Zimpfer. Mr. Zimpfer would not have any problem providing the evidence needed to satisfy
requirements 1, 3, and 4. Requirement 2 on the other hand might be a little tricky to prove.
ADEA Requirements for Conclusive Evidence and Relevant Court Cases Though Mr. Zimpfer s
attorney was able to get a report from an I/O psychologist, Dr. Josephs, which verifies his ability
to perform the duties described in the ad for the managerial position, the county could also get
its own expert to rebut this psychologist s findings in the report. If Dr. Josephs is able to
convince this jury then there is sufficient evidence to conclusively prove that Mr. Zimpfer was a
victim of discrimination, since her report shows that he is clearly more qualified for the position
than Mr. Merriman is. Critical Evaluation of the I/O Psychologist Report Though Dr. Josephs
report looks comprehensive, it could be considered to be lacking all the information needed to
conclude who the best candidate for the position is. To come up with scores, Dr. Josephs did not
take into consideration the conversations the interviewer had with each candidate. Though Mr.
Zimpher s resume may have showed that he possessed all the skill she gave him credit for, those
written words don t necessarily translate to actions. It could be that he was not able to convince the
interview panel that he actually possessed those skills. Mr.

Contextual Interpretation Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Contextual Interpretations Of Religion
In Shakespeare s Hamlet At the time of Shakespeare s writing The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of
Denmark (hereby referred to as Hamlet), the two most commonly practiced denominations of
Christianity in Europe were Catholicism and Protestantism. Within the play itself, Shakespeare
references the traditions and ideas of both religions freely, creating cause for debate among modern
scholars as to what part, if any, religious context plays in Hamlet. The influence of both religions is
evident; however, as Shakespeare mixes the two, difficulties arise in finding a clear interpretation
of the opposing religious contexts. The idea of Catholicism as the foremost religion in Shakespeare
s Hamlet arises as a direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time period, Denmark was considered a Protestant (and more specifically, Lutheran)
nation. It has never been made clear whether or not Shakespeare intended to mirror the true to life
Denmark in his work, but the references can be easily inferred. One of the most important pieces of
evidence related to Protestantism in Hamlet is in reference to the University of Wittenberg, which
Hamlet, Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern attend during the course of the work. Wittenberg,
the city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and
was made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95
Theses to the door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to
Protestantism; Martin Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was
during his tenure as Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. In
addition, the University of Wittenberg served as a center of the Protestant Reformation movement
in Europe. Therefore, it can be inferred that during their time at the university, Hamlet and his
acquaintances would likely have been very heavily exposed to and quite possibly even expected to
serve the Protestant

Examples Of Archetypes In Finding Nemo
Do you like animated films? Well, Finding Nemo is the ninth most grossed animated film of all
time. Finding Nemo accomplishes this by being a light hearted, adventure, comedy. Finding Nemo
was an adventure and comedy film, that taught the world the importance of teamwork,
collaboration, and cooperation in everyday life. Archetypes are used in many films, movies, and/or
books to help both enhance and advance the audience s understanding of the story, whether it be
through character, symbolic, or situational archetypes. Finding Nemo uses character archetypes to
help advance the understanding of the movie by providing the audience with a better and deeper
understanding of the characters. Finding Nemo has three main and crucial characters they are

Comparison Of Dwight D. Eisenhower And The Army Leadership...
When President Eisenhower spoke these words to the graduating cadets, whose place he had
stood in exactly forty years prior, he drew on decades of experience as an officer in the United
States Army but only two years of experience as the President of the United States. President
Eisenhower had already accomplished a massive goal at the time he made this address, which
was to end the Korean War just months after his inauguration, and the majority of his time in
office was still ahead of him. Little did President Eisenhower know, these words would ring loud
and true for his own time in office. In the years to come, President Eisenhower would draw on
the traits outlined in the Army Leadership Requirements Model, which would make him a great
Army leader and, subsequently, a great president. These traits would serve as the baseline for
Eisenhower to develop Fred Greenstein s presidential leadership traits and excel in the presidency.
It was the experience as a successful military leader that prepared Eisenhower for his presidency
and enabled him to succeed while in office.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eisenhower was one of the greatest military leaders of his time. However, few remember that
there was nothing in the early years of his career that necessarily suggested he was destined for
greatness. Upon his graduation from West Point in 1915, Eisenhower received countless denials
to his requests to serve in combat during World War I. Instead, he was placed in several logistical
and training positions in his early career. More than once, Eisenhower was placed in a position
that many considered to be career ending, and every time he was able to take a valuable lesson
from it that would later be applied to his military and political

Older Workers At The Workplace
Older Workers in the Workplace (3rd draft)
Does aging reduce the work effectiveness of older workers? In this fast growing economy, many
people believe that older workers should stop working at a certain age because younger workers
will keep up with rapid economic development better. Lois Lowry describes this discrimination in
The Giver when citizens get older, they give up their jobs and are treated as children instead of
knowledgeable individuals to maintain the sameness in the community. Similarly, because of the
ageism, modern society falsely limits the opportunities of the group of older workers. The
misunderstood perception in the present can be against themselves in the future because most of
people, who are lucky to live long, will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, they have the capacities to make good decision quickly and less mistakes. Refer to the
book of Lois Lowry, the Giver, the elderly in the community, is always asked for advice since he
has the memories that is consider as wisdom (130). Similarly, that critical thinking and wisdom
have gained through the years in jobs lets older workers delivery top quality as well as help
companies avoid the repetition of mistakes. In tough marketplaces, it is important to realize that
older workers are the sources of companies profits because after working for a long time, they have
built good relationships as powerful strings to connect loyal and potential customers with
companies. Under those circumstances, older workers productivities are much more or at least on
par with younger workers.
Besides productivity, some employers are concerned about older worker s loyalty because
younger workers are supposed to have a longer path with companies in the future. Of course
their concern is reasonable because workers loyalty decides the turn over rate that is involved in
hiring and training costs, but Sloan Center on Aging and Work reports that older workers get
high marks for loyalty (Dan). Most of younger workers are on the stage of applying their skills and
knowledge in order to earn experience and figure out the careers of their lives. The desire of
discovering real world but lack of maturity usually make younger workers become job hoppers. For

Due Process and Crime Control
The Warren Court left an unprecedented legacy of judicial activism in the area of civil rights law
as well as in the area of civil liberties specifically, the rights of the accused as addressed in
Amendments 4 through 8. In the period from 1961 to 1969, the Warren Court examined almost
every aspect of the criminal justice system in the United States, using the 14th Amendment to
extend constitutional protections to all courts in every State. This process became known as the
nationalization of the Bill of Rights. During those years, cases concerning the right to legal counsel,
confessions, searches, and the treatment of juvenile criminals all appeared on the Court s docket.
The Warren Court s began with the case of Mapp v. Ohio, which was... Show more content on

He signed the confession willingly. The prosecution was proper, his conviction was based on
Arizona law, and his imprisonment was just. The Supreme Court should uphold his conviction and
should not further cripple the work of police.
By a 5 4 margin, the Court voted to overturn Miranda s conviction. Chief Justice Warren declared
that the burden is upon the State to demonstrate that procedural safeguards effective to secure the
privilege against self incrimination are followed. The current practice of incommunicado
interrogation is that the individual may not be compelled to incriminate himself.
Warren then summarized the case, measuring it against the fundamental fairness standards the
Court had established. It is clear, he wrote, that Miranda was not in any way apprised of his right to
consult with an attorney and to have one present during the interrogation, nor was his right not to
be compelled to incriminate himself effectively protected in any other manner. Without these
warnings [his] statements were inadmissible. The mere fact that he signed a statement which
contained a typed in clause stating that he had full knowledge of his legal rights does not approach
the knowing and intelligent waiver required to relinquish constitutional rights.
Turning to the standard for a valid waiver of rights, Warren wrote: A valid waiver will not be
presumed simply from the silence of the accused after warnings are

Biblical Imagery
Imagine spending a whole day at sea and barely catching fish for 84 days in a living. Imagine
being called the unlucky one. Imagine finally catching a fish, thinking it is your lucky day.
Imagine watching that fish slowly getting eaten away as you sail back to land. This is exactly what
happens to Santiago in the Old Man and the sea. In this book, Santiago, a cuban fisherman, battles
through aging, and the best catch of his life. As he spends his time at sea on his lucky day, he
encounters his battle with faith. Identically, Santiago s encounterment with faith is an influence by
not only himself but other characters in the novel. In context of religion, his battle with faith creates

He is a fisherman, who has taught a young man named Manolin how to fish. Presently, he is
older, poor, and loses faith in catching a fish. Based on the events he encounters and his battle
with faith, he builds up a christ like figure of himself. Initially, when Santiago tells himself. I am
not good for many turns. Yes your are, he told himself, you re good as ever . In this quotation,
Santiago s doubts diminish when he lets himself know he can endure forever, similar to christ,
he begins to understand the power of faith. Another similarity that Santiago has to Christ is
isolation. They both have a relation to being alone. When santiago realizes that he is isolated, he
struggles with marlin. He worked across the sea and knew how alone he was now . In this
quotation, he alludes the moment where Christ struggles under judgement of God for sin of
man. Christs moment of doubt and isolation, both came when Jesus separated from God, so he
can accept sins of a man like a man. Jesus has to be judged by God because of the sins. Jesus was
not with God for the moment alone. Next, Santiago and Christ refer to cutting useless hands. On
the second day of Santiago s boat ride, his left hand cramps so bad that he cannot use it. He still
manages to keep his fishing line with the other hands. He stresses leading to ranting like christ.
He says, If he cramps again, let the line cut him off . In this quote, Santiago stresses for his hand
because it is no use for him. If it is not useful, it does not matter if the line cuts off, it is out of his
way and he puts it away from him. This quote also brings out the name of Jesus statement. If he
hands sinful, then its no use to a man serving God, Therefore get rid of the hand before it infects
the body . When Jesus gave the sermon of the mount, he warns against the penalty of sin. Lastly,
Santiago has Christ s passion. As stated by , The writer focuses on the Christ

every single day just for the sake of fashion.
VI.Why should we care? It is not our skin that has been excoriate.
VII.Today, I hope to persuade each of you that it is not right to wear fur as it is brutal.
VIII.Since I have learnt about the condition of the animals that I have mentioned just now and the

The Hero Of Faith Based Social Justice
The ongoing war for social justice in all of its varying facets and regions throughout the globe
demands the relentless commitment of a select few individuals whom voluntarily endure
immeasurable trials to obtain justice and salvation for the afflicted individuals whom they
represent. The willingness to accept criticism and hatred from their peers, the willingness to spend
years of their lives in a cold, isolated prison, and the willingness to even sacrifice their own lives
for these selfless pursuits grants these individuals the title: hero of faith based social justice. The
unyielding dedication of these heroes to these endeavors of social justice is truly remarkable and
can be attributed to one common characteristic: an unusually devout faith in a higher power. I
believe that faith can serve as a powerful inspiration for individuals to pursue social justice, and
the dedication to one s faith can influence their commitment to accomplishing their specific goal
or mission in the realm of social justice. The acclaimed hero of faith based social justice: William
Wilberforce clearly portrays this relationship in his own life experiences as a converted Christian
who dedicated his life to the work of social justice.
Like a common thread intertwining the several heroes of social justice whom I have studied
throughout the semester, the devotion to their own respective faith has empowered these
individuals to dedicate their lives to the arduous task of representing the oppressed

CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND NARRATIVE REVIEW
RELATED TO COMPUTERISED PHYSICIAN ORDER ENTRY SYSTEM
The author of this paper is a nurse educator working in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within the
north west region of England. For the purpose of this paper, the author has chosen a systematic
review (SR) and a narrative review (NR) and aims to critically analyse these reviews using the
Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) tool. The CASP tool has been developed by the
Solutions for Public Health (SPH) (formerly known as Public Health Resources Unit), which is
controlled by the National Health Service (NHS) (SPH, 2006). The tool is based on the guidelines
formed by a group of clinicians at McMaster University, Canada ... Show more content on

The author feels that using two different tools would increase the rigour of the appraisal and its
relevance to practice. In the forthcoming sections of this essay, the author will attempt critically
analyse the two papers using the CASP tool for SRs.
Formulation of the research question
Formulation of the research question guides the type of data collection for the study and states
what the study will hypothesise (Polit and Beck, 2010). The CASP tool acknowledges that
clearly focused research question will describe the population studied, the intervention given
and the outcomes considered (SPH, 2006). The research question in the SR is clearly
formulated. The population of patients studied were general and critically ill hospital patients,
the intervention was a SR and outcome to be assessed was about the safety of the CPOE and
clinical decision support systems or CDSS (CDSS is a computerised medication prescription
system) based on hierarchy of outcome measures (kindly refer to table 2 of SR) within ICU
settings. Likewise, in the NR, the population of patients studied were general and critically ill
patients, the analysis was done via a NR and the purpose of the study was to assess the results of
CPOE on clinical and surrogate outcomes in hospitalised patients in both general and critical care
settings.
Based on this, the author acknowledges that the SR has adopted a narrow and more specific
research question as

Gay Men and Adoption Debate Essay
Gay Men and Adoption Debate
My investigation is based on the issue should gay men be allowed to adopt .
My aims are:
(1) To find out how the media portray gay adoption
(2) To uncover the attitudes of the general public toward gay adoption.
I am interested in this issue because I believe that it is unfair that gay people suffer more prejudice
than straight people when adopting a child. I think they should just be given the same checks as
straight people.
My first aim links into the parts of the syllabus; The Media and Power and Authority.
My second aim links in with The Family, Power and Authority, The Media and Stratification and
Differentiation.

Ultimately the contemporary family is more diverse. Today, more than in the past, gay couples
are more widely accepted, but there is still a longstanding taboo hanging over the idea of two
men bringing up a child. This is less so where there are two women, because they do not need to
adopt, and people also believe that it is women s natural goal to bring up a child. The debate over
gay men adopting is fuelled by the media who often make people scared of the idea.
Methodology ===========
For this investigation I used a number of methods to create my report. When distributing my
questionnaires I first used a pilot questionnaire to test my style of questions. From this study I
found that some of my questions were badly worded or contained spelling mistakes. This turned
out to be very helpful as a lot of my questions were very badly worded and could cause some
confusion.
When writing my questionnaire, I was careful not to include any questions that may cause offence
to my interviewees. The subject, Finding out the publics attitudes to gay adoption could raise some
problems. For example it was difficult to ask peoples sexuality because to many people that is a
very sensitive and private issue. I also accepted that asking peoples religion was too much of a
personal question. I realise that these questions

Christianity In Latin America Essay
While it is true that there is an overall decline in Christianity and religion in the west, there is a
large influx of it in places such as Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Why is this the case? To answer
this question, some background information on the spread if Christianity itself is helpful. After the
crucifixion and death of Jesus, many of his followers, such as the apostle Peter, went out throughout
parts of Europe, Asia, and reportedly parts of Africa to spread the word about him. The Apostle Paul
was perhaps the greatest these in his many missionary trips throughout Asia and Europe. While
Christianitywas heavily persecuted in the Roman Empireunder Emperors such as Nero, it managed
to spread reasonably well. Christianity was popular... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many Latin American countries, the original native inhabitants were invaded by Europeans
looking for land to discover and conquer and riches to be brought back with them. In many cases,
Spanish Conquistadors came in conquered native peoples, via superior weapons, or illnesses, and
then proceeded to enforce their ways on life on them. Christianity in Latin America, much like
Africa, would take root and spread throughout various countries. Although originally brought by
force, Christianity in these two countries has flourished over the years, and in a way, has taken on
an identity of its own apart from its past. As for Asia, Christianity was spread there earlier. As
mentioned earlier, disciples and apostles of Jesus did arrive to some Asian countries and
successfully established churches and converted some. However, as time went one, other religions
in Asian countries such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and others took precedence. In many cases,
Christianity was illegal. This came about mainly during the time of Communism in China and other
places, but even in countries like Japan Christianity was forbidden by the emperor. While
Christianity has had a turbulent time in Asia, and still does to this day, there are several
missionaries reaching out to Asian countries, specifically China. While Christianity is illegal there
and it is hard to tell just how many Chinese are Christian, there has been an increase in the efforts to
spread Christianity throughout

Analysis of Various International Environmental Conflicts...
Throughout the world, conflicts over environmental issues abound. As technology progresses and
our world continues to become more interconnected, an understanding of the worldГўs
environmental crises is important and necessary for the well being of both humankind and the
environment. This paper addresses and comments on the issues presented in the following books:
Ecology of an African Rain Forest by Thomas T. Struhsaker, Green Guerillas edited by Helen
Collinson, NIMBY Politics in Japan by S.Hayden Lesbirel, Where EnvironmentalConcerns and
Security Strategies Meet by James A. Winnefeld and Mary E. Morris, and Innovations in

As the authors point out:
The national security analyst focuses more on the mid and short term, and, looking around, sees
few conflicts in todayГўs world that are the result of environmental damage. The environmental
analyst takes a longer view and asserts that todayГўs environmental damage nearly guarantees
future conflict. The two communities are starting to come closer together because the accelerated
pace of environmental damage has moved the security fallout from that damage from the long term
to the mid and short term (Winnefeld 1994, p.1).
In regards to the Middle East, it appears that much of the long standing conflict in the region is
linked both directly and indirectly to water supplies. Since water is a vital part of life, it would
make sense that this is a leading reason that political conflicts in the Middle East are old and
seemingly intractable. The debate over water stems from two main sources, the Euphrates and
Tigris Rivers, with all nations in the watershed equally involved in the conflicts regarding the
management of these rivers (Winnefeld 1994). Contributing factors in the water related conflicts
include issues regarding water quality, location of water sources, and location of water demand. In

FDR and Winston Churchill Essay
Between the years of 1939 and 1945 the world was sent spiralling in a mess of corruption,
violence and uncertainty. Allied powers were faced with the unparalleled task of protecting the
world from tyranny. In terms of political power, this weight was bestowed upon the shoulders of
two memorable individuals. By and large WinstonChurchilland Franklin D. Rooseveltcan be
labelled as beacons of democracy and leaders of the free world in their time.
Winston Churchill, the son of Lord Randolph Churchill, became an officer in the 4th cavalry in
1894. Between 1895 and 1899 he served in Cuba, India and South Africa as a reporter. Churchill

In 1936, Roosevelt was re elected to a second term in office. He denounced international
aggression and called for US entry into the war. In 1940, Roosevelt made history in becoming
the only president to serve for a third term in office. The United States, lead by Roosevelt entered
the war after the surprise attack on Pearl Harbour. On April 12, 1945, roughly a month before
Germany surrendered to the Allies, President Roosevelt died suddenly from a cerebral
haemorrhage. He was succeeded by Harry S. Truman.
Both Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt were leaders of democratic societies whose
general principles strongly advocate the promotion and protection of freedom. Great Britain and
the United States of America respectively have been the two greatest democratic nations, in terms
of economic and military factors, throughout the greater part of the twentieth century. This being
said, it is obvious that any leaders of these countries must share a similar set of values and have a
somewhat parallel view of international affairs. Both Churchill and Roosevelt believed in
democracy as the superior political system in the world. They both understood that human beings
should be given a certain number of rights and be treated fairly in a society. They also viewed
western style democratic living standards as a model for how a society should run and how people
should be treated.

Is Simulated Violence Causing Dangerous Behavior?
It has been argued for years, does simulated violence make people more violent? Many people
have different opinions and are pretty split on the subject. Jay Hull, who is part of Dartmouth
College claims, Play of these Mature rated, risk glorifying games was associated with subsequent
increase in sensation seeking ... hanging out with kids who smoke cigarettes ... and thinking one
would like to try drinking and smoking. (Barclay). This quote demonstrates that when people play
these violent games, they look for more rebellious activities. While our video games are growing in
details and realisticness, so is the violence. Once we find ways to simulate something, we go
overboard with the idea. Right now, video games simulating violence have been ... Show more

Many who play video games will agree, it s easy to get addicted. Even more so is that you could
get emotionally connected to that game. Those games, especially violent ones, can be an outlet of
aggression for those who feel more angry. However, what happens when this outlet does not fulfil
the satisfaction of letting out aggression anymore? What if someone went out into the real world
and did the actions in their violent games? As you can see, this could totally happen and this is
why games that simulate violence could cause aggression in some people (DO VIDEO GAMES
CAUSE VIOLENCE?). This evidence shows that even if people play violent games to let their
aggression out, it may not do the job and they could go do crimes out in the real world. People
who do these crimes inspired by video games usually do this to let out their aggression or do it
because they enjoy it. Another piece of evidence is that those who are addicted to violent games
have more aggression. According to Forbes.com, The Aurora shooter, James Holmes, the Sandy
Hook shooter, Adam Lanza, they re all described as essentially being addicted to video games.

Latinos in U. S. A. and Hollywood s Discrimination
Hispanic or Latino, is a segment of the population in the States of the American Union that has
grown in quantity, economy and education, and everything indicates that it would continue in the
same way, as a result of the Hispanic people has inhabited here, even before this country conformed
as the United States. Latinos also have made important contributions to this country in all aspects
and levels and areas to society, of the sort of the arts, sports and politics. Cinema is considered
an art, the seventh art, as well it is a form of expression and reflection of society and its times. In
consequence, filming is a very important business, and Hollywood is the mecca of the industry.
Then, we could expect that the significance of their presence would be properly portrayed. But, to
the contrary to we might assume, we see in Hollywood s filmography that they have been assigned
few roles, which are also mostly stereotyped and unflattering. In this essay, we will review some ...

Total Words in this Document:
Title: Can I Use a Garbage Disposal if I Have a Septic System?
Millions of homeowners around the country are using septic, rather than sewer systems. Whether
their septic system was a choice, or was a necessity due to lack of a shared sewer system, septic
systems provide significant advantages for many who appreciate the environmentally friendly
design, durability, and lower costs.
Septic systems that have been properly installed maintained should last between 20 and 40 years;
many, though, last significantly longer. Regular cleanings, pumpings, and care are necessities for
keeping your septic system running properly. It s also important to make sure that you monitor

A garbage disposal is used to grind food scraps into tiny pieces, making is easier to dispose of and
process the waste. When you have a septic system, the pieces of food are flushed down the drain,
into your system.
Just as you should avoid sending other solids down the septic system, the garbage disposal poses a
problem when homeowners try to process and dispose of non biodegradable food items, like food
packaging items, or even hard to break down foods, like bones, fruit pits, coffee grounds, or oil and
grease.
These items add up in septic tank, and as the sludge accumulates, it takes away from the full
capacity of the tank. Ideally, the bacteria and treatments will help to break down the components
that are causing the sludge, but as the larger, heavier pieces sink to the bottom more quickly, the

Root Rot Caused By M. Phaseolina
Root rot caused by M. phaseolina (a soil as well as seed borne fungus) is a devastating disease of
mungbean and causes serious yield losses. The present study has demonstrated that the fungus
induced severe root rot in mungbean cv. T 44 and exhibited significant decline in the plant growth
and yield. This has verified that the tested mungbean cv. T 44 was susceptible to the rootrot fungus.
Rotting of tap root and presence of few lateral roots is the characteristic symptom of the disease.
Because of few lateral roots and root hairs, drying and withering of leaves occurs due to less
water absorption. During the initial stages of pathogenesis, the fungal hyphae penetrates the root
epidermis which is restricted to the intercellular spaces of the cortical tissues of the primary roots.
Due to this, collapse of adjacent cells occurs and heavily infected plantlets may die. Afterwards at
the onset of flower, the mycelium grow intracellularly through the xylem and plug the vessels [28,
29], produce toxins and several enzymes [30, 31], and thereby disrupt host cells. Inoculation with
M. phaseolina decreased the growth and yield of mungbean by 32.1 45.5% and 36%, respectively.
Soil and seed borne nature of the pathogen creates problem for an effective management of the root
rot disease. Use of the chemicals is one of the best options for the management of plant diseases
which is quick as well as effective method. The present approach was to manage the root rot
disease by using

Why Did The Stock Market Crash
On October 24, 1929 the Stock Market Crashed causing the economy to fall. This brought the
nation to its lowest point, called the Great Depression. This had a huge negative effect on the
United States and on many families. Most of the United States capital was represented by stocks
and when it crashed most of the money was gone and the economy plunged. The Stock Market
crashed because Americans thought it was a quick and easy way to get rich. They were caught
up in the fact of living wealthy and not having any struggles.1 People that have invested in the

Essay On Sleep Apnea
One of the most common types of sleep disorders that a person may suffer from is sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea is when a person suffers from uncontrolled stops in breathing. People with this
disorder usually stop breathing while asleep. This disorder is caused from blockage in the airway.
When a person is asleep, the airway may become tight because the muscles that keep it open are
relaxed. One form of sleep apneais obstructive sleep apnea. In obstructive sleep apnea, blockage
in the airway may be caused from clotted tissue or fat. Snoring can be caused from any air that
gets through the blockage. When the snoring is stopped and the airway is completely blocked, a

the symptoms they are having, the person with sleep apnea will experience a full day of feeling

on the patient. According to Dr. Vince Berger, This test records the patient s brain waves,
heartbeat, and breathing during an entire night. Treatments are available to patients who are
diagnosed with sleep apnea. Some cases of sleep apnea can be treated by advising the patient to

Oil Drilling Endangers Arctic National Wildlife Riches Can you imagine the grocery stores and

16 Years On The Street Quotes

Mean s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl Linda Felix Positive Psychology Dr. R. Barke
November 28, 2016 The book, in autobiographical mode, relates Auschwitz to the life of the
author Viktor E. Frankl in the concentration camps of the former Nazi Germany. It reports the
cruelty in which the SS soldiers used to mistreat the prisoners and in turn explains how the
concentration camp life in the mind of the average prisoner affected. As soon as they reached
the concentration camp, which in this case was Auschwitz, the prisoner was stripped of his
personal belongings and identity documents. They identified the prisoners with a number. Then
there was a first selection that for some would have a fatal destiny, crematoria and gas chambers.
The forced labor of the prisoners sometimes had a reward in the form of a coupon. This coupon
could be redeemed for a dozen cigarettes or a dozen servings of soup. Usually the vouchers were
kept for the soup, but thanks to them you could tell when a prisoner lost the will to live and
smoked their cigars to enjoy their last days of existence. The author divides life into the field into
three phases. Phase one, The Shock. The symptom that characterizes this phase, according to
Frankl, is the shock. As soon as they were at Auschwitz, they received a group of prisoners who
spoke in every imaginable and well fed European language. That is why the prisoners who arrived
thought they could share their situation. They adopt the state of

The Gospel of Matthew presents the promised Messiah, the immaculate Savior and King of the

Testament through Jesus Christ. Matthew shows ages of prophecy fulfilled through a single life
span of one man s life. The fulfillment of the law is found in Christ and he recapitulates Israel in
a condensed manner perfectly. The Gospel, also goes on to show the Israelites rejection of Christ

Throughout his Gospel, Jesus is identified as the son of David or the son of Abraham. By doing

status and his foreknowledge. Matthew is not concentrating on the animals as a possession as he is

The War Of The American Revolution
No conflict in American history is as well known then the American Revolutionary war. War
between the colonies and Great Britain began in April of 1775 and, in a years time, the conflict will
grow into one of the most arduous wars ever fought. After eight years of a hard fought war, the
colonists eventually won their independence over the British. Rooted in the conflict are countless
causes and events that ultimately shaped the country into how it is today. The American Revolution
also influenced Contemporary American society and even on Pluralism. There is no main specific
cause that led to the war. According to one article, the conflict arose from growing tensions between
residents of Great Britain s thirteen North American colonies and the colonial government, which
represented the British crown ( American Revolutionary History, 2009). The numerous causes of
the war were rooted in the colonies demand for independence from Great Britain. Many believed
that the colonies could function independently without Britain s aid; however, Britain s claim to the
land was that the colonies were established to aid Britain and to do what best suited the mother
country. This principle was illustrated in the outcome of the French and Indian war, that lasted
from 1754 to 1763. In the conflict, Britain declared war on France to stop the French from gaining
control of land in the colonies that Britain thought belonged to them. Britain won the conflict;

other. You can t go out and buy a motherboard, only to discover that one of your other parts doesn t
fit the right requirements. You also needto spend a good deal of time researching what you want, so
to make sure that things work together. When assembling the computer, you have to worry
about being gentle with your hardware. You have got to make sure that you keep yourself static
free as well because if you do not ground yourself while in the building process, you could cause
damage to your components. One way to avoid this is to not wear wool or rub your socks on the
carpet; This helps to prevent a build up of static electricity, and you could always buy an antistatic
wrist strap. By building a computer, you will have to fix the problem if anything goes wrong.
This can be a challenge since you have different components from different companies. If you
don t know what you re doing, you will have to pay for those damages; You can t get much help
from one company to try to repair your computer either. Another challenge you face in building a
computer, is that you have control over what goes into the computer. This can be a challenge
since there is such a large variety of components to choose from, with prices being different, and
the parts having different performances. At the same time, this just adds to the idea of full
customization for the customer. So the 3 big cons are; You are responsible for fixing a damaged
part, You have to make sure everything is compatible with each other, and it could be sometimes
possible you will have to spend more money to get the things that you want performance wise. The
3 big pros are; You get full

Tropical Rainforest In Brazil
Long, long ago, in a lively and vibrant tropical rainforest in Brazil, there lived three birds. First,
there was Kiwi the parrot. He was the most beautiful bird in all of Brazil. His colorful feathers
and bright plumage never failed to turn heads. Next, there was Victor the peacock. His gorgeous
royal blue color and alluring tail feathers attracted all of the females. Last, and probably least,
there was Toko the toucan. He had dull, dark feathers, and a short, ugly beak. Because of this,
poor Toko had no friends and endured a lot of teasing. One day, when the forest habitat was
buzzing with activity, Toko decided to go get some food. On his way, he saw Kiwi and Victor. He
tried to say hi, but they drowned him out with jeers. Oh... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boring old Kiwi and his annoying sidekick Victor. I guess you re the ugly ones now. Soon, Toko
began bragging and making all the other birds feel awful, just like the way Kiwi and Victor had
made him feel when they teased him. One day, when Toko was once again bragging about
himself, Kiwi flew up to him and said, Goddess Dalia wants to see you in the cave. Kiwi looked
inexplicable happy, and Toko was confused. Why would Dalia want to see him? Toko flew to the
cave of the gods to find Dalia waiting. She did not look happy. In fact, she looked quite the
opposite. She glared at him. She launched into her argument as soon as he came in. You went
against my ONE CONDITION! You brag so much! You have only gotten worse after I helped
you. The other birds and I cannot deal with your self obsessed, narcissistic ways anymore. This is
it! I am going to change you back to how you looked in the beginning. , she yelled

Comparison Of Macy s And Old Navy Stores
My favorite two places I normally shop are Macy s and Old Navy. I always get quality clothes
and items from these stores. Both stores are really good in marketing their products both online
and in store as well as use social media to engage their customers. Both store sells quality brands
but Old Navy is a cheaper than Macys. Both stores promote special deals both online and in store
such as percentage discount and free shipping with an amount of purchase to obtain such deal.
I always free comfortable shopping both in store and online because of the flexibility I get when
purchase from Macy s. There has not been a single weekend that I don t see deals or special sale at
their website. For instance as of today they even have free shipping

Kagemusha(Shadow Warrior) by Akira Kurosawa Essay
Research Paper
Shadow Warrior by Akira Kurosawa The film Shadow Warrior also known as Kagemusha was
made by Kurosawa in the year of 1980. The film recounted the actual historical event about the
death of a great samurai Shingen Takeda who was known as the head of Takeda family. The film
started in the year of 1573 while all samurai families competed with each other and the final goal
was to unite Japan as a whole. The period was also known as Sengoku period. The story began in
Shingen s place while his younger brother, Nobukado found a thief who looked almost exactly like
his brother. The safety for the head of family was top priority during Sengoku period. Therefore, the

These four signs are exclusive for Shingen himself or the head of family. During last battle fought
by Shingen s son and alliance of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, Kurosawa emphasized on
these four sign heavily and tried to parallel different armies action with the meaning of the signs.
So we could actually feel the speed of the wind while Takeda Family s cavalry was moving. The
rows on rows of cavalry bewitching the world with noble horsemanship, the brilliant ensigns in
their primary colors representing the different noble houses, the incomparable swiftness of the
warriors in their movements and their swordplay, the peremptory long distance shouts, the
precision of the gunfire, the instantaneous obedience of the foot soldiers to their commanders: all
bespeak the beauty, glory, and efficiency of an elegant warfare, even in defeat. (Manheim)The
heavy emphasis on the signs also showed us steps one by one how Takeda Family was defeated.
Because the strong connection between these signs with the Takeda Family, while the Kagemusha
found the flag with those 4 signs in the water we immediately understand Takeda Family was
defeated totally with nothing left. One other great scene was when most of Takeda family s army
was defeated by enemy s gunmen, the wound soldiers and horses lying on the ground struggled to
die. In Kagemusha he adds the very effective shots of dying horses to be a more

Coming Of Age Throughout Mississippi
Deandra Green
Professor Joshua Jeffers
United States History II
3 November 2015
Coming of Age in Mississippi The book Coming of Age in Mississippi goes into detail about a
very prominent time in United States history. The book takes us back to a time where the issue of
civil rights began to rise eventually reaching its peak marking this an unforgettable time in history
for that generation and for generations to come. During this time the south in general was already
a tough place to be in, but the in the Deep South things were even worse, which is where the story
takes place. Not only was race a huge issue other things factored into these trying times such as
huge levels of poverty, and various acts of violence. Although all of these factors played a crucial
part to the make up of the Civil Rights Movement, the one that stands out the most is prejudice
with the other factors such as unfair gender roles and poverty falling suit behind. Anne Moody
shares different stages of her life throughout the book, starting from her childhood documenting life
changing events all the way through her adult life. We learn in the beginning that Moody had
many difficult times during her childhood. From her home life to the way she was treated outside
of her home. Her family was torn apart when she was young, and for many children that can be
extremely tough leaving a life long impression. Moody s father left, basically abandoning them
during a time where they should have been getting

Theme Of Empathy In The Cask Of Amontillado
Remorse is a product of a deep regret which is brought upon by empathy, something in which the
character Montresor in the story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe claims he does not
possess, as he desires to commit the perfect revenge. This paper argues that the em dash used in
the cask of amontillado signifies that Montresor feels remorse for his actions but rapidly
recomposes himself, as the em dash allows him to blame his feelings on account of the dampness
of the catacombs(pg.854). But, in doing so proves that perfect revenge is unattainable, and
Montresor is left to pretend that he is unable to feel empathy.
The em dash in this story suggests Montresor feels remorse but wills it away. But in doing so,
proves that perfect revenge is nonexistent. No matter how deep the hatred may be for Fortunato,
Montresor is only human and as such, his consciousness and empathy take control of him. This
new found realization and remorse is quickly overcome, regaining his composure by stating his
feelings occurred on account of the dampness of the catacombs (pg.854). Thus, the em dash
displays how quickly the entire mood of a situation can change. Montresor was able to swiftly
recover his composure and as a result it would seem as he had no feeling of remorse although, the
opposite is true. His remorse is further shown when after 50 years he said [rest in peace] (pg.854).
Montresor still has some remorse left in him even after this extended period thus his need to ask

Cults And Its Effects On Society
Cults have been around since the 1930 s and are becoming well known around the world. Although
awareness has been spread out about the serious consequences joining a cult may have on a person
s life, individuals continue falling pray into cultic groups and remain an active part; the result of
joining is decades being brainwashed into believing only the members hold the truth /enlighten by
already brainwashed, devoted members and their prophet . The majorities of individuals in a cultlive
under cruel, almost inhumane, conditions and are treated awfully. The members have been stripped
from interacting with family members/friends, freedom on speech, nutrients, money, and the right
to think for one s self. Probably the worst punishment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normally in cultic groups, it is prohibited to assimilate with non members. If those whom are
caught breaking this rule, her or she will suffer serious consequences such as beating, public
humiliation, and starvation. Another characteristic shared among this group is the zero tolerance
of priest, rabbis, or ministers berating/ harassing their congregations with hate speeches towards
anyone with the intent of causing harm to another person. If a priest happens to encounter
someone problematic, it is encouraged to pray for his or her salvation. Also related to the priest,
he will not restrict couples from a normal sex life; instead, priest will promote self respecting
boundaries for couples in and out marriages. Usually in terror groups, the priest controls all sexual
activity among individuals and frequently demands members to use his or her sexual appeal to
lure new recruits. This method of recruitment often leads marriages to end. Correlating with
normal characteristic presented in a group, it is imperative to take a carful look at the movement s
leader and examine if he or she presents good leadership qualities that will make the whole groups
successful not just them. As presented in Olsson s (2013) journal Normal Compared to Abnormal
Leaders and Groups, a good leader obtain four necessary qualities: knowledge, honesty, narcissism,
and communication skills. Leaders should be capable of making smart decisions under stressful

Petruccio Taming Katherina
Also, the point that Bianca s characteristic has changed overall needs to be estimated. The change
is not as dramatic as the case of Katherina, but Bianca still goes through a change. She was a docile
and lady like woman at the beginning, but in Act5, she turns out to be a woman who can reject her
husband s request and insist her own opinion. Consequently, it is hard to jump to a conclusion that
this play sugarcoats the virtue of submissive women. In this point of view, the progress of Petruccio
taming Katherina can be interpreted as an aspect of an individual putting another person under his
own control rather than a husband taming his wife. Being free of misunderstanding that
Shakespeare is the patriarchal bard, the reason he chose a structure

Firdaus Flat Or Round Characters
To establish of whether Firdaus is a flat character or a round one, we would first have to come to
terms with the multiple, overlapping network of knowledges which continuously disrupt any
singular reading of her. What I mean by this is that Firdaus, the text which she resides in, and the
author that has produced her are situated within discourse the West (and the East as its ideological
shadow), the Arab world (specifically Egypt), and the feminist subject that both strive to produce;
that these discourses work in many ways to contest each other brings into question of their validity.
It is to this point which I argue that flat or round characters are not static ontologies but produce
alternative reading of effaced or obscured by other in

Deogratias Rejection Letter
Deogratias Rejection Letter Poor English, a history he is not willing to divulge, and is a potential
cause for violence on campus; for these reasons, Deogratias should not be admitted into Columbia
University, for he does not meet several required fields necessary to attend the university. Even
with his inspiring story, Deo cannot bypass the necessary steps to get into the Ivy League school.
First off, Deo cannot pass the English proficiency exam. He was only taught French in Burundi.
Although he was taught that French was the universal language, and excels at it no less, English is
the language taught with at Columbia and one must understand what a professor is saying if they
want to learn. Deo described not understanding police when he arrived (Kidder 8). Any student
should be able to understand simple questions about the whereabouts of papers and other
documents, this is simple English. Another instance of confusion in English occurred when police
were searching Deo for drugs (Kidder 17). The policemen become frustrated when Deo did not

another ping of doubt arises when Do leaves out details about his family when talking to Sharon
(Kidder 52). One might say it was because she was a stranger, but I was also a stranger when I
interviewed him; I can only wonder what he left out. The most prominent example of Deo s
dodging of the truth is when he refused to write an account of his life, something that surely would
have helped his situation; Sharon suggested it could lead to benefactors (Kidder 56). So why would
he refuse? I must digress that I do question the accuracy of his statement, chiefly due to this

Persuasive Essay On Race
The concept of being a post racial society is something that is only a fantasy in America. The
country is constantly dealing with racism based conflict despite the ongoing efforts to end them.
Dominant races are constantly bettering themselves at the cost of the underprivileged minority. To
achieve a racefree society, we would have to eliminate the idea of race in general. Instead of there
being various races we should all be unified as one race, the human race, and simply be
Americans. In this country, we are constantly emphasizing the differences between the races. We
are all forced to identify as one race or another when we should instead be focusing on equality
and unity over the differences. To fully understand the extent to which racial differences play a
role in American society, we must first understand the prominence of prejudice and discrimination
against minorities in the country. According to Sensoy and DiAngelo, we use prejudice to place
people into groups that make sense based on gender, age, economic standing, and appearance. We
use stereotypes along with prejudice to generate an understanding of a person without truly
knowing them. We then discriminate against members of this group based solely on what ideals
we have created about them due to prejudices that are often instilled in us from birth (chapter 3).
Many Americans adopt views from our parents about people of a particular race or background and
often think negatively of them just because we see

The Cry Of The Children
The Cry Of The Children and The Art of Incitation
Veering from the egocentric poems of the Romantic era, Victorian poets began to write poetry not
only to express the feelings of an I, but also to inspire change in the collective we. Being from a
historical period with a dramatic class divide, Victorian poets wrote with the intention of crafting
beautiful lasting poetry as well as articulating a need for cultural reform in their now. One of the
most renowned Victorian poets, Elizabeth Barrett Browning possessed the expert skill of
integrating not only imagery and precise rhyme scheme into her poetry, but afflicting her readers
with a sense of pity so paramount they had no choice but to make a change.
After having read a government report exposing the heinous working conditions of child laborers in
mines and factories, Browing began an impassioned campaign of awareness using her best medium
of expression: the written word (Norton 421). Utilizing an uncomfortable and confrontational
rhythm never before used by either her Romantic predecessors or Victorian contemporaries,
Browning creates a vehement emotional plea in The Cry of The Children so powerful that it is
credited with pushing the British parliament to pass new laws regulating child labor.
The speaker in the poem does not hold accusations back for even a moment igniting the thirteen
stanza imploration with the lines, Do ye hear the children weeping, O my brothers, / Ere the
sorrow comes with years? (1 2).

The Four Paradigms of Human Existence
In these last months of spring for 2014, the global conflicts have been very prominent. As a
spectator watching these unrests unfold I am lead to consider what is driving this unrest around
the globe. To give cause to these precipitous events one cannot help but try and get to basics first
to help understand who of the great intellects is looking in the right direction on the future of our
world inhabitants. Of the four paradigms, this case of believable results, shows for consideration
to only one predictable paradigm. In defense of stating a clear understanding one must first make
look at the empirical facts and so research and logic first leads us to the understanding of which
of the authors of these four paradigms and what each might have hopefully considered when they
concluded the ideas that they put to articles. Humans, which we will refer to from here forward in
all considerations, have very strong constructs that basic biology reveals Self actualization,
Esteem, Love and Belonging, Safety, and Physiological existence (Kurt Goldstein s book The
Organism). The first, self actualization is basically the purpose to understand one s full potential,
Esteem is the need to feel respected; this includes the need to have ones own self esteem and self
respect. Esteem also portrays the typical human desire to be accepted and valued by others. Love
and belonging is next and human requirements are always interpersonal and involve thoughts of
belongingness which leads us

Social Networking Effects On The Socialization Of People
What if Facebook was used to its fullest potential? In twelve years the social networking
site has surely grown quite a bit from the site intended to allow Harvard students to connect with
one another. Today, Facebook is a site filled with advertisements and cheaply made free to play
games. Cat pictures and cheery posts that say, Like/share if you love Jesus! riddle the
landscape of a service that is supposed to be actually connecting people. Things like this have led
people to lose hope in online social networking. To some it seems like it has become a detriment
to society. However, the results of what happens when it is used properly should not be
overlooked. Online social networking in general promotes actual relationships and benefits our
society by providing a medium perfect for connecting with people in a variety of ways. As with
everything, there are those who think differently, believing that social
networking has adverse effects on the socialization of people. It s still surprising to me,
however, this combination of Orwell and WALL E that has humans watching one another
through computer screens and socializing through in quasi isolation, remarks an article
on Times.com (Davis). Those of that opinion think that indirect communication via online
social networking will lead to increased isolationist tendencies. While these seem like valid
concerns, if anything, those feared online social networks actually help people in social

Impact Of Paul Of Tarsus

everyday life. By providing ethics, morals and practices, christian are guided everyday through
their lives. The impact and effect of Paul of Tarsus is represented through his contribution towards
theology and sacred texts which has led him to being referred to as the founder of Christianity, and
the most significant figure in Christianity after JesusChrist.
There is not much known about Paul during his early life, but it is known that Paul was originally
known as Saul, and that he was zealous for Jewish traditions and he intensely persecuted the
followers of Jesus. On the road to damascus, Saul had an encounter with the Lord Jesus, roughly 3

Similarities Between Neoclassicism And Neoclassical Art
From 1789 1799, the French Revolution marked the end of an era, with the artistic styles of the
time illuminating the state of affairs in France and documenting the story of an oppressed people.
The French Revolution had no single cause, resulting in the overthrow of a leisurely, ineffective
monarchy and its supporting aristocracy, hated for their roles in bankrupting a country, causing
their people to starve, and yet still prioritizing their own lives of luxury over improvement of the
economy and the lives of their subjects.
Rococo art is beautiful to the eye and perhaps to the naive soul, yet is hideous at the same time,
when one gazes beyond the seeming celebration of life and nature to the true human reality that

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zimpfer. Mr. Zimpfer would not have any problem providing the evidence needed to satisfy requirements 1, 3, and 4. Requirement 2 on the other hand might be a little tricky to prove. ADEA Requirements for Conclusive Evidence and Relevant Court Cases Though Mr. Zimpfer s attorney was able to get a report from an I/O psychologist, Dr. Josephs, which verifies his ability to perform the duties described in the ad for the managerial position, the county could also get its own expert to rebut this psychologist s findings in the report. If Dr. Josephs is able to convince this jury then there is sufficient evidence to conclusively prove that Mr. Zimpfer was a victim of discrimination, since her report shows that he is clearly more qualified for the position than Mr. Merriman is. Critical Evaluation of the I/O Psychologist Report Though Dr. Josephs report looks comprehensive, it could be considered to be lacking all the information needed to conclude who the best candidate for the position is. To come up with scores, Dr. Josephs did not take into consideration the conversations the interviewer had with each candidate. Though Mr. Zimpher s resume may have showed that he possessed all the skill she gave him credit for, those written words don t necessarily translate to actions. It could be that he was not able to convince the interview panel that he actually possessed those skills. Mr. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Contextual Interpretation Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet Contextual Interpretations Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet At the time of Shakespeare s writing The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (hereby referred to as Hamlet), the two most commonly practiced denominations of Christianity in Europe were Catholicism and Protestantism. Within the play itself, Shakespeare references the traditions and ideas of both religions freely, creating cause for debate among modern scholars as to what part, if any, religious context plays in Hamlet. The influence of both religions is evident; however, as Shakespeare mixes the two, difficulties arise in finding a clear interpretation of the opposing religious contexts. The idea of Catholicism as the foremost religion in Shakespeare s Hamlet arises as a direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this time period, Denmark was considered a Protestant (and more specifically, Lutheran) nation. It has never been made clear whether or not Shakespeare intended to mirror the true to life Denmark in his work, but the references can be easily inferred. One of the most important pieces of evidence related to Protestantism in Hamlet is in reference to the University of Wittenberg, which Hamlet, Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern attend during the course of the work. Wittenberg, the city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and was made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to Protestantism; Martin Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was during his tenure as Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. In addition, the University of Wittenberg served as a center of the Protestant Reformation movement in Europe. Therefore, it can be inferred that during their time at the university, Hamlet and his acquaintances would likely have been very heavily exposed to and quite possibly even expected to serve the Protestant ... • 7. Comparison Of Dwight D. Eisenhower And The Army Leadership... When President Eisenhower spoke these words to the graduating cadets, whose place he had stood in exactly forty years prior, he drew on decades of experience as an officer in the United States Army but only two years of experience as the President of the United States. President Eisenhower had already accomplished a massive goal at the time he made this address, which was to end the Korean War just months after his inauguration, and the majority of his time in office was still ahead of him. Little did President Eisenhower know, these words would ring loud and true for his own time in office. In the years to come, President Eisenhower would draw on the traits outlined in the Army Leadership Requirements Model, which would make him a great Army leader and, subsequently, a great president. These traits would serve as the baseline for Eisenhower to develop Fred Greenstein s presidential leadership traits and excel in the presidency. In this fast growing economy, many people believe that older workers should stop working at a certain age because younger workers will keep up with rapid economic development better. Lois Lowry describes this discrimination in The Giver when citizens get older, they give up their jobs and are treated as children instead of knowledgeable individuals to maintain the sameness in the community. Similarly, that critical thinking and wisdom have gained through the years in jobs lets older workers delivery top quality as well as help companies avoid the repetition of mistakes. In tough marketplaces, it is important to realize that older workers are the sources of companies profits because after working for a long time, they have built good relationships as powerful strings to connect loyal and potential customers with companies. Under those circumstances, older workers productivities are much more or at least on par with younger workers. Besides productivity, some employers are concerned about older worker s loyalty because younger workers are supposed to have a longer path with companies in the future. Of course their concern is reasonable because workers loyalty decides the turn over rate that is involved in hiring and training costs, but Sloan Center on Aging and Work reports that older workers get high marks for loyalty (Dan). Most of younger workers are on the stage of applying their skills and knowledge in order to earn experience and figure out the careers of their lives. Due Process and Crime Control The Warren Court left an unprecedented legacy of judicial activism in the area of civil rights law as well as in the area of civil liberties specifically, the rights of the accused as addressed in Amendments 4 through 8. In the period from 1961 to 1969, the Warren Court examined almost every aspect of the criminal justice system in the United States, using the 14th Amendment to extend constitutional protections to all courts in every State. This process became known as the nationalization of the Bill of Rights. The prosecution was proper, his conviction was based on Arizona law, and his imprisonment was just. The Supreme Court should uphold his conviction and should not further cripple the work of police. By a 5 4 margin, the Court voted to overturn Miranda s conviction. Chief Justice Warren declared that the burden is upon the State to demonstrate that procedural safeguards effective to secure the privilege against self incrimination are followed. The current practice of incommunicado interrogation is that the individual may not be compelled to incriminate himself. Warren then summarized the case, measuring it against the fundamental fairness standards the Court had established. It is clear, he wrote, that Miranda was not in any way apprised of his right to consult with an attorney and to have one present during the interrogation, nor was his right not to be compelled to incriminate himself effectively protected in any other manner. Without these warnings [his] statements were inadmissible. The mere fact that he signed a statement which contained a typed in clause stating that he had full knowledge of his legal rights does not approach the knowing and intelligent waiver required to relinquish constitutional rights. Initially, when Santiago tells himself. I am not good for many turns. Yes your are, he told himself, you re good as ever . In this quotation, Santiago s doubts diminish when he lets himself know he can endure forever, similar to christ, he begins to understand the power of faith. Another similarity that Santiago has to Christ is isolation. They both have a relation to being alone. When santiago realizes that he is isolated, he struggles with marlin. He worked across the sea and knew how alone he was now . In this quotation, he alludes the moment where Christ struggles under judgement of God for sin of man. Christs moment of doubt and isolation, both came when Jesus separated from God, so he can accept sins of a man like a man. Jesus has to be judged by God because of the sins. Jesus was not with God for the moment alone. Next, Santiago and Christ refer to cutting useless hands. On the second day of Santiago s boat ride, his left hand cramps so bad that he cannot use it. He still manages to keep his fishing line with the other hands. He stresses leading to ranting like christ. He says, If he cramps again, let the line cut him off . In this quote, Santiago stresses for his hand because it is no use for him. If it is not useful, it does not matter if the line cuts off, it is out of his way and he puts it away from him. This quote also brings out the name of Jesus statement. If he hands sinful, then its no use to a man serving God, Therefore get rid of the hand before it infects the body . • 12. The Hero Of Faith Based Social Justice The ongoing war for social justice in all of its varying facets and regions throughout the globe demands the relentless commitment of a select few individuals whom voluntarily endure immeasurable trials to obtain justice and salvation for the afflicted individuals whom they represent. The willingness to accept criticism and hatred from their peers, the willingness to spend years of their lives in a cold, isolated prison, and the willingness to even sacrifice their own lives for these selfless pursuits grants these individuals the title: hero of faith based social justice. The unyielding dedication of these heroes to these endeavors of social justice is truly remarkable and can be attributed to one common characteristic: an unusually devout faith in a higher power. I believe that faith can serve as a powerful inspiration for individuals to pursue social justice, and the dedication to one s faith can influence their commitment to accomplishing their specific goal or mission in the realm of social justice. The acclaimed hero of faith based social justice: William Wilberforce clearly portrays this relationship in his own life experiences as a converted Christian who dedicated his life to the work of social justice. Like a common thread intertwining the several heroes of social justice whom I have studied throughout the semester, the devotion to their own respective faith has empowered these individuals to dedicate their lives to the arduous task of representing the oppressed ... Today, more than in the past, gay couples are more widely accepted, but there is still a longstanding taboo hanging over the idea of two men bringing up a child. This is less so where there are two women, because they do not need to adopt, and people also believe that it is women s natural goal to bring up a child. The debate over gay men adopting is fuelled by the media who often make people scared of the idea. Methodology =========== For this investigation I used a number of methods to create my report. When distributing my questionnaires I first used a pilot questionnaire to test my style of questions. From this study I found that some of my questions were badly worded or contained spelling mistakes. This turned out to be very helpful as a lot of my questions were very badly worded and could cause some confusion. When writing my questionnaire, I was careful not to include any questions that may cause offence to my interviewees. Why is this the case? To answer this question, some background information on the spread if Christianity itself is helpful. After the crucifixion and death of Jesus, many of his followers, such as the apostle Peter, went out throughout parts of Europe, Asia, and reportedly parts of Africa to spread the word about him. The Apostle Paul was perhaps the greatest these in his many missionary trips throughout Asia and Europe. In many cases, Spanish Conquistadors came in conquered native peoples, via superior weapons, or illnesses, and then proceeded to enforce their ways on life on them. Christianity in Latin America, much like Africa, would take root and spread throughout various countries. Although originally brought by force, Christianity in these two countries has flourished over the years, and in a way, has taken on an identity of its own apart from its past. As for Asia, Christianity was spread there earlier. As mentioned earlier, disciples and apostles of Jesus did arrive to some Asian countries and successfully established churches and converted some. However, as time went one, other religions in Asian countries such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and others took precedence. In many cases, Christianity was illegal. This came about mainly during the time of Communism in China and other places, but even in countries like Japan Christianity was forbidden by the emperor. While Christianity has had a turbulent time in Asia, and still does to this day, there are several missionaries reaching out to Asian countries, specifically China. While Christianity is illegal there and it is hard to tell just how many Chinese are Christian, there has been an increase in the efforts to spread Christianity throughout ... As technology progresses and our world continues to become more interconnected, an understanding of the worldГўs environmental crises is important and necessary for the well being of both humankind and the environment. As the authors point out: The national security analyst focuses more on the mid and short term, and, looking around, sees few conflicts in todayГўs world that are the result of environmental damage. The environmental analyst takes a longer view and asserts that todayГўs environmental damage nearly guarantees future conflict. The two communities are starting to come closer together because the accelerated pace of environmental damage has moved the security fallout from that damage from the long term to the mid and short term (Winnefeld 1994, p.1). In regards to the Middle East, it appears that much of the long standing conflict in the region is linked both directly and indirectly to water supplies. Since water is a vital part of life, it would make sense that this is a leading reason that political conflicts in the Middle East are old and seemingly intractable. The debate over water stems from two main sources, the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers, with all nations in the watershed equally involved in the conflicts regarding the management of these rivers (Winnefeld 1994). Contributing factors in the water related conflicts include issues regarding water quality, location of water sources, and location of water demand. In addition to regional ... • 26. Root Rot Caused By M. Phaseolina Root rot caused by M. phaseolina (a soil as well as seed borne fungus) is a devastating disease of mungbean and causes serious yield losses. The present study has demonstrated that the fungus induced severe root rot in mungbean cv. T 44 and exhibited significant decline in the plant growth and yield. This has verified that the tested mungbean cv. T 44 was susceptible to the rootrot fungus. Rotting of tap root and presence of few lateral roots is the characteristic symptom of the disease. Because of few lateral roots and root hairs, drying and withering of leaves occurs due to less water absorption. During the initial stages of pathogenesis, the fungal hyphae penetrates the root epidermis which is restricted to the intercellular spaces of the cortical tissues of the primary roots. Due to this, collapse of adjacent cells occurs and heavily infected plantlets may die. Afterwards at the onset of flower, the mycelium grow intracellularly through the xylem and plug the vessels [28, 29], produce toxins and several enzymes [30, 31], and thereby disrupt host cells. Inoculation with M. phaseolina decreased the growth and yield of mungbean by 32.1 45.5% and 36%, respectively. It reports the cruelty in which the SS soldiers used to mistreat the prisoners and in turn explains how the concentration camp life in the mind of the average prisoner affected. As soon as they reached the concentration camp, which in this case was Auschwitz, the prisoner was stripped of his personal belongings and identity documents. They identified the prisoners with a number. Then there was a first selection that for some would have a fatal destiny, crematoria and gas chambers. The forced labor of the prisoners sometimes had a reward in the form of a coupon. This coupon could be redeemed for a dozen cigarettes or a dozen servings of soup. Usually the vouchers were kept for the soup, but thanks to them you could tell when a prisoner lost the will to live and smoked their cigars to enjoy their last days of existence. The author divides life into the field into three phases. Phase one, The Shock. The symptom that characterizes this phase, according to Frankl, is the shock. • 38. Matthew s Gospel The Gospel of Matthew presents the promised Messiah, the immaculate Savior and King of the Jews. Matthew s Gospel has a clear purpose and is unique for its linkage of the New and Old Testament through Jesus Christ. Matthew shows ages of prophecy fulfilled through a single life span of one man s life. The fulfillment of the law is found in Christ and he recapitulates Israel in a condensed manner perfectly. The Gospel, also goes on to show the Israelites rejection of Christ as their Savior, their King and depicts a new gathering of people to Christ. Most Jews in the days of Jesus missed his coming. Unlike the other Gospels, Matthew stresses the royal and Jewish heritage of Jesus identity. Throughout his Gospel, Jesus is identified as the son of David or the son of Abraham. By doing this Matthew is establishing a link between the Old and New Testament and portraying Jesus as the fulfillment to all the Old Testament prophecies. Jesus displays his royal authority repetitively throughout Matthew s Gospel. Matthew 21:1 11 narrates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem; here Jesus expresses a prerogative of royalty. Jesus sends two disciples into the next town to retrieve a donkey and a colt; if they were asked by anyone who it was for, the disciples were to reply the Lord has need of them (v.2 3). The numerous causes of the war were rooted in the colonies demand for independence from Great Britain. Many believed that the colonies could function independently without Britain s aid; however, Britain s claim to the land was that the colonies were established to aid Britain and to do what best suited the mother country. This principle was illustrated in the outcome of the French and Indian war, that lasted from 1754 to 1763. During last battle fought by Shingen s son and alliance of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, Kurosawa emphasized on these four sign heavily and tried to parallel different armies action with the meaning of the signs. So we could actually feel the speed of the wind while Takeda Family s cavalry was moving. The rows on rows of cavalry bewitching the world with noble horsemanship, the brilliant ensigns in their primary colors representing the different noble houses, the incomparable swiftness of the warriors in their movements and their swordplay, the peremptory long distance shouts, the precision of the gunfire, the instantaneous obedience of the foot soldiers to their commanders: all bespeak the beauty, glory, and efficiency of an elegant warfare, even in defeat. Because the strong connection between these signs with the Takeda Family, while the Kagemusha found the flag with those 4 signs in the water we immediately understand Takeda Family was defeated totally with nothing left. • 46. Theme Of Empathy In The Cask Of Amontillado Remorse is a product of a deep regret which is brought upon by empathy, something in which the character Montresor in the story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe claims he does not possess, as he desires to commit the perfect revenge. This paper argues that the em dash used in the cask of amontillado signifies that Montresor feels remorse for his actions but rapidly recomposes himself, as the em dash allows him to blame his feelings on account of the dampness of the catacombs(pg.854). But, in doing so proves that perfect revenge is unattainable, and Montresor is left to pretend that he is unable to feel empathy. The em dash in this story suggests Montresor feels remorse but wills it away. But in doing so, proves that perfect revenge is nonexistent. No matter how deep the hatred may be for Fortunato, Montresor is only human and as such, his consciousness and empathy take control of him. This new found realization and remorse is quickly overcome, regaining his composure by stating his feelings occurred on account of the dampness of the catacombs (pg.854). Thus, the em dash displays how quickly the entire mood of a situation can change. Montresor was able to swiftly recover his composure and as a result it would seem as he had no feeling of remorse although, the opposite is true. His remorse is further shown when after 50 years he said [rest in peace] (pg.854). Montresor still has some remorse left in him even after this extended period thus his need to ask ... The country is constantly dealing with racism based conflict despite the ongoing efforts to end them. Dominant races are constantly bettering themselves at the cost of the underprivileged minority. To achieve a racefree society, we would have to eliminate the idea of race in general. Instead of there being various races we should all be unified as one race, the human race, and simply be Americans. In this country, we are constantly emphasizing the differences between the races. We are all forced to identify as one race or another when we should instead be focusing on equality and unity over the differences. To fully understand the extent to which racial differences play a role in American society, we must first understand the prominence of prejudice and discrimination against minorities in the country. According to Sensoy and DiAngelo, we use prejudice to place people into groups that make sense based on gender, age, economic standing, and appearance. We use stereotypes along with prejudice to generate an understanding of a person without truly knowing them. We then discriminate against members of this group based solely on what ideals we have created about them due to prejudices that are often instilled in us from birth (chapter 3). The Cry Of The Children The Cry Of The Children and The Art of Incitation Veering from the egocentric poems of the Romantic era, Victorian poets began to write poetry not only to express the feelings of an I, but also to inspire change in the collective we. Being from a historical period with a dramatic class divide, Victorian poets wrote with the intention of crafting beautiful lasting poetry as well as articulating a need for cultural reform in their now. One of the most renowned Victorian poets, Elizabeth Barrett Browning possessed the expert skill of integrating not only imagery and precise rhyme scheme into her poetry, but afflicting her readers with a sense of pity so paramount they had no choice but to make a change. After having read a government report exposing the heinous working conditions of child laborers in mines and factories, Browing began an impassioned campaign of awareness using her best medium of expression: the written word (Norton 421). Utilizing an uncomfortable and confrontational rhythm never before used by either her Romantic predecessors or Victorian contemporaries, Browning creates a vehement emotional plea in The Cry of The Children so powerful that it is credited with pushing the British parliament to pass new laws regulating child labor.
