This document provides an evaluation of a poster campaign for the brand Canon with a theme of "Journeys." It describes the process of developing the poster, including struggles finding the right background texture, selecting three key photos from footage taken with friends, and adding various design elements like fonts, stickers, and social media icons. Feedback noted some fonts were unclear. The conclusion reflects on enjoying capturing memories with friends during production but finding the pre-planning risky without controlled footage. 1. Canon campaign: Poster evaluation
Aimingtopromote the brand,Canon,a campaignwas setwitha theme beingJourneys.Connecting
it to the brief,itwasup to uson howwe were togo aboutthat. For me,I wantedbase myproducts
on the ideaof collectingmemories.Droppinganythingjustto go outwiththose closestandenjoying
life.Comingupwiththis,Iwasinspiredbythe title 'anunexpectedjourney'writtenupforthe first
Hobbitnovel.
WALLPAPER
Startingwithwhatreallymakesthe digital printaposter,the background.Thiswasprobablythe
sectorI struggledwithmostingettingright.There wasonlyfourattemptsinfindingthe right
backdrop,but still itwashard enoughwiththe aimtofindsomethingred,butnottoo red.Textured,
but nottoo textured.Paper-like.Realistic-ish.Just,anythingthatwouldworkasa posterbackground
withthat hintof realism.
Havinga feelingthe backgroundinuse wasn'tgoingtowork,I wentand tooka few back-upextra
imagestopossiblyuse asbackdropsforthe wallpaper.Eitherthat,oranotherideacame into mind.
That beingtohave multiple draftsallowingachance withthe eachof the backgrounds.Not
continuingonwithanyof the footage,Istill have accesstoit.
1 - One idea was to use a wooden base to plaster the images on. Using the side of mywardrobe, I could imagine the poster
with pictures being pinned on the board.

2. 2 - Another idea that came into mind was using an actual page from a book with extra props placed around it adding to the
scrapbook theme. Not being much of a fan of this outcome idea, I didn't believe there would be enough room to create a
poster on top of the picture.

3. 3 - Placing a found wooden frame on the wall, glue tack had been placed on one side of the frame to make the prop stick to
the wall. Not lasting so long before the item would fall, I had to be quick with capturing the photograph having the idea to
place any other pictures set between the edges.

4. 4 - Removing the frame, for this background the pictures inserted could have been spread more out compared to the last
not having a barrier.
The firstexperimentwasn'tevenanimage unlikethe lastthree.Withthe firstgoat it,all I did was
change the colour of the emptylayoutfromwhite tored.Trying that,the the image lookedtoo
blandand plain.Itwasboringand flat.Movingon fromthat, a redcolouredpaperimagedwassaved
fromgoogle andwas inserted.Lookingbettercompared,itstill didn'tlookright.Keepingithow it
remainedforthe screening,someoneevencommentedonthe backgroundfindingit"bland"and
"veryred".
Findinganothertwoimages,theywere bothtestedoutonthe posterandI had wentaheadwiththe
one on the updatedversionfound now.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Onlyneedingthree imagesforthe poster,withhavingalotof useful footage gathered,itdidtake a
while tototal downand choose whichIwantedto carry throughintothe final product.Having
varioussettingsaswell,Iwashavingtochoose one image perfile soall that were placed,were all
differenttothe next.
Once all the imageswere selected,the sizeswereplayedaroundwithbeforetheywere setinstone
for placement.Afterthat,eachpicture waseditedlookingdifferenttothe nextratherthanincluding
the image untouched.

5. Usingthree completelydifferentimagestoputonthe digital print,the firstIknew I wantedtouse
was the three shotwithfriendssattogether,lookingoff camerasmilingandlaughing.There wasa
debate onwhichI shouldhave wentaheadandusedas fromthe party setting,the selectionwas
totalleddowntotwo.The one that was included,then...
5 - This picture taken on the same day. As the chosen image represents a moment caught with friends having fun. As of the
one not chosen, a whole group is in the frame posing for the camera, with a banner above titling the image. With the lass at
the side being blurred slightly, that did put me off using it. As of the one that did make it into the final cut, I reallylike how it
wasn't even a pose for the device. The camera caught that unscripted moment of true friends having a laugh.
6 - Getting onto the one with a a dogs head appearing behind a pair of legs, an overhead shot in use to take inserted image
after a long night out. Resulting after those few hours we had been out, the very same dog had been flat out as soon as we
got in.
There isalso a fourthpicture,thatbeingthe image of the canon cameraitself.Usingmyphone to
getthe resultingpicture,itdidtake quite alotjust to geta decentphotograph.Havingthe lighton
first,the resultsweren'tsopleasing.Overcomingthis,Ihada go at gettinga few withthe light
turnedoff havingthe onlysource of lightcome fromthe flashonthe same phone.

6. 7 - Here is an example of the one of the few taken with the light still on. Shadows fall behind and there isn't really much to
highlight. All it is is a piece of technology sat down with zero flare being given.
8 - Having the light off whilst finding the right shot, with how dark the room was it ended up being a pretty difficult image
to capture. As said, the only use of light came from the flash every time the phone took a picture. Not being able to see
what was on camera, a lot went into making the sure the focus went into the right section. Failing multiple times, we got
there in the end.
Havingsome helpgettingthe shot,Irequestedof someonetoholda,removable,shelf thathadtoof
beenpulledfromundermydeskandleanagainstone of the wallsinthe room.Doingso, the device I
was takingan image of hadbeenseton that surface readyto give satisfactoryshotsIcouldtake into
the final product.Avoidingcatchingthe fingersof the helper,he hadtoholdthe shelf from
underneathinaimstoget the bestshot.
TEXT
For thisposter,there wasa lotof textusedall havingtheirown fontstosingle themselvesout.This
goingtowardsboththe sloganandtagline aswell asthe quirkymessagesspreadamongstthe print
from'my journeys','Mitzie!!','dayatthe arcade',and '18th!!!'. For the firsttwomentioned,the use
of fontshadbeenbroughtupby a memberof the audience duringthe screeningclaimingthey
weren'tsoclear.Changingthe fontsinan updatedversion,now more readable asmentioned.
Withthe text,Iaimedfora serif styledfontforeverypiece of textincluded.Wanting the wordsto
lookas if theywere handwritten,asI exploredthroughthe optionsIonlyallowedthe onesthat
lookedlike theycouldhave beenwrittendowncatchmyattention.

7. PNG FILES
Plentyof PNGswere use throughoutthe makingof thisproduct,thatincludingsome fake stickersto
add ontothe scrapbookbaseddesign.Social mediaicondesignsallowingthe audiencetoknow
whichsocialstheyare have beengrantedaccesstowardsif theyeverfancylookingmore intothe
technology.The additional tape placedontopof the picturesaddingthe effectof thembeing
printedandstuckonto a real page.The roughcircle goingaroundthe word'you' to highlightwho
the the posteris for.Andfinallythe paperaeroplane doodle insertedunderonthe wordswitha trail
followingbehindindicatingthe plane isonliftoff.Can'tforgetthe arrowspointingtowardsall the
insertedimagerylinkingthe text.

CONCLUSION:
What I enjoyedmostoutof thisprojecthad to be the productionstage.Spendingsomanyhours
withthose closesttome some for the purpose of the advertisement,othernot.Eitherway,the
memoriesthatgotput togetherforthe outcome all come frommy memoriesthathave beencaught
on camera.Andit was amazinggettingtosave those momentsaswell asshare themby putting
themintomy final outcomes.
SomethingIdidn'treallyenjoyaboutworkingtowardsthe final piece hadtobe the pre-production.
Althoughthatisfull of tasksI findI actuallyenjoy,formyprojectthere wasn'tmuchplanningIcould
evengetdone withthe ideaof unplannedadventures.There waspartsI couldcontrol suchas times
and days of goingout,possiblysceneries.The footage itself iswhatIcouldn'tcontrol.Leadingtothe
riskof notgettingeverythingIneeded.Luckily,atthe endof it all now I didgetall the footage,but
that riskwas still there preventingme fromgettingfar.
Overall,Iam quite happywiththe resultof the final outcome.Startingoff withonlyhavingalittle
amountof experience andskillwithphotoshop,itwasquite fungettingtotryoutall the toolsand
playaroundwiththe software makingmywayaround it.
