The Role of the Scanning Probe Microscopy in...
Introduction:
Scanning probe microscopy in nano mechanical testing has started with the invention of the scanning
tunneling microscope in the year 1981. Till then based on the type of principles there are number of
models developed and are in use. Scanning probe microscopy found popularity owing to its ease in
versatility in dealing with a number of issues, typically it is used to identify the material properties on
nano to even pico scales. Scanning probe microscopy techniques such as atomic/friction force
microscopy(AFM/FFM) are increasingly finding applications in tribological studies of engineering
surfaces as well for finding surface texture etc. Atomic and molecular level details can be assessed
using Scanning probe microscopy with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spatial resolution used is far better than the wavelength used to create the image.
Technical overview:
Scanning tunneling microscope is the first of the series of the scanning probe microscopes. The
development of the family of scanning probe microscopes starts with the original invention of the
STM in 1981. Gerd Binning and Heinrich Rohrer developed the first working STM in IBM. The STM
works by scanning a very sharp metal wire tip over a surface. By brining the tip very close to the
surface, and by applying an electrical voltage to the top or sample, we can image the surface at an
extremely small scale down to resolving individual atoms. The STM is based on several principles.
One is the quantum mechanical effect of tunneling.
It is this effect that allows the viewer to visualize the target surface. Another principle is the piezo
electric effect. It is this effect that allows us to precisely scan the tip with the angstrom level control.
Lastly a feedback loop is required, which monitors the tunneling current and co ordinates the current
and the positioning of the tip.
Principle:
Tunneling current occurs when electrons move through a barrier that they classically should not able
to move through. In classical terms if you don t have enough energy to move over a barrier you won t.

Amy Tan And Firoozeh Dumas Essay
In contrast, Amy Tan and Firoozeh Dumas struggled with accepting their culture. Tan s parents
emigrated from China and settled in Oakland, California. She grew up in a Chinese culture and has
struggled to accept it. Her family customs and physical appearances have made Amy feel different
from Americans. On Christmas Eve Tan s mother invited Robert, Amy s crush, and his family for
dinner. Amy was horrified when she found out that her mother invited Robert and his American
family. She thought they would be disappointed with the food her mother prepared, the Chinese
Christmas decorations and her loud and unsuitable mannered relatives. Throughout the dinner, Tan s
relatives displayed inappropriate behaviors that threw her off. Their behavior was inappropriate that ...

These kinds of behaviors are what caused Amy to think of changing her culture and become more
American. Unlike Amy Tan, Firoozeh Dumas struggled with identity. Moving from Iran with her
family, Dumas has struggled with teasing and bullying because of her. Dumas s name Firoozeh means
Turquoise in Farsi. While living in the US, ignorant people have made fun of Firoozeh s name. In the
essay The F Word, Dumas narrates about the struggles of having a different name that s always
pronounced wrong because ignorant Americans refuse to learn it. She also talks about how her
brothers and friend suffered with this too. Dumas not only struggled with ignorant people not
pronouncing her name right, she could not get a job. When she was young, Dumas decided to change
her name to Julie. Having an American name changed everything for her. Students at her school began
to recognize her and invite her to social gatherings. Once she got to college, Dumas changed her name
back to Firoozeh. But that became a problem after she graduated because she could not find a job.
After three months of rejections, I added Julie to my

Determine The Identity Of An Unknown Weak Acid Lab Report
Determining the Identity of an Unknown weak acid (Vernier)
Formal Lab Report
Kelli McWatters
August 7, 2017
Chem 1121
Dr. Reed
Objective:
Observe and measure a weak acid neutralization and determine the unknown identity of an unknown
acid by titration.
Introduction:
Within an acid base titration the titration curve resembles the strengths of the corresponding acids and
bases. A strong acid will correspond with a weak conjugate base, and a weak conjugate acid will
correspond with a strong base. This is based on the Bronsted Lowry model. The weak acid will donate
protons to the hydroxide ion. Weak acids will have a low Ka value, the Ka value is the tendency of the
acid to dissociate: Ka= [H+] [A ] [HA] Ka is the acid dissociation constant and [HA] is the
concentration of the weak acid . Strong acids usually completely dissociate and has a Ka value greater
than 1. Weak acids don t dissociate completely and have a Ka value much smaller than 1. pKa values
are often used for weak acids due to being able to work with whole numbers pKa = log Ka During a
titration the pH of the solution will be monitored using a pH meter from that we get a titration curve.
The titration curve is then used to determine the equivalent molecular weight and Ka value of the
unknown weak acid, from that we are

The Role Of Poetry In The Bard By James Thomson And Thomas...
The role of the poet is constructed through various means within the poetry of the eighteenth century.
This essay shall James Thomson and Thomas Gray in their construction of the role of the poet.
Thomson s Spring conveys the role of the poet as being multifaceted. Contrary to this, Gray
establishes the role of the poet as one of isolation and being an outsider whilst expressing anxiety over
the declining role of the poet, as seen in The Bard . To begin, this essay shall examine the forms used
by the poets. Thomson makes of the Miltonic blank verse. By doing this, the role of the poet is
conveyed as multifaceted as a range of subjects are discussed. Gray uses the form of the Pindaric ode
in order to establish the idea of the poet being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ode was considered to create distance between the poet and the audience (Zionkowski, pg334).
This is conveyed through the emotional complexity of the ode. The ode works in the genre of both
eulogy, as the bard is in mourning, and exulting through the victory of the bard in the end. However,
the reader is unable to sympathise with the bard figure which creates a distance between both reader
and poet. The emotion is more than mourning. The poet is mourning over the loss of his own
community, the Welsh bards, and is the last of his kind. The reader is unable to connect emotionally
with the bard as the reader has not experienced this type of loss. Thus distance is created, leading to
the poet being isolated. This then aids in turning the audience into a passive object much like Edward
and his army is passive in the bard s prophecy (Zionkowski, pg345). Thus, the role of the poet
becomes one of distance from the readership, placing the audience as being passive. Thus through the
form, the role of the poet is constructed. By placing themselves in a literary tradition, Thomson and
Gray highlight a deep lineage the poet has. The role of the poet, therefore, is part of a larger history
and tradition. Furthermore, Thomson is able to construct the role of the poet as being multifaceted as
the freedom of the Miltonic blank verse allows him to cover various subjects. The use of Pindaric ode
creates distance between the poet and reader. This is due to the deep emotional complexity of the
subject matter which the reader cannot sympathise with. Thus, the audience is kept at a distance,
unable to interact with the text. The poem is then only author centered (Zionkowski,

How Do Oil Sands Affect Canada
There is a huge debate if the oil sands of canada are affecting canada positively or negatively. The
social and community improvements are a result of the oil sands in alberta. The economic benefits are
another positive that the oil sands bring. Finally the direct and indirect jobs created in the oil sands are
a huge benefit to canada. The oil sands are one of the best things that happened to canada.
The social community improvements of alberta as a result of the oil sands. The albertan government
committed around 2.5 billion dollars in fixing up the communities of alberta as a result of the oil sands
making so much money(Alberta government, march 15 2013). Some examples of this are the 1 billion
in road projects, 241 million in building new neighbourhoods, and 103 million in wastewater
treatment and to improve the old ones(Alberta government, march 15 2013). Air is rated good 99% of
the time, drinking water consistently meets the the guidelines for canadian drinking water(Alberta
government, march 15 2013). Which means the quality of life is good in the oilsands region. In

Analysis Of Chasing Cpt And Leading The Sioc Testing At Cha1
Project Summary
I worked on many small projects this summer. However they can be summarized as follows: building
tools to improve quality and efficiency in the pack department; analyzing our process of chasing CPT
s and leading the SIOC testing at CHA1. I was able to build 3 tools, a Pack Head Count Macro
(Appendix A B), a Pack Rate Puller Macro (Appendix C D), and a Planning Board for Outbound
Macro (Appendix E F) all of these tools were created to be used on Day and Night Shift. I was able to
analyze the process of chasing CPT s using two methods, a profitability analysis and analyzing the
rates of packers. Finally, I helped start up and run SIOC testing at our site. To show the effectiveness
of the three tools I have created, I will explain how the process worked before the tool I created,
describe how my tool works, and then detail how it changed the process, for each tool. The analysis of
chasing CPT s I will first talk about our current CPT chasing program, then walk through my two
analyses. Then I will discuss how I set up SIOC testing, how I ensured it would continue running
successfully and the plan I have put in place to ensure it continues effectively once I leave. Then I will
talk about the benefits of each project. Finally, I will wrap up with a conclusion and
acknowledgements.

Prior to my macro being used, process assistants (PA) would regularly call out for head counts. They
will call out to each process guide (PG) for a head

Reasons For Pe Being An Important Part Of The National...
The foundation subjects in the national curriculum comprise of history, geography, modern foreign
languages, physical education (PE), religious education, art and design, citizenship, computing, design
and technology and music (DFE 2013, p7).
All the foundation subjects have a place on the National Curriculum; however, for the purposes of this
essay we will be focussing on the reasons for PE being an important part of the National Curriculum.
The National Curriculum (DFE 2013, p5) states that every state funded school must offer a curriculum
which is balanced and broadly based and which promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and
physical development of pupils at the school and of society and, prepares pupils at the school for
opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life .
It aims to give children the knowledge that that they need to be educated citizens and gives an outline
of the core knowledge around which teachers can develop exciting and creative lessons to promote
pupils knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum (DFE 2013, p6).
The key aims of PE on the national curriculum focusses on a healthy lifestyle developing competence
across several physical activity areas and for children to be active for sustained periods of time and
encouraging children to engage in competitive activities and sports (Smith 2014. P213).
At Key Stage 1 the national curriculum states that pupils should develop fundamental

Personal Choice Is A Priority --
Sujan Basnet Personal choice is a priority Euthanasia
Organized disciplines of modern society, namely organized medicine, as well as the judicial and
legislative bodies, which were constituted upon the ethical traditions of Western Civilization by
longstanding convention, forbid the practice of active euthanasia on moral and ethical grounds. Quite
simply, one human being shall not kill another. This is the command that has been handed down to
humanity. One of the chief arguments supporting legalization of euthanasia, is that built upon the
concepts of individual free will, autonomy and the right to exercise them. However, the elevation of
these rights of the individual above those of the greater social group are a concern. The concern which
arises, is that institutions which would exercise the free will of an individual, on a populace of
individuals who are terminally ill, might lose track of the elusive quality of freedom as it relates to
will, and implement someone else s will upon an unwilling individual, or upon an entire group for that
matter. Western Civilization is breaking down under the corrosive influence of radical subjectivity and
individualism. Freedom is divorced from truth and all authority above the individual is denied. (Moler,
1997) Thereafter, all truth is reduced to subjective relativism as it regards

Summary Of Accuracy In Island Of The Blue Dolphinss
Accuracy in Island of the Blue Dolphins Accuracy varies depending on the purpose by which an
author writes a story. Some authors may choose to base their story purely on facts, some may stick to
being entirely fictional, and the rest pick and choose facts and fiction. Island of the Blue Dolphins
entails the journey of a young native girl, Karana, who becomes stranded on her home island until her
eventual rescue. This story in particular is based on that of a Nicoleno woman, the Lone Woman.
However, facts were left out regarding what happened in real life. In Island of the Blue Dolphins, the
author, O Dell, inaccurately depicts the Lone Woman s situational, historical, and archaeological
relevance. O Dell undermines the Lone Woman s relevance in terms of the situations Karana, the main
character, faces throughout Island of the Blue Dolphins. Karana watches her father die , which is an
aspect O Dell created to develop his story and is not historically evident. O Dell s personal views of
what a mother should be affected the accuracy of his story because he felt that a mother should not
forget her child . This explains why his book shows how Karana returned to the island for her brother
instead of being like the Lone Woman who returned for her child. O Dell even makes up the concept
of public and secret names , which furthers his inaccuracy because this shows that he added the names
as an element to build on the symbolism. Even more so, Captain Baranov s offer of trade goods

the Supreme Court. I believe that the death penalty should be abolished everywhere in America. I

How To Write An Essay About The Holocaust

Everyone looks at the Holocaust as just a time in history to be remembered. That was exactly my

the past and bad things that have happened, I think everyone needs to take a few minutes just to

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is something that has plagued the military for years. Coined as Shell
Shock during World War I, symptoms included fatigue, tremor, confusion, nightmares and impaired

symptoms can quickly turn life altering. Many things can strike a PTSD flashback, an unexpected loud

to the Department of Veterans Affairs, over 1.8 million men and women have deployed in support of
the War on Terror, and since it s begging, over 300,000 service members have been treated for Post

The Crisis Of The United States Of America
During the mid 2000s, the global economy was impacted by one of the biggest financial catastrophes:
the subprime mortgage crisis. The housing market in the United States of America was on the decline
and it indirectly affected Canada. This case study will provide an overview of what happened before,

From the data discovered based on the increase of technology, it provided an understanding of the
traditional process of being granted or providing loans and mortgages. Banks traditionally grant loans
to individuals or businesses that meet specific credit requirements and would receive periodic
payments. This process continues until the loan is fully paid off. Due to the increase in technology,
banks were able to lower their costs for transactions by securitizing loans electronically. This
innovation allowed them to bundle up all small loans into a standard debt security, which then could
be bought and sold in the financial market. This led to a structured credit product offering that
generated large cash flows from a collection of underlying assets with certain risk management.

Deforestation And Its Effects On The Environment
Background Webster dictionary defines deforestation as the action or process of clearing of forests. It
occurs when humans desire to make use of land covered by forest for other purposes. This clearing of
tree is concerning due to the fact that trees are being cut down at a rate much greater then they can
grow back. This is called overshot, and can have a devastating impact on the environment. There is an
estimated loss of 18 million acres of forest each year. That is roughly equivalent to the size of the
country Panama. That is equivalent to a loss of 36 football fields of forest every minute. This leads to
the destruction of the habitats of thousands of animals, and plays a huge role in climate change.
Deforestation is believed to be the leading cause of climate change, contributing 1.6 billion tons of
greenhouse gases, roughly 30 percent, of annual greenhouse gas emissions. This is a global issue,
however usually tropical rainforests are targeted. Countries with the most significant deforestation
include Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the most deforestation is
Indonesia. In the last century, Indonesia has lost 16 million hectares of forest. The World Resources
Institute estimates that most of the world s remaining indigenous forest is located in Canada, Alaska,
Russia and the Northwestern Amazon basin. Deforestation has been happening since the beginning of
civilization. Scientists estimate that half of the world s tropical forests

The Crucifixion In Mel Gibson s Film The Passion Of Christ
Mel Gibson s movie, The Passion of Christ, is a film based on the final hours of Jesus life. After
watching the film it can be concluded that there is an unambiguous portrayal of Jews being
responsible for Jesus death. There is no question throughout the film about who is responsible for the
crucifixion because of the nasty portrayal of the Jewish people and Roman soldiers. At every
opportunity, Gibson s reinforces the notion that the Jewish high priest and the Jewish followers are the
ones ultimately responsible for the Crucifixion through the language and wording used and the
constant display of their hatful actions towards Jesus, for those reasons the film is anti Jewish.
In the interview with Diane Sawyer, Gibson was asked if he was ... Show more content on

The bad Jews are the high priests and the other Jews in the mob, clearly yelling hateful slurs at Jesus,
however, the good Jews consisted of Mary, John, the other woman and their followers. Arguable, the
groups of good Jews are those who are though as models in Christianity today. The problem with
Gibson use of stereotypes is any viewer who has little to no background in the gospels or
understanding of the crucifixion, will see the Jewish people has completely involved in Jesus final
hours of being tortured and murdered. Also having a negative approach towards the Jewish people in
the film will also push any induvial who already blames the Jews for Jesus death even further, creating
more anti sematic movements.
In creating the movie Gibson, being a biblical literalist, picked parts from all four gospels, which
allowed for more options in shaping the film because each gospel has a similar but different view.
Gibson also used outside research to help the film. By doing so, he over exaggerated the anti Jewish
portrayal using material based on the mystical visions of, Anne Catherine Emerson, a nun who is
known for being anti Jewish. The parts Gibson choose contained anti Jewish lines, creating an anti

The King Of The Franks Essay
Sabrina Fearon
History 8G
4/14/16
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.
William Shakespeare
Do you agree/disagree/partially agree that Charlemagne was an example of all three?
Clovis, king of the Franks, established the Merovingian Empire in 481. Then, in 511, he split his
empire between his four sons. The kings in the Merovingian line continued to hand down their thrones
to their later generations, which slowly started to make them weak. This was because they were using
nepotism instead of giving positions based on merit. So, after time, positions called Mayors of the
Palace were formed. Mayors of the Palace, according to the dictionary, were people of a line of
hereditary administrative lieutenants to the Merovingian kings who eventually took over royal
function and title in the Frankish kingdoms . Over time, the descendants of Clovis became to be
known as Do Nothing kings , because they relied on the Mayors of the Palace to do work. The Do
Nothing kings began to have virtually no power, but they still held on to their title as king. One of the
most famous Mayors of the Palace was Charles Martel. His son, Pepin became the Frankish king.

Lucy, The Gem Of Ethiopia

Period 4
Lucy, the Gem of Ethiopia
Introduction
As humans we strive to learn about our past, present, and future. It doesn t matter where you live or
who you are; you have that urge, that indescribable feeling, to know who you are and where you came
from. The best place and probably the most well known place to discover the past is Africa, which
harbors one of the biggest archaeology sites in the world the Great Rift Valley. Archaeology in Africa
is divided into two groups. One is the study of ancient civilizations like Egypt or the Mali Empire. The
other is finding human origins and how we evolved from primitive mammals. We have fossil records
of humans that date back millions of years which tell us of ancient humans and our evolution to
become homo sapiens. The most famous of these pre humans is Lucy or Dinkenesh which is the
Ethiopian word for she is wonderful.
Who is Lucy?
Named after the Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky without Diamonds, Lucy is an ancient, fossil of
australopithecus afarensis, one of our predecessors. Lucy is 40% of fossilized skeleton of a three foot
six, fifty pound female who roamed the Great Rift Valley 3.2 million years ago. Lucy s male
counterparts were 5 feet and around 105 pounds. This difference in size between the males and
females is called sexual dimorphism and it happens in a lot of ancient and modern animals. Lucy was
found in Hadar (a dig site) 217 miles away from Addis Ababa the capital of Ethiopia. Donald

The Safety Act Of The Stadium And The Facility Safety
Goal: Facility Safety In order to ensure the safety of everyone in the stadium and the facility, we have
identified multiple potential vulnerabilities and steps to prevent a cyber attack that leads to harm to
any person in the stadium or the stadium. Although the SAFETY Act prevents an entity from being
held liable in the event of a terrorist attack, including a cyber terrorist attack, we believe it is in the
best interest of the stadium to accept the following recommendations. This allows the stadium to create
a safe and positive experience for all attendees. These recommendations include responses to potential
vulnerabilities such as emergency systems, power grids, and electronic displays. Emergency Systems
We believe that the emergency systems in stadiums are a vulnerability. One of the main areas of
concern are the alarms in stadiums. If hackers are able to infiltrate the computer networks, there is a
possibility of them being able to get access to the alarm management network and disable all of the
alarms in a stadium. This could prove to be disastrous in the case of an actual emergency because
there would be no way to notify attendees to evacuate the stadium, go on lockdown, or take any other
precautions necessary in the case of an emergency. In order to prevent this, we propose that all
stadiums keep all operating systems up to date. By doing so, this lessens the number of flaws in the
operating system that can be taken advantage of by hackers to infiltrate

Bartleby The Scrivener Conflict Essay
Bartleby is described as downright unemotional. He wrote noiselessly, weakly and mechanically, at
first when he wrote. He is also described as someone who is almost nonexistent. The narrator s
problems with his other employees have to do with their undependability, messiness and changing
tempers. Turkey and Nippers are quite the contradictory of Bartleby, The main conflict that Bartleby
the Scrivener presents is an internal problem. The narrator cannot deal with someone who appears to
be invalid of any human features and characteristics. Ah, Bartleby! Ah, humanity! is the closing
sentence in Melville s short story Bartleby the Scrivener. With this, the author may mean that it is of
human nature to have faults, however losing the ability to emote and connect with one s surrounding
world is possibly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning, Bartleby arrives at the narrator s law practice, seeking employment as an answer to
an advertisement the lawyer had placed. Bartleby gets hired and immediately gets to work. Everything
starts very well with Bartleby copying and writing papers by daylight and candlelight. Nothing too
weird unveils the situation, and even though Bartleby is mysteriously discreet, the narrator finds this a
relief, compared to the unconventionalities of his clerks Nippers and Turkey. After Bartleby s arrival,
business seem to go on as usual for a little while, at least. In the third day Bartleby has been a solid
employee until he says prefers not to examine a paper with the lawyer, who is also the owner of the
law firm, refusing to obey the order. Everyone is puzzled except for Bartleby himself. Right after that,
Bartleby continues to repeat he prefers not to and becomes almost like a slogan for him. He continues
to prefer not to do anything but copy documents, even when the smallest favors are asked of him.
Eventually, Bartleby just stops working at all. This gives the lawyer reason to fire him, which he
attempts to

Leading Effective Change
Drawing on theory and practice from the programme on leading effective change, critically review
your style of working with others, and consider how your approach to thinking and acting has affected
your impact in your work. What have you learned about leading effective change? The real voyage of
discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes [Proust, 1932] Introduction It
is difficult to fully convey the knowledge and skills I have acquired over the past 11 months, and the
increase in awareness of both my strengths and weaknesses that I have gained. Before participating in
the Darzi Fellowship, my major focus was to fulfil the requirements for a good consultant post. My

Had I taken the time to consider all stakeholders, appreciate the value of their knowledge, and involve
them in design and implementation of innovations, there may have been a more positive environment
for change, and enhanced ownership and sustainability of any new initiatives. We have no choice but
to invite people into the process of rethinking, redesigning, restructuring the organization. We ignore
people s need to participate at our own peril. If they re involved, they will create a future that already
has them in it. We won t have to engage in the impossible and exhausting tasks of selling them the
solution, getting them to enroll, or figuring out the incentives that might bribe them into compliant
behaviours. [Wheatley et al, 1996] Following these incidents I established a forum for all OPD staff
members to discuss issues which they felt required change and that would impact the operation of the
department. There was a two way communication stream between this group and my subgroup, with
different members attending the meetings and feeding back each week. Increased involvement of all
staff in the development of change made them feel more appreciated by the organisation. This
improved morale and providing an invaluable source of information regarding how we might further

The Evolution Of The Music Industry
History From the invention of first recording device in 1877 to cassettes to digital recording in 1987 to
MP3 in 1990 and to iTunes in 2003, the music industry has become an important global industry in
last 50 years. The evolution of the music industry has given a boom to the economic activity in many
geographical scales. Technological development has been playing an effective role for the evolution of
the music industries. Looking back at the success of these music businesses, it used to be all about fun,
dignity, entertainment and business. There were no issues regarding our social and cultural values nor
there were any piracy issues. But gradually with the evolution of the music industry, it has also
challenged our social and cultural boundaries. Current issues and legislation The product of the music
industry has also been an effective tool for communication. It holds the potential to convey an
emotion, tell a story or act as a medium for celebration. The impact of music can be felt in almost
every aspect of life, because we listen to it on our daily life. In like manner, music and the music
industry also play a significant role in communicating its social norms. These ideals have challenged
political and religious ideologies, social and cultural boundaries, and individual and gender rights.
Unlike the old ethical principles, these days they have regulated their own set of ethical principles in
this industry. Nowadays, these business functions through power, lies,

Critique Of Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant was born on April 22, 1724 in Königsberg, Prussia where he stayed all of his life
(which is now Kaliningrad, Russia). Immanuel Kant was one of the most influential philosophers in
the history of Western Philosophy. His contributions to metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and
aesthetics have brought an impact on most philosophical movement that followed him.
He was the fourth oldest of 9 children in a family of artisans. He was originally named Emmanuel but,
after learning Hebrew he changed his name to Immanuel . In his youth, Kant was a solid,
unspectacular student. The family belonged to the Protestant sect of the Pietists, and Kant went to a
Pietist school. The emphasis on reason in Kant s philosophy is sometimes interpreted as a reaction
against his religious education.
Kant was only 5 feet tall, and very thin when reached old age which he attributed to his strict daily
routine. He got up at 5 o clock every day and spent the next hour drinking tea, smoking his pipe and
meditating. From 6 to 7 o clock, he prepared for lectures he gave at home until 9 o clock. He then
worked in his study room until 1 o clock and spent the next three hours dining, usually with his
friends. After his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mozart Was Born Into A Society Where Nobility Ruled, And
Mozart was born into a society where nobility ruled, and the noblemen had the privileges and freedom
that came with such a title. Consequently, Mozart learned at a young age that to become a sough after
musician meant playing to the dignitary s hand. As a result, Mozart quickly found favor in Vienna and
across Europe, which led to many successful Opera Buffas. Many see Mozart as the turning point in
opera with his most famous Opera Buffas, Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Cosi fan tutte.
Comedy gave him full scope, and in Figaro he had the advantage of a libretto which was already a
famous product of consummate stagecraft before it ever became and opera...while Beaumarchais s

CHAPTER 1
Background of the Creators
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Mozart was born in Salzburg on January 27, 1756, to Leopold Mozart and
Anna Maria Mozart. He was the seventh of seven children. Wolfgang and his sister Maria (the fourth
of seven children) were the only children that survived. Mozart s father, Leopold was a musician who
oversaw Mozart and his sister s education. He took Wolfgang and Maria on his many traveling tours
and introduced them to this wide circle of friends and acquaintances, some of which were Salzburg
nobility and the archbishop. Mozart is known for being a musical prodigy, learning to play the piano at
age four and composing his first piece at five in 1761. In 1761 Leopold took his son on tour and had
his first public performance at Salzburg University. He went on to play for many noted figures in
Munich and Vienna in 1762. The tour in Vienna was a great success and when the family returned to
Salzburg in 1763 Leopold was promoted to deputy Kapellmeister. In June of 1763 the Mozart family
went on a three and a half year journey to Germany, France, the Low Countries, England and
Switzerland. After this the family went on five more tours

Flaws In Volleyball Research Paper
The girls who played volleyball in the clip, are decent players, however there are some significant
flaws in their gameplay. The first aspect that needs work is their teamwork. Their teamwork and lack
of communication is poor, as the girls bumped into each other, and never set the ball for their team
mate to spike. To improve this, name calling should be suggested if you are going to go for the ball, as
this would minimise players running into each other. Another way to improve teamwork is if strategy
was involved. There is no strategy placed in the game, as shown in the clip. The plays of the ball had
only one concept: To get the ball to the other side. There were no sets, leading to no spikes. If the girls
planned who would set to who, and

The Hero with a Thousand Faces
Prologue The Monomyth
Myth and Dream
Myths are universal and transcendent through time; many ancient myths are seen recreated in modern
times. The author uses Oedipus as a way of comparing myth to psychology. Dreams have also played
a major role in civilization; the people who could interpret dreams can understand and create myths.
Dream is the personalized myth (19).
Tragedy and Comedy People have always been fascinated with the tragedy and death of others.
Tragedy is the realizing of the ultimate truth of life, and comedy is finding the joys of life. Mythology
can stem from both tragedy and comedy.
The Hero and the God The author uses the story of the Buddha to state the journey a hero has to go
through to achieve their powers/ability. The hero leaves his environment, learns or develops, and then
returns to spread what he loved. All hero stories follow the same guidelines.
The World Naval
The World Naval is the birthplace of everything important in the hero story; it is the center point of the
world. It can either create of destroy life and is often represented by a special symbol.
PART ONE
Chapter 1 Departure
The Call to Adventure
The call to adventure is a big change, often by accident. After the change, the herald tells the hero
about their adventure.
Refusal of the Call
The hero refuses the adventure but becomes trapped either psychologically, or physically. They

Application Of The Personality Theories Developed By Erik...
Application of the Personality Theories Developed by Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell
Personality is made up of the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a
person unique. It arises from within the individual and remains fairly consistent throughout life
(Cherry, 2014). My personality is influenced from my specific circumstances, my upbringing, and it is
represented best through the theorists of Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell.
In specific circumstances my behavior changes, I am introverted, and quiet with new people for
example. In large groups of people I stick to my friends and remain quiet. In the instance that I know a
good majority of the people that I am around, I am outgoing. Generally, I don t associate with new
people, and when I do am reluctant to share with them. As a result of my inability to open up to new
people, I ve failed to acknowledge my feelings altogether as well. For the most part I lack a father
figure within my life, but I have accepted this reality. Comparatively my brother has played the male
role. My mom and I for the most part share a complex relationship, but it is a strong relationship all in
all.
My upbringing and circumstances are responsible for my personality. I was born in Allentown,
Pennsylvania. Up till now I have never moved, but my brother and I grew up with two homes. My
brother is only three years older than me, so we often related like peers. As a result of my parent s
divorce, I ve grown up

My Village Life
Growing up in the city of Lagos Nigeria where everything is immensely distinct in comparison with
parts of the country with a fast pace flow of things, with people from every ethnic group and religion
you could never feel isolated in Lagos it almost reminds me of New York City vibe filled with
clustered building and congested with an abundance of people. One evening we received news that we
would be heading to the village to visit family and at last go, to the farm we heard so much about my
dad is from the village known as IVIUKHUA which is located in Edo state nicknamed the heartbeat of
Nigeria. See compared to the city life the village life was rough but my grandparents seem to love it
and I remember visiting them ever so often you know you know you were in the village once you start
to notice the absence of electricity poles that alone gives you an idea of what a day to day would be in
the village. The village consisted of several walking distance towns and villagers tend to spend their
everyday lives tending to their crops in farms. I learned so much in such a short time at the farm
It was a lovely Sunday morning on August 7, 2005 it was a much anticipated trip filled with
excitement and joy it was about six of us (my mother, father, siblings, our driver and I ) all dressed in
protective gear drenched in bug spray to prevent mosquito bites, at the time malaria was very
common. We were riding in a white Isuzu 4wd drive 2000 model pickup truck which I remember
vividly.

John Bowlby And Ainsworth Attachment Theory
Attachment I feel is a very influential element to establish from the beginning of life. As a mom it
happened the moment I found out I was pregnant. Not all moms have this feeling but what a bond I
have established with my daughter. From day one we began the journey of trust, love, and reliability. I
feel I had a lack of this bond with my mother, so I have tried to break the cycle and make it better with
my daughter.
Attachment theory was developed by a collaboration of experiments by John Bowlby and Mary
Ainsworth stretching from 1907 1990. John Bowlby feels that Attachment theory is based off the
theory that babies are born into this world with an attachment and emotional bond to one most
significant person . (Bowlby, 2007) The

Canadian Tire s Current Data Warehouse
Overview of Canadian Tire s Current Data Warehouse Gathering requirements from end users was an
important step in resolving the issues that currently exist at Canadian Tire. Gathering requirements for
a data warehouse is not the same as defining the requirements for an operational system (Ponniah, pg.
121). When you research and then develop any system, it is critical that the system produces exactly
what the users need to perform their specific tasks. CTC did not have this production for their end
users. These users typically do not understand the big picture workings of a data warehousing process.
Therefore, the help of a business analyst is critical. From the results provided in the case study, we can
agree that these requirements must be addressed:
Capacity constraints
User query times
Defined data model
Full enabling of access to enterprise data
Overview of Canadian Tire s Business Intelligence The current process for CTC to acquire BI is a
broken system. Much of the information derived, from the current data in the warehouse, was done by
FRAG, individual user groups and hired business analysts who extracted data and created reports.
This was creating a serious misallocation of resources and responsibilities throughout the company.
Shadow groups, created to complete some of the required BI tasks, were not only less efficient than an
organized strategy, but were also a security risk to CTC. With small groups taking over the
responsibility of creating BI, the

  • 2. The Role of the Scanning Probe Microscopy in... Introduction: Scanning probe microscopy in nano mechanical testing has started with the invention of the scanning tunneling microscope in the year 1981. Till then based on the type of principles there are number of models developed and are in use. Scanning probe microscopy found popularity owing to its ease in versatility in dealing with a number of issues, typically it is used to identify the material properties on nano to even pico scales. Scanning probe microscopy techniques such as atomic/friction force microscopy(AFM/FFM) are increasingly finding applications in tribological studies of engineering surfaces as well for finding surface texture etc. Atomic and molecular level details can be assessed using Scanning probe microscopy with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The spatial resolution used is far better than the wavelength used to create the image. Technical overview: Scanning tunneling microscope is the first of the series of the scanning probe microscopes. The development of the family of scanning probe microscopes starts with the original invention of the STM in 1981. Gerd Binning and Heinrich Rohrer developed the first working STM in IBM. The STM works by scanning a very sharp metal wire tip over a surface. By brining the tip very close to the surface, and by applying an electrical voltage to the top or sample, we can image the surface at an extremely small scale down to resolving individual atoms. The STM is based on several principles. One is the quantum mechanical effect of tunneling. It is this effect that allows the viewer to visualize the target surface. Another principle is the piezo electric effect. It is this effect that allows us to precisely scan the tip with the angstrom level control. Lastly a feedback loop is required, which monitors the tunneling current and co ordinates the current and the positioning of the tip. Principle: Tunneling current occurs when electrons move through a barrier that they classically should not able to move through. In classical terms if you don t have enough energy to move over a barrier you won t. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Amy Tan And Firoozeh Dumas Essay In contrast, Amy Tan and Firoozeh Dumas struggled with accepting their culture. Tan s parents emigrated from China and settled in Oakland, California. She grew up in a Chinese culture and has struggled to accept it. Her family customs and physical appearances have made Amy feel different from Americans. On Christmas Eve Tan s mother invited Robert, Amy s crush, and his family for dinner. Amy was horrified when she found out that her mother invited Robert and his American family. She thought they would be disappointed with the food her mother prepared, the Chinese Christmas decorations and her loud and unsuitable mannered relatives. Throughout the dinner, Tan s relatives displayed inappropriate behaviors that threw her off. Their behavior was inappropriate that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These kinds of behaviors are what caused Amy to think of changing her culture and become more American. Unlike Amy Tan, Firoozeh Dumas struggled with identity. Moving from Iran with her family, Dumas has struggled with teasing and bullying because of her. Dumas s name Firoozeh means Turquoise in Farsi. While living in the US, ignorant people have made fun of Firoozeh s name. In the essay The F Word, Dumas narrates about the struggles of having a different name that s always pronounced wrong because ignorant Americans refuse to learn it. She also talks about how her brothers and friend suffered with this too. Dumas not only struggled with ignorant people not pronouncing her name right, she could not get a job. When she was young, Dumas decided to change her name to Julie. Having an American name changed everything for her. Students at her school began to recognize her and invite her to social gatherings. Once she got to college, Dumas changed her name back to Firoozeh. But that became a problem after she graduated because she could not find a job. • 4. Determine The Identity Of An Unknown Weak Acid Lab Report Determining the Identity of an Unknown weak acid (Vernier) Formal Lab Report Kelli McWatters August 7, 2017 Chem 1121 Dr. Reed Objective: Observe and measure a weak acid neutralization and determine the unknown identity of an unknown acid by titration. Introduction: Within an acid base titration the titration curve resembles the strengths of the corresponding acids and bases. A strong acid will correspond with a weak conjugate base, and a weak conjugate acid will correspond with a strong base. This is based on the Bronsted Lowry model. The weak acid will donate protons to the hydroxide ion. Weak acids will have a low Ka value, the Ka value is the tendency of the acid to dissociate: Ka= [H+] [A ] [HA] Ka is the acid dissociation constant and [HA] is the concentration of the weak acid . Strong acids usually completely dissociate and has a Ka value greater than 1. Weak acids don t dissociate completely and have a Ka value much smaller than 1. pKa values are often used for weak acids due to being able to work with whole numbers pKa = log Ka During a titration the pH of the solution will be monitored using a pH meter from that we get a titration curve. The titration curve is then used to determine the equivalent molecular weight and Ka value of the unknown weak acid, from that we are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Contrary to this, Gray establishes the role of the poet as one of isolation and being an outsider whilst expressing anxiety over the declining role of the poet, as seen in The Bard . To begin, this essay shall examine the forms used by the poets. Thomson makes of the Miltonic blank verse. By doing this, the role of the poet is conveyed as multifaceted as a range of subjects are discussed. Gray uses the form of the Pindaric ode in order to establish the idea of the poet being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ode was considered to create distance between the poet and the audience (Zionkowski, pg334). This is conveyed through the emotional complexity of the ode. The ode works in the genre of both eulogy, as the bard is in mourning, and exulting through the victory of the bard in the end. However, the reader is unable to sympathise with the bard figure which creates a distance between both reader and poet. The emotion is more than mourning. The poet is mourning over the loss of his own community, the Welsh bards, and is the last of his kind. The reader is unable to connect emotionally with the bard as the reader has not experienced this type of loss. Thus distance is created, leading to the poet being isolated. This then aids in turning the audience into a passive object much like Edward and his army is passive in the bard s prophecy (Zionkowski, pg345). Thus, the role of the poet becomes one of distance from the readership, placing the audience as being passive. Thus through the form, the role of the poet is constructed. By placing themselves in a literary tradition, Thomson and Gray highlight a deep lineage the poet has. The role of the poet, therefore, is part of a larger history and tradition. Furthermore, Thomson is able to construct the role of the poet as being multifaceted as the freedom of the Miltonic blank verse allows him to cover various subjects. The use of Pindaric ode creates distance between the poet and reader. This is due to the deep emotional complexity of the subject matter which the reader cannot sympathise with. Thus, the audience is kept at a distance, unable to interact with the text. The poem is then only author centered (Zionkowski, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However they can be summarized as follows: building tools to improve quality and efficiency in the pack department; analyzing our process of chasing CPT s and leading the SIOC testing at CHA1. I was able to build 3 tools, a Pack Head Count Macro (Appendix A B), a Pack Rate Puller Macro (Appendix C D), and a Planning Board for Outbound Macro (Appendix E F) all of these tools were created to be used on Day and Night Shift. I was able to analyze the process of chasing CPT s using two methods, a profitability analysis and analyzing the rates of packers. Finally, I helped start up and run SIOC testing at our site. To show the effectiveness of the three tools I have created, I will explain how the process worked before the tool I created, describe how my tool works, and then detail how it changed the process, for each tool. The analysis of chasing CPT s I will first talk about our current CPT chasing program, then walk through my two analyses. Then I will discuss how I set up SIOC testing, how I ensured it would continue running successfully and the plan I have put in place to ensure it continues effectively once I leave. Then I will talk about the benefits of each project. Finally, I will wrap up with a conclusion and acknowledgements. The foundation subjects in the national curriculum comprise of history, geography, modern foreign languages, physical education (PE), religious education, art and design, citizenship, computing, design and technology and music (DFE 2013, p7). All the foundation subjects have a place on the National Curriculum; however, for the purposes of this essay we will be focussing on the reasons for PE being an important part of the National Curriculum. The National Curriculum (DFE 2013, p5) states that every state funded school must offer a curriculum which is balanced and broadly based and which promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society and, prepares pupils at the school for opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life . It aims to give children the knowledge that that they need to be educated citizens and gives an outline of the core knowledge around which teachers can develop exciting and creative lessons to promote pupils knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum (DFE 2013, p6). The key aims of PE on the national curriculum focusses on a healthy lifestyle developing competence across several physical activity areas and for children to be active for sustained periods of time and encouraging children to engage in competitive activities and sports (Smith 2014. Personal Choice Is A Priority -- Sujan Basnet Personal choice is a priority Euthanasia Organized disciplines of modern society, namely organized medicine, as well as the judicial and legislative bodies, which were constituted upon the ethical traditions of Western Civilization by longstanding convention, forbid the practice of active euthanasia on moral and ethical grounds. Quite simply, one human being shall not kill another. This is the command that has been handed down to humanity. One of the chief arguments supporting legalization of euthanasia, is that built upon the concepts of individual free will, autonomy and the right to exercise them. However, the elevation of these rights of the individual above those of the greater social group are a concern. The concern which arises, is that institutions which would exercise the free will of an individual, on a populace of individuals who are terminally ill, might lose track of the elusive quality of freedom as it relates to will, and implement someone else s will upon an unwilling individual, or upon an entire group for that matter. Western Civilization is breaking down under the corrosive influence of radical subjectivity and individualism. Freedom is divorced from truth and all authority above the individual is denied. • 11. Summary Of Accuracy In Island Of The Blue Dolphinss Accuracy in Island of the Blue Dolphins Accuracy varies depending on the purpose by which an author writes a story. Some authors may choose to base their story purely on facts, some may stick to being entirely fictional, and the rest pick and choose facts and fiction. Island of the Blue Dolphins entails the journey of a young native girl, Karana, who becomes stranded on her home island until her eventual rescue. This story in particular is based on that of a Nicoleno woman, the Lone Woman. However, facts were left out regarding what happened in real life. In Island of the Blue Dolphins, the author, O Dell, inaccurately depicts the Lone Woman s situational, historical, and archaeological relevance. O Dell undermines the Lone Woman s relevance in terms of the situations Karana, the main character, faces throughout Island of the Blue Dolphins. Karana watches her father die , which is an aspect O Dell created to develop his story and is not historically evident. O Dell s personal views of what a mother should be affected the accuracy of his story because he felt that a mother should not forget her child . This explains why his book shows how Karana returned to the island for her brother instead of being like the Lone Woman who returned for her child. O Dell even makes up the concept of public and secret names , which furthers his inaccuracy because this shows that he added the names as an element to build on the symbolism. Coined as Shell Shock during World War I, symptoms included fatigue, tremor, confusion, nightmares and impaired sight and hearing (Dr. Edward Jones 2012, 2). Very similar to the modern PTSD victim, these symptoms can quickly turn life altering. Many things can strike a PTSD flashback, an unexpected loud noise, and a familiar smell, pent up stress, even something such as driving down the road. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, over 1.8 million men and women have deployed in support of the War on Terror, and since it s begging, over 300,000 service members have been treated for Post Traumatic Stress. This totals approximately 18% of all returning veterans. As shocking as this number is, this only reflects the amount of veterans that have sought treatment. Many more turn to other sources to deal with their problems. Substance Abuse is a very real problem within the Armed Forces. Whether it be alcohol, prescription pills (legally obtained or illegally), or tobacco, they have made their way inside the ranks. Banks traditionally grant loans to individuals or businesses that meet specific credit requirements and would receive periodic payments. This process continues until the loan is fully paid off. Due to the increase in technology, banks were able to lower their costs for transactions by securitizing loans electronically. This innovation allowed them to bundle up all small loans into a standard debt security, which then could be bought and sold in the financial market. • 18. Deforestation And Its Effects On The Environment Background Webster dictionary defines deforestation as the action or process of clearing of forests. It occurs when humans desire to make use of land covered by forest for other purposes. This clearing of tree is concerning due to the fact that trees are being cut down at a rate much greater then they can grow back. This is called overshot, and can have a devastating impact on the environment. There is an estimated loss of 18 million acres of forest each year. That is roughly equivalent to the size of the country Panama. That is equivalent to a loss of 36 football fields of forest every minute. This leads to the destruction of the habitats of thousands of animals, and plays a huge role in climate change. Deforestation is believed to be the leading cause of climate change, contributing 1.6 billion tons of greenhouse gases, roughly 30 percent, of annual greenhouse gas emissions. This is a global issue, however usually tropical rainforests are targeted. Countries with the most significant deforestation include Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the most deforestation is Indonesia. In the last century, Indonesia has lost 16 million hectares of forest. The World Resources Institute estimates that most of the world s remaining indigenous forest is located in Canada, Alaska, Russia and the Northwestern Amazon basin. After watching the film it can be concluded that there is an unambiguous portrayal of Jews being responsible for Jesus death. There is no question throughout the film about who is responsible for the crucifixion because of the nasty portrayal of the Jewish people and Roman soldiers. At every opportunity, Gibson s reinforces the notion that the Jewish high priest and the Jewish followers are the ones ultimately responsible for the Crucifixion through the language and wording used and the constant display of their hatful actions towards Jesus, for those reasons the film is anti Jewish. Arguable, the groups of good Jews are those who are though as models in Christianity today. The problem with Gibson use of stereotypes is any viewer who has little to no background in the gospels or understanding of the crucifixion, will see the Jewish people has completely involved in Jesus final hours of being tortured and murdered. Also having a negative approach towards the Jewish people in the film will also push any induvial who already blames the Jews for Jesus death even further, creating more anti sematic movements. In creating the movie Gibson, being a biblical literalist, picked parts from all four gospels, which allowed for more options in shaping the film because each gospel has a similar but different view. Gibson also used outside research to help the film. William Shakespeare Do you agree/disagree/partially agree that Charlemagne was an example of all three? Clovis, king of the Franks, established the Merovingian Empire in 481. Then, in 511, he split his empire between his four sons. The kings in the Merovingian line continued to hand down their thrones to their later generations, which slowly started to make them weak. This was because they were using nepotism instead of giving positions based on merit. So, after time, positions called Mayors of the Palace were formed. Mayors of the Palace, according to the dictionary, were people of a line of hereditary administrative lieutenants to the Merovingian kings who eventually took over royal function and title in the Frankish kingdoms . Over time, the descendants of Clovis became to be known as Do Nothing kings , because they relied on the Mayors of the Palace to do work. The Do Nothing kings began to have virtually no power, but they still held on to their title as king. One of the most famous Mayors of the Palace was Charles Martel. His son, Pepin became the Frankish king. Pepin s son was Charlemagne. It doesn t matter where you live or who you are; you have that urge, that indescribable feeling, to know who you are and where you came from. The best place and probably the most well known place to discover the past is Africa, which harbors one of the biggest archaeology sites in the world the Great Rift Valley. Archaeology in Africa is divided into two groups. One is the study of ancient civilizations like Egypt or the Mali Empire. The other is finding human origins and how we evolved from primitive mammals. We have fossil records of humans that date back millions of years which tell us of ancient humans and our evolution to become homo sapiens. The most famous of these pre humans is Lucy or Dinkenesh which is the Ethiopian word for she is wonderful. Who is Lucy? Named after the Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky without Diamonds, Lucy is an ancient, fossil of australopithecus afarensis, one of our predecessors. Lucy is 40% of fossilized skeleton of a three foot six, fifty pound female who roamed the Great Rift Valley 3.2 million years ago. Lucy s male counterparts were 5 feet and around 105 pounds. The Safety Act Of The Stadium And The Facility Safety Goal: Facility Safety In order to ensure the safety of everyone in the stadium and the facility, we have identified multiple potential vulnerabilities and steps to prevent a cyber attack that leads to harm to any person in the stadium or the stadium. Although the SAFETY Act prevents an entity from being held liable in the event of a terrorist attack, including a cyber terrorist attack, we believe it is in the best interest of the stadium to accept the following recommendations. This allows the stadium to create a safe and positive experience for all attendees. These recommendations include responses to potential vulnerabilities such as emergency systems, power grids, and electronic displays. Emergency Systems We believe that the emergency systems in stadiums are a vulnerability. One of the main areas of concern are the alarms in stadiums. If hackers are able to infiltrate the computer networks, there is a possibility of them being able to get access to the alarm management network and disable all of the alarms in a stadium. This could prove to be disastrous in the case of an actual emergency because there would be no way to notify attendees to evacuate the stadium, go on lockdown, or take any other precautions necessary in the case of an emergency. In order to prevent this, we propose that all stadiums keep all operating systems up to date. My personality is influenced from my specific circumstances, my upbringing, and it is represented best through the theorists of Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell. In specific circumstances my behavior changes, I am introverted, and quiet with new people for example. In large groups of people I stick to my friends and remain quiet. Gathering requirements for a data warehouse is not the same as defining the requirements for an operational system (Ponniah, pg. 121). When you research and then develop any system, it is critical that the system produces exactly what the users need to perform their specific tasks. CTC did not have this production for their end users. These users typically do not understand the big picture workings of a data warehousing process.
