Design Automation Of Integrated Circuits And Fpga
ECE 501 Home Work Assignment Instructor: Eric J. Balster. Student: Modukuri Sri Harsha
INTRODUCTION:
VHDL VHSIC HARDWARE DESCRIPTION LANGUAGE is a hardware description language
used in design automation to describe signals in integrated circuits and FPGA s. This is used to
write codes for the circuits and it is simulated. The test for the codes is done in the ALTERA. The
Simulation models are called as test bench. This Test bench is to verify the functionality of the...

In this we create a binary file that can program the DE2 board FPGA. Connect the power to board
and board to laptop through USB Blaster port. Here we finally test the design on FPGA.
Types of Execution: Here in this VHDLcoding there are two types of executions that are used in it.
Dataflow type and Behavioral type. The Dataflow is executed using the Boolean expressions and
the signals that are given as inputs and outputs. In Behavioral type processing of signals takes place
inside the statement. In this signals are simulated in sequential order.

Marching Band Research Paper
Why was I cursed with the passion to learn what was called the Universal language of the world.
My intentions with music arose from a young age in a middle school band when I was given a
trumpet after being rejected a saxophone. I was as good as a middle school musician. Even so,
my middle school band director chose me along with a few others to represent the school in a
regional 6th grade honor band. To be declared as outstanding (or as outstanding as a middle
schooler can be) musician was different enough that it sparked an obvious passion in me. My
older brother was a school year ahead of me and was also being recognized for his achievements in
band which allowed me to have a close incentive to be better. To get into Honor band after the...

When I entered High school it was a completely different experience. I used to play sports, why
was marching band so demanding of me? An immediate change was present in the level of
musicianship needed to be recognized above the others. My band director s name was Ms.
Mello but she was beyond mellow when she was judging our musical capabilities. She was a
great friend but would tear kids apart when it came to musicality or standing out of form in
marching band. Luckily for me, I was one of the few middle school musicians who practiced
somewhat in middle school. I was recognized as a great musician for a freshman in high school.
During the concert band season, there were two bands. The advanced group, the wind ensemble,
and the beginner group, the concert band. I admit that there was another freshman trumpet player
who made the Wind Ensemble when I did not even bother to audition. In the concert group, I
would advance far enough that the director trusted me to be the principal trumpet player, above the
older musicians in my section. When sophomore year came around, I earned first part for marching
band and I made my Wind

The Landlady By Toni Cade Bambara
The dictionary definition of setting is the place or type of surroundings where something is
positioned or where an event takes place. But setting is much more. Setting, also, affects the plot by
setting the mood and revealing information about characters. In the story The Landlady by Roald
Dahl and Geraldine Moore the Poet by Toni Cade Bambara, the setting is very important to the plot
and without the settings these stories would be impossible.
In The Landlady the setting affects the story by setting a mood and giving the plot a sense of
mystery. In the story there is a guest book with two names. Billy, the main character, feels like he
recognizes the names in the book. The landlady gives Billy some tea. The landlady talks about
one of the people who stayed and how much he loved to drink tea. Billy then says I suppose he
left fairly recently. Then the landlady says Left? But my dear boy, he never left. He s still here.
Mr. Temple is also here. They re on the fourth floor, both of them together. Even though the people

Without the setting of a run down neighborhood and the rough school life the story would have
been much more of a lighthearted story. In the story it says And the sun don t even shine on my
side of the street. No robins come sing on my window sill. Just the rain comes. This quote shows
the struggles she is facing from living in a poorer neighborhood. If Geraldine was living in a rich
neighborhood she would have not written the poem about her neighborhood and the plot would
have been very different. The story would not be the same and it would make little sense. The
setting also set the mood, if she had lived in a happier neighborhood the story would definitely been
different. Therefore the setting gives the story it s

Reed Erikson Summary
The article interested me because I didn t know that people identified as transgender as early as
the mid 1800s. The incidents at Cooper s Donuts and the Dewey Incident to me we sort of similar
because intersectionality placed a part in how some of the people were treated. I also learned that
most the activist during this era was nontransgendered men and transgendered women. Reed
Erikson was an important person in this movement because he was also transgender, and he funded
a lot of their causes. His funding was influential because this way he educated a lot of people that
were transgendered especially in a time period were being transgendered was taboo. Also in the
time that Erikson was doing his work others were organizing spaces for transgender

The Crime Scene Investigation Training
The Crime Scene Investigation Training Report includes a brief outline of two training modules:
Hair and Crime Scene Training Blood Crime Scene Training. These modules provide Crime Scene
Investigation trainees with the adequate information they need to prepare them to know what to
look for when looking for bloodand hair samples at a crime scene. This also instructs the trainee
the significance of how to avoid tampering with evidence and how to properly collect a sample.
The men and women trainees have classroom tutorials on the subject as well as a hands on
interactive tour of a real life crime scene and how to collect samples. These modules are helpful
to the trainees, because they provide the knowledge to identify and collect evidence at a real life
crime scene, supervised by experienced investigators Detective Gates and Morgan. The videos and
real life case trainings are necessary for the trainees to properly know how to handle evidence and
their surroundings during an investigation. Trainees need classroom as well as hands on training,
when learninghow to handle items on investigations. There are several important techniques in how
to properly and correctly handle evidence on an investigation. I will discuss the method, training
techniques and reason for the CSI training.

Gun Control Laws Limit Violent Crime
Founding Father Benjamin Franklin once said that, Those who can give up essential liberty to
obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. The great American republic
was founded on the principle of liberty for all. The Bill of Rights, which is a pillar of US
democracy, clearly stipulates that all citizens have the right to bear arms. It is senseless to sacrifice
this fundamental right for a false illusion of safety. We can reference previous periods of history in
which the government placed restrictions on products and examine how ineffective they were.
Furthermore, we can look at the absence of a correlation between strict gun control measures and
reducing violent crimerates in US states. It is time to ensure that our Constitution is upheld to
protect the ideals of American democracy. The proposal of restricting US citizens from purchasing
firearms is invalid because they are protected to do so under the Constitution, strict government
regulations on other harmful products have not been effective in the past, and the idea that gun
control laws limit violent crimeis a misconception.
As Americans and lovers of liberty, you must exercise your birthright and strike down any proposals
to restrict the right to bear arms. Restricting this right is tarnishing the Constitution, which is the
central element of American government. This is why the importance of upholding the Second
Amendment cannot be emphasized enough. It provides the final line of

Quality Time Redefined Analysis
In today s society with cell phones, television, internet, and social media, it is very difficult to stay
connected. Our ability to stay balanced in a society with technology exponentially improving will
benefit us when connecting to more things that are real and in the moment. The idea is not to
become completely disconnected with the tech space, but rather to connect and be involved with
life outside of technologyas well. The point is to become more involved with family and quality
time. Yes, we can still be connected with technology; however, if we take time to disconnect we
can understand what is really going on in our society. Technology is universal no matter where we
go, one use it every day if its traffic lights, bikes, phones, cars,... Show more content on

One just does whatever technology wants them to. For instance you have an iPhone 5 and it
perfectly fine, but just because the iPhone 6 comes out you have to get it. People are oblivious to
the negative effects of technology. Technology does has its benefits but look at the long term
effects: the human race is growing thoughtless with each generation because of the internet and not
have real connections with people. Andrews states, Most people have no idea how much
information is collected surreptitiously about them from social networks and other websites
(Andrews 713). With most sites that one has to make an account in, it usually asks for both first and
last name, email including a conformation within the email, sometimes credit card number, and
even sometimes your address. That right there is enough information to steal someone s identity.
People aren t realizing actually how much information the internet knows about them. The more
advanced we get in technology the lazier people become. More and more children would rather
stay inside and play video games than go outside to play. Our communication is getting to the point
where people barley have face to face conversations without being distracted by an electronic
device. According to Williams, Even before iPads, there was evidence that Web centric home life
might not, in fact, be eating away at family unity (Williams

Dbq World War 1 Analysis
As stated by Roosevelt, We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear and paranoia were only one
force adding pressure to Europe before it burst into full out war. Anyone with extensive knowledge
on The Great War could probably give a list of copious causations, among those being nationalistic
tendencies, the alliance system, paranoia, and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
World War Iwas primarily sparked through the assassination, with underlying tones of nationalism,
alliances, and paranoia fueling the fire. Nationalistic ego on part of Europeas a whole boiled
Ferdinand s assassination into action, pushing Europe into war. [Serbia] has done nothing to
suppress these[rebellious] movements (Doc 3). Austria Hungary had no compassion to the
thoughts of the Serbian citizens while they ruled over them, only thinking of more territory they
could dominate, and in turn, terrorist groups like The Black Hand, sprouted and eventually were
successful in their mission. However, Austria Hungary and Serbia were not alone in blame. The

Shaping American Identity Essay

US History, 3

American identity has been continuously changing over the past century. This is due to many
factors such as expansion, migration, and immigration. The migration of people has helped create
an American identity. During three periods of history, significant changes happened that helped
frame who Americans are. The colonization of the Americas has shaped the American identity in
many ways. When the first white English speaking colonists came over to settle in Jamestown,
their main goal was profit. This tradition of profit has carried on for centuries after. After
Jamestown, Protestant colonists came over, their main goals were to find religious freedom and
to spread the word of their god. Now, 53% of Americans are Protestant and missionary work is still
in effect today all over the Americas. Chattel slavery shaped the class system for the next
generations and contributed to the idea that America benefits off of other people s hard work. Not
only did colonization shape the American identity, but migration within the United Statesdid as
well. Religion is a major part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

America is a multilingual country with English being the base language. However, these
immigration states have also reiterated that America is still not accepting of non whites. As well as
the recent immigration stations, the great migration also greatly affected the American identity by
helping the belief that America is not accepting of non whites. They did this by creating racist laws
in the south which pushed African Americans north. Lastly, the issue of threatening to repeal
DACA and deport thousands of people who had no choice whether or not to come over illegally or

Role Of Religion In Australian Society
1.1Report
Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life. Buddha. Religion
is Australia has been there since the ages of the Dreamtime sixty five thousand years ago, changing
our lifestyles and influencing the ways many of us live our lives. Throughout Australian Society,
the role that religion plays in society has started fading significantly. Issues like pluralism and
secularism are threating the very existence of religion in Australia, yet religion will still maintain
their role in society, with their being a future for the Catholic Church in Australia because of the

According to Pope Francis during a speech at the Vatican during 2016, a simplified version of
the role of religion is to; It is firstly, to answer the complexity of the world to answer questions
that cannot be answered. Secondly, human beings seek purpose in their lives, and religion gives
many people that purpose. Finally, Religion provides assistance in making choices and
providing an ethical and moral framework, providing rules to live a good and just life (Brennan ,
What Pope Francis means for the Church in the modern world, 2013). The interviewee Michael
also believed in this definition and also believed that the role of a religion, Christian or not
should provide values and a way to express one self s beliefs, allowing yourself to become more
spiritually connected. Another major point he mentioned was; religion used to be a major
source of societal progression during the early days of Australia, however because of Generation
Y s turn away from organised religion and the increases in individualism, religion s role in
Australia, has started to fade, but there is hope for the future. However, without a doubt religion

Summary Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Zack and I met when I was four and he was seven. I was playing in my front yard when he rolled
down the street on his bike. He was a fairly scrawny boy with short dirty blond hair, and bright
green eyes. His teeth would have been perfectly straight if not for the massive gap his two front
teeth left when they freed themselves from his face. It was pretty obvious there was an age
difference between us, but he stopped anyway and introduced himself briefly then went about his
business patrolling the neighborhood on his little Superman bike. From that point on we saw each
other in passing but never really became good friends until one summer about two years later.
All the other neighborhood kids had left for the summer so we were the only two smaller kids still
around. We decided it would be fun if we went down to the usual hangout spot for all the children in
the neighborhood, the woods down behind the community swimming pool. The pool was catty
corner to my house, so I was just waiting in my front yard for Zach to walk the distance of the
two houses that separated my yard and his. We met up in front of the cherry tree in my side yard
then proceeded to walk down the street towards the pool. Along the length of the street was a
fenced in yard that inclosed six of the most obnoxious dogs that ever walked the face of the Earth.
Three of the dogs were small yappy little things, one of them was a midsize mut, and the last two
were fairly large jet black canines with a vendetta

Liturgical Dance In Modern Times
LAQUISHA WILLIAMS

RESEARCH PAPER
Liturgical Dance (Ancient Times to the Modern Times)
In the world that we live in today there are many things that has been passed down from year to
year. In the years such as 1400 and 1440 B.C. dancing in which we refer to now as liturgical
dancing was first introduced. Liturgical dance has as its purpose the deepening and focusing of the
worship experience; it is not merely ornamental or decorative. (Branigan). Liturgical dance is a
very uplifting form of art; starting from the biblical times and even up until now. The history of
liturgical dance begins in the Bible. The Bible doesn t mention much about dance. But, it does
mention dances of celebration during two important historical events. The first event was the
crossing of the Red Sea. Miriam, prophetess and sister of Moses brought together several women
in song and in praise after the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea (Exodus 15:20, 21). The
second event occurs when David brings back the arc of the covenant to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6).
Both major events showed the significance of praise dancing in rejoicing and thankfulness for what
the Lord have done, even for your triumphs. (DavenPort). Although the times has changed, the style
of liturgical dancing has changed in some ways, but has also remained the same in other ways.
There are many different attributes that allows this form of art to be so uplifting. The types of
attributes that causes this type of dance

Essay On Early Morning Prayer
On a snowy day, I went to the church for the first time with hand in hand with my grandmother
when I was a little girl. I walked with her along the country road to attend an early morning
prayer meeting. She used to pray for spiritual and physical health of my family. When I was a
little girl, not even knowing how to speak and how to read, I attended the prayer meeting with
her everyday regardless of the weather. This is the most precious memory of my early life.
Although my grandmother was over 70 years old and even she was not in good health, she did
not stop attending the prayer meeting. She sang hymns and read the Scripture everyday. She
lived a sincere Christian life until the day she went to the Heaven. I loved her reading the
Scripture for me. Further, it was so happy to hear stories how she had believed Jesus and lived
her Christian life. I used to take a nap listening to her telling the stories of the heroes in the Bible.
Whenever she knelt down for prayer, I followed her way of prayer. She was a mentor for my
Christian faith. As I grew up, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Media s Impact On Public Opinion
The media has always had a powerful impact on public opinion in Britain. With several different
types and means of communication, such as TV, newspapers, social networking and radio, it is
difficult for the public to not be even slightly impacted by the opinion of thousands that surrounds
them every day. However, with newspapers spinning stories to promote the party they favour
(such as the Daily Mail in favour of Conservatives or the Mirror in favour of Labour ) or to
disparage the opposition, is it clear there is any obvious influence from the media towards the
public in relation to reporting on British Politics?
Since January 2001, the total circulation of the UK s ten major national newspapers has declined .
It could be said that the press choose to slander politicians to gain attention from the public to push
sales, rather than inform the public on the real political issues at hand. For example, women s
magazines discuss political issues such as abortion and the tampon tax , rather than commercial
newspapers that publish stories such as scrutinizing politician Jeremy Corbyn for his subtle head
nod at the remembrance Sunday cenotaph. In a declining market for their product, newspaper titles
battle against each other for audiences and advertising revenue in their respective market segments,
while the press as a whole is engaged in competition with other media sectors, such as the news via
the internet, which makes it easier for the public to instantly engage with

Of Mice and Men the Relationship Between George and Lennie...
How does Steinbeck present the relationship between George and Lennie in this chapter? The
author John Steinbeck presents the relationship between the two characters, George and Lennie
in different ways as they are both different characters and have different personalities. He
presents it like a parent and child relationship, with George being the parent and Lennie the child.
As soon as the reader is introduced to George and Lennie Steinbeck tells us that, They had
walked in single file down the path . This immediately notifies the reader of the kind of
relationship between George and Lennie, it does this by stating single file . This reminds us of a
game called follow the leader. It also tells us that the person at the... Show more content on

I could also notice when I was reading through the first chapter that George has a sense of
authority over Lennie, you gonna get that wood . This is like a parent telling a child to do his
chores. On some occasions though George shows a bit of hatred towards Lennie, he thinks of
what he could have if Lennie wasn t around and contrasts that with George. There is also a sense
of lack of trust in the relationship between the two men. We see this through the predicament with
the work cards. It tells us that George again has to take care of Lennie, and that Lennie isn t
trusted by George. Again this idea is portrayed to the reader on page seventeen, we notice that
George knows that he needs a plan b as Lennie cannot be trusted so his plan b is to tell Lennie to
hide in the brush until I come for you . This helps us to understand the relationship even further.
George also treats Lennie like a dog in one occasion in the chapter, good boy . This is something
a master would say to a dog to encourage them, it also tells us the sort of role in the relationship
George has again.
In conclusion, we see that Steinbeck uses various techniques to portray the relationship between
George and Lennie. But the main method is the idea of George being like a parent to

How Does Meningitis Cause Homeostasis
Meningitis occurs when bacteria or viruses invade the bloodstream and infect the meninges. The
bacteria or viruses multiply rapidly and cause the meninges to inflame and swell. The brain is
subjected to an increase in pressure that can cause symptoms such as a headache and a stiff neck.
In the most severe cases, this can cause injury to the brain. Infection can also spread to the inner ear,
damaging the hair cells in the cochlea or causing inflammation of the auditory nerve, resulting in
sensorineural
(or nerve) deafness.
Some bacteria that cause meningitis can also cause septicaemia. Septicaemia is caused by bacteria

A Discourse Community Of The World Acts And Communicates...
Discourse communities are everywhere. Everywhere we and go and almost everything we do

unique discourse community in some way. Every discoursehas it s own distinct qualities and almost
all have a different way of communicating. These discourses are strong influences on all of our
personalities. The way every human in the world acts and communicates is influenced by one or
multiple discourse communities.

The gym was so confusing. Everyone had an odd lingo that I had never had any experience with.
They used certain words that I had never heard before. They dressed in revealing clothes. I was
unable to figure out the distinction between sets and reps, which it turned out that those two
words are the most utilized terms in weightlifting. I always heard words like lat, core, one rep
max, spot, lower, etc. It was comparable to learning a new language for me. But with time and
learning, I came to understand what was being said or asked in the gym environment. Seeing my
father go everyday and him being an authority figure, definitely inspired my love for weightlifting.
To this day I love the discourse community of weightlifting and consider myself an avid member
who plans to be a member until my body ceases to cooperate.
In weightlifting, there are certain ways to communicate and talk about lifting or what is being
done. Every exercise has a name that is commonly known among the discourse community, such as
dumbbell side raises, decline bench press, front lat pulldown, and those are just a few examples.
There are hundreds of terms for naming exercises. The most commonly used terms in weightlifting

George Orwell s Down And Out Essay
Ever since the 20th century, poverty exists in various of well developed countries, many
individuals live under no shelter and suffer starvation. Although having a job can support their
basics of living, working many hours also affect their health both mentally and physically. George
Orwell, the author of the novel, Down and Out in Paris and London, describes how homelessness
and poor working conditions can affect an individual by starving for a long period of time, having
no shelter, and working in harsh environment. Orwell illustrates a journey about a person who lives
in povertyin both contemporary countries, Paris and London in the 1930s. Where in Paris, he
graphically describes the poor working experiences as a plongeur, a lowest position behind the
kitchen of a high class French hotel, Hotel X. The narrator encounters many frustrations in handling
money causing him to suffer from starvationin Paris. As in London, Orwell acutely narrates the life
as a tramp, which looking for a place everyday becomes an issue for an individual because of the
vagrancy law in England. Due to the absurd law of England, it makes the narrator even more
difficult to live out of poverty in the novel. Orwell describes the life of a well educated individual
who has to live under poverty due to the minimum amount of opportunities in Paris and London in
1930 s. In comparison to the deleterious conditions as a homeless in Down and Out in Paris and

The Impact Of Social Media On Business Objectives
The use of social media to support business objectives is already a popular strategy among business
organizations, especially those that recognize social media has a useful tool for establishing and
maintaining profitable relations with the market. However, it is interesting to note that business
representations in traditional media, such as magazines, could be different from business
representations in the social media. Such differences in representation put emphasis on how the
features of social media impose certain requirements that businesses need to effectively satisfy, such
as the requirement on maintaining engaging communication with the target market. This report

In Vogue magazine, the reader is simply presented with text and images that directly come from the
company, based on what the company wants to show to the target customer. For example, Valentino
shows off its rights, such as handbags and sunglasses in ways that have been stylized and designed
based on the corporate ideals of the firm. The representations of the company in the social media are
similar because the company also provides images and textual information about its products. For
example, on Twitter, the company frequently shares images of its products, such as handbags and
dresses. However, the representations of the company on the social media are significantly different
from its representations in bold magazine. For example, in the social media, the company actually
uses considerable amounts of information coming from various sources. For example, on Twitter,
the company retweets information coming from other Twitter users. One could easily find
Valentino retweeting tweets from other users like MatchesFashion.com and Grazia_Live, and even

well worth the gamble as sales were well beyond projections. With gambling comes risk, risk

To not be overlooked is the power, wealth, and idolization status Beyonce has. To many other
artists this is a major risk, but for an established artist the risk was limited.
In the end I believe Columbia Records made one of the best decisions to support Beyonce for
this album. When Columbia signed for 50% of the costs and 50% of the revenue they clearly
knew that the revenue would outweigh the costs, and they were right. Although the risks were
there Columbia was willing to take them. With other artists signed like One Direction, J. Cole,
Adele, and The Script Columbia Records was also able to take on these risks. As I mentioned
earlier this deal set the stage for Columbia records to continue to work with Beyonce in the future
by showing they believed in her vision. This brought more business and attracted more artists to
sign with Columbia records. One thing I would have changed if I were apart of Columbia records
is the timing of the release dates for the digital and physical copy. I would have insisted on
releasing the digital copy on a Friday and then put the physical album out on a Monday. This
could allow retailers to play a role in the album process. The retailers virtually played no role for the
release of Beyonces album, because they refuse to put the album in stores. On the other side it
would give fans more of a choice on whether to purchase the digital or physical. Overall I think the
deal was well

Corruption Of Power In The Crucible
Life teaches one very valuable lesson: with power comes the abuse of power, which results in
hysteria and fear. Fear comes in many forms; fear for loved ones, fear for health, fear of losing
reputation and fear of reprisal. Throughout history, a powerful few have abused their power. An
example of this dilemma occurred in the 1950 s when Senator Joseph McCarthystarted accusing
innocent people of being communist sympathizers. Contemporary author, Arthur Miller, visited this
concept of corrupt power and disapproval of McCarthyismin his classic, The Crucible. Good Night
and Good Luck, a movie which was about the hysteria McCarthy caused to innocent lives, and
The Crucible have one major thing in common: the corruption of power. This thematic idea
reveals that the corruption of power can not only affect and impair mainstream society, but also
the people which live within it. To have corrupt power, power must be gained. People often gain
this power by manipulating others. Corrupt power is not used to benefit society, but rather for
personal game and gain. Senator Joseph McCarthy and Abigail Williams obtain many of the same
qualities to gain this power. McCarthy accused many innocent people for something they did not
have a part in, while Abigail did the same by accusing people of witchcraft. When Abigail is being
questioned about her accusations being true, she furiously replies by saying I have been hurt, Mr.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Analysis
In Gina Wisker s article Vampires and School Girls: High School Jinks on the Hellmouth , she
makes the point that Buffy is a new kind of women within vampire fictions. She supports this
point by showing how Buffy is not a stereotypical helpless woman in a vampire film; Buffy is a
strong independent woman who kills vampires and other creatures. While Wisker makes a very
strong argument, this idea of a new kind of women could be extended to Willow and a new kind of
men shown in Xander and Giles.

in monster films. She was kidnapped and did not know how to defend herself, but throughout the
rest of the show Willow develops as a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated earlier, men are normally the hero s but Xander represents a new kind of man. The
dynamic of the man being the hero is flipped once again; Xander is a man that acts as a side kick
to the main hero, who is a female. Xander tries his best to help Buffy throughout the film but he
since he does not have any supernatural powers, like Buffy and Willow, there is not much he
can do. Even though he does not have powers, this does not mean that he is weak. The most
important part about Xander is that he sees beyond the supernatural and stays strong and
supportive throughout the series. Xander keeps his hopes in the hardest situation and keeps the
group tougher and positive. He will even sacrifice himself in order to keep the people he loves
safe. He continuously fixes things for the group, and later on he goes on to cotinine his education
and get a job as a carpenter. Xander represents a kind of man that may not take all the spot light
but is still strong, level headed and the heart of the group. Possibly the best thing about Xander is
that fact that he is normal. By just staying true who he is he helps his friends and saves the world,
more than once.
Another kind of man in Buffy the Vampire Slayer , is portrayed by Giles. Giles is a watcher
assigned to watch and teach Buffy how to become a slayer. He helps to teach Buffy and get her

Analysis Of The Poem Of Departures By Philip Larkin
Often times we hear people say, Whenever I _____, I m going to leave this town and go
somewhere new . In fact, sometimes we are the ones saying this. This promise is especially heard
in high school, when students discuss their college plans. But how many people actually end up
leaving the state they live in? How many dare to venture out to different states and countries far
away from home? In Poetryof Departures, Philip Larkin(the poet) states that there are only two
types of people those who leave, and those who stay. From the very start of this poem, he
declares We all hate home And having to be there.. . Most people would say that this is a false
statement; not all of us hate home.On the contrary, most of us have been the ones saying that we
are anxious to leave. So from the beginning, the poet has us questioning if we truly do hate home
enough to leave it. Next, he makes a personal statement, I detest my room...And my life, in
perfect order.. . Here, Larkin sounds ungrateful and unsatisfied with the simple luxuries he has,
which are things we often take for granted. The sudden use of negativity in the first stanza is
very important. He could have said I have good books, a good bed, and a nice house, but I am
unhappy , however, this would lead the reader into believing that he is unhappy despite having
these things. But because he makes it clear that he is unhappy before he lists all of the good
things he has, it gives off the impression that he is unhappy because of these things, which is
Larkin s intention. In the next stanza, he starts to compare his life to other s. He mentions how
he heard that one man walked out on the whole crowd , and this leaves him feeling
uncomfortable. It is not normal for someone to go against the majority, and Larkin acknowledges
that. However, the author later says Surely I can, if he did? . Now we know that the anxious
feeling Larkin had was actually restlessness, and maybe jealousy too. He wants to defy the norm,
and do things his own way, yet something is holding him back. He knows that he could do it if he
tried, but he fails to take action. Perhaps, just the reassuring thought of I am capable of doing my
own thingis enough for him; just like how we

Dangers Of Environmental Pollution
For many years scientists, along with concerned patrons, have been contemplating climate change
and what dangers it presents to human kind. Climate change refers to the variation in normal
weather patterns caused due to pollution. Environmental pollution refers to the contamination of
ecosystem and the surrounding atmosphere by different forms of pollutants (Chemicals and
energies) (omcis.org). Environmental pollutionand climate is becoming a more substantial concern
worldwide as the years go on. Numerous studies have been ran throughout the years showing
statistical reasoning behind the environmental changes. Environmentalists debate about what the
leading cause is and what we are able to do to stop such turmoil.
The threat of global climate change has been a cloud of smog, lingering for quite some time.
Global warming is the increase of earth s normal surface temperature due to impact of greenhouse
gases (omics.org). We are threatening our own kind with our reckless lifestyle towards our
environment. As the world urbanizes and industrializes, and as effects of climate change intensify,
environmental crises will increasingly devastate the lives, health, and livelihoods of people around

of digital technology and its effect on society. Artificial Intelligence has come a long way since
it started, and will keep prospering as the digital age keeps innovating. Which relates to Moore s

how I can apply it to my personal life. Programs, and the digital age will continue to develop, and

tools and resources the digital age have given me in order to be successful in my future career. I
have to keep up to date with the new software, and opportunities that technology brings, because
even if you do not make use of them, they will not stop evolving. As Friedman concludes in the
book, times change faster than we realize, and that is why we as individuals and nations have to
adapt by being innovative, open to change, and taking a moment to shut out the rest of the

their growth, emotions, and aspirations. As Noam Chomsky once said, Humanity is made up of

and the character s nature are associated with a theme. As a result, Figes uses grief and childhood

Laying back down in bed she then begins to observe the leafy hinged panels and a clear light

Lily is attracted to a pond full of water lilies: The aquatic plants then began to unbolt, layer after

ordered to detect pneumonia. To further confirm the SARS virus, many standard and advanced
laboratory tests can be conducted. The standard blood tests include: arterial blood tests, blood

Capgras Syndrome Research Paper
Capgras Syndrome, also known as Capgras Delusion, is a neuropsychological condition or
illogical belief in which an individual holds a belief that a familiar person or place such as a
friend, spouse, family member or even pets, have been replaced with an exact duplicate. In 1923,
Joseph Capgras, a French psychiatrist, had discovered this delusionand have seen that this disorder
is associated with people who have schizophreniaor bipolar disorder and often people who have a
brain injury or disease (Bier).
Capgras syndrome is usually followed after brain damage such as a stroke, drug overdose, and
many other causes typically on the right side of the brain. It s the lost of connection between the
visual face recognition area in the right temporal lobe and the areas of the brain that provides the
emotional response to the face. Capgras syndrome is often times confused with prosopagnosia, an
impairment in the recognition of faces, this however, is not the same thing. (Prosopagnosia, 2016,
July 1) Most of the time people with prosopagnosia can see the same face many times, but still can

What would it be like to be in their position and the amount of feelings they might be having.
Correcting or arguing with an individual would just lead up to more misguided information and
confusion, and confusion is just disease at work (Bier). Although, acknowledging them
emotionally is a great way to calm them down and connecting to them through their ears and sound
only because their eyes would be deceiving them. Capgras syndrome would be classified into
syndromes like Bipolar disorders and other delusions. As of right now, there is no prescribed
treatment available for the Capgras syndrome. This disorder can only be controlled by
sympathizing with the patient. Medication can also be prescribed to help hallucination, although,
this hasn t been a confirmed

Bio Power Foucault Analysis
Bio power focuses on the individual and collective aspects of the human life, such as health,
fertility, race, and sex. Bio power also focuses on these different systems of oppression to
manipulate and/or discipline docile bodies in order to occupy the same status and space in
society. The Virtual Speculum in the New Order by Donna J. Haraway and the Right of Death
and Power over Life by Michel Foucault are two good articles where the concept of bio power
has been explored in two different areas. Haraway focuses on women s choices when it comes to
health and technology. She shared the idea that women think they have the autonomy to make
choices when it comes to the fetus the reality is that women s bodies are being disciplined by...

A perfect example is the Maquilapolis documentary, which reveals the exploitation of Mexican
women. They continued to be treated as objects in industries, essentially forced into labour with
the purpose of making more money. The idea discipline was best captured in the moment where
all of the women mimicked the different movements that they have to do during their work day
how they were observed by others who would complete the job was the most telling. Even
though all of these women were making their voices heard, their bodies were still being
disciplined to work for these companies. The main reason these women stay is because they are
single mothers that sadly do not have other job opportunities. They have a lower economic status
due to their class and cannot leave. Although they receive some benefit is it minimal it keeps
them in the industry. It s a cycle that really only benefits the different capitalist industries. In order
to discipline these bodies, specific knowledge is produced for the purpose of controlling their
choices to profit from their work. As it was showed in the documentary, women are being lied to by
these companies that promise them a secure and safe environment to work in. The documentary is
not dated, but it is clear that these issues are happening in many countries where bodies

Bruno Bettelheim s Fairy Tale Insight Essay
The birth of fairy tales is many times unknown, but their reputations have always remained the
same. These tales not only attract children with their wondrous lands and magical charm, but they
captivate the child by involving relatable characters with recognizable problems. While these
stories provide mind churning imagination, the lesson they provide does not cease to exist when
the book is closed.
Bruno Bettelheim, the author of Uses of Enchantment, has constructed an evaluation that fairy tale s
offer insight to the child s psychological life. He believes such literature depicts underline meaning
to ways in which the child develops and deals with real life conflicts. Undertaking such a strong
controversial topic for the first time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this statement s broadness, it remains true for the sole fact that children do not have much
comprehensible knowledge of most subjects at an adolescent age. Bettelheim implies his words
though, as if children have understanding of many things, but fairy tales being the most intelligible
to them. Bettelheim also makes unexplainable assumptions about the psyche of a child. He
compares their mind more to the developed adult who knows how to cope with struggles of
society rather than viewing the child as the undeveloped innocent mind that it is. Fairy tales are
harmless to a child while it may regress an adult. Bettelheim fails to recognize the gap of minds
(95). He also falls short of realizing that even though he is trying to defend the child and the way
their mind works, Bettelheim still thinks and reacts like an adult and cannot place himself in the
child s thinking position but only observe them.
Another aid in the justification that children may not always find an emphasized meaning to a
fairy tale is the idea that children begin in a largely animistic world and only slowly learn the art
of abstract thinking (95). The fact that the books offer more than just a beginning, middle, and end
solution to a story for children has been disregarded. Rarely are children attentive to the story
itself, but more intrigued with the illustrations and voice of the story teller. Books are generally
read to children before bedtime to calm them and offer a time to

Animals Should Not Be Treated
Animals forced to live in farm factories being used to produce food are mistreated on the daily
basis. Forced to eat foods that are harmful for them, they are also forced to live in tight housing
conductions where they are sometimes unable to stand or move around forced to be in one spot
which cause them to have sours under there bodies from not moving. These animals keeps under
this conditions live under a lot of street from seeing there young being taken away from them or
maybe how some chicken farmers don t allow there animals to see sunlight which put stress on the
animals. Humans do these things to animals because they only think of the benefit for them but
most people don t see the harm that is done to these animals and also the harm that is done to the
environment. Do these things to these animals is not right and we as humans don t have the right
to treat another living thing this way all living things should be treated with respect regardless of
what it maybe, I know that all living things can be treated like humans but we should at least insure
that all living things pain and stress should be kept to a minimum and should be eased when it can
whenever possible. The waste that is produced in farm factories by the animals is harmful to the
environment. In the United States alone farm animals generate more than 1 million tons of manure
per day, three times the amount generated by the country human population. All the waste that is
produced by these factory farms

Human Genome Project Paper
The Human Genome Project is a very well known scientific research project made to determine the
sequencing of chemical base pairs which make up human DNA. The Human Genome Project is
also made to identify and map all of the human genes from both physical and functional parts. But
how does this really affect us?
The Human Genome Project has aimed to provide us with detailed information about the Human
Genome. This will be extremely effective towards studying people with specific diseases such as
heart disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension and cystic fibrosis. The DNA sequences of any two
people are actually very alike. The little difference is those that cause a high risk of an individual

simply because no one knows how a single gene change can affect humans. Clearly, if used correctly
The Human Genome Project can become a beneficial factor in curing life threatening diseases. The
information from genetic tests, provided by the scientific community, will be shared with the public
and medical communities. By sharing the information, it helps doctors save lives of patients.
However, sometimes scientists still remain unsure on how to interpret the results of tests. Many
agreements were made during the project, resulting in the publication of scientists findings. By

Topcrest and Merbatty also have a longstanding relationship and is easier to maintain than to build
new relationships with new suppliers. The favourable relationship also provide good grounds that
Topcrest will honour their promise of no late deliveries in the future. Merbatty can also appoint a
backup hull supplier should Topcrest not honour their promise of any further late deliveries and
thus minimise the risk of a similar incident happening in the future.
3.2 Building and manufacturing of racing boat priority 2
This project is ranked second as the possibility of investing in the speedboat with no guarantee of
success can lead to massive losses. The possibility of the raceboat being a failure can result in bad
publicity for Merbatty.
The new marketing director, Jesper, is keen to develop a speedboat and compete in the global
speedboat race as a marketing strategy. Jesper wants to race for a period of 2 years with the
possibility of manufacturing its own range of speedboats should the racing be successful. Jesper is
of opinion that this can also lead to an increase in sales of the P 3000 performance

John Lewis Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC
John Lewis was one of the most notably influential leaders of the Student Nonviolent
Coordinating Committee, SNCC. SNCC was founded in the 1960s in Releigh, North Carolina
and initially consisted of black students as its members (Murphree 2006:11). The first members
of this organization made use of nonviolent ways of protests such as sitting in and occupation of
certain public places. The organization was successful in making other people aware of the
injustices that black people were usually exposed to. Moreover, SNCC supported more nonviolent
protests such as the Freedom Rides in 1961 and the March on Washington in 1963 which paved
the way for the amendment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. John Lewis was born on February 21,

member of the House of Representatives. In 2006 and 2009, together with 6 other lawmakers,
Lewis was arrested outside the Sudan embassy for holding a protest against the genocide

Andrew Carnegie and the Rise of Big Business
Andrew Carnegie was the pioneering tycoon of the 19th century. From his companies emerged the
steel to build the infrastructures such as railroads, bridges, automobiles, and ships that would build
a nation in need of direction. He was a major player in the transformation into the Industrial
Revolution producing the steel to make machinery and transportation possible. Carnegie built his
empire from cost control, low prices, low profits, and high volume to make himself the richest man
in the world. In his philanthropic stage of life, he became the world s beneficiary to education, as

The next investment Carnegie joined was with William Coleman in the oil business. They made a
substantial amount of money but Carnegie grew tired of the messy and chaotic state of the
business and sold out in 1865. In 1862 Carnegie joined a number of Pennsylvania Railroad
managers to start the Keystone Bridge Company. Carnegie had been convinced that the trend in
railroading was towards heavier locomotives and cars and longer trains in order to increase
productivity. This is where many of the old wooden bridges were converted into sturdier, iron and
steel bridges. Carnegie quit the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1865 both to concentrate on the bridge
business and to pursue investments.
Iron Business:
Carnegie made his first investment in iron in 1861 when he invested in a local iron company.
Carnegie and three partners later founded the Cyclops Iron Works in Pittsburgh in October of
1864. Right away Carnegie introduced a new method to the iron industry. Carnegie s aim was to
ensure a reliable and cheap supply of iron beams and plates. He was able to control all aspects of
the iron business and create an almost monopoly. This way of business was also called vertical
integration. His training on the Pennsylvania railroad proved crucial. With the high fixed costs of
railroading, to make money it was essential to have a good cost accounting system. Once the costs
were known, Carnegie would speed the flow of traffic through the

Zoosadism, Animal can be abused by how you treat them, but what has that animal ever did to

person who would worry about their pets that they can also get abused, Whenever you look at an
animal s eyes would you ever think that they have feelings that they to also suffer as you do.
Everyone has feelings same as animals just to look at their face or eyes you would know about
how they feel, Animals can feel pain and suffer just as humans can but since sociopaths have a
general inability to empathise, they are able to inflict pain and urgency on sentient beings with
no feelings of remorse the increasing probability that cruelty to humans is the next step. The
quote that stands out is (This is a personal issue for me since my ex husband is a medically

you treat them and would not want to be around you, A dogcan bleed, be choked, happy, upset, all

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Appeal By Stephan H. Browne
The rhetorical analysis of the Appeal by Stephan H. Browne gives further insight about
perfectibilism in the document. In the third chapter of Rhetoric Public Affairs: Angelina Grimke:
Rhetoric, Identity, and the Radical Imagination, Browne contends that Angelina Grimke employed
a rhetorical strategy for the reimagining of community and reconceiving of past, to encourage
acceptance for her abolitionist vision of the future. In the Appeal, Angelina focused toward her
audience of southern Christian women and seeks to use that understanding to connect with them
and contend that the abolitionist cause cares for them. She also uses her analysis of biblical
matters to reinterpret the meaning of the bible and its significance to these women and their time.
The bible is thus contended to be a basis for condemning and opposing slavery, and that by their
status, of them as Christian women in the context of Southern plantation society, they should work
to oppose it. This is followed by a prescription of action tailored to both the audience s religious
tendencies, and to the possible actions they may take in the context of their social status.
This portrayal of the Appeal s rhetoric suggests a form of perfectibilism in the interpretation of the
past and community basis. Rather than merely calling out problems in the past about how
American and particularly southern society has engaged in slavery, it works to change the basis of
historical community for her audience. The bible is

Compare The Ways Gone And A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah
In the memoir, A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, and the film The Inevitable Defeat of Mister
and Pete, there is a lot to do with poverty, loss of family and independence. Only in different
ways. Ishmael is on his own and has to find his own food, water and shelter along with a few
friends. The boys are all young but were thrown into the real world very quickly and
unexpectedly. Mister and Pete have their mothers, but it does not matter as of the mothers do not
seem to care for their children as much as they should. Mister and Pete come home to rarely any
food at all, no money and are scared of one day, no shelter. Mister has to take charge in his home
as a result of his motherbeing a drug addict and does not try to help, just like Ishmael had to be
his own person by reason of the believed loss of his family. In the film, police came to search the
apartment. Mister and Pete hid as they do not want to depart to Riverview, the children s home.
Every day, the two boys are avoiding the police or running from them. They must buy their own
food, take care of their home and one another. Mister steps up and tries his best to provide and
care for Pete, although being thirteen years of age, he cannot yet acquire a job. In the memoir,
Ishmael and his friends are driven to do everything they can to avoid the rebels or they could be in
danger, possibly killed. They end up only going out at night so that they will not get seen as easy
and be as quiet as possible. Ishmael is a leader,

Types of Execution: Here in this VHDLcoding there are two types of executions that are used in it. Dataflow type and Behavioral type. The Dataflow is executed using the Boolean expressions and the signals that are given as inputs and outputs. In Behavioral type processing of signals takes place inside the statement. In this signals are simulated in sequential order. • 4. Marching Band Research Paper Why was I cursed with the passion to learn what was called the Universal language of the world. My intentions with music arose from a young age in a middle school band when I was given a trumpet after being rejected a saxophone. I was as good as a middle school musician. Even so, my middle school band director chose me along with a few others to represent the school in a regional 6th grade honor band. To be declared as outstanding (or as outstanding as a middle schooler can be) musician was different enough that it sparked an obvious passion in me. My older brother was a school year ahead of me and was also being recognized for his achievements in band which allowed me to have a close incentive to be better. To get into Honor band after the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I entered High school it was a completely different experience. I used to play sports, why was marching band so demanding of me? An immediate change was present in the level of musicianship needed to be recognized above the others. My band director s name was Ms. Mello but she was beyond mellow when she was judging our musical capabilities. She was a great friend but would tear kids apart when it came to musicality or standing out of form in marching band. Luckily for me, I was one of the few middle school musicians who practiced somewhat in middle school. I was recognized as a great musician for a freshman in high school. During the concert band season, there were two bands. The advanced group, the wind ensemble, and the beginner group, the concert band. I admit that there was another freshman trumpet player who made the Wind Ensemble when I did not even bother to audition. In the concert group, I would advance far enough that the director trusted me to be the principal trumpet player, above the older musicians in my section. When sophomore year came around, I earned first part for marching band and I made my Wind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Landlady By Toni Cade Bambara The dictionary definition of setting is the place or type of surroundings where something is positioned or where an event takes place. But setting is much more. Setting, also, affects the plot by setting the mood and revealing information about characters. In the story The Landlady by Roald Dahl and Geraldine Moore the Poet by Toni Cade Bambara, the setting is very important to the plot and without the settings these stories would be impossible. In The Landlady the setting affects the story by setting a mood and giving the plot a sense of mystery. In the story there is a guest book with two names. Billy, the main character, feels like he recognizes the names in the book. The landlady gives Billy some tea. The landlady talks about one of the people who stayed and how much he loved to drink tea. Billy then says I suppose he left fairly recently. Then the landlady says Left? But my dear boy, he never left. He s still here. Mr. Temple is also here. They re on the fourth floor, both of them together. Even though the people checked in years ago. The text shows that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without the setting of a run down neighborhood and the rough school life the story would have been much more of a lighthearted story. In the story it says And the sun don t even shine on my side of the street. No robins come sing on my window sill. Just the rain comes. This quote shows the struggles she is facing from living in a poorer neighborhood. If Geraldine was living in a rich neighborhood she would have not written the poem about her neighborhood and the plot would have been very different. The story would not be the same and it would make little sense. The setting also set the mood, if she had lived in a happier neighborhood the story would definitely been different. Therefore the setting gives the story it s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bees are dying off, over the past few years the bee population has decreased which means some of our very beloved products have either increased in price or may be hard to find. We as humans that have so much control over this planet should help the beesso they can help us. Honeybees are an essential part of humanity. Bees they come in all different types, sizes, colors, and shapes. Some bees are furry all over like miniature flying teddy bears , while others have smooth and shiny polished metallic bodies and legs that glisten in colors of green, blue, and copper. Some are larger than the world s smallest hummingbird. While the tiniest are smaller than fruit flies, tiny specs with four wings, most do not make honey and wax or live together in nests as family groups headed by a queen (Buchmann). • 7. Reed Erikson Summary The article interested me because I didn t know that people identified as transgender as early as the mid 1800s. The incidents at Cooper s Donuts and the Dewey Incident to me we sort of similar because intersectionality placed a part in how some of the people were treated. I also learned that most the activist during this era was nontransgendered men and transgendered women. Reed Erikson was an important person in this movement because he was also transgender, and he funded a lot of their causes. His funding was influential because this way he educated a lot of people that were transgendered especially in a time period were being transgendered was taboo. • 8. The Crime Scene Investigation Training The Crime Scene Investigation Training Report includes a brief outline of two training modules: Hair and Crime Scene Training Blood Crime Scene Training. These modules provide Crime Scene Investigation trainees with the adequate information they need to prepare them to know what to look for when looking for bloodand hair samples at a crime scene. This also instructs the trainee the significance of how to avoid tampering with evidence and how to properly collect a sample. The men and women trainees have classroom tutorials on the subject as well as a hands on interactive tour of a real life crime scene and how to collect samples. These modules are helpful to the trainees, because they provide the knowledge to identify and collect evidence at a real life crime scene, supervised by experienced investigators Detective Gates and Morgan. The videos and real life case trainings are necessary for the trainees to properly know how to handle evidence and their surroundings during an investigation. • 9. Gun Control Laws Limit Violent Crime Founding Father Benjamin Franklin once said that, Those who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. The great American republic was founded on the principle of liberty for all. The Bill of Rights, which is a pillar of US democracy, clearly stipulates that all citizens have the right to bear arms. It is senseless to sacrifice this fundamental right for a false illusion of safety. We can reference previous periods of history in which the government placed restrictions on products and examine how ineffective they were. Furthermore, we can look at the absence of a correlation between strict gun control measures and reducing violent crimerates in US states. It is time to ensure that our Constitution is upheld to protect the ideals of American democracy. The proposal of restricting US citizens from purchasing firearms is invalid because they are protected to do so under the Constitution, strict government regulations on other harmful products have not been effective in the past, and the idea that gun control laws limit violent crimeis a misconception. As Americans and lovers of liberty, you must exercise your birthright and strike down any proposals to restrict the right to bear arms. Restricting this right is tarnishing the Constitution, which is the central element of American government. This is why the importance of upholding the Second Amendment cannot be emphasized enough. It provides the final line of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Quality Time Redefined Analysis In today s society with cell phones, television, internet, and social media, it is very difficult to stay connected. Our ability to stay balanced in a society with technology exponentially improving will benefit us when connecting to more things that are real and in the moment. The idea is not to become completely disconnected with the tech space, but rather to connect and be involved with life outside of technologyas well. The point is to become more involved with family and quality time. Yes, we can still be connected with technology; however, if we take time to disconnect we can understand what is really going on in our society. Technology is universal no matter where we go, one use it every day if its traffic lights, bikes, phones, cars,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One just does whatever technology wants them to. For instance you have an iPhone 5 and it perfectly fine, but just because the iPhone 6 comes out you have to get it. People are oblivious to the negative effects of technology. Technology does has its benefits but look at the long term effects: the human race is growing thoughtless with each generation because of the internet and not have real connections with people. Andrews states, Most people have no idea how much information is collected surreptitiously about them from social networks and other websites (Andrews 713). With most sites that one has to make an account in, it usually asks for both first and last name, email including a conformation within the email, sometimes credit card number, and even sometimes your address. That right there is enough information to steal someone s identity. People aren t realizing actually how much information the internet knows about them. The more advanced we get in technology the lazier people become. More and more children would rather stay inside and play video games than go outside to play. Our communication is getting to the point where people barley have face to face conversations without being distracted by an electronic device. According to Williams, Even before iPads, there was evidence that Web centric home life might not, in fact, be eating away at family unity (Williams ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Dbq World War 1 Analysis As stated by Roosevelt, We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear and paranoia were only one force adding pressure to Europe before it burst into full out war. Anyone with extensive knowledge on The Great War could probably give a list of copious causations, among those being nationalistic tendencies, the alliance system, paranoia, and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. World War Iwas primarily sparked through the assassination, with underlying tones of nationalism, alliances, and paranoia fueling the fire. Nationalistic ego on part of Europeas a whole boiled Ferdinand s assassination into action, pushing Europe into war. [Serbia] has done nothing to suppress these[rebellious] movements (Doc 3). Austria Hungary had no compassion to the thoughts of the Serbian citizens while they ruled over them, only thinking of more territory they could dominate, and in turn, terrorist groups like The Black Hand, sprouted and eventually were successful in their mission. However, Austria Hungary and Serbia were not alone in blame. The entirety of Europe were imperializing areas in Africa, Asia, and North America. Of course, after Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia through their treasonous actions, both sides kept bringing country after country into the conflict. • 12. Shaping American Identity Essay Ayah Gleisner Stearns US History, 3 10 15 17 American identity has been continuously changing over the past century. This is due to many factors such as expansion, migration, and immigration. The migration of people has helped create an American identity. During three periods of history, significant changes happened that helped frame who Americans are. The colonization of the Americas has shaped the American identity in many ways. When the first white English speaking colonists came over to settle in Jamestown, their main goal was profit. This tradition of profit has carried on for centuries after. After Jamestown, Protestant colonists came over, their main goals were to find religious freedom and to spread the word of their god. Now, 53% of Americans are Protestant and missionary work is still in effect today all over the Americas. According to Pope Francis during a speech at the Vatican during 2016, a simplified version of the role of religion is to; It is firstly, to answer the complexity of the world to answer questions that cannot be answered. Secondly, human beings seek purpose in their lives, and religion gives many people that purpose. Finally, Religion provides assistance in making choices and providing an ethical and moral framework, providing rules to live a good and just life (Brennan , What Pope Francis means for the Church in the modern world, 2013). The interviewee Michael also believed in this definition and also believed that the role of a religion, Christian or not should provide values and a way to express one self s beliefs, allowing yourself to become more spiritually connected. Another major point he mentioned was; religion used to be a major source of societal progression during the early days of Australia, however because of Generation Y s turn away from organised religion and the increases in individualism, religion s role in Australia, has started to fade, but there is hope for the future. • 17. Summary Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald Zack and I met when I was four and he was seven. I was playing in my front yard when he rolled down the street on his bike. He was a fairly scrawny boy with short dirty blond hair, and bright green eyes. His teeth would have been perfectly straight if not for the massive gap his two front teeth left when they freed themselves from his face. It was pretty obvious there was an age difference between us, but he stopped anyway and introduced himself briefly then went about his business patrolling the neighborhood on his little Superman bike. From that point on we saw each other in passing but never really became good friends until one summer about two years later. All the other neighborhood kids had left for the summer so we were the only two smaller kids still around. We decided it would be fun if we went down to the usual hangout spot for all the children in the neighborhood, the woods down behind the community swimming pool. The pool was catty corner to my house, so I was just waiting in my front yard for Zach to walk the distance of the two houses that separated my yard and his. We met up in front of the cherry tree in my side yard then proceeded to walk down the street towards the pool. Along the length of the street was a fenced in yard that inclosed six of the most obnoxious dogs that ever walked the face of the Earth. FOWLER RESEARCH PAPER Liturgical Dance (Ancient Times to the Modern Times) In the world that we live in today there are many things that has been passed down from year to year. In the years such as 1400 and 1440 B.C. dancing in which we refer to now as liturgical dancing was first introduced. Liturgical dance has as its purpose the deepening and focusing of the worship experience; it is not merely ornamental or decorative. (Branigan). Liturgical dance is a very uplifting form of art; starting from the biblical times and even up until now. The history of liturgical dance begins in the Bible. The Bible doesn t mention much about dance. But, it does mention dances of celebration during two important historical events. The first event was the crossing of the Red Sea. Miriam, prophetess and sister of Moses brought together several women in song and in praise after the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea (Exodus 15:20, 21). The second event occurs when David brings back the arc of the covenant to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6). Both major events showed the significance of praise dancing in rejoicing and thankfulness for what the Lord have done, even for your triumphs. (DavenPort). Although the times has changed, the style of liturgical dancing has changed in some ways, but has also remained the same in other ways. There are many different attributes that allows this form of art to be so uplifting. The types of attributes that causes this type of dance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Media s Impact On Public Opinion The media has always had a powerful impact on public opinion in Britain. With several different types and means of communication, such as TV, newspapers, social networking and radio, it is difficult for the public to not be even slightly impacted by the opinion of thousands that surrounds them every day. However, with newspapers spinning stories to promote the party they favour (such as the Daily Mail in favour of Conservatives or the Mirror in favour of Labour ) or to disparage the opposition, is it clear there is any obvious influence from the media towards the public in relation to reporting on British Politics? Since January 2001, the total circulation of the UK s ten major national newspapers has declined . It could be said that the press choose to slander politicians to gain attention from the public to push sales, rather than inform the public on the real political issues at hand. For example, women s magazines discuss political issues such as abortion and the tampon tax , rather than commercial newspapers that publish stories such as scrutinizing politician Jeremy Corbyn for his subtle head nod at the remembrance Sunday cenotaph. In a declining market for their product, newspaper titles battle against each other for audiences and advertising revenue in their respective market segments, while the press as a whole is engaged in competition with other media sectors, such as the news via the internet, which makes it easier for the public to instantly engage with ... The author John Steinbeck presents the relationship between the two characters, George and Lennie in different ways as they are both different characters and have different personalities. He presents it like a parent and child relationship, with George being the parent and Lennie the child. As soon as the reader is introduced to George and Lennie Steinbeck tells us that, They had walked in single file down the path . On some occasions though George shows a bit of hatred towards Lennie, he thinks of what he could have if Lennie wasn t around and contrasts that with George. There is also a sense of lack of trust in the relationship between the two men. We see this through the predicament with the work cards. It tells us that George again has to take care of Lennie, and that Lennie isn t trusted by George. Again this idea is portrayed to the reader on page seventeen, we notice that George knows that he needs a plan b as Lennie cannot be trusted so his plan b is to tell Lennie to hide in the brush until I come for you . This helps us to understand the relationship even further. George also treats Lennie like a dog in one occasion in the chapter, good boy . This is something a master would say to a dog to encourage them, it also tells us the sort of role in the relationship George has again. In conclusion, we see that Steinbeck uses various techniques to portray the relationship between George and Lennie. But the main method is the idea of George being like a parent to ... Fear comes in many forms; fear for loved ones, fear for health, fear of losing reputation and fear of reprisal. Throughout history, a powerful few have abused their power. An example of this dilemma occurred in the 1950 s when Senator Joseph McCarthystarted accusing innocent people of being communist sympathizers. Contemporary author, Arthur Miller, visited this concept of corrupt power and disapproval of McCarthyismin his classic, The Crucible. Good Night and Good Luck, a movie which was about the hysteria McCarthy caused to innocent lives, and The Crucible have one major thing in common: the corruption of power. This thematic idea reveals that the corruption of power can not only affect and impair mainstream society, but also the people which live within it. To have corrupt power, power must be gained. People often gain this power by manipulating others. Corrupt power is not used to benefit society, but rather for personal game and gain. Senator Joseph McCarthy and Abigail Williams obtain many of the same qualities to gain this power. McCarthy accused many innocent people for something they did not have a part in, while Abigail did the same by accusing people of witchcraft. • 34. Buffy The Vampire Slayer Analysis In Gina Wisker s article Vampires and School Girls: High School Jinks on the Hellmouth , she makes the point that Buffy is a new kind of women within vampire fictions. She supports this point by showing how Buffy is not a stereotypical helpless woman in a vampire film; Buffy is a strong independent woman who kills vampires and other creatures. While Wisker makes a very strong argument, this idea of a new kind of women could be extended to Willow and a new kind of men shown in Xander and Giles. In the first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the viewer sees Willow as a stereotypical woman in monster films. She was kidnapped and did not know how to defend herself, but throughout the rest of the show Willow develops as a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated earlier, men are normally the hero s but Xander represents a new kind of man. The dynamic of the man being the hero is flipped once again; Xander is a man that acts as a side kick to the main hero, who is a female. Xander tries his best to help Buffy throughout the film but he since he does not have any supernatural powers, like Buffy and Willow, there is not much he can do. Even though he does not have powers, this does not mean that he is weak. The most important part about Xander is that he sees beyond the supernatural and stays strong and supportive throughout the series. Xander keeps his hopes in the hardest situation and keeps the group tougher and positive. He will even sacrifice himself in order to keep the people he loves safe. He continuously fixes things for the group, and later on he goes on to cotinine his education and get a job as a carpenter. Xander represents a kind of man that may not take all the spot light but is still strong, level headed and the heart of the group. Possibly the best thing about Xander is that fact that he is normal. By just staying true who he is he helps his friends and saves the world, more than once. Another kind of man in Buffy the Vampire Slayer , is portrayed by Giles. Giles is a watcher assigned to watch and teach Buffy how to become a slayer. He helps to teach Buffy and get her ready for the battles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the case of swimming or surfing, hurling a volleyball or simply napping in the sand, a visit to the shoreline implies fun. The main gear you require is a twelve inch profound bucket, a little plastic scoop, and a lot of clammy sand. Making a sandcastle is a most loved venture of shoreline goers of any age. Start by uncovering a lot of sand (enough to fill no less than six buckets) and orchestrating it in a heap. At that point, scoop the sand into your bucket, tapping it down and leveling it off at the edge as you do. You would now be able to build the towers of your mansion by setting ... • 36. Analysis Of The Poem Of Departures By Philip Larkin Often times we hear people say, Whenever I _____, I m going to leave this town and go somewhere new . In fact, sometimes we are the ones saying this. This promise is especially heard in high school, when students discuss their college plans. But how many people actually end up leaving the state they live in? How many dare to venture out to different states and countries far away from home? In Poetryof Departures, Philip Larkin(the poet) states that there are only two types of people those who leave, and those who stay. From the very start of this poem, he declares We all hate home And having to be there.. . Most people would say that this is a false statement; not all of us hate home.On the contrary, most of us have been the ones saying that we are anxious to leave. So from the beginning, the poet has us questioning if we truly do hate home enough to leave it. Next, he makes a personal statement, I detest my room...And my life, in perfect order.. . Here, Larkin sounds ungrateful and unsatisfied with the simple luxuries he has, which are things we often take for granted. The sudden use of negativity in the first stanza is very important. He could have said I have good books, a good bed, and a nice house, but I am unhappy , however, this would lead the reader into believing that he is unhappy despite having these things. But because he makes it clear that he is unhappy before he lists all of the good things he has, it gives off the impression that he is unhappy because of these things, which is Larkin s intention. In the next stanza, he starts to compare his life to other s. He mentions how he heard that one man walked out on the whole crowd , and this leaves him feeling uncomfortable. It is not normal for someone to go against the majority, and Larkin acknowledges that. However, the author later says Surely I can, if he did? . Now we know that the anxious feeling Larkin had was actually restlessness, and maybe jealousy too. He wants to defy the norm, and do things his own way, yet something is holding him back. He knows that he could do it if he tried, but he fails to take action. Perhaps, just the reassuring thought of I am capable of doing my own thingis enough for him; just like how we ... Environmental pollutionand climate is becoming a more substantial concern worldwide as the years go on. Global warming is the increase of earth s normal surface temperature due to impact of greenhouse gases (omics.org). Bruno Bettelheim, the author of Uses of Enchantment, has constructed an evaluation that fairy tale s offer insight to the child s psychological life. Despite this statement s broadness, it remains true for the sole fact that children do not have much comprehensible knowledge of most subjects at an adolescent age. Bettelheim implies his words though, as if children have understanding of many things, but fairy tales being the most intelligible to them. Bettelheim also makes unexplainable assumptions about the psyche of a child. He compares their mind more to the developed adult who knows how to cope with struggles of society rather than viewing the child as the undeveloped innocent mind that it is. Fairy tales are harmless to a child while it may regress an adult. Bettelheim fails to recognize the gap of minds (95). He also falls short of realizing that even though he is trying to defend the child and the way their mind works, Bettelheim still thinks and reacts like an adult and cannot place himself in the child s thinking position but only observe them. Another aid in the justification that children may not always find an emphasized meaning to a fairy tale is the idea that children begin in a largely animistic world and only slowly learn the art of abstract thinking (95). The fact that the books offer more than just a beginning, middle, and end solution to a story for children has been disregarded. Rarely are children attentive to the story itself, but more intrigued with the illustrations and voice of the story teller. In the third chapter of Rhetoric Public Affairs: Angelina Grimke: Rhetoric, Identity, and the Radical Imagination, Browne contends that Angelina Grimke employed a rhetorical strategy for the reimagining of community and reconceiving of past, to encourage acceptance for her abolitionist vision of the future. In the Appeal, Angelina focused toward her audience of southern Christian women and seeks to use that understanding to connect with them and contend that the abolitionist cause cares for them. She also uses her analysis of biblical matters to reinterpret the meaning of the bible and its significance to these women and their time. The bible is thus contended to be a basis for condemning and opposing slavery, and that by their status, of them as Christian women in the context of Southern plantation society, they should work to oppose it. This is followed by a prescription of action tailored to both the audience s religious tendencies, and to the possible actions they may take in the context of their social status. This portrayal of the Appeal s rhetoric suggests a form of perfectibilism in the interpretation of the past and community basis. Rather than merely calling out problems in the past about how American and particularly southern society has engaged in slavery, it works to change the basis of historical community for her audience.
