Service Dog Therapy Essay
A therapy dog is skilled to care and offer comfort to patients in hospitals, retirement homes,
schools, catastrophe area, and people with learning complications. From a different perspective, a
service dog is an assistance dog trained specifically to help persons with disabilities including
autism, hearing and visual difficulties. The dogs aid cognitive therapyenabling the Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD) victims to expose themselves gradually to feelings and thoughts reminding
them of the past. The dogs offer comfort, affection, and companion that enable the victims to relax
triggering the sense of flashback within them. Flashback is critical in the treatment process of PTSD.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, on free will and comfort, offers the dogs to serve as a
companion to the PTSD victims. The department allows the dogs to serve the purpose of the
grooming and training. According to Shubert (2012), the dogs initially did not receive any
special training, and there existed no program concerning the dogs care. People used dogs as a
source of fun helping individuals to reduce stress. The dogs also assist in executing and taking
orders after a period of sufficient training (Shubert, 2012). The dogs act as a source of security in

Ethics Of Care Ethics Paper
In 2013, Swift stated a clear majority of Americans (58%) say the drug should be legalized (1).
Within the past three years this number has increased. The Ethics of Care is related to this
concept because it has to do with taking a look at what is right and wrong. This system also takes
a look at equality within all. The development to sanction weed reflects the generally late
accomplishment of the development to legitimize gay marriage, which voters have likewise
endorsed now in 14 states. Open support for gay marriage, which Americans additionally
overwhelmingly restricted before, has expanded significantly, achieving larger part bolster in the
most recent two years. The idea of legalizing marijuana is dependent on a person s age in most

The Ethics of Care stands for an attempt to change moral intelligent talk from the usual focus on
justice rights, and fairness, to another system that merges clearly feminine qualities for example
focusing too much on relationships, kindness, and the communication between and those for
who they take care of. John Tronto argues that the definition of the term ethics of care is
confusing due in part to the lack of a central role it plays in moral. He argues that moral is
engaged with human goodness, then care would appear to assume a big role in this type of way
of thinking. However, this is not the case and Tronto further stresses the association between care
and naturalness . The last thing just mentioned term refers to the socially and culturally built roles
where care is mainly assumed to be the role of the woman. So, care loses the power to take a
central role in moral

Research Paper On Arthur Eddington
Arthur S. Eddington was an English astronomer, born on Dec. 28, 1882, at Kendal, United
Kingdom. His father Arthur Henry Eddington was a school teacher, died when Eddington was
just two years old. His family had to move to Weston, where he was raised. From 1893 to 1898,
Arthur Eddington had attended Brynmelyn School, where Eddington quickly distinguished
himself, mainly in mathematics and English literature. As a child Eddington was very
intelligent, and by his own account had mastered the multiplication table before he could read.
He received his bachelor s degree in 1902 from Owens College, Manchester, and later he
immediately proceeded to Trinity College, Cambridge. At Cambridge Eddington placed first in
the mathematical examination in his second year, for him it was an unprecedented achievement.
According to NY Times, In 1905 he took his bachelor s degree from Cambridge University; in
1907 he became Smith s Prize winner and was elected a fellow of Trinity College; and in 1909 he
obtained his master s degree. Aside from being an astronomer, he was also a physicist, and a

Empty Road Spaces
Of the different road spaces around your truck, the space in front of you is the most important.
If you ever get into an accident, it will likely be with something in your direction of travel. While
it s true that you want to maintain empty space to the sides of your rig whenever possible, you
must always allow plenty of empty road space in front. That one time when you re following too
closely because you re behind your delivery schedule, may be the time when that car in front hits
its brakes too hard for you to avoid a collision.
Remember that unlike you, people driving small vehicles don t understand that large trucks can t
brake as rapidly as they. The car in front will not take your stopping distance into account when
they brake. It is

The Industrial Revolution And The French Revolution
The Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution are both integral parts of European history.
Taking place during the late eighteenth century, each molded different parts of Europe and had
different social ramifications. The Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700 s and was the
beginning of new innovations along with manufacturing processes. The French Revolution began
during the year 1789, with two sides of the population fighting either for or against the monarchy.
The French Revolution ended ten years later during the year 1799 with the French overthrowing the
monarchy and starting their own form of government. While both revolutions have had a huge
impact on modern day Europe, the innovations along with the social changes that occurred during
the Industrial Revolutionmake it more significant than the French Revolution. Before the
Industrial Revolution, Britain was comprised of rural areas where most of the population resided.
A lot of their time revolved around agriculture as a means of survival and as a way to make an
income. They also built and produced most of their clothing, furniture and homes with machines
that were simple and small tools. As time went by, people came up with different ideas and
changed the methods in which they were able to produce agriculture. This led to an increase in
food production which was steadily available to the population that was rising and working
factories. These events would become apart of what would start the Industrial

How Black Is Black In Shakespeare s Othello
In othello there is a obvious difference in the way how black s AKA moor s are treated in the
play. Everything that happens in the play revolves around othello and the simple fact that he is
black. This has an effect on a lot of Othello s conflicts with people in the play such as him having
conflict with Desdemona s father because he is black.
In Othello everyone makes the fact that Othello is black AKA a moor. Shakespeare doesn t aim
to make the fact that he is black the main point in his play but it is a very important part and key
detail in the play.the fact that he is black can mean one of two things; 1.) othello is the victim int
all of the play or 2.) othello is the one in the wrong or out of his place in society. Shakespeare
made him different because it gives the plot more to work with and it can give man readers

Male Victims Of Female Victims
VICTIM BLAMING As stated above, one reason males being raped by females is not commonly
known is because victims blame themselves. Male victims of rape, like female victims, are likely
to be blamed by others for their own rape (Anderson, 2004). When victims blame themselves
multiple questions run through their mind to where in the end they blame themselves for the
action occurring and not want to tell anyone due to fear of embarrassment. Due to stereotypes,
multiple studies have shown that male victims of rape are being blame for their assault. Male
victims tend to be blamed more than female victims on behavior blame measures, due to societal
stereotypes that a man should be able to defend for themselves (Davies and Rogers, 2006).
However, women are not expected to be able to defend for themselves. While male victims are
held responsible for the rape on account of their behavior during the attack, female victims are
attributed more blame on account of their internal characteristics (Doherty and Anderson, 2004).
Stating that males are blamed for not being masculine enough to fight off their attacker and
females are blamed for putting themselves in that situation when they should have been safer. The
fact that males can be victims of rape challenges may beliefs about men s masculinity. Males that
identify as homosexual are judged to be more at fault than males that identify as heterosexual
(Davis and Rogers, 2006). Homosexual males are seen as violating genderrole

Biography Of Frederick Douglas s Role Models For Business...
Success is, in many ways, a branch of perspective, and yet societal norms seem to dictate what
many view as success. Through my personal experience, and through the reading of Frederick
Douglas I believe that the idea of personal success in correlation with perspective is a subject
worthy of debate. Dissecting the difference of what many view as success and what may
actually be success is essential for growth personally, and for people collectively. For example;
currently many in our society view success as the acquisition of a copious monetary status,
usually preceded, or followed by recognition for actions, ideas, etc... whether or not one views
these actions or ideas worthy of widespread recognition(IE, success of socialites who may have
not actually contributed to their own success). Many would believe that figures such as Paris
Hilton, and Kim Kardashian, who are viewed as successful women, are successful based on who
they are, instead of what they ve done, while others believe these women are role models for
business and personal marketing in the 21st century. I myself believe that success is not based
on how any group views you, but on how you view yourself, and measure your own success;
based on where you started in life, your goals, and your level of pride in your actions. It is my
sentiment that we should discuss the topic of what success means to the individual, and not to the
collective. A discussion of this perspective, I subscribe would allow for all people to

Essay on Group Interaction in The Wu Tang Clan
Group Interaction in The Wu Tang Clan The Wu Tang clan is a nine member hip hop group that
formed in 1992. Since 1992 the group has gone on to find success as a group and as solo artist.
The Wu Tang Clan is easily one of the most influential hip hop groups of all time. The group has
taken aspects from every area such as kung fu to religion and blended them into a unique brand of
music that is many times imitated but never duplicated. What makes the group able to blend such
a wide varity of topics into its music is the diversity and ability of its members. The group consists
of the Rza, Genius, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, U God, Old Dirty Bastard, Masta Killah,

Socioemotional tasks are much more interpersonal. For example if a member of the group is
unsure about something on a solo album another member will come in and give feedback to that
other member. Furthermore, if one member is having legal problems other members of the
group will step in and lend emotional support to help the other through a tough time. Another
quality that makes the Wu Tang Clan a group is group cohesion. Group cohesion is the strength
of the bonds linking members to one another and to the group. The Wu Tang Clan is a very
cohesive group, on both the individual and group level. On the individual level all members
have a great deal of respect, trust, and liking for each other. This is evident by the fact that all
members always have other members from the group come and appear on their solo albums.
The group is very cohesive on the group level for the fact that after years and years of being
together the group has never lost a member and no member has ever swayed from the Wu Tang
Clan principle United we stand, divide we fall . The group realizes that together they are one.
Group Formation The reason why the Wu Tang Clan formed was out of survival. It may sound
strange but its true. Before the group formed all of the members of the group were struggling to
stay afloat in life. The Rza and the Genius were broke, Raekwon was selling drugs, Ghost

Emma Gonzalez used to be a normal senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in

There was a mass shooting at her school by a former student on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

Not because we re going to be another statistic about the mass shooting in America, but because we

Besides, another part that I like about the speech is when Gonzalez is not only furious at the
shooter but also all the people that live with him, see him express his homicidal tendencies but
just ignore, or who see him buy the guns, go outside, head to school and do nothing about this.
The way she blames all those people is seen as a rationalization. She gives out a clear explanation
before justifying with logical and plausible reasons.
She let people see how strongly and passionately she wants to end gun violence throughout the
speech. The crowd at the rally also totally supports all intense arguments that she made. They clap
their hands, repeat her words and shout out loud their agreement.
To summarize, after her viral rally, there is almost nothing that can catch the nation from paying
attention to the Parkland tragedy at this moment. Some celebrities and media outlets have amplified
her speech and that helps to raise the chances of prevention. She is determined never to lose
momentum in her fight for a stand against gun violence and stricter gun

Effiecieny of Islamic Banking in Malaysia
Efficiency of Islamic Banks in Malaysia

ABSTRACT
IN RECENT YEARS, MALAYSIAN ISLAMIC BANKS HAVE TO OPERATE IN AN
INCREASINGLY COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT. THIS TREND IS EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE AS THE COMPETITION FROM CONVENTIONAL BANKS PICKS UP, PARTLY
IN RESPONSE TO THE ASEAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT (AFTA), BUT ALSO IN
RESPONSE TO THE GENERAL GLOBALIZATION OF MARKETS. HOW ISLAMIC BANKS
WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE INCREASED COMPETITIVE PRESSURES DEPENDS IN
PART ON HOW EFFICIENTLY THEY ARE RUN. THIS PAPER EXAMINES THE

Total deposits in the Islamic banking system amounted to RM47 billion (9.5 percent) compared to
RM495 billion total deposits in the entire system (Abdul Kader, 2002).
The gale of economic liberalization currently sweeping across the globe provides another reason
for looking into the efficiency of Islamic banks since it poses a further competitive challenge to
the Islamic banking institutions. It is expected that by the year 2007, trade liberalization will
require Malaysian domestic banks to compete with other global players on an equal playing field.
Such a change implies that local Islamic banking institutions will have to be efficient, innovative,
competitive and resilient players in the market. This is particularly important since foreign banks
that are arguably more efficient may also offer Islamic banking products to take advantage of brisk
demand for Islamic banking products.
The policy relevance of this study can be viewed from the target set by the Malaysian central bank
(Bank Negara Malaysia) for the Islamic banking institutions to command a 20 percent market share
by year 2010 as outlined in its financial sector master plan. How the increased competition expected
in the future affects Islamic banks partly depends on how efficient the banks

Essay On Women And African American History
To many people, America s history may appear to be a series of events shaped by the decisions and
actions of white men. However, this perspective fails to recognize the tremendous impacts that
minority groups had, have, and will have in shaping and influencing America s past, present, and
future. The Revolutionary War is an example of how women and African Americans played an
important role in critical events in American history. In the Revolutionary War, Americans fought
for freedom and independence from Britain, leading to the birth of our nation. Without the
contributions of women and African Americans, the Revolutionary War may not have been
successful, and American history may have followed a very different course. During the
Revolutionary War, the Patriot soldiers fighting for freedom needed help in many ways to support
their mission on and beyond the battleground. Women supported the Patriots in unique and
important ways. Document 1 contains an agreement that the Edenton Ladies Patriotic Guild
signed on October 27, 1774. It states, The provincial deputies of North Carolina having resolved
not to drink any more tea nor wear any more British cloth, etc. The Edenton Ladies agreement to

Spider Monkeys Lab Report
Color Vision in Spider Monkeys
Objective:
To determine the color vision abilities of four individual spider monkeys (Ateles geoffroyi).
Certain New World monkeys, such as spider monkeys, vary in the types of color they can see.
Furthermore, the color vision abilities of these monkeys vary among individuals due to the
differing genetics of males, who have dichromatic vision and certain females who have
trichromatic vision similar to humans (Regan et al., 2005). Additionally, only one behavioral
study has been conducted with spider monkeys to test their color vision abilities (Ateles fusciceps
and Ateles belzebuth; Blakeslee Jacobs, 1982). However, with a sample size of only two spider
monkeys who were a different species than the spider monkeys housed at the zoo, this research
should be reinvestigated. Ultimately, the implications of the study will give us more insight into
spider monkey color vision and increase opportunities for improved environmental enrichment for
animals based on their individual color abilities.

They call it the lottery, but this isn t just any lottery! The Lottery, a short story by Shirley Jackson,
is about a town in the 1950s. The townspeople have a tradition that they call the lottery, which is
actually a sacrificial stoning. They have this tradition because they are crazy and they think that it
helps the crops grow; without it there would be no food. In The Lottery, Shirley Jacksonuses
foreshadowing to add to the shock factor of the terrible ending. In the beginning of the story, the
author uses brief foreshadowing when she describes boys gathering rocks while other people
gather in the townsquare for the lottery. The author writes, Bobby [Martin] and Harry Jones and

Suleiman the Magnificent
Suleiman the Magnificent
The Ottoman Empire was an empire lasting from 1299 to 1923. Osman was leading the small
Ottoman Empire in 1299 in western Anatolia and he was slowly extending his settlements away
from his Muslim neighbors. It was not allowed for Muslims to kill other Muslims. He had a
number of soldiers called the Ghazis who were brave, loyal and fearless. These solders helped
Osman tread into unknown land and spread his rule. Osman s name was becoming more known
and after his death, people called him courageous strong and great. This is where the centuries old
Turkish saying comes from: May he be as good as Osman. After a few centuries the Ottoman
Empire was flourishing, it spanned 3 continents and contained 29 provinces. ... Show more content

If an enemy doesn t strike from outside, an enemy may strike from inside. A civil war can cause
many deaths and disrupt the focus of any leader. Suleiman would have to put all of his attention
to people fighting inside his nation instead of focusing on incoming attacks from the outside. A
lot of empires have fallen due to internal attacks. Interaction with other sectors was not too often
which helps people be in an environment where everyone follows the same religion. There is
also almost no interference from the government on how the leader chooses to run the Millets.
Things like taxes and sometimes even laws aren t checked by the government because there aren
t any rules against having different styles of living. Travelers from different religious
backgrounds can now enter a land where they don t have to be feared of not being able to walk
in and get hurt because of their differences. This encourages travelers, who are usually traders to
come to this culturally diverse and peaceful land to trade their goods, instead of going to Europe
where only one religion was accepted: Christianity. Suleiman put out the laws on streets so that all
could read and understand what is allowed and what is not. This was important because now
everyone knew the difference between right and wrong. This also prevented officials from making
fake or arbitrary laws. The Millet system and publicly

Anne Bradstreet
Anne Bradstreet poem The Prologue was an interesting poem. This is one of her most
intellectually poems she has written. I like this poem by Bradstreet because it shows off her
work as a writer and poet. The theme in the poem The Prologue is global and historical context
that covers feminisms, Christianity, and psychology. I like how she writes about feminisms and
her showing that even though she is a female, she can write poems like men do. Her use of meter
and rhyme is nearly perfect and it shows the simple truth she puts in her pieces. Also she showed
her true feelings and it helps readers understand what she is feeling and saying in her work. Another
poem that Bradstreet wrote that I like is Contemplations. This poem was a great use

Auditor Independence Essay
Abstract. The article reviewed was Role of Independence in Ethics for SMP Accountants. The key
of the abstract is to emphasize the strength of ethics and moral behavior while conducting the audit
(pp. 305 306).
Introduction. The author studied professional ethics and auditor independence at small and
medium firms. The researcher compared ethics with values, and laid emphasis on the credibility as
one of the most important ethics element (p. 306). The concept of auditor independence and ethics
has significantly changed for the last century. There was a drastic move toward the neutrality in
reporting. The main objective of research is to analyze two terms independence of mind and
independence in appearance; and examine perceptions of independent auditors (pp. 307 308). The
study is important because it investigates professional ethics as the key of quality assurance
services. The researcher considered two problems of the study: shifts in regulations affect the
auditors behavior, and changes in settings and culture of businesses (p. 305).
Literature Review. The author used a systematic review of literature in the research. The researcher
examined studies of Gill and Cosseral (1996), The Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, and
Guidance Note on Independence of Auditors to analyze the word independence in depth. The
author stated that the term might bring a lot of confusion (p. 307). The term should emphasize that
the professional is free from financial relationships.

Freud s Views on Forgetting a Proper Name and Dream Analysis
In several of his books, including Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis and On Dreams, Freud
combines the topics of forgetting a proper name and dream analysis, formulating a thesis that
helps to clarify his theories on both. He describes in psychoanalytic terms the mechanisms behind
forgetting of a proper name and how they relate to the methods used in dream analysis. By looking
at the two topics from a joint perspective, we can gain a greater understanding of them and how
they relate to other areas of psychoanalysis. The tendency toward forgetting of a proper name is an
important theme in Freud s work. He explained the way in which forgetting something like a name

#8230; (ILp 35 36) It is in this line that understanding the preconscious becomes important.
Preconscious describes a division of the mind that falls in between repression (unconscious) and
recognition (conscious). Freud described thoughts in the preconscious as having crossed the
threshold from the unconscious mind, but not yet having caught the eye of consciousness (IL p366).
The preconscious is an important element in the dynamic between an individual s conscious
intention and their counter will, because it falls somewhere in the middle and may be the most
manifested part of the phenomenon. For instance, when a proper name is forgotten, this is a
function of repression. The individual unconsciously wants to forget one thing, but the counter will
resists by forgetting another. It is when a name is on the tip of the tongue but still unclear that
countless other irrelevant names will come to mind; these irrelevant names are the inhabitants of
the preconscious. The case detailed in The Psychopathology of Everyday Life, in which Freud
discusses his own experience with the forgetting of a proper name, is a good example of a clear
analysis of the mechanism Freud saw behind this phenomenon. He explains the situation, and will
later go on to fully analyze its significance:
The name that

Do You Ever Stop And Think About How Much Of Your Life Is...
Do you ever stop and think about how much of your life is actually yours? How many days of your
life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the average American s working life.
Most people start full time work at 22 years old and retire at 66. They work all day during the week
and usually are too tired after work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the
weekend x 52 weeks a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This
comes out to 123 days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this
equates to 5,412 days where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in a year is
approximately 15 years. 15 out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most people, you probably
answer work emails on the weekends and are always connected. So that number of 15 years is
even lower. Does this sound good to anyone? (Pepper)
When I first read those numbers, it was a complete eye opener. It is absolutely unbelievable that
so much of our lives are spent away from our families and the things we love doing. What is
even more unbelievable is that spending so much time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century.
200 years ago when one had to farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday
made sense. But now? We have the technology to do many of the menial tasks that used to burden
us. Not only is the long work week unnecessary, it is damaging to our health and our

is divided into 308 electoral districts. An electoral district is a geographical area represented by

one MP who sits in the House of Commons to represent them, as well as all Canadians. After an
election, the leader of the political party with the most seats in the House of Commons will form
the majority government. That leader of this party becomes the Prime Minister. If the party in
power holds at least half of the seats in the House of Commons, this is called a majority
government. The Prime Minister and the party in power run the government as long as they have
the support of the majority of the MPs. The Prime Minister chooses the ministers, most of them
from among members of the House of Commons. Cabinet ministers are responsible for running the
federal government departments. The Prime Minister and the Cabinet ministers are called the
Cabinet and they make important decisions about how the country is governed. They prepare the

Egoism And Ethical Egoism
Egoism is the idea of self interest. It elicits what controls, and give the ambitions our self interest.
When philosophers carefully observed egoism. Their thesis of egoism voiced that our intuition
controls what we do and there is two form of self interest. We have descriptive which they think
temporarily that people s drives instantaneous aspiration. The normative way is where our self
interest is developed based on experience and power. Theories of egoismalso study the intentions
behind our actions. For example, do we act for love, religion, or wealth? Who benefits from our
actions, is it the individual or the whole of society? Two theories exist that try to answer these
questions, namely the theories of Ethical Egoismand Psychological Egoism.
Ethical Egoism is the normative theory that our self concept should not be viewed as solitary
but instead as part of society. In this respect, our actions should also be for the benefit of society.
Ethical Egoism isn t about self deprivation, but rather about helping yourself by helping others as
well. It relies not just on improving one s self but also on improving the structure of society. The
strong version of Ethical Egoism states that everything we do for our own good is moral and
must always be promoted. The weak version states that although acting for one s own good is
usually for the good of society on the whole, there may be conditions in which personal desires
have to be suppressed in order to maintain social morality. The weak version integrates the
individual into society in such a way that he or she must be willing to make sacrifices for the
benefit of others.
In contradiction to Ethical Egoism, Psychological Egoism presents itself as a much different
perspective altogether. Psychological Egoism is the descriptive variant that states all human
actions to be the result of selfishness. The core of this theory focuses on a different definition of
self concept or ego. However, there are many identifiable fallacies of Psychological Egoism. Firstly,
the theory is based on intangible terminologies of the inner self that cannot be physically examined.
Furthermore, when we do try to study Psychological Egoism in terms of scientific observations
such as human

Theories And Ideas In Bowenian Therapy
As a Christian studying the nature of people, thoughts, and behaviors, it is inevitable for personal
faith to strongly intertwine with the principles, theories, and ideas psychology presents. An
important piece for understanding individuals is found in examining their family dynamics, coping
skills, and familypatterns. Bowenian therapy embodies how humans predictably function in
relationships. Similar to the Bible and its instructions, which advises people how to conduct one s
self in fellowship and kinship with others. However, the Bible does not entirely explain how people
are emotionally affected by the fallen human relationship (Brown, n.d.). The Bible provides
evidence of the ultimate cause of disharmony and Bowen s theory provides a thorough explanation

This could be possible from transgenerational issues, or imposition from a family s projection
process. The Bible tells us that the sins of a grandfather will affect his children, and their
children, if ties and curses are not broken (Exodus 20:5, NIV). Numbers 14:18 gives a clear
account of Bowen s assumptions when it says, The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in
steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation (Numbers
14:18, ESV). However, since Christ redeemed the sins of man by dying for our sins, The son
shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The
righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be
upon himself (Ezekiel 18:20, ESV). God basically explained that He does not want to punish those
who come from disharmonized families, but He wants to save if individuals will turn away from

Nicola Sacco was born in the Italian town of Torremaggiore on 22nd April, 1891. He emigrated to
the United States when he was seventeen. Sacco found work in a shoe factory in Stoughton,
Massachusetts. He got married and started a family. Sacco also became involved in left wing
politics and at one anarchist gathering met Bartolomeo Vanzetti, an Italian immigrant working as a

made by Madeiros. Many leading writers and artists became involved in a campaign to obtain a
retrial. Although, Webster Thayer, the original judge, was officially criticised for his conduct at the
trial, the authorities refused to overrule the decision to execute the men. By the summer of 1927 it
became clear that Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti would be executed. On 23rd August 1927, the
day of execution, over 250,000 people took part in a silent demonstration in Boston. Soon after the
executions, Eugene Lyons published his book, The Life and Death of Sacco and Vanzetti. Fifty
years later, on 23rd August, 1977, Michael Dukakis, the Governor of Massachusetts, issued a
proclamation, effectively absolving the two men of the crime.
From beginning to end, Nicola Sacco had been blamed for murder. This is the world we live in. A

Theories Of Second Language Acquisition
Theories of Second Language Acquisition
The approaches to Second Language Acquisition (SLA for short) have been changing and
developing throughout the years. Since the beginning of the study of Second Language
Acquisition, the approaches and theories of SLA have ranged from the Behaviourist approach to
SLA by an American psychologist Burrhus Frederic Skinner in 1940s 1950s to Universal Grammar
approach by an American linguist Noam Chomsky in 1960 1970s to the Information Processing
Model introduced by Barry McLaughlin in 1983 (Malone 2012: 1). The field of SLA research
nowadays includes relatively new approaches such as cognitive linguistics, as well as skill
acquisition and various sociocultural theories, connectionism and many more. However, ... Show

As the Noam Chomsky s centre of interest was how a language is acquired generally, his theory
has rather been adapted to be suitable for interpreting second language (or L2) acquisition than
intended to be used directly in order to explain it (Menezes 2013: 405). According to Larsen
Freeman and Long (1991), in his works Chomsky claimed that when acquiring a language,
whether it is the first or the second, the input a person receives from the outside world through
oral communication is deficient in that it is filled with performance features, such as false starts,
slips, fragments, and ungrammaticality , as well as lacking so called negative evidence or
information which a learner needs in order to realize what is incorrect in a given language
(Larsen Freeman and Long 1991: 389). Additionally, the American linguist believed children
cannot learn a language as quickly, efficiently and effortlessly as they do without an innate
language faculty to guide them (Mitchell and Myles 2004: 55). Therefore, Chomsky introduced
the idea of a Language Acquisition Device (or LAD), an innate ability to acquire and use
language (Malone 2012: 2), along with the notion of Universal Grammar (Field 2005: 21; Malone
2012: 2). Universal Grammar (UG for short) is a theory which dictates that every human being is
born with a system of categories, mechanisms and constraints

What Does It Affect Job Stratification And Economic...
Each year, millions of babies are born into families, not yet knowing what their lives will bring.
Babies are born as male or female, as well as transgendered, bisexual, gay and lesbian. All are

born into, each and every one will face some sort of stratification and inequality based on their
society, and the way they are raised within it. Sexual orientationis just one factor of inequality in our
culture, and I will discuss here how it affects job stratification and economic placement.
Social stratification can be viewed in one of three ways, first is structural functional which is
based on a society which is rewarded for their efforts and accomplishments. This theory believes
that inequality boost economy, pushing people to work harder. Next we have social conflict
which looks at society as being divided based on resources and ownership. This theory looks at
unequal rewards as creating inequality and placing a divide in society. Weber looked at this in
terms of socioeconomic status ranking people based on their inequalities. Last is symbolic
interaction a micro level view of society which looks at ones interactions in everyday life. This
looks at the things we purchase, what we wear and the

clenching of the teeth. It can wear down and damage teeth, break restorations, cause TMJ (jaw
joint) disorders, bring on mysterious headaches, and cause facial pain. Many people who have
trouble with bruxism do not even realize they are grinding their teeth. Some people grind their
teeth at night when they are asleep. Those who clench or grind their teeth during the day often do
so when they feel anxious. In fact, one of the common causes of bruxism is stress. Other factors,
such as misaligned teeth or an improper bite, can also create discomfort. Less common causes of

How Graffiti Has Changed Over Time
Guillermo Corte
Professor Peppard
English 110 86
04 May 2015How Graffiti has Changed over Time. Graffiti is the act of inscribing or drawing on
walls for the purpose of communicating a message to the general public. The term comes from the
Greek term Graphein, which means to write. Graffiti has been around since men first started
drawing pictures in caves. However, the focus of this paper is not on pre historic or amateur
graffiti, but on the modern hip hop graffiti movement that began in the late 1960 s. The graffiti
has two versions: a legal aspect, in which artists are able to spray paintings and murals of great
spectacle and technical. The illegal side, is where they express their painting in public spaces
such as schools, metros, trains, posters, and wall Streets, etc. Graffiti are a poor choice for
people who practiced this objective because it deny people in follow good roads which is seen a
bad self expression and they also may be expensive, putting pressure on low income families.
Controversial, secrecy, and taboo are some points that connect with graffiti argument where graffiti

Essay On Native American Indian Boarding School
Starting off as a plan to assimilate and educate Native American Children, the boarding school
program resulted in the stripping of culture and native identity. The cultural deprivation process
began in 1860 when the Bureau of Indian Affairs established the first on reservation Indian
boarding school in Washington state. The main goal of both the boarding and day schools was to
assimilate Indian children into the American way of life (American Indian Council).
At the start, the schools were all on reservation, designed to make education affordable and
accessible to as many tribes as possible. This method held hopes of the children spreading
American culture to parents; however, it allowed for Indian culture to seep into the children s lives.

Attending school was required by law; therefore, the Bureau would send police to physically
confiscate children from their homes on reservations. By making attendance mandatory, the
number of savage Indians exponentially decreased. Richard H Pratt said, Kill the Indian, save
the man. This motto led to the hair of Indian boys getting cut, the banning of all tribal food,
children were no allowed to return home and any relics from home were destroyed. Lone Wolf
of the Blackfoot tribe said, Long hair was the pride of all Indians. The boys, one by one, would
break down and cry when they saw their braids thrown on the floor. All of the buckskin clothes
had to go and we had to put on the clothes of the White Man. If we thought the days were bad, the
nights were much worse. This is when the loneliness set in, for it was when we knew that we were
all alone. Many boys ran away from the school because the treatment was so bad, but most of them
were caught and brought back by the police (PBS Telecommunications). If any of the students were

Second Amendment On Bear Arms
Second Amendment: Right to Bear Arms In the second amendment we are given the right to
bear arms, but in the world we live in today people are starting to question this right. In my
opinion I believe we should have the right to bear arms, but with more restrictions than we have
today. We were first given this right when we were fighting for our independence from Great
Britain. No one ever knew when the British were coming, except Paul Revere of course, so we
were given the right to keep rifles and such in our homes for protection in these instances. On the
other hand though, we have the idea of a repeat of Shay s rebellion. The government is
becoming less and less popular as the years go on. The millennials of today believe that if they
all stand up together that something will get changed. With this years election there were so
many young people outraged at the fact that Donald Trump won. This to me sounds like a spark
of something bad. Mostly the people voting for Trump were the ones wanting to keep guns in their
homes but with the people who were upset about this they may abuse that right to start an arsenal
to rebel against the government. Another factor of why some people think we should not have
guns in our homes is because of all the public shootings that have been happening around the
nation. The second amendment was put into effect long before the time we live in today. The
purpose of the second amendment was to have a ready militia at all times for the war on

of a widow begins to spark rumors that the woman had killed her first husband. As part of the
punishment it was thought that she was being blackmailed and having an affair with the
wealthy Roger Ackroyd. A couple of days later, Roger Ackroyd is murdered and a lot of
conspiracy surrounds his death since the facts were not adding up. In the village there were a lot

He noticed that he never saw the Count eat or drink and was never home at night. One night a
strange incident occurred after he had tried to escape: three vampiric women were bent over his
bed deciding who would take the first bite. Jonathan Harker was miraculously saved when
Dracula intervened at the right time. After that, Harker began investigating more and started to
put the pieces together. He concluded that the Dracula was a vampire and that during the day he
was constricted to his humanly body while at night he transformed himself to an ominous
animal or transported himself through a box. He was able to do this because he had a set of
boxes with a special powder that at any time he could go to. Jonathan Harker narrowly escapes
one day and heads back towards Hungary for recuperation from Transylvania. Near the time that
he gets back to England, a young woman named Lucy begins to get ill and people notice that she
is losing blood. Two doctors are called in to try to cure her, but nothing is helping her heal. She
then dies and the doctors conclude that there is probably a vampire involved in her death because
of two small holes on her body. When she is ut in her tomb, they go back to make sure that she is
really dead, but she is not there. She was out at a neighboring village terrorizing things but not
harming them. They then cut off her head and drive

Native Architects And Architectures Introduced
As a Chinese immigrant who lived in the USA for four years, I have been amazed by the western
architects and architectures introduced in lectures and textbook. Buildings like Sagrada Familia,
Guggenheim Museum, Burj Al Arab, and even the White House have attracted my interested
toward architecture by bringing me endless awes and wonders. Out of so many famous and
recognizable architects who designed marvelous buildings, this special Chinese family attracts extra
attention. Maybe a highly skilled architect is honorable, but a loyal architect family who devoted
their generations to architecture deserves the respect from all architects. In the following
paragraphs, I will describe this family and their work, as well as their importance and contribution
to the history of architecture.
Yang Shi Lei , meaning the Lei style , was a name for Lei family who worked as royal architects
over 200 years of Qing dynasty. In the end of 17th century, like many artisans, Fada Lei came to
Beijing and started working to build the palaces for Qing dynasty. Due to his outstanding building
skills and different architectural style, he was prided to be the designer of many royal buildings.
He had total of seven generals at the end the Qing dynasty, and they were all responsible for
designing and building the royal buildings such as the main palaces, imperial tomb, the old
Summer Palace, the Summer Palace and so on. To commemorate Lei s family s contribution to the
Chinese architectural history,

Irony In Charles And Broken Wing

Pros And Cons Of Floodplains
A floodplain or flood plain is an area of land adjacent to a stream or river that stretches from the
banks of its channel to the base of the enclosing valley walls and experiences flooding during
periods of high discharge. Or in simple words we can say an area of low lying ground adjacent to a
river, formed mainly of riversediments and subject to flooding.
Flood plains are made by a meander eroding sideways as they travel downstream. When a river
breaks its banks and floods, it leaves behind layers of alluvium (silt). These gradually build up to
create the floor of the flood plain. Floodplains can support particularly rich ecosystems, both in
quantity and diversity.
Floodplains are where land and water meet. The two environments merge ... Show more content on

This reduces a river s discharge and so makes it less likely to flood. Afforestation also prevents
mass wasting which reduces the amount of soil entering the river and keeps the river s capacity
high. When combined with floodplain zoning, afforestation can be very effective at reducing the
risk of flooding. It creates new habitats for animals and improving water quality by filtering
pollutants out of rainwater. The issue with afforestation is that it requires quite a lot of space to be
effective and could prove unpopular among famers on the floodplain as they won t be too happy
with trees sapping nutrients from the soil. This issue can be combated somewhat by creating
riparian buffers, thin vegetated strips of land that run adjacent to a river s channel.
Wetland Restoration involves creating conditions that are favorable for the development of
wetlands (marshes or swamps). Wetlands are able to store large volumes of water which helps to
reduce the discharge in a river. Wetlands don t reduce flooding where they are located but rather
downstream of the river. They have the added benefit of creating new habitats for animals and
greatly increasing biodiversity. They reduce the area of land available for farming though which
makes them unpopular among

The Realization Of Racial Equality
The Realization of Racial Equality
In the poem Theme for my English B by Langston Hughes, a poem that demonstrates the struggle
with identity and self realization. The speaker of the poem goes through a journey from confusion
to wisdom, which expands his ideas about racial tensions and segregation. The poem also shows
how finding your identity can help you learn new things about yourself, and also about other people
that you would never have known. Langston Hughes who was one of the most prolific writers
during the 1920s and the 1950s, he was also a big contributor to both the Harlem Renaissance and
the Civil Rights Movement. Hughes poems have contributed to helping people get through racial
discrimination, segregation, and racial tensions during the 1950s.
The structure for Theme for my English B is a free verse. It also shows a lot of enjambment
throughout the poem, which is when the sentence continues to go onto the next stanza without any
sort of pause or break. The poem being a free verse relates to why the speaker is rambling his
thoughts on the paper until he has an understanding of who he actually is, also the poem showing a
lot of enjambment shows why how he is just writing his thoughts throughout the poem. In the poem
with the exception of the first five lines where the professor is giving the assignment, there is no
rhyme scheme:
Go home and write
A page tonight.
And let that page come out of you Williams
Then it will be true (line 1 4)

The Importance Of Arts Integration In Education
Arts integration is defined as the investigation of curricular content through artistic explorations. In
this process, the arts provide an avenue for rigorous investigation, representation, expression, and
reflection of both curricular content and the art form itself (as cited in Donovan Pascale, 2012, p.
14). As previously discussed, the arts are a boon to those who seek to make their curriculum design
more inclusive of all types of learners, and contributes to the social curriculum. Even beyond those
applications, arts integration can truly benefit all educators.
The arts teach a number of practical skills outside of the primary academic curriculum that teachers
are responsible for fostering. Notably, the four Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking
and creativity) of 21st century learning each work hand in hand with the arts. If we consider the
arts as modes of communication, we see that students are more clearly able to demonstrate learning,
ask questions, and connect with peers and teachers alike. The more languages a teacher can use,
the better chance he or she has to speak (and listen to) diverse students. We need many languages to
educate our children for their present and future lives (Powell, 1997, p. 5). Students who struggle
with traditional classroom languages may find themselves suddenly able to participate in a world
that was closed to them before. This is particularly important in health education, where the stakes
are immensely high and

Installation Art Analysis
Installation art is an embodied and immersive experience, which can affect the way people navigate
and experience a particular space. It has the ability to activate the viewer s mechanisms of
perception and ultimately awareness of a place. This occurs through the stimulation of the senses by
interaction or awakening one s perception through disorientation. Installation art directly presents
the elements texture, space, light and so on for us to experience. Artist works hard to express and
experiment with feelings, emotions and viewpoints through various medium that can influence and

Kusama is a conceptual artist and self proclaimed obsessive , whose daring works has been dealing
with notions of repetition. Her stunning and wildly abstract composition of dots, the Obliteration
Room is entirely covered with endless coloured dots, which is a representation of the artist s
psyche, wherein hallucinations have haunted her since childhood. She utilized ready made
materials, stickers to create her immersive installation. Kusama s ongoing obsession with repetition
creates an infinity perception of the space, which creates an illusory atmosphere that confuses the
viewer s perception and spatial orientation. The unique sensory and psychological experience
enables each viewer to momentarily get lost in Kusama s mesmerizing world. The choice of a
domestic environment with specifically local characteristics is intended to create an air of
familiarity that makes participants, especially children, comfortable to engage with the installation
with little or no prompting. Kusama really fits into art history, and she was there in late Surrealism
and the birth of Pop Art. She has a relationship to Minimalism and in the beginnings of performing
art, but she was never attached to any one movement for very long. Ultimately, we can see that
Kusama challenged the prevailing moral frameworks to engage the audience in a different

Whiplash Injury Essay
Many a times when you are involved in an automobile accident, you do not suffer from any
visible injuries. Most of the injuries are soft tissue injuries that tend to heal on their own and are
often neglected. One such soft tissue injury is the whiplash injury. Whiplash injury is a generic
term that encompasses the various types of neck sprains and strains. As majority of the injury is
to the muscles, the damage is not visible even on the x rays. Most of these injuries heal within a
specific period of time, but if the symptoms persist then it is considered as chronic pain. If you

On Euthyphro s Dilemma and Divine Command Essay examples
On Euthyphro s Dilemma and Divine Command
In Plato s Euthyphro, Socrates presents a fundamentally meta ethical problem to
Euthyphro by asking whether the pious or holy is beloved by the gods because it is holy, or holy
because it is beloved of the gods (Plato 219)? I will relate this question to the
Divine Command Theory of morality and discuss the philosophical implications associated with
each possible answer to the dilemma while demonstrating fallacies and inequalities within each.
Divine Command Theory (DCT) asserts that morality is somehow dependent upon God, and that
moral obligation consists in obedience to God s commands. Divine
Command Theory includes the claim that morality is ultimately based on the commands

Following these a priori presuppositions that God is both omnipotent and omniscient (as well as
intrinsically good), and that morality is ultimately dependent on God s commands, then it is sound
to reason that piety and moral goodness are implicit in anything God commands.
The argument may be made that my logic is circular and that to define what is morally good by
that standard is both flawed and fallacious. To this I rebut: How would I define good without
presupposing that God is the foundation of such goodness? I would argue that although I may
have to have a map to know where Dallas is, Dallas still has to exist prior to the map. Following
that logic, God s goodness would exist prior to the existence of finite, derived goodnesses, though
conceptually or epistemologically... (Moreland
90).
The first horn proposed to Euthyphro Are morally good acts commanded by god because they are
morally good, raises the question that if acts are commanded by God because they are morally
good, then there must be some independent force outside of
God governing what is good and what is not. If there is an independent force governingZellner 3
this then God s will becomes arbitrary. Martin Luther adamantly argues against the possibility of
this,
For it is not because he is or was obliged so to will that what he wills is right, but on the contrary,
because he himself so wills, therefore what happens must be right. Cause and reason

The Ethics of Care stands for an attempt to change moral intelligent talk from the usual focus on justice rights, and fairness, to another system that merges clearly feminine qualities for example focusing too much on relationships, kindness, and the communication between and those for who they take care of. John Tronto argues that the definition of the term ethics of care is confusing due in part to the lack of a central role it plays in moral. He argues that moral is engaged with human goodness, then care would appear to assume a big role in this type of way of thinking. However, this is not the case and Tronto further stresses the association between care and naturalness . • 7. The Industrial Revolution And The French Revolution The Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution are both integral parts of European history. Taking place during the late eighteenth century, each molded different parts of Europe and had different social ramifications. The Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700 s and was the beginning of new innovations along with manufacturing processes. The French Revolution began during the year 1789, with two sides of the population fighting either for or against the monarchy. The French Revolution ended ten years later during the year 1799 with the French overthrowing the monarchy and starting their own form of government. While both revolutions have had a huge impact on modern day Europe, the innovations along with the social changes that occurred during the Industrial Revolutionmake it more significant than the French Revolution. Before the Industrial Revolution, Britain was comprised of rural areas where most of the population resided. A lot of their time revolved around agriculture as a means of survival and as a way to make an income. They also built and produced most of their clothing, furniture and homes with machines that were simple and small tools. As time went by, people came up with different ideas and changed the methods in which they were able to produce agriculture. This led to an increase in food production which was steadily available to the population that was rising and working factories. These events would become apart of what would start the Industrial ... In Othello everyone makes the fact that Othello is black AKA a moor. Shakespeare doesn t aim to make the fact that he is black the main point in his play but it is a very important part and key detail in the play.the fact that he is black can mean one of two things; 1.) othello is the victim int all of the play or 2.) othello is the one in the wrong or out of his place in society. • 12. Male Victims Of Female Victims VICTIM BLAMING As stated above, one reason males being raped by females is not commonly known is because victims blame themselves. Male victims of rape, like female victims, are likely to be blamed by others for their own rape (Anderson, 2004). When victims blame themselves multiple questions run through their mind to where in the end they blame themselves for the action occurring and not want to tell anyone due to fear of embarrassment. Due to stereotypes, multiple studies have shown that male victims of rape are being blame for their assault. Male victims tend to be blamed more than female victims on behavior blame measures, due to societal stereotypes that a man should be able to defend for themselves (Davies and Rogers, 2006). However, women are not expected to be able to defend for themselves. While male victims are held responsible for the rape on account of their behavior during the attack, female victims are attributed more blame on account of their internal characteristics (Doherty and Anderson, 2004). Stating that males are blamed for not being masculine enough to fight off their attacker and females are blamed for putting themselves in that situation when they should have been safer. • 13. Biography Of Frederick Douglas s Role Models For Business... Success is, in many ways, a branch of perspective, and yet societal norms seem to dictate what many view as success. Through my personal experience, and through the reading of Frederick Douglas I believe that the idea of personal success in correlation with perspective is a subject worthy of debate. Dissecting the difference of what many view as success and what may actually be success is essential for growth personally, and for people collectively. For example; currently many in our society view success as the acquisition of a copious monetary status, usually preceded, or followed by recognition for actions, ideas, etc... whether or not one views these actions or ideas worthy of widespread recognition(IE, success of socialites who may have not actually contributed to their own success). Many would believe that figures such as Paris Hilton, and Kim Kardashian, who are viewed as successful women, are successful based on who they are, instead of what they ve done, while others believe these women are role models for business and personal marketing in the 21st century. I myself believe that success is not based on how any group views you, but on how you view yourself, and measure your own success; based on where you started in life, your goals, and your level of pride in your actions. It is my sentiment that we should discuss the topic of what success means to the individual, and not to the collective. A discussion of this perspective, I subscribe would allow for all people to ... The group has taken aspects from every area such as kung fu to religion and blended them into a unique brand of music that is many times imitated but never duplicated. What makes the group able to blend such a wide varity of topics into its music is the diversity and ability of its members. Another quality that makes the Wu Tang Clan a group is group cohesion. Group cohesion is the strength of the bonds linking members to one another and to the group. The Wu Tang Clan is a very cohesive group, on both the individual and group level. On the individual level all members have a great deal of respect, trust, and liking for each other. This is evident by the fact that all members always have other members from the group come and appear on their solo albums. The group is very cohesive on the group level for the fact that after years and years of being together the group has never lost a member and no member has ever swayed from the Wu Tang Clan principle United we stand, divide we fall . The group realizes that together they are one. Group Formation The reason why the Wu Tang Clan formed was out of survival. It may sound strange but its true. The way she blames all those people is seen as a rationalization. She gives out a clear explanation before justifying with logical and plausible reasons. She let people see how strongly and passionately she wants to end gun violence throughout the speech. The crowd at the rally also totally supports all intense arguments that she made. THIS TREND IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE AS THE COMPETITION FROM CONVENTIONAL BANKS PICKS UP, PARTLY IN RESPONSE TO THE ASEAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT (AFTA), BUT ALSO IN RESPONSE TO THE GENERAL GLOBALIZATION OF MARKETS. HOW ISLAMIC BANKS WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE INCREASED COMPETITIVE PRESSURES DEPENDS IN PART ON HOW EFFICIENTLY THEY ARE RUN. Total deposits in the Islamic banking system amounted to RM47 billion (9.5 percent) compared to RM495 billion total deposits in the entire system (Abdul Kader, 2002). The gale of economic liberalization currently sweeping across the globe provides another reason for looking into the efficiency of Islamic banks since it poses a further competitive challenge to the Islamic banking institutions. It is expected that by the year 2007, trade liberalization will require Malaysian domestic banks to compete with other global players on an equal playing field. Such a change implies that local Islamic banking institutions will have to be efficient, innovative, competitive and resilient players in the market. This is particularly important since foreign banks that are arguably more efficient may also offer Islamic banking products to take advantage of brisk demand for Islamic banking products. The policy relevance of this study can be viewed from the target set by the Malaysian central bank (Bank Negara Malaysia) for the Islamic banking institutions to command a 20 percent market share by year 2010 as outlined in its financial sector master plan. How the increased competition expected in the future affects Islamic banks partly depends on how efficient the banks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Essay On Women And African American History To many people, America s history may appear to be a series of events shaped by the decisions and actions of white men. However, this perspective fails to recognize the tremendous impacts that minority groups had, have, and will have in shaping and influencing America s past, present, and future. The Revolutionary War is an example of how women and African Americans played an important role in critical events in American history. In the Revolutionary War, Americans fought for freedom and independence from Britain, leading to the birth of our nation. Without the contributions of women and African Americans, the Revolutionary War may not have been successful, and American history may have followed a very different course. During the Revolutionary War, the Patriot soldiers fighting for freedom needed help in many ways to support their mission on and beyond the battleground. Women supported the Patriots in unique and important ways. Document 1 contains an agreement that the Edenton Ladies Patriotic Guild signed on October 27, 1774. It states, The provincial deputies of North Carolina having resolved not to drink any more tea nor wear any more British cloth, etc. The Edenton Ladies agreement to not buy or use any British goods offered a form of economic pressure, and strengthened the ability of America to try to break away from the British rule. Certain New World monkeys, such as spider monkeys, vary in the types of color they can see. Furthermore, the color vision abilities of these monkeys vary among individuals due to the differing genetics of males, who have dichromatic vision and certain females who have trichromatic vision similar to humans (Regan et al., 2005). Additionally, only one behavioral study has been conducted with spider monkeys to test their color vision abilities (Ateles fusciceps and Ateles belzebuth; Blakeslee Jacobs, 1982). However, with a sample size of only two spider monkeys who were a different species than the spider monkeys housed at the zoo, this research should be reinvestigated. The author studied professional ethics and auditor independence at small and medium firms. The researcher compared ethics with values, and laid emphasis on the credibility as one of the most important ethics element (p. 306). The concept of auditor independence and ethics has significantly changed for the last century. There was a drastic move toward the neutrality in reporting. The main objective of research is to analyze two terms independence of mind and independence in appearance; and examine perceptions of independent auditors (pp. 307 308). The study is important because it investigates professional ethics as the key of quality assurance services. The researcher considered two problems of the study: shifts in regulations affect the auditors behavior, and changes in settings and culture of businesses (p. 305). Literature Review. The author used a systematic review of literature in the research. The researcher examined studies of Gill and Cosseral (1996), The Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, and Guidance Note on Independence of Auditors to analyze the word independence in depth. The author stated that the term might bring a lot of confusion (p. 307). The term should emphasize that the professional is free from financial relationships. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Or again: there are cases in which the parapraxes multiply, form chains, and replace one another #8230; (ILp 35 36) It is in this line that understanding the preconscious becomes important. Preconscious describes a division of the mind that falls in between repression (unconscious) and recognition (conscious). Freud described thoughts in the preconscious as having crossed the threshold from the unconscious mind, but not yet having caught the eye of consciousness (IL p366). The preconscious is an important element in the dynamic between an individual s conscious intention and their counter will, because it falls somewhere in the middle and may be the most manifested part of the phenomenon. For instance, when a proper name is forgotten, this is a function of repression. The individual unconsciously wants to forget one thing, but the counter will resists by forgetting another. It is when a name is on the tip of the tongue but still unclear that countless other irrelevant names will come to mind; these irrelevant names are the inhabitants of the preconscious. The case detailed in The Psychopathology of Everyday Life, in which Freud discusses his own experience with the forgetting of a proper name, is a good example of a clear analysis of the mechanism Freud saw behind this phenomenon. He explains the situation, and will later go on to fully analyze its significance: The name that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How many days of your life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the average American s working life. Most people start full time work at 22 years old and retire at 66. They work all day during the week and usually are too tired after work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the weekend x 52 weeks a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This comes out to 123 days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this equates to 5,412 days where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in a year is approximately 15 years. 15 out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most people, you probably answer work emails on the weekends and are always connected. So that number of 15 years is even lower. Does this sound good to anyone? What is even more unbelievable is that spending so much time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century. 200 years ago when one had to farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday made sense. • 33. Egoism And Ethical Egoism Egoism is the idea of self interest. It elicits what controls, and give the ambitions our self interest. When philosophers carefully observed egoism. Their thesis of egoism voiced that our intuition controls what we do and there is two form of self interest. We have descriptive which they think temporarily that people s drives instantaneous aspiration. The normative way is where our self interest is developed based on experience and power. Theories of egoismalso study the intentions behind our actions. For example, do we act for love, religion, or wealth? Who benefits from our actions, is it the individual or the whole of society? Two theories exist that try to answer these questions, namely the theories of Ethical Egoismand Psychological Egoism. Ethical Egoism is the normative theory that our self concept should not be viewed as solitary but instead as part of society. In this respect, our actions should also be for the benefit of society. Ethical Egoism isn t about self deprivation, but rather about helping yourself by helping others as well. It relies not just on improving one s self but also on improving the structure of society. The strong version of Ethical Egoism states that everything we do for our own good is moral and must always be promoted. The weak version states that although acting for one s own good is usually for the good of society on the whole, there may be conditions in which personal desires have to be suppressed in order to maintain social morality. The weak version integrates the individual into society in such a way that he or she must be willing to make sacrifices for the benefit of others. In contradiction to Ethical Egoism, Psychological Egoism presents itself as a much different perspective altogether. Psychological Egoism is the descriptive variant that states all human actions to be the result of selfishness. The core of this theory focuses on a different definition of self concept or ego. However, there are many identifiable fallacies of Psychological Egoism. Firstly, the theory is based on intangible terminologies of the inner self that cannot be physically examined. As the Noam Chomsky s centre of interest was how a language is acquired generally, his theory has rather been adapted to be suitable for interpreting second language (or L2) acquisition than intended to be used directly in order to explain it (Menezes 2013: 405). According to Larsen Freeman and Long (1991), in his works Chomsky claimed that when acquiring a language, whether it is the first or the second, the input a person receives from the outside world through oral communication is deficient in that it is filled with performance features, such as false starts, slips, fragments, and ungrammaticality , as well as lacking so called negative evidence or information which a learner needs in order to realize what is incorrect in a given language (Larsen Freeman and Long 1991: 389). Additionally, the American linguist believed children cannot learn a language as quickly, efficiently and effortlessly as they do without an innate language faculty to guide them (Mitchell and Myles 2004: 55). Therefore, Chomsky introduced the idea of a Language Acquisition Device (or LAD), an innate ability to acquire and use language (Malone 2012: 2), along with the notion of Universal Grammar (Field 2005: 21; Malone 2012: 2). Sexual orientationis just one factor of inequality in our culture, and I will discuss here how it affects job stratification and economic placement. Social stratification can be viewed in one of three ways, first is structural functional which is based on a society which is rewarded for their efforts and accomplishments. This theory believes that inequality boost economy, pushing people to work harder. Next we have social conflict which looks at society as being divided based on resources and ownership. • 41. Essay On Native American Indian Boarding School Starting off as a plan to assimilate and educate Native American Children, the boarding school program resulted in the stripping of culture and native identity. The cultural deprivation process began in 1860 when the Bureau of Indian Affairs established the first on reservation Indian boarding school in Washington state. The main goal of both the boarding and day schools was to assimilate Indian children into the American way of life (American Indian Council). At the start, the schools were all on reservation, designed to make education affordable and accessible to as many tribes as possible. This method held hopes of the children spreading American culture to parents; however, it allowed for Indian culture to seep into the children s lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Attending school was required by law; therefore, the Bureau would send police to physically confiscate children from their homes on reservations. By making attendance mandatory, the number of savage Indians exponentially decreased. Richard H Pratt said, Kill the Indian, save the man. This motto led to the hair of Indian boys getting cut, the banning of all tribal food, children were no allowed to return home and any relics from home were destroyed. Lone Wolf of the Blackfoot tribe said, Long hair was the pride of all Indians. The boys, one by one, would break down and cry when they saw their braids thrown on the floor. All of the buckskin clothes had to go and we had to put on the clothes of the White Man. If we thought the days were bad, the nights were much worse. This is when the loneliness set in, for it was when we knew that we were all alone. Many boys ran away from the school because the treatment was so bad, but most of them were caught and brought back by the police (PBS Telecommunications). If any of the students were non compliant with the policies, punishment consisted confinement, deprivation of privileges, a threat of corporal punishment or a restriction of diet (PBS ... • 42. Second Amendment On Bear Arms Second Amendment: Right to Bear Arms In the second amendment we are given the right to bear arms, but in the world we live in today people are starting to question this right. In my opinion I believe we should have the right to bear arms, but with more restrictions than we have today. We were first given this right when we were fighting for our independence from Great Britain. No one ever knew when the British were coming, except Paul Revere of course, so we were given the right to keep rifles and such in our homes for protection in these instances. On the other hand though, we have the idea of a repeat of Shay s rebellion. The government is becoming less and less popular as the years go on. The millennials of today believe that if they all stand up together that something will get changed. With this years election there were so many young people outraged at the fact that Donald Trump won. This to me sounds like a spark of something bad. Mostly the people voting for Trump were the ones wanting to keep guns in their homes but with the people who were upset about this they may abuse that right to start an arsenal to rebel against the government. Another factor of why some people think we should not have guns in our homes is because of all the public shootings that have been happening around the nation. The second amendment was put into effect long before the time we live in today. The purpose of the second amendment was to have a ready militia at all times for the war on ... • 46. Pros And Cons Of Floodplains A floodplain or flood plain is an area of land adjacent to a stream or river that stretches from the banks of its channel to the base of the enclosing valley walls and experiences flooding during periods of high discharge. Or in simple words we can say an area of low lying ground adjacent to a river, formed mainly of riversediments and subject to flooding. Flood plains are made by a meander eroding sideways as they travel downstream. When a river breaks its banks and floods, it leaves behind layers of alluvium (silt). These gradually build up to create the floor of the flood plain. Floodplains can support particularly rich ecosystems, both in quantity and diversity. Floodplains are where land and water meet. The two environments merge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reduces a river s discharge and so makes it less likely to flood. Afforestation also prevents mass wasting which reduces the amount of soil entering the river and keeps the river s capacity high. When combined with floodplain zoning, afforestation can be very effective at reducing the risk of flooding. It creates new habitats for animals and improving water quality by filtering pollutants out of rainwater. The issue with afforestation is that it requires quite a lot of space to be effective and could prove unpopular among famers on the floodplain as they won t be too happy with trees sapping nutrients from the soil. This issue can be combated somewhat by creating riparian buffers, thin vegetated strips of land that run adjacent to a river s channel. Wetland Restoration involves creating conditions that are favorable for the development of wetlands (marshes or swamps). Wetlands are able to store large volumes of water which helps to reduce the discharge in a river. Wetlands don t reduce flooding where they are located but rather downstream of the river. They have the added benefit of creating new habitats for animals and greatly increasing biodiversity. They reduce the area of land available for farming though which makes them unpopular among ... The speaker of the poem goes through a journey from confusion to wisdom, which expands his ideas about racial tensions and segregation. The poem also shows how finding your identity can help you learn new things about yourself, and also about other people that you would never have known. Langston Hughes who was one of the most prolific writers during the 1920s and the 1950s, he was also a big contributor to both the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights Movement. Hughes poems have contributed to helping people get through racial discrimination, segregation, and racial tensions during the 1950s. The structure for Theme for my English B is a free verse. It also shows a lot of enjambment throughout the poem, which is when the sentence continues to go onto the next stanza without any sort of pause or break. The poem being a free verse relates to why the speaker is rambling his thoughts on the paper until he has an understanding of who he actually is, also the poem showing a lot of enjambment shows why how he is just writing his thoughts throughout the poem. • 48. The Importance Of Arts Integration In Education Arts integration is defined as the investigation of curricular content through artistic explorations. In this process, the arts provide an avenue for rigorous investigation, representation, expression, and reflection of both curricular content and the art form itself (as cited in Donovan Pascale, 2012, p. 14). As previously discussed, the arts are a boon to those who seek to make their curriculum design more inclusive of all types of learners, and contributes to the social curriculum. Even beyond those applications, arts integration can truly benefit all educators. The arts teach a number of practical skills outside of the primary academic curriculum that teachers are responsible for fostering. Notably, the four Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity) of 21st century learning each work hand in hand with the arts. If we consider the arts as modes of communication, we see that students are more clearly able to demonstrate learning, ask questions, and connect with peers and teachers alike. The more languages a teacher can use, the better chance he or she has to speak (and listen to) diverse students. We need many languages to educate our children for their present and future lives (Powell, 1997, p. 5). Students who struggle with traditional classroom languages may find themselves suddenly able to participate in a world that was closed to them before. This is particularly important in health education, where the stakes are immensely high and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On Euthyphro s Dilemma and Divine Command Essay examples On Euthyphro s Dilemma and Divine Command In Plato s Euthyphro, Socrates presents a fundamentally meta ethical problem to Euthyphro by asking whether the pious or holy is beloved by the gods because it is holy, or holy because it is beloved of the gods (Plato 219)? I will relate this question to the Divine Command Theory of morality and discuss the philosophical implications associated with each possible answer to the dilemma while demonstrating fallacies and inequalities within each. Divine Command Theory (DCT) asserts that morality is somehow dependent upon God, and that moral obligation consists in obedience to God s commands. Divine Command Theory includes the claim that morality is ultimately based on the commands or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following these a priori presuppositions that God is both omnipotent and omniscient (as well as intrinsically good), and that morality is ultimately dependent on God s commands, then it is sound to reason that piety and moral goodness are implicit in anything God commands. The argument may be made that my logic is circular and that to define what is morally good by that standard is both flawed and fallacious. To this I rebut: How would I define good without presupposing that God is the foundation of such goodness? I would argue that although I may have to have a map to know where Dallas is, Dallas still has to exist prior to the map. Following that logic, God s goodness would exist prior to the existence of finite, derived goodnesses, though conceptually or epistemologically... (Moreland 90).
