2. The Cantigas De Santa Maria Essay
The Cantigas de Santa Maria is one of the largest collections of monophonic songs from the
Middle Ages and is branded by the mention of the Virgin Mary in all 427 songs. The Cantigas are
written in Galician Portuguese, a poetic language in Castile at the time. The musical forms within
the Cantigas, are still being studied. There is a plethora of variations, but no musical forms have
been considered standard. In my analysis, I noticed a relationship between the refrain and the end
of the stanzas which tend to repeat the same melodic material. The refrain begins the poem and is
repeated after each stanza; in addition, the final portion of the stanza is displayed on the refrain,
beckoning its imminent return. Each Cantiga has very in depth syllabic patterns that work in
attendem with the repeated refreain After reviewing the translations of my Cantigas it seems the
verse of the repeated refrain ties in the moral of the poem and offers praise to Holy Mary. An
example is the refrain in Cantiga 36, a ship at sea. We should all love with all our will the lady who
frees us from troubles and storms.
The refrain in my opinion eludes to the idea of storm being a metaphor for the trouble you face in
everyday life, and you must praise in the storm so that the Virgin Mary can eviscerate the darkness
in your life. Another stand out feature of the Cantigas are the illuminations that accompany them in
the codices. These beautiful illustrations map out the story of the Cantiga, and

3. How Change Is Necessary For The Sake Of The Business
Rough Draft Submission
There comes a time in many organizations when change is necessary for the sake of the business.
Knowing the importance and implications of organizational change and admitting the fact that the
change is required for its success as well as understanding that sometimes that change involves the
replacement of a leader can play a key role in implementing these changes. When a business is not
meeting the required expectations it is important to do the research to find out exactly where the
inaccuracies are coming from and move forward from their with the transformation. To meet the

Malaysia. Through the years the company has been owned by several different state and federal

acquired Pemancar, the company has made an agreement with a Japanese company that would

Pemancar is the largest plant in the northern part of Peninsular, Malaysia and has received
recognition for both the national and international levels including several quality and
management awards while under KLCorp. The plant operates twenty four hours a day, seven
days a week with an average of 345 days a year. Even though it was a small business under
KLCorp, it was still considered as one of the best model plants with high profits. Between the

4. Theme Of Identity In Beowulf
During the 5th century, resumes were not something that existed. Instead, people were taught to go
around and make themselves appear as the crown and glory of all men. In Beowulf most men,
comparing themselves to God, become rather conceited in their ways and the establishment of true
identity is lost in many. The characters in this story, ranging from Beowulfhimself, to monsters, to
Kingsman, have to deal with certain situations where they defend themselves and show their true
colors to their surrounding peers. The epic of Beowulf emphasizes the importance of one s identity
through their familys blood line and finding one s place in a society.
In Act 1, the Danes are put into a trail of trying to defeat a terrifying demon named Grendel, who is
terrorizing the kingdom. After finding out about this demon and the monstrous crimes he has
committed, Beowulf sets out for Denmark with his group of men, to find and defeat him. Once
arriving to the kingdom, the Danish King, Hrothgar, welcomes Beowulf with loving arms as if he
was welcoming his own son back home. Hrothgar knew of Beowulf partly because of his past of
victories, but also through his uncle. Hrothgar had had many memories with Beowulf s extended
family and in Hrothgar s eyes, this made Beowulf extremely worthy of love and admiration. Family
ties and connections were highly valued in these time periods. When Beowulf comes into the great
hall Hrothgar answered, I remember him when he was young. His father was

5. Summary Of The Flies
The Flies
Part One:
Sartre, Jean Paul.
Part Two: The audience first meets Orestes while he is in town seeking direction to Aegisthus s
house. Orestes attempts to get this information by knocking on a door in town but unfortunately
the tenant of the house disregards him and closes the door on Orestes. Orestes continues through
town when he expresses to his tutor that he believes that Zeus is following them. When Zeus
finally approaches the two men the tutor asks Pray, whom have I am the honor of addressing?
(Sartre, 51). Zeus replies Demetrious is my name, and I hail from Athens. (Sartre, 51). This is the
first time that the audience gets any idea of where the name of the play may have come from. It is
also the first time that Orestes and his tutor learn why there are suddenly so many flies in town.
As the three men are walking through Argos they hear cries coming from the palace. Zeus explains
to them that these cries are a sort of memoir. They people are remembering the death of their king
Agamemnon, who was murdered fifteen years ago. Orestes then recalls that Agamemnon had a
daughter name Electra, so he asks Zeus what her take on this whole ordeal is. Zeus then explains
that Agamemnon also had a son named Orestes. The audience of the play quickly realizes that
Orestes is undercover in his journey to reach Aegisthus.
Orestes is able to enter the palace and finds out the reality of what is happening inside. Here he
comes into contact with Electra. Electra is known

6. 2.04 Journalism Career
2.04 First Draft by Chase Appleby
Nearly everybody has thought about writing as a career or a hobby, and it s simple when you
really put the time into it because these skills, like creativity are easy improving skills. Most
successful journalists have great creativity and writing skills, especially in the current age when
journalists are actually writing award winning novels, like John Sandford, my father s favorite
author and more famously Mark Twain.
Taylor Sampson interviewed Jay Welsh, current Florida Virtual School instructor in Journalism
and seasoned broadcast journalist to talk to him about the career of journalism. When asked
what would all aspiring journalists study and do before entering the profession he states
Number one is a great writing education. Very little is done without a script, and you are
responsible for writing that script. He also says to follow your passion There is all types of

7. What Is The Effect Of The Cuban Missile Crisis
What happens when two powerful countries clash with each other? Usually in history one country
rises, while the other country falls. However, in this event in history it s different. Two completely
different people with different views on government can come to a common ground agreement. Not
everything leads to war.
The U.S. and the Soviet Union leaders engaged into a political and military stand off for thirteen
days. There was a fear that this would lead to a nuclear war. President Kennedy announces that
U.S. spy planes, U 2, discovered Soviet missiles bases in Cuba (History.com) Cuba is 90 miles
away from the United States. These missiles were medium range missiles that were capable of
striking important cities, including Washington, D.C. During the next few days, the crisis escalated
to a breaking point of nuclear war with two dominating powerful countries.

8. Diversity Of Gifted Students
seen a widening of white black and white Hispanic achievement gaps (Reardon, et al, 2013). A
broad, sweeping federal definition would, I feel, achieve similar outcomes.
Some gifted students, in particular students of minorities and subgroup populations, may not be
easily identified for reasons that can be attributed to cultural or socio economic differences, to
differences in opportunity to learn, to disabling conditions that may mask giftedness, or to biases in
the identification process (p. 329). The differences among these subgroups of students can affect
student engagement, achievement, and the ultimate probability of them achieving their full
potential (p.330). For example, a gifted African American student from a low socio economic...

Teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community members in a district are by far the
most aware of the diversity present in those areas and how best to serve their gifted student
populations, specifically in relation to ethnic, racial, and socio economic concerns. A local
definition of giftedness allows for policy making to occur on home turf, where best practices
catering to specific groups of gifted students can be utilized and the scope of the definition is able
to be more succinct in targeting certain student needs. As the National Association for Gifted
Children (NAGC) states, the goal of a definition of giftedness is to provide the framework for
gifted education programs and services, and guide key decisions such as which students will
qualify for services, the areas of giftedness to be address with programming, when the services
will be offered, and even why they will be offered (NAGC Def). Districts have the advantage of
knowing their students, populations, and communities. There are, however, some downsides in
allowing localities to write their own definition of giftedness and the ramifications of what
follows. First, the school district must have qualified administrators and educators creating the
policies. According to a study done by the NAGC for the 2012 2013 school year, 43 percent of
states responding to a survey do not require professionals working in gifted and talented programs
to have certification or endorsement in gifted and talented education. Fairly bleak numbers,
although a federal mandate requiring gifted programs in every school district will most likely
change this fact. Next, locally defined characteristics of giftedness

9. Siege Of Jerusalem Research Paper
The Siege of Jerusalem Fall of Judea
Jewish history and cultural memory revolves around a few pivotal moments. One of the most
important is the 587 BCE Siege of Jerusalem, a moment that changed Jewish history forever.
The Kingdom of Judah
In 1948, the nation of Israel was created as a homeland for the Jews, a population without a place to
call their own. Right off the bat, this raises some questions. Why didn t the Jews have a home?
And why would they want Israel? The answer to these questions takes us back literally thousands
of years to an ancient kingdom named Judah. Judah, located in roughly what is now Israel, was
home to a certain Semitic speaking ethnic group. Any guesses which one? Judah...Jews...see how
that works? The Jewish people s claim to Israel is based in this ancient heritage. To really

This exile also resulted in the loss of the Jewish holy relics; after the Siege of Jerusalem, the Ark of

The Hebrew people would not be allowed back into Jerusalem until the end of the century when
the Persian Achaemenid Empire conquered the region and permitted them to leave Babylon. From
that point, the Hebrews of Jerusalem existed as subjects of various empires, from the Persians to
the Greeks to the Romans. Throughout this time, they maintained the dream of becoming an
independent kingdom again, inspired by their memory of the Kingdom of Judah. The Temple of
Solomon was rebuilt, but the Jews were again banished from Jerusalem after the Romans laid
siege to the city in 70 CE. The Jews would be without a homeland for nearly 2,000 years, united in
the dream and promise of a renewed Jewish state.

11. Atmospheric Temperature Causes Higher Saturation Vapor...
In Figure 4, Mr. Yi explained that the increases in atmospheric temperature causes higher saturation
vapor pressure, the greater the capacity for water to evaporate from soils and water bodies and
transpire from plants. With the increase of saturation vapor pressure atmospheric warming directly
increases plants evapotranspiration demands, which would to more water emitted by vegetated
surfaces to the atmosphere unless soil moisture gets too depleted. Weather systems accompanied
with extreme precipitationevents can become more violent as more latent heat is released. These
events would tax the system making it longer between the recharging of the atmosphere with
moisture as its holding capacity for water increases. The results are longer duration between
precipitation and extended drought (Yi, Pendall, Ciais, Focus on extreme events and the carbon

the United States Military from serving in positions that require them to engage in direct combat.
Women in the Air Force and Navy are barred from aircraft and vessels that have a chance to be

women from combat (Snyder, pg. 75 76). These policies prohibit women, on the basis of gender

17. Supernatural Intervention In H. P. Lovecraft s Dagon
Divinely Inspired or Divinely Insane: Supernatural Intervention in Literature Throughout various
genres of literature, divine or mystical intervention has played a pivotal role in revealing truths to
man. In many cases, these truths prove to be too complex for the human mind to comprehend,
resulting in characters to slowly become insane. The characters of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and
Hamlet from their respective Shakespeare plays as well as the unnamed narrator in H.P. Lovecraft
s short story Dagon express this belief as they each struggle to maintain sanity after their
experiences with powerful, unknown forces. Supernatural beings play significant roles in several of
Shakespeare s plays, but take on detrimental roles in many of his tragedies. They can be seen most
prominently in what can coincidentally be considered his two most famous tragedies, Macbeth and
Hamlet. While paranormal beings appear in forms of the Weird Sisters in Macbeth and the ghost of
King Hamlet in Hamlet, John Gibson argues that they contribute to their plots differently. In his
essay, Shakespeare s Use of the Supernatural, he argues that Hamlet s supernatural elements confirm
a truth from the past, whereas in Macbeth to the future. Dr. John Charles... Show more content on

Franz Kafka was born to a middle class Jewish family that was plagued with tragedy because of
the Nazi s reign of terror during World War II. Living during this extremely parasitic period in
history, the theme would become the basis throughout the stories of Kafka. A parasite is defined
by The Merriam Webster Dictionary as something that resembles a biological parasite in
dependence on something else for existence or support without making a useful or adequate return.
When reading the definition of parasite, one who has read any one of Kafka s stories could most
likely attribute parasitism as a central theme in the stories.
Kafka had a very difficult relationship with his parents, more so his father than his mother. His
father had an authoritative personality that often controlled the Kafka home. His father had an
impact on the characters traits in his [Kafka s] writing. That being said, his characters usually
had overbearing power. These individuals, or sometimes parasites, could break the will of men
and destroy their sense of self worth. His mother was a stay at home mother who did not have the
intellectual experience to understand her son s dreams of becoming a writer. She was a parasite
to Kafka himself. His family was the major theme generator in his writings. He used his family and
events in his early life to establish a rather unknown theme of parasites in his writings. Franz Kafka

What would society be like if we saw the world through a dog s eyes? A black and white world,

ability of a high order, dodging, feinting and scuttling about among the furniture. He could force
three or four people armed with brooms, sticks, and handfuls of coal, to use all their ingenuity to
get in a blow. And even when they did, it was seldom that they could do him a serious injury or

20. Differences Between England And The Colonies
1. Social and Political Climate in England and the Colonies in the 1760s
The decade that began in 1760 saw England and the Colonies exiting the Seven Year s War and
welcoming in a new king. The British Empire was reaching the height of its power with its victory
over France and her Allies. This victory led to enhanced feelings of pride and loyalty to the empire.
(Middlekauff, 2005).
This was not to last however, as the English and American societies were beginning to drift apart.
A lot of this was brought about by the differences inherent in the two societies as the American
colonists had a different class and political structure. More Americans, at least white males, owned
property, there was greater religious diversity, and the population was more ethnically diverse. (
Overview of the colonial era, n.d.). This ethnic diversity was in large part due to immigration from
various parts of Europe such as Germany, as well as other parts of the British Empire such as
Scotland and Ireland. These immigrants brought with them different political, social and religious
traditions that impacted the overall structure of the colonies. Many of these immigrants ... Show

under the English Common Law and the English Constitution. (Lustig, 2003). This understanding
of rights and legal responsibilities differed from those of England as the British Parliament had
neglected the administration of the colonies during the early 1700s. During this period the Colonies
and England both benefited economically from the lack of regulation and enforcement. Because of
this neglect, the colonies became more autonomous and less dependent on the British Parliament

21. Forecasting Best Practices
Forecasting Best Practices
Effective demand planning and sales forecasting across the supply chain can bring a host of
benefits. Specifically, it can help improve labor productivity, reduce head count, cut inventories, and
speed up production flows, and increase revenues and profits. Edward J. Marien
To find the best practices for forecasting, our team researched many cases of forecasting success,
and found five companies with a common theme. Rayovac, the Coca Cola Bottling Company, AAi.

forecasting, some of them very similar. To address and solve these problems each of these

Sara Lee
Sara Lee has also seen improvements thanks to an updated forecasting system. Professional
demand planners and updated software tools has allowed them to progress. Previously,
marketing had control of sales and financial forecasts and little attention was paid to them.
Therefore, high amounts of safety stock and high amounts of stockouts ensued. By developing a
demand planning group Sara Lee was able to get the appropriate people resources needed for
good forecasting. They also were careful not to involve new technology that would disrupt the
process already in place. With the new technology and demand planners in place, the company
was able to get inputs from product managers and field sales people. With their incoming data
automatically integrated into the demand planning software, they can forecast from the SKU
level up to the family level. Field sales people are now being asked to forecast for the next four
months for the largest customer because they have immediate access to the people and therefore,
the best view of the marketplace. Forecast accuracy is up approximately 51%, and perfect order fill
rates are in around 93%. Continuous improvements are now much easier to attain as they now have
good metrics and can see current trends. Scotts

1 SMALL CELL BACKHAUL: Small cell backhaul connects small cells with mobile network
operator. As mobile network operators begin to deploy growing numbers of small cells in order
to meet the rapidly increasing demand for mobile data capacity, and to utilize the maximum
spectrum we use backhaul. The major challenge facing them is how to provide efficient and cost
effective backhaul solution. 2 BACKHAUL REQUIREMENT: For designing this backhaul one
should consider the type of environment, transmission technique, topology and motivation for
deployment of small cell. There are different topology like star, tree, ring and mesh topology
which is implemented among the small cell to the backhaul. Transmission technologies followed
in backhaul solutions are Point to Point microwave, Point to Multipoint microwave, Leased
lines, xDSL (e.g. VDSL2), Point to Point Fiber ,PLC(Power Line Communication) and WiMAX.
3 TYPES OF BACKHAUL: 3.1WIRED BACKHAUL: Wired backhaul solutions have played a
key role in mobile base station backhaul over the years due to their high performance, better
reliability, scalability, high data rates and high availability. Wired backhaul solutions helps small
cell by working with new site types, likes streetlamps, rooftop and wall mounts. It should be able
to meet lower cost than those associated with macro cell backhaul. The overall backhaul solution
may be the combination of both wired and wireless, with the wired solution linking to wireless hub

Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity
Summary
Enwistle s book, Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity: An introduction to
worldview issues, philosophical foundations, and models of integration (2010) is a text that
explores integrating psychology and Christianity. We start out by learning about integration related
to both psychology and Christianity. Is this a thing? Is integration between these two subjects a
subject itself? Enwistle explores through time to reveal how psychology and Christianity have been
both closely studied and intertwined throughout time. Enwistle (2010) defines Christian psychology
as a commitment to a Christian worldview that shapes how psychology is studied and applies, and
that recognizes that there are specific Christian resources that uniquely reveal crucial aspects of
what it means to be human (p. 14). Those in the psychology or counseling field who are also
Christian have unique and different approaches but they draw from both Christianity and
psychology to help them succeed.

Degenerative disorder is a condition that leads to progressive loss of function. Osteoarthritis is the

According to Block and Scanzello (2016) says in next 2030, there will be 67 million people
affected with osteoarthritis, as the global population age in united states. This topic has been
chosen for discussion because population ages are increasing and osteoarthritis negatively impact
onto their daily activities and social life. So, this discussion will be focusing on the anatomy and the
pathophysiology and treatment of osteoarthritis and also how it will impact onto their daily life.
This discussion will further highlight on how to assist patient with the degenerative disorder; to
achieve the maximum level of independency with education and preventive measure, as it is
essential with the pharmacological, non pharmacological and surgical treatment.
Definition of degenerative disease
Osteoarthritis is a progressive disease of the joint, representing failed repair of the joint damage that
resulted from intra articular stresses. Intra articular stresses maybe initiated by abnormalities in
articular cartilage, sub chondral bone, ligaments, menisci, peri articular muscles, peripheral nervous

For Colored Girls, directed by Tyler Perry is, in my opinion, a great drama that was released in

that women, particularly those of color, go through on a daily basis. There are multiple problems
facing these women and although they all live in a different world and face all different problems,
somehow they all are intertwined with one another.
Janet Jackson plays Joanna. Being a successful business woman is not always a good thing because
she appears to be a snob and someone who only cares for herself. On top of many people not

Crystal with the death of her children, physical, mental abuse, and dealing with the fact that her

It was because the appearance of Kenneth O Donnell is much more appealing to the average
American. He is the perfect protagonist, just an average middle class American trying to do the
right thing. That is why he was given this role and it is understandable why this trade off would
be made for entertainment purposes as Thirteen Days is a movie and not a documentary.
Another less criticized aspect of the movie veering from 100% historical accuracy is that
nothing is said about President Kennedy s interests in ridding Fidel Castro of Cuba but in
reality he had been made aware of secret missions into Cuba prior to the Bay of Pigs. As well as
approving the Bay of Pigs invasion. During the Bay of Pigs the US tried to pass the invasion off

The author of this paper prefaces their findings with a lengthy list of similar arguments and
studies related to the question they re setting out to solve. Generally, these studies all provide
evidence that face and object recognition are carried out by different processes in the brain in
different specialized areas. The author of this paper wanted to dive into this question more
specifically, aiming to find the precise area that this face recognition is processed in. Is there a
specific area of the brain that is responsible for recognizing faces? More specifically, is the fusiform

The second experiment produced results that showed this activation (found in the fusiform gyrus),
was higher for normalized faces than scrambled faces or for houses. In the third experiment, the
author found that this area responded higher for passive faces at different angles when the hair of
the subject was concealed than for human hands. This study also showed that the fusiform face area
responded just as highly to faces with hair present or concealed. Ultimately, the fusiform face area
responds selectively to faces in a variety of cases: gray scale, front facing, two toned, three quarter
view, and with hair concealed. The activation region was found in the fusiform gyrus and
immediate surrounding areas, mainly lateralized in the right hemisphere.
4.How does the evidence support the author s arguments?
The results of the first task (analyzing areas of the ventral pathway that responded significantly
higher to faces), showed that there was one specific region that showed consistently higher
activation for faces than for objects throughout every subject: the right fusiform gyrus. These results
also showed opposite activation patterns for object viewing, providing a double dissociation for
face and object recognition. This provides evidence that higher activation during facial recognition
is not simply due to faces requiring a higher processing power than objects, but instead

Biochemical Mechanisms of ACE Inhibitors
The renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) is a group of hormones that are produced
sequentially in order to regulate salt water homeostasis as well as blood pressure.5 The first
enzyme, renin, is produced by the juxtaglomerular cells of the kidney when blood volume is low
and is released into the bloodstream.3,5,6 Renin then catalyzes the conversion of angiotensinogen to
angiotensin I.3,5,6 Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), which is produced in the lungs,
subsequently converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a more active enzyme.3,5,6 Angiotensin II
has several functions. The hormone s primary mechanism for increasing blood pressure is through
the stimulation of blood vessel constriction. Furthermore, angiotensin II increases the contractility
of the heart via sympathetic activation. It also stimulates anti diuretic hormone (ADH) release,
which increases water reabsorption at the collecting ducts, resulting

giving up something of moral consequence. This means that it is not morally permissible to rob a
bank to assist those in need just because you have the means to rob a bank. It simply means when

There s no way to know or change this without putting money in the pot in the first place. But

The principle ultimately states that you should wait forever to save people which doesn t help

44. Stereotypes In Skyscraper
Have you thought about songs that represent you? Songs can explain everything you are going
through, you just have to listen or read the lyrics. The song Skyscraper by Demi Lovato
represents me because of how no one can tear me down, I have been hurt for so long I have
learned how to ignore the pain most days. Next, the lyrics from Adam s Songby Blink 182 relates to
me because I have hit rock bottom and decided that I thought suicide was the answer but I
changed my mind soon after those thoughts. Then the lyrics from Hall of Fame by The Script
showed me that I can do whatever my heart desires and that I should not listen to the people
trying to drag me down. That is to say, If Everyone Cared by Nickelback is what I wish everyone

You may not realize what was said was hurtful to that individual, but to that individual that can
be the words they wake up to in the morning or when they look at themselves in the mirror. My
freshman year of high school I got called a whale, and that 110% still sticks with me. Every time
I look into a mirror I replay that moment, and see that guy who said those things and I could tell
it did not bother him one bit. As the lyrics from the song You Want A Battle? ( Heres a War)
state, your words cut deep.../ I will not take this anymore/ These words will not be ignored/ you
want a battle/ here s a war (Bullet For My Valentine 2015). When a bully bullies an individual you
have to learn to stand up for yourself, tell someone, let people know you are being bullied so that
you do not have to continue feeling worthless because of a single ignorant comment. Sometimes it
is best to ignore that person, because they will realize that their words do not affect you, they
possibly might leave you

Change and Culture Case Study II
Six months after the merger of Mercy Medical Hospitals and the Promedica Health Systems, the
new administration initiated a significant reduction in workforce. The decision was made to

The term universal worker is used when a person is cross trained in many departments, and
therefore has a little more assignment flexibility. They are often used in call centers and hospitals
to alleviate staff shortages and provide better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Changing an organization through an organization redesign process is a journey and generally a
rather long journey. That is why the following three principles must be understood by anyone who
is about to undertake any type of organization redesign:
The entire system has an effect on each element within the system
Every element in the system has an effect on the entire system and on each other
No matter what you do, the two points above always hold true.
When an organization goes through redesign,
1. People need to be identified as being responsible for driving the organization through the process.
Those individuals include:
Organization Leader: Who is generally the most senior person in the organization. This person will
set the direction that the process will go in and names the Steering Committee
Steering Team: Consists of key leaders from the organization and other stakeholders. This teams
responsibilities include naming and commissioning the Design Team, establishing boundaries and
guidelines for the Design Team, approving Design Team recommendation and ensuring the Design
Team have the resources (time and money included) they require to get the job done
Design Team: Generally consists of employees, half are lower level employees and the other half
are upper management. Are responsible for reporting back to their functional teams on design
choices being recommended and getting the input of the
