This Historical Study Will Define The Dual Hostility Of
This historical study will define the dual hostility of the Soviet Union and the United States in the
instigation and resolution of the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. The nuclear arms race of the early
1960s defined a period of history in which a stalemate occurred between superpowers. The United
States and the Soviet Union were continually seeking to build larger nuclear arsenals and to also
expand their territorial influence over lesser nations. The Cuban Missile Crisis defines also defines the
minor role of Cuba that served to facilitate the expansion of communist influence on the eastern
seaboard to the United States. In this manner, Cuba could not be blamed for being a pawn in the
Soviet plan to move missiles 90 miles off the coast of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It assumed the use of multiple and powerful nuclear weapons by both sides in the Cold War, resulting
in reciprocal total annihilation.
This strategic perspective defined the logical outcome of a nuclear war between two major powers,
which would result in the destruction of both sides of the conflict. Therefore, the U.S. and the Soviets
would lose in the case of a nuclear war, which laid the foundation for the Cold War and the political
conflicts that followed. This aspect of a cold war defines the ideological expansion of communism and
capitalist ideology, which would now compete for world domination. By not being able to actually
initiate a hot war between the two superpowers, it became apparent that clandestine spy networks and
the movement of nuclear arsenals would set the stage for the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.
The Soviet Union played an important role in bringing nuclear missiles to Castro s Cuba in 1962, but
it should also be mentioned in the context of the overreaching Cold War with the United States. In a
broader context of the Cold War, the United States has presaged the Cuban Missile Crisis by President
Kennedy s placement of nuclear missiles on the border of Turkey and Italy, which was perceived as a
threat by Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev,. These events took place in 1961, which could be
perceived as a cause for the movement of nuclear missiles by the Soviets to Cuba in 1962. Overall, it
was also evident that the Soviets and the U.S.

Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage
Same sex marriage is a huge controversial issue still being debated in the world today. Many people
believe that same sex marriage is not justifiable but then many others believe that there is no problem
with this circumstance. I believe that homosexuals and lesbians should be permitted to marry if they
choose to. After researching this issue for two weeks, I came across four different people, two against
and two for the issue on same sex marriage. They all have strong opinions and arguments on this issue
and have represented their side extremely well.
Not only will I be talking about why people are opposed to same sex marriage but I will also be
talking about why people are for it and their facts and reasons to support their beliefs. ... Show more

The next fact that Dr. Cameron talks about is homosexual marriage having the highest rate of domestic
violence. He gives many reasons for supporting his facts with many different statistics, including that
the average rate of domestic violence in a traditional marriage that was established by a nationwide
federal government survey of 6, 779 married couples in 1988 is less than five percent per year. Only
two percent of husbands and 3.2 percent of wives said that they were hit, shoved or had things thrown
at them but with unmarried couples the percentages rise with a rate of about 20 % to 25% per year.
But in a same sex marriage, 48% of forty three lesbian and 39% of thirty nine gay couples reported
domestic violence and from a study that had 70 lesbian and gay students that were put into a conflict
resolution situation with gay and lesbian relationships, there was an estimated 29% of gay and 56% of
lesbian couples that experienced violence in the past year.
In conclusion, many people still believe that same sex marriage is not something that should be
allowed, yet many states are now considering it including, Massachusetts who already passed a law.
There are many facts that have been listed above and some that haven t even been shared in my paper
but the solid facts about same sex marriage being justifiable are the ones that

Elizabeth Bishop Tone
Elizabeth Bishop hid many aspects of her life, and although she was not openly confessional as Robert
Lowell, pieces of her did filter through in her poetry: intentional or otherwise. Even so, Bishop s work
is like twisting the blinds open. You must exert some force, though not too much, to allow the light to
come in. There is a delicate balance a reader must find when interpreting Bishop s poetry between
knowing the context of the poem and bringing in personal experience. Moreover, interpreting her
work through only raw text rather than the communication between poet and reader will dilute the
experience. Using expert tone and imagery, Bishop paints elaborate scenes that create a portal to
places one has never been, but feels like they ve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The man and the boat are both worn and at the same time, working. You sense that the man doesn t
throw anything away until he s exhausted it and he can no longer use it. In addition to this, the speaker
mentions the smell of fish being so strong it makes one s nose run and one s eyes water (8) yet the
elderly man is not affected. He is a significant representation of mankind, not to mention the old
(though his age has only a bit to do with the latter). The speaker of the poem offers him a Lucky Strike
(32) as a token of friendship, which he accepts. Equally important to note is that the old gentleman is
surrounded by the tools of his trade as a fisherman. These are man made objects that are used to
harvest, or control, nature. Meanwhile, the poem alludes that nature cannot be restrained. The use of
lines such as (...) old buildings with an emerald moss / growing on their shoreward walls. (19 20) and

African American Medical Study
Thus firstly, past medical treatments provided and studies for syphilis were largely influenced by
social darwinism ideology, common usage of African Americans as test subjects, and present
knowledge about syphilis at the time, contributed to this study experiment being performed.
Social Darwinism in America s medical community was common and often affected how medical
treatments were provided and conducted for African Americans due to its racist belief of justifying
white superiority. Social Darwinist in early nineteenth century America, as explained by Allan M.

This treatment was usually and more often done without the knowledge or consent of the person being

Introduction:
In this contemporary and fast pacing world, businesses cannot work without the assistance of proper
management. Management plays a very vital role in today s world. There are innumerable factors
which are responsible for the success of a business. One of the factors is proper management. Success
of a business depends on how well a business is able to implement management procedures, tactics
and judgments. May it be a big or a small organization, management is crucial in the workings of all
businesses.
Management though a small term, has a lot of significance. According to Leybourne, S., Sainter, P.

But it is not precisely like regular sciences such as physics, chemistry and biology. The chief reason
for the inaccuracy for management to be a science is that it deals with various human beings and
behavior varies from person to person. In this case, foreseeing conclusions becomes a very tedious
job. As management deals with human beings it can be considered as a social science. The principles
or theories implemented could produce innumerable outcomes, therefore it could be categorized as a
behavioral science as well.

The Fall Creek Hydroelectric Facility
1. The Fall Creek hydroelectric facility and the Cornell water treatment facility serve as two examples
of human activity s impact on core processes. The core processes altered by both facilities include the
ecological, physical, and chemical processes. The Fall Creek hydroelectric facility has, by its very
existence, altered the landscape of the area surrounding its main dam, most notably, its creation of
Beebe Lake. The formation of the facility s dam has also impacted the physical and chemical
components of the water that surges through it, by rendering water that passes through the dam
(downstream water) colder and less oxygen rich than the water of Beebe Lake (upstream water). This
poor water quality downstream negatively impacts the ecological process, as the water vital for certain
organisms to thrive, relatively warm, oxygen rich water, is lacking. The Cornell water treatment
facility has also affected a few core processes. The most notable impact the facility has on core
processes is caused by its water filtration apparatus, which often accumulates sediments from Fall
Creek; an unfortunate occurrence that has negative bearing on the organisms that inhabit the creek.
Similar to the hydroelectric facility, this seemingly slight disturbance can have significant affects on
the quality of water downstream, particularly the oxygen content of the water (a chemical process).
This, consequently, can be detrimental to the ecological process, as downstream organisms do not

Why Did Otzi Kill
In 1991 two German hikers found a body stuck in the ice of Italian mountains. When the body was
first found they thought that he was just another victim of a hiking accident. After further
investigation, they concluded that he wasn t just another body, but in fact a 5,300 year old mummy.
The mummy was named Ötzi after the Ötztal Alps where he was found. Although scientists know how
he was killed, they are still speculating why he was murdered. Scientists do know that he was killed
by a 24 inch arrow in his back that caused him to go into cardiac arrest. The arrow was shot from 30
yards with 50 pounds of force. There are many theories on why he was killed. One theory is that he
was sacrificed but there is one major flaw in that theory. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His ribs had also been broken, and two of his fingers were almost immobilized. This evidence shows
that Ötzi could have been fighting in a battle before his death. Tom Loy, a scientist who is studying the
case, said He was in a combat situation for between 24 to 48 hours before he died. Loy also said I
think . . . he shot at least two different people and retrieved his arrow,
The fact that he shot at least two different people brings me to the next point. Ötzi s clothing and
weapons had traces of blood from four people on them. This evidence shows that he most likely killed
someone. I think that he killed those people in the battle, he was fighting in.There could also have
been different people fighting with Ötzi against the enemy. With the blood on Ötzi s fur coat experts
think that he might have been carrying a wounded friend from the battle.
The last piece of evidence is the fact the Ötzi was found on the top of a mountain. I think he was all
the way on the top to get away from the enemy and avoid the battle that was about to happen. He also
knew the trail the best so it would be easier to lose track of the people following him. He might have
been up and down the mountain to confuse them. The evidence to support it is that there were multiple
layers of seeds from the rees in that

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Low Dollar Purchase System
What is Low Dollar Purchase System In order for lower departments and supervisors to make
purchase of products and services that are required for day to day operations the low dollar purchase
system was developed. Of course, this system has regulations on the amounts so the products/services
are limited to a cost authorized by the company, which eliminates the long process to make small
purchases. With companies like PPL, it is a must to have the low dollar purchase system in place
because they work 24/7, therefore PPL uses the following approaches for reducing the effort and
transactions required to process low value purchases:
(1). User negotiated and issued service contracts: for PPL this approach works for the field users to
negotiate and issue orders up to $50,000 contracted service and $3,000 for the materials, which helps
out tremendously because they are a 24/7 company. (2). Local purchase orders:
this approach is ideal for miscellaneous items that do not have a corporate contractor another method
that covers the purchase. Local purchase orders are used for the local suppliers with a maximum limit
of $1,000 and completed with numbered forms. (3). Blanket purchase orders and releasing:
this approach allows users to use releases directly to suppliers, but Purchasing still responsible for
determining what items should be on a blanket purchase order. This type is for repetitive orders from a
supplier and usually in effect for a year. (4). Procurement

One major achievement was finding the modern day human anatomy. Along with all of this he also
had many books published. One of his most important books was the De Humani Corporis Fabrica
which was a huge progress for science. This book proved that the idea of men and women having
different amount of ribs was wrong. This book also made him a royal physician after it was shown to
the Holy Roman Emperor. It also proved that many of Galen s findings were wrong. In 1541, Andreas
realized Galen s research was based of animal dissections due to human dissection being in banned in
Ancient Rome. He would dissect Barbary Macaques because it was closest to the man body structure.
Andreas had many scientific findings in the skeletal system, muscular system, vascular and circulatory
systems, nervous system, abdominal organs, and the heart. Vesalius s work was part of one the earliest

Comparing Confucius And Siddhartha Gautama
Whether rich or poor, leaders have the power to change the world as long as they have the passion to
do so. Confucius and Siddhartha Gautama were both influential guiders whose ideas contrasted and
overlapped. They transformed and modified the way certain people live and prospect things.
Confucius s train of thoughts were necessary to end the boundless hostility and warfare around him,
while the Buddha sought enlightenment and the elimination of suffering.
Confucius s ideology included the belief that people behave exceptionally because it s in their spirit to
do so. Incredibly, with the cruel, bloody wars surrounding him, he was able to have this set of mind.
He desperately looked for ways to bring structure to deal with those devastating times. Education and
intelligence bring people together and he believed that everyone should have the opportunity to learn.
From then on, a person s position in the social hierarchy hinged on their education, rather than their
birth. Being raised in a violent society, he sought peace and enlightenment. His empowering thoughts
punched brutal wars right out of the way. While Confucius was raised in struggling times, the Buddha

Academic Goals And Career Goals
My academic goals are to learn skills that I will need in the workforce to achieve my career goals.
Being a successful student academically has always been important to me, from high school through
all four years of college. I hope to have a substantial foundation of knowledge and experiences from
the classroom that will transition over into my future career. Before my professional career begins, I
will work hard to attain my CPA by retaining my classroom education. Furthermore, the enhanced
knowledge I will gain from a Master of Accounting from Iowa State will better my chances at
achieving my goal of passing the CPA exam.
My career goals include working at a public accounting firm to gain experience of the field while
working towards receiving my CPA. After a few years, I want to work my way up in the company and
eventually become a partner. Or, if I decide to go private working for a company, I would like to
become a CFO. Whichever path I choose, the most important consideration for me as I start my
professional career is not a specific job title in accounting, but rather the chance to work for a
company that promotes a positive work culture and provides an opportunity for professional growth.
In addition, I want to wish to work for a company that shares much of the same values as me and is
enjoyable to work for.
A Master of Accounting degree from Iowa State University would greatly expand my intelligence in
the accounting field, and learn higher level concepts that

Public Housing Policy in Singapore
1 INTRODUCTION
The Singapore public housing policy since its establishment has proved to provide shelter for the
population and has contributed significantly to the economic, social and political development of
Singapore. This policy has been the benchmark for the best public housing by other countries notably
China and Hong Kong (Yang, 2010; Wong, 2011).
The public housing policy implementation has been spearheaded by Housing and Development Board
(HDB) to tackle post war economic problems such as rapid population growth, high unemployment
rate and a critical shortage of sanitary housing (HDB, 2014). The policy was also aimed to mitigate
social problems such as riots and strikes among the different ethnic groups (HDB, 2014).
The success story of public housing policy implementation lies in the higher economic growth and
social stability of Singapore. Economic growth saw 82% of the population live in 879,000 HDB flats
located across 23 towns and estates with home ownership rate at 95% high (Department of Statistics,
2014). In terms of social stability, the policy implementation has freed Singapore from race riot since
1969 (Department of Statistics, 2014).
However, rising issues and concerns of ageing population, income disparity and higher housing price
have destabilized Singapore s public housing policy (Population White Paper, 2013). In light of these
challenges, new measures and directions have to be introduced by the Government to keep public
housing policy relevant

The Tax Reform Act Of 1986
More than 25 years ago, there was a major overhaul of the U.S. corporate tax system. The Tax Reform
Act of 1986 reduced a corporate tax rate from 46 percent to 34 (Gross Schadewald, 2012, p. 40). The
federal budget deficit forced the government to lower the corporate tax rate. The level of corporate tax
rate in the USA was lower than it was in Canada, Germany, and France. The tax rate for corporations
remained unchanged until 2011. In 2011, fiscal barriers led to changes of the tax reform. Today, the
reform package includes the exclusion of deductions and credits, and tax rate reduction. However, the
net effect of those components may boost the tax liability of domestic companies.
The most recent economic crisis influenced the changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literature Review
The main objective of many companies is to minimize their tax obligations. Jeffers (2014) discussed
the reason of why companies adopt tax inversion strategies. The researcher indicated that the income
maximization is a major reason of companies attempting to reduce their tax liability (pp. 100 101).
Tax inversion strategies provide companies an advantage to lower income tax rate. Today, U.S.
corporations renounce its U.S. citizenship and move to low tax countries. Companies that
reincorporate oversees are not obligated to pay U.S. taxes on earning income (p. 99). Many countries
implement tax competition strategies to attract and retain businesses. Well known companies, such as
Exxon Mobil, Hewlett Packard, Tyco, General Electric, PepsiCo, etc. take benefits of tax shelter
opportunities overseas (p. 102). Other benefits of the jurisdiction abroad are flexible banking laws and
simplified litigation processes.
Bull, Dowd, and Moomau (2011) analyzed the macroeconomic perspectives of corporate tax reform.
The researchers indicated that it is important to consider changes in tax treatment reduce a current rate

Critical Analysis Of Kate Chopin s The Awakening
The Awakening Critical Essay The novel The Awakening by Kate Chopin contains content that is
highly debatable and easily controversial. In the essay Chopin s The Awakening by Roger Platizky, the
author interpreted from the novel that the depression of Edna Pontellier, the main feminine lead, is
created not only from the male oppression of the time period, but is also derived from the idea that
Edna is affected by a previous encounter with sexual violence, either as a witness or a victim. While
there is some way to infer that this is true, it is not confirmed and is quite a reach, considering her life
now and willingness with men. The reason that some readers believe this is due to her mood changes,
boundary problems and suicide (Platizky, Roger). If Edna was a victim or witness to sexual violence,
she would be even more submissive and fragile as a character. This theory is untrue, however, because
throughout the novel Edna Pontellier displays a growing strength that is presented to the men in her
life and finally gains her the independence she has been desiring, even if it isn t in the most
predictable way. In the essay, Chopin s The Awakening, Platizky writes that while one could argue she
was just shy or introverted, Edna s sweeping passions later in the novel suggest the introversion may
have been imposed. (Platizky, Roger). While this is true that Edna has sweeping passions later in the
novel, it is not correlated to Edna wanting to block something from her memory, such as sexual
violence. While someone could insist that Edna s mood swings are suggesting the protagonist is trying
to block something more than just her realization that she is unhappy in her present marriage
(Platizky), that information is extremely faulty. Instead, Edna s mood swings deal with the oppression
of the patriarchal society that women were thrown into during this time period. Each woman was
supposed to lack individuality and obey the men, especially in the Creole Catholic society. Edna s lack
of cooperation towards this norm shows up often in The Awakening.
She could not at that moment have done other than denied and resisted. She wondered if her husband
had ever spoken to her like that before, and is she has submitted

The French Revolution Of 1789
French Revolution in 1789
Introduction:
King Louis XVI required cash. His money related crisis constrained the French ruler to reluctantly
meet the Estates General with a specific end goal to require another land tax that would ideally settle
his financial hardships. It had been basically 175 years since a last meeting of this deliberative body.
That included delegates of almost three Estates: the First involved the ministry, the Second contained
the nobility and also the Third involved the lower and middle classes. The Estates started their
meeting at the Versailles on 5th of May, 1789 and immediately went into a force battle. The Third
Estate soon proclaimed itself the National Assembly that was illustrative of the general population. ...

Political, monetary, and social conditions in France added to the discontent felt by numerous French
individuals particularly those of the third estate. The thoughts of the scholarly people of the
Enlightenment conveyed new perspectives to government and society. The American Revolution
additionally affected the happening to the French Revolution. The Philosophers planted the seeds for
the French Revolution. Their objectives were to uncover and annihilate the disparities of the old
administration (old order). The political discontent of France was one of the reasons for the
Revolution. In the seventeenth and eighteenth hundreds of years, France was ruled by an outright
government. The ruler had all the political forces. Any individual who reprimanded the administration
could be captured and put in jail without trial. Louis XVI was lord at the season of the French
Revolution. He was keener on chasing than overseeing France. He and his Austrian ruler, Marie
Antoinette, carried on with an extreme life at the Palace of Versailles. They didn t generally think
about the condition of their nation.
The initial two estates cooperated to outvote the huge third estate to keep them from turning into a risk
to the force. Lord Acton, an Englishmen, states that the government being toppled wasn t the flash of
the Revolution. He perceives the American Independence as the flash of the French Revolution. The

Androids And Blade Runner Essay
Androids/Blade Runner Plot Philip K. Dick s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (1968) is a dark
Science Fiction novel illustrating a future of android slavery on Mars and a post World War III Earth.
Rick Deckard is a Blade Runner assigned to retire the androids that escape to Earth. Working for the
San Francisco Police Department, he tracks down and retires all of the Androids previously assigned
to the Chief Bounty Hunter, Dave Holden. Along the way he faces several internal battles about his
personal life and empathizing with Androids. Ridley Scott s 1982 adaptation Blade Runner does not
follow the novel exactly. Instead of focusing more on the ideology of what is human and Mercerism,
Blade Runner is about the chasing and retiring of these androids. Doing this makes it easier to film

The Gems And Jewellery Sector
The gems and jewellery sector has been one of the fastest growing sectors in India in the past few
years. The sector has gained global popularity because of its talented craftsmen, its superior practices
in cutting and polishing fine diamonds and precious stones, and its cost efficiencies. The sector has
been vital to the Indian economy as well; during 2008 09, the sector accounted for around 13% of the
country s total exports.
The gems and jewellery sector in India is engaged in sourcing, manufacturing, and processing, which
involves cutting, polishing and selling precious gemstones and metals such as diamonds, other
precious stones, gold, silver and platinum.
Gold jewellery is the most preferred form of jewellery in demand in India as it is considered
auspicious to purchase gold on major occasions like festivals, marriage, birth etc. Also, gold occupies
the second position among all investment instruments and is considered as the safest investment
option. According to the data released by the World Gold Council (WGC), India is the largest
consumer of gold. In 2008, India consumed approximately 660 tonnes of gold and accounted for
22.71% of the total gold consumed all over the world, most of which was used in jewellery. Even
though the gold demand remained weak, India continued to maintain its second position in the third

Factories In The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution has been described as a mixed blessing is a statement in which many people
can agree. The painstaking work, cruel working conditions, and extremely long hours for all
employees shows the struggles people went through for the advancement of their country. Workers
wanted to see technology and their country progress so they did the work necessary. The end result
was something the world had never seen, so many new technological advancements, and inventions
made so many tasks more efficient, and suddenly work became easier all across the globe. One of the
most prominent new developments in the Industrial Revolution was factories, and factory workers.
Factories were a result of new farming equipment being invented. From 1733 1787 five new

2 (paper) 174 pages Comments by Bob Corbett November 2009 This is a lovely book, tender but
profound. It is about the importance of seeking one s own meaning of life and spending one s life
fulfilling it. Coelho calls it seeking one s Personal Legend. It reminds me very much of what the
Existentialists would have called authenticity. However, unlike the Existentialists who write rather
darkly about this process of seeking one s own meaning system, Coelho s young shepherd boy is
seeking his Personal Legend in something much like a fairly tale. However, Coelho at least gives us a
process and set of obstacles we might well expect, and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coelho writes a beautiful and moving legend of the boy s journey and enlightenment. I did find the
title rather odd. There is an alchemist in the novel whom the shepherd boy meets and who, indeed,
helps him in many ways and actually sort of makes the shepherd boy into an alchemist himself. But
the use of the definite article the in the title seems a bit confusing. It would seem, on Coelho s account,
that anyone who actually achieves his or her Personal Legend becomes an alchemist, changing the
baser life we have from birth into the gold of our own Personal Success. But this is a journey upon
which any person may embark. On the other hand Coelho seems right to me in bringing in the
influential alchemist whom the boy meets in the north African desert. I think most of us who have
seriously undertaken this journey meet people along the way who teach us and inspire us toward this
mysterious and even occult route toward our Personal Legend. I m 70 now and still on my journey,
and like the boy, have arrived at various stages I once was almost sure were arrival points, only to
discover another stage of enlightenment along the way. Everyone who is such a seeker should read
this optimistic book of one who seems to have succeeded in the process of turning a potentially base

Corporate Failure is a situation when a company suffers from a huge mistake about a

Causes of Failure of Wells Fargo Missing Corporate Governance Issues
This scandal was an unexpected situation because it was unveiled in September 2016 when
the internal investigation had just began. The former CEO, John Stumpf announced that the
fake accounts had started to open since 2011. During this 5 year period, the Wells Fargo
management had to realise these accounts but they didn t. When they realised the depth of
this scandal, John Stumpf had to take full responsibility.
If they don t know such a big scandal (2 million fake deposit accounts and credit cards) this
means that the bank is too big to manage. This is a bank, which has the responsibility to keep
track of people s money, safety but apparently Wells Fargo couldn t succeed in this matter.
Apparently, the audit committee of the bank was a disappointing team for not finding out such
a mistake. The trust for such a big bank has decreased by the customers. This was mainly
because of the high pressure from the managers to the

Mechanotransduction, which is the process by which cells...
Mechanotransduction, which is the process by which cells converts mechanical stimuli to biochemical
signaling cascades, is involved in the homeostasis of numerous tissues. The mechanotransduction of
oscillatory shear stress by bone resident cells has gained special attention because of its role in
regulating bone formation, remodeling and disease. Mechanical forces, especially, fluid shear stress
has been observed to induce several cellular responses in osteoblastic cells, including intracellular
calcium influx, stress fiber formation, ATP, nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 release, MAPK
activation and gene expression changes 1 5. In particular, there is intense interest in identifying the
primary molecular mechanism of the osteoblast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even cells that have been shown to sense mechanical forces (e.g, apical fluid shear) through changes
in the specific activities as a result of stress induced deformation at the apical surface, respond
differently to the same mechanical stimulus depending on the deformation at the basal surface (106).
Thus the physiologic response of the cell to any mechanical stress is governed by the physical state of
the whole cell, and not by changes in any single signaling molecules. This cellular mechano sensing
and corresponding responsiveness of a cell firstly governed by the stress imposed on it specifically at
the surface. In most of the mechanotransduction studies, the descriptions of the imposed force
amplitude are grossly mentioned (like...). But the force variations include magnitudal and vectorial
changes at sub cellular surface due to heterogeneous surface physical/rheological properties (surface
topology, fluidity and stiffness), which actually govern the spatial activation of the biochemical signal
are overlooked. In fact, the determination of spatial surface stress map is very necessary for
interpreting any type of cellular response that made by mechanical force. Thus, before analysis of the
mechanotransduction, in this chapter, we first computationally determined the cell surface shear stress
map using the cell surface topology information obtained by AFM. This stress map further can explain
the related spatial cellular activity as cellular deformation more

Why Fairy Tales Matter The Informative And The Transformative
There are numerous genre s in literature, but their level of importance and influence on an individual
will differ. Exposure to books and stories is especially important for children because it is their
opportunity to acclimate themselves to written language, and in turn create their own visuals for the
toneless words. Maria Tatar writes, Why Fairy Tales Matter: The Performative and the Transformative
to demonstrate how fairy tale s written language can spark a child s imagination as well as empower
them. Through personal insight from distinguished writers Richard Wright Tatar builds her argument
for the benefits of fairy tales particularly the violent stories. The writer organizes her essay in a
concrete fashion by using each paragraph to build on a proposed idea or to present a belief, but does
not use contemporary writers personal anecdotes or heed to her own advice of avoiding childish fairy
tales. Tatar opens the essay by proclaiming that fairy tales are more than pure entertainment. In fact,
they create a new world for children to explore, expose them to the strength of native language
conventions, and subsequently allow them to apply their newfound power of language to mature.
However, the benefits of fairy tales have recently been disregarded by parents and children due to
society s shift towards cynicism. Nevertheless, fairy tales are essential to developing children because
they inspire the desire to wander into new imaginate domains (56).

The first half of this course focused on Alfred Hitchcock and how his techniques are now recognized

fireworks. While Francie is tempting John as well as getting him to admit his true identity, John
disregards Francie s scenarios and states that he would not take part in such acts. The fact that we can
see one side of his face could mean that John is trying to conceal his identity as the former cat burglar.
Hitchcock could have manipulated the shadows to highlight John s dual identity. The only reason I can
think of for why Francie s shots are not covered in as many shadows is that Hitchcock wanted to
emphasize her beauty to the audience and to John. As Francie continues to tempt John, the romantic
suspense builds as the firework display continues. The scene starts with John and Francie facing each
other as the fireworks display is occurring between them. The fireworks serve as a symbol of the
relationship between John and Francie. As the scene progresses, the fireworks displays goes from
simple to out of control. Once John and Francie move to the couch, the camera switches views from
the characters to the fireworks to display how both events are similar to one

Changes Through Time Analysis
After completing The Changes through Time activity I learned what kind of person I am, what kind of
person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be. To begin with, this activity made me realise
what kind of person I am. I learned that I am a very respectful, intelligent, and clam person. This is a
very important because I discovered who I really am. Secondly, this activity made me realise what
kind of person I used to be. I used to be a very stubborn and active person. This made me realise that
the changes have improved in many ways (attitude), but not all changes were positive, for example, I
became less active/athletic. Thirdly, this activity made me realise who I was going to become. I felt
like I was going to become a respectful, determined, and successful person. This activity has helped
me make life goals and also exceeded my determination. To summarize, in this activity I learned what
kind of person I am, what kind of person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be.
How can you use what you learned by doing this activity? After completing The Changed through
Time activity I can use what I learned by preparing for the future, improving any mistakes, and
analyze/assess what I have learned. To begin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and it was really interesting. This was interesting because I discovered my changes that occurred and
also the changes that were to come, I found this really interesting. Secondly, I got a lot of motivating
vibes from this activity because of the fact that I was excited to pursue my career path (future) and it
also made me more curious. This motivation made me think of life goals like becoming a successful
person. To summarize, two things that I really found interesting was more knowledge about myself,

Teaching And Classroom Management Styles
When I took the surveys, I surprised to see how even keeled my teaching and classroom management
styles were. Before student teaching, I had a general idea of what my ideal teaching style and
classroom management techniques would look like. However, I have realized that a combination of
several teaching styles may be beneficial for students because each student has particular needs for the
classroom. According to the teaching style inventory, I can be described as a facilitator first and
foremost, followed by a formal authority figure, personal model, and delegator. According to Grasha,
a facilitator can be described as a teacher who enhances the personal nature of student teacher
interactions (143). Facilitators are often guiding entities for students because they encourage
independent work (Grasha 143). In my teaching, I have always thought that student independence is
the ultimate goal. I do not want to be the sole source of knowledge in the classroom. Every student has
something important to say. In addition to my focus on individual needs, I still possess qualities of a
more traditional classroom teacher. I agree with part of Grasha s analysis of a formal authority figure;
formal authority figures are concerned with establishing learning goals, expectations, and rules of
conduct for students (143). Students need some consistency and expectations for how to operate in a
classroom environment. If this is not provided, there will be chaos. My teaching style includes

The Causality Of Foreign Direct Investment And Economic...
Testing the Causality Between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth
Ned R Jackson
Utah Valley University
March 2015
Abstract
This paper looks to determine the causality of foreign direct investment and economic growth.
Implementing common and basic econometric techniques to test the association between these two
topics in The United Arab Emirates. In past research it has been implicated that FDI has causality in
economic growth mainly due to the ability FDI has to introduce new technology to the host country
from the foreign countries who are in many cases much more technologically advanced. However, we
hope to show that though there may be a stronger causality between FDI to economic growth that
there is enough evidence to show that there are cases in which economic growth is the cause for the
expansion in FDI that has taken place. =Results from the Solow growth model and Unit root test will
allow us to interpret the true relationship between these two economic factors for the United Arab
Emirates specifically.
Introduction
The correlation between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth is well documented see
(Borensztein, De Gregorio, J W. Lee 98). Even though there has been an extensive amount of research,
which includes both FDI and economic growth, there still seems to be a substantial divide between the
results; which are concluded within these papers. To begin in this research paper we will define

Pigeonholing Dalmatians As Firehouse Dogs
The notion was not conceived in the backlot of a Hollywood studio; nor did it flow from the creative
pens of authors or playwrights. In fact, pigeonholing Dalmatians as firehouse dogs as depicted in films
and read in books, is based on fact. The spotted, sleek, and muscular dog has a long association with
firefighting, and not just riding shotgun in a fire truck. The dog s rapport with horses, and its ability to
run long distances, were attributes that originally earmarked this breed of dog in assisting firefighters
perform their perilous job.
Prior to modern pumper and ladder trucks, transportation for firefighters depended on horse power
literally. In the 18th century, horse drawn carriages equipped with firefighting steam pumps and hoses

Physical Signs Of Child Abuse
Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul
(Dave Pelzer). Children should spend their time playing not wondering when or where their going to
get hit. This research paper is meant to inform people about how severe child abuse can be and what
can happen to children once the abuse stops. In my opinion no one really knows how bad child abuse
can be and why kids are afraid to speak out about it. Child abuse is hidden in the world and no child
should be subjected to it. Notably some physical signs of child abuse may be bruises, burns, fractures,
or any other type of injury. Some other signs can be wanting to run away, nightmares, or loss in self
confidence. When children are getting physically

  • 2. This Historical Study Will Define The Dual Hostility Of This historical study will define the dual hostility of the Soviet Union and the United States in the instigation and resolution of the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. The nuclear arms race of the early 1960s defined a period of history in which a stalemate occurred between superpowers. The United States and the Soviet Union were continually seeking to build larger nuclear arsenals and to also expand their territorial influence over lesser nations. The Cuban Missile Crisis defines also defines the minor role of Cuba that served to facilitate the expansion of communist influence on the eastern seaboard to the United States. In this manner, Cuba could not be blamed for being a pawn in the Soviet plan to move missiles 90 miles off the coast of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It assumed the use of multiple and powerful nuclear weapons by both sides in the Cold War, resulting in reciprocal total annihilation. This strategic perspective defined the logical outcome of a nuclear war between two major powers, which would result in the destruction of both sides of the conflict. Therefore, the U.S. and the Soviets would lose in the case of a nuclear war, which laid the foundation for the Cold War and the political conflicts that followed. This aspect of a cold war defines the ideological expansion of communism and capitalist ideology, which would now compete for world domination. By not being able to actually initiate a hot war between the two superpowers, it became apparent that clandestine spy networks and the movement of nuclear arsenals would set the stage for the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. The Soviet Union played an important role in bringing nuclear missiles to Castro s Cuba in 1962, but it should also be mentioned in the context of the overreaching Cold War with the United States. In a broader context of the Cold War, the United States has presaged the Cuban Missile Crisis by President Kennedy s placement of nuclear missiles on the border of Turkey and Italy, which was perceived as a threat by Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev,. These events took place in 1961, which could be perceived as a cause for the movement of nuclear missiles by the Soviets to Cuba in 1962. • 3. Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage Same sex marriage is a huge controversial issue still being debated in the world today. Many people believe that same sex marriage is not justifiable but then many others believe that there is no problem with this circumstance. I believe that homosexuals and lesbians should be permitted to marry if they choose to. After researching this issue for two weeks, I came across four different people, two against and two for the issue on same sex marriage. They all have strong opinions and arguments on this issue and have represented their side extremely well. Not only will I be talking about why people are opposed to same sex marriage but I will also be talking about why people are for it and their facts and reasons to support their beliefs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next fact that Dr. Cameron talks about is homosexual marriage having the highest rate of domestic violence. He gives many reasons for supporting his facts with many different statistics, including that the average rate of domestic violence in a traditional marriage that was established by a nationwide federal government survey of 6, 779 married couples in 1988 is less than five percent per year. Only two percent of husbands and 3.2 percent of wives said that they were hit, shoved or had things thrown at them but with unmarried couples the percentages rise with a rate of about 20 % to 25% per year. But in a same sex marriage, 48% of forty three lesbian and 39% of thirty nine gay couples reported domestic violence and from a study that had 70 lesbian and gay students that were put into a conflict resolution situation with gay and lesbian relationships, there was an estimated 29% of gay and 56% of lesbian couples that experienced violence in the past year. In conclusion, many people still believe that same sex marriage is not something that should be allowed, yet many states are now considering it including, Massachusetts who already passed a law. There are many facts that have been listed above and some that haven t even been shared in my paper but the solid facts about same sex marriage being justifiable are the ones that ... • 4. Elizabeth Bishop Tone Elizabeth Bishop hid many aspects of her life, and although she was not openly confessional as Robert Lowell, pieces of her did filter through in her poetry: intentional or otherwise. Even so, Bishop s work is like twisting the blinds open. You must exert some force, though not too much, to allow the light to come in. There is a delicate balance a reader must find when interpreting Bishop s poetry between knowing the context of the poem and bringing in personal experience. Moreover, interpreting her work through only raw text rather than the communication between poet and reader will dilute the experience. Using expert tone and imagery, Bishop paints elaborate scenes that create a portal to places one has never been, but feels like they ve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The speaker of the poem offers him a Lucky Strike (32) as a token of friendship, which he accepts. Critical Writing And Analysis Paper Aloysha Mendonca H00203853 Tutorial Group 6 Critical Writing and Analysis 9th November, 2014 Keywords: Management, Introduction: In this contemporary and fast pacing world, businesses cannot work without the assistance of proper management. Management plays a very vital role in today s world. There are innumerable factors which are responsible for the success of a business. One of the factors is proper management. Success of a business depends on how well a business is able to implement management procedures, tactics and judgments. May it be a big or a small organization, management is crucial in the workings of all businesses. Management though a small term, has a lot of significance. According to Leybourne, S., Sainter, P. The chief reason for the inaccuracy for management to be a science is that it deals with various human beings and behavior varies from person to person. The principles or theories implemented could produce innumerable outcomes, therefore it could be categorized as a behavioral science as well. • 8. The Fall Creek Hydroelectric Facility 1. The Fall Creek hydroelectric facility and the Cornell water treatment facility serve as two examples of human activity s impact on core processes. The core processes altered by both facilities include the ecological, physical, and chemical processes. The Fall Creek hydroelectric facility has, by its very existence, altered the landscape of the area surrounding its main dam, most notably, its creation of Beebe Lake. The formation of the facility s dam has also impacted the physical and chemical components of the water that surges through it, by rendering water that passes through the dam (downstream water) colder and less oxygen rich than the water of Beebe Lake (upstream water). This poor water quality downstream negatively impacts the ecological process, as the water vital for certain organisms to thrive, relatively warm, oxygen rich water, is lacking. The Cornell water treatment facility has also affected a few core processes. The most notable impact the facility has on core processes is caused by its water filtration apparatus, which often accumulates sediments from Fall Creek; an unfortunate occurrence that has negative bearing on the organisms that inhabit the creek. Similar to the hydroelectric facility, this seemingly slight disturbance can have significant affects on the quality of water downstream, particularly the oxygen content of the water (a chemical process). This, consequently, can be detrimental to the ecological process, as downstream organisms do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Loy also said I think . . . he shot at least two different people and retrieved his arrow, The fact that he shot at least two different people brings me to the next point. Ötzi s clothing and weapons had traces of blood from four people on them. This evidence shows that he most likely killed someone. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Low Dollar Purchase System What is Low Dollar Purchase System In order for lower departments and supervisors to make purchase of products and services that are required for day to day operations the low dollar purchase system was developed. Of course, this system has regulations on the amounts so the products/services are limited to a cost authorized by the company, which eliminates the long process to make small purchases. With companies like PPL, it is a must to have the low dollar purchase system in place because they work 24/7, therefore PPL uses the following approaches for reducing the effort and transactions required to process low value purchases: (1). User negotiated and issued service contracts: for PPL this approach works for the field users to negotiate and issue orders up to $50,000 contracted service and $3,000 for the materials, which helps out tremendously because they are a 24/7 company. (2). Local purchase orders: this approach is ideal for miscellaneous items that do not have a corporate contractor another method that covers the purchase. Local purchase orders are used for the local suppliers with a maximum limit of $1,000 and completed with numbered forms. (3). Confucius and Siddhartha Gautama were both influential guiders whose ideas contrasted and overlapped. They transformed and modified the way certain people live and prospect things. Confucius s train of thoughts were necessary to end the boundless hostility and warfare around him, while the Buddha sought enlightenment and the elimination of suffering. Confucius s ideology included the belief that people behave exceptionally because it s in their spirit to do so. Incredibly, with the cruel, bloody wars surrounding him, he was able to have this set of mind. He desperately looked for ways to bring structure to deal with those devastating times. Education and intelligence bring people together and he believed that everyone should have the opportunity to learn. From then on, a person s position in the social hierarchy hinged on their education, rather than their birth. Being raised in a violent society, he sought peace and enlightenment. • 20. Public Housing Policy in Singapore 1 INTRODUCTION The Singapore public housing policy since its establishment has proved to provide shelter for the population and has contributed significantly to the economic, social and political development of Singapore. This policy has been the benchmark for the best public housing by other countries notably China and Hong Kong (Yang, 2010; Wong, 2011). The public housing policy implementation has been spearheaded by Housing and Development Board (HDB) to tackle post war economic problems such as rapid population growth, high unemployment rate and a critical shortage of sanitary housing (HDB, 2014). The policy was also aimed to mitigate social problems such as riots and strikes among the different ethnic groups (HDB, 2014). The success story of public housing policy implementation lies in the higher economic growth and social stability of Singapore. Economic growth saw 82% of the population live in 879,000 HDB flats located across 23 towns and estates with home ownership rate at 95% high (Department of Statistics, 2014). In terms of social stability, the policy implementation has freed Singapore from race riot since 1969 (Department of Statistics, 2014). However, rising issues and concerns of ageing population, income disparity and higher housing price have destabilized Singapore s public housing policy (Population White Paper, 2013). In light of these challenges, new measures and directions have to be introduced by the Government to keep public housing policy relevant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tax Reform Act of 1986 reduced a corporate tax rate from 46 percent to 34 (Gross Schadewald, 2012, p. 40). The federal budget deficit forced the government to lower the corporate tax rate. The level of corporate tax rate in the USA was lower than it was in Canada, Germany, and France. The tax rate for corporations remained unchanged until 2011. The researcher indicated that the income maximization is a major reason of companies attempting to reduce their tax liability (pp. 100 101). Tax inversion strategies provide companies an advantage to lower income tax rate. Today, U.S. corporations renounce its U.S. citizenship and move to low tax countries. Companies that reincorporate oversees are not obligated to pay U.S. taxes on earning income (p. 99). Many countries implement tax competition strategies to attract and retain businesses. • 25. Critical Analysis Of Kate Chopin s The Awakening The Awakening Critical Essay The novel The Awakening by Kate Chopin contains content that is highly debatable and easily controversial. In the essay Chopin s The Awakening by Roger Platizky, the author interpreted from the novel that the depression of Edna Pontellier, the main feminine lead, is created not only from the male oppression of the time period, but is also derived from the idea that Edna is affected by a previous encounter with sexual violence, either as a witness or a victim. While there is some way to infer that this is true, it is not confirmed and is quite a reach, considering her life now and willingness with men. The reason that some readers believe this is due to her mood changes, boundary problems and suicide (Platizky, Roger). If Edna was a victim or witness to sexual violence, she would be even more submissive and fragile as a character. This theory is untrue, however, because throughout the novel Edna Pontellier displays a growing strength that is presented to the men in her life and finally gains her the independence she has been desiring, even if it isn t in the most predictable way. In the essay, Chopin s The Awakening, Platizky writes that while one could argue she was just shy or introverted, Edna s sweeping passions later in the novel suggest the introversion may have been imposed. (Platizky, Roger). While this is true that Edna has sweeping passions later in the novel, it is not correlated to Edna wanting to block something from her memory, such as sexual violence. While someone could insist that Edna s mood swings are suggesting the protagonist is trying to block something more than just her realization that she is unhappy in her present marriage (Platizky), that information is extremely faulty. Instead, Edna s mood swings deal with the oppression of the patriarchal society that women were thrown into during this time period. Each woman was supposed to lack individuality and obey the men, especially in the Creole Catholic society. Edna s lack of cooperation towards this norm shows up often in The Awakening. She could not at that moment have done other than denied and resisted. She wondered if her husband had ever spoken to her like that before, and is she has submitted ... There is an alchemist in the novel whom the shepherd boy meets and who, indeed, helps him in many ways and actually sort of makes the shepherd boy into an alchemist himself. But the use of the definite article the in the title seems a bit confusing. It would seem, on Coelho s account, that anyone who actually achieves his or her Personal Legend becomes an alchemist, changing the baser life we have from birth into the gold of our own Personal Success. But this is a journey upon which any person may embark. On the other hand Coelho seems right to me in bringing in the influential alchemist whom the boy meets in the north African desert. I think most of us who have seriously undertaken this journey meet people along the way who teach us and inspire us toward this mysterious and even occult route toward our Personal Legend. Mechanotransduction, which is the process by which cells converts mechanical stimuli to biochemical signaling cascades, is involved in the homeostasis of numerous tissues. The mechanotransduction of oscillatory shear stress by bone resident cells has gained special attention because of its role in regulating bone formation, remodeling and disease. Mechanical forces, especially, fluid shear stress has been observed to induce several cellular responses in osteoblastic cells, including intracellular calcium influx, stress fiber formation, ATP, nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 release, MAPK activation and gene expression changes 1 5. In particular, there is intense interest in identifying the primary molecular mechanism of the osteoblast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even cells that have been shown to sense mechanical forces (e.g, apical fluid shear) through changes in the specific activities as a result of stress induced deformation at the apical surface, respond differently to the same mechanical stimulus depending on the deformation at the basal surface (106). Thus the physiologic response of the cell to any mechanical stress is governed by the physical state of the whole cell, and not by changes in any single signaling molecules. This cellular mechano sensing and corresponding responsiveness of a cell firstly governed by the stress imposed on it specifically at the surface. In most of the mechanotransduction studies, the descriptions of the imposed force amplitude are grossly mentioned (like...). But the force variations include magnitudal and vectorial changes at sub cellular surface due to heterogeneous surface physical/rheological properties (surface topology, fluidity and stiffness), which actually govern the spatial activation of the biochemical signal are overlooked. In fact, the determination of spatial surface stress map is very necessary for interpreting any type of cellular response that made by mechanical force. Exposure to books and stories is especially important for children because it is their opportunity to acclimate themselves to written language, and in turn create their own visuals for the toneless words. Maria Tatar writes, Why Fairy Tales Matter: The Performative and the Transformative to demonstrate how fairy tale s written language can spark a child s imagination as well as empower them. Through personal insight from distinguished writers Richard Wright Tatar builds her argument for the benefits of fairy tales particularly the violent stories. The writer organizes her essay in a concrete fashion by using each paragraph to build on a proposed idea or to present a belief, but does not use contemporary writers personal anecdotes or heed to her own advice of avoiding childish fairy tales. Tatar opens the essay by proclaiming that fairy tales are more than pure entertainment. In fact, they create a new world for children to explore, expose them to the strength of native language conventions, and subsequently allow them to apply their newfound power of language to mature. However, the benefits of fairy tales have recently been disregarded by parents and children due to society s shift towards cynicism. Nevertheless, fairy tales are essential to developing children because they inspire the desire to wander into new imaginate domains (56). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While many of his suspenseful scenes stir feelings of intensity and uncertainty, Alfred Hitchcock builds a more romantic suspense in his 1955 film To Catch a Thief in the fireworks scene (1:06:35 1:11:00). To Catch a Thief follows John Robie (Cary Grant), a retired jewel thief formally known as The Cat. When another burglar copies his old burglary techniques, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the conversation between John and Francie, the shadows cover the characters in different ways. For the majority of this scene, Francie has minimal shadows on her. It is as if the moonlight is shining on her. The only instance where part of her body is covered in shadow is when she steps back into the dark, saying, the thrill is right there in front of you, but you can t quite get it. Her face disappears, but the necklace remains visible and sparkling for the audience and John to see. On the other hand, John has half of his face covered in shadow several times while they are watching the fireworks. While Francie is tempting John as well as getting him to admit his true identity, John disregards Francie s scenarios and states that he would not take part in such acts. The fact that we can see one side of his face could mean that John is trying to conceal his identity as the former cat burglar. Hitchcock could have manipulated the shadows to highlight John s dual identity. The only reason I can think of for why Francie s shots are not covered in as many shadows is that Hitchcock wanted to emphasize her beauty to the audience and to John. As Francie continues to tempt John, the romantic suspense builds as the firework display continues. The scene starts with John and Francie facing each other as the fireworks display is occurring between them. The fireworks serve as a symbol of the relationship between John and Francie. As the scene progresses, the fireworks displays goes from simple to out of control. Once John and Francie move to the couch, the camera switches views from the characters to the fireworks to display how both events are similar to one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Teaching And Classroom Management Styles When I took the surveys, I surprised to see how even keeled my teaching and classroom management styles were. Before student teaching, I had a general idea of what my ideal teaching style and classroom management techniques would look like. However, I have realized that a combination of several teaching styles may be beneficial for students because each student has particular needs for the classroom. According to the teaching style inventory, I can be described as a facilitator first and foremost, followed by a formal authority figure, personal model, and delegator. According to Grasha, a facilitator can be described as a teacher who enhances the personal nature of student teacher interactions (143). Facilitators are often guiding entities for students because they encourage independent work (Grasha 143). In my teaching, I have always thought that student independence is the ultimate goal. I do not want to be the sole source of knowledge in the classroom. Every student has something important to say. In addition to my focus on individual needs, I still possess qualities of a more traditional classroom teacher. I agree with part of Grasha s analysis of a formal authority figure; formal authority figures are concerned with establishing learning goals, expectations, and rules of conduct for students (143). Students need some consistency and expectations for how to operate in a classroom environment. If this is not provided, there will be chaos. My teaching style includes ... • 47. The Causality Of Foreign Direct Investment And Economic... Testing the Causality Between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth Ned R Jackson Utah Valley University March 2015 Abstract This paper looks to determine the causality of foreign direct investment and economic growth. Implementing common and basic econometric techniques to test the association between these two topics in The United Arab Emirates. In past research it has been implicated that FDI has causality in economic growth mainly due to the ability FDI has to introduce new technology to the host country from the foreign countries who are in many cases much more technologically advanced. However, we hope to show that though there may be a stronger causality between FDI to economic growth that there is enough evidence to show that there are cases in which economic growth is the cause for the expansion in FDI that has taken place. =Results from the Solow growth model and Unit root test will allow us to interpret the true relationship between these two economic factors for the United Arab Emirates specifically. Introduction The correlation between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth is well documented see (Borensztein, De Gregorio, J W. Lee 98). Even though there has been an extensive amount of research, which includes both FDI and economic growth, there still seems to be a substantial divide between the results; which are concluded within these papers. To begin in this research paper we will define foreign direct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Pigeonholing Dalmatians As Firehouse Dogs The notion was not conceived in the backlot of a Hollywood studio; nor did it flow from the creative pens of authors or playwrights. In fact, pigeonholing Dalmatians as firehouse dogs as depicted in films and read in books, is based on fact. The spotted, sleek, and muscular dog has a long association with firefighting, and not just riding shotgun in a fire truck. The dog s rapport with horses, and its ability to run long distances, were attributes that originally earmarked this breed of dog in assisting firefighters perform their perilous job. Prior to modern pumper and ladder trucks, transportation for firefighters depended on horse power literally. Children should spend their time playing not wondering when or where their going to get hit. This research paper is meant to inform people about how severe child abuse can be and what can happen to children once the abuse stops. In my opinion no one really knows how bad child abuse can be and why kids are afraid to speak out about it. Child abuse is hidden in the world and no child should be subjected to it. Notably some physical signs of child abuse may be bruises, burns, fractures, or any other type of injury. Some other signs can be wanting to run away, nightmares, or loss in self confidence.
