The Melting Point Analysis of Crude and Recrystallized...
Abstract Acetic Anhydride and p Aminophenol were heated in a vial attached to an air condenser to
synthesize crude acetaminophen, resulting in 0.097 grams (47.48% yield). The crude acetaminophen
was then recrystallized in a solvent of water and methanol over heat resulting in 0.082 grams (39.61%
yield) of pure acetaminophen. Melting points of both crude and pure acetaminophen were taken, and
found to be 165.9 170.9°C and 168.2 171.5°C, respectively. The literature melting point of
acetaminophen is 169.5 171.0°C, indicating that our final product was pure.

An automatic pipet was used to measure 0.450 mL water and 0.165 mL acetic anhydride and was
added to the conical vial. A spin vane was placed into the vial and an air condenser was attached.
Heating:
The mixture was heated at 120°C using an aluminum block and was stirred gently. After all of the
solid dissolved, it was heated for 20 additional minutes to ensure the reaction was complete.
Isolation of Crude Acetaminophen: The vial was removed from the heat and cooled to room
temperature. The spin vane was rinsed with 2 3 drops of warm water over the conical vial. The vial
was cooled to room temperature then placed in an ice bath for 15 minutes. The liquid was decanted
from the mixture and the resulting crystals were dried on filter paper. The crystals were then placed on
a watch glass for further drying. The crystals were weighed and a small sample was placed into a
capillary tube for melting point determination.
Crystallization of Acetaminophen: The product was placed in a Craig tube and several drops of hot
(100°C) solvent (50% water, 50% methanol, by volume) was added and heated until all of the crystals
dissolved. The Craig tube was plugged and set in an Erlenmeyer flask to cool. Crystallization was
induced once the mixture was at room temperature by scratching the inner wall of the tube. It was then
placed into an ice bath for ten minutes until crystallization was complete. The tube was then

How Youths Are Deemed As The Perpetrators Of Today s...
When the words youth and young people come up there are different connotations that come along
with it, some people may feel very positive towards the youth of today. However, some people feel the
complete opposite and have negative views altogether. In some cases, people believe they have
Ephebiphobia which is a fear of young people, with 1.5 million Britons considering to move houses
last year and about 1.7 million people not going out after dark to avoid youngsters (Lewis, 2016).
Researchers are fearing that the public are alienating the youth and A rise in social Paedophobia will
simply make matters worse Nick Pierce the IPPR (Institute for Public Policy Research). In this essay I
will be discussing how youths are deemed as the perpetrators in today s society and how this theory
came about. Furthermore, discussing how young people are also vulnerable to being victims as well,
but are also under protected. Adding to that I will discuss the UK s policing structure such as stop and
search and taking young people into custody and whether it has been successful for the past years in
England and Wales or not.
So what defines youth or a young person? criminologists for years have attempted to find a definition
for youth. However, criminologist John Muncie has summed it up well: An ill defined and variable
period of the life span between infancy and adulthood. (Davies, Francis, and Greer, 2007). Although
this is a definition people still don t quite understand what

Gay Fm History
First broadcast at midnight on Sunday 2nd September 1990, Gay FM began life after the board of
4CCR accepted a 3 page submission for the programme, including 100 signatures in support, and an
example of the gay news items to be used in the show.
Arriving in Cairns from Sydney a few weeks before, with some experience presenting Sydney s Wild
G.A.L.S. (Gay and Lesbian Show), Terry Barrie put together the submission and became host of the
show.
Allocated a challenging time slot, starting at midnight Sunday, the show filled two hours, though after
5 successful years, in 1995 the board agreed to a 3 hour show at the more accessible time of 9 PM. In
that same year, 4CCR expanded its broadcasting capacity north to Port Douglas, south to Innisfail, ...

Camp Happy Valley Case Study Analysis
Introduction to Organizational Behaviour
Team Case Analysis Project:
Camp Happy Valley
November 22, 2010
Part 1: Cameron s Bases of Power and Influence Strategy Power relates to influence because in order
for a person to be in a position where they have power, others must be dependent on them for one
thing or another. The greater the subjects depend on the person, the more power a person has. When
one is then in a position of power, they can influence others who are dependent on them in order for
the needs of the dependent subjects to be satisfied. Influence cannot be exerted over people who are
not dependent on the person, thus leaving that person without power. Dependency is created when the
resource a person controls is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are able to work with their friends, they have the flexibility to return home instead of stay
overnight, and they can work with children (Camp Happy Valley, 3). These are all examples of
extrinsic motivators because they are common, routine outcomes that are known and expected by the
employee. They also relate to the motivation hygiene theory because these are all characteristics of a
job (relationship with peers, relationship with subordinates, and work conditions) that are shown to be
hygiene factors. Therefore, they can provide dissatisfaction or no dissatisfaction but not necessarily
satisfaction. This is important to note when considering the number of staff that return after working at
Happy Valley for a summer. Overall, despite the super staff s lack of organization in the hiring process
(not being able to contact references, very broad scale for rating employees), it appears that the camp
has had no problems in actually recruiting capable new staff to work for them each summer. It appears
that the extrinsic motivators, or hygiene factors, are enough to recruit many talented young adults.
Problems only appear among staff after the recruiting process, which is what hinders their motivation
to return. Staff is motivated to return because the quality of their experience, the leadership skills they
gain, the social atmosphere and because of the campers (3). Looking at motivation hygiene theory
again, these tend to be intrinsic factors (with the

Persuasive Essay On Censorship
They say that the less you know the better, which couldn t be more true. Why bother with information
that will cause more stress and unnecessary worry in your life? This is where censorship comes into
play. Whether it be about the world or your country, there will always be something you do not know.
People automatically assume that it s a bad thing when certain information is kept away from society.
But is it? I mean, censored material is censored for a reason! It s not a difficult concept to understand.
Daily occurrences are often things that are seen on the internet as well as on TV. Do you really want to
know about some of the events that happen on a daily basis? Events that could scar a person
physically, emotionally, and psychologically? Events that would be deemed inappropriate for certain
ages? Or what about actions that could be repeated again negatively? No one wants to live in a
country like North Korea; however, some action is necessary. North Korea has censored much of their
country, specifically, the internet. Different aspects of speech are removed, including hate speech. The
case is similar to different countries as well. In Canada, judges can deem what hate speech is and have
it removed from the internet (Brandon Gaille). Having a judge, someone who is of high order and
education, would be beneficial to society in this case.
I know it may be tough for some people to understand, but censorship is something that benefits
society, especially when it comes

The Star Of An Inconvenient Truth
Nowadays, individuals of societies have adapted a self centered mindset and a loss of consideration
for the world they live in. In order to come across an audience who have lost a sense of ethical
conduct, Al Gore, the star of An Inconvenient Truth, produced by Davis Guggenheim, formulates a
thorough presentation that exposes the foreboding threat of global warming, proclaiming that
humanity s only hope in resolving this worldwide issue will result from selfless, human action. Gore s
use of ethos through real life recordings and graphic simulations support Gore s claim that his
motivation stems from obvious, moral reasons; however, his inclusion of his past failures and
mentioning of his recent success through personal flashbacks and ... Show more content on

Such a direct and visual exposure ensures that the audience can grasp a vivid and wholesome
comprehension of the foreboding disasters that can follow global warming, emphasized by Gore s
claim that, I don t really consider this a political issue, I consider it to be a moral issue (Inconvenient).
Gore s original claim, that moral and ethical reasons drive him towards raising awareness of global
warming, aligns with his heavy reliance on ethos from visual representation to persuade the audience.
However, Gore s ongoing references to his past history and recent success challenges the notion that
he finds inspiration from moral and ethical reasons alone, but rather indicates Gore s underlying
motivation to use pathos and gain validity from the audience in order to make up for his past failure as
a politician. During many occasions throughout the documentary, Gore provides insight of his past
experiences, showing real news broadcasts that outline his presidency and even referencing directly to
the audience, such as jokingly claiming, I m Al Gore, I used to be the next president of the United
States of America , and following up the audience s laughter by humorously adding, I don t find that
particularly funny as the first impression he has on the viewers (Inconvenient). Later on,

Suicide s Note By Langston Hughes
Suicide s Note Not all poems fall into the category of epic poetry or ballads. Some pieces are short
and concise rather than lengthy and elegant. A shorter poem may focus more thoroughly on diction, or
the author s specific choice of words, rather than things such as rhyme scheme or meter. Langston
Hughes poem Suicide s Note is a perfect example of this. Because it is only twelve words long, every
single word is important and chosen carefully. This poem uses many literary techniques, none more
than diction, to achieve its purpose. which is to focus on the split second decision that is suicide. To
begin, Hughes uses his diction to create a distinct mood for his poem. For example, when one reads
the poem without first reading the title, The calm, Cool face of the river Asked me for a kiss, they may
create in their own head a calm, positive or happy mood. The words may remind one of summer days
at the lake or the beautiful view of a river valley. The author does this on purpose as he wants the
reader to be relaxed. With the title, Suicide s Note, attached, however, the mood automatically
becomes more solemn. Hughes gives his readers this title because he wants them to understand that
this poem has a meaning beyond what can be seen at first glance. Nothing in these lines really reveals
a tone, or the author s attitude toward the subject, which makes the mood that much more more
important. The author establishes that his, or anyone s, thoughts or feelings

1. Address the following issues: A) Define the term incremental cash flow. As the project, at least
constructively, will be financed in part by debt, should the cash flows include interest expense?
Explain.
Incremental cash flow is the additional operating cash flow that an organization obtains from taking
on a new project. Yes the cash flow should include interest expense as burrowing money was a direct
result of taking on this project.
B) The hospital already owns the site for the center, so should any cost be attributed to the land?

2. Answer the following questions A) What is the project s payback? What type of information do
decision makers derive from the payback?
This project s payback is 4.1 years. Decision makers use this information to determine and measure
how long the project will take before it pays for itself. This could be seen to similar as a breakeven
analysis.
B) What is the project s net present value (NPV)? Explain the meaning of the NPV.
The project s NPV is $881,229. NPV is the present value of the annual free cash flows of the
investment minus the initial investment cost. This means that we take all the future cash flows from an
investment, discount them back to their present value today and subtract the initial cost. This will then
be telling you what your future money is worth today.
C) What is the project s internal rate of return (IRR)? Explain the economic rationale behind IRR.
The project s IRR is 12.9%. The economic rationale behind IRR is that IRR converts different
payment returns overtime into a single value and represents this number as a percentage. IRR
calculates the effective percentage return that one is going to be receiving.
D) What is the project s modified internal rate of return (MIRR)? How does MIRR differ from IRR?
The project s MIRR is 11.8%. The MIRR and IRR percentage difference is 1.1%. The IRR assumes
the cash flows are reinvested at the IRR while the MIRR assumes that the

Essay on Satan in John Milton s Paradise Lost
Who is Satan?
Satan s definitions include the advocate of God, a personification of evil, the fallen angel, a spirit
created by God, and also the accuser. People see Satan differently, some know of his existence, others
think of him as just a myth, and there are those that just ignore him. John Milton s Paradise Lost tells
of Satan s banishment from Heaven and his gain of earth. He and his brigade have plotted war against
God and are now doomed to billow in the fiery pits of hell. Satan is a complex character with many
different qualities. God is a character who we, as Christians, know about but do not completely
understand. We also do not completely understand Satan. Some may think they know Satan but when
asked Is Satan divine? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God throws Satan and his followers into hell for their defiance. Satan shows rebellion towards God,
this is the first rebellion there ever was. According to Webster s dictionary rebellion is organized
opposition to authority, a conflict in which one faction tries to take control from another. I think
rebellion also includes disobedience. John Carrey says that in the epic Satan concedes his own
criminality, and his own responsibility for his fall. He facilitates between remorse and defiance. He
confesses that his rebellion was completely unjustifiable, that he had the same freewill and power to
stand as all God s creatures, and that he therefore has nothing to accuse but heavens free love dealt
equally to all (134). Basically Satan did this to himself. We do not really understand why Satan defied
God and we probably would not understand.
Satan goes from the most beautiful to the ugliest because of his defiance. John Carrey speaks of
Milton s Satan saying Satan as archangel, before his fall, is never shown by Milton, but this stage of
his existence is often alluded to, as is the fact that some of his archangelic power powers remain,
though we cannot be quite sure which. Hence Satan, as a fictional character, gains a hidden dimension
and a past (133). We know Satan has a past, it is just not presented by Milton. Satan once lived in a
universe full of happiness, joy, and eternal glorification and was known in

King Alfred the Great was not perfect. There is little evidence of it. In fact, most information used

to use him as a symbol for their political agendas. King Alfred the Great was not as great as he is

Essay On How To Talk To Artists At Art Festivals
How to Talk to Artists at Art Festivals The Do s and Don ts (Warning: You ve probably been guilty of

This article popped up in my newsfeed over the weekend and reminded me of the hundreds of other
What Not to Say to a (fill in the blank) lists on the Internet. The general tone of most of them is
snarky, but it s snark veiled as an informative piece to educate people about proper etiquette.
Here are a few examples if you re not familiar:
From the How to Talk to Artists at Art Festivals list of what not to ask:
How did you make that?
There is a fine line with this one, the author responds, as it s all about the context. Often, this question

Yes, I got it. Actually, wait. I ll probably forget by the time I get to the office and write something you

really bother me. It s part of the job. Shouldn t adults be able to handle people not being Emily Post in
every situation?
As for people not understanding me as a writer like people may not understand the plight of the artist
or bartender I typically assume this is the case. I assume people don t know how many hours I spend
at meetings or doing research to get one 600 word story, because why would they? My suspicion is
that these lists are like trade magazines and are read primarily by members of the niche group (artist,
adoptive parent, bartender) more than they are by the intended audience. But if I m wrong, instead of
keeping insensitive, obtuse comments at bay they create an atmosphere of fear. Instead of saying
something insensitive, which may very well have been unintentional, people might decide not to
communicate at all because they don t want to offend. The last thing I want, especially as a journalist,
is for people to be afraid to talk to me openly.
Don t get me wrong I love a good list (grocery lists, to do lists, playlists), and study after study shows
that the brain responds well to them. Umberto Eco told The Atlantic the list has an irresistible magic
and in cultural history has prevailed over and over again. Agreed.

Gallipoli Movie Review Essay
The film Gallipoli takes place during World War I s Gallipoli campaign in 1915. The two main
characters in the film are Archy and Frank. Archy and Frank are from Western Australia and they both
enlist to fight in Gallipoli. Archy is an extremely fast runner who meets Frank at an athletics
competition. We can see from the beginning that Archy is eager to join the war. After being turned
down because he was underage, he goes to Perth, anxious for someone to accept him into the light
horsemen. Frank, however, is skeptical about Australians wanting to join the war. He tells Archy that it
s not our war to fight . Despite this statement, Frank eventually joins up into the Infantry.
The story revolves around Frank and Archy s experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Archy and Frank stick together through all of the war training exercises in Egypt and they fight
together on the front at Gallipoli.
Another element of mate ship is shown in the last part of the film. When the final battle of Gallipoli
approaches, Archy persuades Major Barton to assign Frank as his runner because Archy knows that
Frank does not have as much commitment as he does on the fighting service. Archy gets Frank a safer
position and decided to sacrifice his own life for his best mate. (Gammage)
Some more ideals that are glorified in the film are bravery and honor. The experiences at Gallipoli
gave Australians a new identity which made them distinguishable from any other nation. At the start of
the film we see that almost everyone wants to enlist in the war. Although many Australian men enlist
totally naive to the dangers awaiting them, once they are in Gallipoli they fight fearlessly, with the
attitude that they are doing it for their country. Anyone who is studying Australian history would do
well to watch this film. The film is historically accurate which means that students can use it as a
direct source of information and evidence. The fact that the film is portrayed as a dramatized story
makes the many aspects of Australia and its participation of World War I much easier to understand
than a any text book would. (Broadbent)
The film creates a feeling of empathy which

Essay on Ethics of In Vitro Fertilization
In Vitro Fertilization
The unexamined life is not worth living. With these words, Socrates stated the creed of reflective men
and women and set the task for ethics: to seek, with the help of reason, a consistent and defensible
approach to life and its moral dilemmas (Walters 22). Ethical inquiry is important to us when we are
unsure of the direction in which we are heading. New philosophy calls all in doubt, wrote John Donne
in the wake of the Copernican Revolution and of Charles I s violent death, suggesting that new
thoughts had challenged old practices (Donne). Today, new practices in the biomedical sciences are
challenging old thoughts: New medicine calls all in doubt (Walters 22).
Few moral convictions are more deeply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the study of ethics is all about what is right and what is wrong, it is not possible to come to a
correct conclusion unless one is directly appointed by God to make this conclusion. God is the only
One who can correctly decree what is ethical and unethical; we as imperfect humans should not even
attempt to do this job.
IVF raises many of these difficult moral issues. If the above conceptions about the nature of ethics
were correct, however, discussion of these issues would either be futile (because morality is a matter
of personal choice or opinion) or superfluous (because morality is what a divine or secular authority
says it is) (Walters 23). In this paper, I want to suggest that it is not only possible, but also necessary to
inquire into the ethics of such practices as IVF because the fact that we can do something does not
mean that we ought to do it.
To begin with, I will provide the basic medical facts involving IVF to give a solid understanding of
what goes into the whole process and what facts involving this process cause the questioning of the
ethical and moral issues. Infertility affects about 4.9 million couples in the United States, or one in

Phantom Behind The Opera
The Phantom of the Opera: Behind the Mask
When many people think of The Phantom of the Opera, they think of the popular Broadway musical
written by Andrew Lloyd Webber. However, Webber had another vision in mind, a film adaptation of
his beloved musical that he announced back in 1989. In 2004 that dream became a reality when it was
released for the world to enjoy. Still, some lovers of the live performance argue that the film doesn t
have the same feel or emotion that one would get from the play. Although, this adaption doesn t give
the audience the feeling of a live performance, it does give one a unique experience in its direction,
music, acting and special effects that no other form can achieve.

Without using any a list actors, but mostly new faces at the time. Emmy Rossum, who was 16 when

seems born to play Christine, the trusting ingénue (Puig). It is possibly she even upstage the talented
Sarah Brightman with her portrayal of Christine. On the other hand, her counterpart Raoul, who was
played by Patrick Wilson was not as successful as the swashbuckling hero. Although, his voice did
help distract one from what he lacked in other areas. US Today s review says Butler s brooding
Phantom is a much more compelling screen presence, and the half of his face we do see is manly and
handsome (Puig). Gerald Butler played the phantom and he did this with ease, even though at the time
of its release he didn t hold any stardom. His voice was manly, seductive and he hits some high notes
that one wouldn t expect from this ruggedly handsome man. The only actress who didn t sing was
Minnie Driver, who played the part of the Carlotta, but she does sing the only new song Webber
composed in the credits. As for her acting, she was hilarious as the obnoxious flat note diva and bore

Scarlet Fever Research Paper
Disease: Scarlet fever
B. Scarlet fever is an acute and communicable disease. The symptoms associated with scarlet fever are
a red rash that feels like sandpaper, a sore throat, and a high fever. It is a disease that mainly affects
children who are 5 15 years old, but anyone can get scarlet fever. (CDC, 2017). Scarlet fever is
acquired through a bacterial infection caused by group A strep (CDC, 2017). This group A strep is the
same bacteria that causes strep throat (CDC, 2017). The fever is acquired when Group A strep bacteria
inhabits a person s nose and throat. Scarlet fever is caused by group A strep bacteria that is able to be
transmitted through contact with droplets from an infected person s sneeze or cough (CDC, 2017). In
addition, it could also spread when a person drinks from the same glass or eats from the same plate as
the person who is ill (CDC, 2017). This means that scarlet fever can be transmitted in an airborne or
vehicle borne way. Taken from a publication in the pharmacist ... Show more content on

Treatment: With scarlet fever, prevention is more important than intervention because there is no
vaccine for scarlet fever. If someone is infected with scarlet fever, a doctor can prescribe antibiotics
which help clear up symptoms faster and reduce spread to other people (CDC, 2010). Antibiotics are
useful because there help get rid of scarlet fever faster.

Engineering Performance-Based Fire Codes
Preliminary views on implementing Engineering Performance Based Fire Codes in Hong Kong: What
should be done? Abstract Engineering performance based fire codes (EPBFC) are to be developed in
Hong Kong. Before implementing EPBFC, or even writing down what should be done, such as the fire
safety objectives, current prescriptive fire codes should be understood. This will be a very big project
to be tackled step by step, certainly not regarded as a normal consultancy project which can be
completed within a short period of, say three years. Key points on suitability of implementing EPBFC
in Hong Kong, or preserving prescriptive codes but with active updating are discussed. Approaches
used overseas are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, before deciding whether to stick to prescriptive codes with active updating or to use EPBFC,
well planned long term investigational works should be carried out. This should also be a life long
research project for upgrading the code to solve new problems encountered. This was well recognized
by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). There, EPBFC has been studied since 1995 with
some support of Area of Strategic Development: Construction Industry Development Studies and
Research Centre. A journal [37] reporting the development, problems encountered, scientific
principles, engineering judgements and practical examples was established. It appears that if EPBFC
is applied properly by experts with good training in fire safety engineering such as those holding PhD
degrees, and with practical engineering experience up to Chartered Engineer status, the following can
be achieved as reported in the literature [13 34]: ← Better fire safety provisions than described in the
older versions of prescriptive codes for both passive and active fire safety measures [18]. ←
Regulations requiring systems that might not work in a fire or even give adverse effect can be pointed
out and updated. The requirements of installing sprinkler at high headroom atrium and in escape
staircases are obvious examples. This is similar to imposing the local speed limit of 50 km per hour in
downtown areas where almost all drivers will not pay attention to!

Three-Pronged Approach Analysis
Describe the three pronged approach to early detection of breast masses: mammography, clinical
breast exam, and self awareness.
Early detection by screening for breast masses involves a three pronged approach: mammography,
breast self examination, clinical breast examination. Women should have a baseline mammography
screening beginning at the age forty. Women who are at a high risk for breast cancer should have a
yearly exam beginning at age the age of thirty. A mammography is an X ray that allows health care
professionals to examine the breast tissue for any suspicious areas. Mammograms can often show a
breast abnormality before it can be self detected. The clinical breast exam is performed by a healthcare
professional that is trained to recognize different types of abnormalities and risk factors. The clinical
breast exams are conducted in office, typically completed by a family physician or gynecologist at
your annual exam. A self breast exam is something women should do once a month at home. Breast

The Existence Of Diabetes Mellitus
The existence of diabetes mellitus was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks when
individuals showed signs of excessive urination, rapid weight loss, and sweet tasting urine. Diagnosis
was, therefore, made by designated water tasters, who drank the urine of potential diabetes patients
searching for a sweet taste. Because diabetes patients are drained of fluids, the Greek philosopher
Apollonius coined the term diabetes for the disease, which means to siphon or to pass through. The
name mellitus originated from Latin and was later added to the term diabetes. (9) For thousands of
years, little information was known about diabetes. The remedies used at the time were largely
ineffective, and many individuals died from diabetes after short life spans. In 1776, Matthew Dobson
discovered that the urine of diabetes patients contained increased concentrations of glucose. In 1797,
John Rollo recognized a link between diet and treatment of diabetes. In 1812, the disease was
clinically recognized in the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery, and the first laboratory
tests were developed to measure the presence of sugar in urine. (9) During the following two hundred
years, the scientific community gained a greater understanding of diabetes and its pathology,
prevention, and treatment. In 1869, Paul Langerhans identified various types of pancreatic cells. In the
early 1900 s, a pancreatic substance was extracted and termed insulin. In the 1920 s,

The Impact of Advertising on Perceived Gender Roles
The role and function of advertising is a debatable one. Most would argue that since it is not intended
to be a governmental aid in ensuring and creating opportunities for equality, we are unable to expect
such efforts to be made within this industry. Advertisers have the job of selling, to persuade and
increase consumption as to satisfy the capitalist s pockets. The play on social injustice often associated
with this particular industry makes it relevant to question it though. Male dominance in this area is
evident, but are we not even to view men and women as equal in terms of being potential consumers?
As illustrated by Spurlock and this piece of research, it is extremely difficult to not involve
advertisement in vocabulary and certain approaches to societal understanding. The present branding
culture is apparent and it is close to impossible to not have an opinion regarding this matter, which
incidentally causes discussion and debate, which in turn furthers the word of mouth usage of brands.
The impact of advertising on perceived gender roles is quite evident, and with plenty of consequences,
some of which we might not yet have experienced the full effect of. It is important to remember that
with a socialized consumer identity, the choices we make are not individual ones, but is initiated by
the manipulative skills of others . The high extent of advertisement we are put through on a daily basis
makes it very difficult to reflect upon the idea of choices and individual

Sin, Consequences And Redemption In Le Morte DArthur
The Sin, Consequences, and Redemption of Sir Lancelot Sir Lancelot is the dominant figure in Le
Morte D Arthur who presents us with the theme of sin and redemption. Sir Agravaine and Sir Mordred
expose the courtly romance or otherwise adulterous affair between Sir Lancelot and Queen Guenever.
This sets in motion the conflicts and other events leading up to the death of Sir Lancelot and many
other noteworthy characters. Sir Lancelot betrays both King Arthur and Queen Guenever. If he is truly
a noble character as Sir Gawaine, Sir Gareth, and Sir Gaheris describe, would he have involved
himself in such a treacherous act? Sir Agravaine says, I marvel that we all be not ashamed both to see
and to know how Sir Launcelot lieth daily and nightly by the queen, and all we know it so; and it is
shamefully suffered of us all, that we all should suffer so noble a king as King Arthur is so to be
shamed (Location 12810). Sir Lancelot s betrayal raises opposition between the knights and breaks up
that which should remain united. His betrayal reaches beyond the king and queen. Thus, it is not a
surprise that the consequences of his sin affect the lives of so many. Now, Sir Agravaine and Sir
Mordred plot to find Sir Lancelot and Queen Guenever alone together, while the king is away. The
king warns Sir Agravaine and Sir Mordred, ...he will fight with him that bringeth up the noise, and I
know no knight that is able to match him (Location 12836). With King Arthur s consent, they gather a

Servant Evangelism Research Paper
The dirty work of evangelism in regards to my conversion is not really applicable since I was brought
up in church and saved at the age of seven. I am sure there were things that went along with the work
of evangelism in my life that I am unaware of. The discipline of servant evangelism is a critical need
that has been neglected for years. Some churches have started doing it but most still want to hold to
the historical ways of outreach that do not seem to work. Servant evangelism teaches that one must be
willing, just as Jesus was, to get their hands dirty in order to see the lost saved. According to Will
McRaney personal evangelism involves the effective communication of the essential gospel message
with the view of seeing people supernaturally become followers and imitators of Christ. How is one to

It is this testimony of faith in Christ that helps break down the barrier that stands in between the
believer and unbeliever so often. As we have heard in our lectures, the way Jesus did evangelism was
modeled in the way he lived. Jesus was intentional about his witness as should be the believer. He
looked for opportunities to show his love. The believer needs to adapt this into their daily life in order
to help clear up the wrong perspectives of the gospel. My emerging biblical theology of evangelism is
being enhanced in seeing different and more exciting ways to share the gospel. In order to change the
view of many concerning the gospel we must let people see that they do not need to wash their hands
after shaking the hand of a religious person. The believer does not need to become like the unbeliever
but does not need to be seen as a pious, egotistical,

Hester Prynne In The Scarlet Letter
Hester Prynne is a character who relies on her inner strength as she transforms from an impetuous,
shameful sinner to a stoic woman. She is a character in The Scarlet Letter written by Nathaniel
Hawthorne. Hester Prynne is a woman who was condemned by a Puritan town for being an adulterer.
This conclusion is evident because she became pregnant while her husband was lost at sea . Hester s
conviction is openly displayed by a scarlet letter on her chest. She is immediately isolated once
released, and she begins her transition into her new self. A key factor in the character development of
Hester Prynne is the shame she experienced. She sought love in someone other than her husband, who
was thought to be dead, and she was openly punished for her sins. After released she remained
encumbered in her punishment. She remained in town, and lived a plain life. Her guilt left her stuck in
a constant state of restriction. She used her immense skill of needlework for the poor, and an
occasional extravagance. However her personal shame was not transferred to her daughter, Pearl. The
difference in clothing shows that Hester considers herself shameful and not worthy of a decadent
lifestyle, but her daughter is deserving of a distinguished lifestyle.

Electromagnetic Radiation In The Military
The military has many uses for electromagnetic waves. They use it in the kitchen all the way to the
battlefields. They use radio waves for seeing the damage that space dust could make. They use
microwave radiation for cooking. They use Infrared waves for looking for enemies. They also use
visible light to send streams of data. Two more waves are X Rays and gamma rays. X Rays are used
for looking through other objects. Gamma rays are used for explosives.
Dust particles crash into the military s spacecrafts. They use radio waves to see how much damage is
done. When the spacecraft is sent into space they run into little particles that move fast. If they move
really fast the impact can appear to make radio waves and damage the craft s electronic system.

Canada s Political Community Analysis
Since the constitutional exhaustion in the 1990s, Canada has drifted far from constitutional politics. In
fact, it has become presumed that Canadians constitute a political community with one national
identity; however, when examined thoroughly Canadian unity remains fragile. Although Canada
appears to have a solid political community, two of the founding nations have their own national
identities, allegiance, and political culture which constitutes nations within (Russell, 2000, p. 70).
Therefore, it is important to trace the origins of Canada s political community and then define the
political community in order to create the ground for making distinctions between the three founding
nations in Canada. Then, Canada s fragile political community ... Show more content on

For indigenous people, acknowledging the impact of colonialism and the post confederation
government has had long lasting effects on the definition of national identity to the indigenous
population. The aggressive policies and legislations created by British in the pre confederation era and
the post confederation governments led to devastation in the indigenous communities in Canada and
survived traditions are the foundations of today s nations within (Manzano Munguia, 2011, p. 404).
The indigenous peoples of Canada have experienced the dark side of Canada s history as throughout
the years, governments sought to assimilate and civilize Canada s First Nations, Metis, and Inuit
(Manzano Munguia, 2011, p. 404). More importantly, social and cultural structures of indigenous
groups were destroyed by the British colonization. According to James Frideres, a Professor Emeritus
of Sociology at the University of Calgary, aboriginal social, religious, kinship, and economic
institutions were ignored, rejected and replaced by Euro Canadian institutions (2008, p. 318).
Therefore, indigenous peoples were politically controlled by the colonizers and have been
economically dependent until our day (James, 2008, p. 318). Thus, the link between the identity of
indigenous peoples in Canada and the nations within status can be made to the historical events that
led to the creation of

Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay
Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software
developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to
make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable
tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout
decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products
often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of environment,
more dynamic methods are required, which is why XP suits as a viable candidate. How design is

reveals all the intentions , on the other hand, makes sense under the following train of thought: if
something is simple, it is easy to understand, and therefore all or most intentions are clear to the
observer. does not have duplicated code seems to make things easy to understand, but may not
necessarily simplify a program. Finally, has the fewest number of classes or methods seems to be the
most pertinent to the concept of simplicity. If a system consists of less functional elements than
another one but holds the same product, it could be considered simpler. Following this definition, a
system that contains the least amount of functional elements than any other, but holds the same
product, could be considered simplest. Other than a few definitions of simplicity, Fowler mentions

You Aren t Going to Need it (Fowler). The idea is summed up by Fowler as a method to only program
what is currently needed for the project. This is supposed to allow easy changes to be made when
needed. An example: consider the scenario where a calculator is being programmed. Its design
incorporates addition and multiplication . Whilst implementing addition , it may seem logical to add
some of the multiplication features to reduce the amount of future work. Suddenly the client decides to

Characterization of Dmitry Dmitrich Gurov Essay
Chekhov is part of a non typical category of artists, because he did not believed in his genius, on the
contrary, there are evidence that he believed that his work will not conquer time and posterity.
Spectacular, just like Russia at the border between the 19th and 20th century, Chekhov was born the
son of serfs in 1860 (Tsar Alexander will abolish serfdom in 1861) only to become a landlord 32 years
later, and a neighbor of Prince Shakovskoi. He bought the Melikhovo estate (unconsciously imitating
Tolstoy, the patriarch of Iasnaia Polyana), not far from Moscow, with 13 thousand rubles of which he
has paid an advance of five thousand.

Summary
Lady with the Pet Dog is a short story written in 1899, a time when Chekhov spent most of the time in
his house in Yalta. He lived usually alone and often weakened by the effects of tuberculosis, tired of
the city s provincialism, but never losing his charm and humor. He felt difficult to write in Yalta; also,
he stopped working as a doctor some few years ago. Yalta became a kind of exile of his. It seems that
Olga Knipper, his sweet actress , and wonderful woman often complained to him in long letter that she
is depressed, and he tried to cheer her with the perspective of reunion (Benedetti, 112).
In the short story Lady with the Pet Dog, what initially seems to be a simple adultery, as so many
others, turns into a great love story. He, Dmitri Dmitrievich Gurov, a man passed his early youth, with
an unhappy marriage in which, for years, has saved himself by throwing his life into countless love
affairs, lives in Moscow. She, Anna Sergeyevna, very young,

  • 2. The Melting Point Analysis of Crude and Recrystallized... Abstract Acetic Anhydride and p Aminophenol were heated in a vial attached to an air condenser to synthesize crude acetaminophen, resulting in 0.097 grams (47.48% yield). The crude acetaminophen was then recrystallized in a solvent of water and methanol over heat resulting in 0.082 grams (39.61% yield) of pure acetaminophen. Melting points of both crude and pure acetaminophen were taken, and found to be 165.9 170.9°C and 168.2 171.5°C, respectively. The literature melting point of acetaminophen is 169.5 171.0°C, indicating that our final product was pure. Introduction The synthesis of acetaminophen involves the attraction of the electrophilic carbonyl group of acetic anhydride to the nucleophilic NH2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An automatic pipet was used to measure 0.450 mL water and 0.165 mL acetic anhydride and was added to the conical vial. A spin vane was placed into the vial and an air condenser was attached. Heating: The mixture was heated at 120°C using an aluminum block and was stirred gently. After all of the solid dissolved, it was heated for 20 additional minutes to ensure the reaction was complete. Isolation of Crude Acetaminophen: The vial was removed from the heat and cooled to room temperature. The spin vane was rinsed with 2 3 drops of warm water over the conical vial. The vial was cooled to room temperature then placed in an ice bath for 15 minutes. The liquid was decanted from the mixture and the resulting crystals were dried on filter paper. The crystals were then placed on a watch glass for further drying. The crystals were weighed and a small sample was placed into a capillary tube for melting point determination. Crystallization of Acetaminophen: The product was placed in a Craig tube and several drops of hot (100°C) solvent (50% water, 50% methanol, by volume) was added and heated until all of the crystals dissolved. The Craig tube was plugged and set in an Erlenmeyer flask to cool. Crystallization was induced once the mixture was at room temperature by scratching the inner wall of the tube. It was then placed into an ice bath for ten minutes until crystallization was complete. The tube was then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Youths Are Deemed As The Perpetrators Of Today s... When the words youth and young people come up there are different connotations that come along with it, some people may feel very positive towards the youth of today. However, some people feel the complete opposite and have negative views altogether. In some cases, people believe they have Ephebiphobia which is a fear of young people, with 1.5 million Britons considering to move houses last year and about 1.7 million people not going out after dark to avoid youngsters (Lewis, 2016). Researchers are fearing that the public are alienating the youth and A rise in social Paedophobia will simply make matters worse Nick Pierce the IPPR (Institute for Public Policy Research). In this essay I will be discussing how youths are deemed as the perpetrators in today s society and how this theory came about. Furthermore, discussing how young people are also vulnerable to being victims as well, but are also under protected. Adding to that I will discuss the UK s policing structure such as stop and search and taking young people into custody and whether it has been successful for the past years in England and Wales or not. So what defines youth or a young person? criminologists for years have attempted to find a definition for youth. However, criminologist John Muncie has summed it up well: An ill defined and variable period of the life span between infancy and adulthood. (Davies, Francis, and Greer, 2007). Although this is a definition people still don t quite understand what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Gay Fm History First broadcast at midnight on Sunday 2nd September 1990, Gay FM began life after the board of 4CCR accepted a 3 page submission for the programme, including 100 signatures in support, and an example of the gay news items to be used in the show. Arriving in Cairns from Sydney a few weeks before, with some experience presenting Sydney s Wild G.A.L.S. (Gay and Lesbian Show), Terry Barrie put together the submission and became host of the show. Allocated a challenging time slot, starting at midnight Sunday, the show filled two hours, though after 5 successful years, in 1995 the board agreed to a 3 hour show at the more accessible time of 9 PM. In that same year, 4CCR expanded its broadcasting capacity north to Port Douglas, south to Innisfail, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And with new presenters, Tropical Gay FM became a Sunday night institution Vincent Cooper, Dale, Trevor, Jon, Frank Pagram, Brendan and Ben Woodward all served as presenters and introduced special guests such as Vicky V, Jeanne Little, Bernard King, Beryl and Miss Kate. In April 2000, Ben Woodward became the main presenter and introduced the notorious Bad Taste format with Brendon Files playing Queen Bea, the pair played lots of tacky eighties and nineties music, read silly articles from Smash Hits magazine, and referred constantly to the iconic television shows of the time, with Melrose Place and Prisoner: Cell Block H receiving a lot of attention. With occasional music specials, and the banter bouncing back and forth between the two presenters, the new light hearted approach won many fans, and much of the show ended up taken up by callers, some of whom became regular characters in the fun format. Contributing immensely to bringing the community together, Tropical Gay FM, unfortunately ceased broadcast in 2004, but Cairns now enjoys Gay Radio again with Andrew Wheatland, formerly of Melbourne s Joy FM, and Sam, presenting Empty Closet Radio weekly on Coast ... • 5. Camp Happy Valley Case Study Analysis Introduction to Organizational Behaviour Team Case Analysis Project: Camp Happy Valley November 22, 2010 Part 1: Cameron s Bases of Power and Influence Strategy Power relates to influence because in order for a person to be in a position where they have power, others must be dependent on them for one thing or another. The greater the subjects depend on the person, the more power a person has. When one is then in a position of power, they can influence others who are dependent on them in order for the needs of the dependent subjects to be satisfied. Influence cannot be exerted over people who are not dependent on the person, thus leaving that person without power. Dependency is created when the resource a person controls is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are able to work with their friends, they have the flexibility to return home instead of stay overnight, and they can work with children (Camp Happy Valley, 3). These are all examples of extrinsic motivators because they are common, routine outcomes that are known and expected by the employee. They also relate to the motivation hygiene theory because these are all characteristics of a job (relationship with peers, relationship with subordinates, and work conditions) that are shown to be hygiene factors. Therefore, they can provide dissatisfaction or no dissatisfaction but not necessarily satisfaction. This is important to note when considering the number of staff that return after working at Happy Valley for a summer. Overall, despite the super staff s lack of organization in the hiring process (not being able to contact references, very broad scale for rating employees), it appears that the camp has had no problems in actually recruiting capable new staff to work for them each summer. It appears that the extrinsic motivators, or hygiene factors, are enough to recruit many talented young adults. Problems only appear among staff after the recruiting process, which is what hinders their motivation to return. Staff is motivated to return because the quality of their experience, the leadership skills they gain, the social atmosphere and because of the campers (3). Looking at motivation hygiene theory again, these tend to be intrinsic factors (with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Censorship They say that the less you know the better, which couldn t be more true. Why bother with information that will cause more stress and unnecessary worry in your life? This is where censorship comes into play. Do you really want to know about some of the events that happen on a daily basis? Events that could scar a person physically, emotionally, and psychologically? Events that would be deemed inappropriate for certain ages? Or what about actions that could be repeated again negatively? No one wants to live in a country like North Korea; however, some action is necessary. North Korea has censored much of their country, specifically, the internet. Different aspects of speech are removed, including hate speech. The case is similar to different countries as well. In order to come across an audience who have lost a sense of ethical conduct, Al Gore, the star of An Inconvenient Truth, produced by Davis Guggenheim, formulates a thorough presentation that exposes the foreboding threat of global warming, proclaiming that humanity s only hope in resolving this worldwide issue will result from selfless, human action. Such a direct and visual exposure ensures that the audience can grasp a vivid and wholesome comprehension of the foreboding disasters that can follow global warming, emphasized by Gore s claim that, I don t really consider this a political issue, I consider it to be a moral issue (Inconvenient). Gore s original claim, that moral and ethical reasons drive him towards raising awareness of global warming, aligns with his heavy reliance on ethos from visual representation to persuade the audience. However, Gore s ongoing references to his past history and recent success challenges the notion that he finds inspiration from moral and ethical reasons alone, but rather indicates Gore s underlying motivation to use pathos and gain validity from the audience in order to make up for his past failure as a politician. During many occasions throughout the documentary, Gore provides insight of his past experiences, showing real news broadcasts that outline his presidency and even referencing directly to the audience, such as jokingly claiming, I m Al Gore, I used to be the next president of the United States of America , and following up the audience s laughter by humorously adding, I don t find that particularly funny as the first impression he has on the viewers (Inconvenient). • 8. Suicide s Note By Langston Hughes Suicide s Note Not all poems fall into the category of epic poetry or ballads. Some pieces are short and concise rather than lengthy and elegant. A shorter poem may focus more thoroughly on diction, or the author s specific choice of words, rather than things such as rhyme scheme or meter. Langston Hughes poem Suicide s Note is a perfect example of this. Because it is only twelve words long, every single word is important and chosen carefully. This poem uses many literary techniques, none more than diction, to achieve its purpose. which is to focus on the split second decision that is suicide. To begin, Hughes uses his diction to create a distinct mood for his poem. For example, when one reads the poem without first reading the title, The calm, Cool face of the river Asked me for a kiss, they may create in their own head a calm, positive or happy mood. The words may remind one of summer days at the lake or the beautiful view of a river valley. The author does this on purpose as he wants the reader to be relaxed. With the title, Suicide s Note, attached, however, the mood automatically becomes more solemn. Hughes gives his readers this title because he wants them to understand that this poem has a meaning beyond what can be seen at first glance. Nothing in these lines really reveals a tone, or the author s attitude toward the subject, which makes the mood that much more more important. The author establishes that his, or anyone s, thoughts or feelings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Satan shows rebellion towards God, this is the first rebellion there ever was. According to Webster s dictionary rebellion is organized opposition to authority, a conflict in which one faction tries to take control from another. I think rebellion also includes disobedience. John Carrey says that in the epic Satan concedes his own criminality, and his own responsibility for his fall. He facilitates between remorse and defiance. He confesses that his rebellion was completely unjustifiable, that he had the same freewill and power to stand as all God s creatures, and that he therefore has nothing to accuse but heavens free love dealt equally to all (134). Basically Satan did this to himself. We do not really understand why Satan defied God and we probably would not understand. Satan goes from the most beautiful to the ugliest because of his defiance. John Carrey speaks of Milton s Satan saying Satan as archangel, before his fall, is never shown by Milton, but this stage of his existence is often alluded to, as is the fact that some of his archangelic power powers remain, though we cannot be quite sure which. With these words, Socrates stated the creed of reflective men and women and set the task for ethics: to seek, with the help of reason, a consistent and defensible approach to life and its moral dilemmas (Walters 22). Ethical inquiry is important to us when we are unsure of the direction in which we are heading. New philosophy calls all in doubt, wrote John Donne in the wake of the Copernican Revolution and of Charles I s violent death, suggesting that new thoughts had challenged old practices (Donne). If the above conceptions about the nature of ethics were correct, however, discussion of these issues would either be futile (because morality is a matter of personal choice or opinion) or superfluous (because morality is what a divine or secular authority says it is) (Walters 23). The Existence Of Diabetes Mellitus The existence of diabetes mellitus was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks when individuals showed signs of excessive urination, rapid weight loss, and sweet tasting urine. Diagnosis was, therefore, made by designated water tasters, who drank the urine of potential diabetes patients searching for a sweet taste. Because diabetes patients are drained of fluids, the Greek philosopher Apollonius coined the term diabetes for the disease, which means to siphon or to pass through. The name mellitus originated from Latin and was later added to the term diabetes. (9) For thousands of years, little information was known about diabetes. The remedies used at the time were largely ineffective, and many individuals died from diabetes after short life spans. In 1776, Matthew Dobson discovered that the urine of diabetes patients contained increased concentrations of glucose. In 1797, John Rollo recognized a link between diet and treatment of diabetes. In 1812, the disease was clinically recognized in the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery, and the first laboratory tests were developed to measure the presence of sugar in urine. Most would argue that since it is not intended to be a governmental aid in ensuring and creating opportunities for equality, we are unable to expect such efforts to be made within this industry. The play on social injustice often associated with this particular industry makes it relevant to question it though. Male dominance in this area is evident, but are we not even to view men and women as equal in terms of being potential consumers? As illustrated by Spurlock and this piece of research, it is extremely difficult to not involve advertisement in vocabulary and certain approaches to societal understanding. The present branding culture is apparent and it is close to impossible to not have an opinion regarding this matter, which incidentally causes discussion and debate, which in turn furthers the word of mouth usage of brands. The impact of advertising on perceived gender roles is quite evident, and with plenty of consequences, some of which we might not yet have experienced the full effect of. • 27. Sin, Consequences And Redemption In Le Morte DArthur The Sin, Consequences, and Redemption of Sir Lancelot Sir Lancelot is the dominant figure in Le Morte D Arthur who presents us with the theme of sin and redemption. Sir Agravaine and Sir Mordred expose the courtly romance or otherwise adulterous affair between Sir Lancelot and Queen Guenever. This sets in motion the conflicts and other events leading up to the death of Sir Lancelot and many other noteworthy characters. Sir Lancelot betrays both King Arthur and Queen Guenever. If he is truly a noble character as Sir Gawaine, Sir Gareth, and Sir Gaheris describe, would he have involved himself in such a treacherous act? Sir Agravaine says, I marvel that we all be not ashamed both to see and to know how Sir Launcelot lieth daily and nightly by the queen, and all we know it so; and it is shamefully suffered of us all, that we all should suffer so noble a king as King Arthur is so to be shamed (Location 12810). Sir Lancelot s betrayal raises opposition between the knights and breaks up that which should remain united. His betrayal reaches beyond the king and queen. Thus, it is not a surprise that the consequences of his sin affect the lives of so many. Now, Sir Agravaine and Sir Mordred plot to find Sir Lancelot and Queen Guenever alone together, while the king is away. The king warns Sir Agravaine and Sir Mordred, ...he will fight with him that bringeth up the noise, and I know no knight that is able to match him (Location 12836). With King Arthur s consent, they gather a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Servant Evangelism Research Paper The dirty work of evangelism in regards to my conversion is not really applicable since I was brought up in church and saved at the age of seven. I am sure there were things that went along with the work of evangelism in my life that I am unaware of. The discipline of servant evangelism is a critical need that has been neglected for years. Some churches have started doing it but most still want to hold to the historical ways of outreach that do not seem to work. Servant evangelism teaches that one must be willing, just as Jesus was, to get their hands dirty in order to see the lost saved. According to Will McRaney personal evangelism involves the effective communication of the essential gospel message with the view of seeing people supernaturally become followers and imitators of Christ. How is one to truly and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is this testimony of faith in Christ that helps break down the barrier that stands in between the believer and unbeliever so often. As we have heard in our lectures, the way Jesus did evangelism was modeled in the way he lived. Jesus was intentional about his witness as should be the believer. He looked for opportunities to show his love. The believer needs to adapt this into their daily life in order to help clear up the wrong perspectives of the gospel. My emerging biblical theology of evangelism is being enhanced in seeing different and more exciting ways to share the gospel. In order to change the view of many concerning the gospel we must let people see that they do not need to wash their hands after shaking the hand of a religious person. The believer does not need to become like the unbeliever but does not need to be seen as a pious, egotistical, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Hester Prynne In The Scarlet Letter Hester Prynne is a character who relies on her inner strength as she transforms from an impetuous, shameful sinner to a stoic woman. She is a character in The Scarlet Letter written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hester Prynne is a woman who was condemned by a Puritan town for being an adulterer. This conclusion is evident because she became pregnant while her husband was lost at sea . Hester s conviction is openly displayed by a scarlet letter on her chest. She is immediately isolated once released, and she begins her transition into her new self. A key factor in the character development of Hester Prynne is the shame she experienced. She sought love in someone other than her husband, who was thought to be dead, and she was openly punished for her sins. After released she remained encumbered in her punishment. She remained in town, and lived a plain life. Her guilt left her stuck in a constant state of restriction. She used her immense skill of needlework for the poor, and an occasional extravagance. However her personal shame was not transferred to her daughter, Pearl. The difference in clothing shows that Hester considers herself shameful and not worthy of a decadent lifestyle, but her daughter is deserving of a distinguished lifestyle. Hester sought not to acquire anything beyond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After seeing where her decisions landed her, she began to change and become a more stoic woman. • 30. Electromagnetic Radiation In The Military The military has many uses for electromagnetic waves. They use it in the kitchen all the way to the battlefields. They use radio waves for seeing the damage that space dust could make. They use microwave radiation for cooking. They use Infrared waves for looking for enemies. They also use visible light to send streams of data. Two more waves are X Rays and gamma rays. X Rays are used for looking through other objects. Gamma rays are used for explosives. Dust particles crash into the military s spacecrafts. They use radio waves to see how much damage is done. When the spacecraft is sent into space they run into little particles that move fast. • 31. Canada s Political Community Analysis Since the constitutional exhaustion in the 1990s, Canada has drifted far from constitutional politics. In fact, it has become presumed that Canadians constitute a political community with one national identity; however, when examined thoroughly Canadian unity remains fragile. Although Canada appears to have a solid political community, two of the founding nations have their own national identities, allegiance, and political culture which constitutes nations within (Russell, 2000, p. 70). Therefore, it is important to trace the origins of Canada s political community and then define the political community in order to create the ground for making distinctions between the three founding nations in Canada. Then, Canada s fragile political community ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For indigenous people, acknowledging the impact of colonialism and the post confederation government has had long lasting effects on the definition of national identity to the indigenous population. The aggressive policies and legislations created by British in the pre confederation era and the post confederation governments led to devastation in the indigenous communities in Canada and survived traditions are the foundations of today s nations within (Manzano Munguia, 2011, p. 404). The indigenous peoples of Canada have experienced the dark side of Canada s history as throughout the years, governments sought to assimilate and civilize Canada s First Nations, Metis, and Inuit (Manzano Munguia, 2011, p. 404). More importantly, social and cultural structures of indigenous groups were destroyed by the British colonization. According to James Frideres, a Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Calgary, aboriginal social, religious, kinship, and economic institutions were ignored, rejected and replaced by Euro Canadian institutions (2008, p. 318). Therefore, indigenous peoples were politically controlled by the colonizers and have been economically dependent until our day (James, 2008, p. 318). Thus, the link between the identity of indigenous peoples in Canada and the nations within status can be made to the historical events that led to the creation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of environment, more dynamic methods are required, which is why XP suits as a viable candidate. How design is altered from the traditional up front design method will be ... Finally, has the fewest number of classes or methods seems to be the most pertinent to the concept of simplicity. If a system consists of less functional elements than another one but holds the same product, it could be considered simpler. Following this definition, a system that contains the least amount of functional elements than any other, but holds the same product, could be considered simplest. The idea is summed up by Fowler as a method to only program what is currently needed for the project. This is supposed to allow easy changes to be made when needed. An example: consider the scenario where a calculator is being programmed. Its design incorporates addition and multiplication . Whilst implementing addition , it may seem logical to add some of the multiplication features to reduce the amount of future work. • 34. Characterization of Dmitry Dmitrich Gurov Essay Chekhov is part of a non typical category of artists, because he did not believed in his genius, on the contrary, there are evidence that he believed that his work will not conquer time and posterity. Spectacular, just like Russia at the border between the 19th and 20th century, Chekhov was born the son of serfs in 1860 (Tsar Alexander will abolish serfdom in 1861) only to become a landlord 32 years later, and a neighbor of Prince Shakovskoi. He bought the Melikhovo estate (unconsciously imitating Tolstoy, the patriarch of Iasnaia Polyana), not far from Moscow, with 13 thousand rubles of which he has paid an advance of five thousand. The whole country is devastated by the tragic chaos of the revolution and their love disappears in the distance. Summary Lady with the Pet Dog is a short story written in 1899, a time when Chekhov spent most of the time in his house in Yalta. He lived usually alone and often weakened by the effects of tuberculosis, tired of the city s provincialism, but never losing his charm and humor. He felt difficult to write in Yalta; also, he stopped working as a doctor some few years ago. Yalta became a kind of exile of his. It seems that Olga Knipper, his sweet actress , and wonderful woman often complained to him in long letter that she is depressed, and he tried to cheer her with the perspective of reunion (Benedetti, 112). In the short story Lady with the Pet Dog, what initially seems to be a simple adultery, as so many others, turns into a great love story.
