The Worm in the Apple
The worm in the apple John Cheever is an American novelist, who gained his popularity as a short
story writer, for which he was awarded with Pulitzer prize for fiction. His work mostly deal with the
duality oh human nature corroborated by cultural and psychological background. And his short
story titled The worm in the apple is not an exclusion. The story unfolds very smoothly and evenly
in spite of of the stirring and at the same time troubling subject of the matter. We get acquainted
with the main characters The Crutchman family so very very happy and so temperate in all their
habits and so pleased with everything that came their way , due to the anaphoric repetition the
author creates intensification, that states the problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For everybody the Crutchman s family apple is perfect, but inside, it is repellent. With the help of
the atmosphere the author shows his own discourse about the problem for him this family s way
of life is ridiculous and absurd. He dwells upon it with tongue in cheek. It seems that characters are
everywhere but not in their family just because they know and understand the despair and
ruefulness of their little family theater. One more theme is relationships between parents and
children. And one more time we see the worm: the mother who loves one child more than the other
one, the mother who is jealous of her own daughter. And that of course cannot but contributes to
Rachel s and Tom s future lives. Having condemned her own life, Helen does the same about their
children s ones. Speaking about the language, it contributes to the whole effect of the story. It
opens with the sentence that sounds like a contradiction the Crutchmans are so happy that
everyone necessarily believed that they are not. It is impossible not to notice the irony of Cheever
they are so so so very happy. This usage of numerous adjectives makes the story emotional and
intense. Cheever creates the increase of tension by long sentences (he was at the communion rail,
the fifty yard line). Many of them are 4 5 lines. But for slatting the problem the author uses simple
short rhetorical questions. There aren t many stylistics devices in the text and the title of the story

Fourth Catholic Social Teaching Essay
The Catholic Social Teachings are understood within the context of the entirety of faith. The fourth
Catholic Social Teaching principle is the option for the poor and vulnerable. According to this
principle, Christians are called to care and protect those who are poor and vulnerable due to the
existing inequities in the distribution of power. Each person receives the goods of creation.
Individuals are required to eliminate sinful inequalities that prevent people from meeting their basic
needs. Overall, the deprivation of the power of the poor affects the whole community. The fourth

I directed more than fifty people to their designated booth and helped them set up their
belongings. Many of my efforts take the form of direct service, the first stage of service. I was
involved with the community by helping people place their belongings, such as jewelry or
clothing, on their tables to sell to the community. I had direct contact with the people and this
opportunity allowed me to take care of people s needs. Additionally, I informed people about the
tutoring classes offered to students and about the monthly food banks. Many individuals were
unaware of this organization and they gained new knowledge about El Centro Hispano. Also, I
spoke about my own experience in the organization and handed out flyers about the programs
offered by El Centro Hispano. Many Hispanic people were interested in the tutoring programs and
were informed about the food banks. These poor and vulnerable people lack necessary resources
and require programs for their children to succeed in school and in the future. Overall, I bring
awareness to my community about the non profit organization to help families gain the opportunity

Physical Effects Of Chromotherapy
Ancient cultures, such as the Egyptians and the Chinese, practiced chromotherapy and are still
used today. Chromotherapy is also called light therapy or colorology and uses colors to heal
people (Cherry, 2016). For example, the color red was used to stimulate an individual s body and
mind by increasing circulation, while yellow was used to stimulate the person s nerves and
purifying the body. Other colors that were used as treatments were blue, which was believed to
soothe illnesses and treat pain, and orange, which was said to heal the lungs and increase energy
(Parker). Research has shown that coloronly has temporary effects on an individual s mood and
dissipates after a short period of time (Cherry, 2016). Since color only has temporary effects,

These colors effect a person s body, mind, and emotions (Wright, 2016). The colors red and
yellow are considered warm colors. The warm color red is very powerful but it is not the most
visible color. It exhibits properties of appearing to be closer than it really is, which tends to grab
people s attention before any other color. Since red gives the impression that time is passing
faster than reality, it has a physical effect on people by raising their pulse rate and blood pressure.
Some of the emotions triggered by this color are strength, physical courage, caused by fight or
flight simulation, aggression, and anger (Wright, 2016). Red is a fast paced color and in many

Adolescenes Fitting In or Standing Out
Is adolescence really about fitting in or not standing out? Do you have any responsibility to those
students who don t fit in? A major part of adolescence is whether you fit it or not. This major part
decides the majority of your friends and your understandings/feelings. It s not always a bad thing
to not fit in. You don t really have a responsibility to those who do not fit in. Sometimes, they
choose not to fit in. By all means, try to include them. Try not to make them feel like they don t
belong, but this doesn t always work. In the article Childhood BullyingCan Leave Lifelong Scars an
assistant clinical professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, William
Copeland, at Duke University in Durham, N.C. stated, If we could set up a culture in schools
where this isn t allowed to happen, then, I think there are a lot of these problems we can avoid
(Reinberg, 1). He s right the problems would be avoided, but it s impossible to completely eliminate
the bullying that makes someone feel like an outsider. Sometimes, bullying doesn t have to be
presented for someone to feel like this. At times, it s the music they enjoy or the style that they like
that causes the constant antagonization. Just being different could cause this feelingof not belonging.
Often times, people don t like something different so they will attack it. This attack could be
physical, but most times is emotional. There s always going to be that difference that someone may

Korean Transnationalism
Throughout Korea s history, there are many instances in which lead to a cultural exchange between
the Korean people and foreigners. This exchange is what leads to the trans nationalistic nature of
Korea. The biggest occurrence that led to transnationalism along with a struggle in transnational
identity is that of the Japanese Colonial Occupation over Koreafrom 1910 1945. This occupation of
Korea was not just so Japan can follow the colonizing efforts of western governments, but also the
complete assimilation of the Korean people. This assimilation ideology was called Naisen Ittai
and is known as the unification of the Japanese and Korean people. Though, this mainly meant the
creation and enforcement of rules or policies to slowly turn the Korean populace into becoming as
Japanese as they could. This Naisen Ittai implemented by the Japanese government lead to the
cultural and self identity struggles many Koreans obtained while trying to balance the notion of
becoming Japanese while retaining their Korean heritage. However, some Koreans did not
struggle at all with this notion, as some embraced the Japanese assimilation, and others completely
opposed it. Those who embraced it known as collaborators and are seen as traitors to the Korean
People. These clashing ideals and identity brought up upon Naisen Ittai can be found throughout
many Korean works of literature and film. Some of the Korean works in which these ideals are
found within are YГґm Sang sГґp s On the Eve of

3.4.3 INSURANCE REGULATORY ACT (1999)
The Malhotra Committee Report set the tone of change in the Indian insurance sector and
deregulation followed subsequently. Indian cabinet approved the Insurance Regulatory Authority
(IRA) Bill on 6 March 1999 which was aimed at liberalizing Indian life and general insurance
industry. However, due to political instability the bill could not be ratified by the Indian
parliament. The bill was subsequently termed as IRDA Act and passed in the Parliament on 7
December 1999. With the passing of the bill the monopoly position of LIC was removed and
private companies were allowed to operate in the Indian insurance market. After the IRDA bill was
passed in the Parliament, private insurance companies were given licenses to operate in the Indian
market. Joint ventures between Indian and foreign companies were allowed but FDI was limited to
26 per cent of Rs 100 crore capitals of life companies and Rs 200 crore for non life companies.

Richard Rodriguez Hunger Of Memory Analysis
Remedial Reading Richard Rodriguez, in the passage Remedial Reading from his
autobiography Hunger of Memory (1982), promotes active reading as a developer of one s
mind. He justifies his position by describing his initial experiences with reading, specifically his
attachment to the reading. Rodriguez s anecdote functions as an encourager of stubborn minds
trying to read and displaying its potential to change their life for the better. Rodriguez uses a very
descriptive style that may be too verbose for children but compliments the verbosity with enough
explanation of his purpose for his message to be known or ascertained. The Gramercy Gym
Edward Hoagland, in the passage The Gramercy Gym (1985) from his book Heart s Desire ,
asserts that boxing is a sport on the decline. He supports his assertion by describing a gym in
New York throughout time. His account chronicles how the gym is not the same energetic site
it once was. Hoagland s audience includes sports enthusiasts who particularly enjoy and want to
preserve boxing, his writing would be confusing to people unacquainted with boxing, as its
jargon is riddled in the passage. The Great American Desert Edward Abbey, in the passage The
Great American Desert from his book The Journey Home (1977), asserts that the desert is a
terrible place but should still be benefited from because of its solitary nature. He portrays the
desert as a horrific place that no one would like to be in. He then describes the desert as a quiet
place to be enjoyed. His audience includes environmentalists and those who love nature. A Few
Words for Motherhood Wendell Berry, in his essay A Few Words for Motherhood (), displays
the grace and awe of animal birth. He recounts one of his cows giving birth in his barn, he
expresses the sentiments he felt: wonder and joy. He presents the cow, who amazingly knew
exactly how to confront giving birth with no prior experience. His writing is for everyone
interested in animals and animal birth. Here is New York E.B. White, in the essay Here is New
York (1948) implies that there are three different perspectives of New York, including that of the

An Outdated Buddhist
The stupa, an engineering structure ordinarily lodging the cremated remains or belonging of
essential righteous figures, is thought to be the auxiliary image and the most imperative sort of
landmark of Buddhism. Most stupas have an extremely unmistakable semi round shape, regularly
encompassed by a wall. As Buddhismwas presented in diverse districts, the fundamental building
elements of stupas were changed into an assortment of shapes mirroring the masterful articulations
of those societies.
The Mahaparinirvana Sutra (an antiquated Buddhist content portraying the most recent days of the
Buddha) guarantees that after the Buddha passed away, his devotees partitioned his cremated stays
into eight segments. Each of the eight kingdoms in which the Buddha had lived gotten one part of
the relics, and a stupa was raised in every kingdom keeping in mind the end goal to house the
remaining parts. Buddhist sources assert that amid the third century BCE, the Mauryan Emperor
Ashoka the Great requested these eight stupas to be opened, further appropriated the relics of the
Buddha into 84,000 partitions, and had stupas assembled over every one of them over the
extending Buddhist world.
The relics of the Buddha were not just considered a memorial image by the Buddhist group; they
were accepted to be the living vicinity of the Buddha, a vault of his defensive powers and living
vitality. Right on time in the Buddhist convention, pastorate and common people alike honed the
reverence of stupas

Before we re through with them, the Japanese language will be spoken only in Hell, explained
Admiral William F. Halsey in response to seeing the damage inflicted upon Pearl Harbor by the
Japanese. The United States entered World War II in December 1941 bearing a hostile attitude
towards the Japanese and immediately focused forces in stopping Japan s aggressive Pacific
expansion. In pursuing power of the Pacific, the United States secured crucial victories at the
Battle of Midway and Guadalcanal. As the United States sought control of the Marshall Islands to

Colonel Joseph H. Alexander, in his book Utmost Savagery describes he battle of Tarawaas a
gruesome seventy six hour battle, which took the lives of six thousand human beings in a space
of three hundred acres the identical size occupied by the Pentagon building and its parking lots.
The battle began in the early morning of November 20, 1943, as the United States Invasion fleet
lay off the coast of Betio, the island projected to attack among the Tarawa Atoll. There were
18,000 marines sent to the attack on Tarawa and this seemed to be a more than sufficient
number to easily secure the island. The United States forces encountered many problems though
as they started storming the island on November 20. As the U.S. landing crafts attempted to
invade the beaches of Betio, the tides were too low for a number of the heavier boats to freely
navigate to shore. On the morning of the attack, the tide level never reached the four feet above
the reef that was necessary to allow landing craft to land properly. Instead, the tide rose to at most
one foot above the reef. The reefs that surrounded the island were now acting as another defense
force for the Japanese and the American forces were significantly slowed in their attack. Many
heavier landing crafts were only able to deliver Marines within

Snow White By The Brothers Grimm
Snow White The story of Snow White is a cautionary tale that has been written by many. Each
time it has been told, the authors had a different interpretation of how it should be. The two
variations that I will be focusing on are The Brothers Grimm s story and Walt Disney s film.
Although the fairytales are written and filmed by different authors, they share a common theme
and two symbols. The theme that is present in both Grimm s and Disney s versions is that evil
will always be punished. The symbols that are in both tales include the concept of beauty and
the red poisonous apple. The Brothers Grimm wrote a few versions of Snow White, but the one
I will be referring to be Snow White. I will be comparing this story to the film of Walt Disney
titled Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. These two variations have a great deal in common
including being about Snow White, but they both tell her story a bit differently. I will point out
a few of these differences. In Grimm s version, the Queen visits the dwarf s house three times.
Each time she comes, she leaves with Snow to be looking presumably dead. The Queen harms
her first with a tightly laced corset; second with a poisonous comb she brushes her hair with and
last with a red piece of a poisonous apple. In Disney s film, a red apple poisons Snow once in the
attempt by the evil Queen to take her life. In the Grimm s Snow White, the kiss of the Prince does
not awaken her like in Disney s film, but instead the Prince s men drop her

Controversia Conversion Therapy Research Paper
Conversion therapy goes by many names, such as reparative therapy, Sexual Orientation Change
Efforts (SOCE), and ex gay therapy, but all are geared towards the same end result: to eradicate
homosexuality as a whole, even if it may be completely natural to the individual. Despite the
common belief, homosexuality is not an illness. In fact, it was declassified as a mental illness
from the ICD 10 in 1973. However, there are several organizations dedicated to the very purpose
of treating it as one. While it may seem like an antiquated topic, the issue is still being debated and
even encouraged to this day, despite its lacking ethical standing.
Conversion therapy s core beliefs are deeply rooted in outdated, obsolete, and unfounded ideals. In
the past, the institutionalization of the LGBT+ people has been underrepresented, despite how ...

The stigma that those in the community are viewed as child molesters and inherently predatory
only manages to perpetuate negative stereotypes. Instead of attempting to classify and treat
homosexuality as a mental disorder, what should be focused on is the effect such a stigmatization
could have on the patient. In fact, LGBT+ youth are at a much higher risk of suicide, depression,
and anxiety. According to a study entitled: Sex of Sexual Contacts, and Health Risk Behaviors
Among Students in Grades 9 12: Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance, 80% more of those who

If I Were A Triffid Analysis
Literature Circle
If I was a Triffid, I would do many things that the Triffids did not do in the pages we read. The
things I would do if I was a Triffid is kill all the humans. I would also gather up other Triffids and
form a large group with other Triffids and I would also invade all the buildings in the area. To start,
if I was a Triffid, I would kill all the humans in the world.
If I was a Triffid, I would try to kill as much as humans as I possibly could in order to stay alive.
The reason I would try to kill all the Triffids is because humans can make and have very deadly
weapons such as shotguns, nuclear bombs, machine guns, missiles and more. So if I tried to kill
all the humans ,blind and not blind, there would be a result of no dangerous threat to Triffids
and I, so we could roam around freely. Also, because Triffids are carnivorous and I am a Triffid,
I could only survive by eating meat and flesh, and there is about seven billion humans so humans
could be a superior source of food. The last reason I would kill all the humans because if all the
humans were gone, Triffids could be the leaders of the land and rule everything, so Triffids would
be respected by other creatures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason I would do that is so the humans would not have anything to collect from the store and
would eventually die which would be easier than killing humans. Not only if we invade all the
store just to kill humans but to use the equipment for ourselves like canned meat and things like
that. Also, invading all the buildings means we could use it for shelter, like a house. In summation
this is why I would invade all the buildings.
In conclusion, this is what I would do many things that the Triffids did not do in the pages we

Everything roots from the family unit and this can t be ignored. Yoruba families are, like most
african families, dominated by the father. Where the difference lies is the children have a
relationship with their father that emphasis love. The dynamic between love and respect are the
differences between the two groups. Children call their father by gentle names and there s a
rigorous amount of cultural niceties and traditions that children are to learn when interacting
with adults. Igbo: Family life is also the foundation of Igbo culture. More so than Yoruba culture
is the power the father has over the family. Igbo fathers emphasis respect more than love though
I wouldn t say the love is more or less in the cultures. It s more common for igbo children to call
their father s more authoritative names like sir, and culturally there s an element of respective
distance. I ve seen yoruba families eat from the same plate and children sitting among adults
while they speak. In Igbo culture if you wish to eat with your father, you eat from his plate, but
he will not leave where he s at to eat from the child s plate. Typically fathers are served separate
from children, and as children become youths they chose to eat separately from those not in their
age group. Igbo adults are also insulted by children that don t leave the area when adults are

Symptoms And Treatment Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Imagine a syndrome that can cause you, or a woman you know, to be infertile, depressed,
anxious, obese, or hirsute, along with many others. Polycystic ovary syndrome can cause all of
these issues in a woman who is affected by the condition. If it is not treated properly or on time, it
could lead to other serious medical issues that could even be life threatening. Polycystic ovary
syndrome, otherwise known as PCOS, is not a commonly known syndrome and many women
affected by it are not diagnosed or treated for it. PCOS is a major medical problem that is
affecting five to ten percent of the female population in the U.S. and many more across the globe
(American Diabetes Association, 2014). This syndrome must become better known in the near
future so that women with PCOS can take better control and care of their own body.
DEFINITION: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is a common endocrine disorder that can affect many
women. It is also an incurable disorder that affects 1 in 10 women and over 50% do not know
they have it (PCOS Awareness Association, 2014). An ultrasound exam can reveal that women
with PCOS have a collection of follicles on enlarged ovaries. The particular cause of polycystic
ovary syndrome is unknown. It could be connected to long term complications; therefore, doctors
recommend weight loss to reduce this risk. Also, early diagnosis and treatment can have an impact
on deciphering if a woman will have long term complications. Such complications include type 2

Colonies or the Southern colonies, then we would have to wait for those shipments to come in,
not having a bountiful supply on hand. We are not brutal men, for their daily life surrounds
around the church and these people are not prepared. Economically, these people are ready and
they make their own manufactured products and they are able to spread word easily and are
always addressing problems. These people only need natural materials in order to make them so
they would be able to be well supplied. Using the terrain would make so that the French fight
uphill and they fight downhill. So even though there were many things that would help them
through the war, their peaceful ways would prohibit them to be good fighters. I am asking you
to help us in many ways if we go to war. First, we would need training to have better soldiers.
Second, we would need to stalk up on supplies and cotton for clothes to keep them warm. If all of
these things are accomplished then the New England Colony will be ready for

The Unconverted Self By Jonathan Boyarin Essay
In The Unconverted Self, author Jonathan Boyarin reexamines the relationship between Christian
Europe and the world around it, especially in the context of interreligious dialogue as a means of
defining Christian identity. The common school of thought, as presented in this book, is that
European identity reaches modernity after 1492 with the discovery of the radically different
culture of Indigenous Americans (p. 9). Boyarin argues that this is untrue, as this belief operates
under the incorrect assumption that the European people were a homogenous population (p.9).
Instead, Boyarin seeks to move beyond the concept of two separate Europes, and proposes instead
that this othering that was so critical to define Christian identity was already occurring in pre
contact Europe (p. 1). For this, Boyarin looks to the Jewish and Muslim populations of Europe as a
replacement for the Indigenous American peoples. He asserts that this sense of the other
threatening Christendom existed far before 1492, and outlines the ways in which this conflict in
religious dimensionality was vital to the formation of Christian identity. Boyarin s volume presents
a concise read that reexamines existing scholarship and recontextualizes historical events to create
a convincing argument, as well as provide questions for future scholarship to build upon. However,
there were aspects in this book that were lacking, causing it to be an almost tedious read at parts.

New Product Development ( Npd )
New Product Development (NPD) entails introduction of new products or services to the market. In
today s environments, NPD is crucial to many companies due to a number of reasons: firstly,
international competition is increasing rapidly; markets have become fragmented and demanding;
again, technologies are changing and becoming more diverse. (Bigliardi, Eleonora, Roberto,
Giuseppe, 2010). In order to always be ahead of competition as well as maintain a competitive
advantage, organisations have integrated NPD into their corporate strategy and also offer products
that are well aligned to target customer needs. (Calantone, Vickery, Dröge, 1995; Damanpour
Shanti, 2001). Therefore, success of many companies have been attributed to... Show more content

Thereafter, conclusions and recommendations for improving the NPD process of the company
are enumerated. Literature Review Various NPD models have been proposed as a result of
evolution of design of NPD process throughout the years. Specifically, three major generations of
NPD models are identified. (Bigliardi, Bottani, Rinaldi, 2013) For the first generation of
models, NPD process was perceived as series of stages to be conducted chronologically to
simplify innovation activities. (Bigliardi et al., 2013). Works by Klompmaker et al and Hanan
(cited in Bigliardi et al., 2010) proposed an NPD model comprising of 27 steps and a 24
activities flow diagram appropriate for non industrial goods respectively, while McGuire (cited
in Bigliardi et al., 2013) proposed a similar model for industrial goods. Another model proposed
during the early 1990s indicated NPD steps were performed in parallel or concurrently (Clark
Fujimoto, 1991). Cooper (1994) postulated a third generation of NPD models, which involves
moving a new product from idea to launch mainly incorporating discipline into a process. Even
though there exist differences across various models, in terms of the activities recognised, each
theoretical element shows a framework that is significantly similar. Most of the stage based
models denote the process as a series of linear activities, having feedback loops between each
activity. New

foundation of Christian faith. Looking for things through the text in the Romans such as (1) the
natural world, (2) human identity, (3) human relationships, and (4) culture.
The first thing is the natural world. In the natural world it is full of sin, murder and crime are being
committed even back in Romans. During Paul s days was full of sin. We see sinners worship
the creation but to the creator. There were sins that were being committed back then that are still
being committed till this day. When reading Romans first off it was a little bit confusing at first
but after rereading it it started to become more clear that the Romans in the past worshiped many
gods. They were trying to gain the love and hopes from the people in their town. The writer of
Romans Paul wanted to cover this due to he believed he saw the issues within the Roman society
and so he addressed it with the church. He decided to point out the sins and make it more to the
graceful to the people and the church. In Romans Paul distinguished human identity as being the
saved and the unsaved, and the Jews. Paul talks about whether humanity is the law or not. Paul

The Pros And Cons Of The Colonization Of Mars
If the human race is to continue for another million years, we will have to boldly go where no one
has gone before, said Stephen Hawking in 2008. The interplanetary migration of our species has
been a stimulating prospect for ages, and, as technology is advancing by the minute, we are only
getting closer to its realization. For this prospect, Marsis the sole candidate. There are many
reasons why this is so, and there are many reasons as to why we should undergo the colonization
of Mars now. But why Mars in particular? Because it is the nearest celestial body that also happens
to be very similar to Earth. A day on Mars only forty minutes longer than a day on Earth, which, to
plant and animal life, would be familiar. Not only that, but Mars axis tilts similarly to how Earth
does, which means that Earth and Mars have similar seasonal patterns. These two aspects would
provide colonists familiarity rather than alienation. Not only this, but Mars is the closest planetto
Earth that is potentially inhabitable. (Venus is closer to Earth than Mars but highly uninhabitable.)
Most interestingly, Mars has sizeable reservoirs of ice mostly beneath its surface, which then could
be uprooted and thus usable. No other celestial body within the Sun s liveable boundary (called the
Goldilocks zone ) have these conveniences, making Mars the best option for interplanetary
habitation.
Pursuing Mars colonization now would directly improve modern technology and life. Alexander

Consequences Of Rules In Candade By Dudley Randall s Candide
Rules are challenged all the time for many reasons. Rules should only be challenged at an
appropriate time like maybe when you don t agree with the rules and your against it. Sometimes
challenging rules can have good consequences and bad consequences. In the poem The Ballad of
Birmingham written by Dudley Randall and the story Candidewritten by Voltaireboth have rules,
but in one story the rules were followed and the other rules were broken.
In the poem The Ballad of Birmingham A girls wants to go to a march but she is not allowed,
instead she is told to go to church she follows the rulers and she gets killed, says in the poem on
lines 31 and 32 ВЁO, here s the shoe my baby wore, But, baby, where are you. In the story
Candide a boy does not follow rules in a castle and gets kicked out of the castle states in the story
on paragraph 8 ВЁBaron Thunder ten Tronckh passed near the screen and beholding this cause and
effect caused Candide from the castle with great kicks on the backside.ВЁ
In the Poem ВЁThe Ballad of BirminghamВЁ the rules were not to go to the march, But the
rules were changed, she thought thinks it s going to be dangerous No baby no you may not go
for the dogs are fierce and wild and clubs and hoses guns and jails aren t good for a little child.
The character Baby was told to go to the church instead of the march, states on lines 13 16 No,
Baby, no, you may not go, for i fear those guns will fire. But you may go to church instead and
sing in the children s choir. Baby followed her mother s orders. She has combed and brushed her
night dark hair and bathed rose petal sweet and drawn white gloves on her small brown hands
and white shoes on her feet Baby was now ready to go to church. The consequences she got for
following the rules of going to church instead of going to the march is that she was killed by an
explosive says on lines 25 28 For when she heard the explosion her eyes grew wet and wild she
raced through the streets of Birmingham calling for her child O, here s the shoe my baby wore,
But, baby, where are you. The author s message is that maybe if you challenge the rules sometimes
good consequences could happen, so it might be appropriate to challenge rules most of the

A Completely New World Sometimes the most impactful events can emerge from the most
common occasions. For instance, on another insignificant summer day, in the Southwest corner
of Minnesota, I was passing my free time playing videogames, hanging out with friends, and
working at HyVee. In other words, I was going through my regular routine. My family and I had
been planning a trip to San Diego, California. Soon, I would leave my summer for the big city.
Here there would be beaches, palm trees, and numerous people. This event would make my
summer more memorable, I thought to myself. In the fall of 2015, my parents had bid on a

Every single beach that we went to had endless miles of shoreline. The beaches were almost like
Minnesota lakes on steroids. Actually, they were not comparable because of the pure size of the
beach and body of water. In addition, we learned that swimming in the ocean was more fun than
swimming in a Minnesota lake. The waves were fun to dodge or body surf on, because of their
enormous size. Also, there were tons of people at every beach we visited. It was a good thing
that there was so much shoreline because even with the huge amount of shoreline, it was still
crowded. Another thing I got to see firsthand was the surfers. One side of the beach was marked
off for swimming and the other for surfers. Before this trip, I had never seen anyone surf and it
was entertaining to watch them take a wave from so far away from shore and ride it all the way

Outside The Realm Of Philosophical, And Religious, Study
Outside the realm of philosophical, and religious, study the words substance, and matter, are
commonplace definer of a physical material out of which an object of permanence is made of. To
the philosophers of the early modern period not only are these terms dissimilar, but also
represented radically different ontological theories. The topic of substance is a pillar of philosophy
an ontological analysis. The term substance corresponds to the Greek ousia, which means being

to be the simplest component that constructed reality. Alterations in how philosophers defined

An example would be someone s name. The name Gabe is capable of existing on its own, and
while it is likely this name is associated with another human it cannot be proven to be associated
to any form or object. Secondary substance would be predictive of form and function; so human
would be a secondary substance as a human has a definitive form (Stanford Encyclopedia of
Philosophy). This dualist presentation of substance allows for a deductive ontological proof
capable of predicting primary substance. Aristotle believes, Whenever one thing is predicated of
another as of a subject, all things said of what is predicated will be said of the subject also. He
continues by presented the example that, man is predicated of the individual man, and animal of
man; so animal will be predicated of the individual man also for the individual man is both a man
and an animal. (1b10, Categories). This chain of predictability allowed Aristotle to prove whether
something has being or not. Interestingly, Aristotle leaves the binary substance classification for a
more specific criterion to understand what substance is.

Iago Is The Villain
William Shakespeare has some of the most memorable villains in all of drama. One of them is
known as Iago. Many people argue that Iago was the protagonist but that simply is not true. People
also think that since Iago manipulates Othello, they think the reasoning behind this is because Iago
truly thinks he is being honest, kind and steering him onto the right path. This is not right since Iago
knows what he is doing. Iago is the villain in Shakespeare s play, Othello, uses morals to prove that
Iago is the villain. Iago is the villain because he does not respect Desdemonalike everyone else
does, or Othello with his nobleness. Iago should be inspired by Othello by how he is noble, strong
and kind. And what s he then, that I play the villain?

Girl Scouts is a common program, in which many people place their girls in. It was started by
Juliette Gordon Low in 1912 and now has over 1.8 million Girl Scouts. She came up with the
concept while volunteering in England with the Girl Guides. She soon formed the program in

organization. In 1912, Girl Scouts was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia. She
gathered 18 diverse young women, who had a passion for learning. She soon taught them about the
outdoors and formed educational programs for their advancement. According to Young Mason

Fog In Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens diplomatically uses symbolism throughout the novel to portend upcoming
conflicts. The horses with drooping heads and tremulous tails (16) struggled to march up the harsh
conditions of the lofty hill. The horses embodies King Louis XIV, Queen Marie Antoinette, and
aristocrats of France. The rulers and aristocrats eventually face death due to the dissatisfaction of
the people about the dying economy. The horses drooping heads epitomizes the King, Queen, and
the aristocrats heads under the guillotine, which leads to their appalling death. As the passengers of
the carriage, along with the horses, trudged up the the precipitous hill, they had to walk through a
curtain of fog that was enough to shut out everything from the light (16). The fog best exemplifies
the unpredictable future of the aristocrats because they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the passengers and company hiked up the steep hill, they mashed their way through the thick
mud (16). The thick mud prefigures the difficulties and conflicts the aristocrats have to face in the
end for ignoring the suffering and poverty of the people around them. The story takes place on a
Friday night in November, one thousand seven hundred and seventy five (17). Dickens chose a
night in November because the month has more dark and gloomy weather and color during the
day than luminous and radiant. The month s gloom and darkness foreshadows the many deaths
of the aristocrats and the depression feeling of the lower class. On the Friday night of November,
the passengers were lumbering up Shooter s hill (17) to get the the Dover Mail. Shooter s hill is
steep, muddy, and sufficient with many obstacles. The hill presages the tough obstacles the upper
class will encounter because of their money and arrogance towards the lower class. The setting is a

African American Womanhood
African American women, often perceived as a sexual object or the Jezebel (the stereotype of
white man view of the black woman as loose and over sexed) have struggled to eliminate images
that promote sexual exploitation such as their promiscuity (showing off their breast, behind, legs,
and showing much of their skin on television, music videos and magazines) through the use of
feminist movements and the creation of the womanist movement. However, in modern day
society, black women have accepted these sexual ideas which were once considered to be
dishonorable. The acceptance of this image, a direct cause of social construction and suppressed
oppression, has given rise to a disturbed vision of black womanhood for years to come. Despite this,

While both Black and White women are subject to sexualized images, the white woman defines
the standard of the socially acceptable view of what it is to be a woman. Not being able to fit into
that set of stereotypes, Black women consequently become deemed as the other within their own
gender. The stereotypes formed for African American women were even more significantly
derogatory than that of the image of the submissive house slave. This ideology of the 19th century
Eurocentric norm was to objectify these woman as sexually promiscuous. By exaggerating their
actions and portraying them into a negative perception, these portrayals were designed to oppress
these women and deem them inferior to their female counterpart. Decades later, these images still
have influence today in the perceptions of the Black women and their bodies. A great example of
this sexism and racism can be seen in today s criticism about female sports athletes such as the six

golfer to play at a higher level than they might otherwise play without a Callaway driver.
In order to achieve this higher level of performance in one s golf game, Callaway had created a
club for their target market that met yet a third need, that being the demand for forgiveness in a
club. To meet this need Callaway created a driver that allowed a less than technically proficient

the ball left or the right of center on the driver.
In other words, what the golfer lacks in technical skill can be compensated for to a noticeable
degree by the advanced design of a golf club. This is what is known as forgiveness. The fourth
and final need is that of quality. Given that Callaway customers paid a premium for Callaway
clubs, they expect that Callaway would create nothing short of a high quality club. A high quality
club being one made of the best materials, while delivering on all of the claims made such as
improved performance. It was Callaway s ability to successfully meet these four customer needs
that had put them at the top of their game for many, many years.

Confucianism In Chin The Fall Of The Qin Dynasty
There have been many debates among Chinese historians as to the cause of the fall of the Qin
Dynasty. The Qin used force and strict rules to keep a short leash on the people of the kingdom.
However, with the precautions taken by the government, they did not know it would ultimately be
their demise. In order to contain rebellion and to keep the people of the empire ignorant, the
combination of brutality, persecutions, antagonizing of the elites, and denying the Way, led to the
short reign and ultimately the fall of the Qin Dynasty.
In order to start at the very core of the problem with the Qin, one must look into Confucianism.
Confucius, known as Master Qiu or Our Master Kong, lived during the Spring and Autumn Period
of the Zhou Dynasty from 551 479 B.C.E. He was born in Lu in Eastern China of low nobility, but
educated. During this time, war was imminent. He spent a time during his life traveling from state
to state helping, and became employed by rulers who shared his view and perspective of life.
Now labeled as Confucianism, his teachings and philosophies shaped the Chinese world for
thousands of years. Confucius surviving teachings are published in his Analects. Three important
conducts that Confucius associated with moral nobility were: filial, humaneness, and ritual
decorum. Filial piety is the devotion, respect for elders and know your place within the family. A
young person who is filial and respectful of his elders rarely becomes the kind of person who is

The Annual Spending On Renewable Energy
The annual spending on renewable energy by the Department of Defense (DOD) will reach $10
billion by 2030 (Schueneman). Right now the military proves to be one of the highest consumers
of renewable energy. They are also responsible for using and burning the most fossil fuels in the
entire country. The DoD realizes this and that s why they are working so hard to become a greener
military. In order to enhance the security of the American people and to address the every changing
requirements of sustainability, the U.S. military is urgently trying to reduce its footprint on the
world.. The military is constantly trying to produce cleaner power, reduce energyconsumption,
minimize waste and most importantly manage water. This covers an... Show more content on

A lot of military leaders where already well aware of the sustainability issues going on within the
DoD. Admiral John Nathman, USN (Ret.), former Commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces
Command under President George W. Bush, put it this way: There are serious risks to doing
nothing about climate change. We can pay now or we re going to pay a whole lot later. The U.S.
has a unique opportunity to become energy independent, protect our national security and boost our
economy while reducing our carbon footprint. We ve been a model of success for the rest of the
world in the past and now we must lead the way on climate change (Schueneman)
The military as a whole has realized that their sustainability efforts haven t been the best and they
are doing enormous amounts of work to change that. Some may argue that the DoD isn t
concerned about sustainability because the Pentagon generates five times more toxins than the
five major US chemical companies combined and is considered the single largest domestic
consumer of oil (Sustainability). In all actuality the DoD and the Pentagon is well aware of this.
That is why they are pushing for these huge sustainability changes. They know that they are a large
role model and in order to change the image of the U.S. they first need to change their own image.
The Departments of the Navy, Army, and the Air Force, are all making big changes to help with
this new mission; to

Sexism And The Effects Of Growing Up
Sexism and the Effects of Growing up in a Man s World
W0512971
Southeastern Louisiana University
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine whether sexism has an effect on the lives of women in
situations such as breastfeeding their child and whether or not people take offense to the sight
of seeing a mother breastfeed her child. I will recruit 100 participants, 50 males, and 50 females,
ranging from ages 18 to 50. I will perform my study using an experimental design where
participants are shown a series of images in a video on a projector screen and they will place the
images in one of two categories, with ten slots open for each category. The next part of my study
will be to ask the participants in an essay question if they would continue, or be comfortable with
their significant other continuing to breastfeed in public after receiving negative feedback from a
stranger (See Appendix). I hypothesize that the majority of the participants will place an image of a
mother breastfeeding in a public setting in a bad deeds category, but will place a picture of
shirtless men playing football in the park in the good deeds category. I expect to come to the
conclusion that people are more likely to take offense to the sight of a woman breastfeeding than to
seeing a shirtless man.
Sexism and the Effects of Growing up in a Man s World Sexism has been observed throughout
history. There was once a time where women were denied an education, the

Me Against The World Tupac Analysis
Lesane Parish Crook (eventually changed to Tupac Amaru by his mother when she joined the
Black Panther party and became Tupac Shakur after his sister s fathers surname) was born and
raised in Harlem, New York on June 16, 1971. He is known for his rap music that embodies the
struggles he faced being raised by a single mother, living in the ghetto, being surrounded by drugs,
etc. Some regard him as the GOAT (greatest of all time) rapper and is often compared to The
Notorious B.I.G, another rapper from the era who is also in contention for being the GOAT rapper.
Eventually, he signed with Death Row records, a record label run by Suge Knight and composed of
many other established rappers from the 90 s like Dr. Dre. Tupac died on Sept. 13, 1996... Show

His music is described by Eithne Quinn as embodying toughness and tenderness that he
outmatched the other G Funk artists from the time. I see the toughness from the environment he
grew up in that was filled with violence, guns, drugs, etc. Tupac lived off of the streets and grew
up with little to no privileges. As a result, he had to look out for himself and the odds were
stacked against him. Me Against the World exemplifies this struggle as he felt like it was just
him against the world at times. The word tenderness also perfectly describes Tupac s music. The
lyrics in this song sound heartfelt. He expresses how he feels about the world around him by
talking about the issues people outside of the ghetto are unaware of, but people who live in the
ghetto are used to seeing people get shot and the fear of being shot when he steps outside. As
Quinn describes it, this song and album as a whole are different from his previous work because
it focuses on his individual paranoia. It does not seem like his lyrics are targeted at one specific
audience. It sounds like he is talking to himself at some times and is retelling his experiences,
venting his frustrations with the world, and the chorus is his way of accepting his situation and
how the world is by saying, It s just me against the world and I ve got nothing to lose. In the last
verse, it sounds like he is talking to young people who

Summary Of Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried
The short story The Things They Carried , written by Tim O Brien, is a story written in 1986 in
the setting of the Vietnam War. The main character, First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross, is a young
man who struggles with the battle of love while being away at war. Cross leads his men with the
thought of Martha, the woman he loves, in the back of his head at nearly all times, which
distracts him from the true harshness of the war. The list of the things the soldiers carry in O
Brien s short story tell us what tangibles the men carry with them that are necessities for the
battles, but they also carry intangibles with them such as the letters, and the dope to help comfort
them in a time of fear. These possessions express the character of the men in the squad. All of the
men in the squad carry something with them whether it is tangible or intangible that defines who
they are. These things that the soldiers carry with them are not only items strapped on their
shoulders but they are now a part of who they are during this period of time in their lives. During
the war the soldiers would carry things other than weapons. This included carrying things out of
necessity: because the object might provide some measure of safety or security and also it might
comfort them in time of great fear. (Wells 1) In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mexican American War Research Paper
On April 25, 1846, the first shots of Mexican American War were fired during a skirmish near Rio
Grande. Between 1846 and 1848, the war fought between two North American nations, the United
States and Mexico. It began with a bullet, it then took lives, it ended with a treaty, and it made its
mark on history s timeline. It was a defining event for both nations. By the time the war was over
Mexicohad lost nearly half of its territory. But Texasactually gained its independence from Mexico
in 1836.
The war between Mexico and the United States had begun because of the struggle over who would

Those in the free states, north tended to hold this view of the war. Many of the people that moved
to Texas ignored the slavery restriction. The northerners feared that Texas would join the Union as
a slavery state. It was that fear that Calhoun had used to ensure that President Tyler s treaty with
Texas would not get the two out of the third majority needed in the Senate for approval.
General Zachary Taylor leads U.S. troops past the Nueces River toward the Rio Grande River.
Taylor led U.S. troops on a march they occupied the land below the Nueces River and claimed
the area east of the Rio Grande for the U.S. The war then begins, led by General Anastasio

Trump Immigration Policy
Under the new immigration enforcement policies of the Trump administration millions of people
living in the United States illegally could soon be targeted for deportation. Any immigrant who is
in the country illegally and is charged or convicted of any offense, or even suspected of a crime,
will now be an enforcement priority, according to Homeland Security Department memos signed by
Secretary John Kelly. Under the Obama administration, immigrants whose only violation was being
in the country illegally were generally left alone.
Donald Trump s deportation policy focuses on anyone who has been charged with a criminal
offense, even if it has not led to a conviction. He also includes anyone who has committed acts that
constitute a chargeable criminal offense, (Medina, J). Which means anyone the authorities believe
has broken any type of law, regardless of whether that person has been charged with a crime....

To get this done, he mainly plants to build the wall he has promised, as I mentioned. Trump
initially demanded for Mexico to pay for the building of the wall and Kelly s memos reiterate calls
for Homeland Security to start planning for the costs and construction (Baker, A). Also, during
Trump s earlier immigration orders, he banned all refugees as well as foreigners from seven
Muslim majority countries, which he has had extensive criticism and legal action.
While I do see immigrants coming to the United States illegally as an issue, the focus on which
immigrants or priority deportees is not efficient. It seems that most presidential administrations,
especially Donald Trumps have chosen to focus on immigrants with non threatening charges. I think
instead the focus should at least be on the illegal immigrants who are a threat to citizens like those
in gangs or other illegal activities, rather than those with small

Equality Is The Central Point Of Discussion
Equality In America Throughout the history of America, equality has always been the central
point of discussion in society. Many believe that America has reached the point of equality where
everyone is equal. Obviously this is not the case, but we have made great strides to reach a world
where everyone is equal. However, America has made great improvements in making equality
relevant in todays society. Although contemporary society has succeeded in making equality a
reality, I claim that it has also failed in addressing this theme appropriately. America has always
been associated with the theme and value of equality. America s history is thick and rich with the
major theme of equality. For instance, the abolishment of slavery, which... Show more content on

USAID quotes, If we can erase these inequities and put women on equal footing with men we
know we can unlock human potential on a transformational scale . The government agency s
push towards equality for women will not just benefit women, but many other people. For
instance, USAID quotes, just by empowering women farmers with the same access to land, new
technologies and capital as men, we can increase crop yields by as much as 30 percent and feed an
additional 150 million people . This agency is a work in progress, but there mindset is on equality
for all, which is magnificent. Contemporary society has been able to keep the value of equality
relevant throughout America. The strides made by society in order to reach equality for all
genders is tremendous, yet society is still in the dark over equality in other areas. While society
in America has been able to keep the value of equal germane, it has also failed in making this
value a reality. Writer Joseph E. Stiglitz, author of the Great Divide , quotes, the gap between
aspiration and reality could hardly be wider . Stiglitz is pessimistic about the value of equality in
America and how it has been addressed. Stiglitz quotes, Today, the United Stateshas less equality of
opportunity than almost any other advanced industrial country, study after study has exposed the
myth that America is the land of opportunity . Now, Stiglitz is making a huge statement by saying

Hiroshima John Hersey Analysis
One passage from Hiroshima, written by John Hersey, was an observation from all the
individuals in the book. This passage caught my attention and it stayed with me as I read on.
Hersey wrote, They still wonder why they lived when so many others died.[...] At the time, none
of them knew anything (Hersey, 2). The quote helped me to understand the seriousness of
dropping an atomic bomb. So many people died, suffered, and were injured throughout the
book. The event was horrifying to read about, and therefore it is amazing that many were able to
survive such an affair. The words, a step taken in time, a decision to go indoors, catching one
streetcar instead of the next that spared them , shows just how crucially important every decision
was. This quote made me think of all the decisions we make in life, and how important each one
is to making us the people we are today. Life is made up of so many little decisions that have the
possibility to change everything. At times, it is not always clear what the correct decision is.
However, in life or death situations such as the ones so many faced in Hiroshimaand Nagasaki,
these correct decisions were what was able to save them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

even a crack and choked their breath.[...] They were just 13 years old (Hersey, 88). Reading about
how courageous all of the girls were, singing their national anthem as they died, struck me. Not
only is it inspiring that these girls were so strong, but it was so sad to read that one girl survived,
and spoke of her friends dying beside her. This showed me the enormity of the bombing of
Hiroshima. Imagining a group of innocent girls dying, shows the large extent of this morally wrong

  • 2. The Worm in the Apple The worm in the apple John Cheever is an American novelist, who gained his popularity as a short story writer, for which he was awarded with Pulitzer prize for fiction. His work mostly deal with the duality oh human nature corroborated by cultural and psychological background. And his short story titled The worm in the apple is not an exclusion. The story unfolds very smoothly and evenly in spite of of the stirring and at the same time troubling subject of the matter. We get acquainted with the main characters The Crutchman family so very very happy and so temperate in all their habits and so pleased with everything that came their way , due to the anaphoric repetition the author creates intensification, that states the problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For everybody the Crutchman s family apple is perfect, but inside, it is repellent. With the help of the atmosphere the author shows his own discourse about the problem for him this family s way of life is ridiculous and absurd. He dwells upon it with tongue in cheek. It seems that characters are everywhere but not in their family just because they know and understand the despair and ruefulness of their little family theater. One more theme is relationships between parents and children. And one more time we see the worm: the mother who loves one child more than the other one, the mother who is jealous of her own daughter. And that of course cannot but contributes to Rachel s and Tom s future lives. Having condemned her own life, Helen does the same about their children s ones. Speaking about the language, it contributes to the whole effect of the story. It opens with the sentence that sounds like a contradiction the Crutchmans are so happy that everyone necessarily believed that they are not. It is impossible not to notice the irony of Cheever they are so so so very happy. This usage of numerous adjectives makes the story emotional and intense. Cheever creates the increase of tension by long sentences (he was at the communion rail, the fifty yard line). Many of them are 4 5 lines. But for slatting the problem the author uses simple short rhetorical questions. There aren t many stylistics devices in the text and the title of the story is maybe, the main ... • 4. Fourth Catholic Social Teaching Essay The Catholic Social Teachings are understood within the context of the entirety of faith. The fourth Catholic Social Teaching principle is the option for the poor and vulnerable. According to this principle, Christians are called to care and protect those who are poor and vulnerable due to the existing inequities in the distribution of power. Each person receives the goods of creation. Individuals are required to eliminate sinful inequalities that prevent people from meeting their basic needs. • 5. Physical Effects Of Chromotherapy Ancient cultures, such as the Egyptians and the Chinese, practiced chromotherapy and are still used today. Chromotherapy is also called light therapy or colorology and uses colors to heal people (Cherry, 2016). For example, the color red was used to stimulate an individual s body and mind by increasing circulation, while yellow was used to stimulate the person s nerves and purifying the body. Other colors that were used as treatments were blue, which was believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain, and orange, which was said to heal the lungs and increase energy (Parker). • 6. Adolescenes Fitting In or Standing Out Is adolescence really about fitting in or not standing out? Do you have any responsibility to those students who don t fit in? A major part of adolescence is whether you fit it or not. This major part decides the majority of your friends and your understandings/feelings. It s not always a bad thing to not fit in. You don t really have a responsibility to those who do not fit in. Sometimes, they choose not to fit in. By all means, try to include them. Try not to make them feel like they don t belong, but this doesn t always work. In the article Childhood BullyingCan Leave Lifelong Scars an assistant clinical professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, William Copeland, at Duke University in Durham, N.C. stated, If we could set up a culture in schools where this isn t allowed to happen, then, I think there are a lot of these problems we can avoid (Reinberg, 1). He s right the problems would be avoided, but it s impossible to completely eliminate the bullying that makes someone feel like an outsider. Sometimes, bullying doesn t have to be presented for someone to feel like this. At times, it s the music they enjoy or the style that they like that causes the constant antagonization. Just being different could cause this feelingof not belonging. Often times, people don t like something different so they will attack it. This attack could be physical, but most times is emotional. • 7. Korean Transnationalism Throughout Korea s history, there are many instances in which lead to a cultural exchange between the Korean people and foreigners. This exchange is what leads to the trans nationalistic nature of Korea. The biggest occurrence that led to transnationalism along with a struggle in transnational identity is that of the Japanese Colonial Occupation over Koreafrom 1910 1945. This occupation of Korea was not just so Japan can follow the colonizing efforts of western governments, but also the complete assimilation of the Korean people. This assimilation ideology was called Naisen Ittai and is known as the unification of the Japanese and Korean people. Though, this mainly meant the creation and enforcement of rules or policies to slowly turn the Korean populace into becoming as Japanese as they could. This Naisen Ittai implemented by the Japanese government lead to the cultural and self identity struggles many Koreans obtained while trying to balance the notion of becoming Japanese while retaining their Korean heritage. However, some Koreans did not struggle at all with this notion, as some embraced the Japanese assimilation, and others completely opposed it. Those who embraced it known as collaborators and are seen as traitors to the Korean People. These clashing ideals and identity brought up upon Naisen Ittai can be found throughout many Korean works of literature and film. Some of the Korean works in which these ideals are found within are YГґm Sang sГґp s On the Eve of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Richard Rodriguez Hunger Of Memory Analysis Remedial Reading Richard Rodriguez, in the passage Remedial Reading from his autobiography Hunger of Memory (1982), promotes active reading as a developer of one s mind. He justifies his position by describing his initial experiences with reading, specifically his attachment to the reading. Rodriguez s anecdote functions as an encourager of stubborn minds trying to read and displaying its potential to change their life for the better. Rodriguez uses a very descriptive style that may be too verbose for children but compliments the verbosity with enough explanation of his purpose for his message to be known or ascertained. The Gramercy Gym Edward Hoagland, in the passage The Gramercy Gym (1985) from his book Heart s Desire , asserts that boxing is a sport on the decline. He supports his assertion by describing a gym in New York throughout time. His account chronicles how the gym is not the same energetic site it once was. Hoagland s audience includes sports enthusiasts who particularly enjoy and want to preserve boxing, his writing would be confusing to people unacquainted with boxing, as its jargon is riddled in the passage. The Great American Desert Edward Abbey, in the passage The Great American Desert from his book The Journey Home (1977), asserts that the desert is a terrible place but should still be benefited from because of its solitary nature. He portrays the desert as a horrific place that no one would like to be in. He then describes the desert as a quiet place to be enjoyed. His audience includes environmentalists and those who love nature. A Few Words for Motherhood Wendell Berry, in his essay A Few Words for Motherhood (), displays the grace and awe of animal birth. He recounts one of his cows giving birth in his barn, he expresses the sentiments he felt: wonder and joy. He presents the cow, who amazingly knew exactly how to confront giving birth with no prior experience. His writing is for everyone interested in animals and animal birth. Here is New York E.B. • 11. An Outdated Buddhist The stupa, an engineering structure ordinarily lodging the cremated remains or belonging of essential righteous figures, is thought to be the auxiliary image and the most imperative sort of landmark of Buddhism. Most stupas have an extremely unmistakable semi round shape, regularly encompassed by a wall. As Buddhismwas presented in diverse districts, the fundamental building elements of stupas were changed into an assortment of shapes mirroring the masterful articulations of those societies. The Mahaparinirvana Sutra (an antiquated Buddhist content portraying the most recent days of the Buddha) guarantees that after the Buddha passed away, his devotees partitioned his cremated stays into eight segments. Each of the eight kingdoms in which the Buddha had lived gotten one part of the relics, and a stupa was raised in every kingdom keeping in mind the end goal to house the remaining parts. Buddhist sources assert that amid the third century BCE, the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka the Great requested these eight stupas to be opened, further appropriated the relics of the Buddha into 84,000 partitions, and had stupas assembled over every one of them over the extending Buddhist world. The relics of the Buddha were not just considered a memorial image by the Buddhist group; they were accepted to be the living vicinity of the Buddha, a vault of his defensive powers and living vitality. Right on time in the Buddhist convention, pastorate and common people alike honed the reverence of stupas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Admiral William F. Halsey Before we re through with them, the Japanese language will be spoken only in Hell, explained Admiral William F. Halsey in response to seeing the damage inflicted upon Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. The United States entered World War II in December 1941 bearing a hostile attitude towards the Japanese and immediately focused forces in stopping Japan s aggressive Pacific expansion. In pursuing power of the Pacific, the United States secured crucial victories at the Battle of Midway and Guadalcanal. As the United States sought control of the Marshall Islands to advance forces on Japan, the Gilbert Islands stood as the avenue of success in the Central Pacific Campaign. Operation Galvanic arose as the plan to take these islands, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Colonel Joseph H. Alexander, in his book Utmost Savagery describes he battle of Tarawaas a gruesome seventy six hour battle, which took the lives of six thousand human beings in a space of three hundred acres the identical size occupied by the Pentagon building and its parking lots. The battle began in the early morning of November 20, 1943, as the United States Invasion fleet lay off the coast of Betio, the island projected to attack among the Tarawa Atoll. There were 18,000 marines sent to the attack on Tarawa and this seemed to be a more than sufficient number to easily secure the island. The United States forces encountered many problems though as they started storming the island on November 20. As the U.S. landing crafts attempted to invade the beaches of Betio, the tides were too low for a number of the heavier boats to freely navigate to shore. On the morning of the attack, the tide level never reached the four feet above the reef that was necessary to allow landing craft to land properly. Instead, the tide rose to at most one foot above the reef. The reefs that surrounded the island were now acting as another defense force for the Japanese and the American forces were significantly slowed in their attack. • 13. Snow White By The Brothers Grimm Snow White The story of Snow White is a cautionary tale that has been written by many. Each time it has been told, the authors had a different interpretation of how it should be. The two variations that I will be focusing on are The Brothers Grimm s story and Walt Disney s film. Although the fairytales are written and filmed by different authors, they share a common theme and two symbols. The theme that is present in both Grimm s and Disney s versions is that evil will always be punished. The symbols that are in both tales include the concept of beauty and the red poisonous apple. The Brothers Grimm wrote a few versions of Snow White, but the one I will be referring to be Snow White. I will be comparing this story to the film of Walt Disney titled Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. These two variations have a great deal in common including being about Snow White, but they both tell her story a bit differently. I will point out a few of these differences. In Grimm s version, the Queen visits the dwarf s house three times. Each time she comes, she leaves with Snow to be looking presumably dead. The Queen harms her first with a tightly laced corset; second with a poisonous comb she brushes her hair with and last with a red piece of a poisonous apple. In Disney s film, a red apple poisons Snow once in the attempt by the evil Queen to take her life. In the Grimm s Snow White, the kiss of the Prince does not awaken her like in Disney s film, but instead the Prince s men drop her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Controversia Conversion Therapy Research Paper Conversion therapy goes by many names, such as reparative therapy, Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE), and ex gay therapy, but all are geared towards the same end result: to eradicate homosexuality as a whole, even if it may be completely natural to the individual. Despite the common belief, homosexuality is not an illness. In fact, it was declassified as a mental illness from the ICD 10 in 1973. However, there are several organizations dedicated to the very purpose of treating it as one. While it may seem like an antiquated topic, the issue is still being debated and even encouraged to this day, despite its lacking ethical standing. The things I would do if I was a Triffid is kill all the humans. I would also gather up other Triffids and form a large group with other Triffids and I would also invade all the buildings in the area. To start, if I was a Triffid, I would kill all the humans in the world. If I was a Triffid, I would try to kill as much as humans as I possibly could in order to stay alive. The reason I would try to kill all the Triffids is because humans can make and have very deadly weapons such as shotguns, nuclear bombs, machine guns, missiles and more. So if I tried to kill all the humans ,blind and not blind, there would be a result of no dangerous threat to Triffids and I, so we could roam around freely. Also, because Triffids are carnivorous and I am a Triffid, I could only survive by eating meat and flesh, and there is about seven billion humans so humans could be a superior source of food. • 21. The Unconverted Self By Jonathan Boyarin Essay In The Unconverted Self, author Jonathan Boyarin reexamines the relationship between Christian Europe and the world around it, especially in the context of interreligious dialogue as a means of defining Christian identity. The common school of thought, as presented in this book, is that European identity reaches modernity after 1492 with the discovery of the radically different culture of Indigenous Americans (p. 9). Boyarin argues that this is untrue, as this belief operates under the incorrect assumption that the European people were a homogenous population (p.9). Instead, Boyarin seeks to move beyond the concept of two separate Europes, and proposes instead that this othering that was so critical to define Christian identity was already occurring in pre contact Europe (p. 1). For this, Boyarin looks to the Jewish and Muslim populations of Europe as a replacement for the Indigenous American peoples. He asserts that this sense of the other threatening Christendom existed far before 1492, and outlines the ways in which this conflict in religious dimensionality was vital to the formation of Christian identity. Boyarin s volume presents a concise read that reexamines existing scholarship and recontextualizes historical events to create a convincing argument, as well as provide questions for future scholarship to build upon. However, there were aspects in this book that were lacking, causing it to be an almost tedious read at parts. The Unconverted Self uses the history ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In today s environments, NPD is crucial to many companies due to a number of reasons: firstly, international competition is increasing rapidly; markets have become fragmented and demanding; again, technologies are changing and becoming more diverse. In order to always be ahead of competition as well as maintain a competitive advantage, organisations have integrated NPD into their corporate strategy and also offer products that are well aligned to target customer needs. Literature Review Various NPD models have been proposed as a result of evolution of design of NPD process throughout the years. Specifically, three major generations of NPD models are identified. (Bigliardi, Bottani, Rinaldi, 2013) For the first generation of models, NPD process was perceived as series of stages to be conducted chronologically to simplify innovation activities. (Bigliardi et al., 2013). Works by Klompmaker et al and Hanan (cited in Bigliardi et al., 2010) proposed an NPD model comprising of 27 steps and a 24 activities flow diagram appropriate for non industrial goods respectively, while McGuire (cited in Bigliardi et al., 2013) proposed a similar model for industrial goods. Another model proposed during the early 1990s indicated NPD steps were performed in parallel or concurrently (Clark Fujimoto, 1991). Cooper (1994) postulated a third generation of NPD models, which involves moving a new product from idea to launch mainly incorporating discipline into a process. Even though there exist differences across various models, in terms of the activities recognised, each theoretical element shows a framework that is significantly similar. Most of the stage based models denote the process as a series of linear activities, having feedback loops between each activity. New ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The interplanetary migration of our species has been a stimulating prospect for ages, and, as technology is advancing by the minute, we are only getting closer to its realization. For this prospect, Marsis the sole candidate. There are many reasons why this is so, and there are many reasons as to why we should undergo the colonization of Mars now. But why Mars in particular? Because it is the nearest celestial body that also happens to be very similar to Earth. A day on Mars only forty minutes longer than a day on Earth, which, to plant and animal life, would be familiar. Not only that, but Mars axis tilts similarly to how Earth does, which means that Earth and Mars have similar seasonal patterns. These two aspects would provide colonists familiarity rather than alienation. Not only this, but Mars is the closest planetto Earth that is potentially inhabitable. (Venus is closer to Earth than Mars but highly uninhabitable.) Most interestingly, Mars has sizeable reservoirs of ice mostly beneath its surface, which then could be uprooted and thus usable. No other celestial body within the Sun s liveable boundary (called the Goldilocks zone ) have these conveniences, making Mars the best option for interplanetary habitation. To the philosophers of the early modern period not only are these terms dissimilar, but also represented radically different ontological theories. The topic of substance is a pillar of philosophy an ontological analysis. The term substance corresponds to the Greek ousia, which means being (Howard, 2013). This dualist presentation of substance allows for a deductive ontological proof capable of predicting primary substance. • 37. Fog In Charles Dickens Charles Dickens diplomatically uses symbolism throughout the novel to portend upcoming conflicts. The horses with drooping heads and tremulous tails (16) struggled to march up the harsh conditions of the lofty hill. The horses embodies King Louis XIV, Queen Marie Antoinette, and aristocrats of France. The rulers and aristocrats eventually face death due to the dissatisfaction of the people about the dying economy. The horses drooping heads epitomizes the King, Queen, and the aristocrats heads under the guillotine, which leads to their appalling death. As the passengers of the carriage, along with the horses, trudged up the the precipitous hill, they had to walk through a curtain of fog that was enough to shut out everything from the light (16). The fog best exemplifies the unpredictable future of the aristocrats because they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the passengers and company hiked up the steep hill, they mashed their way through the thick mud (16). The thick mud prefigures the difficulties and conflicts the aristocrats have to face in the end for ignoring the suffering and poverty of the people around them. The story takes place on a Friday night in November, one thousand seven hundred and seventy five (17). Dickens chose a night in November because the month has more dark and gloomy weather and color during the day than luminous and radiant. The month s gloom and darkness foreshadows the many deaths of the aristocrats and the depression feeling of the lower class. On the Friday night of November, the passengers were lumbering up Shooter s hill (17) to get the the Dover Mail. Shooter s hill is steep, muddy, and sufficient with many obstacles. The hill presages the tough obstacles the upper class will encounter because of their money and arrogance towards the lower class. African American Womanhood African American women, often perceived as a sexual object or the Jezebel (the stereotype of white man view of the black woman as loose and over sexed) have struggled to eliminate images that promote sexual exploitation such as their promiscuity (showing off their breast, behind, legs, and showing much of their skin on television, music videos and magazines) through the use of feminist movements and the creation of the womanist movement. However, in modern day society, black women have accepted these sexual ideas which were once considered to be dishonorable. The acceptance of this image, a direct cause of social construction and suppressed oppression, has given rise to a disturbed vision of black womanhood for years to come. Despite this, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While both Black and White women are subject to sexualized images, the white woman defines the standard of the socially acceptable view of what it is to be a woman. Not being able to fit into that set of stereotypes, Black women consequently become deemed as the other within their own gender. The stereotypes formed for African American women were even more significantly derogatory than that of the image of the submissive house slave. This ideology of the 19th century Eurocentric norm was to objectify these woman as sexually promiscuous. By exaggerating their actions and portraying them into a negative perception, these portrayals were designed to oppress these women and deem them inferior to their female counterpart. Decades later, these images still have influence today in the perceptions of the Black women and their bodies. A great example of this sexism and racism can be seen in today s criticism about female sports athletes such as the six time U. S Open tennis champion Serena Williams and her sister Venus. In order to achieve this higher level of performance in one s golf game, Callaway had created a club for their target market that met yet a third need, that being the demand for forgiveness in a club. To meet this need Callaway created a driver that allowed a less than technically proficient golfer to drive the ball straight and accurate down the fairway, even though the golfer may have hit the ball left or the right of center on the driver. In other words, what the golfer lacks in technical skill can be compensated for to a noticeable degree by the advanced design of a golf club. This is what is known as forgiveness. • 41. Confucianism In Chin The Fall Of The Qin Dynasty There have been many debates among Chinese historians as to the cause of the fall of the Qin Dynasty. The Qin used force and strict rules to keep a short leash on the people of the kingdom. However, with the precautions taken by the government, they did not know it would ultimately be their demise. In order to contain rebellion and to keep the people of the empire ignorant, the combination of brutality, persecutions, antagonizing of the elites, and denying the Way, led to the short reign and ultimately the fall of the Qin Dynasty. In order to start at the very core of the problem with the Qin, one must look into Confucianism. Confucius, known as Master Qiu or Our Master Kong, lived during the Spring and Autumn Period of the Zhou Dynasty from 551 479 B.C.E. He was born in Lu in Eastern China of low nobility, but educated. During this time, war was imminent. He spent a time during his life traveling from state to state helping, and became employed by rulers who shared his view and perspective of life. Now labeled as Confucianism, his teachings and philosophies shaped the Chinese world for thousands of years. Confucius surviving teachings are published in his Analects. Three important conducts that Confucius associated with moral nobility were: filial, humaneness, and ritual decorum. Sexism And The Effects Of Growing Up Sexism and the Effects of Growing up in a Man s World W0512971 Southeastern Louisiana University Abstract The purpose of this study is to determine whether sexism has an effect on the lives of women in situations such as breastfeeding their child and whether or not people take offense to the sight of seeing a mother breastfeed her child. I will recruit 100 participants, 50 males, and 50 females, ranging from ages 18 to 50. I will perform my study using an experimental design where participants are shown a series of images in a video on a projector screen and they will place the images in one of two categories, with ten slots open for each category. The next part of my study will be to ask the participants in an essay question if they would continue, or be comfortable with their significant other continuing to breastfeed in public after receiving negative feedback from a stranger (See Appendix). I hypothesize that the majority of the participants will place an image of a mother breastfeeding in a public setting in a bad deeds category, but will place a picture of shirtless men playing football in the park in the good deeds category. I expect to come to the conclusion that people are more likely to take offense to the sight of a woman breastfeeding than to seeing a shirtless man. As a result, he had to look out for himself and the odds were stacked against him. Me Against the World exemplifies this struggle as he felt like it was just him against the world at times. The word tenderness also perfectly describes Tupac s music. The lyrics in this song sound heartfelt. He expresses how he feels about the world around him by talking about the issues people outside of the ghetto are unaware of, but people who live in the ghetto are used to seeing people get shot and the fear of being shot when he steps outside. As Quinn describes it, this song and album as a whole are different from his previous work because it focuses on his individual paranoia. It does not seem like his lyrics are targeted at one specific audience. It sounds like he is talking to himself at some times and is retelling his experiences, venting his frustrations with the world, and the chorus is his way of accepting his situation and how the world is by saying, It s just me against the world and I ve got nothing to lose. The main character, First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross, is a young man who struggles with the battle of love while being away at war. Cross leads his men with the thought of Martha, the woman he loves, in the back of his head at nearly all times, which distracts him from the true harshness of the war. The list of the things the soldiers carry in O Brien s short story tell us what tangibles the men carry with them that are necessities for the battles, but they also carry intangibles with them such as the letters, and the dope to help comfort them in a time of fear. These possessions express the character of the men in the squad. All of the men in the squad carry something with them whether it is tangible or intangible that defines who they are. These things that the soldiers carry with them are not only items strapped on their shoulders but they are now a part of who they are during this period of time in their lives.
