The short story that I will do an analysis on is the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, written by James
Thurber in March of 1939. This story centers around the hilarious and amusing daydreams of Walter
Mitty an ordinary man, who resides in Waterbury, Connecticut, with his overbearing, nagging wife
Mrs. Mitty. Throughout this short story Mitty is characterized as being a pathetic, timid man, who
daydreams to deal with situations, and conflicts that arise in his life with his wife and others he
encounters on a daily basis.

he is a famous surgeon, heroic character, who saves the day. Mitty is awakened from his daydream
only to be told by the parking attendant that he is entering the parking lot the wrong way. Third
daydream, Mitty daydreams that he is a witness in a courtroom trial, walking down the street trying to
remember the other item his wife instructed him to buy. The fourth and final daydream Mitty thinks he
s a captain in a war plane, he was awakened by his wife, Mrs. Mitty in a hotel lobby and confronted
about not wearing his overshoes, and why he hiding in that particular chair, Mitty replies to his wife

Mitty is saying to his wife, he has a mind of his own and that he can think for himself. Throughout
Mitty s babblings and day dreams, he is a weak, timid man dependent on a strong woman (Mann,
1982). Most importantly I can identify with Mitty s daydreaming not as hilarious and outrageous as
his are, but we all have a need to slip away from the hoarse realities of life and escapism in the form of
daydreaming.

The theory explained how humans tend to constantly evaluate themselves by comparing themselves to
others. As a result, one is constantly making self and other evaluations across variety of domains such

Patient safety is a major concern for all health care providers. Two areas of safety that are relevant to
my practice in an outpatient surgical center are medication errors and the electronic error reporting.
The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) is the organization that was used to
support my project. The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Initiative competency that
was chosen for my indirect clinical project (ICP) was safety. Everyone in the health care environment
wants to be kept safe. A discussion on how medication errors and the electronic error reporting affects
everyone from the staff to the community will be discussed. Safety is an integral part of health care.
Considering the Joint Commission (2015) believes patient safety is so important that it has dedicated
and entire chapter on the subject and made it free to view. Throughout this paper safety related to

We have laws that protect minors from physical abuse, but isn t the damage from secondhand smoking

Secondhand smoke is the combination of the smoke exhaled by smokers and the burning end of a
cigarette. This smoke is dangerous for children and should not be used in the car with children.
Why is Secondhand Smoking Bad for Children?
Secondhand smoking cause many defects for children as they grow up. As parents of young children
smoke in the car, these children are exposed to this secondhand smoke frequently. According to
Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Secondhand smoke causes numerous health
problems in infants and children, including more frequent and severe asthma attacks, respiratory
infections, ear infection, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). As these children group up, the
health problems resulting from the secondhand smoke exposure affects their lifestyle and future.
Children do not deserve to be exposed to such toxic things so young. They are innocent victims to
their parents bad habit and life choices. Children are vulnerable and clearly do not know what these
chemicals do to their bodies so they are defenseless against the dangers of secondhand smoke. Centers
of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also states, Secondhand smoke contains more than 7,000
chemicals, hundreds are toxic and about 70 are known to cause cancer. I believe that it is not okay to
for parents to think that exposing children to secondhand smoke is not a problem. This mentality that
there is not a problem is the problem with secondhand smoking. I am not asking parents to stop
smoking just to take is outside away from childrens developing bodies.
Secondhand smoke is dangerous to all passengers in the car. The Americans for Nonsmokers Rights
(ANR) argues, Exposing passengers, both children and adults, to secondhand smoke in the confined
space of a car is extremely hazardous. This hazard is something that can be avoided, if laws are passed

arranged as two aromatic rings connected by two double bonded nitrogen atoms (R N=N R). The two

Although they are opposite ends of the spectrum, they both must go from one extreme to the other to
get to the end of their story.
Starting with Odysseus courageous efforts he first defeats the Trojans at the battle of Troy with the
wooden horse. Much like Maximus his story begins with him winning a great war that has gone on for
years. Odysseus must use his intellect more so than his brute strength, such as when he escapes the
Cyclops. Unlike Maximus Odysseus makes the mistake right off the bat of revealing his name to the
Cyclops when he is leaving, thus he cannot return home yet because he hasn t become a nobody yet.
The reoccurring theme between the two that I see is that the must reach a certain state before the end
of their story can take place. Odysseus has to become a plain man not a war hero, and Maximus must
