unturned? Do you have a checklist you consult? Is there a formula that has been ingrained in you due
to education or instruction? However you choose to make sure your research is complete, you are
performing a specific form of methodology known to genealogists the world over.

philosophical system or inquiry procedure. Also, The system of methods and principles used in a

methodology. It s very straightforward and to the point, just as all methodologies should be.
I, myself have revised and honed the way I apply methodology to my research over the years. It can be
a well worn process which leaves you with a feeling of immense satisfaction or it can be a nightmare
that wakes you up in the middle of the night, running for your research notes to make sure the copy of
the genealogy you sent to cousin Myrtle included notes on the exhaustive search you made on your
undesirable Uncle Willy.
To make sure I don t set myself up for a fall, I like to include a checklist for research (whether I am
doing it for myself, or a client) that I insert at the beginning of every One Name binder I am working
on. With this practice, I can keep an eye on the details, as well as the basics, which I need to
accomplish.
Here is an example of my Basic Checklist:
Do I have a clean, organized workspace? Have I compiled interviews with relatives?
Have I reviewed bibles and other old papers such as personal phone books?

The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution that occurred in the late Nineteenth Century brought many new jobs that
were drastically different to the jobs that previous Americans held. While agricultural jobs still existed
and were vitally important to the sustainability of the American economy, the new factory jobs that
opened up created many new work opportunities for Americans and immigrants who came from
Europe. However, the problem with all these new industrial jobs was that they had very poor working
conditions and the work hours were long and unfair. This along with the low wages made these jobs

decision to revise a specific chapter called Simplicity. In the year 1980, the first version of Simplicity
was created, then came 1998 followed up by 2006. In the first version, 1980, Zinsser created a long
and wordy paper. He used specific examples but included details that were unnecessary. This is ironic
because the paper is about how writers can write unnecessary words and phrases creating complicated
sentences. He was not inclusive of gender, naming men as writers and only using wives as examples
