/artifice) is opposed to physis (nature), most fundamentally in terms of causality. The opposition between physis and technГ© has generated the traditional divisions we have in Western philosophyamong nature and culture. In Heidegger s text, Being and Time, the concept of being in the world places primary emphasis on equipment rather than physiology. The understanding of world as a network of interdependent relations at a variety of levels, conceptualized in human terms, limits our ability to comprehend natural earthliness. When Sir Thomas More died in July of 1535, he became a martyr. In the play A Man for All Seasons, author Robert Bolt shows us his views on how More came to his death . In this play, Thomas Cromwell, Richard Rich, King Henry VIII, and Sir Thomas Morehimself are responsible for his death. Although it could be argued that many more people in Sir Thomas More s life had a part in contributing to his death, these four characters had the greatest part in eventually bringing him to his death. Radiocarbon dating methods are deeply flawed and do not reliably determine the age of certain fossils or the earth. This is due to the assumptions that they are built upon. These assumptions include that the conditions on the earth have always been constant and nothing has ever caused the C 14 levels to fluctuate. These assumptions must be true for radiocarbon datingto be reliable. However, there is a plethora of evidence showing that these assumptions cannot be trusted. Radiocarbon dating is a heavily debated topic in the world today. This is primarily due to the powerful implications it has on people s belief systems. Christians and atheists alike view radiocarbon dating as important and need to be able to defend or support it. For radiocarbon dating to accurately date anything no matter its age, two facts must be accounted for. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 and the amount of Carbon 14 in the creature at the time of its death must be known. As a result, the amount of Carbon 14 would eventually dissipate to nothing in every organism after its death. Because of this, radiocarbon dating has a limit to its accuracy. Consequences Of Losing The Amazon Rainforest The Implications of Losing the Amazon Rainforest (First Draft) Marianne Sembrano Section 4 Northern Marianas College Word Count: 1,142 Imagine life without trees. Life without trees seems unfathomable. Trees provide us with paper, timber, oxygen for us to breath, etc. Without trees, life on Earth may probably cease to exist. Trees, specifically forests, make up for thirty percent of the Earth s land (National Geographic, 2017), while water covers seventy percent (National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, 2017). Out of that thirty percent, only a mere six percent is what tropical rainforests cover (Butler, 2008). According to Butler (2008), tropical rainforests once covered over sixteen percent of the Earth, but since then, the numbers began decreasing. Tropical rainforests, precisely the Amazon rainforest, are decreasing at such alarming rates due to deforestation (Laurence, 1998). If the Amazon rainforest were to be lost, the implications imposed are its effect on local matters such as wildlife, the environment, and human life (Foley, Asner, Costa, Coe, DeFries, Gibbs,... Snyder, 2007). Although these implications are dire consequences, some actions are being taken to prevent these measures from happening. • 51. Partisanship and Electoral Incentives Tufte (1978) and Hibbs (1987) both argue that there are two principle political influences on macroeconomic policy: partisanship and electoral incentives. However, they differ with regard to the emphasis they place on each influence. While Tufte emphasizes the influence of electoral incentives, Hibbs argues in favor of the influence of partisanship. Franzese s (2002) review of electoral and partisan influences on macroeconomic outcomes suggests that there is more empirical evidence supporting Hibbs assertion. However, he also suggests that there is considerable room for an analysis of context conditional electoral and partisan cycles (Franzese, 2002, p. 369). Bearing this in mind, I argue that incumbent politicians can switch between... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He finds that in general, Democrats seek a lower unemployment rate as well as higher output and are willing to absorb higher inflation in order to achieve this ideological goal. In contrast, Republicans are more concerned with the level of inflation and are willing to trade higher unemployment and lower output in order to accomplish this (Hibbs 1987). Opportunity. Similarly to Tufte s explanation, by virtue of their position as policymakers, incumbents have the ability to create and influence macroeconomic policy. With respect to Hibbs partisan explanation, policymakers are able to secure the support of their party and fulfill ideological mandates through the manipulation of macroeconomic policy (Hibbs 1987). Policy Instruments. Policymakers under Hibbs partisan explanation are willing to use both fiscal and monetary policy instruments in order to achieve their goals. While electorally oriented policymakers emphasize fast acting policy instruments in order to localize the effect on the economy around the election, policymakers pursuing a partisan approach could make use of additional fiscal policy instruments. For example, in order to reduce inflation, an economic contraction could be created through a combination of an increase in the interest rate by the Federal Reserve (fiscal policy) and a ... • 52. Social Issues In Northanger Abbey, By Jane Austen Northanger Abbey is a classic written by Jane Austen. The novel is celebrated as a literary masterpiece that deals with the English social class system, along with the social rules and it shows the results of choices made by the characters. The story follows Catherine Morland, a girl who is heavily influenced by books, but is also very naГЇve to the outside world. Catherine lives in the modest town of Fullerton, and her life there has been mostly very protected and sheltered from lifestyles and habits of people outside of Fullerton. The Morlands are friends with another family named the Allen s. They are wealthy members of society, and they extend an invitation to take Catherine with them to Bath, which is a wealthy area for families that meet that clientele. While in Bath, Catherine is introduced to a young man by the name of Henry Tilney, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The varying hierarchies between Catherine and Isabella and between Catherine and Henry are interesting for one to read through. The effects the social classes had on Isabella were arguably greater than any other major character in the story. She was attracted to the drama, gossip, and vigor of that lifestyle. Isabella thrived on knowing the important information about people in the society, and she was well learned on other people s personal lives. The idea of having a rich and popular and important husband caught her attention more than marrying for love did. She was engaged to James for love, but once a better offer came along in the form of Captain Frederick Tilney, she had a change of heart. Suddenly, she was content with leaving behind her fiancГ© of humble beginnings and earning for someone for susceptible to adventure, danger, and or course, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Rocket Boys Character Analysis During the 1950s, the American family structure was strongly patriarchal in which the man of the house went to work to provide for his family, his wife stayed at home to take care of the house and kids, and the kids were expected to go to school and be very well disciplined and respectable. Even in the coal towns of Central Appalachia this familyorientation was prevalent, as such the children of the miners were set too standards that would carry this structure on for many decades. When a child finds that they do not meet the expectations that are levied upon him/her by their parents and the rest of the community their life is made difficult as they struggle to find who they truly are and still try to live up to what others expect. This is exactly the case that Homer Sonny Hickam Jr. finds himself in. Through his memoir, Rocket Boys, Homer Hickam retells the story of his youth as a boy struggling through life trying to become who he wants to be while his father tries to push him to be who he is expected to be. In the small coal towns of West Virginia, the youth was expected to primarily do one of two things. Which one you were expected of depended upon your gender, if you were male you were expected to graduate high school, maybe, and then go into the mines to dig coal like your father and his father before him. If you were female you were expected to graduate high school and then marry a miner and raise his kids and care for his house just like your mother and her mother before her. For Sonny though we know from the very first page that his parents had opposing ideas of what was expected of him as he writes, I didn t know that my hometown was at war with itself over its children and that my parents were locked in a kind of bloodless combat over how my brother and I would live our lives (Hickam 1). Just a few pages later it is discovered that his mother wanted Sonny to pursue something other than mining and exactly what boys of Coalwood were expected to do; Almost all of the grown up boys I knew had either joined the military services or gone to work in the mine. I had no idea what the future held in store for me. The only thing I knew for sure was my mother did not see me going into the mine (Hickam ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Comparing Perks Of Being A Wallflower And The Catcher In... In both Steven Chbosky and J.D. Salinger s coming of age novels The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Catcher in the Rye both authors successfully explore the idea of entering adulthood as an outsider. The Perks of Being a Wallflower follows a fifteen year old boy, Charlie. Charlie has recently lost his best friend Michael to suicide and is struggling to come to terms with his death. He is in his freshman year of high school and struggles to fit in socially, until he meets a group of seniors who take him under their wing and introduce him to a world he could never imagine. Written in the form of a series of letters to an anonymous recipient, Chbosky allows the audience to have an in depth perception of Charlies mind and his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (1.3) whilst Charlie does not give the reader a clear explanation on who this anonymous person may be; the audience can make the assumption that perhaps Charlie is writing these letters to help him understand his feelings. Charlies raw and honest narration of the problems he encounters, and his dark thoughts throughout his first year of high school allows the reader to empathise with Charlie. This behaviour is often typical for high school aged students, as they tend to find it easier to communicate with each other when it is not face to face. The emotions that Charlie feels are also common for this age group, allowing the intended audience to relate to Charlie, and engage with the narrative. Likewise, in The Catcher in the Rye first person perspective is used to allow the reader to have direct access to the main protagonist: Holden s thoughts. Holden s honest narration gives the reader a perspective into his world and the way he comprehends it. In Holden s narration, Salinger uses a flashback of a momentous time of his life, when he spent three days and nights by himself in New York City. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1972,.Betty Neuman introduced her systems model that tackles holistic view of patients. One of its main ideas is stress reduction in improving the wellness of the individual.
