A Very Brief Look at Ireland
An old myth claims that St.Patrick used his to scare all the snakes into sea. Therefore, there are no
snakes in Ireland. Ireland gained it s independence from Great Britain in 1937. The head of Ireland is
still under Britain s command. Before Ireland became a country, Ireland was covered in ice and snow,
during the the Last Glacial Maximum. The Last Glacial Maximum is the era when ice covered
northern Europe, Asia, and America, which was about 20,000 years ago. Ireland is the sixth richest
country in the world, which is surprising because it is mostly farm land.
Around 600 and 800 B.C. Celtic tribes began to settle on Ireland. Around the 12th century Britain took
the Irish s independence. During the potato famine, in the 1840s, farmers dug up potatoes then a day
after the potatoes became slimy, blackish, mass of rottenness . About 1 1/4 million Irish left their
homes. They took ships Canada and America hoping for a better life.
On 1916, Easter Monday, Ireland started a Rebellion. The IRA , Irish Republican Army, fought Britain
for five years to win independence for 26 southern counties. The other 6 counties are still under
Britain s control. This lead to the Troubles in the 1960 s which were acts of violence on the United
Kingdom Army. The United Kingdom, United States, and Ireland was a part of a process that helped
traders and sellers which is know as The Good Friday Agreement in 1988, in Northern Ireland. In
1990, Mary Robinson changed Ireland s history by

Jamaican Creole Poem Analysis
The Poetry within Jamaican Creole in a Linguistic Imperalised England It is clear from the poem to
see how Linton feels about the racially hostile environment in which he lives. He chooses to show his
social identity with his strong Jamaican accent which conveys to the reader that he is of immigrant
status, this is fundamental to this poem. Within this essay, I wish to analyze his reasoning for choosing
to express himself with a post colonial approach by using his Jamaican Creole and how he chooses to
combat the conflict of the position of language in the development of colonization. In his most
repetitive stanza, which takes the form of a chorus in spoken form, Linton says. Inglan is a bitch dere s
no escapin it Inglan is a bitch dere s no runnin whey fram it There is poetry in profanity, Often
profanity can set an underlying feeling and strengthen an emotion a writer wants to get across in his
material. The repetition of the word bitch Linton expresses his frustration and disappointment for
British imperialism as he tries to make the most of what seems like a cemented situation and yet is still
confronted with institutionalized racism. In the thirteenth Stanza Linton expresses the exploitation of
immigrant workers by saying mi know dem have work, work in abundant yet still, dem mek mi
redundant now, at fifty five mi gettin quite ol yet still, dem sen mi fi goh draw dole The experience in
inner cities had by immigrants in the 1950 s and 60 s was, to say

Strategic Planning Process Paper
The Strategic Planning Process
Mission Statement
In many organizations, the first step in strategic planning is the creation or updating of the agency s
strategic philosophy (Garner, 2005). This is typically completed by reviewing or creating a mission
statement. Many variations of mission statements exist and vary from agency to agency. Most mission
statements will contain one or all of these five elements: 1) Purpose, 2) Vision, 3) Strategy, 4) Values,
and 5) Standards (Wilkinson Monkhouse, 1994).
An agency s Purpose is the explanation for why the law enforcement agency exists and to whom the
organization aims to benefit. Its Vision is the ideal future state of the agency at some point in the
future. An agency s Strategy is the operating rationale of the agency. Its Values are a set of beliefs that
are the foundation of the organization s management style and ethics. Finally, an agency s Standards
are the behavior guidelines and policies that steer an organization s operations. The best agency ...

The top categories of people participating in the strategic planning process were: police administrators
(99%), police officers (87.5%), civilian employees (76.2%), and community organizations (49%). In
addition, another common category type was members of city government. The percentage of
involvement differed by agency size. Smaller agencies were more likely to see city government
representation with 66.7% participation, 51.4% for medium size agencies, and 43.6% for large

History of the Word Assassin
Words are dynamic, ever changing aspects of our world. The meaning of words grow and change over
time. Many words have evolved over time to take on new forms and identities with a changing culture.
The evolution of our basic vocabulary is bound to evolve and morph into new meanings. Words that
have been around for longer are bound to have a variety of meanings because they have been used by
people for centuries. Words change meaning over a long period of time due to culture, slang, incorrect
usage, and misinterpretation. The word, assassin, much like other words, has progressed and changed
meaning over time. In one way it was used to describe a person addicted to the narcotics, hash.
Secondly, it can be used as its more prevalent usage currently as a person who is hired to kill. There
are many theories about where the word assassin originated, but the most common is that the word
assassin had first originated in about 1080 right before the first crusade. There was a certain fanatical
sect of Ismaili Muslims that sent forth militants during the crusades to kill Christian leaders. While
they did this they were said to be under the influence of hashish, an opiate. One of the primary sources
for this account was from the writings of Marco Polo. As a result, the first literal meaning of the word
evolved from the Arabic word, hashishiyyin or hashishin, and meant hashish eater or hashish user.
However, the term took on a completely different meaning as time went on. As a result

Characteristics Of Culturally Relevant Teaching By...
Teachers must be aware and can identify the different levels of knowledge which goes hand to hand
with Bloom s taxonomy. According, to Center for Teaching this concept includes a maximum of six
different levels such as understanding, remember, or evaluate. However, knowledge is the basis of
these six cognitive processes allowing a teacher to categorize where the student exist and what it takes
to improve their knowledge. In chapter 3 5 the author relates to the knowledge of the teacher by
outlining the characteristics of culturally relevant teaching by providing classroom demonstrations and
teacher observations. Cultural relevant is responsive teaching is a pedagogy grounded in teachers
displaying cultural competence (Jabbar, Abdul 2013). This allows students to connect their prior
knowledge to what is presented in the classroom. In relations to the teacher it serves as a guide to help
teachers connect with their students by knowing and incorporating the student s culture into
instructional activities. This type of teacher views knowledge as something that is continuously re
created, recycles and shared. Various teachers were interviewed on how knowledge is valued in the
classroom. They viewed education and knowledge as vehicles for emancipation. These teachers
consistently found ways to bring African American customs and other viewpoints into class
discussions. The first scenario speaks on a teacher named Ms. Hilliard used learning tools that

Kidney Transplants
Kidney transplants have been known since 1954 when it was first performed at Brigham Woman s
hospital in Boston. Although technology and technique involved have improved, the waiting list for a
kidney transplant (which is the most common transplanted organ) continues to increase. In 2012 there
were 95,000 individuals waiting for a transplant yet only about 16,500 transplants were performed that
year. Introducing a new system that offers compensation for people who give up their organs is what
some believe the most effective way to decrease the waiting list. Individuals waiting on a transplant
and their family members endure many hardships such as; the high cost of the transplant, hardships of
dialysis, and reduced life expectancy.Individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paying someone $15,000 for a kidney will save money and time based solely on common sense. Even
if this new system only increases organ donations by a small percentage the overall outcome will be a
lot better then what it is now. Although this system seems practical and efficient, to many it is
immoral. Paying individuals $15,000 for a kidney would ultimately save the recipient about $330,000
and an improved liberalized lifestyle. In a transplant the recipient of the kidney is the only person
receiving a tangible benefit. If the person who donates receives compensation in return this individual
will also benefit financially. The word donation is defined as an act or instance of presenting
something as a gift, grant, or contribution . Taking this definition into account the idea of organ
donations would be nonexistent. The article presents the fact that the waiting list is getting larger and
larger due to the lack of donations. Setting up a capitalist market for body parts may in no doubt
increase the donations yet, who are the people that will be selling their organs? The less wealthy
therefore implementing a system in which the poor are working as replacement parts for the rich.
Paying for organs is immoral because it treats the human body as a commodity, but is it more immoral

Depressants And Its Effects On The Brain
Depressants Most depressants effect the brain just by increasing the moments of gamma aminobutyric
acid (GABA), a biological in the brain that sends messages between every cell. The activity increased
GABA to slow down the brain activity. This is a relaxing effect that can be very helpful to people with
anxiety problems. Although there s also a negative side effects to this too much GABA activity,
though, can be harmful. These effects can lead to serious accidents or injuries. These types of
depressants can also lead you to physical dependence this is another reason why they should only be
used as prescribed. Dependence is a feeling that makes you feel uncomfortable or sick when you try to
stop taking the drug, and it can only lead

Genre Theory Paper
Genre theory is used in the study of films in order to categorize films. Genre are dependent on
different factors such as who the director is, story line, and audience expectations (Azia, n.d). Genres
are types or categories and genre films that are usually recognizable as part of a certain genre
(Goodykoontz, B., Jacobs, 2014, section 4.1). To better understand genre there are several examples to
look at. When watching a fantasy film we know that within the movie we will expect to see unreal,
magical, or impossible situations, characters or settings often overlapping with various other genres
(GoodyKoontz, 2014). In musical films you will see that the film mainly focuses on songs. Genres
also have subgenres which are sub categories of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of strictly dialogue, the narrative may from time to time be advanced by characters breaking
into song. Numerous subgenres exist within the musical genre from musical comedy to musical drama
to animated musicals to musical documentaries and concert films (Goodykoontz, B., Jacobs, 2014,
section 4.4). A scene that helps classify Snow White and the Seven dwarfs into the animated musical
genre is the scene where all the dwarfs are working hard at the jewelry mine and once work gets over
they walk home in a single line singing the song heigh ho heigh ho its home from work we go as they
dance and skip on their walk home from work. Another scene that illustrates a musical/fantasy genre is
the scene where Snow White discovers the dwarf s cabin and with help from the animals of the forest
she starts to clean the house while singing whistle while you work. I m sure we would all love if our
animals could help us with chores around the house but that will most likely never happen. This is a
perfect example of a movie with fantasy genre. The fantasy genre has events that occur outside the
ordinary laws that operate within the universe. Magic is central to the fantasy genre and fantasy stories
often involve journeys and quests like the wicked queen on a quest to kill Snow White. There are three
different ways that fantasy writers set up their worlds. Some films begin and end in a fantasy world,
others start in the real world and a third type of fantasy is set in the real world but elements of magic
intrude upon it (Dewan,

Overview of Consumer Behavior
Consumer Behavior
Introduction
Engel (1986) define consumer behavior as those acts of individuals directly involved in obtaining,
using and disposing of economic goods and services, including the decision processes that precede
and determine these acts . The present paper is a reflective journal based in which three different
marketing activities have been selected and analyzed from the perspective of their influence on
consumer behavior.
Entry 1
The Marketing Activity
This is a Rolex advertisement in which the company used Tennis Star for the marketing of their brand.
Marketing through Celebrities is very common as people like them and idealize these star whether
they are sports persons, actors and actresses or other celebrities. The advertisement has been compiled
on the qualities of the tennis star. Thus it is not only the advertising of Rolex but also the star himself.
Concepts
Situational Context
A situation is defined as factors or something over and above the characteristics of a person and
product (Pachauri, 2002). Kakkar and Lutz (1981) pointed out that situational effects might be
behavioral (for example, entertaining friends), experimental, or perceptual (for example, being
depressed or being pressed for time). Therefore consumer behavior is influenced by both extrinsic and
intrinsic factors (Davis and Bagozzi, 1992). The advertisement was placed in a sports event which has
both entertaining value and experimental. Another aspect is involving celebrity

A person has to really pay attention to the details to see the name. It is pretty hard to drive by and
notice that there is a church on that street. In the Catholic Church that I attend, the name is pretty
obvious. A person can tell that there is a church from quite a distance. In my opinion, the church did
not lend itself to worship.
Worship
The nature of the worship facility consisted of communion and prayers of forgiveness and faith.
As mass originate, the reverend, who was named Jimmy Orate, and his wife discussed many life
stories with the people. This stage of the worship service lasted a good fifteen to twenty minutes. The
reverend s wife spoke about an abortion that she went through before she found Christ. That abortion
led to her guilt for many years. She had no kind of peace, and credits that to her past non belief in
God. She felt ashamed to speak about the abortion with people, but with the faith in God and Christ,
she was finally able to confront her fear until finally speaking about the issue. She managed to ask for
forgiveness and was finally able to deal with herself. The message associated with this anecdote was
of repentance. In order to have peace and tranquility, a person has to repent from all of past and
current sins.
The reverend also contributed adding the story from Psalm 3 of the Bible in which David fled from his
own son Absalom . Psalm 3 reads like this:

Healthcare Administrator Essay
Healthcare administrators are the beating heart of a healthcare company. Without an administrator,
paperwork, clerical duties, and organizational duties would be left to an overwhelmed staff that is
already busy trying to juggle the demands of patients and concerned families. From accounting to
marketing or ensuring patient care and safety, the business end of healthcare would suffer. Having an
administrator to take care of needs such as ordering supplies, negotiating vendor contracts, taking care
of scheduling, and overseeing the finances keeps a business running smoothly.

During the 1970s a man named Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was leading Islamic fundamentalists to

Protests were more often as time went on, but on February 14, 1979 Ayatollah took it to an extreme
when armed Iranians took siege of a United States embassy. 102 Americans were taken hostage during
the event and would stay there for a while.

American Pie Is A Song That Made A Huge Impact On Americans
American Pie is a song that made a huge impact on Americans in any time period. Don McLean sang
about the events from the nineteen fifties through nineteen seventies after Buddy Holly s death. Many
events from those years are controversial. McLean also stated how music changed from these decades.
Rock n Roll used to be popular since the fifties. American Pie by Don McLean describes the transition
in Rock n Roll music from the iconic history of the mid nineteen hundred. Nonetheless, many critics
assume the first line of the chorus relates to McLean s relationship with the Miss America contestant.
According to the Understanding American Pie website, the catchy phrase, So bye bye, Miss American
Pie, refers to, the beauty queen Miss America (Fann 3). During McLean s successful career, he dated
Miss America, which Americans said that she is as American as an apple pie. She represents the
simplicity in American history that carried meaning. Miss America does not correlate with the theme
of the song. The transformation of Rock n Roll music was impacted by different elements instead of
Miss America. The lyric, So bye bye, Miss American Pie, that Americans assume is the Miss America

An Description Of An Exact Dissipation Model For Arbitrary
Referee Report: Manuscript ID# OL: 280139
PAPER DESCRIPTION
In the paper titled An exact dissipation model for arbitrary photonic Fock state transport in waveguide
QED systems , Chen et al. have presented a dissipation model to study the Fock and coherent state
transport through waveguide QED (wQED) systems. As the main novelty of their work, they have
modelled the environment as a 3D scattering channel (described in a real space picture similar to the
waveguide modelling) and it has been shown that a reduced Hamiltonian can be obtained for arbitrary
photon number Fock state which can describe the photonic transport with a restricted eigenstate. To
illustrate, one , two , N photon and coherent state examples are presented. Finally, two simple
geometries of the scattering channel are considered namely the uniform medium and a slab
waveguide. Authors have also very briefly pointed out the applicability of their model in cavity QED.
COMMENTS AND DECISION
Overall the paper has interesting findings and is systematically presented. In particular, the modelling
of the environment as a non excitable 3D scattering channel, is the key attraction in this work.
Moreover, the authors have made claims which seems not to be exaggerated. However, there are some
points in this work which can be ambiguous to the interested reader. Therefore, I can recommend
publication of this paper in the Optics Letters, provided the authors performs the following revisions:

Essay On Thurgood Marshall
Throughout history, there has been discrimination against race, religion, gender, orientation, age,
among many other things. From the British preventing the colonists rights to the separate but equal
doctrine people used to justify discrimination against African Americans, America has had its fair
share of it. After years of the mockery of equality that African Americans had, change was needed.
Out of the thousands of voices who brought the winds of change, that were heard the most were:
Martin Luther King Jr., for convincing people to join their cause; Thurgood Marshall, who used the
law to get people to listen to their voices; and the Silent Majority, for without them, freedom would
never truly ring from every mountainside.
While King was the spokesperson, the Silent Majority were the people who really pushed for civil
rights. They were the ones who did the sit ins, boycotts, strikes, and protests. While the organizations

Analysis Of The Yellow Wall Paper
Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wall paper serves as a perfect example of how women are
treated in the 19th century. The distracting details both surrounding and filling the new house that the
main character and her husband move into haunt her. Throughout the story, the main character, as she
observes the house while in isolation, notices the true meaning in life, specifically for women. Gilman
s piece unveils the unfortunate requirements that women must meet in order to become accepted into
society. The imagery and description of the house mentioned in The Yellow Wall paper holds a much
more symbolized sense reassuring the main character about women s roles in life, according to
humanity. Along with the other furniture in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anything that comes out of the main character s mouth regarding the desire to rearrange the house for
valid purposes sounds silly to him, as he continues to treat her less than a wife, let alone a woman. To
him, all that mattered was his wife to stay healthy for [his] sake and for [their] child s sake, as well as
for [her] own exactly in that order (Gilman, 850). The main character must focus on being the perfect
wife, the perfect mother, and serve the family whenever they depended on her. Her own health and
worries were her last priority. John, just like society, expects high standards for women to meet in
order to belong and if they couldn t meet those expectations, then they were not respected. Not only
does the main character observe the meaning behind the wallpaper, but so does her sister in law.
However, it does not seem to satisfy her nor change her perspective on life either. John s sister seems
to be content living the domestic life, and hopes for no better profession , and obeys society s values.
Jennie portrays the women from the 19th century who follow what every man would want in a lady
(Gilman, 847). There was no need for a woman to be out working when that job belonged to the
husband. The wife was needed at home for the children, as well as clean any mess or cook all the
meals for the family, as they depended on her to do so. One attribute from the house that almost drove
the main character over the edge was the nursery, especially

The Hidden Meanings Within Michelangelo s The Creation Of...
What are the hidden meanings within Michelangelo s The Creation of Adam? Is there significance in
God and Adam s stretched hands? Several art historians analyzed this particular aspect of the fresco,
and believe it to have deeper meaning; while many found significance in the nude figures next to and
around God. Each interpretation came about using a different methodology, explained in detail below.
While all of these interpretations are valid and offer special insight into the fresco, they are not based
in objective reason. In this essay, I will explain the significance of their stretched fingers using
simplified mathematics.
The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo is one of the most recognizable pieces of artwork in the
history of art and still today in modern times. This fresco is the fourth scene along the middle strip on
the Sistine ceiling illustrating stories from the book of Genesis. This scene portrays the Biblical
episode when God creates the first man, Adam. Many people recognize the image of God wrapped in
cloth extending his arm and pointing towards a naked figure, Adam, who is equally extending his
finger to meet God s. However, their fingers do not touch. They instead remain electrifyingly close in
a way that seems as if their fingers could collide at any moment.
While many people recognize the this fresco, many cannot fully understand the meaning behind
Michelangelo s brushstrokes. Even those who understand the fresco s aesthetic value, very few are
able to

Analysis Of The Feminine Mystique By Betty Friedan
I agree that Betty Friedan was right to write that the suburban home was a comfortable concentration
camp where women suffered a slow death of mind and spirit for the following reasons:
First, during this time frame, the normal 50s family would be a hard working father who supported the
household while the mother took care of home economics

, such as cleaning, cooking, and taking care
of the family. Friedan personally felt women were being cheated from their true potential and purpose.
Although her statement was a bit exaggerated, it was for that reason the book was a success or failure
to some. Either way, more than 2 million copies were sold and she was able to pass the concept of new
feminism.

Industrialization And Imperialism
Industrialization and Imperialism were the two main reasons conflict occurred around the globe. No
matter if it was industrialization of Europe or the lack there of in China. Imperialism would cause
issues for places like Germany and China in completely different ways. Both imperialism and
industrialization had positives and negatives, a lot was based off where you were located on the globe,
how strong was your empire, and who were your allies. Both go hand in hand with each other as they
would cause tension between empires and within them as well. Both would play a major part in the
rise and demise of some of the biggest empires.
Europe was one of the first places to industrialized because of the boom in population, and agricultural
changes. It was not easy to start off with, everyone was not in agreeance with this new idea. The idea
of organizing states around national communities eventually influenced political development
throughout the world. While organizing themselves into national states, western European and North
American peoples also embarked on processes of industrialization. Although industrialization initially
caused a great deal of discomfort and dislocation for workers. The enclosure movement that took
place in 1750 was a big reason as well. As Western Europe and North America would use both
industrialization and imperialism to dominate. They also inspired sustained resistance among
colonized peoples, which eventually led to the organization of anti

How Did Walt Disney Grow During The Great Depression
Walt Disney is a house hold name to most families, he is the man who is known for creating one of the
largest companies in the world (Disney). Though he almost didn t have the chance to start this
company. Starting with his love for art since he was born on 1901 in Chicago, IL. At the age of 16
Walt Disney became a Red Cross member driving an ambulance, and this is where he began drawings
designs and cartoons in the ambulance. He then worked as a cartoonist in Kansas but that ended fairly
quickly. After that he then moved to California where he began his company with his brother Roy
Disney. In the partnership Roy focused on the business aspects while Walt focused on the creative

lifetime. In the 1930 s and 40 s they had employed over 1000 people, but around that time it was a
tough time for American businesses. Though Walt Disney managed to get through all the difficulties
such as the great depression, WW2, and many other diversities it faced. To this day they are one of the

Reflection On Effective Teaching
Introduction
In this analysis, my objective is to reflect on effective teaching and learning strategies and methods,
using my personal experience in the classroom, as well as wider reading/research and university
lectures, including my contextual analysis on my placement school (see appendix one).
However, since there are so many dynamics to effective teaching and learning, one cannot put a finger
on a single aspect and use that as a solution. With this in mind, I have chosen to look at two foci in
depth. These are Classroom Management and Questioning Techniques but before we analyse these
foci in depth, it is important to understand what teaching and learning are. Not only this, but it is also
essential to note they are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first teacher, who also happens to be my Subject Mentor, is a very experienced staff member, he
has known the students since they started the school in Year 7, and hence he has a personal
relationship with them. Because of this, he is able to joke around with them and therefore be slightly
friendly. This works well in this particular situation, however, it does not mean it would work for
every teacher.
Secondly, the other staff member happens to be someone with a practical approach; she involves the
students very much so in her lessons but at the same time they are encouraged to work on
independently too, as she has a slightly softer approach to teaching, hence the pupils behave
differently.
Lastly, the third staff member is Assistant Headteacher he has a very informal way of teaching, to the
point where he addresses the learners by their nicknames. Furthermore, he uses slang in his lessons for
better understanding for the learners.
Why teachers use different methods has a deep connection with how learners learn.
How do learners learn?
There are different learning styles, which should be the reason behind teachers using different
teaching styles. Studies suggest it is important for people to be in the right state of mind in order to
learn. If a person is not in the right mind to learn, learning can be ineffective.

Analysis Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Introduction What s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as
sweet. This quote from Shakespeare is from the balcony scene when Juliet tells Romeo that his name
is meaningless and that he is still a handsome young man and that only their family names are
enemies. This same quote can be applied in today s society in how people address each other based on
different situations, especially when addressing women. There are many different titles that can be
used to address women as opposed to men, but despite the title used, the woman herself does not
change. Only the meaning and stereotype associated with the title used changes.
Throughout the years, the titles used to address women have slowly shifted meaning from that of a
social status to that of a marital status. Erickson (2014) explains that the titles Miss and Mrs. are the
oldest coined terms used to address women, and both of them derive from the title Mistress. Both titles
were generally only used for those of higher power and status. Miss described young girls while Mrs. ,
described women who had governed subjects, was skilled, or who taught. Upon reaching adulthood, a
Miss became a Mrs. , and according to the Oxford English Dictionary, it was common for older,
unmarried women to still use the title Mrs. so they could increase their standing to be on par with
married women. This was why sometimes this referred to as a title of politeness or courtesy title. But

Dangers Of Social Cohesion
There are many different ideas about humanity and how it works and what things make it work the
best. There are some sociology theorist have a more positive view on humanity and believe that
humanity works best when people have relationships and more human interaction thus creating society
and its regulations as we know them. There are many benefits of social cohesion, but there are also
downfalls of this as well according to some theorist and these are referred to as social control. Social
cohesion is when those in a social system identify with it and feel bound to support it, especially its
norms, beliefs, and values. Social control is how a community or society regulates a person s behavior.
Ultimately, the benefits of social cohesion outweigh the dangers of social control. Without the benefits
of social cohesion, the dangers of social control would be intensified because of the lack thereof.
Durkheim, Erikson, Putnam and Collins are theorists who all take a stance on the benefits of social
cohesion. Some of their ideas are identical to one another or have some similar points and all connect
in some way. Durkheim says that social cohesion protects people from anomie and anomic suicide.
Anomie is defined as the lack of social integration and regulation or the lack of the usual social or
ethical standards in an individual or group. During a period if anomie, people feel disconnected from
their society because they no longer see the norms and values that they are

As defined by Richard Beckhard, Organization development (OD) is a planned, top down,
organization wide effort to increase the organization s effectiveness and health. OD is achieved
through interventions in the organization s processes, using behavioural science knowledge.[1]
According to Warren Bennis, OD is a complex strategy intended to ... Show more content on

He is a behavioral scientist who knows how to get people in an organization involved in solving their
own problems. His main strength is a comprehensive knowledge of human behavior, supported by a
number of intervention techniques (to be discussed later). The change agent can be either external or
internal to the organization. An internal change agent is usually a staff person who has expertise in the
behavioral sciences and in the intervention technology of OD. Beckhard reports several cases in which
line people have been trained in OD and have returned to their organizations to engage in successful
change assignments. [3] In the natural evolution of change mechanisms in organizations, this would
seem to approach the ideal arrangement. Qualified change agents can be found on some university
faculties, or they may be private consultants associated with such organizations as the National
Training Laboratories Institute for Applied Behavioral Science (Washington, D.C.) or University
Associates (San Diego, California), and similar organizations.
The change agent may be a staff or line member of the organization who is schooled in OD theory and
technique. In such a case, the contractual relationship is an in house agreement that should probably
be explicit with respect to all of the conditions involved except the fee.

Without The Crusades there would be very little to the development of Western Europe. The Crusades
were very important, and with any large moment, there are struggles and gains. Money is a big role
that effects time periods, and the economy in each time will change the outcome to the time period.
The currency was split in two ways, with kings and nobles or the poor people desperately. The
Crusades helped bring in revenue to Eastern Europe through goods they brought back. The Crusades
helped increase the wealth of the Catholic Church and the power of the pope. Thus the prominent part
which the Popes took in the enterprises naturally fostered their power and influence by gaining control

crusades also had affects on feudalism. Thousands of barons and knights sold their plots of land so
they could go on the Crusades. Many more died in battle and their owned land would move up the
scale back to the king. Their loss of numbers in both amount of people and the influence, and the

Optimism In Candide
Candide Francois Marie Arouet, recognized by his alias Voltaire, recognized in a freethinking

celebrated work, the key character, Candide, begins the story as a trusting and innocent young man,
but upon leaving his home, he hastily starts to learn about the severe and vicious truths of the world.
Pangloss, Candide s teacher, in the beautiful castle where he spent his childhood, accompanies him on

happens will have the best outcome and that everything will turn out good as it should. The falseness

there is a resurrection or last minute redemption, which was unexpected. Voltaire parodied death by
including the strange situation to prevent earthquakes and the deceased person happens to survive to
show the unpredictability of mortality. The irony of the failed attempt to burn and then hang Pangloss
by the dishonest religious hypocrites is the surprise ending. At the end of this subsequent reading,
Candide asked Pangloss, when you got hanged, mutilated, thrashed, and were tugging at the oar, did
you continue to think that everything that happens around us is for the best? (Sayre, pg. 841) Pangloss

Doors Opening, Closing On Us, By Marge Piercy
The word doors can have different meanings. Literally, they are a slab of material that separates
something from another, usually a room. Figuratively they can have many meanings, for example,
they can symbolize a growth or a development. In addition, doors can show, an important point where
someone turns from a child into an adult, or they can symbolize celebrations held to commemorate
these special transitions. Doors can also be used to describe life s most important parts, such as being
born or passing away. The Giver is a book by Lois Lowry, it is about a boy named Jonas living in a
community set in the future. This community faces strict laws, if the citizen does not abide by these
rules then there can be some serious punishments. In this book Jonas gets selected as a receiver, the
receiver s job is to get memories from the past and store them in his mind to shield the truth from the
people of the community. The poem Doors Opening, Door Closing on Us is by Marge Piercy, this
poem is about the essence of doors and what they can symbolize. Piercy writes about how doors can
mean various things to different people. Both the book Giver and the poem Doors Opening, Closing
on Us have similarities that describe the stages a person goes through in their life.
The poem and the story both describe death using a door. Lois Lowry incorporates doors in her book
by writing about how a citizen has to walk through a special door into the releasing room. In the book,

Electronic Properties Of Monolayer Tungsten Disulfide
Electronic properties of monolayer tungsten disulfide grown by chemical vapor deposition
We demonstrate large monolayer tungsten disulfide (WS2) ( 200µm) by chemical vapor deposition.
Photoluminescence (PL) and Raman spectroscopy provide insight into the structural and strain
heterogeneity of the flakes. We observe exciton quenching at grain boundaries (GBs) that originate
from the nucleation site at the center of WS2 flakes. Temperature variable transport measurements of
top gated WS2 transistors show an apparent metal to insulator transition. Variable range and thermally
activated hopping mechanisms can explain the carrier transport in the insulating phase at low and
intermediate temperatures. Devices exhibit room temperature field effect electron mobility as high as
48cm2/V.s. The mobility increases with decreasing temperature and begins to saturate at below 100°K,
possibly due to Coulomb scattering or defects. Layered two dimensional (2D) transition metal
dichalcogenides (TMDs) exhibit unique properties such as ease of energy band engineering by
adjusting the number of layers or by Van der Waals heterostructures.1 Such salient features of TMDs
make them promising for a wide range of electronic and optoelectronic applications.2 4 However, the
transformation of basic science studies into viable device technologies necessitates large area
synthesis of device quality TMDs. Significant research is ongoing to grow monolayer (ML) TMDs

Cloning as Solution to Food Shortages and Needs for New...
With food shortages and needs for new medicine, research, and cures, it s hard to think that there
could ever be a solution to these issues. Cloning could be one of the many solutions to the problems
that are afflicting the world as we know it. But that has many people wondering what exactly cloning
is, and, more importantly why people do it. Knowing what cloning is, why people do it, and other
opinions and feelings about cloning could help us solve these issues. To clone means to create a
genetic copy of another organism. Cloning depends on there being two cells, one of a female s egg,
and one from an adult that is intended to be cloned. (Wilmut) There are also a variety of specific types
of cloning, but two main general types: reproductive and non reproductive, also called nuclear
transplantation or therapeutic cloning. ( Cloning ) Nuclear transplantation creates clones in a different
way than reproductive cloning does. Nuclear transplantation starts when the cell is taken from the
adult, which contains the genome of the organism that is wanted to be cloned. (Cloning: Frequently)
An egg is then taken from a female, the nucleus removed, and the cell from the adult is placed into the
female s egg. These two eggs are fused together with an electric current. (Weiss) This causes the egg s
DNA to become that of the subject s egg. (Cloning: Frequently) The egg is then placed into a test tube
and allowed to split there before being placed into the surrogate. ( Cloning )

Revolutions In The 1820s
The revolutions of the 1820s and the 1830s were based on the power struggle between liberals and
conservative and motivated by liberalism and nationalism. In France, the Battle at the Rue de Rohan
on July 29, 1830, occurred due to the results of the election of July 25, 1830, which created a more
liberal Chamber of Deputies. This enraged King Charles X, an ultraroyalist, who wanted absolute
monarchic rule. Charles X implemented the Four Ordinances which, restricted freedom of the press,
dissolved the recently elected Chamber of Deputies, and called for new elections under a franchise
restricted to the wealthiest people in the country. Deliberately making it so that the monarchy would
have absolute control. The working class, infuriated with the Four Ordinances, took the streets of Paris
and built barricades; whilst, Charles X called the troops. On August 2 Charles X abdicated the throne
and was exiled in England and Louis Philippe was named King of the French, marking a shift in
power from one of absolute monarchical control to a more liberal government, labeled the July
Monarchy. Whereas, in the German speaking lands the Hambach Festival took place on May 27, 1832.
Students marched to the Hambach castle, influenced by the French Revolution two years prior.
Radical and democratic leaders led a protest that was attended by 30,000 people, they called for a

Is this the day you succumb to your problems and listen to the thoughts, or will you keep on going?
These are the thoughts that were running through Conrad Roy s mind when he was texting his

illness and the court system. Michelle Carter was a young teenager who texted her boyfriend telling
him to commit suicide multiple times. She is now facing years in prison for involuntary manslaughter.
The court system failed with this case but not drastically. They gave her 2.5 years when she should
have been charged as an adult and received twenty years. In June, Moniz found Carter guilty of
involuntary manslaughter, describing her behavior as reckless. Carter received less years than usual
because it was considered reckless and she only wanted attention. She did not get the full sentence
because she was not loved as much as she felt she should have been. She should have received the full
years, but this case was not as bad as others. The 2.5 year sentence is long, but not long enough for

Utilizing Video Games to Achieve Open and Honest...
Introduction:
The topic I chose was, utilizing video games to achieve open and honest communication between
parent and child. I have personal experience, as a employee of one of the largest video game retailers,
GameStop, in viewing how various video games impact communication between parents and their
children. There are various measures that help regulate the audience that play these types of video
games. One of these measures are the use of the ESRB rating system (Entertainment Software Rating
Board), which is a system that rates games for its content to help consumers understand the content for
games and its appropriateness for those who will be playing those games. This system uses a M rating,
for mature games, intended for an audience of those who are 17 or older. These games receive a rating
of mature due to their violence, language, and sometimes, sexual content.
The reason I chose this topic is its recent controversy with the video game, Grand Theft Auto V. This
game is under recent scrutiny because of the ability to enact various crimes such as murder, torture,
grand theft auto, and the solicitation of prostitutes. Although this is an extreme example of a violent
video game, it serves as a good base of understanding as far as what is available to the public. The
current question that has risen from this game is, do violent video games evoke violent tendencies in
kids? I would argue no, this is not the cause for violent tendencies in kids. As well, my stance

Socrates Law Beliefs And Society
Law, beliefs and society.
Laws are not standard. They changes from state to state and obviously from country to country.
Athenians judicial system condemned to death a man for having a different belief than theirs and in
this essay I claim that Socrates acceptance of death under a failing judicial system is unvirtuous
although he tries to make it seem as a virtuous and civic act. Socrates aberration for obeying the law is
pointless. If he wants to be virtuous he must go against the system. He needs to continue fighting back
and convince others to join his cause. Evidence will be shown from Apology and Crito to prove this
claim. Resistance as civic virtue isn t death a resistance?
Virtue is found in pointing out the wrong until something is done to make it right. Socrates tells Crito
whether we must follow the opinion of the many and fear it or instead the opinion of the one person, if
there is someone who has knowledge, whom we must defer to and fear more than all the others
together (Crito 47d). He is telling us that we must follow the right path, obey the one who is right and
ignore the mob but he is not that by subjugating to asthenias beliefs made laws. I consider his
subjugation an unvirtuous act that shows he has just given up on his cause, he prefers not to fight back
and every fleeing option suggested has already been marked as impossible.
When Socrates accepts death and stops caring for the spread of his beliefs he contradicts himself from
obeying the right and is following mobocracy. By saying And at the same time, I am not accustomed
to deem myself worthy of anything bad (Apology 38b) Socrates is expressing that he is living a
rightful examined life and if we evaluate this quotation from the cause effect point given by Socrates
we can say that an examined life (cause) is worth living (effect) which leads us to the outcome that If
he does not consider himself guilty of the accusations therefore he deserves to live. In both dialogues
Socrates expresses little or no desire for escaping which makes me think that either he gave up on his
cause or he does not want to go through the suffering of being seen as unvirtuous if he flees.
His life as a fugitive from justice is not the best life a

research and vendor support services, special lists of preapproved products, custom pricing, flexibility
to customize products, products from only name brand manufacturers or built in ordering limits
constrained by individual store deliveries, budget caps, seasonal boundaries and confidentiality or
security compliance issues.
These special product lists could challenge any B2B operation and its staff to comply with all these
special requirements. Back office customizations can craft special instructions and catalogs or stores
within stores that only display approved products and limit orders based on customizable guidelines.
The companies can still order other products if approved, which often requires approvals from
multiple decision makers. These store customizations can offer the following automatic processes:
Providing information on new products to all decision makers to expedite approvals
Limiting catalogs for easier ordering on mobile devices

Ballroom Scene Analysis
House and Ballroom Scene The House Ballroom scene is an intentional, multigenerational and
creative community which was founded by the Latino and black LGBTQ people. People from the
outside world came to know about this scene through researchers and journalist who were not
members of this community. The coverage of this community focused on dance form Vogue and it had
strong engagement with the movement against racism, homophobia, transphobia, cultural exploitation
and the barrier to healthcare (Valenti, 1989). According to some researcher, the Ballroom Scene
started as common occasion dubbed cabaret in where American menfolk in women attires came to
entertain the upper and middle class audiences. This was a clandestine activity and the member of the
LGBT community came to participate in the competition for recreation. Members of this community
formed a team or house. A house member who offer care and protection to the members when need be.
Ideally, members of these houses came from family backgrounds which did not support the activities
of the LBGT community. The US ballroom served as a home for escapees from reality and they acted
as comfort zone where people could seek acceptance for whoever they wanted to be. Wealth, glamour
and status are important factors in Ballroom culture. Different houses organized event which were
referred to as balls and the houses could meet and compete against each other in various categories. A
judge chosen by the house would then

  • 2. A Very Brief Look at Ireland An old myth claims that St.Patrick used his to scare all the snakes into sea. Therefore, there are no snakes in Ireland. Ireland gained it s independence from Great Britain in 1937. The head of Ireland is still under Britain s command. Before Ireland became a country, Ireland was covered in ice and snow, during the the Last Glacial Maximum. The Last Glacial Maximum is the era when ice covered northern Europe, Asia, and America, which was about 20,000 years ago. Ireland is the sixth richest country in the world, which is surprising because it is mostly farm land. Around 600 and 800 B.C. Celtic tribes began to settle on Ireland. Around the 12th century Britain took the Irish s independence. During the potato famine, in the 1840s, farmers dug up potatoes then a day after the potatoes became slimy, blackish, mass of rottenness . About 1 1/4 million Irish left their homes. They took ships Canada and America hoping for a better life. On 1916, Easter Monday, Ireland started a Rebellion. The IRA , Irish Republican Army, fought Britain for five years to win independence for 26 southern counties. The other 6 counties are still under Britain s control. This lead to the Troubles in the 1960 s which were acts of violence on the United Kingdom Army. The United Kingdom, United States, and Ireland was a part of a process that helped traders and sellers which is know as The Good Friday Agreement in 1988, in Northern Ireland. • 3. Jamaican Creole Poem Analysis The Poetry within Jamaican Creole in a Linguistic Imperalised England It is clear from the poem to see how Linton feels about the racially hostile environment in which he lives. He chooses to show his social identity with his strong Jamaican accent which conveys to the reader that he is of immigrant status, this is fundamental to this poem. Within this essay, I wish to analyze his reasoning for choosing to express himself with a post colonial approach by using his Jamaican Creole and how he chooses to combat the conflict of the position of language in the development of colonization. In his most repetitive stanza, which takes the form of a chorus in spoken form, Linton says. Inglan is a bitch dere s no escapin it Inglan is a bitch dere s no runnin whey fram it There is poetry in profanity, Often profanity can set an underlying feeling and strengthen an emotion a writer wants to get across in his material. The repetition of the word bitch Linton expresses his frustration and disappointment for British imperialism as he tries to make the most of what seems like a cemented situation and yet is still confronted with institutionalized racism. In the thirteenth Stanza Linton expresses the exploitation of immigrant workers by saying mi know dem have work, work in abundant yet still, dem mek mi redundant now, at fifty five mi gettin quite ol yet still, dem sen mi fi goh draw dole The experience in inner cities had by immigrants in the 1950 s and 60 s was, to say ... • 4. Strategic Planning Process Paper The Strategic Planning Process Mission Statement In many organizations, the first step in strategic planning is the creation or updating of the agency s strategic philosophy (Garner, 2005). This is typically completed by reviewing or creating a mission statement. Many variations of mission statements exist and vary from agency to agency. Most mission statements will contain one or all of these five elements: 1) Purpose, 2) Vision, 3) Strategy, 4) Values, and 5) Standards (Wilkinson Monkhouse, 1994). An agency s Purpose is the explanation for why the law enforcement agency exists and to whom the organization aims to benefit. Its Vision is the ideal future state of the agency at some point in the future. An agency s Strategy is the operating rationale of the agency. Its Values are a set of beliefs that are the foundation of the organization s management style and ethics. Finally, an agency s Standards are the behavior guidelines and policies that steer an organization s operations. The best agency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. History of the Word Assassin Words are dynamic, ever changing aspects of our world. The meaning of words grow and change over time. Many words have evolved over time to take on new forms and identities with a changing culture. The evolution of our basic vocabulary is bound to evolve and morph into new meanings. Words that have been around for longer are bound to have a variety of meanings because they have been used by people for centuries. Words change meaning over a long period of time due to culture, slang, incorrect usage, and misinterpretation. The word, assassin, much like other words, has progressed and changed meaning over time. In one way it was used to describe a person addicted to the narcotics, hash. Secondly, it can be used as its more prevalent usage currently as a person who is hired to kill. There are many theories about where the word assassin originated, but the most common is that the word assassin had first originated in about 1080 right before the first crusade. There was a certain fanatical sect of Ismaili Muslims that sent forth militants during the crusades to kill Christian leaders. While they did this they were said to be under the influence of hashish, an opiate. One of the primary sources for this account was from the writings of Marco Polo. As a result, the first literal meaning of the word evolved from the Arabic word, hashishiyyin or hashishin, and meant hashish eater or hashish user. However, the term took on a completely different meaning as time went on. As a result ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Characteristics Of Culturally Relevant Teaching By... Teachers must be aware and can identify the different levels of knowledge which goes hand to hand with Bloom s taxonomy. According, to Center for Teaching this concept includes a maximum of six different levels such as understanding, remember, or evaluate. However, knowledge is the basis of these six cognitive processes allowing a teacher to categorize where the student exist and what it takes to improve their knowledge. In chapter 3 5 the author relates to the knowledge of the teacher by outlining the characteristics of culturally relevant teaching by providing classroom demonstrations and teacher observations. Cultural relevant is responsive teaching is a pedagogy grounded in teachers displaying cultural competence (Jabbar, Abdul 2013). This allows students to connect their prior knowledge to what is presented in the classroom. In relations to the teacher it serves as a guide to help teachers connect with their students by knowing and incorporating the student s culture into instructional activities. This type of teacher views knowledge as something that is continuously re created, recycles and shared. Various teachers were interviewed on how knowledge is valued in the classroom. They viewed education and knowledge as vehicles for emancipation. These teachers consistently found ways to bring African American customs and other viewpoints into class discussions. • 7. Kidney Transplants Kidney transplants have been known since 1954 when it was first performed at Brigham Woman s hospital in Boston. Although technology and technique involved have improved, the waiting list for a kidney transplant (which is the most common transplanted organ) continues to increase. In 2012 there were 95,000 individuals waiting for a transplant yet only about 16,500 transplants were performed that year. Introducing a new system that offers compensation for people who give up their organs is what some believe the most effective way to decrease the waiting list. Individuals waiting on a transplant and their family members endure many hardships such as; the high cost of the transplant, hardships of dialysis, and reduced life expectancy.Individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paying someone $15,000 for a kidney will save money and time based solely on common sense. Even if this new system only increases organ donations by a small percentage the overall outcome will be a lot better then what it is now. Although this system seems practical and efficient, to many it is immoral. Paying individuals $15,000 for a kidney would ultimately save the recipient about $330,000 and an improved liberalized lifestyle. In a transplant the recipient of the kidney is the only person receiving a tangible benefit. If the person who donates receives compensation in return this individual will also benefit financially. The word donation is defined as an act or instance of presenting something as a gift, grant, or contribution . Taking this definition into account the idea of organ donations would be nonexistent. The article presents the fact that the waiting list is getting larger and larger due to the lack of donations. Setting up a capitalist market for body parts may in no doubt increase the donations yet, who are the people that will be selling their organs? The less wealthy therefore implementing a system in which the poor are working as replacement parts for the rich. Paying for organs is immoral because it treats the human body as a commodity, but is it more immoral to ignore the fact that we can possibly prevent thousands of deaths by ... • 9. Genre Theory Paper Genre theory is used in the study of films in order to categorize films. Genre are dependent on different factors such as who the director is, story line, and audience expectations (Azia, n.d). Genres are types or categories and genre films that are usually recognizable as part of a certain genre (Goodykoontz, B., Jacobs, 2014, section 4.1). To better understand genre there are several examples to look at. When watching a fantasy film we know that within the movie we will expect to see unreal, magical, or impossible situations, characters or settings often overlapping with various other genres (GoodyKoontz, 2014). In musical films you will see that the film mainly focuses on songs. Genres also have subgenres which are sub categories of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of strictly dialogue, the narrative may from time to time be advanced by characters breaking into song. Numerous subgenres exist within the musical genre from musical comedy to musical drama to animated musicals to musical documentaries and concert films (Goodykoontz, B., Jacobs, 2014, section 4.4). A scene that helps classify Snow White and the Seven dwarfs into the animated musical genre is the scene where all the dwarfs are working hard at the jewelry mine and once work gets over they walk home in a single line singing the song heigh ho heigh ho its home from work we go as they dance and skip on their walk home from work. Another scene that illustrates a musical/fantasy genre is the scene where Snow White discovers the dwarf s cabin and with help from the animals of the forest she starts to clean the house while singing whistle while you work. I m sure we would all love if our animals could help us with chores around the house but that will most likely never happen. This is a perfect example of a movie with fantasy genre. The fantasy genre has events that occur outside the ordinary laws that operate within the universe. Magic is central to the fantasy genre and fantasy stories often involve journeys and quests like the wicked queen on a quest to kill Snow White. There are three different ways that fantasy writers set up their worlds. Some films begin and end in a fantasy world, others start in the real world and a third type of fantasy is set in the real world but elements of magic intrude upon it (Dewan, ... Overview of Consumer Behavior Consumer Behavior Introduction Engel (1986) define consumer behavior as those acts of individuals directly involved in obtaining, using and disposing of economic goods and services, including the decision processes that precede and determine these acts . The present paper is a reflective journal based in which three different marketing activities have been selected and analyzed from the perspective of their influence on consumer behavior. Entry 1 The Marketing Activity This is a Rolex advertisement in which the company used Tennis Star for the marketing of their brand. Marketing through Celebrities is very common as people like them and idealize these star whether they are sports persons, actors and actresses or other celebrities. The advertisement has been compiled on the qualities of the tennis star. Thus it is not only the advertising of Rolex but also the star himself. Concepts Situational Context A situation is defined as factors or something over and above the characteristics of a person and product (Pachauri, 2002). Kakkar and Lutz (1981) pointed out that situational effects might be behavioral (for example, entertaining friends), experimental, or perceptual (for example, being depressed or being pressed for time). Therefore consumer behavior is influenced by both extrinsic and intrinsic factors (Davis and Bagozzi, 1992). A person has to really pay attention to the details to see the name. It is pretty hard to drive by and notice that there is a church on that street. In the Catholic Church that I attend, the name is pretty obvious. A person can tell that there is a church from quite a distance. In my opinion, the church did not lend itself to worship. Worship The nature of the worship facility consisted of communion and prayers of forgiveness and faith. As mass originate, the reverend, who was named Jimmy Orate, and his wife discussed many life stories with the people. This stage of the worship service lasted a good fifteen to twenty minutes. The reverend s wife spoke about an abortion that she went through before she found Christ. That abortion led to her guilt for many years. She had no kind of peace, and credits that to her past non belief in God. She felt ashamed to speak about the abortion with people, but with the faith in God and Christ, she was finally able to confront her fear until finally speaking about the issue. She managed to ask for forgiveness and was finally able to deal with herself. The message associated with this anecdote was of repentance. In order to have peace and tranquility, a person has to repent from all of past and current sins. The reverend also contributed adding the story from Psalm 3 of the Bible in which David fled from his own son Absalom . Psalm 3 reads like this:

  • 15. American Pie Is A Song That Made A Huge Impact On Americans American Pie is a song that made a huge impact on Americans in any time period. Don McLean sang about the events from the nineteen fifties through nineteen seventies after Buddy Holly s death. Many events from those years are controversial. McLean also stated how music changed from these decades. Rock n Roll used to be popular since the fifties. American Pie by Don McLean describes the transition in Rock n Roll music from the iconic history of the mid nineteen hundred. Nonetheless, many critics assume the first line of the chorus relates to McLean s relationship with the Miss America contestant. According to the Understanding American Pie website, the catchy phrase, So bye bye, Miss American Pie, refers to, the beauty queen Miss America (Fann 3). During McLean s successful career, he dated Miss America, which Americans said that she is as American as an apple pie. She represents the simplicity in American history that carried meaning. Miss America does not correlate with the theme of the song. The transformation of Rock n Roll music was impacted by different elements instead of Miss America. • 16. An Description Of An Exact Dissipation Model For Arbitrary Referee Report: Manuscript ID# OL: 280139 PAPER DESCRIPTION In the paper titled An exact dissipation model for arbitrary photonic Fock state transport in waveguide QED systems , Chen et al. have presented a dissipation model to study the Fock and coherent state transport through waveguide QED (wQED) systems. As the main novelty of their work, they have modelled the environment as a 3D scattering channel (described in a real space picture similar to the waveguide modelling) and it has been shown that a reduced Hamiltonian can be obtained for arbitrary photon number Fock state which can describe the photonic transport with a restricted eigenstate. To illustrate, one , two , N photon and coherent state examples are presented. Finally, two simple geometries of the scattering channel are considered namely the uniform medium and a slab waveguide. Authors have also very briefly pointed out the applicability of their model in cavity QED. COMMENTS AND DECISION Overall the paper has interesting findings and is systematically presented. In particular, the modelling of the environment as a non excitable 3D scattering channel, is the key attraction in this work. Moreover, the authors have made claims which seems not to be exaggerated. However, there are some points in this work which can be ambiguous to the interested reader. Therefore, I can recommend publication of this paper in the Optics Letters, provided the authors performs the following revisions: QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the British preventing the colonists rights to the separate but equal doctrine people used to justify discrimination against African Americans, America has had its fair share of it. After years of the mockery of equality that African Americans had, change was needed. Out of the thousands of voices who brought the winds of change, that were heard the most were: Martin Luther King Jr., for convincing people to join their cause; Thurgood Marshall, who used the law to get people to listen to their voices; and the Silent Majority, for without them, freedom would never truly ring from every mountainside. While King was the spokesperson, the Silent Majority were the people who really pushed for civil rights. They were the ones who did the sit ins, boycotts, strikes, and protests. The main character must focus on being the perfect wife, the perfect mother, and serve the family whenever they depended on her. Her own health and worries were her last priority. John, just like society, expects high standards for women to meet in order to belong and if they couldn t meet those expectations, then they were not respected. Not only does the main character observe the meaning behind the wallpaper, but so does her sister in law. However, it does not seem to satisfy her nor change her perspective on life either. • 19. The Hidden Meanings Within Michelangelo s The Creation Of... What are the hidden meanings within Michelangelo s The Creation of Adam? Is there significance in God and Adam s stretched hands? Several art historians analyzed this particular aspect of the fresco, and believe it to have deeper meaning; while many found significance in the nude figures next to and around God. Each interpretation came about using a different methodology, explained in detail below. While all of these interpretations are valid and offer special insight into the fresco, they are not based in objective reason. In this essay, I will explain the significance of their stretched fingers using simplified mathematics. The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo is one of the most recognizable pieces of artwork in the history of art and still today in modern times. This fresco is the fourth scene along the middle strip on the Sistine ceiling illustrating stories from the book of Genesis. This scene portrays the Biblical episode when God creates the first man, Adam. Many people recognize the image of God wrapped in cloth extending his arm and pointing towards a naked figure, Adam, who is equally extending his finger to meet God s. However, their fingers do not touch. They instead remain electrifyingly close in a way that seems as if their fingers could collide at any moment. While many people recognize the this fresco, many cannot fully understand the meaning behind Michelangelo s brushstrokes. This quote from Shakespeare is from the balcony scene when Juliet tells Romeo that his name is meaningless and that he is still a handsome young man and that only their family names are enemies. This same quote can be applied in today s society in how people address each other based on different situations, especially when addressing women. There are many different titles that can be used to address women as opposed to men, but despite the title used, the woman herself does not change. Only the meaning and stereotype associated with the title used changes. Throughout the years, the titles used to address women have slowly shifted meaning from that of a social status to that of a marital status. Erickson (2014) explains that the titles Miss and Mrs. are the oldest coined terms used to address women, and both of them derive from the title Mistress. Both titles were generally only used for those of higher power and status. Miss described young girls while Mrs. , described women who had governed subjects, was skilled, or who taught. Upon reaching adulthood, a Miss became a Mrs. , and according to the Oxford English Dictionary, it was common for older, unmarried women to still use the title Mrs. so they could increase their standing to be on par with married women. There are some sociology theorist have a more positive view on humanity and believe that humanity works best when people have relationships and more human interaction thus creating society and its regulations as we know them. There are many benefits of social cohesion, but there are also downfalls of this as well according to some theorist and these are referred to as social control. Social cohesion is when those in a social system identify with it and feel bound to support it, especially its norms, beliefs, and values. Social control is how a community or society regulates a person s behavior. Ultimately, the benefits of social cohesion outweigh the dangers of social control. Without the benefits of social cohesion, the dangers of social control would be intensified because of the lack thereof. Durkheim, Erikson, Putnam and Collins are theorists who all take a stance on the benefits of social cohesion. Some of their ideas are identical to one another or have some similar points and all connect in some way. Durkheim says that social cohesion protects people from anomie and anomic suicide. We observe exciton quenching at grain boundaries (GBs) that originate from the nucleation site at the center of WS2 flakes. With food shortages and needs for new medicine, research, and cures, it s hard to think that there could ever be a solution to these issues. Cloning could be one of the many solutions to the problems that are afflicting the world as we know it. But that has many people wondering what exactly cloning is, and, more importantly why people do it. Knowing what cloning is, why people do it, and other opinions and feelings about cloning could help us solve these issues. To clone means to create a genetic copy of another organism. Cloning depends on there being two cells, one of a female s egg, and one from an adult that is intended to be cloned. (Wilmut) There are also a variety of specific types of cloning, but two main general types: reproductive and non reproductive, also called nuclear transplantation or therapeutic cloning. ( Cloning ) Nuclear transplantation creates clones in a different way than reproductive cloning does. Nuclear transplantation starts when the cell is taken from the adult, which contains the genome of the organism that is wanted to be cloned. (Cloning: Frequently) An egg is then taken from a female, the nucleus removed, and the cell from the adult is placed into the female s egg. These two eggs are fused together with an electric current. My two primary projects throughout the summer internship were the Vulnerable Populations Project and the CYFAR Grant Program. The Vulnerable Populations Project focuses on the nine groups of youth listed above. I was tasked with researching information on each group, finding federal laws related to each specific group, and condensing the information to be posted online to the public. In addition to performing guided research, I contacted the leaders of each Vulnerable Populations Group to request further visuals or material that could be used on the (name of website) website. I also worked on the CYFAR Grant Program, which provided me with a practical overview of the federal grants process, especially development projects centered on youth. I read the project descriptions from (what group around the country?)around the country and reviewed the reported accomplishments, demographics, and funds for each project. Ultimately, I was tasked with the decision whether to approve the project or request clarification from the project directors, if the data submission was deficient. ... • 36. Revolutions In The 1820s The revolutions of the 1820s and the 1830s were based on the power struggle between liberals and conservative and motivated by liberalism and nationalism. In France, the Battle at the Rue de Rohan on July 29, 1830, occurred due to the results of the election of July 25, 1830, which created a more liberal Chamber of Deputies. This enraged King Charles X, an ultraroyalist, who wanted absolute monarchic rule. Charles X implemented the Four Ordinances which, restricted freedom of the press, dissolved the recently elected Chamber of Deputies, and called for new elections under a franchise restricted to the wealthiest people in the country. Deliberately making it so that the monarchy would have absolute control. The working class, infuriated with the Four Ordinances, took the streets of Paris and built barricades; whilst, Charles X called the troops. On August 2 Charles X abdicated the throne and was exiled in England and Louis Philippe was named King of the French, marking a shift in power from one of absolute monarchical control to a more liberal government, labeled the July Monarchy. Whereas, in the German speaking lands the Hambach Festival took place on May 27, 1832. Students marched to the Hambach castle, influenced by the French Revolution two years prior. Radical and democratic leaders led a protest that was attended by 30,000 people, they called for a republican government, rule of law, and freedom of expression. The German monarchs did not comply and did exactly the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Michelle Carter Suicide Is this the day you succumb to your problems and listen to the thoughts, or will you keep on going? These are the thoughts that were running through Conrad Roy s mind when he was texting his girlfriend. The Suicide by text case has prompted many people to discuss social issues such as mental illness and the court system. Michelle Carter was a young teenager who texted her boyfriend telling him to commit suicide multiple times. She is now facing years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. The court system failed with this case but not drastically. They gave her 2.5 years when she should have been charged as an adult and received twenty years. In June, Moniz found Carter guilty of involuntary manslaughter, describing her behavior as reckless. Carter received less years than usual because it was considered reckless and she only wanted attention. She did not get the full sentence because she was not loved as much as she felt she should have been. She should have received the full years, but this case was not as bad as others. The 2.5 year sentence is long, but not long enough for costing someone his life because she wanted attention. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. Utilizing Video Games to Achieve Open and Honest... Introduction: The topic I chose was, utilizing video games to achieve open and honest communication between parent and child. I have personal experience, as a employee of one of the largest video game retailers, GameStop, in viewing how various video games impact communication between parents and their children. There are various measures that help regulate the audience that play these types of video games. One of these measures are the use of the ESRB rating system (Entertainment Software Rating Board), which is a system that rates games for its content to help consumers understand the content for games and its appropriateness for those who will be playing those games. This system uses a M rating, for mature games, intended for an audience of those who are 17 or older. These games receive a rating of mature due to their violence, language, and sometimes, sexual content. The reason I chose this topic is its recent controversy with the video game, Grand Theft Auto V. This game is under recent scrutiny because of the ability to enact various crimes such as murder, torture, grand theft auto, and the solicitation of prostitutes. Although this is an extreme example of a violent video game, it serves as a good base of understanding as far as what is available to the public. The current question that has risen from this game is, do violent video games evoke violent tendencies in kids? I would argue no, this is not the cause for violent tendencies in kids. As well, my stance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Zombies Essay Imagine, if you will, a brisk night wind coming fast across a lake carrying a pungent smell, something you can t quite identify, but is nonetheless familiar enough to send a shiver up your spine. As it hits the trees, they creak out a somber call in the still night air. Or was that groan something more...human? You notice, for the first time, the absence of tires humming on pavement and you wonder if it s that late, or maybe just a slow night. The soft tapping of your shoes on the sidewalk is the only accompaniment your slow breathing has as you move towards the warmth of your home, holding thoughts of a warm bed in the palm of your hand to keep the chill away. You don t notice at first, perhaps because the reality of what you re hearing is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A valuable lesson you hope to pass on to the next late night pedestrian you and your new friends come across; Underestimating the potential for a zombie outbreak is a highly dangerous (and foolish) activity. Preparedness is something one can never have too much of when considering an epidemic of the walking dead. Some of the basics are: Assessing the potential for a zombie outbreak at any given time, knowing the four types of zombies and how to respond to each (an absolute must), and most importantly, you need to have a plan. Step one of the preparation is the easiest: assessing the potential of, and being on the lookout for, a sudden and massive wave of zombification. I know what you must be thinking, Zombies? No way, but I beg for your attention on this matter; it could be the difference between life and death and un death. Ruling out the more extreme, and significantly less likely, possibilities of sorcery and hell reaching its maximum seating capacity, leaves genetic mutation, viral infection, and science gone wrong as candidates. For simplicity s sake, we can boil these three causes down to a disruption of brain chemistry in one way or another. As far as the possibility of an outbreak goes, in regard to the fundamental corruption of a brain s chemical equilibrium, the risk is exponential. One piece of Mad Cow grade beef, a corn crop dusted with a carcinogenic pesticide or maybe just a simple radioactive leak into a local water supply and all of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Socrates Law Beliefs And Society Law, beliefs and society. Laws are not standard. They changes from state to state and obviously from country to country. Athenians judicial system condemned to death a man for having a different belief than theirs and in this essay I claim that Socrates acceptance of death under a failing judicial system is unvirtuous although he tries to make it seem as a virtuous and civic act. Socrates aberration for obeying the law is pointless. If he wants to be virtuous he must go against the system. He needs to continue fighting back and convince others to join his cause. Evidence will be shown from Apology and Crito to prove this claim. Resistance as civic virtue isn t death a resistance? Virtue is found in pointing out the wrong until something is done to make it right. Socrates tells Crito whether we must follow the opinion of the many and fear it or instead the opinion of the one person, if there is someone who has knowledge, whom we must defer to and fear more than all the others together (Crito 47d). He is telling us that we must follow the right path, obey the one who is right and ignore the mob but he is not that by subjugating to asthenias beliefs made laws. I consider his subjugation an unvirtuous act that shows he has just given up on his cause, he prefers not to fight back and every fleeing option suggested has already been marked as impossible. When Socrates accepts death and stops caring for the spread of his beliefs he contradicts himself from obeying the right and is following mobocracy. By saying And at the same time, I am not accustomed to deem myself worthy of anything bad (Apology 38b) Socrates is expressing that he is living a rightful examined life and if we evaluate this quotation from the cause effect point given by Socrates we can say that an examined life (cause) is worth living (effect) which leads us to the outcome that If he does not consider himself guilty of the accusations therefore he deserves to live. In both dialogues Socrates expresses little or no desire for escaping which makes me think that either he gave up on his cause or he does not want to go through the suffering of being seen as unvirtuous if he flees. His life as a fugitive from justice is not the best life a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
