Candidiasis is an infection caused by the yeast Candida albicans, which commonly affects moist areas of the body like the mouth, skin, vagina, and gastrointestinal tract. Risk factors include antibiotics use, pregnancy, diabetes, and immunosuppression. Symptoms vary by location but include lesions, discharge, itching, and pain. Nystatin is often the treatment of choice and is used orally or vaginally. Pediculosis is an infestation of lice that lives on humans. It can occur on the scalp (pediculosis capitis), body (pediculosis corporis), or pubic area. Symptoms include itching, rashes, and lesions. Diagnosis involves examination

2. • The infection which are caused by candidia
albicans are known as candidiasis.
• Candidiasis is normally found on mucus
membrane, skin, vagina and gastro intestinal
tract.

4. RISK FACTORS
• Warm or moist areas of skin.
• Use of continuous systemic antibiotics
• Pregnancy
• Use of contraceptive drugs
• Poor nutrition
• DM
• Immuno suppressive stages

5. CLINICAL FEATURES
• The first sign of infection is formation of
pustules.
• Yellow or white colour curd like substance will
be present over the infected area.
• The lesions will be present and the
characteristics of the lesion will be different
according to the location.

6. • If the candidiasis occurs in the mouth the
lesions will be white, cheesy plaque, which
resembles curd.
• If occur in the vagina, the infected site will be
red, edematous, painful, white patches,
vaginal discharge, itching, pain during
micturation etc will be present.

7. • If the disease occurs in the skin erythmatous
rashus will be present

8. TREATMENT
• Nystatin is the most common and effective
drug of choice for candidial infection.
• It is more commonly used in the form of oral
tablets and vaginal suppositories.

parasites lives in the blood of animals and in the
human host.

• Pediculosis capitis
• Pediculosis corporis
• Pediculosis pubis

12. PEDICULOSIS CAPITIS
• Infection of scalp with pediculi
• Pediculi will be present behind the ear and in
the folds of neck
• Eggs are visible to human naked eyes and it
will be stick to the hair that are difficult to
remove.
• It can spread to other hairy areas such as axilla
and pubic region

13. CLINICAL FEATURES
• Pruritis will be present
• Scratching and erythema of the scalp
• Crust formation
• Fowl smell

14. PEDICULOSIS CORPORIS
• It is the infection of the body with pediculi or
lice and it is more common in people who
have no bathing and washing facilities.

15. CLINICAL FEATURES
• Lesions will be present in the site of lice bite
mainly on shoulder, trunk and buttocks.
• Macules will be present and later macules will
appear as pustules.
• Itching over the area and hyperpigmentation
will occur

16. PEDICULOSIS PUBIS
• It is normally found in the hair of the chest,
axilla and pubic area.
• It is transmitted by sexual contact with some
one who already infected.

17. CLINICAL FEATURES
• The patient will have severe skin irritation and
severe itching during night

18. DIAGNOSIS
• History
• Physical examination
• Patients head, hair and cloths should be
examined for the eggs of lice.

19. TREATMENT
• Use shampoo which contains lindane.
• Permethrin 1% cream is used for the
treatment of head lice.
• The medicine is applying on the hair then left
for 30 min to 8 hrs then washed it off.the
treatment should repeat weekly.
• Thick layer of petroleum jelly is used twice in a
day for 8 days for the treatment of eyebrow
infestation.

20. NURSING MANAGEMENT
• Wash the linen and cloths with soap and hot
water or dry cleaning of the cloth should be
done.
• Iron the cloths before use
• Do not share the hair brush, comb, cloths like
pillow cover, towel, linen etc.
