The Production of Video Games Taught At School
An electronic device in which a player would control the images on the screen is known as
video games (WorldBookStudent). Video games are the basis to why some students do not do
well to school. This is because these students would get the video game addiction in which the
games would take over the lives of a kid. Is this a psychological disorder like the others stated
within the DSM IV? The answer for this is no (CRCHealthGroup). This addiction however is not
a mental disorder, but instead many students may use video games as a stress reducer by
releasing all their energy that they gain during the day on the video games. These students would
only feel that a videogame is more interesting because it would have cool graphics and most
games are multiplayer games which mean that they can play with their friends
(VideoGameAddiction). This cause would lead to the effect of where students do badly in school
because they would be too concentrated in the video games they play that they will have less time
to do any homework which will lead them to not understanding the concept within what the lesson
is about. From this adults can understand how students do not do well when they take tests and
final exams. What can people do about this situation in this case? Since some students within
school are addicted to video games, therefore the school system should provide a career pathway
on how to create and program video games because it will allow these gaming students to participate

The Sound and the Fury Essay
The Sound and the Fury
Title:
The title of this novel is The Sound and the Fury. This title is derived from one of Shakespeare s
most intriguing plays, Macbeth. Within Macbeth, Shakespeare describes life as a tale told by an
idiot, full of sound and fury. And if life is a tale told by an idiot, there is justification as to of why
Faulkner begins the book through the eyes of Benjy, a thirty three year old retard.
Author:
The author of The Sound and the Fury is William Faulkner. He grew up in Oxford, Mississippi.
After dropping out of high school, Faulkner pursued his studies at the University of Mississippi.
And he was a member of England s Royal Navy in World War I.... Show more content on

This eventually leads him to commit suicide. He is the only character in the novel who is obsessed
with honor and sexuality. And when he can t find any love from his mother, he turns to Caddy.
Quentin does not want to forget how he handled Caddy s promiscuity because he believes that if he
were to forget the entire experience would be meaningless although he is haunted by it. And in the
end, Quentin commits suicide by drowning himself in the river.
The next major character of this novel is Jason Compson. And the third section of the book is
seen through his eyes and revolves around him. From this section, the reader learns that Jason is
a selfish, demented, and emotionless bachelor who would never give in to the idea of marriage.
Jason is selfish in that he believes that he is always right and that the world should work the way
that fits him best. He is demented in that he enjoys quarreling with people. One good example of
this is when he arrives to work late in hopes that he will have the chance to argue with his boss.
And he is emotionless in that he doesn t feel for anyone and doesn t believe in love.
The next major character found in the book is Dilsey. And although the last section is from the
author s point of view, it revolves around Dilsey, the cook for the Compson family. She treats
Benjy like a normal person and assumes that his needs are the same as the rest

Regional Conflicts In Canada
Here in the United States, many people take our daily lives for granted. For which we can have
freedoms, that most of the world does not have access to. Many people around the world are not
able to do the things that we can do here. Some of them are treated differently because of where
they are from, or because of what they believe in. Some of the places that are undergoing regional
conflicts are the Xinjiang territory, Chechnya, and the province of Quebec. These problems have
been taking place for a very longtime. These issues could have been resolved, but haven t for
many different reasons. All three of these countries have faces similar problems for a very
longtime, like controlling government, language issues, and a lack of freedom for religion.... Show

In Canada, the French citizens have been treated as second class citizens. They were not allowed
to speak French in public areas in some places. Like Canada, Xinjiang was changed when the Han
Chinese began to flow in. The population of the Han Chinese when from about 300,000 to 6
million in less than 50 years. The native population, the Uighurs, went from 78 % to 45%. After this
major change, they also began to get treated differently. Xinjiang University would no long allow
the use of the Uighur language, just like how Canada did not like the use of French. The Han
Chinese took over many government jobs. The Muslims in Xinjiang needed a bigger government
representation. Chechnya also had major issues with needing more autonomy within the Russian
Federation. In Chechnya, they had independence for a while, until Russia sent in forces to make

The Amoretti, Italian For Cupids
The Amoretti, Italian for Cupids was written by the famous English Renaissance poet Edmund
Spenser in the 16th century. It is a sonnet cycle that begins with his courtship and ends with his
marriage to Elizabeth Boyle. Sonnet 64 is a blazon form sonnet with an abab bcbc cdcd ee rhyme
scheme. In this sonnet, the speaker explores the body of his lover and appreciates the scents that
it exudes. The first quatrain begins with a kiss. He leans in but doesn t complete the act.
Coming to kiss her lips, (such grace I found) Me seem d, I smelt a garden of sweet flow rs That
dainty odours from them threw around For damsels fit to deck their lovers bow rs (lines 1 4)
When he leaned in to kiss her, he thought he smelled a garden of sweet flowers lingering about.
The lovely scent given off is fit for a young lady to adorn her lover. The speaker goes on to
describe Elizabeth s features in similes, comparing them to flowers. He starts with her lips, noting
that they give off the scent of gillyflowers, also known as carnations. He goes on to portray her
ruddy cheeks comparing them to red roses. The rose, which often symbolizes love and passion,
also gives off a sense of caution with it s thorns. They also represent female virginity, beauty, and
respect which are all qualities that are attached to Elizabeth.
As he moves further along with her features, he continues, Her snowy brows, like budded
bellamours;/ Her lovely eyes, like pinks but newly spread; (lines 7 8). By saying

Japan Imperialism
Japan Within the History of Empires Japan s history has been mostly accounted as a history of a
homogeneous national entity in the post war historiography. Yet as Andre Schmid and Jordan
Sand contest, this notion is replete with problems. Not only does this interpretation gloss over
the historical fact of Japan as an imperialist and colonialist power, but it also dismisses the
dynamic embedded in history that shaped the trajectory of Japan from an empire to a nation
state as seen today. This paper will briefly discuss the question of Japan s national history and
argues for a reconsideration of Japan s historical position within the history of empires by drawing
this week s readings. There is no doubt that Japan was once an empire and an imperialist as well as
a colonialist power. James Huffman s definition of colonialismand imperialismgives a concise
account: while imperialism refers to tangible or intangible dominance and colonialism caters more
to concrete extra territories, they are not exclusive to each other. Although not until the acquisition
of Taiwan in 1895 was Japan as a formal imperialist/colonial power established, its exertion of
power in Hokkaido and Okinawa could be traced as preceding... Show more content on

As Cooper argues, the emergence of nation states is only a recent phenomenon, a result of the
permeable boundaries between empires and other types of political entities within the dynamic
world politics. The transformation from an empire to a nation state is not an inevitable result of the
European experience. Neither is the historical trajectory of Japan. Its abrupt change from a formal
empire to a state is actually a product of imperial intersections which brought about the collisions
among the empires and led to the defeat and eradication of Japan s imperialist/colonialist

Narrative Essay Strength
Once I failed, but now I am showing my strengths. There was this high school I played played for
named Central Dauphin. They were called the Rams. Before I go on, I am going to fast forward
to the end of Junior year and to the beginning of my Senior year. It was a game against Carlisle
Thundering Herd. The gamewas cold and it was the first game of playoffs. I did not start at the
time but our starting tackle got hurt so I had been thrown in there. Now take in mind my body is
ice cold and my muscles are not stretched. I then remember getting tackled from behind and feeling
some popping noises in my ankle. I was laying there afraid my football career was over. Mind you
that this was now my second ankle injury of that year. A few teammates had... Show more content

At the end of the first half someone had dove into the side of knee. I had fallen over and felt the
worst pain I had ever felt in my life. I am laying there and say to myself, I will not stay down and
give up on myself. Halftime comes along and Coach Doc pulls me to the side and said, you are
done for the night. I told him to his face, I will not be taken out as this is my last year to shine.
Nothing will stand in my way. So I finish the game and come to find out I had sprained my knee
bad. Once again I will not have nothing come in front of me this year. Our biggest game of perhaps
the whole year was against the Wilson Bulldogs. This was a game I was going to war for my
brothers that I love deeply. Second play of this game I get blindsided and my knee buckles. I felt
that pain but said no to it and got right back up and played the rest of the game. I had played a
great game and we had handed them their worst loss in many years. The moral of my story is to
never give up on yourself and the others around you just because things are not going your way. If
you give it some time they will eventually fall into your hand and then it is up to you if you want

Daniel Katz Case
Subsections (a)(1), (a)(2), (b)(4), (b)(5), and (d) of ET В§ 17 113, all illustrate that an agent s
primary obligation to a principal under a power of attorney is to act in the best interest of the
principal, i.e., Daniel Katz. Id. Were this a motion for summary judgment Martin would easily show
that he has acted constant with his obligations under ET В§ 17 113, but such is not the question
here. Rather, the material question in this matter is whether plaintiffs have pleaded facts sufficient
to show that Martin has acted inconsistent with his duties under ET В§ 17 113.
In paragraphs 35, 36, 37, and 42, plaintiffs provide an exhaustive list of demands that Lauren and
Rifkin feel are owed to them from Daniel s assets. These self serving and frankly, quite concerning
assertions fundamentally misapprehend the nature of the fiduciary relationship at issue here. In this
matter, Martin owes no duties to Lauren or Rifkin. Rather, pursuant to the power of attorney,
Martin only owes fiduciary obligations to Daniel to provide for his best interest, as Daniel and no
one else is the principal. Indeed, plaintiffs complaint is full of allegations ... Show more content on

Sociological Explanations For Gender Difference
TITLE: outline and assess sociological explanations for gender difference in patterns of crime.
What is the relationship between crime and masculinity?
Crime can be described as an act that harmful to an individual as well as the society; such acts are
against and punishable by the law. While deviance can be described as acting against social norms,
for example a boy wearing a skirt would be out of place in the society
The sex role theory states that, when young males and females are younger they socialise in
different ways, resulting in young males being more reckless and neglectful. There are several
sociologist and different versions of the sex theory. Edwin Sutherland stated that the gender
difference when it comes to socialisation is very obvious. Girls are treated with more supervision
and control, while boys are treated not as strict as the girls and are emboldened to take more risk
to be tough, which makes boys more inclined and a higher tendency of committing crimes. Talcott
parsons believes that there are clear gender roles in a nuclear family, where the father performs the
instrumental role which portrays him as a leader and provider, while the mother performs the
expressive role of providing emotional support and talking of the children.
For girls, because their female role model who is their mother is always available unlike for boys
who don t not have as much access to the male figure in their lives (the father) because traditionally
the father would be at

impact to be considered for organisation (Alon, 2004). Eventhough, as we all known, Starbucks
is a giant in coffee industry, it does not mean they can handle all the problem of capital in any

Ralph Waldo Emerson Self Reliance
In Ralph Waldo Emerson s essay Self Reliance, Emerson discusses the perception of self reliance.
Self reliance to Emerson is a concept of trusting personal thoughts and knowledge opposed to
agreeing and submitting to the preconceived notions already forced upon individuals within a
society. Even though personal beliefs and thoughts can be swayed and influenced by outside forces
if one choses to listen to superficial thoughts, I agree with Emerson that the concept of believing in
personal truths is necessary to maintain the truth and to become more self aware. As individuals
rely more on their own personal beliefs and truths, their understanding of knowledge and happiness
can be furthered, by decreasing their dependence on what other s claim... Show more content on

but I shall obey God rather than you, and while I have life and strength I shall never cease from
the practice and teaching of philosophy... (Plato 12). Socrates s point is that the he will continue to
stay firm in believing his own personal convictions and dogmas which derived from his own mind,
rather than succeeding to the government s will and listening to the single voice of the majority.
Socrates explains further that knowledge is the truth and he will continue to pursue the truth so as
not to allow the truth to become stagnant and overused as it would be if he did not question his life
further. Socrates exemplifies the model of self reliance through his decision to not only disregard
the notions of society but also in his decision to believe his own ideas and conceptions of what the
truth is. Socrates relies purely on his own personal thoughts. This concept is important because so
often humankind ignores that feeling or conviction deep within themselves. Emerson and Socrates
both strongly argue that in order to fully comprehend what truth and knowledge are, you absolutely
must fully commit yourself to the beliefs within you. Self reliance not only allows for a deeper
connection with the truth and knowledge, but also allows humankind to increase critical
examinations of current positions in

For my Life Review, I selected Mr. B.G. I chose him because he has experienced a great deal in
his life, even serving in the Vietnam War, making him an interesting interviewee. Mr. B.G was

This spontaneous psychological event is seen especially when one is confronted by death or a major
crisis, although some individuals may not be fully aware of it and may even deny that it is
happening at all. The intensity and emphasis placed on putting one s life in order is most
striking in old age. (Butler, 1963). A life review is more formal, organized and often involves
study and analysis, verses ordinary remembering which is often informal and may not involve in
depth study. According to an article entitled, Life review and reminiscence: Essential tasks for
positive aging, ordinary remembering maybe occur when looking back at old photos or even
telling stories about fun things we use to do as children. Both a life review and ordinary

obtain information about a person s life, but a life review will often include regrets or conflicts the
person previously experienced, such as not traveling more or not resolving a conflict with someone

There are several benefits and goals to a life review that include, educating the interviewer,
allowing them to see history through the eyes of people who actually lived it. Second, it is

A Separate Peace Competitive Analysis
The Role of Competition Phineas was a born athlete. Gene on the other hand was the exact
opposite. His athletic ability was close to none. The role of competition plays a large part of the
storyline in this novel, A Separate Peace. In a sense, it s what made the connection between
Phineas and Gene so strong. It also played a part in wedging a gap between Phineas and Gene.
The author made it feel as though Gene was the one that competed so fully in the pair s

of the novel, before Finny s accident, Gene felt like Finny was taking advantage of him and

In the play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Williams explores a theme of sexuality. The story focuses on

Peru Deforestation
Background The richly bio diverse Madre de Dios region of Peru is subject to heavy
deforestation due to illegal gold mining. With the large increase in gold prices between 2001 and
2010, the Thermatic Mapper on the Landsat 5 satellite revealed local deforestation was rising at
a rate of 26% per annum (NASA 2012). The forest is cleared to allow the soil to be mined for
gold. The gold is mined predominately using large petrol engine powered water pumps to blast
away the soil and into a slurry. The slurry is then pumped to the top of a sluice which are covered
in mats made from Astroturf or a similar material, which is coated in mercury. The soil is run down
through the sluice, with the gold depositing in the mercury laced mats. Alternatively... Show more

With the rise of mining in the region, the population of our village grew towards the 25000 mark
(Rodrigo 2014). The local economy was booming, there were shops, hostels, bars and gas
stations. The mining seemed to be a blessing for the area as prior to this, there was very little
income available for the local people. The recent government crackdown on illegal mining
operations and numerous raids on the district has destroyed the local economy. Gas supplies
have been cut off (Rodrigo 2014), police and army personnel came and destroyed outlying
villages and machinery. Since then the village has imploded, with most stores closing and gold
buyers leaving. Now there are only about 3000 people left in Huepetuhe (Rodrigo 2014), many
people are now trying to return to more traditional way of living, only to find the extent of the
destruction to the forest the mining has caused. The water is poisoned, which in turn has
poisoned the fish (CAMEP 2013). The land that has been mined is unusable due to soil
contamination and now is just hills and holes, it s not farmable, it s just a wasteland. The short
term gain that was the mining boom has well and truly passed, leaving a hideous environmental
scar that may never recover. Now our villagers need to travel further to source uncontaminated
food and water sources or face the risk of becoming sick, which might eventually see our traditional
home perish as it becomes harder to find the basic necessities

1.2 Venture Capital: a light of hope for the SMEs
Venture capital(VC), which is known as the risk investment, shows significant role in promoting
the SMEs in raising finance. VC includes business angel financing, relationship lending and so
on. All of them are good choices for SMEs, specifically for the small and medium companies
which are just starting up.(Dagogo, 2009) Venture capital is the fuel for high potential growth
firms, especially in the United States. New venture survival is tenuous at best, but those backed by
venture capitalists tend to achieve a higher survival rate than those that are not. said by
Robert(2010), moreover, in his study shows survival for venture capitalists backed ventures range

Sexism In Rap Music
Sexism in rap music When sexism first came to thought there was this idea that women were
worth less than men. Women had little to no rights to call their own, they were often viewed as
the wife and mother who takes care of their children and husband who she feeds , does laundry ,
and cleans right after. On the other hand there are men who work and provide money to pay for
bills and is the head of the family. It wasn t until the 19th century when women decided to start
campaigns for women to have more jobs available to them and an increase of salary because
females seemed lesser than men, and also had an influence on women to start movements to put
an end to prostitution and sexual violence. Although sexism developed since then, there is much
to be done because theres discrimination roaming everywhere such as music. It is common today
to believe that music can be harmful, although many believe it does no harm at all and actually
influences people for good. Sexism has been highly presented in today s rap music and videos ,
offending both genders in aggressive and provocative ways, It has been used to discriminate others
based on their sex . Sexism in youth culture is common; however, it reaches points that we are yet
not prepared to handle without ending up with consequences. Women face many challenges daily,
and sometimes its too difficult to handle and we just need break and listen to music. There is one
problem though, sexism is also in music.

Water Fluoridation Case Study
In the first case, we are presented with the fact that water districts are required by law to report their
fluoridation test results to the state. The fact that they are monitoring the fluoridation levels of the
municipal water supply and are also sending these results to be included in the CDC evidence the
fact that the water district works to enforce laws and regulations that protect and ensure safety
(AAPHD, 2006). Additionally, the water districts are working to diagnose and investigate health

Body Ritual Among The Nacirema Summary
Prompt #1 Horace Miner s Body Ritual among the Nacirema was a very entertaining essay. The
essay made made fun of American culture without directly stating the name of the culture, other
than including the word American spelled backwards. Miner bring to the reader s attention the odd
rituals practiced in America that the normal citizen would not find strange at all. However, by
presenting his essayin this form he shows how strange American customs are from the view of
someone in a different country. Miner begins his essay by describing the American culture as if
it were a tribe. Although he does so secretly, Horace Miner does state that the tribe is located
between Canada and Mexico. He then states that they have a developed market, yet they re main
concern is on the body. He then goes on to talk about the ritual areas in the homes on the
Nacirema people, bathrooms, where the people practice they re odd rituals. He does not use
direct terms for the medicine men, nor any of the other physicians that are seen in the daily lives
of American people. Miner continues this process while only leaving slight hints. Horace Miner
does a terrific job in this satire. Once view of this paper is noticed, the reader can be entertained by
the mysterious ways of the Nacerima people. This essay has brought attention to the ways of
American culture, which is not only informative but very entertaining. Prompt #2 never run, just

Framing Theory Paper
The attendance quiz question regarding losing and saving lives exhibits the framing theory. This
case scenario defines the framing theory because of the obvious variance in the language used to
describe the same outcome. The framing theory is that by emphasizing a situation or title using a
certain context of wording will activate a certain shelf to influence someone s decision or thought
process.
Therefore, framing is integral to this topic of because choosing to emphasize words such as saving

For example, 200 people will be saved versus 400 people will die is merely reframed it to sound
more appealing on a certain side. Therefore, this moral question about gaining or losing is focusing
us to think about our decision in the event of a catastrophic incident in which we need to weight the
risk with a negative effect of those dying and the rewards of those living. As the respondent reads
the question in the survey, our mind s natural shelf unconsciously highlights the positive parts while
interpreting the information. Most people as the study concludes, around в…” who took the survey

Ponce De Leon Biography
Juan Ponce De Leon was a Spanish explorer. In addition to being an explorer, he was also a
soldier, governor, and farmer. Ponce De Leon s exact date of birth is not known. Many believe
he was born around 1460 to 1474 in Santervas De Campos, Spain. He died in July, 1521, in
Havana, Cuba. He died after he was shot by a poisoned arrow from the Indians who were trying
to protect their land. Like most explorers, Ponce De Leon explored for the fame and fortune. He
needed a job because he worked as a squire for a knight until the war ended. After the war ended
around 1492, there was not a job for him so he had to find something else to do. Ponce De Leon
also became an explorer because he wasn t the oldest child in his family. This meant he wouldn t
inherit wealth or land when his parents died. Ponce De Leon had to go out and find a way to
earn a living. Ponce De Leon was one of about 1200 men who went with Christopher Columbus
on his second voyage to Hispaniola in 1493. Columbus had left on his first voyage to search for
a new trade route to Asia and ended up discovering new land. Trading for jewels, spices and silks
was very important to Spain and a new trade route was needed. When Columbus returned to
Spain, he told everyone about the new world he had discovered. Columbus planned a second
voyage to the new land and had a lot of people interested in going with him to search for riches.
Ponce De Leon was one of them. They had seventeen ships on the second voyage. King Ferdinand

Examples Of Iago Evil
Iago is one of William Shakespeare s most evil villains. From the very beginning Iago is out to
destroy Othello. No one really knows why Iago hates Othello so much, but there are many
theories to why he does, such as iago states he s angry that othello looked past him for a
promotion or the possibility that othello is having an affair with his wife. Iago s ability to
manipulate and deceive people is truly evil, yet also genious. Iago is absolutely evil and shows
it throughout the entire play. Iago s evil is shown in everything he says, does, and has a part of.
For him to be able to constantly deceive his wife and friends shows how evil he is. Iago double
crosses all the characters who consider him their friend. Most shockingly perhaps, he kills
Roderigo, a Character who he has colluded with and been mostly honest with throughout the play

Gasoline Engines As A Diesel Engines
Introduction There are many advantages and disadvantages to gasoline engines as well as diesel
engines in both light trucks and cars. The goal of this report is to inform the public on the many
pros and cons of the vehicle buying world. This report will discuss the three main topics of
discussion when choosing between a gasoline and a diesel enginein a vehicle. The people of the
United States purchased 1,507,339 vehicles in the year 2014 alone. Now, 829,185 of those
vehicles were considered light trucks and the remaining 678,154 vehicles were cars. A large
portion of these vehicles are power by a diesel motor as compared to a gas or hybrid motors in
the other vehicles. Traditionally diesel engines are thought of as being used for large tractor
trailer trucks, heavy duty equipment, and other large commercial vehicles. However, in recent
years there has been a shift from the industrial world only to a more balanced market of diesel
vehicles for everyday use. The three main criteria on which vehicles are judged are as follows.
First, in today s day and age what is looked at is the efficiency, Fuel Efficiency. Secondly, is the
durability and dependability of the vehicle, will this car or truck last, can this vehicle drive across
country and not worry about it dying? Lastly, the report will talk about the affordability of the
vehicle, is it better to pay less initially, will paying more initially be a better investment for the long
run?

Dark Matter: The Number One Mystery in Our Universe
Dark matter is a mystery in astrophysics that could not be explained until the 1970s. Even now,
with the understanding of space we have, cosmologists do not know a plethora of knowledge about
dark matter. Dark matter is non baryonic matter that cannot be detected in normal ways and was not
discovered until the 1930s, but is one of the main components of our universe. Dark matter makes
up about 27 percent of our entire universe (Dark Energy, Dark Matter NASA Science), and another
75 percent of all matter (Dunbar). Dark matter forms in giant, unevenly spread clumps around
celestial bodies, mostly galaxies. One theory of how the clusters of dark matter form is the Weakly
Interacting Massive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since when the dark matter particle collide and produce gamma rays, cosmologists can use gamma
ray telescopes to detect the placement of dark matter clumps. Another way to disclose the location
of dark matter clusters is to use gravitational lensing. Light behind galaxies is distorted by the
intervening invisible dark matter within the cluster (Hubble s Dark Matter Map). In the 1930s, an
astronomer named Fritz Zwicky theorized dark matter. He studied the Coma galaxy cluster,
specifically how fast the cluster revolves. The speed of the revolution depends on the weight and
position of the matter within the cluster. The speed that Zwicky measured implied that the cluster
had more matter than what matter was observable. Then, in the 1970s, Vera Rubin and her team
justified Zwicky s idea by studying galaxy rotation with better technology. The work of Rubin
helped to establish the notion of dark matter (Dunbar). Dark matter is one of the main mysteries in
the universe, that cosmologists still do not know much about. Dark matter is non baryonic matter,
discovered in the 1930s, that is a main component of our known cosmos. Dark matter is made after
WIMPs, colliding, making gamma rays. Using the gamma rays emitted, astrophysicists detect the
placement of dark matter. With the next technological advancements in the studies of our universe,
cosmologists can acquire new information about dark

Fredrick Henry Sexism
Gender roles exist all throughout history and prevail in present day. In Farewell to Arms,
Hemingway brings to light to society s standards of men and during World War I through the
character, Frederick Henry. He is an American soldier touring over in Italy. He follows the typical
stereotype of a man, fitting into the war through fighting for his country. He changes his internal
ways after a tragic incident happens to a loved one. Hemingway reveals this sexism through the
death of Catherine, Henry s lover, and her child. Henry, as a male, must hide his feelings and any
indication that differs from the stereotypical tough attitude. He is constantly hurt through war or
even through emotional issues in his own relationship, though the... Show more content on

Hemingway proves through the actions and reactions of Henry that the stereotype of male
cannot define him. Henry, throughout the novel, is heavily drinking when he is with other men
(Hemingway 87, 171). He is most likely keeping up on appearances to appeal to the others as a
man. This part of Henry does not change, Hemingway is signifying the stereotypes pushed onto
men do not come in the form of taunting, just being around others. The only changes shown
through Henry are the thoughts that he allows himself to have. Hemingway demonstrates the
struggle for a man to admit pain as Henry says, Lying on the floor of the flat car with the guns
beside me under the canvas, I was wet, cold, and very hungry (Hemingway 231). This revelation
of admittance is rare and significant due to the lack of communication from other men in the
novel about their own pain. All the men in the novel seem to talk about is drinking, war, and
women. After Catherine s death, Hemingway has Henry leave. After a while I went out and left
the hospital and walked back to the hotel in the rain (Hemingway 332). Henry does not cry, he
merely walks away into the rain. Hemingway is showing the defeat of a man. Henry is changed,
but the main reason for his change has no been ripped out from under his feet. Many aspects of
his manly behavior is still there, but many aspects of him have changed. Hemingway is revealing
the reality behind the masculinity seen in males. While their exterior appears tough and apathetic,
their interior has emotion and can love another. It changes the work as a whole, as Henry s denial
to love and other non masculine subjects are no longer trust worthy. Henry s denials are just to be
seen as cover ups for his own sake. Hemingway exhibits the change of a man through his thoughts,
but also proves the pressures on that man

Essay about Statistics in Sports
Statistics is a mathematical science pertaining to the collection, analysis, interpretation or
explanation, and presentation of data. It is applicable to a wide variety of academic disciplines,
from the physical and social sciences to the humanities. Statistics are also used for making informed
decisions В– and misused for other reasons В– in all areas of business and government. Statistical
methods can be used to summarize or describe a collection of data; this is called descriptive
statistics. In addition, patterns in the data may be modeled in a way that accounts for randomness

Statistical dispersion is measured by a number system. The measure would be zero, if all the data
were the same. As the data varies, the measurement number increases. There are two purposes to
organizing this data. The first is to show how different units seem similar, by choosing the proper
statistic, or measurement. This is called central tendency. The second is to choose another statistic
that shows how they differ. This is known as statistical variability. The most commonly used
statistics are the mean (average), median (middle or half), and mode (most frequent data). After the
data is collected, classified, summarized, and presented, then it is possible to move on to inferential
statistics if there is enough data to draw a conclusion. Statistical inference is the second part of
statistics. Statistical inference uses the data that was gathered and organized by descriptive
statistics in order to make a logical inference or conclusion. There are two branches of inferential
statistics: Bayesian inference and frequency probability. Bayesian inference uses the scientific
method to increase the probability that a hypothesis or theorem might be true by presenting factual
information. By collecting evidence, the credibility of a hypothesis can change greatly. Evidence
can be collected to prove, or disprove the hypothesis. A hypothesis that has been supported by
enough evidence should be accepted as true, and a hypothesis that has been rejected by enough
evidence

Evaluating Safety Culture And Sms Implementation
Assessing Safety Culture SMS Implementation
Safety culture is defined as consisting of shared beliefs, practices and attitudes, that exist at an
establishment. Culture is the atmosphere created by those beliefs, attitudes, etc. (Middlesworth, M.,
February 19). In recent years, safety culture has become an aspect which most, if not all,
companies and organizations require in order to succeed. What is difficult is how to measure or
assess the safety culture currently present in that organization. What one can do to assess whether
or not a company promotes a positive safety culture is to look at 6 critical components:
organizational commitment, managerial involvement, employee empowerment, accountability
system, communication and a reporting system. A successful company with a positive safety
culture will consist of the majority of the aforementioned components. Without these elements, a
company s safety culture will appear non existent and even if a safety management system is
utilized, it may not be enough to promote the proper safety culture. By identifying specific
characteristics of each component we will be able to recognize how to build a positive safety
culture and how to implement an effective SMS.

The Importance Of The National Park System
Although sites in the National Park System can sometimes be difficult to categorize due to their
diversity, each site is given a designation that attempts to best capture the nature and uses of site. As
determined by Congress in 1970, all units within the system have equal legal standing. This means
that all sites within the National ParkSystem have equal protection under the law. The National Park
System falls under the purview of the Department of the Interior.
Designations within the National Park System include:
* National Park* National Historical Park* National Recreation Area* National Parkway
* National Monument* National Memorial* National Seashore* National Trail
* National Preserve* National Battlefield* National Lakeshore* Affiliated Areas
* National Historic Site* National Cemetery* National River* Other Designations
Information on the National Park and National Monument designation are detailed in following
pages. For more information on other designations, please visit the National Park Service website

In 1872, the first ever national park Yellowstone (pictured to the right) was established as a public
good for the benefit and enjoyment of the people. Yellowstone s founding sparked a worldwide
movement to preserve natural spaces for the enjoyment and enrichment of the public.

American Research And Development Of An Atomic Bomb
It was August, 1939. United States President Franklin Roosevelt read a letter sent to him from
prominent scientists Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard. The purpose of this letter was to inform the
President that the Germans supposedly discovered the secrets to developing nuclear weaponry and
to urge the President to do the same. This letter changed the course of human history, setting the
stage for the development of weapons that would alter warfare forever (Primary Sources: Letter
from Einstein to FDR). The Manhattan Projectwas the code name given to the American research
and development of an atomic bomb. The high stakes chess game of World War II was in full
swing, and every move each side played created a chain reaction throughout the world, as did the
news of the German s advancements. Even though the United States would not officially enter the
war until 1941 (Historical Film Footage: US Enters World War II), the world believed the United
States to be the only hope of a German defeat. With the alarming news of the German s recent
discoveries, the Americans needed to quickly assert its dominance in the race to develop new
wartime technology. Roosevelt authorized the research of nuclear weapons in January of 1942
(Atomic Timeline). Immediately, government officials placed plans for classified studies into
motion at institutions across the country. As explained by the Independence Hall Association, At
first the research was based at only a few universities Columbia

Essay on Emerson And Thoreau
amp;#8220;Dance to the beat of your own drummer: ; A piece of advice that I have been told my
whole life, and have tried my hardest to follow. The words were taken from Thoreau amp;#8217;s
quote, amp;#8220;If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears
a different drummer. ;
Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreauchanged our lives. How? Well, the answer is not
so simple as the statement. To understand fully how they affected our lives, we have to understand
the philosophy of Emerson and Thoreau, and the relationship between the two. So let amp;#8217;s
begin with the relationship between Emerson and Thoreau.
Emerson was born in 1803, into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people claim that Thoreau amp;#8217;s ideas were simply taken from Emerson
amp;#8217;s, in fact, some critics call Thoreau Emerson amp;#8217;s miror. And although their
philosophies greatly reflected one another, they differed in many ways as well.
Emerson amp;#8217;s writing focused on nonconformity and individuality. In his essay quot;Self
Reliance, quot; he wrote, quot;Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind, quot;
and, quot;Whoso would be a man, must be a nonconformist. quot;
Emerson writings were also more focused on the self; philosophy of humanism and Independence
from society are all things that Emerson wrote on frequently. Thoreau, while focusing on matters of
the self in many of his essays, tended to have more of a political overtone to his writing.
In amp;#8220;Civil Disobedience ;, Thoreau amp;#8217;s most famous social protest, He
explains that it is our civil right to disagree with laws. He believed that people must be free to act
according to their own idea of right and wrong, without government interference. In quot;Civil
Disobedience quot;, he said that people should refuse to obey any law they believe is unjust.
Thoreau practiced this type of passive resistance when, in 1846, he refused to pay poll taxes. He
did so to express his opposition to the Mexican War. Thoreau spent one night in jail for his refusal.

Halfway down the long hotel vestibule, he thought that probably hewas going to be late, and

set out on their manhunt, and his sole chance was to find a place tohide in the deepest part of the

him the most was the odor, as though, notwithstanding the absolute acceptance of the dream, there

Blockchain Tracking As A Global Market In The Asia-Hong...
The Asia Pacific region is a rising star in FinTech innovation, but this week, the blockchain
spotlight landed on Singapore as more distributed ledger initiatives from the private and public
sectors took major steps forward.
It s no surprise, considering the Singapore FinTech Festival took place, acting as a global stage for
blockchain innovators to strut their stuff. According to reports in Singapore Business Review, $2.71
billion was raised by investors for FinTechs in the final day of the FinTech Festival, with the
majority of investors coming from Singapore itself. Nearly two thirds of that funding will go

A Prostitute A Servant And A Latina In Humanities Chapter...
Living as a latina in the United States of America is tough. Racial stereotypes follow minorities
everywhere they go, even in the classroom. The average American has a typical image of what a
professor should look like. What should they look like? These perceived images should not exist
because professors could come from all around the world. In A Prostitute, A servant, and a
Customer Service Representative: A Latina In Academia , professorin the department of Critical
Culture, Gender, and Race studies, Carmen R. Lugo Lugo, uses emotional appeals and language
to inform and create awareness of social and racial stereotypes, as well as how profiting is a
priority amongst universities. Throughout the essay, Lugo Lugo wants one to become informed
on prevalent issues in the average college classroom by allowing the reader to appeal to her
through emotions. She uses personal stories and thoughts on college profiting accordingly to
portray the issue amongst her classroom. As she mentions in her essay, That is why my position
within both U.S. society and academia is an important component of this discussion, a position
that is described something like this: I am a women. A woman who is of color. A woman of color
who is a Puerto Rican (which means I am viewed as a latina). And those markers mean something at
the beginning of the twenty first century in and outside the U.S. academy. As identities, they inform

Essay on Interpersonal Communications
Interpersonal Communications As social animals, relationships play a huge role in every
individual s life. They shape one s life at the micro and macro level. This means that relationships
can be made up of a bond between two people or a bond that is as large as a connection between
entire societies. While it is important to understand the full range of how relationships affect one s
life, it is essential that each relationship type gets the full attention that it deserves. One of the types
of relationships that is most common in the United States is known as friends with benefits. This
friends with benefits type of relationship is a complex relationship that is typically grouped with
another type that is known as casual hook... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now that we know the difference between hooking up and a friends with benefits relationship
we can go into detail on this type of interaction. Friends with benefits, in its essence, is an
agreement between two people who are friends and are attracted to one another, so much so,
that they are able to have an on going sexual relationship without any demands or expectations.
Because both participants were friends before any sexual activities took place, they hold a type
of respect and compassion towards one another which neither person would want to mistreat.
This is why this type of relationship requires a lot of pre sex discussion and setting of
boundaries. This agreement allows BOTH participants to be aware that they are only having sex
together to compensate each other s lack of affection from elsewhere and sexual needs. This is
convenient sex with no commitment. Other ground rules are discussed such as being open to see
other people without jealousy issues, who will be allowed to know about the arrangement, and
whether it will continue into any other relationship one or the other may want in the future. The
main reason why this relationship is so tricky is because there is a bond between both people.
These two people do care for one another and enjoy each other just not as much as a romantic
relationship.

The Embittered Older Woman in Great Expectations, A Rose for Emily, and Sunset Boulevard
The character of the delusional, embittered older woman is prevalent in literature and movies. Since
Dickens created the memorable Miss Havisham in Great Expectations, she has evolved with the
times into many other well known characters, including Miss Emily in Faulkner s A Rose for Emily
and Norma Desmond in the film Sunset Boulevard. In each of these incarnations, the woman seeks
revenge after a man s betrayal prevents her from meeting society s expectations of women, but finds

In her insanity, she becomes a macabre parody of the angel in the house, wearing a wedding

wedding. It was then I began to understand that everything in the room had stopped, like the
watch and the clock, a long time ago, Pip says. Instead of being the bride at the wedding feast, or

she thought had cared for her would do the same.
Miss Havisham also mocks the angel in the house in the way she raises Estella. Instead of
teaching Estella to be loving and obedient, she teaches her coldness and hatred, planning to use
her to seek revenge on all men. With this boy? Why, he is a common labouring boy! Estella says
when Miss Havisham orders her to play cards with Pip. Well! You can break his heart, Miss

Astraea Research Paper
Astraea: Star Coral
Astraea, also known as star coral, are typically in the shape of what can be described as boulders,
domes, or cones. However, less often they can be found in the form of flat plates or thick crusts
(Great Star Coral, n.d.).. These colonies of coral grow to be up to 2.5 m in diameter. The color
of Astraea can vary between green, brown, gray, orange, and red; the coral is more often bright
red and orange during the day due to a cyanobacterial protein, which is an essential source of
nitrogen (EDGE: Coral Reef Species, 2008). They only move very slightly in an almost, floating
like manner. Astraea can be found in almost all reef environments, and it is usually the most
dominant coral at depths between 12 and 30 m (Kluijver, n.d.). These are often the most
sedimented areas of the reef, which is where the Astraea thrive, due to their build. The colonies
have very steep sides, which allows the sediment to simply, roll off the coral. If there is still
sediment that settles into the colony, the polyps will produce waves of movement to remove them.
Once again, if this technique is unsuccessful, the polyps will ... Show more content on

mesenterial filaments that extend from their digestive system, which allows them to eat other
coral species that may be invading their space. These filaments help direct food into a central
mouth, and then the food is digested into a sac like body cavity (Boulder Star Coral, 2010).
Astraea are classified as both heterotrophic and autotrophic feeders because, as well as using their
tentacles to prey on other coral species, they also utilize organic matter and bacteria (Vaughan,

In the essay of Defense of Polygamy by the british, feminist, activist and writer Aisha B. Lemu,
explains why polygamy could be a great solution for many women without partners or for many
women with partners but with difficulties in their relations. She explain why because of the large
numbers of men dying in war, and others violent confrontation groups, a huge group of widows,
fiancГ©s, and women in general, have left alone without any protection for themselves or their
children. The quantities in general of men in these days are low and have left a large group of

Therefore, she

What will happen then in the future or into a few more years where the disorder of sexes will
may be so dramatic that for every man twelve women will be shared? Then what? Polygamy will
maybe not be a truth solution and then maybe we will have to attack the true problems of violence
and deaths of men. Another point that the author exposed is the circumstances where the wives are
sick and the husbands can t manage it or where wives are unable to have children while the husband
very much wants them .
This argument represents a more logical thought, although not
entirely correct in my opinion and own personal believes. I just can t still understand why it is
necessary to go get another partner just for the benefit of a baby, when you could solve it renting a
belly without resorting to commitments with other woman. But even if it happens or not, I think
that the choices of a couple are personal choices and if the wife agrees then is her own personal
choice.
The other point that exposes is the cases where a marriage has not been very
successful and the husband loves another woman. The author also express some things about
when a husband need to divorce from the first wife to be with the second wife, but the first wife
doesn t want to be divorce for the secure of the marriage, for herself and their children . Before
starting to explain anything else I do think is quite understandable the worry that a wife could have
for the economical and physical securities

West Transformation In The Late Nineteenth Century
3. How and why was the West transformed in the late nineteenth century? How did these changes
affect the people living in the West? How did the changes in the West transform America? In the
late nineteenth century, the rise of an industrial America took the country by storm. New
innovations, and the development of steel manufacturing, petroleum refining, and the expansion of
railroads, changed the nation s economy and the lifestyle of the people. The names of Andrew
Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and J.P. Morgan became widely known. This industrial boom
introduced a new class of wealthy industrialist and a well off middle class. Unfortunately, farmers
began to struggle immensely during this time; the prices for farm produce began to fall... Show

Indeed, the stock market crash triggered this event, however the vastly poor distribution of
wealth, the wages of industrial workers, and the profitless work of farmers all added up to this
downfall. In addition, high tariffs set by the U.S. made it difficult for foreign nations to sell
goods to them and to buy goods in return. And to make things better, banks were failing and in
result wiping out life savings of hundreds of people. The last straw was drawn when the stock
market hesitated and investors began to sell their stocks for fear of what could happen. Brokers
jammed the stocks as they attempted to unload shares. This grave dip became a panic that
would be known as black Thursday. The following Tuesday all stocks had lost six sevenths of
their value, and it would be appropriately called black Tuesday. With thousands of people s life
savings gone overnight, the economy suffered immensely. Due to the lack of money people
began to stop buying goods. To make up for the lack of revenue, businesses laid off countless
workers to decrease the price of their outputs. This only furthered the issue into a never ending
cycle. People now without jobs could not afford goods, and businesses continued to lay off its
workers to stay profitable. Millions of Americans lived in poverty at this time, many unable to buy

Importance Of Approval In Nursing
Topic approval

they use to chart in the patient s chart that automatically populates most of the information to fill
out things like there H P. An interesting issue is that of all these providers none of their templates
are the same. They have shared with one another, and then customized to suit their individual
preferences. But none of them have a template that addresses all the requirements needed to justify
and/or support any orders that they may submit to be processed. This causes the patient to have the

This ultimately ends up with the patient not receiving what the doctor had promised on the 1st

that I work for. My approval plan is to simply have an insert to put into all the physicians
templates a small clause that would require the physicians to address all the reasons that any
order would be denied. This will save at least 4 personnel from attempting getting approval for
orders that they know have not met the insurance requirements. To do this it will take a lot of
collaboration with all the providers to be willing to take a few extra steps, or to at that point tell
the patient that you must do this (physical therapy) for example before your insurance company
will prove the order that I suggest. This will either require the patient to fully comply with the
requirements or prerequisites of their insurance company, and if they choose not to, then it can be
explained that this order will not be approved and we will not submit it until all the requirements
are fulfilled. This will save many man hours that we are currently devoting this task knowing that it
will fail. As well as not setting the patient s expectations for something that we know will

Partial Birth Abortion Persuasive Speech

This means that an expecting mother would have the choice to end her pregnancy later in the
term, just because she doesn t want the baby anymore. Giving the soon to be mothers this
option, without a good reason to do so, makes them bad role models for future parents. Partial
birth abortions consist of the death and intact removal of the fetus from the uterus. This usually
occurs between the 19th and 26th week of pregnancy. In most cases, it is only performed on
babies that are deformed or dying. In fact, there are little to no situations you can encounter that
require a partially delivered baby to be killed just to preserve the health of a mother. Almost 80%
of partial birth abortions are completely elective. This means that the procedure is done merely
because the mother wants an abortion. Only about 500 out of the yearly total of 1.5 million
abortions, are partial birth abortions. They are mostly performed for the mother s sake, or because
the child has severe abnormalities. Many people believe that letting a pregnant woman abort their

Tyranny is harsh absolute power in the hands of one individual, like a king or dictator. People are

majority denies rights to a minority. The Constitution is a set of basic principles that determines the

  • 2. The Production of Video Games Taught At School An electronic device in which a player would control the images on the screen is known as video games (WorldBookStudent). Video games are the basis to why some students do not do well to school. This is because these students would get the video game addiction in which the games would take over the lives of a kid. Is this a psychological disorder like the others stated within the DSM IV? The answer for this is no (CRCHealthGroup). This addiction however is not a mental disorder, but instead many students may use video games as a stress reducer by releasing all their energy that they gain during the day on the video games. These students would only feel that a videogame is more interesting because it would have cool graphics and most games are multiplayer games which mean that they can play with their friends (VideoGameAddiction). This cause would lead to the effect of where students do badly in school because they would be too concentrated in the video games they play that they will have less time to do any homework which will lead them to not understanding the concept within what the lesson is about. From this adults can understand how students do not do well when they take tests and final exams. What can people do about this situation in this case? Since some students within school are addicted to video games, therefore the school system should provide a career pathway on how to create and program video games because it will allow these gaming students to participate ... • 3. The Sound and the Fury Essay The Sound and the Fury Title: The title of this novel is The Sound and the Fury. This title is derived from one of Shakespeare s most intriguing plays, Macbeth. Within Macbeth, Shakespeare describes life as a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. And if life is a tale told by an idiot, there is justification as to of why Faulkner begins the book through the eyes of Benjy, a thirty three year old retard. Author: The author of The Sound and the Fury is William Faulkner. He grew up in Oxford, Mississippi. After dropping out of high school, Faulkner pursued his studies at the University of Mississippi. And he was a member of England s Royal Navy in World War I.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This eventually leads him to commit suicide. He is the only character in the novel who is obsessed with honor and sexuality. And when he can t find any love from his mother, he turns to Caddy. Quentin does not want to forget how he handled Caddy s promiscuity because he believes that if he were to forget the entire experience would be meaningless although he is haunted by it. And in the end, Quentin commits suicide by drowning himself in the river. The next major character of this novel is Jason Compson. And the third section of the book is seen through his eyes and revolves around him. From this section, the reader learns that Jason is a selfish, demented, and emotionless bachelor who would never give in to the idea of marriage. Jason is selfish in that he believes that he is always right and that the world should work the way that fits him best. He is demented in that he enjoys quarreling with people. One good example of this is when he arrives to work late in hopes that he will have the chance to argue with his boss. And he is emotionless in that he doesn t feel for anyone and doesn t believe in love. The next major character found in the book is Dilsey. And although the last section is from the author s point of view, it revolves around Dilsey, the cook for the Compson family. She treats Benjy like a normal person and assumes that his needs are the same as the rest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people around the world are not able to do the things that we can do here. Some of them are treated differently because of where they are from, or because of what they believe in. Some of the places that are undergoing regional conflicts are the Xinjiang territory, Chechnya, and the province of Quebec. These problems have been taking place for a very longtime. The native population, the Uighurs, went from 78 % to 45%. After this major change, they also began to get treated differently. Xinjiang University would no long allow the use of the Uighur language, just like how Canada did not like the use of French. The Han Chinese took over many government jobs. • 5. The Amoretti, Italian For Cupids The Amoretti, Italian for Cupids was written by the famous English Renaissance poet Edmund Spenser in the 16th century. It is a sonnet cycle that begins with his courtship and ends with his marriage to Elizabeth Boyle. Sonnet 64 is a blazon form sonnet with an abab bcbc cdcd ee rhyme scheme. In this sonnet, the speaker explores the body of his lover and appreciates the scents that it exudes. The first quatrain begins with a kiss. He leans in but doesn t complete the act. Coming to kiss her lips, (such grace I found) Me seem d, I smelt a garden of sweet flow rs That dainty odours from them threw around For damsels fit to deck their lovers bow rs (lines 1 4) When he leaned in to kiss her, he thought he smelled a garden of sweet flowers lingering about. The lovely scent given off is fit for a young lady to adorn her lover. The speaker goes on to describe Elizabeth s features in similes, comparing them to flowers. He starts with her lips, noting that they give off the scent of gillyflowers, also known as carnations. He goes on to portray her ruddy cheeks comparing them to red roses. The rose, which often symbolizes love and passion, also gives off a sense of caution with it s thorns. They also represent female virginity, beauty, and respect which are all qualities that are attached to Elizabeth. As he moves further along with her features, he continues, Her snowy brows, like budded bellamours;/ Her lovely eyes, like pinks but newly spread; (lines 7 8). By saying ... • 6. Japan Imperialism Japan Within the History of Empires Japan s history has been mostly accounted as a history of a homogeneous national entity in the post war historiography. Yet as Andre Schmid and Jordan Sand contest, this notion is replete with problems. Not only does this interpretation gloss over the historical fact of Japan as an imperialist and colonialist power, but it also dismisses the dynamic embedded in history that shaped the trajectory of Japan from an empire to a nation state as seen today. This paper will briefly discuss the question of Japan s national history and argues for a reconsideration of Japan s historical position within the history of empires by drawing this week s readings. There is no doubt that Japan was once an empire and an imperialist as well as a colonialist power. James Huffman s definition of colonialismand imperialismgives a concise account: while imperialism refers to tangible or intangible dominance and colonialism caters more to concrete extra territories, they are not exclusive to each other. Although not until the acquisition of Taiwan in 1895 was Japan as a formal imperialist/colonial power established, its exertion of power in Hokkaido and Okinawa could be traced as preceding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Cooper argues, the emergence of nation states is only a recent phenomenon, a result of the permeable boundaries between empires and other types of political entities within the dynamic world politics. The transformation from an empire to a nation state is not an inevitable result of the European experience. Neither is the historical trajectory of Japan. Its abrupt change from a formal empire to a state is actually a product of imperial intersections which brought about the collisions among the empires and led to the defeat and eradication of Japan s imperialist/colonialist ... Before I go on, I am going to fast forward to the end of Junior year and to the beginning of my Senior year. It was a game against Carlisle Thundering Herd. The gamewas cold and it was the first game of playoffs. I did not start at the time but our starting tackle got hurt so I had been thrown in there. Now take in mind my body is ice cold and my muscles are not stretched. I then remember getting tackled from behind and feeling some popping noises in my ankle. At the end of the first half someone had dove into the side of knee. I had fallen over and felt the worst pain I had ever felt in my life. I am laying there and say to myself, I will not stay down and give up on myself. Halftime comes along and Coach Doc pulls me to the side and said, you are done for the night. I told him to his face, I will not be taken out as this is my last year to shine. Nothing will stand in my way. So I finish the game and come to find out I had sprained my knee bad. Once again I will not have nothing come in front of me this year. Our biggest game of perhaps the whole year was against the Wilson Bulldogs. This was a game I was going to war for my brothers that I love deeply. Second play of this game I get blindsided and my knee buckles. I felt that pain but said no to it and got right back up and played the rest of the game. I had played a great game and we had handed them their worst loss in many years. The moral of my story is to never give up on yourself and the others around you just because things are not going your way. • 9. Daniel Katz Case Subsections (a)(1), (a)(2), (b)(4), (b)(5), and (d) of ET В§ 17 113, all illustrate that an agent s primary obligation to a principal under a power of attorney is to act in the best interest of the principal, i.e., Daniel Katz. Id. Were this a motion for summary judgment Martin would easily show that he has acted constant with his obligations under ET В§ 17 113, but such is not the question here. Rather, the material question in this matter is whether plaintiffs have pleaded facts sufficient to show that Martin has acted inconsistent with his duties under ET В§ 17 113. In paragraphs 35, 36, 37, and 42, plaintiffs provide an exhaustive list of demands that Lauren and Rifkin feel are owed to them from Daniel s assets. These self serving and frankly, quite concerning assertions fundamentally misapprehend the nature of the fiduciary relationship at issue here. In this matter, Martin owes no duties to Lauren or Rifkin. Rather, pursuant to the power of attorney, Martin only owes fiduciary obligations to Daniel to provide for his best interest, as Daniel and no one else is the principal. • 10. Sociological Explanations For Gender Difference TITLE: outline and assess sociological explanations for gender difference in patterns of crime. What is the relationship between crime and masculinity? Crime can be described as an act that harmful to an individual as well as the society; such acts are against and punishable by the law. While deviance can be described as acting against social norms, for example a boy wearing a skirt would be out of place in the society The sex role theory states that, when young males and females are younger they socialise in different ways, resulting in young males being more reckless and neglectful. There are several sociologist and different versions of the sex theory. Edwin Sutherland stated that the gender difference when it comes to socialisation is very obvious. Girls are treated with more supervision and control, while boys are treated not as strict as the girls and are emboldened to take more risk to be tough, which makes boys more inclined and a higher tendency of committing crimes. Talcott parsons believes that there are clear gender roles in a nuclear family, where the father performs the instrumental role which portrays him as a leader and provider, while the mother performs the expressive role of providing emotional support and talking of the children. For girls, because their female role model who is their mother is always available unlike for boys who don t not have as much access to the male figure in their lives (the father) because traditionally the father would be at ... Self reliance to Emerson is a concept of trusting personal thoughts and knowledge opposed to agreeing and submitting to the preconceived notions already forced upon individuals within a society. Even though personal beliefs and thoughts can be swayed and influenced by outside forces if one choses to listen to superficial thoughts, I agree with Emerson that the concept of believing in personal truths is necessary to maintain the truth and to become more self aware. Socrates s point is that the he will continue to stay firm in believing his own personal convictions and dogmas which derived from his own mind, rather than succeeding to the government s will and listening to the single voice of the majority. Socrates explains further that knowledge is the truth and he will continue to pursue the truth so as not to allow the truth to become stagnant and overused as it would be if he did not question his life further. Socrates exemplifies the model of self reliance through his decision to not only disregard the notions of society but also in his decision to believe his own ideas and conceptions of what the truth is. Socrates relies purely on his own personal thoughts. This concept is important because so often humankind ignores that feeling or conviction deep within themselves. Emerson and Socrates both strongly argue that in order to fully comprehend what truth and knowledge are, you absolutely must fully commit yourself to the beliefs within you. I chose him because he has experienced a great deal in his life, even serving in the Vietnam War, making him an interesting interviewee. Mr. B.G was born on March 8, 1944 in New England, Arkansas. He was the youngest of eleven children, four girls and seven boys. He grew up with both of his parents; all of them lived together in a small two bedroom farm house. Although they did not have a lot of money, his parents tried to provide him with a happy childhood. One of his fondest memories is playing instruments on the back porch late into the night. With the large increase in gold prices between 2001 and 2010, the Thermatic Mapper on the Landsat 5 satellite revealed local deforestation was rising at a rate of 26% per annum (NASA 2012). The forest is cleared to allow the soil to be mined for gold. The gold is mined predominately using large petrol engine powered water pumps to blast away the soil and into a slurry. On the other hand there are men who work and provide money to pay for bills and is the head of the family. It wasn t until the 19th century when women decided to start campaigns for women to have more jobs available to them and an increase of salary because females seemed lesser than men, and also had an influence on women to start movements to put an end to prostitution and sexual violence. The goal of this report is to inform the public on the many pros and cons of the vehicle buying world. This report will discuss the three main topics of discussion when choosing between a gasoline and a diesel enginein a vehicle. The people of the United States purchased 1,507,339 vehicles in the year 2014 alone. Now, 829,185 of those vehicles were considered light trucks and the remaining 678,154 vehicles were cars. A large portion of these vehicles are power by a diesel motor as compared to a gas or hybrid motors in the other vehicles. Traditionally diesel engines are thought of as being used for large tractor trailer trucks, heavy duty equipment, and other large commercial vehicles. However, in recent years there has been a shift from the industrial world only to a more balanced market of diesel vehicles for everyday use. The three main criteria on which vehicles are judged are as follows. First, in today s day and age what is looked at is the efficiency, Fuel Efficiency. Secondly, is the durability and dependability of the vehicle, will this car or truck last, can this vehicle drive across country and not worry about it dying? Lastly, the report will talk about the affordability of the vehicle, is it better to pay less initially, will paying more initially be a better investment for the long run? Fuel Efficiency During ... Even now, with the understanding of space we have, cosmologists do not know a plethora of knowledge about dark matter. Dark matter is non baryonic matter that cannot be detected in normal ways and was not discovered until the 1930s, but is one of the main components of our universe. Dark matter makes up about 27 percent of our entire universe (Dark Energy, Dark Matter NASA Science), and another 75 percent of all matter (Dunbar). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since when the dark matter particle collide and produce gamma rays, cosmologists can use gamma ray telescopes to detect the placement of dark matter clumps. Another way to disclose the location of dark matter clusters is to use gravitational lensing. Light behind galaxies is distorted by the intervening invisible dark matter within the cluster (Hubble s Dark Matter Map). In the 1930s, an astronomer named Fritz Zwicky theorized dark matter. He studied the Coma galaxy cluster, specifically how fast the cluster revolves. The speed of the revolution depends on the weight and position of the matter within the cluster. The speed that Zwicky measured implied that the cluster had more matter than what matter was observable. Then, in the 1970s, Vera Rubin and her team justified Zwicky s idea by studying galaxy rotation with better technology. The work of Rubin helped to establish the notion of dark matter (Dunbar). Hemingway proves through the actions and reactions of Henry that the stereotype of male cannot define him. Henry, throughout the novel, is heavily drinking when he is with other men (Hemingway 87, 171). He is most likely keeping up on appearances to appeal to the others as a man. This part of Henry does not change, Hemingway is signifying the stereotypes pushed onto men do not come in the form of taunting, just being around others. The only changes shown through Henry are the thoughts that he allows himself to have. Hemingway demonstrates the struggle for a man to admit pain as Henry says, Lying on the floor of the flat car with the guns beside me under the canvas, I was wet, cold, and very hungry (Hemingway 231). This revelation of admittance is rare and significant due to the lack of communication from other men in the novel about their own pain. All the men in the novel seem to talk about is drinking, war, and women. After Catherine s death, Hemingway has Henry leave. After a while I went out and left the hospital and walked back to the hotel in the rain (Hemingway 332). Henry does not cry, he merely walks away into the rain. Hemingway is showing the defeat of a man. Henry is changed, but the main reason for his change has no been ripped out from under his feet. Many aspects of his manly behavior is still there, but many aspects of him have changed. Hemingway is revealing the reality behind the masculinity seen in males. While their exterior appears tough and apathetic, their interior has emotion and can love another. • 33. Essay about Statistics in Sports Statistics is a mathematical science pertaining to the collection, analysis, interpretation or explanation, and presentation of data. It is applicable to a wide variety of academic disciplines, from the physical and social sciences to the humanities. Statistics are also used for making informed decisions В– and misused for other reasons В– in all areas of business and government. Statistical methods can be used to summarize or describe a collection of data; this is called descriptive statistics. In addition, patterns in the data may be modeled in a way that accounts for randomness and uncertainty in the observations, and then used to draw inferences about the process or population being studied; this is called inferential statistics. Both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Statistical dispersion is measured by a number system. The measure would be zero, if all the data were the same. As the data varies, the measurement number increases. There are two purposes to organizing this data. The first is to show how different units seem similar, by choosing the proper statistic, or measurement. This is called central tendency. The second is to choose another statistic that shows how they differ. This is known as statistical variability. The most commonly used statistics are the mean (average), median (middle or half), and mode (most frequent data). After the data is collected, classified, summarized, and presented, then it is possible to move on to inferential statistics if there is enough data to draw a conclusion. Statistical inference is the second part of statistics. Statistical inference uses the data that was gathered and organized by descriptive statistics in order to make a logical inference or conclusion. There are two branches of inferential statistics: Bayesian inference and frequency probability. Bayesian inference uses the scientific method to increase the probability that a hypothesis or theorem might be true by presenting factual information. By collecting evidence, the credibility of a hypothesis can change greatly. Evidence can be collected to prove, or disprove the hypothesis. A hypothesis that has been supported by enough evidence should be accepted as true, and a hypothesis that has been rejected by enough evidence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Evaluating Safety Culture And Sms Implementation Assessing Safety Culture SMS Implementation Safety culture is defined as consisting of shared beliefs, practices and attitudes, that exist at an establishment. Culture is the atmosphere created by those beliefs, attitudes, etc. (Middlesworth, M., February 19). In recent years, safety culture has become an aspect which most, if not all, companies and organizations require in order to succeed. What is difficult is how to measure or assess the safety culture currently present in that organization. What one can do to assess whether or not a company promotes a positive safety culture is to look at 6 critical components: organizational commitment, managerial involvement, employee empowerment, accountability system, communication and a reporting system. A successful company with a positive safety culture will consist of the majority of the aforementioned components. Without these elements, a company s safety culture will appear non existent and even if a safety management system is utilized, it may not be enough to promote the proper safety culture. By identifying specific characteristics of each component we will be able to recognize how to build a positive safety culture and how to implement an effective SMS. Friends with benefits, in its essence, is an agreement between two people who are friends and are attracted to one another, so much so, that they are able to have an on going sexual relationship without any demands or expectations. Because both participants were friends before any sexual activities took place, they hold a type of respect and compassion towards one another which neither person would want to mistreat. This is why this type of relationship requires a lot of pre sex discussion and setting of boundaries. This agreement allows BOTH participants to be aware that they are only having sex together to compensate each other s lack of affection from elsewhere and sexual needs. This is convenient sex with no commitment. Other ground rules are discussed such as being open to see other people without jealousy issues, who will be allowed to know about the arrangement, and whether it will continue into any other relationship one or the other may want in the future. This will save at least 4 personnel from attempting getting approval for orders that they know have not met the insurance requirements. To do this it will take a lot of collaboration with all the providers to be willing to take a few extra steps, or to at that point tell the patient that you must do this (physical therapy) for example before your insurance company will prove the order that I suggest. This will either require the patient to fully comply with the requirements or prerequisites of their insurance company, and if they choose not to, then it can be explained that this order will not be approved and we will not submit it until all the requirements are fulfilled.
