Military Customs
Military Customs and Courtesies In the Army and throughout every branch there are certain customs
and courtesies that every soldier and military member must follow in order for there to be order and
discipline on a daily basis. Customs and courtesies are put in to place to show respect for Non
Commissioned Officers and for Officers of all rank. In this essay, I will be writing about the
importance of salutes, standing at the correct position when talking to someone higher ranking than
yourself, using proper language when talking to someone of a higher rank, where you should walk
when walking with someone of a higher rank, as well as other customs and courtesies you find
throughout the army and all other branches. A custom is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Salutes are not required when you are indoors unless you are reporting to an officer or when on guard
duty or when saluting is obviously inappropriate. It is important to show noncommissioned officers
respect as well. You do not salute them; you stand at parade rest when talking to them and address
them by their proper rank. The ranks you say when speaking to a noncommissioned officer are
Corporal, sergeant, master sergeant, first sergeant and sergeant major. When talking to an NCO, you
always finish your sentence with his or her rank. Here is an example: I do not know the answer but I
will find out and let you know Sergeant. It is simple and easy to remember for most soldiers, while
other soldiers need to remind themselves constantly to do this. Another military custom from ancient
times states that you should always sit or walk to the left of your superiors. This custom came about in
old English times and stems from very old English tradition. The right is known as the position of
honor. Most people are right handed and back in the time of knights, the majority of knights would
hold their sword in their right now and their shield in their left hand.

The Importance Of Technology On The Phone2action System
Once our competence was acknowledged we were brought in to also help with Jira tickets. Not yet on
the sprint team but our code would be directly affecting the Phone2Action platform. It was
intimidating to say the least. Since we were going to be programming on the platform we had to learn
to use a lot more applications and dependency managers like gulp, yarn, composer, and NPM to name
a few, using terminal commands to manage dependencies and keep them updated. Phone2Action had
many checks and balances when it came to platform code. The Engineers used Tower and Beanstalk
for source control and code reviews, later moving to git hub after our new CTO started. Once you

Whenever I was having a hard time with my ticket I would read some relevant source code and see
how the other Engineers made similar things work. It was not required that you marked what block of
code you worked on in a comment, but in some I found initials stating who wrote that block or file,
but for the most part once the code was merged in you had to guess who wrote what. I believe this is
the case because in one of my first sprint meetings I was told they do not point fingers when
something is not working properly, or if a bug comes up, they just fixed it. There were so many files,
some auto generated by the Laravel framework and many completely written by the company. They
were all organized perfectly in a system that was confusing from the outside looking in, but made
more sense than not once you figured out how the system worked. If a bit of code could be written in
its own file, then it should be. Everyone advocated for this design because it was more manageable
then scrolling through huge files to find a single function. I ran into files that were only a few lines
long and files that were thousands of lines. The campaign controller that handled most of the
campaign creation traffic was the biggest file they had according to Luke. It had about 9000 lines of
working code and every single line seemed like it had a purpose. I would eventually contribute to this
number. Phone2Action s platform was written primarily in PHP and JavaScript under the

Application Of A Desktop Study
Desktop Study
A desktop study, as its name implies, can be done entirely from a computer and is often the first step
in preliminary site investigations. The process of a desktop study involves correlating background
information about the site that will affect the design and construction; from a desk study a large
amount of relevant information can be gathered, such as: local context (i.e. what is near to the site, the
aesthetic of the surrounding buildings); archaeology (beneath the surface of a site there may be
unexploded bombs, remnants of old structures etc.); easements (the rights attached to neighbouring
lands, for example right to light); the likelihood of contaminated soil (which we know we do have on
our site); site ecology (the surrounding environment and how it coexists together). Having this
knowledge of the site before any work has begun allows for easier planning later as obstacles that
could have been a costly surprise later can be solved with much better efficiency.
The process of a desktop study could also involve looking at OS (ordnance survey) maps of the site
which can reveal the previous usage of the site as well as drainage and much more. Geological maps
can show what the ground conditions are like on site and if there is any risk of, for example,
subsidence occurring or if it already has. Service maps can be inspected to find hidden services, for
example telephone cables or drainage. The findings of previous surveys, if they exist, can also be

Queen Music Essay
Queen
Queen was a glam rock band that formed in 1971 in London. The band consisted of four men; Freddie
Mercury who sang lead vocals and played piano, Brian May who played lead guitar and sang, Roger
Taylor who was on drums, sang, and played guitar, and finally John Deacon who played bass guitar.
All four men also contributed and were songwriters. This British quartet developed into camp and
bombastic music which created a vast, mock operatic sound that consisted of layered guitar sounds
and overdubbed vocals.
Freddie Mercury was a flamboyant lead singer who brought a dramatic vocal style to the group. His
onstage antics were outrageous and brought a special personality and reputation to Queen. The

Paycheck Fairness Act Valuing the Employee The Paycheck Fairness Act can aid an organization in
laying the foundation to value employees equally and add a level of transparency without retaliation.
The vantage point of paying everyone equally, regardless of race, gender, religious and/or sexual
preference may seem as an obvious option as we are all created equal. The vantage point of paying a
person what they are worth, what type of experience they may bring to the table, or what value they

Now with new technology, such as satellites systems, low altitude photography and side looking radar,
scientists can now figure that the world is losing about 20.4 million hectares of tropical forests
annually and if these figures are not reduced, we will lose all of our tropical forests in about 50 years.
It has been suggested that the high deforestation rates are caused partly by the fact that the new
surveys are more accurate and thus reveal old deforestation rates that have not been detected with
older methods.
At first there was concern only among foresters about deforestation but now the public has created
organizations such as Green Peace to help increase awareness and reduce deforestation. The Food and
Agriculture Organization or
F.A.O, has worked mainly within the forest community to find new and better ways to manage the
forests. Also, in 1985 there was the introduction of the Tropical
Forestry Action Plan or T.F.A.P. This plan involved the F.A.O, United Nations development programs,
the World Bank, other development agencies, several tropical country governments, and several
government organizations. Together they developed a new strategy. More than 60 countries have
decided to prepare national forestry action plans to manage their forests.
Tropical deforestation has various direct causes: The permanent

My Dreams Of Attending Nursing School
Where I come from, there isn t much to say that people succed due to poverty. It is a real struggle and
absolutely abnormal thing to follow and pursue dreams. Attending nursing school, to me, has been a
dream that I have had for over ten years. Through the countinous support of my family, colleagues,
and teachers, I have finally reached my dream of being admitted for nursing school. It was a long and
tough journey, but I am here! I am so excited, as well as my family, because they have seen my
struggles. Fighting against poverty while raising a family of four on a single income and attending
college is a daily struggle, but I am slowly getting to be where I want to be through job security as a
nurse. In the meantime, it is a constant battle. All the while, we must also endure life s hurdles that
have been thrown at us and worry about my youngest son who is four years old and has battled
Neuroblastoma stage 4 cancer. Even though my son s cancer is stable, we must still make regular trips
to Dallas as all his doctors are there. Although my son is a very energetic, one of a kind, very special
kid, his illness has been a financial burden on us. We are constantly having to make sure we have our
vehicle maintenanced because these trips take a toll on it. My husband is the only one who works now,
so any extra expenses that will be needed for school will require me to get a loan. This is why I need

Effectiveness Of Successful Resilience Programs For Nurses
Shortcomings in the Literature
Although CF and resilience are relatively new areas of research, there are several studies that cite their
importance and benefit to combatting illness, nursing and patient quality of life, and retention rates. As
mentioned previously, CF adversely affects both nursing retention rates, as well as patient outcomes.
Hart, Brannan, and Chesnay felt a majority of factors in patient dissatisfaction were the same factors
that increased stress in nurses; thus, patient and nurse quality of life are inseparably tied together.
Preliminary studies show that resilience strengthening classes for nurses significantly alleviates CF
rates. However, no studies to date try to link these classes for nurses with patient outcomes. Patients
who have more resilience have better outcomes, especially long term and with regard to their families.
Research should be done to examine whether successful resilience programs for nurses also affect
both patient outcomes and patient resilience levels. If these are significantly benefited by resilience
programs, then resilience programs for nurses will have a greater reputation among healthcare
organizations. If both nursing and patient outcomes are benefited, the cost effectiveness and necessity
of these programs will be realized, as well as advancement in healthcare efficacy.

wealth distribution, a social injustice
Is Wealth Distribution Today Just?
In current times we often observe that many members of our society receive less than other members
regardless of whether they are no less deserving. In contrast, there are some who have ownership over
assets and earn income that they may not be deserving of. The distributive balance is upset and wealth
distribution today can thus be seen as a social injustice. This injustice that is becoming more
noticeable as people start to become aware of the facts, as we can see through the start of the occupy
wall street movements that, first started on wall street in America, have spread to other countries (one
of which being Australia). As a consequence of how wealth is habitually distributed and the way in ...

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the wealthiest 20% account for 62% of total
household net worth, with an average net worth of $2.2 million per household while the poorest 20%
of households account for only 1% of total household net worth, with an average net worth of $31,829
per household. This can be at least partly attributed to a decrease in tax rate increments. The statistics
draw on the selected income distribution indicators, which specify disposable household income
(money that can be kept and spent for recreational purposes), show that those individuals in the high
income bracket receive 40% of their total income while those in the low income bracket only receive
10%. Consequently, the net worth across households becomes even less matched as the rich not only
have a considerably higher income, but are also able to save up much more. The discrepancies
between the net worth in households are therefore exponentially larger than the discrepancies that
exist in income, which reflects the previously mentioned pattern of people accumulating wealth
through their working lives. The indignant attitudes posited by the movement can therefore be seen as
justified. However, thought it may be justified, the movement seems to lack a focused goal they
demand that some change is needed so that the situation regarding inequality can be rectified, but their
demands fail to offer articulated strategy as to how this can be

Chin The Qing Dynasty
The Qing Dynasty had many challenges when ruling a majority Chinese based population. Although,
initially the Manchus had control of the army and they also followed along with the Chinese s
bureaucracy whereas their Mongol counterparts earlier did not. The Manchu s decision to continue the
Chinese bureaucracy was an important one as it allowed for them to be much more accepted by the
Chinese population. The opium trade had severe effects in allowing the Manchu military to deal with
the rebellions. However, in the 19th century, the ability not to meet modernization standards

However, they had previous knowledge of other alien conquest dynasties to improve upon. For
example, the Manchu decided to have a full monopoly on the army by creating banner forces in all of
the major cities (Green). By doing this, they would have basically a military presence in every of the
major cities to help control the population. One exception of this policy was the Green Standard forces
but they were used mostly as a police force (Green). However, by the 19th century, this all started to
fall apart from the opium trade and the great rebellions. The opium trade severely affected the Banner
forces combat effectiveness and ability to fight the rebellions through addiction (Green). The great
rebellions of the middle of the 19th century proved that the Manchu s control over the population was
weakening greatly; and because of this, the Manchu had to provide sweeping military reforms to allow
Han Chinese a portion of the Manchu military monopoly (Green). The opium trade really affected the
allowance of the Manchu military monopoly and essentially, helped give the Han Chinese the ability
to raise an army and keep that army. Another challenge was the inability to properly modernize or

Theoretical Paradigms Of Structural Family Systems Theory
The major theoretical paradigm that informs structural family therapy is based on systems theory. The
word system is rooted in Latin and Greek words that mean to place together so a system can be
thought of as an entity made out of other entities that are placed together (Rosenblatt, 1994, pg. 49). In
systems theory there are many elements, assumptions, definitions to address the different dynamics
within a system. According to Rosenblatt (1994) systems theory provides insight into how systems
(families) are formed and highlights the patterns that surface within the system. Systems theory places
emphasis on the entire system (entire family), rather than focusing on the different parts (individuals)
of the system (Rosenblatt, 1994). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Vetere (2001) structure is defined by any given point in time where families organize
themselves based on overt/covert rules that impact the behaviors and choices of the family. Systems
theory discusses the different levels in a system and how one level influences another and so this same
assumptions can be observed in structural model (Rosenblatt, 1994). In structural model the family is
looked at as being embedded within wider social systems which serve as transactional patterns
(Navarre, 1998). Each family member can be characterized in more than one subsystem for a
permanent or short period of time. The roles of each member will be defined based on the subsystem
they are in. Family members are categorized by different subsystems, which can consist of parental,
couple, parent child, grandparent, male/female, power, hobby and interest (Minuchin, 1974). Hence,
based on the relationship of a subsystem families can form coalitions, enmeshment and
disengagement. According to Minuchin (1974) problems that children face are frequently due to the
boundaries between them and the parental

Puritans In John Winthrop s A Model Of Christian Charity
John Winthrop and the Puritans dared to make the dangerous journey across the Atlantic Ocean for
their religious beliefs. The journey was expected to be difficult and the new land was expected to be
unlike anything they had ever seen before. They were looking to become just the third group of people
to successfully make the trek to the new world. While on the ship destined for what is now known as
America, John Winthrop pulled all the Puritans together and delivered to them a speech bestowed
upon him from God. Winthrop s speech was later recorded and renamed A Model of Christian Charity
. Winthrop uses this sermon to motivate the Puritans as they head for the new world. Winthrop

With the time that the Puritans would have in the new world, this was beautiful music to the Puritans
ears. Lastly, the Puritans lack of possessions would allow them to depend on one another much more
in the bonds of brotherly affection (Winthrop 148). Since the Puritans would have no possessions to
spend time on, they had more time to spend with one another, and thus depend on one another.
Through spending time with one another, the Puritans would build bonds and friendships that are
much better than any material possessions they could own. Through these points, Winthrop
encourages the Puritans to not become weary about their lack of wealth, but instead see their poor
souls as opportunities for God to work in their life. Winthrop was aware that as the Puritans headed to
the new world, they would have to be completely reliant on one another. Winthrop encourages the
Puritans to love their neighbors as themselves. Winthrop motivates the Puritans to love their enemies
and those who do them wrong. Through the words of Jesus, Winthrop encourages the Puritans to act in
the way of the golden rule (149). Winthrop calls the Puritans to go out of their way when others are in
distress or hurting no matter their social standing or friendship. The Puritans must be utterly reliant on
one another in this new world, and the only way for this to happen is by truly loving their

Justice Is Not Rigid And Unchanging Like So Many People
Justice is not rigid and unchanging like so many want to believe. For the Ancient Greeks in the 8th
century, blood justice is the only way to settle disputes. By the mid 400s BCE, there are glimpses of
what will later become a trial by jury in a democratic judicial system. Aeschylus plays show a distinct
shift from blood justice to a more democratic system. Even Homer, when writing his epic works,
seems to hint at a better way to resolve conflict than the eye for an eye mentality. The Iliad acts as
book ends to the transformation of blood justice to a trial by jury as presented by The Oresteia; and
that transformation positively influences how Western culture deals with justice. Blood justice to the
Ancient Greeks is their way of enacting retribution on parties that did them wrong. The punishment
required by blood justice must fit the crime committed, Act for act, wound for wound life for a life;
and that leads to many turning to their rage as a tool to help them justify their actions (Agamemnon
1555). The Iliad opens with Rage Goddess, sing the rage of Peleus son Achilles (Iliad i.1). It is
Achilles rage that is called upon and drives his actions through the entire work. Achilles rage is to
right a great wrong done to him, but it comes at a deadly cost. Patroclus begs to be sent into battle to
help the Greeks fight. He wants to bring some light of victory to the Argives by donning Achilles
armor to boost morale and drive back the Trojans (Iliad xvi.43 49).

America And I Anzia Yezierska Summary
A desired goal or purpose that you have wanted very much to do, to be, or to have for a long time
defines the word dream. But what does the American Dream mean to you? Franklin D. Roosevelt,
Walt Whitman, Langston Hughes, and President Barack Obama are just a handful of people who have
written pieces of literature of which either defend, challenge, or qualify the access of the American
Dream given by the United States of America. Whether it is coming to this country for the first time,
leaving your home in search of new opportunities, or coming together to pursue our greatest
aspirations, for some people the American Dream is in far reach, but for others it is right in their grasp.
In America and I , the author Anzia Yezierska speaks to us about her arrival here in America along
with her journey to find herself in what was to her, a foreign land. Referring to her home back in
Russia, Anzia describes it as a prison yet America gave her endless hope in a better tomorrow. She

genuine happiness we must come together to give each other endless support and guidance. Anzia
Yezierska, Langston Hughes, and Barack Obama all share a key characteristic and that is hope.
Through hardships, discrimination, and setbacks they all still held a great confidence that one day
America would truly be a land of opportunity, the land of the free, and lastly a united nation for people

Ovid s Devaluation of Sympathy in Metamorphoses Essay
Ovid s Devaluation of Sympathy in Metamorphoses
Ovid reveals two similar tales of incest in the Metamorphoses. First, he describes the non sisterly love
Byblis acquires for her twin brother Caunus. Later, he revisits the incestuous love theme with the story
of Myrrha who develops a non filial love for her father, Cinyras. The two accounts hold many
similarities and elicit varying reactions. Ovid constantly tugs at our emotions and draws forth
alternating feelings of pity and disgust for the matters at hand. Repetition with a difference in these
two narratives shows how fickle we can be in allotting and denying sympathy, making it seem less
valuable.

further pity. Byblis begins her speech struggling to interpret her dream; it was a beguiling scene yet
seemed so true (308). Myrrha begins asking, Where has my mind led me? (339), and wonders what
makes this incestuous passion unlawful because [she has] not heard that any god or written law

unions like these; envious law forbids what nature permits (Mandelbaum 339), but later, contrary to
this conclusion, she states she does not want to defile the code / of nature with a lawless flame (340).
Myrrha longs to leave [her] native land (339), but her passion compels her to stay so she can see,

Essay about Cultural History of Alcohol
Alcohol has been the lifeblood of civilization dating thousands of years back in time, and it is clear to
see the culture impact it has made throughout history. People perceive alcohol in many different ways;
depending on gender, age, religious background, or social upbringing. Throughout history alcohol has
affected different cultures and various demographics. It has been a source of pleasure and aesthetic in
many cultures, along with being one of the oldest rites of passage, especially in modern day American
society. Alcohol and drinking were also an integral part of religious observances throughout history
and culture. The use of alcohol can be seen as a social lubricant, and besides being a thirst quencher, it

In American culture especially, drinking is seen as a rite of passage or assimilation into adulthood.
Young people in many cultures are introduced to drinking early in life, as a normal part of daily living.
Whereas in America, drinking at a young age is looked down upon, the reverse is true in societies that
maintain the best moderate drinking practices. The idea of a minimum as before someone should be
protected from alcohol is alien in China and France. Children learn to drink early in Zambia by taking
small quantities when they are sent to buy beer; children in France, Italy, and Spain are routinely given
wine as part of a meal or celebration. In the United States, the legal age to drink varies dramatically
form others around the world but is still look upon as a step into adulthood. Though attitudes and
behaviors vary in different places, drinking can be seen as a routine way of assimilating a youth into
their respective culture s social customs.
The relationship between alcoholic beverages and religion goes back thousands of years. The use of
wine is at the heart of many Christian Religions and important Jewish ceremonies are marked by
drinking a prescribe number of glasses. The Ancient Egyptians believe the much worship god Osiris.

gathering? If so, what steps does it suggest?
The Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Database_design specifically mentions information
gathering. It does offer some suggestions, such as cooperating with a person who is expert in the

Voluntaryly Childless Couples
Be fruitful and multiply, this is the word of the Lord. However, this is now being challenged by some
married couples as there is an increasing rate of married couples choosing to remain childless. The
traditional definition of a family is defined as a man and a woman living together with child /children.
However, a new family type has emerged, such as voluntary childless couples. In this family type the
couple is married and is fully capable of biological reproduction, but have no intention of doing so.
Thus, voluntary childlessness among a married couple exists for a number of reasons: due to
achieving a higher level of educational attainment, so as to pursue a higher standard of living and fear
that children will potentially cause an unhappy marriage. Because of achieving a higher level of
educational attainment, some married couples choose to remain childless. The household childlessness
rate is strongly linked to married couples with high educational level. For example, the Australian
Bureau of Statistics indicated that the proportion of couples aged 45 49 years who were childless
increased with higher level of educational attainment. The statistics highlighted that the highest
proportion of childless married couples were among those with a bachelor degree or higher (20%),
compared with 12% of those with an undergraduate or associate diploma. Couples with no post school
qualifications had the lowest level of childlessness (9%). It is seen that the delaying of child

No Country for Old Men Research Paper
No Country for Old Men Cormac McCarthy s novel, No Country for Old Men, enlightens the life of
Llewellyn Moss, a welder and Vietnam veteran, who happens to stumble upon several murdered
bodies, a sufficient supply of cocaine, and two million dollars of cartel drug money. Moss decides to
seize the money and consequently sets off a chase for his life against the old hand sheriff Ed Tom Bell
and hired psychopathic killer Anton Chigurh. However, McCarthy essentially exploits Moss and
Chigurh s escapade only as a subplot and ultimately conveys a deeper meaning. The novelist heavily
relies on Bell s failure to reconcile his morals of the approach crime used to take years before.

After a short swap of words, the owner realizes the simple conversation is starting to become chilling.
As the scene progresses, the proprietor answers a question with, Proprietor: This [gas station] was my
wife s father s place. Chigurh: You married into it (McCarthy 54). Chigurh is offended from the lack
of control the owner has over his own life by the owner marrying into a money orientated item, the
gas station. While Chigurh is aggressive of gaining what he wants from life, the owner sits back and
takes advantage of other people s hard work. As Chigurh grows weary, he takes a coin from his pocket
and flips it and allows destiny to decide his life. The proprietor calls the coin correctly and
unknowingly wins every possible aspect in his life in that single moment. Yet, Chigurh believes he is
not the decider of life or death, but instead an instrument of fate. The fate people brought upon
themselves for the lack of power, a fate that leads the gas station owner to an inevitable conference
with Chigurh. This scene spurs the debate between free will and predestination. Chigurh s coin
flipping settles what the victim will come across next, whether it is life or death. It can now be
assumed there are factors, in which it cannot be avoided because it is predetermined. On the other
hand, his encounter with Carla Jean Moss contradicts predestination. Carla Jean Moss swears, You

The Global War on Terror Essay
The Global War on Terror is a military campaign led by the United States and the United Kingdom
and supported by other NATO members. It was originally against al Qaeda and other terrorist
organizations with the purpose of eliminating them. This paper discusses how the Bush Administration
handled the War on Terror as well as different aspects of it, including its terminology, its objectives, its
military operations and criticism against it.
The United States of America was deeply shocked when, on September 11, 2001, airplanes we used as
missiles to destroy the Twin World Trade Towers and damage the Pentagon. Around 3000 people were
killed because of these terrorist attacks. It was seen as the worst terrorist attack on the United States ...

Moreover, most Muslim communities around the world condemned these acts. Politicians have tried
very hard to separate terrorists from Muslims, but it has been difficult. Economical and geopolitical
history has led to some elements of distrust, as well as extremism in both Christian and Muslim
communities adding to the animosity.
The War on Terror campaign has been addressed by many other names such as: World War III, Bush s
War on Terror, The Long War and The Global War on Terror. It with in Camp David on September 16,
2001, that President George W. Bush used the term War on Terror. In an infamous quote, President
Bush said, This crusade this war on terrorism is going to take a while... This comment was deemed
controversial due to the negative associations of the term crusade with Muslims.
The term War on Terror alone has created a psychological phenomenon that struck fear in the minds of
many Americans. The Bush Administration elevated those three words to a national mantra that had
impacted the American democracy destructively. It had impacted the American psyche as well as the
United States standing in the world. In an article by Zibigniew Brzezinski, he explains, Using this
phrase has actually undermined our ability to effectively confront the real challenges we face from
fanatics who may use terrorism against us.

The Orange County School System
In 1945, a California LULAC Council victoriously sued to merge the Orange County School System,
which had been isolated in light of the fact that Mexican youngsters were inadequately dressed and
mentally sub par compared to white kids (Takaki, 378). In 1954, LULAC brought another historical
case, Hernandez versus the State of Texas, to challenge the fact that a Mexican American had never
been called to jury duty in Texas (Class Lecture, 11/30). The Supreme Court administered this as
illegal. In the twentieth century, starting with the 1952 Hernandez v. Texas suit, the case started to turn
gradually and unyieldingly ( A Class Apart ). That case prompted the first case contended in the
United States Supreme Court by Mexican American lawyers. ... Show more content on

Another instance of minority upheaval is what has now ended up known as the Longoria Affair
(Takaki, 388). This was a critical minute in the early phases of the post World War II social equality
development in the United States. Mrs. Longoria reached out to Dr. Hector Perez Garcia, the author of
the American GI Forum. On January 11, 1949, Garcia assembled a conference of the Corpus Christi
Forum; he additionally sent numerous telegrams and letters to Texas congressmen (Class Lecture
11/9). The national and global press grabbed the story and even affected U.S. Mexican relations. The
Felix Longoria issue turned into an early sample of a binding together occasion in the Mexican
American social liberties development (Takaki, 381). The intercession of Dr. Hector García and the
American GI Forum in the matter prompted an expanded enthusiasm around the nation in opening
nearby sections of the association (Class Lecture, 11/9). Among Mexican Americans and Hispanics
the nation over, the episode turned into an encouraging point and an enlisting instrument for the GI
Forum that soon had sections over the US. While Brown v. Board of Education is a broadly known
point of interest Supreme Court case, few can follow its inceptions to the instance of nine year old
Sylvia Mendez in Mendez v. Westminster (Takaki, 389). Sylvia s case, which was chosen in the
government courts in California, went before Brown by around eight years. Thurgood Marshall spoke

Importance Of Alcestis Silence For Athenian Women
Euripides further demonstrates that he is not a feminist by denying Alcestis of her agency at the end of
Alcestis. When Heracles brings Alcestis back after rescuing her from Death, she has lost the ability to
speak for three days (Alc. 1142 1146). This action denies Alcestis of her agency in several ways. First,
she was never able to actually finish dying to save her husband. By not being able to die, Alcestis
never fully carried out the action that was going to give her agency and honor as a perfect wife.
Secondly, Alcestis silence serves as a way to make her an obedient feminine wife. As Slater mentions,
by presenting Alcestis in this way, Euripides shows that the true glory of an Athenian woman is
silence (116). This creates a view ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While she had the ability to decide if she would be a wiling or unwilling victim, she had no choice in
the fact that she was going to die. This is because Euripides let male characters make the decision that
they would definitely sacrifice Iphigenia. As soon as Agamemnon found out that his daughter would
have to be sacrificed so the Greeks would do well in the war, many men became involved. These men
began to try and plot if they should sacrifice Iphigenia and if they were to go about saving her, how
they should do so. As Christina Sorum points out, Iphigenia perpetuates the patriotic theme introduced
by her father (541). Had Agamemnon never found out that it was prophesized that his daughter should
be sacrificed in order for the Greeks to be successful, Iphigenia would have never had the opportunity
to make the decision to willingly die. Without this decision, Iphigenia would have never been
presented with the opportunity to gain any

Taking a Look at the Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies have been a staple in Major League baseball for over 120 years. The Phillies
are one of the League s oldest teams dating back all the way to the year 1883. Over the years the
Phillies have acquired many accolades and accomplishments; although the Phillies are a decorated
team for many positive reasons they have also become the league s most losing team, with over
10,000 losses. Although the Philadelphia franchise may have the most losses in any professional sport,
whether it is football, basketball, or soccer, they have had many playoff runs and even a few World
Series appearances. Throughout the winning and the losing seasons the Phillies have had some very
good players, which went on to be a Hall of Famers, while many of the players were mediocre at best.
Although not all of the players that played in Philadelphia were good, they had heart and drive to not
let the rambunctious fans in Philadelphia not get the best of them. Whenever a family goes to one of
these baseball games, the game may not be the center of attention for the kids or even the adults with
the most entertaining mascot of all the Phillie Phanatic dancing around and being goofy in front of
20,000 people in the stands. The Phillies are a Major League Baseball team, located in Philadelphia,
PA. The Philadelphia Phillies were founded in 1883,originally named the Philadelphia Quakers to

The Curse Of The Poisened Pretzel Analysis
In the story, The curse of the poisened pretzel, the author develops his point of views in many ways.
He does this without actually stating that Skidmore is guilty. There are many rumors about why they
think he killed his brother and this is why. One of the most promising rumors is the fact that
skiddmore was extremely jelous of his older brother. The majority of the reasoning behind this is the
fact that he was allergic to bubble gum and he saw his older brother flaunting it as an insult. The fame
and riches it brought made the ordeal even worse. Another reason that people think Skidmore killed
his brother was because he wasnt as liked by everyone. His older brother was a very well liked man
that everyone loved. Unlike his bro he gave people

The Request For Proposal Process
Cynthia Holden
IS 578 The Request for Proposal Process
Enterprises seeking a consulting firm or product vendor for management, strategy, outsourcing,
software implementation, change management, or a host of other reasons issue a request for proposal
(RFP) to elicit bids for services or products from vendors in the form of a responding proposal. The
RFP process is a means of bringing structure and transparency to the procurement decision and the
process allows both the client and potential vendors to vet each other to determine if they are suitable
business partners. Before an organization issues the formal RFP to potential vendors, the organization
completes several steps.

And the weight they will assign to each of the criteria.
Drafting and Publishing the RFP Documenting the requirements for the engagement is essential,
however the requirements need not be exhaustive as to limit the creativity of the respondents. The RFP
team needs to take care that the RFP does not include the solution to the issue. In doing so, the team is
essentially saying to the respondents, We know what is best. Consequently, some firms may conclude
that the potential client is difficult to work with and not worth the effort of responding to the RFP. This
limits the pool of respondents and the client may miss an opportunity to collaborate with a consulting
firm or product vendor whose ideas and or products are beneficial to their organization s project
success. Requirements are just a portion of the RFP, it should also include, organizational background,
short project description and project objectives: In my experience this is often the lengthiest section of
the RFP, as it describes the characteristics that define a successful outcome of the project in the team s
estimation. It is worth noting that in general, specific, closed questions are easier to evaluate and score
than open ended ones. However, open ended questions allow for creativity and may add to the
evaluation time, as well as clarity on what the consulting firm or product has to offer. The RFP

Monkey s Quest For Immortality In Journey To The West
Immortality has been made into this ultimate goal. Literature and films have often painted immortality
as a gift only given to the few who have proven themselves worthy of it. A life full of great wisdom,
experience, and many other joys. In Journey to the West, it opens up with the birth of Monkey and
follows him as he tries to achieve immortality. Monkey wants immortality and is willing to do
anything to get it; thinking immortality will bring him a an enlightened life. After reading Journey to
the West, I believe immortality should not be something that is prized as the ultimate gift. I think
living an immortal life would be far worse than a mortal one and throughout this paper I will discuss
why. Why would someone want to be immortal if they cannot share their life with others? Sharing
with others is what life is about. Making connections and relationships ... Show more content on

So many experiences that anyone with the luck of getting to experience one would be grateful.
Monkey became king of his people, he learned great skills from the Patriarch, he went to the heavens
and met the Jade Emperor. Through all these extraordinary events Monkey does not even enjoy them.
Monkey wants immortality so bad that he takes everything, no matter how precious it is, for granted.
All of these experiences can be considered once in a lifetime events but to Monkey they are nothing.
All in all, in my opinion, immortality is worthless. With immortality comes selfishness. Immortals
seem to take everything for granted because they know they will most probably experience it again. I
think living a mortal life is the best and people should stop wishing to be immortal. Mortality is able
to bring out the best in life. With mortality people only have so long before they are gone from the
world and with that little time real happiness is discovered through all of life s hardships. In the end
death is both a hardship a beautiful

Osmosis in Potatoes
AT1 Osmosis In Potatoes
Aim: Investigate the movement of osmosis through a selectively permeable membrane, in this case
potato.
Introduction: Osmosis is the movement of water through a semi permeable membrane, separating
solutions of different concentrations. The water passes from a region of high concentration to a region
of low concentration, until the two concentrations are equal in concentrations of water.
Many cell membranes behave as semi permeable membranes, and osmosis is a vital mechanism in the
transport of fluids in living organisms, for example, in the transport of water from the soil to the roots
in plants.

Method After having done our preliminary work, we knew exactly which measurements we needed to

we intended on doing repeats at the same time as the original experiments were going on.
For organisation s sake, we set up all of the test tubes at once, and labelled them individually to avoid
confusion later on. Into each test tube, we poured 15mls of Glucose solution, and added one of the
potato chips, each weighing around 1 gram, and measuring 33mm by 5mm. In order to make it as
much of a fair test as possible, we added the potato chips very quickly, to make sure one chip didn t
have a longer amount of time in the solution than another. We then left each one for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, we emptied each test tube, leaving only the potato chips inside. Before we measured
and weighed each chip, we dabbed them with paper towel. If we had of left excess water on the chips,
the weights would not be accurate. We then measured the chips in mms because they are a more

Mobile Development And The Mobile Industry
The latter half of the past decade has seen new mobile development platforms emerge and become a
daily part of the average citizen s life. When Apple Inc. introduced the iPhone (one of the first to use a
multi touch interface), the mobile industry experienced a powerful spark. With the creation of the
smartphone came the first, true application, or app , ecosystem. The wide variety of mobile apps
available provide quick and easy access to services such as news and entertainment to health and
fitness. This event quickly restructured the value of certain mobile services and shifted attention to the
seemingly lucrative new economy of app development. Abandoned were the traditional pillars of the
mobile economy (SMS, telco services, mobile handsets?). These were nearly entirely replaced by the
focus towards the mobile app economy. Impressively, this new economy has the largest group of
developers (mostly entrepreneurs) to ever enter a technology industry. Despite the rapid growth and
the wide variety of economic and consumer related experiments being tested to expand the industry, it
is still in an early stage. With the ever increasing number of downloaded apps, entrepreneurs blindly
jump on the App Store bandwagon (or more than 30 other new app stores that have launched).
Currently, that may not be the wisest decision. The App Store hysteria is beginning to turn into a tech
bubble in which most developers will not ever be able to recover their costs. Experts are

3rd Writing Assignment
At the end of the 19th century, fin de siècle did not just indicate the end of one century: it indicated the
collapse of language and a way of thinking. This idea was illustrated by works such as von
Hofmannstahl s Lord Chandos Letter and Schnitzler s Dream Story, which seem to argue that a new
mode of thinking was necessary for a new age. Indeed, Freud s writings and Trakl s poems offered this
new mode of thinking by challenging the border between what is real and what is imaginary through
their works. In music and art, a similar trend was taking place: late 19th century works offered the
audience a window into the artist s emotions, experiences, and desires. This idea is seen in Gustav
Mahler s 1st Symphony and Egon Schiele s Seated Male Nude, in which both artists channel their
experiences and emotions to release suppressed elements of their psyches. However, the purpose for
their expressivity is different: Mahler s expressivity stems from a desire to find relief from mental
stress stemming from his turbulent life, Schiele s from a desire to explore new ways of conveying the
self.
Mahler s 1st Symphony holds an intimate relationship with his childhood and upbringing; the music
reflects and reveals Mahler s experiences and desires for what his future will look like. From the
beginning of his 1st Symphony, Mahler paints a vast, open space with the string s sustained, unison A.
Various musical figures in the beginning of the 1st

How Did Martha Graham Influence Modern Dance
Martha Graham was known as the mother of modern dance She was born 1894, in Pittsburgh USA.
Graham has influenced modern dance through her technique, performance and choreographs. Mather

choreographer whose name became synonymous with modern dance (nytimes, 1991). Throughout her
career of more then 50 years she created more than 180 works form solos to group pieces. She has

Miki Orihara was the new, doll like princess, climbing up Jason s thigh or astride his shoulder, fueling
Medea s hate as she lies near the spectacular gold bush Noguchi created for Graham.
That shimmering cage with its porcupine like quills recalls that Medea is the daughter of the sun. But
the same needles are instruments of torture that she plunges into her victims.
Mr. Rioult occasionally lost the shape of the movement. He imitates rather than executes Graham
technique, but he made Jason s humiliation of Medea dramatic nonetheless. Miss Orihara, whose work
in the ensemble is always outstanding, pulled out all the stops magnificently in her frenzied fit after
Medea gave her a poisoned crown. Miss Jimenez needs to emphasize the distortion of the
choreography, but her accent on sorrow in the role of the chorus was moving and apt.
Miss Sherman s Medea is a brilliant surface realization at this point. Her body was all zigzag and

  • 2. Military Customs Military Customs and Courtesies In the Army and throughout every branch there are certain customs and courtesies that every soldier and military member must follow in order for there to be order and discipline on a daily basis. Customs and courtesies are put in to place to show respect for Non Commissioned Officers and for Officers of all rank. In this essay, I will be writing about the importance of salutes, standing at the correct position when talking to someone higher ranking than yourself, using proper language when talking to someone of a higher rank, where you should walk when walking with someone of a higher rank, as well as other customs and courtesies you find throughout the army and all other branches. A custom is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Salutes are not required when you are indoors unless you are reporting to an officer or when on guard duty or when saluting is obviously inappropriate. It is important to show noncommissioned officers respect as well. You do not salute them; you stand at parade rest when talking to them and address them by their proper rank. The ranks you say when speaking to a noncommissioned officer are Corporal, sergeant, master sergeant, first sergeant and sergeant major. When talking to an NCO, you always finish your sentence with his or her rank. Here is an example: I do not know the answer but I will find out and let you know Sergeant. It is simple and easy to remember for most soldiers, while other soldiers need to remind themselves constantly to do this. Another military custom from ancient times states that you should always sit or walk to the left of your superiors. This custom came about in old English times and stems from very old English tradition. The right is known as the position of honor. Most people are right handed and back in the time of knights, the majority of knights would hold their sword in their right now and their shield in their left hand. ... • 3. The Importance Of Technology On The Phone2action System Once our competence was acknowledged we were brought in to also help with Jira tickets. Not yet on the sprint team but our code would be directly affecting the Phone2Action platform. It was intimidating to say the least. Since we were going to be programming on the platform we had to learn to use a lot more applications and dependency managers like gulp, yarn, composer, and NPM to name a few, using terminal commands to manage dependencies and keep them updated. Phone2Action had many checks and balances when it came to platform code. The Engineers used Tower and Beanstalk for source control and code reviews, later moving to git hub after our new CTO started. Once you finished and tested your code and got the results your Jira ticket ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whenever I was having a hard time with my ticket I would read some relevant source code and see how the other Engineers made similar things work. It was not required that you marked what block of code you worked on in a comment, but in some I found initials stating who wrote that block or file, but for the most part once the code was merged in you had to guess who wrote what. I believe this is the case because in one of my first sprint meetings I was told they do not point fingers when something is not working properly, or if a bug comes up, they just fixed it. There were so many files, some auto generated by the Laravel framework and many completely written by the company. They were all organized perfectly in a system that was confusing from the outside looking in, but made more sense than not once you figured out how the system worked. If a bit of code could be written in its own file, then it should be. Everyone advocated for this design because it was more manageable then scrolling through huge files to find a single function. I ran into files that were only a few lines long and files that were thousands of lines. The campaign controller that handled most of the campaign creation traffic was the biggest file they had according to Luke. It had about 9000 lines of working code and every single line seemed like it had a purpose. I would eventually contribute to this number. Phone2Action s platform was written primarily in PHP and JavaScript under the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Application Of A Desktop Study Desktop Study A desktop study, as its name implies, can be done entirely from a computer and is often the first step in preliminary site investigations. The process of a desktop study involves correlating background information about the site that will affect the design and construction; from a desk study a large amount of relevant information can be gathered, such as: local context (i.e. what is near to the site, the aesthetic of the surrounding buildings); archaeology (beneath the surface of a site there may be unexploded bombs, remnants of old structures etc.); easements (the rights attached to neighbouring lands, for example right to light); the likelihood of contaminated soil (which we know we do have on our site); site ecology (the surrounding environment and how it coexists together). Having this knowledge of the site before any work has begun allows for easier planning later as obstacles that could have been a costly surprise later can be solved with much better efficiency. The process of a desktop study could also involve looking at OS (ordnance survey) maps of the site which can reveal the previous usage of the site as well as drainage and much more. Geological maps can show what the ground conditions are like on site and if there is any risk of, for example, subsidence occurring or if it already has. Service maps can be inspected to find hidden services, for example telephone cables or drainage. The findings of previous surveys, if they exist, can also be found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The vantage point of paying everyone equally, regardless of race, gender, religious and/or sexual preference may seem as an obvious option as we are all created equal. The vantage point of paying a person what they are worth, what type of experience they may bring to the table, or what value they could potentially add also provides a sensible solution to paycheck discrepancies. Now with new technology, such as satellites systems, low altitude photography and side looking radar, scientists can now figure that the world is losing about 20.4 million hectares of tropical forests annually and if these figures are not reduced, we will lose all of our tropical forests in about 50 years. It has been suggested that the high deforestation rates are caused partly by the fact that the new surveys are more accurate and thus reveal old deforestation rates that have not been detected with older methods. At first there was concern only among foresters about deforestation but now the public has created organizations such as Green Peace to help increase awareness and reduce deforestation. The Food and Agriculture Organization or F.A.O, has worked mainly within the forest community to find new and better ways to manage the forests. Also, in 1985 there was the introduction of the Tropical Forestry Action Plan or T.F.A.P. This plan involved the F.A.O, United Nations development programs, the World Bank, other development agencies, several tropical country governments, and several government organizations. It is a real struggle and absolutely abnormal thing to follow and pursue dreams. Attending nursing school, to me, has been a dream that I have had for over ten years. Through the countinous support of my family, colleagues, and teachers, I have finally reached my dream of being admitted for nursing school. It was a long and tough journey, but I am here! I am so excited, as well as my family, because they have seen my struggles. Fighting against poverty while raising a family of four on a single income and attending college is a daily struggle, but I am slowly getting to be where I want to be through job security as a nurse. In the meantime, it is a constant battle. All the while, we must also endure life s hurdles that have been thrown at us and worry about my youngest son who is four years old and has battled Neuroblastoma stage 4 cancer. Even though my son s cancer is stable, we must still make regular trips to Dallas as all his doctors are there. Although my son is a very energetic, one of a kind, very special kid, his illness has been a financial burden on us. We are constantly having to make sure we have our vehicle maintenanced because these trips take a toll on it. My husband is the only one who works now, so any extra expenses that will be needed for school will require me to get a loan. This is why I need and welcome any extra help for school that I can get. • 10. Effectiveness Of Successful Resilience Programs For Nurses Shortcomings in the Literature Although CF and resilience are relatively new areas of research, there are several studies that cite their importance and benefit to combatting illness, nursing and patient quality of life, and retention rates. As mentioned previously, CF adversely affects both nursing retention rates, as well as patient outcomes. Hart, Brannan, and Chesnay felt a majority of factors in patient dissatisfaction were the same factors that increased stress in nurses; thus, patient and nurse quality of life are inseparably tied together. Preliminary studies show that resilience strengthening classes for nurses significantly alleviates CF rates. However, no studies to date try to link these classes for nurses with patient outcomes. Patients who have more resilience have better outcomes, especially long term and with regard to their families. Research should be done to examine whether successful resilience programs for nurses also affect both patient outcomes and patient resilience levels. If these are significantly benefited by resilience programs, then resilience programs for nurses will have a greater reputation among healthcare organizations. If both nursing and patient outcomes are benefited, the cost effectiveness and necessity of these programs will be realized, as well as advancement in healthcare efficacy. In current times we often observe that many members of our society receive less than other members regardless of whether they are no less deserving. In contrast, there are some who have ownership over assets and earn income that they may not be deserving of. The distributive balance is upset and wealth distribution today can thus be seen as a social injustice. This injustice that is becoming more noticeable as people start to become aware of the facts, as we can see through the start of the occupy wall street movements that, first started on wall street in America, have spread to other countries (one of which being Australia). As a consequence of how wealth is habitually distributed and the way in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the wealthiest 20% account for 62% of total household net worth, with an average net worth of $2.2 million per household while the poorest 20% of households account for only 1% of total household net worth, with an average net worth of $31,829 per household. This can be at least partly attributed to a decrease in tax rate increments. The statistics draw on the selected income distribution indicators, which specify disposable household income (money that can be kept and spent for recreational purposes), show that those individuals in the high income bracket receive 40% of their total income while those in the low income bracket only receive 10%. Consequently, the net worth across households becomes even less matched as the rich not only have a considerably higher income, but are also able to save up much more. The discrepancies between the net worth in households are therefore exponentially larger than the discrepancies that exist in income, which reflects the previously mentioned pattern of people accumulating wealth through their working lives. The indignant attitudes posited by the movement can therefore be seen as justified. However, thought it may be justified, the movement seems to lack a focused goal they demand that some change is needed so that the situation regarding inequality can be rectified, but their demands fail to offer articulated strategy as to how this can be ... One exception of this policy was the Green Standard forces but they were used mostly as a police force (Green). However, by the 19th century, this all started to fall apart from the opium trade and the great rebellions. The opium trade severely affected the Banner forces combat effectiveness and ability to fight the rebellions through addiction (Green). The great rebellions of the middle of the 19th century proved that the Manchu s control over the population was weakening greatly; and because of this, the Manchu had to provide sweeping military reforms to allow Han Chinese a portion of the Manchu military monopoly (Green). The opium trade really affected the allowance of the Manchu military monopoly and essentially, helped give the Han Chinese the ability to raise an army and keep that army. • 13. Theoretical Paradigms Of Structural Family Systems Theory The major theoretical paradigm that informs structural family therapy is based on systems theory. The word system is rooted in Latin and Greek words that mean to place together so a system can be thought of as an entity made out of other entities that are placed together (Rosenblatt, 1994, pg. 49). In systems theory there are many elements, assumptions, definitions to address the different dynamics within a system. According to Rosenblatt (1994) systems theory provides insight into how systems (families) are formed and highlights the patterns that surface within the system. Systems theory places emphasis on the entire system (entire family), rather than focusing on the different parts (individuals) of the system (Rosenblatt, 1994). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Vetere (2001) structure is defined by any given point in time where families organize themselves based on overt/covert rules that impact the behaviors and choices of the family. Systems theory discusses the different levels in a system and how one level influences another and so this same assumptions can be observed in structural model (Rosenblatt, 1994). In structural model the family is looked at as being embedded within wider social systems which serve as transactional patterns (Navarre, 1998). Each family member can be characterized in more than one subsystem for a permanent or short period of time. The roles of each member will be defined based on the subsystem they are in. Family members are categorized by different subsystems, which can consist of parental, couple, parent child, grandparent, male/female, power, hobby and interest (Minuchin, 1974). Hence, based on the relationship of a subsystem families can form coalitions, enmeshment and disengagement. The journey was expected to be difficult and the new land was expected to be unlike anything they had ever seen before. While on the ship destined for what is now known as America, John Winthrop pulled all the Puritans together and delivered to them a speech bestowed upon him from God. With the time that the Puritans would have in the new world, this was beautiful music to the Puritans ears. Lastly, the Puritans lack of possessions would allow them to depend on one another much more in the bonds of brotherly affection (Winthrop 148). Since the Puritans would have no possessions to spend time on, they had more time to spend with one another, and thus depend on one another. Through spending time with one another, the Puritans would build bonds and friendships that are much better than any material possessions they could own. Through these points, Winthrop encourages the Puritans to not become weary about their lack of wealth, but instead see their poor souls as opportunities for God to work in their life. Winthrop was aware that as the Puritans headed to the new world, they would have to be completely reliant on one another. Winthrop encourages the Puritans to love their neighbors as themselves. Winthrop motivates the Puritans to love their enemies and those who do them wrong. Through the words of Jesus, Winthrop encourages the Puritans to act in the way of the golden rule (149). • 15. Justice Is Not Rigid And Unchanging Like So Many People Justice is not rigid and unchanging like so many want to believe. For the Ancient Greeks in the 8th century, blood justice is the only way to settle disputes. By the mid 400s BCE, there are glimpses of what will later become a trial by jury in a democratic judicial system. Aeschylus plays show a distinct shift from blood justice to a more democratic system. Even Homer, when writing his epic works, seems to hint at a better way to resolve conflict than the eye for an eye mentality. The Iliad acts as book ends to the transformation of blood justice to a trial by jury as presented by The Oresteia; and that transformation positively influences how Western culture deals with justice. Blood justice to the Ancient Greeks is their way of enacting retribution on parties that did them wrong. The punishment required by blood justice must fit the crime committed, Act for act, wound for wound life for a life; and that leads to many turning to their rage as a tool to help them justify their actions (Agamemnon 1555). The Iliad opens with Rage Goddess, sing the rage of Peleus son Achilles (Iliad i.1). It is Achilles rage that is called upon and drives his actions through the entire work. Achilles rage is to right a great wrong done to him, but it comes at a deadly cost. Patroclus begs to be sent into battle to help the Greeks fight. He wants to bring some light of victory to the Argives by donning Achilles armor to boost morale and drive back the Trojans (Iliad xvi.43 49). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, this is now being challenged by some married couples as there is an increasing rate of married couples choosing to remain childless. The traditional definition of a family is defined as a man and a woman living together with child /children. However, a new family type has emerged, such as voluntary childless couples. In this family type the couple is married and is fully capable of biological reproduction, but have no intention of doing so. Thus, voluntary childlessness among a married couple exists for a number of reasons: due to achieving a higher level of educational attainment, so as to pursue a higher standard of living and fear that children will potentially cause an unhappy marriage. Because of achieving a higher level of educational attainment, some married couples choose to remain childless. The household childlessness rate is strongly linked to married couples with high educational level. Despite the rapid growth and the wide variety of economic and consumer related experiments being tested to expand the industry, it is still in an early stage. With the ever increasing number of downloaded apps, entrepreneurs blindly jump on the App Store bandwagon (or more than 30 other new app stores that have launched). Currently, that may not be the wisest decision. The App Store hysteria is beginning to turn into a tech bubble in which most developers will not ever be able to recover their costs. Experts are ... • 33. S 1st Symphony And Lord Chandos Letter And Schnitzler s... Jaehun Lee 12/4/17 3rd Writing Assignment At the end of the 19th century, fin de siècle did not just indicate the end of one century: it indicated the collapse of language and a way of thinking. This idea was illustrated by works such as von Hofmannstahl s Lord Chandos Letter and Schnitzler s Dream Story, which seem to argue that a new mode of thinking was necessary for a new age. Indeed, Freud s writings and Trakl s poems offered this new mode of thinking by challenging the border between what is real and what is imaginary through their works. In music and art, a similar trend was taking place: late 19th century works offered the audience a window into the artist s emotions, experiences, and desires. This idea is seen in Gustav Mahler s 1st Symphony and Egon Schiele s Seated Male Nude, in which both artists channel their experiences and emotions to release suppressed elements of their psyches. However, the purpose for their expressivity is different: Mahler s expressivity stems from a desire to find relief from mental stress stemming from his turbulent life, Schiele s from a desire to explore new ways of conveying the self. Mahler s 1st Symphony holds an intimate relationship with his childhood and upbringing; the music reflects and reveals Mahler s experiences and desires for what his future will look like. From the beginning of his 1st Symphony, Mahler paints a vast, open space with the string s sustained, unison A. Various musical figures in the beginning of the 1st ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Miki Orihara was the new, doll like princess, climbing up Jason s thigh or astride his shoulder, fueling Medea s hate as she lies near the spectacular gold bush Noguchi created for Graham. That shimmering cage with its porcupine like quills recalls that Medea is the daughter of the sun. But the same needles are instruments of torture that she plunges into her victims. Mr. Rioult occasionally lost the shape of the movement. He imitates rather than executes Graham technique, but he made Jason s humiliation of Medea dramatic nonetheless. Miss Orihara, whose work in the ensemble is always outstanding, pulled out all the stops magnificently in her frenzied fit after Medea gave her a poisoned crown. Miss Jimenez needs to emphasize the distortion of the choreography, but her accent on sorrow in the role of the chorus was moving and apt. Miss Sherman s Medea is a brilliant surface realization at this point. Her body was all zigzag and angles, hip and shoulder raised, head cocked to one side. Jealousy becomes venom, the human figure is seen in the image of a snake. Her simulated spewing of the famous fanglike red ribbon was as rhythmically insistent as Samuel Barber s ...
