Differences Between Facts And Theories Of Math And History...
Differences in the Relationship between Facts and Theories: Math and History Theories have been
defines as integrated set of concepts formed into propositions that explain different phenomena or
events (Schneider 2), while facts as thing that is undisputed as the case or corresponds to the truth
(Mellor 110). Both facts and theories are used to generate knowledge that can be applied in verse
situations. However, the relationship between facts and theories differs between different areas of
knowledge and there is no universal law dictating it, with some areas such as math having the theories
precede the facts, while other areas such as history having the facts precede the theories. This paper
will discuss the differences in the relationship of facts and theories of math and history using calculus
and World War II respectively. First argument The first argument analyses math and the notion that
theories precede the facts in this field. This argument uses calculus as a real life situation. Calculus is a
branch of mathematics involved with the calculation of varying quantities (Rohde et al. 1). It is
considered significant because it provides principles required to calculate quantities that cannot be
calculated using other mathematical concepts such as algebra or geometry (Rohde et al. 1; and Ledder
5 ). Most of its concepts apply deductive thinking making it one of the most applied mathematical
concepts in real life situations. Like most mathematical branches calculus is

The Power Of The Crown And The Authority Of The Government
The power of the crown and the authority of the government is limited by the Declaration of Man and
the Citizen. One situation where the government is limited is where Men are born free and remain
equal in rights. (1789, Art, 1, DRMC.) The government must give all men equal rights. The rights of
man include liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression. (1789, Art, 2, DRMC.) Both the
power of the crown and the authority of the government are limited by (1789, Art, 3, DRMC.) no
individual can exercise authority which does not emanate from it expressly. If authority does not
originate directly from the crown or a member of government, they may not exercise said authority.
The law has the right to prohibit only those actions harmful to society. (1789, Art, 5, DRMC.) Neither
the power of the crown nor government can prohibit an individual from doing something that is not
harmful to society or force an individual to do what it does not order by obstructing or changing the
law. The right to concur personally or through their representative in its formation... must be the same
for everyone. Authority must give the same rights to everyone to concur personally or through their
representative. (1789, Art, 6, DRMC.) In Article 8, the government or power of crown may only
punish a person if strictly and plainly necessary. (1789, Art, 8, DRMC.) If unneccessary, a person may
not be penalized by government or the power of the crown. Individuals

Margaret Bourke-White Research Paper
Margaret Bourke White, world renowned photographer, was a true icon to the world because of her
unusual early life and education, her striking industrial photography career, powerful human interest
photography, and her heroic battle with a crippling disease in her final years. Margaret Bourke White s
younger years took a unique and interesting route. On June 14, 1904 (Browne 38), Joseph and Minnie
White (Goldberg 9) brought Margaret Bourke White (Welch 27) into the world in the Bronx, New
York (Oden 2). Margaret s was meant to be birthed on June 13, but after discovering that Joseph and

1924, Margaret found out she was with child (Goldberg 54). Due to the unstable condition of her and

Global Trade and Addiction during the Age of Exploration...
Maritime advances of the 1500s made Western Europe s ambitions for global trade feasible and thus
gave birth to Europe s Age of Exploration. Through the combined use of caravels, compasses, and
astrolabes, Europeans stumbled upon commodities in foreign lands known as drug foods .
Consequently, this introduction would have a lasting impact on the Europeans, they became drug
addicts. Furthermore, this addiction, the demand for these drugs, became permanently embedded into
European culture. To please an everlasting demand, Europeans had to decide on how to frugally
acquire these commodities. The decision taken was one of regarding profit over ethics. Moreover, this
decision not only impacted the culture and economy of the exploiters, ... Show more content on

England s unethical decision, fueled by greed, not only exploited but also crippled China s society and
culture. The Chinese became addicted to opium, and thus, instead of working and living as righteous
citizens, they spent all of their money and time to feed their addiction for opium. While China s tea
fostered England s economic productivity and culture, England s opium destroyed China s economic
productivity and culture due to England s unethical business decision. As tea and sugar are
complimentary goods, Europe s increase demand for tea resulted in an increase demand for sugar. To
answer this demand, Portugal, by the means of imperialism, became the main supplier of sugar to
Europe. Portugal colonized Haiti and Brazil, turning both into sugar factories. Though the majority of
Portuguese were Roman Catholics, they ignored their religious culture that emphasized morality for
the sake of capitalism. The Portuguese enslaved Africans in return for free labor or maximum profits.
The slaves were subject to inhumane conditions, as there was no concern for their health, abandoned
families, and moreover the morality of their situation. While Portugal became a leading imperialist
power in Europe, it consequently, permanently robbed Haiti s viability. Presently, Haiti is one of the
poorest and least developed countries in the world; moreover, its future prospects look bleak to none.

Why Do I Want To Be A Senior Year Essay
I am a senior at Mooreville High School who is in a contest to win $25,000. I am also a musician who

Queensland Bulls Research Paper
The Queensland Bulls Cricket Team Queensland s Premier Male Cricket Team Since 1882
Queensland s Cricket History Cricket can be seen in Queensland as early as 1857, two years before its
separation from New South Wales and statehood. The first inter colonial, or representative, match was
in 1864 when the Queensland XXII was beaten by the New South Wales XI. They would record their
first victory in 1875 when the Queensland XVIII beat the NSW XI. This victory was the spark behind
the formation of the Queensland Cricket Association the following year. In 1892/93, ten years after the
formation of the Queensland Bulls, they were granted first class status, winning their inaugural first
class match against NSW in that season by 14 runs. Due to the tyranny of distance, and the fact that
the players held non professional status, the opportunities for more than a few first class competitions
were limited. During the 1892/93 season they rarely played more than two inter colonial matches. ...

They were finally admitted to the Sheffield Shield 34 years later for the 1926/27 season. It was a
successful debut for them, defeating NSW in their first ever Shield match. Like most new teams it was
hard for them to maintain that level of competition. During the first 19 seasons they finished last (out
of the then four team competition) 15 times. Queensland has gained momentum over the years and
had gone on to win the Sheffield Shield seven times: 1995, 1997, 2000 2002, 2006, and 2012. They
have also won the One Day Cups ten times: 1976, 1981 1982, 1989, 1998, 2007, and 2013 2014.

Customer Behavior Of The B2b Space And The B2c Space
General Electric is a great example of a company that operates within both the business to consumer
space and the business to business space. As far as consumer products are concerned, GE provides a
number of products and services including, electronics, appliances, lighting, personal healthcare, and
housewares. In the B2B space specifically, GE has a number of divisions, including aviation, energy
consulting and management, healthcare, oil and gas, mining, power, and transportation. There are
many differences between the customer behavior of the B2B space and the B2C space. For one thing,
the wants and the needs of these two customers are entirely different. Individual consumers only need
to worry about their own needs, whereas B2B customers need to look at the needs of the company as a
whole. It behooves B2B companies to seek out influencers and powerful executives, while B2C
companies may focus on any one consumer seeking a product or service. In this corporate space,
customers needs are based less off personal reflection and more on the company s overall business
strategy. Businesses customers are more likely to research product attitudes, including quality,
productivity, and overall value. Additionally, when it comes to choosing or identifying the products
that they need, businesses generally have a process that they follow when they go about making
purchasing decisions that is more strict than your everyday consumer. There are, in most cases,

The Impact Of Clustering Methods For Pricing A Large...
The Impact of Clustering Method for Pricing a Large Portfolio of VA Policies 1 Variable Annuity
Variable annuities(VAs) are popular life insurance products in the insurance industry. VAs are long
term contracts designed for offering post retirement income (Bacinelloa, Millossovich, Olivieri,
Pitacco, 2011). VAs have attractive features such as dynamic investment opportunity and guarantees
against the investment and early death risks. A single premium or recurrent premiums from
policyholders are invested into the different risk return portfolio decided by the policyholders. There
are different reference funds in each different risk return portfolio. Different risk return portfolio can

However, these risks interact each other and the iteraction is not fully understood. Appropriate risk
management is required. Pricing and hedging of guarantees is the major concern of the contract
design. This risk should be considered during the process of pricing. For example, Bacinelloa,
Millossovich, Olivieri and Pitacco(2011) introduced a unifying valuation approach for VAs depending
on different assumptions of policyholder behavior 1.1Guaranteed Minimum Benefits There are two
main classes of guarantees: Guaranteed Minimum Death Benefit (GMDB)and Guaranteed Minimum
Living Benefit (GMLB). There are three types of benefits in GMLB: Guaranteed Minimum
Accumulation Benefit (GMAB), Guaranteed Minimum Income Benefit (GMIB), Guaranteed
Minimum Withdrawal Benefit (GMWB). The simplest form of guaranteed benefit is Guaranteed
Minimum Accumulation Benefit, it provides a minimum account value at maturity. Usually, the
minimum account value is the initial premium amount. It gives the policyholders the chance of
renewing account value at maturity when the investment performance is bad. Guaranteed Minimum
Income Benefit also provides a guaranteed account value at maturity, but policyholders only can take
out the account value in the form of annuity at specified annuity rate. This guarantee also reduces the
risk from the annuity rate at maturity. In the money means that the annuity payment resulting from

The Negative Consequences Of Socrates
Socrates (467 399) was the first poor philosopher. He is well known for dialoguing and entering into
study by asking questions, which is the basis for the Socratic Method. Also known for vehemently
speaking out againstwriting, Socrates never wrote any of his philosophies down. He believed that
writing made people intellectually lazy, and instead of expanding their capacity for memory, made it
smaller. This is a very interesting thing to consider, since many people will write things down instead
of committing them to memory because it is easier. Socrates was against the teaching of ideas without
dialogue, which he believed writing tried to attempt by preventing people from really engaging the
subject matter on their own. However, I think that the benefits of writing far outweigh the negative
consequences of it. Without writing, humans would have a limited way of passing information on,
especially in communication with those in other parts of the world, and in the future. Interesting, as a
result of his distaste for writing, any information about Socrates philosophies that we have come from
other people who recorded his ideas, most notably Plato (427 347). Plato decided to write out Socrates
many dialogues, even though he knew of Socrates critique of writing. It is possible that he did not
believe writing out Socrates dialogues was wrong since it does encourage readers engagment in the
information as it is written in a conversational style. So what made Socrates enter

The Criminal Code Is Responsible For Controlling Firearms
Canada, like Australia, saw a mass shooting in 1989 that acted as a catalyst for change in gun policy in
Canada. On December 6, 1989 a male, aged 25 went into the École Polytechnique de Montréal (Patel).
The male had a 223 caliber rifle in his possession (Patel). One that day there was 14 women who were
shot, and 14 who were injured (Patel). Marc Lépine, the offender, stated to the women as he was
killing them that he was doing this since they were feminists and he did not want them to become
engineers since they would be taking jobs from men (Patel). This shooting unlike any other that had
been seen in Canada s history. In Canada, the Firearms Act, and the Criminal Code are responsible for
controlling firearms (Library of Congress Canada 1). The Criminal Code is responsible for defining
the main categories of firearms, which include restricted, prohibited, and non restricted firearms
(Library of Congress Canada 1). The Firearms Act is responsible for regulating the possession,
transport, and storage of firearms (Library of Congress Canada 1). In Canada it is required that you
have a license and register your firearm in order to legally own one (Library of Congress Canada 1).
The licensing and registration are set forth and administered by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
There are many phrases in the English language that, when analyzed, don t make sense at all. For
example, the kiss of death is one of these phrases. Typically we think of a kiss as something nice, a
way of affection from a partner, a parent, grandparent, or even friend. So pairing this joyful word with
something that so many people dread is admittedly an odd choice. Used as a marking of fate, a kiss of
death is a concept that seems very taboo, but really this comparison of light and dark has been used
more often than we may think. In Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour , she utilizes
imagery by using language that is often self contradictory. With her combination of dark and cheerful
imagery, Chopin creates a very uneasy mood throughout the story that helps to reflect Mrs. Mallard s
emotional conflict with her physical surroundings.
After Mr. Mallards announced death, Chopin used the sky as a type of symbolic imagery. In a state of
suspension, Mrs. Mallard stood at the open window, looking out at the scenery in front of her house.
As she looked out the window, she saw that There were patches of blue sky showing here and there
through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other, (Chopin 1). In this example, Chopin
uses her imagery to reflect the stress that is being lifted from Mrs. Mallard. Over the course of her
marriage, Louise Mallard had been suppressing these feelings of entrapment, causing them to build on
themselves like the heavy weight

Discussing Drug Legalization
Drugs are bad, mkay. That s what we ve come to learn from Mr. Mackey in South Park (Ike s Wee
Wee). While that is known, what is the best way to combat drug use in society today? It is true the
government is spending billions of dollars on the War on Drugs, but if they were to be legalized would
that be replaced with money being spent on healthcare due to drug related incidents, or drug treatment
programs? It is true that a large amount of crime and the prison population are drug related offenders,
but would that reduce with drug legalization or would we not see any difference? It is true that there is
the pro and con side of this debate, but if drugs were to be legalized what sanctions should be set, if
any? It is true that Portugal has decriminalized drugs, but will their experience be a good example of
what would come to be if the US were to do the same? Both sides of the debate have a hopeful view
of what will ultimately lead us into the betterment of tomorrow. The issue regarding all drugs being
legalized has many facets with positive and negative impacts that make you question where you truly
stand on this controversial matter.
When it comes to discussing drug legalization it is important to understand why drugs were initially
criminalized and the effects they have on the individual, families and society as a whole. Most drugs
were actually once used medicinally, legally. Amphetamine was given to World War II soldiers to
combat fatigue and prescribed after the war

The Key Issues Brought Up By Plato
The key issue brought up by Plato in his book is what justice is. Plato needed to create a conclusion to
the common conditions and political disaster in Athens, keeping in mind the end goal to spare his
adored Athens from rot and destroy. He found in justice the main solution of saving Athens from rot
and proposed his idea of justice. Conversations between the characters provide different definitions
and reasoning on what justice and what it means to be a just person. Given the two questions, Plato s
philosophical ideas in the conversation are moral and political. So to answer these questions correctly,
Socrates and his conversationalists develop a city as an example, the Kallipolis. They do this keeping
in mind the end goal to clarify what justice is. While trying to come up with his idea of justice, ...

Plato strikes a similarity between the human living being from one viewpoint and social living being
on the other. Human creature as per Plato contains three components Reason, Spirit and Appetite. An
individual is just when each piece of his or her spirit plays out its capacities without meddling with
those of different components. For instance, the reason ought to run for the benefit of the whole soul
with insight and planning. The component of soul will lower itself to the lead of reason. Those two
components are a blend of mental preparing. They are put in order over the hungers which frame most
of man s spirit. Consequently, the reason and soul need to control these cravings which are probably
going to develop on the substantial joys. These cravings ought not be permitted, to oppress alternate
components and usurp the territory to which they have no privilege. At the point when all the three

The Right Of The Inventors With The Rights Of A Public
a) The patent system attempts to balance the right of the inventors with the rights of the public.
(A.Brewer) The purpose of this was to encourage scientific progress while rewarding inventors the
ownership of their ideas for a period of time and the right of the public to use these ideas to create new
inventions. An example of this is the HIV medication. Recently the CEO of Turing Martin Shkreli,
decided to increase the price of their life saving pill from $13.50 to $750 to recuperate costs of
research and development. Due to the patent filed that prevents competitors from replicating the drug,

The America Invents Act has shifted the power of intellectual property towards large companies who
have the ability to file provisional patents before individual inventors or smaller companies can file.
d) The obviousness contention of patents takes four primary concepts into consideration after Graham
et al. v. John Deere Co.: 1) the scope of the prior art, 2) the level of ordinary skill in the art, 3)
differences between the new inventions and prior art, 4)Evidence of not being obvious. These
contentions of obviousness have since been expanded by KSR v. Teleflex. This introduced the idea of
a person having ordinary skills in the arts. Subsequently this shifted the litmus test to if a person with
ordinary skill in the arts are given the elements of the invention would they be able to replicate the
invention without any help.
e) Provisional patents provide a party the ability to file first and allow the inventor a year to develop
the provisional patent to convert it to either a utility, plant or design patent. The content is never
disclosed which allows another parties to file on the same content without the first parties knowledge.
The provisional patents must detail the design of the invention and cannot simply be an idea.

decide what is true or not.
In Gryphon, Miss Ferenczi specifically calls her wronged math answer a substitute fact but also tells
the class many other things and myths that are true. For example, she tells the class a great deal about
Egypt and that features of the Constitution of the United States are notable for their Egyptian ideas.

She talks about tress in the world...that eat meat and witch doctors as doctors are magicians. (147) The
class receives a lot of factual information that makes them very interested. It causes them to think
deeply and discuss with their classmates. Miss Ferenczi even asks herself will the plants on the
windowsill be hurt (142) if she says what she tells her class. Her words cannot hurt anyone and they
did not. However, they did emotionally trouble Wayne, who was scared of the tarot death card Miss
Ferenczi showed him. This led to a physical fight between the narrator and Wayne because the
narrator was defending Miss Ferenczi, which was the only event that hurt someone. There are a lot of
things in schools that are completely factual and provable. These things are mainly in basic math, and
history. On the contrary, there are many disputable things in science and advanced math that could be
comparable to a substitute fact. In biology there is a long and ongoing debate between religious
parents and non religious on whether or not evolution is real. It s in textbooks, and depending on a
student s teacher, it will be taught in class whether a student chooses to believe it or not. Other than
that, there are still many theories rather than laws in science that challenge students to disprove them.
Math is rather the same in that there are a lot of theories named after old mathematicians. There is the
Pythagorean Theorem, Fundamental Theorems,

making somebody Prime Minister or Premier, but as a movement bringing something better to the
people, better standards of living, greater happiness to the mass of the people. We have a great
objective the light on the hill which we aim to reach by working for the betterment of mankind not
only here but anywhere we may give a helping hand.
This is but a short excerpt of Ben Chifley s famous Light on the Hill speech in 1949, but it shows the
extent of his political aptitude and beliefs as a true believer in the Labour movement. He is best
recognised for his leadership in the Keynesian, interventionalist reconstruction of the Australian
economy following the Second World War and also his tenure as the architect of the Australian
welfare state since 1945. As such, it is highly evident Ben Chifley had a substantial impact on the post
war Australian economy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Educating himself in economics and finance in order to boost his electoral appeal, Chifley began his
political career in 1928, having won the NSW seat of Macquarie for the ALP and later became prime
minister following John Curtin s death in 1945. Chifley heavily believed in the ideology of democratic
socialism, the guiding philosophy of the Australian Labor party, which led him to attempt to achieve
what he described as, a greater general intervention and planning in economic and social affairs in

Analysis Of Miss Lonelyhearts And The Day Of The Locust
In Miss Lonelyhearts and The Day of the Locust, each character experiences suffering, and in each
case the suffering is ridiculed. Schadenfreude is a basic human experience; human beings do find
humor in other s misfortune. Society is so accustomed to the feeling of schadenfreude that hardly
anyone knows exactly where it comes from or how distasteful it is. Society feeds schadenfreude of
physical pain by letting it reside throughout comedy. Almost every comedic movie, show, song, sketch
or any other form of entertainment is cluttered with people being hurt. Harry Greener s clown show in
The Day of the Locust is completely centered around his pain. When he stands up, the audience,
which failed to laugh at his joke, laughs at his limp, so he continues lame for the rest of the act, (West,
The Day 78). The entire comedy genre thrives off of schadenfreude. Perhaps this is because the
audience knows that the subject is not truly hurt, so it becomes funny to see people such as Curly,
Moe, and Larry beat each other. Perhaps it is because people use laughter as a shield against pain.
When people see pain they laugh to make it seem that it did not actually hurt. It is a product of
empathy for him who was hurt. Laughter serves to camouflage embarrassment which is included in
empathy. The ways in which characters receive injuries are usually embarrassing, and the audience
feels the embarrassment causing them to laugh.
Schadenfreude is embedded in human emotions such as envy,

Fiscal Policy is one of the two aspects that are utilized by the Federal Government to influence the
economy. Fiscal, which is signified as financial is a policy that can cause alternating changes in

non inflationary inner outputs within the economy. During the year of 2007, a crisis within some of
the major financial institutes off the nation occurred that resulted in the Great Recession, that reveal in
the following year of 2008 the Fiscal Policy was conveyed as expansionary. Expansionary Fiscal

to keep the economic sustained, the government would increase governmental spending and, also

Robert Neville is the last normal living man in the world. The all of New York City is in ruins. How
long can Robert Neville survive alone with his dog in a world of vampires and how long do you think
you can live in this case?
The film, I Am Legend is a post apocalyptic science fiction film directed by Francis Lawrence and
starring Will Smith. It was released on December 14th, 2007. This film is actually the third adaptation
of Richard Matheson s novel of the same name from 1954. Smith plays virologist Robert Neville, who
lives in New York City in 2012, which is inhabited by animalistic victims of the virus. He is immune

It tells us that technology sometimes is dangerous and vital if we cannot gain power over it. Later in
the movie, Dr. Neville takes Anna to the lab, Anna is amazed to see the zombies lying on the bed, and
simply sighed Oh my god , Dr. Neville just said calmly God didn t do this; we did . Again, Dr. Neville
uncovered the truth that all the faults actually are made by ourselves though new technology does help
us in some cases. However, human begins should be responsible for what they have done to the whole
world in the near future, meanwhile, it also teaches us a lesson that never rush to create new
technology at the cost of the whole world and all the living things in the world.
There is an alternate ending which is totally different from the original one we have seen in the movie,
which amazed me a lot. In the original one, it is a pity that Dr. Neville died in the end with the self
explored; according to many reviews, the majority of the audiences do not like this ending. The
alternate ending is that Robert finally brushes up against a zombie next to him and comes in contact
with him; he never gets that close to any of them in the movie and seeing that gives me a chill. In this
ending, it leaves me the normal human feelings, which makes Dr. Neville more like a legend.

The Current Global Advancements Of Technology
With the current global advancements in technology, organizations have been left with no choice,
other than joining the revolution and providing digital content for the public. In the same spirit,
Housing Works has invested in the online platform, through the creation of the website,
www.housingworks.org. Through the site, it is able to communicate its mission, purpose and vision,
and then welcome the public to contact them with their feedback. The following are the means used by
the website to communicate with the public: The most prominent mode of communication on the
website is the use of testimonials. In fact, this element is strategically placed at the topmost section of
the website. As such, the website visitors get the earliest opportunity to read the testimonials about
how the organization has been successful in helping people who are infected with (or affected by)
HIV/AIDS. This is a very effective mode of communication, since it not only informs the visitors
about the organization, but also encourages them to keep reading the web content.
Secondly, the website uses headlines to communicate its mission. This is its most effective means of
communication. Housing Works official mission statement explains that the organization aims at
helping people living with (or affected by) HIV/AIDS, through advocacy, service provision, and
entrepreneurial businesses. It, then, uses the three pillars of its mission as the main headings of the
site. Therefore, visitors to the

Julius Caesar Evil
Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar takes place in Rome at the time of Caesar s assassination. After
Caesar returns home, he is hailed as a war hero, and the citizens of Rome plan to crown him as their
ruler. Cassius, knowing Caesar will soon become a tyrant, convinces the honorable and well respected
Brutus, a good friend of Caesar, to murder him for the good of the city. Although many consider Julius
Caesar the hero of the play, Brutus is the true Shakespearean tragic hero. This is proven first by his
inherently honorable character. Furthermore, Brutus s loyalty, which in most cases is considered a
virtue, becomes a sin within the context of the story. Lastly, Brutus becomes blind to reality, believing
the murder of Caesar is a good and necessary act.
First and foremost, Brutus is proven to be a tragic hero by his good character. Brutus, unlike Caesar, is
a humble man, known in the town to be loyal and put others before himself. For example, while
Cassius attempts to rile Brutus up over Caesar s newfound fame, he argues the point that Brutus has an
inherent right to the throne. Brutus responds to this by saying that [he] had rather be a villager / Than
to repute himself a son of Rome (Shakespeare 1.2.180 181). While Caesar is so intoxicated by the
attention and fame he receives that he agrees to rule without any critical thinking, Brutus, not blinded
by greed or pride, is able to clearly see that taking on this power would not be wise. Very few would
be able to resist this opportunity to be at the center of all this praise, but Brutus is both humble and
wise enough to turn down what should be his role because he realizes the ability to be worshipped is
not enough to make a leader. Although literary critic Harold Bloom argues that Brutus is ... morally
rather vain ... [and] powerfully self centered (1 2), it is proven throughout the novel that Brutus has
practically no ego and puts the needs of the Romans before his own. Brutus is modest, intelligent, and
at his center, a good person.
Another characteristic of Brutus that defines him as a tragic hero is his virtue of loyalty to Rome used
as a sin. The night before Caesar s downfall, Brutus receives an abundance of letters, declaring Caesar
unfit to be

The Battle Of Vikings Essay
The history of Norway is a story of harsh, unforgiving environment and near constant conflict with its
neighbors. As the last ice age ended and rising temperatures finally made Norway habitable in 7,000
BC, the first human settlers arrived in Norway. For the next 4,000 years, these first settlers relied
solely on hunting and fishing, until the introduction of farming in 3,000 BC. By the 9th century AD,
the famous Vikings based out of Norway were raiding towns and cities throughout Europe. Despite the
belief that the Vikings were one united group, Norway was still at this time split into dozens of
independent tribes. The first man to call himself king of Norway was Harald Fairhair in the 9th
century. Despite his claim to be king of all of Norway, Harald Fairhair only controlled the western
coast of the country. In the centuries following Fairhairs death, several kings claimed Norway, with
varying degrees of success and control. In 1060, one of these kings, Olaf Haraldson, even attempted a
failed invasion of England.
In 1130 AD, Norway was plunged into a series of violent civil wars. These conflicts continued until, in
1217 King Haakon finally returned stability and peace to the battered nation. During King Haakon s
rule Norway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Norwegian assembly began to demand more independence from Sweden. Sweden continually
refused these demands; negotiations went on for the next decade until they finally broke down in
1905. In protest, Norway completely dissolved its government. The king of Sweden failed to form a
new government in Norway. In June 1905 politician Christian Michelsen argued that the Swedish king
had effectively abdicated by failing to appoint a new government. He was no longer acting as king of
Norway. So the Storting declared that the union with Sweden was dissolved because of the king
ceasing to function as a Norwegian king . On

When Irene Character Analysis
I believe that Claire was pushed out of the window at the end of the novel. This belief stems from the
buildup of resentment that Irene had felt toward Claire during the entirety of the story, but I thought
that in the final section this resentment began to go from simply not agreeing each other to Irene
feeling threatened by Claire.
Irene and Brian have what seems to be a marriage held together by children and when Irene begins to
suspect Claire is using her charms to win over Brian, Irene immediately starts to fear Brian leaving her
for Claire. This would rip apart the stability that Irene wants so desperately in her life and she cannot
allow that. We have watched Irene attempt to manipulate people throughout the story, especially with
Brian as exemplified by her not allowing Brian to leave his job for the sake of the family. When Irene
starts to imagine Claire taking away Brian, I think that it is not a stretch to think that Irene would do
whatever it takes to make sure that the situation could not possibly come up.
Looking past Irene s desire for stability, I believe that her continuous jealousy towards Claire would
serve as proof for Irene pushing Claire out of the window. Irene describes Claire ... Show more

Irene begins to imagine the possibility of Brian and Claire having an affair and begins to spin a web of
negative emotions in her head until she breaks the cup she was holding in frustration. This instance is
critical as it shows us that Irene can be pushed to rash and violent action when she thinks about Claire
taking her husband away from her. While the argument can be made that breaking a cup and pushing a
person are two separate actions with the later being harder to carry out, I think that Irene perpetually
overthinks things to the point where she blocks out the outside world whenever something stressful

How To Make Dr Jekyll Smoothie
For my upcoming project I plan to construct a tasteful smoothie that is blended with several of
ingredients that are high in protein and contain many nutrients. The reason I chose to do a smoothie as
my project is because I personally identify the potion from the story The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde to resemble closely to what I am trying to make in such a way that allows myself to
recreate what Dr. Jekyll has. The potion in the story is such a critical aspect as it affect how Dr. Jekyll
is able to interchange between personas back and forth. This to me was distinguishable the most in the
story as it was a combination between the horror and science fiction genre which drew my attention.

  • 2. Differences Between Facts And Theories Of Math And History... Differences in the Relationship between Facts and Theories: Math and History Theories have been defines as integrated set of concepts formed into propositions that explain different phenomena or events (Schneider 2), while facts as thing that is undisputed as the case or corresponds to the truth (Mellor 110). Both facts and theories are used to generate knowledge that can be applied in verse situations. However, the relationship between facts and theories differs between different areas of knowledge and there is no universal law dictating it, with some areas such as math having the theories precede the facts, while other areas such as history having the facts precede the theories. This paper will discuss the differences in the relationship of facts and theories of math and history using calculus and World War II respectively. First argument The first argument analyses math and the notion that theories precede the facts in this field. This argument uses calculus as a real life situation. Calculus is a branch of mathematics involved with the calculation of varying quantities (Rohde et al. 1). It is considered significant because it provides principles required to calculate quantities that cannot be calculated using other mathematical concepts such as algebra or geometry (Rohde et al. 1; and Ledder 5 ). Most of its concepts apply deductive thinking making it one of the most applied mathematical concepts in real life situations. Like most mathematical branches calculus is ... He is well known for dialoguing and entering into study by asking questions, which is the basis for the Socratic Method. Also known for vehemently speaking out againstwriting, Socrates never wrote any of his philosophies down. He believed that writing made people intellectually lazy, and instead of expanding their capacity for memory, made it smaller. This is a very interesting thing to consider, since many people will write things down instead of committing them to memory because it is easier. Socrates was against the teaching of ideas without dialogue, which he believed writing tried to attempt by preventing people from really engaging the subject matter on their own. However, I think that the benefits of writing far outweigh the negative consequences of it. Without writing, humans would have a limited way of passing information on, especially in communication with those in other parts of the world, and in the future. Interesting, as a result of his distaste for writing, any information about Socrates philosophies that we have come from other people who recorded his ideas, most notably Plato (427 347). Plato decided to write out Socrates many dialogues, even though he knew of Socrates critique of writing. • 17. Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour There are many phrases in the English language that, when analyzed, don t make sense at all. For example, the kiss of death is one of these phrases. Typically we think of a kiss as something nice, a way of affection from a partner, a parent, grandparent, or even friend. So pairing this joyful word with something that so many people dread is admittedly an odd choice. Used as a marking of fate, a kiss of death is a concept that seems very taboo, but really this comparison of light and dark has been used more often than we may think. In Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour , she utilizes imagery by using language that is often self contradictory. With her combination of dark and cheerful imagery, Chopin creates a very uneasy mood throughout the story that helps to reflect Mrs. Mallard s emotional conflict with her physical surroundings. After Mr. Mallards announced death, Chopin used the sky as a type of symbolic imagery. In a state of suspension, Mrs. Mallard stood at the open window, looking out at the scenery in front of her house. As she looked out the window, she saw that There were patches of blue sky showing here and there through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other, (Chopin 1). In this example, Chopin uses her imagery to reflect the stress that is being lifted from Mrs. Mallard. Schadenfreude is a basic human experience; human beings do find humor in other s misfortune. Society is so accustomed to the feeling of schadenfreude that hardly anyone knows exactly where it comes from or how distasteful it is. Society feeds schadenfreude of physical pain by letting it reside throughout comedy. Almost every comedic movie, show, song, sketch or any other form of entertainment is cluttered with people being hurt. Harry Greener s clown show in The Day of the Locust is completely centered around his pain. When he stands up, the audience, which failed to laugh at his joke, laughs at his limp, so he continues lame for the rest of the act, (West, The Day 78). The entire comedy genre thrives off of schadenfreude. Perhaps this is because the audience knows that the subject is not truly hurt, so it becomes funny to see people such as Curly, Moe, and Larry beat each other. Perhaps it is because people use laughter as a shield against pain. When people see pain they laugh to make it seem that it did not actually hurt. It is a product of empathy for him who was hurt. However, human begins should be responsible for what they have done to the whole world in the near future, meanwhile, it also teaches us a lesson that never rush to create new technology at the cost of the whole world and all the living things in the world. There is an alternate ending which is totally different from the original one we have seen in the movie, which amazed me a lot. In the original one, it is a pity that Dr. Neville died in the end with the self explored; according to many reviews, the majority of the audiences do not like this ending. The alternate ending is that Robert finally brushes up against a zombie next to him and comes in contact with him; he never gets that close to any of them in the movie and seeing that gives me a chill. In this ending, it leaves me the normal human feelings, which makes Dr. Neville more like a legend. However, the original one is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Current Global Advancements Of Technology With the current global advancements in technology, organizations have been left with no choice, other than joining the revolution and providing digital content for the public. In the same spirit, Housing Works has invested in the online platform, through the creation of the website, www.housingworks.org. Through the site, it is able to communicate its mission, purpose and vision, and then welcome the public to contact them with their feedback. The following are the means used by the website to communicate with the public: The most prominent mode of communication on the website is the use of testimonials. In fact, this element is strategically placed at the topmost section of the website. As such, the website visitors get the earliest opportunity to read the testimonials about how the organization has been successful in helping people who are infected with (or affected by) HIV/AIDS. This is a very effective mode of communication, since it not only informs the visitors about the organization, but also encourages them to keep reading the web content. • 28. Julius Caesar Evil Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar takes place in Rome at the time of Caesar s assassination. After Caesar returns home, he is hailed as a war hero, and the citizens of Rome plan to crown him as their ruler. Cassius, knowing Caesar will soon become a tyrant, convinces the honorable and well respected Brutus, a good friend of Caesar, to murder him for the good of the city. Although many consider Julius Caesar the hero of the play, Brutus is the true Shakespearean tragic hero. This is proven first by his inherently honorable character. Furthermore, Brutus s loyalty, which in most cases is considered a virtue, becomes a sin within the context of the story. Lastly, Brutus becomes blind to reality, believing the murder of Caesar is a good and necessary act. First and foremost, Brutus is proven to be a tragic hero by his good character. Brutus, unlike Caesar, is a humble man, known in the town to be loyal and put others before himself. For example, while Cassius attempts to rile Brutus up over Caesar s newfound fame, he argues the point that Brutus has an inherent right to the throne. Brutus responds to this by saying that [he] had rather be a villager / Than to repute himself a son of Rome (Shakespeare 1.2.180 181). While Caesar is so intoxicated by the attention and fame he receives that he agrees to rule without any critical thinking, Brutus, not blinded by greed or pride, is able to clearly see that taking on this power would not be wise. Very few would be able to resist this opportunity to be at the center of all this praise, but Brutus is both humble and wise enough to turn down what should be his role because he realizes the ability to be worshipped is not enough to make a leader. Although literary critic Harold Bloom argues that Brutus is ... morally rather vain ... [and] powerfully self centered (1 2), it is proven throughout the novel that Brutus has practically no ego and puts the needs of the Romans before his own. Brutus is modest, intelligent, and at his center, a good person. Another characteristic of Brutus that defines him as a tragic hero is his virtue of loyalty to Rome used as a sin. The night before Caesar s downfall, Brutus receives an abundance of letters, declaring Caesar unfit to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Battle Of Vikings Essay The history of Norway is a story of harsh, unforgiving environment and near constant conflict with its neighbors. As the last ice age ended and rising temperatures finally made Norway habitable in 7,000 BC, the first human settlers arrived in Norway. For the next 4,000 years, these first settlers relied solely on hunting and fishing, until the introduction of farming in 3,000 BC. By the 9th century AD, the famous Vikings based out of Norway were raiding towns and cities throughout Europe. Despite the belief that the Vikings were one united group, Norway was still at this time split into dozens of independent tribes. The first man to call himself king of Norway was Harald Fairhair in the 9th century. Despite his claim to be king of all of Norway, Harald Fairhair only controlled the western coast of the country. In the centuries following Fairhairs death, several kings claimed Norway, with varying degrees of success and control. In 1060, one of these kings, Olaf Haraldson, even attempted a failed invasion of England. In 1130 AD, Norway was plunged into a series of violent civil wars. These conflicts continued until, in 1217 King Haakon finally returned stability and peace to the battered nation. During King Haakon s rule Norway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In June 1905 politician Christian Michelsen argued that the Swedish king had effectively abdicated by failing to appoint a new government. He was no longer acting as king of Norway. So the Storting declared that the union with Sweden was dissolved because of the king ceasing to function as a Norwegian king . On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. When Irene Character Analysis I believe that Claire was pushed out of the window at the end of the novel. This belief stems from the buildup of resentment that Irene had felt toward Claire during the entirety of the story, but I thought that in the final section this resentment began to go from simply not agreeing each other to Irene feeling threatened by Claire. Irene and Brian have what seems to be a marriage held together by children and when Irene begins to suspect Claire is using her charms to win over Brian, Irene immediately starts to fear Brian leaving her for Claire. This would rip apart the stability that Irene wants so desperately in her life and she cannot allow that. We have watched Irene attempt to manipulate people throughout the story, especially with Brian as exemplified by her not allowing Brian to leave his job for the sake of the family. When Irene starts to imagine Claire taking away Brian, I think that it is not a stretch to think that Irene would do whatever it takes to make sure that the situation could not possibly come up. Looking past Irene s desire for stability, I believe that her continuous jealousy towards Claire would serve as proof for Irene pushing Claire out of the window. Irene describes Claire ... Irene begins to imagine the possibility of Brian and Claire having an affair and begins to spin a web of negative emotions in her head until she breaks the cup she was holding in frustration. This instance is critical as it shows us that Irene can be pushed to rash and violent action when she thinks about Claire taking her husband away from her. While the argument can be made that breaking a cup and pushing a person are two separate actions with the later being harder to carry out, I think that Irene perpetually overthinks things to the point where she blocks out the outside world whenever something stressful beings to weigh on ... The reason I chose to do a smoothie as my project is because I personally identify the potion from the story The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to resemble closely to what I am trying to make in such a way that allows myself to recreate what Dr. Jekyll has. The potion in the story is such a critical aspect as it affect how Dr. Jekyll is able to interchange between personas back and forth. This to me was distinguishable the most in the story as it was a combination between the horror and science fiction genre which drew my attention. In the text there is a specific quote ...
