It identifies several key elements including the headline, main image, secondary images, drop cap, date line, page numbers, quotes, columns, byline, magazine title, color scheme, and layout. The headline is meant to attract readers with a catchy title that indicates the article topic. The main image also aims to attract readers and should relate to the article topic. Secondary images, quotes, and columns are used to break up text and add visual interest. We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
2. Headline
The headline is an important convention of a double
page spread in a magazine. It tells the reader what the
article is about usually in a short, snappy eye catching
way. Often they have a ‘pun’ or funny use of words
which will attract the target audience. However, in our
case we will use ‘teens in sport’ which is our
documentary title. This is because it informs the reader
exactly what the article is about before they read the
article. This text is the biggest text on the screen so the
reader can easily read it. It will give them an insight to
what the article is about so they can decide whether
they would like to read it or not. The font will be clear
and easy to read so the reader doesn’t have an issue
understanding what it means, if it is unclear they might
be put off and not want to read it.
3. Main image
The main image is used to attract the target audience to the
article. The subject in the photo graph will relate to the
article. For example if the article is about a celebrity, the
celeb featured will be in the main image. Direct address is
used along with the main image to attract attention from the
reader. Rule of thirds will play a part with the main image as
it will be in the center of the page which is where people
naturally look first. The colour scheme of the main image will
match the rest of the double page spread to make it look
professional. It will be the biggest image on the page. The
positioning of the image and any props used may notify what
the article is about e.g if we use any sports equipment or
clothing it will indicate it is about sport. Also, we will use
teenager(s) as the subject, this will be relatable to our target
audience as well as looking the part and matching our ‘teens
in sport’ documentary title.
4. Secondary images
The images will be smaller than the main
images as they are less important and
mainly used to fill the page and add extra
little details to attract the target audience.
Teenagers like a mix of text and images in
articles so we will incorporate both so it will
be visually appealing to them. These
images will be appropriate and suit the
genre as well as include teenagers and
props such as footballs and other sports
equipment.
5. Drop cap
This is used in a magazine article to
directly show the reader where the
article begins. It draws the attention to
the start of the article rather than any
other section in the text. If a drop cap
is not used the audience may not
want to read the article. They add
personality and visual strength to the
page.
6. Date line
The date line simply informs the
reader of when the article was written
or when the magazine was released.
It is an important convention of a
magazine double page spread. There
will also be a release date at the end
of the article about when the
documentary will be released so the
audience know when to watch it if
they are interested.
7. Page numbers
The page numbers on a double page
spread are very important as it tells
them they are on the right page if they
are looking for a specific article
directed from the contents page. They
are also vital conventions for a double
page spread.
8. Quotes
Quotes will be used directly from interviews
and voxpops and will give the reader an
insight into what they will be watching in the
documentary. They may add humor to
attract the target audience as many
teenagers enjoy funny articles over serious
ones depending on the topic. E.g one expert
says ‘academical’. We will also use quotes
based on stats featured in the documentary
to show accurate information about real life
teenagers and sport.
9. Columns
Columns are most commonly used to break
up large bodies of text and will also be used
to make the double page spread look more
visually appealing and attractive to the
target audience. It will also make it look
easier to read and the text will be
standardised in a simple font throughout so
it is clear and easy to understand. Columns
also make the page look professional. We
may add images within the columns to
break up the text even more.
10. By line
The by line is used to inform the
reader who the article is written
by. Readers who enjoy the article
may want to research the writer
for extra information if they are
interested in the topic.
11. Magazine title
The is often at the bottom of the page
to inform the reader of what magazine
this article is from. If the article is
being read online then the reader
may not know what magazine it is on
so this will tell them. It also makes it
branded as it is an important
convention of a magazine double
page spread.
12. Colour scheme
The colour scheme is very important as it standardises
the page and makes it look professional. If there is no
continuous colour scheme ten the pages may look
jumbled and the reader may get confused. The colour
scheme we plan to use in our magazine is red, blues
and yellows. This is because they are the primary
colours and stand out most to the audience. Our
documentary is about sport which encourages a healthy
fun lifestyle, these colours match this genre. The
headline will be red as it will stand out to the reader and
the background white so the other colours contrast and
the background looks clean. The main image will also
match the colour scheme and the text will be black so it
is clear and easy to read.
13. Layout
The layout if very important when it comes to a double
page spread of a magazine, this is because it will
attract the audience and encourage them to read the
article. It is important to have all of the conventions in
their correct places so the reader does not get confused
and they can easily read the article with no issues. The
headline will be at the top of the page so it can easily
be seen, the main image will be large and cover most of
one side, page numbers at the bottom and the text in
columns. If the double page spread does not look
professional, the reader may not trust it and therefore
not believe what is being said in the article.
