For the Myers-Briggs Personality Test I received the letters: I,
S, T and J (Personality Pathways, 1997). After reviewing what
these letters specifically mean, I have to both agree and
disagree. The websites states that I am “dependable, reliable
and trustworthy” (Personality Pathways, 1997) which I can
agree with. I am a dependable employee and person and I’ve
always considered myself reliable and trustworthy. I am very
stubborn in the fact, if a task is given to me I will see it through
until it is finished and I often times do things individually.
Sometimes I struggle with managing my time with everything
going on, but I try my best to stay on task and make sure things
are finished in a timely manner. I can’t exactly agree with the
statement when I “purchase something, it is after careful
consideration; rarely will they buy something without having a
known need or use for it” (Personality Pathways, 1997).
Sometimes I make purchases on a whim and without
consideration or research, I’m getting better though. On the flip
side, I am conscious of my money and how I spend it and I
budget constantly. I completely agree that I try to stay away
from surprises; I like to know what is going on at all times.
As far as how my personality relates to my job and tasks, I am
determined to get things done when they need to be done and
how they should be done. I always want my work to be done to
the best of my ability but I will make sure it is done correctly. I
feel that I am a trustworthy person and that goes a long way at
work and also at home with friends and family. Trust is
something that is earned and not just given away and when
people trust me, it is important.
Knowing your personality can benefit in so many ways;
knowing how someone thinks and manages themselves can help
to create a positive workforce. There are several different
personality traits that when they are put together can create a
great team. Knowing how you are can take you far when being
put into a team with other qualities that can be utilized.
