This document summarizes an experiment that used the Taguchi method to optimize weld bead geometry in submerged arc welds on EN24 steel alloy. The researchers conducted experiments using an orthogonal array to test different combinations of welding voltage, current, and travel speed. Analysis of variance showed that voltage had the greatest influence on weld penetration shape factor. The optimal parameters found were a voltage of 30V, current of 300A, and speed of 30m/hr, which produced the maximum penetration. In conclusion, voltage was identified as the most significant factor controlling weld bead geometry according to this experiment.
