Cognitive Behavior Therapy For Generalized Anxiety...
Cognitive behavioral therapy has established itself as an effective treatment for generalized anxiety
disorder. However, anxiety is a disorder that can affect a person most, if not all, of their lives. As
people age, their needs change when it comes to treatment for many disorders, including anxiety. Is
Cognitive behavior therapy for generalized anxiety disorder as effective in adults of working age and
older adults? The database used in this search was Google Scholar. The keywords used were cognitive
behavior therapy, anxiety, and generalized anxiety disorder. The article selected was Cognitive
behavior therapy for generalized anxiety disorder: Is CBT equally efficacious in adults of working age
and older adults? (Kishita and Laidlaw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people in the studies must also be randomly assigned a treatment or a placebo (Kishita Laidlaw,
2017, p.126) After these criteria were applied, the number of studies decreased to 15 (Kishita Laidlaw,
2017, p.127). Information on participants age range and mean age, the type of treatment condition, the
type of control condition, format of the therapy, the number of sessions, the primary outcome
measure, the type of analyses, and means, standard deviations, and sample size for the primary outcome
measure in each condition was recorded for each study (Kishita Laidlaw, 2017, p.127)
Limitations and Sponsorships
The study has a narrow focus on GAD only and cannot provide any information on other anxiety
disorders (Kishita Laidlaw 2017). The age groups included in the studies both included people aged
from 55 to 60 because of an overlap in the age group classification (Kishita Laidlaw 2017) There is
also an apparent lack of patients older than 65. The study also only included articles that used non
active psychological controls, which created a varied group of controls (Kishita Laidlaw, 2017, p.133).
Findings/Conclusions
The analysis found that the majority of treatments used for adults of working age were traditional
CBT techniques (Kishita Laidlaw, 2017, p.128). The rest of the studies used newer techniques (Kishita
Laidlaw 2017). In

Shiloh Character Analysis
Be yourself, everyone else is already taken (Oscar Wilde). In the enchanting story of Quiet Bunny by
Lisa McCue, Quiet Bunny learns to find his voice through a series of trial and error. Finding one s
own special uniqueness is a step toward finding oneself. There are many different ways to achieve
personal enlightenment, including talking to trusted family and friends, not trying to mimic others, and
being proud of oneself. In Heather Henson s novel Dream of Night, Shiloh finds her own personality
with the help of a very special horse. Shiloh is a hardened foster child who meets an old and abused
racehorse. Her relationship with the racehorse changes her demeanor and lets the other side of her
speak up. While she is sassy and rude at the beginning of the book, by the end she is grinning back. A
little. Not too much, not yet... (Henson, 207). She has found her true voice, the person she is meant to
be by enlisting the help of a trusted friend. Other people can bring out the best in people and talk them
through difficult times. Shiloh is also one step closer to true personal enlightenment. ... Show more

Quiet Bunny, from McCue s short story Quiet Bunny, is exactly as the name entails a quiet bunny.
After hearing all the other animals in the forest sing in the night song , Quiet Bunny goes on a quest to
find his own noise. He tries to mimic all of the other animals but ultimately fails. But on his way back
to the clearing, Quiet Bunny jumps on a log and soon enough he is marching to the beat of his own
drum. A wise old owl once told Quiet Bunny You are a Quiet Bunny. Be whoooo you are and you will
find your own bunny sound. (McCue, n.p.). Quiet Bunny realizes he is special and ceases to copy
others. He knows that finding one s voice in this world is a journey to finding oneself and it is
unreasonable to copy other people because people are unique individuals with unique

Feminism In The Bell Jar
Marco is not successful in his attempted rape of Esther. Though his assault has detrimental effects on
her mental stability, he does not break her or destroy her. However, Buddy succeeds in shifting the
focus of the gaze to be socially oppressive. In The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood is a woman of the
1950s who goes against the belief that women should marry; in fact, she declares, I m never going to
get married (Plath 93) while being proposed to by Buddy Willard. In his proposal, Buddy asks the
question, How would you like to be Mrs. Buddy Willard? (92). In other words, he asks her if she
would like to serve as an extension of himself. He is adhering to the Victorian notions of marriage.
Her identity of Esther Greenwood will be erased with her marriage to Buddy Willard. Not only does
society want Esther to succumb to her inferiority, but a specific man does as well. Society s
convictions in regards to women were so powerful that they entrenched themselves into the mind of a
man Esther knew since childhood. These convictions aid Buddy in taking on the oppressive form of
the male gaze. He does not view her sexually, but rather as something for him to own someone for him
to stamp his own name onto.
In Aunt Jennifer s Tigers, Aunt Jennifer does not serve as her own narrator, but is rather analyzed
through the eyes of who is presumed to be her niece. Rich purposely denounces the male gaze by
allowing for a woman to look upon another woman. She removes all sexual undertones

Who Is Flawed In Edith Hamilton s Mythology Flawed
I Woke Up Like This : Flawed
One of the common things among cultures is myths. Myths are deeply ingrained within the cultures
we grow up in. Whether it s Johnny Appleseed in the US or the Talking Foxes of Eritrea. Myths give
birth to heroes. And heroes plant different seeds in people depending upon the moral of the story. Such
messages are portrayed in Edith Hamilton s book, Mythology , which depicts different heroes with
different stories. Heroes are more inspirational when depicted as flawed due to their likability to
human beings, thereby being more relatable to common people and spurring confidence that they re
just as capable.
Hercules is one of the heroes whose flaws and strengths are distinct and obvious. He s strong and
powerful, as well as brave. However he also murdered his family . He was very reckless and had an
explosive rage. He was quite daft as well. In fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reading about clean cut and immaculate heroes would make them strive to reach that level of
perfection. In fact Life, Death, and Subjectivity: Moral Sources in Bioethics a philosophical book on
existence by Stan Van Hooft states, ....every living thing must strive for its own perfection (pg.110).
However, this argument neglects the fact that the idea of perfection is subjective. Creating a box by
which you would abide by, in order to achieve perceived perfection is very limiting. On top of that, the
strive for perfection is a bottomless pit. Meaning perfection is unattainable and attempting to achieve
it will prove futile. It would only lead to self dissatisfaction and shame for not achieving it. One can
only try their best and proceed to learn from their mistakes as well grow and overcome their flaws.
Flawed heroes serve as examples to audiences that will internalize what they read/see and grasp that
their flaws shouldn t disturb their journey and matters they take on in

The Declaration Of The Rights Of Man And The Citizen Analysis
By reading the Encyclopedie and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, one can
understand that there were many problems concerning people during that time, such as the creation of
a just government as well as the responsibility of a father. Firstly, the author in the Encyclopedie put
forth his belief of a just government, in which the rights of the people would be preserved. In other
words, this could also show the people s fear at the time of a creation of a tyranny or a government
which was regulated for the benefit of those who governed only. Moreover, the author argued against
other writers saying that their reason for one to oblige to follow the unjust laws of the government
because they were born the subject of their fathers

Essay The Knight and the Cart
The Knight of the Cart
By the end of eleventh century, Western Europe had experienced a powerful cultural revival. The
flourish of New towns provided a place for exchange of commerce and flow of knowledge and ideas.
Universities, which replaced monasteries as centers of learning, poured urbanized knowledge into
society. New technological advances and economics transformations provided the means for building
magnificent architectures. These developments were representative of the mental and behavioral
transformations that the medieval world underwent and the new relationships that were brought about
between men, women and society in the twelfth century. As in technology, science, and scholasticism,

He is tested at various stages in his voyage, such as by the damsel who requires him to sleep with her
if he wants hospitality. Lancelot agrees only after pleading with her not to make him sleep with her.
He did this not because the girl was unattractive for he states, quot; Many men would have thanked her
five hundred times for such an offer. quot; He agrees to this act only because he believes that he needs
the lodging to rest himself so he can dutifully continue his quest for Guinevere. Yet, Lancelot does not
even look at her when she is naked; his lack of interest causes the damsel to relinquish him from his
promise. He stays perfectly loyal and faithful to his queen.
Obedience is another factor that constitutes courtly behavior in the story. Lancelot battles arduous
combats and suffers severe wounds for the love of Guinevere. However, once throughout his voyage
he falters in his obedience to her love, when he comes across a dwarf, driver of a cart, the dwarf tells
Lancelot to ride in the cart in exchange for information on Guinevere s whereabouts; Lancelot
hesitates momentarily before leaping into the cart. Lancelot regrets this moment of hesitation and

Economic Cost Of Space Exploration Vs. Money
In comparison, the money for space exploration vs money that could have been spent on social
programs. I think the economic cost does not outweigh the number of benefits, because scientific and
technological advances due to space exploration have far exceeded the investment, in value, use, and
so on (Pearson Fielding, 1991). Point 3: It is important to consider that what may seem pure science
ends up contributing to the store of human knowledge, and the advancement of knowledge always has
relevance to everyday life, in the practical as well as the philosophical sense. Many technologies
developed for space eventually lead to advances in other areas, though it is very difficult to predict
when and how basic knowledge will result in practical

Free Market Economy
The United States is known to operate in a free market economy. In other words, the economy is based
solely on supply and demand with little to no government control. In reality, however, the United
States has various government regulations on our country s market. The amount of regulation that is
necessary is a continuing debate among politicians and economists to this day. Some would say that
the key to a successful market economy is to remove government restrictions in order to force
businesses to provide superior products and services at affordable prices. Yet, others assert that
government regulations are essential in protecting consumers, stemming from the assumption that
corporations are not always looking out for the public s interest. Of course, there are various
advantages and disadvantages associated with each level of regulation, however it is safe to assume
that there must be a balance between an unregulated free market and a regulated economy in order to
protect people and the environment and allow the economy to flourish. Advantages of a Free Market
Economy A free market is driven by individual innovation and the concept that hard work and
initiative will be rewarded with success. Because of the ingenuity factor, there is plenty of competition
in the market place. Therefore, the rivalry between companies provides the best possible product to
the customer at the best price. In addition, this gives consumers the ability to let their voices be heard,

The Ethical Treatment Of Animal Testing
There are many debates about whether or not animals such as mice and rats should be experimented
on. The organization Psychologist for the Ethical Treatment of Animals believes in observing animals
instead of experimenting on them (Meyer). Another known organization is People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals (PETA). An organization that is in favor of animal experimentation is called Pro
Test and is located in the United Kingdom (UK). This organization thinks that experimenting on
animals may help humans. About 95% of animals are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act like
reptiles, birds and mice ( Animal Testing ). Experimentation on animals should not be permitted in any
country, including the United States, because it is cruel and inhumane, because we have developed
new technology that can replace these experiments, and because sometimes the results that are found
are not directly relevant to humans. Animal testing is a cruel and inhumane thing to do to a living
organism. PETA believes that during experiments the animals are not protected from suffering and
there are no laws that are in place to protect them. The animals in laboratories are treated like cheap
disposable laboratory equipment. In fact, more than 100 million animals are killed in the United States
because they are victims of harsh and deadly experiments that torture and kill these defenseless
animals. Before their death, some animals are forced to participate in experiments that require them to

Dracula Mina Essay
In the late 1800 s an independent and fierce woman was not a common occurrence and usually
frowned upon, but in this strict time period one author creates his main character to be not only
Victorian woman but also a modern woman. Dracula was written in 1897 by Bram Stoker, allowing it
to become a treasured Gothic story. Due to this fact, there are many instances where Victorian virtues
are implied in the story. These virtues are especially influenced on not the characters development but
their fate as well.. One major example of this Mina Harker, who is not only an ideal Victorian woman
but also a modern one. This leading lady exhibits many Victorian and modern characteristics. In Bram
Stoker s Dracula, Mina Harker portrays the ideal Victorian woman while still creating an image of the
modern woman with her many skillful characteristics.
To begin with, the characteristics that make up Mina are in fact Victorian aspects. Before Mina s
characteristics are analyzed, it is important to understand what defined a Victorian woman in the late
1800 s. These strict women held a major role of keeping the home and children together and the
overall action of tending to the husband. Pauline Thomas further describes these women as, Whether
single or married all Victorian women were expected to be weak and helpless, a fragile delicate flower
incapable of making decisions beyond selecting a menu and ensuring her many children were taught
morals...A woman s prime use was to maintain a

Atrial Septal Disease
Atrial septal defects (ASDs) are a deficiency in the wall between the right and left atrium of the heart
(5). ASDs account for 10% of all congenital heart defects(19) and 30% of those diagnosed in
adulthood (20). Definitive diagnosis is by transthoracic echocardiography, though signs of an ASD can
be found on physical examination, electrocardiography and chest radiography (21).
There are four types of ASD, classified according to their position in the interatrial septum (Figure 2):
Ostium secundum defects which represent 80% of all ASDs and are located in the region of the fossa
ovalis
Ostium primum defects which are located in the lower portion of the septum, adjacent to the
atrioventricular (AV) valve
Sinus venosus defects which are located at the junction of the superior/inferior caval veins

Exertional dyspnoea and fatigue are the most common symptoms. These are caused by a left to right
shunt, when the connection between the two atria allows blood to pass from the left side of the heart to
the right. This occurs because the pressure in the left side of the heart is naturally higher than the right.
The extra blood from the left atrium overloads the right atrium and the right ventricle, causing right
heart dilation, and subsequent heart failure (5). If left untreated, patients can develop reversal of the
ASD, resulting in a right to left shunt; this is known as Eisenmenger s syndrome. Other complications
include atrial tachyarrhythmias or stroke (21, 22).
A patient is indicated for closure if they experience symptoms, irrespective of age, to reduce
subsequent morbidity and mortality (21). To reduce this risk, closure should be considered in patients
at risk of a paradoxical embolism, such as patients undergoing pacemaker implantation or professional
divers (5,

Indoor Vs. Outdoor Exercise
Conventional wisdom was supported in 2003 by research from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention which found evidence to support the long held general belief that exercisers profit from
many physical and psychological benefits of physical activity (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, 2003; Plante, Cage, Clements, Stover, 2006). Plante, Cage, Clements, and Stover (2006)
sought to further the idea behind Plante, Aldridge, Bogden, and Hanelin s (2003) study (which built
off of the CDC s 2003 research) concerning virtual reality s role in the psychological benefits of
exercise. Plante, Aldridge, Bogden, and Hanelin s (2003) study included virtual reality scenes of
walking through a college campus that were viewed by participants. This team of researchers paired
virtual reality with exercise, and found that virtual reality paired with exercise can improve the
psychological effects of exercise in a positive way (2006). Plante, Cage, Clements, and Stover (2006)
looked to replicate similar results as well as investigate indoor vs. outdoor exercise benefits.
Plante, Cage, Clements, and Stover declared two hypotheses for their study. First, they hypothesized
that similar results to the Plante, Aldrige, Bogden, and Hanelin (2003) study would be found;
specifically that virtual reality with exercise and also exercise alone would lead to more energy and
less tiredness than virtual reality without exercise (2006). Second, Plante, Cage, Clements, and Stover

Totem And The Coyote Columbus Story By Thomas King
The two stories Totem and The Coyote Columbus Story written by Thomas King are about the
Aboriginal people of North America. Thomas King revisits the history of the Native American people
in his stories and tells them in a symbolic and metaphorical manner, with his simple touch of humour.
The stories Totem and The Coyote Columbus Story are based on historical events, where in they
describe the real historical events which have occurred, rather than the ones written down otherwise.
The story Totem illustrates the cultural biased society s attitude towards the Aboriginal people of
North America. The story Totem by Thomas King captures several such incidences and tells them in a
bit magical and symbolic way. It tells us the story about Aboriginal people and their three centuries of
history shared with the European. The Coyote Columbus Story by Thomas King talks about the sailors
who claimed they had found the land of India and China, which was North America in reality, and
corrects their claim in this story by retelling the true events which had actually happened. The events
in this story take place at the time when Columbus arrived in North America, unlike in Totem where
its events take place in a post Columbus period.
Thomas King says that the Canadian history has been altered and he feels he should tell them
correctly. He incorporates four core elements in his story Totem to illustrate his point: the totem pole,
Walter Hooton and his workers,

According to this definition:
all trading rules enacted by Member States which are capable of hindering, directly or indirectly,
actually or potentially, intra Community trade are to be considered as measures having an effect
equivalent to quantitative restrictions.
This declaration is demonstrative of the ECJ s strict interpretation of their duty to enforce the principle
of EC legislation in this area. For example, it is not necessary to show an actual hindrance to trade
between Member States: it is quite sufficient that the measure should merely be capable of such an
effect.
It is interesting to note that a measure which is not capable of hindering trade between Member States,
which merely affects the flow of trade within a Member State, will not breach Article 28. In Oebel 6 a
Belgian law banning the production and delivery to consumers and retail outlets of bakery products
during night hours, designed to protect workers in small and medium sized bakeries, was held not to
be in breach of Article 28. Although delivery of imported products through the same outlets was
precluded, trade within the Community remained possible at all times . Moreover, a measure falling
within the Dassonville formula but which is solely to the disadvantage of domestic products will not
infringe Community law (Jongeel Kaas BV v Netherlands ) 7. From this it is apparent

Sustainable Economic Growth And The Success Of A Country
Abstract
Last few decades we have seen a changing notion of what constitutes a successful nation. According
to the old school approach, sustainable economic growth is primarily seen as the best way to make a
successful country . There are a few questions that arise as to what factors contribute to the success of
a country. Is sustainable economic growth the best way to get there?
A country comprises of its citizens and the two most important components contributing to the success
of a country are the health and happiness of its citizens. Wealth becomes an important aspect only in a
manner where it encourages greater well being of the citizens.
Another aspect that we need to consider is that of sustainable well being. The term means maintaining
a balance between environment sustainability and well being. Thus, countries must provide well being
within environmental limits.
Economic growth as measured by gross domestic product doesn t really tell us much about citizens
general well being. Here we will be discussing about the change in approach towards what we
consider a successful nation today.

Arguments Against Vaccination
Vaccinations occurs when a health provider purposefully administer a virus or a bacteria into the body
through injections. Vaccines only contain a small amount of weakened virus. This procedure gets done
in order to prepare the bodies immune system for future infections. The immune system can recognize
the virus and determine the right tactic to destroy it, before it takes a toll on the body. Exposing the
body to a virus can potentially save it from getting harmed from diseases like the whooping cough,
chickenpox, influenza, polio, and many more life threatening illnesses. Even with the minor and
infrequent side effects from vaccinations, several parents refrain from vaccinating their children. They
do not want to put their children s lives at risk and would rather take the chance with the diseases that
may occur without the proper vaccinations. The negative effects of vaccinations are simply too risky

Several religions protest against vaccinations due to the fact that it violates the belief systems of their
respective religions. For the Christian religion, they disapprove vaccinations because the founder of
vaccines, Mary Baker Eddy, once stated that the calm Christian mind is a better preventative of
contagion than a drug, or than any other possible sanative method (Should Any Vaccines Be Required
for Children?). Obviously, this blasphemy angered many faithful Christians and began to believe that
vaccinations are unholy. Similarly, the Amish community do not believe in the use of vaccinations.

Restricting Tobacco Advertising Essay
Restricting Tobacco Advertising
Should tobacco advertising be restricted? This is a very controversial issue. There is the idea that
young children that smoke started smoking because of advertisements, but there is also the idea that
children start smoking for other reasons. Many big, well known tobacco companies like RJ Reynolds
are being sued for their advertisements. On Monday April 20th, 1998 the jury heard a testimony from
Lynn Beasly, the marketing vice president of the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. The courts believed
that the advertisement was directed towards children under the age of 18, due to a document from the

Eighty six percent of people between 12 and 17 years old who smoke prefer the three most heavily

video game creator, and lastly a United States Marine. We all have passions and dreams that we want
to achieve and for some they are very much attainable, but for the rest we need to realize it might not
work out. This seems counter intuitive to what society tells us. Follow your dreams, chase your heart,
but if we re going to be honest not all of us are going to win the American idol and make it big. Not to
push you away from pursuing your dreams, but finding a secure job is a wider choice. This is
something I had to decide when choosing my career, I determined my passion, and what I was good
at, then found a way to pursue both. This process helped me find the career path as well as the colleges
I would need to obtain my goal. Music has always been a big part of my life, I play five instruments
decently and I love the feeling that music gives. In the past, I ve played alongside a professional blue
grass player, as well as performed in churches in the San Diego area. As I get older it s something that
I m going to continue to pursue. Another passion of mine is serving God in preaching. As a teenager, I
helped teach Sunday School classes, the eleven o clock kid s church, and even Vacation Bible School
during the summer. My two passions in life are music and preaching, both I can see myself doing
years down the line. However, both of my passions won t provide financial security. Rather than
forgetting your dreams, find a career that would enable you to pursue them. I m extrovert in nature,
and in the past, I ve known myself to be decent with numbers. One day I was talking to a CEO of a
foster agency, she told me how if I did the book work for an agency I can make minimum $80,000 a
year. I had a foreknowledge of what book keeping was, and I decided it would be the perfect job to
provide financial security. Once I determined a career field I had to plan what colleges to attend. To
get an accountant degree, and pursue my other goals along the way I would need to attend two
colleges. I spoke to my mom about the best

Comparing Orwell And Didion As A Writer
By which I mean not a good writer or a bad writer but simply a writer, a person whose most absorbed
and passionate hours are spent arranging words on pieces of paper. Had my credential been in order I
would never have become a writer. Had I been blessed with even limited access to my own mind there
would have been no reason to write. I write entirely to find out what I m thinking, what I m looking at
what I see and what it means.
I know several people who would fit this description, they write to figure out what they want to say. I
on the other hand, have to know want picture I want to paint for the reader before I begin to write.
Last semester, I had the opportunity to do some creative writing for the first time; the writing would
flow smoothly when I had a clear idea of what I want to convey or become stunted when I lost sight of
what I meant to express. Although, I can observe the benefits of both styles of writing, I personally
relate to the Orwellian (purpose driven) type of writing for that reason. ... Show more content on

Parole Is The Release Of A Convicted Offender
Parole is the release of a convicted offender after he or she has completed a portion of his or her prison
sentence (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). Probation is a form of sentence for violating the law, which
suspends the convicted offender s sentence for a period of time and releases the offender back into the
community under specific conditions (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012).
The start of probation can be linked to England s criminal law. During Henry VIII s time, harsh
sanctions were placed on adults and children for violations of the law that were sometimes minor
(New York City Government, 2015). The upper class members of the society eventually became
dissatisfied with the harsh punishments and became bothered with the change of the ... Show more

Before the mid nineteenth century offenders received determinate sentences in prison (Rank, n.d.).
Determinate sentence is a non negotiable sentence of incarceration for the specific amount of time as
required by statute for that specific crime (U.S. Legal, 2015). Determinate sentencing became
problematic because prisons were often overcrowded, which forced governors to issue pardons or
prison wardens had to randomly release inmates to make room for new intake (Rank, n.d.).
Captain Alexander Maconochie and Sir Walter Crofton are credited for implementing early parole
system in England (Rank, n.d.). Maconochie was governor of an English penal colony at Norfolk
Island (Rank, n.d.). Convicted English offenders were transported to Australia from England and from
Australia to the island; unfortunately, the conditions were extremely bad for the offenders (Rank, n.d.).
Maconochie discontinued determinate sentencing and created a mark system (Rank, n.d.). Under the
mark system , inmates could be granted release from prison based upon their hard work and good
behavior (Rank, n.d.). Inmates earned marks, which were used to buy a reduction in sentence or
goods; unfortunately, inmates had to undergo a variety of stages before they were released and the
climbing through the stages depended on the number of marks received (Rank, n.d.).
Similar to Maconochie, Sir Walter Crofton was convinced that the prison sentence should not

How Private Military Companies Affect Modern Africa
The prevalence of mercenaries in African warfare has been continual since the first
Portuguese slavers set foot in South West Africa 500 years ago. It is difficult to find a war in
Africa, especially post World War Two, where mercenaries were not employed by at least one side, if
not both. With the growth of professionalized military companies and the loss of political will to
deploy conventional forces by Western countries, the usage of mercenaries is only going to increase.
This growth is leading to studies about the ethical, economic, and political applications and
ramifications regarding private military companies and their future use in
Africa. This literature review examines policy experts #39; and political scientists #39; research ...

The empirical research concluded two findings. If only a single PMC is hired, it is more likely to
underperform and prolong civil war and if multiple PMCs intervene in an ongoing civil war it is more
likely to be terminated.4 For example, if six PMCs intervene in the sixth year of a civil war, it is at
least 2.5 times more likely to be terminated than if one PMC is operating in the same battle space.5

combat engagement, and how they affect weak or falling states. Petersohn writes that most of this
field of study thinks that PMCs adversely affect the states they are contracted to assist. A common
view is that PMSCs are menaces who simply take economic advantage of and thereby aggravate
already bad situations. 7 Petersohn s

A Short Note On Failure And Emergency Department
Congestive heart failure (CHF) as a disease which nearly five million Americans suffer from and this
number is expected to double in prevalence by the year 2030. CHF is the most common reason for
hospitalization and emergency department (ED) visits by those 65 years and older in the United States
(American Heart Association, 2002). Horowitz, Rein, and Leventhal (2004) wanted to conduct
research on problems with self managing CHF and whether patient had the adequate tools for self

Horowitz et al. (2004) found interventions done to date did not benefit from sufficient data in which
potentially modifiable factors are responsible for suboptimal treatment, inadequate self management,
and adverse CHF outcomes. The researcher s perspective on the problem of self managing CHF came
from determining whether a patient understands and perception of CHF demonstrated the features of
the disease, which are important for participation in their own care. According to Polit and Beck
(2008), literature reviews vary in purpose and length in order to critically appraise the state of research
evidence. There are major steps which must be completed in order to properly analyze literature.
Literature review broadens the understanding of a research problem and summarizes the existing body

External Environment Of The Brewing Industry
Introduction
This report will examine the external environment of the brewing industry using a PESTEL analysis
and the internal capabilities of ABInBev using a value chain analysis in order to determine how the
firm appears to compete. Following this, strategies for improving the competitive position of the
company will be outlined.
ABInBev is a multinational beverage and brewing company based in Belgium. It is the largest brewer
in the world with a 20.8% market share (Statista, 2016) and is also one of the world s top five
consumer goods companies.
Figure 1: Market share by volume (Statista, 2016)
The brewing industry is interesting to examine due to its relatively unique structure. Up until
November 2015, the market was dominated by four main players, known informally as the Big Four .
AB InBev was the largest, followed by SABMiller, Heineken and Carlsberg. In November 2015,
however, ABInBev and SABMiller agreed a formal $107 billion takeover deal, combining the brewers
into a company which industry experts claim would control around half of the industry s profits
(Mickle, 2015). As a result of the sheer size and complexity of the merger, it is anticipated that the
deal will not be finalised until the second half of 2016 as ABInBev must negotiate with anti trust
regulators around the world with respect to their potential monopolistic position. As the deal is yet to
be completed, this report will analyse ABInBev independent of SABMiller.

Black Orpheus Analysis
It is common practice to see old tales revamped for the modern day like romeo and juliet. Franco
Zeffirelli brought Romeo and Juliet to the big screen in 1968, while Baz Luhrmann s version added a
modern twist in 1997. This is no different for Marcel Camus s rendition of the classic Orpheus and
Eurydice story. His version adds quite a twist from the greek original taking place in Rio during
Carnival. The story follows the same like but the culture, and backdrop that envelopes the story is
completely different. It is a quite authentic example of Carnival and the use of the music style Bossa
Nova during the mid 20th century. The authenticity is even furthered when one learns that the two
man composer group who made the beautiful soundtrack are from Rio. Black Orpheus is an authentic
look into the festival of carnival and also the state of Brazil in the mid 1950s. Some of the underlying
feeling of Brazilians relating to its culture are not seen throughout the book, but are expressed by
Gilberto Frye who is quoted. I will analyzing the topics, and details of the film and connect them with

Descriptive Essay Volcano
Allie Koza
Professor Baer
English
17 October 2017 Descriptive Essay The word volcano comes from the little island of vulcano in the
Mediterranean Sea, these fire fountains can reach hundreds of feet into the sky (Lindop). Early
Romans believed this mountain belonged to vulcan, the blacksmith of the gods. Within the last twenty
years, a volcanologists have been working hard to learn how to predict eruptions and keep people safe.
Ash plumes and steam rose into the bright blue sky as the underground earthquake shook the land and
rattled windows all across the eighteen mile town. As the jet circled the island, in view of lovely
beaches and emerald water, looming over this lush paradise was the screaming volcano. Volcanos
erupt when the pressure inside of them becomes so great that the magma surges up and forces its way
out. An exploding volcano can rip apart a mountain in just seconds, when the eruption is over, a
landscape is changed forever. The united states is home to more volcanos than any other country
except Indonesia, and Japan. The majority of these volcanoes are in Alaska. Until recently, there was
no way to predict when a volcano would blow, although volcanoes give off many warning signs
before they erupt. Including smaller earthquakes beneath the volcano, slight inflation, or swelling. The
rising magma eventually causes the solid rock to break, sending earthquake signals. Most volcanoes
give warning signs beginning weeks or months before they blow (Lindop). Lumps of Lava cool into
solid rocks as they fly through the sky, forming rounded chunks that can be also known as bombs,
while pieces with corners and sharp edges are named blocks. Both bombs and blocks can cause a great
deal of damage. As the volcano begins to burst, the sky fills with choking, smoky powder, while it
starts raining lava, and rock. The air warmed quicker than when you pour kerosene on a fire, with a
sound so loud it circled the earth four times, red hot lava flows down the side of the volcano and
magma spews out the top. The only taste in my mouth is the smoke coming from the lava, as the gas
in the air turned all my silver jewelry black. I feel very frightened knowing this is such a normal thing

Leo Clancy Essay
Thomas Leo Clancy Jr. had a very normal beginning. He grew up in Maryland, and went to Loyola
High school. After graduating, he attended Loyola University and began majoring in physics. Clancy

Desalination Plants And Its Effects
When one imagines southern California, they picture tall palm trees, crystal clear beaches, and the
bright, radiating sun creating a golden glow on the people s skin. However, as southern California s
four year drought drags on, the reality is the complete opposite. Rivers are drying up and run through
SoCal with a steady current. The once very fertile soil has turned into dust: superfine, dry, and
unpractical for farming. The almost too perfectly green grass has turned stiff and brown. At an attempt
to accommodate its water supply needs, the Huntington Beach city is now constructing a desalination
plant. Desalination makes millions of gallons of water by removing the salt and minerals in seawater
or brackish water. Desalination has been practiced for decades in Israel and has been successful in
other dry parts of the world. With the desalination plant, there are many benefits, such as the
production of water and jobs. Nonetheless, there are also setbacks that come along with it such as the
overuse of electricity and the production of brine. There are two sides on the construction of the
Huntington Beach desalination plant.
Understanding the desalination process is essential to determining whether desalination should or
should not occur in Huntington Beach. Desalination is the process of removing dissolved salt from
water, thus producing freshwater from seawater or brackish water. In desalination, the first step
includes saltwater or seawater being pumped through

How Is Corruption Shown In Animal Farm
In all of recorded history, there has never been a time where a society has existed in absolute equality.
George Orwell displays this truth through his book Animal Farm. Animal Farm is a fictitious novel
that follows the story of animals that strive, but fail, to create and live in a truly equal society due to
ingrained social statuses and corruption. Orwell s Animal Farm a thinly veiled allegory for the Russian
Revolution warns of the dangers blind acceptance and the allowance of unsupervised government,

How Did The Industrial Revolution Contribute To The...
The industrial Revolution was a era of opportunities for many. For immigrants, it was an opportunity
to get a fresh new start and to have a shot to strike it rich and live the American dream. But for others
it was an opportunity to take advantage of the hard work of others for their own good. The industrial
revolution brought many things to the US. It brought a large amount of immigrants to the US. And it
also brought in many inventions that we still use to this day. With the large amounts of immigrants,
many business owners wanted to take advantage of that. So they started hiring immigrants to work in
their factories to make profits. One particular pair of business owners call the Ashton brothers took it
among themselves to make homes for all the employees of their factory. Everywhere is to be observed
a cleanliness which indicates order and comfort. .(Doc 2) Also some of the inventions that were
created in that time period also contributed to the economic growth. For example, the sewing machine.
The sewing machine was invented by Elias Howe and it revolutionized the way clothing was made.
With the sewing machine, clothing was made faster and sold cheaper than they did when they were
hand stitched. The industrial revolution led us to have the luxuries we have today. Although the
industrial age was an era of economic growth it was mostly on the backbone of the workers that had to
go through hardships in the factory. Not only did the workers have to go

The Ottoman Empire and China, two once very powerful nations, both fell to European imperialism in
the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Europeans were able to invade these regions

unfair trading clauses within these regions as well as indirectly invading them with new religions and
ideas that led to internal revolts. The European imperial rule in the Ottoman Empire and China gave

China, like the Ottoman Empire, was a nation overcome with age old ideas and philosophies which
was no match for a modern and militarily advanced European army. The ruling dynasty in China was
almost overcome simply from an internal revolt, the Taiping Uprising, a rebellion led by Chinese
Christians which gave way to death, carnage, and showed a lack of real leadership that could not hold
the nation together. The Chinese attempted to use their examination system to recruit up and coming
men who could serve their country against the West, but ultimately the technological and military gap
proved too much for the Chinese. The Europeans created unfair trade clauses and invaded the Chinese
with Opium in order to fully gain the materials that China had to offer, such as tea. The Opium Wars
led to internal revolts as many of the Chinese citizens had become addicted to the drug and did not
want to give it up. The Europeans prospered from their addiction as it payed and served them well.
The Chinese did give a push back at the Europeans with their self strengthening ideas, which were led
by their conservative leaders who felt threatened by the urban and commercial development the
Europeans helped move along. Although the Chinese were able to fight back against the Europeans
during the Opium Wars, sometimes during battles with which they won, ultimately

Endangered Animals
The world is facing many serious issues in this day and time. One of the major one is endangered
species. These organisms are living on the edge of extinction. There are many things that threaten
these species like loss of habitat, lack of food, hunting and many more. The victim of this horrendous
crime against living organisms is the fastest running mammal called Cheetah, scientifically known as
Acinonyx jubatus .
Cheetahs are true carnivores which means they depend on meat for survival. They use high speed to
easily hunt their prey. Primary diet of cheetah consists of springbok, ostriches, impala, deer, gazelles,
warthogs, birds, hares, young zebras etc. These animals tend to target younglings because of the
greater rate of success. And while hunting these species like to stalk their prey for 10 50m and then
start sprinting towards it. During this time frame, their bodies are under immense strain and pressure
as a result their body temperature rises to its highest.
These mammals live in the dry grasslands of sub Saharan Africa, and in eastern and southern parks.
Some can also be found in southern Algeria, northern Niger and Iran. Today Namibia has the largest
population of cheetahs living in Africa. It is very hard to believe that these species use to roam around
nearly all of Africa and much of Asia, but now they are driven out of 91% of its historic range. These
animals are nearly extinct in Asia, only around 50 of these individual are living in isolated areas of

flashing on the screen and have no idea what to enter. Chances are the user would not even know
he/she is supposed to enter something. With the prompt, the user knows not only that he/she is
supposed to enter something; he/she will also know what they are supposed to enter. 3. What does the
enterString method do? The enterString method reads in an entire string of characters from the

When you are about 70 miles from Dallas, shortly after you pass the town of Hillsboro the highway
forks. It splits in two. You need to decide between going left which means you will take I35W
(Interstate 35 West) to Fort Worth or going right which means you will take I35E (Interstate 35 East)
to Dallas. 25. Explain Repetition. Another common application occurs when repetition is required. A
grade book program needs to average grades for every student in a class of twenty five students. A
payroll program needs to process paychecks for many employees. Practically everything you can
imagine is done multiple times. Nobody is interested in repeating program source code 500 times for
some task that is to be performed 500 times. We want to create one program segment, and place this
segment in some type of loop control structure that repeats 500 times. 26. What do Selection and
Repetition control structures have in common? Both the selection control structure diagrams and the
repetition diagram indicate a change of program flow occurring after some condition 27. What is the
essence of understanding, and using, control structures? . Understanding conditional statements is the
essence of understanding, and using, control structures. However, before we plunge into the syntax of

Having procession of a license allows an exchange member to buy and sell securities in the trading
department of the exchange. The cost of a license in 2009 was $44,000. The 2007 merger with
Euronext that formed the NYSE Euronext was formed in 2000. This included markets in Belgium,
France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. This merger made
the NYSE the first global exchange. Now trading occurs over 21 hours of every 24 hour business day.
The majority of NYSE members are registed as commission brokers. Comisiion brokers are to execute
costumer orders to buy and sell their stocks. Their primary responsibility to customers is to get the
best price possible for the order they have directed the commission broker. The second largest group
of members in the NYSE are the specialist who are assigned dealers for a set of securities. Specialist
or market makers are obligated to maintain a fair, orderly market for the securities assigned to them.
They keep watch and post bids and ask prices for the securities that are in their care. They make a
market by standing ready to buy at bid prices and sell at asked prices when there is a temporary
disparity between the flow of buy orders and that of sell orders for a security. The third group of
members in the exchange are floor brokers. They are used by the commission brokers to handle the
trades when they are busy handling the larger picture. Some commission brokers will

America s Mergence of Personal and Public Realms in Arendt s The Human Condition
America is a superpower, irrefutably the most dominant nation in the world. Underlining this
supremacy, however, is the fact that America s society is facing several problems. Among these
problems is what Hannah Arendt calls the emergence of society through the mergence of both the
personal and public realms. This major problem has spawned numerous other problems, so has been
chosen as the underlying cause for the tribulations of modern American society. Hannah Arendt,
author of The Human Condition, has provided relevant analysis that applies to this major problem
facing American society today.
Modern American society intertwines the personal and public ... Show more content on

The wealthy and influential have their personal lives made public on a daily basis through the media.
American society is greatly influenced by personal wealth, and that has taken away from the personal
freedom which the public realm is originally meant to provide.
Arendt s analysis during her time provides invaluable information that corresponds to the problems
with American society today. Arendt criticizes the collective society, that which encompasses both the
public and private realm, when she says:
The social realm, where the life process has established its own public domain, has let loose an
unnatural growth, so to speak, of the natural; and it is against this growth, not merely against society
but against the growing social realm, that the private and intimate, on the one hand, and the political
(in the narrower sense of the word), on the other, have proved incapable of defending themselves. (43)
Arendt makes a valid point discussing the freedom lost in the combination of private and public
realms, as well as the inability of one to avoid the two realms joining. She emphasizes the effect that
personal life has on public life when the two are blended. One s status in public is no longer of equal
status, like the citizens of ancient Greece, but now instead based on class. The main aspect that
determines class is wealth. Arendt regards the controversy that basing class on

I Really Enjoyed Holly Weeks Piece On Stressful Conversations
Intro
I really enjoyed Holly Weeks piece on stressful conversations. It aligns well with my own experience.
Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress gets high
very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation fail, this is a
thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the reader to
remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also provoking us to
examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with stressful
conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by describing the
processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally.
Know Thyself
Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point in
this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to evolve
without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author provided, in
retrospect we can see our own missteps and may wish we could have handled it differently. Holly
Weeks wants us to take a step back and observe that given one type of emotional situation we
probably make the same type of mistakes every time. The author has a good word for it, tactics,
though unlike the tactics deployed consciously when running a war or wining a race, these tactics are
ones the subconscious uses to

Symptoms And Treatment Of Five Nursing Diagnosis
Five Nursing Diagnosis
Acute pain related to lobectomy procedure and rib removal as evidenced by patient whimpering when
moving at rating her pain eight to ten out of ten throughout the day. I chose this as a high priority,
number one nursing diagnosis because of how high the patient rated her pain. Whether she was just
lying in bed, or moving around, she was in pain. The only thing that could somewhat decrease her
pain was pain medications, and even then, her pain only went down from a ten to and eight (Ackley
Ladwig, 2014).
Risk for infection related to surgical wound on her left upper back and drainage tube in left lung. I
chose this as the second nursing diagnosis and would also rate this high priority. The patient did not

This is the fifth nursing diagnosis and is a low priority. This is only low priority because the patient is
still able to get up and move, she just takes more time than usual and requires minimal assistance
(Ackley Ladwig, 2014).
Nursing Care Plan and Evaluation Acute pain related to lobectomy and rib removal as evidenced by
patient whimpering when she moved and rating her pain eight to ten out of ten throughout the day.
The predicted behavioral outcome is the patients pain will decrease from eight out of ten down to five
out of ten by noon on the day of care. Interventions to meet this goal include:
1. Administering the patient s pain medications as often as allowed. This is important to help maintain
the patient s pain at an acceptable level (Unbound Medicine, 2014).
2. Assist the patient in movement. This helps to decrease the patient s pain by taking some of the
weight off her (Unbound Medicine, 2014).
3. Position the patient in the most comfortable position. Positioning has a large effect one pain. The
patient preferred to be sitting upright in her chair.
4. Provide or promote nonpharmacological pain management for the patient. Things such as a cool,
calm, therapeutic environment (Unbound Medicine, 2014).
5. Continuously ask the patient to rate her pain. Providing the rating, location and type of pain. This is
useful in determining if pain reduction measures are effective Unbound Medicine, 2014).

Where The Red Fern Grows Characters
Have you ever seen two humans and noticed that they are very different from each other? All humans
have different appearances no matter how small, just like all dogs. In addition, every human and dog
faces conflicts in different ways. These differences make everyone unique. Old Dan and Little Ann are
two redbone coonhound characters in the novel, Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls, that
have different appearances and methods of dealing with conflict. However, they both have similar
personalities. First of all, Dan and Ann have very different methods of handling conflict. Old Dan does
not think much before he goes into action. Billy announces, It was the voice of Old Dan ... In some
way he had gotten into that old muskrat den (107). He was on the tail of a coon when he got stuck in
the den. Dan did not think about it before he tried to find the coon. This demonstrates that he is
impulsive. There is also another time that Dan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Billy reports, Old Dan, seeing the fate of his little friend (Little Ann), had quit the chase and come
back to help her (115). Dan quit chasing the coon and went over to assist Little Ann when she was in
trouble. This shows that Old Dan is loyal to Little Ann. Also, Old Dan only hunts with one specific
hound. Billy announces, [Old Dan] would not hunt with another hound, other than Little Ann ... he
would not hunt, even with me, unless Little Ann was with him (102). Old Dan again shows that he is
loyal because he does not hunt by himself with Billy or with other hounds. Similarly, Little Ann left to
help Old Dan. The author composes, There, scratched deep in the soft leaves were two little beds. One
was smaller than the other (93). Ann left the doghouse and went to aid Dan s effort in keeping the
coon in the big tree. They slept together in beds they made all night to make sure it did not leave. This
reveals that Little Ann is loyal to Old Dan. Both characters are very

There are many different ways to achieve personal enlightenment, including talking to trusted family and friends, not trying to mimic others, and being proud of oneself. In Heather Henson s novel Dream of Night, Shiloh finds her own personality with the help of a very special horse. Shiloh is a hardened foster child who meets an old and abused racehorse. Her relationship with the racehorse changes her demeanor and lets the other side of her speak up. While she is sassy and rude at the beginning of the book, by the end she is grinning back. A little. Not too much, not yet... (Henson, 207). She has found her true voice, the person she is meant to be by enlisting the help of a trusted friend. However, Buddy succeeds in shifting the focus of the gaze to be socially oppressive. In The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood is a woman of the 1950s who goes against the belief that women should marry; in fact, she declares, I m never going to get married (Plath 93) while being proposed to by Buddy Willard. In his proposal, Buddy asks the question, How would you like to be Mrs. Buddy Willard? (92). In other words, he asks her if she would like to serve as an extension of himself. He is adhering to the Victorian notions of marriage. Her identity of Esther Greenwood will be erased with her marriage to Buddy Willard. Not only does society want Esther to succumb to her inferiority, but a specific man does as well. Society s convictions in regards to women were so powerful that they entrenched themselves into the mind of a man Esther knew since childhood. These convictions aid Buddy in taking on the oppressive form of the male gaze. He does not view her sexually, but rather as something for him to own someone for him to stamp his own name onto. In Aunt Jennifer s Tigers, Aunt Jennifer does not serve as her own narrator, but is rather analyzed through the eyes of who is presumed to be her niece. Whether it s Johnny Appleseed in the US or the Talking Foxes of Eritrea. Myths give birth to heroes. And heroes plant different seeds in people depending upon the moral of the story. Such messages are portrayed in Edith Hamilton s book, Mythology , which depicts different heroes with different stories. Heroes are more inspirational when depicted as flawed due to their likability to human beings, thereby being more relatable to common people and spurring confidence that they re just as capable. In reality, however, the United States has various government regulations on our country s market. The amount of regulation that is necessary is a continuing debate among politicians and economists to this day. Some would say that the key to a successful market economy is to remove government restrictions in order to force businesses to provide superior products and services at affordable prices. Yet, others assert that government regulations are essential in protecting consumers, stemming from the assumption that corporations are not always looking out for the public s interest. Of course, there are various advantages and disadvantages associated with each level of regulation, however it is safe to assume that there must be a balance between an unregulated free market and a regulated economy in order to protect people and the environment and allow the economy to flourish. Advantages of a Free Market Economy A free market is driven by individual innovation and the concept that hard work and initiative will be rewarded with success. Because of the ingenuity factor, there is plenty of competition in the market place. Therefore, the rivalry between companies provides the best possible product to the customer at the best price. The organization Psychologist for the Ethical Treatment of Animals believes in observing animals instead of experimenting on them (Meyer). Another known organization is People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). An organization that is in favor of animal experimentation is called Pro Test and is located in the United Kingdom (UK). This organization thinks that experimenting on animals may help humans. About 95% of animals are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act like reptiles, birds and mice ( Animal Testing ). Experimentation on animals should not be permitted in any country, including the United States, because it is cruel and inhumane, because we have developed new technology that can replace these experiments, and because sometimes the results that are found are not directly relevant to humans. Animal testing is a cruel and inhumane thing to do to a living organism. PETA believes that during experiments the animals are not protected from suffering and there are no laws that are in place to protect them. The animals in laboratories are treated like cheap disposable laboratory equipment. • 12. Dracula Mina Essay In the late 1800 s an independent and fierce woman was not a common occurrence and usually frowned upon, but in this strict time period one author creates his main character to be not only Victorian woman but also a modern woman. Dracula was written in 1897 by Bram Stoker, allowing it to become a treasured Gothic story. Due to this fact, there are many instances where Victorian virtues are implied in the story. These virtues are especially influenced on not the characters development but their fate as well.. One major example of this Mina Harker, who is not only an ideal Victorian woman but also a modern one. This leading lady exhibits many Victorian and modern characteristics. In Bram Stoker s Dracula, Mina Harker portrays the ideal Victorian woman while still creating an image of the modern woman with her many skillful characteristics. To begin with, the characteristics that make up Mina are in fact Victorian aspects. Before Mina s characteristics are analyzed, it is important to understand what defined a Victorian woman in the late 1800 s. These strict women held a major role of keeping the home and children together and the overall action of tending to the husband. Pauline Thomas further describes these women as, Whether single or married all Victorian women were expected to be weak and helpless, a fragile delicate flower incapable of making decisions beyond selecting a menu and ensuring her many children were taught morals...A woman s prime use was to maintain a ... These are caused by a left to right shunt, when the connection between the two atria allows blood to pass from the left side of the heart to the right. This occurs because the pressure in the left side of the heart is naturally higher than the right. The extra blood from the left atrium overloads the right atrium and the right ventricle, causing right heart dilation, and subsequent heart failure (5). If left untreated, patients can develop reversal of the ASD, resulting in a right to left shunt; this is known as Eisenmenger s syndrome. Other complications include atrial tachyarrhythmias or stroke (21, 22). Outdoor Exercise Conventional wisdom was supported in 2003 by research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which found evidence to support the long held general belief that exercisers profit from many physical and psychological benefits of physical activity (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2003; Plante, Cage, Clements, Stover, 2006). Plante, Cage, Clements, and Stover (2006) sought to further the idea behind Plante, Aldridge, Bogden, and Hanelin s (2003) study (which built off of the CDC s 2003 research) concerning virtual reality s role in the psychological benefits of exercise. Plante, Aldridge, Bogden, and Hanelin s (2003) study included virtual reality scenes of walking through a college campus that were viewed by participants. This team of researchers paired virtual reality with exercise, and found that virtual reality paired with exercise can improve the psychological effects of exercise in a positive way (2006). Plante, Cage, Clements, and Stover (2006) looked to replicate similar results as well as investigate indoor vs. outdoor exercise benefits. Plante, Cage, Clements, and Stover declared two hypotheses for their study. First, they hypothesized that similar results to the Plante, Aldrige, Bogden, and Hanelin (2003) study would be found; specifically that virtual reality with exercise and also exercise alone would lead to more energy and less tiredness than virtual reality without exercise (2006). Thomas King revisits the history of the Native American people in his stories and tells them in a symbolic and metaphorical manner, with his simple touch of humour. The stories Totem and The Coyote Columbus Story are based on historical events, where in they describe the real historical events which have occurred, rather than the ones written down otherwise. The story Totem illustrates the cultural biased society s attitude towards the Aboriginal people of North America. The story Totem by Thomas King captures several such incidences and tells them in a bit magical and symbolic way. It tells us the story about Aboriginal people and their three centuries of history shared with the European. The Coyote Columbus Story by Thomas King talks about the sailors who claimed they had found the land of India and China, which was North America in reality, and corrects their claim in this story by retelling the true events which had actually happened. The events in this story take place at the time when Columbus arrived in North America, unlike in Totem where its events take place in a post Columbus period. For example, it is not necessary to show an actual hindrance to trade between Member States: it is quite sufficient that the measure should merely be capable of such an effect. It is interesting to note that a measure which is not capable of hindering trade between Member States, which merely affects the flow of trade within a Member State, will not breach Article 28. • 22. My Goals In Life Everyone has dreams and aspirations on what they want to be when they grow up. I remember changing my ideal career three times as a kid. My heart was for sure set on being a fire fighter, then video game creator, and lastly a United States Marine. We all have passions and dreams that we want to achieve and for some they are very much attainable, but for the rest we need to realize it might not work out. This seems counter intuitive to what society tells us. Follow your dreams, chase your heart, but if we re going to be honest not all of us are going to win the American idol and make it big. Not to push you away from pursuing your dreams, but finding a secure job is a wider choice. This is something I had to decide when choosing my career, I determined my passion, and what I was good at, then found a way to pursue both. This process helped me find the career path as well as the colleges I would need to obtain my goal. Music has always been a big part of my life, I play five instruments decently and I love the feeling that music gives. In the past, I ve played alongside a professional blue grass player, as well as performed in churches in the San Diego area. As I get older it s something that I m going to continue to pursue. Another passion of mine is serving God in preaching. As a teenager, I helped teach Sunday School classes, the eleven o clock kid s church, and even Vacation Bible School during the summer. My two passions in life are music and preaching, both I can see myself doing years down the line. However, both of my passions won t provide financial security. Rather than forgetting your dreams, find a career that would enable you to pursue them. I m extrovert in nature, and in the past, I ve known myself to be decent with numbers. One day I was talking to a CEO of a foster agency, she told me how if I did the book work for an agency I can make minimum $80,000 a year. I had a foreknowledge of what book keeping was, and I decided it would be the perfect job to provide financial security. Once I determined a career field I had to plan what colleges to attend. To get an accountant degree, and pursue my other goals along the way I would need to attend two colleges. I spoke to my mom about the best ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Comparing Orwell And Didion As A Writer By which I mean not a good writer or a bad writer but simply a writer, a person whose most absorbed and passionate hours are spent arranging words on pieces of paper. Had my credential been in order I would never have become a writer. Had I been blessed with even limited access to my own mind there would have been no reason to write. I write entirely to find out what I m thinking, what I m looking at what I see and what it means. I know several people who would fit this description, they write to figure out what they want to say. I on the other hand, have to know want picture I want to paint for the reader before I begin to write. Last semester, I had the opportunity to do some creative writing for the first time; the writing would flow smoothly when I had a clear idea of what I want to convey or become stunted when I lost sight of what I meant to express. Although, I can observe the benefits of both styles of writing, I personally relate to the Orwellian (purpose driven) type of writing for that reason. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Probation is a form of sentence for violating the law, which suspends the convicted offender s sentence for a period of time and releases the offender back into the community under specific conditions (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The start of probation can be linked to England s criminal law. Before the mid nineteenth century offenders received determinate sentences in prison (Rank, n.d.). Determinate sentence is a non negotiable sentence of incarceration for the specific amount of time as required by statute for that specific crime (U.S. Legal, 2015). Determinate sentencing became problematic because prisons were often overcrowded, which forced governors to issue pardons or prison wardens had to randomly release inmates to make room for new intake (Rank, n.d.). Captain Alexander Maconochie and Sir Walter Crofton are credited for implementing early parole system in England (Rank, n.d.). Maconochie was governor of an English penal colony at Norfolk Island (Rank, n.d.). Convicted English offenders were transported to Australia from England and from Australia to the island; unfortunately, the conditions were extremely bad for the offenders (Rank, n.d.). Maconochie discontinued determinate sentencing and created a mark system (Rank, n.d.). Under the mark system , inmates could be granted release from prison based upon their hard work and good behavior (Rank, n.d.). It is difficult to find a war in Africa, especially post World War Two, where mercenaries were not employed by at least one side, if not both. With the growth of professionalized military companies and the loss of political will to deploy conventional forces by Western countries, the usage of mercenaries is only going to increase. External Environment Of The Brewing Industry Introduction This report will examine the external environment of the brewing industry using a PESTEL analysis and the internal capabilities of ABInBev using a value chain analysis in order to determine how the firm appears to compete. Following this, strategies for improving the competitive position of the company will be outlined. ABInBev is a multinational beverage and brewing company based in Belgium. It is the largest brewer in the world with a 20.8% market share (Statista, 2016) and is also one of the world s top five consumer goods companies. Figure 1: Market share by volume (Statista, 2016) The brewing industry is interesting to examine due to its relatively unique structure. Up until November 2015, the market was dominated by four main players, known informally as the Big Four . AB InBev was the largest, followed by SABMiller, Heineken and Carlsberg. In November 2015, however, ABInBev and SABMiller agreed a formal $107 billion takeover deal, combining the brewers into a company which industry experts claim would control around half of the industry s profits (Mickle, 2015). As a result of the sheer size and complexity of the merger, it is anticipated that the deal will not be finalised until the second half of 2016 as ABInBev must negotiate with anti trust regulators around the world with respect to their potential monopolistic position. As the deal is yet to be completed, this report will analyse ABInBev independent of SABMiller. Environmental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Franco Zeffirelli brought Romeo and Juliet to the big screen in 1968, while Baz Luhrmann s version added a modern twist in 1997. This is no different for Marcel Camus s rendition of the classic Orpheus and Eurydice story. His version adds quite a twist from the greek original taking place in Rio during Carnival. The story follows the same like but the culture, and backdrop that envelopes the story is completely different. It is a quite authentic example of Carnival and the use of the music style Bossa Nova during the mid 20th century. • 32. Descriptive Essay Volcano Allie Koza Professor Baer English 17 October 2017 Descriptive Essay The word volcano comes from the little island of vulcano in the Mediterranean Sea, these fire fountains can reach hundreds of feet into the sky (Lindop). Early Romans believed this mountain belonged to vulcan, the blacksmith of the gods. Within the last twenty years, a volcanologists have been working hard to learn how to predict eruptions and keep people safe. Ash plumes and steam rose into the bright blue sky as the underground earthquake shook the land and rattled windows all across the eighteen mile town. As the jet circled the island, in view of lovely beaches and emerald water, looming over this lush paradise was the screaming volcano. Volcanos erupt when the pressure inside of them becomes so great that the magma surges up and forces its way out. An exploding volcano can rip apart a mountain in just seconds, when the eruption is over, a landscape is changed forever. The united states is home to more volcanos than any other country except Indonesia, and Japan. The majority of these volcanoes are in Alaska. Until recently, there was no way to predict when a volcano would blow, although volcanoes give off many warning signs before they erupt. Including smaller earthquakes beneath the volcano, slight inflation, or swelling. The rising magma eventually causes the solid rock to break, sending earthquake signals. Most volcanoes give warning signs beginning weeks or months before they blow (Lindop). Lumps of Lava cool into solid rocks as they fly through the sky, forming rounded chunks that can be also known as bombs, while pieces with corners and sharp edges are named blocks. Both bombs and blocks can cause a great deal of damage. As the volcano begins to burst, the sky fills with choking, smoky powder, while it starts raining lava, and rock. The air warmed quicker than when you pour kerosene on a fire, with a sound so loud it circled the earth four times, red hot lava flows down the side of the volcano and magma spews out the top. The only taste in my mouth is the smoke coming from the lava, as the gas in the air turned all my silver jewelry black. Desalination Plants And Its Effects When one imagines southern California, they picture tall palm trees, crystal clear beaches, and the bright, radiating sun creating a golden glow on the people s skin. However, as southern California s four year drought drags on, the reality is the complete opposite. Rivers are drying up and run through SoCal with a steady current. The once very fertile soil has turned into dust: superfine, dry, and unpractical for farming. The almost too perfectly green grass has turned stiff and brown. At an attempt to accommodate its water supply needs, the Huntington Beach city is now constructing a desalination plant. Desalination makes millions of gallons of water by removing the salt and minerals in seawater or brackish water. Desalination has been practiced for decades in Israel and has been successful in other dry parts of the world. With the desalination plant, there are many benefits, such as the production of water and jobs. Nonetheless, there are also setbacks that come along with it such as the overuse of electricity and the production of brine. There are two sides on the construction of the Huntington Beach desalination plant. A payroll program needs to process paychecks for many employees. Practically everything you can imagine is done multiple times. Nobody is interested in repeating program source code 500 times for some task that is to be performed 500 times. • 44. America’s Mergence of Personal and Public Realms in... America s Mergence of Personal and Public Realms in Arendt s The Human Condition America is a superpower, irrefutably the most dominant nation in the world. Underlining this supremacy, however, is the fact that America s society is facing several problems. Among these problems is what Hannah Arendt calls the emergence of society through the mergence of both the personal and public realms. This major problem has spawned numerous other problems, so has been chosen as the underlying cause for the tribulations of modern American society. Hannah Arendt, author of The Human Condition, has provided relevant analysis that applies to this major problem facing American society today. Modern American society intertwines the personal and public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wealthy and influential have their personal lives made public on a daily basis through the media. American society is greatly influenced by personal wealth, and that has taken away from the personal freedom which the public realm is originally meant to provide. Arendt s analysis during her time provides invaluable information that corresponds to the problems with American society today. Arendt criticizes the collective society, that which encompasses both the public and private realm, when she says: The social realm, where the life process has established its own public domain, has let loose an unnatural growth, so to speak, of the natural; and it is against this growth, not merely against society but against the growing social realm, that the private and intimate, on the one hand, and the political (in the narrower sense of the word), on the other, have proved incapable of defending themselves. (43) Arendt makes a valid point discussing the freedom lost in the combination of private and public realms, as well as the inability of one to avoid the two realms joining. She emphasizes the effect that personal life has on public life when the two are blended. One s status in public is no longer of equal status, like the citizens of ancient Greece, but now instead based on class. The main aspect that determines class is wealth. Arendt regards the controversy that basing class on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. I Really Enjoyed Holly Weeks Piece On Stressful Conversations Intro I really enjoyed Holly Weeks piece on stressful conversations. It aligns well with my own experience. Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress gets high very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation fail, this is a thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the reader to remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also provoking us to examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with stressful conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by describing the processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally. Know Thyself Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point in this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to evolve without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author provided, in retrospect we can see our own missteps and may wish we could have handled it differently. Holly Weeks wants us to take a step back and observe that given one type of emotional situation we probably make the same type of mistakes every time. The author has a good word for it, tactics, though unlike the tactics deployed consciously when running a war or wining a race, these tactics are ones the subconscious uses to ... Symptoms And Treatment Of Five Nursing Diagnosis Five Nursing Diagnosis Acute pain related to lobectomy procedure and rib removal as evidenced by patient whimpering when moving at rating her pain eight to ten out of ten throughout the day. I chose this as a high priority, number one nursing diagnosis because of how high the patient rated her pain. Whether she was just lying in bed, or moving around, she was in pain.
