College Student Athletes
The ongoing debate of the idea whether or not college student athletes should get paid has been dated
back to the first intercollegiate competition. This occurred during a series of boat races between two
major Ivy League schools, Harvard and Yale University. Similar to today s world of entertainment,
one of the main objectives was to please a sponsor of the boat races. By doing this, Harvard used a
non student as a steersman of the boat to participate in the regatta (Parent, 2004).
College sports were becoming popular, but dangerous as well. Many fans enjoyed the violent sport of
college football as early as the late 1800 s, but over the course of a hundred years, at least 45 football
players died playing the sport. At the time of his presidency,

Victoria Chemicals Case Study Essay
Victoria Chemicals: Case study Introduction Victoria Chemicals is a major competitor in the
worldwide chemical industry. They are a leading producer of polypropylene, which is a polymer used
in products such as medical products and automobile components. Victoria Chemicals started up in
1967 when they built two plants, one in Merseyside, England and one in Rotterdam, Holland. Both
plants were identical to each other and produced an equal amount of goods. In 2008 these two plants
have an old fashioned production process of polypropylene and the production costs are some of the
highest in the industry. The plants need to be renovated and rationalized. Victoria Chemicals was also
under pressure from investors to improve their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When comparing the two different investment plans and the cash flows included, you can see that
there are differences between the Merseyside and Rotterdam projects. In Merseyside tax has been
included in the calculations but it is not included as a post, this could easily be added on a separate
post, as done for Rotterdam. In Merseyside a preliminary engineering cost of GBP0,5 million, which
had been spent over the preceding 9 months, has been included. This is a sunk cost, i.e. an
unrecoverable cost for which the firm is already liable . This is a cost already paid for and is not
incremental with respect to the current decision and should not be included in the investment plan.
Overhead expenses are associated with activities that are not directly attributed to a single business
activity but instead affect many different areas of the corporation. These costs are not incremental to
the project and should not be included. But additional overhead expenses caused by the decision to
take on the project must be included. Victoria Chemicals has a corporate policy manual and according
to the manual new projects should be able to sustain a reasonable proportion of corporate overhead
expenses. Thus, all new capital projects should reflect an annual pre tax charge amounting to 3.5 % of
the initial asset investment for the project. This cost has been included for Merseyside but not for
Rotterdam. Though, according to

A Teacher s Lack Of Professionalism
I interviewed several people from a range of positions. An assistant principal, a special education lead,
and several teachers. 1. A lack of services being provided to a dyslexic student due to overwhelming
amount of responsibilities given to the head of special education created a conflict among the head of
the program, the counselor, the administrator, and the parent. 2. Loss of trust and animosity among a
team based on one teacher s lack of professionalism. The team took turns making lesson plans,
locating resources, and creating rotating substitute plans. One of the teachers rarely had her portions of
the work done causing the other members of the team to scramble around getting a lesson together at
the last minute. This teacher also called in sick several times and waited until a few minutes before
school started to call one of the other s and ask them to provide a lesson for the substitute. This
conflict escalated to the Dean of Instruction. 3. Two teachers who were married and working on the
same campus and same department when one of them was suspended for inappropriate conduct with a
student created conflict within the department. 4. A math teacher followed the directions of the district
math coordinator to give a test that used unethical racial stereotypes in the word problems. 5. A
science teacher was hired to be team lead and to use his experience to coordinate the district science
fair. Once he had it all in place based on regional rules, it was taken over

The Danger of Deep Vein Thrombosis
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a type of cardiovascular disease. DVT is a blood clot that forms in the
large deep veins in the leg or pelvis area and grows toward the heart. Including the veins in the calf
and thighs, the femoral, popliteal, and iliofemoral vein are also the sites of DVT development. It is a
mainly common and dangerous condition (Kesieme et al., 2011). Some DVTs may cause no pain or
swelling, whereas others might be quite painful and result in a lot of swelling. Mortality is not high
with prompt diagnoses and treatment for most DVTs. However some can be a threat to your life,
especially the ones that develop in the deep veins as compared to the clots that develop in the visible
superficial veins. Clot which forms in the deep veins is more likely to break free and travel through
the veins, which is then called an embolus. When an embolus travels from the legs or pelvis area and
lodges into the lung artery, the condition is known as a pulmonary embolism or PE. This is a
potentially fatal condition if it is not treated immediately and can lead to death. As high as 50% of the
time a DVT can progress to pulmonary embolism. Collectively, DVT and PE are known as venous
thromboembolism (VTE). DVT and PE are highly preventable (Kesieme et al., 2011). Both DVT and
PE are a major public health problem worldwide. DVT affects approximately 0.1% of persons per
year. The overall average age and sex adjusted annual incidence of VTE is 117 per 100,000, with
higher rates among

Utilizing An ASRS System Essay example
Executive Summary CanGo is a small sized company that retails a variety of products and services,
ranging from books and videos to online gaming services. CanGo has had problems in the past with
market strategies and formal planning. Liz, the founder of CanGo, and management would like to
expand into the online gaming market. Our company, Quality Management Solutions, is writing a
business plan on how to assist them the planning process of implementing a storage and retrieval

The capacity of this new system has informed us to review the size of the ASRS and the location. In
addition to discussing and making decisions on the size of the ASRS, we were given the opportunity
to view areas of the installation, maintenance, and the start up cost of the ASRS. Although, the start up
costs may seem inflated when compared to the current system in use, but the benefit of such a system
as the new ASRS brings forth a better return in this investment for CanGo and will give them a
competitive advantage in the market of online gaming. In our comparison of data from the three
vendors that manufacturer quality products, the consultants have reached a consensus and we will be
forming a business relationship with Mega Stars Systems. Of course, our main specifications of this
ASRS system, such as start up cost, maintenance, space, capacity were granted and the vendor was
able to ascertain all our needs on this project. Here are the comparisons of the vendors that we chose

In 1958, BOAC introduced a first transatlantic transport service, using two airplanes named Comet
simultaneously flying between London and New York. In 1960 s, other different British transport
airlines started competing and having the same services as British Airways do. In 1970 s, BOAC and
British European Airways (BEA) joined forces to provide more route service to the customers. In
1974, BOAC and BEA merged to form British Airways. In February 1987, British Airways was

ASSESSMENT OF BREACH There were a number of factors that contributed to the breach, which
had they been addressed or had corresponding mitigation responses in place, would have reduced the
likelihood that the breach would have taken place, or at a minimum reduce the impact of the attack.
These items range from policy related issues, technology implementations, and security management
and maintenance. Although I believe a number of these areas were in the process of being addressed,
based on the information gathered regarding the details of the incident, it appears that it was still in
many areas insufficient and would not have prevented an incident even if there had been more time
available to perform the implementations. To start, there were significant issues regarding the OPM
and its solutions to deficiencies found during their regular audits. These issues show a lack of
Information Security management and maintenance. This is made clear in an article by ABC News
that at the time of the Senate hearings regarding the OPM breach, Only a few of the inspector general
s 29 recommendations for improvement have since been implemented ( OPM chief angry over hack,
2015). Proper management of security audit findings must be implemented by the OPM, and the
appropriate resources should be put in place to plan how to implement the recommendations as well as
implement and maintain. Accountability should be put in place for the OPM management and the

My Experience Of Attending Public School Education
I grew up in a diverse spectrum of economic affluence. Attending public school exposed me to a wide
range of economic lifestyles within my community. However, it wasn t until I was older that I began
to notice this. Due to my public school education, the friends that I had growing up came from various
backgrounds. My experience growing up with, learning with, and forming friendships with people
who have come from low income families and communities has given me the skills to effectively
teach low income communities. In high school, I was part of several organizations that revolved
around community service. Volunteering for organizations that benefit low income communities and

The Nearly Fatal Snow Caving Trip Essay
The Nearly Fatal Snow Caving Trip
Sharp pains shooting through muscles, trying to avoid sleep, hypothermia set in on an Antarctic ice
crevasse researcher. I had the opportunity to go snow caving with my brother, Josh. I was confident in
my winter backcountry skills and anticipated a memorable trip. I did not know what I was getting into.
Growing colder day by day, winter became more dominant. Deep snow made travel difficult. To
navigate through this terrain, I would have to wear special equipment. There are a few ways to travel
over snow: snowmobiles, cross country skis, and snowshoes. The uneven terrain and fresh powder
called for snowshoes. Along with shoes, winter camping requires many other types of gear.
To cope with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I recommended to my brother that he should put his snowshoes on before his pack. Climbing over the
hardened, plowed up wall of snow, we began our journey.
Beginning at a popular cross country ski trail, the traveling was enjoyably easy. Crunching the
hardened snow with each step and occasionally meandering off the trail and atop the soft snow, my
confidence towered. Distancing ourselves from the car, we passed many pine trees, whose branches
and needles would sway in the wind like bowing Chinese men. I sensed the wind whistling through
the trees, carrying the light, dry snow across my rosy, wind blown cheeks and burrowing between my
neck and shirt collar. In addition, the wind would create beautiful structures of snow, snowdrifts of
every size and shape. Remarkable curves and textures created a landscape like a foreign frozen world.
At this point, the ski trail dwindled to nothing, so we began to break our own trail. After several
demanding hours of trail breaking, we were sweating heavily. The once bone chilling wind had
become a blessing with our now unzipped parkas. We questioned the validity of traveling further.
We had passed many gigantic snowdrifts and possible campsites, but now tired and anxious we began
searching for the ultimate site for our snow cave. Finally, siding a cliff the snow looked deep with easy
access. The evergreen trees, with low lying branches created bowls around their bases. This area of

Spanking Young Children
About 60% of parents in the United States use spanking as a method to discipline their young
children. In most cases parents believe that spanking is the only effective way to discipline their
children. According to the International Encyclopedia of Marriage and Family , spanking is often
referred as; one or two flat handed swats on a child s wrist or buttocks, but would not include a
beating with a whip or a belt, for others, spanking also includes slaps and pinches to the leg, arm,
back, or even the head, as long as no marks are left . While some parents favor spanking children,
others are against spanking children because they feel that teaching them and giving them
consequences is the way method for a child to behave. I believe that ... Show more content on

With the increasing number of families that have two working parents in a family children would want
to seek attention from parents at any rate they can. If parents spank them when they misbehave,
misbehaving constantly can make them feel somehow connected with parents.
Sometimes spanking a child is necessary to bring attention to the child when they are constantly
misbehaving. Some parents believe spanking is a great way to discipline a child because they would
become more obedient. For instance, many parents use corporal punishment as a last resort, some
parents may reluctantly spank their children because they cannot think of what else to do to show the
child the seriousness of his or her misbehavior (encyclopedia, 2003) Parents use spanking a child as a
way to make children act the way they are supposed to act. Many children go wild, since they have
never received any real punishment from either parent other than just getting grounded for
misbehaving. Sometimes parents lose control of their children due to the lack of disciplinary skills.
When parents lack disciplinary skills the children tend to have control of all situations. For example, a
child may be throwing food in the kitchen when they dislike the meal the parent prepares. The parents
do not use any act of physical punishment towards the children but rather ground them when they
misbehave. The

Rappaccini Essay
Furthermore, the health and well being of children is of the upmost importance in the eyes of their
guardians. On the other hand, Beatrice s well being in her father s eyes had little to no meaning. Dr.
Giacomo Rappaccini was a physician/scientist who cultivates highly poisonous plants with the
intentions of finding medical cures from the poisons. On the days of testing and retrieving samples
from the plants, his daughter would tag along as well. With the plants being so dangerous, it was
important to wear the proper attire, but in Beatrice s case she had become immune to the poisons after
being exposed to them for so long without any protection. Rappaccini explained how the plants would

Beatrice so frequently. He became exposed and immune to the toxins of the garden and became

Infectious Bacterial Diarrhe Common Occurrence Among The...
MICROBIOLOGY2
Colitis
Introduction
Infectious bacterial diarrhea is a common occurrence among the elderly people, children, and the
immunocompromised individuals. One of the major reasons behind the infectious diarrhea is the
inflammation of the colon. Colitis is the inflammation of the colon resulting to symptoms such as
diarrhea, tenesmus, fever, and severe abdominal pain. The common pathologic organisms responsible
for the infection include Camphylobacter, Shigella, Salmonella, Escherichia, and the Yersinia species
(Papaconstantinou, Thomas, 2007). The initial infection of Camphylobacter, C, fetus, was discovered
and described in 1947 after several cases appeared and it was isolated from blood (Loss, Mangla,
Pereira, 1980). Later, the discovery of new identification techniques led to the isolation of other strains
of the species. Currently, the identification has developed, leading to isolation of bacteria such as
Camphylobacter and E. coli in culture techniques and other isolation techniques. Treatment of this
disease uses multidisciplinary approach of both antibiotics and supportive therapy.
Epidemiology
The epidemiology of the disease depends on the causative agent. E. coli virulence requires 10 to 100
organisms to cause a disease. An estimate of 70,000 people contract E. coli and approximately 60
deaths occur from this bacteria (Papaconstantinou, Thomas, 2007). The bacteria is transmitted via the
fecal oral route through consumption of contaminated food (66%)

Milton Gordon s Assimilation In America
Milton Gordon, Assimilation in America In Milton Gordon s, Assimilation in America , theorizes that
there is a 3 stage process of assimilation; acculturation (cultural assimilation), integration (structural
assimilation), intermarriage (marital assimilation). However, it is actually 7 stages, but for simplicity
will refer to as 3 stages. The overall process seems to follow the theory of Anglo conformity, in which
immigrants assume the desirability of maintaining English institutions, the English language, and
English oriented cultural patterns as dominant and standard in American life (265). Gordon provides
numerous examples from early immigration waves, specifically the first wave of immigration. Using
this wave of immigration as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Segmented assimilation combines multiple elements and because of this is able to provide a different
perspective. Zhou discusses how this theory recognized the fusion of immigrants in America but
acknowledges that the complete assimilation of becoming American is not always beneficial (999).
Giving the diverseness of America to retain what culture and values one was raised on can benefit the
migrant in various ways. Especially giving the many cultural organizations established to assist
immigrants. I enjoyed the article and agreed with a majority of it. Zhou understands the benefits and
consequences of maintaining and losing any cultural values you migrated with. Her perspective on
Gordon s theories were clarifying in some sense. However, I believe the assimilation process for
second generation is a difficult thing to narrow down. Zhou s theory that where an immigrant is placed
in system describes success and assimilation. This perspective is new and frighteningly eye opening.
Where you are placed in system would have dramatic effects on one s assimilation and ability to

The Pope And The Vatican
Rebellious and Pope are two words that generally do not go together, but that is not the case for Pope
Francis. The Roman Catholic Church s new Pope, Pope Francis, has come in to power with the

Vatican Change the Pope? is an article written by Robert Draper and published by national
geographic. The article explains the Popes origin and his progressive changes to the Vatican to revert
the Catholic Church to what it was meant to be, a church for the people. Dr. Fouberg s book Human
Geography: People, Place, and Culture dives into the Catholic Church, and the cultural and geographic
significance it has on the human population. Religion is a fragment of an extensive list of human
identities, it is part culture, part of a learned beliefs and values that held by individuals (Fouberg, 28).
Religion is culturally gripping prevailing priorities (Fouberg, 205). Christianity has the largest
diffusion for its cultural hearth of any of the major world religions (Fouberg, 209). Christianity
follows the same cultural hearth as Judaism until the New Testament where Jesus Christ is introduced
as the son of God (Fouberg, 217). Christianity split into two separate Christian sects in 1054 CE, one
of them being the Roman Catholic Church (Fouberg, 217). As Fouberg states in Human Geography
Catholic theology teaches infallibility of the pope in interpreting Jesus teachings and in formulating

E Commerce Security Threats And The Solutions Essay
During the early 1960 s, E Commerce businesses conducted electronic transactions via primitive
computer networks but the way these transactions were exchanged provided little to no
security(34).This made online transactions on WWW(World Wide Web), not reliable and unsecured
making consumers eager to not take the chance of risking their information, on an unprotected system.
During the early 1960 s came Electronic Data Interchange(EDI). EDI replaced traditional mailing and
faxing of documents with a digital transfer of data from one computer to another .(35)This was the
first step toward the E Commerce that is present today. Then the influential SSL protocol would come
to be which helped to improve the state of security on the WWW. This led to more protocols being
introduced, leading to other detrimental protocols such as (3D Secure, TLS, SET). These protocols,
that were just mentioned are still widely used today. This paper will go over the threats and the
solutions of E Commerce security. E Commerce security threats according to FindLaw UK, major
threats to E Commerce can be grouped into two categories, malicious and accidental threats .(34) The
first threat gone over will be malicious threats which include hackers attempting to penetrate a system
and steal sensitive data, burglars stealing a laptop that has sensitive data on it and impostors posing as
legitimate users and then copying website information .(34)Another major threat to E Commerce

SUNY New Paltz Reflection
Since coming to SUNY New Paltz this past fall, I have taken a rigorous course load and have fallen in
love with my major. I have met beneficial professors and friends that I will value throughout my life.
Most of all I have learned about who I am and how I see my future progressing. After attending SUNY
New Paltz, I have learned that this institution isn t inadequate; it is simply not the right fit for me.
Early on in my college experience, I had a strong feeling that this school was not the right match. This
sense that I had, led to an internal struggle. I did not want to be the student who came home after one
year. I believed the right thing to do was to make it through these unsatisfying four years. With this in

relationships when I transfer. However, as my transcripts will exemplify my grades only go up. After
struggling with obtaining good grades in the beginning of high school, I eventually took more classes

The Reflection Of Working In An Enterprise Environment
Throughout the semester, I worked at Central Community School District 301 in the information
technology department and worked on many different projects. This experience was very impactful
because it taught things that classes have a hard time doing or and not able to teach at all. Working in
an enterprise environment took all the information that I have gained from computer science classes
and focused them into one point. Which is, to be able to work on a team and to be able to create and
understand enterprise level software. Most of my time at CCUSD 301 included of me working on self
hosted internal education tools for teacher and student use, and creating and updating different
automation task that made some manual time consume task, very easy or non existence at all or
working on self hosted learning programs for teacher and student use. One of the first projects was for
me to make a program that took a picture from a camera renamed it to a normalized name convention
and then move it to the correct directory, so that a ID printing software could select the correct picture
to print it on the ID. When I first received this project I was thinking, this will be easy because it was
just like I did in CSCI 330, UNIX and Network Programming. The only problem was that it had to run
on a Windows server and not Linux. Python was already installed on the server for another task, so my
manager said that I could use it or any other scripting language that I felt most comfortable with. I
chose Python because I did not know many other languages at the time and because I just started
taking CSCI 490K which was a class about Python to solve different problems. After doing research
and getting assistant from other members of the team I was able to test and complete the program.
Throughout the semester, I came back to this script to refine it after learning new concepts in class to
make it more efficient and handle errors better. One of the next projects, also one of the largest was for
me to make a new script that interfaced with a Google for education administrator console API in
order to manage 8,000 Chromebooks. This was the first project that was given a firm dead line for
completion because there was around 4,000

A Rose For Emily Modernism
Throughout the short story A Rose for Emily , by William Faulkner, the new generation tries to
enforce modern standards on Miss Emily and her contemporaries. Despite their best efforts, the older
generation remains cemented in traditional values. The older generation faces a slow, tragic, rotting
death similar to Miss Emily s if they continue to adhere to tradition in a modern age.
Miss Emily is a contemporary of the older generation and her refusal to pay taxes demonstrates how
the adherence to tradition in the face of modern change leads to a slow death. The older generation
and by extension Miss Emily refuse to conform to modern standards because they are bound by
history and tradition. Social rank and and status heavily influence ... Show more content on

Her entire life has been based on southern tradition implemented by the old generation, all of her
decisions in life have been made in order to correctly conform to that tradition. If she conforms to
modern standards, she loses all of the power and respect that was entitled to her. So, she does not
conform, she gets rid of the new generation in order to keep herself sequested away from modern
change. She protects herself from them so she can continue to live in denial that any change is
necessary. For Miss Emily modern chage is unwanted and tradition is used to justify her denial. Miss
Emily allows southern tradition to fester within herself, She looked bloated, like a body long
submerged in motionless water, and of that pallied hue (220). She is barely living. Miss Emily no

rooted in southern tradition. She may have died of natural causes but it was not free of suffering. Miss
Emily was slowly dying because she sequested heself away from any modern changes like paying her

Journey Of The Hero Journey
The journey of the hero is about the courage to seek the depths; the image of creative rebirth; the
eternal cycle of change within us; the uncanny discovery that the seeker is the mystery which the
seeker seeks to know. The hero journey is a symbol that binds, in the original sense of the word, two
distant ideas, and the spiritual quest of the ancients with the modern search for identity always the one,
shape shifting yet marvelously constant story that we find. This journey will go with Duk thul/Dirty

him Duk thul/dirty skin because he would just sleep all day and he was dirty. No one knew that he was
doing at night when everyone fell asleep. The first stage of the cycle is The Orphan . Orphan may feel
like an orphan; alone, unloved, or confused. In Duk thul/Dirty Skin; there are 4 brothers who were the
sons of the village. One day, one of the brothers, for reasons no one knows, decided he wanted to be
different than his brothers. He could not be like them anymore . One day, this brother, dragging his
blanket behind him, went to the fire and lay down in the dirt next to the fire, covered himself up with
his blanket, and went to sleep; right in the middle of the day while everyone else was working. No one
understood, why he was doing what he did. This next phase has the orphan looking for the answers to
their big questions, but they don t know where the answers are at.

Apartheid In Master Harold. And The Boys By Athol Fugard
In the play Master Harold ..and the boys by Athol Fugard, Hally displays the attitude of most white
males in South Africa during the 1950 s. During this time, the national party gained power and they
established the apartheid system. Apartheid is a system of policies that enforced racial segregation
upon non white South africans. Early in the book, Fugard clearly shows the father and son relationship
between Sam and Hally, because Hally s real dad was not around. Hally s real father represents the
apartheid system and he believes that white people should use the power to control non white people.
Fugard shows how the apartheid system of white privilege and power along with Hally s
powerlessness with his father influence his actions in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hally feels powerless around his real father because he represents the oppression of the apartheid
system. Hally s biological father is an alcoholic, racist, controlling and power hungry white man,
which is why he was not in Hally s life. In fact, Hally s real father got so drunk at a bar that Sam ...
loaded him onto [his] back like a baby and carried him , while Hally was watching (58). This shows
that Hally s biological father is an unfit parent. Hally is ashamed and embarrassed of his father and he
feels powerless around him. Yet, Hally is afraid to tell his father the truth regarding how he feels about
him as well as his beliefs. Hally s father was not present in most of Hally s childhood because he is an
alcoholic, therefore they never had a strong relationship. In addition, Hally s father believes that white
people are superior and he is disrespectful toward non white South Africans. For instance, Hally tells
Sam that his father is always telling Hally to ...teach the boys to show [him] more respect . Hally is
scared to stand up to his father and instead of telling him how he truly feels about taking advantage of
his white privileges, he keeps quiet. In conclusion, Hally feels powerless when his real dad is in the
picture because he represents discrimination and the apartheid system. As the play progresses and
Hally realizes his father may be coming home, Hally starts to disrespect Sam and

Control and Treatment of Tuberculosis with DOTS Strategy
Introduction
Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the oldest diseases known to mankind, that despite the great achievements
of human society still remains a major health problem. Because due to the socioeconomic problems
and negligence in the treatment of tuberculosis, as well as HIV epidemy, in many countries there are a
large number of smear positive patients often remain undiagnosed. On the other hand, patients failure
to visit a physician after initiation of complaints, Lack of timely diagnosis and treatment by a
physician, inadequate treatment, improper administration of anti TB drugs, patients financial problems
in preparing medications, and patients inadequate information about their disease status and
discontinuation the medication can lead to the creation of drug resistant cases of TB. Since 1993,
World Health Organization has accepted the Directly Observed Treatment, Short course (DOTS) as a
global strategy for TB control. It is estimated that each year about 10 8 million people become
infected with TB and 3 2 million people die annually due to this disease. The World Health
Organization has declared tuberculosis a global emergency and has recommended efforts to control
the disease. Tuberculosis is considered as an endemic and common disease in east mediterranean
countries. Because of Iran proximity to Pakistan and Afghanistan (which are among most
contaminated regions in the world), our country is at serious risk of this disease. TB epidemiological

Theme Of Silence In Waiting For Godot
Postmodern literature depicts the degradation of human psyche and the struggle of the man to find his
identity after destruction that the World War II caused to the humanity. The war ruined the human
values and every human being had lost the sense of moral and immoral. Harold Pinter s The Dumb
Waiter and Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot belong to the postmodern literary category that
showcase in the most comic and tragic way the pessimistic vision of humanity struggling vainly to
find a purpose in their existence. Vladimir and Estragon, Ben and Gus are the hopeless and anxious
victims of the war who are controlled from unknown authorities. In this context, the ability to

They both know that if one is silent is because he hides something. And this is mostly when Gus
makes important questions about the nature of their job, or their next victim or about the identity of
Wilson and the organization. Ben withholds information from Gus, which is why he doesn t respond
to him. Gus wants to know who controls his life, who is the next victim, why he is imprisoned in a
dark room. His questions are of existential character and silence serves as an identity crisis. Ben s and
Wilson s silence alienates Gus from the truth. The most important silence in the play is at the end
though. The play ends with Ben raising the revolver to Gus s head while they stare at each other. This
is the silence of punishment where Gus is punished for questioning the authorities, punished for
asking too many questions and getting nearly to the truth. When the final silence fells over, both Gus
and Ben share emotions of anger, uncertainty, injustice and

Cerebrospinal Fluid Analysis Paper
ngiography is a test used to detect blockages of the arteries or veins. It is used to diagnose stroke and
to determine the location and size of a brain tumor, aneurysm, or vascular malformation. This test is
usually performed in a hospital outpatient setting and takes up to 3 hours, followed by a 6 to 8 hour
resting period. The patient, wearing a hospital or imaging gown, lies on a table that is wheeled into the
imaging area. While the patient is awake, a physician anesthetizes a small area of the leg near the
groin and then inserts a catheter into a major artery located there. The catheter is threaded through the
body and into an artery in the neck. Once the catheter is in place, the needle is removed and a guide

The Effects Of Global Finance Crisis On Brazil s Economy
The Effects of Global Finance Crisis 2008 2009 on Brazil s Economy
While researching written articles about the effects of global finance crisis 2008 2009 on Brazil s
economy, I found numerous financial researchers that had published documentations in reference to
the impact on the Brazil economy. In addition, the banks and government interactions to the global
finance crisis 2008 2009, particularly research papers, financial journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and
brochures. The Brazil government policies deal with a less openness, and its emerging economy
enabled the country finance regulators the ability to initiate moderate banking countering measures to
the crisis. These actions taken by the Brazilian government minimized the long term impacts of the
global finance crisis 2008 2009 compared to more developed nations. My goals in this paper, is to
explore the Brazil banking finance reactions, and government regulation policies that led to mitigating
the impact of the global financial crisis of 2008 2009.
To achieve this goal, I analyzed the Brazil banking sector response to the global financial crisis effect
due to the tightening of credit and higher exchange rate. Next, I researched the impacts on the
Brazilian economy affecting its imports and exports. Thirdly, impacts on the Brazil s currency, and
lastly a conclusion on the actions and impacts of the Brazil response to the financial crisis. I also
include an appendix after the Works Cited that contains images of the

Osama Bin Laden Incident Analysis
The message of Obama about the case of Osama Bin Laden reveals that the incident of Osama s death
which was avenge of US for 9/11 attack, brought the satisfaction, comfort and happiness in US nation.
But it was not the end of terrorism. This incident puts long lasting impacts and in future Al Qaida will
remain against US and can do attacks. So Obama s message showed that instead of death of Osama
Bin Laden, they must be vigilant in future. Obama s speech also showed proud that what US wants it
was done and achieved, so in future they also fight and never leave their enemy. He also thanked to all
members of team who made this plan successful and he mention the counter terrorism department of
Pakistan which helped them a lot to accomplish this attack. (Obama B., 2011). And the message of
Leon Panetta describe that this incident is a source of satisfaction and comfort for many
familiesespecially those were inflicted by the 9/11 attack. On the other hand he also have same views
about future that it was end of Osama not Al Qaida so they must remain vigilant in future to avoid
these attacks.(Panetta, 2011) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Untested Rape Boxs
Recent events revealed earlier this year have brought to light the massive backlog of untested rape
kits. An increased public awareness of this backlog and approved funding has moved the issue from
the back burner.
While the effort of processing the backlog of rape kits is noble and of great public interest it may leave
some questioning the benefits that this testing provides to the survivors of sexual assault and the
general public.
In 2014 an estimated 2,700 untested rape kits in Utah were being submitted for processing. Some kits
dating back to as early as 1999.
The discovery of the backlog pushed lawmakers to fund the testing of these forgotten kits. And in
2014 Lawmakers approved $750,000 to begin the processing of the kits. ... Show more content on

Of those 767 kits submitted to the lab 586 have been processed to date.
But, as reported by the Salt Lake Police Department, of the 586 processed kits 89 of the matches led to
63 possible investigations. Twelve of those 63 cases were submitted to the Salt Lake District Attorney
for further review and out of those, seven were denied. The remaining five cases led to three
perpetrators being incarcerated. The remaining two are thought to have fled the country.
The general public, as well as some survivors of sexual assault may feel as if testing the rape kits will
remove rapists from their communities and put them where they belong. However, with statistics
being so low it brings up the question of whether quicker return times on processed kits would aid in a
greater amount of charges being filed, or if testing all of the rape kits would even be beneficial?
According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse Incest National Network) the benefits of having a sexual assault
exam done increases the chances of a perpetrator being identified. DNA evidence can also hold up in
court better and is more likely to lead to charges being filed. And finally, the collected DNA evidence
is added to the FBI database CODIS (Combined DNA Index System). So if a perpetrator is not
convicted and they do reoffend, their DNA is on file making it easier to connect to future

Explain The Three Parts Of The Coping Brain
What are the three parts of the coping brain?
The three parts of the coping brain are thinking, emotional, and reptilian. The thinking part of the
coping brain, also known as neocortex, is the part that has the ability to use language and learn. The
thinking brain makes it possible for organize and planning. The thinking brain also decides the way
we behave. It is also in charge of our emotional experiences, which means it figures out why we are
hurt or sad. The emotional experiences are called feelings. The reptilian part of the coping brain is the
oldest part of the brain. It is shared by all reptiles and mammals including humans. Since it is the most
powerful and oldest part of our brain, without it, we would not be alive. The third part of the coping
brain is the emotional part. It is also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Loss is the most common fear that reptilian and emotional coping brains detect. The greatest sense of
emotional pain we experience is our fear and sadness after losing those who we have loved the most in
our life. From birth we are programmed to fear being abandoned and left alone to die. Rejection is
when the brain notices someone we want to be friends with rejects us. Rejection triggers both reptilian
and emotional coping responses. Rejection is one of the most common everyday reasons for becoming
upset. Betrayal is when the bond we have with someone we trust breaks. One other form of betrayal is
when someone promises us something and fails to keep that promise. Whenever a good relationship
gets ruined by betrayal it takes time to heal the wounds of the relationship. As far as people know
humans are the only ones that can be humiliated, animals can not be humiliated. To a human,
humiliation is deep because it messes with a human s self respect. Whenever you are in front of a big
group[ of people and they laugh at you, you sense an even greater

Drinking Milk Is Unhealthy Essay
Introduction Throughout our lives we have been told that milk is good for our body and helps to
toughen our bones. Drinking milk started when people domesticated animals for food, which
happened around 7500 years ago in the central Balkans and central Europe. By that time consuming
milk was not as common as it is today. It was only farmers in some specific regions that were using
cow s milk. Milk s market grew the mass production of meat in the 15th century. Afterwards in the
17th century, the idea of eating out and going to restaurants was born and fast food industries, started
using animal s meat for producing their meals. The rate of milk users grew with the rate of meat users
and milk s market got bigger and bigger every day. Mothers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The other thing that we should consider before using dairy products is from the ethical point of view.
Drinking cow s milk or consuming any dairy product is equal to torturing thousands of cows, due to
changing their nature and way of living in order to make them useable for ourselves. It has become
evident that milk is not the only source and product that we can reach vitamins, proteins and calcium
from, in fact there are many natural and healthy products that we can reach out those factors that we
are looking for it in milk, for instance fruits. Contrary to common belief, people should stop
consuming milk because it is unhealthy, unnatural and unethical. Drinking milk is Unhealthy Unlike
what we have been thought, milk is unhealthy and it will cause many different diseases in human s
body. Even though that they try to limit the bacteria in raw milk before and after milking, but they just
can lower the level of bacteria, they can t remove all of it, and by drinking milk we transfer diseases to
our body (Garedew et al, 2012, p 950). Before milking they will sterilize cow s breast and also they
will inject antibiotics to lower the level of bacteria in cow s body. They also use sterilize milking
equipment so the bacteria available on the equipment will not reach cow s breast and directly milk.
With all those sterilized processes they still need to do the pasteurization process because of

  • 2. College Student Athletes The ongoing debate of the idea whether or not college student athletes should get paid has been dated back to the first intercollegiate competition. This occurred during a series of boat races between two major Ivy League schools, Harvard and Yale University. Similar to today s world of entertainment, one of the main objectives was to please a sponsor of the boat races. By doing this, Harvard used a non student as a steersman of the boat to participate in the regatta (Parent, 2004). College sports were becoming popular, but dangerous as well. Many fans enjoyed the violent sport of college football as early as the late 1800 s, but over the course of a hundred years, at least 45 football players died playing the sport. • 3. Victoria Chemicals Case Study Essay Victoria Chemicals: Case study Introduction Victoria Chemicals is a major competitor in the worldwide chemical industry. They are a leading producer of polypropylene, which is a polymer used in products such as medical products and automobile components. Victoria Chemicals started up in 1967 when they built two plants, one in Merseyside, England and one in Rotterdam, Holland. Both plants were identical to each other and produced an equal amount of goods. In 2008 these two plants have an old fashioned production process of polypropylene and the production costs are some of the highest in the industry. The plants need to be renovated and rationalized. Victoria Chemicals was also under pressure from investors to improve their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When comparing the two different investment plans and the cash flows included, you can see that there are differences between the Merseyside and Rotterdam projects. In Merseyside tax has been included in the calculations but it is not included as a post, this could easily be added on a separate post, as done for Rotterdam. In Merseyside a preliminary engineering cost of GBP0,5 million, which had been spent over the preceding 9 months, has been included. This is a sunk cost, i.e. an unrecoverable cost for which the firm is already liable . This is a cost already paid for and is not incremental with respect to the current decision and should not be included in the investment plan. Overhead expenses are associated with activities that are not directly attributed to a single business activity but instead affect many different areas of the corporation. These costs are not incremental to the project and should not be included. But additional overhead expenses caused by the decision to take on the project must be included. Victoria Chemicals has a corporate policy manual and according to the manual new projects should be able to sustain a reasonable proportion of corporate overhead expenses. Thus, all new capital projects should reflect an annual pre tax charge amounting to 3.5 % of the initial asset investment for the project. This cost has been included for Merseyside but not for Rotterdam. Though, according to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Teacher s Lack Of Professionalism I interviewed several people from a range of positions. An assistant principal, a special education lead, and several teachers. 1. A lack of services being provided to a dyslexic student due to overwhelming amount of responsibilities given to the head of special education created a conflict among the head of the program, the counselor, the administrator, and the parent. 2. Loss of trust and animosity among a team based on one teacher s lack of professionalism. The team took turns making lesson plans, locating resources, and creating rotating substitute plans. One of the teachers rarely had her portions of the work done causing the other members of the team to scramble around getting a lesson together at the last minute. This teacher also called in sick several times and waited until a few minutes before school started to call one of the other s and ask them to provide a lesson for the substitute. This conflict escalated to the Dean of Instruction. 3. Two teachers who were married and working on the same campus and same department when one of them was suspended for inappropriate conduct with a student created conflict within the department. 4. A math teacher followed the directions of the district math coordinator to give a test that used unethical racial stereotypes in the word problems. 5. A science teacher was hired to be team lead and to use his experience to coordinate the district science fair. Once he had it all in place based on regional rules, it was taken over ... • 5. The Danger of Deep Vein Thrombosis Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a type of cardiovascular disease. DVT is a blood clot that forms in the large deep veins in the leg or pelvis area and grows toward the heart. Including the veins in the calf and thighs, the femoral, popliteal, and iliofemoral vein are also the sites of DVT development. It is a mainly common and dangerous condition (Kesieme et al., 2011). Some DVTs may cause no pain or swelling, whereas others might be quite painful and result in a lot of swelling. Mortality is not high with prompt diagnoses and treatment for most DVTs. However some can be a threat to your life, especially the ones that develop in the deep veins as compared to the clots that develop in the visible superficial veins. Clot which forms in the deep veins is more likely to break free and travel through the veins, which is then called an embolus. When an embolus travels from the legs or pelvis area and lodges into the lung artery, the condition is known as a pulmonary embolism or PE. This is a potentially fatal condition if it is not treated immediately and can lead to death. As high as 50% of the time a DVT can progress to pulmonary embolism. Collectively, DVT and PE are known as venous thromboembolism (VTE). DVT and PE are highly preventable (Kesieme et al., 2011). Both DVT and PE are a major public health problem worldwide. DVT affects approximately 0.1% of persons per year. The overall average age and sex adjusted annual incidence of VTE is 117 per 100,000, with higher rates among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CanGo has had problems in the past with market strategies and formal planning. Liz, the founder of CanGo, and management would like to expand into the online gaming market. In addition to discussing and making decisions on the size of the ASRS, we were given the opportunity to view areas of the installation, maintenance, and the start up cost of the ASRS. Although, the start up costs may seem inflated when compared to the current system in use, but the benefit of such a system as the new ASRS brings forth a better return in this investment for CanGo and will give them a competitive advantage in the market of online gaming. In our comparison of data from the three vendors that manufacturer quality products, the consultants have reached a consensus and we will be forming a business relationship with Mega Stars Systems. • 9. Information Security Management And Maintenance ASSESSMENT OF BREACH There were a number of factors that contributed to the breach, which had they been addressed or had corresponding mitigation responses in place, would have reduced the likelihood that the breach would have taken place, or at a minimum reduce the impact of the attack. These items range from policy related issues, technology implementations, and security management and maintenance. Although I believe a number of these areas were in the process of being addressed, based on the information gathered regarding the details of the incident, it appears that it was still in many areas insufficient and would not have prevented an incident even if there had been more time available to perform the implementations. To start, there were significant issues regarding the OPM and its solutions to deficiencies found during their regular audits. These issues show a lack of Information Security management and maintenance. This is made clear in an article by ABC News that at the time of the Senate hearings regarding the OPM breach, Only a few of the inspector general s 29 recommendations for improvement have since been implemented ( OPM chief angry over hack, 2015). Proper management of security audit findings must be implemented by the OPM, and the appropriate resources should be put in place to plan how to implement the recommendations as well as implement and maintain. The Nearly Fatal Snow Caving Trip Essay The Nearly Fatal Snow Caving Trip Sharp pains shooting through muscles, trying to avoid sleep, hypothermia set in on an Antarctic ice crevasse researcher. I had the opportunity to go snow caving with my brother, Josh. I was confident in my winter backcountry skills and anticipated a memorable trip. I did not know what I was getting into. Growing colder day by day, winter became more dominant. Deep snow made travel difficult. To navigate through this terrain, I would have to wear special equipment. There are a few ways to travel over snow: snowmobiles, cross country skis, and snowshoes. The uneven terrain and fresh powder called for snowshoes. Along with shoes, winter camping requires many other types of gear. To cope with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I recommended to my brother that he should put his snowshoes on before his pack. Climbing over the hardened, plowed up wall of snow, we began our journey. Beginning at a popular cross country ski trail, the traveling was enjoyably easy. Crunching the hardened snow with each step and occasionally meandering off the trail and atop the soft snow, my confidence towered. Distancing ourselves from the car, we passed many pine trees, whose branches and needles would sway in the wind like bowing Chinese men. I sensed the wind whistling through the trees, carrying the light, dry snow across my rosy, wind blown cheeks and burrowing between my neck and shirt collar. In addition, the wind would create beautiful structures of snow, snowdrifts of every size and shape. Remarkable curves and textures created a landscape like a foreign frozen world. At this point, the ski trail dwindled to nothing, so we began to break our own trail. After several demanding hours of trail breaking, we were sweating heavily. The once bone chilling wind had become a blessing with our now unzipped parkas. We questioned the validity of traveling further. We had passed many gigantic snowdrifts and possible campsites, but now tired and anxious we began searching for the ultimate site for our snow cave. Finally, siding a cliff the snow looked deep with easy access. The evergreen trees, with low lying branches created bowls around their bases. This area of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Spanking Young Children About 60% of parents in the United States use spanking as a method to discipline their young children. In most cases parents believe that spanking is the only effective way to discipline their children. According to the International Encyclopedia of Marriage and Family , spanking is often referred as; one or two flat handed swats on a child s wrist or buttocks, but would not include a beating with a whip or a belt, for others, spanking also includes slaps and pinches to the leg, arm, back, or even the head, as long as no marks are left . With the increasing number of families that have two working parents in a family children would want to seek attention from parents at any rate they can. If parents spank them when they misbehave, misbehaving constantly can make them feel somehow connected with parents. Sometimes spanking a child is necessary to bring attention to the child when they are constantly misbehaving. Some parents believe spanking is a great way to discipline a child because they would become more obedient. For instance, many parents use corporal punishment as a last resort, some parents may reluctantly spank their children because they cannot think of what else to do to show the child the seriousness of his or her misbehavior (encyclopedia, 2003) Parents use spanking a child as a way to make children act the way they are supposed to act. Many children go wild, since they have never received any real punishment from either parent other than just getting grounded for misbehaving. Sometimes parents lose control of their children due to the lack of disciplinary skills. When parents lack disciplinary skills the children tend to have control of all situations. For example, a child may be throwing food in the kitchen when they dislike the meal the parent prepares. The parents do not use any act of physical punishment towards the children but rather ground them when they misbehave. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand, Beatrice s well being in her father s eyes had little to no meaning. Dr. Giacomo Rappaccini was a physician/scientist who cultivates highly poisonous plants with the intentions of finding medical cures from the poisons. On the days of testing and retrieving samples from the plants, his daughter would tag along as well. • 14. Infectious Bacterial Diarrhe Common Occurrence Among The... MICROBIOLOGY2 Colitis Introduction Infectious bacterial diarrhea is a common occurrence among the elderly people, children, and the immunocompromised individuals. One of the major reasons behind the infectious diarrhea is the inflammation of the colon. Colitis is the inflammation of the colon resulting to symptoms such as diarrhea, tenesmus, fever, and severe abdominal pain. The common pathologic organisms responsible for the infection include Camphylobacter, Shigella, Salmonella, Escherichia, and the Yersinia species (Papaconstantinou, Thomas, 2007). The initial infection of Camphylobacter, C, fetus, was discovered and described in 1947 after several cases appeared and it was isolated from blood (Loss, Mangla, Pereira, 1980). Later, the discovery of new identification techniques led to the isolation of other strains of the species. Currently, the identification has developed, leading to isolation of bacteria such as Camphylobacter and E. coli in culture techniques and other isolation techniques. Treatment of this disease uses multidisciplinary approach of both antibiotics and supportive therapy. Epidemiology The epidemiology of the disease depends on the causative agent. E. coli virulence requires 10 to 100 organisms to cause a disease. An estimate of 70,000 people contract E. coli and approximately 60 deaths occur from this bacteria (Papaconstantinou, Thomas, 2007). When I first received this project I was thinking, this will be easy because it was just like I did in CSCI 330, UNIX and Network Programming. The only problem was that it had to run on a Windows server and not Linux. Python was already installed on the server for another task, so my manager said that I could use it or any other scripting language that I felt most comfortable with. I chose Python because I did not know many other languages at the time and because I just started taking CSCI 490K which was a class about Python to solve different problems. After doing research and getting assistant from other members of the team I was able to test and complete the program.
